    I am totally happy with purchasing a car from DriveTime. It was practically flawless. The only thing I would change is the wait time of having to sign the documents. That took a little time but besides that little minor detail I would recommend everyone that is challenged in the credit area, go there.     When my husband and I were searching for a new vehicle due to our old one having thousands of dollars of repairs needing to be made on a vehicle not even worth a thousand dollars we turned to DriveTime having heard several good things about their processes and their vehicles being very good quality... Man were we misled. We bought our car in July of 2013, and in our state they give you 3 months to get the plates on the car. We were told within about 30-45 days we would have the plates. Fast forward to the week our in transits expired and I had to call repeatedly to be finally told our plates had been there since about 15 days after we drove off the lot. We also had to go through the warranty process a week into owning the car due to the transmission going out and causing the car to jerk and shake whenever we made a left turn. It took them almost 3 weeks to finally approve and repair that issue, but we were denied the coverage for the alignment that needed to be done after the transmission was replaced.

    Now when I was driving home this morning (1/14/13) my car populated a message stating "reduced engine power" and my car is incapable of going more than 15mph. We have had nothing but problems with our vehicle that supposedly went through so many checks before it was sold to us. We are going to be in the market for a second vehicle in about a month and we were going to go through DriveTime again but with all the issues and the fact we keep having issues with our vehicle I don't think we will. And I may be going so far as to find someone to buy out our loan with DriveTime and get a car that won't give us nearly as many problems. I can understand regular maintenance type things but 2 instances of major mechanical issues and we haven't even had the car barely 6 months.

    The staff was friendly and professional. The service overall was outstanding. However, the issue was with identifying a vehicle from the website that met my needs. I selected several prior to arriving (as can be reasonably expected) some were no longer available. Prior to arriving I found 5 additional vehicles that were possibilities and it took several hours to determine which were available and a match.     At first I was thinking that it was going to be another car lot, but when they told me that it's not based on credit it's based on how much you make a month determines your down payment to make it short and sweet, they tell you the truth.     Love the car but think I really got no opportunity to get the deal I wanted. I explained that I wanted to be around a certain payment and was not given any options on how I could get there. The payment ended up being 50.00 a month more than I requested. For a 16,000 listed car I ended up paying 22,000. I could have put more money down but that was not offered either. Then shown a payment of 199.00 biweekly and contract stated 200.03. Happy with my car but would not recommend DriveTime. Thank you.

    I leased my vehicle in September and had no problems until I choose to make my payments by Western Union or MoneyGram instead of direct debit from my account. In December on the 10th to be exact, I called and spoke with a representative and requested payment options since it was my first payment to pay without using direct pay. The rep told me that I could do Western Union and have me the information required to do so. I did that. Then on Friday (1/3/14), I was called saying my payment has not been received, I informed the rep that I paid the payment and I called in to give customer service my reference number she insisted that they don't do Western Union payments and the next payment needs to be done by check free payments at Walmart.

    Ok on 1/4/14, I made the payment. Of course on Monday 1/6/14 the payment had not been received. I have her again my reference number and she then turns around and say I did it incorrectly it was suppose to be check free payment. I'm not use to those payment options so I thought I was doing it right. When I asked what I could do to avoid my car being deactivated, I was told to fax copy of receipt. I asked since I was off work until Tuesday could I do it then. I was told No today by 5. Ok I was in the Colonial Heights area where I purchased the vehicle and asked if they could faxed the receipts and they were very considerate and did so. Then when I spoke with Western Union and MoneyGram to find out my options to have money refunded and was told it would take 10 days.

    I told rep at DriveTime that info including what the dealership stated and she said if payment is not in she will have my car deactivated on Tuesday. I found this to be unfair when you are doing your best and what you were told that you still get treated like an irresponsible child. I made my payments and did what I was told and still being held accountable for their uneducated errors. This experience has made me reconsider buying another car from DriveTime not because of dealership but customer service. And I have informed my referrals also to go elsewhere. It’s just not fair....

    I bought my Hyundai Sonata 9/19/13. Few problems but nothing major until a dealer told me they could get me into a new car at a much lower rate. I went with my Sonata for trade in and was soon told that I had a branded title in regards to the odometer and said my car is worth far less than similar cars. This was never disclosed to me when I bought the car and see if this can get fixed through the DMV but if not I will definitely consider legal action!!!

He agreed that all the problems could not occur within 3 weeks after buying the car. He gave us $100 off our first payment due to the hassle and inconvenience of the situation. Even though this should have never occurred it was nice that they were willing to acknowledge that an error on their part and give us some type of compensation. Thank you JP!

    We purchased 2005 Chrysler Town and Country on December 3, 2013 from the Drivetime located on East Sahara Avenue in Las Vegas Nevada and was told by the sales person that the vehicle was a good reliable vehicle and that all their vehicles goes through four inspections prior to being available for purchase. A pre-purchase inspection, a mechanical inspection, a quality control in inspection and delivery inspection. On December 23, 2013 the vehicle started making a whining noise from the power steering pump. As per instructions from the dealership I took the vehicle to the mechanic shop that they told me to and advised them of the noise. Upon checking the vehicle the mechanic found a total of four problems and I was told that the vehicle could not be driven because of these issues. The power steering pump was leaking, the radiator was leaking, the transmission was leaking and the rack and pinion steering had to be replaced. I was told that a Drivetime inspector would have to approve the repairs and that I was temporarily out of a vehicle because it as unsafe to drive.

    Upon calling the warranty company all they said they could do for me was reimburse me for a rental car which I did not have the money for. I called Drivetime customer service and was told that they could not do anything for me either and when I asked about the so called inspections they told me that the cars are just looked over prior to being put on the lot for sale. I called the dealership where I bought the car and was also told that there was nothing they could do because once they sell the car it is out if their hands. I was denied any kind of assistance, compensation or anything from Drivetime or the warranty company. I cannot believe that these problems occurred within the three weeks after me buying the car. I believe that Drivetime knowingly sold me a defective vehicle. They refused to compensate me for my time and trouble and leaving me without a car for two days. The vehicle was repaired for almost $1500 and now I am concerned about what else might go wrong! My wife is afraid to drive it now due to its unreliability.

    I am concerned about what else might go wrong with this vehicle. We love the vehicle itself and want to keep it but how many times am I going to pay the deductible when something goes wrong?

    I referred my brother Andrico to the Drive Time in Kissimmee because he has adverse credit and needs a vehicle. Because I have been in the banking industry for over 10 years, my brother asked that I accompany him to help him understand his financing options. We initially spoke with ** who I had phoned earlier to set up an appointment and go over approval. He was very pleasant and helpful. He told my brother he would get the lowest down payment and payment possible because of his wages. At that point, we met ** since ** stated he would not be in the next day to assist with the sale.

    When we left that evening, we were both under that impression that things were going smoothly and that all information that was needed was complete. They went to get the first choice that my brother wanted which was a Chevy Trailblazer from another location. ** called my brother the next morning and told him he only needed to do $400 for the vehicle, but then told him since they had the car too long in their inventory, they were doing $300 down instead. Of course, my brother was ecstatic because he didn't have much to put down and was happy with that.

    When we arrived that evening to test the vehicle, we met with **. When ** turned on the vehicle, after being on for about 2 mins, it just turned off, which shocked all of us. We test drove the car and my brother indicated that he kept hearing noises. When we arrived back to the dealer, I suggested to my brother to not make an impulsive decision and see if they have something else he'd like. He chose a 2008 Chevy Trailblazer. Test drove that; brother likes it. Let's go do business... we thought.

    ** gave Andrico the buyer option summary and it had $3985 in "extras", which increased the amount financed from $14,295 to $19,005.50 with an 18.821% rate. I understood the rate because my brother's credit is not the best. His term was for 72 months. I asked if the extras could be removed and ** said they could but with double down deposit. I told him I thought that was ridiculous and he got his manager ** who stated that since they were using a job letter instead of bank statements to show POI, they made an exception to do $400 down payment....

    At that point I reminded them that he did produce 3 months bank statements that proved income and the job letter just verified the deposits made to his account. ** and ** took some time to review statements...again... and then ** tried to convince my brother to take $2895 Powertrain Protection Plan, $495 GPS, & $595 GAP (which he wanted to keep). My brother indicated that he didn't need those things and I told them that he never had those things in the past and couldn't afford any extras. ** went back to his desk and called out that the payment difference to take those things off would only be $1... I told him that was impossible and to show me. He spent some time typing at his desk and brought over another buy option summary that he manipulated to get the payment back up to the same.

    I asked him why he decreased his term and increased his interest to 20.821% at which point he said when customers don't take those extras, the term and rate would be different, which he didn't mention before. I told him that generally, things financed outside of the price of the vehicle has no reflection on rate or term, but he refused to adjust the term back to the 72 months he originally had. I told my brother to let's go elsewhere because we felt he was getting "had". I have since called customer relations at 888-290-0148 to complain and am waiting to hear back from a very nice representative within a few hours. I hope we are able to resolve this so my brother can get the car he wants with payments/options he can afford and I can update this complaint.

    Since I have bought my car I have had to have the transmission rebuilt and now within 6 months of using DriveTime's approved shop the transmission is worse than when it was before. I can no longer downshift from 5th gear without having to pop the gear in and out of 5th several times. I tried taking it to a Ford Dealership to have it done properly and they said that it was not covered unless I took it back to the original location that did the crappy repairs the first time.

    Now my exhaust manifold has blown a weld not due to any improper maintenance and it is not covered. The exhaust manifold is a must part on an engine and it is not covered??? How is it legal to force a warranty into the price of a car when the warranty doesn't cover anything? I will be making sure to let everyone I know who is thinking about going to DriveTime to avoid them at all costs. This company is the worst company that uses shady practices to boost their profits. AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS!!! Consider yourself warned.

    As stated above, everything went well as far as the approval and the down payment. BUT... Upon test driving the truck, I noticed that the cruise control was not working. I informed the salesperson and she said it would be fixed before I picked up the vehicle. When I arrived to pick it up, 2 other salespeople told me that it had been fixed and one even said "I personally drove it, and the cruise works fine now." After signing all the paperwork (we were there for over 2 hours because the gentleman doing the final paperwork messed something up twice), I drove home and immediately noticed that the cruise control was NOT working. I called them back the next day and the salesperson said "Oh I thought we told you, we couldn't fix it because it's not a safety concern, there's nothing we can do for you." So 2 salespeople lied to my face that the problem had been repaired and then rushed me out the door so they could close early for their holiday party. I did not appreciate this experience and I will not be returning any business to Drivetime and I will let everybody I know how I was lied to.

    I have purchased other cars from drivetime. This experience was good. The only issue I have is that when you make your first payment you have to go somewhere else, instead of creating an account with drivetime online then paying that way without any more charges. My first two vehicles I was able to submit my payments that way. It was a lot easier and no other charges. Kind of wish they still had that service to offer. Drivetime has better their warranty program and offers you an option to take it or not. Overall they have improved, just wished they kept the paying online part of the program, instead of having you to either direct payment or pay else where with more fees. Thank you.

    I bought a car from DriveTime 10 months ago and this is the 4th time I have to get repairs done to it. $600 out of pocket in expenses. I called to ask if there was anyway to get the car replaced and was told no and that because I had drove my car too much it's my fault. How is transmission sensors, alternators and front end shocks my fault? I have missed work and dished out so much money on this car it is a struggle to make the payments anymore. And you better believe if you are even one day late, they call my phone over and over, 7 times in one day!! I will say they said they could give me a deferment to help out but then went back on their work 2 weeks later and demanded my missed payments. It was a mess. If I had it to do over, I would have never stepped foot in DriveTime.

Everyone there acted like they didn't know anything when I began to ask questions about the selection of cars I had to choose from about and why certain cars didn't qualify for the low down payment promotion.     I got a Buick LaCrosse from DriveTime. It’s okay, had less miles on it than with my old one. DriveTime came through stronger than anyone I’ve tried. The other dealers basically had a lot of miles, a little too much. All this time I told a couple of friends about it and they have to say it's really positive. But the only downfall is that we have to drive all the way out there from where we live. We all live at Upper Marlboro in Maryland so the drive away is like 2 plus hours.

    Our previously purchase from Drive Time was an '06 Scion which was totaled by being rear-ended by a Yukon. This was my second purchase through Drive Time and absolutely being in an accident and coming out of it owing nothing was a relief. Drive Time ate the remainder of my car loan and I was free and clear. This accident was in the end of October 2012, and this week (November 26, 2012), I get a phone call after class from Heather with Drive Time. She was sorry about our loss and would like to extend the offer of my previous loan and all I had to do was bring a few documents and pick out any car for zero money down. The available list of cars was great but we went with a 2012 Dodge Avenger with $100.00 down. The whole incident ended up being painless.

    I was going to go out this weekend and look at cars. I am glad Heather called because we were at a loss on what to do. We had three cars and in a matter of 48 hours, we were down to one, a 2010 Nissan Altima. The next day, after the Scion being rear-ended, our backup car broke down out of nowhere and has not restarted to this day. Anyways, we were at our wits end trying to decide on what to do. Thank you for my third car through Drive Time and helping when stress is the worst. I don't think many other car dealerships would even care about what goes on once they sell you a vehicle. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know Drive Time is still making money and that is business but Drive Time cared enough to extend the offer and acknowledged our recent loss of a vehicle.

    To me, that is great because my own insurance company or the person at fault's insurance never once apologized or even understood the stress of losing a car. So now, we are back to two cars which is far better than one when one works in Norfolk and the other in Virginia Beach. Thank you, Drive Time! Did I mention it was the faster buying of a car? I swear once we showed up, we were in and out in like 3.5 hours and all the paper work was done. You know why? Because they did their homework and prepared prior to my arrival. Best experience yet!

    I purchased a 2008 Chrysler 300 from Drivetime have had the car less than a year.. Well the car stopped running and I had to have it towed to garage.. It was the Front control module (FCM) that had a short in it.. well figure since the car cost me $18,000 I assumed I had a good warranty (who would spend 18,000 on a car with a useless warranty). Well obvious I did, the warranty dept told me that that part is not covered in the warranty (WHAT!! ) so they would not cover that repair $800.00 dollar repair job on a $18,000 dollar car that is kinda cold. If I was the owner of Drivetime and I wanted to keep a loyal customer I would have at least offered to pay half.. but I got blew off. So thanks Drivetime I've always had high marks for you guys but I question that decision now.. merry christmas

    I purchased a 2004 pickup 4x4 on 16 Nov 2013. Prior to purchasing the vehicle, I went online shopping and reviewed several other web sites before coming to rest with DriveTime. The other sites either didn't have what I was interested in or the price was a bit too pricey for what I would pay. My first encounter with DriveTime was a very positive one even though they didn't have the 4x4 I was seeking.     I was trying to Google search places on the internet to be able to buy a car. Their advertisement was what really got me on Google because it said like almost anybody can get approved and that they worked with people. I chose DriveTime instead of a different auto dealer because everywhere else around here wanted a cosigner or wanted me to put a crazy amount of money down. But at DriveTime, they made it really easy to pick from the vehicles they had to offer me, and they even have the vehicles that I didn’t have to put any money down.

    It was my first time shopping with DriveTime. It’s going to be 2 weeks this Saturday since I bought my Nissan Versa. It only had 32,000 miles on it, 2012. You really couldn’t beat it. It’s practically brand new. I really had a good experience with them. I got the car that I needed.

    We financed the new vehicle and I just have a payment every two weeks. The process was really simple once I got it through the dealership. I do have one complaint. In the end, it all worked out, so it’s really not that big of a deal. But I was told I was approved over the phone from the Utah office that I saw a certain car. This is the car I want and they said, “Hey, great! You’re already approved for it. All you have to do is go up there with these three things and you can walk away with that car.” And when I got there, they were like, “You can’t have that car. You can have these cars, but you can’t have that one.”

    It’s not that I have bad credit; I just don’t have enough credit history. But I had explained that to the office in Utah and they told me that was fine. So I was under the impression I was going to be able to get the vehicle I had been looking after. Overall, they were just really easy to work with. If I refer anybody, I get $100 off my payment.

But, the extremely high monthly payments and APR on the loan almost sets the buyer up for trouble.     The people at DriveTime were very punctual. They were super-duper friendly being that I’m a loyal client. I paid off the first car a little bit fast but they honored everything. I got a couple more payments left on the previous car but when I came back, they reviewed my record and my history with them and I ended up in some kind of VIP, something called the Champ Program. And they saw where I had never been late and stood by me. They checked their vehicle before they gave it to me and gave me more information that I needed as far as hospitality.

    My credit score was up pretty fair. But prior to that, they helped me get that higher credit score because they did walk through what will make my credit score and purchasing better and what will give me better buying power. And I thought that was pretty cool. They didn’t haggle with me. They let me do the decision making.

    I’m going to get a third car from them. I want more people to know that they will work for them. Not only with them but they work for the people. Their slogan needs to be, “For the people,” because they really try to help.

    I am a return customer of DriveTime. My first car was paid on time and I paid it off early. I moved overseas and returned 7/13/13 and needed to get another car. Because of my previous experience, I returned to Drive Time. I have even referred at least 3 people in times past to DT where they purchased their cars. I purchased a 04 Infiniti G35 which appeared to be in good condition. Within one day, I returned because the a/c wasn't getting cool enough. The service department put new freon in the car to address that problem. A month and a half later, I had the brakes replaced. The mechanic made me aware of a suspension problem; the front and rear arms were completely bad and nonexistent.

    I called the warranty company and they said it was not covered and advised me to contact the dealership. When I contacted the dealership, I was told they can’t do anything but to contact customer service. In the meantime, I went to have a routine oil change and to my surprised was hit with almost $1600 worth of repairs that need to be done. I called customer service and they directed me to the new loans department. The person I spoke with was extremely rude and basically told me that it's a personal issue So, I contacted customer service again where I was told by the agent that I could hold off on the payment until I got the car fixed the week of Thanksgiving, and I could submit receipts for the month to adjust my payment.

    Additionally I was told that she could not stop the calls because it was automated but that I could call her once a week to note that I am still maintaining contact and is still planning the repairs for that week. Today, I received another call and was told that it will go on my credit after 31 days and that I should make a payment; that if I hold off, I am cutting it close with the modification request because it is not guaranteed. As I shared with the rep, my history with DT speaks for me in that not only do I pay my car notes but I paid it off early. I am frustrated because the issues that I am having with my car will not all be able to be addressed at this point since I must make a payment to keep it from going on my credit and there is nothing that I can do about being sold a bad car. I am highly disappointed and will never do business again with DT after this experience, and will encourage others not to either.

    Bought my car from DriveTime and financed it with them and they did a bait and switch on me. Now some company called Santander is the company that I pay. Watch out for these guys, all smiles and grins. Must be they know what is about to happen. God forbid that you miss a payment, 10 to 15 calls a day. Then when the car gets repoed and damaged, they wash their hands of all things.

    Previously, some of our loans were administered by Santander Car Loans and offered our customers the same or comparable options to our regular, in-house financing. If you had trouble making payments, did you call prior to missing a payment and request an extension?     The entire team at Mesa DT was more than helpful, coming together at certain points to process everything I needed. No one refused even the simplest questions, and from 9 in the morning until 7 at night, every single employee seemed to enjoy their job, and not concerned with the clock, going home, etc. To be completely selfish, I'd say my experience with Ms Jacqueline ** was all but divine. Willing to help me with all that was conceivable, understanding, and patient. Towards the end she seemed more excited than I did. She is a wonderful asset to the DT team, keep her around.     I have had my car since July and my check engine light has come on. I brought it to 3 different mechanics to have it looked at and all three said that the Cadillac converter was shot and it didn't seem to be something that had just went within the last couple of months. So I called Drive Time and there is nothing they can do for. I think it's unfair that I have a car for only 4 months and have to put $700 worth of work into it.

    The only suggestion is to have a higher standard when prepping or delivering the vehicle. If the vehicle came with floor mats, power wash them, vacuum them, and lay them in the rear of the vehicle for the customer to see. Don't throw them away. If the floor mats are beyond cleaning, then throw them away and put in a set of floor mats as a customer courtesy. I used to work as a prep tech in a car dealership. You can see the example of what I am telling you about at goldsteinauto.com. Just pick ANY used car and see the pictures. They will include the pictures of the floor mats. After all, I did spend a lot of money on this vehicle. It should have INCLUDED them.
