How does Empire Auto Protect work?

Empire Auto Protect quotes are available online or by phone with a representative. To receive a quote, you’ll need to provide the year, make and model of your vehicle as well as its mileage and your contact information.

Once you’ve selected your vehicle service plan, there is a 30-day waiting period for coverage to take effect. During this time, you can receive your money back if you decide to cancel. RUN! Not worth the hassle or your sanity. I was a customer for over a year, once I needed to get my AC fixed, all went downhill. The shop held my car longer because the warranty denied claim, attempted to tell the shop what was needed and was wrong, had no idea...After two days of the shop almost begging them to pay for the part that was needed, they again denied my claim, stating my mileage rolled back... after further investigation from me and the shop, that was not the case...anyhow Empire promised to pay me all my payments within 30 days and to contact customer service for further details, this is where it got unprofessional and immature.

There are about 2-3 young ignorant ** males answering the phones who transfer you round and round, make up names and change their voice, all are rude and not helpful. Passing gas on the phone, burping, hanging up, telling me no manager available- no matter what time you call, it's always a negative time consuming call with no results. One guy made up information, and when I called him out, he transferred me to someone who yelled at me for asking for management. They kept telling me they were the contractor and the administrator handles this. When calling the admin, of course they stated the same thing so I was in this chaos tornado for almost 2 months.

I had to call the BBB and make a complaint to get my funds, we are talking over $1,800, not pennies. I wrote emails, called every number listed, and NO resolve until I gave up and was going to pursue legal charges per my lawyer. The same day I went to file a claim I recieved my money, over 2 months and many exhausting correspondences later. Everyone was so kind and helpful when I signed up, however, a lot of my info on the policy was entered incorrectly such as my name and phone number. My VIN number was the only thing that saved me to find the policy in the first place. They have a high turnover because none of the people were working any longer when I needed them.

The caveat they have a deal pay 1 year and get 1 year free, but the joke is they will never pay out, they cancel your policy if they don't pay out for a warranty issue then you spend more time and money fighting for your moeny back, only to be in the same position after all that time and effort with no AC, the componenet was $2300, I paid over $1800, do the math and see the differnce of $500 which they hold your moeny and gain interest while you get nothing, even waiting 2 months for my money they received interest on it, but not me.

This place is a scam; use at your own risk. The positive reviews are fake because their real rating is less than 1% on Consumer Affairs and they have had many complaints with the BBB. Whatever you decide to do, do your research; I wish I had. I don't even write reviews but this experience takes the cake. This arrogant ** boy had the nerve to fart on the phone, laugh and hang up- you can't make this stuff up. These folks are crooks in suits, and smiles on dials but when it's time to pay out or refund, you are treated very inhumanely.

If I could give a -5, I would. The customer service above everything else was trash and the WORST experience I ever had and when making a complaint they act as if it is normal and there is no lead, manager, or corporate and when you attempt to call those numbers or email there is no response. The only real reason I believe they gave my money is because I had proof from a letter and email from the offices of my refund. This company, located in India, will not last long. Excuse my typos, writing fast and with strong animosity.

STAY AWAY! THIS IS A COMPLETELY FRAUDULENT BUSINESS AND THEY BUY THEIR GOOGLE REVIEWS!! I purchased a policy for my McLaren 570S and got the top tier that they offered. It specifically covers leaking seals "on a standalone basis." My main rear seal began leaking and they denied my claim. I spoke to the "claims manager" and asked him if he could please reference the contract and explain his rationale for denial. He was extremely rude and then put me on hold and came back and said that even though it's covered under my policy they weren't going to pay it and to "do whatever you wanna do."

I filed a complaint with the BBB and they gave me a ChatGPT response (they literally forgot to take out the ChatGPT explanation at the bottom, which is how I know.) I'm now working with the Attorney General Offices in two states which are investigating them. They clearly rely on people not being wealthy enough to litigate. Fortunately, I don't have that issue and even though its likely not worth it, I have the money so I've instructed my attorney to go ahead and file suit and we are going after Consumer Fraud punitive damages. I can't wait for discovery!

      Reviewed July 13, 2026

I purchased a vehicle service contract in October 2024 for my 2016 Acura MDX and made my monthly payments. By June 2026, I had paid approximately $2,400 toward the contract and only had about $480 remaining on my payment plan. My June 23, 2026 payment failed because my debit card had been lost/stolen and I was waiting for a replacement card. On June 25, the company contacted me to advise that my payment had not gone through. I immediately explained what happened.

On July 1, while I was still waiting for my replacement debit card, I texted the company my checking account routing number and account number so they could process my payment. During our text conversations, no one ever told me that payment by checking account was not accepted. They never attempted to withdraw the payment from my bank account. They never called me, emailed me, or texted me to tell me that my checking account information could not be used. Manager James later told me they have a 10-day grace period and that I needed to pay my bills on time.

Once I received my replacement debit card, I immediately called and made my payment. The company accepted my payment. At no point during that call was I told that:
My original contract had been cancelled,
      I was purchasing a brand-new contract,
I would receive a new policy number,
A new effective date would apply,
A new waiting period would begin,

Or that I was agreeing to a completely different contract.

I believed I was simply bringing my existing policy current. Later, my vehicle experienced a mechanical problem. I had it towed to a repair facility, paid for diagnostics, rented a vehicle, and expected my warranty coverage to apply. Instead, I was told I had no coverage because my "policy had just started." When I checked my account, I discovered what appeared to be an entirely new policy with a new policy number, a new effective date, and a new payment schedule. I do not recall authorizing a new contract. I also requested copies of both my original contract and the alleged new contract. I was told the original contract "doesn't exist anymore" and that I would receive the new contract by mail. As of this review, I still have not received it. I also cannot access the policy through the company's app.

As a result, I have had to pay out of pocket for towing, vehicle diagnostics, and a rental vehicle, and I am now facing repair costs that I believed were covered under my original contract. I have requested the call recordings, account records, payment history, and documentation showing when and how my original contract was cancelled and how a new contract was allegedly created. I have also filed, or am in the process of filing, a complaint with the New York State Department of Financial Services.

My advice to anyone considering this company is to keep copies of every payment, every text message, and every email, and to request written confirmation of any changes to your policy. If you experience a payment issue, do not assume that making the missed payment will simply continue your existing coverage.

He pushed a "bumper-to-bumper" policy for $1,864 but absolutely refused to email me a written contract or a secure payment link. This warranty company is a complete scam. They advertise coverage and make it seem like they’ll help when you need repairs, but once it’s time to use the policy, they hit you with hidden rules and fine-print policies that were never clearly explained upfront. I paid for this warranty expecting protection, but when I needed assistance, they denied my claim because I had driven my car over 1,000 miles. That makes absolutely no sense. What’s the point of paying for a vehicle warranty if you can’t actually use it after driving your car? Cars are meant to be driven.

I ended up paying for the repairs out of my own pocket despite faithfully paying for the warranty. It feels like this company looks for any excuse possible to avoid honoring claims. Save your money and stay far away from this company. Their coverage is misleading, their policies are full of loopholes, and their customer service was no help at all. I had asked for a refund of my money that I paid into the warranty because they weren't going to cover it due to a branded title. (Mind you, I gave them the VIN off of my vehicle so they could check it.)

I paid 15th months of payments totaling well over 2000. I got the platinum coverage, just in case. The man child on the phone told me that I cannot get a refund, because I didn't tell them about the branded title on my car. I called the company who I was making payments to, they proceeded to tell me that Empire Auto Protect has to send a refund request email for them to process the refund. So, man child lied about the refund. I call him back to tell him this new information that I got. He continues to tell me that it's my fault and there's no getting through him to a manager, he continues with his terrible customer service, then all huffy and puffy, says he'll send the email and see what he can do. I tell him I will call the other company to make sure the email was sent. I bet he won't send that email, I bet he blocks my number, I bet I won't get the refund that should be issued.

I was told I was getting transferred from my Mercedes to my dodge. Come to find out it’s not the same company my vehicle was warranty lied with. They lied and enrolled me into a policy and refuse to refund me. They told me 99 was a transfer free and then sent a letter 157 is being deducted from my account. When I called back, they said, "Oh don’t worry. We transferred the Mercedes to your Dodge warranty coverage. We’re just waiting to update it." Nothing should Again, they went ahead and stole money from my account.

During the call, I was repeatedly told that I was being transferred to another department. After several transfers, another representative answered. I requested to speak with a manager and was informed that no manager would be available until Monday. His speech was slurred and erratic, and it sounded like he was on drugs.

At that point, I told my husband, “Wow, we’re getting scammed.” The representative then mockingly repeated, “Wow, we’re getting scammed,” and proceeded to use vulgar and inappropriate language toward both my husband and me. He became verbally aggressive, called me offensive names, and continued cursing at us over the phone.

The representative then read our home address aloud and threatened to come to our home, stating that he lived nearby on the a road near by our house and would “handle this” when he got out of work. This behavior was extremely alarming and completely unacceptable. We immediately contacted the police and filed a report regarding the threats and harassment. The police report number is **.

We have four children, and the entire conversation occurred on speakerphone. Our children overheard the threats and are now fearful for their safety. I am deeply concerned that a company representative would behave in such an abusive, threatening, and unprofessional manner toward customers. I would like this matter investigated immediately, including a review of the recorded phone call, and I expect prompt action regarding both the unauthorized charges and the threatening conduct of your employee.

Spoke to a manager by the name of Richard. He said he was looking into it. We’re praying to god this individual was fired. As this is a extreme safety concern, and also the other issues was looking into why money was stolen from us, etc. we’re also filing a police report for fraud as I addressed this to the manager, but he didn’t say anything about refunding us. He just needed it. Can we afford a policy? Is that no because we were told that it was transferred and lied to etc. Why would I ask for a policy when I pay 3500 dollars. Anyways Select Auto Protect told me that they continue to have this happen to their customers from Empire auto protect where they scam them. It's a loss at this point, but the rudest customer service rep was Brian. He should not be working with customers.

So. When I purchased my contract I specifically asked if my hybrid truck battery would be covered, the salesman said yes multiple times. Well when I purchased the contract they sent a sample contract showing what mine would look like. Obviously it was missing my name on the paperwork. Well I called them back a couple of days later and spoke to someone on the phone who said yes multiple times that my hybrid battery would be covered. A few weeks go by and I once again call and ask if my hybrid battery is covered and once again the company said yes. I have both conversations recorded.

This company lies and provides false information to buyers. I’ve had my contract for almost a whole year and they’re trying to say I’m at fault for not reading the contract. Um hello…. Once I realized the contract didn’t have the hybrid battery listed, I called them and they reassured me that it was covered. Absolutely horrible company. They should be sued and shut down!!! They are stealing money from citizens!!

TERRIBLE HORRIBLE RUDE OBSCENE PEOPLE THAT WORK HERE. Not only would they not let me cancel my policy the first day I got it, but they also told me to call my credit card and stop payment. I called at least 4 times to make sure it was cancelled and I was ridiculed and laughed at. I reported them to their own billing company as well. I have continued to get texts from them, even though i say no and block them. Last Tuesday I called and asked them to stop! They hung up on me twice, pretended "stupid" and when I ask for a supervisor, he told me to "KNEEL DOWN ON THE GROUND"... REPEATED IT..."Kneel down on the ground and lick your phone". I HUNG UP. I tried to call back and report him to management, but my phone was blocked. Then they were closed. TERRIBLE. Awful company. Nothing I was originally told when I signed up was true. They lie.

Everyone was really nice until I had to file a claim. I then realized that I'd been lied to, on the phone they called my plan Platinum (sounds better) but then they send me the policy and it says Royal Repair. See their website screenshot, that is not even on their list. Immediately I called to ask about this and they explained that it was the same thing. Supposedly, it covered a whole list of issues besides Power Train, including ABS issues and key replacement (see photo). That was 6 months ago. However, as soon as I had a problem it only covered the Power Train, because "it's not our fault that you vehicle is 20 years old, it's time to get another car!" He kept mocking me, saying, " Your call is 40 years old, your car is 65 years old." I'm not even kidding you. Like a child. I said I want to cancel and he said why. I said I don't have to tell you why. He goes, "How do you know, do you work for this company?"

He was rude and unprofessional and when I asked his name he said it's Adelaide (my name). Cute. He was the rudest, most mocking person I ever encountered in customer service. I complained to the company, let's see what they do since the calls are supposed to be recorded. This was my email to them: I just got off the phone with your customer service about a claim I was filing and I had the rudest person on the phone. He was extremely unprofessional, lied several times, and kept saying offensive things to me. Please listen to the recording, you will get what I'm saying. Furthermore, I see Empire is not honoring what our contract says, if I'm to believe what this man who called himself "Richard" said to me. Please get back to me asap, preferably with a better-trained rep. Let's see what happens.

I did not get a copy of the agreement until two weeks after they started taking payments out of my account . I have never been ask for the title from any other Warranty Company. It's a fraud.

Oh your vehicle wasn’t eligible for that. Mind you I was told that with 84,000 I qualified for supposedly there best offering plan. Then not only were they rude disrespectful and THREATENING. I spoke with one nice guy who helped me and said he would give me a refund. As I didn’t sign up for a comprehensive plan. Well I never was able to speak to that particular person again. They said you’re not a customer and we don’t transfer non customers. But when they were calling me continuously daily. Trying to get me to sign up it was a different story! Please shut this company down…don’t not sign up as they don’t pay out claims!

I was bambozzled by these guys who are middlemen. They sold me a plan that was 24 months. Found reasons not to pay. They were one of the only that covered high end cars so when they called to extend I did because some was better than none. 6 months in I had a claim and they denied it saying my car was ineligible for coverage. I asked how and I was covered the entire time before. He said he sold me a new policy with exclusions the other one didn’t have. I said I didn’t agree. He said, "We signed your name to the new form to push it through." I said I wanted a refund. He said no and hung up.

When I contacted the company, I was told that the warranty would fully cover the power train and other major components at 100%. However, when received the policy, it clearly states 40% up to $2,500. In addition, I was told there was a one-hundred percent refund if canceled within thirty days. I called to clarify and was told that it the forty percent was for other maintenance, contrary to the verbiage. I called another warranty company and received the proper coverage. Thus, I attempted to cancel the alleged warranty from Empire Auto Protect and was told that the cancelation department opened at 10 CST. At 10 CST, I again called and was told the Cancelation Department queue was full and I would get a callback. I waited three hours and called back when the no call was made to me.

When I called, the customer representative told me that I could not cancel because I was dissatisfied with the product that was not what I was sold (bait-and-awitch). He stated that was not a good enough reason. When I asked him if customer satisfaction was not a good reason, then what was? He stated he didn't like my attitude and hung up.

I called my financial institution to stop all future payments and dispute the last payment that was made. I then again called Empire to attempt canceling the warranty. The customer service representative asked me why and I told him it was already covered under another policy. He asked who and I replied Endurance. He lied and told me they were the same company. He stated that he would recommend that I should keep my Empire policy and he would cancel the more expensive Endurance policy. He also informed me that I had home coverage and that was due today. However, I never agreed to any such coverage. After getting nowhere with that rep, I received notice from my bank that Empire attempted a charge of $104.04, but it was blocked by the stop payment order. Empire is guilty of bait-and-switch, fraud, and deceptive business practices.

When my vehicle started having serious engine issues, I was honestly stressed about the potential cost. After filing my claim, their team walked me through the entire process clearly and professionally. The claims department was responsive, communicated directly with my repair shop, and handled the inspection quickly. Once the issue was verified, my engine repair was approved without unnecessary delays. They covered exactly what my contract stated, and there were no surprise complications.

What really stood out to me was how smooth and straightforward everything felt during a stressful situation. Engine repairs aren’t cheap, and having coverage that actually comes through makes a huge difference. I’m very satisfied with how Empire Auto Protect handled my claim and would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for reliable vehicle protection.

I stopped my payment on Sunday 5.54 pm evening, and my credit card put a block to stop the payment and it went through, how can that happen. Empire changed finance companies without notifying customers they were a new company taking over payments and when I asked for their contact is customer rep told me no and hung up on me. They are stealing from me. I’m cancelling my subscription and they are still charging me for a service I cancelled. I had been a customer with Empire, had no kind of issues with them, until I told them I was cancelling my subscription, they got so upset. I called them 4 to 5 times today, and I was recording my conversation; they were so unprofessional. SANTANDER Finance is the new bank that took the payment.

I recently purchase a Service Contract with Empire Auto Protect. The rep was very nice & professional. However, he did NOT give me the full picture of how the contract works, and I asked lots of questions. I called my local dealership (after signing up), and they gave me the real deal. You're basically buying a discount... most likely 40% (they pay) and you pay the remaining 60%. Oh, and there's a $2,500 cap per year. If the Empire rep would have told me that upfront, or marketed that from the beginning, I may have kept the service. But it was shady from the time I made the initial down payment. I just cancelled the contract... which is not an easy one-time call (again, shady!). We'll see if they refund me as promised, or if I have to escalate the matter.
