I have called multiple times to find out what is going on, they say they will call me back, but weeks have been going by of me calling, and still nothing. Will not do business with them again!

On the 16th of March 2022. I went to the Safelite store located on Armenia Avenue to pick up my car, after a windshield glass change. Unfortunately the service was not good, because the glass did not work the rain sensor on the windshield. I took the car there on the 20th of May. A technician checked my car and said it had to be changed, as the glass was defective. So, I rescheduled the service, took the car again on May 27 and left. I came back at the scheduled time, two hours later, I asked the guy who gave me the car who said everything was ok. The fact is, they didn't do anything! They didn't change the glass. The car continues with the same defect, the sensor does not work!!!

At that time I went there three times. Every time I took the car I spent money on Uber to take me and bring me back 4 times! Just the times I left my car, I spent 6 hours of my time! I don't know if this is a normal way of treating a customer. Calling attention that this is a car safety item. August 2022. I sent an email to the entire board (CEO, VP and directors) explaining my issues. Also, I posted my complaints on Facebook and Instagram. One day, after my communication on social media and the email, someone called me and made a promise that Safelite would fix it right away. Nothing happened. One year my problem still problem I decided to sell my car. Summer is coming and with it daily rains.

I do not recommend this company today. The technicians were not even professionals. They just disassembled my front glass. They did not want to finish the job. They ripped my glass from my car and they did not want to put it back. They left me uncovered the front part. Is an incompetent company. I had to hire another company to finish their work. Worst service I have received...

Ignore the supposed Lifetime Warranty. I came back with a windshield they didn't install properly - which starting leaking in the rain. Clearly faulty workmanship - but they won't honor the 'lifetime warranty'. Instead I got 2 excuses from Robbie on LaCienega - the edges of Audi TT FACTORY windshields are too smooth to stay stuck with adhesive. So he not only wanted me to pay AGAIN to install a windshield, but also tried to sell me a new aftermarket windshield (because aftermarket's always better!). LOL and boy are they also laughing over at Audi about that. Second excuse from Robbie - it's just been too long since they did the work. My mention of the LIFETIME warranty got a shrug and a smirk. I guess it just looks good in their ad. Safelite repair, Safelite replace - but they're lying about that warranty with a very straight face! Just go somewhere else. Faulty workmanship. And no warranty on it.

I was scheduled a mobile replacement with Safelite for today between 12:00-5:00. At 10:30 this morning they called asking for my Vin which I provided. Then immediately following was a question, "when would you like to reschedule your appointment sir"? I said reschedule? I didn't ask to be rescheduled, I have been waiting for this appointment that was set a week ago for today. They said "our mobile repair guy called in sick and the next earliest appointment is for the 7th"??? So they cancelled on me and tried to push my appointment to the back of the line. So instead of putting me on the following day's appointments they try forcing me to wait another week. If you look on Twitter, Facebook, or any other media source, almost all are negative. Went there yesterday for a small chip in windshield. They supposedly fixed it but wake up today to the chip taking on a life of its own. Called them and they say they are sorry and can replace the windshield. WHAT?!? The whole reason for repairing the chip was so I didn't need a new windshield. Lucky me they said they can do it for only $1085. They are scamming people by not properly fixing a small ding and allowing it to become a huge crack that they then get to charge for a new windshield.

I opened a live chat to enquire about the huge difference in price from one town to the next. The chat was abruptly closed by the agent and when I opened a new chat I got the same agent. When I asked Elizabeth Q to not close the chat she let me know they had 1 minute without a response and then had to close the chat. When I said I answered her she rudely said I did not, when in reality she decided to ignore that I had told her what screen I was on already in the chat. In a way it was a good thing. I found a local glass repair that was $200 less and I will now use them and never use Safelite again. They need to train their CS reps to not be combative with customers. I have used them for years, but no more.

I had a very small (tip of a pen) size chip in my windshield that I thought I should get repaired before it became a crack where I would have to get the windshield replaced. My friend recommended Safelite and that was the worst decision I've made. The technician arrived and literally took 3 hours to repair. He kept starting and stopping and then had to leave to get a piece of equipment. Not knowing I thought he was going above and beyond but to my surprise and dismay upon waking this morning I find a crack that's about 12 inches long extending on both sides of the "repair".

When I called I was told 'oh, then we'll refund your insurance company and start a windshield replacement' but that I should check with my insurance company for my deductible. I asked them about the warranty/guarantee they splash all over their ads etc... To this I was told "that's only for replacements, not repairs". I feel scammed and will have the replacement windshield done with another (reputable) company. I don't feel safe using Safelite and would not suggest anyone use them for any reason. By the way, the replacement is done through my insurance with no out of pocket costs so Safelite's scam didn't work for them. NEVER USING THEM AGAIN FOR ANY REASON!

I visited the Santa Fe location on November 8 to have my windshield replaced on my Subaru. The technician recalibrating it LOST my key fob (set it on top of the car when he drove away). This required him to return (on foot) to the shop...I had to be taken home to get my second key fob, then return to get my car. This took place on my one day off in November (I'm a teacher). It ended up taking MOST of the day --- (My appointment was at 9:00). I was assured by the manager that this would be taken care of. I was told that the part would be ordered, and I would receive a new key fob.

I heard back from him in December and another agent told me that the key fob was in but the other 'part' for programming the fob was still in transit and it would be in any day. I had hoped that I would be able to visit my dealership and get this reprogramming done over the winter break, and that did NOT happen. Since December, I have tried reaching out both to the manager's direct number and the Safelite Santa Fe location. I have left FIVE voice mails for the manager over the past several weeks. He has never returned any of my calls. I left a message at the store number. No one has returned my call. I have tried to be patient in this situation, recognizing that mistakes happen, but my patience is done.

I have used Safelite without incident in other cities. I am really disappointed in the outcome of this situation--especially as it was caused by human error on their end --- and nothing to do with my car. I have emailed the corporate office and hope I will get a resolution. In the meantime, I would not use this business again.

I couldn’t get into the store good enough when an employee came from the back, opened the front door, looked at my truck and yelled to the person at the counter that my truck was lifted. Got to the counter and met with Luis and he appeared agitated and rudely told me he could not service my vehicle. After asking why, and him rudely telling me to go back to my insurance company he threatened to call the Police on me. For a dispute about service, not a crime. It leads me to believe that Safelite has issues with persons of color.

The leadership and general counsel of Safelite does nothing to rectify customer concerns regarding racism and discrimination. They lost my business forever. Safelite has a lot of work to do with diversity and inclusion in its workplace. If you look at upper management, there are ZERO persons of color. That should tell you something. Thanks Safelite for continuing to condone racism within your company. I came to their place and their technician told me it is under warranty. They made a appointment for me to replace it but when I came today, their technician told me "your window was beaten by something, we did Not notice that last time so you have to pay for it out of your own pocket." Then their technician point at the "small point" and said "that is the hitting point on your window." I could not even see it. I asked, "how could you not find it last time." They said, "our last time checking technician is new."

Last time they did not find it, now they told me my window is hit by something so it is not under warranty. I guess they don't want to fix it and this time they find a excuse to refuse service because I am not professional about vehicle or just because I am **. They did not find any hole on my window, I think they made this new hole with their nail. This is the way how they treat customer. Awful, awful company. I had my windshield repaired by them in July 2022. I immediately noticed that the bottom of the windshield wasn't meeting the rubber gasket below it (I was assured that this part was just aesthetic and had nothing to do with keeping water out of the car). Regardless, it is meant to meet the rubber anyways, no one wants to see a gap between the two.

Anyways, when the weather turned to fall, I started noticing condensation on the inside of my windshield and instrument cluster. After noticing it a second time, I put a warranty claim in with Safelite to have the problem rectified. I brought my car in for the warranty claim a few days before Christmas 2022. They replaced the windshield and I went on my way. Later that night, I went out to move my vehicle and once again noticed condensation all over the inside of my windshield. I gave it a few days, but the problem did not subside. I again reached out to Safelite to remedy the issue, except this time I went to a different shop at the advice of my insurance agent.

I brought my car in on 12/31/22 for another warranty claim. I explained to the front desk person what the issue was, and he immediately asked "does the car have a sunroof". Now this should have nothing to do with a windshield, but this person clearly was looking for a scapegoat if he could find one. At any rate, they had the car for about an hour and I received a call from this front desk individual named Michael. Michael proceeded to tell me that the "bead underneath the windshield was 100% intact and that 100% there was no way water was getting into the car beyond this bead. I explained that I had photos and video evidence to the contrary, but Michael stood by the company line because what else could he do. I explained to him that I would be looking into alternative options to have this problem corrected as I know the issue will spring up again since they didn't do anything to correct the issue.

On top of all that, the windshield is now exposed at the top (again, another gasket up here that should be covering the windshield completely and is not), and their techs didn't even reattach my dash cam/red light detection monitor that plugs into the dash cam. I will be reaching out to my insurance company to see if I can get any assistance from them. I'd like to sue Safelite for their shoddy work, but I don't believe it is an option since I never paid for the work (was covered as a full glass claim by insurance). I don't believe subrogation is a two-way street with an insurance company, but I will see if I can initiate a new claim for a faulty windshield. I may also alert my state's Attorney General to their business practices.

So, about 4 weeks ago I took a rock to my windshield on my 2021 Ram 1500 limited. It left a crack about 8 inches long so I needed a new windshield. Called my insurance company who set things up with SafeLite Auto Glass. Scheduled my appointment and got a call "good luck we have your windshield in stock". On the day of the appointment they called and stated they were sorry but my windshield was not in stock. Okay crap happens. Schedule it again for a week later, once again that was cancel on the day of the appointment with no explanation this time. Reschedule for a week later, they were to show up between 8am - 12pm at my office. My office is right in front of the building where my car is parked so I see the entire front of my office.

At 11:30am I get a text from the installer stating they were there and if I did not respond to the text within 15 minutes they were going to their next appointment. I texted him back within 30 seconds and tried to call his number twice with no response. So, I reached out to his supervisor who reach out to the installer who claims he show up at 10:00am and waited for 15 minutes and then sent me a text. Well, he was never there at 10am and the text I received was at 11:30 so he lied to me and his supervisor. I was informed he was already at his next appointment and could not get back to me until 3pm. I said that was fine. I did throw a bit of a fit and to my surprise my tech showed up 10 minutes later.

As he was getting ready to install the windshield he called me out to let me know he was unable to install the windshield as it had 4 scratches on it. Asked him was it not part of his job to inspect the windshield before he headed out of the shop. His answer was it was too dark when he left the shop this morning. Whatever, so once again it was reschedule for the next week. After all these problems I was assured they would remove the upcharges for new wipers, etc... A week later and here we are today, the tech showed up on time, showed me the windshield and assured me he inspected it before he loaded into his van. Gave him my keys and went back to work. 1.5 hours later he called to let me know he was done so I went to meet him.

First thing he said was good news, the windshield has been replaced. But, the bad news was they would have reschedule another install as there was a part missing that they were unable to replace the rear view mirror. I looked at him and said, "You understand it's actually illegal to drive without one in place." His answer was to talk to his manager. Well I did, and he told me he would call me back once he was able to reschedule the install so I promptly told him no, I would wait on the phone until it was reschedule. He scheduled for 10 days out. I said unacceptable to ask me to drive an illegal car on the road due to this unless they wanted rent me a truck until the issue was resolved. He said that was not an option so I said 10 days is not an option.

Long story short they rescheduled it for 2 days later but was cautioned that the glue they use may not be cured and could drip onto my paint job and cause damage. So, I told him that was a risk they would have to take and repair any damage they cause after all they are asking me to risk my safety in driving without a rear view mirror. I then got a text with a receipt for the charges they told me were removed. This has been by far one of the worst experiences I've had with any customer service company. Not sure how they got so big when they have so many problems. Lets hope in 2 days everything goes well.

I try to get the OEM so I authorize them to order OEM for a quote of $150, so when I arrived, I was told that it was going to be $350 because it was the wrong glass, so of course Safelite blame Geico and Geico blame Safelite. So you know we are caught in the middle, so I got so tired of the game that I told them that the after market was fine as long as it was matching quality!!!

Well they did not inspect the glass well, and after it was installed the window looks like it has a scratch in the middle and the seals for the middle window are not touching the glass, how is going to stop the water if is not touching in at least 4 different spots??? So their answer so far, they are making me an appointment every week till I get lucky and we get an after market that does not have the defective sections, instead of just put and OEM THAT TO THEIR ADMISSION, IT DOES NOT HAVE THIS TYPE OF PROBLEMS. Even the tint on this window is not as dark as my original and the defogger lines are way spread out so obviously this is a very cheap China product, NOT LIKE THE ONE ON MY TRUCK.

If I could give zero stars I would. Safelite in the Bronx on zerega Ave has the worst service/customer service I've ever experience. Before taking my car, I called multiple times to make sure they had the correct glass because I have a special addition vehicle. They assured me they matched the glass to my specific car. I took my car to have the rear glass installed after a break in. Of course they installed a different glass. Three days later it rained heavy, all the water got in my trunk. I went back and was told there was an air leak and water leak test done and they found no leak. I was told they would fix it but needed a replacement glass to do so as back up. I had an appointment, I showed up to be told, the part never came. They would call me when it arrived in two or three days. Never received a call.

I called a week later to be brushed off and put on hold for 30 mins, every time I called back no one answered. Here's when it gets really interesting, technically the glass was never installed, it is literally pasted/glue on top of my door, there's a rubber piece that is supposed to fit in the seam for the window. Instead it's covering a nice portion of my rear lights. The guy I spoke to responded to all of this with a sarcastic, "Oh wow that sounds messed up," before leaving me on hold for 30 min.

So we scheduled to have a technician come and replace a back windshield on a Mercury Grand Marquis. We had this appointment scheduled out a week before they came to do it. They even told me which technician would be servicing the vehicle that day. Night before he calls to confirm. He leaves it on my voicemail, and he confirms for a Grand Prix. Now I had to go back in my information to make sure that it wasn't an error on my part, which it was not. So I figured he just misspoke over the phone. Well, he was scheduled to be to my address between 8am - 12pm... He gets ahold of me through text to call him. So I do.. He tells me he isn't gonna be able to make it until sometime between 12 to 3pm so I say okay...

It rounds noon.. 1230... I contact him to find out exactly when he will be there..He tells me not until 330pm. So my entire day was shot... Waiting around... Then when he got there he gets out and walks over. He takes 1 look and says, "It's vinyl top." I said, "Yes, it IS a Mercury Grand Marquis! They weren't made without a vinyl top." He tells me he isn't sure if he can replace that window. Says he doesn't know how to go around the vinyl top then says he may not even have the correct window with him. What???! This appointment was made a week prior and you're telling me you don't look to make sure you have the correct windows for the vehicles you will be working on??! You mean to tell me Safelite hires incompetent people that don't know how to do their damn jobs?

I mean the guy was totally uninterested in trying to figure it out... He told me I would have to take it to a auto upholstery place, have them pull the vinyl off and while it sits in that shop I am supposed to make a appointment with Safelite to go to the shop and set the window in.... WHHHAAAATTT? SO NOW, you quote me a 2004 Grand Marquis Mercury.. 540.00... is gonna turn into a 2000.00 bill by the time is all said and done for just a back window replacement on the word of one of these 'technicians'... Oh and it's worth mentioning that he called his supervisor and it was his supervisor that told him that, that is what I would have to do.... Ya know what... Because of that tech's ignorance... I am not using Safelite anymore.

I have chosen to use a local shop which is only charging me 295.00 for the window and installation and they are not even gonna take the vinyl off... Hmm... How is that our small local shop can do something a big bad corp glass place charges more than half for???! Shameful. I used them to replace my front window, 585.99... That went pretty well aside from the hit my wallet took. I would rather pay less for better service at our local shop. Thanks.

Safelite is a SCAM. You call them to come out and fix small cracks in your windshield, they come out and do a half decent job, you still see cracks that look like they haven't been filled, they tell you, "no worries, cracks are still suppose to be visible, but have no fear, we did the job." After following all protocols, several days later, you go to your car, the entire windshield is cracked, starting from that small crack, they supposedly fixed. I call them, they're quick to give you a refund, BUT, not for damaging your windshield. The only solution was, I had to buy a brand new windshield, out of my pocket. That's the catch. They half fix your crack, which is free through Insurance, then force you to buy a brand new windshield, or ride around with a huge crack. Customer service is great though. They're really nice. Lol.

Called Safelite for windshield replacement. Tech came out and said he could not do it. Needed to take to shop. 1 afternoons wasted. Rescheduled and took to shop. New windshield was installed but I noticed defective rubber strip on top and missing molding! Tech never mentioned defect! 2 afternoons wasted. Rescheduled a week later when windshield and molding would be available. 3rd attempt and windshield replacement as well as molding look fine. As I was driving home it started raining and wipers would not work. Stop as I could not see to drive.

Called Safelite. Finally got through to tech. Asked if there was anything I could do to fix wipers. Told to check bolts that hold them onto wiper motors. Bolts were only hand tight and one was missing cover? Tightened as much as possible but still not working and I am stuck on side of road in the rain. I was told come back to shop as they could not come to me for an hour or more and would call back. Waited for rain to stop @ about 5pm and drove home. Never have heard back? “3 Afternoons Wasted." Will get another appointment to fix their mistakes. I will go somewhere else in the future after I waste another afternoon.

First of all, their appointment window is too wide (ex. 7:30 am - 12:00 pm for me today - 09/13/2022). They said in their confirmation email sent to me last night that they would text me when a tech is on his way. I waited and waited. Someone called and left a message at around 12:00 pm, saying, "Hi, this is Steve." So, I called him back right away. It was an automated line (**). I couldn't get to a live person. I hang up and called 800-800-2727 to talk to someone at 12:30 pm. This lady checked my appointment status and told me that I would have to reschedule since the tech called in sick (?!). She even added that is why Steve called you. Steve didn't leave any message in his noon call.

I wasted all morning, waiting for the tech to come and repair my windshield. They even confirmed my appointment by email this morning. They didn't let me know as soon as the tech called in sick. Neither she nor Steve was apologetic at all. I have no idea a business could be this cocky. I swear to god that I will never use Safelite for the rest of my life.

I would not recommend having work done with Safelite Auto Glass at the McKinney, Texas location, for the following reasons; Manager was angry and annoyed from the introduction with our claim, that morning... Informing myself and spouse they were under staff, and stated that the glass for the replacement of our Windshield was not in, ...And that we would need to reschedule the appointment...(We called the day before reference the windshield at the Plano warehouse and it had been since delivered to the Safelite address in McKinney....Only after pressing him (manager) did he go back in his warehouse to confirm and check. (I did it online 8/20/2022 with appointment schedule 9/1/2022.) Later at the time of closing (James) Technician informed it was his last day and that they were unable to calibrate the windshield after several attempts....(Why tell us it's his last day?)

Earlier that morning the manager further stated that they would waive the $250 dollar deductible because of their lack of communication among their staff and miscues...As long as we gave the technician a unblemished score of 9/10s which ultimately affected their pay....We were called at approximately 5:30 pm that evening and we needed to be there to pickup the vehicle, by 7:00 pm ultimately arriving 30 minutes later at 6:00 pm noticing the windshield was in place. I observed through the window at time of pickup no attempt to recalibrate had been observed...James further stated we needed to go to the dealership to have it calibrated....And made no attempt to explain or have a remedy to the situation. To add insult to injury they tore the toll tag off the old windshield and haphazardly slapped it crookedly on the glass leaving also the large window sticker of the new glass on....

I went back in to complain on the shoddy workmanship and asked the manager what about "attention to detail"...That request fell ultimately fell on deaf ears and he stated I could order a new toll tag....It was apparent everyone wanted to get off work as it was the last car for the day.... The following day at Hyundai/Genesis .. The technician (dealership) informed us that it took approximately 2.5 to 4 hours to recalibrate which they accomplished. The Technician (Hawk) further added that they most likely did not attempt or did not have the software for the diagnostic check....to begin with.

I subsequently ended paying $338.00 dollars for the calibration getting reimbursed which ultimately set us out not only the $250 deductible payback but an additional $88.00,...Thankfully USAA our banking institution made us whole. I sent a letter to USAA explaining the very poor customer service and workmanship with this particular location....Finally I would highly recommend those out there to go to their dealership for glass issues....

I recently had my rear windshield broken by vandals throwing a cinder block through it while I was in a parking garage. Called the police, then my insurance company who told me I could call whatever glass company I wanted, or I could use Safelite and they would schedule the repair. I was stranded in a parking garage with just a cell phone, so I opted for Safelite. The earliest they could take me was 2 days later! No coming out to where I was like they show in their commercials. So I had to drive 30 miles home, on highways and bumpy back roads, with glass flying out the back where the window used to be.

When I got home, I had to tape a tarp over the window to keep out rain. Got the window replaced but they did not clean the glass out of the trunk or the back seat of the car. I vacuumed the best I could (not having the powerful industrial strength vacuums I’m sure they had) and 6 weeks later, I’m still finding pieces of glass. I even had to take my granddaughter’s car seat apart to get all the glass out of the cracks, nooks and crannies. What a pain. I would never patronize this company again. Never.

The quality at the Port Charlotte FL location is....well for lack of better description....piss poor. My wife’s 2019 jeep windshield was replaced on 8/2. When she brought the car home after the work she wanted me to look at her windshield wipers. I did and noticed right away they were not timed correctly; they were crossing one another. So of course, I took a deeper dive at the job and noticed the trim at the lower edge of the new glass was damaged. This trim is part of the new glass, it is not off the old glass so clearly it should not be chipped up, cracked, and have what looks like it was gripped with some kind of pliers, which is exactly what it looked like. I also noticed some minor scratches in the paint and where the "technician" was leaning on the car his sweat was left behind on the front edge of the roof, both fenders and hood at both sides of the vehicle and he left his safety glasses in the cabin of the vehicle.

I brought the jeep back right away to show the issues. Immediately management wanted to deny any issues. They could not see any issues with the wiper arms, yet it was clearly obvious they were crossed over each other. They said the car needed a wash and that the sweat makes were not from the “technician” and the scratches were there before any work was done. They tried to discount the damaged trim as if it’s not a big deal.

I did inform the person who was ready to just argue nothing is wrong that this is not correct. When the vehicle came in there was no damage to the window trim, the glass was replaced because of a rock impact that resulted in a long crack. The wipers did not go out of time by themselves and the sweat smears and scratches did not appear by themselves. It is clear the “technician” does not have enough of pride in his work that he never checked his work. If he had checked his work, he would have found the timing issue with the wipers, he would have wiped down where ever he had touched the car and would not have damaged the new glass when he installed it. Secondly if there is a “quality control” within the store, that department failed. Then management to try to deny?

They assume all the customers are ignorant of how things should work. This is a big mistake. I just retired from the automotive repair industry, at many of the places I worked at, this would be a fileable offence. They did agree to re-replace the glass on 8/8 and during the time I was showing the crappy work agreed to retime the wipers right then and there. So as of now the wipers do work correctly, I’ll inconveniently drop off the car to have the crap work reworked on 8/8 and hope someone else who actually cares about the work they do does the job.

Safelite replaced my cracked windshield. But they failed to properly seal it, resulting in water seepage and some serious electrical damage. They refused to pay, citing their warranty required me to notify them before making any repairs. But what they don't consider is:

1....the fact that we couldn't have known what the cause of the electrical issues were until after the repair shop removed the dash and found a rusted out fuse box (on a new 2 year old Honda HRV). It was then that the mechanic determined that water had been seeping in under the dash and causing the electrical issues. It was a direct result of the windshield not being sealed properly.

2....Even if we had known the cause, we could not have made an emergency appointment with Safelite prior to the repairs because their calendar was already full. And I sure didn't want to wait any longer on repairing my car. It is my daily transportation.

When I did eventually return to have the faulty windshield replaced, they only re-sealed the existing windshield rather than replacing it. Because Safelite refuses to acknowledge any responsibility, I am having to sue them for the cost of repairs and legal fees. I will never use Safelite again and can never recommend them because of their sloppy work and fake warranty. Now I am having to sue for the cost of repairs.

7/25/2022 2:00PM. When the technician arrived, I made a point of showing him the end seals for the glass which were inside the hatchback door on the respective sides of the vehicle so he could reinstall them. He finished his work and left. I needed to remove some items from the rear of the car. When I opened the hatchback, there was a trim retainer laying there as well as a bunch of the glass pieces from the broken glass. On inspection, I found that the left side trim did not fit as tight as the right side so I assumed that it came from that side. When I pulled the trim panel to install the retainer, I saw that he did not connect the right side wire for the glass heater. With the trim off, I also could see that he did not remove the tape he used to hold the glass in place when he installed it.

I found that the molder rubber end seals were not installed and they were nowhere to be found. Apparently, he took them with him. Without those seals, water tracks horizontally along the glass to the end. With the seals, it is stopped from coming back into the car. Without the seals, water will collect in the hatch back interior of the car. I am very disappointed with Safelite Auto Glass service this time.

So I used Charlottesville VA store as they were closest to us. They came out to my house to replace my 2020 Explorer ST cracked windshield on a Friday afternoon.. After almost 4 hours I was asked if they could come back on Monday. It turned out the windshield they got had the wrong style heat element wiring. So this left me with a SUV I couldn't drive for the weekend. But I was promised it would be fixed Monday. Monday rolls around and I received a text the tech would be onsite between 1-5. When 5pm came and went I called the manager Everet at the local store, and he said they didn't have me on the books for today. When I explained my car was undrivable, he promised to send someone out first thing in the morning.

Tuesday rolls around and the tech comes out and addresses the crack windshield. However when trying to reassemble my SUV, he was left with an extra screw and 2 panels in the interior. He could not figure out how to put them back and a missing rain sensor, that the other tech kept and forgot to give it to him. After 2 hours being on the phone with his techs in the store, he explained I would need to bring the car into the shop to fix. So I drove the hour to the store and met with the manager. He was sorry for the trouble and agreed to refund me 150.00 dollars for the recalibration fee they charged me 250.00 dollars for.

Note: Ford only charges 100.00 for the same recalibration. Well it has been 2 months and many phone calls of unkept promises from the manager. And still no refund for the worst SafeLite experience ever. I would not recommend this store, except for a girl tech named Anne, who was able to figure out the 2 interior panels and install the forgotten sensor in about 20mins.

I have a new Ram truck that got a chip in the front window right after I bought it. I took it to Safelite located at 26175 Jefferson Ave, Murrieta, CA on March 18, 2022 and after talking to the Rep. I decided to get the chip filled instead of a window replacement.

I was told if I didn’t like the results they would apply what I paid ($123.83) for the chip repair toward the cost of a new window if I was buying it or to the copay if I was going through my insurance. Needless to say I didn’t like the results so I called my insurance company and opened a case to replace my window with factory glass. On April 9th, 2022, I went down to the same Safelite office I mentioned above to get my window replaced.

When I got there I thought I would just have to pay the difference from my $250 insurance co-pay and the $123.83 that I already paid. But they told me I had to pay my full insurance co-pay ($250) so there would be no issue with the insurance company complaining as to why I didn’t pay the full co-pay and then I would get $123.83 refunded back to me. Will I waited for weeks and never got any refund. So I called Safelite to ask why I haven’t received my refund yet.

Let me say, trying to get through Safelite’s automated phone system to speak to a person is ridiculous. When I finally got through to a person, I was told they don’t do that and I will not be getting a refund.

Will, I wasn’t happy and told her that “Safelite just ripped me off then and it seemed like they scammed me like a shady sales company would do to get an extra $123.83 out of me.”

I would have never agreed to get the chip repaired with my new truck had I known this would have happened. I had it less than a month and would have just gotten the window replaced from the beginning.

The person I talked to on the phone was flippant with me and said she would have the site Manager where I had the repair done call me and I never received nothing.

I’ve used Safelite many times over the years and even when my insurance company ask me to use another company I told them I wanted Safelite but now, how could I ever recommend or use Safelite again? They just ripped me off! We all see the Safelite commercials and to be honest if they can rip me off they can rip you off as well. Beware!!!

If you have this branch replacing your window, BEWARE!!! They were scheduled to do a rear glass replacement at my home. Before the appointment, I vacuumed all excess glass from the rear door area. My rear door was fully functional. I then left the van parked for the remainder of the week (4 days) only duct taping plastic over the damaged rear window. My wife was home when the technician arrived. After working on the replacement for an hour, the technician tells my wife that the rear door will not open/close. He tells her that he has to take it to the shop (15 min. drive w/traffic) across town. 3.5hrs later, my wife texts me at work telling me that the technician still has not brought the van back. She then calls the technician asking where is he with the van. He responded that he'll bring the van back. A total of 4hrs had passed that the van was taken from our home.

Upon returning the van, the technician told my wife that the door was STILL unfunctional, gave her a receipt and left. When I got home from work (10min after the tech left), she tried to explain what the tech explained. The next day (on a Sat.), I went to the location to question the details, but nobody was there that knew the details. Went back there on Mon (after work) and spoke with the Assist. Mngr. He explained that the "story" that they are sticking to and he ended it by saying, "There's nothing we can do about it. It's mechanical. We only replace windows." He suggested I take it to the dealership to get the door fixed. The first incident of them denying responsibility for damaging my rear door. Now at this time, there was no paperwork or report detailing anything that was being said that documented what happened with my van.

After going to the dealership (and an additional $160 later), the dealership diagnosed the door issue (in 30min) and showed me that the door will not function because it was misaligned. They gave me documentation of the diagnosed findings. I returned to the Cherry Hill location, with the documentation, explained what was discovered. I was told that the manager would give me a call on Mon. I received no call on Mon. I called Tues-Thurs with the same result; automated voice service that leads to an ended call never speaking to any person.

The following Tues, I appeared back at the location and reluctantly spoke to the same Assist. Mngr. that I had spoken to before. Now that I have proven this responsibility falls on them, he asked me what am I looking forward to resolve this. I said that I want my door fixed and reimbursement of the $160 spent for the dealership diagnosis. This begins 2nd incident of them denying responsibility. He continuously attempts apologizing but still "sticking to the story" and tells me that he will have the manager call me. When the manager called, I explained to him all of the facts:

    1. The door was functioning perfect before the tech arrived for the appointment.
    2. The tech worked on the window replacement, for an hour, at my home claiming the door was not functioning after the window was replaced.
    3. The tech took my van from my home, to the shop for 4hrs, returning the van STILL with the door not functioning. Presenting my wife with only a receipt of payment.

    4. Following the advice of Safelite, I took the van to the dealership and the dealership was able to determine the door is misaligned and provided documentation of their findings.

I then asked the manager where is the documentation of his tech's findings. The manager admitted that there is none, but began "back-peddling" by saying, "The receipt is documentation." From this point on, the manager refused to admit responsibility. I then demanded that he present every document that the office has on file in reference to the service of my van ready for me to pickup after I get out of work. All that was provided, was a computer version of the receipt of payment. No report or documentation, of any kind, has been presented as evidence that there was no fault on their behalf.

The warranty is not transferable. The windshield has less that 25k miles on it. Now I'm stuck with a huge repair bill. BEWARE!! Terrible company. Read and believe the bad reviews.

I've been working on my 1998 Ford E150 for about 7 months now restoring it and preparing it for travel around the US. I've reached the point where I'm about to paint the van and decided to have the windshield replaced due to some scratches and a couple of small chips. It did not need to be replaced but figured since I'm restoring it and before I paint it, it would be nice to have new glass to look out of.

I used the Safelite website to order the replacement glass, ordered it for $425.67 (incl. FL tax) and was provided a date for installation - cool. The date arrives, the tech comes at ~8:15AM looks for rust around the windshield, sees none, then proceeds to pull the windshield out. Awesome, I'm going to have new glass today!

After about 10 minutes I go out to see how things were going and the tech tells me he's glad I came out, he found some rust under the molding and should be able to sand it out and prime it for the seal to take. Perfect. Can't wait for it to be done. Another 20 mins goes by and I go back outside to see where things are at and the tech informs me that there is a small hole where the rust was and he cannot install the windshield. I said "I can fix that in no time. A little body filler and primer/paint and we’ll be good.” And the installer tells me they will not install the windshield with body filler used. Instead the tech informs me I should have the vehicle towed to a local body shop (~$120.00), have them cut out the metal, weld in new metal (~$300.00+), then they'll come back out to install the glass (for a total of ~$850).

OK, so what if I don't have the money to pay another ~$500.00 to have this done? Oh I'll tell you what... They expect you to be without a vehicle until you do. I was left with a vehicle with no windshield and some sticky plastic to cover the hole. So Safelite comes out, rips my windshield out, leaves me with no vehicle, and expects that I’m going to have the vehicle towed so someone else can repair the frame? OK, who's going to pay for all that?! Well you are of course.

I get it, they want to avoid any liability in the future. OK fair enough. However, they left my van with a giant hole in it NOW, far bigger than the hole the size go a 5-penny nail. I live in FL where it pours at the drop of a hat and they're going to leave me with NO windshield? What in the actual... Low and behold, it pours that night. I was up at 3AM because I heard it raining, I go outside to check if water is leaking in… it was. I had to pull the van halfway into the garage because it won't fit with the exhaust fan that was recently installed. Now I have to leave the garage door open while I'm sleeping so the inside of the van won't get wet by leaking through the plastic put over the gigantic hole they left to leak and were so afraid of happening in the future.

This is absolutely unacceptable and I do not blame the tech, they’re following Safelite policy. I blame Safelite for their terrible policy of leaving people without a vehicle, a giant hole where the windshield sits, in a state where it pours daily, and expect the customer to fork over money for a tow before they finish what they started. I called the local Safelite office and immediately asked for a refund. They cancelled the order, which when pre-paid issues a refund. I’ve not seen the refund come through yet but apparently from what I’ve read, when a refund is issued you do not get the entire payment back — yeah, let that happen.

I called the corporate office to speak with someone about how to proceed and was informed because there’s a small amount rust, nothing can be done until it’s “professionally” fixed. I asked to speak with a manager, was put on hold for about 10 minutes and was told they were on the line with someone else and I would get a call back. 2 hours went by and I called again and was put through to the district manager (DM). I informed the DM how dissatisfied I was for being left in this position: stranded to my home with no windshield to get anywhere. It could be weeks before someone got to my van. I went to a mechanic to have some things looked at and it was 2 weeks before they could get me in.

The DM said they would call the local shop to see what they could do for me and stated they didn’t answer so they left them a VM; I should hear from someone soon, they said. It’s now been 5 hours since that conversation and I’ve heard nothing from anyone. I’m so beside myself with this. As a former business owner and contractor, I would NEVER put a paying customer in such a position and, to me, it’s absolutely unacceptable. The lifetime warranty is already void because of the issue, therefore, let them fix it and sign a waiver of liability. You do not leave them stranded and force them to pay hundreds more.

What if someone didn’t have the money? Money is not the issue here for me, it’s principle. I’ve done plenty of body work in my days and I know that Butyl sticks to pretty much EVERYTHING, not just factory painted metal. I will never use this company again and I won’t ever recommend them to anyone. Great customer service, Safelite. Absolutely horrendous.

Horrible experience with Safelite. 2011 BMW 3281. 6 inch crack in windshield from rock on the beltway. First attempt to repair left with 3 inch gap in the weather stripping. I called it in as a warranty situation and a different tech came out and attempted to fix it. He left the car with a broken windshield and black sealant handprints all over the car. That was called in again for warranty and I was informed that I had to wait two weeks for the sealant to set from the botched install before the glass could be replaced again. Two weeks later a third tech came out and replaced the broken replacement glass.

I thought that was the end of it. But now when it rains my floorboards fill with water. I noticed the trim/molding near the glass was not seated properly. A month later I had the car in for other service and pointed out my concerns. They informed me that many of the clips on the trim, should and cowl are broken and all that will need replacement, $1200. I do not trust Safelite to ever touch my car again, warranty or no warranty. After disassembly of the area to gain access, they discovered additional amateur attempts with the black window sealant caked up and spewed everywhere. While they were attempting to razor knife away all the excess sealant, they ended cracking the cheap aftermarket windshield.

They are replacing that with genuine BMW glass at their expense. They use the same installer for glass that the local BMW dealers use. I called my insurance company for help, but they said all warranty issues must go through Safelite and there was no recourse from them. Safelite is dead to me. They will never touch my car again.

On December 20, 2021, I brought my vehicle to my local Safelite Autoglass (Columbia, MO) for a warranty repair on a windshield they previously replaced in November, 2019. Safelite advertises a "Nationwide Lifetime Warranty" which sounds fantastic, however, that's where their service ends. The windshield I purchased from Safelite developed a stress crack that began on the edge of the driver's side, and progressed toward the passenger side. There was no impact, or evidence of such. In fact, glass impacts caused by projectiles leave very, very clear evidence in the form of: concentric fracturing (spiderwebbing) and compressed glass. Think of *any* bullet hole in glass, or *any* time a rock cracks a window or windshield. It was painfully obvious the windshield simply developed a crack due low quality manufacturing, poor installation, or possibly both.

Upon scheduling the warranty repair and taking my vehicle in on the Dec. 20th, the technician commented "Oh, this is a warranty repair. Let me look at the crack." Sure, no problem. The technician looked at the crack, felt it with his hand several times, looked at it from several angles, then removed a pen from his pocket, and traced it along the length of the crack, back and forth, until he stated he could "feel something" that indicated an object struck the windshield, causing the crack and voiding the warranty. Whatever the technician "felt" could not be observed by the naked eye. I told the technician I couldn't see what he was referring to, and he stated it was extremely faint, and "wouldn't take much" to crack one of their windshields.

I've spent at least three weeks going back and forth with Safelite and the Better Business Bureau, to no avail. After contacting the BBB, a customer service agent contacted me, promised I would receive additional calls from regional management to conduct a second inspection, etc... Of course, none of that happened, and after reaching out to the BBB again, I was told by Safelite a second inspection was not necessary, as their technician "clearly" found an impact point, though they refused to reveal what evidence suggested such. I strongly feel Safelite advertises a false warranty, and upon reading other complaints and reviews, it is clear they regularly use similar "mystery" impacts to deny many other customers, as well. I deeply regret conducting any business with Safelite, and will continue to share my experience with others given any opportunity to do so.

I was referred to Safelite by Geico to replace my driver side glass. I have paid them the full cost of replacement and still after 3 month the replacement is not completed and they have caused me so much trouble. Here is a summary of my experience with Safelite: 1. I made an appointment and after about a month, the technicians showed up at my place (I paid extra for mobile service) with a new glass which upon opening the box in front of me they discovered the new glass is shattered! 2. The technicians left and found another glass at a warehouse and came for glass replacement, however they were obviously unskilled in replacement and they were trying to figure out how to do the replacement on-site which I found very strange.

    3. When I used my car in a couple of days I realized the new installed window would not close. A new technician was sent to fix the issue after a few weeks. 4. The new technician told me that the window does not close due to poor glass installation which caused damage to molding and he will get a new molding installed. We also discussed the installed glass low quality and he said he will have a new high quality glass installed.

    5. After he left, I made multiple attempts over several weeks via phone to get the next appointment scheduled, stating that the window does not close and it gets cold inside the car. The response I got over the phone was things like "this is not our problem" and often they did hang up the phone without addressing my questions or helping to make an appointment. 6. After several weeks a Customer Advocate reached out via email and made an appointment for a technician to come fix it on 12/28 but no one actually showed up that day. This whole thing has been going on for ~3 months!

Definitely do not recommend. As I am writing this, my car is still not finished, and they have provided absolutely terrible customer service. I had an appointment a week ago to get my windshield fixed in my driveway. The technician came out and told me that I would have to bring it to a body shop because there was rust under the windshield. Fine, I understand that so I found a body shop and left the car there and let Safelite know where it would be.

The technician called yesterday morning and said he was on his way there, but failed to update me at all throughout the day. I finally called the technician on his number at the end of the day. He said he was just waiting for the body shop to finish but he wouldn't have time to do it that day so he would be back the this morning. I have had no update from the technician all day. I called his number and got no answer. His voice mailbox was full. I tried calling the company. Everyone I spoke with was completely unhelpful, and some were just outright rude. I asked for a supervisor and someone from the office named Steph called back (and I don't know where this was since there are a lot of different locations and numbers and no one seems to know what is going on). I asked if they had an update on my car and she said no, that someone just told her to call. She was absolutely unhelpful.

I tried the website, and my appointment could not be found, so I tried webchat. I was provided a different number online which connects to a different auto glass place (Champion auto glass??), and the voicemail just says: "I can't pick up now, please call back." No info about who I was calling or where they were. Everyone I talk with tells me something different. They were all extremely rude and unhelpful. I ended up screaming at them in frustration, which I know is not productive, but I am not sorry. They are horrible. They don't seem to have any way to contact their technician.

The Safelite people told me it was my responsibility to coordinate with the body shop, even though the technician had told the body shop yesterday that he was coming back. I spoke with the body shop again, who said they were done and were just waiting on him to come by and finish, since that is what he told him he would do. I called the company again to let them know that I had spoken again with the body shop, and that they were just waiting on the technician.

Now, Safelite said that the body shop would have to be the one to call them, even though I just told them that I had just spoken to the body shop and they were just waiting on the technician. The body shop is calling them now, but they are equally frustrated and says that someone has screwed up. I am still waiting on my car to be finished, and I not only did I have to take time out of work to try and contact these people, but I have not had access to my car so my family could get things done today. I really wish I could use a different company to finish this because I really don't want them to get any money for this. I will never use them again.

I had my front windshield replaced on my 2021 Subaru wrx on 11/27/2021 in Dothan Al. My appointment was actually on 11/26/2021 and their office is 1 hour and 45 minutes from my house. I get there on the 26th and they take my car back. Then they call me to the desk saying that they got my glass out and the new one won’t fit and can’t release my car to me as it’s not drivable. Said the warehouse sent the wrong glass. The office manager drives me home and tells me to come back the next day on the 27th and it will be ready. I picked up a trailer and drove back over to get my car. It was finished. I then hauled the car the next day to Schenectady New York On my way up I realized that there was no windshield molding around the glass and there’s a 3/4 of a inch gap between the edge of the glass and the windshield frame.

I called the store manager in Dothan Al. and explained to him that the molding was missing. He acted like he could care less and said several times that the molding is just for Cosmetics but if I had a problem with it the glass and install had a warranty and to just get with a branch in New York to do a warranty issue to get it fixed. I set up a warranty appointment with the Latham New York branch. A technician called me asking what exactly was the issue? I told him that the molding was missing and with the snow and ice being up north I’d like to have it put in plus the car came with it so it’s only right that it be replaced, it should be covered. He said to let him check to see if he had the parts to do it and he would call me back. Never heard another word from him.

My appointment to go to that office was for 12/4/2021 at 1:00pm. Since I never heard back from anyone I called the office on the 4th to see if there was any use in even bringing the car for the appointment. A guy asked me for my number and looked at the system notes. He says no. The parts show on order but no ETA. He said someone will call me soon as it comes in. Here it is now the 9th and still no word from anyone about anything. I took it upon myself to just order the molding from the manufacturer myself because I don’t want to keep waiting on Safelite to not call again like they’ve already been doing and meanwhile salt and ice works its way around the glass and seal. The molding will be at my address on the 13th. How can I get the part so fast but a company that specializes in this field can’t? I stress to anyone to STAY AWAY FROM SAFELITE! The guys promised to order and replace, ended up ordering a wrong glass, then complained that they can not order and/or install the right glass. Meanwhile they took the old front windshield out and disassembled the plastic around the windshield and did not put it back; obviously the crack increased in size and now it was along the whole glass. They put the old one back, improperly (it was shaking), and to my question whether or not it is safe to drive like that (I was going for a long, 1000+miles drive), said that it's safe.

Do Yourself a Favor – Stay Away From This Business! If you’re considering taking your car to Safelite AutoGlass for repairs, please read this review so you understand up front how they operate. This business has very poor management, their workmanship is not consistent, and they are very inconsiderate of their customer’s time. Last January, I brought my Mercedes in to have the rear passenger window replaced due to a break-in. An older guy, who looked like he had a lot of experience, worked on my car. When he was finished, I checked it over, paid the bill, and gave him a tip for doing a great job. (Note: there is a window between the waiting room and the shop so you can watch the technicians working on your car).

Last Saturday, I brought my 4Runner in to have the windshield replaced and was not happy with the results. The guys who did the work were young - they were careless with my car and did sloppy work. They chipped the paint in several places, and one of the molding pieces doesn’t fit right because the guy damaged it when he yanked it off the car (I saw him do it). Also, there was a lot of excess adhesive on the car body around the windshield.

When they were finished with my car, I met one of the technician around front to look it over and pay - I told him I was not happy with their workmanship. Basically, he argued with me and gave me a bunch of excuses why the job should be acceptable. I was caught off-guard by all this and didn’t handle the situation the way I should have. I was expecting my car to look good, pay the bill and be out of there, but this was not the case. I asked him numerous times about the excess adhesive on the body, and he just kept saying, “That will come off.” He never once said anything about them taking it off for me, he just kept repeating himself, “That will come off.” He must have said it at least 6 times!

The molding on the passenger side of the windshield looks good, but the piece on the driver’s side has a bulge and a large gap. Once again, we went back and forth – I told him it didn’t look right and he kept repeating himself, “That’s how it went back in. It’s ok.” When I refused to go along with his argument, he said, “Well, this is an older car.” He repeated that numerous times. I wasn’t expecting all this drama and it completely caught me off-guard. In hindsight, I should have asked to speak to a manager and refused to pay until they fixed these issues, but I had been there for over 3 hours and needed to leave because I had someone waiting on me, so I paid and left.

What the technician was basically saying is that because it’s an older car, I shouldn’t expect the work to look perfect. That is ** because I have another 2003 4Runner just like this one and Gerber Collision replaced the windshield 2 years ago and it looks really good – there are no chips in the paint, they didn’t leave excess adhesive all over the place, and both of the side moldings look great.

In the past 12 months, I’ve taken 2 cars to this shop for glass replacements. Both times, I made an appointment, drove out to the shop, sat in the waiting room for over an hour, only to be told they didn’t have the correct glass for my car and I would have to come back. Evidently, this problem is very common with Safelite. While I was there last Saturday, the same thing happened to a woman who had been in the waiting room for over an hour.

I spoke to another woman who said this was her second trip - she left her car there for 4 hours, received several text messages that they were working on it, and then a message that it was finished and ready for pick-up. When she returned to the shop, she said her car was still parked where she left it, and nothing had been done. I made 2 trips to this place, spent over 3 hours there on Saturday, and the work they did was shoddy. To make matters worse, I had to deal with this guy who argued on and on with me that everything was ok and then asks me how I’m going to pay for it… What a NIGHTMARE!

The manager of the Westchester store then was rude and defended his driver. No customer service. Now going to corporate and to local police to resolve. They are very hostile to their customers. Wasted an hour and a half of my day and 30 miles round-trip in a full-size truck. I called and asked if they would be able to come to my house and do it there and they wanted to charge me $20 more. The person on the phone said there was no one there that could do anything about it. All I would've asked for is a phone call letting me know that they are shortstaffed and that there's going to be a wait I could've save myself a trip and rescheduled. There are no less than six people in that office. All on the phone. One of them could've called me.

At some point he realized it and stopped pulling, but it was too late, it no longer works. I called them to tell them and was told that I needed another technician to come out to ensure I am not lying. They made appointment from 1200-1600. I left my car and drove my wife's. Here is the Story in an email written to Safelite in 2019 that goes unanswered to this day: I never received a response to my survey response to the Safelite Warranty not being honored due to rust that was from a replacement done by Safelite in 2009 on my vehicle that cracked in June 2019. It has been just about 1.5 years with no response. This morning 3 6 21 I went to a Safelite Dealer with the same cracked windshield in the same (upper right corner passenger side).

I was told by Technicians this was not a Safelite problem and the stress crack was due to rust. I have been driving around with Safelite Windshields for over 10 years. The windshield leaked causing rust to my car body and now I am told to get to the street and find a Body Shop? This is not right and it is not fair. Why is the rust my problem when the vehicle had no rust when the first Safelite windshield was installed in 2009? Now I am told by Safelite technicians that I need to go to a Body Shop for what I am sure will be an expensive repair involving cutting and welding new steel on my Car Frame as well as a new windshield.

    Something is not adding up.

Safelite needs to respond to my critique of July of 2019 about why you do not honor your Warranties. Rust was not present when the first windshield was installed in 2009. Rust was present when the second windshield was installed in 2019. Rust was present when you attempted to install the 3rd windshield this morning in 2021. And an email was sent today 4 6 21 that I "cancelled" my appointment. This is NOT TRUE. Your Technicians said they could not install the new windshield due to rust (which in my opinion was caused by a faulty installation of a windshield in 2009 by Safelite)-THAT IS THE TRUTH. I DID NOT CANCEL THE APPOINTMENT FOR THE RECORD. Stop playing Games about honoring your Warranty. If I do not speak to a QAQC Manager in the next 3 days I will post this Tale of Woe on every website I can think of.

In July 2019, I had Safelite (San Rafael, California) replace a damaged windshield on my small RV built on a Sprinter Van chassis. I was charged $1,264.60 to have the windshield replaced with an OEM windshield that was ordered specially for my replacement. When the tech was finished and washing the windshield, he noticed an issue at the top center in the dark area where the camera was located. He called over another employee to examine it. I was told that there was a small crack but that it would not be a problem because it is in the dark area and would not be visible.

Due to covid, I did not use the RV until January 2021 when I moved to Florida. My RV was then parked in an RV garage that was built as a part of my new home. It again sat there until May 2021, when following my vaccination for covid, I prepared it for a Memorial Day trip. I then noticed that the crack had extended from the dark area into my driver's field of view. I took it to the nearest Safelite in Florida to have it repaired under warranty. A tech examined the crack which had circled through the dark area and out and then declared that the crack was due to a rock hitting the windshield and, therefore, it would not be covered under warranty. I certainly would have known if a rock had hit my windshield and that had not happened.

I asked for another tech to examine it and the first tech retreated into their back area and another tech eventually emerged. He spent some time examining the crack and eventually also stated that it was due to a rock hitting it and that it was, therefore, not covered by their warranty. He then gave me a quote for replacement of the windshield and the camera which together exceeded $1000. I declined. (Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.) I then contacted a local windshield replacement company with great reviews. I was charged $500.24 to replace the windshield. The existing camera was transferred to the new windshield and everything works fine.

After paying the tech, I asked him to examine the damaged windshield to see if he could determine the cause of the crack. He did so and said that there was nothing obvious and sometimes windshields are just defective. I asked him if there was any indication that a rock or anything had hit it. He said that there was nothing to indicate that it had been hit by a rock or anything. So, if you want to pay twice as much for a windshield with a ** warranty, go see Safelite. They need help to pay for their fancy buildings and all of that TV advertising.

I am deeply disappointed with their predatory insurance claim pricing policy. Prior to filing an insurance claim for a windshield replacement, I received a Safelite OEE (Original Equipment Equivalent) windshield quote for $320 plus taxes and additional fees. However, I went through their insurance comprehensive claim process and paid my $500 deductible for an OEM (Original Manufacturer Equipment) windshield. But, was told by the local Safelite associate the day after the installation, that because the OEM windshield was not in stock the OEE windshield was installed and the $500 deductible was still assessed, as well as an additional $304 bill to my insurance.

I called Safelite’s Las Vegas local office to ask for clarification on why I am required to pay more for an OEE product going through my insurance, and was told that it is their existing agreement with the insurance company. The Safelite associate told me there was nothing that could be done and I’m liable to pay my deductible regardless of the windshield that is installed. I requested to speak with my insurance company to ensure they are aware of the practice and we completed a three way call to confirm the policy. The insurance representative recommended we withdraw the insurance claim and go with the cash payment option. When the cash payment option was provided the $500 deductible was refunded and a cash payment of $449 was assessed to me directly.

If Safelite was transparent in their windshield replacement pricing, prior to installation, I would not have chosen to pay $449 for an OEE windshield that was originally quoted at $320, plus taxes/fees. In addition, in the selection process when completing a windshield replacement with an insurance claim the consumer is not allowed to strictly select the OEM preference. Consumers are allowed to pay their deductible without any refund option with Safelite, even if the OEE option is less expensive than the the consumer's deductible, while also charging the insurance company additional fees. This is highly disingenuous, predatory, and misleading to consumers who seek a quality product from what is marketed as a reputable and honest company.

Consumers should be aware of the predatory insurance claim policy and ensure that Safelite is not overcharging them or their insurance for an inferior product. It is disappointing that Lexus of Las Vegas recommended their services without understanding the predatory pricing policies practiced. Stay away and shop around for other windshield replacement options. Attached are an invoice copy with inflated prices assessed to my insurance and myself, and a copy of the original quote for an OEE windshield replacement.

I made an "online appointment" with few questions in regard to my windshield HUD (a specialty I had no clue about). Six days later I drove to Sunland CA, and had the window replaced. After 10 days of a road trip, I decided to wash my dirty auto and lifted windshield wipers. The right wiper became caught in the towel, came apart, and smacked the right corner of the window, and cracked it.

When I returned to the company the following day to challenge the quality of the glass, I was told that my windshield was an aftermarket product from reputable manufacturer. Indeed, I was under the 'impression' that I was purchasing OEM. Their web did not state that OEM was available for purchase, nor their employees have explained that this option is available. After speaking to a salesperson, then an assistant manager, they proclaimed that it's not their problem that I was not well informed. Also, the salesperson claimed that the OEM HUD windshield replacement would cost me $1800, an expense I would be willing to endure for a quality product. I am planning to challenge this purchase with the corporate department. A national company such as Safelite should be ashamed to practice such fraud. Small claims court is next! I noticed couple of cracks on my windshield so I claimed the insurance and Geico patched me up with them and first time they replaced with the aftermarket glass. That had terrible amount of ripples and distortion so upon calling them back and demanding the OEM glass, they worked out with Geico and replaced the windshield again with the OEM and that has more ripples and distortion than the previous cheap Chinese ones they installed before.

I am so frustrated at this point because it's affecting my driving experience and keep claiming the lifetime warranty is not the solution. Unless you know their direct location number, you are out of luck, the phone bot will tell you to go to their website and then hang up! Are they carrying fake/disputed OEM glasses? I don't know, 90% possibility but I will never recommend Safelite to anyone. Unfortunately, I did not read the reviews provided here otherwise I would never have tried to have the small rock chip repaired. After my failed chip repair I was told that machines do the repair of rock chips now, not humans and it is with pressure forced sealing of the chip. There are also heat and cold issues that can contribute to failures among other things. My repair was done in September in Southern Texas during hot weather. Although at a glance you see their workmanship guarantee and feel comfortable but after reading all the gibberish, in layman terms the guarantee only offers you a credit of what has been paid toward a new windshield, NO WONDER THERE ARE SO MANY FAILED chip repairs!

Zero stars, if possible. I purchased a repair of a tiny (2 mm at most) chip in my windshield. Before agreeing to the repair I was NOT given in verbal or written form any information about the fact that the repair may cause the crack to open further and require a new windshield. If I knew this damage could happen, I would have never agreed to the repair. Within a week of the work, my chip had transformed into a larger crack requiring a new windshield, which is not possible with authentic parts in my case. Again, I would have never agreed to the repair had I known in advance this could happen.

I notified my credit card (the one I used to pay), who notified Safelite about my complaint. Through my credit card, Safelite returned my money to me. However, Safelite then sent me a threatening letter stating they would send my information to a collection agency. Since then, I have received harassing telephone calls to a telephone number I gave Safelite so they could text me information about the work in progress, not sell or give to another party or company, which they did against my consent. All this and I'm on the do-not-call registry. So, basically, if you want shoddy word and harassment after you complain, then Safelite is the business for you.

I went in for a simple windshield replacement. They said it would be done in an hour and half; it took them 5 hours to replace my windshield. They said they found rust and "fixed" it but they never called me. Last time I checked anytime work needs to be done that it is not on the work order requires customer approval; they never got my approval. I picked up my truck and later that day part of my cowl fell out at which point I found several screws missing and laying out not installed. After replacing my cowl myself I noticed that one of the mounting tabs for the windshield was missing.

Upon further inspection by another glass shop (not Safelite) they said the gap between my roof and top of my windshield was excessive. I have contacted Safelite several times and rather than pay for another shop to get my glass replaced properly they want me to sign a release of liability form that is actually partially illegal. They are refusing to talk to me until I sign this form. So now I will seeking legal action against them as well as contacting their CEO directly. DO NOT HAVE THEM WORK ON YOUR CAR!!! DO NOT SIGN THEIR RELEASE OF LIABILITY FORM BECAUSE IT IS PARTIALLY ILLEGAL!!! They will not take liability for any work they do. They certainly have not taken liability for any improper work they have done to my truck.

I had a broken windshield and need the replacement. I called Safelite for an appointment. It recommended me to make an appointment using its website. After the appointment, a technician came to my house and found that he brought the wrong type of windshield. He then changed the appointment to the next day. A different technician brought a new windshield the next day, after he cut my windshield into several pieces, he found that the new windshield still did not fit. He then glued the old windshield back to my car, and said that he will have to order the correct windshield again. I was scared to death when I drove my glued-back and cut into several pieces windshield to work.

I am glad that my windshield was finally fixed. My friends recommended me to write a review for my experience so hopefully other customers will be able to avoid the same experiences I just had. Therefore, my recommendation is that the company should use the vehicle's VIN number to find the correct windshield instead of the make and year.

Before I get started with the issue, I would like to say that the two technicians Daniel on day one and Isaac on day two were wonderful when it came to being professional and courteous. So now to the issue at hand; I took my 2019 Acura MDX in to have the windshield replaced. Not happy with the overall experience. I had to have two different appointments that I did not make a fuss over but now I need a third appointment...not happy.

At the first appointment they put in an aftermarket glass and the recalibration did not work so they had to order a dealer glass. No communication until I showed back up at closing time. I was the 2nd person to show up at 0730 and my car was still sitting there when my husband picked me up at 0945. I was told the recalibration took 4 hours. They tried to make me think I bought a lemon because it was expressed that due to the way the cameras sat in the vehicle (like wrong) they had issues that happen but not often. It was an Acura defect was how it was told to me. So, I had to sign a paper to drive off with functions not working and unavailable until I returned.

Now on day 2, I arrived at 10AM and was out by 1:30 with glass replaced and recalibration (that was fast). After driving a while, I noticed the idle stop function was still unavailable. I waited till my husband came home and he went over all the settings and determined for whatever reason that function still wasn't available. So, I called Safelite through my insurance and was given the runaround for hours. I actually spoke to numerous people. By the 5th phone call, I determined they have monopolized the industry and it isn't fair. I can't turn left or right without having to deal with Safelite directly instead my insurance company and the dealership. The only way I can go to the dealership is to go back to Safelite (who I don't trust at this point) and let them check the vehicle over.

The manager at Rancho was too much (nice, rude and disrespectful)...go figure. I told him I was going to call the dealership to ask questions as to reasons one of the functions on the vehicle was not available anymore. The manager asked that I not do that because the dealership is going to hear Safelite and already assume something wrong was done. I am not comfortable going back to the Rancho Cucamonga location for multiple reasons and one being the fact that when the manager mentioned it could be a flip of the switch and maybe it got broken but they will take care of it...no thank you. My car is a 2019, I am the first owner and bought the vehicle approximately 2 months ago with less than 10 miles on it. I am tired of going there and tired of repeating the issue to person after person. Enough is Enough!!! Next time dealership!!!

This is a huge gimmick!!! The tech will come and state and I quote "the crack may still show but it will be much less noticeable." I can deal with that verses the crack getting worse in time and less cosmetic issues is okay. I paid $167 for one little not even a pencil head size chip and and 1 and 1/2 inch crack to be filled. The pencil size one had improvement even though there are small hairline cracks around it now but the other looks like he didn't do anything. So what the gimmick is is you are not satisfied with the result they will that the price of the repair off of a NEW WINDSHIELD. If the tech and or the wording in the advertisement has stated...by performing this procedure the cosmetic visualization will likely not change in appearance at all, I would for $167 thought twice about getting this done and simply got the windshield replaced once the crack got to that point.

Then I called the repair tech back to see how this could be fixed and he said there was nothing he could do because the resin has already cured and again, if you are not happy you can always put the price of the repair towards a new windshield which is ultimately their goal. Please DO NOT WASTE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY ON THIS!!!!

This is my second unhappy experience with Safelite. A storm blew a sign into my windshield while I was at work. It was late so I reported the damage to my insurance company via a partner service they use. The next day, I didn't hear anything back so I contacted my local agent who told me to just set up with Safelite myself. I called and was on hold through a phone tree until finally getting a message they are only making appts online due to Covid. Fine, I set up an appt. for the following Monday (6 days later). While setting it up, I used a promo code that was supposed to take $35 off the self-pay price. I asked them to check my insurance because I thought I had $100 deductible on glass. I got a confirmation message that had no price listed but said they were waiting on my deductible.

Later, I received reminder emails and texts that that noted on the bottom that my deductible was $500 (I changed insurance companies and believed my lower glass deductible was included in new insurance but it turned out it wasn't). I was never given a price until the tech called at 8:30 AM the day of the appt. He said since my deductible was higher than the actual cost, it would be self-pay rather than insurance claim. OK. I asked if the price was with the promo code. He said, "You can't use a promo code with an insurance claim." I was confused. This was not an insurance claim once they found my deductible was higher than actual cost.

The tech came and replaced the windshield. I paid full price, figuring I could deal with the promo code issue later, not his fault. It seems to be fine. I installed new wipers last evening and drove it to the store, discovering my windshield washer didn't work. Opened the hood to find the line broken at the point it goes from engine compartment to under the hood. My van is also full of glass, way more than when it initially broke. I went through the whole phone tree thing again, ended up with a recorded message to email or text. I sent a text. Was told broken line was a warranty issue and set up another appt. I'm going on a trip in a few days. I'll take it to the Safelite store. The guy at the counter told me twice it was probably just unplugged. No, it is clearly broken. He looked, went inside, brought out a rubber elbow and pushed the broken ends into it. Woot, the washer works! I'm good with that.

I went back to the text conversation and told them that issue was resolved but there was the promo code issue. Was told, again, "You can't use a promo code on an insurance claim." And I told them that it was not an insurance claim, it ended up being a self-pay. That Safelite removed the promo code and didn't reapply it once it became a self-pay. "Since the job is already completed and invoiced we aren't able to add the promo now" Which I then said it was used prior to job being scheduled and they removed it. "We are unable to apply the code to an insurance claim, promo codes can only be be use for cash claims only." And I paid cash! Then they said the claim was set up by my insurance company. Which it was not. My insurance company never even got the claim from their partner (roadside service and glass claims) once the partner learned my deductible was higher than actual cost.

So to sum it up, the Safelite tech broken my washer line and I was overcharged. The first got a fix (hopefully it will hold up) and the second they don't care. I mentioned this was the second bad experience. The first they came to my house to repair two chips in my windshield. These WERE insurance claims. Guy tells me he has self-pay on the order. I tell him my insurance company was on conference call with with me while adding Safelite into the call to schedule the service. He argues. Then he looks at the chips and decides since it snowed that he can't do the repairs. He says they don't like it when the techs don't do what they came to do. So he called the office and told them--while I am standing in the driveway next to him--that I refuse to allow him to perform the service because I don't want to self-pay. And he left.

I called the store and told them he lied. That I was standing right next to him when he called and that the issue was not my refusal to pay. The issue was him telling me it was not no cost to me insurance claim but a self-pay. And that he apparently didn't want to do the repair. Store guy tells me to bring the vehicle in, they have time to do the repair in the garage. So it got done and it was actually no cost to me. The repairs were not great though. I've had chips repaired before that were barely visible, these were more obvious after repair. I will not use Safelite again and will be letting my insurance company and local agent know about my experiences.

I highly recommend taking photos of your car before any work begins. I recently had my windshield replaced and during the process they significantly scratched the paint off the frame around the windshield. I will preface this complaint with the knowledge that there is currently a recall on my particular paint due to flaking and ultimately that is likely the cause of the paint to flake off, however it’s the highly unprofessional responses and handling of the situation that infuriates me. At the time of the replacement, there was no indication of any flaking paint. The installer came and left and never mentioned anything to me about the paint coming off. I noticed the scratches hours later so I took pictures and submitted them for a claim. Safelite sent someone out to review and take pictures of the damage a few days later.

Shortly thereafter I received a call from the Worcester manager Allen telling me that he reviewed the timestamped photos and that the damage was there before the work started. I argued that there was no possible way it was like that before so he emailed me some pictures. When I looked at the pictures I knew that they were the ones taken that morning because the car was parked in a totally different location (so much for the time stamp). I responded that the photos were taken that day and he claimed to have mistakenly attached the wrong ones and would send over the correct ones.

I did receive another photo that I was told was taken “previously to the install.” I could tell it was taken on the day of the install but it was clearly cropped and was oddly close to the damage. I took a closer look at the picture and realized that there was no windshield in the picture, which I’m sure is why it was cropped so close. The photo was taken after the old windshield was removed but “previously to the install” of the new one.

I couldn’t believe how manipulative and deceptive Allen was being! I called him out on this deception and his only response was that it’s a known issue with the paint and to deal with Toyota since “there is no damage due to the install.” If he had just been upfront with me and acknowledged that the paint flaked off during the removal process due to a known issue with the paint I wouldn’t have had any problem. Instead he lied and tried to deceive me to remove any fault from Safelite. I’m disgusted with how I was treated and I will NEVER use Safelite again.

I have not had windshield wipers since January and it is now May due to a faulty installation by Safelite. My car is a Mercedes and the company knowingly installed the incorrect windshield. They have scheduled repairs and then not shown up on appointed dates and not called or even showed concern that no one showed. For five months they have said that they cannot get a part when a Mercedes dealer is one mile from the local shop. I would recommend anyone but this company.

The Safelite Lie: Trust this sorry company at your peril. If you have watched an hour of cable TV, you know Pascal, the friendly Safelite technician. You know the ad: Two friends on a road trip come back to their car to find their windshield cracked. No problem. They call Safelite and Pascal is out in a jiffy and fixes it on the spot while ‘’the girls’’ enjoy lunch. And, in a happy ending, there’s no charge either, with most insurance. ‘’Safelite repair, Safelite replace,’’ the cheery jingle concludes. You’ve heard it dozens of times. Now I’ve never met Pascal, but let me tell you about my experience with the corporate giant called Safelite, which bills itself as the nation’s ‘’leading’’ vehicle glass replacement company.

At about 2 a.m. on Tuesday, March 3, my car window was smashed on the street near my home in downtown Charleston, S.C. Some knucklehead broke the back passenger window, thinking he had found a prize. Instead, he made off with my wife’s pottery bag, of value to no one but her. I found the bag and the broken pottery a half block away when the sun came up. Not fun but stuff happens.

Enter Safelite. I called my insurer — State Farm — and the agent strongly recommended Safelite. He said he would have a Safelite representative call me. Sure enough, I quickly got a call from a friendly Safelite saleswoman who said the company couldn’t fix my car on the spot like Pascal does, but they could have it repaired by Thursday, or Friday at the latest. In the meantime, I could take it to a Safelite shop where they would install a temporary plastic covering over the smashed rear window. So I drove to Safelite’s store in Mt. Pleasant a few miles from my home.

Then the games began. Friday morning came and it couldn’t be done because the window was not in stock, but it could be done Monday. The Safelite employee apologized. Monday came and Safelite canceled again. And another apology. Then they were going to come to my house and then they were not. Another apology. There was one broken promise after another followed by yet another apology. Try to call Safelite and you got a call center in Who Knows Where? Try to get transferred to the local store and you get the wrong store. Get transferred again to the right store and you get an answering machine. Leave a message and you don’t get a call back. This is the Safelite Hustle.

In one of many subsequent calls, the Safelite representatives told me the saleswoman should have never promised the repair in a few days because the window had to be ordered. Repairing my window, of course, was not the job of the saleswoman — securing my business was, no matter what she had to say. And the repair, I was finally told, would require me to leave my car a full day in the shop. Finally, the day of the repair arrived — Monday, March 16, almost two weeks after my window was broken — and I dropped my car at the Mt. Pleasant shop. A couple hours later, I get a call. “We have some bad news, Mr. **. The dealer sent us the wrong window.” He apologized, part of Safelite’s corporate culture.

This is incredible. I have never experienced such bad service, so much deception, from any business in any industry — not even the airlines. I would not believe anything this company tells me, and you shouldn’t either. I went back, fuming, to pick up my car. They had reinforced the cellophane window, which was designed to last a few days but which was now almost two weeks old and wobbly. The manager apologized. Then it got worse. Leave your car parked on a city street long enough with a faux window and it is going to get broken into again. That is what I feared and that is what happened at 2:30 a.m. on March 18 — 16 days after the first break in — when someone tore off the Safelite cellophane window. I feel like I have been mugged by Safelite.

I eventually got my window fixed — by the dealership, not Safelite. It took two days to order the window and two hours to repair it. The irony is that until last year the Safelite store in Mt. Pleasant was part of a solid locally based company called Glasspro. Over 23 years, Paul Heinauer had been a familiar face on local TV, using his commercials to expand his Mt. Pleasant-based chain to 11 stores. Then last year he sold out to Safelite, the nation’s largest automotive glass company.

This is hardly the first case of a good local company selling out a corporate giant, which quickly proceeds to trash everything the founder built. Safelite, which itself was started by two guys in a junkyard in Wichita, Kansas in 1947, today has 720 locations and is based in Columbus, Ohio. It is a subsidiary of Belron, a glass repair behemoth, based in London and South Africa. It, in turn, is owned by D’leteren SA, a Belgium company traded on the Euronext exchange, ticker symbol DIE. You couldn’t make this stuff up. DIE is a long way from Mt. Pleasant, where Paul Heinauer started his little business all those years ago. And whatever he built died on Jan. 4, 2019, the day the deal closed with Safelite.

She called and told me what the charge was and I thought it was high. I got online and researched and saw that Safelite had online quotes. I thought OK and entered make, model, trim, the fact it had sensors. The quote came back much lower. When I called Safelite they came back with tax, disposal, shop supplies. I told them I know all that and it is on the website. Then they came back with calibration of safety sensors. I explained that I listed that on the options when I obtained the quote. In my mind they are intentionally lowballing quotes to get people to commit. Only business they will ever get from me will be warranty work on daughter's vehicle. I am sure that they are screening reviews on their website. So will find very few negative ones there but I bet it is 50-50 on other sites.

AFTER paying $334 for the appointment, the window pops up that our appointment could not be scheduled at this time and that someone would be reaching out to us within 30 minutes. An hour passed and no one reached out. I chatted with Shaneese who was not helpful and told me to call in as both of our work orders had been canceled. Mind you, we only canceled the one through our insurance. I called the number provided by Shaneese and apparently it was the wrong number for the issue I had.

I was transferred and had to explain what happened again to a woman named Tiffany who would not let me get a word in. She kept telling me that I would need to contact Paypal because she is showing we canceled our appointment when that was not the case, and said that she showed that we did not put a payment method in. I told her and the previous guy I talked to that I had a receipt from paypal, but neither were listening nor were they interested in me sending them a copy of this, since their system showed we weren't charged. I will be charging back this company and making sure that everyone I know does not do business with them. This is absurd.

We got a large rock to our windshield April 2019. Our insurance covered Safelite 100% so we went with them. It was initially great because they came to my work and replaced my windshield. As a busy mom who works full time it was a blessing, until the next day. My window started to vibrate obnoxiously any time we went on the highway or interstate. Over 55 mph and you thought the window was going to fly off.

Initially they said it was the tape I didn’t remove, then it was it needed to be reset, then it was faulty glass. 7 times in their shop for warranty work (by the way now my windshield leaks water every time I go thru the car wash) and 9 months later the manager at the local store tells me they refuse to touch it again. It must be my vehicle and something not caused by them...but if I wanted to go to the dealership and have them look at it, diagnose the issue, they would cover the cost if it was because Of the windshield. He was a total Jerk and basically called me a liar. Again, I am busy and do not have time for any of this but we cannot drive our vehicle outside of town.

Local GMC dealership had my car for 2 hours, reported there was so much double sided tape and glue on my cowl that’s it took them 30 minute to get it all off. Once clean, they reset it and it has been noise free ever since. Safelite did pay for the bill for GMC to fix the issue. DO NOT BRING YOUR VEHICLE HERE IF IT'S MORE THAN A CHIP REPAIR.

Safelite quoted: $319.99 at shop replacement, plus a Disposal fee $9.99, plus tax and $34.99 if it was to be a mobile service. So my mobile service price is about $364.98 plus any other parts and service and tax (differs by state). Called other companies they all ranged around @250.00. Safelite $365.00. Others $250.00. The more glass companies they swallow, the higher the price and the lousier the service. Gotta go and call anyone else to get the windshield.

Here is why I would not use this company: 1. We drove our car to a Safelite office to get a new windshield, after a flying rock cracked our windshield halfway across. They inspected the vehicle, gave us a quote and set up an appointment for several days later, because they had to order the windshield. We were impressed with the initial dealer, and they gave us a very good rate.

    2. Several days later Safelite installer showed up, but with the wrong windshield. We were very concerned, because we had to make a 10 hour drive 2 days later, and they would not be able to get the correct one by that time. In response to our questions and concerns, the Safelite installer assured us that it was perfectly safe to drive a car on a major interstate for 10 hours with the window cracked halfway across. When we asked why we should even replace the windshield then (as the original quote was for about $1,000), he said that really the only reason you need to have them repaired is because it is illegal to drive with it cracked. This gave us pause as we didn't believe him on the safety assurance, but we figured the installer just felt bad about the situation and was trying to reassure us -- not that this is acceptable, but we wouldn't generalize comments like that to the whole company.

The installer also said that the new windshield should be a couple of hundred dollars less because they had mistakenly ordered a heated windshield, when ours was not heated. This made sense and we believed him, so we told him to go ahead and set up a new appointment for the following week at our destination. 3. We got an email confirming the appointment and called Safelite to discuss the quote. You cannot get through to a local office without going through their national phone bank, which is hassle. The national phone bank person gave us a quote that was actually more than our original quote, not $200 less as we were expecting. She said she had no power to quote anything less and would transfer us to the local office that would do the installing, but instead she cut off the call.

    4. We then decided to call around and talk with Glass Doctor and the dealer we bought the car from, to compare quotes. We eventually decided to go with the dealer, even though the cost was substantially more than Safelite, because we were concerned about Safelite's ability to deal with the high tech features of our windshield, and we know our dealer will be accountable and provide good follow up service if needed. As it turns out, insurance would cover the difference between what Safelite quoted and what our dealer quoted. Also, though we did not use Glass Doctor, they were very candid with us and told us that they could not do it for less than the dealer. In addition, while they did not say anything bad about Safelite, they seemed incredulous that Safelite could provide the type of glass we needed for what they quoted.

Finally, Glass Doctor asked us for the VIN right up front so as to ensure they were quoting on the correct windshield. Not sure why Safelite doesn't do that to avoid situations like what happened with us. 5. When I called Safelite to cancel the appointment, I was told that they had no appointment under my name in the system. I insisted that the person search by telephone, and it turns out they did have an appointment that still needed to be cancelled, and she confirmed that it was in fact listed under my name. I felt the Safelite person was making it difficult to cancel the appointment for some reason, because every prior time we had called the Safelite national phone bank (again, huge hassle), they had searched by phone number and found our work order immediately. 6. In retrospect, I am glad Safelite ordered the wrong windshield, because the totality of this experience makes me not trust their quality, despite the lower price.

So it's been a year now going into number two. Safelite as of last month finally found the leak, but the four times one replacement three warranty fixes they claimed the same thing. So finally after finding the leak the claim responsibility but refuse to pay for the damages. I have proof and have given them everything done everything and I have spoke with lawyers, but I'm poor to be honest and cannot afford the 3000$ to retain and move forward, look just have Safelite water test in front of you the owner. And as consumers we have the right to when entering a contract to get every guarantee that comes with it. Look and when they fixed it it was so unprofessional and negligent then next week they offer to pay me basically to bring my car and allow them to cover up the almost criminal what I would call property destruction or vandalism.

I'm willing to show pictures get 3000 looks just to tell the same story. Hey I have the voice recording saying they agree they are responsible and once presented with just visual quotes the billion dollar giant says nope too much, even though we did it and have well admitted fault. They Safelite think a guarantee is just to get you in the door it doesn't really mean guarantee. It's a scheme to get your money. Once they have your money contract I guess voids and so does warranty. Look even my insurance is in bed with them and I can't file a claim because Safelite I guess from the 30 hours spent on phone owns them the insurance Co.

Hey my insurance is supposed to represent Americans and honor them. But that's another story coming soon. Thanks Safelite for a year of torment and just the wonderful circus act you and your employees have performed. I'm still spending money and now looks like more to resolve a resolved issue. I had a cracked shattered windshield from a woman trying to use my car to commit suicide and I called Safelite thinking I would be in good hands (WRONG MOVE) and set up an appointment a week before the day of service and my appointment date was scheduled for Friday 17th 2020. I received emails and texts messages telling me to be ready Safelite was coming. I was ready and prepared and ready to get back to work because I'd be able to drive my car again. Thursday Safelite sent another message telling me to be ready. I was ready and excited. I was going to have a fixed windshield. Friday arrived and Safelite sent me a picture of the goofy looking pirate technician who was to fix the repairs and I said to myself don't judge because the funniest looking people seem to do the best work even though my gut said the dude doesn't look right but rather peculiar.

Right after Safelite sent the techs mugshot I got a text saying my appointment was cancelled. I gotta tell you I was very very agitated and upset. I told them how unprofessional they are and that they should not have treated me in that fashion. I told them you don't wait till the day of to tell someone you're canceling their appointment and you don't do stuff like that without giving a reason. I had to call them and ask them why did they cancel my appointment. The woman was nonchalant and claimed she didn't know but she would check. How's that for starters. It's like a bunch of brainless fruit cakes working together. She then told me they didn't have the part in. My advice to them what's to know who you're dealing with before you go making up lies. I know the warehouse and I know where they get their glasses from and they told me that my windshield wasn't fax it out to them as a matter of fact they received the windshield Wednesday.

So they told a blatant lie it canceled my appointment. I did said okay let me look at the reviews because when people do stuff like this it doesn't start all at once it's been happening for a while. So I look at the reviews and I see they've done this to a couple of people so I put two and two together and what I gathered was this company is a scam. What they do is they get windshield and they don't give you the windshield that was ordered they give you cheaper windshield and keep the good windshields. It's selling for higher price but give you the cheap windshields charging some people higher prices making them think they have a good windshield. Then if you order a certain type of windshield if they have a friend or someone they know they give them the windshield at a nice price and cancel your appointment and tell you they don't have yours in.

This place should be called safe fraud and I will never ever speak highly of them nor tell anyone anything good about safe fraud Safelite. I read reviews where they mess people's car up so I'm thankful that they did cancel my appointment because they don't know what they're doing and they're running a scam. Words of wisdom to people out there if you want a quick fix call Safelite but if you want it done right by all means do not call Safelite go to the dealership actually place of business and get it done right and know what you're getting. Find out what company or Warehouse they order your windshields from and keep track on your windshield or glass cuz Safelite say frog Safelite 8 right and they need to be put out of business.

Took it through the car wash and it poured down my windshield. Now I'm really angry. You could definitely see the rubber was bunched up. I called another window guy and confirmed they did not. paddle it out. After an hour on the phone tried telling me I had to give them a chance to fix this. They had their chance when they tried to tell me it was the sunroof. Unbelievable. What? Because I am a women you can try and run me over? I dont think I would never use this company again.

I fell for the commercials and called Safelite when I had a window chip. Making the appointment was the only easy part. The first try was a 5 hour window, which they didn’t show for, the second try they scheduled an appointment at a work address on a Saturday without asking and finally the last straw was me sitting in my house waiting for them get here when surprise, surprise, surprise...a Text telling me because I didn’t verify my year and model. Mind you this was NOT a replacement, they just cancelled.

When I called I was told, "Sorry, no more appointments for today, we’re very busy, it’s the holidays. Bring it in." I figure I’ve wasted 10 hours of my life waiting for these people. I used to think the cable guys were bad but these people take the cake. I have no idea if they do a good job because they never showed up. When I went to write this review I saw a lot of people with the same complaints as me. Safe lite, in my opinion you truly stink and I will find someone, anyone other than you to fix my chip. The tech call Friday at 8 am saying he would be there between 3-8 PM. I told him I was told it would be in the AM but he said he would try to get there by 12. No show at 12. Came to my house to repair or replace my damaged windshield last week. Repair was of a poor quality so a replacement was prescribed. Appointment made and confirmed the day before for 1-5 pm and then confirmed at 11:30 the day of the appointment with name and photo of agent. I called at 4:30 to inquire as to the whereabouts of the agent and after a long hold the receptionist came back and asked “didn’t anyone tell you that your windshield was not in stock and that they are not coming?” Ridiculous. I wasted my entire afternoon. My insurance company chose these people so I am stuck. After I inquired as to what they were prepared to do to compensate me for my inconvenience they offered me a free set of windshield wipers. Great. Be mindful of the these reviews, we're not all quacks with an agenda. I had a tiny chip, called Allstate and they sent Safelite to my house. The guy gave me a big speech about how great Safelite is as a company. Then he lowers his voice and says, "Sometimes in the effort to repair the chip, we can make a crack. Do you understand what I just said?" Then he shoves an electronic box at me and says, "Sign"'. I said with what, he says, "Use your fingernail".

He puts his gizmo on the windshield and proceeds to make a two ft crack horizontally across my windshield. "No problem, we'll sell you a new windshield and charge you for it." I told him he needs to leave. I call Allstate...immediately they say Safelite should have to fix it, they broke it. Three hrs later, same gal calls back and says, "You signed a waiver and there's nothing we can do about it." Did some more research and Allstate is in bed with Safelite and in my discovery, this is a very common scenario they create together.

Had an appointment scheduled for a technician to come to my house between 8 am-12 pm to replace my windshield that I scheduled over a week prior due to it being the only morning I would be home all week (I'm in grad school, have 2 jobs, and am completing an internship... so I have no days off, only occasional mornings I‘m home during, which is why I scheduled home service.) I received a call at 830 am asking if I could bring my car into the shop in an hour, instead of them coming to me due to “the weather” which was really inconvenient. I was hesitant and confused on the phone, because I purposely checked the weather ahead of scheduling and it was nearly 50 degrees and sunny/cloudy with no rain in the forecast.

I think the tech sensed my hesitation because he then offered to come get my car and bring it back, which he didn’t sound like he wanted to do.. I decided that if my car has to be taken elsewhere, I’d prefer to be the one to take it, so I started calling around to see if I could get a ride from someone home from the shop since I did not plan for this and had a lot of things to do around the house and couldn’t spend the little time I had waiting there. I don’t know if the tech just didn’t feel like working outside or what, but I figured I didn’t have a choice at this point and wasn’t going to argue.

I got back in touch with the technician to let him know I would be able to bring my car in, and he asked if I planned on waiting at the shop or dropping off, and let me know that apparently he didn’t get started on his first car yet, and that his manager sent him out to get another car after he called me. I have no idea what that meant for me, other than that it would take a while? I also don’t know why no one called me immediately after they realized how backed up they were to let me know something had changed and that I could bring my car in later in the day.

You guys really shouldn’t offer the “come to your home” service at all as an option past September if employees aren’t willing or able to work outside in temps under 50 degrees. And if this was an issue, then at the very least, someone should have let me know the day before, or literally at any point prior to the time my window for service starts at... not half an hour past it. I’m really unhappy with the service, this was supposed to make things easier, and instead it made them more difficult for both me and the friend I had to inconvenience to pick me up from the shop.

The 800 customer service was nice, a guy showed up, took pictures and then we never heard back. My insurance co had me call Safelite to replace the windshield in my vehicle that was damaged by a rock on the road. The tech showed up at appointment time and went right to work doing the replacement. He came in my office 30 mins later said he was all done and gave me the paperwork. An hour later when I was leaving to go home, I inspected his work and noticed damages to the hood and fender from the installer. I immediately called and got nowhere with the telephone rep. Called again and finally got the number for the local manager. Called him the next day a few times, but he failed to return my voicemails for hours.

When I finally reached him, he told me that the damage was obviously pre-existing since he had in his possession time stamped pre-inspection photos showing the damage. I asked him the time on them, and the time was 30 minutes after the tech started the job. I know the time he started, as I had a screen shot of the received phone call from the tech as he was pulling into my office 1/2 hr earlier than the time stamp. So, when they finally agreed that the tech was not being truthful to them, they sent a manager over to look at the damages, and he told me to take it to my body shop and let them know the cost to repair.

I sent them the estimate from the guy who does all our work (very reasonable) and now they are calling back saying they want their guys to repair the damage. Obviously that is not acceptable as I do not know the quality of the work their body guy might do... Now we are at a stalemate over the repair. Do not ever use this scam company! 03/19: Have a crack, get a new windshield. My insurance company partners with Safelite so went there. We have lane departure warning, plus auto braking if we get too close so there is a front camera. We were directed to one particular location where they could recalibrate the camera. After installing the after-market windshield they recalibrated the camera. 06/19: Warning light on dash. Go to dealer. Camera has almost caught on fire because it was not reinstalled correctly due to after-market glass. Camera fell out when dealer opened the camera area and there were scorch marks in there.

Contact Safelite - get the run around. Why didn't I bring vehicle with a warning light to them? Who sees a warning light on the dash and goes to a windshield repair firm? Oh did the dealer touch it? That voids your lifetime warranty. No, the dealer didn't touch it until it fell into their hands because it wasn't reinstalled correctly! After trying for 2 weeks to get satisfaction I contacted USAA, our insurance company, who took over dealing with them.

Thank GOD we had USAA who stayed on Safelite's rear until we got OEM glass and a new camera! Even with their help we got the run around for months. 4 months after the camera first overheated we have now FINALLY finished with this company. 4 months. First time they attempted to replace the glass at USAA's direction, I was told I'd have a new OEM windshield. I showed up and OOPS it's after-market glass. Second time they called at 7:15 a.m. when I'm on my way to their shop and OOPS the OEM glass arrived broken. Third time all went well because USAA told them if I wasn't taken care of that day, the glass would be ordered and reinstalled by the dealership at Safelite's expense. At our request USAA insisted on a new camera and that it be installed at the dealership. Safelite promised that after I paid for the camera and installation (just under $1500) I'd be reimbursed within 10 business days.

9/9/19 (yes, 6 months after this all started) I sent in copies of my receipts via email for reimbursement. I don't think Safelite knows what 10 business days is because on 10/11/19 when I still did not have reimbursement, I gave up on waiting for Safelite and contacted USAA. USAA was told by Safelite that they sent my check on 10/11/19. It actually came on 10/19 via FedEx overnight and the check was dated 10/17/19. I sent USAA a copy of the check so they realize they were lied to yet again. Dishonesty runs rampant within this corporation, imo.

I will say that one individual in the Albuquerque office, Michael **, did a great job at keeping in touch and trying to be on the up and up. Of course there were times he didn't call back or follow up, probably when I was asking for reassurances Safelite did not want him to provide. I would strongly recommend that if you do NOT have a great insurance company to back you up, GO ELSEWHERE for window glass. If you have a newer vehicle with all the safety options that require a front camera, INSIST on OEM glass and, GO ELSEWHERE for new glass.

I went through my insurance company to get my windshield fixed. They recommended this company. I made the appointment for a Tuesday. I was told they would come between noon and 5. I waited and received a call from my installer saying he was on his way around 1. He made it and was very pleasant and easy to talk to, however, had the wrong windshield in his van and couldn’t fix my windshield. He said it was the second time that day he had the wrong windshield. He called his supervisor in front of me and told him it happened again.

He apologized and told me they couldn’t send someone back until the following Tuesday between 8 and noon to fix it. I was frustrated but understood it wasn’t his fault and agreed. I had already rigged around my schedule for the installation so I couldn’t miss work the following week to be there so I made sure my son was available to fill in for me. It was before he had to be at work so I felt confident it would work out.

I received a call from the installer that morning around 9 am stating that he didn’t understand why I was on his route because his other 4 jobs were in the same city so he was going to do them first. He said he had no idea when he would get to me but it would be way later. I told him I was on his list because they made a mistake the following week and had to add me after the fact. I also told him that I have a morning appointment and it wasn’t my fault that his afternoon appointments were in the same city he was currently in. I also told him my son had to go to work and I was driving his car so he couldn’t want for him to come later in the day to install the windshield. Therefore I had to cancel the appointment and go another week or more to get it fixed. He seemed like he didn’t care about my inconvenience.

I then called their customer service number to ask to speak to a supervisor. The girl who answered was very short and rude and told me there was no supervisor available until the next day and I could leave my name and number. I started to tell her why I was upset about the customer service I received and she told me to hold on and then I was disconnected. I call back and the same girl answers. I begin to talk and she realizes I’m the same person calling back and all of a sudden there is a supervisor available that can speak to me.

The supervisor gets on the phone. He is the direct supervisor of the guy who just called me and said he wasn’t making it on time to my appointment. He tells me he told the employee to call me and see if I could change my appointment. The guy never asked me to change the time. He told me it was going to be that was. The supervisor also told me he had 2 jobs in the city he was in and the rest of his jobs were in my city. The installer told me he had 4 more jobs in the city he was in and only mine in my city. When I told the supervisor of the differences in their stories he hung up on me. Needless to say I will be giving my business to someone else. This was such a waste of my time.

How does this company have a high BBB rating?! Their lifetime warranty is a joke! Horrible customer service. I had the original windshield replaced in my 2006 Chevy Silverado in May 2017. Now the window does not defrost while you are driving. It is garaged so does not have frost at first. I tried to explain we only drive this vehicle occasionally to pull trailers and only a few times it has been on a day with freezing fog/weather since installation.

We recently had this happen again when we had an early cold weather storm. We had our defrost and everything checked on the truck because in our mind the window is new, not cracked or pitted. Everything checked out fine. The only thing it can be is the window, so I called about warranty. The 800 number technician told me it is a defect in the window or installation and said they would send someone out to look it over and repair or replace at no charge. I asked him if this has happened before and he said yes. Awesome I thought, that was easy and how a warranty should be.

My tech called at 9 am and said he would arrive between 12-5 and asked me about the problem I was having. He responded, hmm. He arrived at 4:50 and asked me again. I told him and about my call and he said, "Well I haven't heard of that before and I really don't know what I am supposed to do with." He called someone then told me it was my defrost. It is not! I have had the truck inspected by a mechanic. He said, "Well they told me not to replace it so you can call a manager if you want tomorrow." He was at my home maybe 15 minutes total and most of that on the phone. He said he checked my defrost and there was plenty of air but it was probably my thermostat. The diesel truck had not been started so I know it was not warmed up yet. I told him we have had the truck checked out. It is the window!

I recognized him as the same person who installed the window and gave me a free bottle of glass cleaner to give him a good survey rating so he could get paid more. I understand he is just doing what they tell him but he could have been up front instead of making excuses. My impression with the tech, especially with his show up time, was that they can say they looked at it but then do nothing. I do not need a new windshield for any other reason. It looks fine but it is not safe. Pulling a trailer down the freeway and you suddenly cannot see and have to try and safely get off the road is dangerous. If you sit long enough the window will defrost but you may die of a heat stroke before that happens! Then it will not stay defrosted in motion so you have to pull over again.

I called the manager the tech suggested and she gave me the run around about, "Didn't you notice this before?" Yes, but even we did not think it was the window. Well she says we have bad winters. Yes, we live in Idaho but I do not drive this vehicle primarily and whats the chances it will be freezing/fog those days. Only a handful. It was obvious they want to make every excuse not to honor the warranty.

I asked her who decides because the tech on the 800 phone call that set it up made it sound like it was a done deal and was courteous and helpful. Now she says that she hasn't heard of this problem before and she makes the decision! She did tell me she would call around and see if this has ever happened before and what she could do and would get back to me. I was given the impression that if she actually does call back that it will be some other excuse. Just because they haven't heard of it before does not justify them not honoring a so called lifetime warranty.

I called my local auto body shop. I was told they are always fixing Safelite damages and mistakes which really says something considering how small of an area that I live in. I can get a new OEM window rather than after market installed for basically the same price. I paid cash for the window but know insurance companies often choose Safelite and it has to be because they are often cheaper. You get what you pay for! Also, interesting how hard it is to write a review on their site. I still can't do it. You can't write a review on their Facebook page unless it is in a comment on something else. I didn't get a survey for this visit. Shady practices all around. Spend your money locally and spread the word that Safelite is not the place to go.

However, rubber molding seals on both sides were damaged during his work and the passenger side wiper was not installed correctly and did not park in the proper location. These were corrected after two more visits to the Hudson, WI location.

Next I had an appointment to have the Advanced Driver Assist System re-calibrated. The Hudson location did the work and billed $250 for this to my Insurance. After this work my Auto Braking system and Cruise Control did not work. I brought it to an Audi dealer and they confirmed the system was not re-calibrated correctly and informed me that without Audi brand glass in the windshield re-calibration may not fix it. I had Audi replace the windshield and re-calibrate. Everything works perfect now. I don't think I would bring anything but a basic auto to Safelite.

Over the weekend someone tried to break into her car breaking both the driver's and passenger side windows. The cost to replace both was $486. When I asked how come the single window cost almost as much as the two to replace I was told it was the changing price in glass so I questioned that and then was told that we got a discount the second time because we bough 2 windows. So you are telling me that we go a 50% discount on the glass. The only difference was going through our insurance company the second time. This group priced gouged us bad.
