I like that at Advance Auto Parts there is never a long wait for help. I have ordered items both in the store and online for in-store pickup. The products that I search for online were easy to find and their website was very user-friendly. I find their store to be very well run and every time I come in there I am greeted with a smile. In the store it is very easy to find someone to assist me and the employees are always knowledgeable of the product. The employees are also always friendly when I ask a lot of questions because I myself do not know a lot about vehicles. They also make sure I am given the product with the best quality and the best price. I would possibly suggest though that things be a little easier to find without assistance however this is also sometimes difficult when a store carries such a wide variety of products, which is not a bad thing.

It is a auto parts store pretty close to my home. They will test your battery, alternator, etc. and help you figure out what needs replaced. Their prices are reasonable and they are usually stocked well on needed parts. As well as lots of product choices for oil, oil type, cleaning products, tire and rim cleaners and polish, lots of cosmetic finishing touches, and much more.
My biggest complaint about them is that the staff is not very knowledgeable. When I go in to get a specific part for the engine, they look it up, match the type of engine, and go get the part and I buy it. Go home to my shop and go to install and it is the wrong part. Now my vehicle is apart and I have to hope spouse is home to use their vehicle to go back and hope I get the right part by bringing the old one as well to match it. I do not count on it being the wrong part every time I need a bolt on part but I do now.

Advanced Auto Parts is an easy place to go to find things for my car. As a woman buying things for my car can be confusing but in this store it's simple. Also, there are usually other people there like me buying the basics. Many times though I feel like I am the only woman in the store so hire more women. I know that they can't just hire more women but maybe make the working environment more gender neutral. When I go to the store it's because I need something right then (usually windshield wipers). I will normally go directly to the counter and ask for what I need based upon my car model and year. Most of the employees will install the parts for me and I love it!

Advance Auto Parts's product selection and customer service were excellent. They provide personalized assistance from the start to the end of my purchases. Employee asked myself specific, related questions to establish correct answers. Furthermore, they offer personalized opinions and assistance to ensure that I'm buying the correct part. If I have any doubts, I am not likely to buy wrong products.

I have been to many different automotive parts companies and all others I truly dislike but Advance Auto Parts I didn't dislike any part of the store. It was clean and prices were great. I like many things about this company. The best part was how all the employees wanted and were ready to help me as soon as I walked in and I didn't have to ask anyone to help me find something.

Advance Auto Parts is the main store I get parts from. It's good that we have part stores with people working there that know some things about vehicles. I have bought both ways online and in the store. I like to order some things online because it's a lot easier and customer service is a little better online than in stores. Also, the stores need to get tools that we could rent instead of buying the tool. Overall, I had a great experience but I think Advance Auto could improve their customer service. I have came to see that every part store needs to improve in that area. If all the part stores can get their customer service a little more better then people wouldn't have to order online.

Advance Auto Parts is a really good auto parts store. They have great customer service and they always have the parts I need or want. If they don't have what I need they order it for me. The employees were friendly, well informed, professional, and extremely helpful. They had all the parts and supplies that I needed for repairing my car in stock and they gave some very helpful suggestions. However, they need to open more stores. I have to travel quite a distance to get to one of their stores. Although the product selection was adequate, they also need to greatly increase the number and selection of car accessories.

Advance Auto Parts has knowledgeable and helpful employees and great selection of merchandise at good prices. They have brightly lit and easy parking. The store has a convenient location, is always clean and well stocked. I have never ordered anything because it was in stock and I left the store with the part that I needed. The only thing is the store should not be placed on a busy intersection.

It had what I need it. Had friendly people who work there and help you out a lot and try to find what part I needed. They are very nice people to get to help you in the store and show you on the computer how much it will cost me but some of them don't know what they were doing and how to find it on the computer or the price of the part. I order it in store and had to wait to order the parts and they might not have the part there and have to order them and It take two week to get them or they say they have on the phone and when you get there they do not have them.

I needed a battery for my motorcycle so I went to Advanced Auto. Told them the make year model of the bike of which they gave me a battery and insisted it was correct. GUESS WHAT, NOPE. So I go back with the actual dead battery they credit the difference from the first one to the correct one. I get the battery back to the bike, it's dead. We charged it for an hour or so. I keep the bike battery on a trickle charge but still the battery was weak and didn't fire right up like it should but me not being a mechanic I figured maybe the starter is going on it of which case I did not have money to fix it. Anyways I forgot to plug the trickle charger in and 2 days it was dead. GUESS WHAT - no one told me it only had a 3 month warranty or I would not have purchased it. I was pissed and after spending $107.00 for a useless battery that wasn't even really made for a bike. HORRIBLE, JUST HORRIBLE.

I would recommend Advance Auto Parts to anyone. They have friendly and attentive service. I needed a part but wasn't sure which brand or size to get. I was asked what kind of car I had and from there we figured out the part I needed. The staff was very helpful, didn't try to upsell me with stuff I didn't need, and made sure I was happy with my choice. There was a nice selection and I decided to check out a few more accessories. The store was very browseable. I would shop there more but I wish there were more locations.

Advance Auto Parts staff was very friendly. The store is organized really well. It was easy to find most of what I needed. The customer service was great. They were helpful in finding what I needed and also explaining why I needed that. Some of the stuff was too expensive but most of the price points were comparable to other large chain stores. Checkout was easy and quick. They even helped load some heavier items into my car. I would definitely shop there again.

I had repairs being done on my car at a local mechanic. My mechanic ordered the part and called a few places to get the best price and advanced auto had the best price for the part. He actually ordered it over the phone and it went rather smoothly. Advance Auto Parts took my credit card info over the phone, delivered the part that I needed for the repair in under an hour so I like the fact that they not only had the part but they delivered it that same day to be installed by my mechanic. An hour and a half later my car was like new again. I am satisfied with the services they provided. Happy, would recommend.

As for improvement, having the store open longer on weekends would be a great help as many people do their own repairs and can only do so on the weekends.

If they do not have the item in stock, they get it for me as soon as they can, which is usually 1-2 days. However, it is too bad the store isn't bigger to be able to have more on hand. It is easy to find what I am looking for, the selection was great, and associates were knowledgeable and very helpful. I simply gave them the information on my vehicle and they looked it up and immediately told me what was available. My part was in another location and they did everything necessary to have it sent to their store. It only took until the next afternoon to get it there also which was great! All I can say is wow. Bought brake pads for my car and they wore out. Bought another set from Advance and when I brought in old ones I was denied a refund because the parts had worn out. When I asked so what is the limited lifetime warranty, they replied it was for manufacturing defects. Parts that wear out are not covered by warranty. Hate to tell you but that why I am there... to replace a part that has worn out! Now what you're also telling me is that if the part I buy wears out, even if sold with the warranty, I am still out of luck. Whether that's a blower motor, engine mount, tie rod end, or brake pads. I for one will need to rethink my loyalty to Advance Auto Parts. Oh, and I did check with Auto Zone, Napa, and O'reillys... they all told me if I had the original receipt and the replacement receipt, I would immediately get a refund.

They also sell various types of car wax, radiator caps, and lots of small parts that you can look at on the shelf. Their location is nearby. The salespeople are helpful most of the time. The prices are decent. Customer service has been okay. They could be more friendly or more helpful. I think more women should be hired at all locations, they could organize the product a little bit better so that everything is easier to find. They should give discount and coupons to returning customers. They should offer videos that show customers how to do repair work on their vehicles and they should sell those in the store.

They were intelligent in anything you needed help with. The employee knew exactly what parts I would need and tools. The products needed were already in stock so there was no need to order online. They were all right in the store and nothing was hard to find. Their attitudes were also very good, in that they were cheerful and hospitable and were not condescending to the young woman who did not know anything about vehicle parts. My battery and tune up was overdue but my van was in great condition. Shortly after my purchase I started having real problems with things popping up on my dashboard saying check battery system VGA or VSA? And I began to need hot shots. I took my van to the Honda dealership for diagnosing & was told my battery has a bad cell. So I thought not a problem. I have warranty so I'll return... But very upset that when I carried the heavy battery into Advance for them to test it and they charged it to tell me it's fine and I cannot get a refund or replacement.
I had someone put the battery back in again and once again I needed a hot shot (jump) to have it start again. I parked my van and drove my other car but continued to try to get the matter resolved April 12th-21st still not!! So I went in to Advance to speak with manager Howard here in MD/ Joppa Rd and Manager Dave was there instead and basically told me to go take the battery off again bring it in to have it tested.
Bottom line is I don't trust what you guys are testing is correct and I want my full or partial refund so that I can go purchase a battery elsewhere!! That's the only way I'm carrying that battery back into this place. And they're telling me I can only deal with gnus location because it's where I made the purchase. Thank God I wasn't stranded on the other side of town. This is too much work for me the customer to deal with! If I have a warranty for two years I should be able to return to any of your stores with receipts. It's only been 5 months! Since the purchase with all of these problems... Once installed, it was clear to the shop the alternator I purchased from AAP was faulty. The alternator began to smoke shortly after the car was started and never made it out of the bay. The shop had to drop the frame AGAIN to remove the bad part and get another. In all, it was an additional $160 labor to remove and replace after getting another from a better, more reliable company.
AAP refunded me for the bad part but will not reimburse for the additional labor it took to remove and replace their bad product. I spoke to the manager who all but tried to say that I must have damaged it or the shop must have installed it incorrectly. $160 lesson to never buy from these folks again. Bought an alternator January of 2016 to replace my factory original in my 2002 F350 truck. Original lasted 14.5 years. Also new batteries the same week. A few weeks ago, I take a road trip across the country with my wife and kids. We were literally in the middle of nowhere... no phone service. No radio stations. No passing cars. No houses. No towns. The middle of nowhere. The last town I passed through was about 80 miles back and it had maybe 10 houses and a couple small businesses. No phone service here and my next town I would be passing was about 60 miles away. So we are just driving along and my battery light comes on. I knew it was the alternator the second the light came on but I got out of the truck, popped the hood and did a test anyway... Yup the alternator was fried. What to do, what to do...
Middle of nowhere. 1 am passing through an unfamiliar state. No alternator so I knew the batteries would dies shortly. I did the only thing I could do... I kept driving trying to get as close to anything I could find. Zero passing cars hours. Zero phone service. Zero signal on CB radio. Had to try to get as close as I could and hope to get cell service... Well I made it about 10 miles before the truck shut off. 27 degrees out. No heat. Minimal clothing. We were traveling across the country and didn't even make it 300 miles. We were on the side of the road from around 1 am until after 7 am. A sheriff just so happened to be passing and seen us and had a tow truck there around 7:15 am. Our tow was 50 miles to the nearest location... $320. Then I had to buy a new alternator and 2 new batteries. Another $550. (O'Reilly was close. Advance was 100 plus miles away).
$870 later, we were back on the road and I was friggin pissed that my 1 year old alternator left my family in below freezing temperatures all night. I will be reaching out to corporate store and attempt to recoup some of my loss in this adventure. I've also been very loyal to Advance stores all over. I owned a business and owned a minimum of a dozen trucks at any given time and spent tens of thousands a year in parts. Very unhappy with the quality of parts that are sold today. Store wants to try a 35 minute charge and retest, fine. I come back and there's a printout, battery defective. NOW they say since I bought battery online originally they can only refund my original purchase and I would have to buy a new battery at the store price AND since they are giving me a refund on the original battery I would not get a $22 core charge back on a NEW battery??? Finally after 45 minutes online chat and another 20 or 30 minutes on phone with customer service they are refunding my difference. About $35. Should not have had to go through all that but they finally come through!

I have just found out that my lower headlight died. The one I bought from Advance Auto in Sept. I did not have the receipt. I tried to exchange it after uninstalling it. The desk guy said that he needed a receipt. I went back home to grab the receipt and came back with the box that carried the part. Another sales guy told me that they do not sell that part here. That was in spite of the fact that I provided the receipt and box and another part that bought but was not able to install myself. Their return policy is 1 year with receipt which I did provide. Still the sales guy denied the receipt claiming that the part is not Advance Auto part.
Anyhow, most of their electrical and probably nonelectrical parts dies quickly, and the bigger problem is that they deny the return even with the receipt. Very bad experience and my mechanic told me "Do not buy from there anything." Always you learn the hard way.

Manager at store in Georgetown, TX. Store #6255. What a deal. Bought an in-tank fuel pump for my Chevy truck over 3 yrs ago, closer to 4 or 5; he stood by it. I was in G-town on business then, home now in Houston: had 2 horrible experiences over it with 2 store managers here, even got Corporate involved (that sure fixed my problem. Great job!). One manager here said "I don't know you even bought that item from us, you could have bought it anywhere else and are just trying to get over on me..." That, and the store in G-Town can vouch for me (store #6255).
The other manager at another store here, #6548, (the first one refused me service EVEN after Corporate got involved... Who's in charge over there?) told me he had no way of knowing how many times I had already requested a warranty return! The nerve, the gall, and the audacity of these guys, TO SAY NOTHING OF THEIR STUPIDITY... Duh! Check my phone number please! Then he "dressed me down" by stipulating it was a "limited warranty" at best good only for 2 or 3 returns; since this was my first I assumed I would have 2 more opportunities... Wrong, he said "Only 1." (I left it at that for now, I needed my fuel pump real bad). Anyway, I digress, so Corporate carried some weight with the #2 guy, he did accept my warranty claim.
Back to the original manager where I made the initial purchase, herein is his official response when thanking him for intervening with Manager #2 about my problem (Auto-Advance deletes their info every 3 years, warranty or not and their stores do not integrate) and I am keeping his texts on my phone forever: "You are quite welcome Sir. I take our job very seriously. And in the end it is our job to take care of our customers, end of story. Some GM's get too lost in the details trying to enforce every little piece of whatever code or regulation or rule, I forget, in the end we should error in favor of the customer if we are going to error at all. It is never too much of a problem for me to take the time of day to make sure my customers, and our customers as a company, are taken care of right away and feel confident and comfortable in doing business with Advance Auto Parts."
I tell you, this guy needs to be promoted to Corporate Manager Trainer. Phew, AAP almost lost another customer completely (read their complaints board). I will purchase at the G-town store, but not at the 2 Houston ones. My 99 Chevy truck is running smoothly, daresay even much better than before it went out. Like I said, What a Deal!

I purchased a car battery online from Advance Auto Parts in March 2013. The battery came with a 5 year warranty and 3 year free replacement. By purchasing online, I got a $40 discount. The battery failed 2 days ago, with approximately 16 months of the original 5 years remaining. I contacted the store from which I picked up the battery and was told that they no longer provide a 5 year warranty on batteries and that it would take a long time and great effort, including multiple telephone calls to their "home office" to calculate the prorata amount I should receive as credit toward a new battery. Clearly, they wanted me to abandon any warranty benefit I was due - and they didn't know how to calculate the prorata amount or to read their own website that describes in detail how to make the calculation.
I called the company's Customer Service number, 877-238-2623 (877-ADV-ANCE) and spent approximately 1/2 hour with them on the telephone and thought we had the issue resolved such that they would honor the warranty appropriately. I called the store back and the personnel there could not fathom anything I was told by the Customer Service agent. I called the Customer Service department back and spent over an hour on the phone with them, discussing the issue to iron out all the questions and waiting on hold while they contacted the store either 2 or 3 different times. Finally, the customer service agent came back and told me the store had agreed to an "out the door" price, all taxes and fees included.
I called the store back and advised the manager that I would be in that evening to get the battery. When I showed up a few hours later, no one that was there when I dealt with the matter earlier was in the store. The on duty clerk did not dispute that I had the conversation and was given the price I was given. However, she spent nearly an hour trying to calculate the prorata amount of my warranty return. She finally called the clerk that worked with the manager to determine the total price and he told her to just make it a price adjustment rather than a warranty return and exchange.
During all her time making calculations, I tried to help her identify the proper calculations per the company's website. She wasn't interested. I explained to her that I am a CPA and calculations such as this are things I do all the time and could easily help her with it, though I knew that the store personnel had not used the actual prorating formula described on their website and told her so. So, I had to stand there for her to frustrate herself and me to satisfy her curiosity. It was highly disrespectful of her to treat me that way and the company in general looks bad because they clearly haven't trained their personnel properly.
I did finally get my battery and all seems well now. This particular store, located at 10777 Spring Cypress Road, Spring, TX 77379, previously had an extremely helpful and knowledgeable manager, a woman who actually surprised me with her technical expertise and customer oriented attitude. I don't remember her name, but they drove her away by promoting everyone around her and keeping her down. It was a sad day for me when I learned she had left and a couple employees there gave me the basic info about why she left. Advance Auto Parts needs to do a MUCH better job of hiring, training, and keeping quality employees. Customers depend on it, which eventually means the business depends on it.

I agree with posts about specific individuals at Advance Auto stores having difficult personalities; that happens in any business. However, generally service depends on training for the employees and the actual head count at a store. The corporate management at Advance Auto is abysmal. They cut employees hours if a store is doing well. First of all Advance Auto does not pay a living wage. They consider labor to be a commodity so they go with "what the market will bear." They get away with it because there is very little competition for labor so the wages are driven down. Even with the low wages the corporate management cuts hours making it even farther from a subsistence wage. This damages the morale of the employees which results in those employees not being incentivized to work hard.
Even if they work hard, and most do despite the incompetent and callous corporate management, the stores are hopelessly understaffed resulting in overall customer dissatisfaction. The good will between the name brand and the consumer is radically diminished because of corporate policy. Add to all of this, it is not even a safe place to work. There are no cameras for the employees' safety. Those cameras would deter robbers and shoplifters. Discourage would be thieves who would break into the employees' cars. There is no safety gear for handling leaking batteries and other hazardous materials.
The company forces the employees to purchase their own uniforms which don't last long because of things like battery acid, grime from being under the hood of dirty cars. Soaked from having to change batteries and windshield wipers in the rain, and etcetera. No back braces are provided for lifting heavy objects like brake rotors. Some days a single employee will stock as many as 100 heavy rotors. They can be written up if the management doesn't think that they are moving fast enough. There are no breaks. Scheduled lunches are scheduled but because of the under-staffing the employee does not get an uninterrupted lunch.
About returns. An employee might not be trained properly to process returns because there is no structured training. The employees are expected to learn it on the fly on a system that is frequently inconsistent. The employee is expected to multitask all over the place so never has the opportunity to learn even one thing thoroughly. All of this abuse where the average wage of their 77,000 employees is less than $9.00/hr. No benefits. No performance compensation. No vacation. Nadda...
The corporate office does not care if a customer has bad experiences in the store because as long as it is profitable today, they don't care about tomorrow. Yes, they do bait and switch. Yes, they are disingenuous in their returns policy. Their system doesn't work but they don't care. Sorry folks but you get to eat the cost of that which had a warranty on quite often. Basically, corporate management at Advance Auto is a cheap racket run by a corn chip vendor so what do you expect. But please don't take it out on the employees. They are the face of the company. The front line. They make it work. But they are ABUSED by THE VERY COMPANY THEY WORK FOR.

Very dishonest & rude people. They sold me a part for my pickup truck that failed less than a year after installation. When I walked into the store in question that I purchased the part from they denied me the District Manager's name and contact info. They also denied me a printout of the original purchase as well as the person that they spoke to from corporate. So I called another store local and got the district manager's name & number and called him. It took 3 weeks for him to call me back and I got nothing but the runaround from him. I next called the manufacturer of the part that damaged my truck's engine & they told me I had to go thru Advance. Now by this time I was 2 months in the dm, never filed my claim and I called corporate again. They filed the claim and ran me all over the place. In the meantime someone ordered my purchase history be deleted and the part's order history was deleted too to cover up & avoid a payout.
Now many representatives later this arrogant guy in the warranty department told me that there was no way for anyone to delete the stores records of my purchase/order. That was a lie as per my brother-in law who is an IT guy for a local computer repair firm. So almost 7 months later they were tired of my calls & they paid me for part of "the engine that I had to purchase" following the DM's departure from the company. But when I asked about being compensated for all the inconvenience that I was caused. And they didn't even pay me the full amount of the replacement engine.
So not only am I paying $100 out of my pocket for the engine they are expecting me to pay $1,300 to have the engine put in!!! "STAY AWAY. THEY ARE DISHONEST, RUDE & ARROGANT PEOPLE." I've always had the best of experiences with this company in the past.
If I didn't know something, I could count on someone there knowing what I needed. It is apparent that the requirements to work in a parts store no longer include knowing anything about vehicles, and the (arrogant) mindset that as long as you can look up a part on that fancy computer, the customer should worship the ground you walk on. I never liked ordering parts online. I always appreciated the relationship with the parts guy, usually good people to be on a first name basis with. They claimed they don't have the adaptor to check it so I was. That is just wrong. They could not find me in their system even though I walk down the hill from my house had the paperwork. Well after I have the rotors and cannot return them they decline the rebate. Apparently it was for the platinum only pads. This was not said on the gold brake pads web page. So I'm out 50 dollars. No biggie. I mean I really didn't need the rotors but they are done now. However Advanced Auto Parts has lost another customer, between their counter staff and now this with the web base. I'm done with the company so, be careful when buying from them. This is not the first time I have had this happen. I purchased a new radiator on 7/31/2015 with what I was told had a 1-year warranty. The first one I purchased leaked before I even installed it. The second radiator lasted a few weeks. The same for the third radiator that all leaked in the same spot with no physical damage done to part. Tried to take the fourth radiator back leaking in exact same spot from the end cap which is plastic. Very bad design for something holding 200 degree water and fluid and said it was a limited warranty which is now only good for 90 days so I'm now out of luck.
I installed the first one. Two different mechanics installed the next two. If you are going to sell a product with a 1-year warranty then stand behind your product. It going to cost them a lot of business from a loyal customer of 20 years and the company I work for which has 7 locations over eastern NC which consist of around 200 vehicle. We self-maintain. After horrible experience with store on Washington St. in Middletown CT and equally awful experience with store manager John the next day, I spoke to customer service at corporate office. Twice. Thrice. All representatives kept repeating "nothing I can do." "Corporate policy" the reason. This after a recording while waiting on hold long periods of time claiming customer service important. Wish I had checked this site first as the problem is apparently nationwide and even at corporate level.
Already overpaid so I hope the parts arrive. In a week supposedly even though overcharged for shipping, then the audacity to charge tax on the shipping too! No willingness to make this right, not even a dollar or a penny. Again Corporate Policy. Furthermore the last customer service person at corporate kept talking over me, claimed all companies have this many bad reviews and service complaints, all charge shipping, all do nothing. NOT TRUE!! They also refused to honor a price match from another store less than half mile away. The shipping I was overcharged for at Advance Auto will take a week. At best from what I read here. When I asked them to call me when parts arrive I was told they do not do this. More Corporate Policy. And Poor Customer Service.
Meanwhile ordered more parts from competing AutoZone right up the street on the same day, Friday. Wonderful store. Wonderful Sandy. Was told these parts would arrive on Tuesday and they would call me when they arrive. No shipping charge, much lower pricing and the very next day Saturday got a call from Sandy telling me the parts were already in!!
DO NOT BUY YOUR PARTS FROM ADVANCE AUTO!! Right up the street is wonderful service and value at AutoZone. They are holding my parts until Advance Auto Parts order arrives in a week if I am lucky. I advised my mechanic not to ever purchase parts for my cars from Advance Auto Parts. He told me he also feels he has no clout with them. From what I have read here nobody does. Be smart. The level of incompetence within the Advance Auto Parts organization is unfathomable. First, they don't even inspect the parts to ensure they aren't defective before they ship them to customers. Then when the customer receives the defective part there is an expectation that the customer is to pay for return shipping. After explaining that such an expectation is not only unreasonable but blatantly dishonest they finally concede to sent a prepaid return label. They send you a return label with a corrupted file that can't be printed attributing the problem to a computer issue with the customer.
When they finally realize that the prepaid return label is actually a corrupted file then they agree to have a UPS truck pick up the return. All the while they make the customer reorder the $140 part. They then don't add the email address of the customer to the order so the status of the order can be checked and then state they cannot add the email address. I will stop here because the incompetence continues on to infinitum. They found a way "legal" to deny warranties if you don't have the original receipt and you don't go to exactly the same store you bought it! Advance doesn't want to have a nationwide system (for example Autozone has one from 90s) and refuse any warranties without proof of purchase in same store. My daughter needed a new battery for her car and she purchased one from Advanced Auto in Raleigh, NC. The price was inline, but no great deal except they had it and would "install" it for her. A female clerk took the battery and began the install which took a long time due to the fact that she was more concerned with collecting money from a parking lot mechanic that she had directed the replacement of store parts to someone and he was installing in the parking lot of Advance Auto. She collecting her share of the install fee.
In the meantime she worked on the battery intermittently and when finished she closed the hood and sent my daughter on her way. The next day the car failed and when we investigated found the battery clamp had fallen off the terminal. She was able to replace it and get her car started, but it continued to happen. When I investigated I discovered the Advance Auto lady had left the battery hold down clamp off and the battery was moving around freely in the car which caused the battery cable to be pulled off when the battery turned over.
We went back to the store and they were gracious enough to SELL me the clamp that they had lost and put it on. When I complained they pretty much ignored my issue and complaint and said I would have to pay for it. I did and I also promised to not return to the store and to write this review so that others will know that there other places to purchase auto parts and that others care enough about their customers to solve the problems that they had caused. If you need to buy from Advance Auto Parts I would suggest not expecting to get any sort of warranty or satisfaction from their poor service or any parts that do not meet your expectations. I am completely frustrated with Advance Auto Parts in Belleview. I took my Mitsubishi Eclipse into my mechanic for routine maintenance and they placed a Dayco timing belt on my car (which by the way has a 1 yr warranty). TWO weeks later the belt came apart and basically destroyed my engine. I am a home health nurse, so I take excellent care of my vehicle, hence the routine maintenance-- I need a vehicle to work so of course that's what you do to ensure you continue to have a job. It's not a fly by night job either, I've been there close to 9 1/2 years. Compound that now with the fact that my significant other is a realtor and has an ill brother who we go to 3-4 times a day to ensure he takes his medicine. We're now sharing a vehicle. I'm turning work down, he's turning down work. We have a hardship on our hands.
About a month after my mechanic has been calling the store practically daily getting absolutely nowhere with the management I decide I have been patient enough and call Advance Auto Parts Customer Service. I am told I need a reference number to see how far this claim is in the process. I called my mechanic who calls Advance Auto Store #9134 and he is told Brian who is handling it will not be in for several days, call back. When he calls back my mechanic is told they were supposed to put the claim in and they sent this very important information with a delivery driver- who never said a word- and there is no reference number. There is no claim.
My question is why? Why would you send pertinent information like that with a delivery driver, especially when my mechanic is calling you on the phone and WHY would you wait a month after the fact when someone calls you to get the actual reference # to finally say that. Then Lawrence from Advance Auto Parts states to me that Brian was supposed to put the claim in and when he tries to get in touch with Brian he is told he is doing interviews and can't come to the phone. Needless to say my mechanic fills out the claim info / estimate and faxes it to Jesse at Advance Auto parts. Then I speak to Travis today from claims who states Advance Auto wasn't supposed to do the claim regardless of what I was told, they haven't received the estimate, and he has no idea why Brian would wait so long to give the pertinent info to my mechanic. The kicker is they need the actual belt to be overnighted to Dayco, which is the first I've heard of it.
My mechanic still has the belt no problem there. And then on top of that I was told the process may take up to another 30 days, Advance Auto isn't responsible for the claim on my vehicle, Dayco has to pay them, and that's if they decide their belt is faulty. Did I mention no one would give me the regional manager or district managers number? Did I mention that Advance Auto tried to say my mechanic didn't buy the belt from them (my mechanic had the receipt still). Wow. I'm close to 5 or 6 weeks in now. Wondering if I will be eventually fired. Asking myself how much longer I can afford to make my bills with the loss of income. I just can't imagine that this is how people actually do business and I really can't say that I believe my car will ever be dealt with.
I worked three jobs to buy it (crazy right). I paid for it in full the day I bought it. It's a 2011. Now it's just sitting. I wonder will the brand new tires I bought before this dry rot before I ever get to drive it again.... So much for the American dream folks. I haven't even been offered a rental car while this whole debacle plays out. I even asked how Travis thought a lawyer would see this or how a judge would interpret from their stand point the absolute disregard for someone like me. He said they would furnish whatever attorney I had with their warranty policy in court. Good answer.

I have had a string of bad luck with parts purchased from Advance. I have a 2000 Nissan Maxima that my Son uses to attend college a couple hours away. In the past 2 years, I have replaced the Alternator, Starter (twice) and Rear Brake Calipers. All of these parts went bad. Calipers went bad immediately, though it took a month of losing brake fluid to figure out the calipers were leaking. The first starter went bad after only a year and the second one didn't last that long. Now the 3rd one is starting to act up and I assume it's a matter of time before it goes bad. The Alternator did last just under 2 years. In all of these cases, the car broke down at my Son's college town and each time the car had to be towed to a local service center.
This service center was good about getting the replacement parts swapped out with a local Car Quest, so I wasn't out anything for the parts as they all had lifetime warranties, but I was out the labor to have the parts swapped out. If I can only expect to get an average of 1-2 years out of Advance's parts, I will no longer purchase parts from them. Let me rephrase, Bill sold my mother a practically dead (one working cell) battery. After purchasing this battery it was hit or miss on whether or not her car would start. She took it back to Bill numerous times and was told a plethora of excuses. It's the starter, it's a loose connection, it's the WEATHER (70 degrees mind you). So on Friday November 6, her car would not start at all. So she had it towed to her dealer where they tested it and found that she had been sold a useless, dead battery. My mother promptly called Bill and met him at his store where he quickly dismissed her saying "Sorry lady but you aren't getting anything back." He REFUSED to replace or refund my mother's money. He was extremely cocky, rude and arrogant and was acting like a despicable human being.
When I called to have a discussion with him because this is not right at all, he THREATENED me with calling the police and saying I was harassing him. I had purchased a battery in December '13 from Advance Auto, and it had a 3-yr warranty. When I went back to Advance to get my battery tested, they said it was low, but that they would just charge it and that I had to drive it for 45 mins that day. No mention of replacing it at that time. So I figured OK, the battery must not be that bad then. But I kept having starter problems though, so my husband said he would take it to Pep Boys and have them test the starter and the alternator. Both of those tested fine, and they said, "it's your battery." So we had to go back to Advance (waste of our time!) and demand a battery - they gave us a hard time about it, saying our battery tested fine, and that they were not supposed to replace our battery. Why not?
Why would you sell us the 3-yr warranty and give us the runaround about it? So I'm supposed to have a completely DEAD battery before I can get a new one? I'm supposed to risk my and my children's lives on the interstates in this crazy city (Atlanta)?! At the time, they insisted that the battery was fine and they wanted to test my starter and alternator to make sure. We had just told them we had those things checked at Pep Boys, but I guess they didn't trust us and figured we were lying to them. Advance Auto - You have lost another customer. Thank you for your rude "service" and when you sell a warranty for 3-yrs, you're not supposed to give the customer any crap about it. I've spent the last 3 hours going up the chain of Advance Auto Parts Managers and Supervisor trying to ascertain why they can sell a retail customer a defective part and not be responsible for a labor claim of that part. Was told by all that their policy is to only refund or replace the part. Their policy does not allow labor claims for walk up customer. Was flat out told that if I had 5 of the same parts replace by a garage after I walked up and purchased them over the counter and all 5 were defective that their only liability would be to keep replacing the part or refund the funds for that part. I spoke with the store manager, warranty claims department and a couple more in the customer service department and was told the exact same by all. Was also told by all that they stand behind their parts.
If that statement is to believed then one would have to believe that if one of their parts were put on an automobile by a certified mechanic at a garage and it was defective and had to be replace, standing by their part would be to allow a labor claim for the labor cost of replacing the defective part they sold. Shouldn't matter if they delivered to the garage or the customer. Well that is not the case here. Wow they basically are saying to the consumer BUYER BEWARE, so buy at your own risk. If any part is defective and determined to be defective by a qualified mechanic you incur that cost of labor for a part we guarantee to be free from defect. What a joke of a business practice. With a policy like that why even waste money on a customer service department?
I could think of a more appropriate name to go in place of their motto: Join Our Winning Team! And we'll just leave it at that. I have to admit that I've run into some very good associates in the stores but that alone won't bring me back to Advance. In closing when I purchase the water pump from Advance and paid my mechanic to install their pump I was believing I had received a non defective part from a supplier. Having stated that, will someone making the big bucks at Advance explain to me why that wasn't the case and why I should have to fork over double labor charges since you sold me the defective part.

All of Advanced Auto "Limited Lifetime" warranty parts does not cover normal wear and tear as stated on their web page. So ANY problem you have, they say is normal wear and tear. Will NOT replace under any circumstance. Autozone offers an actual Lifetime warranty (even items like brake pads are REALLY warranted for lifetime). I will NOT be returning to Advanced Auto any time soon!

I called corporate, and now they say they do pay claims for labor. The first warranty claims said no problem, we will reimburse me. They gave me the run around. Do NOT buy any parts from Advance Auto Parts.

I bought a fuel pump from AAP in Brentwood, NY& it was already opened. The cashier told me it was okay if any problems, bring it back. The fuel pump did not work. Out of curiosity I went to Autozone & bought a fuel pump there & it worked fine. So I tried returning the other one to AAP and the manager there was so rude, yelling that should not return my money because it was already used. It was used to begin with because it was opened when I bought it. That manager is so rude every time I go there. She refused to help customers resolve their problems. I would like to get my refund back on this fuel pump that didn't even work. Somebody must have bought it there & returned it because it was already defective.

I have been a customer for years. Worked well despite a few glitches. Ordered brake lines and windshield wipers. The wipers came. Order was placed in FEB 2015. It is now MAY. Numerous emails. Each answered with a run around and blah, blah, appeasement placating response . After sixth email asked the parts be sent via express mail. Got a stock shipping answer basically blowing me off. Decided no more emails so called today 3 months later. Very poor customer service. Pushed a bunch of buttons. Talked to the robot. Called back. Waited another 10-15 minutes on an international call. Got the poor shcmo who had to refer it upstairs. Said the parts came back. No explanation as to why no follow up.
Was provided another 1-800 number. No name provided. Said it was another call center. So here I am writing the worst review I have written in a long time. Would have been too easy to just send the parts express mail after the first two emails and kept me as a loyal customer. Hopefully the brake lines will come and then it is bye bye Advance Auto for good. Too bad really as I am not hard to please. Just expect customer service and reliable delivery. Advance Auto can not fill the bill. So Long.

This supposedly great plan for rebates or perks is a big joke. I have spent $584.87 in your store since April 7 2015 and I was expecting these rebates to come in so I could use them for some other stuff I was getting. Well I finished my jobs this past weekend and still have not seen these so called perks until today. I got 1 20$ and 2 5$ coupons. However it is too late to use them when I really needed them and then to top it off I had one purchase over $300 and two purchases over $100 a piece so according to your rules I should have gotten five $20 coupons and one or two $5 coupons but no I did not. I also had a $50 rebate coming for purchasing the AC parts and when I just went online and registered for it it is a stupid advance gift card not the $50 rebate you led me to believe.
I have bought from your store for several years now and other than a few instances have been fairly pleased and I spend usually over $1000 per year there. I don't know what has changed but you need to look at how you are lying to your customers. And when I look at the coupons they expire in a short time. I just did all my maintenance on my vehicles and I will not be doing anything else before they expire so therefore I actually received NOTHING for spending almost $600 in your store in less than a month.
I am really disappointed in Advance because I know all the workers by name and they know me and my sons by name also. Just to let you know there is an O'reilly's just across the street and down one block and and that is probably where I will start spending my $1000 per year from now on. I earned those perks as you call them so they should not expire so quick, at least give them a year but 2 months is ridiculous. These kinds of games you like to call speed perks that you like to play on your customers really puts a bad taste in my mouth for advance auto parts. Now I really don't think I will be back.

Let's just say I'm very disappointed with the quality of your parts. In less than 1 year I have purchased 3 fuel pumps, 2 fuel tanks, an alternator, map sensor, throttle position sensor, dimmer switch, and throttle cable. I have had to replace every part because of failure, and not one covered under any kind of warranty. More than one of those failed on me while making a drive from Wisconsin to Texas leaving me stranded on the side of the road, which makes me so upset it's not even funny. I just want to say it's not easy replacing some of those parts once, let alone twice especially on the side of the interstate. I want you to know I will never step foot in one of your stores again and I feel you owe me money. Did I mention when the throttle position sensor failed it caused my truck to die in an intersection and I got rear-ended which made me have to pay deductibles for my vehicle and others. Extremely upset!

Online 5.19 price, was 9.19, 4 dollars off, for air filter purolator, said in stock at local store. Went there. They then tell me that is a online price, that I need to pay full price 9.19. Nothing mention on item I was wanting except on sale 5.19. If that's the online price, should have that plainly stated on each item they sell so customer will know that if they are willing to wait about 5 days, pay for shipping, etc., they can get a little discount maybe. Depend on how much they charge for shipping, the store price may end up cheaper. That's my gripe. Maybe no deal online if you pay for shipping plus have to wait maybe 5 days to show up.

First off, my boyfriend received brakes from Advanced Auto in Upstate New York 4 months ago. He went back to exchange them because one side was screwed up. They would not abide by their warranty because they do not cover that type of damage. He gave them a half hour of Hell where they finally replaced them, but it is crappy that they would not abide by their warranty. So we will be shopping at AutoZone. My brother in law went to them two separate times and both times he received the wrong part. Customer service is not what it used to be.

I stopped by the local Advance Auto to try to return the wiper blades I had purchased a few weeks beforehand due to their extremely low quality (in just two storms they had basically fallen apart). The customer service rep did not allow me to return them, even though they were within the 90 day return window and defective. Though somewhat frustrated, I decided to let it go and purchase new ones since the amount of money involved was not enormous. I picked out some new ones and bought them.
Once I got home, however, I discovered that someone had already opened one of the packages and stolen the part that fastens the blades onto the car. I went back to Advance Auto to exchange them, and ended up being charged $10 extra just to get a non-defective set of wipers - the service rep cancelled the promo deal that I originally bought them under (that was still in effect) and charged me the full price for the new one. One of the worst experiences I have ever had making any purchase - I will NEVER go back to Advance Auto. HORRIBLE SERVICE.

I have been going to Advance Auto for over a decade and have always been happy and gone back. I chose Advance for my parts because my friend from high school worked there. He left and since then, it's been a mess. The other day I purchased brakes from them and came home. I took the tire off, took off the old brakes, went to put the new ones on and they were the wrong ones. I clearly told the associate there the right info. I have done ordered parts many times before. When I called the store, they refused to deliver me the right brakes so I had to put the old ones back on. They were in very bad condition and it was dangerous but had no other ride and no choice. I felt bad for the guy when I got there. Everyone makes mistakes but the store should have done the right thing.
I also have been having a belt issue. I purchased a belt from Advance and it snapped a day later. I went back to get another one but they would not honor my warranty because I didn't have the broken belt. If your belt snaps when driving, I don't know how you would even have the belt to bring in. I have since purchased a belt from NAPA and have had no problems. My friend's car had a check engine light on so we went to Advance to check the code to see what needed to be repaired. The guy in the store was being a total a-hole to us and made us wait forever while he did nothing. He then looks at us and says, "Even if I read the code, I can't tell you what it means. We are not a repair shop." I told him, "That's fine, I could look it up on the internet." He keep stalling so we just left.
If they can't give me some direction at all from a service they provide, how can I buy the correct part? These are three incidents in a couple weeks that have pushed me away from a store that I've been going to for years and recommended....but no more. Some employees there are very helpful so it's not all. Maybe it's the store by me, I don't know, but from now on, I will go to NAPA. The belt was much cheaper there anyway. Probably should have went in the first place.

Bought a battery ten months ago. Started experiencing problems starting car about 6 weeks ago. Went to store had battery checked - told it needs charging for 45 minutes. After 4 days problem returned, took my car for service and asked my mechanic to check if any problems draining battery. Car ok, battery has one dead cell. Returned to Advance Auto found same manager, explained this was a return visit. Was informed again store policy is to recharge battery.
I asked how many times and what purpose a warranty is for. Manager very rude and unhelpful. Other customers tried to intervene. Manager adamant about 'store policy' recommended battery recharge for 45 minutes again and that if problem recurs she will change the battery. After one week battery won't charge and car won't start. Returned to store, manager states store policy is to recharge battery. I left very angry and frustrated.
I was mistreated by this store and I feel cheated. In this season having a car stall on you is not funny. I will never ever step in this store again. My husband went into your store at 1200 Blanding to purchase a bottle of Blue Devil. We wanted it price matched which was refused even though the Napa website CLEARLY STATES it is the IN STORE price. However because Napa was closed, the so-called parts guy could not verify it... (Guess the phone in my husband's hands with the price on the screen was not good enough, nor the internet on your own computers in store). We also planned to purchase 4 gallons of coolant, spark plugs, thermostat & several other items. We chose to do business with you all because you are in my neighborhood & now I will chose to drive 7 miles out of the way from now on. We also have a commercial account with one of your stores across town that I will now refuse to buy ANYTHING from that I spend approx $20k a month in parts out of. We also have a small at home business that we have spent thousands of dollars at this location for but I will never buy another thing from you, period.
The service has always been questionable but I will never return. We have had to look up our own parts, have been told you DO NOT CARRY things you do, that I can look up online plain as day. Get some real parts people in your store & maybe you would actually see an increase in volume & profits. Go ahead & ask ** or ** how much money I have spent with Advance in the last 4 years alone. This was the absolute last straw. The associates you have in this store could not care less if the customer is satisfied in any way, shape or form.
I can imagine how much uninformed people get screwed out of here. Just for instance... a lawn plug was requested in the least expensive form... It was given to my husband for $6; however you have one on the shelf for $1.19... which I ended up buying 12 from Napa instead, which they price matched with no problems. It is problem after problem. I don't expect anyone to contact me if the upper level service is anything like the store level. So I will not be surprised if I never hear back but you as a company should be ashamed at the way this store conducts themselves on a daily basis. I am certainly glad they are not my commercial provider any longer but your other commercial salesman will not be very happy that I am pulling all of my business that he just started to get back again.

You have two older guys behind the counter, I didn't get their name, that first had me pull the alternator, so they could test it, to make sure it still worked. It was good. They asked questions about my car and what had happened up to this point. After talking to them about the connections on the alternator that I had replaced a couple of days ago, they figured out that the Advance Auto Store in Gallsburg, Ill. gave me the wrong alternator and it wouldn't charge the battery - that why it kept stalling out. Anyway to make a long story short, they gave me credit for the wrong alt. that the store in Ill. sold me and sold me the right one that worked perfectly all the way back to Iowa. I used to be a customer of Advance Auto Parts ...... no more. This company simply does not give a damn after you spend your money there. I tripped over an improperly installed wheel-stop ramp (18" from the curb and in the pedestrian path access/egress lane from store), unpainted, same color as lot and filthy oil stained. Falling against the fender of my car, I flipped over and fell on my back. In the process I broke my right foot. When questioning the manager about the unpainted, unsafe and filthy conditions all he had to say was: "We've been after them (management) for years to do something. They just won't do anything". After filing a claims report, SEDGWICK CMS the company contracted by ADVANCE acted like a professional boiler-room stonewalling operation rejecting my claim, leaving me to foot the medical bills. Legal advice sought brought only a "you're fighting wind-mills" comment. On July 4th, I purchased the generator (TOU 5843219 for a Volks Beetle 1968) from Advance Auto Parts store #09185. The price of the generator was $88.99 plus core $14.00. On July 9th, I hired a professional mechanic to install the generator. In order to do this job, the engine of my Beetle had to be removed. When the job was completed, the mechanic and myself tested the car. Unfortunately, at that moment we realized the generator was defective; electricity was not being sent to the battery. I contacted the store immediately to inform them of the defective generator. Their first reaction was to put the fault on me indicating that I was not doing the job properly. The salesperson and his manager continue evading responsibility for their sale of defective products.
In my efforts to get a solution to my situation, I contacted the Customer Help Desk by e-mail. I exposed the situation to this office and I requested the replacement of the generator and reimbursement for my expenses in order for me to do the job again. I didn't get a prompt response so I called their offices directly. On a telephone conversation with Nicole, of their Customer Service, Virginia Office, I suggested that perhaps the company would take the responsibility to send my car to an auto mechanic shop at their expense to take care of the problem. She said the company sells auto parts to "do it yourself" people, therefore, she said if I paid a professional auto mechanic to the job, her company will not be able to do anything about it, per company policy. However, she said the only thing they will be able to do is to replace the generator, once I pay again the price of a new one, while I return to the store with the defective one.
I am an elderly person, very ill at this moment. I need my car to get me around. My car is not working. For sure I don't have another $500.00 for the job to be done again. At this point, I feel Advance Auto Parts is simply taking advantage of its customers, especially the elderly population. I appeal to the Consumer Affairs to investigate this matter in the hope these practices are stopped and that I can get some solution to my case. Thank you.

I want everyone to pay attention to what I have to say here because you could be their next victim! Advance Auto Parts ripped me off! After purchasing over 100 bucks in brake parts from their site (online), I was promised a $50 voucher (Gift Card) to use on my next online purchase. A month later as promised, I got the $50 discount on my next order (seat covers) but had to return them because they didn't fit my truck. I must point out that there was nothing on the online order form that posted what year, make and model the seat covers would fit, just a listing for truck seat covers. Okay. They didn't fit so I carefully put them back in the package and returned them. Then I got no credit back. Yep, they literally ripped me off! No store credit, no gift card, no online credit, zip, zero, nada, nothing!
I called customer service who acknowledged that, "Yes, we see you returned the merchandise, but you can't have credit back because there is this clause in the fine print of the voucher discount that states, "Gift card has no cash value." What the ** does this matter? I'm not looking for cash here people. I just want store credit for my return. I again want to make this clear. This return was not a return of the original merchandise, this is a return of goods purchased with a voucher (gift card) that Advance Auto Parts offered to me for purchasing the 100 bucks of parts to begin with. No, I'm not making this up! They give you a gift card. You use it to buy seat covers that don't fit.
You return the merchandise in resalable condition. Then, too bad, no store credit, no account credit, no mailed gift card, nothing. I have gone round and around (and round again) with their online customer support. What a joke this experience is! I sent a letter to their CEO, Darren Jackson, expressing my sincere displeasure of his company's returned goods policy in May with no reply. Until I receive a full store credit for the cost of these seat covers, look out, world. I will yell from the rooftops at the top of my lungs! Do not do business with Advance Auto Parts stores.
