I thought I'd try purchasing a car online because my friend had a great experience with another online company. I saw a car on CarMax that I thought I'd really enjoy having. A 2019 Chevrolet Equinox Premiere. I was going to trade in my low miles 2016 Jeep Compass. I was provided a pretty decent offer so the next stage would be to wait for a rep to call me to start this process. A day later a rep called me and we started. There were tons of questions, pre-qualifiers, etc. I decided I would pay cash for my vehicle and so I immediately paid for the transfer of the Vehicle from PA to Albany, NY which was gonna run me $200 non-refundable dollars. So that done, I waited and waited.
My trade in offer expired at this point. So after getting tired of waiting I called to find out what the deal is with my vehicle. The rep gasses me up telling me the car was delivered (why didn't anyone call me) and it's being put through inspection. In the meantime to expedite everything I needed to re-submit my pictures of my vehicle and fill out forms again for my trade in offer. I did it that night. Again more waiting, my trade in offer expires yet again (this is the third time). Finally, again I get on the customer service chat to find out what the deal is and to tell them that at this point I'm so over it. I think I don't want the car. Well the rep tells me it's my lucky day. The car is ready. It was a quarter to five. If I hadn't called, no one was going to call or send me an email to tell me that this car was ready. At this point I'm over it. I have to ask myself why would I dish out in cash $18k to purchase a car from a company that can't even provide the most basic customer service?
If your staff can't take the time to give a customer who paid cash for this transfer, the courtesy of giving updates and walking you through the process, imagine what would happen after I give my money and something goes wrong with the vehicle. I can't trust you to give me good service after I gave you $200 and now I'm expected to give $18k? No. I decided to take the loss on the $200. I wasn't going to travel 3 hours to Albany and then realize they're pulling a fast one on me. Needless to say I was very surprised and disappointed because other reviews were pretty favorable. They got 3 stars on yelp. Anyway, beware. If you can avoid the transfer fee, do that in case you decide you don't want to deal with crappy customer service.

I went to purchase a Mercedes Benz first mistake from Carmax. I talked to the salesman, got everything in writing. When I came to close deal they had took warranty off then wanted to charge me. Truly bad. They claim no haggle when you try to go lower but they have no problem raising price when they need to

I bought an Audi 2015 A3. After I came home to have the safety recall fixed by a dealer I found out that there is no repair available. It is a passenger airbag deployment issue that makes the car dangerous to ride in if the light goes on. I called Carmax and told them and got excuses and shifting of the blame onto me, who should have known. I am truly disgusted with the experience. I cannot even resell this car in good faith. Avoid Carmax.

I can say in my 40+ years of buying cars you are the worst! I spend a lot of time researching my new car then learning your systems to initiate the buying process from taking pictures of my trade in to filling out the appropriate paperwork to securing the financing to being told I will need to wait three plus weeks for the car only to be told the car is here but we don't have the title or the paperwork to transact the transfer. Bush league, unprofessional, and unacceptable. Who is going to compensate me for my time and energy not to mention the fact that I now don't have a car to drive. You should be ashamed of yourself advertising deliverables you can't deliver and wasting hard working people's time. Horrible! Do Not DO Business With This Company!

After 3.5 hours, they couldn't get their system to work, so they tried to force me to sign different financing at a higher rate and longer term with THEIR financing department. After searching for weeks online, found the car that checked all the boxes at Carmax online. The vehicle was "coming soon", so I opted to receive an email when the car became available for purchase. I enabled notifications on my email and checked immediately when any and every email arrived. After approximately 10 days I was notified it was ready! So excited! I was the first to respond. I immediately signed up for the vehicle to be transferred from its location in TX to the Birmingham Carmax. The website said I completed all the info and they would be calling to arrange a time. I waited for the call. Two days, nothing.
On the morning of day three, I get an email saying that my "hold" had expired and did I want to extend it!! In a panic, I hit YES, and was relieved that I still had first option to purchase. I called Carmax to personally arrange the transfer. They told me someone had an appointment to test drive the car that afternoon. They would inform me if they declined. They sold the car from under me. I got lots of "I apologize, I'm so sorry. I'll write a report to my manager." This was BEFORE the car was sold. They sold it anyway. A month of searching and waiting. Back to square one.

I bought a used car from Carmax. I've left six messages with their service department and have not received a call back. Two weeks this has been going on. I've contacted Corporate and am currently still on hold after 46 minutes, waiting to talk to a human. The office will close before they pick up. I'm fed up with incompetence masquerading as slick customer service. DO NOT PURCHASE THEIR SERVICE AGREEMENT, a total ripoff if no one is there to help.

In February of 2021 I purchased a Hyundai Equus Ultimate from the Sacramento location. I paid 300+ to have it shipped in from Henderson, NV. Once it arrived took possession of the vehicle and that was that. After a couple of weeks of ownership there were some things that were not adding up. The vehicle 40K miles on it but the wear and tear was not consistent with the miles on the vehicle. Dashboard coming apart, clouded headlights and buckled front wheel liners which was consistent with a front end minor collision, I did not feel comfortable keeping that car long term and exercised the 30 day return policy. For a car that cost $70,000 new and only a couple of years old things did not add up. I paid $24,000+/- cash and needed the car to be trouble free
I returned the car and saw that the Henderson, nv location had another new arrival Hyundai Equus Ultimate which was two years older but only had 34,000 miles and was in much better condition.Carmax demanded that I pay $300+ to have the new vehicle shipped into California. I made it very clear that I was not paying another $360 to have another car shipped in and I guess that we would not be doing business. Their loss. I went home and not more than a couple hours later I received a call from management asking what can be done to do a deal. I made it clear that I was not paying shipping again and that if they would pay to have the car shipped I would take a look at it once it arrived at the dealership. They agreed to ship the vehicle
Once the 2nd vehicle arrived I did the same process. I went look at the car, test drove it, loved it, and purchased it. After the 30 days this is where the headaches ramped up specifically with Carmax and the lack of customer care. After 30 days I had a list of issues that needed to be addressed. I called to make an appointment to bring my vehicle and was advised by the service advisor Albert to bring my vehicle in and have the issues addressed. I had made an extensive explanation of the issues with instructions on how to duplicate the issues.
After having the car for a week Albert had informed me that one of the issues was addressed however they had sent the car over to the Hyundai dealership and could not find anything else wrong with the vehicle or the issues that I had documented. I asked Albert if he looked at the notes that I had provided and he had no response. When I went to the dealership Albert had told me that the dealership said that there were no software updates for the vehicle or for the GPS navigation system, which after hearing this I realized that Albert had no idea or understanding of what the issues were and did not properly convey the issues to the dealership. When I went to Carmax Albert assured me that the issue would be fixed in spite of him not understanding the issue.
He advised that I take the vehicle and make an appointment to bring the vehicle back once he could get an appointment date with Hyundai to bring the vehicle in. I followed up and Albert told me to bring the vehicle in on a Friday so that he could make sure that it was at the Hyundai Dealership for a Monday morning appointment.
As instructed I brought the vehicle in on a Friday so that it could be taken to the dealership by Monday Morning. However when I had driven to CarMax on Wednesday of the following week to get some answers since the phones were not being answered I noticed that the car was still sitting in the back 40 of the customer car lot, Between two large trucks. When I expressed my concern about a black car with black leather interior sitting in the lot, with windows rolled up on a 100 degree plus day between two trucks, Albert, or Carmax had no care in the world about my concerns. Albert told me that they were short staffed so as a result they did not have anyone who could take the car to Carmax and that he was not sure of when it would go over to Hyundai. The car remained in the customer car lot for another week or two. After two weeks the car was caked with dust and dirt.
After the car finally went to the Hyundai Dealership the service manager had called me to find out specifically what the issue was with the car since Albert was not able to explain the issue due to his lack of understanding. The Hyundai Service manager took thorough notes and was able to convey the issue to the service tech.
In the beginning for the 1st month and a half every time I wanted to know what was going on with the car I would have to call Carmax and wait at a minimum for 45 minutes on hold, leave a message or sometimes get disconnected. Customer service is not a forte of Carmax for sure. After about 5 weeks I was contacted and told that Sacramento Hyundai had found an issue with the head unit which was causing the problem that had been reported and that a new head unit would need to be ordered and that once the unit was received which was expected to take a couple of weeks that the would give me a call once the work was completed.
After I had called CarMax for an update I was told that the head unit had been replaced successfully and that the issue was resolved however after replacing the head unit that Sacramento Hyundai had discovered another NEW issue. The rear backup camera had stopped working. The three other surround cameras worked but the rear camera would no longer function. I was told told that additional time would be needed to troubleshoot why the backup camera was no longer working
Two more weeks go by and I finally receive a call from Carmax and they stated that Sacramento Hyundai figured out why the rear camera was no longer working and that the car’s camera control module was bad and needed to be replaced. I was also told that in spite of the camera working before the car was brought in, there was a discussion on who was going to cover the cost of the part and labor. I was told at that time that Carmax would provide a status when there were new developments.
Another week goes by and I receive a call that the camera control module would be ordered and that Sacramento Hyundai would not be picking up the cost of the parts/labor. After another week the part had come in and the work had been done and I received a call that I could pick the car up. To sum up here is my takeaways from my experience with Carmax and it to state up front my experience was a extremely experience:
CarMax had my car for 90 days to the day. That is way too long and un-called-for It was only after CarMax had my car for two weeks that I said that I would need a loaner car. Albert never divulged that they had loaner cars available and it was only after he had told another customer that they could have a loaner car. There was no reason that I should have to make the suggestion and Albert should had made it known that I could have a loaner car.
Carmax is required to call the customer and provide updates on a regular or daily basis. This did not happen to me. Every time I needed an update I would have to call Carmax, navigate the phone menu and wait on hold for 45 minutes only to get little or no update at all. If you expect Carmax to call you with updates get over that notion because it will not happen.
If you expect Carmax to take care of your car while it is in their possession don’t get your hopes up. Regardless of what make or model of car you have it will be treated the same as the cheapest car in their service or inventory lot. If your car is in service for more than a day THEY WILL park your car in the customer lot (back 40) windows rolled up on a 100 degree day, Your car will bake and get car dents just like any car at Home Depot or Walmart.
My $70,000 car went in with no dents or imperfections and once I received it back it had two dings on opposite sides of the car. The dings were quite obvious so-much-so that Carmax tried to touch the scratches up with a paint that didn’t even match the car’s color. When I pointed this out to Jake in Service his attitude was one of I “don’t care attitude”. It was also clear that the car just backed in the sun as there was spotting on the black leather dashboard where the dash had dried in several spots. Expect scratches and dings when you take your car into Carmax. Also expect your key fob to have numerous scratches and gouges in it after your visit to CarMax. That is just what Carmax does
I had called corporate Carmax headquarters to express my concerns with Carmax having my vehicle in their service department for over 3 months. Don’t waste your time as all corporate will do is take notes and then forward the concerns to the local CarMax will go nowhere. I never got a call from the Sacramento Carmax and don’t even think about leaving a message for the service, general, or any other manager at Carmax. They absolutely will not return a call to you. And if you walk into Carmax to speak to a manager they will always make up an excuse such as the manager is not in, they're on vacation, they are sick, etc.
Customer service is non existent at Sacramento Carmax so set your expectations low at the onset at least you will be less disappointed. Sacramento CarMax has a huge customer service issue. Their employees like Albert, Jake, department managers need to be replaced or restrained because they just don’t care. Other service advisors such as Candyce were great. Although I did not receive a call on a regular basis from Candyce when she did call she relayed information in an understandable and comprehensive manner.
The only two good things that I will say about the Sacramento CarMax which is not specific to that location is: The 30 day car return option is a great policy. The 90 day warranty is a great policy. If it was not for the above two benefits I would not ever consider CarMax again there are just better options available. I certainly will not be recommending CarMax to anyone in the future.

I bought a vehicle through Carmax and they offered the MaxCare warranty (managed by Assurant) which at first sounded like a good deal.... Until I actually needed to use it! I drove my vehicle with my family in it cross country and the transmission started to malfunction, making the vehicle inoperable. I had the vehicle towed to a repair facility and obtained a rental. Maxcare covered the rental for 7 days, then began charging me on the 8th day and hit me with a bill. The rental period is outlined in their contract, fair enough. BUT, Maxcare has been giving the repair facility the runaround for 2 months (60) days now and is requiring every single maintenance record (oil changes, scheduled maintenance, etc, etc, etc) in order for them to even OPEN A CLAIM!
My family has been without this vehicle now for 60 days because Maxcare wants proof of every single oil change as well as all other maintenance performed. Additionally, and probably most importantly, the customer service is very hit and miss. The reps are working from home understandably but some should not (should not be hired to work remotely or should be required to be in an office), because Maxcare is not properly training their employees to work remotely. This is a terrible service and I cannot in good faith recommend it to another human being with a family.

I terminated my MaxCare contract as I am selling the car leaving USA back to Europe. I learned that it takes at least 2 weeks to receive the check, and probably more. Logically, I would be in Europe by then. It seems that Carmax wants you to pay for a car and MaxCare immediately, but they keep your money forever.

My experience with them has been horrible. I was told they cover the clutch by the salesman, they do not. They consider is a wearable item that is expected to go bad even though the pamphlet says, "transmission" on the front page of coverages. They don't cover fluids, bolts, belts, bearings, or the diagnosis fees of the shop that they require before covering the issue. I had to put a thousand dollars on the line in order for the technician to disassemble the transmission before CarMax would say whether or not they would do anything. They they decided to only cover half the labor and some of the parts. I still spent over $1,100 in labor and diagnosis fees to get my car repaired.
That $3,500 warranty I purchased is worthless and I will never buy a car from CarMax ever again. Oh, and they didn't have any available repair appointments for 2 months at CarMax itself even though they touted their amazing repair shop during the sales process, I was told to go to another little shop in another city that honored their warranty. That shop openly admitted that CarMax's warranties are horrible and they always have issues getting them to cover repairs. They even gave me the manager's name for the location I bought my car at and encouraged me to call in and complain about it. Very disappointed.

I cannot say enough times DON'T expect a lick of help, concern, or customer service from CARMAX if your vehicle purchase goes sour ... say for instance, if you happen to buy a car for $15,000 and put $9000 down, then in 2 years you spend MORE than that on repairs and it's still NOT running, don't expect assistance or answers from CARMAX. They will assure you if you bring the lemon car in for an appraisal, they will help you into another vehicle -- but then the appraisal on this $15,000 car you've owned for two years, will come back -- they will even meet you in the parking lot so the customers inside cant hear you scream -- when they cheerfully tell you the vehicle appraisal is ... $2000. Wow that's incredible depreciation for a car you paid $15,000 and spent $17,000 in repairs.
They will finally tenderly let you know -- or a lawyer will -- that you buy every used car "as is". If it's a lemon it's a lemon. If you got ** on this fabulous deal you made with them, even if you purchased the $5000 MAXCARE policy, you're on your own buddy. By the way even though you didn't reach 10 years or 100,000 miles, MAXCARE will stop covering their share of the repairs, because the vehicle YOU BOUGHT FROM CARMAX, has exceeded the maximum payout ... didn't even know that was part of the "deal", did ya. And when CARMAX yanks this review as soon as they see it, I will post another one and another one and another one, under a different account if I have to ... on EVERY social media I can find -- setting up emails is easy easy. I can do this TILL I DIE. The car I bought has died already and I'm still making payments...for real.

They still could not find any record of my deal even with the email verification that I printed out for them but this is why I was approved for a Land Rover for certain purchase price. But when I get there all of the sudden the vehicle is not available but they do have other land rovers that were twice as much money as the original vehicle which I was approved for. CONSUMERS STAY AWAY FROM THIS TYPE OF DECEPTION. YOUR WALLET WILL THANK YOU.

This was the first time purchasing a 2nd hand car that wasn't through an authorized dealership. What drew me to these sorts of online dealerships because their catalog is completely online, so I was able to sort out what I was interested in without the hassle of dealing with a used car salesman at a physical location. In addition, most of the online car dealerships have pretty good value propositions, like 30-day return, 90-day warranty, etc.
I did my extensive research between CarMax, Carvana, and Vroom, and although they all offer pretty much the same policies, I chose CarMax because they had more physical dealerships where you can ship the car you like to test drive before you buy the car. The cost of the car transfer is not redeemable upon purchase, but to me, that was a fair price to pay to make sure the car is without "surprises."
The car took about a week to arrive (SF to LA), and I was able to do a 24-hour test drive. This is another great value proposition most other dealerships don't have that I found useful. I was able to take it to the freeway and back to my home to see how it fits in my garage. I went back after 3 hours and bought the car. After a week my car started making noises whenever I backed up. I took it back to CarMax (the one near mine has a service center) and they fixed it in a day. Also, they provide free Lyft rides, which is convenient so you don't need to wait at the shop. Since the repair was within the 90 day warranty period, they replaced the brakes free of charge. Overall, I'm extremely satisfied and will return if I ever look for another 2nd hand car. Below are some unrelated notes you may find useful:
- CarMax has an optional 5 year warranty plan.- Only vroom cold called once you registered an account with them. All of them will call you if you did a pre-qualification with them.
- CarMax was started by Circuit City, in '93 I believe (experience).
- When you request the 24-hour test drive, sales will push you to buy and use the return policy instead. Resist if you are not sure since opening a financing account will affect your credit score.
- Check your tire PSI (mine had 40 psi in the front right and 30 in the others), motor oil, replace air filters after you buy your 2nd hand car.

I am very upset and I have not had a great experience with Carmax. I have been searching for a car for several weeks and finally I found a car I wanted color blue/grey which was a 2013 Mercedes Benz Sport. Now I had the car shipped to a location near me that I paid $250 for to have that one shipped to me now. I send in all my paperwork that was require before arriving to the dealership. I even received a text reminder letting me know that my appointment was scheduled for 7/8/2021.
In the middle of the night something awoke me and had me to go online to check the status of my vehicle. Once I saw the money was being shipped to a different state. I was very very very upset that I paid and apply for this vehicle to be shipped here at a location near me so when I woke up the next morning I immediately contact the salesman and he told me that yes the car is being shipped out and transferring to another state to another customer and he told me that there was nothing else that he can do for me at this point but refund my money back. I I did not like the tone it was in his voice . H seem like he didn’t even care that I paid and went through all that to have this car shipped to me. He just seem like he didn’t really care at all about me as a customer and my needs.
He told me that the hold on the car was removed mistakenly by another salesman. I don’t know how true that is but I believe that he was lying to me because when I was trying to purchase another vehicle they told me that there was a hold on the car and they couldn’t remove the hold on the car so I don’t believe that he was telling me the truth that the car was removed mistakenly. I believe that he remove that hold himself because I was trying to have the car shipped to another location that was near to me and maybe he wanted to get the credit for the car. I don’t know what it was but I believe that he did it out of spite. From this experience I would not recommend anybody to purchase a car from Carmax because the salesman is lazy and the dishonest people to me. That’s what I see in my eyes right now.

No biggie as it doesn't do it all the time so I got that. What I didn't get was when I did get it on video and along w/ pictures they wanted to change me the deductible from the extended warranty I purchased through CarMax Finance that I said was an issue when I bought the car. I ended up paying $65 for something that still doesn't work all the time. In order to get it fixed I had to go to the dealer and go through the CarMax warranty department.

About 45 days later, we began getting phone calls from the loan department asking us when we were going to make payment on our loan. We gave them information about the payoff repeatedly, but every week, someone else would call. Eventually they finally gave us information that we were able to piece together that the business office received our check, apparently lost it, then found it, then they told us they had sent it back to the credit union, and then they told us no they still had it but that they couldn't cash it.
We have spent hours on the phone trying to help them resolve their errors, and they cannot seem to do it. They run your credit report, give you some 'next step' info but then drop the ball and you never hear from them again. Not good when you're messing with people's credit reports. When there is an inquiry on your credit time is of the essence!! Nothing is done in a timely fashion. It's a long dragged out process and the bank expects you to get insurance on a car you never even seen nevermind don't even actually have!
The advertisement is misleading. They do not actually bring you the car like they say (and I was told). They will only bring it if it's 60 miles WITHIN YOUR STATE. And forget getting someone to help. Took me 3 attempts! Do not buy a car online unless you want to do most of the leg work and have time to waste and don't need a car right away! After all this they have a nerve to charge a transfer fee! It should've been waived along with putting a rush on getting the car to my state, but they make no compromises for your troubles and INCONVENIENCE!

I was extremely pleased with my interaction with CarMax. Received offer online for sale of my vehicle. Went to CarMax location to retrieve offer. I was very honest regarding condition of my vehicle. Even though, I was expecting to get a lower offer after car was inspected. I was very pleasantly surprised when this did not happen. They honored the full amount of the offer, no questions asked. I was on my way in under an hour with check in hand. I highly recommend CarMax.

Carmax was suppose to be a well-known place to buy cars and all you get are lies, lies and more lies. Their drop off program do not work. They don't know how to explain details of what the finance company wants, nor do they communicate with you when it's appropriate. I'm buying a car and no one calls me until afternoon. Yesterday, it was critically urgent, today, we don't care. Carmax from Irving, Texas employees are incompetent and lazy. They cannot seem to get it all together and require 4 people just to sell a car to one person. Very incompetent.

On May 3rd 2021, I used your online appraisal service and clearly notated any and all issues with my 2012 Jeep Liberty which included a FWDR warning light on the dashboard. Your appraisal was $8,000.00. Offer code 6FFVUDDG (Screenshot available). As I had already had a repair shop diagnose the issue with the warning light to be a rear wheel sensor which would cost approximately $470.00 to fix I was curious to see how much Carmax would appraise my car without the warning lights on and that appraisal was $9,000.00 (Screenshot available). My car had also have body work down on the back of the car. Once at Carmax, your mechanic looked over the car and said, "You know you have a warning light on the dashboard?" I said "Yes, I had notated that on your online form". He then said, "You know this car had body work down in the back?" I said, "Yes, I notated that as well on your online form". You then had me waiting for an hour and a half.
Finally, someone comes over and says, "I have your offer, Keep in mind the car is not worth as much because you have a warning light on the dashboard." He then said, "Also this car had body work down in the back." He shows me an offer of only $6,000.00. I said, "That's 20% lower than your online appraisal". He said, "Things are always different in person". Yes, that was an understatement, and I am sure the fact would show this difference is always in favor of Carmax and Not the customer. As I had told this same person in the beginning that I have a new car coming in 2 days I feel he used that information to Carmax's advantage. So now after waiting around for 2 hours I took reluctantly took $2,000.00 less than what your online appraisal offered me.

So I want to start off by saying that I researched CarMax, and other online car dealers 4 months before I made the decision to finally purchase. I read a lot of reviews that were very disheartening, and made me question whether or not my decision was sound. In the end I chose CarMax simply because the amount of negative reviews in recent history was much lower than those of their competitors. Finding the car on their website or in the app is fairly simple, and securing a transfer was all so simple. My transfer was free, that way I did not have to pay anything out of pocket to be able to see the vehicle that I wanted.
Once they had the vehicle it was about 6 days until I was able to view the vehicle and test drive it. During that time they again inspect the vehicle and clean the vehicle, making sure that it's ready. When I got to the dealership, my vehicle was still a little dirty, and I voiced my opinion that to the salesperson that I had and he offered to try and take care of the problem to the best of their ability. I've had the car for over a week now, and I'm very happy with my purchase from CarMax. Everything has been smooth, and the vehicle is just as promised on the website. There were a couple of digital scratches that were not pictured in the app, but they are not enough for me to be unhappy. I will keep it is updated if there happens to be any pickups, but as of right now I am definitely recommending CarMax as a place to shop and buy a used car.

Took it back, two new struts. Still makes noise! They said take it to Kia we can’t find anything wrong, Fred Beans says needs sway bar end links and a passenger side axle. Kia replaced it, Carmax Covered it. Picked up the Kia, dude first tried to charge me 1400$ glad Carmax paid. For in the car all kinds of lights were on, Kia claimed they didn’t see when they moved the car? Well went back in they looked at the car again, well what do you know? It needs ANOTHER Part - a speed sensor. "Go ahead and drive it. We will order it and replace." Ok, on my way home I lost power steering, all kinds of other lights came on! Left it sit in Newport.
Called the next day, had me meet them after work at the car. Was going to get me a rental. What do you know. Some more ** so no rental, no car. This is some 12000 car, huh? Anyways go to Carmax today seeing how Christina wouldn’t return a phone call, they tell me, "We can’t take the car back due to you putting ONLY 4000 on it. Keep in mind, we took this car to Mechanicsburg 10+ and back to the garage, didn’t even take it to (almost) Ohio (1 month ago). We took our older Kia because we knew it with all the noises this 12000 was making.
Okay back to the story, Christina today she can’t take it back and she wants to wait for Fred Beans to determine what’s wrong with it, she actually called Fred beans while I was standing there and he says he thinks all the lights and power steering came on, because of needing a speed sensor! Why did it let me take it home? I have two kids, imagine if something more could have happened! These people are crooks, I’ve seen so many people in at Carmax yelling at these frauds for their ** cars!! DON'T BUY A CAR from Carmax! Or take your Kia to Fred Beans!! Mechanicsburg!!!! Shop at CarMax, they said. The CarMax business Sloan is " BUILT ON A FOUNDATION OF INTEGRITY", they said....It seems to me that the Carmax of Denton did not get the message. On Friday 4/30/21 I was contacted by Tiffany with the Denton Location about my pre-approved loan for a car. After giving me two choices for vehicles I picked the older model vehicle with less mileage. We finalized my financing and Alex informed me I has approval offers from Exeter and COAF. I picked Exeter and agreed to the BuyFromHome Delivery for a down payment of $850 with monthly payments of $276.70 monthly. I was told the car would be transferred from the Plano location to Denton after it was inspected.
Around 12:59 pm, after my financing was chosen I was texted and told “Okay Cindy the walkaround came back all good! You will receive an email with the tracking info when the car ships out.” I asked where I should send my proof of residence, income, and insurance. They sent me a link to upload my paperwork like Carvana. I was impressed with the efficiency at which the process was completed. At 6:18 pm I texted the number and informed the rep I would be sending the requested paperwork the next day. The texted reply was “Perfect! Once the car arrives I will have them reviewed and we can make an appointment for the home delivery.” That afternoon and the next day I got my paperwork together and shopped for insurance.
On 5/1/2021 at 8:45AM, I texted the same number to ask questions about insurance coverage. Then sent the documents in for review. The next morning 5/2/21: I received a text that my vehicle has arrived to the Denton location. That they were working on getting it ready for you and noticed you're anticipating a home delivery! They asked for bank statements showing the deposit and also sent a new link for additional income I had declared. The rep claimed once it was uploaded we can finish the approval process and then move forward to scheduling your delivery.
The information they require was private but well documented in my financial statements but this was not good enough: A rep named Matt called me about my additional income and we agreed to take it off finance application because apparently I did not need it. Matt informed me that he had to run my credit again to find out if I was approved. Of course I was approved again and (good news) I would be paying $3.00 less a month. Then things took a weird turn. Matt informed me that I would need to bring my original paystub with perforated edges or print them out of the dealership. I thought this was an odd request for a home delivery so I asked about it.
This is where the entire experience went horrifically wrong. Matt informs me that he was not aware this was a home delivery. He placed me on hold to ask some questions and then came back apologizing and stating that they could deliver the vehicle the next day. I informed him that I would prefer the delivery be made on 5/8/21 which is my only day off. Matt informed me that this might be possible but the earliest could be the following Tuesday (he seriously said that) but then he said he would have the concierge department call me that afternoon to speak with me. I shared with Matt that the whole idea of my using their BuyFromHome service was not making me feel secure or confident in the purchase of the vehicle. He told me that he would try to rectify this error of miscommunication and mishandling.
Right as I’m getting ready to work Joseph from their concierge department calls me and tells me that the delivery car they used is broken and may not be fixed till Tuesday. I’m offered the limited option of waiting for the delivery or Curbside pickup. Neither of which were convenient for me at all and their delivery vehicle breaking down is not the problem of the customer. I mentioned this to Joseph and his response was it wasn’t his problem either. He then informed me that he would have management call me the next day. I was starting to see a pattern.
The next day I received a text from Denton Carmax at 7:49 AM that said, “Good morning, this is CarMax reaching out on the Sentra you had on hold. Are you available to talk or text?” I was not available at the time but around 9:52AM texted I was available. I received no phone, no text, no voicemail, no email, no smoke signals....zilch. I received a similar message around 2:15PM to which I immediately replied I was available for 30 minutes. There was no response during that 30 minutes. In fact, I had to send a message at around 2:49 pm that I had yet to here from anyone from CarMax today and that Joseph informed me that I would be hearing from management to so far no one has followed up and the car I’m purchasing. Then suddenly, my phone rang at around 3:03pm. I was so livid because I had been misled so far.
I decided the best option as to get this over with by accepting Curbside Pickup just so I could finish this. I let Matt know that under no uncertain terms would I accept anything but the car I am purchasing and reimbursement for the Uber they offered. I figured it would be less stressful. Oh, how I wish I could say this was the case but...The day of pickup 5/8/21 is here. I have received no correspondence from the dealership at all(again). This dealership did not send me updates about the car or anything during the 3 days from the day of pickup. You could imagine my surprise when I text them at about being reimbursed for my Uber service and questions on how to pay my agreed upon down payment. The text sent said: “We will send you a Lyft. You do not have to pay for that at all, we do. As for the down payment you can use cash, debit card, certified funds or personal check.”
I was glad to hear that but then another text was sent saying: “Also we will still need to have the original document for your proof of residence. I know someone spoke with you about that on the phone. Please let me know if you have any questions.” No one from the dealership had bothered to follow up with me and I had not heard from anyone since Wednesday. After some much frustrating texting and finding out my actual lease was not acceptable but the “screenshot” of my bill was good but they “needed the original bill” I was fed up. They offered to call me while sending me a link to upload the pdf since all my billing is done paperless.
As I’m uploading my pdf to the email, Matt called me stating that the stipulations from Exeter want original information provided. He also mentioned that I only need my original copy of my energy bill and my down payment and we’re done. I asked for the corporate number because the incompetence of this entire ordeal started to seem like a bait-and-switch. Otherwise why claim in text that you can setup home delivery when you can’t? Why would you not follow up with the customer about information required for the auto financing they are approved for? Why wait for the day of pickup to create excuses and havoc? They tried to apologize but I let them know that there apologize to me would be a reprimand from their corporate office that I would be writing to.
Shortly after, I received another text for Nat ** saying: “This is Nat ** the Location General Manager at the Carmax in Denton. At this time we will only be able to correspond via telephone. If you'd like I or one of my Managers will call you but we will no longer respond via text. Thank you”. I responded by saying, If there are no further issues then we do not need to correspond via text otherwise I would suggest you make certain I am contacted immediately. I let him that I would be sending this information to corporate office.
The dealership also kept texting me that they had sent me an E-Pay Link for my down payment that I never received. Nat ** did call me while I was sharing this horrible experience with my friends and family. This man was disrespectful and did nothing to de-escalate the issue. He took no responsibility for the incompetence of his dealership, decided to speak over me as if he was annoyed and refused to stop when asked. In fact Mr. ** told me point blank he would not stop talking over me and canceled the sale without permission.
I immediately called the Irving headquarters. I spoke to Brittany who offered to help by passing me to her sales rep, ?Laurie?. Laurie told me she would call the store to see if they sold my purchase or still had it as a hold. I asked her to update me and as of now 10:00PM I have heard nothing from their location. This whole situation was disappointing and unnecessary. A complete waste of time.

My eye opening experience >> I thought I’d give Carmax and the whole online car buying thing a try. Oh Wow!! After reserving a vehicle they send you a bunch of messages/emails saying that the car is reserved just for you! Someone will call you 10 min later. Get all your info. (I feel like it is how they build their database up. Info=money.) They spend 20 min of your valuable time asking questions then they say, "oh whoops. Looks like someone else reserved the car." (The same car that is reserved just for you?) They followed up by telling me there is a weak spot in their software system where they have to cancel your hold on the vehicle to do a transfer and in the 2 secs it takes to click the mouse someone else reserved it. Why cancel it? It’s 2021. How can you have such a flawed system? This is the same system that I assume contains all of your personal info.
Then they say, "Let me check my database to see what else we have." (Do they even have the car I reserved?) Then they offer me something twice the mileage, not the same trim package and the same price as the one half the mileage. Ok what? Why would I do that?. I admit it. They got me but never again and I hope if anything as a consumer YOU HEED THIS ADVICE and SAVE YOURSELF THE TROUBLE. I was wary of the whole online car sales business model and now I know why as with everything on the internet there is a catch. I’m speechless. Then I took them up on the 3 day offer of switching financing companies. I was able to come up with the down payment that the bank wanted. Overall simply by changing my apr by approximately 4 to 5 points changed my payment by a hundred dollars. Throughout the entire process everyone was great. I would recommend this company.

After some research, I decided on CARMAX for a second-hand vehicle purchase, based on reviews and their "no-haggle" policy. I paid to have a 2014 Toyota Sienna shipped to the dealer nearest my location, which is combined 1.5 hours by train and Lyft/Uber. I found their customer service very good, with excellent systems in place pre-shipment, with helpful explanations about the process. Similarly, when I went to view and test-drive the car I found the service good. On inspecting the vehicle I found that both front tires had what I considered to be excessive wear; the salesperson agreed that the service department should take a look.
During the test drive, I found the brakes spongy and less responsive than safe for a large, heavy vehicle that would be transporting my family. Again, the salesperson agreed that he would have the service department take a look and get back to me. He wrote "brakes" and "tires" on the paperwork. And then...nothing. I never heard another word from anyone at CARMAX. All the excellent systems went quiet. I can only speculate that they decided that, having had the minivan shipped to this location, close to a large market like NYC, they'd sell it to next, possibly less careful consumer. The experience made me question whether their marketing about safety checks and service is more hype than substance.

After researching Carmax more we spotted a Lincoln Continental in California that would be shipped to Reno for no charge and a test drive. Apparently people pay to have a car shipped that they are not going to purchase.
When conveying my disappointment about the process, their attitude was pretty much "OH Well!". Not crazy about moving forward, but I've already paid to have the car shipped. Now I'm looking forward to spending hours at the dealership doing paperwork that could have been completed days ago and dealing with salespeople (everything I was trying to avoid). CarMax has made it clear that they can care less, basically letting me know that they will just sell the car to someone else. Carmax advertises that they only sell the best, cars goes through a rigorous inspection and that they offer no haggle pricing. This implies that the car purchased, that is listed $1,000+ than KBB, is worth the extra money because they have taken the hassle of inspections and pushy salespeople. Within the first week, my car started having issues. I call to make an appointment with service and the earliest time available is about 2 weeks. Now I'm stuck with a car with some very odd rattling and spewing sounds from under the hood, and the car is having trouble starting some days.
So I make an appointment to test drive other vehicles in hopes I can just return this one and get into a vehicle that isn't in need of repair. I have no luck finding another car, as most of the vehicles on the lot were already reserved for a test drive/purchase. Out of frustration I am ready for my money back so I don't feel rushed into purchasing another car and can find someplace else to buy one. They cannot even take the vehicle back because I purchased it in another state and it's past the 7 days. To me, CarMax is CarMax so I should be able to return it to any of them, apparently not. So I had to drive home in a car that may or may not work tomorrow.
Well the CarMax dealership from out of state calls me the next day. I start to tell him what was wrong, he gets frustrated and starts angrily talking to me and cuts me off when I start explaining my impression of CarMax and the experience I was actually going through and how they did not marry up. He then rudely states I am not going to be without a car. Who the heck knows what car I may end up with when service can FINALLY look at it.
The customer service after purchasing a vehicle at CarMax is poor, they do not want to listen to you they only want you to listen to them. From the managers to the customer service personnel. My experience over the last week and half has been so unsettling that I never want to see another CarMax again. I will never buy another car from a CarMax and my family will never purchase from this place either. Future buyers beware, you may be better off doing your own due diligence instead of relying on this company to do it.

I wanted to write a review after my recent purchase of a vehicle from Carmax. The only reason I didn’t give this review a 1 star is because I enjoyed working with my Sales person David. Otherwise, this was a 1 star. I placed a transfer on 2/6/21 and was told it would take 2/12/21 to be received, which was fine with me. I arranged a day off thinking it would be available for 24 hour test drive that day. I received an update that it was received 2/12 and they were going through the inspection. They would notify me when it was complete that day. Never received a call on 2/12 after taking off, so I called on 2/13. I was told it wouldn’t be ready until Monday and they would call. Again, never received a call.
I called again on 2/15 to be told it still wasn’t done. I called back again on 2/16 and was told a completely different story. All during this time I called into the customer care # at 1-800-519-1511 multiple times to have someone follow up with me. On 3 different occasions and 3 different employees I was told they would follow up with me on the status. Do you think I received a single call, nope! So eventually the vehicle finally was inspected and title was received on 2/18. I schedule an appointment to setup the 24 test drive for Saturday 2/20.
Although the vehicle has been there since 2/12 and they knew I had a scheduled appointment it wasn’t prepped for a test drive. Not only that, but it was snowed in and it took them almost 2 hours to get the vehicle out. This shows lack of preparation, lack of respect for your customer's times and just careless. What is the point of having an appointment if nothing is ready. The vehicle was never wiped down or cleaned prior to the test drive, which they say they do especially with Covid. So I was really annoyed at this point as I have wasted so much time. In the end I really liked the truck so I went back and bought the truck Sunday 2/21 also being there for almost 2 hours.
While I was there I pointed on a few things on the truck and was told that it would be taken care of. This included missing headlamp cover, cleanliness and a few other missing items. Fast forward, I complete the paperwork and was told the truck was ready. Yes, they washed the outside but again the inside was filthy. They certainly didn’t clean the inside like I was told as I found crumbs, wrappers and other items under the seats, in the dash, and many other places. I am also sure it wasn’t sanitized as well. So now I am having a detailed come out to clean and sanitize the inside costing me over $200. Also, they never replaced the part for the headlamp, so again I am bought the part costing me over $120. Just an overall terrible experience and customer service!

The way car buying should not be. We found a car online at Carmax and sent a request. In a little while someone texted me from Carmax. We chatted for a little while and decided to reserve the vehicle for a test drive. I was told that it was reserved for me. I specifically asked again if it would be available when we arrived. I was assured that it would be, it was reserved for me at 7:15 Friday evening. Friday evening the traffic was heavy, it was raining, we drove 45 minutes to get to Carmax. Within a few minutes of speaking with our sales person we were told that the car was being transferred, there was nothing they could do. The sales person saw our conversation on the screen and my specific question about availability. Apparently the girl did not reserve it or the system failed. We were pretty irritated and swore never to use Carmax again.
We cooled off, found another car at Carmax. We decided to try again. Carmax shipped a car in for us to NC from PA, no charge due to the mixup. Anyway when it arrived it is supposed to be detailed and checked out. We went down to do a test drive, it was raining again. We wanted to do the 24 hour test drive but since we didn't have our complete insurance declaration we could only do a 20 min. drive. We liked the car, we decided that we would purchase it and if we found something later we could return it. We traded our car and gave them 5k cash and financed the rest. The next morning once the car had dried we found multiple scratches all over the car, looked like from shipping. We were pretty let down. This should have been found by whoever checked it in.
We contemplated returning it, the navigation system locked up frequently, it idled rough and had all the scratches. We called Carmax and they asked us to bring it down to look at the scratches. The service manager asked my wife to drop it off on Sunday and assured her they would go over the car with a fine tooth comb. They would detail it and fix the scratches. No worries. We drove down again on Sunday, dropped off the car, now 3 trips 45 min away. Monday they called and said the car was ready, then changed it to ready in an hour and a half. We told them no rush, take your time we want it done right, we will be there on Tuesday. We went down on Tuesday now 4 trips.
We went in and got the keys, went to get the car. None of the scratches had been fixed, it was covered in a powder I am assuming from trying to buff out the scratches and it had not been detailed. Of course we had to get the service people out to look at it. We were told, "Oh I'm sorry, we will get it now, might not be able to get the big scratches and we will run it through the wash." What? We were very irritated again. Of course we had to see the same service manager again, who told us not to worry, he told us the scratches were too big, they didn't meet some criteria for something. Our options from him were to accept it or return the car.
We returned the car right then. But we were only given a check for our trade in, they said the cash would come in 7-10 days. We were down one car because we traded it to them, now they were keeping 5k of our down payment for 7-10 days. We don't have our full downpayment for another car, but they have our trade in and cash. So Carmax dropped the ball several times at our expense. I have to say smiling and being nice the whole way. I cannot recommend them. We went out of our way to make it work, but in the end were worse off than when we started, down a car, down a down payment and 4 trips - 45 min each way. I sure hope the guy who started this company because his daughter had a bad experience at a dealership knows what is going on at Carmax now.

Should've went with my gut. Today, I went to wipe down the windows and mirrors (after all the rain we had), the driver's side mirror felt loose, and when I closed the door, it dropped off and of course shattered. Amazed that the price jumped overnight after I inquired about the car through your chat service. I called the dealership to start the process of transferring it and to confirm the price. Sure as heck, the new price is the new price. That's dirty. Carmax already overcharges for vehicles, but to increase the price after somebody starts an inquiry into that vehicle is an all time low.

He was very knowledgeable and we were quickly able to narrow my search. He's got a great memory so he helped me remember what I liked and didn't like. Over several weeks he located various vehicles for me, had them transferred, and set me up for 24 hour test drives. I am very picky and Travis had extreme patience. Travis always promptly returned my texts, phone calls, and emails. Travis always made sure the vehicles I wanted to see were clean and warmed up when I arrived for my scheduled pick up time.
When I wanted to compare a Lexus RX 350 base trim to an F Sport, Travis went above and beyond and had them both cleaned and parked side by side for me to easily compare the two trims. Travis is not the typical pushy/annoying car sales person. Travis is easy to work with and truly listens to his clients. I bought a car at CarMax in Lexington KY. I provided a PO to get the title since I am a TN resident. After several weeks the title did not come. I called the business office. I was informed that since their regular mail service—Federal Express— does not deliver to PO Boxes the title to my car was just dropped in the regular mail with no tracking. The title is now lost in the mail. I cannot register for a car tag. My insurance said if I damage the car or it is stolen they will not pay for it because technically the car belongs to CarMax. I called the Lexington KY CarMax business office. The woman from Purchasing was so rude to me. She said I asked for the title to be sent to my PO Box and that is exactly what they did.
She stated that CarMax was not responsible for the lost title nor did CarMax really care about the title. Now a new title must be obtained. It is going to take a long time. If CarMax had told me there was no tracking on mail to PO Boxes I would have had the title sent to my street address. No one told me —and now the title is in limbo and I am not sure if CarMax will ever send it so I can get the title transferred and register the car. I live 10 hours from where I need to do the registration. I took vacation to get this done. The woman in Purchasing stated this was not her problem and I could figure all this out myself because CarMax is not responsible for the title lost in the mail with no tracking. I find it totally irresponsible that a document as important as a car title was not sent in the mail with tracking.

First, when you did a hard check on my credit without my permission. Second, I schedule a test drive in your Maple Shade location online, I got a VM from one of your people confirming my appt. I even called your number to inform that I'll be an hour late and to check if the vehicle that I reserved is still in your lot, which of course the person I was talking to, Allison, said that it's ok if I'm an hour late, that she'll move my appt time, and that the Kia Niro 2018 I reserved is still in your lot.
At 5pm, I got to your maple shade location, the person at the front told me I don't have an appt, that my name is not on the list. I waited for an hour!!! So when finally someone approached me to help me, his name is Bob. I told him about the disconnect that you have when it comes to scheduling appts. Bob even said, my info was not in your system, and he had to put them all in. He then got me the keys, I test drove the 2018 Kia Niro Touring. He explained everything, I got the buyer's order to present to my bank.
Then I asked to have the car delivered to my home. He tells me, "We don't do that." Like, it's on your website!!! So he asked a lady in the back, he came back to the table and explained that he is only part-timer and these were all new to him and he said to contact CEC to transfer the car to Turnersville, then from Turnersville it will be delivered to my home. So great!
After a day, I tried to transfer the car using your website and the link on my email. It was not letting me transfer. It says no longer available, but the car was reserved for me, my name, on my Carmax profile. I don't understand. So I called, I spoke with Steven. Guess what, he asked all my info again because it's not in your system. Like, this is ridiculous! Basically, I told him to ship the car to Turnersville, then have it delivered to my house. I took pictures of my ID, selfie, and check. The car was shipped to Turnersville. Then I saw on the email, schedule a test drive. Why the heck should I schedule a test drive, I already did! Beware of transfers and make sure you follow up with them regularly or they will give your vehicle away... I found a vehicle online and it showed that it was available so I requested to put it on hold. A few hours later I received a call from a Carmax employee who walked me through the process. I had another vehicle on hold and I no longer wanted that vehicle so he removed the transfer for that vehicle (it hadn't shipped yet) and put a hold and transfer request on the new vehicle I wanted (or so I thought). I received another call that same evening where the same Carmax employee informed me that because of the Hurricane that passed through a few days prior, that store was closed (this was a Saturday) but the vehicle would remain on hold and they would contact me Monday when the store re-opened to finish the process.
Monday and Tuesday went by, no call. I called Wednesday and spoke with a young lady who pulled up the transfer and said the car was unavailable. She did some more digging and called the store where the car was located and they told her it was placed on hold...but for another customer. Allegedly, the salesperson that did it was not available at the time so she promised to get back to me to find out what happened. 2 more days go by, no one calls. I call back on Friday, speak to another individual who puts me on hold twice to go talk to his manager...and then I get disconnected.
Chalk this one up as a loss...still looking for a vehicle but so far, not a good experience with the transfer. Also, the 1st vehicle I had on hold that was supposed to have been cancelled, never got cancelled so I had to call again and tell them to cancel that. Supposedly it has been, but I have no way of knowing if they did their job or not. Make sure you follow up with them repeatedly or you will be stuck waiting for a vehicle that may never be arriving.

This is the worst experience I've had buying a vehicle in 48 yrs!!! I purchased a 2017 yellow/black Camaro Ls with 13k miles on July 28th from the Plano Tx branch! I found the car online and had to front 200 dollars to ship from NM to TX! When I picked the car up I immediately noticed the clutch was short in first gear, typical sign of a worn clutch! Over the next three days test driving it I noticed a burning smell from the underbody and the car would cut off at times in shifting to first from a dead stop!
I took the car to a local Chevy dealer to have it checked on Aug 3rd and as of today aug 21st my vehicle is still there! Turns out the vehicle needs a whole clutch kit including flywheel!! Although there is 1 yr remaining on the manufacturer's warranty, this repair wouldnt be covered because of previous owner neglect! Ok so Carmax agreed to foot the bill because after all how do you sell a car claiming a 150 point inspection and miss the entire transmission lolol... The service manager was so lackadaisical and nonchalant as he said, "Whatta ya want? A free oil change or something???" I got the sales manager to at least refund my 200 transfer fee for the vehicle, small victories matter!!
Now to be totally fair the sheer incompetence of carmax actually benefited me to the point I'm going to wait for my vehicle to be repaired however long this mess takes!! You see, they sold me the vehicle as a base model Ls for 23,998 standard pricing to all the others Ls models on the website but what they never noticed is that my vehicle is actually an A1x/1Le track package with many upgrades over the standard Ls including an upgraded 6cyl engine vs the 4ltr turbo, 20 inch black wheels with eagle F1 run-flats, 4 piston Brembo brake calipers, rear spoiler, satin wrapped black hood (specific to the 1Le track edition), double dual (4 pipes vs 2) performance exhaust, upgraded track suspension with reimbursed sway bars, extra cooling system all because some incompetent person saw chevy list Ls as the beginning model but were too lazy to read the profile and examine the actual vehicle lmao!!
Nevertheless I will never never purchase nor refer anyone to this puppy mill of a so-called dealership!! Do yourself a favor and just go to the actual dealer! I don't have a choice being I got the vehicle for at least 6k under value and not to mention carmax is footing the 4800 chevy repair bill lolol!!

I know what CarMax’s core values are, so why do so many of your SENIOR MANAGERS specifically at (CarMax Burbank/Hollywood) lack the ability to resolve an issue that has been going on for over 6 months. My customer service experience with this location is saturated with ego from those who “claim” to be helping me. I’ve noticed all the NEW marketing CarMax is putting into the world. Sooo enthusiastic about getting people in the door. Sooo passionate about having a no haggle, transparent efficient buying process and yet Sooo DISRESPECTFUL when the car that you (CarMax) bought & resold to a customer needs service.
WHAT ABOUT CUSTOMER RETENTION? All customers are valuable to your business. Their behavior at this location is unacceptable. I am not a person who writes service reviews, but the disrespect I’ve received for the past 6 months of my life is wildly disappointing because I have always associated CARMAX with convenience & quality service. As it turns out, thats clearly not the case for everyone.
I purchased a Dark Red 2016 Jeep Patriot from (CarMax Burbank, California) on Friday.March 22.2019. Upon purchase the Jeep had roughly 8,000 miles on it and “CLAIMED” to have no recalls. Less than one year later my Airbag warning light comes on and the saga begins. I Dropped my car off for the first time for service at (CarMax Burbank, California) Store#7126 Tuesday.February.25.2020.
Just to be clear today is (Thursday.August.6.2020). I picked up my car finally after 100 times of going back and forth to the dealership. Dealership: “your good to go”? Me: turns on car and AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT is still in full affect. Dealership: “Oh let us tighten some things up.” What??? I don’t understand how a corporation that prides itself on quality service and exists in a world full of car buying options, could treat customers so poorly. Unfortunately, reading various reviews on this (Top Fortune 500) company, I realize that I am not the only one dealing with this issue. So I must be speak out!
I’ve been in and mostly out of my car for roughly: (6 months). In that time I paid: ($2,5000) toward my auto loan, ($850) in auto insurance in Los Angeles, ($300) April.22.20 for Registration. Not to mention 6 months after purchasing the car I had to replace all 4 tires ($1,000). Every 3,000 miles I changed the oil, either at (CarMax Burbank, California or Jiffy Lube Glendale, California). And to top it all off. Everyone involved (Car Max Corporate & CarMax Burbank California service team and ALL MEMBERS OF THEIR SENIOR MANAGEMENT TEAM) have definitely dropped the ball and won’t pick it back up because of everybody’s extreme ego!!?♀️
I’m disappointed in the way I am being handled. I spoke with the service manager (OMÄR) 1 time after I hassled corporate to have a senior manager call me. He was insultingly passive about getting me safely back on the road. What are YOU there for if you can’t figure out a way to solve our issue??? I’m fully aware that (CarMax Burbank, California) can easily resolve this entire situation but they won’t because obviously customer retention is not a focus. But... I thought CARMAX was the way car buying should be??? I thought wrong. ???

I don’t have the best credit in the world, not even from credit or debt, but knew I was looking at less than desirable options. Long story short I wasn’t running my credit multiple times to give the same people the same info just on a different car. The man says something along the lines of it shows as auto finance and you have like a week to run info (don’t quote me) but basically saying it won’t show the multiple inquiries. According to my credit report and multiple letters from the same companies.. Lies! I test drove the 2017 Sonata And the front right tire was low in air, and obviously I bring that up seeing as they replaced the back tires already. Says it’s from sitting etc etc etc.
They will also tell you anything you want to hear to get what they want from you, ESPECIALLY THE MAXCARE add-on policy. It couldn’t be more obvious they receive commission, it was a bit overkill in the amount of times I declined it and said I don’t need it (car had 20000 miles and came with factory limited warranty). Everything I said was met with a ridiculous counter reason why I need to get it. At the end of the day I got it to get off the never ending back and forth, simply for the fact he said I can cancel at any time for a prorated refund and they’d mail me a check. (Yet to be verified) but I read my paperwork after leaving and it states that the canceled prorated amount will go to the FINANCER! Where is the line these people can’t cross? To flat out lie and trick people for your own gain, you shouldn’t be in business.
After going with the lender that didn’t want 6000 down I needed my social security card, I called prior to find out what I needed to bring since I knew I’d be leaving there with a car and wanted to do everything the same day. Call center says it depends, and I asked for every possibility. So needless to say that wasn’t one of them and had everything but that. I took the hour drive home to grab it but not before making sure everything was finalized to the point where all I’d have to do I when I come back is pay the 2600 down and give my social. When I get back they’re now pretty busy. They said we’d have to wait. Well what are you gonna do (even though I tried to avoid this prior to apt by calling).
After half hour or so someone else comes up and finishes with me but it felt like they suckered me into signing my name, guy got his commission off me, deal is basically done, so now I’m useless to their benefit. It was a dragged out ending to a stressful day and there wasn’t a single apparent reason to why I waited 45 mins for them to bring the car around. Claimed it would be filled up, Oil changed and this and that... well I think y’all know the answer to if they Filled the tank. No, no they didn’t and he says they steam cleaned the mats because they were dirty, ( they were not at all dirty) even though it was rainy earlier that day I test drove the car in the late morning and they were absolutely fine. Which neither would matter if they had done something worth 45 mins of time I waited after being there all damn day.
Finally I get the car brought out to me. I reminded the second guy about the tire and was told if the air doesn’t stay in it now that it’s been filled up I can bring it back and they will replace or fix it. Wish there was another Carmax nearby because as one would guess the tire only kept the air for about a week with the PSI ranging Up or down a few, depending on how hot it was outside, but now it is at 26 from 32 and going back there is the last thing I want to do but then I would get to ask about the carpet being soaked and my missing gas fill up and the oil change that wasn’t changed.
What really grinded my gears was to get in, kick my shoes off ready to drive home and the rug is soaking wet!!! I swear they did this on purpose to be **. The other rugs weren’t even damp or wet and moisture made the windows constantly fog for the hour ride home, which also brought to my attention an odd film like coating on the outside of the windows. I had to get the car detailed the next day. How do I drive off the lot with a car that’s worse than when I test drove? Overall it was a very unpleasant experience and there wasn’t any reason for it. The company could do a lot better if it took some accountability and cut the shady crap out.

Purchased a 2018 Jeep Compass for our daughter on 07/01/2020. On the drive home (meanwhile we live a hour and a half away from the Lancaster co. CarMax where we purchased vehicle) on the ride home we noticed a vibration and a loud hum coming from under vehicle when you reach speeds of 45 mph. And above. Contacted CarMax the next day. Was told it is under warranty for 90 days and it still has balance of 3 year factory warranty. Options was bring it back a hour and half drive or to a Jeep dealer 10 minutes from my home. Dealer was the choice.
Upon inspection of vehicle it was determined that front driver side and passenger rear hub bearings were no good. The vehicle only has 6,300 miles on odometer. Vehicle repaired dealer says very hazardous for it to be driven that distance on bad hub bearings. Contacted CarMax Lancaster Pa. Stated to me it is good that it was still under warranty so it did not cost you nothing. But no explanation on how it has brand new. PA. Inspection stickers on vehicle. How did it pass?
Long story short sent email to corporate and crickets. Buyer beware. They get your money you are a memory. CarMax does not return phone call complaints or email complaints unless you put hold on check which I did not do. I put my trust and faith behind them. What a mistake. Dealer also stated there is no way a qualified auto technician could let that pass inspection. CarMax has serious customer service issues. Would have given no stars it would not let me. Whenever your daughter and wife are in a unsafe vehicle you would understand. 0 stars.

The sales staff was good but the management and business office stink! After 15 minutes I went to the window and asked if we were going to get to pay for the vehicle today. I then saw the salesman and told him I could take the cashiers check back unless we got some service. After another five minutes I said in two minutes I was going to ask for the manager. I counted the 120 seconds and asked for the manager. When he came I asked if waiting 22 minutes to pay for a car today was acceptable when we committed to buy it yesterday but the vehicle had to be bobbed for fleas. He said he’d talk to the business manager.
When he came he said there had been two customers in front of us; one at a desk I’d seen and one in the business office. I asked if the one in the office was working with someone remotely because there was no one in there but employees. He said no, there had been a lady in there. This was blatantly untrue! I promised him to post this on social media. If we had not been getting it for my wife and she loved the truck I would have walked out. As it is I promised to post about it on as much social media as I could. So it is here and other places. I will never go back to Carmax. If he had apologized and accepted responsibility it may have been otherwise.

DO NOT BUY from them!! We bought a Lexus from them 2 years ago that they said hit a pothole in NYC. That is how they justified the Carmax. So I was okay with that, but to come to find after the 7 days of return. It was not the case and they would not take it back. SO.... They did fix the front end suspension and replaced the front tires with new tires ones. NOW, with this "Cares Act" they are suppose to give 3 months of no payments. They did NOT do that and misled me to that they did. First customers service said they didn't but then a manager was listening and came on to say they did. BUT I had to make the first payment then they would alternate between months.
Long story short as of June they waived 1 months payment and I have made two payments and a manager would not take OR return my call. Customer service said that they stopped the service and since I am not delinquent of 60 days or more my payment cannot be waived. I said would you turn me into collections and charge late fees they said "Yes." Carmax sent me a letter saying of being delinquent from MAY, not June. May was the payment they were to waive. I Recently purchased a Mercedes-Benz from this location. I was so happy! The process took all day and did not get in vehicle till almost midnight. After getting in car I saw a broken console and 25. min later my service engine light came on. Told associate immediately what happened! Three days later I was able to get car in shop. First day they said they would take care of it. Few hours later I get a call asking did I hit an animal.. They said it was blood on car and trim damage. I said how could and 25 min later after pulling off I sent a text about the light coming on.
The next day I receive a call saying the turbo boost was low and the body damage and they wouldn't work on the car until the body damage was fixed and it was fluid leaks. The next day I get a call accusing me of damaging the car and that I must have my insurance pay for a car that I didn't damage. When I turned the car in shop there was no leaking and no one mentioned any leaking while it sat in front of the repair for almost an hour and I would assume with it being a repair shop that would be the first thing said and noticed. I was also told my car was inspected June 1 but I didn't purchase it till the 20th, so for 19 days my car sat in a lot being moved around by test drivers and employees. I only had 20 min with my dream car before it became a potential nightmare.
I am still at lost for words and feel like I was completely scammed by a company that I trusted and my family has been trusting as well. I did end up going up there to talk to the Manager of the whole location as well as the one in charge of repairs. The verdict is still up in the air and now I have the whole weekend to dread the decision I shouldn't have to face in the first place. I was promised a fair and well thorough investigation and hope that I do receive that! It could be worse though I guess I was given a loaner but it's nowhere to the standards Of my Mercedes-Benz I purchased. Before buying a car here please make sure you inspect everything. The check engine light came on during inspection and we don't have the correct equipment here to diagnose and fix the issue so we need to send the car to the manufacturer dealerships to have them look at it. In the meantime we will put you into a loaner vehicle until your new old car is fixed." While I am happy they provided a loaner car for me to use I am not happy about having to drive almost 2 hours back to Carmax to pick up my new to me vehicle. The only problem I had with ordering it to be delivered to the onsite, was it didn't have every item on the list, especially cruise control. But the price was right, and I bought it. Carmax helped me establish a reasonable price for a used Toyota Camry. I also could explore the options available or not available for that model. I could look at safety standards (air bags) and also see if I could afford to upgrade to an Avalon. Most important: no pressure! As a minority woman car shopping in Central Texas, CarMax was invaluable to me having a decent experience buying a good, reliable used car.

Request a Carfax mileage and accident check. Also check car body for previous repair and check for interior wear and tear and don't forget to check tire wear for alignment problems. There is no price negotiation so be prepared to say, "Yes or No," based on book value and condition. When arranging financing make certain you know your credit score and check closely the interest rates before you sign.

Due to COVID, I purchased the car online. The salesman was very nice and helpful in getting my financing and documentation verified in advance. However, I later found that he had never even seen the vehicle I was sold. Despite having an appointment to finalize my purchase, the paperwork was very quick, but it took almost 2 hours to produce my car. When asked about the delay, I was told the vehicle had so many cosmetic issues, they never had time to do the standard detailing, etc. I completely understand that due to COVID, they are operating with limited staff, for their employees' safety, which I support. However, I would have been willing to wait for proper service, had I been told they needed extra time.
Additionally, the car came with generic (the cheapest quality produced) floor mats, that did not fit the car, and slid all over the floor (the online picture showed a pristine car with factory mats). When I brought this to my salesman’s attention, he assured me that was not typical and would be remedied. The general manager finally contacted me days later - their remedy was to sell me floor mats at cost, and that it was standard procedure to replace bad mats with whatever generic (crap) they have on hand! I was also offered free detailing, when they were fully aware I live 3 hours from the nearest dealership.

Unfortunately, this was an absolutely horrible experience. From the time I went to purchase this vehicle in Davie, FL (4 hours away) on 2/9/2020 until now. I have driven the car for less than 2 days! I was lied about the condition of the vehicle, what would be done to fix it, and god only knows what else. When I went to purchase the vehicle, I asked how much damage was on the car. (Rock chips, scratches, dents, dings, etc) I was told by the sales lady at the Sanford location that they did a walk around and stated no issues. (She later stated it was impossible for a 2014 to not be damaged) which we all know is an IGNORANT response.
When I arrived in Davie, FL at the CarMax there I met with a salesman who seemed rather nice (Toooo nice) and wanted to speed through the process. (Redflag 1). The car that I WAS PURCHASING was in the dark, not washed, and looks like it was done on purpose. The first thing I noticed was the headlights being foggy, then hairline scratches underneath the clear coat. I know this kind of damage can't be repaired by buffing but I bring it up to the salesman who states he would have it all fixed (including headlights) when I arrive back in Central Florida. He assured me and over and over that it went through the 125+ point inspection and it was a GREAT CAR! I asked him again about the vehicle as I need something dependable to take my mother to cancer treatments etc..
Upon going over the car, there were a few other things and he stated the same thing. Great, as much as I'm peeved by it, I have been wanting this M235i for quite some time. After the paperwork was done, I walk outside and they drove my car through a carwash tunnel vs handwashing it and detailing it. (Talk about lazy!) I was told by salesman that CarMax was cheap and they got rid of the detail department as a whole. He was not lying! They had to aim headlights at my car from another vehicle so they could see it to dry it! Glass was still dirty, the interior was disgusting, it was a mess and there was no offer to get it detailed.
Fast forward. The following day I am on my way home from picking my mother up at her treatment. It was at this moment I have one of the scariest moments driving a vehicle. We are cruising the speed limit when the vehicle immediately loses almost all of its power and goes into what they call limp mode. The car goes from around 65 miles an hour to 40. Scarier yet is I have a fully loaded dump truck behind me which almost slams into my mother and I in this car. Now, I would have possibly survived with severe injury but my 70-year-old mother would have been hurt critically! Scared the ** out of me!
Immediately following this I reach out to my sales lady in Sanford and tell her what happened and asked when service would be open? She doesn't give a ** if we are okay, how my mother is, just that the service center is open at 7 pm. So, I share some words with her and then take the vehicle in at around 7:30 am the next morning. Around 2/3 hours later the service advisor comes out and tells me the charge pipe was destroyed and it was common. I asked her if it was so common, why did they not check it as part of the 125 point inspection. She hinted that they should have but didn't put the dealership into complete liability mode.
Now, as I have 7 days to return it I reached out to CarMax and it's the executive team to see if they could help locate me a car that has actually been checked. I had several people reach out and none of them would help. Enter the CARMAX EXPERIENCE. During the time that I am reaching out to them, they advise me that since they are helping me with this car that they would not help locate me another car. Then in one email, I was told they WOULD help me with finding a car then 1 paragraph later told they would not. (I can provide the email).
They then agreed to fix the car properly (bodywork) etc... so I went to pick up my vehicle. LO AND BEHOLD my car was damaged on the rear deck lid, front right wheel, the headlights they were supposed to repair they did a horrible job, I had scratches on the door handle and side of the car, and WAIT FOLKS - IT GETS BETTER (They had wet sanded and BURNED MY PAINT) trying to get the hairline scratches out of the paint! Too bad, I can't provide my YT to see the videos, it's hideous what they did.
I asked the sales manager to take a look and he refused to take a look at it. He was a complete **. I immediately send the video and photos to the service manager who stated he would fix all of the issues, have this in email. The car is now at the body shop where it's been since last week. I also received a call the next day after dropping it off. They had pulled the underbelly off and oil poured out all over the place from various points on the car. They advised me that seals were incorrectly installed and they could not explain where the rest of the leaks were coming from. This is a CARMAX car that went through this rigorous 125+ inspection!
There are no cars at the moment that have the same equipment as mine and that aren't destroyed. I have asked that my vehicle be made safe, have the frame checked to make sure it's not bent, and for CARMAX to perform all the repairs they promised in an email that they would perform. At this time they have refused to do so only telling me to make a decision RIGHT NOW on what to do. I did make a decision, as long as the car comes out straight on the machine and the body shop feels they can make it right, they send it to BMW for all of the oil pouring out from under my car, then I'll stay with my vehicle.
I have received nothing but threatening emails telling me I better return or else. I have been treated like I did something wrong when it's their fault. The fact they sold me an unsafe vehicle that wasn't checked properly, in my opinion, speaks volumes. A car buying experience is supposed to be fun and enjoyable. This has been an utter nightmare. I have not included everything here because I only have so many characters, but trust me it gets worse!

I was at Carmax yesterday to see what they would give me for the Land Rover I bought in November, yes I've had it for only 2 months. Which I had to replace when I got to Florida. I have yet to see any reimbursement money from that. It's been in the shop 4 or 5 times and I just picked it up yesterday after they had it for 2 weeks. They gave me standard textbook appraisal and that leaves me about 9k upside down.
I asked them if I could just be free from the vehicle considering all the issues I've had to include a coolant leak where they had to replace the radiator. So needless to say, this was my 2nd vehicle I bought from them and it will be my last. Carmax vehicles are also WAY overpriced when you look at other dealers in the area. I had to dig really hard to even pull one star for this outfit. Although they have some nice vehicles and you can find pretty much what you are looking for online. I found a vehicle in another state, and had an associate in that city look at it for me. Made arrangements to hold vehicle, which they forgot to do, and I am glad I called to check on it. Anyway paid to have it shipped. Told me it would be 4 or 5 days, it was 12 or 13. When it arrived, it had major scratches in the door, so they try to buff out and ended up burning the paint so that both passenger side doors had to be painted. In addition, a body part fell off the car, (headlight washer door) and on inspection I found that there were 5 clips that hold the inner fender well were missing.
My vehicle is in the shop as we speak. They tell me it will be ready tomorrow. I will be checking these repairs very closely as I have issues with trust at this point. Most disturbing is that I did not like the tires that were on the vehicle. Very bad reviews for wet road conditions and it rains a lot in Florida. I asked if they could do a tire swap and was told that my Florida contact would do that for me. My Florida contact said he did it himself when he bought a car so not a problem. Agreement was made I select tires, (I got this in writing) which I did and was told they would be sold to me at cost, mounted and balanced at no charge. In question are the tires they removed, which although an off brand were brand new and told they would be returned to me. I am now being told they were disposed of and I am having a really hard time believing that.
I have asked for compensation because the car is titled to me and the tires also belong to me. I was told in other terms to go pound sand. This brings me back to my opening warning to get EVERYTHING in writing when dealing with CARMAX because they seem to forget things they tell you, and are only focused on making a sale. I am sure that I will get stiffed on the tires and they went out the door on somebody's arm at my expense. This will be my last experience at CARMAX for sure.

I truly hate having to give a negative review on any one Company but this one Company (Carmax) really seriously deserves it. To begin my journey at Carmax on the first day ever when I first walked in, I test drove 5 cars I was interested in. Out of the 5 cars I drove that day, 4 cars were in need of desperate repair. One car would not start even when jumped by the salesman. This car was a 2018 Lincoln Navigator priced at $34,500 and would not even make a sound when being jumped. The second car that I test drove was a 2018 GORGEOUS! Honda Accord. The car truly was stunning but the WORST was just about to let itself be known! The Automatic transmission was not engaging in third gear and we had to pull over and turn around and drive 10 miles per hour to get back to Carmax.
Well, to make a long story short. I did purchase a 2017 Limited Kia Sorento at $27,300 only because my Wife begged me to,,,, she said their Customer service was excellent (she was correct about that) but the cars they were selling were poorly selected by their buyers. The Kia Sorento has had more service than all of my cars put together in the past 28 years. Their SLOGAN in the commercials says "We buy cars,,, WE BUY ALL THE CARS" and they truly are not exaggerating,,, they buy any and ALL THE CARS, only If they can make $6000 to $9000 thousand dollars on one purchase from what I heard.
If you're thinking about Carmax as a possible choice, please look elsewhere or at least pay a license mechanic to inspect the car or truck your interested in from Carmax. Let’s see if the store does the right thing in 1) replacing a part under the hood that is filthy with oil, 2) degreased everything under the hood, 3) address all the expenses related to this mishap. I’ve already been given the bad news by someone at the store that my insurance would not cover a loaner vehicle. It’s my expectation that the store would own up to this quality control issue and get the car cleaned and restore, not to mention address the inconvenience this situation has caused; both in loss of time and money. I've purchased a TON of cars from Carmax... Dating back to 09. The experience used to be very positive. ALL the cars were clean, had no warning lights and the prices were competitive or better than the dealers in the local area. The sales people knew what they were selling and seemed to have your interest at heart and helped you find the right car as the received no commission on sales.
Flip forward 10 years and it's clear, profits have taken center stage of the Carmax model and not much of anything else! I recently visited both the Tampa and Clearwater (actually Largo) dealerships and was appalled at the lack of "giving a crap" from the staff. The cars were FILTHY inside and out (was never the case in the past). There was CLEAR evidence of vehicles with newly painted front and rear bumpers (some still had painters tape on them), and some with flat tires!
Carmax USED to be a company of high quality and saw to every detail. That being said, it was fine by me to spend a little more ($1-2k more) because you know you were buying an inspected, clean, quality product. Now, you get the filth, poor quality control, bad management and STILL the added cost comparative to local dealers and they don't care.
It's my guess that they now sell lower quality, filthy cars to people with bad credit! They have TONS of lenders that will sell to anyone (at 14, 20 and higher percentage) as that's now their new model. If you have poor credit and want a Jaguar, they'll take care of you. If you have good to great credit (or cash) want a quality used vehicle at a great price, RUN AWAY and look elsewhere (Try a local dealer or better yet, Autotrader)!

I attempted on several occasions to speak with the General Manager of the store, Sharon **, however, she never returned my telephone calls, refused to meet with me or schedule an appointment at the store, and never responded to my messages. The service department manager “Jimmy”, offered to take back the vehicle for a full refund, however, reneged on the offer once the vehicle was able to be towed back to the facility. In the meantime between the vehicle breaking down and being towed back to CarMax, I reached out the general manager by her cell phone and letter. Again, no response and the only response was from corporate FedExing me a letter advising that if I entered CarMax property I would be arrested (see attached letter).
The general manager stated that she felt threatened that I contacted her personally. I can assure you that all communication I have had with carmax and their employees has been professional. Yes, I did contact her personally but in no way obtained her information illegally as that is what I was told. I was receiving no response from her so I kept reaching out any way I could to have her cooperate and communicate with me to address the situation involving a vehicle I purchased being broken down and inoperable twice in the short time after it was purchased.
Sure enough, I returned the broken down vehicle and CarMax called the police and refused to fix my vehicle and told me I was trespassing and my vehicle needing repair was also trespassing. They stated “we retain the right not to do business with whom we please”. They informed me by letter that any repair would have to be done by a 3rd party mechanic and carmax would pay for the repair. Well guess what happened next, I had the vehicle repaired (is currently being repaired) by a 3rd party mechanic and carmax is refusing to pay for the damages. The mechanic reached out to CarMax per the instruction by letter, and CarMax Kenner is refusing to repair, refusing to fix the vehicle themselves or have a 3rd party repair. I purchased the vehicle approx. 60 days ago and it has been inoperable for about half the time.
CarMax is responsible for the repair per the purchase agreement of the vehicle and warranty offered by carmax at the time of purchase and as stated in the legal letter I received from Maggie ** (who also will not return my calls and cooperate). Just because I contacted the manager personally does not negate the company’s potential liability. This is my daughter's vehicle. It has been in the shop and inoperable longer than I have had it and now customer service is refusing to speak with me on the phone, again telling me they have the right to do business with whom they please.
I can assure you that I am a professional and treat other the same and expect the same in return. I am absolutely no threat to anyone nor have I ever displayed such behavior. I only want what carmax offered and that is full repair of the vehicle 90 days from the time of purchase. Customer Care is now refusing to speak with me. Please advise if legal representation is my only way to resolve this matter and have the vehicle repaired, or will someone contact me directly and approve the repair of the vehicle. Thank you in advance for your cooperation and I truly appreciate any advice on how to handle this situation moving forward.

I came in to get an appraisal and received an offer of $5500. We didn't have our new car purchase complete so I let the offer elapse. Less than a week and half later I went in and was told I had to get a new appraisal and this time it was $3500. No changes to car, only 50 additional miles, and $2000 drop in estimate. I was given a story about market conditions, yada yada. But this was a scam in my opinion. I will never do business with Carmax again!

I spent $70k on a used Toyota LandCruiser. It had some visual paint defects, upholstery issues, and a small dent. The sales associate assured me it would be fixed by the service dept... ”just bring it back when you are ready.” Fast forward 8 months or so, and I bring it in to be fixed. Unfortunately the fine print says they won’t honor the repairs since it was past 90 days....the “policy.” I clearly made a mistake and didn’t follow up in time, but the customer service was poor and unapologetic. If you are looking for a sterile sales environment where they won’t do the right thing and honor their commitments, then CarMax is the place for you. If you want to buy from a corporation that follows their policies over customer satisfaction, then again, CarMax is the place for you. My experience was at CarMax Charlotte on Independence boulevard. I will never purchase from them again.

Ok let's start out with I'm a bad at grammar so work with me. I found a truck at CarMax that I was interested in, so I get it shipped and drive a hour and half to go check it over. Well we go check it out discuss the money end of it make a deal and arrangements to come back in a week with the funds. Well fast forward my wife calls to let them know we will be arriving when we agreed just to find out the truck has been shipped out and sold. That should of been the dead giveaway to run away. Hey things happen right. I've only wasted 3 hours one day in just drive time alone. No big deal. Well they find another truck that fits the bill and have it shipped in on there fine. I'm not sure how that's supposed to help me since they have already messed up once but hey I'll take what I can get.
So this truck comes in. Money is all into play. I bring my checkbook. All the things they need. Well bad news. They won't take that type of check and they can only run debit cards and all the banks are closed, and mind you I found out my child was getting sicks 2 mins before I pulled in because she threw up in my car. Oh well. It's called being a parent. Well needless to say that was another wasted trip only to be told that they will hold the truck for 7 more days 'til I could get them the proper check or cash or a approved card they like. I think I'm good on all those notes and gonna cut my losses and not deal with CarMax any furthers. I already have 6 hours of drive time 3 throw ups and a few hours of dealing with "I'm sorry this hasn't worked out, but we won't bend or help in any way besides take your money and act like we're your friend." Just imagine buying a vehicle from them and it going bad. CarMax is like the Walmart of used cars.
