    Experience was good while buying the car.....but driving home the car would not accelerate and the engine light came on. Car had to go into the shop to be repaired. I haven't had the car for 24 hours. Kind of disappointed. The in take line had to be replaced. Made an 8 am appointment and still don't have my car back. Good chance I will have to miss work.

    I feel like Gabrielle listened to me and did not waste a lot of time trying to talk me into things I was not interested in.     I brought a 2018 Hyundai Tucson on May 5, 2024 from Drive Time in New Castle, DE. When I drove it off the lot, I noticed the car would not accelerate to the speed it should have been going. I took the car back the very next day, on May 6th. Advised the sales Rep (Charles **) of the problem, he says “Do you want to purchase another car?” No, I want Drive Time to fix this one before selling it to someone. He advised me that they could not fix the car, to take it to Fire Stone in New Castle, and gave me the number to Silver Rock Warranty.

    My car was sitting at Fire Stone for approximately 2 weeks before letting me know that the car needed breaks, rotors, a catalytic converter, and O2 sensor. I was advised that Fire Stone could replace the brakes and rotors, but the car needed to be towed to the nearest Hyundai dealer to have the catalytic converter taken care of. My car has been sitting at Hyundai for 2 1/2 weeks now and I am now being told that Silver Rock is not willing to cover the catalytic converter. A manager from Hyundai dealership stated the converter wasn’t covered under the Hyundai warranty either.

    I have yet to drive and enjoy my car but I’ve been making biweekly payments on this car since the beginning of June! I advised Charles ** that I was going to have the car towed back to Drive Time to return it BEFORE the 30 days. He stated that I could not return the car after 5 days. Even though l advised him and his manager that the car has been in the shop with the same consistent problem it’s has since I drove it off the lot. The manager’s exact words were, “It’s past the 5-day return policy, it’s in your contract and you have to keep it.” No remorse, no apology, no solution to fix the proble, they clearly knew was wrong with the car in the beginning. Left me with a car I can’t drive and take my money! Called customer care, she said to keep making the payments or they will report it to my credit! This is what Drive Time is doing to innocent customers!

    I bought a car back in 2018 and when I almost had it paid off down to owing 1000 dollars on it, it was stolen and after taking care of it thru my insurance. I went back to Drive Time hoping out of good standards I get a really good deal and second time around. The sales lady was really nice Natalie. I got the car 2019 nissan 71000 miles on it. $16,600.00 with interest rate so high the total came out to be $42,000.00. Not to mention the payments were higher than the 1st car. I drove it to work engine light came on 1st day "reality check". I felt so disrespected. I took the car back with in 24 hours. I will never look back at Drive Time again. I must have been out my mind to even walk out of there with a deal like that. Thank goodness I realized that was not a good finance decision.

    I started with Joe who turned in paperwork to get started. By time I got there every sales person was busy and I and a few others had to wait. As with any auto sales it’s a process to get to the car and drive then the overload of paperwork must be done. I got an older vehicle in well kept condition that has been a fleet car. Yes it has a recall which these sales don’t address but it very easy to fix at the dealership. I dealt with Tony yesterday and he did his best to get all the paperwork done as soon as possible. Thankfully there was a grocery store close by cause it’s a time consuming process. I came home in my car with groceries for dinner and very happy with my purchase.

    I just can’t believe the price of cars nowadays. So y'all go to Drivetime and see Tony and get your deal. They do have some nice vehicles available. Best of luck in your auto hunt but try DriveTime and give them a chance. There is a thorough checklist that is completed with the customer on the car before you pay and sign paperwork which is very good when buying a used vehicle. Thanks Drivetime!!

    I bought a car in Mobile, AL at DriveTime. This is the 3rd day I had the car and I realized it had maggots under the seat. After I called them and explained everything they told me it was nothing they could do for me because I was over the 300 mile limit. I live in Andalusia, AL so as soon as I bought the car I passed 300 miles the first day just for me to get home after the purchase. So now they have stuck me with a car that has maggots under the seat and won’t help me or let me trade it in. This was by far the worst place ever to buy a car!!! And to let it be known they knew it had maggots in it because they told us they power washed the trunk…. Who power washes a trunk and what was back there for you to have to wash it that heavy… Just for me to get home and they say they can’t do anything!!

    Although I bought a vehicle, I am not satisfied with my experience. I chose a 2016 Ford Explorer but discovered a chip in the windshield. The salesperson explained they would have it looked at and would call me when it was time to pick it up. She never explained that I was on a special 2% discount on my APR. When I was called 4 days later to pick up the vehicle, that incentive was removed and the payment went up by almost $40. It was DriveTime's responsibility to ensure the vehicle was ready to be sold and therefore should have provided the discounted APR instead of trying to pull a fast one.

    I purchased a 2016 Taurus for less money with a higher APR but still had a smaller payment. This was only done because I absolutely needed a car. You should honor the original incentive so I was able to purchase the vehicle I wanted. This same thing was done to a friend of mine that purchased a car a few days before. You had his car in the shop for almost month and did not honor the discounted APR that was given. I could understand doing this if either of us were still trying to decide on buying BUT, we both said yes and both vehicles had to go in for repairs. This is bad business and you should find a way to honor what you originally promised.

    I normally use a credit union and get pre-approved before go to a dealership to buying a car. This was different, I got pre-approved with drivetime online by just putting in my info. Then, I looked and found a couple of vehicles I liked. Found and reviewed the free car fax offered on the site for each one and made my choice. Set an appointment to see and test drive. The next day I arrived, my husband and I was greeted and meet with Rodney my salesman (Nice guy). After 4hrs, we had testing driving, checking vehicle and features, verifying bank and employment, signing papers and watching a couple of videos, we were all good to go.

    They also have a points system to take off APR%? That was cool, my interest rate we down with the points thing, not sure how it works but glad it did! I read a lot of bad reviews and saw people coming in complaining. Apparently, couple of people got in accidents after buying a car and opted out of any extended coverage. That sucks. If you look for bad, you gonna find it. I gave it a chance and glad I did. I rarely give anything 5 stars but this was better than any other car buying experience. Oh yeah did I mentioned I had no money down!

    Hey I bought a 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe. I was very satisfied with the vehicle until I started having knock sensor problems. I only had this SUV for 5 months. Now I am having every issue. The battery went out, then the knock sensor. I replaced knock sensor and it went back out. I am truly trying to get help with my vehicle. I am truly at my wits' end. Now have to go the Hyundai dealer in two weeks and if they keep my vehicle that more money out of pocket plus the bi weekly note which is unfair to me.

    Updated on 06/06/2024: If I can help someone from getting a lemon from DriveTime Memphis I am. Update on my vehicle the engine is bad and Kia told me that I have paperwork showing that it needs to be replaced. Now my car is not driveable from the last review I put on here. This company does not do right by their customers. I’ve only had this car 3 months now and I have no transportation due to the Kia needing a new engine. Not to mention it’s a 2022 Kia with less than 50k miles with a junkyard engine in it not the original engine. So yes I now have engine failure.

    The engine isn’t covered under the factory warranty with Kia because Drivetime has a junkyard motor in the car. If it was the original I would’ve been able to get it fix. That Kia has a factory warranty up to 100k miles guess what doesn’t apply to me because Drivetime not having the original engine in the vehicle. You guys the whole engine is shaking under the hood uncontrollably. Beware of this company. I’m suffering. I have no way back and forth to work and losing wages from this. I will be finding a lawyer. I refuse to let them get away with this.

    Original review: I purchased a vehicle from Memphis location January of 2024. Today 3 months later I find out from Kia that I need a new engine and on top of that I don’t have the correct engine in my truck. I'm disappointed that no one consulted this with me and even put a used engine in a 2022 that’s under 50k miles that’s still under warranty. Don’t understand why DriveTime would put a used motor in my Kia knowing it’s still under factory warranty. I have a truck with an engine will go out any day. I’ve already been experiencing issues with the truck. This is bad business.

    Well let me tell you about my experience with Drivetime. You know this thing they have on TV about making the deal before you buy. Well that a lie. I made the deal, had my car picked out, and When it came time to sign the car was 100.00 more and the interest was almost 30%. After getting the car home to really look at it, you could see the different between the driver side and the passenger side. The driver side had been in a wreck.

    There was no rubber around the doors and there was a couple of dents in both doors on the driver side. In reading the book that came with the car it says that I'm suppose to have a push button ignition. NOT. I have a key. I have no spare tire. I have fix a flat instead. The book is for a 2015 Jeep Cherokee sport. I'm sure I will find more things not right with the jeep. The dealership wants me to call the warranty place to get the repairs done. If Drivetime would inspect the cars and not rely on paperwork solely they might see a lot of these defects before they try and sell they cars, trucks.

    I asked the sales person about service work done and was told it was fully serviced when they bought the car. It’s low on all fluids and all fluids are old. So first lie. Then I was shown that the car had one recall and it was minor. I wasn’t able to insure the car because of the 4 recalls for the car. Including a safety decal to prevent theft.     I went in thinking I would get a car and what I ended up with is the worst vehicle I've ever had in my life, even my mechanic says I was sold a piece of crap. I have had this car a little over 2 years and it's been in and out of the shop the whole time. The turbo, engine, and now transmission needs to be replaced and the warranty company doesn't cover anything unless you pester them for weeks. My advice is don't buy a car unless you get it checked by a certified mechanic first. No help or remorse from Drivetime either, scam artists if you ask me.

    If I purchase a new car the least I should get is a full tank and a clean car. I pulled off the lot with a car payment. $500. $20000 financed and this company so cheap you can't hire someone to get the bugs off the car. When I asked for gas they act like they never heard that question. This is my second time with Drive time but my last. It is nothing like my purchase experience about 7 years ago.     On Thursday, May 2, 2024 I went to the Drive Time lot on Cassat Ave. in Jacksonville, FL. I had an appointment for 3:00 PM but got there about ten minutes early. I was greeted by everyone at the location and was introduced to my sales person, Allan **. We went over to his desk and started the process of determining what I could get with my guidelines of no more than 500.00 per month and 500.00 down. Alan did his "Magic" and came back with a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan, that I had actually looked at online the day before, talk about Karma!

    I took the vehicle for a spin and liked it very much. Then we talked about the numbers, Alan told me that with 0 down and for 610.00 per month I could get it. I explained I just could not afford that and reminded him about my 500 payment limit. He then suggested if we worked the numbers with a down payment we could see. He also told me that the price included the extended warranty, the gap coverage, and one other optional service. So we ran the numbers with only the extended warranty and 300 down. It came back at 572, but knowing that it included the extended warranty and gap coverage, both of which I had planned to buy anyway, I decided this was in my budget.

    Then came the trouble. It had absolutely NOTHING to do with Alan or Drive Time, it took me four hours to get insurance. I was getting so much run around and craziness from the main insurers, but, Alan to the rescue. He put me in touch with a low rate insurance company in Orlando, and within 45 minutes I had insurance for a lower down payment and lower monthly fee. Alan ** is the MAN!! I will not hesitate to tell anyone I know looking for a good used vehicle to go visit Alan at Drive Time.

    My experience with Drivetime has been nothing short of a nightmare. When we initially purchased a vehicle, they approved us for one model, only to switch it last minute for a different year with any explanation of, "We sorry. We can only approve this one." To make matters worse, the vehicle hadn’t even undergone a basic inspection, as evidenced by the lack of an oil change.

    Within the first month of ownership, we faced multiple costly repairs, all out of our own pocket despite purchasing their warranty. We even had to replace the entire engine within the first year of owning the vehicle, costing us thousands of dollars. Every time we reached out for help, they deflected blame onto us, making us feel like it was our fault for expecting a reliable vehicle. Even now, with the repaired engine showing issues again, they refuse to take responsibility or offer any meaningful assistance. It’s clear they prioritize profit over customer satisfaction, and I urge anyone considering doing business with Drivetime to steer clear and avoid the headaches and financial strain we’ve endured.

    I want to start by saying everyone at Drivetime is not like this. Thank you to the ones that gave great customer service. When I got my first car from Drivetime there was urine in the car from the previous drive (very nasty) and the engine light came on the first day so I took the car back and got my money back. I had to wait 9 days to get my refund because I was not told at check out that I could use credit to make my payment. That was very stressful having to wait that long for my down payment.

    A manager from the Marietta location was able to refund me money after waiting those long 9 days. Went and bought the second car and the passenger side door had to be locked and unlocked manually. So I took the car back because it would have been an hassle trying to get the door fixed so I went back to get another car and while I was trading my car in at the Stone Mountain location the manager come over to me. Her name was Shay and tells me: "This your third car with us right?" I answered yes.

    Shay responded, "If you try to get another car with us the 4th time might be a no and Drivetime might not be for you!!!" I responded, "Yes ma’am." I did not argue with her. I simply said ok. How dare you say that comment to me after everything that I have gone through trying to find the right car for me!!! Shay you are right. Drivetime might not be for me but God had me where I was supposed to be. The level of customer service and empathy for my situation was overlooked … I was given nasty looks and talked about like I didn’t see … so I figured I would leave my comment here.

    Shay you was absolutely wrong for making those statements after everything I have gone through with Drivetime. I hope you all learn what customer services truly is. This has been the most stressful and unpleasant experience with Drivetime. Be careful how you treat people because you never know who you’re entertaining. I hope this review gets to the head person of Drivetime. I truly do not appreciate what Shay said to me after everything I gone through. Ms ** and Desmond. Thank you for the great customer service. You both should be in manager positions with the level of professionalism that you both hold!!! Drivetime please give them a raise. Thank you to everyone that helped me to the best of their abilities. Shay and Alex needs more training.

    Bait and Switch. Beware of this dealership. I applied for financing online and received an "Approved" status (not "Pre-approved") without any mention of being "Subject to" anything. The email instructed me to proceed to pick out my vehicle. I spoke with a salesperson in Madison, TN, over the phone, specifically because of my work situation. I had just started my job this week and had only worked two days for this pay period. I informed him that I didn't have a paystub yet and the one I would receive next Friday would not represent a full pay period. He assured me that this wouldn't be a problem.

    I also mentioned my specific need for a large vehicle such as a van, a full-size SUV, or a full-size station wagon. I explained that I needed this for my new job and did not want to spend more than $10,000. Once again, he assured me that wouldn’t be an issue, saying, "We have several vehicles that meet those requirements. Come on over and take a look." I explained that I was driving over 2 hours and he said he would see me in the afternoon.

    I drove the two hours to the dealership. A different salesperson greeted me and I reiterated my specific needs. He checked on his computer and told me he had a 2019 van that should work. Then he dropped the bombshell, saying the payment would be $320…every two weeks ($640 per month). When I asked him about the price of the van, he told me it was something over $19,000. Once again, I repeated my needs. That's when the manager, Justin **, stepped in and told me that the lowest-priced vehicle on the lot was $12,900. They didn't have any vehicles under $10,000!

    I reminded him of my conversation over the phone. He said they had no record of my call. So, I showed him the 11-minute, 23-second call history logged on my phone to the number on the business card he handed me. I told him that I had driven over 2 hours because of what I was told over the phone, and this was a classic "bait-and-switch" tactic. His response? "I'm sorry." That was his resolution, to feel sorry for me! I then asked him if he was going to compensate me for the over 4 hours I had traveled (I still had to drive home) or at least for the fuel. He replied that he couldn’t do that but he would handle the problem with the salesperson. I'm not sure how he planned to do that because they had no record of my call.

    I left and called the corporate office in Tempe, Arizona, and registered a complaint. Once again, I was told, "I'm sorry about that." (That must be what they are trained to say.) Avoid doing business with this company. They take advantage of people who have credit and employment challenges and are in desperate need of transportation. They expect most people to just accept what they offer without questioning it. They claim on their website that they have cars "Under $10,000." They do not. The customer service person's answer was that the inventory was always changing. The manager told me they didn’t carry vehicles under $10,000. What they did is criminal! Apparently, this is an acceptable practice for this company!

    So I went to get a Truck or SUV. I called several times about my situation and that I could only pay $350 a month and only had a trade in & no money down. I was told no problem. Right. Everyone there was super nice. I appreciate it that BUT after all said & done they wanted to me to pay $375 every 2 weeks. I was never informed that was the way it works. 2 week payments so now I had to drive home with my car and it cost me $50 dollars to get up and back. I was on empty and very pissed off. It's the 3rd time back at a shop, on top of that the vehicle's engine is being replaced and I've been left without a car for 3 weeks already.     If you do buy from Drivetime in huntsville make sure you're at the site. My boyfriend and I went online to get a car. He had it picked out and everything set - payment, down-payment, so forth. This was after hours so we had to go the next day to pick it up. After an hour and 40 minute drive we arrived and they had sold the vehicle out from under him. Then proceeded to try to sell him a different one and they all looked terrible with paint peeling. It was a terrible waste of time, gas and energy.

    I'm just going to copy an email I sent today to Drive Time customer service. Good morning, My name is DeShannon ** and I purchased a 2015 Honda Accord (**) from your Temple, TX dealership location dealer number P147567 on Friday, March 29, 2024. Yesterday I did call the dealership and asked to speak with a sales manager or dealership manager regarding some concerns and feedback I had. The person I spoke with was Kacie and I did give her the details of my concerns. I waited on hold for about 5 mins and then Kacie took my name and number to have him call me back. I was told at purchase that the vehicle had one minor accident. It visually appeared to me to have involved the front bumper as I could tell it didn't appear to be properly aligned in front. I actually pressed it with my hand to see if I could move it.

    On yesterday, I went to a local carwash that I frequent and the bumper did come loose (away from the car) at the front. The bumper that is correctly attached to a car should come loose from a car wash. This is the second concern since I left the dealership on Saturday. I already have an appointment scheduled for Saturday with a mobile mechanic.

    I called at opening Saturday March, 30th and my salesperson was with a customer. I don't recall the name of the person I spoke with. I expressed concerns at that time about the engine loudness upon acceleration. The engine sounds loud (like a truck) upon acceleration to pick up speed. This is not something I would have heard on a test drive around the block. I was advised about the warranty and told to go the website and look for in network providers to have the vehicle checked. It just seems as if I’m off to a rough start and I’ve had the vehicle less than a week and made zero payments. I would like to speak to someone regarding this matter.     I just wanna thank the whole entire Drivetime team. My finance manager Jason, Rashad and the new guy who assisted with my test drive. Everyone was very pleasant. Professional.     Purchased a vehicle on 3/27 at 8 PM. By 1 PM on 3/28 the car stopped working. The general manager would like to call me to discuss this. I would be more than happy to talk to you. Drive Time was completely unhelpful to resolve the problem, not only that they not care. They didn’t even call ones to check up and see if there was anything that they could do to help. I had to get my own tow truck to move the vehicle to a safe location.

    Good effortless services. Alvaro and TJ were inviting and made the process easy. Chris answered my inquiry call and I have to say brushing up on his customer service and telephone manners would for him and Drivetime well. Customers may have been lost because of his brashness. The car is make a loud noise sort of banging knocking noise when the heating system is turned on. I plan to take the car in for a look on 4/1.     Drive time on north west freeway was a horrible experience. Time was set up to test drive. The salesman was gone for the day. One man was trying to help me and another customer passed off to a nice lady and when I got the welcome my note had increase by 20$ more thing on my contract that I said I didn’t want from a 6p.m. appointment to 7:45 or closer to 8:00 p.m. This was a nightmare for me and my daughter so I still had a 2&1/2 hour drive home so I left there at 11:00 to 11:15 p.m. Never deal with them again.
