    The sales person that I had in the beginning was very nice and pleasant. I called him from work to let him know that I had decided on the Nissan Altima and that I did not want the extended warranty, but when I got there I was greeted by Byron. He was flat-out rude, who tried to belittle me because I didn't want the warranty. He said, PLEASE MAKE ME UNDERSTAND (like he was speaking to a 10 year-old). He was so pushy to the point that I walked out. I understand that DriveTime would much rather sell a car to someone who is willing to purchase the extended warranty (which adds 20 MONTHS to the life of the loan) than to sell to someone who is willing to purchase their own warranty without the interest rate. Byron did call to apologize after my husband called, but not before then. I told him that I do not trust him now and I was afraid that he may do something to the car.

    I felt like a bait and switched happened. After they ran my info and gave me the choice of five vehicles, I decided that I wanted the 2012 Mazda 2 red color. It was priced at $13,100, which I thought was reasonable. I told the rep Justin that I wanted the red one. He and other rep Kimberly, told me that they had a red one available. When I showed up, they only had the black Mazda. Now I checked this red Mazda out through and through carefully, your website specifically stated this vehicle was at the Irving TX location. When I mentioned this to Justin, he fed me some lie about how the cars are at different lots and that it would be a huge hassle to get a vehicle from one dealership to another, which I found to be very strange and out of the norm of a NORMAL dealerships.

    I also found it insulting that he would assume I would be stupid enough to want a car that's at another dealership. Go through the standard paperwork and procedure. I get out to do my inspection with Justin and I noticed that the car had no gas, the vehicle wasn't even washed. There was plastic all over the front seats. I didn't find the floor mats until I got the MAZDA home. I had to install the mats myself. There was trash, papers, used jewelry (absolutely gross), hair balls, used q-tips all inside and under the seats. So after I had signed all the paperwork, I decided to do some research online.

    I entered the VIN at the Kelley Blue book website that my Mazda 2 was being sold for $3000 less than what I agreed to at your dealership - $12,100. The monthly payments were a lot better too. Blue book said I should be paying $268 a month. I'm paying $212 bi-weekly. This made me so upset and angry. I just hate myself for getting swindled into this debt trap. I'm forced to have to live with friends now to just to survive. I need a car. I need it, especially here in Texas. Now, at this point, I understand since I did sign the paperwork, I'm stuck. However, I cannot in good faith endorse, or refer anyone to DriveTime because of what happened to me. I wouldn't want someone I care about to be stuck like I am.

    Rush, everything was rushed. The salesman got upset because I wanted to check the fluids in the car. Who buys a used car and sign that they are full before you look at them? That's crazy. Oil, transmission, anti freeze, brake, power steering fluids, these are essential. Everybody was just in a rush. Even when I tried to set up my direct deposit for my payment the salesman wanted me to give him my password and other information because he could not wait a few minutes so I could set my own without giving him my banking info.

    I went to the Indianapolis location (Shadeland Ave) and took care of everything with the only thing needing to be done when arrived in Columbus, OH to pick up my vehicle was to complete contact, pay downpayment and drive away with my car. When I got to Columbus everything went downhill real quick. They did not have the right vehicle out or ready. The vehicle I was to get was in the garage needing a battery. I was told that I needed $1800 down instead of the $1200 I was told. Needless to say I was quite frustrated as I and my wife had taken off the morning from work and clearly anticipated returning with a car and ready to go to work for the afternoon. We ended up leaving with no vehicle and on our way to the interstate to return home we got in contact with Larry ** at the Indianapolis location to let him know of the problems that had taken place.

    He in turn had his manager contact the Columbus location and had everything taken care of but we were unable to return that same day. I was able to return the following day and the vehicle had not been cleaned (even though they knew I was returning) and I was promised a full take of gas and got 3/4. This was definitely an experience that could have received a 1 star rating but I am pleased that I got the car that I wanted even though I has to make an extra trip to Columbus which would not have been necessary if everyone had done their job. I want to recognize Larry for a job well done as he was the only one that seem interested enough to make this deal work (as well as his manager)!!!

    This is the second time we've had to use the total loss protection plan through DriveTime. The first time was over a year ago and was a very pleasant experience. This time however was less than pleasant. I visited the branch on a Monday to look at our options for another vehicle. I chose an 06 Kia Sedona to look at and most likely to take home. From the low quality pictures I was shown, it looked to be in decent condition and it was within our price point. My husband and I returned on Wednesday at 10 am to test drive the Sedona and fill out the paperwork.

    We were severely disappointed in the van. The steering wheel was so cracked a few pieces fell off into my hand as I drove, the vehicle rattled when we drove it, the sliding side doors would not close from the inside, and it was dingy and had an unpleasant smell. Yvonne was very friendly and helpful, doing everything she could to find us another vehicle. Unfortunately that did not go well. She found a Chevy Impala that was at a different branch, that we were told was available. We left to put our son down for a nap while she went to pick it up.

    Almost 2 hours later, she called back saying that the Impala was not available and she was on her way back with a Chrysler Sebring. We agreed on this vehicle because it seemed to be the only one left in our price point. We then went to make a payment towards our deductible, which I was told that I had to have a money order. We get to the place to make the payment and they tell us they don't take that type of money order. I ended up having to go to the bank inside the store and opening an account to cash the money order to go pay. I was sent in without any instructions besides go in and tell them you need to make a payment to DriveTime. After almost an hour of trying to get the payment done, we were on our way back to the branch, where it took another 3 hours to complete the paperwork and everything else. We ended up not getting finished until 6 pm. Overall this time was not a good experience.

    This is our experience at Torrance. We don't like the car and its performance. The car seemed to be unsuitable. My experience started off poorly and I have never seen such unprofessional people at a car dealership. It was very clear to me all that mattered was take the car and leave. The walk around was done with a quick silver tongue and poor execution. I felt embarrassed and sadden. I had to get a car for me and my children. I felt my excitement go from a ten to a one.

    I think Drive as a company has a great concept but poor execution by their employees will certainly give them a bad reputation. This is as fair as I can be. The guy helping me was drunk, I could smell it on him. The finance guy was not a professional and if Drive Time were to go up there under cover they would be shock past unbelief. The car have some major issues and I am certain corporate doesn't know that the cars are a hot mess.

Even though it was a slow process after I made my mind up on which vehicle to purchase and went back several days later to sign the paperwork.     I came to DT because while I earn a decent living, I had/have credit issues that didn't allow me to purchase from a traditional dealership. I purchased a Chevy Malibu in August 2013. Overall, my experience was very good. My salesman was happy and friendly. All the staff was friendly. I was there for several hours, and I did a lot of the work over the phone, but I've purchased many cars, so I knew the drill. The list price of my car was just under 17K, which I have verified by asking the person that went with me to purchase the car. I had 1,050 that I put down on the car. I remember this because there was an Acura sitting on the lot that had a list price of 21k and some change and I was told I would need to have a much larger down payment to purchase that car. There was also a Mercedes on the lot that I liked and I believe the purchase price of that car was 22k and some change.

    As I was talking to the SM about the price of the car, he told me he would lower my interest rate to 16% and that may help my payment a little (every little bit helps). I make every payment via the auto-pay system and the payments are deducted from my checking account bi-weekly. I was told it was a simple interest loan and if I wanted to pay more each month, it would reduce the loan amount more quickly.

    Fast forward to today....I haven't looked at my paperwork probably since I signed it (there has been no reason to do so). But I wanted to see what payoff would be at this point, now that I've been paying for almost a year. So I logged into Mydrivetime.com and was astonished at the payoff amount. It is more than the list price of the car (which was also supposed to be lowered by $500 at the time of purchase). I called customer service to verify this information because I knew it had to be a mistake.

    The CSR told me what I was seeing online and she said I had to call to the dealership to discuss it with them. I also realized that I didn't have a signed copy of my paperwork(any of it). I had copies, but nothing signed. So I called the dealership and spoke with (will not mention their name here) and asked if I could get a copy of my signed paperwork. He immediately got defensive telling me he didn't have it there and if I wanted it I would have to call customer service (he was really rude). So I called customer service again to ask for a copy of my signed paperwork. The CSR was very nice and friendly. She sent me the contract, which matched the unsigned copies that I have. She told me to review them and if I had any questions to give them a call back. I told her I didn't need to review them because I knew what my issue was.

    I would have NEVER, EVER purchased a Malibu that was 3 years old and paid what I could get a new one for. Credit issues or not, that doesn't make good business sense. While my experience purchasing was a positive one, this realization has definitely put a negative spin on the whole experience. What started it all is that I am paying over $450 per month for this car and I wanted to see what my options were for reducing my monthly payment. I wanted to see if I could 1) trade it in at a DT dealership (trade up) but of course the catch to the DT Champ program is that you have to owe less than $4500 on the loan <----that's a pretty important factor that wasn't explained at the time of purchase. What was said was if I paid for my car on time for a year or so, I could trade up with little or no money down.

    The 2nd CSR I spoke with told me she was putting in a report with DT management and I hope so because I am very upset and feel like I was scammed. I am a single mother and while I may make decent money, every penny I bring in is accounted for and is spoken for. In reading these reviews, I see where some have had similar experiences to this or a variation of this. It seems a bit sketchy but my hope is that it will be resolved effectively and efficiently.

    Lied to about condition and things wrong with car. Had for less than 48 hrs. Have of list of 8 things, the worst and most dangerous is a possible bad Tie Rod. Then went to have repairs done. That's when we found out about we were lied to about warranty. We spoke to Manager named ** in Clearwater fl Pineallas Park store and when talking about the tie rod and seriousness of that which could cause a bad accident, I asked him if he would drive it with his KIDS with bad TIE ROD and he said he would have NO PROBLEM driving that with a bad TIE ROD. WE were lied to about warranty, tried to wait to get the car fixed AFTER the 5 DAY GRACE Period would be over. BUYERS BEWARE OF THIS. Incidentally we saw online that a car was returned the day before we bought ours for the same reasons we quoted above. Confronted employees about that and refused to comment. BEWARE.

    I didn't have good credit after my bankruptcy and I was extremely hesitant about going to DriveTime but I had been to all the other dealerships and wasn't having any luck. So I went to DriveTime on my day off around 10 am and did not leave that lot until it was close to 9 pm. I was shuffled around from sales person to sales person. Didn't get the car washed like they said they would do and the manager just left in the middle of my sale to go to lunch and we had to wait about an hour for him to come back. So I did have a good start. 2 weeks after I had the car. The CD player would stop playing randomly. I called their CSR and I was told that wasn't covered. OK, I really liked the car and thought I'll just replace it.

    Well everything was just fine for a year until I had a switch in jobs which postponed one of my payments. That's when the Customer Service Dept. changed. Honestly it wasn't all of them just a few that used some awful tactics to gather my information and payment. After that I took the car to one of the places they (CSR) recommended. A day after I left from that garage I noticed the same leak that I took it in for. So I took it to a Nissan dealership and they found several thing wrong with it and they said it looks like it had been there a long time. So I knew DT would not cover it so I am paying 4000.00 to fix this problem. Still I love my car and am willing to pay it.

    Finally I tried to get my payments consolidated to once a month. I asked in January and never got a return call, although CSR's says they did call. Then I tried again in February. Again no return call and DT CSR's said the same thing. Now it’s March and I call on the sixth and actually had a follow up with a gentleman and he said he was going to send the papers over via email. I received them and signed them and sent them back. He told me to wait three days and then make my payment. So on the third day I logged on and saw that my payment was only doubled and not the price we agreed on but I assumed that maybe it would start up next month.

    Well I got an email letting me know my payment of 209.13 was soon to be due. I called DT's CSR and they said that it was declined because it was submitted in an untimely manner. I told her about the conversation I had with gentleman. She said there was no notes on that. I told her I had the fax confirmation. She said they never received it. So I was upset but requested to have my payment consolidated, again. She said that she would send it out to me and I needed to send back A.S.A.P. I told her I would have it done in five minutes. She asked me to call her back in two hours. I was at work and didn't get a chance to call back until 3 hours later.

    I spoke to someone else and she verified that it had been approved at 460 and some change. I could understand why the price change and now I would be done with my payments until 2017 which I thought I was supposed to be done in 2016. But nonetheless I asked her that the gentleman in March told me a different price. She said “Yeah I see it here in the computer.” Well now the first rep said she didn't see no notes and now this one can see the notes. Now I'm getting a little bit angry and start to feel like I am being lied to. So I asked to speak to the supervisor to file a complaint.

    After a long wait on the phone I finally get to speak to Trevor who already had a tone of disdain in voice. As I was trying to explain the situation and how upset I was, he kept talking over me and pretty much placed the blame on me. With the first two request he said that's gonna be a he said she said thing. As for March he asked why didn't I call to confirm that we had received the email. I told him I had a fax confirmation plus the guy I was working with never asked me to call him back. He said everything was good and make my payment in 3 days. Trevor went on to say when you saw that the amount was not the amount agreed upon why did I call. I told him that I assumed you guys knew what you were doing and that I trusted you guys completely.

    Talking over me, again, he said what kind of restitution was I looking for. I told him I wasn't looking for any restitution because I was already told there was nothing they could do. By this point his tone had turned from disdain to condescending and it got the point where I said I think we should just end this call because we're going around in circles. He asked if I was going to keep with the new contract or not. I said yes and responded with that tone. “Is there anything you needed Mr. **.” I said no but I want you to know I... He hung up me.

    I have never been treated so badly in my entire life. I am usually a very calm individual and trusting. Which is why I'm so upset and being blamed for the past transactions because I didn't do a follow up call. I work in customer service in the medical field and I have dealt with some pretty bad people but I would never treat anyone the way Trevor treated me. I'm still upset. I called DT this morning to cancel the consolidated payment plan and was told I couldn't because it has already gone thru. I asked how long would I have to wait before I could cancel it. I was thinking a couple of weeks. Nope 6 months. I'm extremely sorry for the few good CSR's that are there but this last dealing has left me uncomfortable and untrusting. You can thank Trevor for all this. I never want to deal with DT's CSR people ever again. Now due to the review guidelines I can’t make any threats. I will say that this is not going to end here and that is no threat.

    Yes I do have credit issues so I went to drive time and they approved me for a car I wanted. 1st the car was over priced by about $4000 and every time I called with a warranty issue it was not covered. After a year and a half I got behind on payments. I tried to work with them and in 3 days I talked to 3-4 different people all telling me something different. I was trying to resolve the issue and the guy told me he did not want to do business with me. He was rude and would not let me speak to another person. When I called back 2x I was on hold for a long time and no one came back. I was willing and able to give him $1000 and he turned it down and said take my money else where.

When a DriveTime Customer Falls behind on payments DriveTime makes every attempt to work with the customer to get their account caught up. However, there are limitations to how much we can do.     My experience with DriveTime had been pleasant until today. I spoke to the rudest agent in the recovery department who not only lied to me but hung up on me twice. Everything she claimed she couldn't do, the next agent kindly assisted me with. Now things happen that cause me to have my car repossessed, and I fully own up to that. But the last thing I needed was to have a rude and demeaning agent after I brought my account CURRENT and was only trying to get my car back. I work in customer service, and would NEVER speak to someone the way that she spoke to me. Smh. Please train your agents, DriveTime.

    I was behind in my payment due to lost of job, but I found a new job and got paid up from what I was behind on and now I see that two more payments are added to my account. I should only owe for one payment of 200.85 and one payment of 1/2 this amount.

    My husband & I purchased a vehicle from Drivetime on 3/29/14 and the next day started to hear a noise, so I took it to the shop they told to and was told that it was in the motor and would more than likely need a new one. We returned the vehicle to Drivetime on 4/1/14 and was able to get our money back with no problems. Here's the kicker, I was curious to see if they would fix it or put it back for sale, so I checked their website and there it was back on there for sale on 4/2/14. I know I don't have great credit and that's why we went to them for help but that is just bad business. Will not be going back. I would advise people to be careful and not get screwed. Stay away from the 2009 Jeep Commander.

    Thank you for your feedback. We apologize for the issues you had early in your loan and the perception you had of DriveTime. We have researched the situation and have discovered that a claim was never filed through the warranty company. We see that you called Aeverex in regard to the issue, but the vehicle was never taken to a repair facility to have a diagnosis performed to confirm the stated necessary repairs. Had a claim been filed by a repair facility for the replacement of the engine, this would have been covered under your vehicle protection plan.

    We see that you opted to return the vehicle within the five day vehicle return period on April 1. Once received, all of our vehicles undergo a multipoint inspection to insure they meet and exceed national standards before they are leased or sold.     Drive Time in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma made me feel important the minute I walked onto the lot. I was treated with respect and courtesy and when talking with the salesperson they made me feel that what I had to say was important and they actually listened. The purchase was easy and painless. The only issue that was time consuming was the transaction time for the insurance coverage. Thank you Drive Time for putting me into the car I truly wanted to own.
