There was a false account created under my information. When I called DISH they offered very little assistance and they stated that they don't even require ID to open an account. Poor business practices!!!

I have been a Dish customer for over 3 years and never ever late with payments. I must have inadvertently renewed my subscription when I went on to take off services to lower the costs and took off the local channels, which they charge $10 to have, not including fees and taxes and in doing so I inadvertently renewed and didn't mean to but we wanted to cancel the service because we just don't watch TV much anymore & on limited income.
When I called to cancel my service, the customer Service guy named Leo argued with me over and over and over for literally 90 minutes. That was after I have made 15 calls to get it canceled and could never get in touch with them because the operator would say the lines were busy and call back. Leo the customer service guy would not let me cancel without a fee and wore me down to agreeing to suspending the service for a $5.95 dollar a month fee and informed me that if I cancel they will take out the cancellation fee with or without my approval because they keep your financial information and will deduct it from your bank account in 20 days, like it or not. I don't think it's right that Dish TV can just deduct from your account a cancellation fee, instead of sending a bill.
I can't afford that, we are on a set income because we are retired and that amount will come off of our food budget or cause us not to be able to pay another bill like the electric bill or insurance. I also asked that the suspension start on Friday and when I turned the TV on, he had already put the suspension on and I already had an extra $10 added to my bill. So I had to call back again and ask that the suspension begin on Friday. The customer service guy name Shak was nice. He turned my service back on until Friday. I don't think it's right that Dish just takes that money out all at once, I was going to make payments on the cancellation fee but Leo said, "Too bad." Before we moved to my current address over 3 years ago, we had DirecTV and they let me cancel early without a fee because I was a great customer. I'll never get Dish TV again now. If I get TV again, it will be DirecTV.

I received a marketing call at 7:06 am. When I asked to be removed from their call list, they hung up on me with no response. I called Dish's customer service line 6 times to confirm removal from the call list. The CSR who answered 3 of my calls was the one who spam called me. Each time I asked to file a complaint or speak with a manager, they immediately transferred me back into their phone menu loop. I have yet to speak with someone who can help me and am writing this review while still on hold.

My suggestion is that for any complaints you have you should contact: the Federal Trade Commission, the Federal Communication Commission and your State Attorney General. Up until today we had TV Japan, without notice they changed the service to a crappy Japanese Channel that programming dates back to the 1970 and 1980's. We are being charged for TV Japan for $24.99 per month therefore we are now being charged for a service we did not order.
I am going to look for another provider and then cancel my service and notify them to come and pick up their equipment and if they don't pick it up I will charge them rent for holding it. In addition I intend to contact the FTC, the FCC and the Nevada State Attorney General as a complaint for the provision of a service we did not order of which they are charging me for. The new Japanese Channel is not TV Japan which is what we are suppose to be receiving of which we have paid for. Dish never informed us of any change in programming. Therefore they are in violation of National Trade through the rules of the FTC.

I had DISH service for over 10 years and was reasonable happy except for the ever increasing price and outages in storms. I was moving to a new area and there were other options for me so I decided to cancel the service. I went through what I thought was the cancellation process, confirmed that they did not want the old equipment back, and then was transferred to another service representative for final processing. He kept trying to push transferring the service to my new address and then he wanted to put the account on hold for a $5 a month fee. I told him I didn't need the service anymore and didn't want to pay $5 a month for something I didn't need, but he kept pushing and I must have given in to the hold with the understanding that I would be contacted to see if I had changed my mind about hooking up service at my new address.
I forgot all about it until I received a bill for services from the company that I had the bundled services with and included DISH, which I was not using since at no point did I ever have them hook it up at my new house. I never received notification about the hold being over and that DISH would automatically start charging for services. After talking with a couple of representatives, I got the service cancelled again but have a significant bill due, plus one of the representatives was asking about returning the equipment that I leased. I told her that I already went through that when I cancelled the first time and she said since the account was put on hold that I was still responsible for returning the equipment.
Now I am afraid that they will add charges for the equipment that I was told was worthless and did not have to return. She also said that I would have been contacted about the account being put on hold and prior to the removal of the hold but it was an automated system. All I can figure is that they either called the landline that was part of the services I had disconnected or sent e-mails that went into my spam folder. I never got the notice about my account being put on hold or the notice about the hold being turned off. I never had a chance to confirm whether I might want the reinstate service. I know there is no way I would ever consider DISH again after all this hassle.

I moved and do not get the free move. They told me if I want to have my Dish installed at my new location it will be 100.000. They also told me I called customer service too much so my account has a mark against it and I won't qualify for any offers and moreover I shouldn't even call Dish because no one will help me. I only called a couple times to verify things about my move. Dish: pull down your Property Brothers' commercial. It's all a lie!!!

We had DISH for 5 years, after the initial two years they kept raising the price up and gouging us. You have to call in and beg for a better price and accept less in programming than what you had from the very beginning to keep a reasonable price. We decided to cancel 03/29/18 with 24 hours left that we prepaid for. They charge you $15.00 to return their old outdated boxes. We call it a cancellation fee. To put the frosting on the cake they turned off our DISH tv signal only 5 3/4 hours into the last day, keep in mind we had Prepaid for the entire day up until 11:59 PM.
Based on our treatment by the rep get me on the phone for over 30 minutes when I called in to cancel, they most definitely don't want customers to go back to them so that's they burn the bridge by treating long-time loyal customers horribly. THE BEST THING YOU CAN DO FOR YOURSELF IS TO STAY FAR FAR AWAY FROM CALLING THAT DISH PHONE NUMBER FOR SERVICE. Just another badly treated formerly Loyal Dish customer.

I've been with Dish for many years, that is until today. Every month for the last 5-6 months I noticed my bill was different. Some months it was higher by $5, some month by $10, and some months it was higher by $15. So I began contacting the customer service group to get answers and to get it resolved. Each month they would tell me that it was all taken care of and it won't happen again. That is until the next month's bill arrived. It's a shell game with Dish. They tell you that some credits have come off and that some have been added. It's their way of controlling your account fees and increasing your bill. Although their technical support group that deals with the internet and other technical areas was good, the television side is very unethical.

After personal research I found my monthly bill ridiculous. Dish, after a few denials, lowered my monthly bill substantially. It seems my suggestions in the Dish survey got some attention. I will have to negotiate further, at a later date (costs fluctuate daily), but have no plans to discontinue service for a while. Keep your wits about you, when calling (do not "chat" or use the app), and remember negotiating takes time. Be courteous. Most customer service reps are underpaid without decision-making power. Nothing is gained by your anger/frustration. Wait until you are calm(er) before contact. If you get no satisfaction initially. Call again. The easiest answer is "no." Work beyond this reality. There IS a person who can help you; it just might take time finding some. "Ryan" and "Amber," Dish survey reps, assisted immeasurably keeping my budget intact. Good luck!

First, a big "Thank You" to DISH network for many years of excellent TV -- both at AFFORDABLE prices, and the current ridiculousness ($130+/monthly!) --even WITH constantly, inflating charges. Rural living dictates minimal services, across the board, so it's nice to have options with TV. There are, however, valid reasons why I might actually have to "unplug," going with streaming, or without, in the near future. DISH charges are too high. I don't think this needs explanation. Odd how 2018 cost-of-living wages stagnate at 1990 levels, but COSTS seem to rise exponentially. Really -- WHY does it take $130 a month to WATCH, FRIGGING TV, programmed by... DISH versus the viewer?
Next -- I DO NOT WATCH SPORTS! EVER! MAYBE the Olympics, but even then minimally. Why, then, does the "250-package" CRAM sports channels (and "trash" channels, i.e. filler channels you don't watch) into this, seemingly, generous package, when, in reality, you're getting more crap JUST to see what you want to see, WHEN you want to see it? Also -- DISH had a HUGE senior-base. "Boomers" are aging, if not already "there." Boomers are used to more, expect more, and are experienced in demanding same. Unfortunately, many are/will be on fixed-incomes, whose COLA increases do not keep pace with DISH increases. Recommendation: How about a senior-discount, that does not fluctuate or change unless the customer desires? DISH would not only nurture a healthy "bottom line," but would likely increase revenue as this demographic takes advantage of your program.
Finally -- enough with "dropped" channels! DISH departments need to communicate. After setting up my package, I "lost" channels because the promotions ran out. Premium channels are not too expensive, especially with promos. I called DISH who tried giving me the lost channels again AT INCREASED COSTS TO ME, AFTER I'd already made arrangements TWO WEEKS EARLIER! We finally got it straight, but what happens to those unwilling to confront, or those afraid to ask? Come on, DISH! As exhausting as you think us customers, we think it exhausting to constantly ask for the services we have/and have had, for years. How in the world did my viewing not change, but costs went from $60/mo. to $130+/mo.?!? You don't think about it, but the seeing the numbers is sobering. A more than 50% INCREASE from our first DISH payment!
DISH: If you want loyal customers, try being loyal to your customers. Unplugging might be necessary...because DISH is not the company it purports to be. And I like my movies! 3-stars for historical excellence, quite diminished in 2018. 3-stars for still negotiating monthly charges. I would recommend, however, searching all other options before signing with DISH.

I just had an unbelievable day with people at DISH Network. Absolutely the worst experience of my 64 years on this planet. I have been a customer for many years and I am considered a 5 star customer. I put my program on pause while I sold my house and bought another. When I went to set up the new house I called and talked to a rep about the service I needed including Internet. He was a hard sell and I didn't trust him so I called back and got another person who told me the last person was wrong on what Internet I could get and told me I could get a certain one only. Well different info from 2 different people so I decided to call a third. I was then told I could not get any internet at all. I knew that was wrong so I talked to a supervisor who said the person was wrong but I could only get satellitte internet.
I knew this was also wrong so I called another and this person seemed to know more than the rest so I signed up to move my system with him to my new home. I was able to get DSL through DISH partnering up with CenturyLink. HughesNet is horrible and I didn't want it again. When he got to the info for CenturyLink he asked for my Social Security number so they could run a credit check. I said I am closing on the house in a week and a half and I don't want my credit to drop with an inquiry and maybe cause an issue as I know the VA in Oregon will check it to make sure I didn't take on any new obligations and that I still kept up with my bills. The DISH guy said... "They don't have to run one. Just make sure you don't owe them money and they can do that by your drivers license number" and I said, "Ok just as long as they don't run a credit check. If they have to I will wait 2 weeks until after the house closes." This is all on a recorded line.
Later this afternoon I get an alert that someone has checked my credit and thinking it was the VA I was surprised that it was CenturyLink. So this idiot gave them my Social even after I said no. He looked it up because I was already with DISH and did this to get his sale. That I believe is breaking the law. I never gave approval. In fact I said, "Do not do it or else I will wait." This is the most underhanded company of all time. I will cancel everything with them. I could never trust them again. I ended up talking to 11 different people including 3 supervisors and I was told I needed to write a letter and mail it to them with my Social Security number and what happened and the will see if they can remove it from my credit. The damage is done. It will take a month to get this off. DISH you really suck.

I signed a 2 yr contract with DISH. Dish installed a Hopper (main) receiver and 1 Joey (slave) receiver along with the satellite dish. This was a new learning experience on how their programming worked, it took a little time to master. Once we started to use some of the options such as downloading shows, movies, etc. and how to record shows/movies, this is when all the trouble started. Dish advertised 'Watch Shows/Movies ON DEMAND', immediately I thought, didn't know it may take up to 15 minutes (depending on the program) to download, a little false advertising in my opinion.
Another problem was when I recorded a program from the Joey receiver, the program that was being watched on the Hopper would be replaced with the recording show. That is not what should happen. I guess I'm paying extra for this great feature. Upon complaining, the Joey was replaced with a Super Joey, for an additional monthly fee. I was told by the Dish customer service that the extra fee would be waived. This was not the case, I was still billed, and the problem was not resolved. Dish customer service associates were not willing to correct billing and/or problem. This was totally frustrating to me and my family so 1 month into Dish services I called and cancelled services with an end date (one month from the call date). Dish proceeded to suspend my TV services the very next day.
I do agree to breaking the signed 2 yr Terms and Conditions contract, but in my opinion I was not getting the services I signed up for. The cancellation cost was $20 per month of the remaining months of contract from date of cancellation in which totaled $460. I've also tried to get my account reinstated as to avoid the cancellation fee, customer service were rude and reluctant to reinstate my original contract, they push a new contract with higher costs. I wonder how many more families fell into this trap, poor service, people cancelling and Dish making a huge profit without furnishing any service.
Another issue I experienced with Dish was automatic bill payment issues. I agreed to an automatic bill pay to Dish via my credit card. Upon experiencing the issues as stated above, I placed a "stop payment" on my credit card. Little did I know that Dish was not the bill pay collecting company but some other 3rd party. Since the 3rd party was unable to collect payment, I assume they reported this to Dish who in turn went and charged my credit card, it seems their legal team did their homework. We consumers cannot fight with the big corporations who have endless resources. They should be accountable in delivering the service as advertised.

My 94 year old mother-in-law had to be moved to an assisted living facility that already uses Spectrum. I called DISH and was told that they couldn't stop the service until I completed the following: Send a letter containing account number, account name, point of contact, desired disconnection date, an address where they should send a box to return their equipment and a letter from the facility explaining why she couldn't continue to use DISH. I asked the representative, "Are customers not allowed to cancel DISH for whatever their reasons without these requirements?", she replied, "We are required to do this and to prove you spoke to me here is your confirmation number 1212570307." I requested the service be cut off June 19, 2017.
My mother in law did not have a contract and she received the DISH service through AT&T. I was to send the letter to Littleton, Colorado, which I did on June 23, 2017. I must admit I became busy with my 94 year old mother in law and my 88 year old aunt. The phone service in the house had been switched to the facility, yet when I checked the bill, they were still charging $57 per month to an empty house.
I spoke to Dish customer service on November 20, 2017 and asked why the service had not been cancelled. I was told that the letter was received but did not have satisfactory information from the facility. I told them I was very aggravated because no one bothered to advise me regarding the letter and that I expected a refund for the five months they had illegally charged her for services and asked to speak with a supervisor and was told there wasn't one available. I was asked to write another letter. I would receive no refund without it.
I requested a letter from the administrator of the facility and laughed at me and said in her twenty years there she had never received such a request and told me she didn't think the request was legal. Wanting to receive the refund for her, I gave DISH a copy of the page my husband and his mother signed in order for her to become a resident and a current copy of the receipt from the facility showing that she was still living there. They sent me the box, I returned the equipment and waited for a refund.
Again, no one called me and I noticed on her AT&T bill, they charged her $51 for all the months after June. I called and spoke with Mark, OP ID: IDZ, explained the situation and he went "to the back" to talk with an accountant? When he returned, he showed me on the bill were the September charge had been credited back in October. I asked about the other months and he said he was told I should contact AT&T if all of the credits were not showing up on the bill. He gave me the AT&T number and I spoke with a Holly and she assured me that AT&T had nothing to do with DISH billing and vice versa which I myself thought. I called DISH back and asked for a supervisor, and Mark told me they had already done all they could do for us and that the supervisor was unavailable.
I feel insulted and powerless. First, when a customer asks to end service with them, that request should be enough. Asking for information regarding where my mother in law lives was very intrusive and unnecessary. The corporate office never contacted me regarding the first letter and I am sure they did that so they could continue to charge her until the equipment was turned, knowing they would not refund the service charges. I found it appalling that I was not allowed to speak with a supervisor and that rather than doing their job, they tried to blame AT&T and I know they knew how inappropriate it was to refer me to them. I have copies of everything and that DISH does this because they can get away with it. If they were the last provider on earth I would not do business with them again.

I have been have problems with my Dish equipment. The dvr would not record. I couldn't watch anything on demand because something was wrong with the box. Also prices would change without a notification. I called Dish to see when my contract was up. They told me I was no longer under a contract. So I switched services. After I switched I called Dish to disconnect service. They told me I had an ETF because of my contract. After I told the rep I called a week earlier about my contract, he told me that the system was pulling up all of my information. Because I was provided the incorrect information I had to call my new provider and cancel service with them, because it was after 24hrs, I had to pay an ETF with my new provider. I wouldn't had the issue if the rep would have taken the time to pull up all of my information.

Don’t get DISH SERVICE!! The quality of television is very low, the video will come back pixelated and skip forward when freezes. You CANNOT record more than 5 shows at once, you are obligated to watch one while others record “PrimeTime Anytime” which NOBODY watches. If the receiver is slow it WILL shut down on you and start from when it finally restarts and powers on. You cannot rewind at that time. Even on recorded shows the screen will black out and not come back until you reset the receiver AGAIN. I have very unhappily stuck with this cable company with promises that things would get better but rather I am charged for every question I ask. I am very obligated to turn this off and be on Netflix & Hulu.

We have 3 Dish accounts. 1 is 11 years old, the one for my 92 year old mother who has around the clock sitters is 9 1/2 years old and both are bundles with a phone company. The other is a single TV, single box at a rental property, not a bundle, different town service address. The oldest acct has a Hopper and 5 TVs. My Mom's acct originally had 2 TVs but a few months after opening it had 1 TV was turned off and I was assured it could be turned on with a simple call at any time.
A month ago we got a 2nd TV and called to have it turned back on. I told person #1 how old the acct was and all pertinent info. I was repeatedly having to clarify which account. I was told the 2nd TV was turned on. A month later and 5 separate calls, repeated emails and confusion the TV is still not on. I was told today that the new remote sent out was actually for the Hopper account. Last night the sitter called Dish and was told that it would require a new piece of equipment and my mother's account would have to be extended by 2 years.
A person who was supposedly going to calm the situation called yesterday and he argued about how difficult the 3 accounts are to tell apart until I finally said 'since you are going to argue as well I'm hanging up'. He emailed this morning. I complained about the fact that unless God miraculously changes the situation my mother will not live 2 more years and the only way he could remedy the situation was to have a service tech come out, get the TV on, NOT AT MY MOTHER'S EXPENSE and not add a day to her contract. Unbelievably he sent a reply addressing the fact that he had looked at the notes from the original person I spoke with, who told me the TV was on, and that I deserved consistency! I also told him that I was about to open a 4th account, which was 100% true, but would in fact cancel all 3 current accounts if he did not handle it today. WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE???

He also provided me the number to call regarding the gift card along with the new account number. The installer also stated that the $200.00 gift card would arrive in about two weeks.
We were told that we could even use the card toward the monthly bills. Well no gift card has arrived, there is no record of our account when calling the gift card number and when calling Dish Customer Service we were informed that we didn't qualify for the gift card. We were also informed that the card could not be used toward the monthly bill. He just keep saying over and over and over again. "It is only for clients of Dish. To get them to stay." I just told him. "Forget all of this. Just cancel me." Then he says, "For your trouble we will waive the $15.00 fee for the return box." I told that’s good, because otherwise the Better Business Bureau would get it, and they could decide what to do with it. Jerks, just jerks. We will never have Dish at my house. That is for sure. Okay. So I cancelled my service with DirecTV because it was the "PITS." It cost me $655 to get out of the contract. Then 4 months later I get another call from another credit collection agency that I owe them $100. Well due to the fact that I do have a credit rating of 720, I hit the roof. REALLY AT&T? REALLY! So what do I do now? I will make them WAIT for that $100. I will pay $25 for the next 4 months. How can a Company charge outrageous fees for piss-poor service. WARNING: whenever it rains, thunders, snows or whenever there is inclement weather, YOU WILL NOT GET DIRECTV. If they say it is always available, then they lied to you just like they lied to me. I had made the worst mistake of my life to go for Dish service in 2015-2016. I got the Dish service and they installed the equipment, due to job change I had to move to Chicago from Oklahoma City. I talked to them and they said instead of paying early termination fees, they can put my account on hold for $5/month. Their customer service reps are trained to NOT take no for an answer. I did that and now it's 2018 and I have moved due to another job change in Virginia, so I finally paid the early termination fees in Jan and close the account, because I had paid $5/month for basically no service, which would have been the early termination fees if I had not fallen prey to their sales reps.
Now after paying early termination fees, they told me I have to return the piece of equipment (non HD, non recording) otherwise there is a payment of $214.13 will still be pending on my account. I asked them how are you estimating the price of a 3 year old equipment that is not HD, while DirecTV is offering 4K Apple TV for free. They said it was disclosed in terms and conditions 3 years ago. So that was the first problem - Plain Bully if inquired about their piece of equipment.
2nd problem:- I talked to my movers as I was not able to find my equipment at home (moving twice), while they were trying to find it, I received a letter from Dish on March 7th. That payment will be due on March 22nd. And that is what I told my movers. What I see is that these guys stealthily charged my debit card which I never used in my life to pay bill with them on March 15th for the payment. I called them and asked why are you charging earlier than your date stated on the letter, as, if you printed the right date I would have called myself before that to pay off the amount or give you an update on the equipment from moving company as I have insurance with them.
The problem is not the charge, the problem is the early charge on a card I never used with them. I talked to multiple supervisors and they said they will refund this money and wait for March 22nd for my call. Still nothing and the charge is still on my account. I called them, gave them a different card while I am still trying to find the equipment and they still have to refund my original card. NEVER ever do business with cable companies as streaming services are better without contracts and you know the charges upfront, they won't come and start charging random cards before your payment due date! WORSE customer service and a bully! I would give no star if I could.

I would like to warn folks about a very shady practice Dish Network uses to screw people. Over a year ago I cancelled my Dish account and went to Comcast. At the time I completely paid off my Dish balance and was under no further commitment obligations to them. During the phone call to cancel I was told by a Dish rep that I could keep my service open for 12 months, in case I changed my mind. I informed him numerous times that my contract with Comcast was for 2 years and the "pause" in my service was not needed. He was relentless in his insistence that I suspend my Dish bill for 12 months, and the $5 fee would be paid by Dish to cover the year-long monthly charge. I insisted that I would not be back within a year having already signed a 2 year contract with Comcast.
He assured me that Dish would not restore my service without my approval and that this protection was just in case I wanted to leave Comcast. I grew tired of the fight and said go ahead with the $5 monthly fee, since I was promised that it would be covered by Dish and I would not be turned back on without permission. Fast forward 12 months exactly. On that day they restored my service with absolutely no permission from me to do so. Not even having the Dish box connected or the satellite active, they unilaterally turned on my account again. I had no idea of this until I received a bill for $119 for the month. I quickly called them to see why they turned on a closed account and was promptly told that after the 12 months service it’s automatically restored. Not at all what I had been told 12 months earlier.
Although I was able to get them to cancel my account AGAIN, they claim I owe them $119 for a month of service that I not only did not request, but was completely unaware of. I was told my bill would be turned over to collections if I did not pay. I have written to my State Attorney General and sent all the information here, along with the bills and paperwork. This practice is definitely scam and Dish uses it to trap cancelled accounts for 1 more bill and sometimes more, since many people pay no attention to mail from companies they no longer do business with. Which is exactly what these Dish folks want. I will never use Dish network again, and have started making people aware of this scam throughout social media. PLEASE beware when you cancel your account, do not let them railroad you into some type of pause, even if they claim you will not need to pay anything. It is a lie and they are a completely dishonest company.

The equipment is slow and repeatedly breaks and when you try to get it fixed the customer support is beyond terrible, even combative and opportunistic. Bottom line is after they determine that the equipment is broken they tell you the equipment is past warranty and you need to spend $90 to replace it. In short, that means the customer will pay Dish $90 to restore their monthly revenue stream. What a joke. I can't even watch TV as the receiver just goes to black and/or resets while in the middle of playback. The Netflix option no longer works, and it can take up to 10 seconds just to execute an action from pressing a remote button. Trust me, choose ANY other carrier than Dish. They are absolutely the worst - something I have told them but they just don't care.

Over a year ago I began having trouble with my DVR's automatically deleting recordings. I called tech support and they said it was a known issue and they would get back with me. I called in a few months later and they acted as if they didn't know what I was talking about even though they could see where I called in before. So they decided to swap out my receivers. A few months later I was charged over 600 dollars for new receivers that I never received. When I called they said they never received the old ones back. That makes total sense because I didn't sent the old ones back because I didn't have new ones.
I also paid the extra $8 a month for a tech to come out and fix any problems I had, however they would never send one out. They finally told me that the new ones never shipped and said they would return my money. I told them to refund it back to my credit card or send me a check. They posted it to my account instead. I had to call them yet another time, after my bill increased once again, to ask when they were going to refund my money. They told me it was on my account and that should be ok. My response was that it was NOT ok to overpay my service by $600 and to send my money back to me immediately. I decided at that point to cancel service. I have old hoppers that don't work correctly and refuse to continue to pay.
When I called to cancel, the guy argued with me about the $600 and then asked if I would take a $40 credit to stay. LOL Really? I am certain that is not what you do if you want to keep customers...argue with them about the problems they have had with the service. Now I have some cancellation return fee of $30... Really? After three years of terrible service (treated badly by customer service and broken equipment) AND paying the monthly tech fee? WOW. I will not ever come back as a customer. There are just too many options available at a much lower cost and better customer service. I have an antenna up and don't pay a dime.

I have been a customer for 4 years now. First off their prices are less expensive than their competitors, but so is the service. You do get what you pay for. Back in 2015, I noticed a charge on my credit report from Dish. Mind you I have a prepaid account, meaning everything that is done on my account is paid up front. I also own my equipment. There was a 98.00 delinquent on my report. They did take care of it after a lot of deliberation and hours of being passed to this person to the next. Fast forward to present day. I'm still a no contract customer and since I am prepaid I have 48 hours to pay my bill before it is interrupted. I was told that if you are late more than 4 times in a 6 month period. You can't speak to a supervisor. Now I am still paying my bill, they're still taking my money.
So today I called to see what premium stations were on special and was sent to the office of the president to be read disclaimers that they are giving me the opportunity to keep receiving their services as long as I don't ask for discounts, don't call customer service for anything, but tech support, and don't be late. Now, I owe them no back money. My service is on and I own my equipment. Maybe that's the problem they can't stick me with a cancelation fee. I will be going to the attorney general because they said they may cancel my service. You are a business. Your job is to please your customers and they will be loyal. To be continued!

I had less than two months remaining on my two year Dish contract. I have not been happy with the quality of their compressed video – the artifacts and blurriness are particularly evident on today's large screen TVs. I also do not like the very slow-to-respond user interface that really lags after button presses, not to mention the loss of signal in rainy weather that satellite signals are prone to. Earlier today, I accepted an offer from my internet provider that has identical channels for less money, with a free premium channel for 1 year, and no contracts – you may quit at any time. Hard to compete with that.
So I called Dish to cancel and gave "medical bills" as my motivation, which is partly true. I was asked to remain on hold for several minutes. When the representative returned, I was treated to over 8-10 minutes of non stop hardcore sales tactics trying to have me keep the service at a reduced package and rate. I politely declined to no avail. I had to become rather aggressive to counter the unrelenting sales pressure and dodging tactics, citing that my mind was made up and that I wanted to cancel effective immediately.
He said that I would lose 2 years worth of earned perks and my "record" would be tarnished as it revealed I had terminated a contract early. As early termination is my right and never shows up on a credit report, and I was willing to pay their $20/mo. termination penalties just to be done with Dish. So I firmly pressed on to proceed with my desire to terminate service immediately, explaining that I understood the penalties, and that this was my choice. Unbelievably, he continued to press me to consider a less expensive, limited package. I continued to decline and remained firm until he finally proceeded to cancel the service.
My account was charged and my service ceased immediately after the call today. I now await the return packaging so I may return the Hopper, remote, card, etc. Be forewarned that Dish may use similar boiler room tactics should you ever decide to quit their service. It was not a pleasant experience and it was difficult to not become angry.

I had the service for almost 2 years and had nothing but issues the whole time. The receivers had to be reset almost every day. While watching live tv, the screen would go black and say "live tv" in the corner for about 10 seconds or more each time and not because of the weather. Extremely frustrating when it happens during ot or a shootout during a hockey game. Technicians came to the house many times and every single one said something different as to what the problem was and that they fixed it.
I finally got tired of calling and decided to cancel and head to argue with the lady just to cancel. She tried to tell me it was a software issue and would be fixed with the next update which was a month and a half out. Funny thing is, the others I had talked to on the phone all said that the next update would fix the problem. And after a few updates and new cable boxes, the problem was never fixed. And now I have billing problems where they are trying to charge me for service for a time period after I had canceled. I chatted about that for a long time with two different agents. I was told it was a fee for canceling my service early. This is after I paid my early termination fee. They also charged me $30 to return the equipment (2 set tops) and wanted me to go on the roof to retrieve part of the dish. This is by far one of the worst television provider experiences I have ever had and do not recommend them!

We have had Dish for a short time now and honestly don't watch it very much but when we do, we like to enjoy a clear picture. The picture quality is TERRIBLE especially when watching sports. The players look very blurry and it's terrible to watch, you can't even make out who they're. We called several times to complain but just kept dismissing it because we didn't have the time to sit on the phone for an hr for them to say nothing is wrong. WELLL, the All-Star game came and we were so excited to watch it but couldn't enjoy it at all. It hurts your eyes. I finally was fed up and decided I wanted them to send a Tech out to fix it, even though they wanted to charge me for them to come out and they give you a 5 hr window!!!!
SMH, So, they come and they said that there is nothing that can be done, that the image quality was bad but that all the cables are connected and that we should let support we want to cancel. So that is exactly what I did, I called support told them that the quality was terrible when watching anything that is fast pace and we would like to cancel. They stated that they would need to send out another tech (Field Service Manager) in order to confirm the issue and to allow us to cancel. “Fine, send them out,” so the next day they sent another tech and (Another 5 hr window), just to tell us the exact same thing. His exact words were "They wasted both of our times. There is nothing I can do to fix this." So, I called back and told them to move forward with my cancellation. Now they said that they can't cancel and they need to send another tech to confirm.
That is their policy to have 3 techs come out for a cancellation. WTF!!!! For $100 dollars a month, I should get a clear picture and also better customer service, so I said, “Fine, SEND THEM.” They came today and of course, said the same thing. The technician called the support line and they told us that "insufficient picture quality" doesn't deem for a reasonable reason to cancel our contract and that we would need to pay $440 dollars for a cancellation fee. WTF. So basically they're saying that they're charging you for something you can't even use. I am appalled that they treat their customer like this. Is this even allowed? Disclaimer: We have a brand new Sony 4k, so it is not our TV that is the issue.

I had basic packages with DISH and DirecTV before and TMC was always included. So DISH put TMC on a more expensive package in order to charge more for the contract and for those of us who like TMC. They wanted $20 extra per month just so I could have TMC, but after haggling with them they reduced it to $10 per month or an extra $120 per year. I have Dishnet internet service and have had Dish network as a TV and internet provider for 12 plus years. As of lately within the past 6 months my service has been terrible for download speed. I recently switched to a bigger better plan and still have found the service is terrible. Have had two techs come out and check equipment and everything checks ok. I have called DISH several times and always get the run around about it. Last time I called I told them I wasn't paying $80 a month for service that they can't provide. After numerous speed tests I receive between .55mbps and 2mbps depending on the time of day which is pathetic. I'm paying for a service that is supposed to be between 9mbps and 15mbps. As you can tell it's not even close to what it's supposed to be. This internet sucks and I would never tell anybody to get it.
Dish will not change anything to make it better and should be sued for not be able to provide a service they are selling. I am told it's too much traffic on the satellite and that may be but if Dish has too many customers on their service then they need to fix that problem. I also have noticed that my service drastically decreases when I try to stream video from devices which tells me Dish knows what I'm looking at on my internet and is filtering or blocking my ability to stream anything. Legally I'm sure Dish would not like for this to be known that it's happening and when I prove it is I'm sure my legal representation will notify Dish of their wrongdoing.
Dish needs to remember that customers don't need Dish network to make money but Dish network needs customers to make money. Dish if you don't fix my internet problems I'm cancelling my TV and internet after I prove you are filtering or blocking my service and I know you have the ability to give me whatever mbps service you want but choose to give me a slow connection speed due to the fact that you know I stream video and companies like Dish network and many other internet companies don't want streaming to be a thing of the future. So they try to choke out these free streaming websites so that they can sell their TV service and not lose customers. Dishnet you are fraudulent and counterfeit. My advice to people is never buy Dishnet service until they fix their issues with trying to serve 100,000 people on a satellite that is made to serve 10.

Every year for 6 years Dish Network put the receivers at my friend’s Airbnb on seasonal suspend for Jan, Feb and March. 14.95 per month per receiver. When the senior couple returned to reopen the Airbnb April 1st the account was once again charged per month per receiver. Hundreds of dollars per month in business to Dish. The receivers were rental units. This past December Dish agreed to same exact deal. Receivers would go into seasonal suspend. 14.95 per month. I spoke with Dish as well as the owners. Yep seasonal suspend, ok from manager. Nothing was said in ANY year including this one about returning receivers or being charged for them. Suddenly a bill arrives for $99 each receiver due to not being returned. Wtf one might say? So calls to Dish ensue. Dish shuts down entire systems with all receivers going inactive. Dish managers then lie to my face and say, “We never said this?” What I say. "Get out your recording."
They say, “Nope. We don't have.” Horse manure. They say they are recording calls. Then I bounce up to what is supposedly corporate. What a joke naming any of these people customer service. Manager says, “Well yeah. These receivers are so old, we really don’t want them back, we will waive the return fee but you cannot reactivate them come April 1st.” I say, “But this is not what either of us was told.” She says, “Tough. It is our policy.” I said, “Well you do not stand by what your employees tell your customers?” “Nope. Not our policy.” I say, “Look just send me an exact copy of our conversation so I can keep track.” “Nope. We never do that.” Ok. I get why now. They lie to your face, say they never said what they clearly agreed to, all so they can rip these senior citizens off.
I request to speak with upper level management because clearly Dish does not understand the ramifications of shafting people and lying to them repeatedly. “Nope. No management above me.” YEAH RIGHT. Way to go Dish. Greed rules the world now. Wonder which politicians they bought to allow them to shaft people. This is fraud btw. So if anyone wants to joint class action PM me. When the new bill came there was a charge for almost $200 on it, when I called Dish again I was informed it was a reconnect fee and due to human error it would be taken off. Never happened. I had also spent over 3 hours setting up a new service contract that would lower my bill to 1/2 of the $150 I was paying, guess what, it never happened. Don't bother to sign up for Dish Network. They only want more money and don't care about customer service. I will be looking for a different TV service.

I believe that when you sign a 2 yr contract for Dish service, you are obligated to pay the agreed upon price for service on time. That being said, they are obligated to provide that service and all channels agreed upon, throughout the 2 yr contract, whether or not they are going through Contract Negotiations. When they cut off Fox News to their customers due to a contract feud when I was under contract, I felt they broke their contract with me. Now they spring this five dollar increase a month, and once again they blame it on their contract negotiation increases. This right after their tax rate went from 35% to 21%. I'm a free market conservative. But this is bad business, shady contracts, and bad customer service.

I am beyond tired of the ** partial monopoly satellite tv providers have over "public television" programming! We paid for the NHL package as an addition to our already excessive and expensive programming from Wish Nutwork (their new name, amongst other derogatory ones I have for them), and recently have had nothing but problems from the antiquated equipment they've had us using. When we call, we get to enjoy 30-120 minutes of our lives being stolen from us, only to get to the part they should've figured out in 5 minutes, that they need to send a tech out. This last visit from a tech after one of our Joeys went south got us a replacement Joey, mind you we have 2 Hoppers and 4 Joeys in our system, all of the same generation (old). The next day our #2 Hopper basically goes out, we get to reset power between 3 and 10 times to maybe get it to work, for a bit.
So we call (79 total minutes of life vanishing before us), to get a tech out-who could've guessed-and while doing so, they finally offer to upgrade our equipment, something that should've been done when it became available-do you people even know what marketing is!? So I get home from work, and no shock, my NHL package is gone! Are you ** kidding me?! So, who can guess the next part, we call, as 97 minutes grinds off the back end of life. The CSR, and I use the acronym very loosely, decides after going through his arduous protocol to argue with us that we ever even had the NHL package. Seriously?!?! Eventually he finds it, no **, and informs us he can't turn it back on until our equipment is replaced, and there's nothing else he can do. Here's a suggestion, close your doors and NEVER EVER think about trying to operate a business again! You are horrible!
If anyone else operated a business in the manner you do, they would close within days of startup. I don't expect anything will ever happen, nor will anything improve, nor will we be given any courtesy for any of the crap that has transpired. And yes, in the big picture (no pun intended) we all have much greater problems than the immense frustration and anger generated by such a worthless company. But some days you come home from an already frustrating day at work and expect that the things you spend your hard earned money on earned at work to actually do what they are supposed to do.
Apparently Wish Nutwork didn't get the memo. And to be clear, if rating sites would provide us the opportunity to give honest feedback entirely, they would add the zero star option for us to give certain reviews what they truly deserve. ZERO STARS for you, Wish Nutwork! Somebody please start a satellite network that actually cares about their customers and the service they provide!

Since the fatal software update by DISH in early 2017, its services sunk to a new low. I am joining millions of customers, who curse DISH on a daily basis. My most recent experience (today) was finally calling DISH about inability to access Internet or stream movies on demand over the last 5 days. It just happens that today, unlike the last 5 days when I simply did not have two hours to waste on DISH Customer Disservice, suddenly everything works. The CSR refused to issue a refund for the five days that I could not use their services while paying for it. Instead she offered to connect me to an account rep, which is really an account rip-off, whose only intent is to upsell you instead of offering any refunds, and claiming that allegedly that new set up will resolve my problems. I am not dumb, I did my online research, and even their new, more expensive setup is not working with this awful software update.
She also told me I should have called them when I have experienced these problems. At 4 AM, when I suffer from insomnia and the last thing I need is to be aggravated by their incompetent Customer disservice?! I am finally done. DISH used to be a good company, but they got cocky, and I hope they die soon as there are plenty of extremely unhappy customers leaving them as I type this. I have had nothing but problems with Dish Network. When we signed up a little over a year ago, we were promised the best of everything, the latest channels, best hardware and software, come to find out over a year later we were given the most bottom line hopper or DVR, it has extremely slow service because of how outdated it is. Dish Network refuses to fix their mistake so now they want to charge me and my family 350.00 to upgrade our service. The technician that came to our home today even stated off the record of course he thinks it is b.s. we were given the equipment we got being such new customers.
Our DVR was supposed to offer everything a Smart TV would that is what we were told it would also play Netflix, guess what out of the 3 DVRs Dish has to offer ours is the only one that is not compatible with Netflix. I only found this out recently because my family now has internet so I tried to hook up the Netflix that Dish said would play through our hopper and guess what it won't work. But that is my fault for not checking Dish Network's promises to make sure they were true. We pay 164.00 a month to have service through them and they can't even give me their basic promises.
I have never been so disappointed in a service before. My TV is currently black because my outdated DVR is not working tonight. There is nothing they can do. I can't get out of my contract early unless I pay almost 500.00 to terminate it before the time is up. I would never recommend this company to anyone and if you do end up going through them make sure any and everything they promise you have in writing so they can screw you in the ** later with no lube.

I ordered and received Dish TV service in January 2017. After 8 or 9 months I noticed that one of the receivers was rebooting very often. I called Dish and explained the situation, went through various troubleshooting steps over a period of days, until finally a customer service representative agreed that a replacement was needed. The replacement box came and worked well for a few weeks.and then the rebooting issue started happening again. I again called the customer service number and reviewed what had been done before. This technician said the earlier representative should not have sent me out a replacement as the software wasn't updating as it should. He went on to explain that my house may have older RJ59 wire and the standard is RJ6 and this required a technician visit. He also implied that the software version in the receiver was faulty and that could be causing the issue as it couldn't be updated.
While I knew there was a new single line from the Dish to the working TV, I wasn't sure about the other line to the second non working receiver. The technician explained that the service charge is $95, or if I would subscribe to their insurance of $8.95 a month, it would be covered. I disagree with his proposal and I was transferred to another representative. Basically I was told that I have two options; pay the $95 for a service charge or purchase the service contract. I explained that there is a third option, that being I ship all the equipment back to you and we part ways. At this point she starts reading out a long list of charges I will be incurring totaling in excess of $300.00. In the end I decided that I will return the non working Wally Receiver to them and honor the contract till the end of the term.
After the call I decided to take a look at the installation wiring and this is where I determine that the original installers did not run a full line to the tv where I am having the rebooting issues. Instead, he spliced in the line about halfway between the dish and the TV, instead of replacing the whole line. I believe this is the cause of my problems. It was a bad installation and now I am being asked to pay for the corrections. On the subject of rebates and promotions, I have noted others reporting problems getting their debit cards and promotions. I too had to fight for $50 that was promised to me. After a few months I was finally able to get the money owed me. Additionally I was promised a full year of HBO service.
After six months the service was terminated and I had to fight to get it reinstated. They reinstated it for 3 months and though I said it should be for 6 months and 3 months are still owed me. It looks like I will be making some more calls to get my remaining 3 months of HBO service. To summarize I do not recommend Dish to anyone. They are deceitful and cannot be trusted.

I called DISH about TV services and programs. I talked to Nattaly. My main question was how good is reception. She said, "Great." Then we would not lose reception unless we were in a thunderstorm that was bad. So I ordered a package. The next day was installation. The installer called at 1 pm to be here at 2 pm. At 4 pm he came in saying he was late because he was at the first place from 9 am to 4 pm trying to get their system to work. That he had to run new wiring twice to get a signal strength that will let their TV work. I showed him the direct DISH on a post. He said needs to be on the house. I said, "That is fine but not on the roof." He never put one on a roof.
I went next door to close up my office. My wife was in the house. The installer was still working outside putting the DISH together. I went and sit down with my wife to wait. The installation and set up they say 45min. to 1hr. My wife and I were said, "It is after dark. He must be cold." When he came in we ask if he needed a warm drink or something to eat. He, "No. I'm fine." We talked about things waiting for the TV to come up. During this time his boss was calling wondering what is taking so long. He told his boss about the job before taking from 9 to 4 to get it working and how others they will not work and that the signal was too weak to get ours to work. So he used another sat. and the signal was weaker.
At that point they told, "I don't know if it will work but you can move the DISH to a different spot on the house and see if that works." At that point my wife and I said, "It is about 8:30. This is not going to work. They will poke holes all over the house just trying." At that point we told the installer, "The signal is too weak at this location and it will never work correctly. So please reconnect the direct DISH and cancel our order." His boss was on then telling us we cant. If we do they will charge a termination fee of $480. I told him, "You cannot give us the service we were sold so we do not owe for something you cant provide."
After a back and forth I told to get their crappy equipment and get off my property. So the installer did. That was yesterday 1/17/18. Today 1/18/18 I called DISH to try and get things straight. After getting passed around 6 or 8 times and O the frustration I got a lady. I lost track of names. If I cancel I will be charged the termination fee. I tell her what had happened. She said they want to come try again. I told her that it would be using a coat hanger and tinfoil just trying things. She said the termination fee will be charged because of the report turned in. I ask what was that. She said the installer I argued about the location of the DISH and was there all time arguing about the wiring outside.
I told her to stop there. I did lose my temper at that point. If that is the installer he is a ** liar. The only time outside I met him showed him the old he said he will put it on the house. I said just not on the roof and he no that he would put an thing on the roof and that was the last I talked to him until he came in the house. I told her I cannot believe he said that unless he is trying to save his job or his boss made it up. She said in the report that when he came in the house we argued with him over everything.
When he came we offered food and drink and my wife and I had a good friendly conversation with him. It was his boss that was ARGUING with him. So this lady told this the report so if we let them come try again they will. I said no. If they lie and make up a fabrication like that I do not want them back. So she said that is the report and "You will be charged the fee." So I guess DISH is selling a service they cannot deliver but find a way to still charge you. Now I know they lie just to save their jobs. What a bad deal. (I see you ask for receipts so far I have none.)

I contacted Dish Network to cancel my service, because they had steadily been increasing our monthly cost over the last 3 years and we were paying too much for the few channels that we watched. The agent who I talked with offered to give us a special deal, because we had been customers for over 4 years, which would only cost $13.00 per month after the $20.00 discount he was offering. I asked to get a list of the channels, because I didn't see the package on their website, but instead he named off a few channels and said "and a bunch more channels. It includes a lot of channels. It is a package that we don't even offer anymore" (This isn't word for word, but is as close as I can remember). After asking to get a list of the channels again, he said that he could send them to me after I signed up. This is where I should have said 'no' and canceled the service, unfortunately, I was suckered by the offer of a good deal and accepted.
Now we are stuck in a 1 year contract for $13.00 per month and a $120.00 cancelation fee... The new package includes 1 channel that we might watch occasionally, a bunch of shopping channels, and some other junk channels that nobody watches. I contacted Dish Network the next day and explained that their business practice of requiring someone to agree to a contract before giving them the list of channels was shady, at best. I asked for them to cancel this questionable contract without charging me the cancelation fee. They refused to waive the fee. I explained that this was an unfair arrangement and that it would ensure that I would never be a customer again, but this did not seem to matter. In the end, I did not cancel, because the cancelation fee is nearly the same as the paying the subscription...
This review is meant to warn others about Dish Network's shady practices and to let you know how they treat long-term customers. Once your introductory rate runs out they jack up the price and when you try to cancel they find any way possible to stick you with another worthless contract. If you get any value out of cable/satellite don't stick with one provider, because they won't reward you for your loyalty. Lastly, once you get tired of all this nonsense just buy a ChannelMaster DVR, sign up for some kind of streaming provider, and save yourself all of this trouble. It isn't worth it!

So, after getting thru all that, the person was VERY PERSISTENT in signing me up and getting my credit card # to get a tech out and said I could cancel anytime! I canceled the tech from arriving at my home on time after they tried to come a couple of times (after I called and SAID NO!!!) Then on my credit card statement shows they charged $49.99!!! So, when I called, she could ONLY credit me back $39.99!!! There is a processing fee!!!! BEWARE!!! Don't let them have your credit card number, UNLESS you are DEFINITELY planning on receiving their services!!!

This is a chain of companies who pass you off to the other when you complain and make it time consuming to receive your rebates that will expire. I was promised 150.00 in rebates. After jumping through a number of hoops I should receive 100 in 8 to 10 weeks!! The 50.00 one I have to submit an investigation as to why I didn't receive it which will take 7 to 14 days then I can submit for the rebate that will have expired by then. These companies are deceitful and are sleazy in their sales tactics. STAY AWAY FROM DISH!!!

I subscribed to Dish in June of 2016. I signed up for a 2 year contract. In February of 2017 I called and they sent me 2 Joey receivers because I added 2 TVs to house. I was charged $20.00 because I made a change to original contract. I now call to find out when my contracts end and I have been advised that because I made changes to the contract I added on to the time period. They are saying my contract restarted again in February 2017. The debit card that they offer for you to join $200.00. I never received it. They said I should have gotten it in the mail. The only thing that is true about Dish is that the monthly bill remains the same. But they screw you in many other little ways.

I had Dish for 6 years, bought a new house and had them install it here. First guy damaged window and left with the wires laying on the floor in the middle of the rooms. He also left a whole box of wire. Called Dish and they sent a new technician out. He ran a drill bit down across my drywall damaging it. I let it go. Is month they added a 15.00 fee on my bill for something they added to services. I called and had it removed. Next month the charge was still on there. I decided I had enough and after a long runaround I cancelled my service. Still being left to fix the damages on my home on my own and out of my pocket.

I contacted Dish TV through a chat line provided on the website under my account. The young person who responded said he could not help me as the internet service was in another department and gave me a number to call. I called the number and the young man who answered said that the internet issue was handled in another section who he contacted while I waited on the phone. He came back and told me that the other department showed I didn't have internet, only phone service. I assured him I had internet and it was working just 24 hours earlier when it suddenly stopped.
I had already tried restarting the modem so I was fairly sure the problem was on Dish's end. The person on the phone finally got the internet service contract straightened out but indicated that the technical people had ran some tests and they were blaming my wireless modem for the issue, even though he previously told me they showed I didn't have an internet account. The person also insisted that the internet was on the entire time. Being disgusted with his lack of fixing my issue I said goodbye and hung up.
I left the modem turned on without doing anything else and within a half hour the internet was back on, which is about the same lag time that it takes when they turn on the internet when it has been shut off. The worst part about the internet service is that it is extremely slow 300K upload and 700K download and Dish isn't interested in changing that. I will be looking for another internet provider.

Customer service is being provided from a different country where the service levels and ability to communicate is very limited. At one point during a recent call the individual became extremely offensive to the use of my surname by labeling me as Mr. **. When corrected, the individual continues the wrong usage which left me no other alternative, but to request to speak to the supervisor. When being placed on hold the connection terminated, no return call was received from the representative to ensure customer satisfaction. The company instead of saving a few dollars on the use of overseas workers whom do not speak the English language should instead invest in the country the customers live in and the communities where the company is conducting business. It only makes smart business sense to have English speaking customer service representatives speak with English speaking customers.

DISH NETWORK… Does the punishment fit the crime? You be the judge… Background… I am going through the toughest time of my life. My business stopped making money and I maxed out my credit cards trying to buy inventory to keep my business going. I have authorized a company to settle my debts and needless to say, I’m having a terrible time making the payments. To try and save money I have been trying to find ways of saving money by cutting things out that aren’t necessary and/or finding alternate, less expensive ways to keep a few items to make life bearable. Satellite TV is one of those areas.
I currently have DirecTV and am very satisfied with it. Changed from Dish many years ago. When contacting DirecTV with my problem and asking for a special set of just local network stations, they were unable to help me. Said they couldn’t offer that. Many years ago under similar circumstances Dish Network was able to supply me with exactly what I wanted at a very low price, and all worked out well. So, I called Dish and explained the problems I was having and they were very nice and went over everything with me and answered all my questions. We were on the phone for at least 30 minutes. I thought we covered everything.
There was never anything said about cancellation charges and the lady knew I was trying this out to see if it worked for me. All I was told was I would have to pay for the equipment to be returned to Dish. I thought that was actually more than fair. So I called Dish and explained my problem and after some negotiation was told if I took their smallest package for 30 days, I could then change to what I had had with them many years ago.
Dish came to install my equipment and all went well until we got to the Dish installation in my backyard. Couldn’t be done until the proper people came out and marked where any wires or anything were buried where they wanted to dig for the post installation. So the installation was incomplete. But the serviceman marked it complete, but didn’t tell me. Asked me to sign it, which I did under the condition that he would return the following Saturday to finish the installation. He did put it temporally on cement blocks and tune it in.
The balance of the installation went smoothly. I then turned it on and began to program my channels. It became apparent Dish was not like DirecTV in many ways. I needed a recorder and one wasn’t supplied, so I called to inquire. Talked to technical service and customer service. Was told it cost a lot more and it would not perform as the DirecTV unit I had. I asked specific questions about programming, number of channels recorded at any given time and general questions about ease of operation. From what she said, it was evident their recording equipment was not as advanced as the Dish system, not even close.
That ended everything in my mind since I was going to end up paying more for service, inferior to what I had with DirecTV. I was much better off with what I had with DirecTV. I started dismantling the entire system before calling Dish to cancel. The unit had been running less than 8 hours and has never run since. I called into customer service and canceled the service and explained the reasons why. We had a lengthy discussion because I was sure I had read or was told I had several days to check out the system, because of my circumstances and I didn’t sign any contract for service, only installation, which is incomplete.
Actually I don’t remember ever seeing anything like a contract. Everything except the dish and cable is sitting on my dining room table waiting to be picked up, which I told them to do at that time. In our discussions I was transferred to technical service and after explaining what I was told about their recording equipment, I was told the info I got was wrong. The Dish system runs circles around the DirecTV system. I said they needed better technicians who could answer questions correctly. That I had made up my mind based on the info I received.
Back at customer service I was now told I would have to pay $480.00 in cancellation fees. Now if I had waited a year and then quit, I could understand cancellation charges of some large amount. I can also say that a smaller amount of say $100.00 would have been closer to fair for the amount of time the equipment was used. (Less than 12 hours.) What I don’t understand is why Dish did not come right back when I canceled and pick up their brand new equipment. The indoor equipment is still new, but the dish is setting out and the wind has moved it. They have not called or tried to contact me in any way except to charge me around $40.00 each month, which I have now stopped by editing my payment method.
In parting with customer service I told the lady I was going to the internet with my story. Her smart answer was; “Everybody says that.” I said; “I’m not everybody, have a nice day.” So that’s my story and I’m sticking to it. I would really like to discuss this with someone at Dish Network who has an open mind and is reasonable in their views and decisions.

I was a DISH Network customer for 7 years, I canceled my service 3 years ago and changed over to DirecTV. In October of 2017 while I was online making my bill payments, I accidentally made a payment of 165.00 to my old account at DISH Network and not DirecTV. I did not realize I had made this mistake for 3 more weeks. The payment was submitted and sent to DISH Network and accepted.
Once I realized my error I immediately called DISH and explained what I had done. I gave them my full name, phone number, address, and account number payment was submitted under. DISH has absolutely no record whatsoever I was ever a Customer with them. None whatsoever... I kept questioning them asking them aren’t you suppose to kept records of your customers for up to 7 years by law? Knowing it had not been 7 years. They refused to answer me. So I then took my claim to my financial institution for resolution.
Here’s what happened. It has been a month now since I reported my error to my Bank. It has been in resolution. On 12-15 my Bank and I did a conference call with DISH which lasted 1 hour 40 minutes going from one Supervisor to another. We spoke to Maria, Robert, Jennifer, Edwin and Eric. The rudest was Eric which refused to offer a fax number to my banker and kept telling my banker if he knew how to do his job properly he wouldn’t need a fax number. If the banker knew how to do his job properly he wouldn’t have the customer on the phone while disputing the claim. My Bank has proof of the payment to DISH but yet they have no records I was even a customer with DISH. DISH is refusing to resolve this issue and refuses to acknowledge I was ever even a customer. I have now taken my issue to the BBB and the Fraud Department through my financial institution. Do NOT use this company. They are CROOKS!!!

My parents are seniors that live in an area where service is NOT at "99%, anywhere" (as they say). They have been taken advantage of for months. They pay over $150 a month for a service that doesn't even work. They keep being told they have to pay MORE to get better service. I JUST PAID THEIR BILL for the last 2 months because they can't afford it! Just finding their phone number online took me 20 mins, because the signal is so poor. Setting up this account to write a review took me another 20 mins.! My brother and I have called so many times to try and find something that would be a more fair deal for them. All they tell us is that they need to pay for a "better" router... Better than the one that they installed. But they can't install it for us. WE have to call the manufacturer of the router, and buy it through them. ANOTHER EXPENSE!
All this to say... Before buying into DISH, make sure that they can guarantee a good signal where you live, and the equipment you get from them is adequate. Oh yeah! They will also have to run a credit check on you (before even knowing if they can give you service). In short... Your credit will take a blow before you even get any kind of guarantee. My parents are old, and the aggravation it all causes them any time they try to simply watch a video online, is torture for them. I'm so mad about what they go through, I just felt I had to vent here for them. Totally taken advantage of, and have no way around it! That's what Dish has done for our household. OUR HOUSEHOLD PAYS MORE TO GET LESS THAN OTHER HOUSEHOLDS. Someone please tell me how this is fair! Does Dish care? Of course not.
This customer has kids that will pick up the $300+ bill that is due when they can't pay it. I know other customers (I'm sure), get what they pay for. But not us... We have no other choice. Dish has us by the **! P.S. After taking all this time to write this review, I clicked on "Submit Review", and a window popped up saying, "Can't connect to the server". Well...what a surprise! Luckily I know how this works, and will "copy and paste", so all this effort can be submitted again. This is how this works! (doesn't work). Now I can't even submit this review because my email has to be verified... BUT THE EMAIL DIDN'T EVEN COME THROUGH! Surprise! I will try to post this elsewhere.

So here was my first time buying internet, the rep told me that 10G/month would be PLENTY considering my needs of working at home and streaming movies. Clearly a huge lie. I had burned through my data after about 5 days, but I kept trying to stretch it in the following months by using my phone hotspot. Finally, I called in March to cancel and they said they couldn't do it without a $200 cancellation fee (which clearly I can't afford), and sold me a plan for $20 more a month with 50g. Still crappy, but it met my needs.
Fast forward to today, I cancelled my service for good because I've moved away from the house into a house that already has internet. I said I no longer authorized them to charge my card, and they basically said, "Screw you. We're charging you anyway." Apparently they can't wait to charge me another month until I'm done with all my other moving expenses. Terrible product, lying salesmen, and no compassion for people who are moving out of hardship.

On December 4, 2017 DISH Network took an unauthorized payment from my account. The representative stated "it looks like a payment was just processed from your account." When I asked her repeatedly who took the payment when and how much was taken she kept responding as if she didn't know how the payment was processed and tried to say it may have just been "a slip of the mouse".
Finally after asking her about 4-5 times she admitted to processing the payment but was willing to place a refund request and that I needed to wait 17 days to receive the funds she was not authorized to take in the first place. She finally got me to a supervisor, Ashley, who immediately stated I would be transferred to "the presidents' office" to have the request expedited. I then spoke w/ "Daisy" who stated she would be sending an email to request it be expedited as well as placing credit on my account for a free month of service. Once she heard back she would be giving me a call.
As of today, 12/13, I still have not heard from her. I called 12/11 and spoke with "Dave" who stated he was a supervisor and spoke very "as-a-matter-of-factly" almost to imply that I should have been happy they offered the free month of service. I took great offense to this as I pay my bill on time, in full each month through THEIR auto pay program! The issue was never the money. However the terrible customer service, lack of empathy, professionalism and consideration for an error that your company caused.
To add salt to the wound, when I called on 12/11 "Shannon" stated the refund hadn't even been approved yet, it was still in a pending state!!! There is no way I should still be waiting for a refund of funds that this company essentially stole in the first place and be treated as if I should just chalk it up. The moment this contract is up, I am running and never looking back! Mind you this was almost 3 months ago. Took me 8+ calls to tech to get someone out to look at the hopper, it got replaced fine. Works great now. Now I'm not stupid when it comes to what a receiver is and mind you this is an ongoing problem from day 1, the joey on at night, hopper off at night because I am a service connected disabled Vet and need the background noise to sleep. So the joey is freezing up on live TV and Netflix and they are telling me it is a software issue and they are working to fix it.
This has been the case now for 3 months. I tell them if this is the case why is it this does not happen with the hopper yet only the joey? Their reply is the joey has its own software, ok I buy that because it is a receiver yet it gets all of its information through the hopper, so 3 months now same problem and now when I try to watch Netflix on the joey I get error messages saying my network is not hooked up yet. I know it is and I have a strong signal. So I call tech again and they tell me there is a problem with an update Netflix did which is causing this error, yet I have no issues with the hopper watching Netflix only the joey. Now at termination because I moved out of their service area I was told to pay $72 and return the equipment and everything would be zeroed out because it was a bundle and the Internet service was not offered in my new residential area. After the calls started I decided to send their equipment back and pay the $139. Even though I feel I shouldn't have to pay that either. My daughter called DISH network to sign up for their service. They told her they couldn't do it unless she had a credit or debit card. I okayed them to use my debit card, and was assured several times, that my card would not be used, just needed to be on file. My daughter missed a couple of payments on her account. It was discontinued, and bills were sent to her PO Box in my name, which were probably returned. They called her home phone number looking for me. After six or seven years of her paying the bill, with a card, they all of a sudden decided that I was responsible for the bill. I contacted the State Attorney General's office for Minnesota and filed a complaint, since they had turned me over to 2 different collection agencies. The collection agencies dropped the collection process, but not before the collection went on my credit report.
There has been no resolution with DISH network at this time, since they insist I owe the bill. The service was set up in Oklee, MN, with my daughter's phone number, po box and other information on the billing, until it came time to collect, then my name, with my daughter's po box and other information, became the billing and collection.
I am disabled, have tried numerous times to get them to contact my daughter at her home and speak to her or her husband and to have them send out a box to get their equipment back, to no avail. I get the nasty, "this will remain on her credit report until she pays the bill in full." I can't tell you how many times the collection agencies tried to call me, before 9 am most of the time and after 9 pm. Thanks to the harassment by the collection agencies and DISH's refusal to take it up with my daughter, my depression has become a concern to me.
My recommendation: Do not use this company at all. Their customer service reps will lie through their teeth to get you to sign up. You may give them information and be promised and told several times, it will never be used and will be on file only, and you will end up with a hell of a bill, no resolution to the problem and even with them getting contacted by the State Attorney General's office, they dig their heels in and say you are wrong and responsible for the bill. They do not go back and check who paid the bill for six or seven years before shutting off the service. They go by what they have, because there is no leg work or research to do that way.

Due to my fault, and high stress level, I did not see the interruption notice until almost too late. Therefore I called on Friday to indicate that I was sending them the full balance $89.00 electronically via my bank, but the funds would not be withdrawn until Monday, at the earliest. I informed the guy that all would be paid, and requested that on that basis he waive the disconnect for two days until the funds came. All he did was argue with me and insist that I pay an additional $10.00 for an extension that I did not want nor did I want to pay for since I am in the process of cord cutting.
Monday comes, and I have nothing excepting channel 101 and perhaps weather. Therefore, I had to call again. Finally the young woman accepts that I am paying in full, and gives me an extension without charging me extra. Unfortunately, she neglected to state that I would get a confirmation email that I was charged the extra $10.00, but I should ignore it. Tuesday, I get the email, and I had to wait for a while to get through to a human who confirmed what the young woman stated. Well, to start with, no matter who it is, the programming is awful! People in Hollywood are not as wonderful as they think they are. The best programs are the animal programs on Nat Geo Wild and Animal Planet. But same shows over and over and repeat program the next day. They have way too much control at way too high a price! So overpriced for what you get and paying for equipment rental that never stops goes up all the time and you could buy it and be done with it, If I could get the tv stations to put up larger antennas as we only live out 25 miles from the city we could get rid of these people all together. The worst thing is when it rains the dish goes off and if the wind blows it goes off again.

Everything is great until you have issues with the DVR. Then, they only want to "reset" it causing you to lose any recorded programs you had and/or already set up. That is their answer for everything. Reset the DVR and any issue you have will be remedied. Just frustration! We have had the same DVR issues since the first week it was installed, the DVR has been "RESET" too many times to even count, and NOTHING has been fixed. Just lost recordings and DVR settings we previously had. :(

I have been a Dish customer for more than 30 years and have seen all the changes. Some of the changes are great and some are not. The cost is very expensive as I also have my internet with them. Both are all I have for the best service in the "country". They are very reliable if the weather is good but can be a pain when it isn't. All in all, for folks like us who live way out in the country, they are great!

DISH used to be great with good customer service but both have changed dramatically. Ongoing issues with programming; shows set to record don't, others we skip record instead. Guide will say one program but something different actually records. Whenever we call, DISH 'blames' our dvr, even though they just gave us a new, upgraded dvr at a higher monthly fee and it is obviously an internal programming issue not a dvr issue. Except that I do not want to get into a contract anywhere, I would leave DISH in an instant as they refuse to take responsibility for their issues.

Pay to have your satellite adjusted every few months. It would be worth it. If you're a do-it-yourselfer you'd save a lot of money. Otherwise you gain a lot of "snow" or drop a lot of channels. Cost keeps going up and options keep going down, but if you're really savvy and aren't afraid to lose service for a few weeks, you may be able to negotiate for a better deal, but believe me, it won't last long. Of course, you lose service every time it rains hard, a storm moves by, it snow hard, it's really cloudy... need I go on. And getting changes and updates... you have the be the account owner, so if the account holder is too lazy to get things fixed... too bad for you. But it could be worse... you could have service through Verizon!

I don't understand why satellite companies can't just let customers subscribe to the channels they watch. Or at least, include the more popular channels in the lower priced packages. I HATE paying over $100 a month just to watch a few channels on tv. I do not subscribe to the premium movie channels and it still cost me over $100 a month.

Been with Dish for over 2 years. Box decided to go out one day and we called them up. They said they would send us one ASAP. Asked to be credited for those days without service and they sent one overnight. The new one froze during install. Called again. Said it was our fault! Would take 3 weeks for a serviceman to come to our house. We canceled. They were rude to us. Signed 2-year contract for a lower amount and after 1 year our bill doubled. Every time it rained, we would lose signal. We tried at one point to add Internet and they gave us the runaround and said they would call back in a few days and they never did. Now I'm waiting to see what kind of bills and crap they are going to charge us. Our contract was over months ago. They give new customers good deal then you sign contract for 2 years and and after a year jack your bill way up and don't care about customer loyalty at All! Worst service Ever!

I moved in December 2016 to an apartment complex and they don't accept antennas of any kind. So I called and they made me buy the "sling" which didn't work! I gave up and put it on hold for a while since they didn't give any solutions whatsoever. I moved last September, called, and got my service working and FREE! Well I just found out that I gotta move again and I said no biggie since the ** ad that supposedly the moving was free.
For my surprise there is a charge of $100 dollars since I haven't been in this address for more than 12 months. The great customer representatives decided to help me out giving me a "discount" because how they say "It is totally up to us and we want to help you all." It sounded fishy for me and called for second time and I got the offer to cut off the cost $30.00 dollars off!!! How awesome is that? When the first one offered the half! I am about to call for third time to see if I get just $30 dollars. LOL! My recommendation don't get DISH!!! It's a trap, horrible service and totally incompetent for solutions!

Dish continues on the road to less and less value at higher and higher prices. At this point, I am reviewing other options - I have been a loyal Dish customer for 10+ years. Programming has gone downhill very fast over the past two years and it is at the point now where I literally cannot find a new program to watch - all of their channels basically re-run all old TV programming with the few exceptions of occasional new programming on the premium channels.

DISH resolved the issue and they waived the early termination fee. I’m very satisfied with the resolution.

I originally agreed to a 2-year contract with DISH Satellite TV service. I ordered a Joey extender several months ago to be able to view satellite TV in one of the bedrooms at my home. However, after the tech installed the Joey extender it never worked correctly. It disconnected constantly & displayed an error 404 message. I called customer service several times & they were never able to resolve the error message, so I canceled the Joey extender service & returned the Joey equipment back to Dish. Now I'm being told since I ordered extra equipment my service contract was extended. However, the Joey equipment was returned & extra service was canceled due to the service not working correctly.
I have already satisfied the original two-year commitment. I don't think it was fair to extend my contract for a service that never worked. Since the Joey Service never worked correctly and was returned this should have voided the agreement. Yet DISH is insisting I have to pay them an early termination fee of almost 300 dollars for Joey service & equipment that was canceled.

I had no idea that a dish antenna was so weather sensitive. If we got anything more than a drizzle the water running over the dish prevented decent reception. And snow was even worse. As soon as an inch or more snow accumulated on the dish reception was nonexistent. We took turns bundling up and going out to brush the dish off. And they didn't install it in a very accessible spot either. Never again!

They have on demand feature and have the seasons of a series that's on TV let's. They are listed but never have The Season's episodes there. It drives me crazy. Comcast always has everything listed with all the season so you can go back to the very first time it started. Dish Network should do the same. If they claim to have on demand feature and put up the icon for the episode but don't even have all of the episode what's the point of an on demand. Even the current season that they're in they don't even have all of the episodes. They're usually missing like the first three.

We like Dish Network, but it's just ok. We pay way too much for 250 plus channels because the channels we like ONLY come in that package. Our dish loses signal very easily due to even just clouds. We live in the country where we have no access to high speed internet or reliable cell signal so Dish is about the best in that situation. We've had DirecTV, and switched because the customer service was much better with Dish.
