The worst possible service, I have a smashed front windshield from a baseball, car is not drivable. My wife calls our insurance company they refer us to Safelite. The Safelite tech explains we have a $1700 deductible and gives us an appointment for 3 days. Florida law there is no deductibles for windshields. My wife calls back now they agree no deductible but I lose my 3-day spot because the Safelite system according to the Safelite tech kicks you out and you lose your spot, now it's a 15-day appointment.
My wife explains we cannot drive our car safely, The Safelite tech says nothing we can do. I call trying to get a closer appointment but I warned if she looks I may lose my 15-day appointment... My wife calls backs asks for a closer day, NOW we lose our 15-day appointment now they give us an appointment for Jan 1, 2025 (it April 2024). (BTW I have the text stating Jan 1, 2025). I found another company who came the next day... STAY AWAY, YOU ARE NOT SAFE W/ SAFELITE.

Rear windshield of my vehicle was broken, my insurance company sent Safelite to my house. They end it up putting substantial damage to the paint of my vehicle, after that I’ve been dealing with a claim. They have no clue and no intentions whatsoever to take care of the damages they caused. They just want to charge your insurance for a poor job and do not take responsibility on damages they caused. Even worst when you contact claims department they come with the same answer and nothing is done. The only solution is to take them to court.

Brutal experience here in Austin. The guy broke a piece of my Car while installing the window and now I can’t drive it. I’ve been without a car for 14 straight days and customer managers Zach and Alan are ignoring me. I’m not upset with the guy who broke my car - accidents happen - but to ignore me for 2 weeks while I’m racking up Uber bills because they damaged my car is unforgivable. I assumed they were a reputable company because of their cute radio jingles. I was wrong.

I was parked at a gas station on Northside Drive in Atlanta, Georgia when I was approached by a representative of your company. I was asked to repair my windshield which was not broken then your representative drilled a hole in my windshield and used a gel like formula to cover the hole. My windshield was never the same again. My windshield always had to be defrosted and I could not see while I was driving.

They came with a chipped windshield. Then I had to reschedule. I was rescheduled for today with them arriving between 9:30-10:00. At 12:30 I called and asked what was up. They then informed me that the warehouse didn’t have my glass. It would have been nice if they had called me so that I didn’t wait home all day for them. I’ll take my business elsewhere.

Do not buy any of their products. They absolutely refuse to service their failures in the product. They make it absolutely impossible to obtain warranty service. Their “customer care center“ is a number that no one ever answers. They don’t permit voicemail. They have effectively set up a system that make sure they never have to service their failures. Don’t buy anything from them.

This is the worst company I have EVER dealt with. I filed a claim to have my driver side window repaired and waited a week for a tech to come out. The tech came out, removed the shattered window and then realized the window he had was not the right replacement. He taped up my driver side window, left a MESS of shattered glass. It's been 3 weeks now and they keep pushing me stating that the hold up is from the glass distributor. In the month that I have been waiting for a replacement, I have had to borrow cars and rent a car for a week. Finally I called a local auto glass repair company and they got me taken care of the next day! One month compared to one day... go local! Don't waste a minute on Safelite!

I would give negative stars if I could. DO NOT take your vehicle to them. They do shoddy work and do not care. I had my windshield replaced a year ago by this location of Safelite only to find they put the wrong size windshield in AND improperly installed it. This caused a leak which could not be seen until a year later when almost $7000 of damage was done to my 2022 Tacoma. It had to be taken all the way down to the metal and I had to pay for Servpro to come out because of all the mold and mildew I had been breathing for a year.
I gave Chris (the manager) the chance to make this right. He wanted to replace the windshield. I told him, "No. You already proved unable to do that job." He sat in my truck and said “I don’t smell anything. We can have it detailed and the carpets dried.” Well Chris I’m sure you’d be perfectly ok with a family member breathing mold spores but I’m not. I ended up having to file a comprehensive claim against Safelite to have the work done right. Now I have mold and mildew on my CARFAX. Seriously people. It is NOT worth it!

The technician who came to replace the glass was great, very personable and professional. However, dealing with customer service is a nightmare. You start in a phone tree that if you don't say the exact words, the system hangs up. If you get routed to a department, you cannot leave a voice mail and the system hangs up. The tech was not provided with some special tools so we needed to schedule a follow-up appointment. Another frustrating nightmare because the system hung up. I called 4 times and each time the system hung up on me regardless of the option I chose.
Safelite closed the claim (I had foolishly paid for the replacement) before the work was completed. Finally, the cost of the replacement was $522 and we had a $500 deductible. When I talked to the tech's supervisor about not putting the claim on my insurance, he told me the cost would be over $700. Next time I will go to an independent glass replacement company. These folks are AWFUL!

I contacted Safelite Autoglass to replace my windshield. They did the the work. Within an hour of me dropping off the 2011 toyota camry le, I got a call from them letting me know the car was ready. I paid with card at the time of pickup. I was told at that time I would be emailed a receipt of payment which I never got. I was also told the do's and don't and given the keys. I get in the car and drove home. Glass looked good to me so I didn't pay attention to anything else.
Weeks later I noticed as I am washing the car that the hood of the car on the driver side doesn't sit even to the fender as it does on the passenger side. It sits way higher on the driver side and there is a large gap between the hood and fender, also some of the cosmetics on the windshield was not reinstalled properly, so I called them. They sent someone out but he said he couldn't do anything. He then took pictures and told me he was going to go back to the office to talk management and the technician that did the work and someone would contact me within three days.
Well I never got that call, so I called and I was told they didn't remove the hood of the car and took pictures of the car prior to the work being done. I was told that I could bring it by but basically they were not going to do anything. So I paid almost 500.00 to these people to replace my windshield and wipers which was broken within three weeks and I had to pay some more money to replace the wiper. Now I am also responsible for fixing the hood that safelite auto glass damaged. I know for a fact the pictures they took does not reflect my hood with that gap. I have not had any work done prior to or after this replacement was done on this car that would require going under the hood.

Supposedly their work is guaranteed so I returned for inspection. They showed me a photo of the damage and claimed it was there beforehand. I know it wasn't there and I think the photo was taken after the installation to cover their butts since repairing my dash would be a major undertaking.

My experience with the New Bedford, MA Safelite Glass location was not good. I had to go to the location as they said they could not replace and calibrate my replacement windshield off site. I spent close to three hours waiting for my replacement. The service representative came out to the waiting room after nearly three hours and informed me that they could not calibrate my replacement windshield and I was sent on my way with several safety features and my cruise control not working.
I was initially rescheduled to replace the windshield the following week but then I received a call from Safelite canceling the appointment because they claimed the OEM windshield was back ordered. I had to bring my vehicle to my local Honda shop and pay out of pocket for the calibration ($507). My insurance company is working on refunding me. In addition to this, I needed a rental car for the day my vehicle was being worked on and Safelite refused to cover the single day rental fee. My insurance company sent me to them to replace my windshield. My car was only under a year old with no prior repairs or issues. Minutes after I road away from the garage, I started having problems. All six of my windows kept fogging, even on dry, sunny days, there is a large gap between my closed door and dashboard, air comes in through the crack making it difficult to get and maintain a temperature, it whistles through the crack when I drive, it is obvious my dashboard was tampered with and not reattached properly, and all this has brought the value down on a brand new vehicle.
I've taken it back to the Arlington, TX location at least four times, but they keep making up excuses, such as I don't see it, we didn't do it, we didn't touch the dashboard, and such. I've taken it to three auto repair places, including my dealership and another auto glass repair place and they pointed out the obvious signs that the dashboard has tampered with causing the gap that causes my door to separate from the dashboard. It's horrible and I'm still fighting for them to own up to it and make repairs. Please stay away from this place. I may have to get an attorney or have it inspected by a government agency. If you look at reviews on Yelp and even their own website, you will see a pattern of the same complaints. Someone needs to do something about this, and I'd like to be part of a class-action lawsuit, if this is not remedied.

I am compelled to express my dismay and frustration regarding an unfortunate experience with Safelite Auto Glass. Upon contacting Nationwide to initiate a claim for glass repair, I learned, to my consternation, that they have delegated all such claims to Safelite. Given my reservations about entrusting my vehicle to Safelite, I sought to mitigate any potential issues by selecting an approved repair shop from Nationwide's list of providers. Despite this precautionary measure, my experience was mired in confusion and miscommunication when the chosen shop questioned my alleged directive to Safelite, denying authorization for any ancillary repairs—a directive I certainly did not issue.
When I reached out to Safelite for clarification, their response was as perplexing as it was disconcerting. They not only contradicted the information provided by the repair shop but further insisted that my vehicle was, in fact, not at an approved facility, urging me to relocate it to a Safelite establishment posthaste—a claim blatantly at odds with the truth. This debacle has left me in the cumbersome position of pursuing subsequent reimbursements for the additional repair work, a process Safelight appears to be obstructing with great diligence.
In light of this episode, my advice to fellow consumers would be to reconsider their affiliation with Nationwide, especially concerning glass coverage, and to exercise caution if not outright avoidance of Safelite's services. The analogy that springs to mind is that Safelite seems to adopt the persistence of an unwelcome condition in the realm of automotive insurance.

I normally don’t write reviews as I don’t normally have time to waste on it…. However after the sheer mess and incompetents that took place with me. I’m making an exception. I have dealt with Safelite a few times over the years and never had a problem. But for some reason that Safelite office at 11105 Landmark 35 Drive in San Antonio has been hands down the WORST experience I have ever had in my life. The poor customer service I received is estrous!
First, they send me numerous message stating they will be at my house at the agreed upon date and time. The day of the appointment, the technician arrives at my house to a repair on one car and was supposed to be there to replace the windshield on the other. He proceeds to tell me he doesn’t have my windshield and needs to call his office for direction. They office calls me up and informs me they can’t install my windshield from home due to the type of car and windshield my car requires. AGAIN, THIS IS THE DAY AND MOMENT OF MY APPT! They tell me they would like to schedule an appt the next day for installation. I agreed to do this even after I took time off from work to being here for this appt. STRIKE ONE!!! Then the customer rep on the phone puts me on hold for 10 minutes and comes back and tells me that they thought they had one in their warehouse, but it was cracked and would need to order a new one.
The new one was coming in from Georgia and would take 5-8 days to arrive and they would contact me once it was there in their shop. We planned 10 days later for me to bring in my CAR to installation of the windshield. I dropped it off the night before my appt. The next day I got a call from Safelite telling me that the windshield they ordered was not the right one and they would need to contact their office to procure the correct one. STRIKE TWO!!
I asked to see the manager when I got there to pick up my car. The manager tells me “My car has a heating element to it and the one they ordered didn’t have one.” I asked him why was this not researched ahead of time before ordering the wrong one and they were very unprofessional, incompetent, and frustrating! He proceeds to apologies for the delays and then give me this song and dance about this being the nature of the glass business (Whatever that means!!) He asked me to be patient as he is now personally handling this order and will see if he can expedite the glass.
A week goes by, and I didn’t hear anything from them. I had to call them to get a update of what’s happening with my windshield. The manager tells me that my new windshield is now coming from Ontario CA and it's going to take ANOTHER 10 Days to get here. I was not happy with this news, and he proceeds to tell me about the nature of the glass business again. NOT SOMETHING YOUR CUSTOMER WANTS TO HEAR!! He then asked me to be patient once again as some glasses doesn’t come in for 3 to 4 months. I decided to give this one last shot. 10 days goes by and AGAIN, I had to call to find out what the plan was and get a update of where things stand. He calls me back then tells me that the glass was supposed to be on a truck arriving Oct 17th. It was the 16th and said nothing came then so they were expecting it tomorrow but once it arrives, he would alert me and have me come in immediately.
I didn’t hear from him until afternoon on the 17th and proceeds to tell me that Glass is NOT on the truck, and they called to check on it for the 18th shipment and it wasn’t on that truck either! They had no idea where this windshield was or when/if it was going to arrive EVER. Like it just vanished like a fart in the wind!! THIS WAS THE LAST STRIKE!!! DONE! I was infuriated with the absolute terrible treatment and sheer incompetence this office has given me. I immediately told them to cancel my account and I would be taking my business elsewhere as I was done being jerked around. I have always had good with my previous ventures with Safelite but this office was by far this office was an absolute dump fire! I am now going to make an official complaint with their corporate office as no customer should ever have to be treated like this again. RUN FROM THIS OFFICE AS FAST AS YOU CAN!!!!

Went to another shop to have the window repaired and said the only thing that was wrong was a piece of plastic needed to be popped back into place and they fixed our window within 15 minutes. Also come to find out that the guy that came out to do our window put a bunch of stuff in the Door backwards and blamed me that he could not complete his job. He waited for me to walk away from my husband to tell my husband "If it wasn't for your wife pushing out the window I would have been able to finish my job."
On top of him not completing the job when we went to try and leave to go to the store that day come to find out he killed our battery and the window on the passenger side will no longer scroll up and down from the driver side window. I have had to find a way to pull over $400 out of my own pocket in order to fix the repairs that were caused due to the technician's incompetent behavior and an inexperience to complete the task. First, I was told it would take a week to bring in my windshield, but they kept calling the day of my appointment to tell me it's going to be another week. It took three weeks. I should have canceled right there, but I didn't. Second, the Provo location had my car all day, which is fine if it were tough to fix, but my car app notified me when they actually started working on it, which was an hour before they closed. That might explain the horrible quality of service, rushing to get it done before close since they had it all day. So why the appointments, and why did I drop it off in the morning. Third, they moved my wipers out of alignment. They kept smacking the side of my car when used on the freeway. It's a newer car so I wasn't about to mess with them myself, so I had to take it to the dealership to fix.
Fourth, and probably not final, I finally got fed up with how dirty they left the windshield on the inside of my car, so I tried to clean it. Turns out it's some kind of defect/smear inside the sheets of glass. Nothing to clean on the inside or outside of the windshield. So now I've got smears that are extremely noticeable in the sun and there's nothing I can do about it. Of course, the only suggestion Safelite is going to offer is 'bring it in to our repair center, again.' Nice, so who pays for my Lift? I might just deal with the smears before taking it back there. Who knows what they'll mess up if taken a second time. I tried calling, but the automated message says no one's available and keeps directing me to go online. Never again.

They also wouldn't talk to me if I didn't open an acct and after they took all my info, disconnected the call. I call back, and they have to start over because nothing was in the system. They won't install used glass. Given 4 numbers before I gave up. Horrible.

I wish I would’ve never called Safelite. My Lexus has a hydrophobic coating on my windshield that the technician scraped off with a razor blade and sandpaper after trying to get the repair to stick to my windshield numerous times. After the technician scraped my coating off my windshield, I washed my car and noticed both spots where he damaged my windshield. I sent the technician a picture of the damage 1 hour after he left, and he replied asking me to drive 30 minutes to his shop, so he can evaluate the damage done to my vehicle, when I declined he said that was my prerogative. So the cherry on top… he also used foul language in the presence of my 17-month-old baby girl. I will never use Safelite again for anything and I would advise anyone else to avoid this place if you value your vehicle!

Awful is the nicest thing I can say about these clowns. 2 missed appointments cancelled day of, claim windshield not in (which after the first missed appointment guaranteed there by second, nope), and the car is popular and everywhere else in Santa Fe has the windshield. You will spend hours dealing with clowns in a centralized center (you can never talk to the local place), who are fairly clueless, and then time spent changing all the insurance stuff around because you give up on Safelite.
I spent time reading reviews in 2 separate geographic areas, all awful. Missed appointments, never get to speak with local shop, horrible work in a number of cases, and their being clueless as to when a windshield comes in and has taken some folks months of waiting. How a big national company does not have a data base which can get windshields delivered quickly (which are widely availbible as in my case) and be able to track it is beyond corporate irresponsibility, stupidity and such an obvious problem that they are not fixing it speaks volumes about the company and their ability to properly run a business and respect their customers. A week later I showed up with my ride to drop off my car and was told they had no appointment scheduled for me. I made a new appointment for two weeks later because I requested an OEM windshield. I showed up with my ride again on time and dropped off my car and was told it would be done early that afternoon. At 4:00 that afternoon I came to pick up my car, it was parked in the parking lot so I went in the office to get my keys and pay my portion of the bill. The lady said the insurance paid the whole bill and no charge and gave me my key.
When I got in my almost new car I saw a hole in the leather upholstery and broken glass everywhere in the seats and damage to the console! My wife and the manager were standing next to the drivers door and my wife said "is that a hole?" The manager said "That was already there when you brought the car in." I said "NO it wasn't, look there is damage to the console too!" He said "I'm sure it was. We take pictures before we worked on it." I said, "Good let's go look at them." He left and after a few minutes came back and said "I can't prove it but I know we didn't do that!" I said, "I guess we'll have to gel lawyers involved then." He said "get it fixed and we'll pay for it." I took my car back to Lexus and had them repair the damage and Safelite paid the bill.
A while later, first storm, I turned on the windshield wipers and the passenger wiper didn't work so I stopped at the dealer and they asked if I had replaced the windshield and I said yes. But why lie to your customers saying that the part got there broken, when actually the parts was never delivered in the first place. Then what makes it worse have your receptionist getting confused with the story and told two different stories.
Furthermore, I asked for the manager because the story was not adding up or making any sense. The manager got on the phone and I said, "I am not trying to be rude or ignorant. However, be honest with me because I am hearing two different stories. Was my part order? Yes or no." The manager first said no, then said, "We did, but the manufacturer never got the order," then "oh I don’t know who did the order for you last week???" I was confused. The order was done at your location and I spoke with someone at your location and you don’t know what’s going on in your store? When you are the store manager.
I even got an email to come in today to drop off my car and the email is down below! I have to pay someone to take me to work to Philadelphia and back to them to be lied to. Be more professional. If you do not have the part ok not a problem. The problem you lied and trying to make it seem like you was not the problem or like no one in your store failed to communicate with each other. Our windshield on a 2017 Highlander was hit by rocks from a passing truck and had to be replaced. Given that SafeLite is the dominant provider in that space, we first tried to get a quote from them. What follows is a summary of our experience and why we ended-up not using them. First, note that there are various "coupons" available, so try to secure one first if you plan to use them.
Second, while their web interface is relatively streamlined, it involves many steps so that it is hard to keep track of where you are. This is particularly important as you are eventually taken to a page where you are asked to finalize your quote by choosing between three different services: economy, standard, and premium. There is, however, absolutely no explanations as to what the differences are, and searching online (we tried several search engines) does not offer any real information. The only thing we were able to infer is that Economy may not include wipers replacement, while the other two service levels might. SafeLite's own website is also silent on what those three services include.
Third, there are hidden fees that are initially not included, such as a "recycling" fee to dispose of your broken windshield and that gets tagged onto the total all the way at the end. Overall, SafeLite sale's practices came across as deceptive (fees hidden until the last minute) and opaque (no clear explanation of the different levels of service offered). Since we ended-up not using their service, I cannot comment on the quality of the work, but I would certainly not recommend them to anyone looking to replace their cracked windshield.

Dropped my car off at Safelite on 7 June for an appointment on 8 June. Asked the service rep if it was ok where I parked my car. He stated yes. It was in front of the service entrance. I arrived at 4:45pm on 8 June to pick my car up and noticed the repair was not done. Asked the rep why the car was not done and he asked what car it was. He looked for the key and could not find it. He then asked who I handed the key to and I told him, "It was you I gave my key to." He looked a little longer and the key was next to him in a clear service envelope.
I asked for the key and left because I had another appointment for service on 9 June. I contacted Safelite only to be told the warranty doesn't cover chips. I paid over $500 for this windshield and it was not good glass. The customer service rep told me the glass is made to federal regulations. I highly doubt that considering the original windshield went 15 years without a chip from much larger rocks. I went to the front desk and I told them I’m taking the windshield with me why are you charging me for the recycling fee. They said they would fix it.
After receiving no confirmation they still charging my credit card the $239 I contacted the head office first and they said they would look into it and try to fix it. Then this morning they charge me an additional $50 up to $290 and I took my own glass. I will not settle for this. I’ve already contacted my credit card company. I will dispute this. Just a reminder that your technician will arrive between 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM CST. We'll need your keys but you're welcome to leave them in a safe spot inside the vehicle."
The morning of, I receive an email about the appointment with a picture and name of the technician. I intentionally took time off work for this appointment. Come noon time, no message, suffice it to say, by 6 pm, no call and no one shows up. no text message or email. It was a complete no show with no explanation. Then when I call at 6, no human being to answer the call. I have to wait till the next week to call. I call on Tuesday and they tell me it will be for the next day.
Then yesterday, I got off work early, again, to be home for the appointment. I call once I got home, they connect me to a human, and this man tells me, there will not be anyone who can come do this job since they are overbooked!!! After I explained to them how this is the 2nd time they have abandoned me and not followed through with their agreed upon time, the person says let me see what I can do, he puts me on hold, 5 minutes later, he gets back on the phone and tells me, there is nothing he can do!
That is when I hung up and decided to make this review. This is an extremely poorly run company. Extremely unreliable. Very bad customer support. I then called the national line, and told them what happened, they said they too would be upset, but like he did not really care. SO I requested a refund. Safelite is the king of "not our job". Our insurance company sent us to Safelite to have the windshield replace in our RV (Mercedes Sprinter van 4x4). After replacing the windshield, they called me to tell me that they couldn't recalibrate the sensors on the windshield that are part of the safety equipment on the vehicle because it's an RV. They knew it was an RV from the start because we insured an RV with our insurance company. I even called them ahead of time to verify that they could recalibrate the sensors on this van since it was an RV and they said yes. Now we have to take it to a Mercedes dealer to get the recalibration done. When I called the insurance company to ask about this, I was immediately transferred to a Safelite employee. Apparently, if Safelite contracts with an insurance company, their employees handle the claim when you call in for a glass claim. Will never use Safelite again for any glass replacements or repairs.

WINDSHIELD WARRANTY SCAM. Less than two months ago, the last Safelite installer did not install the windshield correctly. A section of the rubber frame surrounding the windshield was folded under the glass - it's literally impossible for anyone else except the windshield installer to do that. A single line crack formed from the side frame of the glass heading towards the bottom of the windshield. There was no impact point, despite the technician pointing to a point that could only be seen under a microscope and that had no other cracks or lions a meeting from it and the impact point would not have been directly under the rubber fold, it's impossible to something could've hit there.
I read through their warranty word by word and this was the classic textbook example of wrong installation. The two Safelite technicians who came out to replace the windshield once again said that it's not fall under warranty. I called up safelite customer care and they said that they have to go with whatever the technicians say. The installers called up there supervisor and he said that he would back up whatever the technicians said. It ended up taking MOST of the day --- (My appointment was at 9:00). I was assured by the manager that this would be taken care of. I was told that the part would be ordered, and I would receive a new key fob.
I heard back from him in December and another agent told me that the key fob was in but the other 'part' for programming the fob was still in transit and it would be in any day. I had hoped that I would be able to visit my dealership and get this reprogramming done over the winter break, and that did NOT happen. Awful, awful company. I had my windshield repaired by them in July 2022. I immediately noticed that the bottom of the windshield wasn't meeting the rubber gasket below it (I was assured that this part was just aesthetic and had nothing to do with keeping water out of the car). Regardless, it is meant to meet the rubber anyways, no one wants to see a gap between the two.
Anyways, when the weather turned to fall, I started noticing condensation on the inside of my windshield and instrument cluster. After noticing it a second time, I put a warranty claim in with Safelite to have the problem rectified. I brought my car in for the warranty claim a few days before Christmas 2022. They replaced the windshield and I went on my way. Later that night, I went out to move my vehicle and once again noticed condensation all over the inside of my windshield. I gave it a few days, but the problem did not subside. I again reached out to Safelite to remedy the issue, except this time I went to a different shop at the advice of my insurance agent.
I brought my car in on 12/31/22 for another warranty claim. I explained to the front desk person what the issue was, and he immediately asked "does the car have a sunroof". Now this should have nothing to do with a windshield, but this person clearly was looking for a scapegoat if he could find one. At any rate, they had the car for about an hour and I received a call from this front desk individual named Michael. Michael proceeded to tell me that the "bead underneath the windshield was 100% intact and that 100% there was no way water was getting into the car beyond this bead. I explained that I had photos and video evidence to the contrary, but Michael stood by the company line because what else could he do. I explained to him that I would be looking into alternative options to have this problem corrected as I know the issue will spring up again since they didn't do anything to correct the issue.
On top of all that, the windshield is now exposed at the top (again, another gasket up here that should be covering the windshield completely and is not), and their techs didn't even reattach my dash cam/red light detection monitor that plugs into the dash cam. I will be reaching out to my insurance company to see if I can get any assistance from them. I'd like to sue Safelite for their shoddy work, but I don't believe it is an option since I never paid for the work (was covered as a full glass claim by insurance). I don't believe subrogation is a two-way street with an insurance company, but I will see if I can initiate a new claim for a faulty windshield. I may also alert my state's Attorney General to their business practices.

On the day of the appointment they called and stated they were sorry but my windshield was not in stock. Okay crap happens. Schedule it again for a week later, once again that was cancel on the day of the appointment with no explanation this time. Reschedule for a week later, they were to show up between 8am - 12pm at my office. My office is right in front of the building where my car is parked so I see the entire front of my office.
At 11:30am I get a text from the installer stating they were there and if I did not respond to the text within 15 minutes they were going to their next appointment. I texted him back within 30 seconds and tried to call his number twice with no response. So, I reached out to his supervisor who reach out to the installer who claims he show up at 10:00am and waited for 15 minutes and then sent me a text. Well, he was never there at 10am and the text I received was at 11:30 so he lied to me and his supervisor. I was informed he was already at his next appointment and could not get back to me until 3pm. I said that was fine. I did throw a bit of a fit and to my surprise my tech showed up 10 minutes later.
As he was getting ready to install the windshield he called me out to let me know he was unable to install the windshield as it had 4 scratches on it. Asked him was it not part of his job to inspect the windshield before he headed out of the shop. His answer was it was too dark when he left the shop this morning. Whatever, so once again it was reschedule for the next week. After all these problems I was assured they would remove the upcharges for new wipers, etc... A week later and here we are today, the tech showed up on time, showed me the windshield and assured me he inspected it before he loaded into his van. Gave him my keys and went back to work. 1.5 hours later he called to let me know he was done so I went to meet him.
First thing he said was good news, the windshield has been replaced. But, the bad news was they would have reschedule another install as there was a part missing that they were unable to replace the rear view mirror. I looked at him and said, "You understand it's actually illegal to drive without one in place." His answer was to talk to his manager. Well I did, and he told me he would call me back once he was able to reschedule the install so I promptly told him no, I would wait on the phone until it was reschedule. He scheduled for 10 days out. I said unacceptable to ask me to drive an illegal car on the road due to this unless they wanted rent me a truck until the issue was resolved. He said that was not an option so I said 10 days is not an option.
Long story short they rescheduled it for 2 days later but was cautioned that the glue they use may not be cured and could drip onto my paint job and cause damage. So, I told him that was a risk they would have to take and repair any damage they cause after all they are asking me to risk my safety in driving without a rear view mirror. I then got a text with a receipt for the charges they told me were removed. This has been by far one of the worst experiences I've had with any customer service company. Not sure how they got so big when they have so many problems. Lets hope in 2 days everything goes well.

Called for a quote to replace windshield (crack from rock too large to repair). Was quoted $2,000! I asked SEVERAL times if I was hearing her correctly- I kept repeating $2,000?? She confirmed. Five minutes later she calls back and leaves message on voicemail saying she gave me the “insurance quote” but if I was paying cash it would be around “$450”. So apparently they are scamming insurance companies out of a LOT of money!!!!

I was approved by Geico to replace my back window, I had 4 different appointments because they order the wrong parts or that the glass did not arrived on time. I try to get the OEM so I authorize them to order OEM for a quote of $150, so when I arrived, I was told that it was going to be $350 because it was the wrong glass, so of course Safelite blame Geico and Geico blame Safelite. So you know we are caught in the middle, so I got so tired of the game that I told them that the after market was fine as long as it was matching quality!!!
Well they did not inspect the glass well, and after it was installed the window looks like it has a scratch in the middle and the seals for the middle window are not touching the glass, how is going to stop the water if is not touching in at least 4 different spots??? So their answer so far, they are making me an appointment every week till I get lucky and we get an after market that does not have the defective sections, instead of just put and OEM THAT TO THEIR ADMISSION, IT DOES NOT HAVE THIS TYPE OF PROBLEMS. Even the tint on this window is not as dark as my original and the defogger lines are way spread out so obviously this is a very cheap China product, NOT LIKE THE ONE ON MY TRUCK.

If I could give zero stars I would. Safelite in the Bronx on zerega Ave has the worst service/customer service I've ever experience. Before taking my car, I called multiple times to make sure they had the correct glass because I have a special addition vehicle. They assured me they matched the glass to my specific car. I took my car to have the rear glass installed after a break in. Of course they installed a different glass. Three days later it rained heavy, all the water got in my trunk. I went back and was told there was an air leak and water leak test done and they found no leak. I was told they would fix it but needed a replacement glass to do so as back up. I had an appointment, I showed up to be told, the part never came. They would call me when it arrived in two or three days. Never received a call.
I called a week later to be brushed off and put on hold for 30 mins, every time I called back no one answered. Here's when it gets really interesting, technically the glass was never installed, it is literally pasted/glue on top of my door, there's a rubber piece that is supposed to fit in the seam for the window. Instead it's covering a nice portion of my rear lights. The guy I spoke to responded to all of this with a sarcastic, "Oh wow that sounds messed up," before leaving me on hold for 30 min.

So we scheduled to have a technician come and replace a back windshield on a Mercury Grand Marquis. We had this appointment scheduled out a week before they came to do it. They even told me which technician would be servicing the vehicle that day. Night before he calls to confirm. He leaves it on my voicemail, and he confirms for a Grand Prix. Now I had to go back in my information to make sure that it wasn't an error on my part, which it was not. So I figured he just misspoke over the phone. Well, he was scheduled to be to my address between 8am - 12pm... He gets ahold of me through text to call him. So I do.. He tells me he isn't gonna be able to make it until sometime between 12 to 3pm so I say okay...
It rounds noon.. 1230... I contact him to find out exactly when he will be there..He tells me not until 330pm. So my entire day was shot... Waiting around... Then when he got there he gets out and walks over. He takes 1 look and says, "It's vinyl top." I said, "Yes, it IS a Mercury Grand Marquis! They weren't made without a vinyl top." He tells me he isn't sure if he can replace that window. Says he doesn't know how to go around the vinyl top then says he may not even have the correct window with him. What???! This appointment was made a week prior and you're telling me you don't look to make sure you have the correct windows for the vehicles you will be working on??! You mean to tell me Safelite hires incompetent people that don't know how to do their damn jobs?
I mean the guy was totally uninterested in trying to figure it out... He told me I would have to take it to a auto upholstery place, have them pull the vinyl off and while it sits in that shop I am supposed to make a appointment with Safelite to go to the shop and set the window in.... WHHHAAAATTT? SO NOW, you quote me a 2004 Grand Marquis Mercury.. 540.00... is gonna turn into a 2000.00 bill by the time is all said and done for just a back window replacement on the word of one of these 'technicians'... Oh and it's worth mentioning that he called his supervisor and it was his supervisor that told him that, that is what I would have to do.... Ya know what... Because of that tech's ignorance... I am not using Safelite anymore.
I have chosen to use a local shop which is only charging me 295.00 for the window and installation and they are not even gonna take the vinyl off... Hmm... How is that our small local shop can do something a big bad corp glass place charges more than half for???! Shameful. I used them to replace my front window, 585.99... That went pretty well aside from the hit my wallet took. I would rather pay less for better service at our local shop. Thanks.

Safelite is a SCAM. You call them to come out and fix small cracks in your windshield, they come out and do a half decent job, you still see cracks that look like they haven't been filled, they tell you, "no worries, cracks are still suppose to be visible, but have no fear, we did the job." After following all protocols, several days later, you go to your car, the entire windshield is cracked, starting from that small crack, they supposedly fixed. I call them, they're quick to give you a refund, BUT, not for damaging your windshield. The only solution was, I had to buy a brand new windshield, out of my pocket. That's the catch. They half fix your crack, which is free through Insurance, then force you to buy a brand new windshield, or ride around with a huge crack. Customer service is great though. They're really nice. Lol.

New windshield was installed but I noticed defective rubber strip on top and missing molding! Tech never mentioned defect! 2 afternoons wasted. Rescheduled a week later when windshield and molding would be available. 3rd attempt and windshield replacement as well as molding look fine. As I was driving home it started raining and wipers would not work. Stop as I could not see to drive.
Called Safelite. Finally got through to tech. Asked if there was anything I could do to fix wipers. Told to check bolts that hold them onto wiper motors. Bolts were only hand tight and one was missing cover? Tightened as much as possible but still not working and I am stuck on side of road in the rain. I was told come back to shop as they could not come to me for an hour or more and would call back. Waited for rain to stop @ about 5pm and drove home. Never have heard back? “3 Afternoons Wasted." I would not recommend having work done with Safelite Auto Glass at the McKinney, Texas location, for the following reasons; Manager was angry and annoyed from the introduction with our claim, that morning... Informing myself and spouse they were under staff, and stated that the glass for the replacement of our Windshield was not in, ...And that we would need to reschedule the appointment...(We called the day before reference the windshield at the Plano warehouse and it had been since delivered to the Safelite address in McKinney....Only after pressing him (manager) did he go back in his warehouse to confirm and check. (I did it online 8/20/2022 with appointment schedule 9/1/2022.) Later at the time of closing (James) Technician informed it was his last day and that they were unable to calibrate the windshield after several attempts....(Why tell us it's his last day?)
Earlier that morning the manager further stated that they would waive the $250 dollar deductible because of their lack of communication among their staff and miscues...As long as we gave the technician a unblemished score of 9/10s which ultimately affected their pay....We were called at approximately 5:30 pm that evening and we needed to be there to pickup the vehicle, by 7:00 pm ultimately arriving 30 minutes later at 6:00 pm noticing the windshield was in place. I observed through the window at time of pickup no attempt to recalibrate had been observed...James further stated we needed to go to the dealership to have it calibrated....And made no attempt to explain or have a remedy to the situation. To add insult to injury they tore the toll tag off the old windshield and haphazardly slapped it crookedly on the glass leaving also the large window sticker of the new glass on....
I went back in to complain on the shoddy workmanship and asked the manager what about "attention to detail"...That request fell ultimately fell on deaf ears and he stated I could order a new toll tag....It was apparent everyone wanted to get off work as it was the last car for the day.... The following day at Hyundai/Genesis .. The technician (dealership) informed us that it took approximately 2.5 to 4 hours to recalibrate which they accomplished. The Technician (Hawk) further added that they most likely did not attempt or did not have the software for the diagnostic check....to begin with.
I subsequently ended paying $338.00 dollars for the calibration getting reimbursed which ultimately set us out not only the $250 deductible payback but an additional $88.00,...Thankfully USAA our banking institution made us whole. I sent a letter to USAA explaining the very poor customer service and workmanship with this particular location....Finally I would highly recommend those out there to go to their dealership for glass issues....

I recently had my rear windshield broken by vandals throwing a cinder block through it while I was in a parking garage. Called the police, then my insurance company who told me I could call whatever glass company I wanted, or I could use Safelite and they would schedule the repair. I was stranded in a parking garage with just a cell phone, so I opted for Safelite. The earliest they could take me was 2 days later! No coming out to where I was like they show in their commercials. So I had to drive 30 miles home, on highways and bumpy back roads, with glass flying out the back where the window used to be.
When I got home, I had to tape a tarp over the window to keep out rain. Got the window replaced but they did not clean the glass out of the trunk or the back seat of the car. I vacuumed the best I could (not having the powerful industrial strength vacuums I’m sure they had) and 6 weeks later, I’m still finding pieces of glass. I even had to take my granddaughter’s car seat apart to get all the glass out of the cracks, nooks and crannies. What a pain. I would never patronize this company again. Never.

The quality at the Port Charlotte FL location is....well for lack of better description....piss poor. My wife’s 2019 jeep windshield was replaced on 8/2. When she brought the car home after the work she wanted me to look at her windshield wipers. I did and noticed right away they were not timed correctly; they were crossing one another. So of course, I took a deeper dive at the job and noticed the trim at the lower edge of the new glass was damaged. This trim is part of the new glass, it is not off the old glass so clearly it should not be chipped up, cracked, and have what looks like it was gripped with some kind of pliers, which is exactly what it looked like. I also noticed some minor scratches in the paint and where the "technician" was leaning on the car his sweat was left behind on the front edge of the roof, both fenders and hood at both sides of the vehicle and he left his safety glasses in the cabin of the vehicle.
I brought the jeep back right away to show the issues. Immediately management wanted to deny any issues. They could not see any issues with the wiper arms, yet it was clearly obvious they were crossed over each other. They said the car needed a wash and that the sweat makes were not from the “technician” and the scratches were there before any work was done. They tried to discount the damaged trim as if it’s not a big deal.
I did inform the person who was ready to just argue nothing is wrong that this is not correct. When the vehicle came in there was no damage to the window trim, the glass was replaced because of a rock impact that resulted in a long crack. The wipers did not go out of time by themselves and the sweat smears and scratches did not appear by themselves. It is clear the “technician” does not have enough of pride in his work that he never checked his work. If he had checked his work, he would have found the timing issue with the wipers, he would have wiped down where ever he had touched the car and would not have damaged the new glass when he installed it. Secondly if there is a “quality control” within the store, that department failed. Then management to try to deny?
They assume all the customers are ignorant of how things should work. This is a big mistake. I just retired from the automotive repair industry, at many of the places I worked at, this would be a fileable offence. They did agree to re-replace the glass on 8/8 and during the time I was showing the crappy work agreed to retime the wipers right then and there. So as of now the wipers do work correctly, I’ll inconveniently drop off the car to have the crap work reworked on 8/8 and hope someone else who actually cares about the work they do does the job.

Safelite replaced my cracked windshield. But they failed to properly seal it, resulting in water seepage and some serious electrical damage. They refused to pay, citing their warranty required me to notify them before making any repairs. But what they don't consider is:
1....the fact that we couldn't have known what the cause of the electrical issues were until after the repair shop removed the dash and found a rusted out fuse box (on a new 2 year old Honda HRV). It was then that the mechanic determined that water had been seeping in under the dash and causing the electrical issues. It was a direct result of the windshield not being sealed properly.
2....Even if we had known the cause, we could not have made an emergency appointment with Safelite prior to the repairs because their calendar was already full. And I sure didn't want to wait any longer on repairing my car. It is my daily transportation.
When I did eventually return to have the faulty windshield replaced, they only re-sealed the existing windshield rather than replacing it. Because Safelite refuses to acknowledge any responsibility, I am having to sue them for the cost of repairs and legal fees. I will never use Safelite again and can never recommend them because of their sloppy work and fake warranty. Now I am having to sue for the cost of repairs.

7/25/2022 2:00PM. When the technician arrived, I made a point of showing him the end seals for the glass which were inside the hatchback door on the respective sides of the vehicle so he could reinstall them. He finished his work and left. I needed to remove some items from the rear of the car. When I opened the hatchback, there was a trim retainer laying there as well as a bunch of the glass pieces from the broken glass. On inspection, I found that the left side trim did not fit as tight as the right side so I assumed that it came from that side. When I pulled the trim panel to install the retainer, I saw that he did not connect the right side wire for the glass heater. With the trim off, I also could see that he did not remove the tape he used to hold the glass in place when he installed it.
I found that the molder rubber end seals were not installed and they were nowhere to be found. Apparently, he took them with him. Without those seals, water tracks horizontally along the glass to the end. With the seals, it is stopped from coming back into the car. Without the seals, water will collect in the hatch back interior of the car. I am very disappointed with Safelite Auto Glass service this time.

So this left me with a SUV I couldn't drive for the weekend. But I was promised it would be fixed Monday. Monday rolls around and I received a text the tech would be onsite between 1-5. When 5pm came and went I called the manager Everet at the local store, and he said they didn't have me on the books for today. When I explained my car was undrivable, he promised to send someone out first thing in the morning.
Tuesday rolls around and the tech comes out and addresses the crack windshield. However when trying to reassemble my SUV, he was left with an extra screw and 2 panels in the interior. He could not figure out how to put them back and a missing rain sensor, that the other tech kept and forgot to give it to him. After 2 hours being on the phone with his techs in the store, he explained I would need to bring the car into the shop to fix. So I drove the hour to the store and met with the manager. He was sorry for the trouble and agreed to refund me 150.00 dollars for the recalibration fee they charged me 250.00 dollars for.

I spent the morning relocating the car to shaded areas since they can't work on a hot windshield.

I have a new Ram truck that got a chip in the front window right after I bought it. I took it to Safelite located at 26175 Jefferson Ave, Murrieta, CA on March 18, 2022 and after talking to the Rep. I decided to get the chip filled instead of a window replacement. I was told if I didn’t like the results they would apply what I paid ($123.83) for the chip repair toward the cost of a new window if I was buying it or to the copay if I was going through my insurance. Needless to say I didn’t like the results so I called my insurance company and opened a case to replace my window with factory glass. On April 9th, 2022, I went down to the same Safelite office I mentioned above to get my window replaced.
When I got there I thought I would just have to pay the difference from my $250 insurance co-pay and the $123.83 that I already paid. But they told me I had to pay my full insurance co-pay ($250) so there would be no issue with the insurance company complaining as to why I didn’t pay the full co-pay and then I would get $123.83 refunded back to me. Will I waited for weeks and never got any refund. So I called Safelite to ask why I haven’t received my refund yet. Let me say, trying to get through Safelite’s automated phone system to speak to a person is ridiculous. When I finally got through to a person, I was told they don’t do that and I will not be getting a refund.
Will, I wasn’t happy and told her that “Safelite just ripped me off then and it seemed like they scammed me like a shady sales company would do to get an extra $123.83 out of me.” I would have never agreed to get the chip repaired with my new truck had I known this would have happened. I had it less than a month and would have just gotten the window replaced from the beginning. The person I talked to on the phone was flippant with me and said she would have the site Manager where I had the repair done call me and I never received nothing. I’ve used Safelite many times over the years and even when my insurance company ask me to use another company I told them I wanted Safelite but now, how could I ever recommend or use Safelite again? They just ripped me off! We all see the Safelite commercials and to be honest if they can rip me off they can rip you off as well. Beware!!!

If you have this branch replacing your window, BEWARE!!! They were scheduled to do a rear glass replacement at my home. Before the appointment, I vacuumed all excess glass from the rear door area. My rear door was fully functional. I then left the van parked for the remainder of the week (4 days) only duct taping plastic over the damaged rear window. My wife was home when the technician arrived. After working on the replacement for an hour, the technician tells my wife that the rear door will not open/close. He tells her that he has to take it to the shop (15 min. drive w/traffic) across town. 3.5hrs later, my wife texts me at work telling me that the technician still has not brought the van back. She then calls the technician asking where is he with the van. He responded that he'll bring the van back. A total of 4hrs had passed that the van was taken from our home.
Upon returning the van, the technician told my wife that the door was STILL unfunctional, gave her a receipt and left. When I got home from work (10min after the tech left), she tried to explain what the tech explained. The next day (on a Sat.), I went to the location to question the details, but nobody was there that knew the details. Went back there on Mon (after work) and spoke with the Assist. Mngr. He explained that the "story" that they are sticking to and he ended it by saying, "There's nothing we can do about it. It's mechanical. We only replace windows." He suggested I take it to the dealership to get the door fixed. The first incident of them denying responsibility for damaging my rear door. Now at this time, there was no paperwork or report detailing anything that was being said that documented what happened with my van.
After going to the dealership (and an additional $160 later), the dealership diagnosed the door issue (in 30min) and showed me that the door will not function because it was misaligned. They gave me documentation of the diagnosed findings. I returned to the Cherry Hill location, with the documentation, explained what was discovered. I was told that the manager would give me a call on Mon. I received no call on Mon. I called Tues-Thurs with the same result; automated voice service that leads to an ended call never speaking to any person.
The following Tues, I appeared back at the location and reluctantly spoke to the same Assist. Mngr. that I had spoken to before. Now that I have proven this responsibility falls on them, he asked me what am I looking forward to resolve this. I said that I want my door fixed and reimbursement of the $160 spent for the dealership diagnosis. This begins 2nd incident of them denying responsibility. He continuously attempts apologizing but still "sticking to the story" and tells me that he will have the manager call me. When the manager called, I explained to him all of the facts:
1. The door was functioning perfect before the tech arrived for the appointment.2. The tech worked on the window replacement, for an hour, at my home claiming the door was not functioning after the window was replaced.
3. The tech took my van from my home, to the shop for 4hrs, returning the van STILL with the door not functioning. Presenting my wife with only a receipt of payment.
4. Following the advice of Safelite, I took the van to the dealership and the dealership was able to determine the door is misaligned and provided documentation of their findings.
I then asked the manager where is the documentation of his tech's findings. The manager admitted that there is none, but began "back-peddling" by saying, "The receipt is documentation." From this point on, the manager refused to admit responsibility. I then demanded that he present every document that the office has on file in reference to the service of my van ready for me to pickup after I get out of work. All that was provided, was a computer version of the receipt of payment. No report or documentation, of any kind, has been presented as evidence that there was no fault on their behalf.

I've been working on my 1998 Ford E150 for about 7 months now restoring it and preparing it for travel around the US. I've reached the point where I'm about to paint the van and decided to have the windshield replaced due to some scratches and a couple of small chips. It did not need to be replaced but figured since I'm restoring it and before I paint it, it would be nice to have new glass to look out of.
I used the Safelite website to order the replacement glass, ordered it for $425.67 (incl. FL tax) and was provided a date for installation - cool. The date arrives, the tech comes at ~8:15AM looks for rust around the windshield, sees none, then proceeds to pull the windshield out. Awesome, I'm going to have new glass today!
After about 10 minutes I go out to see how things were going and the tech tells me he's glad I came out, he found some rust under the molding and should be able to sand it out and prime it for the seal to take. Perfect. Can't wait for it to be done. Another 20 mins goes by and I go back outside to see where things are at and the tech informs me that there is a small hole where the rust was and he cannot install the windshield. I said "I can fix that in no time. A little body filler and primer/paint and we’ll be good.” And the installer tells me they will not install the windshield with body filler used. Instead the tech informs me I should have the vehicle towed to a local body shop (~$120.00), have them cut out the metal, weld in new metal (~$300.00+), then they'll come back out to install the glass (for a total of ~$850).
OK, so what if I don't have the money to pay another ~$500.00 to have this done? Oh I'll tell you what... They expect you to be without a vehicle until you do. I was left with a vehicle with no windshield and some sticky plastic to cover the hole. So Safelite comes out, rips my windshield out, leaves me with no vehicle, and expects that I’m going to have the vehicle towed so someone else can repair the frame? OK, who's going to pay for all that?! Well you are of course.
I get it, they want to avoid any liability in the future. OK fair enough. However, they left my van with a giant hole in it NOW, far bigger than the hole the size go a 5-penny nail. I live in FL where it pours at the drop of a hat and they're going to leave me with NO windshield? What in the actual... Low and behold, it pours that night. I was up at 3AM because I heard it raining, I go outside to check if water is leaking in… it was. I had to pull the van halfway into the garage because it won't fit with the exhaust fan that was recently installed. Now I have to leave the garage door open while I'm sleeping so the inside of the van won't get wet by leaking through the plastic put over the gigantic hole they left to leak and were so afraid of happening in the future.
This is absolutely unacceptable and I do not blame the tech, they’re following Safelite policy. I blame Safelite for their terrible policy of leaving people without a vehicle, a giant hole where the windshield sits, in a state where it pours daily, and expect the customer to fork over money for a tow before they finish what they started. I called the local Safelite office and immediately asked for a refund. They cancelled the order, which when pre-paid issues a refund. I’ve not seen the refund come through yet but apparently from what I’ve read, when a refund is issued you do not get the entire payment back — yeah, let that happen.
I called the corporate office to speak with someone about how to proceed and was informed because there’s a small amount rust, nothing can be done until it’s “professionally” fixed. I asked to speak with a manager, was put on hold for about 10 minutes and was told they were on the line with someone else and I would get a call back. 2 hours went by and I called again and was put through to the district manager (DM). I informed the DM how dissatisfied I was for being left in this position: stranded to my home with no windshield to get anywhere. It could be weeks before someone got to my van. I went to a mechanic to have some things looked at and it was 2 weeks before they could get me in.
The DM said they would call the local shop to see what they could do for me and stated they didn’t answer so they left them a VM; I should hear from someone soon, they said. It’s now been 5 hours since that conversation and I’ve heard nothing from anyone. I’m so beside myself with this. As a former business owner and contractor, I would NEVER put a paying customer in such a position and, to me, it’s absolutely unacceptable. The lifetime warranty is already void because of the issue, therefore, let them fix it and sign a waiver of liability. You do not leave them stranded and force them to pay hundreds more.
What if someone didn’t have the money? Money is not the issue here for me, it’s principle. I’ve done plenty of body work in my days and I know that Butyl sticks to pretty much EVERYTHING, not just factory painted metal. I will never use this company again and I won’t ever recommend them to anyone. Great customer service, Safelite. Absolutely horrendous.

Horrible experience with Safelite. 2011 BMW 3281. 6 inch crack in windshield from rock on the beltway. First attempt to repair left with 3 inch gap in the weather stripping. I called it in as a warranty situation and a different tech came out and attempted to fix it. He left the car with a broken windshield and black sealant handprints all over the car. That was called in again for warranty and I was informed that I had to wait two weeks for the sealant to set from the botched install before the glass could be replaced again. Two weeks later a third tech came out and replaced the broken replacement glass.
I thought that was the end of it. But now when it rains my floorboards fill with water. I noticed the trim/molding near the glass was not seated properly. A month later I had the car in for other service and pointed out my concerns. They informed me that many of the clips on the trim, should and cowl are broken and all that will need replacement, $1200. I do not trust Safelite to ever touch my car again, warranty or no warranty. After disassembly of the area to gain access, they discovered additional amateur attempts with the black window sealant caked up and spewed everywhere. While they were attempting to razor knife away all the excess sealant, they ended cracking the cheap aftermarket windshield.
They are replacing that with genuine BMW glass at their expense. They use the same installer for glass that the local BMW dealers use. I called my insurance company for help, but they said all warranty issues must go through Safelite and there was no recourse from them. Safelite is dead to me. They will never touch my car again.

On December 20, 2021, I brought my vehicle to my local Safelite Autoglass (Columbia, MO) for a warranty repair on a windshield they previously replaced in November, 2019. Safelite advertises a "Nationwide Lifetime Warranty" which sounds fantastic, however, that's where their service ends. The windshield I purchased from Safelite developed a stress crack that began on the edge of the driver's side, and progressed toward the passenger side. There was no impact, or evidence of such. In fact, glass impacts caused by projectiles leave very, very clear evidence in the form of: concentric fracturing (spiderwebbing) and compressed glass. Think of *any* bullet hole in glass, or *any* time a rock cracks a window or windshield. It was painfully obvious the windshield simply developed a crack due low quality manufacturing, poor installation, or possibly both.
Upon scheduling the warranty repair and taking my vehicle in on the Dec. 20th, the technician commented "Oh, this is a warranty repair. Let me look at the crack." Sure, no problem. The technician looked at the crack, felt it with his hand several times, looked at it from several angles, then removed a pen from his pocket, and traced it along the length of the crack, back and forth, until he stated he could "feel something" that indicated an object struck the windshield, causing the crack and voiding the warranty. Whatever the technician "felt" could not be observed by the naked eye. I told the technician I couldn't see what he was referring to, and he stated it was extremely faint, and "wouldn't take much" to crack one of their windshields.
I've spent at least three weeks going back and forth with Safelite and the Better Business Bureau, to no avail. After contacting the BBB, a customer service agent contacted me, promised I would receive additional calls from regional management to conduct a second inspection, etc... Of course, none of that happened, and after reaching out to the BBB again, I was told by Safelite a second inspection was not necessary, as their technician "clearly" found an impact point, though they refused to reveal what evidence suggested such. I strongly feel Safelite advertises a false warranty, and upon reading other complaints and reviews, it is clear they regularly use similar "mystery" impacts to deny many other customers, as well. I deeply regret conducting any business with Safelite, and will continue to share my experience with others given any opportunity to do so.

I was referred to Safelite by Geico to replace my driver side glass. I have paid them the full cost of replacement and still after 3 month the replacement is not completed and they have caused me so much trouble. Here is a summary of my experience with Safelite: 1. I made an appointment and after about a month, the technicians showed up at my place (I paid extra for mobile service) with a new glass which upon opening the box in front of me they discovered the new glass is shattered! 2. The technicians left and found another glass at a warehouse and came for glass replacement, however they were obviously unskilled in replacement and they were trying to figure out how to do the replacement on-site which I found very strange.
3. When I used my car in a couple of days I realized the new installed window would not close. A new technician was sent to fix the issue after a few weeks. 4. The new technician told me that the window does not close due to poor glass installation which caused damage to molding and he will get a new molding installed. We also discussed the installed glass low quality and he said he will have a new high quality glass installed.
5. After he left, I made multiple attempts over several weeks via phone to get the next appointment scheduled, stating that the window does not close and it gets cold inside the car. The response I got over the phone was things like "this is not our problem" and often they did hang up the phone without addressing my questions or helping to make an appointment. 6. After several weeks a Customer Advocate reached out via email and made an appointment for a technician to come fix it on 12/28 but no one actually showed up that day. This whole thing has been going on for ~3 months!

Definitely do not recommend. As I am writing this, my car is still not finished, and they have provided absolutely terrible customer service. I had an appointment a week ago to get my windshield fixed in my driveway. The technician came out and told me that I would have to bring it to a body shop because there was rust under the windshield. Fine, I understand that so I found a body shop and left the car there and let Safelite know where it would be.
The technician called yesterday morning and said he was on his way there, but failed to update me at all throughout the day. I finally called the technician on his number at the end of the day. He said he was just waiting for the body shop to finish but he wouldn't have time to do it that day so he would be back the this morning. I have had no update from the technician all day. I called his number and got no answer. His voice mailbox was full. I tried calling the company. Everyone I spoke with was completely unhelpful, and some were just outright rude. I asked for a supervisor and someone from the office named Steph called back (and I don't know where this was since there are a lot of different locations and numbers and no one seems to know what is going on). I asked if they had an update on my car and she said no, that someone just told her to call. She was absolutely unhelpful.
I tried the website, and my appointment could not be found, so I tried webchat. I was provided a different number online which connects to a different auto glass place (Champion auto glass??), and the voicemail just says: "I can't pick up now, please call back." No info about who I was calling or where they were. Everyone I talk with tells me something different. They were all extremely rude and unhelpful. I ended up screaming at them in frustration, which I know is not productive, but I am not sorry. They are horrible. They don't seem to have any way to contact their technician.
The Safelite people told me it was my responsibility to coordinate with the body shop, even though the technician had told the body shop yesterday that he was coming back. I spoke with the body shop again, who said they were done and were just waiting on him to come by and finish, since that is what he told him he would do. I called the company again to let them know that I had spoken again with the body shop, and that they were just waiting on the technician.
Now, Safelite said that the body shop would have to be the one to call them, even though I just told them that I had just spoken to the body shop and they were just waiting on the technician. The body shop is calling them now, but they are equally frustrated and says that someone has screwed up. I am still waiting on my car to be finished, and I not only did I have to take time out of work to try and contact these people, but I have not had access to my car so my family could get things done today. I really wish I could use a different company to finish this because I really don't want them to get any money for this. I will never use them again.

Said the warehouse sent the wrong glass. The office manager drives me home and tells me to come back the next day on the 27th and it will be ready. I picked up a trailer and drove back over to get my car. It was finished. I then hauled the car the next day to Schenectady New York On my way up I realized that there was no windshield molding around the glass and there’s a 3/4 of a inch gap between the edge of the glass and the windshield frame.
I called the store manager in Dothan Al. and explained to him that the molding was missing. He acted like he could care less and said several times that the molding is just for Cosmetics but if I had a problem with it the glass and install had a warranty and to just get with a branch in New York to do a warranty issue to get it fixed. I set up a warranty appointment with the Latham New York branch. A technician called me asking what exactly was the issue? I told him that the molding was missing and with the snow and ice being up north I’d like to have it put in plus the car came with it so it’s only right that it be replaced, it should be covered. He said to let him check to see if he had the parts to do it and he would call me back. Never heard another word from him.

Meanwhile they took the old front windshield out and disassembled the plastic around the windshield and did not put it back; obviously the crack increased in size and now it was along the whole glass. Do Yourself a Favor – Stay Away From This Business! If you’re considering taking your car to Safelite AutoGlass for repairs, please read this review so you understand up front how they operate. This business has very poor management, their workmanship is not consistent, and they are very inconsiderate of their customer’s time. Last January, I brought my Mercedes in to have the rear passenger window replaced due to a break-in. An older guy, who looked like he had a lot of experience, worked on my car. When he was finished, I checked it over, paid the bill, and gave him a tip for doing a great job. (Note: there is a window between the waiting room and the shop so you can watch the technicians working on your car).
Last Saturday, I brought my 4Runner in to have the windshield replaced and was not happy with the results. The guys who did the work were young - they were careless with my car and did sloppy work. They chipped the paint in several places, and one of the molding pieces doesn’t fit right because the guy damaged it when he yanked it off the car (I saw him do it). Also, there was a lot of excess adhesive on the car body around the windshield.
When they were finished with my car, I met one of the technician around front to look it over and pay - I told him I was not happy with their workmanship. Basically, he argued with me and gave me a bunch of excuses why the job should be acceptable. I was caught off-guard by all this and didn’t handle the situation the way I should have. I was expecting my car to look good, pay the bill and be out of there, but this was not the case. I asked him numerous times about the excess adhesive on the body, and he just kept saying, “That will come off.” He never once said anything about them taking it off for me, he just kept repeating himself, “That will come off.” He must have said it at least 6 times!
The molding on the passenger side of the windshield looks good, but the piece on the driver’s side has a bulge and a large gap. Once again, we went back and forth – I told him it didn’t look right and he kept repeating himself, “That’s how it went back in. It’s ok.” When I refused to go along with his argument, he said, “Well, this is an older car.” He repeated that numerous times. I wasn’t expecting all this drama and it completely caught me off-guard. In hindsight, I should have asked to speak to a manager and refused to pay until they fixed these issues, but I had been there for over 3 hours and needed to leave because I had someone waiting on me, so I paid and left.
What the technician was basically saying is that because it’s an older car, I shouldn’t expect the work to look perfect. That is ** because I have another 2003 4Runner just like this one and Gerber Collision replaced the windshield 2 years ago and it looks really good – there are no chips in the paint, they didn’t leave excess adhesive all over the place, and both of the side moldings look great.
In the past 12 months, I’ve taken 2 cars to this shop for glass replacements. Both times, I made an appointment, drove out to the shop, sat in the waiting room for over an hour, only to be told they didn’t have the correct glass for my car and I would have to come back. Evidently, this problem is very common with Safelite. While I was there last Saturday, the same thing happened to a woman who had been in the waiting room for over an hour.
I spoke to another woman who said this was her second trip - she left her car there for 4 hours, received several text messages that they were working on it, and then a message that it was finished and ready for pick-up. When she returned to the shop, she said her car was still parked where she left it, and nothing had been done. I made 2 trips to this place, spent over 3 hours there on Saturday, and the work they did was shoddy. To make matters worse, I had to deal with this guy who argued on and on with me that everything was ok and then asks me how I’m going to pay for it… What a NIGHTMARE!

They did replace the windshield after bumbling around for while and calling a second van. Then they damaged a gate post pulling out. The driver denied it and accused me of damaging it. The manager of the Westchester store then was rude and defended his driver. No customer service. Now going to corporate and to local police to resolve. They are very hostile to their customers. I'd avoid.

I showed up to my 1:30 appointment on time. I was told they were a little bit behind. Waited 45 minutes until they were finally able to take me in which at that time I couldn't stay had to pick up kids from school. Wasted an hour and a half of my day and 30 miles round-trip in a full-size truck. I called and asked if they would be able to come to my house and do it there and they wanted to charge me $20 more. The person on the phone said there was no one there that could do anything about it. All I would've asked for is a phone call letting me know that they are shortstaffed and that there's going to be a wait I could've save myself a trip and rescheduled. There are no less than six people in that office. All on the phone. One of them could've called me.

The technician showed up on time and did a great job or so I thought. Apparently he forgot to remove my security alarm and remote start, I know that he forgot because he almost ripped all of the wiring out of the receiver. At some point he realized it and stopped pulling, but it was too late, it no longer works. I called them to tell them and was told that I needed another technician to come out to ensure I am not lying. They made appointment from 1200-1600. I left my car and drove my wife's. At 1630 when they still had not showed up, I called and the technician lied and said he called and came by. So my advice is to use them at your own risk because they have absolutely NO CREDIBILITY!

Brought the wrong part and would not give me a new date for installation. Said a manager would call but never heard from one. This company sucks. Do not use them. They did not follow up on when they would install.

Called yesterday. Set up an appointment to get a new windshield for the blazer. Stressed several times windshield out already. Needed new windshield and rubber around it. Even give VIN # to ensure right windshield. Schedule for today and they screwed it up. The lady put it in for repair instead of new windshield. Sat here for 5hrs wasting my time. Another guy called. Said was not his fault. Expected me to leave our garage unlocked or to give someone else a key to our garage. Very rude people to deal with. I even called back and they basically said not their fault nothing they could do. This was their fault and they are not willing to work with their customer. Very unprofessional! I will never do business with them again.

I purchases a used car at Toyota of Plano, the front windshield had to be replaced. It was replaced under a special arrangement between Safelite and the Dealership in which there is no warranty. An independent glass company informed me that the Glass does not meet DOT safety regulations making it dangerous in case of an accident, The window leaked continuously across the top because the seal was not properly cleaned and primed, which has caused damage to the head line. Safelite has not answered my calls, and the dealership refused to help.

Safelite replaced windshield at Ford Dealership prior to us purchasing SUV. A year late the rubber seal started coming off around the top of windshield while going down the road. Since Safelite has a warranty, I called and they refused to fix it stating the warranty is void upon transfer of vehicle ownership. Ford dealership refuses to fix it stating it was a Safelite repair. With that being said, DO NOT use Safelite due to poor installation. Make sure to note when you purchase or sell your vehicle, the warranty is void! Going to refer other businesses than Safelite due to poor workmanship!

September 2. Had chip repair on windshield on lower passenger side about 2 " long. As soon as chip happened I didn't drive or wash until repaired. Repaired and tech said could take thru car wash now with no problem. Waited one day, then washed. Repair was done poorly as now getting worse. Tech told me if repair fails can get money placed towards new windshield, about 800 for new so would put the 60 (insurance paid) towards new windshield cost. Told me twice so I guess he would do poor job so I have to get new windshield. I never have seen such a poor job on chip repair that should have lasted a lifetime that is already failing just after a car wash.

I needed a windshield replaced and it was covered under my insurance. My agent called Safelite and had them call me. They exchanged all of the claim information. I lost the message so I called Safelite... What a JOKE. You have to go online now and cannot speak to anyone. They wanted me to go through all the things that were already done between Safelite and my agent. Safelite has lost all perspective on what customer service is all about. Dumping them for another vendor!!!!

They were very accommodating to schedule. Communication the whole way… They showed up exactly when they said and where they said and he left my windshield like nothing ever happened. Loved the service but above else the communication. Most places you hear radio silence until the work is done. They were very attentive and genuinely seemed interested in my satisfaction.

Recently had an appointment at 9am so that I can get to NC to see my son for his birthday. I get out of work at 4pm so I figured it would be a great appointment. They did not start my car till 12:30pm, received a call at 12:50pm saying they cracked it worse and cannot do the job that day. I let them know my plans, I was told drive it anyway. The window will not crash in on you. I said if it cracks and I can't see then what. I was told if I crash that's what insurance is for. Nonetheless, they refused me a rental or an apology for now having to miss my trip. Long story short, not only did I not get an apology I waited 7 days to get my car fixed. Was promised upper management would call to find out what happened.. Guess what? NO ONE EVER CALLED... HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!
