August 1, 2021. After mini vacay in Steinhatchee, Fl. 150 miles from home. Called for roadside assistance at 10:15 am. No human had to go to website. Texting for 40 minutes. Received a message that help would be there at 12:50. No one came!!! At 2:10, more texting, said they be there shortly. Called back at 3:50, more texting. No help… At 4:15 we got help from another source. Florida heat. Roadside breakdown and AAA are a Deadly combination. We received a phone call at 5:23 from a man with Roadside Assistance saying he was on his way to pick up our vehicle. He was Just dispatched. I cancelled my request at 4:20 pm. Very Unacceptable...

My 89 year old father in law has been a continual member of AAA since 1951 – yes, 70 years! They have just sent a letter informing him that his membership is not going to be renewed in November. I phoned the call center and was told that there were a number of factors contributing to this decision, designed to protect the company and ‘all’ its members. I was not given specifics, but informed that the decision is final and non-negotiable. Way to go AAA – shame on you!

On September 13, I was on my way to Houston Airport and about 2 miles from the airport, my car broke down. I called AAA at 2230 exactly and a Tow truck driver did not arrived till 0043. Why it took over 2 hours for a tow truck driver to arrived when I'm about 2 miles away from a major airport?. I am disappointed with AAA roadside assistance service. Again, next day, I called AAA to have my car towed from my home to a mechanic shop and it took a little over 2 hours again. But this time, I don't really mind, because I'm at the comfort of my home. AAA needs to find a better independent tow trucks companies contractor in Houston area. Waiting over 2 hours for a tow truck on roadside is unacceptable and dangerous.

No real-time updates, tracking does not work for updates in tow truck. Just the worst experience ever and a day of work destroyed because of their incompetence and failures to even communicate.

One of those ** days with a flat, but that's why you pay that membership fee to AAA year after year. Right? #9yearsstrong. Stuck in City of Commerce with nothing but trucks driving by. Cold and tired. It's about 2AM. Requested tow and ETA was 40 minutes. Then after 40mins, I got TBD. No tow. No update. I called AAA and rep put me on hold to get an update. Hold time was just amazing. I just left the car with a note and Ubered home. But held on the line to see what AAA would say. I just hung up when I got home. AAA never got back to me. After 1 hour and 17 minutes of being on hold... I took screen shots of this ridiculousness.
Filed a complaint and asked for a callback. No one responded. They said sorry and they will have a team reach out in 48 hours to offer membership discounts. No callback. I called back again to follow up and the rep told me they never offer any discounts and there's no team for membership retention. Also no notes on my account for any of this. Bye bye #AAA. No more wasting membership fees when I can't count on your service. Hope not everyone goes through what I went through to realize this waste of time and money. (Side note. Most car insurance offers roadside assistance. It's cheaper since they don't have multiple offices and massive overhead like AAA).

The reason for increase was the date I first started driving was filled in wrong. NOW after calling and explaining my cancellation I.m still getting billed for $167.00 for the error the agent made as he filled out the app on the phone, but that's a reason to increase my policy being a new customer LOL. AAA CUSTOMER ABUSE. My son and I had a brake system warning on the way back from Charlotte to Greensboro. It was about 8pm and getting dark. I have been a Plus member of AAA for over 20 years and have rarely needed the service. I called AAA and was told it would be a 60 – 90 minute wait. They also said due to Covid the tow company would only take one passenger. I told them I would not leave my child on the side of the road or have him go off with some stranger. They told me that I should call Uber or a family member. We had no relatives in North Carolina. They would not help us. Through God’s good grace we slowly drove the car on the shoulder until we reached the nearest exit and stopped in a Home Depot parking lot off Wendover Avenue in Greensboro.
I again called AAA and they told me they would get someone to tow me. It could be a 60 - 90 minute wait. We called a Uber and my son went home. I stayed with the car. About an hour later a tow company ‘Adam’s towing’ pulled up. He loaded my car onto the flatbed. He then entered the tow truck without saying anything to me. I got into the cabin and he drove off. I was wearing a mask when he arrived and still had it on. I asked him if he was going to wear a mask. He said he did not wear masks as he had allergies. I told him I had allergies and asthma and I had my mask on. I asked him if he was vaccinated and he said no. I told him I lived with a 85 year old mother but there was no relenting. He said he was not going to let anyone poke holes in him. At this point it was dark and I was stuck with him. I endured the 20 minutes drive to my mechanic shop destination. By this time it was 10pm.
I was very upset with AAA and called them to speak to customer services. I was on hold for 15 minutes listening to their recorded message of only picking up one person due to covid. I was then told someone would call me back within 24 hours from the North Carolina AAA control center. When I got the call from AAA service center the next day the supervisor refused to tell me their name. That alone was ridiculous as the call was said to be recorded. I asked why an organization with over 60 million members did not have the decency to protect their customers and only see fit to do that for their employees or contractors. I was told that they are not able to control what independent contractors do! Surely they have the funds we 60 million members pay to contract with businesses that will have better standards when we are in a pandemic?
Does AAA have a policy for with assistance for members stranded on the highway with young children. What if I had an infant? AAA is fine with leaving a mother and her child on the highway because they are protecting themselves. They are totally flippant on telling a mother at 8pm to get a Uber at night time on the highway. Now they also say it is not their problem if you get exposed to covid. Membership # **.

I called, waited through endless holds and automated questions to get help. I gave all information to the AAA rep and was told help was on the way. After 45 minutes, I called again (to sit through long waits of automated questions & subsequent holds) only to find out there was no record of any tow driver being dispatched! I was told that I was a priority and a tow truck would be to me in 30 minutes.
After 30 minutes, I again called (again with lengthy automated questions, and excessive holds to check my status) only to find again, no one had been dispatched to get me. Keep in mind, it was a heat scorcher of a day which had turned my car into a SAUNA. If I had jumped into a swimming pool, my clothes would not had been more wet. Finally on my 3rd attempt after 2-3 hours, I finally had a tow truck dispatched to me. HOW WOULD YOU RATE THIS "SERVICE"??!! Polite adjectives are not possible. TOTAL NEGLIGENCE & INCOMPETENCE would be inadequate starting point.

If you only need a battery boost this is the service for you. Reliable and pretty fast response. But if you need what they call battery replacement on site and a boost will not help you, this is a terrible service. First they start working at 7:00am and end at 9:00pm. Second there is a monopoly of service providers. There is only one company within a certain radius who is allowed to respond. The call does not go out to available persons, it goes out to the one company who has the contract for the area you live in. The radius of the monopoly is not known. It could be quite large as this person came from 20 miles away. I sent in a request for battery help and then called the AAA number 1 800 222 4357 and told them to add that if the service does not have a 25 battery for the Subaru not to come. I need a battery, not a boost. They said they would do that.
The truck came with batteries none of which are for the Subaru and the driver said he was unaware of the additional request. It was never communicated. The AAA person I spoke to told me she would leave the message with a dispatcher for the driver that I need a battery and not to come out to give me a boost. I waited on hold for 30 minutes to tell the lady at AAA that I needed a battery not a boost. This was not my first time calling. I had called at 8:00 in the morning for help and got a boost. The first guy came with his battery truck. It says on the truck it does battery replacement and did not have the battery. The second time I called was 6pm on the same day and another truck came with batteries and none of them were good for my car. And the driver did not know that he should not come if he did not have a battery for my make and model.
So do not trust AAA to replace your battery on site. They will give you a boost. No battery. Big trucks carrying replacement batteries and they can't put a battery in. Two in one day. That's incompetence. The claim they make to replace batteries is fraud and the lack of communication between the person who answers the phone at AAA and her responsibility to ensure a message is communicated to a dispatcher proves they are incompetent. Also keeping people on hold for thirty minutes is a sign they just don't care about you. The claim to help you by replacing a battery on site is one of the reasons you sign up, but they can't do it. This is to entice you buy a service they don't provide. That's fraud.
The lack of multiple bidders on a job indicates this is not a competitive service. Someone could have come out here with a battery and gotten paid for the work. Instead no one did and I paid for a service AAA advertises and does not provide. And they won't let anyone compete to provide the service. There are hungry people out there who would have liked to get paid to do this job. But it was prevented by this monopolistic service I pay for.

Then talked my daughter into having work she did not need. They replaced a sensor, charged for that then charged another $100 to clean the two wires going to the sensor. Total Rip off. Minutes passed by and I called back at 8:30 pm and I sat on hold until 10:00 pm. When someone did come to the I explained my situation and then they put me back on hold for an additional 20 minutes. To which they had transferred my call to someone else. Then that person tells me that the towing company had canceled my service call. So no one ever thought to give me a courtesy call to let me know that.
So I had to find another way to get serviced. Then at 3:44 on Sunday morning I received a message from AAA on my voicemail asking if I still needed service. This is VERY poor customer service without any consideration for the customer (meaning me) when I was stranded out of town. AAA had me tow it to a mechanic for an assessment (which seems unnecessary now, since he didn't use a lift). They later asked for the video, and weeks later they denied the claim. Since the tires are under warranty, I call AAA. They inform me that they cannot send anyone to me because my membership isn’t active even though I have the papers in the car stating that these are AAA’s tires. Then the guy rudely hangs up on me after I’m telling him this doesn’t make sense. I call again and another person answers and she also states that I would have to have an active membership even though the tires are under AAA’s warranty. I’m livid because I’m stranded in Hackensack in 95 degree weather during a heat wave and no one is helping me. So I just activate a membership. Mind you, about an hour and a half has passed now. The lady informed me that she is going to dispatch a vehicle to me and hangs up after collecting my $208.
Fast forward to 2.5 hours later, no call, no text. So I call back to get an ETA and another woman answers to tell me that there was never a dispatch call for me. She was the most pleasant out of everyone I talked to and was able to get the driver to me fast. Today is Saturday August 14th and I make it to AAA Edison, NJ with my spare tire. Tony informs me that none of the suppliers have it in stock and the best he could do is August 26th. I am Military and I travel, I cannot wait until the 26th of August for a maybe. I find the tire online with 2-day shipping and call Tony to inform him. He then tells me that there’s nothing he can do as far as reimbursement for the tire. Why am I paying for a membership and warranties if nothing works and I still have to buy my own tire and pay to have it installed?! I am very displeased at this entire process.

It all started out with AAA service sending Angelo’s Tow Company out for my battery service. I dealt with a rude technician by the name of Fadi. He questioned my AAA battery and told me that it was not a AAA battery to start when it’s AAA all over the battery. Then he said AAA did not install it. How my battery was dead. He accused me of going to a used battery shop and buying the battery there. I responded look under the hood of my other two vehicles they are AAA as well. I contacted AAA and requested a different tow company to file a complaint. I waited all day yesterday. I spoke to 4 different representatives yesterday assuring that it would get resolved. I spoke to Andrew first to file my complaint. Then a gentleman called me back I think his name was Collin to say that another technician was being dispatched. When he said Angelo’s was coming out, I told him Andrew said they would get another provider?
He said dispatch would call me and never did. Called again. Spoke to a female on the East coast. Forgot her name. Was told they were dispatching it again and come 5pm still no phone call. I called again and spoke to another representative Michael that set me up with a appointment for this morning so that we could avoid all issues. And even with an appointment that still did not happen. I was called by dispatch this morning and spoke with Diana to tell me that they were working on it. The young lady called back a few minutes later to say we have a tow company that will assist you in approximately 45 minutes. An hour goes by and still no tow service.
I call back again and request to speak to the supervisor in dispatch and talk to Terry. And that the earliest would be 8 am that was 8 hours away. Cold and fighting off swarms of mosquitoes, an 8 hour wait was not an option. After another hour and a half of trying to get into my car, I had to break a window. The replacement of which cost me $250.

My vehicle broke down in Miami Beach Florida at 10pm. I used their app to request a tow truck. 3.5 hours later I called their dispatch and couldn’t get a time the truck would arrive. Dispatcher suggested I get a private tow and try to get reimbursed. Hence I had my vehicle towed privately and paid $$. AAA dispatch called at 7am to see if I still needed a tow truck. They don’t seem to care that I was stuck outside in the Florida heat with no a/c, disabled in the road, unable to move my car. I’m sure their reimbursement policy is so restricted I will get reimbursed a minimal amount. This company use to be good. Now it’s changed for the worst.

I set up a tow today around 4:15 pm because my brakes this morning were intermediately not working on my way to work. When I set up for the tow I was told 2 hours. 10 minutes prior to when the tow truck was suppose to get there I got a call saying that the tow truck that was suppose to be sent to me no longer was able to get me that was at 6:10 pm. I was told they are looking for another tow truck and would call me back when one is available. I waited about another hour and still nothing so I called back and was told so far they have not been able to find someone to tow me and they could not give me anytime frame either. But I could call a local tow company and pay to have it towed home and get a receipt of what I paid and then file a claim with AAA and hope I get reimbursed. Unfortunately I did not have the money to do that.
So I waited another hour and I called back only to get the same no time frame and still no one to tow me. They said they had to go by the order of the queue calls but would not tell me where in the queue I was. Finally about 8:00 pm I told them to just cancel the tow and I was going to just take my chances on driving the truck home and pray to God my brakes don't go completely out on my way home. Thank god I was able to get my truck home safely. But I will be canceling my service with AAA. I pay too much money to be left stranded and not be able to get help when needed.

I had the saddest, craziest experience ever tonight. Our car broke down and we called AAA, and we were told they would be there by 11:30 pm. We have a 3 month old in the back and it was about 10:30 pm. We waited until 12, and WE had to call them for any updates. They had no idea if someone was coming and asked if we needed to find an outside source. Of course now, we’re frustrated with no answers, a baby, and sitting on the side of the road. We wait a bit longer, and decide to try Geico roadside. Geico got there in 20 minutes, twenty. And we never got an update from Triple A until WE called them at 1:20 and they still didn’t know. It was so disappointing and the first time I’ve had to call them since having the membership. For auto emergency services, that was the most embarrassing moment. My 3 month old was restless, hungry, and we waited from 10:30-1 with no answers from them.

Do not ever buy a AAA battery because they are junk, and AAA's warranty sucks. I bought a battery from AAA in Feb 2017. It went bad in June 2018. AAA has a six year warranty, three year full replacement, three year pro-rated. They replaced the battery in June 2018, but the six year warranty on the new battery runs from Feb 2017, not from June 2018. The June 2018 battery has now died, but AAA says the warranty is at four and a half years because the first battery (not the current one) is from Feb 2017. If I were to buy another battery from AAA at this point, it would have one and a half year warranty because the first battery I bought is from Feb 2017. I do not see how this is legal to run the warranty from a battery I no longer own.
Also, when I call AAA for the amount of towing miles I have for my RV, I get a different answer from every person who answers the phone. One says 200 miles, one says 100 miles, I have no idea who to believe. If you have another company to use, you are better off with them because AAA is not all that for the price they charge. It is too bad that they do not have many competitors to choose from. GOOD LUCK!!!

When I needed them… AAA (Triple A) Failed Me... Preface: I have been subscribed to AAA for over a year and have placed approximately 5 calls (4 me/1 wife) for service and up to now have had no complaints. Such was the case, that I became an avid endorser of AAA to my family, friends and co-workers. After my latest experience, I can NO longer endorse AAA as a top-notch customer-focused, nor customer-friendly service.
Noticing that I had a flat tire on one of my vehicles, I thought it would be easier to use the AAA service as it had been raining the entire week and the quality of service I received in the past had been exceptional. I placed the call and was told that it would be 1 ½ hours before someone would be dispatched to provide the service. After about 2 hours and no service had arrived, I called AAA again! The representative informed me that the shop that had been assigned my service call had rejected the service call due to being backlogged. I asked the representative why I hadn’t been called and given that information. She apologized and said that she would be sending out the work request again and someone should be contacting me in a matter of minutes.
Thirty minutes later, after no contact from AAA, I called again. The representative that I spoke to this time didn’t understand that her interaction with me was a reflection of the professional of her company and presented me with a very condescending and unapologetic attitude!!! Her primary response in resolving my issue was to ask me if I wanted to speak to a supervisor as I assumed that she didn’t want to get involved with the ineptitude of my AAA saga. She transferred me to a supervisor, who I explained that I was already over 2 hours and 45 minutes in trying to get a simple tire changed. She apologized and said as a supervisor that she would contact another shop, herself, and help to rectify the situation.
After not hearing from her in a 30-minute time period (I am now over 3 hours in this process and I have rain clouds that are darkening), I decided to change the tire myself. Twenty minutes, to the sec, of having the tire changed myself, she calls saying that “SOMEONE WILL BE COMING TO CHANGE THE TIRE IN 45 MINUTES.”
I gently explained to her the failures of AAA in this situation and that I can no longer, in good faith, recommend their services to ANYONE!!! Additionally, I cancelled my AAA PLATINUM membership that I had just renewed and now I am in search of another roadside assistance program that I feel can better respond to me in a crisis. I have considered how this would have been disastrous and highly detrimental for me if I had run out of gas, needed a tow and yes, even needed a tire change while hundreds of miles from home!!! I will share my story everywhere I go, because when I needed them, AAA failed me!

I have had a very impressive experience dealing with the Car Care Plus Dept. After having serious engine trouble on my Dodge Challenger and a problem with the person who towed my vehicle to the wrong location, Bonifacio ** made sure that he established a great clear line of communication with me about my vehicle, and kept me informed on what was going on with my vehicle and explained technical lingo in plain english. He even stated he heard about my vehicle troubles prior to my car arriving, gave me a discount probably because he understood my long road to getting my Dodge Challenger running the way it was meant to and simply provided a great customer experience!
This is the skill set a representative of any company who has to deal with customers of diverse socio-economical backgrounds should be trained like, nothing below this standard of care. The great thing is I also experience this with another AAA representative named Alma ** who was responsible for receiving my vehicle, checking it into the service department and assigning it to a technician. Never got an update over an hour and a half later and called again. This time the lady on the phone says it's going to be another 2 hours. They did it without even letting me know. I accidentally found out that they canceled my insurance on my roadside service and they overcharged me the year before I asked for a limited liability only and they gave me more coverage. I discovered a spare key under the floor Matt so I set it aside while cleaning and I had the other key in the ignition, as I switched sides cleaning I shut the door and went to the other side of the vehicle to discover I had locked myself out.
After realizing I wasn't getting back in, a few choice words I remembered??? I had recently signed back up with AAA. I grabbed my card made the call and in a little over an hour Tom with Schmer's Towing arrived and within 5 minutes I was back in action. I have been a Automobile Club of Southern California member since 1987 (so 34 years). As a teenager and in my 20s in the late 1980s and 1990s, I was grateful for the quality customer service AAA roadside assistance provided. Back then, you would call, get someone on the phone right away, and the tow truck driver would be out within 45 minutes. Unfortunately as an adult, I have to travel a lot for businsess (with my own personal car) and often rent Rental cars in other states. I am a AAA PLUS member and unfortunately, I have to call AAA probably 1-3 times per year due to blown out tire, flat tire, dead car battery, or tow truck.
The past 15 years, the customer service drops every single year. I would give them a ZERO if possible and do NOT recommend AAA to anyone in 2021. You call now, and they don't want to answer the phone! You are put on hold forever with the same AWFUL music on a loop! You get periodic messages about "download an APP and make your request online." Ridiculous as MANY times I am stuck in an area of Texas or Utah with no wifi!
An ongoing pattern the past couple of years is that they tell you a tow truck is coming, and it NEVER shows up! You call the tow truck company directly after waiting over an hour, and they tell you they are NOT affiliated with AAA. Or I have requested in the past that a flatbed tow truck MUST be sent out, and a small tow truck that is NOT a flatbed shows up after waiting 2 1/2 hours.
Last straw was June 18, 2021 when I called AAA 7 times, got someone on the phone after 15 minutes, and she said tow truck was on the way. Tow truck never came after 90 minutes. I called AAA back, and NO one answered the phone at all! I called 15 times within a 1 hour period, no answer. This was an EMERGENCY and AAA could care less. He tried to say it was already broke but it WAS NOT. A month later she has been trying to get someone, anyone, to come out and repair the handle but SADLY all she's getting is the run around. I of course have attempted to call and speak with someone about her case, of which they closed without rectifying the issue, but they refuse to speak with me. She's requested to be called during specific hours because on top of everything my mother STILL works. Instead they call at anytime and of course when she cannot be reached.
Now her car cannot be locked. She's having to request rides from family and friends. All she wants is to get her for handle fixed. Been a member since 2000. For 20 years I’ve questioned whether it was an expense I could do without. Then every three years or so I’d lock my keys in my truck or run out of gas and I’d just pay and renew my account. Tonight though my girlfriend locked her keys in the car while visiting a friend. No amount of wire coat hanger bending could get it to unlock. She called me pretty upset because her friend had to leave for work and she was blocking her in. I called AAA and after pressing a hundred buttons was connected to a service advisor.
She told me a service tech from a local auto repair would be there within an hour. I was informed that since the car was not registered to me I’d have to be present with a photo ID. Makes no sense but I got up and drove to my friend's house. The hour goes by, no one has shown. An hour and a half goes by. No one shows, two hours go by. No one still. I’m not even receiving the text messages to inform me of what’s going on. I call AAA again. Once again I have to jump through hoops to get to an advisor. A guy tells me that they had just done shift change but he was getting right on “finding me a service tech”. Finding?
I was told he’d be here over an hour ago. The guy informed me that as of yet they hadn’t been able to find anyone to help me. Another hour goes by. No one. I’ve had my girlfriend drive my truck and take her friend to work. Another hour. No one. Call AAA again. They still haven’t found anyone. Another hour. No one. Called AAA and I’m told there is no one in the area that can assist me. Seriously? Why do I pay for the service? You couldn’t have told me that 6 hours ago? I will be canceling my membership. It’s a complete waste of time and money. I’d give them negative stars if I could.

I've been isolated, quarantined (3 times) hospitalized. On stay at home orders and told to avoid being around others until 10 days after my 2nd vaccine because of my immune system. I was diagnosed twice by phone because I had severe Covid like symptoms and it wasn't wanted for me to go to the ER nor my Drs office because if I had Covid I could spread it and if not could get it because my immune system was/is so bad. The infectious disease specialist couldn't figure out what kind of pneumonia I had. It wasn't the usual kinds and it took a month of switching antibiotics to find 1 that was helping. I left AMA. The last quarantine was because I had contact with a person who had Covid. I was sent a test but I was too sick to even open it up and I was home alone. My car registration was paid. It is paid now as well but with all of this and stay at home orders I was not able to get the required smog check.
During normal times DMV allows 6mos. I was passed that. When I tried to get it there was a line (not social distancing) and people were being told they'd have to try the following day or the next. I hadn't been able to get vaccinated until 3/26 and 4/23/21 because of the shortage. DMV had on their website to get the smog checks when pandemic issues settled down. I decided to do what the Dr advised and wait 10 days after my 2nd, but on 4/16 my car was impounded. I was having everything delivered but I ran out of my medication and was afraid to have a seizure so I was going to the drive-thru pharmacy. My very old car broke down. I got a tow from AAA.
When the driver got to my house he said he couldn't put my car in my driveway because his truck was too heavy for our driveway. I live in a back house. I told him it was street sweeping and I couldn't afford a ticket (I am disabled widow with fixed income). He refused to put my car where it goes. My driveway, next to my house. He left my car almost a block away. I went into my house to call AAA for another tow. We've had many tow trucks on that driveway. None were ever too heavy and this truck was the same size appearance wise. AAA knew my car was going to a residence. Within maybe a half hour my vehicle was taken. It was so far up the street that I didn't hear it. It was so quick. I didn't even see the street sweeper. I called sheriff's they had no info. I finally found it at an impound yard.
The owner/operator told me public safety had it towed for incomplete registration. I told him the secretary said public safety was closed every other Friday and wouldn't be back until Monday as was city hall. He said he couldn't release my car unless I paid public safety $145 for release. I asked where to go. He didn't know. I told him it wasn't fair to punish me because of covid issues and that my car always had up to date registration. I just couldn't get it smogged. Not his problem. The girl that kept answering the public safety phone didn't know who I could get the release from or who I could ask. City Hall was off as well and I emailed several people that had important sounding titles there as well. I did give up around 5pm. Pretty much hysterical. I only had $500 to last me until June 5th which is not even here yet. I've had to go without food and medication and feel so ill. I have no transportation.
That Monday there still was no response to any of my attempts to contact. This time when I called the public safety number a supervisor I had left several messages for answered. He had obviously gotten them cause he was as rude as could be. I was distraught and he was mockingly saying things in a sing song voice and telling me they worked everyday but Sunday and that he didn't know who could've told me they didn't. He was obviously amused by the situation and how upset I was that I was forced to leave my car in the impound 4 days. It was so bad I hung up on him and was immediately contacted by the director. I was again crying and saying I didn't have money for 4 days.. I had no money for food, nor medicine if the fees would be for 4 days and I was afraid to have a seizure. I told him Covid wasn't my fault. He didn't care.
I told him impounding my car and being off 4 days couldn't get legal and that I could bring documentation. It wasn't until I asked why they return my calls, emails, voicemails, msgs, posts, anything, so I could get my car day 1. He said he tried to call me on Saturday but their system was down. I said. Nobody had a cellphone? Silence. So I said, or if it's your personal #, you couldn't call sheriff's and have them tell me where to get a release? When I said that he said they'd waive the release fee. Impound wanted $700. I mistakenly said I had $500 to my name. He dropped it to that amount and left me penniless. He left bogus charges like $70 notification fee. $70 lien notification which appears to be the same mailed letter that I got 2 days after I had my car. It had a 52 cent stamp on it. But cost me $70. They didn't notify me. I found my car. AAA won't give me info and nobody knows who the driver was. I find that impossible to believe.

A couple of weeks ago my wife and I were coming back from a trip to the lake. I was in my truck following her with a trailer and our kayak and she was driving her car. She ended up with a flat tire in a very bad part of town. Called AAA for assistance in changing the tire. They sent somebody pretty quick, but unfortunately her car needs special lug bolts when the spare tire is put on and we couldn't find them. The only option left was to have it towed.
We called multiple times and was told someone would be in contact with us. Several hours later after the 2nd or third call we were told it could be up to 4 hours before someone even called us back. By now it's dark and not knowing when AAA will even call us back I start calling and find a tow truck. When we are on our way my wife calls to cancel our request for a tow and the customer service rep says "Oh good you found a tow". AAA let us down when we needed them the most. How could I find a tow service after a couple of phone calls and they wouldn't even call us back for three hours. Never again. I am firing AAA.

We have attempted to use AAA towing twice in the past year and both times have not been able to get a tow truck to come assist us. Both times AAA stated that a tow truck had been assigned and sent us a link to track when they would arrive. Both times we have tracked the driver and then when the time arrives for them to be there to help us, the tracking changes and then states a much longer time before the tow truck will arrive. Last time it went from 30 had expired. This is very poor customer service. There was no reason for such a huge delay. No poor weather conditions, busy traffic conditions, etc. So I would not recommend them to anyone needing the security of help with a vehicle that needs towing.

I have been a customer of AAA since 2010. I mailed my check to them for renewal April 2020. They cashed the check. I had a flat on June 6th around 6:15 in the evening. I called them and was told I no longer was a member and would I like to sign up. I ended up calling another company and paying to have the tire changed out. In January while doing taxes, I found where I had paid for coverage. I called the local office, gave them the info and was told they would forward the information. The local office did find my "active" account.
I asked that they renew my membership for 2021 at no charge based on what happened in 2020. I received a card for a week ago for the remainder of 2020 which was 6 weeks worth of coverage. I received a bill to renew my 2021 policy in the mail this week, another $56.00. Why would I ever give them another dime. They walked off with $56.00 from last year and gave me no service and cost me extra $$ for what I paid for. I would NEVER recommend going to AAA for anything.

Called AAA after two flat tires and informed AAA of our situation. The operator informed us a driver was on the way and would text with updates. We told them we didn't have good cell coverage they said the card holder had to be with the vehicle. As I waited with the vehicle after some time friends hiked several miles to get ahold of them. 4 Hours later...they inform us they've cancelled the tow. For a variety of reasons by different operators apparently.
B. They couldn't find our location. (Gave them GPS coordinates which they didn't even know how to take.)
C. It was a graded dirt road. (Which told the operator that in the first place?)
When friends finally spoke to AAA after these 4 hours they told us to seek a local tow company and they would reimburse the tow up to 100 miles. Well that was good because at this point the closest tire shop was closed. We ended up with close to a 100 mile tow that cost $1400. Following day... my membership doesn't include a 100 mile tow but a 5 mile tow. Not their problem they say that the operator was misinformed. The best they can do is advise her for future calls. Very unprofessional business practices.

One said we needed the police first, one said we needed the fire department, one said they can’t help a sprinter van, one said they couldn’t help on a dirt road, all reps gave a different reason why they couldn’t help. NONE offered to help or even offer sympathy or apologies for their poor service. We spent hours stranded in the desert on the phone with them (lucky we had service).
This premier service is absolute crap unless you need simple help on the side of a main road. I would not recommend if you drive anywhere obscure, out of the state you bought the service in or really anything out of the ordinary. Reps were not helpful and felt like they were looking for reasons not to help. The only reason to get AAA is maybe if you want 10% discounts to hotels and amusements.

I went simply because I received a card in the mail showing it was close by and that they had a shuttle service if I needed to leave my car there for repair, both of which were great 'selling points'. I will make a long, detailed story short by overlooking the details. What it boiled down to is this: After making an appointment and arriving on that date, I waited for nearly 1 1/2 hours for them to find out what was wrong. I was told the 'multiple function switch' was not sending a message to the headlights to turn on, that it needed repair. I was informed it would cost nearly $500.00. Needless to say, I was not a happy camper. I was not about to pay that much to have my headlights fixed.
After I left, and after a suggestion from a friend and on a whim, I went to an auto parts store, purchased new headlight bulbs, installed them, and whatd'yaknow, they WORKED. I do not understand, if the mechanics there are supposed to be 'professional', why they would tell me I needed to pay almost $500.00 for a repair that did not need to happen. I'd say the person who 'inspected' my car is either a very poor mechanic or is someone who enjoys taking advantage of people whenever they deem it possible.

I've been with AAA for over 20 years and have been very satisfied with them. I consider it a kind of insurance for breaking down on the road, although fortunately that's never happened to me. The assistance has come in handy for things such as a dead battery, changing a tire (when the piddly little jack in the car wasn't adequate), and once when there was a glitch in electronics and the car wouldn't start while sounding the alarm--the guy showed me how to disable that and get it started.

I love AAA. I have no one that can come help me when I have car problems. My daughter lives in another city. I had an older Ford Taurus that started having a lot of battery problems. I would get stranded at really bad times, not that there's ever a good time to have car trouble. It was always good to know someone was on the way to help me. The reason I only gave 4 stars is because one time when my car had to be towed to a shop I asked the driver where a good shop was. They do have shops that work with them. He told me the name of the shop and he dropped me off at my home on the way to take the car to the shop to be repaired. When I got home is the first chance I had to look up ratings for this particular shop and they had terrible ratings by customers. So I called AAA back and explained what had happened and told them I wanted my car taken someplace else.
The driver that was taking my car to the shop did not want to go back and get the car and bring it to a shop close to my house. I just happened to remember the name of the shop I had passed and looked and saw they had good ratings. So AAA told me they'd send someone to get my car and take it to the second shop the next morning. In the meantime the owner of the shop it was at had time to call me and argue with me about why I wanted the car to be taken someplace else and not fixed where he was. If they have shops working with them I think they should look into what customers have had to say before just suggesting the shop and it ends up having really bad ratings. I think that should be part of their responsibility is to steer you in the right direction.

The process for requesting road service is lengthy and frustrating. All calls for road service in Northern California (and perhaps everywhere) go to a central call station in Utah. There are multiple steps to go through to actually speak to someone. There is an app for mobile phone that provides a faster approach, but the choices are limited so if one has something that does not fall into a category, one must call and go through the lengthy process before speaking to an agent. Wait time for service is lengthy.
Most times the service provided is good, but sometimes inadequate. For instance, I recently had road service to check the air in the tires because the tire pressure light had come on. The technician came, but did not have a tire gauge, even though he knew what the call was for. I have no idea how he expected to check the tire pressure! The road service and response time has deteriorated over the last years and simply is not as good as it used to be. I have been a member for 45 years and have watched the decline in service. I connected my son 3 way and was asking what was wrong and to explain what car he was in. To no avail did the CSR budge. Saving money is not always an advantage. How much do you lose in the long run? Is wasting your valuable time trying to resolve problems with unprofessional and poorly trained operators/customer service representatives that play hot potato with you on their automated phone system rabbit holes for hours on end worth it? When you finally get through to managers they play the same game. Additionally, no one you are sent to is ever aware of the details of your problem, so be prepared to tell your tale over and over.
I was stranded at the rest stop by Camp Pendleton on the northbound side one Sunday. The operator had great difficulty finding my location. She finally assured me she had located me and I told her to ask the tow truck driver to bring a new battery along in case I needed it. Then another operator called to verify my location. Then a good while later, another operator called to verify my location. Something smelled really bad but AAA had never failed me before, so I didn't give much importance to the fact that I ended up waiting 45 minutes or so more than the first operator told me I would have to wait for the tow truck driver.
The tow truck driver was never informed I potentially needed a battery. He also did not have the equipment necessary to tell me if my battery needed replacement, which AAA tow truck drivers always have had previously. The day was a disaster and caused friction with my passenger. I called customer service to complain about the extremely poor service by the first operator. It has taken something like a month - maybe more - to see what AAA would do about it and I am still waiting.
I decided to cancel my insurance, AAA membership and renter's insurance. I have not found a cheaper service, and yes, they are less expensive, but I am glad I will never go through this again. You get what you pay for. Trust me. Do your math. If you take care of your car, it is highly unlikely you will be needing AAA roadside services. By this I mean, regular oil changes and occasional tune ups at your mechanic. Very, rarely needing AAA roadside service has been my experience after 10 years or so with AAA. I really have never desperately needed them. Save yourself a good deal of money and above all headaches and buy jumper cables. I've been a AAA member for 25 years and this happened to me one time where my truck broke down coming back from Utah. At that time I had to pay $1,140.00 for a tow and because of that experience I purchased the RV plus coverage in case I broke down again while hauling my truck camper.
Anyway, long story short, by the time I had my truck towed back to my mechanic in Montebello, I had to pay out of pocket $900. The entire point of purchasing the RV towing plan was to avoid costly towing charge. He estimated that it would take approximately 45 minutes from him to get to our location. While I was waiting for the second technician to arrive my wife walked to a nearby hardware store and purchased a set of jumper cables. We were able to get a kind Samaritan to give a battery jump and we were on our way home. Terrible service from AAA. I've been a member for over 10 years but will not be renewing my subscription to their service.

The last 3 times I used for play the service has been absolutely horrible. One time it took 24 hours I sat on the side of the road for them to bring me a tow truck. I don't know what's happened to this company but it's gone straight downhill and I'll never use them again.

Broke down 350 miles away from home, called AAA because I've been a long time member and have been overall happy up to this point... I was informed I cannot ride in the tow truck with my car because Covid. I have a mask, and shield so I'm in a one light hick town, can't get a taxi or Uber... No car rental places for 35 miles, STRANDED. Thanks for NOTHING AAA, you suck and I'm definitely NOT renewing my membership. I had to rent a U-Haul moving truck and car carrier to get home, cost me over $500. Taxi's and Uber, Lyft are all carrying passengers, WTF?

I was waiting on the side of the road for over 4 hours. I called around 830. Text message update said they would arrive at 933am then 1022 then 1118 then 1148... All the way till 1242 then that came and passed and after a few calls asking where they were I think I finally got a tow around 130 in the afternoon. Wasted my whole day, couldn't leave my car because the text kept saying they were coming every half hour.
After over 4 hours waiting I was hungry, thirsty, had to go to the bathroom, sweating hot and missed 2 appointments because they lied about pick up times. If they didn't lie about the pick up times I could have walked 2 miles down the road to get to the store and could have rescheduled my appointment to a more appropriate time. Then the guy comes to pick me up and he has to leave me on the freeway to walk home because the operator didn't tell me I had to get a ride. She just asked if I was Covid free the last 14 days, which I was. To top that off I asked the driver what was up and he said he just got the dispatch 20 minutes before he arrived. So only after I called 3x and made a huge stink, you make sure someone comes to fulfill the service I paid for? Piss poor service. Would have been better off calling a tow company locally and been on my way in a half hour.
