I signed up for Protect My Car's services in case my car breaks. Also, some of the different auto warranty companies were too expensive. The reps at Protect My Car were nice. I got an oil change free one time and it was the mechanic that filed the claim for it. I’m paying a fair price for my warranty right now.

Thanks again for your comments.

I got a service contract from Protect My Car because my car was older and I might need some repairs. Their rep was very cooperative and very informative. He told me all about the program. I filed a claim fifteen days after I bought it. All I did was turn over my information to my mechanic and he contacted them, and they paid their half and I paid my half. They had to replace the motor right away. I was very satisfied with the service package that I got.

Thank you once again for your comments. Please let us know if you have any questions or if there is anything else we can do for you.

At first, I didn’t understand everything that Protect My Car took care of. They didn’t tell me all the information on the first call. But when I called again to make sure what do they do fix, they broke down everything. And I like it. I've had the warranty for six months. So far they provided tune-ups. I file my claim through the mechanic because they could talk to them directly. But it’s not every month that I have to get this car worked on. They gave me something for the month of August, that I didn’t have to pay them. If I don’t have another going wrong with the car, they shouldn’t let me pay for the month of August.

Thank you for choosing Protect My Car.

The people at Protect My Car were helpful. They helped me out when I needed it. I got a warranty in case something happens to my car, and I went with them because they were cheaper than other providers. I could afford what they were asking. Their reps were nice and kind to me. Then when my car battery ran down, they took the information and sent someone over there to help me. The claim process then went fine and took me at least 45 minutes.

Thank you, too, for referring folks to us. We will treat them with just as much respect as we do you.

28 messages after I said no thank you to the first 1. I assume these are the guys constantly calling my phone as well. Will never do business with this company. I already get enough spam! Stop messaging me! I said no thank you repeatedly. You've earned this review!

It is really unfortunate that you are having so many spam emails. So you'll know, your contact information was never in our system and emails were not sent out to you from our company. As you should be aware, any individual who wants to stop receiving emails should simply use the unsubscribe button. There really is no reason to suffer from so many unwanted emails as you indicated you received. Legitimate companies, like ours, will not do that to you or anyone else.

I was googling and I saw auto warranties. I thought it would be a good idea to have. One thing went down on my car and I fixed it, and I figured there was more to come so, I signed up for it. The rep from Protect My Car did a good job. The transmission in my Dodge Charger was messed up and when I filed a claim for that, it cost a couple of thousands of dollars. Protect My Car paid half. Everything has been good so far and I recommended them to a couple of people.

Thank you for your comments. It really means a lot to us all to know our efforts are really helping give our policy holders good peace of mind.
Great point, too. You never really know when a major breakdown will happen. It just makes sense to protect yourself before it does.

Protect My Car called my phone twice in one day, seeking to telemarket a car warranty to me. They have violated both federal and state law by doing so, yet refuse to even discuss the matter with me. I wonder if they are aware that illegal telemarketing is a criminal offence in the state of Florida?

While Protect My Car disagrees with this complainant, it does not respond to potential or pending legal matters via online message boards. This consumer's complaint will be handled in the appropriate forum at the appropriate time.

My car has over 140,000 miles and I didn’t have any warranty. I know how expensive it is if something breaks down. Protect My Car offered me three free oil changes which is a little more than other warranty providers gave. I went with them and the reps whom I worked with were specific with the things I was covered under. They did a good job explaining everything. The rep assured me that if I had any questions, Protect My Car would be there. I had a very good experience with them.

Thank you for your review and for choosing Protect My Car to help you protect your car and your budget. We appreciate that very much and we know you'll save a ton of money with this coverage.
We are one of the few companies that welcomes folks who have older, higher mileage vehicles. Those are not only more prone to breakdowns (which is why most companies reject them) but can be very expensive to repair. That's why this coverage is so important.
Thank you for choosing Protect My Car to help you. We appreciate your business.

The insurance I had wasn't efficient enough, and Protect My Car covered everything else that I didn't have. When my car shut off twice on the highway, both happening within a week, they got me a tow truck and got the car fixed. However, I had to pay half price the first time. The second time, I paid the whole thing. They were dealing with Pep Boys, the people I took it to, and they didn’t tell me what was wrong with it. They just fixed it. Nonetheless, I've recommended a lot of people to them.

Thank you for your comments. We appreciate your choosing Protect My Car to help you with your repairs. As we understand the estimate from your shop, your ignition module needed to be reset. We were happy to pay for the tow and help with the mechanical repairs you needed. Your coverage guarantees a savings of at least 50% on mechanical repairs and pays for recommended oil changes, tire rotations, towing and roadside assistance, as well as other benefits.

When I signed up with Protect My Car it was still different. It's like they cover 50% of whatever mechanical issue that happens on your car. I filed a claim about three times. Some of them are successful and some are not. When I was signing up, I didn't know or I was not told that there were some certain things that Protect My Car would not cover. If I knew that, I may not have signed up because most of what the warranty that I've seen so far cover almost everything but Protect My Car does not. Basically, they cover mostly anything that has to do with the engine.
Anytime I check in my car, I give the mechanic my number and the name on the claim number and they are the ones who mostly do the claim. I filed a claim for my BMW for something that was coming from the engine. Other things will be changed -- ignition coil, the iDrive controller and some other stuff but it took me too long. It was almost about 10 days to get them to cover some certain things eventually. And then recently, when the car was having a water pump issue, they provided that also. However the car was already sold so, I'm looking to call to inform Protect My Car about that.

Thank you for choosing Protect My Car and thank you again for your comments.

When I purchased my Protect My Car warranty, we had a few issues with getting me my documents. The guy sent it online but I had a problem getting it. So, he sent it in the mail like I requested. And then, they provided me with the numbers that I needed at the time. At first, I thought of cancelling, because I called them when I went to a particular place, and the guy I spoke to wasn’t very helpful. He said they gotta talk to the service people and not me. I told him I was at the place and asked if he wanted to talk to them. But then he said the service people need to call Protect My Car. He was very rude the first time. But the rest of the time, I just let the companies, wherever I went, to call them.
It's not really clear what Protect My Car covers and what they don’t. Every time I take my vehicle for service, I just let them cover it. Now, one of the providers really doesn't wanna accept it because of what they go through to get an approval. The guy didn't wanna deal with them. It took a long time for them to answer him on the phone. He had to wait. And you could imagine service personnel, they’re really trying to get them cars out of there. They don't have time to hold on to them long.
The place that I got my brakes at, they were looking to see about our axle, and in order to get the approval, they had to deal with Protect My Car more than once because it's the first time I was gonna do that for the axle. So, I needed to go back, check and see what was going on with that. And then, I went back there with another more pressing issue. They called and they spoke to two different people at the same company. Both of them did not want to deal with the warranty company. But the last place I went to, they were used to dealing with those types of companies, so it didn’t bother them as much. They just dealt with them and told me the price.

We do appreciate your choosing Protect My Car and know you will save a lot of money with this program.

When I bought a used Kia, I submitted for information and I received a solicited call from Protect My Car. After getting their call, I did my best to get my best deal and it worked, and I put them to the test. They were simple and honest. What they told me that I was getting was the service and policy that I got and I was very impressed with them. Even the service department where I took the vehicle in said that Protect My Car was so easy to work with. They were quite surprised at how simple and efficient their team was in making payments and approving. So, I’m very pleased.
I already knew I had a claim that I wanted to file. So, I asked them specifically and directly when the policy was going to take effect and how long I have to review it to make sure that they are going to provide service if I need it. They said it would be in effect within 15 days and I would have 30 days to review it. So, day 16 I was in for service and they ended up paying out over $1,500, and I had only paid in one month of premium. So, they have honored their deal. I was absolutely satisfied with my experience with Protect My Car.

Thank you for choosing Protect My Car to protect your vehicle and your budget.

I had an older vehicle and I know I will need a maintenance request eventually, and Protect My Car was the cheapest and the best for me financially. The interaction with the rep was good and he sold me on the warranty. He hasn't steered me in the wrong direction so, it has been pretty good. I filed a claim for a compressor issue for the air conditioner and the process took a little bit of time but they were able to work. I paid only half the cost, which was good and it's what I usually do. It just depends on what kind of maintenance it needs. Overall, it was a very good job from Protect My Car.

At first, I was promised by Protect My Car that they would cover things and that I would pay nothing but the down payment. Then, I realized that I didn’t need it. I have paid repairs on my own without me having to even reach out to them, so I didn’t think that was convenient for me at the moment with payments. I didn’t like the way it worked out and it was not worth it. I haven't cancelled yet, but I didn't make the last payment and they called me back and said that I missed the payment. My warranty on my car went out and I was looking for insurance. I was looking under my AARP and Protect My Car was offered under that. The sales representative was very nice and very knowledgeable. However, I didn’t have a very good experience with the other reps. My car quit in the middle of the highway and it started up long enough for me to make it to the Nissan dealer. I tried to get Protect My Car on the line and the Nissan person said, “Well, I can get them on your phone because I gotta wait on other customers.” It wasn’t a real good experience because she was like, “Well, you should have called us.” It was a long process I had to go through. It took I don’t know how long to get a reimbursement.
But once I got another representative on the phone, she was 100% helpful, excellent and very nice. She called back, made sure that I understood what the process was. I told her how many times I sent the email out and she told me to send her that. She walked me through everything and said, “Just expect our reimbursement.”

Thank you again for choosing Protect My Car.

Before purchasing a warranty with this company ensure that you understand their exclusion policy regarding fluids. Should you need a repair that requires the replacement of any needed fluid for completion of said repair be aware that per the exclusion portion of your coverage you are responsible for the cost. Your deductible plus these additional cost, shop fees and and any applicable item in which the company does not want to cover. My radiator needed to be replaced due to a leak in the top right corner, I was responsible for the fluids that had to be put back in to complete the repair. So, just be careful and read before your placed in a situation to have to cover the addition cost of fluids.

In your specific case, the coverage was for the repair of the radiator, not for fluid replacement. While the fluid replacement did cost you a little more, the coverage did save you over $500 on just that one repair. Without the coverage you would have paid for the fluid replacement and the $500 repair cost. We are glad the coverage worked for you exactly as described in the coverage booklet and as promised by our agents.
Should you ever have any questions about your coverage, though, please call.

I needed protection on my truck and Protect My Car's price was reasonable. I used a different company before for another vehicle I had, but I got shafted so I dropped them. With Protect My Car, I'm very satisfied. During the purchase process, their reps asked me a lot of questions about my vehicle and everything worked out. They were very polite and we were able to do business. When I talked to them, it was on the money. They were great. Their customer service called me last week about my payment being late. I told them why and they were very understanding. As soon as I could find a certified dealer that will fix the part that I need, then I can go ahead and go forward with it.
I’m happy with my claim experience too. They did a great job. I did my part and Protect My Car did theirs. I was in and out. The process and fix were done on the same day. I practically got a new truck. My truck is a 2001 and after I got through, it is now a 2014. They replaced the tire rods and did the water pump. They did a lot of stuff to my truck. I have recommended Protect My Car to some friends of mine.

Ok so long story short if you miss even one payment with them they drop you instantly. Lost my debit card, ordered a new one, forgot to update payment information BUT was still receiving reward points on my account even after the fact. Was in the process of moving received a bunch of mail yesterday with 1 notice (they claim they sent 3) in regards to my account being past due. It said my account was suspended not cancelled. Called up to make a payment for the amount that was due and was told I couldn't no longer do business with them... Despite me being beyond willing to make the payment they dropped me so I took my business elsewhere for a better rate, same incentives. So thank you PMC for allowing me to take my business elsewhere and save myself over $100+ a year since my bill with this new company is now a little over 10 dollars less than what I was paying with you.

Thank you for your comments. We do appreciate your trying Protect My Car and regret that you were unable to keep up with your payments. Best of luck to you with your subsequent choice. We hope it works out better for you.

I got a service contract for my vehicle, which is an older one and has 20,000 miles on it. If anything major is to happen, I don’t have to come up out-of-pocket with a full expense. Most companies don’t wanna cover you if you go a certain number of miles, and the payment is deductible when you have a lot of miles. With Protect My Car, it's 50%. So, if you're over 100,000 miles, they base the deductible on your mileage that you have on the car. So, they're gonna protect whoever. If you have 200,000 miles, you wanna be protected, and you probably just have to pay 75% of the price to fix the car.
If a transmission would go, you're talking several thousands. So, you only have to come up with $59 or $2,000. And the beautiful part about it is that they shop for the transmission for you. You get the best price on the market for the transmission. They don’t let the dealership do that. Some dealers want to do that and wanna charge you extra fee for them to ship the transmission. I had that situation recently. The rep from Protect My Car made sure I got the best deal possible. He negotiated with me and then he advised me to take the vehicle from that dealership even though it ended up costing me $130 something to take it to somewhere else because once they serviced it, I had to absorb the evaluation cost. They wouldn’t cover for that. But they're good at recommending you to other people that’s gonna really work with you.
They referred me to Meineke in Kingston. They were very good and they told me I didn’t need a transmission. One of the gears was bad, but it sounded like it was coming from the transmission because it was revving really high. The transmission slips and kicks a little bit, but it's not major. I probably need an overhaul or one of those devices inside the transmission needs to be repaired. But last time, the other dealer wanna go full speed saying I need a brand-new transmission. Of course, that’s more money in the pocket for the mechanic and for the company.
With Protect My Car, I feel better having the extra coverage in case anything happens again. They also worked with me after I spoke with them regarding putting off a payment to another date. At this point, I am considering putting the coverage as well on my other car. It also has a lot of miles but it's a really good car. Once you put a car with them, you have to wait 30 days before you could file something because they don’t want people having a problem pre-hand, some fraudulent stuff. Another beautiful part about Protect My Car is that you could take the car to any mechanic, but you wanna make sure before you do that that you let your mechanic know who you're dealing with and you let Protect My Car know who you're dealing with, so this way, they could be onboard with documentations and so forth.

Thank you for choosing Protect My Car. We appreciate your business.

I got an extended auto warranty so I could have my mechanical issues fixed in case I had any. Protect My Car had pretty good ratings so I figured they'd be the best bet. The sales reps did pretty good. The only thing is there were a few issues that I wasn’t too particularly happy with. My booster pumps went out in my truck. I took it in and Protect My Car said that I was just under the mileage part to where the contract had basically kicked in, which I understood. So I went on and had to fix it myself.
The booster pumps went back out again and I took the truck back in and Protect My Car said that they would fix it, and then they turned around after the shop had taken everything apart. They said that they didn’t cover it now. They may have decided that they don’t fix not knowing the issues. They re-emailed the policy and they highlighted what was covered and what wasn’t. I told them, “Well, you should have never told me in the beginning that it was covered.” I wish that they would have told me that before I had the shop take the truck apart. If they would have told me they didn’t cover it, I would have never worried about it. And it’s $3,500 to fix it and I still haven't got it fixed. I would rather have them be more explanatory on the things that they cover and don’t cover. If they’re not gonna cover some, they don’t need to tell me that they are, and then turn around and don’t cover it. I wouldn’t recommend them to nobody.

Thank you for the comments. It is nice to be able to finish the story you started. That repair was done in March, before you completed the 30 day waiting period. That waiting period, by the way, is simply because the coverage does not cover pre-existing conditions.
In June, you had to take the vehicle back in for basically the same repair. Although the shop you chose gave you a 90 day warranty on the repair, that warranty was no longer effective. So this coverage paid all but your $100 deductible on the repair the second time around. That means that after having the coverage for seven months, you have already saved more (on just this one repair!!) than the coverage has cost you. Not bad! That's how you can tell you made the right choice to protect yourself and your budget with Protect My Car.Thank you for choosing Protect My Car.

Protect My Car said they would be paying for certain things and they were not gonna pay for the rest. They should inform me as a customer and say why they’re only paying for that. If I get the reason, then it’ll be nice and I’ll feel better about it because I’ll understand why they only paid 300. Nevertheless, they did pay out and they did respond but I’m gonna have to give it up for now. At the moment, this is just an additional expense that I cannot afford so. I have a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle and I purchased the warranty due to high mileage. I purchased it to cover all the electronics in my car. At the time of purchase, my interaction with the rep was nice, smooth and clear. But when I filed a claim, it was difficult and frustrating. I found out parts were not covered and I felt ripped off. They call something a navigation unit and when you use the word navigation, I think GPS. So I thought I didn't need it. It doesn't really matter if the GPS isn't covered. I have GPS. But the navigation unit is actually the center console which handles your air conditioning, your radio and the most important parts of your car. It's your car's computer and that's the part that broke.
They told me that they understand I have an electric vehicle at the time of sale and that the warranty covers all my electrical parts that I need. And it was disappointing to find out that my claim wasn't covered. The only good thing was that they did cover the other part. The value of the repair of the other part was basically the cost that I had incurred up to that point. So it was not as if I had lost money at Protect My Car so I was happy with that. I had also been able to reach the person at Protect My Car very quickly. The people called back and were very responsive.
Everything is working correctly now. Also, they were very concerned about the navigation unit. I spoke to several representatives and explained my frustrations. They said they were going to take off $1,500 off the policy so instead of paying $150 a month, it would come out to around $58 a month. So they tried to make good. For the loss of funds that I had to shell out of pocket, they were going to compensate that way until it came out to the amount that I had spent.

We are glad that in order to help you out, we discounted your coverage by $2,000 and deferred you monthly payment to help you with the non-covered component repair. That's what Protect My Car is famous for. We do not simply deny a claim and leave our customers hanging. We help even with those repairs clearly not covered by the terms of the policy.

I needed some type of coverage and when I got a call from Protect My Car, it came through as spam and I just answered the phone. I was still at work and I didn't have time to really talk about it when I decided to take the warranty. I came to find out there are better warranties than the one they offered, but I just left it alone. When I had a rack and pinion issue, Protect My Car replaced it. I had to pay my half before they paid their half. It was straightforward and I heard that it’s better coverage. Some companies pay 60, 70, but then, Protect My Car pays 30%. I’m paying $90 a month for something I won't use much and I’ve been doing this for a while now. I don't see my car breaking down, but I don't know when it will and for whatever the case may be, there is a benefit to it.

One great way to know you have the right coverage is to compare what you pay for the coverage versus what you save with the coverage. On this one repair, you will save almost twice what you have paid in premiums. Most customers find they are saving far, far more in repair amd maintenance costs that the coverage is costing them. That's how you know you have good coverage.
Thank you for choosing Protect My Car and thank you again for your comments.

When the warranty on my vehicle was running out, I felt that I needed coverage. And I'm glad I came into contact with Protect My Car. I had good experience with their rep when I purchased. However, I changed to a different car, and the second experience wasn't as pleasant as the first time. Maybe the person was having a bad day. I thought about canceling, but I didn't. And so far, the warranty has been good. For what I needed it, it has been fine. I go into the dealership and the dealership deals with them about the claims, and then I pay the copay.

Thank you for choosing Protect My Car (both times). We look forward to helping you when the need arises.

Protect My Car made it seem like their warranty was really nice and that it was a good deal. Their rep made it sound good saying that I wouldn’t be out of any money from my pocket. They also told me how to do stuff and they were cordial. They were cool for a minute, but then I had several problems with them. I paid around $640 to get a service man to work on my car, and I thought Protect My Car would cover it. I had to pay half of the bill, but then Protect My Car came back telling me that I had to pay more money for something else. I was out about $900.
Plus the folks that fixed the car didn’t fix it right. It ended up blowing a head gasket or whatever they paid the man for. He just kept my car for three months, and they were having a problem getting a part on there. I went ahead and ordered the part, but they didn’t wanna use that part. They wanted to use Protect My Car. So, the man had done the work on the car and then they sat the car, put a hood on it and didn't put the part on there.

Your coverage reduces the cost of mechanical repairs by 50%. Your shop did find additional problems with your vehicle and you did have to pay abut $900, but that was after the coverage reduced those costs by half.
Your coverage also pays for recommended oil changes and tire rotations and these services do not require any out of pocket cost to you. We also pay for towing and road side assistance.
You should know that this coverage has already saved you over $1,100 in repair costs, towing costs and oil change expenses. That's the amount you would have had to pay the shop if you did not have this coverage. You have already saved almost three times what you have paid for the coverage over just the first six months. Not a bad deal by any means.

I always had a service contract for my car but I found something that I could afford with Protect My Car. I couldn't afford the payment with my previous company. I made claims for two oil changes with Protect My Car. I’ve been doing my claims online. But I think I got the wrong email address and I had to call several times. On the last one, I had to call to get another email address and I called them to find out if they received what I sent. They told me it was there.
When I have a claim, I just go to the service place. For the first claim I did, I didn't know that I had to go to a special service place that was in their network. I went to one that wasn’t. I had to pay for the services at first. I then had to submit a receipt to the office to get a reimbursement. I got reimbursed but it took too long. For my second claim, I had an oil change at Jiffy Lube but I didn't know that protect My Car's office was closed on a Sunday. I had to send in another invoice.

I made the mistake of emailing these folks from a Facebook ad, hoping to get a simple email reply. They are harassing me and now and call me from numbers all over the country 3 times a day so I can't block them. Doesn't seem like the practices of a legitimate company, either way I am purely disgusted.

All anyone has to do is ask not to be called again to be removed from a calling list. Of course, better practice, if you do not want any calls, is not to enter your information on line and then click the button requesting a phone call.
We do apologize if you considered the two calls our company made to you at your request were in any way "harassing".

I had taken my car to Acura, but the next time I went there to do my oil change and a few other things, I was told they were not gonna take Protect My Car. They said the last time was a headache. Protect My Car didn’t want to pay for their work and questioned everything. But because I have to leave there with my car, I went ahead and paid for whatever it was and got it over with. It’s supposed to be 50-50, as I was told from the beginning, but it wasn’t that. So I feel like it doesn’t make any difference. If anything happens and my car breaks down, I’m gonna end up paying for everything.

You may certainly continue to use any licensed shop you want to use. We regret that you shop was unwilling to reduce their charges to what is standard in the industry.

Getting a policy is a good thing to do when your car doesn’t have a warranty and on top of that, when knowing that anything can take place at any given moment. You might be limited with funds. It’s always good to know that there’s a company that can actually help you out whether it’s 100% of the bill or even half. It still plays a factor. When I started, I got a phone call out of the blue and the young man was telling me about somehow, somewhere, my name came up in car protection. He was explaining everything and since I thought I needed it right then, I ended up going with Protect My Car.
That interaction with the young man struck a positive cord too. He came from a long line of military and he was thanking me for my service. Then on the other end, he made the whole experience a real great one. I’m also deeply satisfied with the package that I signed up for. I’m even looking at hopefully getting another car so I can get the 100% kit they have. Right now, Protect My Car is covering 50% of my bill and I’m really glad with it. I actually have to get service done that’s gonna run me $2,800 and Protect My Car is covering half the bill. So that works out really great.
I also needed a new alternator and a new battery so I called Protect My Car. It was my first time so I didn’t really know exactly what to do. They told me to just go into the shop, let the car shop call them and give the car shop my number. It went from there and throughout the whole process, the car shop was calling me to verify if everything was okay, in terms of what was going on with the vehicle. I really had nothing to do. Protect My Car took care of everything. I like their services. Everything flows smoothly. They also have two free oil changes a year. I got an oil change now and they took care of that so that was great. The experience was fantastic and I already told folks about Protect My Car, especially with the fact that every month, they put points into my account so I get to travel, sign up for hotels and get discounts.

They allowed me to pick who I wanted to deal with to do the transmission. And they handled all the financing part, and it was seamless. They picked up half of the bill and that made it great on my out-of-pocket expense. And after that, I continued service with them, and I’ve gotten two free oil changes. I’m very happy with the service they provided.

I thought Protect My Car is pretty good, so I got covered through them. So far, dealing with them has been good. However, they could have explained their claims process a little better. I used the warranty once and the claim took a while to get approved. I had the service done first, then I gave the guy the information I have. After everything was done, he called the company to get the claim approved, and then he had to re-call again to have it paid. Protect My Car kinda messed me up, though. The service people had to explain everything they had to use, and when they said windshield wipers, Protect My Car made me pay for those. I had a coupon that included windshield wipers as a free gift to having an oil change but they still wouldn’t approve it because they don’t do windshield wipers.

Getting a warranty makes sense. I was thinking either that or just save $50 every paycheck and if I have mechanical problems, I’ll go into an automobile savings. But with Protect My Car, there is the difference in half and it just about covers everything. I look at it as being a service for me and sure enough, it worked out when my starter went out. It took a little while but the mechanic was kinda panicky and he tried to price gouge. He said Protect My Car denied the claim but when I asked him how much it was and he said the price, it was no wonder. I told him I would have denied that too. The company is even a mechanic for our vehicles through our job.
He thought Protect My Car would pay for all of it and I was pretty upset about that because he gave me a high price and it was only a starter and something else. It seemed like this guy was trying to get one over me. I was even gonna call Protect My Car back to tell them to cancel the whole thing because the starter went out a day afterwards and the mechanic was gonna try to tell me the issue was something else. But I knew the starter was the problem. I took it back to him and he made it right.
With all that said and done, it worked out well. The experience was good and I’m satisfied. In fact, I’ve been referring people to Protect My Car. If any other things arise, I’m gonna have to make sure I pick the right mechanic because Firestone and Pep Boys overcharge. A lot of their stuff is overrated and they will try to find every other thing that get their upsales up. Some of those companies price gouge but I let them know upfront that I'm paying half and the warranty company is paying half.

I wanted to try out Protect My Car and the very sweet sales rep I talked to on the phone did a good job. However, I'm very dissatisfied. I thought they covered everything, but when I tried to file a claim for the catalytic converter, they don't cover that. I'm thinking about going to a different company because right now, it’s just too expensive than all they're paying in the past. There are companies out there that would pay more than half.

Our coverage covers almost all mechanical breakdowns (except wear and tear items). Some companies pay a higher percentage, but significantly reduce the number of components they are willing to cover at that higher percentage. So your choice is a 50% reduction on a wider range of repairs, or a higher rate of repair savings on only a limited number of repairs. Get all the facts and we think you will find that Protect My Car's level of coverage, low cost premiums, 50% reduction in mechanical repairs, free oil changes, road side assistance and towing and a host of other benefits, can't be beat.

I bought a used car, one that's over 10 years old, and I thought it might be a good idea to have a warranty for mechanical failure. Protect My Car looked like they had a good record, so I decided to work with them. They were helpful and cordial as they discussed things with me, and it was straightforward. The coverage was well-explained and they told me the different variables. I understood the policy well after they explained it. They cover half of the repair cost for anything that is not wear and tear or due to it, like mechanical failure, but not tires or brake pads because those are gonna wear down all the time.
I used the warranty for an oil change, and when I was at the shop, the person there got on the phone with Protect My Car and they worked through how to bill it. The only issue was they cover basic oil change, but I like to use the silicone blend oil because it lasts longer and it increases the performance of my engine. I just didn't think to ask then if I could get the silicone blend and pay the difference.
The gentleman from Protect My Car who I was speaking with started going into detail about what the shop could and couldn't do. I tried to explain to him that I didn't have an accident, and it wasn't a major repair. I told him I was doing an oil change, which is repeating, and I’ve done a whole bunch of them. But I got what he was trying to do. He wanted to make sure I knew everything, and that the garage isn’t gonna charge me for something that wasn’t broken. He was being excessively helpful, trying to make sure. Maybe they’ve dealt with garages in the past that once they know that you have coverage, they're gonna try to charge you different things. He was only cautious and trying to protect the business. He didn't want the business to get taken for a ride.
Nevertheless, I’ve been with those guys for years and they are reputable. I was on a military base, and they were contracted to do mechanical work on a military installation. So, they don't wanna mess that up by doing fraudulent work or charging for stuff that they're not doing. I told the guy from Protect My Car that we were not having any issues like that, and he didn't need to go over his long spiel with me. I just need him to get the shop the information they need so they could bill the company. Other than that, the service is great. My experience, overall, was very good.

I figured I was gonna need an extended warranty sooner or later, then the rep told me that the warranty would protect my car throughout the period that I signed up for. He also told me how much it would be to protect my and my wife's car in case we had any mechanical breakdowns. He showed me a plan that was a little out of my price range, another one that was within and I went with the one that was in my price range. In terms of quality and cost, we all know that every car will eventually break down, so it requires repairs and getting the car back out as quick as possible is bar none the best thing that could happen.
When I filed a claim with my wife for her transmission, I called up Protect My Car over the phone and I was told everything I needed to do then I got in contact with the person I chose to do the transmission and it was done just like that. However, the wear items like brake rotors, brake pads, clutch, oil and tires were not covered. The rep walked me through what I would have to do to file the claim if I ended up getting the policy and then a week later or a month later, something happens with my car. I would have to find a shop to do it and then put the shop in touch with Protect My Car and that way they could take care of it, talk to the shop and see that going from there.
I spun a rod bearing and it made a really loud cracking sound. Filing the claim went very smoothly and I got calls either every day or every other day for an update from the shop. Protect My Car gave Pep Boys all the stuff and they have to run diagnostics prior to filing a claim to find out what's wrong with my car.
However, I feel like Pep Boys doesn't know what they are doing and I don't know if they really did what they said what they were supposed to do. After doing that a couple of times or so, I took my car to the Chevrolet Dealership. Now my car is in the shop again for the same situation I had before. When I was getting the warranty set up, I wasn’t aware that I needed a whole lot of money in front to get it started, but they worked with me on that until I had the money. Still, the first part of getting my car fixed was a living hell because they didn’t provide me with the services I needed on time. Supposedly, they had ordered me a transmission and it was sent to the shop where my car was being fixed here in Denver, Colorado, but the dude that had it on a semi truck didn’t have the paperwork, so it had to be shipped all the way to Florida, where the transmission came from.
Finally, they got the part to the shop where my car was staying forever. Protect My Car was just beating around the bush all the time and I was sick of it. It was too long for me to be arguing. I've already paid them $1,700 and I have no car. They talked to my warranty people and gave them the credit card number. Protect My Car paid 50% on it which is still better than me having to pay it all. I'd recommend them to others.

We do work hard to make sure your experience with Protect My Car is a positive one and that the whole process, from choosing the right coverage, to making sure it is comfortable on your budget, to fast and efficient claims service, towing and rental car benefits, gives you great peace of mind.

Protect My Car was very affordable and I would recommend them. I was impressed with the quotes and what I could get with the money I pay monthly. The reps were very good and walked me through the process because I never had an extended warranty before. I was able to get some major work done and I ended up paying only half, which was extremely beneficial to me. They seem to have relationships with a lot of different vendors out there, so that’s very helpful as well. I took the car to the shop and they were familiar with Protect My Car, which was really good. They were very friendly and broke down to me how much I was gonna pay from the minute I got there. I was very happy with the results so, the process was very good. There were some issues as far as getting the parts, so that was what I was waiting for but everything was cleared that day.

Please let us know if you have any questions or if there is anything we can do for you.

My truck had so many miles on it and nothing was ever broken on it, so I figured it was gonna start breaking soon. I decided to work with Protect My Car. They just happened to catch me at a weak moment. Buying a warranty for my vehicle seemed like a waste of money and I’m regretting that I bought it. Nothing is still going wrong with my truck and nothing is probably gonna go wrong with it, and I’m still paying $100 a month. I could put that in a savings account so when something goes wrong with it, I could afford to fix it. I’ve been with them for seven months so that’s $700. I have gotten two oil changes, which were 70 bucks each, so I got some of that back.
The first oil change was pain in the butt because I called and they said it wasn’t open. And then, it was open. I called back and I had to hand my phone to the guy. So, there was some confusion. It shouldn’t have been that hard. The second time, the guy made me wait for 30 minutes because he didn’t add the tax in, so the work order was messed up. So, I got stuck there for about a half an hour while Protect My Car worked out the details. I’m gonna take the truck to my mechanic because my light just came on, and I gotta get it inspected. So, there might be something small wrong with it. My mechanic is a local guy, so we’re gonna see how that works out.

Thank you for choosing Protect My Car.

Everything is going great with Protect My Car and I’ve already recommended them to several different people I know. With me being on limited income ‘cause I’m on SSI, a warranty would help me pay for major mechanical issues and everything else. I figured it was also a backup safety feature in case my insurance didn't cover anything. Protect My Car guaranteed that they covered half of all major mechanical issues such as motors, ball bearing issues, etc. It also included alignment. The main reason I chose them was I knew that they would cover their part as long as I covered my part. And it seemed reasonable.
I filed a claim for the ball bearing on my Chevy Venture. I did what I call window shopping for different prices to see who was the lowest at the first quote. I went to Express Oil Lube and Change here in Athens, Georgia off Broad Street and got a quote from them for $360. I then took that quote over to Pep Boys because they have this thing where they’ll match price plus take an additional 5% as a discount and wrote that through to Protect My Car after getting the quotes. Protect My Car cut it in half and I paid the other half that day to get my vehicle fixed so I wouldn’t have any issues with work or the doctor’s appointment.
When I went in to make the payment, I asked, “Have they covered their half yet?” They said, “We’ve worked with them before. It’ll take about a week for us to get our payment from them.” I said, “Okay, so, there are no issues. I can go ahead and pay the 118 and some change, and I can drive off my vehicle?” The manager of the store said yes. So, I did all of that and I haven’t heard anything back since then, other than I need to make my payments. My van broke down and I wasn’t able to work at all this past month so I wasn’t able to make the payment I needed to. I also just got into pain management to control the pain levels that I have and I’ve been sick off and on this past month. Now, I have two vans that I need to put on a multi-car policy and I gotta work in order to get enough money first in order to do that. I’m planning on making payments, but I’ve gotta contact Protect My Car about a multi-car policy because I do Uber Eats.

Thank you very much for your kind comments. We long ago decided that folks with older, high mileage vehicles, and folks on a limited budget, needed more help than the average person does with the costs of car repairs. That's why we created coverage specifically for those folks. Having low cost coverage that saves half on repair costs, pays for oil changes, includes rental car reimbursement, towing and road side assistance and other added benefits really is so helpful to everyone, but especially to folks who need that help the most.
Thank you for choosing Protect My Car to help you protect not just your vehicle but your budget as well. We are very glad to have you as part of our Protect My Car family.

The Protect My Car reps told me that if I can't do a claim, I can just take my car to the mechanics that are ASE certified, and have them call back to get my car. I went through the whole book and everything was good. Even before I got the book, it never took more than a day once I got the book to understand it even more. The process of filing a claim only took about 10 minutes, and then, the whole completion took about two days to get my truck back. They had to do a transmission rebuild, and then, Protect My Car gave me the option to get a new transmission. But I didn't want a new transmission because I want my original transmission to match my motor. So they had rebuilt it, and everything is still good ‘till today.
Everything was good overall. I went to a Dodge dealership for the oil change, and it took 20 minutes, and I was in and out. The only bad thing I had was when my truck started messing up out on the side of the road, and Protect My Car kept saying that somebody would be on the way within 30 minutes. And 30 minutes turned to never, so I just kept waiting. They never showed up, so I ended up getting AAA.

I have seen other companies that if anything goes wrong with your car, it will be fully covered. Hopefully, Protect My Car will get to the 100% stage instead of the 50% stage. But I’m a loyal customer, and I’m sticking with them. Signing up with them was a great idea, and it will help me in the long run, so I jumped on it. I signed up with Protect Your Car because they could save me money. Once the truck hits 100,000, then I’m on my own. But if anything goes wrong, Protect My Car will cover half.
Protect My car was on point when I was purchasing the warranty. But I wished they have more services. I will pay a little bit more if I could get 100% coverage. The rep did a very good job explaining my options, but I was still confused how many is provided for the towing service and the oil service per year. But it was not her problem because it was right there in the manual. So I should’ve fully read the manual.
The people at Protect My Care are really professionals. But I had one bad comment with the tow service. The personal issues or not liking the job of some of their roadside assistance or affiliates will cause them to act a little different. Protect My Car's service quality is good. But there shouldn’t be a limit on what I should get, like oil service. All my cars still take full silicone, so I gotta pay a deductible if I want full silicone. That oil is $57, but the half silicone is $50 exactly on their mark. So, I gotta pay a $7 deductible. But other than that, my experience has been pretty good.

Thanks for your thoughts and comments.

I did some research on the internet and Protect My car had the best extended warranty. I had a really good interaction with the rep when I was purchasing the warranty. I didn't have any questions at the end of it. But it was not pleasant when I had to talk to the claims people. It was pretty rough and dry, and to the point. But it's how the business goes.
The first time I used the claim, I was asked to send Protect My Car the money, so then they would pay the mechanic. I was never heard of that before, but it was okay. On the second time I'm at the mechanic, I was told that Protect My Car paid the mechanic, and it was okay. During the third time, my mechanic had to send them the receipt of my part, which I paid. He had to fax it to them before he got paid. So, I don't understand what's the procedure here because it was completely different in the three times I've used Protect My Car.
The only time I talked to the customer service on the claim was during the first time. After that, I didn't even need to talk to anyone. My mechanic told me what I needed to do. No one consulted me or asked me if this task was done or was it performed or was it someone just using my account. No one cared about to confirm it with me. But in those three times, I had the option to get a tow truck to come pick my car wherever it was. And even though the process for the payment is a little new for me, it got the job done.

I wanted extra coverage for the vehicle that we have and the rep from Protect My Car was amazing. She was very bright, happy, very talkative, and explained everything clearly. My questions and concerns were addressed pretty well up until there was a mix up with our VIN when we tried using the oil change. We went into the dealership and we were stuck there for a while because they were trying to figure out what was going on with the VIN and that was like a whole headache in itself. But our vehicle needed the oil change, so we were just gonna pay out-of-pocket until at the very last minute. That was when everything got resolved.

I've only used the actual warranty once and it was horrible. It took the people forever to call somebody back or answer the phone. And then the girl sat on the phone for like five hours. It took four days for a job that could have been done in two days, but they were waiting on Protect My Car. When I get my oil changed, I don't go to Protect My Car because they take forever to get stuff done. So I'd rather just pay the oil change and have my car right then and there. Overall, Protect My Car saves me money for any repair. If I have to, I'd try my best not to use them. I have a old car with a old transmission. I bought a new Nissan Kicks, and it started out with my Avenger as part of the deal, and now, I don’t want the Avenger to be part of the deal because I may start using it to drive for Uber. So, I don’t wanna use my new car for that, which I don’t wanna put miles on it and it just make sense to get the Avenger back and use it. The only claim I submitted is the oil change. The other thing that I wanted to submit which was for the brakes and they said that they didn't cover it. I also had a bad experience with their customer service. They told me that between the time that I purchased the warranty, and then, they were getting a new company they forgot to take out the payment.
It took a minute to straighten that out and they were very rude. And they took $5 extra out of my account saying it was a late payment. I said no because that wasn't my fault and it was their fault. I asked the guy, "You all weren't authorized to take that late payment fee. Y'all was only authorized to take a certain amount. So, how is it that you all was able to do that anyway?" And he said that he apologized. He's just gonna make sure that I got it back, but of course, that never happened. They never reimbursed it. But I would recommend the warranty especially if you have a later model and less miles. My car when I got it first was old, and it had a lot of miles. I feel like I got a good deal based on the age and the mileage of my car.

I needed the services because my car is over 10 years old. If something happens, at least, I don’t have to pay the whole thing. I like that Protect My Car pays for 50% of the bill regardless of what it is. They also secure their part when they send the payment to the mechanic’s office so I’m diggin’ that. Then I’m on a fixed income and I’m only paying $50-something a month so it’s affordable for me. Plus, it’s just basic. Other warranty companies will pay for something, but not pay for the parts that need to connect with it. It gets so complicated. And I hate that they do that. If in case you need a part just to connect with it, some of them are not covered. You have to come out-of-pocket. Then what I was told is that others pay the mechanic for the amount for the cheapest part, and then the mechanics get frustrated with that. So they still make you pay out-of-pocket. It’s not that way with Protect My Car.
I submitted a claim one time and the process went okay. Everything was like they said. But the mechanic cheated me really bad. He basically lied and sent Protect My Car a false estimate bill of what he did. He gave Protect My Car the one that was written out and he gave me the one he really did. Once I called the car place, the guy was gonna help me follow-up with that to see actually what he did and what he didn’t do. But by the time I called back with the information, he’s no longer there. I asked why they got rid of him and they said that he resigned. He knew I was calling him back. He knew he was gonna help me with this.
I asked why they didn't pay for the big hose that connects from the engine as I was thinking that they will cover that. I had to buy that and replace that on my own. They said they covered that. The person I talked to knew exactly what hose I was talking about as he described it so why wouldn’t a mechanic put that on a bill? He ripped me off with about $800 and there’s nothing I can do about it but take him to court on my own. I don’t have the money so I’m just stuck.
Protect My Car left me behind. They didn’t help me get my money back. They were the payer, they should take the mechanic to court, and I should come. They should represent me because he stole from them even though he didn’t steal any money from them. But he actually stole in honor. He forged my signature and admitted it to me and told me to take him to court. I told Protect My Car that’s not my signature. That should be enough for Protect My Car to take him to court. He dishonored the agreement to forge my name. The mechanic did a lot of illegal stuff to me and Protect My Car wouldn’t do anything. They just note the system that I need to take the mechanic to court and that’s it. I have to be on my own with it. I’m just a client. I don’t even have a lawyer. But they’re involved and they won’t even investigate it! What the hell!
Even now, my engine light is still on. The car place said something about a catalytic converter thing that’s gonna cost $1,700. I really think they did this. They took so much money from me and they rigged my car up. But I would stay with Protect My Car until I find something that gives me a lower rate or something that offers the same thing.

Thank you very much for those comments. We really appreciate them. We do work hard to make sure that with one phone call you can get towed in, activate rental car benefits and get fast, efficient claims service, all with low monthly premiums tailored to fit your budget. That’s what we call good peace of mind. We are very happy that our company, staff and coverage has given you that. I have an older car, so I wanted to protect it just in case anything major happens. I got a warranty from ProtectMyCar based on what I heard over the radio and their rep was real courteous and very informative. But the only thing is when I have to file a claim I have to wait till I get connected with the right people. I had to stay waiting in line with the attendant right there.
They come in and they get your information and you tell them that you got ProtectMyCar and it’s a little bit time-consuming. But at the end of the day, everything goes through. I think instead of calling every time they should have something saved the first time. I would go to the same place. So once I go there they should already have the information. As long as I’m still paying for the coverage, I should be able to just get some kind of password and everything is filled up, so when I go there they could see that I’ve been there and did it, but then all the information, he’s gotta retype it in. But overall, I'm very satisfied. I haven't had any issues with them. Every time I called to get my car serviced, it's not a problem.

I made a claim but then I had to withdraw it and get the money back. I wasn't very satisfied with that 'cause I had paid $400-something for the repair, and I paid with my card. But when they refunded me the money, they sent it to me in check form. I thought they had put it back on my card and I kept checking my account, then I received a check in the mail which I didn't like too much. Still, the overall process was easy.

Protect My Car is terrible, and I’m gonna cancel them. They don’t cover half the stuff that they say they cover. I went through the whole application process and wasted too much of the time getting enrolled. But when I was waiting at the mechanic shop, the shop said, “Well, they’re not covering that. They’re not covering this.” “Well then, let me just pay out-of-pocket.” So Protect My Car doesn’t do me any good.
My vehicle has more than 100,000 miles on it. I don’t expect to trade it any time soon, so I figured getting a warranty is like life insurance. If you’re still living, you might as well put insurance on yourself. I was on the phone with AT&T. And if you have AT&T, you dial 611 out of your phone. For some odd reason, it didn’t connect me to my AT&T but it connected me to Protect My Car. And I was like, “Oh, well. I might as well get it. It’s a weird coincidence, but I might as well buy it.” That was a mistake.
Their rep's explanation was awesome. They had me sold from the very beginning. So I had no issues, and there was no question on my mind that I needed it. When you have an older vehicle, the transmission does cost $3,000 or $4,000, and the rep said they will replace that. And there will be no question asked as long as I take my vehicle to a mechanic that is recognized or corporations that are recognized. And the rep said, "To give you an example, 4 Wheel Parts is one of them. And all you do is when you get there at them, just have them call this number and we will use the credit card to pay half of that amount while you’re standing there.”
That was lie. It took about three hours before they could get anybody to even get on the phone. And I was standing there with the rep. He says, “I apologize. I hate this company. I hate it when a customer comes in and brings this to us. They are a terrible company, and they’re not gonna cover you for nothing. But we’ll do it, just because you’re here.” Protect My Car is not a good company to do business with when they’re not gonna stand behind what they say they would do.

Thanks again for choosing Protect My Car.

Protect My Car was the only warranty provider that would do a car over 200,000 miles. I was having an issue with my vehicle and I took it in for service. There’s a couple of things I didn’t agree with the warranty itself. The service provider said it would be a 10-hour job. But Protect My Car goes strictly by the full 10 hours and it took the service provider 12 ‘cause they came into some problems. Protect My Car wouldn’t do the extra two hours. It was explained in the policy that they'd pay 50% of all repairs but they wouldn’t do the half price for the extra two hours so I had to pay two extra $100 in labor. However, they handled the situation pretty well.

The reason we were not able to help you with the additional two hours of labor was that the shop wanted to do rust removal and charged those additional hours to do that work. Since rust removal and body work is not a mechanical repair, it is not covered under your plan.
Thanks again for choosing Protect My Car and for your comments.

Though I'm comfortable with the package I got, I'm thinking of getting a better one later as I'm having electrical issues now and I haven't turned it a claim on it because I didn't want them to think that I was misrepresenting them. I heard an ad on the radio a few months ago about Protect My Car. They were talking about getting your car covered, and the policies. I thought it was a good idea, so I gave them a call. The rep was very informative. I got a policy right there and then. I didn't have a detailed conversation when I got the package, but I got the gist of it and I knew the major points of it. It's a good package. I have to pay the 50% for my side but it is better than paying 100%. I have peace of mind that the car is under some kind of a policy that can help me in bad times. It’s a good thing to have for a person who is using their car for doing Uber as well.
Submitting a claim was nice and quick. The mechanic or the shop takes care of all the correspondence with Protect My Car. Sometimes it can take a few extra days, which is kind of a drag because your car is just sitting there at the mechanic shop. But you can get the approval within the day if you start the process before the afternoon. There has been a lot of maintenance on my car and Protect My Car has been really good for me. I'm happy with it and I have referred a lot of people to them.

We’ve been maintaining our car pretty well so far but it was getting old, so we wanted to make sure that we had sort of an insurance for it. We did all the due diligence that we could. We considered an insurance so that in case something would go wrong, we would be covered and be able to take care of those issues. I am a business owner and I receive thousands of emails. On the particular day I received an email from Protect My Car, I saw something. I looked through it and it sounded good. They gave me an overview of what they were about and what the cost of everything was from that perspective. For me, it was a no-brainer to go with them. There are companies that say what they wanna do and not necessarily do it, so I wanted to at least try and see what Protect My Car was about. So far, so good in how they ended the bargain.
Their rep was very knowledgeable. She gave me a lot of understanding as to what we were purchasing and also let me know about a bevy of different things. She have me all the details to ensure I know about the different offers that Protect My Car had that I could take advantage of. That in itself helped me out to where I could move forward, know what package I wanted to get, and what I would then be expecting to have at a later date. One of the things that I had from her was about adding on different cars. That was big for me because I do all the business. I can, not only add one but add another car like a truck on to it. That was important to me.
I am satisfied with the package I got but I thought it could be a little bit cheaper. It was probably more or less expensive than a lot of packages that are out there, so I’m not mad at it at all. I think that because the industry is kind of saturated now when you’re trying to get to one’s dollars and cents, that it could be a little bit smaller. But it’s quality over quantity. It’s not overbearing for most people to handle, whether you are a business owner or you’re just a reckless citizen who may not have a lot of money. It fits right in that price point to where they can also have that insurance to make sure that they are covered in case something goes wrong.
It was a great and positive experience with Protect My Car. It was informative. They followed up. They did everything that they were supposed to do like being informative. They let you know what their offers are and not just hiding certain things from you. It was an experience that allowed me to not worry about any issues going on with my car or truck. I was also able to have something that was affordable so if something goes wrong, I’m ensured that at least 50% of that would be covered and I wouldn’t have to entail all of the cost. That's very important to me.

Thank you for taking time to provide comments on your experience with Protect My Car. We appreciate them very much. We do work hard to make sure your experience with Protect My Car is a positive one and that the whole process, from choosing the right coverage, to making sure it is comfortable on your budget, to fast and efficient claims service, towing and rental car benefits, gives you great peace of mind.

I told them we didn't need the one with roadside assistance. We already got roadside assistance with our insurance. So they gave us a different quote. And it has been a pretty good package. They give the oil change and got another oil change for this year.
I had to call once I got there. And when I called the wrong part, and they gave me the right number. I called whoever we're supposed to call. Once they got on the phone, they asked to speak with the guy that's gonna be doing the work, and they took all that information, and went ahead and paid for everything that they need to do, and that's all we had to do. We're satisfied so far. We had no problems. I don't know how it works until I get a card and find out. But so far, it seemed like it's not a problem when you go into a licensed mechanic. Everything's going pretty good. We told several people about them.

I have had the warranty three years. I’ve used it several times. They are excellent at selling you the policy and collecting the monthly fee. Their excellence ends and nitpicking begins. Previously I had a 1400. Bill and they covered about 300. Today I had a 600. Bill and they covered zippo. My temperature mixture broke and they say not covered. I had a blanking mouse crawl into the hvac system and have the misfortune to die there causing a helluva odour. Caused a mechanical failure. Protect My Car didn’t protect squat claiming it was a failure due to mechanics. These are folks out to get your premiums and then deny coverage as much as possible. Choose another company. This one is a dog.

Thank you for your comments. Please remember that this coverage covers mechanical breakdowns. It is not comprehensive insurance coverage. This coverage does not fix damage resulting from exterior factors, such as accidents, floods, or even rodent infestation. Those are things that your insurance may cover. We cover mechanical breakdowns.
As it happens, the coverage paid over $1,960.00 on your last two repairs, while you only had to pay the deductible of $100 per claim. On the $1,400 "or so" repair, we actually paid out $1,484.48, and your cost was only the $100 deductible. We are not sure why you feel compelled to find that unacceptable. Frankly, it's not a bad deal at all.
We do regret that this coverage could not help you with the damage caused by the rodents in your vehicle, but that kind of issue is simply not part of your coverage.

Horribly Complicated and Time consuming service. Such a waste. Wait times on calls average 30-45 minutes which is ridiculous when you're waiting at the auto shop. AND you have to call about 6 times just to get a single repair done. MECHANICS HATE THIS COMPANY!!!

Thank you for your comments. They are certainly surprising. A detailed look at your file shows you paid in a total of $828.90 in premiums over the nine (9) months you had the coverage and saved over $1,556.50 on five (5) claims, which included your water pump, intake manifold, rear main seal, radiator, thermostat and O2 sensor. We also reimbursed your rental car expense and your meals and lodging (trip interruption benefits), as well as provided road side assistance when you ran out of gas. Hardly “shifty” as you put it. We are glad that the coverage saved you so much money that would have otherwise have come out of your pocket. If it took several phone calls and/or more time than you would have preferred to achieve those benefits, we certainly apologize for that.
Most mechanics and reputable shops actually love our company. We have found that only those that do not want their customers to save money or know whether the repairs were actually necessary are the only one that resent a professional adjuster. We have fleet accounts with many national repair chains and hundreds of mechanics and shops refer their customer to us for coverage. We do not believe that any reputable shop dislikes dealing with a company that puts their customers first and saves them money.
Once again, though, we appreciate you providing your opinion.

Thank you for your comments. As is sometimes the case, customers may confuse our service with the shop that the customer chooses to use. We do not do the repair work, the shop does. In this instance, the claim for the replacement engine was filed on May 3. Thank you for your comments. Quite obviously, nothing was "stolen" from your account. When you set up both contracts, you did, in fact, provide approval and authorization for the down payments and monthly premiums to be billed to the account you provided to us. When you sold one car within 30 days of purchasing the contract, we cancelled the contract at your request and refunded the down payment as the contract provided. So I needed to do a lot of work on it to get long term use. This required me to have a maintenance plan rather than an insurance that would only cover a perfectly good working car until it broke down. I really like working with a provider that allows me to cover repair when I can afford it. Working with a good mechanic shop is key in my situation. That I had covered. What I did not plan for was the expense of repairing this car and I am welcome to accept any help PMC provides. It also comes with a coupon reward program that does require some calling and planning. The billing on your contract occurred on February 17, as you had previously authorized and approved. You called to cancel your contract the next day, February 18. Since your cancellation, no further billing has occured on your account, nor will any occur. You might also remember that since you chose to cancel your contract after just a month, we waived the cancellation fee.

WATCH OUT SENIOR CITIZEN and MILITARY. I purchased Protect My Car’s warranty to provide a financial cushion for my F250 as it reached the high mileage stage. About 2 months in, I started a claim to have my oil cooler replaced, and it turned into the most protracted, confusing, and infuriating mess I could imagine. I called the customer service to open my claim and she told me she to take it to an authorized mechanic and let me know if she needed anything further. I never heard anything from them for a week, so I assumed all was well. The repair shop followed up with the email estimate, and repairs, and I had to call claims to ascertain the status. It was then I was told that I had gone about the process wrong, and wouldn’t be covered for the cost of repairs, the shop needed to provide labor hours and part numbers. I knew something was rotten about the company, At that point, I was annoyed, but knew the service wasn’t for me.
The Company never send you any hard documentation or policy they claim they are a green company so you have to memorize the steps by to file a claim and beware if you forget one of the steps it an excuse to denial of your claim but was told how I hadn’t gone about processing my claim correctly. When I asked to speak with a manager, I was informed that it would take 24-48 hours to receive a call back from a manager, and at that point, I was done. Doing business with this company was more frustrating, annoying, misleading, and infuriating than I’d ever want to deal with again. I spoke with someone from Protect My Car over the phone. It was a good sales pitch and it worked out well. They were very professional at that time. However, nothing that was advertised actually really happened. If they went by the things that were prompt and what they have in writing, then they would be a great company, BUT it not!!!

That's a little like trying to buy auto insurance to cover an accident you had the day before.
We do email all contracts to our customers and will gladly provide a hard copy upon request.
We appreciate your comments.

I took my car in to have some work done at a Honda dealer. I got a quote before I even told them that I had an extended warranty. Afterwards the dealer tried to get the claim taken care of as quick as possible but a 2 hour repair turned into 34 hours without a car. Was told the shop sent an estimate of around 626 so I paid 313 for the deductible and the next day they still had not sent the repair approval to the dealership. I had to contact PMC to have someone call and do this so my car would get repaired. After 7 more hours I was contacted by the dealer.
I needed to come in and sign the receipt to be faxed to PMC so they could pay the remainder over the 313 (that I paid) and at that time the total charges for the repair was 487.28 which is 138.72 less than the quote they stated they got at the beginning. I have only had this coverage since Sept so with the cost of the monthly fee and the 313 I could have paid the repair myself plus the one oil change that they did so where have I saved anything. My wife was also stranded on the side of the road and the roadside rescue stated they could not find the account to get roadside rescue so I paid 800 for towing so I have spent more than PMC has on this deal. They have only done one thing - RIPPED ME OFF and made money for themselves.

Your contract says that "your repair cost for the entire CONTRACT PERIOD (after the WAITING PERIOD) will never be more than 50% of the LICENSED REPAIR FACILITY’s original estimate for repair".
The shop provided our claims administrator with a written estimate showing a total estimate of the repair of $627.24. As provided by the guarantee clearly specified in your contract (and as quoted above) your repair cost for this repair would not be more than 50% and 50% of the original repair estimate of $627.24 came to $313.62, which, as you stated was EXACTLY what you paid for this repair.
We regret that you were unable to understand that without the coverage this repair would have cost $627.24, instead of just $313.62. The additional savings ($69.98) was simply not provided for in the contract.
In point of fact, having only paid $200 in premiums, you have already saved $375, with this repair and the free oil change. Glad the coverage helped you so much.

Looking at buying an older used car. Filled out info on 5 different extended warranty sites. Got a call back from 2 OTHER companies that gave me the info in less than 2 minutes. When PMC called me, I was on the phone with them for 10 minutes getting a huge sales pitch which included savings on non-car related junk which I don't care about and don't need (and never ends up being a discount anyway).
At the 10 minute mark I had already been put on hold for about a minute to check if my car would be covered. (I had already provided ALL the details on my car through the website so they should have known by that point.) And then transferred to someone new to handle my call because I would get a Veteran discount. Too bad I had already been told the policy would be $x over y months and I am really good at math so when I was told what my special deal was as a Veteran it turned out to be less than 4% off. Wow, what a savings. It was made to sound better because the monthly payment was lower but it was stretched out over more months. I guess they figure most people can't do math in their head that fast.
At 11 minutes into the call the "Veteran specialist" asked to put me on hold so he could verify that they would cover my car. Ummm, you already did that. This is a sales tactic (second time they used it on me in the same 11 minute call) used to get people to worry about whether they can "qualify" so that when they get back on the phone and say "yes" the customer feels "lucky" and they are more apt to buy. I hung up while on hold. They tried to call me back but I don't do business with companies that jerk me around with phony sales hooks.
Oh, BTW, their price was BETWEEN the two other companies' prices and because it is an older car, PMC has a 50% deductible. The other two companies covered the same types of repairs but only had a $100 "per incident" deductible, kind of like a copay at the doctor. Sure, if I had a $100 claim with PMC I would "only" pay $50 and with the others I would pay $100, but you don't buy insurance (which is what a warranty is) to cover little repairs ($100). You buy insurance to cover the big repairs (like $500+), which would end up costing you $100 with the other guys but costing you 50% with PMC. $2000 repair? Other guys it costs you $100, with PMC it costs you $1,000. BTW, most repairs that really need to be done cost way more than $200, which is the break even point for their deductible compared to other companies.
Bottom line, I don't know about their coverage for cars that are not so old but the "old car" coverage is terrible. Their sales pitch is a waste of your time and the fringe benefits they explain to you during the sales pitch are useless. I also don't know about how well they handle claims since I am not doing business with them. I don't leave reviews all the time and when I do I usually try to be as positive as possible, but PMC's sales tactics really irked me. Make sure you shop around. PMC might end up being your best bet but I certainly won't give them any more of my time, which is more valuable than money. Plus the fact that they made a big deal out of the Veteran discount (which I appreciate) only to have it be next to nothing but made to sound better by stretching the payments out is really reprehensible.

Thank you for your comments. What sound like "sales tactics" are actually our ability to cover vehicles other companies wont, at a much lower price. We are glad you took the time to speak with our agents and hope you find what you are looking for.

Protect My Car pressured repair facility to use substandard Chinese made parts which the owner of the repair facility refused to do. Left in limbo, and finally directed repair facility to get it done as I needed the vehicle. Bottom line is United Services Contract Group (The Claims Adjuster Protect My Car) dropped the ball and it was only after suggesting I get the State Insurance Commissioner and Attorney General-Consumer Protection Bureau involved did I finally receive a settlement nearly a year later which was only for 18% of the total cost of repair. What a JOKE!!!

We provide this service for customers all the time and always require a paid receipt in order to complete the reimbursement. We are sorry that you felt that was an unnecessary step.

Then they failed to honor their verbal contract and billed my credit card for additional month. They failed to honor their agreement with me and that would make them untrustworthy for them to hold up to their agreements. They are slow and inefficient regarding getting their customers documents, this might mean they are equally as slow in fulfilling their claims... Don't make any verbal contracts with these people, get a hard copy and read the fine print before you agree, you might need a lawyer.

I had two previous service contracts with Protect My Car for my vehicle in the past and have never called in for a need. But the first time I called in for a need was when the cylinders in my engine went out and Protect My Car declined the service. Then, they cancelled the policy which was after I paid for two full policies. They told me it was because I changed the wheels on the car. I asked them what did the wheel have to do anything with the cylinder in the engine. They told me that I made modifications. I told them I bought it that way from the dealership and I was told that the serial number says it was supposed to be 18-inches rim but I got 20-inched rim. I was looking at a huge bill to buy a new engine.
My interaction with their staff was horrendous. They were telling me why I lied and why I falsified documents. It was when I got a little steamed because I did not lie. I talked to half a dozen reps because they come and go quickly. It was a battle and a half. The dealership was calling, kept on the phone for over an hour waiting on call waiting. Not only did they declined the service, but they canceled my policy without an opportunity for reimbursement for everything I paid for. They said they would not reimburse me because I lied even though I had the original receipts from Irvine Chevrolet, buying the vehicle as it was.
After a year of having a conversation with them, fighting it and threatening legal action, they offered that I buy a new policy. The new policy would only cover 50% but it would allow "modifications". So, I bought the policy to be able to get my engine repaired since they agreed to cover a pre-existing condition if I bought the new one. I was kind of forced to and it was a horrendous nightmare. I bought it under duress because if not, I had a useless vehicle. I told them that if we buy a new engine, I will continue to pay the monthly amount and they do not have to worry about the engine because it is a brand-new engine from GM and it is covered for three years and unlimited miles.
When we went through it after I bought the contract, they told me they found an engine in a Pick-A-Part and they said that they can get it priced at an amount and they were gonna cover 50% of it. But I told them that it was about an engine replacement. I was told that my engine was used and they were gonna buy me a used engine so we started fighting about it. I wound up paying for more than 50% of the removal replacement of the engine myself because the most they would pay for was a refurb, which I was okay with then I would pay the bill. But I kept telling him a refurb is only 90-day warranty versus the three-year warranty for a full one. So, I paid the difference.
Protect My Car changed their company name three times over the six years that I was with them. I figured that they did that was because I started doing Better Business Bureau searches and there were so many people complaining that they were changing their names only because they had bad reputation. It was a year and a half of not a good time but since then, they have done better.

Thank you for those comments. We do have thousands of contract holders and we do have to treat all of them the same. We never suspected that you were less than honest about the modifications to your vehicle. When you were initially asked about modifications (that helps us choose the right coverage for your vehicle) and did not tell us about the wheel modifications, it meant that the coverage could not assist you the way it was designed to do. We were able to change you coverage to the plan that was able to help you.

The next day, I was informed that my claim was approved, and that gave me a sigh of relief that at least they were applying common sense and things were moving in the right direction. They asked for my 50% deductible payment and I completed it. Two days later, PMC hadn’t paid the dealership, and my car wasn’t released, so I called claims to find out what was the source of the hold up. The rep told me that they were only paying for $335 worth of repairs. I asked them when I would receive the difference of the $1,200 that I paid and was told that I wouldn’t receive one.
The total cost of repairs was $2,490, so $1,500 was what they would cover, INCLUDING the $1,200 I had already paid them. I asked how they considered $300 above my deductible, plus another $1,000 could be considered a 50% deductible per the contract, but was told how I hadn’t gone about processing my claim correctly. ask you to call us BEFORE you authorize the shop to charge you the higher amount. I find it very irritating. But the reps from Protect My Car were great. They were very polite, very helpful, and they returned calls fairly quickly. I got a service contract from Protect My Car for my son's car. It is an older vehicle, and it had a lot of miles on it. My son went off to college, and I wanted to make sure he was covered if anything happened. Last summer, the engine died and we had to have it replaced. The process was a little daunting to get it replaced. In fact, it's back in the shop but the shop is not going through Protect My Car to get help with payment with the garage. The shop had to go back and forth with them because the vehicle ended up being a diamond amongst all the other gems. It's one of four that was made in a particular month. Had it been the end of the year, it would have been one of the many kind of engines that they could get for this car, and that wasn't the case. It was a very particular engine that had to be put into it. As far as Protect My Car's customer service, they were knowledgeable. Everything worked out.

Protect My Car was offered to me and I needed a warranty, so I took it. However, it didn't compare well to the auto warranty that came with the car from the dealership that I had prior. I had to contact Protect My Car and have them contact the transmission shop. Once they got them, everything worked out then I paid my deductible. I decided to cancel my policy with them because of the price, though.

Thank you for your comments. We are glad the coverage helped you, even though your budget forced you to discontinue the coverage. As vehicles age and get more miles, coverage is very hard to come by. Initially, I talked to a few companies but Protect My Car had answers. It was just a better experience. It was easier to do business with them so I went with them and the person I dealt with was very knowledgeable. He was very helpful in helping me weigh the pros and cons. Plus it wasn’t a high-pressure type of sale. It was more of a relaxed conversation. He just presented the value of what we were discussing.
My vehicle is in really good shape. However, it was 13 years old when I got the warranty a year ago and I thought it was a wise thing to do. Things happen and as a matter of fact, within a year, something did happen. And the claims process was very simple. I pretty much put the repair shop in contact with Protect My Car and they worked through all the details. I had a major thing done to my car and it was painless and easy. Also, as part of that offer, there were some free oil changes. I anticipated those to be somewhat problematic. Not much is for free these days. However, it was really easy. I gave the shop the number. They called and got paid.
The customer service team was also very easy to deal with and I would recommend the company. But Protect My Car has to make it easy for the client to spend money. This is something that every business, no matter what type of business, should really consider though. They shouldn't run clients through the mill. If someone wants to spend money, they have to do everything they can to make it easy and make it a pleasant experience. I’m in customer service and that’s what I preach to my staff. I also wish the coverage was greater but 50% on a 13-year old car is pretty good. The cost is also fair and the quality of the services they've provided, to date, has been very good. So the coverage was a good investment on my part.

Please let us know what you feel would be a more convenient method of payment and we will do all we can to accommodate you.

We have high-end cars, and Protect My Car was affordable for us. Twice, I’ve taken a different car under their protection and they don’t treat us fairly. I called them with a complaint and wanted to ask questions, and they blew me off, hurried up and got off the phone. One time, I took my wife's car in and I almost had to cuss them up because we sent the car all the way to North Hollywood. The people called in and gave them the pricing, and they denied it. I had to go all the way back to North Hollywood, get the car and bring it all the way back to Lake Elsinore which is almost a two-hour drive, one way.
A couple of months ago, I took my car in to have it serviced and they denied the service. The auto store quoted them a price, so we paid half of that quoted price. Protect My Car negotiated with the auto parts store and got them to make the price lower. When they did that, we still had to pay the first negotiated price. So, they ended up paying lower, and we ended up paying more. They didn't even pay for the headlight, and I was livid. I had to pay for the headlight. Another time, we asked for a rental car and they got real busy, and then they didn’t wanna give us the car. I’ve had this service almost three years, and my wife has had it almost two because I recommended her to obtain the service. I kick myself in the butt for recommending, and that’s because of the way that they treat her and myself.

Please call anytime you have a question as to what is covered under your contract, or simply read the contract. It explains Headlights, tires and non-mechanical components are not covered.
We are glad that on the four claims you have filed you have already saved over $2,100.00. That's more than double what you paid for the coverage.
That's how good coverage should work.
Remember, too, that the guarantee is to save you 50% of your shops estimate. We do that by reducing parts and labor costs and paying the balance in cash. That's why you only paid 50% of the original estimate.

I didn’t wanna be paying the full amount of service on a vehicle that was old and past warranty and Protect My Car offered me the best deal for what I was paying. I haven’t had any problems with the company, except for recently, I was kinda disappointed that they wanted the 50% deductible. It would be for the repairs that were done delivered to them versus to the dealer that I was working with. Previously, I paid the dealer his 50%, then he collected his 50% from Protect My Car. They changed the parameter of what they wanted to do and they ended up putting a new motor in the car, which I didn’t have a problem with. The problem is they gave more information to the service dealer than they did to me, and the information they gave to the service dealer was different than what they gave me. And in turn, they were charging me 50% of the initial cost.
When they did the deal with the service dealer, with the new motor, it was about a $500 difference that I could have saved that they got extra. In numbers, the deal would have been $2,800 for them to do the heads and fix everything that needed to be done. I would have paid 1,400 and they paid 1,400, but because they came up with the idea of putting a new motor in, they only paid 900 for the motor, instead of 1,400. The $500 should’ve come back to me and when I asked them about it, they gave me a wishy-washy answer but never really the answer that I wanted. I didn’t wanna get my dealer in trouble with them, but in turn, they should have given me the $500 back or a credit.
I’m happy with getting a new motor and everything came out good. My mechanic did a good job, but I should’ve gotten my $500 back and I was a little disappointed in that. I know what scam they pulled on me and I won’t recommend them. I’ll keep them as long as I got the car until I hit my max mileage, but if I ever do that on another vehicle, it won’t be with them only because they cheated me out of 500 bucks. Overall, they did everything that they were gonna do in a timely manner, but it took them a long time to get that motor in. They had to come back with a different vehicle, so it was delayed by about five days.

Your coverage guarantees that you pay only 50% of the estimate prepared by the shop you choose to use. We do that by reducing parts and labor costs and paying the balance in cash. That's why you only paid 50% of the original estimate. You have already saved over $2,000 on just the first three claims (which is more than twice what the coverage has cost). That's hardly a scam. Before dropping the coverage, think about how much you would have had to pay without the coverage.

I needed to take care of some repairs on my vehicle and I didn’t feel that I needed to pay the full price, especially when I first purchased the vehicle and within three months, I had to rebuild my transmission. I shopped around and found Protect My Car. There are other programs out there that might be a little bit better, but I already hooked up with them. And even though I looked around a little bit, I went for the first thing I found because I was in a hurry to get my vehicle fixed.
The only problem I had is that not too many shops accept their program. It’s also a little pricey for the monthly on certain things that I can’t get done. I’d still have to pay almost two grands a year. When I take it in to get work done, I have to pay half so I would think that part of that money would go towards the payment for the repair. But the quality of the service is good. They’re quick at responding when I take my car in to get the work done and paying things. I’m a mechanic myself so I know more or less how things work. Protect My Car is a good program.

Protect My Car could make it a quicker process with all the technology we have these days. The whole payment system can be improved. They have you call one person, and that person has to transfer you to another person. So, it’s like the big loop around. You pay for this convenience and it’s not even convenient. My warranty ran out and I got Protect My Car because of their price and their coverage. My interaction with their sales rep was great. He was informative, told me what I needed to know and convinced me to buy their product. They let me know all the things that were covered, and that's exactly what I needed to suit my particular year, make, and model of my vehicle. And it was better than the other that I had because I got the highest level of protection that I could from my year and the mileage. So I was all in.
Purchasing the protection was great. I had a claim and it was about four things that the mechanic found that needed servicing, and Protect My Car took care of the claim. It was a bit of a struggle but it worked out in the end. The only problem that I had was when it was time for the claim. They kept giving the mechanic trouble. They kept sending inspectors out so I wound up having my rental for about 10 days. It was about $400 for my rental but they only covered $100 of it. Nonetheless, the quality of their service was great. I feel comforted. Since I started using Protect My Car plan, I definitely feel more secure knowing that my car is covered at the end of the day.

I needed protection based on the history of my vehicle and Protect My Car had the lowest price. Purchasing the protection plan was fairly simple. I gave them the VIN number, they gave me the pricing based on the number of years I wanted to have the warranty and that was it. They helped me understand the pricing and the restrictions of the warranty.
I have already filed a claim for a transmission replacement and another for a routine oil change but that wasn't the most fun. They explained to me some of the restrictions on the warranty and what would be covered and what wouldn't. They made claims that certain things in my car weren't factory when they were. We had a bit of a discrepancy between the status of my car and what they said but they gave a remediation plan which I accepted, so we moved forward. Notwithstanding the modifications issues, the coverage has been good. I feel more reassured that I don't have to fix everything myself. If you're not mechanically inclined, Protect My Car comes in pretty handy. Just be mindful of what you think you may get claims paid for.

I spoke with their rep on the phone when I had to give them a credit card. So every month, they automatically take the payment from the credit card. It's $90.06. It's for five years, and there are 18 months where I don't have to pay. I filed a claim on the 29th of December last year and they paid 50% of it. The process was good. When I called in, they gave me everything that would be covered under the warranty, and I dealt with a foreign auto body that dealt with the car. Overall, Protect My Car's service was good and I had a good experience.
