I was having these problems with my vehicle that ended up very expensive. I thought I’d give Protect My Car a try and see if they stand to their word of being able to pay a certain amount every month and then getting a service of paying a $100 while they do the repairs and stuff. It was a great connection with their rep during sign up, they found out the information that they need and conversed with me very politely. I had a claim and it was this thing that I wouldn’t have had the money to get done. It was thousands of dollars. They came to my aid and the service is very helpful. I wish they did the same for motorcycles, but I guess they don't have that type of service.

As always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to let us know. Thank you again for your very encouraging comments.

Protect My Car put in a new motor in the car. It took about three weeks to get it done because they didn't wanna pay the part and Barton Automotive didn't wanna put the engine that the warranty company wanted in the car. It took longer than I liked but it worked out and I had been satisfied.

Protect My Car interested me, so I called, asked about it and ended up signing up. My truck has a leveling kit on and I bought it that way. I was honest and I asked the rep if it was possible. He said I still qualified. One ime, I had a claim and at first, they told me they weren't going to cover it. I called back and told them I told the person about the leveling kit. Since they recorded it, I asked them to listen to it. They came back, honored it and they were very polite. All in all, unless something changes before my coverage is over, I would highly recommend them.

Protect My Car has saved me over almost $2,000 already. They are a life-saver as far as having a newer car or an older car. They have pretty much helped me out. I heard a radio ad for Protect My Car. And the warranty I had was about 6,000 miles from running out. So, I gave them a call and talked to them for a second to see what their options were. Their plans were as competitive if not better than most of the other places I had found. So, that’s what made me choose them. I’ve only had one claim. Someone from Protect My Car called me and let me know what they were covering and what they weren’t covering. It was fine. The customer service was acceptable. It was a water pump that I had replaced. And they were able to cover the pressure test, which was a big help. I was surprised with that. I was definitely happy that they covered that. My previous warranty didn’t cover any pressure test and I had to pay those out-of-pocket.

Thank you for choosing Protect My Car. Glad to have you.

It's good so far. But the miles comes so quick and the warranty only covers so many miles. When I started looking over the policy, it said 30,000 miles but that'll come in no time and way before five years.

Thank you for your comments. First, we checked the actual mileage on your coverage. You have a 60,000 mile coverage, so since your vehicle had 88,000 miles at the time of sign up, your coverage will last for 60 months or until your mileage exceeds 148,000 miles. Second, please don't worry. If you still have the vehicle at the end of your current coverage period we will be happy to offer coverage to replace the coverage that expired. Offering coverage plans at every stage of a vehicle's life is what we are good at and helps save you money. We are here to help.

I was scrolling through Facebook and I saw Protect My Car. I thought I could probably use the warranty and it’s easy to use. So, I clicked on it, got a quote, and it was not that bad. Then I signed up for it and the process was a little difficult. But the customer service was good. When my car broke down, I called them and they sent a tow truck driver over. Then my car got fixed. Its engine blew and all the rods blew on it. At the time, Protect My Car wanted to know how many oil changes I had on my car and how many miles it was on. I gave them all the information and that was pretty much all it needed. They were just trying to make sure that I changed the oil and all that. All in all, the warranty saves a lot of money and I would highly recommend it.

My mechanic recommended Protect My Car and purchasing it was easy. When I had a leak, I let them know and they sent me a note. The repair was made somewhere around a week. My mechanic called and checked with them, and it worked from there. They called and told me if they covered it or not and what the deductible was.

Thank you for your comments. We appreciate them very much. It really says a lot when your own mechanic recommends our company to help you with the cost of repairs. Far too often, mechanics are at the mercy of companies who care only about saving a buck rather then getting the right repair done right the first time. That is what sets Protect My Car apart. Most mechanics are both surprised and pleased by the assistance and cooperation we provide them.

Thank you for your comments. We were very glad to have helped you with that repair. As in your case, even if small portion of the repair is not to a covered item, we can usually get that part at cost and save you a ton of money. The claim was for the cooling system failure problem. The dealership handled everything relatively easily. One of the issues I’ve had is that wasn't the full claim that was processed. There was an issue with the thermostat and I felt like it was all connected. It should have been covered, but they said it wasn't. But even when you replace the coolant, you replace the thermostat.
But for the most part, this warranty has been good. I’m kinda iffy on the coverage per se. I drive a 2016 Dodge Charger and I use it a lot. I’m also a reserve police officer so I do a lot of traveling to and from towns. I do patrols, traffic details, and stuff like that so I had my vehicle equipped with lights. I have the option of having a departmental vehicle, but it’s just too much. The customer service people are very knowledgeable about what’s covered and what’s not. The only thing was that I didn’t really get a lot of feedback on as far as the engine coverage. The cost of an engine is $5,000 so if something happens with my engine or transmission I don't know if that's covered or considered a wear and tear.

Thank you for your comments. We certainly understand your concerns. Please do not hesitate to call if you have any questions about the extent of your coverage. As you said, our staff is very well trained and happy to assist you. Basically, your coverage is for "mechanical components", not fluids or wear and tear items like tires, windshield wipers and the like. If your engine fails due to a covered mechanical component failure, it would be a covered repair (or replacement).

I was using CarShield. And CarShield was trying to lower the amounts of what the repair people were asking and was causing it difficult. So what I did, I just went on ahead and move to Protect My Car because I felt like I'm paying CarShield every month and when they cover to pay some, they don't wanna pay what they're supposed to pay. And so when I took Protect My Car, they pay with no question. They cover everything like they just said. They take care of every part.
Sometimes, I think their wording on some of the contracts need to be changed because some of the stuff they have on the contract doesn't fit my contract. One example is if it’s an oil housing and my car, it's called a filter housing. So it was like just the same thing. But other than that, they cover exactly what they said. They go right on the claim. They investigate it and look at it, I leave it at the dealer, and there's usually no problem with it.

To answer your question about different terminology (great question by the way), our adjusters use part and manufacturer serial numbers to correctly identify all parts. That means no confusion about a part that different manufacturers call be different names.

Everything is going okay. They take out the payment every month and my car is good. I’m having no issues. But when I had a cooling system issue back in January, I paid over $700 because I ended up getting a tune-up and then they said my water pump was gone. So it didn’t work out. It was not good because where am I saving at when I'm paying this $85 a month to them? I want to be able to not pay high costs if something happens to my car. I wanna be able to be protected.

Thank you for your comments. We are glad we were able to pay for the replacement of your water pump. Your only cost on the $928.10 repair was the $100.00 deductible. The coverage paid the rest. The reason you had to pay for the tune-up is that the coverage is only for mechanical breakdowns, not regular maintenance or wear and tear items. By the way, that one repair saved you almost three times the cost of the premiums you have paid on for the coverage. That's why this coverage is so important. Thank you for being a valued customer. We appreciate your business.

Everything is working out fine with Protect My Car. The last thing that I got with them was an oil change. Before then, I had some motor mounts put on my car. I also wanted them to put on an axle and they said they were gonna do it. I had made a point with the mechanic, and I was supposed to take my car back for them to put the motor mount on and also to get the axle fixed on my car. It took about 3 weeks before the scheduled date for them to do that because my money only comes to me on the 3rd of the month.
When I took it to the repair shop to get the motor mount and the axle put on, the mechanic called them and they said they were not gonna do it ‘cause I rode on the axle too long. That was crazy because the axle was the same way it was when I took it back for them to put it on. That was a bunch of crap on their part. I was getting ready to end my contract with them so I talked to this dude because I was upset about that. I'm paying them every month and I didn’t like that at all. Instead of putting my axle on, they give a few little perks which was the only time that they did. I thank them for the little perk, but at the same time, I needed the axle put on and I didn’t like how they did that. They need to make things a little more clear.

Thank you for taking time to provide your comments. We appreciate that very much. We are very pleased to have helped you with the recent repair and we look forward to helping you in the future when you need help.

The customer service reps of Protect My Car were friendly. They explained stuff. They told me that the longer I pay, the longer I have it, there's no obligation. I can cancel it at any time. They said everything was gonna be in the book, and if I had any questions, I could call back. So, I can either continue to pay my monthly payment until I get to the 75,000 miles or I can cancel it at any time.
Our recent claims experience went well. I was excited and relieved that I only had to pay my copayment. And it did take a little longer than what I expected to get the vehicle fixed because the dealership was a little overbooked and short-staffed. However, it took him three days before he got in touch with someone to square away the work that needed to be done and what was covered and what was not. And then after he finally got the approval, he worked on the vehicle, told me what I had to pay and I paid it when I picked up my vehicle.

At first, Protect My Car was telling me they weren't gonna cover something on my car which I thought they should've covered. I figured that anything that has to do with the running of my car should've been covered. They made it seem like I won't have to worry about the bill on my car repair anymore because they would try to cover my car for it to have longevity. They didn’t say that they were gonna take out some of the most critical parts for the car's operation. Also, there were some loopholes that make their policy almost impossible to understand.
I went on to read the fine print where they discuss what they cover and those things won't break unless there is a major breakdown in my car. But, there are little preventive things that happen which they don't take care of. So, I would end up having to pay a big bill on my vehicle anyway. I was under the impression that I would no longer have to be worried about those types of things but that turned out to be false.
When I told them about the part of my camshaft that they said their warranty wasn't gonna cover, they said: “If we don’t cover this and then the camshaft itself breaks, then we’re not gonna cover the camshaft.” I said that was impossible and we went back and forth. Still, they ended up fixing my issue anyway because I wanted to cancel my warranty. If they want my car to totally break down before they fix the problem, they're gonna try to find a way to say that things were my fault.

Thank you for your opinion. The fact is, every company, including ours, balances the cost of the coverage against the cost of repairs to make sure the coverage is affordable for the consumer and still profitable for the company so we can stay in business and continue to help our customers. Look at it this way, would you rather pay a small premium and have 80% of the potential repairs covered, or no coverage, save the premiums and pay 100% of all repairs? That is a choice each person can make once they examine and understand the different types of coverages available. We are here to help you understand anything you have any questions about. I have submitted a couple of claims with Protect My Car. It took a while but they did approve my claim. I've submitted a repair on one of my truck and at first, they told the people that my truck didn't qualify for the repair that it needed. So, I had to go in and look at the policy and call them back and let them know that it did qualify. So, they got somebody else to look at it. It did qualify, got approved and they paid for it right away. Protect My Car needs to make sure that some of their representatives are familiar with what's in the policy. One thing I did not like is that they don't send the actual policy and I had to request that they send me something that I could have in my hand. Then I had another claim on my other car and they had to send an inspector out. They got that approved and they paid their part and I paid what I was supposed to.

I don't believe in insurance for cars because I’ve always bought good cars. I've had three Volvos that I took up to 400,000 miles. Nothing ever went wrong with them. We haven't spent a penny other than just the basic maintenance. I've also had two Passat diesels before this one and I had 130,000 on both of them. The first one was one of the buyback, but I never spent a penny. Volkswagen bought it back because it was part of that cheating program. However, I may be retiring shortly and my income's gonna drop a little bit, so I thought maybe I'll get the insurance.
I did a little shopping around and Protect My Car's prices were good. I also didn't see a lot of negative things about the company. One day, I went in for typical service, an oil change, and the shop said that there was a broken engine mount. They said that it was 380 and I told them I had coverage. They called Protect My Car and things went smoothly. It took a little while to go through though. I was in the lobby waiting for my car and it took 40 minutes. Still, I had to pay a $50 deductible and if I didn't have to pay something, I'm always happy.

Thank you for your analysis. It can make sense to those who can afford an expensive car repair, but for those who cannot come up with $500 or more dollars spur of the moment, coverage like this really makes sense. After all, breakdowns almost always happen without any warning. While you can save for a repair, you run the risk that the repair will be required long before you are able to save enough to cover the repair. When you really need a vehicle that really puts you in a hard place.
We hear every day from folks who are very glad they had the foresight to get coverage before that big breakdown occurred. We work hard to make sure your experience with Protect My Car is a positive one and that the whole process, from choosing the right coverage, to making sure it is comfortable on your budget, to fast and efficient claims service, towing and rental car benefits, gives you great peace of mind.

When I was signing up, I was told the cover was a lot, but when I took the car to the dealers, they said, "No, the warranty doesn't cover that one." My husband's car was fully covered. I paid for the warranty to fully cover it. But mine was only 50% because it was the way Protect My Car had with the mileage. I wasn't too happy about that.

Thank you for your comments. You should know that the high mileage on your vehicle makes it almost impossible to get any coverage, no matter which company you go to. Some companies do offer coverage, but are very limited in the components being covered. Our coverage reduces you cost of repairs by 50% on all mechanical breakdowns, pays for oil changes, towing and roadside assistance, along with other benefits. For such a low premium we hope that reducing your repair costs by 50% would be better for you than saving the premium but having to spend 100% on your repairs. Let us know what you think.

Protect My Car gave me a call and I signed up with them. I have the contract for about four to five months now and I recently submitted a claim. They explained to me how it worked, then they sent me over to the Pep Boys. The only thing is, I was without my car for three days and I wasn’t aware that I was entitled to a rental. Other than that, everything else went well.

Thank you for your comments. We are glad to have assisted you with your repair. Your coverage includes reimbursement for rental car expenses in most cases. We'll have our claims department get in touch with you to help you with that expense. There are a number of additional benefits built into your coverage. All of these are explained in the coverage booklet, but don't hesitate to give us a call. We are here to help you get the most out of your overage.

I always need a service contract with my vehicle and I finance my vehicle so if anything happens to my car, I wanna make sure that I’m protected. I was looking at Nissan and everything that they were offering but their prices were a little too high. Then, Protect My Car basically covered the same things so I decided to go that route.
Every time I call them, it's easy to navigate, get someone on the line and get help if I need it. Then when I was actually getting the contract, the rep was very helpful. He let me know everything that would be covered. Then he sent over everything to my email so it was very easy. When I put in a request, I had a smooth process. With everything that was going on, there was a little delay as far as getting my parts but I was given an extra day to have my rental coverage. It was really understanding. All in all, I'm very satisfied.

My claim went well. I gave the man at the dealership the number, and he called the number, and ProtectMyCar approved the repair. And so he did the repair, and they charged me $100 deductible.

Protect My Car's customer service reps talked a good program, but I had some issues when I submitted a claim for the fuel pump that went bad on my car. They needed a part to repair it and when that part arrived, I didn’t have any problem with it. They also covered that part. But what I had to pay out-of-pocket was way more than what I should have and I thought my deduction would’ve been more than what it was. I ended up paying around $3,000 by the time they got to working on the vehicle and when I got it to another shop, they gave them the runaround. So I had to end up taking it to a General Motors dealership to get anything done.

Thank you for your comments. We do regret that the coverage was unable to assist with the replacement of the catalytic converter or the spark plugs and general tune up charges. The coverage is for mechanical break downs and does not cover wear and tear items or catalytic converters, which are regulated by each state. Those regulations prevent our covering those items. By the way, all of the covered components are listed in your coverage booklet, as well as those items that the coverage cannot cover. If you have any questions as to what is covered and what is not, please do not hesitate to call us. We will be happy to help.

I took my car to the shop and CarShield said they put a claim in, but they never did. The alternator went out and the electrical thing where you turn the heat on on the dash was blowing out. Protect My Car did my claim. They called me and said my claim was filed. They asked if I wanted the rental, but by the time I was ready to get the rental, my car was gonna be ready the next day so there was no sense to get it. I had my son-in-law take me up to the shop the next day when they got ready then I got my car. It’s been running good ever since. Protect My Car came up and sounded reasonable on the payments so I went ahead and got it 'cause I needed extended coverage. Then now, I don't know if I wanna continue to be with them or not because when it comes to me paying my money for stuff that needs to be done, I'm expecting it to be done without any problem. Also, I'm paying $100 deductible every time my car is being fixed on when I've been with companies where I pay one time and I don't pay anymore after that.
Recently, I had a claim and it went well. But I wasn't able to get some stuff done that needed to be done. Protect My Car called the company where my car was getting fixed. I was mad because the pieces that they were trying to clean again need to be replaced but instead they want me to try pay out-of-pocket and just have it cleaned. But it was just cleaned not even a whole year ago. It's a situation where something is going on with my engine and that was supposed to be replaced. I'm paying for the insurance and I expect that I can get that done without them telling me all what the car place had to tell them. I don't understand how I'm not able to get it fixed when it's been already been done before I even got with Protect My Car.

Thank you for your comments. Like most coverage plans, no matter which company issue it, problems that exist prior to getting the coverage are not covered. We regret that you had to go back and get the work redone after paying for it the first time. Since that was prior to your getting this coverage it could not help with that cost.
Nice part is that the coverage will save you a ton of money the next time you need a covered repair done right the first time. That is when you will be glad you had the foresight to protect yourself with this coverage.

They only paid for seven days of me being in a rental car. I needed a rental car the day I dropped my car off, and they said I had to wait until the company filed a claim. So, I didn’t like that process at all. All vehicles break down. Mine broke down right then. I needed a help right then. I had no other transportation. Protect My said that they would be able to cover my electrical sensors that had gone off in my car. I had asked them about that on the phone. The sensors kept going out in my car. I told Protect My Car that if I was gonna go with a warranty program, I was gonna go with the one that was gonna cover them. Their rep said they would be covered.
I went to the Acura dealership go get my car worked on. It was for the tires. Protect My Car covered some of the stuff. I got with the full end-to-end and made sure it was all top-notch. David was the guy that I was working with. He said that they'd try to get the sensors covered as well but they were not covered. He said that maybe I should call Protect My Car and tell them that I was told that they would cover the sensors. But with all the stuff going on, I just didn't have the energy to fight back and call back. I was just like, "Whatever."
I wish that Protect My Car would just cover the things that say they're gonna cover when someone's trying to make the decision of whether to go with company A, B, or C. That was the deal-breaker for me. I feel like because that wasn't true, I probably would have gone to a different company. It's kind of just making sure you know what can be covered. It's due diligence.

They responded on the phone properly and quickly got people out. I was instructed to drop the car off in the shop and I did that. I requested Mercedes Benz parts and they authorized it. They had to order the parts so the shop had the car for four days but the repair they charged was only three hours. Protect My Car said, due to the fact that it's a three-hour repair, they were not gonna cover car rental. But when I signed up, they said car rentals are covered. I was disappointed with them and I told them about it. The company should be more outspoken about that little hidden agenda of hours charged and if a car rental is gonna be approved or not. I had a roadside assistance issue. The first tow truck that I ever called for damaged the front of the vehicle and I was upset about that. The paint was knocked off of it because of the cable that had to be hooked up to it. I felt that Protect My Car should have gone to bat for me as opposed to me trying to file a claim directly with the towing service. Also, they didn't do any investigation and they concluded that they didn't wanna pay for it. They said that they didn't see a reason for it. I told them to play the tapes. It broke down on a gas station parking lot and nobody went to go look at anything that barely denoted that there was no damage to the vehicle prior to the pickup. That's one thing that kinda had me flabbergasted because if I'm to cover the damage, it's gonna cost me $500 in the beginning just off the brake if I had to go through an insurance company. But that's the only downside so far.
I'm on my way to the shop right now because the alternator went up in the vehicle and I'm told that it's covered so I'm gonna get the estimate. And I'm gonna see if they've already contacted Protect My Car with my claim information. With the exception of the towing service issue, it's been good so far. I gotta be glad that I have the coverage with all things going up, and those things are not cheap in a BMW.

Thank you for your comments. We regret that you had that experience. Due to the legal issues involved, we suggested that you file a claim with the tow companies liability carrier. They would do the investigation you suggested. Then you would not have to go out of pocket with a deductible.

One time, the mechanic called Protect My Car about my Arcadia. They told him what was covered and what wasn’t, and he fixed what was covered. He was super cool. Still, I got no calls from the claims department. My mechanic told me what the claims people said, not the claims people. We’re the customer and we’re the one paying to have this service. They’re just the person that is doing the service for them for protecting us, but I didn’t know what was going on. There was no real communication to the customer when the claims piece was being done because they have all the communication with the mechanic. I don’t think it's appropriate, but it works.

A friend made me decide to acquire this service contract. I have been with Protect My Car for two years or more. I had an electrical failure issue and they did some work and they did not do some. The battery was the main thing that they covered. There was something else that they discovered, like a transmission leak, but they did not cover that. There were a couple lights on the car, too, that they did not cover under the warranty. So, I was quite disappointed because it should not cost a nice little penny.
When I went to renew or renegotiate the contract, it had got out of compliance for a month or two, and there was a page to communicate. The first contract bid on the Malibu was at a lower rate, and it was not clarified. So, the lady clarified, and she gave me some numbers. The numbers were excellent. So, I bought into the second one, which would require a deductible of $100 out of my pocket, and that was sufficient for me. But, with the other one, I did not know that they have the cost because it was not explained to me that the other policy that I've gotten for the Malibu was at the lower rate. So, she enabled me to understand that $100 would be all I would have to pay out of my pocket.

Thank you for your comments. We are glad to have saved you so much money on your repairs. This coverage is to help pay the cost of mechanical breakdowns. It does not cover wear and tear items like batteries, light bulbs and tires. That's why you still have to pay for those items. That keeps the premium reasonable for our customers. You can usually tell when it is time to replace wear and tear items and do proper maintenance. But breakdowns occur without warning. That's why this coverage can be so important.

I had one issue with Protect My Car. I went to an Acura dealership for an AC issue. The heater on the passenger side was blowing hot air when it was off. My kids were in the back and they kept asking if I could turn the heat off. I would tell them that the heat was not on. We didn't know why that was happening. But the dealership knew exactly what was wrong after I left the car there. My car was with them for at least a week. It took a couple of days to get the approval from Protect My Car then they had to order the parts and fix the problem. It was eventually done but it took a little bit of time. But it was fine. Since I bought the car from that Acura dealership, they gave me a loaner. If I took the car to a regular garage, it would've been an issue because I wouldn’t have had a loaner car.
Claim process-wise, I didn't deal with any paperwork so that was easy. Everything seemed fine but the timing could’ve been faster. If I went to a different place besides the Acura dealership, I would have to deal with a loaner car because they kept the car for so long. Otherwise, it was good that I didn't have to do any of the paperwork. I also just did the deductible.

I called Protect My Car and gave them my information. They gave me what I thought was a very fair rate but they gave me an even nicer rate when I gave them my credentials as a first responder. They covered the same thing as all the other extended warranty company so I decided to give them a shot. They said that if I had any issue, I should call them first so it opens the claim and then bring the vehicle to any registered repair shop.
So I called them about a claim and they said to go to the repair shop and the repair shop will call them. I went to the dealership, took my vehicle and put it in. It wound up that my vehicle needed a transmission and the heater box went. My vehicle is only a 2015 and it's fairly new. They told me that they don't cover the heater box. It was a little biased 'cause they cover the parts for the heater box that I needed but they didn't cover the heater box itself. It made no sense whatsoever. That was fight number one. But I didn't have time to deal with that and I moved on to bigger things.
Then I told them my transmission should be covered 'cause it's part of the drivetrain and the warranty was supposed to be bumper-to-bumper. They said it was covered but that I missed my last tranny tune-up by 1,500 miles. I went through and submitted about 60 pages of maintenance records showing that every single maintenance had been done on my car at the proper time that it was done. When I took out the policy, I went through everything. Then, I had to escalate the claim to the manager who said, “No, absolutely not. There's always a room in there. If it was by 60,000, but my last tune-up was 61,500 miles ago, there is room for error in that. By like 3,000, 4,000 miles, they allow you.” If I was over by 5,000 to 7,000 miles, then shame on me. But for 1,500 miles, that's a week for me.
It took a little bit of a while going back and forth with them but they finally approved the tranny. But it was three weeks that my car was sitting in the shop. Also, they originally didn't want to approve the rental for that time. But I escalated up to the ranks and they finally approved to extend my rental because I didn't have a vehicle and it wasn't my fault. They did wind up doing the right thing but it took a lot of aggravation to get them to do it.

Thank you for your comments. Although the heater box was not covered due to the external damage we were able to order the part for you at a significant savings. The entire repair, together with the rental car reimbursement, saved you over $2,700.00. Since your premiums were only a little over $260.00 that represents quite a savings, on just your first repair. we are glad the coverage worked so well for you. Thank you for choosing Protect My Car.

I've been with Protect My Car for two years now and with them, I don't have to do anything. I just let my mechanic of my situation. With my motor mount issue, my mechanic called me and I told him about my warranty. He told me to give him the number of Protect my Car and he would call them to verify my coverage. Ten minutes later he called me back to tell me that I'm good to go. Later that day, he called me and told me to be ready to pick my vehicle up.
When I first put the warranty on my wife's truck, I knew we had to wait 30 days. However, two weeks after we purchased the warranty, her water pump went out and that cost me 2,500 bucks. I regret not getting this warranty sooner. My in-laws just bought a new SUV and I've been telling them get the warranty from Protect My Car.

I needed to get something for my car and I gave Protect My Car a call. The rep gave me a good deal on it and I took it. I wanted the cheapest one and that’s what she hooked me up with. Then, I had to put the car in the shop. It went out on me and I called them. They asked me questions and if I needed a tow truck, to which I said yes. The rep wanted to know where I wanted to take it and I said to the Mercedes dealer. She explained to me about if it wasn’t listed up under the coverage that I had, I would have to pay for that part of the service.
They sent a tow truck over and took it to the Mercedes place. I gave the dealer her phone number so they could call her to let them know whatever was wrong with it. They checked it out and called Protect My Car after and they took care of it. But I had to pay a good amount and I’m thinking about calling Protect My Car because I wanna up my policy. If I had a larger one, I could’ve probably got the other service I had to pay for covered. Other than that, Protect My Car was on it better than my car insurance people. I’m satisfied with it and I recommend them.

Those are great comments, we really appreciate them. We are very glad the claims process went smoothly. Thank you for sharing your comments and for the rating.

Protect My Car is easy to deal with. When I had an electrical issue, I went to my dealership. I told them who I dealt with, and they dealt with Protect My Car and had no problems. I had just one little issue trying to get through them the first time. I might have had the wrong number to get through the claims department. And then, I went through the dealership, and I had no problems after that.

CarShield is too expensive and Protect My Car offered a better discount. They were having a special promotion and it was super easy to sign up. As a company, they try to make sure that people aren't scamming them or trying to dismantle their car and then say that it was an accident. However, sending the inspector out for certain things put on pause for days at a time when somebody needs their car--that could be improved. Also you have to pay for the rental car upfront before the claim gets approved. If the damage was something that wasn't under the warranty, then the customer would have to be liable for that money dropped for the rental car. And then they'll just pay it back in later bills. Protect My Card could have a better process for the rental car and that would definitely make the claims process better. Overall it's a pretty good investment if you got a car that has over 75,000 miles.

The reason we sometimes require inspections is to make sure the written estimate is accurate and complete. We have been helping customers for over a decade and we know from experience that vehicle repairs can be misdiagnosed. In order to get a proper diagnosis of the problems we hire, at our expense, a specialist to take a look at the automobile and give us an independent diagnosis. As we are sure you will agree, fixing only a part of the problem, or the wrong problem, could cost you a lot of lost time and trouble. It's well worth spending the time to make sure the repair was done right the first time.

When I was trying to call my credit card to make a payment, I dialed one number off and got Protect My Car. They offered engine, transmission, electrical, air conditioning and heating systems repair, but it was the $100 deductible for the repairs that stood out to me. However, I think I misunderstood what they were saying. Every time I need to use them, I look on the little policy they sent me and I found out half their stuff was no good to me. They need to be more in-detail with what they cover under the warranty. In my eyes, electronics should be anything that’s electrical, not if it’s attached to something else.
I had an air compressor that controls the height of my truck. That’s an electrical item and they didn’t cover it. I had a bad airbag system, which is also an electrical item, and it was not covered. The electronic components inside my hub bearing as well as my window switches went bad and they didn't cover them either. The only thing they ever covered for me that I’ve got replaced through them was the motor mount. Other than that, everything else was not covered from what they say. They're only trying to cover the basics of the basics, like an alternator or some type of heating control unit.
When I was getting ready to get rid of them, I got into an argument with one of their representatives. I sat there telling him to cancel my policy and he argued with me, berating the other company I was gonna go with. He said that they're not gonna offer what they offered. My truck has 130,000 miles on it. In order for me to get the stuff that I needed to have covered, I needed to go to a plan where they pay 50%. The other company was offering me the same exact thing I have now, with a $100 deductible, and they covered way more, even after I spoke with the people and called them up. The agent and I went back and forth and it took me 30 minutes to get off the phone with Protect My Car. I don't like their customer service. I am not happy with them at all.

Thank you for your comments. Our coverage booklet does explain in detail what is covered and what is not covered. basically, this coverage is for mechanical break downs. It was discovered after the fact the leak was caused by something connected to the transmission which they said they would cover the repair. All this transmission business from an expert PMC called in to investigate. This all cost me nearly $5,000 more than the PMC policy and barely 6-month into the contract. The initial adjuster Adam ** was very helpful. The others to follow was confusing and misleading.

The first time I worked with Protect My Car's rep was a decent experience. He was nice. However, I thought my warranty with Protect My Car would cover more than it would. When their reps said that it would cover whatever happens to my engine, it made me think that's what it would cover. However, the specification was that the warranty only covered certain things. When it's time to file a claim, the company will find a small loophole that they can use in order to keep themselves from paying anything major.

Thank you for your comments. However, if our company was really trying to find "loopholes" we would not have been in business for over 15 years. As it is, we spend more than one million dollars each and every month paying for repairs to our customers vehicles.
On your repairs, the coverage paid $621 of the total $890 repair cost. Your share of that cost included the $100 deductible and the regular maintenance items the shop recommended that you have done. This coverage does cover costs of mechanical breakdowns, but does not cover the cost of regular maintenance of your vehicle.

I absolutely adore Protect My Car. I felt very comfortable with the rep and they were very helpful. At first, it was a little rocky with them doing my claim, but they followed through and took care of it. First, they denied my claim. I hadn’t had a lot of mileage on my car, so what they denied it for wasn’t applicable to me. They were trying to say that it was more wear and tear involved than it was by me, but they were able to sort that out.
My only thing is Protect My Car should have one person work on your claim. The continuity of one person working on your claim is very relevant when you’re going through something like that. Even though they take very good notes, each person reacts to it differently and they may not be as vested as someone else is. If they can’t have one person, then maybe just two. Less cooks in the kitchen make the meal tastes better.

Protect My Car covers a few things, but not much. Somehow, there was ammonia in my cooling system and my mechanic had to take the car apart there, which took a lot of work. There was also a gasket that had come loose and leaked that had to be replaced down there around the cooling system. He also took care of calling Protect My Car and got the check. However, I still had a balance of $600.
I took my vehicle over to the tire place and they said that Protect My Car will cover one of the spring joints on the back, but won’t cover the second one. I said that you kinda got have them both, otherwise, it throws the car off. Maybe Protect My Car could cover two of them at once, instead of just one. Also, I had a $100 deductible and on top of that, I gotta pay another $600. Plus, they make sure they take out the $100 every month. They covered about $400 and I paid all the rest.

Thank you for your comments. As you must know from reviewing the coverage booklet, your coverage pays most of the cost for mechanical breakdowns. It does not cover wear and tear items such as those you had done, including tires, alignment, coolant hoses and fluid changes.
As to the other repairs, we only fix components that have broken down. Since your spring joint was replaced on one side does not mean the other one needed to be replaced.

I initially had Protect My Car but I quit them and went with another one. And when I was talking again with Protect My Car, their rep told me what sites were fraudulent. And the one that I had chosen after canceling with them was more fraudulent, but cost less money, which was what made me jump over in the first place. At the time, I also read up on a few of other companies and there were scams. They say that you wouldn't pay so much percentage of what the cost would be, but you'd end up paying more than they said you should. That's fraudulent. They're taking your money from you every month and they're not providing adequate services. After I researched and since the offer of Protect My Car sounded good, I called them back and signed up.
When my alternator went out, I left my car at the shop and picked it up a couple days later. But there was a miscommunication between the man I was dealing with and myself because I’m on the road all the time. So, we kept it an extra day, then I picked it up and paid them off. Thank you for your comments. We appreciate them. We are glad the approval process went through so smoothly it came as a surprise to you. Truthfully, that does not always happen. Our adjusters are professionals who make sure the right repair is being done correctly the first time. Sometimes it takes more negotiation with the shop to make sure that happens. Unfortunately, if the shop can get you to come back for "additional work" in a few weeks, that is more money for them.
In your case, the shop you chose to take your vehicle to was top notch and just as professional as our guys. They worked together and got your repair done right away. That kind of success happens more often than not and is one reason most shops are very glad to work with the professional adjusters at Protect My Car.

Protect My Car offered me bumper-to-bumper protection, but that has changed. In the phone call, when I was talking to their rep, he sent me to a link that says bumper-to-bumper and then he showed me around their website. But it became a little less than that as I started using them. They paid for some of the repairs that I’ve had done but there was one that they didn’t and they said that it was a fuel line. In the fuel system, they don’t protect anything except for a few parts. And it was a lot of labor just to get to the fuel line, so they decided not to cover that. That’s when I learned that I didn’t have a bumper-to-bumper coverage. They should take bumper-to-bumper off of their website. That gives inflection that everything is covered and it turns out that not everything is covered.

Thank you for your comments. However, to be truthful, neither our website nor our agents mention the term "bumper to bumper". That term would be entirely misleading. We are very strict with our agents and will not tolerate any agent using that term. Our website includes sample copies of all our coverage plans so potential customers can see right up front exactly which components are covered and which are not.
The coverage pays the cost (less $100 deductible) of repair or replacement mechanical components listed in the coverage booklet. The coverage paid the cost of replacing the fuel pump and fuel control valve, since those are listed components in the coverage plan, as well as the cost replacing components that, although not listed for coverage, needed to be replaced in order for the repair to be complete.
We are glad to have saved you so much money on these repairs. Thank you again for your comments.

The price could be a little lower. $72 a month is a lot, especially if you’re not making repairs on your car. I probably put more out monthly than I will to get my car fixed. However, when I experienced a problem, submitting the claim was easier than I thought. I took my car to the shop and it was fixed. I paid my $100 copay and everything went nice and smooth.

Thank you for your comments. We completely understand. Most people feel they are "wasting" money making monthly premiums when all they have to do is save for the next breakdown. What they are doing is betting that they can save the hundreds or thousands of dollars they will need before each and every repair happens. Even if they can is that the best use of their money? Look at it this way, your vehicle protection plan IS the savings account you would use to pay for expensive covered repairs. You don't even have to pay more than your small monthly premium to have all the money you need in your account when that next big break down occurs.
To prove that, look at the amount you have spent in premiums compared to what just this one repair cost. You have already saved more than the plan has cost you. That's how you know you chose the right protection plan.
Thank you for your comments and thank you for choosing Protect My Car.

After speaking with the representative that I spoke with, I bought a service contract from Protect My Car. When I took my car in to get fixed, I had no problems. I took my car into the place that was fixing it and I let them know that I have Protect My Car. I called Protect My Car to let them know that I was there, and then they continued to deal with everything after that. I didn’t have to deal with any of it. I was without my car for a few weeks but because they hadn’t had a diagnosis, I was unable to get a rental car, so that was the only downfall. I'm very satisfied overall. I see things online all the time where people comment that it doesn’t work, and I always correct them and say, “Hey, I’m with this company. It does work. I’ve had no issues.” So, I would tell other the same that I’ve told everybody else.

Thank you very much for those very encouraging comments. We appreciate your letting folks know your experience with Protect My Car. We hear similar things from other customers who wonder why some folks say such negative things about vehicle protection plans. As you indicated, it usually only takes one break down and the resulting expensive repair to make a believer of most doubters. Once you save $1000 or more in unexpected repair costs, you know how valuable these plans can be to protect you, your budget and your car.

I was trying to pay my cellphone bill and I called the wrong number. But by talking to one of Protect My Car's salespersons who was very good, I got lucky. I also needed some extra coverage on my car at the time. But when I had to use the policy, it really didn’t cover the exact thing that I needed. When I took the car in, the dealer called the company. Then I got a copy of my contract and they were able to see exactly what they covered and what they didn’t cover. Other than that, I have Protect My Car for about two years now and their service is good quality.

A year and a half ago, I had an issue with my trunk and I thought I had extended warranty purchased through the dealership. I found out I did not. It was a small repair but it kinda made me paranoid. And then I had forgotten about it. In December, I was online and there was a thing for a $3000 Amazon gift card, which clearly was a hoax. It said you had to sign up for all types of things for them to send you advertisements. The warranty thing came up and I thought that I wanted to look into extended warranty. I clicked that one and 10 minutes later, somebody called my phone. I'm not gonna say I loved my experience with the rep, but it was fate from God that made me purchase it when I did.
My car was running fine and I only had 3,000 miles. I almost wasn’t gonna purchase the warranty, but I wanted the lady to leave me alone and I ended up getting it. Getting approval was a very long process. And I didn’t think it would be that expensive. But then, I found out that was the standard procedure for it. The claim was initially denied and I was given a bogus reason for the denial, which concerned me. At one point, the person told me that my claim had been denied because I had used tires instead of brand-new tires and that they weren’t the same type of tires, which caused the imbalance.
One of my close friends was a mechanic and he said that the imbalance would have to be extreme, like having a tire for a Civic and a tire for an SUV. That kinda upset me and I thought that Protect My Car was really stretching to avoid the claim. I argued that down and said that I was with a mechanic and then, less than five minutes later, they approved the claim.
From the moment my car broke down and I contacted them, which was a Wednesday, I was in a rental car for about three weeks. My rental fee was over $500 and they only cover 210. I still had to cover $300, which was because it took them a week and a half to approve the claim. Once they approved the claim, I got my car back in a week and I was shocked. The cost was almost $4,000, but I just paid the deductible.
I’m so glad that I’ve always had records. I tell anybody that gets a warranty, "Make sure you have records of everything done to your car and make sure it’s all scheduled because I noticed that the first thing they ask is what your routine maintenance was.” I had to fax in all that documentation. Also, make sure you're going to a certifiable place. I got all the receipts from any place that I had gotten my car done.

Thank you for your faith in choosing Protect My Car. We will not let you down.

I love Protect My Car and I'm 100% satisfied. I was going on a trip and getting an auto warranty sounded a good idea after I talked to the lady that was telling me about it. A couple of providers called me but Protect My Car sounded like the better deal. I was bragging about it the whole time and telling my family about it. My sister is thinking about getting it, too.
We were down in Florida and we were coming back from SeaWorld. All of a sudden, my lights started flashing and all the gauges started going nuts. We pulled over the side of the road and it just went dead. I called the company and they told me that they would call a service truck that would get out to me. But it was almost two and a half hours later before they could get to me. Then the guy that came got my car back down into a ditch so he could turn it around and tow it. It's rear-wheel-drive in the way it was facing and it kept popping in and out of gear due to the electrical.
We sat there another hour and a half before he finally figured out how to get it out of the ditch and get it turned around. This car has got a gauge on it where you could pull it up and it locks it out of gear where it puts it neutral. So, he had to tow it the one way for about a mile until we got to a turnoff and then he switched the car around and towed it the right way to the house that we were staying at.
I called Protect My Car the next day and the rep asked me where I wanted to take it. 'Cause it was a newer car, I told her that I wanted to take it to the Chrysler dealership. She had me call the dealership and they said they could get it in but then I had to have it retowed there. I did that right away. There was a 20-minute wait but they were right there and got the car, took it to the dealership and they had a rental vehicle waiting for me. They had the car for four days and then they called me right away when it was done.

Thank you for your comments. We are very sorry the tow truck operator had such issues with the toe. That is something we will definitely look into and make necessary corrections. We are very glad the coverage got your vehicle's electrical system fixed and got you back on the road so your vacation wasn't totally ruined.
You are right, too. When that first big expensive repair happens, especially on a holiday or on vacation, and Protect My Car takes care of it for you, that is when you know you made a wise choice to protect yourself and your budget. That is what gives you good peace of mind.

I like the experience that I had with them and the terms and the condition. They work with people with high mileage on their cars and they're a good thing to have. Some providers want a little more and I thought Protect My Car was more affordable. I had fuel injection done and I was there to get my car back the same day. It was good. I brought the car in, they diagnosed it, then they came up with what was going on with it. They contacted Protect My Car and they negotiated on the price, on what I should pay and what they would not pay. The rep was good too. I had no problem with him working with the dealer and the dealer working with him. I was very satisfied. It’s great. To anybody that has a used car, a Mercedes, a BMW or any type of car like that, I would recommend having it because prices can be devastating without it.

Thank you for your comments. As you know, most older, high mileage cars simply do not qualify for any coverage with most companies. Obviously, those are the vehicles that are most likely to suffer a mechanical breakdown. Our coverage plans were created with just those vehicles in mind. The coverage provides a wide variety of benefits in addition to breakdown coverage, all for a very affordable monthly premium.
We are happy to have helped you with your repairs and look forward to doing so again when you need us.

When I first spoke to Protect My Car, I was very pleased because they were not like any other extended warranty car companies. They gave me a rate that was not able to be lowered, but gave me 2 years worth of free oil changes and PMC Rewards. I gave them a positive review at first, but then I wanted a new car and wanted to cancel my policy. A phone call that should have only been between five to ten minutes lasted over a half hour with a representative trying to prove her point. I was not a happy camper, especially since I did this phone call at work. After trying to prove her point, PMC has a no refund policy (Never stated in the initial set-up phone call) and a $50 dollar cancellation fee.
After all of this, I called and spoke to a manager that night to explain that on a personal and business level, that phone call was unprofessional. The manager did try to stick-up for his employee and tried to make amends with me by waiving the fee and sending over a request for a refund. So I did call back to check the status, the outcome would be I would owe them because of the oil changes. I have dealt with Carshield, they even give a prorated refund and no cancellation fees. PMC is a joke to me and if I want an extended warranty, I will take my investment elsewhere, where I will know I will get a prorated refund.
I have invested over $700 on a $1300 extended warranty policy, That $700, that they claim they would save you money over time for car repairs, is now down in the drain and they are the ones with the income. I would not have purchased the policy if I was wealthy. Shame on PMC, I am looking to get ahold of my attorney, the Better Business Bureau, and the news stations and expose of the money hoarding and laundering scheme they are playing with their customers.

I had Protect My Car before but I decided that my finances changed, so I couldn’t keep it up and I had to drop it. Then, I got another car and I chose to go with Protect My Car because I was with them once before. They quoted me the right price if something was to happen, the $100 deductible and some of the things that they would fix.
I was told that I had a free oil change coming and I went up to the Dodge dealership to get it but they told me that wasn’t covered in the thing. We had a big old spat about that, but they finally decided to go on and give me a one-time-only deal, as they called it, to get my free oil change. It made me wonder about the rest of the stuff I have coming to me. I’m pretty sure judging by the sounds of my car, I got something major coming up that I'm gonna have something done to the car and I’m really concerned about that. It is supposed to be covered under my warranty thing. But if they denied me on a free oil change, I’m wondering what they’re gonna do when I get ready to have this other thing repaired on my car.
Also, the communication needs to improve. There's a big communication gap somewhere with the people who are selling the contract to the client and the people who actually has to pay for it when the time comes. If there's an incident and the person went to this insurance or the insurance company that the person that caused the accident had a policy with and it’s just, “Oh, we don’t know nothing about that. We just sell the policy.” Then, they would have to call somebody else to find out how to get something done.

Thank you for choosing Protect My Car.

The first time I dealt with Protect My Car, they didn't give my information like the paperwork to me very quickly, so I didn't have a contract sent to me until a little later. I was already a month into the program, and I didn't have a contract. When they sent me the paperwork at that point and I finally got it, my car had to go in the shop. They were trying to explain some of it then, but at that time, I was in the midst of trying to get my car fixed. When they finally did explain a little bit to me, I wasn’t understanding why there was a difference between the second and the first time I had my car fixed. The second time, they paid half. The first time, they paid less than half. So, I was kinda looking at that and I had some questions then.
Finally, somebody had acted on the first time I had my car put in the shop, and I guess they made a mistake. They didn't have the right information. Then they called me back and they said, “This is the correct information.” There was a little confusion in the beginning. Maybe it was some miscommunication. Now, I’m trying to send this receipt that I have from when I did have a rental car the second time. They gave me information on where to send it, but the last time, when I sent something in, it wasn’t the right place, so I had to resend it. I don’t wanna have to go through that again. I may have to call them.
At first, I wasn’t going to pick Protect My Car. I was looking at this other place called Route 66. And at the time, I was trying to make a decision between what better they covered as far as the car itself, the engine, or powertrain. I was trying to make a comparison on that. At the time, the rate on Protect My Car was a little bit better than the rate that I was looking at another company. But sometimes I feel like everything that I need to have covered on the car may not be covered.
One of the things that I thought was in my contract that was covered were brakes. If your whole rotor system went out, I thought they covered that, and they didn't. I don’t feel like my expectations on the coverage have quite been met. They helped some on the payment that I had to make on my automobile, but I still had to come out of pocket for quite a bit of money on the car to have it fixed.

I was googling and going through reviews and saw that there were several providers out there. Then I put on my Facebook page and asked if anybody used additional car insurance. A lot of people said that they had used or knew people that had used Protect My Car. I ended up getting it. For my transmission claim, it went a little rough at first but once I got on it, it went pretty quick. The adjuster was telling me that he had already talked to the place and that he was gonna be down there and tell them that he would be down there the next day. Then he did, and then we didn't hear from him and then he was gonna be there again.
My husband used to be a mechanic so we've done our own oil changes. But for the transmission, we would have to have it checked at the place to see if it needed fluid. For my motor, you have to have a special dipstick where you have to put it up on a rack to check it. Every time that my husband would change the oil, he would take it down to that little place that has that special dipstick. The guy would just come outside and check it. If the transmission fluid was fine, we went on. But they didn't have the paperwork for me to send Protect My Car because they didn't charge because they didn't have to put any fluid in it. It showed that we were there but it didn't show what we were there for so it got me aggravated.
They said I didn't have anything to show I changed my oil. I told them it's a transmission and all I got was receipts from Walmart. At first, I thought they weren't going to do anything. Luckily, they found in a computer where I was buying it. They took it through a transmission place and they had the transmission and the transmission fluid checked. That's what saved me. But I told them that they need to explain that to people. Now I know that if I take it anywhere, even if there was not a paper trail, I would write out something, no charge and that I was here. He also said we can continue to change the oil but we need to make sure that we keep the receipt of him showing them the month when we actually got the stuff and changed it.
I started dealing mostly with a rep who was supposed to get the claims adjuster and the paper and get all that rolling. But I felt like he kept putting it off and prolonging. He would tell me he filed the claim and he's waiting on it. And then he was telling the transmission place that had my vehicle something totally different. When I actually got ahold of Protect My Car, they told me that the form had not been filed yet. I was aggravated with him 'cause he was lying to both of us. He hadn't really done what he'd done and it took forever. But once they actually got a claims adjuster, it was good.
When I got ahold of somebody else and started dealing with them, they got somebody down there. We just had to wait on the transmission and they said it'd be five to seven business days, which it came in four days. The guy had it done for me the day after he got it. It was just miscommunication on my part. He thought that by explaining to me I needed to make sure I upkeep my vehicle, that I knew I needed to show proof. I even called back and asked them more questions 'cause I didn't take it right away. He was great as far as all that and explaining what I didn't understand.

Final payment was February 2020. Bought it at 68,000 miles and in those 4 years, never had an issue with my truck. Well, 2 weeks after final payment the front end started feeling loose, making clunking and squeaking noises. On March 13th I took it in to get inspected and lo and behold the front end was messed up. The repair shop I went to, Protect My Car has an account with them.
To be honest, in the past I read reviews from people who had nothing good to say about Protect My Car. I figured taking my truck to get repaired was a waste of my time. After the manager called them to discuss the repairs and what would be covered, they wanted permission to start work on my truck. I was surprised and thrilled at the same time. If I could give Protect My Car 10 stars I would. I guess I can't believe all the negativity towards them. Those people must have had other issues with the company and not following their repair guidelines. Thank You Protect My Car. I'm so happy to have my truck back in 100% condition thanks to you guys.

Thank you for a wonderful review. We really appreciate it. We are honestly happy to have been able to help you out with the recent repair and look forward to helping you again when you need the help. Thank you for being a long term customer and for your loyalty.

I purchased the ELITE Warranty, called them yesterday and told them I was having a heat issue (during the winter in NY) and that the heat was not blowing hot enough. They told me “Heat Issues” were covered and that I should bring it into the shop for repairs. I did just that this morning. Brought it in and sat there for 3 hours only for them to deny my claim of $1400.00! I am beyond mad and cancelled the plan of course, what good is monthly payments if the one time I need it and they don’t cover the repair! NO FEAR THOUGH. 1800WARRANTY COVERS HEATER ISSUES! I want to give no stars but it will not allow me to bypass that section.

To get my car to last as long as possible, I decided to get an extended warranty. When I saw Protect My Car on Facebook, I decided to try it out. They’re good at what they say. When my transmission went out, I didn’t have any problems with them getting my car fixed. I could understand what their customer service is saying. However, it took me about a week to find a licensed service mechanic. They didn’t have one here in my hometown. I had to go out of town in order to find a licensed transmission mechanic. I had to go to Cleveland and I live here in Clarksdale, Mississippi. But after I found the mechanic and all that, they went right on their work. And the repair took about two weeks, which wasn't long.

The Protect My Car rep gave me a lot of information at one time, but I was able to absorb as much as I guess I needed to. I decided to use them for their pricing and the way they would allow me to pay for it. My previous provider's service was good, but the pricing was just beyond my budget. Filing a claim with Protect My Car worked very well for me. They saved me some money and I was glad I had the warranty because it was a very expensive job on my 2013 Volkswagen Passat. If you're gonna get an extended warranty, look into Protect My Car as one of your primary sources.

Protect My Car called and offered me a warranty in my car. At the time, I was looking for that because I had my car for three years. Also, I had one but it was kind of local and was in Louisiana. I used that one when I was posted in Louisiana and when I was moving back to Utah, I asked them if they were gonna cover me in Utah, they said no and that the only cover local. So, I had to cancel it.
So far, my experience with Protect My Car hasn't been good. First of all, they said they were gonna send me a copy of my policy but they never did. I received their card yesterday and I have them for a few years. Then on top of it, I had a claim with them to have something fixed in my car. They put me into a rental and they negotiated the rental so bad that now, I have to pay the rental $250. They never told me how long I'd have the rental for and they never contacted the rental company to tell them how long I was supposed to have the car. They never called me to tell me anything. The only time they called me was on the day that I was going to take the rental, to tell me that it was with Enterprise, that they were going to give me three days, and after that, they were gonna add more days.
So, when I had the car after three days and I never heard from Protect My Car, I went to Enterprise and I asked if Protect My Car ever contacted them. Enterprise said they never contacted them and the account was still open, so they told me that I was good to keep the car. Since my car was still in the shop because it was a holiday and they didn’t work on holidays, I kept the car. After a couple of days, I went back to Enterprise and asked them for the status of the car. They told me the very same thing again. And they said that they were gonna contact Protect My car that day. But as for the car, the account was still open, so, that meant I was good.
So, Enterprise contacted them twice but they didn’t get an answer. Protect My Car also never called Enterprise back. When they finally contacted Enterprise, they sent an email to Enterprise saying that I should’ve returned the car after four days. So, when Enterprise told them how long I had the car with me, they told Enterprise that the remaining days were on me, not on them. And because Enterprise couldn't get their money from them, Enterprise turned to me to get their money. Now, I owe Enterprise $250.
When I finally talked to Protect My Car, one of the manager told me that the only thing they could do for me was reimburse me $200. So, that meant I'd have to pay Enterprise $250, and after that, they told me that I have to file a claim. That was going to take a month to review, then after a month, they were gonna see if they could reimburse me $200. Basically, it’s not guaranteed that I’m going to have $200 refund to me from them.
I had another claim and I was afraid to do it because when I called them for the claim, they told me they had to send an inspector. My car was in the garage for four days before they sent an inspector. So, during that four days, I had to do Uber, leave to commute to work, take my daughter to school and to go get her. After they finally sent an inspector and the inspector did his inspection, it took them another couple of days before they gave the mechanics a go to start working on the car. But they didn't say anything about the six days that I paid Uber and left. Finally, they put me into a car but then after that, they left a bill for me to pay.

I spoke with my wife and a couple of friends and decided this was not what I needed and I reluctantly called to cancel, expecting to get the old high pressure. Amazingly it was a great process, they explained everything, gave a confirmation # for my cancellation. I was pleasantly surprised. One of my friends had Protect My Car and liked them, which was why I went with them. However, my claim's process was rough at first. I thought more was offered for my vehicle but then it wasn’t. But they took care of it and comped some of the charges, so I was happy about that. What is covered and what is not covered should be laid out a little bit more like A, B, C, 1, 2, 3 type because some of us may not be aware of all the big technical terms.
Their customer service is good, but the wait time is horrible. When you take your car to the shop, the shop workers get upset because they have to be on hold for so long waiting for someone to answer. One shop I took my car to told me not to come back with Protect My Car because they don’t have time to wait on hold to reach someone. Protect My Car should have a different number for car dealerships to get a customer service, which would make it much better for the consumer. Other than that, I find having an extended warranty very valuable and even referred my sister to them.

Thank you for choosing Protect My Car. We are happy to have you as a valued customer.

My husband brought the car for a usual oil change and check-up on the fluid with Brakes Plus, which is not covered by Protect My Car. We have a good record from Brakes Plus. They inspect it every time my husband brought it there in the last eight years or so. They inspect everything. Whenever there is something that they find that needs to be repaired, they will give us an estimate. Most of the time, we go to their place. But ever since we bought the warranty, we decided to try the new shop in town. Christian Brothers opened last summer and it is only about three miles away from where we live. So it’s more convenient. Rather than Brakes Plus, which is about seven miles away, and I have to go through the traffic on a trafficky road.
I brought the car to the Christian Brothers shop. The temperature gauge is always below half. It never goes up higher than half. When I dropped it off, the guy said to leave it there because it was almost closing. So I left the car in there and the keys with them. They called us the next day asking how long have I had this car being overheated. I told them none of my knowledge and that it has never had any overheating problem. Even Brakes Plus never had that experience, and they checked it yesterday morning that it was not. And then Christian Brothers said they changed the radiator. Protect My Car covered it.
The car was in the shop for two days for the radiator change. When I picked up the car and drove less than a mile away from the shop, it overheated right away. They messed up our car, and then we were not very happy with what Protect My Car was telling us. They listened to the inspector they assigned to inspect the car that was still in the shop. They said it was negligence on our part. We didn’t have any negligence on our part. The radiator was empty when I got home. It was only about two or three miles away from the shop. So why is the radiator was empty? We noticed there was a lot of leak on the tracks on the driveway and inside our garage. So why is it leaking? I thought they changed radiator. When we brought the car to a private shop, he found out that the radiator was defective.

Thank you for your comments. Protect My Car does not require you to go to any licensed repair shop other than the one you choose to go to. If that shop, like the Brakes Plus shop you mentioned, refuses to allow you to use the coverage you paid for, Protect My Car will reimburse you for the cost of the oil change.
It is unfortunate that any shop would deny their customers the right to use the coverage they paid their hard earned money for. We pay those shops right over the phone with a corporate credit card, so whether they get paid by their customer or by our company should make no difference to them. Some shops, however, know they can talk their customers into doing any repair, whether it is needed or not. They do not want a professional adjuster looking over their shoulder when they recommend repairs that are just not necessary or are overpriced.
We regret that you feel our company earns only 1 star because the shop you choose to use refuses to accept this coverage and wants to deny you the right to save money at their shop with this coverage. We do thank you for choosing Protect My Car and urge you to talk to us before you pay out of pocket for services or repairs that are covered by your coverage plan.

Whenever I buy a used vehicle, I always get a protection plan, usually from a dealership, but this time, I bought from an individual. So, I looked for an aftermarket protection plan. I went with Protect My Car due to the amount of coverage as far as the components that were covered, the length of time of the coverage and the price. There are some that also cover maintenance, like oil changes and they don’t. But that’s not typical. So, I felt like it was good coverage.
It’s been very easy to work with them. They were professional and nice to talk to. And when I’ve had claims, the claims have been taken care of. If they lowered their prices a little bit though, that would make it better. To someone considering going through Protect My Car, make sure you're comparing apples to apples. But Protect My Car didn't cover any of it. I'm definitely dissatisfied with them. I've been with them since July last year. I paid them a lot of money and it seems like they cover things that are only bound to happen to my car once it had 200,000 miles on it. If I get standard maintenance that happens on a routine basis, they don't cover. So, I am fed up with it. I tried to cancel my policy twice before I ever even intended to use it, but they kept lowering the price for me, so I kept it. And it has $100 deductible. When I realized that half the stuff that they cover doesn't ever happen or is very unlikely to happen for another five years, it seemed pointless.

It was sorta frustrating. I also thought the package I signed up for covered everything. However, they didn’t cover a part concerning the sensor and I was upset because of that. I called to cancel and they told me they were gonna charge me a $50 canceling fee. Because they didn’t want me to cancel, they lowered the price for me which made me realize that I should’ve been paying lower all along. They also added on free oil changes. But then I ended up buying another car, so I had to cancel altogether. They wanted me to refer the same thing to another family member. I told them no, they don’t need it and that nobody else in the house is interested.

Thank you for your comments. we are happy to answer your questions. Any coverage plan, no matter who issues it, will cover only those components listed in the coverage. No coverage plan covers all components. What make Protect My Car different is that when a non-covered component breaks down, we still try to assist our customers. in your case, we reduced the cost of the plan to help you with the cost of the non-covered repair. That in no way mans that you were overcharged for the coverage and we regret that you feel that was the case. I've had Protect My Car coverage for my 2010 Equinox since February last year. My experience with Protect My Car has been good, but when I had a drive axel issue, they said, “If we’re gonna work on the drive axel, we’re gonna take off your tires, take off the wheels to take the drive axel.” When putting it back, they needed to do an alignment to make sure the tire is straight with the wheels, which is normal.” Everybody understands that when you go get a new tire for your car, definitely, they’re gonna make an alignment. But they told me that they were not gonna pay for alignment. It was frustrating. So, they just paid for the drive axel and they didn’t pay for the alignment, which I was charged for 200 bucks because I took it to a Chevrolet dealership.
I’m paying $90 every month to cover my car and drive axel is covered. If not for the drive axel, they won’t touch my alignment. When you’re gonna do something, you take care of everything. That makes it professional. You ain’t gonna tell me, “We’re gonna fix this, we won’t fix that.” They should cover alignment too. But I ended up paying for it. I’ve been paying Protect My Car from February up to a year, and I’ve not even called them. My car has been running good. I don’t wanna bother them if it’s just minor. And it was the only one thing and they were saying no. So, that turned me off.

She convinced me to stick it out for a little while longer because she had experienced the same thing years ago with her car. When she canceled her protection, something happened with her car, which cost a couple of thousand dollars but was covered under the warranty. She said that I didn't want that to happen. Then she got me a free oil change through Jiffy Lube. She also gave me a credit towards my next bill.
Normally when I call in to cancel something, I'm done unless you can really make it worth my while. An oil change wasn't, but she said that she went over all the different problems I had with the car and it didn't sound my problems are gonna end. I have a new car for a work vehicle that I'm ready to get Protect My Car for. It's an older car with higher mileage and has a 50% deductible. But it comes with the free oil changes. I wanted to have some insurance that would be available if I would ever need it, and that whatever need we have will be addressed concerning my vehicle. Protect My Car seemed to be more feasible, and the specialist we dealt with was cordial and knowledgeable. I, however, did not realize that there were several things that were not covered, particularly the suspension, but that does not really intrigue me too much. They went over it with me, but it was not in as far depth as I thought it was. I have already filed a claim and their claims department mirrors the same as any other claims department. If I brought my vehicle in, it took anywhere from three to five days to get it done, and the process to be notified of it, going through the claims process, was maybe two days. A car loaner reservation was also made through claims, and I went to pick it up at my local car rental, mostly of my choice and within the area.
My experience has been modest. I have not gotten any reimbursement for any rentals that I have had, even when many of the agents explained it as thought they should be refunded. When I get a rental car, I am still responsible for putting down deposits that are non-refundable. It is explained that the rental is available for however the repair is supposed to be. But typically, the repair is to be recognizably completed within a five-day period. And then if it should be within the seven days, then they are going to extend me two additional days, but no one is extending anybody anything. The customer has already paid for the seven days in the premium. That really needs to change because that’s a falsification. And that’s not good for anybody, either the customer or even the vendor and the company themselves. The explanation is not only not honest, it is also not the best professional choice.

As always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to let us know. Thank you again for your very encouraging comments.

Deciding to purchase a service contract is not a matter of running out of warranty but a matter of when your car is gonna need repairs and when it breaks down. Once I looked at what Protect My Car does and what they cover, it made common sense. You just make a small monthly payment and then if something goes wrong, they take care 95% of the problem versus trying to wait it out and you're stuck because you can’t come up with $2,000 all at once to get something taken care of.
I’ve talked to three other providers and they were telling me 150 a month. Protect My Car seemed like they’re a little lower. I realized that Protect My Car covers the same amount of stuff they cover or sometimes more, and they charge me less per month. A couple of other places that I talked to didn’t cover as much as Protect My Car and somebody called me last week and I was explaining to them that I’m already with Protect My Car and that I don’t need an extra coverage. I said that I went over my whole paperwork and Protect My Car covers everything that he was saying they don’t. I told him that he did wrong research and he eventually got mad and hung up on me, but that was fine.
I liked Protect My Car because that was 70% part of making my decision. Their people answered the questions that I asked promptly and with no hesitation. When I was purchasing the warranty, the customer service answered all the questions that I had at that point in time. He answered it good enough for me to get the warranty. I only had one claim, which was for a valve cover gasket replacement, and everything went pretty well. I also had no issues with the place that fixed our car. As long as Protect My Car keeps up their end of the deal, as long as we keep up the regular maintenance, everything is all good.

I liked the deal that Protect My Car offered me. Their reps were great working with me. Most recently, I submitted a claim for my new engine and there was some confusion in the beginning from the dealership that I took my car to. The service guy whom I was working with ended up getting fired. Despite the issue, their reps were great working things out and ended up getting me situated. They have a certain amount of time that a claim stays open and that had passed. The claim had closed and the reps worked with me because they understood what was going on. We opened the claim and I got everything taken care of. Within less than 30 days, I was able to get my car back. Protect My Car was great. If I get another used vehicle, they’d be on the top of my list. I would recommend them to other people. Their customer service was excellent.

They are a little cheaper than the other companies that I have tried, so far. Also, they have a little bit more benefit. They offered me two oil changes for the year, so that was one other reason that caught my attention to have them as the company. I had other warranties in the past who were way more expensive. I think Protect My Car is okay at the moment. But I need to check on some of what they offer ‘cause I had thought there was an offer to do tires and tire rotation. I am probably gonna look into that and take advantage of that.

It’s been going pretty good with Protect My Car which I've had for a little over year. I just gotta get my payment in. I’ve been running a little behind on that one. I made one claim and that was for the speed sensors on my wheels, my traction control lights that was out, the ABS light. The claim went pretty smoothly. I just didn't like the rental car setup ‘cause I thought when I got it, there was supposed to be a free rental car, but they were talking about me going to pay for a rental and they would reimburse me. I wasn’t about to go through all that and have to wait to get my money back, so I just got no rental. I didn't have my car for two weeks ‘cause they couldn't find a part they were looking for. And that was another thing. I didn’t wanna take my car back to Pep Boys. I wanna just take it to the dealership. I had to pay just my deductible.

Thank you for your comments. W regret that you wee dissatisfied with the coverage on your last transmission repair. Unfortunately, the coverage is for mechanical breakdowns. It was two years ago when I first started off with my Volkswagen Jetta, and I like the services that Protect My Car provided. I have a great contract. It’s not bad at all. Their representative took care of my information and everything was great. I just did a claim for my alignment and my right control arm. The experience was great. It took them like a week for the parts and everything to get to Pep Boys. It took a little long for Pep Boys to receive the parts, going through Protect My Car, and Protect My Car ordering it and making sure the process would go through. But of course, Protect My Car has to always approve. So, that’s time that you had to wait anyway. So, it wasn’t that bad.
The claims process was great. But they said that it would’ve took two and a half hours for them to do the work, and it actually took them a little bit longer to do the work. It took them about an extra hour to do the work. If it’s over three hours’ worth of work, Protect My Car would give you a rental. But other than that, they don’t give you a rental. So, I had to drive my car for the actual week that the process was going through, when the equipment was getting ordered to Pep Boys.

I’m making payments on this car, and I wanted to make sure that everything stays in tip-top shape, and the only way I could have done that was to sign up with Protect My Car. I had seen a commercial. I had a choice between them and another one. I called Protect My Car first, and I got their quote, and I called the other company, and Protect My Car was a little bit cheaper. The rep was convincing and he was the one that made it happen. He stayed on it. I must have talked to him for three days until everything got done. He called me and I called him. It was a good experience on that end.
I was very satisfied with Protect My Car. I’m glad it’s there when I do need to use it. I had a recall on my car. I think it was a torque converter, and it was my AC unit. So, I had almost $3000 worth of repair done on my car because of the recall. I had five days to go before it was gonna expire. So, I just got this work done. If it had expired, then I would have had to come use my Protect My Car, but I’m thankful that I didn’t.

They seemed to have more coverage and a benefits package for the price. I also had a very nice interaction with the rep when I was purchasing the warranty. But I am not even a 1% satisfied with the package that I got. I had a dead battery, and I called Protect My Car and I told them I wasn't sure what it was, but I was in a gated community and my car wouldn't start. They were very rude and told me that if they came out and it did not jump off, it voided me to having it towed to the closest service place. I asked them why can't they tow it if it didn't start? They said that was not how it works, and that they did one thing at a time. I have to wait three days and call back to get it towed from that location. So, at that point, I just got jumper cables. But I needed to find somebody with a vehicle that can do it for me. So it was just a hassle.
I paid them every month on time for over a year, and I never had to call them. I didn't have any more problems with the car until somewhere in August or September. I've had the car two to two and a half years. I bought it with 53,000, and I have 67,000 now. I don't do a lot of driving. But it got to where it was hesitating to crank. So I called Protect My Car and asked them what I needed to do, and they told me to take it to the dealership. They told me that that's where their warranty would be valid at. It wound up being an issue with the ignition relay switch, which has to do with the computer board. But they refused to pay for it. They said it wasn't covered.
I told them that when I took out the policy, they told me everything that was covered. My pamphlet says that anything that has to do with electrical, computer, transmission, everything that breaks, tires, windshield washer, and the logistics are covered. Protect My Car has great sales pitch, but they have poor customer service, and they don't stand behind their paperwork. If I could've taken them to court, I would've. I got the warranty the same month I bought the vehicle and I dropped it about three months ago.

Protect My Car seemed nice enough. All you had to do was say no and they'd give a lower price until they got you to sign something. The issue that's most concerning is the fact that there are many parts that they do not cover as they consider it maintenance. But with the engine, it requires taking apart the whole engine, which would be almost the same price as a whole new engine. Essentially, they're not covering things that go bad through use. They are covering the things that won't go bad unless those other parts go bad.
We had some issues with our engine and they ended up covering it partially, but they told us that we had to have our service records and receipts and that we could do it ourselves. And we were paying for the $100 deductible. They ended up telling us that we didn't have good enough records, even though they did not have a clear form or anything else that we were supposed to fill out. They ended up covering half instead of only the $100 deductible. Overall, their 50% plan is pretty reasonable for cars over 10 years old. We had that for our van.

Thank you for your comments. We do hear that quite a bit and it is worth talking about. Maintenance items, like fluid replacement, tire replacement and similar items are things you can plan for and budget for in advance. unexpected breakdowns occur DESPITE taking good care of your vehicle and they never happen with any warning. That makes it tough to plan for financially. That is what this coverage is all about. If we covered all of the regular maintenance and wear and tear items, the cost of the coverage would not be affordable for most folks.
Please don't worry about the engine breakdown. That is covered as part of the repair. You are right. It can be very expensive and can really hurt a tight budget. Again, that is why this coverage is so helpful to folks.
Thank you for choosing Protect My Car and for your comments.

I have already filed a claim with them, and the only thing I did not like is that they do not pay for a rental -- all they offer is reimbursement if I get one.

Thank you for your comments and suggestions. To answer your question, many folks do not need, or want, to rent a vehicle while their vehicle is in the shop. They do not want to pay premiums for a benefit they will not use. So, we reimburse rental car fees for those who choose to rent a car. Plus, those who do choose to rent a car while their vehicle is being repaired, can choose the rental car company and the vehicle they want to rent. That seems to be what most of our customers want. We do thank you, though, for your suggestions and thoughts.

The coverage is at my wife's BMW and when I bought the coverage, I specifically asked the question because BMWs can sometimes require additional stuff to get. For instance, you wanna change your fuse, you gotta take the front dashboard off to change it. I asked these questions and was assured that that kind of stuff would cover the extra labor. But when I've had to take it in, they weren't. The first time, it turned out there was a gasket leak and something else had to be replaced. I knew they weren't gonna cover the gasket but they weren't gonna cover any of it. The gentleman ended up actually covering some of it when I asked them to pull the tapes and listen to when I actually purchased it.
The second time I took it in, the thermostat had to be replaced. Luckily, BMW covered the thermostat. The last time I took it in there, they didn't cover the claim. I was trying to figure out, "Okay, well, what do you cover?" I'm not too happy with them. There's just no security with the Protect My Car warranty people so it’s not worth it. I happened to go on Protect My Car's site and got a quote. The quote was acceptable for me, so I went with them. The person that set up my policy was Nathan. He was very informative about how the policy works. I had an issue, though, with the coverage when it came time to pay on a coverage. It seems like I was jumping through hoops to get that done. They weren't working well with the auto shop where my truck was. There was finagling and telling the people that's fixing my car that they gotta try a different part. "This part over here, we searched this part and this part is cheaper over here." It wasn't like these people got time to price compare. They go with the company that they buy parts from.
It ended up dragging on to the point where I just said, "Look, I'll pay the difference. I don't have time for this." It wasn't a great experience with that situation. So, that was a big disappointment where I canceled for a while on one vehicle. And then Nathan called me a couple of weeks later and we worked it out. You really gotta do your research. You gotta just shop around. One of the things I liked about the Protect My Car policy was that I was able to make monthly payments as opposed to just paying a flat-out coverage fee of $2,000. I've been with a company before where I did that, and I wasn't happy with the service, and I wasn't able to get my money back either because I already paid it. So, the fact that I'm able to pay monthly gives me some reassurance that if I'm not happy with the service I'm getting, I can just cancel.

I had my Jeep Liberty on 2015 and it did had a warranty on it. And it could’ve been the company or somebody that they pay, and they advertised me and called me and they stated to me that my car warranty for my Jeep Liberty was gonna expire. And at the moment, I was thinking that it was the company that I usually was paying for the past three years. And I just gave them my information, they put it in the system. So, I didn't think to cancel it because I’ve been paying it for three years, thinking that it’s the company that I had usually, originally had. And I had a major problem with the Jeep. It was fine. It did pass Pennsylvania inspection. It had no problem with the motor or nothing. Everything was good. On its first week, it made a weird noise in the transmission. And they gave me an opportunity to take it home. I parked it.
I called this company and explained to them, “Listen. There's a issue with the car. I don’t know what it is.” It made a noise, so they gave me an opportunity to take it back home. And when I put the claim in, then he explained to me that the policy that I had with my car, the company -- was two months. I said, “No, it can’t be. I’ve been paying this insurance for more than three years and they have called me, stated that it was gonna expire.”
To make the story short, it ended up being that when I went to the dealer that I bought the car, the owner of the dealership that sold it to me said, “Barbie, listen. They caught you off-guard. This is not the company you’ve been paying. And the company that you’ve been paying is this name.” It was a different company. And I was furious because I couldn't go back to my old company ‘cause the two months had elapsed.
I’ve been paying the new company thinking that it was the same company and I had to pay almost $3,000 out of pocket because they refused to fix the transmission, because they stated that the transmission had more past issues before, which was not true. The car was great. I never had a issue, it was inspected, and it never had any problems. If it would've had a transmission problem when I had the car inspected, it would've had issues but it didn't. So, to make the story short, I ended up paying $3,000 and I’m really not happy. I am very upset.
He said they were gonna send somebody. They sent an inspector and the inspector said that the oil was too dark or whatever. When I took the car to the mechanic, he said, “Barbie, listen. These people, they’re gonna find anything not to help you. The oil was a regular color. I didn't see anything wrong with this.” He said that it was all a transmission issue. I think it was just technically, recently that happened. I said, “Yes, but that hasn’t been used, I barely use it.”
So, that was the reason I got a bigger car. So, that one, I think, was the one that I drive to go to the store or maybe I don’t use it for a couple weeks or like that. And I ended up paying almost three grand out of pocket. I had to take a loan, a $3,000 loan, and it ended up being that that loan is costing me now $12,000. If you have my business and something happens to my car, I think you should fix the car, obviously. I have my insurance on it. It’s not that I’m irresponsible. It’s just that if I’m being irresponsible, I won’t put an insurance on the car. They insured the car and I’m very precautious with that. And this company tells me to try to go back. And then when I wanna put a claim, all of a sudden, they tell you that they can’t do it or they can’t fix it, that it’s just old and all that. I am doing the process, but I am gonna be cancelling the policy and I’m gonna go with a different company.
They did provide a transmission that I’ve had to use but at the end of the day, I paid for it. So, I think customer service, they got good customer service, but in reference of repairs and what they did, they knew I was in a bad situation. My mother had passed. I explained to them that financially I was really struggling, that I couldn't do it. And at the end of the day, I did pay the three grand. I got the loan. They passed the paperwork to the bank. It’s a $13,000 loan and I pay every month. And after I pay for this, I’ll cancel it. This company is not good.

Thank you for your comments. We are glad that even though the transmission repair was not a covered repair,we were able to work with the shop you chose and the parts supplier to save you so much money on the repair. Thank you for choosing Protect My Car.
