I called AAA to report that I needed a tow on interstate 95. I was in the shoulder and standing aside the car down a hill away from the highway for 4 hours. They never even dispatched anyone. I had to call a towing company myself and pay out of pocket because AAA Plus apparently couldn’t call a towing company. 5 1/2 hours after my request for service I finally received a call asking if I still needed service. If you’re thinking of spending money to join AAA, don’t.

The AAA tell lies to lure into getting you towed at a AAA mechanic or shop. Only to learn that my car won't get looked at for several days, mind you the AAA advised me that I have "priority" and my car would be first to get looked at. This is a lie!!,

I had been waiting patiently for my AAA plus membership tow home. I called at approximately 9 pm. Now AAA has informed me that they cannot find a driver to tow my car and I may have to wait til tomorrow to get it towed. They could have told me this 3 hours ago, or even an hour and a half ago when they texted me there might be a delay. To say I am beyond pissed is an understatement. Their customer service will be hearing from me on Monday. You pay for 24 hour roadside coverage and you don’t get it? Now at 12:20 at night my wife has drive to Phillipsburg to pick me up. It’s a goddamn hour each way. She is a SAINT!!!! AAA told me to leave the keys and as soon as a driver is available they will tow my car. That sounds like a GREAT idea. Good business practice AAA. #24hourroadsideassistancemyass

I WOULD GAVE 0 STARS IF I COULD!!! In the 5 years that I’ve had AAA, I only called for a tow twice. The first time I was given an ETA of 2 hours. After the 2 hours, I was told that the driver was nearby my location in Ohio. Meanwhile, I was in Miami Florida. Not sure where they got that location, when I gave the zip code and address when I called for the service and repeated the address multiple times. After that, I waited an additional 2 hours and walked home before getting a call that they would be 20 minutes away. Today, October 1st, 2022, I put in a service request at 0702 in the morning, to be told at 1227 that the driver is 20 minutes away, when the mechanic shop closes at 1300. Thanks for nothing AAA. Your company is the worst I’ve dealt with. The only good thing is that you can get in your car when you lock yourself out. NEVER CALL FOR A TOW!!! THIS COMPANY IS THE WORST THERE IS!!!

I had called AAA for 2 flat tires and the dispatcher sent a AAA pick up truck 6 hours later. I thought they would have sent a flatbed. The driver in the pickup told me that he didn't have Jacks to jack up the truck to change the tires. He also said that he wasn't allowed to repair 2 flats. He then told me I would need to call AAA back and request a tow truck. I feel like the dispatcher should have been aware that her service pick up trucks aren't allowed to repair 2 flats. So after 7 hours I was still stranded and didn't get my truck towed until the next day. AAA service has really went down the toilet. I would recommend using a different roadside assistance service.

Last night at mid-night, our vehicle was hit by a deer. We were not hurt but our vehicle was not drivable. We called police and they arrived quickly. We called AAA to have car towed and were told someone was coming- name of company and where it would be towed. We waited 4 hours! Called several times. Each time was told they will call us and that we need to stay with car. Our lives were endangered by sitting there with hazards on all night with tractor trailers flying by.
By 4 am we were told no one would come till 7 am - so get ride home and come back. We did, only to call from vehicle at 7am and when they answered they have no record of our request. Did process again and waited till 10am. Called again and AAA said we need to start over. We had 4 texts proving we called with reference numbers. She herself committed to calling back by 11am to be sure someone came. NO ONE EVER DID!!! We called insurance to put in claim and within few hours they sent tow truck! We could leave vehicle with keys hidden and go home. It’s now 8pm and still no call from AAA. I am cancelling my subscription I have had for over 25 years! First time I really needed them and they failed miserably!

AAA took my money without any mention of labor shortages, is very noncommunicative and farms out their work. I got ripped off! After a 4-hour delay, they tried for 5. Then they started lamenting the lack of labor, etc. Never again. AAA has long tried to use any little thing to escape a service call, but today THIS AAA is only a shell of the old one. Just call a tow truck. It will invariably be faster. AAA is a "tick" on the business (opinion).

We were told a "corporate committee made the cancellation decisions and there was no redress or extenuating circumstance reinstatement available. I have been a member of AAA for 20 years and used them only once before about 9 years ago. A few weeks ago I was traveling between Anson, Texas and Breckenridge, Texas when I had a blowout. I changed the tire but my spare only had 30 psi (normal for the tire is 80 psi). I limped into Albany, Tx at 10:00. All I needed was air. All of the service stations were closed or had no air compressor. Called AAA. Sat on hold for 25 minutes and then was told it would be 47 minutes for someone to arrive. Waited an hour. Called them back and was hold for another 10 minutes and finally talked to someone. She put me on hold for another 15 minutes or so and then another person got on the line and asked me what the problem was. I told her and she contacted the dispatcher. After another 5 minutes she came back on and informed me the tow company they had called declined the job.
I guess I would have sat there forever if I had not called. I limped on into Breckenridge at 12:45 AM on my own doing 30 mph. The one ** time I needed AAA they could not perform. I canceled my membership the next day. This is the first review I have made but am making it my hobby to notify as many sources that I can to report what a scam this is.

We've had AAA Road Side Assistance for many many years. My daughter needed a tow late at night in a bad area. It took them several hours. They have only one tow truck driver for our entire county which has a large population. I'm very disappointed. AAA asked her to leave her vehicle unattended and the tow truck driver would get there when he could. This was unacceptable as vehicles are stolen frequently in this area. AAA doesn't make us feel secure anymore.

Our family has been with AAA over 40 years. My father passed away in November and I had to drive his car 400 miles back home, we both had AAA and he had it his entire driving career. I got a blowout tire about 150 miles into my trip on highway 99 in California in a really bad part of town on the side of the freeway. I called the number on the back of my member card and was told I wasn't a member and they couldn't help me, I argued and insisted that I was and my membership was valid another 6 months.
The agent was very rude and left me stranded with my father's car in the cold and dark on the side of the freeway in a crime infested town. She called me back 20 minutes later and told me that they found my membership and was sending help but didn't know if she should call AAA Southern California or Northern California. Very traumatic experience especially being in shock and grieving. Never again will I be a member and I cancelled everything!! Pathetic that they would treat a customer of over 40 years like that.

So around 6:30pm, my car had a flat tire and I didn’t have a spare. Therefore, I need a tow truck to an auto place to get my tires replaced. So I called Triple A, and they said they would have someone out by 7:40pm. 7:40pm came and went, and no notification, update or call. So I called Triple A to check, and they said they were working on sending someone out from Coastal Towing. After hanging up them them, I called Coastal Towing to verify. Coastal Towing had NO RECORD of anyone requesting service from Triple A, or anything under my name. Huh. Interesting.
So I called Triple A back, and told them this. After being on hold for 15 minutes while they “looked into it,” they said they were having technical issues and working on sending someone out. So this entire time, I’ve been sitting there thinking they had already sent someone out. Nope. I finally called another towing company myself, and they were there in less than 15 minutes. The towing guy also said I can take the towing invoice and submit a reimbursement from Triple A. Triple A NEVER SHOWED, NEVER called!! This is the SECOND time they have no called/no showed!! So, next time you are in need of a tow truck, don’t waste your time and just call a towing company yourself, and then submit a reimbursement!! If I would have done that in the first place, I could have saved myself 3 hours and gotten home before dark!! I will not be relying on Triple A again!

I would have thought this would never happen for me to leave an unsatisfactory review on AAA. However, on Saturday, August 27, 2022 I needed a tow of about 44 miles and AAA wanted to charge me $273.00 dollars or ($7 dollar per mile). I was appalled having been with them for more than twenty years and my last membership was the (Premiere) and the highest one they have.
I am in the process of building a home and been consumed with this. I inadvertently missed renewing my membership and there has never been a lapse in the past. It was an oversight. AAA sent me a letter in the mail and I finally renewed online and erroneous chose the "classic" membership. I did not realize the limits of 5 miles a tow verses 100 miles on the Plus or Premiere membership. I am human and it was an error.
I did not even know until Saturday when I needed a tow. Then I called and they said I could upgrade my membership (which I did) because I've always had the top membership. I asked is they could factor in my long standing membership and being loyal to them and waived the three days for me to use my upgraded membership. I was transferred 3-4 times and bounced around like a juggler in a clown show. I was explaining my dire situation with every transfer over and over and told only a supervisor could waive the three days.
I was appalled that I was being treated with such hostility (as the last supervisor, Sabrina - ** woman) talked to me with curtness, sarcasm and gross disrespect. I felt so humiliated and am looking for other Auto Clubs to join. I really could not believe that my twenty year loyal membership meant nothing to AAA in my time of being stranded and needing a tow in an emergency situation. They wanted $273.00 or told me to call back in three days for the free tow. I was mortified and was in disbelief.
I am the kind of person that gets with a company and remains i.e. I have been a Bank of America customer for about the same time. And when I need BOA to respond to me they do it with professionalism and the utmost customer service. And they always tell me how they appreciate my being a loyal customer. I am a stickler for this kind of things. So, if anyone can recommend a better Auto Club, please by all means let me know. Because AAA is a gross joke for a company.

After experiencing good service with AAA we decided to purchase their membership for discounts and roadside assistance in case our cars ever broke down. Well, my tire blew out (not like the documentation said - flat tire) and I was stranded around 9-10pm on I-16. I was fortunate that it happened just after an exit with a gas station. I managed to back my car up the ramp because AAA said it would be an hour. Then they cancelled the call then and never came, never called back. My husband, now awake and worried, called and called and called -- the dispatch finally told him that they wouldn't be there until 6am.
The gas station closed and finally some nice men helped me get my spare on, with a lot of effort -- it blew out, not just a flat! I left around 1:15-1:30am. AAA said they were there at 1:40 -- and that they would credit the call. That was what was documented. Our office promised to renew our membership for us... AAA said - they don't do that! Then they had the nerve to tell me that they document everything...document this -- your documentation is only as trustworthy are your people and that means very little. For such a wonderful institution, you have truly sunk to a new low.

AAA's service on August 14-15, 2022 for a Milton, MA call was despicable. We had a flat tire, called for help at 11:30 PM, they said they'd be there 12:30 AM. By 2 AM, still no show. We kept calling in, disgruntled and unhelpful operators answered with "we have reached out to dispatch, no reply, when we hear back, we will let you know." Beyond unhelpful. No specific time was shared, which would force us (two women) to wait until sunrise for ONE tow truck driver for the entire New England region. Since we both work 9-5 jobs Monday-Friday, we had to get home. Our only option was to order an Uber/Lyft, because we were not riding our bicycles from Milton, MA to East Boston, MA at 2:30 AM. AAA should reimburse us for having to order a Lyft on its negligent dime.
As two women sitting on the side of the road in the middle of the night with no food, water, or a place to go to the bathroom, AAA put us in enough danger. Mentioning two women is important, because years ago, there was a famous case on Cape Cod where a woman called AAA needing help. In the 4-6 hours that AAA took to get to her, she was raped and murdered. AAA says that they "really care and are concerned for their customers," but the above experiences prove otherwise. They clearly don't pay a livable wage for those who are literally saving lives, because all they care about is their bottom line. I haven't had a AAA membership in years, and these experiences prove that I will never buy one again. Life is too precious to buy AAA.

Do not use AAA. They do not care about Membership!!! I have been a member of AAA since 2002 and my husband at least 3 years before. After we married in 2007 we combined the memberships. My husband received a letter (since he had the older membership) informing him that membership would not be renewed at the end of the current membership term. On August 22, 2022, I reached out to AAA to find out why our membership was being canceled and was told that no exact reason was available. Eric who I was speaking to was the final voice I could reach. There was no one higher than him. He told me that although we had not even used the services in over a year, the decision was based on several previous years of service.
He reminded me that they reserve the right to cancel at any time with no reason or for any reason.. He also referred me to the handbook which he said may not contain the issue they based our cancellation on and that they were notifying us before the end of our service period so we would have time to find other services. This is totally unacceptable. To cancel after over 20 years and refuse to give any explanation or reason except we can cancel for any reason or no reason.

If the option to give a 0 star review was available I certainly would have chose that. AAA has proven to be unreliable and unprofessional. Honestly, at this point the membership service is a complete rip-off. The discounts are at best minimal and the road-side assistance is a joke. On 2 separate occasions I had a vehicle issue that resulted in needing a tow.
On the 1st incident I called AAA and sat for several hours (from 11:50pm until 7:30am) waiting for them to send a tow driver to retrieve my vehicle. The second incident occurred at roughy 1:45pm in 90+ degree weather. AAA was called using the 1-800 number for roadside assistance I provided my member number and all the information. I received a text confirming my service request. Roughly an hour later another text came through informing me that a driver was enroute but no one showed up. So called back the dispatcher placed me on hold then returned to say that she located an available driver and he will be on the scene by 3:55 which was 50 minutes from that time. More than hour had gone by and still no tow truck.
I Called AAA once again and was told by The dispatcher that a driver came to the scene but did not see the vehicle and tried to call me but I didn't answer so he canceled the tow and left. Enraged, I informed the dispatcher that I had been sitting there the entire time and not one single tow driver had pulled up or driven by the location and I never got a phone call. The dispatcher read back the number that the tow driver supposedly called which was not even my number, my number which was number that was on the tow request, the number I provided for contact & the number the tow service confirmations were coming through on.
When asked why would that not be the very same number given to call the dispatcher could only say he didn't know. For the driver to say he came & didn't see the vehicle was insane. The vehicle had stalled out at an intersection and could be plainly seen without any obstruction of view from all 4 ways there was no way that anyone had drove by there and not seen the vehicle sitting there with the hazard lights on.
I requested to speak to a member of management. She was placed on the line and began to look into the issue. She explained how things became crossed up and how AAA had indeed dropped the ball with this situation. Turns out that not only did they give the wrong number to the driver he was given the wrong address by the dispatcher too. At that point I was furious, the manager on the line was very apologetic but after all that foolishness I was over the entire situation and altogether through with AAA and their mess. I had been a customer for over 10 years but what was once a great service is now a hassle and an unnecessary expense.

I have been loyal to AAA for over 29 years because I love their services. Recently, the services have gone downhill. My elderly handicapped father requested roadside assistance and no one showed up until 4 hours later! I use AAA for their convenience and safety, however this is far from convenient and unsafe. My dad waited a whole 4 hours stranded on the road, which is uncalled for. I had issues with their services lately too. I had to get my car towed. Called AAA at 7 AM and they said they’d send someone by 8AM. No one arrived.
It got cancelled at least 3 times and I FINALLY got my car towed at 2PM after going back and forth on the phone the whole day, nearly 7 hours later!!! What am I paying for?? This is ridiculous. My brother also had a flat tire, and they kept canceling the request and rescheduling it. It took over 12 hours for them to come put a spare on his car! I’m super upset and disappointed. It is very unfortunate to see AAA treating a loyal member like this and I would like a refund.

Just call us back when you're available." I understand that things happen, but no communication? Just continue to give her the time she was first given. 3:05am.... I found out that my daughter was still there when she called after getting help from the morning employees at her work. I am disappointed, I got this specifically for this reason. I understand that you rely on third party entities in order to give this kind of service. But, AAA has some responsibility to follow thru. He's given a service window, leaves work to meet the truck but it never shows. A new service window is given, he leaves work again but now there is no truck available. Why the bother giving him an ETA when there is no truck coming? I have never experienced such a completely inept level of service and disregard for customer service. I have found stranded female motorists waiting 3 hours in the dark. Have had their truck show up only to say they won't tow and give no reason. AAA is just as culpable because they continue their business with this company and apparently are not upset at how their paying customers are treated. Get roadside through your car insurance. My child and I waited at the end of a driveway off of a highway. I was told on MORE than 3 occasions, service was on the way last night. My mother called and was told the same. As did my husband and he was told services were coming. Had I continued waiting, myself and my MINOR child would’ve spend 11 hrs in my car. Had my infant been in the car, I cannot imagine relying on AAA, would have ended in anything less than her being hospitalized.
My car is just now parked, the less than 2 miles up the road, that I needed to travel to be in a safe and familiar environment after roughly 11 hours. Until speaking with the supervisor last night, NOT ONE AAA employee called to update me or let me know that service was not actually coming. I let my car run for HOURS, praying not to run out of gas or anything to keep my child cool because, “service was on the way”. Original time was 9:23. I sat on hold an hour, at 11:15pm, when service time was 10:05. After my hour long attempt to reach agents, I was told an additional 1.5-2 hrs. Just after 2:20am,
I was told 25 minutes until arrival. At nearly 4 am, I was finally told AAA had not even secured a provider. This was via the supervisor. Not a single agent contacted me to let me and my CHILD know, help was not coming. I am absolutely disgusted and will share my experience for other mothers who may waste their money on this company that obviously does not have enough concern to even update their customers when they lie about service times. I do not recommend AAA to anyone anymore. Wish I could do 0 stars! This is now my second bad review for them. My whole family uses roadside assistance and so does my partners family. AAA can expect to lose at least all 10 of use as clients. This is not the first, but the second time that AAA has left me stranded for multiple hours! The first time it was 8 hours and this time 6 hours. The first time we had to reschedule and get a whole new request for roadside assistance as no one showed up and they claimed they had no request, when we had proof of a request.
This second time, we used the app instead of the horrible lack of help via the phone line. We were stranded at our pets vet. The ETA was 4:25 pm and we scheduled it around 1:00pm. At 4:30pm we decided to call as no one had showed up, we had received no updates, and we had been stranded for hours with our sick pet, no water, no food and no tow truck in sight. The first customer service rep is by far the most unfriendly and anti-customer rep I have ever spoken to!
They told us they had no tow truck or drivers to pick us up. When asked why no one let us know hours ago they had no answer other than “our system doesn’t allow that”. When asked what they could do for us they said they couldn’t do anything and neither could the supervisor. Such **! The rep actually encouraged us to find an alternative tow company to pick us up claiming AAA would reimburse us. When asked to verify that we will get our reimbursement they couldn’t do that either. So essentially they are “really sorry” but they cannot provide us, their customers, a service and led us to wait under false pretenses for hours on end. Calling the second time, we spoke to a supervisor who claimed to try and find us an alternative service.
The supervisor called us back 10 minutes later with more “I’m sorry I am unable to find you a service”. Essentially what I have learned from this unimaginably poor lack of customer service is that I wasted my time, money and energy with AAA. Will never be using them again, nor will I ever recommend them to anyone. They take your money, leave you and pets stranded for hours, and cannot find you a solution even if that is their job. Looks like I will be using an alternative tow company in the end. Wasted all day; thanks AAA!

(I regret that there is no ZERO star rating.) My granddaughter asked me to go with her to pick up another vehicle and drive hers back home. Her car needed to see a mechanic, and - consequently - it lost the fan belt on the way to pick up other vehicle. I called AAA ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE at 4:09 p.m. Was told it would be 1½ to 3 hours for the tow truck to arrive. After the 3-hour wait, I called to check and was told that no one picked up the call. ???? Apparently, a service call had been sent out to tow associates in my area and NONE of them were interested in taking the call.
In 3 HOURS AAA had not checked to see if a truck had been dispatched. The service rep offered no other assistance. She simply informed me that the call had not been picked up. I hung up to consider what to do. Decided to call a local tow service whom I believed to be a AAA associate in hopes that they would take a direct call for AAA. They told me that they had dropped their association with AAA a couple of years ago as AAA was so difficult to work with/for. It is now 3½ hours so I called Roadside Assistance again. This time I got a Rep that was a bit more interested in helping. She put me on HOLD to check to see if she could find an available tow service. I waited for a while; tried to check on the AAA app for up-date info. The AAA app showed that they had the WRONG ADDRESS for our location - 3 blocks away. I was able to get them to correct that. When I went back to the phone call I found that the "on hold" call was disconnected.
SO, after nearly 4 hours we had to leave the car (fortunately in a parking lot and not roadside) just before 8 p.m. Called my wife to pick us up; took granddaughter to get the temporary vehicle; and checked back at the car location at about 8:20 and no tow truck yet. Went home with plans to call AAA in the a.m. Received a call from tow service at 7:21 a.m. They had the correct info on the car and asked about the keys. Said if we put the key under the mat that they would pick up the car and deliver to the destination we had specified. We drove to the car; put the key under the mat; and returned home as people have to go to WORK. Tow driver called at 8:41 a.m. when he arrived at the car - 16¾ HOURS after request for Roadside Assistance.
I have been a member of AAA for 56 years. Rarely needed roadside service but when I did it was very helpful, and only a couple of times a long wait. That was why I am still a member. HOWEVER, it appears that AAA is another victim of the "Digital Age". With GPS and YELP people do not NEED road maps nor Tour Guide Books any longer. The local office has downsized and relocated. When I joined I was a Designer at Hallmark Cards. They, too, have been decimated by social media and now rely on the Hallmark Channel to survive. I shall not have a 57th year with AAA. This last experience is UNACCEPTABLE and - never again.

Up until this experience, I really had nothing bad to say about AAA roadside assistance. I always said I wish they could respond more timely, but I understood, things happen. But after this experience, we are seriously reconsidering continuing our membership at all! My car broke down on Wed, May 18, around 2:30 pm. I procede to call and request a tow. The service call was registered at 2:55pm. It took until 10:45 pm, on Thursday night, May 19, to get a tow truck to bring my car less than a mile to my home. This is after multiple (possibly 15 -20) calls to request updates (the app was still showing ETA 3:25pm May 19), only to be repatedly told "We have a truck on its way to you."
When I did ask for a supervisor or manager (Yeah, yeah, call me Karen) I was put back into the interminable hold loop, only to be picked up by ANOTHER level 1 associate, who could only repeat the same thing. (It's a good thing I do not have HBP, or I would probably been hospitalized!) Being a single mom, and the fact that AAA had auto renewed (Minus the applicable discounts, so, far above the expected amount) the account 2 weeks prior to this, at full price, I was not in a position to "Pay for my own tow truck and submit the billing for reimbursement". After the third associate recited this option to me, I asked, "Now, if you cannot get a tow driver to my car, what makes you think I will have any better luck? After all, it seems you ONLY have 1 company in all of Hillsborough County FL that you work with!" To which they promptly disconnected the call. (Yes, blood pressure DID tick up a few notches after THAT call!)
Oh, and the "Press 1 if you would like to receive a call back in the order in which your call was received" option? Took them almost 3 hours to call me back, which was AFTER I had already had to attempt to call back 2-3 times. I was also told (Numerous times) that I would be receiving a call from Dispatch to let me know when a driver was 15 minutes away. I didn't. I was called and told the driver was at the car, and where was I with the key. Right around the 24 hour mark (Approximately 3:15 on Thursday) I had one associate (one of the only 3 that actually looked over and read the notes on this service ticket) comment "Oh my! You have been waiting 24 hours! I am going to have my team manager take a look into this and see what we can do. I will have her call you directly!" She then proceeded to verify my number, which was also something none of the other associates had done, when promising call backs.
So, in closing, after 31 hours of waiting, calling, stressing and researching alternatives (not to mention, worrying my car would be impounded), I finally have my car back in my driveway, where I can make the simple repair needed to get her running again. (Actually was afraid the fuel pump would arrive before the car!) Not sure if this nightmare was because of a poorly communicated service need from the call center, and their failure to reach out to any other tow companies, or if it was because of the tow company(s) who either were short handed, or just dismissed the urgency of the call. Regardless, I think it is time to invest in a tow chain and/or a tow strap! P.S. I DO want to say Thank You to the handful of associates (Rosy, Dennis, and Angela) who were polite, compassionate, empathetic and wholly professional, while attempting to help me with this nightmarish situation. I truly wish this company had more employees like you!

Been a member 22 years. Had to repair an exhaust on my Jeep. I'm an essential worker and worked 50-60 hour weeks. Plus winter would never end this year. After finally repairing my exhaust, I made an appointment for inspection. A day later my Jeep wouldn't start. I had no time to figure it out, so I figure I'd get it repaired with my inspection. AAA denied my tow because it was past inspection. Why? It's registered and insured up to date. Still wouldn't tow it. After paying for roadside assistance for 22 years, I am canceling my membership. I gave all to my community for the past 2 years, and AAA screwed me. I am done with them.

This company is useless. I always have to wait forever for service, had to pay out of pocket for last tow out. They refuse to reimbuse me for it. Sent a terrible company to do the tow, was charged 200 (he originally wanted 300, but changed his mind when I said no thanks!) and the guy had no clue what he was doing. His main concern was liability, not getting my darn car out! He kept asking me how we should get it out, and asking that I don't hold him liable...crazy! The whole tow out took 10 minutes, and the car was not damaged, so why are they treating it like a wreck tow?? I know for a fact if I had just called someone local, it wouldn't be more than $90. We have a total of 4 members with service cards, one of which has been a member for over 25 years. Guess we need to ditch this company, like yesterday!

My car broke down on the side of a busy highway, it was a dangerous situation. I had to climb a hill to stay away from my car and traffic. AAA could not find me a tow, 5 hours later they tell me to get my own tow truck and they will reimburse me fully. Now that I have filled out all of their paperwork and mailed it in to them, they are now not reimbursing me full. So they can't tow you and then they won't fully pay for a tow they said they would pay for. I don't understand what they are useful for anymore. Been trying to reach out to them for them to fix it but they just leave me on hold for long periods of time kind of like they did when I was stuck on the side of the road...

I have got AAA membership for 3 years. Had great expectations but it was a big disappointment. Every single time I needed to use my membership benefits, it was like pulling teeth: no commitment, disrespectful, unprofessionalism, careless. Even the home and car insurance was a rip off, they always have something to say to not commit. When they provide roadside assistance, expect them at least 1 hour after the ETA they give you. I slept in my car one day on I-85 with my 3 kids inside, only for them to come the next morning for just a jump start.
When I got a new car, I got rid of them. They had installed a new battery in my wife's car a year or two ago (I mean I paid for it), with warranty. After I canceled my membership, the battery broke down. I called AAA and they told me: "You need to be a member to take advantage of the battery's warranty." I am very happy to cancel my membership, less stress and arguments for me. The internet reviews are correct, AVOID AAA.

I have been a member since 2014. Fortunately I have never had to use the service. The one time I did need the service in 8 years was horrible. You cannot talk to a live operator without going through the menu that takes forever. Even when asked to press a certain number to get through the menu the automated service does not recognize the number I pressed. When I finally got the tow scheduled it stated that they would be to me in 2 hours. Once the 2 hours approached I received a call from AAA representative that they were still trying to located a vendor. Another hour and a half passed and I received another call from an AAA representative that they found a vendor but it would be another 60 to 90 minutes. Total wait time is expected to be 5 hours. Likely I was at my home. After 8 years of membership I will most certainly not be renewing my membership in November. I will be switching to Good Sam Roadside Assistance as they are rated #1.

Buyer Beware!!! Do yourself a favor and choose another auto club/roadside service provider. AAA took advantage of my 76 year old mother, suffering from Alzheimer's disease, selling her a bad battery but refusing to honor the warranty when the battery died with 4 months and less than 100 miles on it! I moved my mother from Colorado to Georgia when she was no longer able to live on her own. Her sister (who is a AAA member) traveled back to Colorado with her to close her house and get her belongings sent to Georgia. In the process they found that her car battery was dead and had AAA come out to replace it, selling her a new battery with a (supposed) 6-year warranty.
Fast forward to May (4 months later), the battery died and would not jump start or take a charge. I spent the better part of the day on the phone with AAA in Colorado and in Georgia trying to sort things out, only to eventually be told that they might sell the battery to my mother as a non-member/previous member with an expired membership, but that they wouldn't honor their warranty. Their shoddy business practices and clear willingness to take advantage of an elderly woman suffering from dementia such that she couldn't understand or remember that nuance even if it were explained to her initially have guaranteed that I won't be doing business with this outfit in the future.
One point of note, the Colorado club did work with me diligently to get the documentation I needed to show the purchase and warranty since my mother could barely remember the exchange and certainly not the details. It was on the Georgia end that I received no help. I did end up going to the local auto parts store, testing and verifying that the 4 month old (with less than 100 miles) battery was indeed bad, and buying a new battery, which solved my issue.

Some days I would need to wait longer for their services due to high demand but they would always be there and never not showed up. My fiance and I were planning our honeymoon and my mother suggested we use AAA travel service, she said it was free for members. Well, we contacted AAA, and set up an appointment, they asked us where we were traveling and what dates, etc.
By the time we got to our appointment the travel agent had everything taken care of, a variety of flights and times for us to choose from, places to stay to choose from, prices, and papers printed off for things to do. All we had to do was pay for our plane tickets, rental car, and hotel rooms. After we left the travel agent kept in contact with us letting us know of changes and telling us what we should do with said changes. It has been great and I highly suggest using them next time you decide to go on a trip!

Been a AAA member with my parents for a few years and have needed to use it twice. The first time they left me waiting on the side of the road for 8 hours with a disabled vehicle. They kept saying someone was coming but nobody was being dispatched. Tonight my dad was driving us home in the rain on the interstate and there was a pothole in the fast lane and we blew a back tire. We immediately requested help- giving out coordinate location, AAA membership number, cellphone, email, and full name. We were given a wait time of 53 minutes so we called asking if anyone could be dispatched sooner since we had my two kids in the car and it was 10:45pm on the side of i78. We were told they’d be there at 11:50 and to call the police.
I phoned 911 for the first time in my life, my dad getting out a senior man getting out the donut trying to save us from this precarious situation, and the AAA representative said it’s only been an hour? And asks for our email again. When we say we need an ETA, we’re told to be patient and have a fabulous day. The representatives from the company were patronizing, rude, and indignant- even when the officer asked to speak with them, they said we can only talk to the AAA member! My mother speaks with an accent and the individual kept insinuating she was too difficult to understand! (My parents are highly educated and articulate!)
The cop finally got the lady to give the name of the tow company and the cop called for us and they said 15 minutes. After an hour and a half- the officer was able to get the same company that AAA supposedly dispatched there- in 15 minutes. It was a 2 hour ordeal from hell. Kids had to use the bathroom, the officer even said we are in an extremely dangerous place don’t exit the vehicle and put up flares! AAA couldn’t care less! Their professionalism is deplorable! I would never use them again or recommend them to a friend. Their ability to generate tows is problematic since these companies don’t even want to work with them. In the first incident I was told the tow companies just clear any request coming in from AAA because they never get paid! Well we pay every month and can’t get help when we are in dire straits! Turns out they’re damaging relationships between their customers and their own vendors. Hope they go belly up. I know people are fed up!

Each time the phone agent was uninformed and lied. This last time I received a call from a tow truck driver telling me he would be with me in 45 minutes. Four hours later an agent told me that there was no record of the call, nor did they know who called me! So, someone obtained my phone number and location and AAA wasn't even aware. Tow truck come, hooks up my car and is on its way (47 miles trip). The tow driver calls me as he is in route to the dealership and says AAA just called him and said actually she is only covered for 3 miles. The tow driver himself said that if they were told there was any fees involved they would of obtained my credit card number before dispatching a truck to pick up my car. AAA won't acknowledge their employee told me if I waited till the next day I wouldn't have to pay. Now I have to pay $275 to have my car towed. I was told that one would arrive by 10:45 PM. No one came. I called again at midnight. Numerous calls were made after that. Finally, someone admitted to me that no help would be arriving. At 4:00 AM on April 30, a good samaritan purchased a tire patch kit and spent a long time locating the site of the puncture and plugging it. This worked, and I was able to drive home at about 4:40 AM. At noon on the 30th, a tow truck operator called me from the WAWA center asking where I was! AAA didn't even have the courtesy to cancel the request and caused this man to waste his time.

Then the person Couldn’t find the SR 44 where it intersected with 75, he tried pinging my phone (I got that 3 hours later!) - so the short of it they could not locate me.
After 20 minutes, my wife called the “Road Rangers” and while I was still talking to AAA, the road ranger located us, came, changed the tire and directed us to get the tire replaced. So AAA proved to be totally useless, When I filed a complaint with them (took over 40 min) finally talked to a manager (Naomi) and she said listened to the recording and the located the interchange, no problem, and offer $30 off on future membership - I insisted on the next year but apparently I was not worth it to them and as far as I am concerned if I can get the word out about them will be worth it.

I let him know they don't work on this truck. He tried 2 or 3 kinds. Lost count of all the different things he tried. Finally lets the battery charge running off his van with cables and get a start. Runs more test, tells me it's not the battery, I need to take to dealer and get checked. I do that. Pay $200 for a full diagnostic.
Only codes stored are low cranking volt or not enough something to start. Replace battery final outcome. Bring truck home. Drives for 3 days due to charge from dealer, no start. Call AAA out again. Show them paperwork from dealer. Still not replacing battery under warranty. I buy new one, Everstart, much less than what I paid last time. Same warranty. No problems with truck since I installed. I called AAA the next morning. Stegall came to my house as a AAA tech. The tech was great, but he said the even though it only had a 50% charge after being charged by my mechanic, AAA would not replace it. This was the 2nd battery gone bad from AAA. I have entered a complaint with AAA and I'm awaiting their response. I charged that battery overnight and it never went above 55% charge. I called Interstate Battery (the battery brand) and their tech said that indicates a bad battery, usually from age. That battery is less than a year old. I wonder how long it had been hauled around in Stegall's truck.
Prior to this, I had Stegall's tow my car to my mechanic for other service, because it would not start. That was a great experience. The battery service at home was not. The tech was great, but he said that my battery was not bad at a 50% charge. I find this disturbing. Who wants to depend on a battery only 50% good? Certainly not a 70 year old heart failure patient. I'm not real good at walking anymore. I researched and found AAA has a long history of denying battery replacement. I hate that Stegall's follows those guidelines. I am a 38 year member of AAA and I can't get a bad battery replaced. Certainly not Stegall's fault, but they were still point of contact for AAA and I still have a battery that will not charge over 55%.

The agent said she would contact the "desk" again and that they would send updates. I did ask to talk to this "desk" directly as we were not receiving either service or updates. The agent said this was not possible and suggested I call someone for service myself. I explained that I was traveling, not familiar with the area, and that this was why I had AAA... And I callled them. Begged for a regular flat bed. Said we could move the wheel to get it on and they refused at all costs to come. Said no one was available because of the holiday and no one was interested in this call due to the previous driver's comments and we tipped him $30 bucks for coming to blackball us and make us wait longer.. AAA Membership Number 438 ** 1 Premier Membership. 03/08/2022 Applying the brake in my '05 1500, I felt the pedal give and drop to the floor. I immediately threw the car in park as I knew something was wrong. I decided to slow roll back into traffic and, even though the power assist was gone, I was still able to brake at slow speeds. I limped to the first big parking lot I could find because I realized in a very short distance, I was not going to make it the 30 miles to home. Luckily the parking lot I coasted to had a national chain parts and repair shop.
I went in and told the service writer what I thought the issue was and, as expected, he tried to overtalk me and throw HUGE numbers and extra services at me, all before even looking at the car. I was over those guys in a second and decided I would use my AAA repair shop in North Plainfield. I had work done there before and the experience was 5 star, all around. In my previous dealings with AAA repair shops the pricing was industry standard but the transparency and the attention to my needs made a great impact.
I am a premier member so the tow cost me nothing and I was able to call in to the shop and explain what happened. The tow truck driver showed up in about an hour and was an absolute gentleman and ultra-professional. I had my wife come and pick me up with my other son and we enjoyed a day at Chuck E Cheese, making a terrible situation into a great, impromptu, family day.
The next day the diagnosis came in and it was extensive. The truck is older, a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 with over 150,000 miles. It is strong but, at its age, I expect to have repairs. As far as I was told, one of the hoses connected to the braking system blew off and I lost a lot of brake fluid. Apparently, with braking systems, the system needs to be bled fully before repairs can be done. I was told that ALL BLEEDER SCREWS ARE FROZEN and ALL 4 CALIPERS needed to be replaced in order to perform the repair. I didn't understand everything but I did understand it was going to be an expensive job!
But the trust and good faith the AAA Service Center in North Plainfield had instilled in me through previous experience made it easy for me to believe them and trust their diagnosis and recommendation. I called my wife (she uses the truck for deliveries for her business and her safety is of the utmost importance to me) and explained the situation and larger than normal repair cost and asked if she was ok with it. She agreed that the AAA Service Center in North Plainfield had always been fair to us and, if I was ok with it, she was also. I called, authorized the work and, I believe, at that time, made the payment. 03/11/2022 A day or two later I was called and informed that the job was done and I could pick up my truck.
A short time later I decided I would sell my truck. I listed it with 20 pictures. A few possible buyers asked for pictures of the undercarriage to see how much rust was under the truck. I went out on the first sunny day and got down on the ground to snap a few photos. When I looked under the truck from the back I was excited to see these shiny, new calipers! I had forgotten they were brand new and looked awesome in the picture. I just knew these shiny new calipers would help me sell my truck that much quicker. I decided to get pictures of all 4 new calipers to really make an impact in my ad. I shot the 2 in the rear then moved to the front. Front right, gorgeous and shiny. Front left, same caliper from when I bought the car!
I saw RED! I have been in the automotive industry for 16 years, I DON’T use dealership service departments because I have seen so much FRAUD and OVERCHARGING and “MANUFACTURED ISSUES” over the years. I despise those tactics and, therefore, am extremely LOYAL when I find an upstanding mechanic or repair shop. I was honestly hurt on many levels. No one likes to be lied to, overcharged and sent on my way with a job NOT done. I feel like I was “sold a bag of goods” and I have NO CONFIDENCE at all in the AAA Service Center in North Plainfield and my faith in AAA as a company is damaged. I pay for AAA because I BELIEVED in AAA.
I called immediately and explained what I saw. I still have the original invoice and double checked I was charged for 4 calipers and the labor to install them. Keep in mind, I was told, “All 4 needed to be replaced in order to perform the braking system repair”. Was that also not true? I was holding an invoice saying 4 calipers were replaced. An invoice that had me cough up $1550.84 that I did not budget for or have. I had to charge it on a credit card and am still paying interest on an invoice that is fraudulent. The agent that answered the phone seemed genuinely concerned and offered for me to bring it in the next day. I explained I worked all day on Saturday and Monday.
The earliest I could get there was Tuesday and that would be an inconvenience because, as I stated earlier, I’m in the process of selling the truck. She then said to “bring it to her now” and she’d have it checked. I blew off my only early day with my sons, headed to the AAA Service Center in North Plainfield and, when I arrived, the door was locked.
The young lady I spoke with was still behind the counter along with Josh **, the young man who “sold” the job. I had to wait 7 minutes for a customer to be on the way out to actually get in. I approached the counter and told them who I was and they seemed ready. Ready to tell me, they didn’t need to see the truck. It was a communication error on their part. I guess you didn’t need all 4 so the mechanic only replaced 3 but didn’t tell the manager so the manager didn’t adjust the quote, bill, invoice, diagnosis or charge. That they would reimburse me for the caliper ($145.99) but NOT the LABOR-which obviously wasn’t done. Very matter-of-factly. As if it was not a big deal. I’m fuming.

Absolute worst experience I've ever had with a company. It started off pretty normal. I needed a tow and the gentleman on the phone explained I would need a policy with them before being able to get a tow so I started up a policy and everything and explained I wouldn't be able to be present at the time of tow but would be able to leave the keys in the vehicle. He reassured me it wouldn't be a problem. This was all done around 8-9am. He explained the tow would arrive at the location at 10 am to get the vehicle and bring it to the mechanic, at around noon I called to see why the vehicle never arrived and seems like they put the wrong information in for my vehicle (Make and model) but had the correct color and plate number but never called me to let me know the tow truck driver didn't tow my car or to ask what car it was so we set up another tow.
The tow gets there and says he refuses to tow the vehicle if I'm not present which was made very clear from the start that I wouldn't be there, so they set up a third tow which gets there and calls me for one ring and hangs up, I call back 5 times to no answer. I call AAA to see what going on and this is the 4th person I spoke to and she explains they won't tow my car if I'm not there and to get this car towed today I would have to pay an additional $70 or I'd have to wait until tomorrow. I ask to speak to a supervisor and explain my situation and how if they had told me right from the start about the extra charges I would've paid them no problem but now they've wasted half my day and still don't want to tow it. I explained to him it's not the money but the fact I was being deceived the entire time without the vehicle being towed, after it's all said and done he said if I'm not happy with the service to just cancel it, which is what I did.
Just wanted to leave it out in the open for everyone to know they do not care about customer service or trying to help anyone and will keep lying just to try and get the blame off them and on someone else. I confronted the supervisor about the lack of training his team is receiving if 75% of them were trying to tell me to do things one way which seems to be completely against company policy. I would never recommend them to a single person, you would be better off trying to push your car than dealing with the lies and headaches that is AAA. Anonymous ** Association.

I would have rated this a zero, but I had to used at least one star. I had a flat in town and called AAA and was sent a text. I submitted my request at 6:44pm. Was told 50 mins. At 7:40 pm I called back and held over 10 mins to find out that CSR department would have dispatch call me back. At 8:15 pm I called back. I held for 10 mins and was and was told they would get it to the dispatch team and they would get back with me. I told them I wanted to hold since I was told this before and no one ever called. She said she would transfer over to the escalation team. I help another 35 mins. I happened to have someone stop and help me change the tire. They changed the tire before I could get someone on the line.
I was told again when they answered they said dispatch would have to call me back. I told them never mind. They said ok, then I told them I wanted to cancel my membership and was told ok. If I had been on a back road or miles from a town I would understand the delay. There was 4 wrecker services within a 5 mile radius. I will never give my money to them again. Over 3 years and never used it once, but when I did, this is the service (or lack of) I received. Don't waste your money. It is cheaper to call a wrecker yourself.

-Experience with AAA Auto Center on Tanner Rd. Greenville SC. A few days ago, my car would not start; after waiting for 3 hrs., AAA authorized contractor came and boosted it to start. He told to go to AAA on Tanner Rd. and ask them to reboot/energize the battery. The lady in charge there agreed to charge it free of cost, as I am a member and will take 1 to 2 hrs. I let it at 12.05 pm; since I did not hear from AAA, I called to inquire; the same lady said the mechanic just pulled in to charge.
After 10 minutes she called & said battery failed & a new battery need to be installed and total charge will be &268! I said the battery still has 2 more yrs of warranty and I will take there to get checked/charged. When I want to pick up the car, the lady told me not to bring in future for recharging if I had bought the battery elsewhere: he was curt and impolite. I took the car to the garage where I bought it; they charged it for about one & a half hr., it came up to almost full charge and starts till day fine.
-Experience with AAA Auto Center on Pleasantburg Dr., Greenville S.C. In 2019, due to parking on a slope, my parking brake cable under the car came loose, it was evening, I called AAA to tow my car to the AAA Pleasantburg location. I paid the towing company, reasonable. But when I called the AAA office next morning they asked over $170! Which was excessive compared to two nearby garages who said it will cost me about $50 to $80 to re-hook the cable under the car.
--Experience with AAA Auto Center on Tanner Rd. Greenville SC.: A few years ago, close to the year when this AAA location (newly) opened, I took my Toyota car for oil change. I hardly drive the car for a few miles a week. Within a few months, my oil-low warning came, after checking it was very low. AAA has used a very cheap oil, which has burned out within a few months. After that, I never go there for oil change.
In conclusion: the auto service/administration personnel and materials used at AAA Tanner Rd., are unworthy of the reputed AAA name. The charges for repair/replacement are also much higher compared to other garages. Not to forget AAA has a large amount of complaints with a F rating with the better business rating agency. However, no complaint against road service contractors because they do come and help, albeit coming late and pushing to sell new AAA batteries. Thank you for reading.

She gave me false info that if I upgraded right then, it would go into effect and I will not have to pay addtl fee. She transferred me, I explained to the rep, and Tech Taylor who says, that's not true, it would go into effect 24 or 72 hours one of them. That upset me. By that time I had spoken to Cunesha, my angel whom was better help to me than the other 2. By this time I'm looking at the AAA route to see where the tow truck. It showed they would arrive by 4:58. It's after 5 pm they are still no show. I called again and was put on hold for so damn long. The last rep was an angel and was able to assist me after being on hold and no one helping me. I called in after 15 minutes to confirm the accuracy and the service offers to call you back instead of waiting on the line. Well, they don’t actually call you back. The estimated wait time was 10 minutes.
After over an hour I called again and stayed on the line. After another 20 minutes of holding the very nice person on the phone checked with who the ticket was sent to. They said they didn’t offer the service needed; SO THEY DID NOTHING WITH THE TICKET! Had I not called in, literally nothing was going to happen. My wife had picked me up at this point and they wanted me to drive back out there at 10:30 to meet someone. Which would not work so I had to cancel the ticket. Re-opened the next morning and they said they were sending someone out. I have time to write this review because it’s been 2.5 hours and I’m still waiting. The current estimated time of 7:30 tonight after they promised me less than two hours. This is the absolute worst service I have received from any company. RUN, and I mean RUN! Although it took two different truck drivers to finally assist, the outrageously poor communication and total lack of "customer service/ support" was beyond measure. The first driver didn’t have adequate power to jump the truck. Five calls were made to the roadside assistance line, which included 2 hangups and one hold time of over ten minutes. I, myself, finally called as I was unable to physically assist my son. "Nina" in customer service assured me that a nameless supervisor would be calling me or my son with an update "shortly". This never occurred. At this point I question if AAA memberships that I purchase for my household and gift to my children are worth anything at all.

I sat in my car for almost 3 hours with no phone calls from AAA, no text updates and 10 phone calls later…no tow truck.
When a gal finally did arrive, she informed me that AAA had misled me as to what she could do to assist me. She could only try to start my car or tow it but could not install a new battery. After numerous attempts and relocating the jumper cables, my vehicle did start. I drove to a parts store to purchase said battery but they told me it was just fine. AAA was unresponsive, unprofessional and none of the representatives had any desire to actually assist me. I was simply put on hold never to have AAA return. I purchased AAA Premier Plan for $129.00. While in SC my vehicle would not start. So, I went on the AAA app for roadside assistance. The App recommended using transportation other than the tow truck driver due to Covid. So I rode back home with a relative. The person I left the vehicle with had to temporarily put their license plate over mine due to community parking restrictions/ beach area. AAA then sent the tow truck early, and the driver would not tow it because of the plate on it even after it was explained to him. After explaining what happened to AAA Roadside Assistance they refused to tow the vehicle and I had to hire transport services to return the vehicle to my home.
AAA refuses and denies reimbursement of my $350 expense to transport my car to my house. Even though contract terms state it covers any vehicle you are in. I owned the vehicle and had my license plates on it. They refuse to do anything. They are a very unethical Organization, so BEWARE, Especially don't do business with their service centers either. They seem to use their Not for Profit status to generate business at these centers. My experience with these centers they are ripoff artists. They will Sell you services that are not needed. I have been a member and paid customer for over 25 years myself with several of my in house driving children also active members. I recently received a non renewal notification without any warning and no recourse. Of interest it is that I was labeled an “over utilizer." If true, I had not been given any prior indication of it. Admittedly I have used their services up to 1 or 2 times a year. If you go to their website you can actually review how many times you have used their services and there is a maximum that is listed which is typically 2 that was not necessarily present as a limitation years ago. I also find it interesting that there subcontractors, the local individuals that performed the services or do the towing if necessary have found it increasingly distasteful to be a contractor for AAA and it is harder to get them to perform services because of what they have openly complained to the customer as declining reimbursement.
All of which is to say that the service has not been as good as it was some years ago. Still, as a paid member to be suddenly told that AAA was not interested in renewing our membership after 25 years was distasteful at best. A customer service representative, who I discussed this with, was also not very kind and said that there is no recourse and that it was something that they have been doing. Obviously, none of this is going to build a stronger or more loyal customer base or improved their customer satisfaction which appears to have declined over the years. I wished them well but it does not bode well for the survival of this company that had a very good reputation in past years. Sorry for AAA, goodbye!

I gave 3 Stars for the 34 years prior to the 2021. Currently, '0' Stars, there's no reason to pay them anymore. I used to love TripTiks (no need for that anymore), travel info (no need for that anymore), travel/venue discounts (none anymore) and the security of towing (they have let me down last 2x). The only thing left for them to do is back me up with towing. In Sept 2021, I unexpectedly broke down on the Florida Turnpike. Only 4 miles from my exit, narrow shoulder, leaving me In hot sun, no A/C, against a barrier and traffic flying past me inches away.
I immediately called AAA only to wait almost an hour for the tow driver to tell me he was on I-95 (runs next to TP in that area), that he couldn't go on the TP and he'll call back. He didn't, AAA didn't follow up and State Farm Road Ranger came to my rescue. Until I called AAA the next day, they didn't know or care. Claimed I told them I was on I-95. I can't tell you how dangerous and frightening that was. Not an apology.
Then today, called at 9:30 AM and was told "1 hour". I was on speaker, so my son clearly heard the conversation. After an hour, I was told another 90 min, 11:45. I told him I was told an hour and he said it was the time estimate when I originally called. Then made it sound like I should've known or I was wrong about the time. It's difficult enough to have a conversation with all the noise when one is stuck on the side of the road, after waiting a half hour to reach a representative with attitude is unacceptable. On both occasions they attempted to excuse their negligence by lying to me. That's reprehensible. So, when I got home, I called and cancelled. BTW, no refund for the rest of my subscription.

I purchased this insurance as I drive an old truck that constantly requires attention and sometimes it lands me in a tight spot. Last week I had a major brake issue and needed a tow to a repair shop that was less than a 1/4 mile away. I called and talked to the rep for about 10 mins to describe the problem and that I won't be there and where I will hide the keys for the driver. They said contactless pick up is normal and not a problem. I left and while I was on another call AAA called me 2x and when I finally could call back they said since I wasn't there they didn't pick up the truck!!! I was fuming as the drop-off location would close soon. I ask them what happened and they blamed the driver for not reading the pick up details. I told them to reschedule it. They then said when the driver is 15 min away they would call me.
Not sure why they need to call me, AAA has all the details and I won't be there anyway. Any way they call 15 min out and the driver asks me where the car is located. I couldn't believe it, I have spent all this time on the phone with the reps and they don't tell the drivers anything. I spend another 10 mins talking to the driver. Once they arrive on site they can't find the car. It was parked in a parking lot about the size of a typical supermarket lot. Finally I have to take a picture of a map with my finger locating the car in the lot. After this the driver finds the car and sorts it out. Needless to say I am unimpressed by AAA.

On 3/1/22 Gave out of gas on I85 in Auburn, Ala. Called AAA for roadside assistance. After 2.5 hrs. No one showed, we had to call a uber to go get a container to get gas ourselves. Been with them since 2016. Service operator didn't seem to care when we called back to cancel. What if it had been dark and my wife or daughter 50 miles from home would have been stranded for that long of time. Very disappointed with AAA Service right now.

I have been with AAA for 17 years. It even says so on my Card that I am hold here in my hand. I have used them with absolute success in the 2000's and 2010's. However, they are no longer here to help you and I must encourage you to seek roadside assistance elsewhere. I had another tire blowout (I usually incur these once every 4-5 years) and called AAA for help at 10 pm. They told me that the nearest tow truck is 3 hours away. Ok so be it, the labor market is tough right now in this Covid era I understand. I call at 2 hours just to see if everything is underway and they ONLY then to they inform that the tow truck cancelled. I then make 9 additional calls trying to find help. At this point all they do is panic and put me on hold until I hang up at try again. On the 9th call, I finally speak to someone who cares and connects me to a supervisor. The supervisor apologizes profusely for the lack of service but no real action is taken.
At the end of the day, I paid $300 cash to a local tow truck to help with my tire blowout and now AAA will not reimburse me due to their failure. I remind them each time that my Father received prompt service for his tire blowout in the rural swamplands between Fort Lauderdale and Tampa However, when I broke down in a heavily populated suburb of West Palm I was left without service. After 17 years, We are cutting ties with AAA and am joining Progressive. Please do not subscribe to AAA as you will be abandoned in your time of need.

And I received another call saying they were still trying to find someone to pick up my SUV while the were at the accident scene. So what this tells me that the accidents are their priority because the make more money off customer that person car that had to get towed from the accident $500 but our membership don't mean anything to them.
One time before I was still waiting for AAA 3 am in morning and I called them at 6 pm the day before. 3 am they were still finding someone. AAA sent Jenztel Towing to move my car from Champion's Auto Repair in Palm Bay to RO auto repair (where my car was under warranty) in Orlando Fl. I explained in all calls that my front tires were turned to the side and locked up (rack and pinion). AAA sourced the call to Jentzel Towing. The first tow truck sent by Jentzel couldn't load it onto the truck and appeared irritated with me. So they sent out a second truck to tow it on its back tires. Both drivers were curt with me, so I stayed out of their way and limited my conversation with them. They directed me to sit in the cab of the tow truck; I thanked them for letting me out of the cold.
Soon after, I heard a loud crash and knew that something went wrong. Yelling followed, and I vowed to stay quiet and out of it. Sure enough, one of the men opened the cab door and said my tail light was broken. I knew my car had just been damaged by them and told him it wasn't broken before that moment. I had been in the trunk of my car three times that evening and my lights were fine. The mechanics at the shop had seen it for a week and it was fine. I was met with intimidation, so I shut down and returned to the cab. I only spoke again when we were one mile away from the Orlando shop to let him know where to leave the car.
After the tow, I discovered that not only was my tail light damaged, but also that my window no longer works and my safety belt is broken. All of this is on my driver's side. I called Jentzel and they tried to intimidate me on the phone. Jentzel doesn't allow people to leave starred reviews anymore. They have what appears to be set up pictures of friend's/family's cars with stellar reviews on FB.
AAA has been using every excuse to not resolve this problem...holidays, lost emails, miscommunication. Meanwhile, I drive over two hours a day with a broken seat belt and a window broken off its track. (The mechanic glued and taped my light back in place.) I ask AAA when they will fix it and they never have answers. They tell me to call back later and the circle back around starts again.
It was not my choice to use Jentzel. Back when Jentzel allowed reviews, someone left a one star and I can only make a statement by commenting on it. I've been with AAA for a decade and they have been a good company up until this bad experience. I don't know if they have always been this slow to act on a complaint, or if this is just another corporation that in today's times knows it can screw the public. I hope this is resolved and that I can pull this complaint. Until then, my review will stay posted.

On 1/31/22 I was helping a 76 year old woman call AAA with a dead battery. The agent who answered our call asked some questions and then asked if we had removed all snow from around the car. I began to explain to her that the plows had gotten pretty much all the snow out from around the car and there was a minimal amount still just bordering the car but it wasn't a lot maybe 2 inches deep. The agent started to cut me off and kept repeating that I had to remove all snow and couldn't schedule a jump until I did. I tried to explain that it was not anything that would be an issue and that the woman was elderly on a Walker and couldn't shovel it but she just kept over talking me about shoveling.
Mind you I'm just helping her call, we are in an elderly highrise, she has no shovel to begin with and the maintenance are not allowed to shovel out residents cars. The woman just kept repeating herself loudly and then to my shock hung up on us. It was the worst customer service I'd ever experienced with aaa considering we're paying them to help us when we are most vulnerable. I wish I'd gotten her name but it was at around 11:45-12pm. Luckily she hung up on us because I called back had to wait about 20 more minutes till I got an agent but the next one was so nice and had a tow scheduled within minutes. Never asked about snow levels. If anyone from AAA reads this I'd be more than happy to give you all the details you need to track her down and deal with her accordingly.

I was given a case number within three days but never heard from an employee until more than a month later. I am still dealing with the matter. I have gotten multiple quotes for my vehicle damage ranging from $950-$1400 in damages. I have provided a written incident report as well as given numerous pictures of the incident. As requested I have never seen incident pictures that Angel Hands towing has taken of the incident. They have lied to AAA downplaying their mistakes and AAA has sided with angel hands towing in agreeance that they only have to pay $600 of the damages.
I have requested CSR‘s information to handle my matter directly and have never been in contact with them. I am now reaching out to David ** executive of AAA to handle the negligence of my dispute. AAA is my full coverage insurance for multiple vehicles of mine and I am currently now looking for a new insurance provider that will hold up to their standards they promise their customers. I sat on the side of the road for going on 6 hours with no help in sight. I have been a member for over 8+ years and currently have the plus membership with RV. I followed the prompts via the text message link. I even went as far as to include driver notes so that they would know I am in my dually truck and towing my 44’ fifth wheel toy hauler. The contracted AAA tow truck driver arrived at my location with the wrong truck and informed me that his computer system did not show that I had RV coverage and he hadn’t received any notes on what he was going to pick up. I called customer service multiple times and every AAA representative was able to confirm that I HAD RV coverage and they could even see the notes that I had provided for the driver. I had to talk to multiple AAA representatives and the only option I was given was for a new dispatch request to be put out.
I was informed that I would receive a phone call from the heavy tow that was coming to get me and that it should be within 10-15 minutes. All was fine and I was okay with the minor hiccups within the AAA systems but it took a total of 6 hours of waiting before I canceled the RV tow, called a friend and had them come and tow my trailer home. Then I had another tow truck come and get my truck. All in all, I am extremely disappointed in AAA’s ability to make this a seamless experience. I had to do all of the legwork and I had to push everyone that I spoke with to look into why the computer systems had my membership wrong. Out of the 8 years of membership this was the first time I have had to request towing for my RV and AAA left us hanging. If this would have been my wife and kids seeking help in a rural area it could have potentially ended worse.
I wish I could like to request a full refund of my MANY years of loyalty to AAA. I’m a very patient person but this was the worst outcome to the one service I expect to be provided from AAA. If a refund of the ALL the additional subsidies I have provided to AAA for RV assistance cannot be accomplished then I am committed to formally canceling my membership with AAA permanently effective on my renewal date. To further rectify the failure on AAA’s part I wish I could request correspondence from a AAA senior leader for an explanation of how this will be prevented for future dispatches and a root cause as to where and why my membership had been updated incorrectly.
I purchase services from AAA with an expectation that my family will not have to worry if similar circumstances present themselves. Hundreds of dollars have been lost and a 5 day camping trip has been ruined. I have already attempted to speak with a supervisor when I was on the phone with AAA representative Sok (employee #**) and in her words “even if I were to speak with a supervisor, the result would be no different..” I am extremely disappointed with, what I thought, was a company that has successfully brought confidence to so many customers seeking comfort in knowing they have a hand up when needing roadside assistance. My experience has changed my understanding of this… I hope this doesn’t happen to any other current members.

Estimated time until a tow truck could be sent was 239 minutes. 4 hours!! I didn't like it, but I had no choice really. Fast forward to 1 am and my app had not updated any info at all so I called the 800# and the woman told me the driver was finishing up a service call and would be calling me very soon.
My arrival time, according to the app, states 2:15am. Well, now it's 3:05am and ive yet to hear anything , no calls, no updates, so I called back again. The woman put me on hold for about 5 minutes, came back to the line and said "your driver had some delays and will arrive in about 30 minutes." Okay. Fingers crossed. Then I got a text with a link to see where my tow truck was coming from.
A very nice man arrived with a flatbed. Took my key, attempted to put my car into neutral but the battery was dead. He got his jump box, tried to jump it and still nothing. Not wanting to destroy my car, he couldn't get it onto his truck without going into neutral. He asked me how long id been waiting, I said "about 5 hours - since 10:30". He said "oh man. I'm sorry. I usually have about 15 service calls a nite and tonight you're only my 5th one, so something must be up with the dispatch system.". He felt bad he could not tow my car and that i sat and waited all that time for nothing. He asked how far away I lived and I told him about 12 miles. He offered to at least drive me home and I gladly accepted rather than waiting for family to answer a phone or pay for an Uber home.
So while my car sits, locked, in a parking lot, broken down, I have to make arrangements to get back to my car tomorrow, again call AAA and tell them I need a truck with dollies because my car won't get into neutral. AAA could have at least told me their system was down, or behind or experiencing problems. The truck driver was very kind, patient, did what he could do and even went out of his way to drive me home when he did not have to. Kudos to Matthew the tow truck driver.

They were surprisingly quick (30 minute wait on a holiday) and convenient, so I renewed the membership in 2021 and added my parents to the membership for only $140 for the 3 of us. I received a letter a couple of weeks ago from AAA and I thought it was my renewal letter but it was notice letting me know that they will NOT be renewing my membership. I don't recall what the letter said verbatim but I called them about it and none of the reps I spoke to about it were able to provide an explanation because whatever it was that they had tagged my account as was a vague as the letter I received. Essentially, what it boiled down to was, it wasn't cost effective for them to renew the membership because of the number of times we had already used the service. Now, 3 people at 4 tows, jumps, flats, or lockouts per year totals 12 services calls.
My mom, who is showing signs of dementia and doesn't drive as much anymore, used it 3 times thus far in 2021. I used it once in 2021 and my dad hadn't used it at all. So, 4 services calls out of 12 was too many for AAA. When they pitched the service to me, they never told me that they really don't want me to use the service. Had I known, I wouldn't have gotten the service. I was going to renew only for myself this year since my parents no longer drive but that won't be happening. I could tell that Justin was an all-around nice person. He knows his job well. He is an asset to anyone.

My boyfriend has Progressive and they cancelled his call 3 times and 3 horrible hours waiting in cold winter snow. We appreciate how fast the AAA dispatch showed up to help us in our situation! This is a great experience for us with AAA! Thank you.

I called for roadside service on November 21, 2021 from Stuart, FL starting about 1:45 pm. The AAA app. stated the estimate time of arrival to be 5:00 pm. The representative asked where do I want the truck to be towed to. I answered my final designation was Davie, FL which is approximately 93 miles away. My membership allows 100 miles free towing. I also been a loyal member since 1982 with AAA.
About 5:00 to 7:00 pm, I called at lease three to four times asking for the status. Each time AAA offered me to choose another tow company and to google them! I found out around 8:30 pm that the towing companies that contract with AAA didn't want to go to Davie, FL (93 miles away) through my daughter-in-law who also called AAA. If AAA communicated this to me earlier (ie., 3:00pm), my wife and I who are 70 & 71 years old wouldn't have suffered in the shopping center parking lot for over 6-7 hours which was dangerous when the stores closed (ie., Publix) about 9: 00 pm. What's the purpose of benefit 100 miles towing if towing firms with AAA doesn't honor it?

Horrible! People become members because they count on dependable service for help when they are stranded or broke down. Out of the last 3 calls one was never fulfilled, end up canceling after waiting over 5 hours for assistance and the other one also took over 5 hours and he showed up just as I was canceling the service. I pay for a service and you quickly take my money yet don't actually provide a service ...and when I/ we call to say something we just get a sorry! Unacceptable. I travel for a living and count on dependability and for a company to actually provide the service I pay for. I will not be renewing my membership in the future.

On November 17, 2021, the AAA tow truck driver showed up within 10 minutes and stated he would not tow my 2003 VW Eurovan because it had a roof rack. He stated AAA was afraid it might blow off in the wind while the tow was under way. I called another tow truck company, Custom Towing, which was not associated with AAA. The driver from Custom Towing also showed up within 10 minutes and towed my van from Fallon, NV to Reno, NV for $382 with no questions asked and no problems.

I have been a member AAA Oregon and Idaho American Automobile Club for approximately ten years. This critical review details my actual experiences. A road assistance membership can provide peace of mind if the tow truck operator actually shows up. I am a senior citizen in my seventies so help with a flat tire and towing is critically important to me. While living in Gresham Oregon I needed a tow. I called AAA and got a prompt call back from the tow truck driver. The driver stated he was less than five minutes away, knows my apartment complex and would be there directly. The tow truck driver never showed up. AAA Oregon Idaho is completely unreliable. AAA Oregon Idaho paid the no show tow truck operator.
While living in Portland Oregon I got a flat on the highway. I immediately pulled off the highway, pulled into a Shell gas station where the proprietor gave me permission to wait. I made the call to AAA which advised me they would dispatch a tow truck. I waited, waited and waited but the tow truck never showed up. I decided to change the flat myself then went directly to Costco for the tire repair. AAA Oregon Idaho is completely unreliable. AAA Oregon Idaho paid the no show tow truck operator.
During 2021 I visited the Bend Oregon AAA office to handle my upcoming premier membership renewal. The staff was condescending and disrespectful advising me that my membership was still good for three months. I responded that I prefer to renew now and paid the fees in cash. I found the staff dismissive, condescending and unwilling to actually listen to me preferring to push me around. The new membership card never made it to my address. AAA Oregon and Idaho is completely unreliable. I called an estimated half a dozen times but was unable to get past AAA’s clogged telephone system. I had to endure an eternity of marketing propaganda while I waited. I was never able to successfully speak on the telephone with customer service about the lost card. AAA Oregon and Idaho is completely unreliable.
I visited the AAA office in Meridian Idaho. The counter person basically ignored my request for help and spoke to me in a disrespectful and abrasive tone. I decided to speak to a supervisor. The supervisor assured me that this would be taken care of. A week later he admitted he did not order me a new card. AAA Oregon and Idaho is completely unreliable. Once is an accident, the second time a coincidence and the third time the behavior is clearly intentional. By the way AAA Idaho has cancelled my membership because their staff found me abusive. I grew up in the Midwest where we speak in a polite, respectful and truthful manner.
It is no secret that Oregon is expecting a major earthquake on the Cascadia Subduction Zone estimated in the range of magnitude 9.5 or greater. This may trigger numerous other earthquakes and possibly volcanic activity including the Yellowstone Volcano. The truth is Motorists need a roadside assistance company that has the reputation and dedication to provide critical services in a time of need. Can a roadside assistance company that fails to show up to change a flat for a senior citizen be relied upon? During any natural disaster whether it is a tsunami, earthquake or volcanic eruption reliability is everything. When the going gets tough the AAA tow truck drivers will probably be half way to New York when you need them.

Heading to NYC from home (Washington DC), at about 11:30 this morning we had a tire blow out on Rt 95 north of Baltimore. We immediately called AAA and were told assistance would arrive at about 13:10. (We have been AAA members for close to half a century except for periods serving overseas. I am 78 years old with a number of ruptured discs. At the moment I have a pinched nerve in my back. I hold the Vietnam Service medal with two stars.) After at least two dozen calls attempting to get updates, no assistance had arrived by 16:30 and no indication when it would arrive. A good Samaritan stopped and helped change the tire. We never subsequently received any update from AAA. We then had to drive to an Audi dealer to have a new tire installed since the donut spare is good for only 50 km.
The event we were to attend in NY ran from 17:00 to 21:30. At this point there was no way we could arrive within that timeframe. We also lost our Marriott hotel non refundable payment in full. Altogether an incredibly bad show by AAA. I have left out a number of examples of their bungling performance. Audi told us they hear the same complaints about AAA all the time.

I called AAA Friday 11/05/21 around 6pm for service; rep took information; call disconnected. I called AAA back on 11/06/21 at 1023 rep took information and did not dispatch call; which I didn’t know until I called back 2 hours later to check ETA. Unfortunately I didn’t get rep name; system or recording should have that information. I asked for management and was sent to Ryan in customer relations by Philetia. Ryan asked if vehicle was on grass; Ryan wouldn’t allow me to explain that the vehicle had to be pushed out of home owner way partly off drive way. Ryan proceeded to inform me that AAA doesn’t pay for vehicles in grass and rudely stated he cancelled request and that he was not going to argue with me.
My husband and I called back. Lanie entered the wrong address on purpose even after spelling Bend part of the address where vehicle was located; it caused another delay. We called to update address and was informed we had to wait for dispatcher to request another service provider and currently no service providers were available. I called back after a hour wait. Jeff stated no service providers available and didn’t know how long wait would be; at this time we’ve waited over 4 hours. Jeff was asked what I needed to do; Jeff stated I could get my own provider and submit for reimbursement.
I called Southern Towing one of the Providers dispatched earlier; per Michelle she had 2 drivers available. I called AAA back and informed Shana about Southern Tow; Shana stated Southern Tow (station # 5323) was not a company in the area; company they dispatched earlier. Integrity REALLY matters in customer service. Michelle had to call in and get the service request started. My family has been A PAYING LOYAL CUSTOMER since 1989 not to mention going years and I mean years not even having to use this service and this is how we are treated; we’re Thankful it wasn’t our 86 and 82 year old parents trying to get assistance. Please pull recordings. Customer Service Training Highly Vital. I know nothing Will Be Done. I will reach out to Corporate.

50-year member. 5 days ago, my alternator went out 70 miles from home. I contacted AAA for a tow and garage recommendation. I had the car towed to the recommended shop, had the repair completed the next day and returned home. Last night, the alternator light came back on and I called AAA to find out what to do since the repair fell under their "guarantee". The only solution was for me to pay for a tow back to the garage ($500), and let them attempt to diagnose the problem. If you are looking to purchase a membership, please be aware that this is the extent of the supposed guarantee selling point that AAA uses, and I'll be letting my membership lapse at next renewal.

I have been a loyal AAA member for many years. However, their "service" is now nothing short of horrendous. Called for a jump start (dead battery) and was told 4 hours, which is insane to begin with. Four (4) hours later I get another call stating that it would be another 2-4 hours before someone could come out and jump start my car. Then he asked me to call tomorrow instead...Seems to me that AAA wants their membership fees but doesn't want the service they are supposed to provide...Take some incredible advice and research ANYTHING other than AAA to meet your service needs...I plan to reach out to GEICO and subscribe to their roadside service plan...If it was possible, AAA would not even garner 1-Star from me...

I am a long-time customer of AAA and have always had consistently excellent service from AAA roadside assistance, but had to write a review now bc in the past month, my family has utilized roadside assistance at least 5 times! We have had someone locked out of their car at night with no access to spare key, a flat tire, a bad alternator, a dead battery, and then a really bad leaking battery that smelled like rotten eggs!!! In the last event, I want to compliment AAA's roadside responder, Nick, who had to get an odd battery delivered from the office and install it on a dark, wet and cold evening. This service is a must-have for everyone, but truly, if you have teen drivers, it will provide peace of mind!!!

Do NOT ever buy a car battery from AAA. They will NOT honor their warranty even when all evidence shows that the battery is bad. Our history: In Fall of 2019 we had a bad car battery. AAA came out and replaced it for us and said that we had a 3 year warranty for peace of mind. August of 2021: The same car's battery dies. The first mechanic who came out was too busy to do anything other than give us a jump. We were told to call again the next day and have AAA come out again in order to see what was wrong. The next day's mechanic says that he thinks it is the alternator and despite his readout showing that the battery is NOT maintaining a charge, refuses to replace the battery. (The car is 5 years old and has 20,000 miles on it.)
We bring it to the dealership and have them run a diagnostic. To no one's surprise, it's the battery. We call AAA again and ask if they can meet us at the dealership to replace the battery. No problem we are told. Be right there, we are informed. 3 hours later and no one is there. The dealership is closing soon. We call AAA to check where the mechanic is at. Oh, he's another 2-3 hours away. We are told we can just apply for a refund so that we can get our car situation settled. We apply for the refund and are told that they do not trust the dealership and therefore will not refund us the money.
AAA is not worth using unless you just need a jump on the side of a road. Never buy anything from them and never trust their warranties. After doing some Google searching we have discovered that a lot of these car batteries sit around inside the trucks for months at a time and frequently fail. We will not be using them in the future and hope we can prevent others from being subjected to their lying shell game as well.

Dear AAA, Thank you for 16 years of loyal membership (on my part); thank you for being (kind of) there when I needed you; thank you for providing peace of mind while I drove the roads of America ... and (with my tongue placed firmly in my cheek) thank you most of all for, out of nowhere, CANCELING MY COVERAGE USING A VAGUE PARAGRAPH ON "PAGE 41" OF YOUR HANDBOOK.
It's comforting to know that you "had my back" as long as my usage of my 16 year old service use was not "excessive." This notwithstanding that there were many years where I paid my annual family premium and made no use of any services at all! Thank you for being a stand-up company! (My tongue is still firmly planted in my cheek.) I sincerely hope that this review makes more people check with their auto insurance company for roadside assistance coverage rather than AAA! P.S. - My daughter was awarded a free year of coverage because she was kept waiting for more than 4 hours for a tow. AAA canceled that as well!

I needed a tow yesterday. I called AAA and their recording said to use their APP so I did. App said tow truck was on the way and would be there in 45 minutes. After 45 minutes I received a phone call from AAA saying they were just then going to start searching for a tow truck company! They never found a company who would come out because it was Sunday. This was in Peoria, AZ... which is a large suburb of Phoenix. I cancelled my AAA policy and requested a refund before I ever got a tow. I had to find a tow truck on my own. Worst service ever. AAA obviously cannot be counted on.

This is my second experience with Triple A. The first time, they took 2 days to tow my car to a car garage. Today, I am stuck on the street and it’s night, I called for service and customer service is telling me that she can’t find anyone to send to me. She is asking me to try to get a towing company and they will reimburse me or to leave the car, which I told her that it would get towed by police, and she will send for it the next day. The membership is a waste of money.

LET US DOWN! My son was stranded on 290 at 8:00 pm… My son was stranded on 290 at 8:00 pm last night with cars and trucks passing at 100 miles an hour. He called AAA and they said 1.5 hour wait. He told them to send a flat bed because he had all wheel drive. When the truck showed up 2 hours later they sent the wrong truck. They then said it would be another 1.5 hours.
Our plan would only cover 5 miles so I upgraded to premium and they charged my account immediately but told my son it wouldn't take effect for 3 days and quoted him 3.00 a mile. When the truck dropped him off the driver wanted cash (who carries $175.00 cash around) and then charged $6.00 per mile!! Got home to Elgin at 11:45!! Triple AAA is a joke. We've been paying in all these years and never used it. We have 5 members on it. What a racket! For that service last night they should have given him a huge discount for inconveniences. I don't recommend them. Call your own tow truck and save the money!
