AAA is phenomenal, I’ve been a member for over 10 years and have no complaints. Every time I call, they make sure I am safe, keep me updated on the arrival time of the tow truck, tire changer, or battery jumper. I have the gold plan which allows for more calls, farther tows, and I have been able to add my Mother in Law, Partner, to my plan for just a few additional dollars. Great yearly gift for Birthday or Christmas especially for the elderly. It’s something people don’t think about until needed.

Last year, our son's car battery was dead. Literally. In less than two hours AAA replaced the battery at a reasonable price. To know we can get a tow or a car unlocked means peace of mind. It's insurance, and when needed, invaluable. AAA offers discounts on some services and goods. They partner with Sprint and more than half of our annual fee is paid.

I've been with AAA for over 20 years and have been very satisfied with them. I consider it a kind of insurance for breaking down on the road, although fortunately that's never happened to me. The assistance has come in handy for things such as a dead battery, changing a tire (when the piddly little jack in the car wasn't adequate), and once when there was a glitch in electronics and the car wouldn't start while sounding the alarm--the guy showed me how to disable that and get it started.

Our family has used AAA for years and have been very pleased with them. A couple of factors to consider in choosing a provider is the size of their emergency service providers network in your area, the potential needs of your drivers in an emergency, cost, reputation as seen by both consumers and emergency service provider.

Texas AAA is terrible. We lived in California and we were members for over twenty five years. Thought they were great. Got stuck at a lake and had to call them. It was a hundred degrees outside and we had two little ones with us. Called AAA and we were told about 30 minutes, after an hour and no show, called again, we were told thirty minutes. Waited again no show. Called a different tow service. They were there in 20 minutes. I have to say AAA did reimbursed us for the tow charge.

I love AAA. I have no one that can come help me when I have car problems. My daughter lives in another city. I had an older Ford Taurus that started having a lot of battery problems. I would get stranded at really bad times, not that there's ever a good time to have car trouble. It was always good to know someone was on the way to help me. The reason I only gave 4 stars is because one time when my car had to be towed to a shop I asked the driver where a good shop was. They do have shops that work with them. He told me the name of the shop and he dropped me off at my home on the way to take the car to the shop to be repaired. When I got home is the first chance I had to look up ratings for this particular shop and they had terrible ratings by customers. So I called AAA back and explained what had happened and told them I wanted my car taken someplace else.

The driver that was taking my car to the shop did not want to go back and get the car and bring it to a shop close to my house. I just happened to remember the name of the shop I had passed and looked and saw they had good ratings. So AAA told me they'd send someone to get my car and take it to the second shop the next morning. In the meantime the owner of the shop it was at had time to call me and argue with me about why I wanted the car to be taken someplace else and not fixed where he was. If they have shops working with them I think they should look into what customers have had to say before just suggesting the shop and it ends up having really bad ratings. I think that should be part of their responsibility is to steer you in the right direction.

The process for requesting road service is lengthy and frustrating. All calls for road service in Northern California (and perhaps everywhere) go to a central call station in Utah. There are multiple steps to go through to actually speak to someone. There is an app for mobile phone that provides a faster approach, but the choices are limited so if one has something that does not fall into a category, one must call and go through the lengthy process before speaking to an agent. Wait time for service is lengthy.

Most times the service provided is good, but sometimes inadequate. For instance, I recently had road service to check the air in the tires because the tire pressure light had come on. The technician came, but did not have a tire gauge, even though he knew what the call was for. I have no idea how he expected to check the tire pressure! The road service and response time has deteriorated over the last years and simply is not as good as it used to be. I have been a member for 45 years and have watched the decline in service. I do not recommend, but in order to have AAA car insurance one must have their road service, which now costs $55.00/year. I will cancel if I ever change car insurance.

I am pleased with my service but sometimes the customer service reps can be something to deal with. My son was stranded and called AAA. Somehow someone that was either riding with him or standing nearby started yelling that no one was going to move their car. The CSR overheard the conversation and refused to send help. When I called, the CSR told me what she had heard and had spoken with a supervisor who advised her not to send a tow truck. I connected my son 3 way and was asking what was wrong and to explain what car he was in. To no avail did the CSR budge. I live approximately 2 hours from my son, and had to travel to get to him and move the car. She said I had to bring proof that the car belonged to me and not the person that was yelling. I can understand her hesitation at first, but after speaking with me she should have believed me instead of the other person. Very disappointed after that.

When I asked AAA for check, they respond that 3rd party was not supposed to change my car battery, even if aaa would change my battery I would be out of luck as well, because they ask for PRINTED battery report, I change at least 2 batteries with AAA already and never received. Saving money is not always an advantage. How much do you lose in the long run? Is wasting your valuable time trying to resolve problems with unprofessional and poorly trained operators/customer service representatives that play hot potato with you on their automated phone system rabbit holes for hours on end worth it? When you finally get through to managers they play the same game. Additionally, no one you are sent to is ever aware of the details of your problem, so be prepared to tell your tale over and over.

I was stranded at the rest stop by Camp Pendleton on the northbound side one Sunday. The operator had great difficulty finding my location. She finally assured me she had located me and I told her to ask the tow truck driver to bring a new battery along in case I needed it. Then another operator called to verify my location. Then a good while later, another operator called to verify my location. Something smelled really bad but AAA had never failed me before, so I didn't give much importance to the fact that I ended up waiting 45 minutes or so more than the first operator told me I would have to wait for the tow truck driver.

The tow truck driver was never informed I potentially needed a battery. He also did not have the equipment necessary to tell me if my battery needed replacement, which AAA tow truck drivers always have had previously. The day was a disaster and caused friction with my passenger. I called customer service to complain about the extremely poor service by the first operator. It has taken something like a month - maybe more - to see what AAA would do about it and I am still waiting.

I decided to cancel my insurance, AAA membership and renter's insurance. I have not found a cheaper service, and yes, they are less expensive, but I am glad I will never go through this again. You get what you pay for. Trust me. Do your math. If you take care of your car, it is highly unlikely you will be needing AAA roadside services. By this I mean, regular oil changes and occasional tune ups at your mechanic. Very, rarely needing AAA roadside service has been my experience after 10 years or so with AAA. I really have never desperately needed them. Save yourself a good deal of money and above all headaches and buy jumper cables. At the very worst you will have to wait around (which happened to me anyway with AAA) but you will also get to meet a nice person.

Was on my way to New Mexico on Nov 11, 2020 when my truck with a slide in camper broke down on the 10 freeway in Palm Desert, CA. Called AAA for a tow and was told that AAA now only covers up to $500 towards an RV tow (customer service said this change went into effect earlier this year). I've been a AAA member for 25 years and this happened to me one time where my truck broke down coming back from Utah. At that time I had to pay $1,140.00 for a tow and because of that experience I purchased the RV plus coverage in case I broke down again while hauling my truck camper.

Anyway, long story short, by the time I had my truck towed back to my mechanic in Montebello, I had to pay out of pocket $900. The entire point of purchasing the RV towing plan was to avoid costly towing charge. I don't ever remember receiving any notice from AAA that the RV towing policy had changed and they were only covering up to $500. I am completely disgusted by AAA and I will be looking to obtain roadside assistance through another company.

Needed a tow for a car that was blocking my driveway leaving no access to the garage. Called AAA and got put on hold for 20 minutes and then got a robot telling me to press a bunch of numbers. I do not have a smart phone. Pressed numbers and got disconnected. Got a ride to the local AAA office where an associate called for service, no one was available so the associate called an independent service to tow the car to a repair shop. $80. for the flatbed move, paid with a credit card. AAA office provided me with a reimbursement form to fill out and mail. Did that. Almost 8 weeks later a check for $35.!

Went back to the local office and wanted an explanation, A phone call said that I did not call AAA to request service. THE SERVICE WAS REQUESTED FROM THEIR OFFICE USING THEIR PHONE!! With a independent provider that they called! Now they won't honor their policy. Service requested by them, from their office, using their phone and they will not reimburse?? Total waste of money.

Because I couldn't be with the car they refused to assist, stating membership was for the member, not the car. She asked me which member would be there? I let her know that if I could be there, there would be no need for AAA's service since I have a spare key! She said "Okay, have a nice day" and hung up. I was totally dumbfounded to say the least. This representative could have cared less that a young girl was locked out of a car and no one to help. My tire blew out and I have a lock for my spare which I need bolt cutters for. I don't have a jack ether. It is 10am when I call and they tell me there will be someone out at 11am. I get a call at 11am saying they have not been able to get ahold of anyone then proceed to tell me someone will be there at 12 40pm. If I contract a company and they can't even pick up their phone for me to do a job I am paying for then they will be fired. This seems to be common practice after talking to AAA. It is 85 degrees and I have no water. I told them they would have had a liability issue if I didn't get my AC fixed a couple weeks ago. I was then told they would call the cops if that was the case, they probably would have not been able to get ahold of an officer much like their CONTRACTED companies. I trust McDonald's not screwing up my order a 1000x more than I can ever trust AAA again.

He had a very obvious chip on his shoulder about something - his tone of voice and body language said it all. I kind of felt like I was at his mercy and had to put up with his problems, as he dramatized about Pep Boys - I have no idea what that had to do with me. I followed in my other car to the mechanic's location... It gets better... The tow person even stated to us that he wished I had the car moved on Monday because that is his day off! No kidding. This is the 3rd time I have used AAA service in 33 years. I won't renew this time. I will find another club. If Consumer Affairs wants more information please contact me.

It took me less than 5 minutes to call a local tow company and arrange a tow. Today I just had another terrible experience with them. It's not even worth going into details but I will say the only thing I'm happy about is getting refunded my membership fee so I will never have to deal with them again. After months of people at AAA pretending they were going to take care of it and asking me to send estimates etc. they did nothing but say it’s not their responsibility. I also went up to the CEO, Director of customer relations and although they presented once again to care DID NOTHING. I now have a car car that cannot be driven and have to go through my insurance which has a high deductible. They do not know what loyalty is nor do they care. However I reported it to AAA and they said I'd hear back the next day from someone. Well it's going on 4 days and I'm getting nowhere with them. One afternoon I called because my car would not start, I thought it was a simple battery charge, first driver came out, I had left him alone and went inside while technician did his thing. He knocked on the door and said I needed a new battery and he called for a battery tech to come out, about two hours later came out and I stayed with him. Tech attached the prongs to battery and made a big spark, he switched the prongs and car wouldn't start and nothing in the car would light up, he looked extremely nervous and started saying it was the alternator, he just rambled on, it was late so and the auto mechanic was closed, so next morning called triple a for a tow truck.

My mechanic said it was fused blown because prongs were connected wrong section, when I dropped of the car I told them if they can check to see if it needs a new alternator or battery, never said anything else. I called the manager to complain. Manager said he interviewed the guys which said to him that I said I had someone else the night before try to charge my car, boggles my mind. Bold face lie. Manager said what you think they got together and made this up!! I called triple a to complain, that manager called me back and said it doesn't matter what the two first tech guy said, it matter what the third tech did to the car and he would have to call to interview, never heard from them again!! When I asked how I could be quoted an 85 minute arrival time, it get to five minutes and then I go outside waiting for the truck with my license and gold AAA card and wait another thirty minutes just to check back and see that it’s another 85 minute wait. When I continue to get generic answers that don’t help me and I get irritated and get an attitude I’m told that if I don’t calm my tone down I will be told “to have a good day and be done with my service”. Why should I pay for a GOLD card just to have a four hour wait and get disrespected?

I've been a member of AAA for over 20 years. They used to be great. Had need for service, twice around 2000 which was fast and efficient. However, That is all over. Around 2016 I was stranded with a flat and no spare. It took AAA 3 hours to locate a service truck and 1 hour for the truck to show up. This was in Deerfield, and I was going to Hialeah about 35 miles distance, at 7pm. A little far, so I forgave them.

Then last month I waited 35 minutes to talk to a rep on the phone, and then 3 hours and 40 minutes for a tow truck that they said would arrive in 90 minutes to show. While waiting I tried calling again to find out why I had not been picked up and the automated voice said it would take 25 minutes for my call to be answered, so I hung up. Found the service that they had called online, and called them directly. They had gone to pick up another vehicle first before coming to me.

Here is the clincher, AAA told me their primary service company for Hialeah, where my breakdown was on this occasion, was Kendall towing, located almost 20 miles away. We are talking about Hialeah, a city of over 100,000 people, located on the northern part of Miami-Dade, a county of over 1 million people, and their primary service company and only company they could find at 10pm because I tried to get the rep to locate a closer company, is in Kendall located at the southernmost border of the county. I let my policy expire four days ago. Came to this site to research other clubs.

    Reviewed Sept. 10, 2020

I am deeply disappointed in AAA roadside assistance. Each and every time I've called for assistance within the last 3 years (I've been a member for 6 years total), it has been horrible. I'm going to outline a few of the issues I have had but I am only documenting the issues that occurred frequently. Incident #1: 2018 - January. I live in the southeastern part of the United States. January is when temperatures can get into the teens (although this doesn't happen regularly during the winter months, it can happen).

I was stranded on a major road due to issues with my car's accelerator. I was holding up traffic for miles. My car would not move. Shortly after calling for service, my vehicle shut down other systems so that the electric battery (I have a gas electric hybrid) would not sustain damage. When that happened, my car got cold on the inside. I had a child in the car with me. When they asked if I were in a safe location, I explained that I did not feel safe, I was blocking traffic, and that I had a child in the car (which in my opinion, should have escalated my case in priority).

The call was placed in the morning hours between 8 AM and 9 AM. I did not receive assistance until almost 12 PM. It's a good thing that I had blankets in the car that I had planned to drop at a donation center. During the time that I was waiting, I received several contradicting calls and text messages from AAA and the tow service that they contracted. When I called AAA for updates, I could not get a clear idea of what was going on or how much longer I'd be waiting.

Incident #2: 2019 - October. Driving a different car than the one described in incident #1, I was driving on back roads when the car began having trouble accelerating (similar issue mechanically as incident #1). The car delivered a warning that I needed to pull to the side of the road and turn the car off to prevent something more dastardly happening. I did as the car instructed, but it left me on some back road with very few homes and very few passersby. Once again, I considered the situation unsafe (it was going to be dark in an hour) and once again, I was with a child.

I placed my call between 4 PM and 5 PM. I was told that the tow truck would arrive in about an hour. I wasn't picked up until a little after 8 PM. It was a Sunday evening and I had work the next day and my child had school the next day. We were 1 hour away from where I could drop my car for service. Again, I was stranded with contradicting text messages and phone calls coming in from AAA or the contracted tow service between 4 PM and 8 PM. When I called AAA for updates, I could not get a clear idea of what was going on or how much longer I'd be waiting.

Incident #3: 2020 - September. Driving yet a different car from both of the previous incidents, I was less than 5 miles away from home when I had a tire blowout. This time, I was traveling alone, it was 8:30 AM, and I was actually in a location that I felt pretty safe (near a gas station). The call to AAA was placed close to 8:30 AM. Text messages started coming in, the dispatcher was calling and expressing a pick up time that was different than what was sent in the text message. The tow company was calling with a different time than either of the other times expressed.

In addition to all of this, the first two company contracted could not complete the pickup and AAA did not schedule the pickup with another company. I decided to change the tire myself. I called AAA and cancelled the service call and I drove home on the replacement tire. I did all this AFTER waiting for a tow for 2 whole hours. I had been home for nearly 45 minutes when I received a phone call from the tow company saying they would be arriving in an hour. AAA did not cancel the tow service or failed to communicate my desire to cancel the service call. I have no idea where the breakdown in communication occurred, nor is it my concern.

In conclusion, every single time I've called AAA for roadside assistance, I have been left stranded for several hours, sometimes not in a safe location, and most often with a small child. These 3 incidents are not ALL of the service calls I've had with AAA. I can say that EACH experience (including the ones not listed) had be stranded for 2+ hours. I have had better success looking up local tow companies on my phone and calling them directly to have them come and tow me to a safe location. It's a little more costly, but I save myself hours of stress. Besides, it seems like I only need a tow about once per year.

I have been a loyal customer of AAA for 32 years, I became a member shortly after my son Larry was born, after I had car trouble and was stuck at Casper Regional Park in my vehicle; with only 2 diapers and 1 bottle, while coming over Ortega Hwy in So Cal. For the majority of my life, I had worked and I lived in my primary residence in Southern CA, but when we retired last November 2019, we decided to split our time between our home in CA and our home in AZ. We have AAA Premier RV (as do our 5 Adult children, and we pay for their annual memberships as well as our own). In addition, upon contacting AAA Premier Services we have repeatedly been assured that AAA travels us with and can be utilized in ALL 51 states (especially the continual 48 states) in the USA.

Just prior to the COVID 19 breakout, we decided we move the registration on certain vehicles and items to AZ, as we would be keeping and utilizing those items here going forward... these included items like our enclosed motorcycle trailer, and our boat trailers, boats and watercraft; which we slipped at Lake Pleasant Marina AND 3 of our personal vehicles.

    # 1) Our first experience with AAA AZ was on our enclosed motorcycle trailer, we had own this trailer since 2015 and purchased it new. However when we moved the registration to AZ, the AAA associate who helped us MADE us pay SALES TAX? We explained that we hadn't bought or sold anything in AZ and simply just wanted to move the registration over to AZ, so we wanted to know why we were being charged SALES TAX.

SHE couldn't actually give us a reason, and told us that in this state you are required to surrender your TITLE; so it can be re-issued by the state of AZ (which made no sense to us, as no other state we had ever lived in had required us to do that)... But it still didn't address the reason as to why we were being charged sales tax to simply transfer registration from one state to another. NOTE: my husband and I are both retired Federal Employees, and over the course of the last 30 years we have both had multiple relocations; to many different states.

Fast forward, COVID is in full effect and we are NOW having to deal with the AZ MVD directly via telephone and/or via MYAZMVD. Come to find out we should NOT have been charged Sales Tax on our trailer and that we have to go through the dispute process. Unfortunately, sales tax assessments are sent to the department of Tax and Revenue and their offices are by appointment only. So now we have to try to get our money back from them when and if they ever decide to re-open! That was March 2019

#2) On August 7, 2020 while pulling our boat (remember we have the Premier RV membership) we had an issue and became stuck. It was roughly 11:30 AM and the temperature was 112 degrees. I called AAA roadside assistance and was basically given the run around for the next 4 hours by Arizona AAA Towing LLC. FIRST HICCUP: Their automated system (ERSA) isn't set up to recognize out of state membership ID #'s... When I finally spoke to a real person who was able to verify my membership, I was told they would get someone right out.

An hour later NOTHING so I called again, jumped through hoops of their automated service again, and this time the person I spoke with was Bambi. After not being able to find a record of my previous telephone call, she took all our information again and told me they would get someone right out, about 20 minutes later a tow person called me and after asking me the size of our boat (which I had already given to Arizona AAA Towing), he informed me his truck wasn't big enough and he would notify AAA. An hour later (we are now at 3+ hours after my original call and its still 112 degrees outside) I call again, and this time the person I get connected to is Stephen...

Stephen pulls up my account and informs me I don't have any services left? I asked how could that be, my membership renews in April and I haven't used any services this year. I asked to speak to a supervisor, as this hadn't been an issue over the course of my last 2 telephone calls. Stephen informs me he is working from home and then places me on hold, while he calls his supervisor... when he comes back to the line (about 15 minutes later) he tells me his supervisor Kyle Port told him to tell me I don't have any services left and I need to call a commercial carrier! 4 hours after my first contact with Arizona AAA Towing... We ended up paying out of pocket and called T&S Towing Services... And on Friday I called AAA Premier services and was assured this situation would be looked into, and got a lot of lip service via apologizes and thank you's for my many years of being a valued member, etc, etc.

#3) Yesterday, August 22... I again found myself calling Arizona AAA at 9:45... because my step son; had lost his keys to his car, and the way his car is manufactured the steering column locks up without the electronic key. I called Peoria Ford and made arrangements for them to make a new key, but they needed the car towed to they location... the fist tow guy who showed up from Arizona AAA Towing LLC, was very nice, walked up on to our drive way and checked out the situation, and then explained that he had a flat bed, but we needed a Wheel Lift, so he called back to his dispatch and arranged for the correct tow truck needed. 45 minutes later, when we hadn't heard anything...

I called Arizona AAA again, jumped through the ERSA automated system again and the young woman who eventually took my call said "hummm, it shows the driver tried to call and you didn't answer... I said, "Well I have an Apple X and I can take multiple calls and conference all of them together at one time, so I'm pretty sure he didn't call me." Then I checked the Recent Phone Log, and told her "NOPE, no missed or incoming calls there".... to which she responded "well our system shows he's about 17 minutes out"... I said okay. 25 minutes later nothing... So we; my current husband, myself and my son, go out front and sure enough there is a Arizona AAA Towing LLC Wheel Lift Tow Truck parked out front with the driver sitting in the Air-conditioned cab...

We wait about 5 minutes more and he doesn't even attempt to vacate his truck. So my son and husband approach the drivers side of his truck, and he waives them away with his left arm... He's not on the phone or anything, he just wants them away from his truck. So they step to the back of the vehicle. When does finally emerge from his truck, he tells us that he can't tow the car because we have a cobble stone drive way? What we have is a 4 car 4x4 paver driver way. My son; Larry, who worked for Donovan Towing (in San Juan Capistrano, while in college) a AAA contractor, said, :This isn't cobble stone, it's a private drive way. And if you're that concerned you have Go-Jacks on your truck, that's what they're there for."

The driver completely loses all sense of decorum and then goes off, he is now yelling in the middle of the street "are you going to pay my bills if I loses my job, I can't go on that drive way, who are you to tell me how to do my job", he then got back into his truck, slammed the door and left.... The entire interaction was caught on our 2 Ring Cameras in the front of our house and observed by 3 of our neighbors.

So I call AAA Premier services and I was connected with a Supervisor named Carlos out of Salt Lake City, he tells me he will contact dispatch and gives me the EE Id for the Tow Operator who has just left my house, and he will get back to me... That was at 12:04PM... For the next 2 hours I'm on and off the phone trying to find out what is happening and if someone is going to come or not. I speak with Alex @ 12:50, I speak with Asia @ 1:20 and then finally while I have Dominique from Premier Services on speaker on one phone, I get Kevin @ 2:02 PM with AAA Arizona on the phone... who informs me that "WE supposedly made racial comments to their diver and that no-one is coming." NOTE: Carlos has never called me back.

What AAA Arizona doesn't know at this time, is that before I was Mrs. **, I was Mrs Bernard **, we owned B Dobine Construction in SoCal, and my husband was African American (he died at the age of 52 out at a job site in 2013). Furthermore I am the mother of grown mulatto children... and if that is what their employee is stating, it is a blatant lie. I am the last person who is going to be party to someone using racial inequality as an excuse for ill behavior!!!

I have personally experienced what it is to get pulled over by a police officer for simply DWB (driving while black) in an upscale neighborhood. I have driven down the street to my home in Laguna Niguel, and observed my child sitting on the side of the road, while officers took photos of his tattoos, because he was simply walking down the street and they didn't believe he lived in our neighborhood. I know what it is to be shunned in restaurants when there isn't more than two others parties in the entire establishment. I've lived it!!!!

So after 32 years with AAA I am canceling my membership!!! Between our membership and that of our 5 gown children, it's a nice chunk change they make off of us each year... especially since most years none of us has need of any of their service. We again ended up calling T&S Towing, Kyle was great... came out within the time frame he gave us, and had absolutely no issues with towing the vehicle to Peoria Ford for $95.00. My advise, avoid the drama and poor service, save your money and find a company that stands behind the services your paying for

I have never written a bad review for any company, nor did I ever want to have to come to this. I had my car towed on July 29 by AAA. On July 30 we discovered much damage had been done to the vehicle by the tow company that AAA uses. I immediately called the tow company and was yelled and cussed at by the owner and told he did no damage and he had been doing this for this long, etc, etc. I said ok and hung up.

Within 5 or 10 minutes he showed up at our where my son whom is instead of finding a solution, yelling and swearing in a threatening manner and then took off to my son who was looking at the car and whom owns the car. We called AAA and had to leave a message with their "complaint" department. They did return our call the next day and told us to take the car to a mechanic shop and said he would have to report the tow driver which I told the CSA that I did not feel comfortable with that due to the fear of him coming back to our home.

We took the car to a shop on July 30th, which again the tow company nor AAA gave any help in getting the car to the mechanic. We are now on August 19th and we still do not have the car. The tie rods were bent, one very badly which in effect caused damage to the tires driving it to the shop even though we had adjusted the tie rod end enough to make it drivable, also we have a 2014 Audi, the bumper is plastic and black in color. There is a very noticeable dent with rust and dirt that was very clearly caused by the tow company dragging the all wheel drive onto a flat bed. What needs to be winched on, must be winched off, they I am very confident used a J hook bridal and hooked somewhere he should not have and dragged it which caused this damage.

Here is my BIGGEST concern and why I would never recommend or use AAA again. We have pictures and videos of all damages and a estimate from the repair shop for the mechanical issues and tires (we have not been able to get the car as of yet to take to a body shop for the bumper). AAA claim representative whom I have been speaking with called me today and said they will NOT cover the tires or the bumper or the fact we had to rent a car for the last 19 days. He is only offering me 411$ plus a complimentary $150 for the rental!!! I am furious and I will be taking this further.

WARNING TAKE PICTURES OF YOUR VEHICLE BEFORE ALLOWING AAA TO TOW IT or better yet DO NOT TRUST THEM. The claim adjuster also stated to me for me to file a claim with my auto insurance company also. So unprofessional. I wish I could add the pictures and video I have. This entire process starting from my call on July 29 at approximately 3:30 Pm (might I add the driver did not pick the vehicle up until approximately 10PM) has been a nightmare and has caused me more stress and anxiety than a simple tow by a experienced tow driver should have.

Updated on 10/17/2020: Muddy explanations, muddy non-existent service, muddy complications, and it was slow as mud getting our reimbursement!!! Our motorhome was within the mileage limit for a tow home, they misled and even lied to us for 5 days, and would not use another l service to tow us home. In the end, after hours of arguing with them, being mistreated by supervisors, told that we could only expect a majority of our cost of a tow reimbursed to us; we had to hire our own tow service!!! It then took another half day of our time to file papers with receipts and check many times on the progress of our reimbursement.

Our local AAA office is wonderful, and submitted 2 requests on our behalf to speak with a manager, but we never heard from a manager to complain about how lousy the supervisors treated us. It took another 7 weeks to get our reimbursement, and they acted like they did us a big favor. AAA roadside assistance is UNETHICAL and should be SUED in our opinion.

Original Review: After being AAA members for 20 years and increasing our roadside assistance service to cover our new RV, we were misled, lied to, avoided, treated very poorly, and even supervisors refused to tow our RV home for days. In the end, we had to obtain and pay for our own towing, with no guarantee that we will be partially or FULLY reimbursed for the tow, the money we owe for the Lyft driver to sit around and wait for us, and the money charged to us by the winery since we had to leave the RV in their way in their parking lot for 5.5 days. They were unethical, uncaring, told us time and time again that the RV would be picked up soon, and did not call us back as they promised at least 6 times. We will be canceling our coverage and contacting consumer agencies, our attorney, and broadcasting AAA's egregious behaviors throughout social media to prevent others from experiencing the same nightmare.

After a 2 hour wait, I called back again and after an hour wait on hold I was told it would be another 65 minute wait. Again they asked my location like they did the first time 3 hours before, they said both times they dispatched a truck. After another 3 hours of wait, I am still waiting in this dark highway not knowing if there really is a tow truck coming for me.

If You Get This Service, be ready to wait at least 6 or 7 hours. Between waiting on hold by the phone, or waiting for a tow truck that might not show up at all, I’d guarantee You will consider just paying outright a $200 tow from any tow truck service, than to wait for 6, 7 or even 8 hours. Expect to be exhausted, frustrated, and extremely angry. This service is in a downward spiral. Most sincerely from somewhere in i95. My car broke down on hilly interstate 90 in Washington state on 30th of July, 2020 at 7 pm. I called AAA and the agent told me they were having a hard time getting a tow truck and kept telling me to wait. I waited 3 hours in narrow freeway shoulder where lots of semi passing by and I felt very unsafe after sunset. I decided to leave the site and let AAA know I was leaving the car unattended and asked them to tow my car nearby town first in the following morning and let me know.

I did not get any message from AAA until following day afternoon so "I" called AAA again to find out whereabouts of my car. It turned out my car was still there until following afternoon and finally picked up after 24 hours of the incident. I was not notified what must be done when I left my car unattended, so I had to come back to my car again only to leave the key in the car because I accidentally took the key when I left the site. The service they provided was absolutely not satisfactory and poor. I will not recommend AAA for your road trip. Bring your tent instead or call local towing company. It will probably cost the same and faster.

If I could, I'd give them ZERO stars. On Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at 11:24pm (CDST) we needed AAA services and they FAILED! We have been a member continuously since 1987. 33 years!! We have rarely even utilized their services but kept it just in case there was a time I would need help. And when I did, they could not help me. I am extremely disappointed and frustrated. We were traveling on Interstate Hwy 10 westbound in the Florida panhandle when we had a tire blowout (left rear) on our travel trailer which also caused some damage to the panel of the RV. We managed to pull off the highway on the narrow shoulder with a sloped drop-off and overgrown grass making it difficult to safely distance our vehicles from the busy interstate. It was quite scary to have semi trucks and cars flying past us going 70-80 mph (or more!).

When I called the emergency AAA number, she said she would make us a priority. However, she had difficulty even finding our location (my husband had to walk half a mile down the side of the highway to find a mile marker). I was on the phone with her for 23 minutes. When she finally located us, she said she'd get back to us with info on who was coming to help & when. Remember, this is July in Florida and the temps were unusually high (in the 90's). I did not receive a call back until 12:37pm only to be told that AAA could not find anyone to help. Excuse me, WHAT???? Isn't that their JOB??? To have help when we NEED it??

For the next 2 hours all I got were phone calls saying that they still could NOT find anyone to come assist us.

I don't think the people I spoke with even understood what we needed even though I explained it clearly. All we needed was help in changing the tire on the travel trailer (i.e. jacking up the trailer & providing protection from the traffic speeding by). We had a spare. Because we finally called the Florida Highway Patrol, my husband was able to get the tire changed with the officer's assistance and the patrol car providing some protection. But clearly no help from AAA Roadside Assistance.

Another thing that I find irresponsible (although it didn't directly affect me) is the statement on the AAA recording saying that, due to COVID-19, if our vehicle has to be towed, that the owner would not be allowed to ride in the truck to the repair garage. That is ridiculous!! What are you going to do? Just leave people on the side of a highway to fend for themselves?? I understand they are trying to protect the tow truck drivers but what about protecting the members??? So, after 33 years with AAA, we plan NOT to renew our membership. We can get roadside assistance through our vehicle's insurance policies which has to be a much better use of our money.

I can go to Kroger and I get $0.40 off a gallon because I grocery shop there. I even have $0.80 off a gallon so again AAA you lose and you can't beat other savings that I get.

I don't travel. I work full-time plus overtime so I don't get to travel so there's no savings really. I guess the only reason I got you is because in case my car breaks down, I can get it towed. It's a lot of money to pay for a "just in case" I break down situation. Since people are working to an older age it's my belief that AAA should offer something more to those who still work for a living. Not everybody travels every summer. Not everybody gets a vacation every year but if I break down I can get towed. I'm starting to believe that AAA is not much better than AARP! AARP is worse! AAA you really need to step up your game.

My vehicle broke down and I called AAA at 9:45 am. They said they would be here by 10:45. At noon I called back and they said they would be here by 1:40 pm. The showed up at 3:00 pm and said they could not tow the car because they did not have the right equipment. I guess if you have all the time in the world and don't mind being stranded, you might get service sometime.

My wife and I have lost all trust and comfort with AAA’s Roadside Service. Friday, July 3rd, my wife and were 700 miles from home, 105 miles from our destination with our two dogs. We were in my 2013 Ford FX4 pulling our travel trailer to spend the 4th with our daughter. I just had my truck serviced by Ford, but unfortunately a message “Low Oil Pressure” and the engine shutoff. We called AAA. Their response was “we can send a tow truck, but due COVID 19 we cannot have you ride with them.” "Do you know anyone locally?" I explained again we were in the middle of nowhere and no we don’t know any near us. The dispatcher again repeated, "Due to COVID 19 we cannot provide you a ride."

If it hadn’t been for an amazing Sheriff Deputy who got off of the next exit 2 miles down the road and backtracked to us on our side of the highway, we’d have been left stranded on the side of the highway. Instead, the Sheriff Deputy called their local tow truck. That flatbed loaded my truck, connected the trailer and gave my wife, dogs and I a ride 2 miles down the highway to Lima, Montana local campground. Amazing town of people! AAA is a major disappointment!!!! — They are completely okay leaving a family to fend for themselves. AAA = LAME. ????

Two places, one even down the street for me, only charge $49.95 for the same service. I should have gotten a heads up when I compared auto insurance rates with what I already have. AAA's in much higher.

When I spoke with the representative it seemed like there would be no problem with this. The day of, I call a rep and she confirms a tow truck will arrive. Shortly after, I get a phone call from a rude individual that said no tow truck would be coming. No towing from auction lots is an understandable policy, just please make sure your employees actually know it, and the gentleman I spoke to over the phone was just horrible. Not even remotely apologetic for the mistake their employee made. I canceled the membership and received my refund right after this interaction. Horrible, disorganized, and just terrible.

He then checked it again before test driving it. I believe the man’s name was Ed from Tolland Towing and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience given the situation. After the audacity of contact them on the phone they told me, in no uncertain way, that I have to wait three days from the day I paid for my membership ($58!). When I requested to cancel my membership they told me it was "non-cancellable" and that refunds were not possible. Nowhere in the brochure they sent me that policy was spelled out thus, legally, I was entitled to a cancellation and reimbursement. The supervisor was very inflexible, rude and aggressive. On the other hand, after this incident, I became a member of Good Sam's and the experience was flawless and radically opposite to AAA's, not to say that I got a much better deal for my membership. Please take note before you decide to join AAA. Now I realized why Good Sam's is #1 and AAA is #4 or 5 in ranking.

My husband and I have been premier members of AAA for over 25 years, and when our daughters got their licenses, we put them on the family plan and paid for extra distance towing as they both go to college many miles away from us. I would say I've used AAA a handful of times only, and in the past, the service was good. We live in Salinas, CA and my daughter goes to Chico State and was driving her car home for the weekend. She experienced car trouble (water or fuel pump broke, car was smoking) in Fairfield and pulled over to the side of the road. A CHP officer stopped, called AAA for her and escorted her to a nearby gas station. She was told 30 min. to tow the car to a repair shop.

The plan was for my friend in S. San Francisco to drive over to pick her up, once the car was towed and I would drive to San Francisco to pick her up there. She waited for two hours, no texts or anything, she kept calling back. Finally, she was told she was CANCELLED--no reason, no apology. My daughter is only 18 and was afraid, as it was getting dark, and she was texting us that she was approached by men in the parking lot wanting "to help her". So, she calls again, and CS says it will be 30 min. Hour and a half later, my daughter calls AGAIN, this time she's told her tow driver is busy, and will come when HE CAN. No estimated time of arrival at this point, my daughter is now hysterical, so am I. She's now been waiting 4.5 hours. So, we decide she'll leave the car there, and she calls Uber, driver comes in minutes, and he drove her 2.5 hours home.

He said she was lucky to have called him, as it was now dark and few drivers would want to drive that far. He was super sweet and kind. It cost us $265. And I'm positive this company will not reimburse us based on other reviews I've read. If they had only told us that the tow truck was NEVER coming, I would have driven there myself. This company should go out of business. I'm calling USAA to see if they offer roadside assistance and cancelling AAA. Too bad, this was ONCE a good company.

So yeah I'm dealing with the death of my best friend and then I had to put up with some spastic old lady with a walker that wasn't ready to be back to work or whatever her personal issues I don't know. But it doesn't work well for the company because the bottom line is this. To make this very clear I will not today or ever write another check to AAA and I will not do business with them ever again.

Me or my family we're shutting it all down so when you go into Russell take Junior and Kenneth ** and my son. All of us we've all just quit so you don't you know, "Hey we're just a little people and you just lost a little money." But trust me I'm going to go out of my way just like AAA went out of their way to put my go out for a bid back in the desert. Why I waited 17 hours with my animals for that was a horrible thing and then they being yelled at twice. A disabled person 60 years of age being yelled at by people are really not ready to be back to work in their facilities. Maybe they should take a hard look at that. Send them home and I'd rather have no interaction with AAA than that have the last couple of reaction me and my son just had.

Its Nora Branch don't have anything to do with AAA anymore after what I've learned so that's sad and anybody that knows me knows that when I laid when I say something and it's the word I mean I tell the truth 100%. You know after all that horror that you're dealing with the stress that I had to put up with. This unbelievable. No no senior citizen. I would not ever ever recommend a senior citizen do business with you anymore so just you're all done in business. I I just can't see where any part of your thing has service in it anymore that you can't get a tow truck out there in a timely manner.

And after reading 250 so Matt reviews I'm pretty sure that you guys are messing up on just about every encounter so maybe it's time to take a hard review. Maybe get some new employees. I don't know what it takes but it's not my end of the fence. Not my end of the the job to be done so you know what I really don't care because I'm never write another check AAA again and that's where the find the final dollar stops right here. It's me that write the check. It's a customer. Quickly forgot who the customer was didn't you or you guys, members but that's the truck of **.

My name is Kathy **. I recently moved to Henderson, NV after a Sudden and Horrible Divorce in Martinez, CA. (10 hour drive) I drove my 2008 Honda Accord V6. The car was left to me by my Father in Oct. 2013 after his death. It had 11,000 miles on it. I always take care of my Hondas. Since 1985. Anyway, my car died with 163,000 miles due to the neglect and incompetence of Firestone Complete Auto Service (Lol!) on Stephanie & American Pacific in Henderson, NV.

On the evening of May 21st as I was driving down W Sunset... my car stalled. Smoke was coming out of the Hood. There was a lot of traffic. A police officer stopped and told me he would need to place flares around my car so that nobody would hit me. I asked him if he could please call AAA Roadside for me. He did. So The AAA tow truck arrived... I handed the man my card. I said "I just need it towed to Firestone right there..." I pointed, as Firestone was right next to us on Mall Ring Circle. If he nodded or said anything... I didn't hear him.

I then did what I Always Do in the 40 years since having AAA Roadside, I got into the truck and waited. After about 30-35 minutes... I decided to get out and see what was going on. As I was stepping out of the truck (which I did not realize how high up it was) I lost my balance and fell back on my head, HARD! I screamed. The man (if you can call him a man) came over to me, looked at me like I was weird and walked away...

I managed to pick myself up...reminded him to drop it off at Firestone and I walked home (2 miles or so) I looked back a few times just to see if he would even bother to see if I was alright. I never saw him. I had a head wound, multiple bruises, butt pain (lol) went to the hospital the the next day. Maybe 2 days later. I couldn't decide if I should...but the more I thought about it the angrier I became so I went. Later on, I found out that AAA was not driving people home due to Coronavirus, in which case the AAA Tow Truck Driver should have brought to my attention IMMEDIATELY! Right? I had no idea since the police officer was the one that called them.

Funny, because 2 days later after Firestone refused to work on my car, I had to call AAA again to have it towed elsewhere. This driver said I could ride in the truck with him. Very Sweet, Professional & Respectful Man! Easy on the eyes too! Briggs was his name. I think there was an H in his name somewhere. So I was very stunned and surprised by the previous driver's unprofessionalism, lack of respect and lack of human kindness. So of course I had to use Uber & Lyft. I told one of the Uber drivers what had happened. I said "Is that common here in Nevada?" He said "Yes, it is." Now I hope he was kidding but he did not laugh.

Now it's been 9 days and my Car is at AAA Auto Repair. (Was not gonna take it back to Firestone!) It needs a new engine.... Now... I will not be paying for it. Firestone will be. Now I know everybody is on edge since Covid-19... but this AAA driver (I do not know his name) he obviously had serious problems prior to Covid-19. The first word that popped into my head was Narcissist. But I obviously cannot give him a diagnosis. I just really feel sorry for him! I think he should be Fired! I am sure that his story will vary from mine but I was born in the 60's. I was raised not to lie...

    Thanks!

I had a terrible experience with AAA last night. First of all they got my information all screwed up not once not twice but three times. They had an incorrect location for me 3 different times and therefore dispatched a tow truck company that called me and told me they could not come tow me because I was outside their jurisdiction. Then I was intentionally left on hold for close to 30 minutes after I asked to speak with a supervisor or manager.

Finally the tow truck driver that did finally come pick up my car came to my car and left without contacting me to tell me they were on their way so they had to be redispatched out a second time. So in entirety, I was stuck on the side of a busy highway for over 2 and a half hours and my car was not picked up until almost 4 hours after my initial call to AAA roadside service. I was very explicit in describing where I was located and 3 different people reiterated back to me my information and they all still managed to screw it up. Wasted my whole night and I was late to work today because of it. Thanks AAA, great job (NOT).

He was not wearing a face mask; he did not practice social distancing; he came with the wrong kind of tow truck (we were parked head-first in the garage); and he did not have any jumper cables with him. We ended up having a neighbor come over with jumper cables and start the car. It was a total waste of time and extremely aggravating. Would not recommend this service to anyone.

Being during Covid19 pandemic I didn't want to bother just anyone around me to help and that's why we pay for this service. Was told 45min, ok good. 1hr 30min later was told the delay was because my call was put in for a "battery change". Huh? I didn't request a battery, just a jump? Finally roadside pickup truck arrived and twice put cables on with no result.

I told him my car was just serviced. He said, "Oh, could be your starter." Sorry dude, just had my starter changed few weeks ago, but good try. The very minute I picked up my phone and mentioned I was calling my son who's a mechanic he adjusted cables and my engine miraculously, immediately started this time. He had a look on his face like this scam ain't working and better just jump the car and go. I never write reviews, but feel I have an obligation to warn other people of this battery scam. My car was still repairable as I was informed by the mechanics. It was just going to be more work. To add to that it took them over a month to state it was a total loss, and no one kept me updated. I constantly had to call everyday, leave messages, and email the total loss department. They did not even pay that much towards my loss. I’ve had other insurance who have paid completely for my previous lost car and they were completely worst than my accident that happened in February. I never experienced so much stress and frustration with a car insurance. By far the worst car insurance ever. I will NOT renew my service with them once it is up.

She was of no help. I called their ridiculous "digital assistant" finally getting to that office telephone, seeking a supervisor to discuss this, and that employee refused to give me the name of the office manager or the owner, and forward my call!

I wrote to AAA's national CEO. He ignored my email for a week until I told him again what I do or could do (Investigations, reviews and lawsuits). He then had someone else reply for him! They also misspelled my member name. I was finally called by an office manager to discuss the matter 21 days after the incident. Luckily the statute of limitations in California is one year. I am cancelling my membership in favor of using my USAA services. What an unprofessional national organization and private business location... No 800 / 877 consumer help number listed on any of their websites, either! Good luck if you aren't an attorney. Suggest you save your money and get your tow services via your insurance provider. My name is Brad **, legally Joshua B **. Member number **. Sometime in late February, I was travelling down a residential dirt road in Pelham, Ga. I am a travelling life insurance agent by profession. It had been raining pretty severely for a day or two. At some point on the road I become stuck in the mud. I then called AAA. First person I spoke to was, Janeqwa. She called the local tow company and then called me back. She said they would have to bring a special machine to get me out and that it was an extra charge, however that management at AAA had already approved it and that the tow company was on the way. She sent me a text and said that The tow truck would be there in approximately 1 hour.

Moving forward, Karen another agent calls me when the hour has almost expired. She apologizes and says that Janeqwa was wrong and says that I will need to pay an extra $250.00 to the tow company, Royce's Towing and Recovery. Mind you, I am on a residential street, my family pays tons of money to AAA and we never use them. So another hour goes by and the Tow company shows up. They use a small bobcat like thing to turn my car around and I drive back out the same way I came in. Probably took 20 minutes tops. The tow truck guys were super nice. I paid them 200 instead of the 250.

Furthermore, I called member relations the following day to discuss my member benefits and ask for a partial refund. I spoke to one girl who just rudely transferred me to a man named, Brian, in member relations. She was upset. Asked me to take her off of speakerphone. When I said I was driving and could not, she didn't say anything. She just transferred me. Brian took down all my information and said someone would call me back. It sounded like Brian was writing everything down and not even typing it into a computer. He was nice, but everything up to this point with AAA just sounded like unprofessional untrained employees.

A week later on March 4th, Cindy, a manager with the badge number (**) called me back. She said there was nothing they could do and that they would not offer me anything to compensate for the money I had to come out of pocket. In addition, she basically insinuated that getting stuck in the mud was my fault and that these things can get pretty expensive. She said they only cover 50 feet of rope for off the road and that even though I qualified for two tow trucks per incident, that in this case the bobcat was special so I did not qualify.

I was only asking for AAA to split the cost with me and credit me $100. They literally would not offer me anything, not even an extra service for the year added to my account just in case something happened. Everyone was highly unprofessional, though Brian and Karen were pretty nice about it all. I am shocked that as large as this company is that they treat their Premium/Plus members this way. Just a word to wise when you think of giving your money to this company. Nothing is really ever what it seems anymore. Sincerely, Brad **.

I told her twice when I wanted the tow but she sent it right away. No explanation. She forgot to tell me you have to call when you need it.

The basic is useless, all they're doing is trying to get you to upgrade and spend more money. Several days ago our car died while driving. A family member suggested buying a AAA membership and having the car towed, so I purchased one. When I went to call in a tow request they informed me there was a three day waiting period before my benefits would take effect but that they would call a wrecker for me as a courtesy and a $50 charge. Because it was over five miles, there was another $5 per mile charge added. OK. I can see that was fair enough, and we were stuck on the road with limited options.

However, I went to upgrade my membership (for another $60) and was informed that the tow I paid for counted as one of my four allowed service calls for the year. Wait: I paid for it...but it still reduces my number of tows? Hopefully I won't have another tow this year, but, in my opinion, that raised my AAA membership by another $60 for the year. That is a bit of highway robbery. Just know this heading into a year with them. You must have a three day waiting period for a tow and if you get towed in that time, you will be charged and one service call will be deducted.

Then we have to stop for fuel & driver went to eat.

After arriving at my house 6.5 hours later for 120 mile trip, we had to wait for him to unload truck off then WE start unloading bikes. Then after getting to bed at 530am Driver calls 1.5 hours later to tell me he forgot to get overages for miles & needs his money now (after we tipped 40.00). Then threatens me as, "I KNOW WHERE YOU LIVE & I will take your AAA so you can never use again....haha". He didn't say or act anything like that when we was all here face to face. On Sunday, February 23, 2020, at approximately 3 PM, my husband, our seven-year-old daughter, our small dog, and I were driving west on Highway 20 between Williams and Clearlake Oaks California. Our car was going up a hill and shut down. Luckily we were able to get onto the shoulder of the road. There wasn’t very much room there and on the other side of the guard rail was a sheer cliff. We turned on our hazard lights. We checked our phones for service, but had none. We were in a dead zone. We weren’t sure what to do. My husband finally decided to hitchhike. He caught a ride with a motorcycle to the next town so he could call AAA. My daughter and I stayed behind, not knowing when he would return.

When my husband got to the nearest town where he could get cell phone service, about 20 minutes west of us, he called AAA and let them know exactly where we were and they said someone would be coming to get us. The motorcyclist was nice enough to bring my husband back to my daughter and I. Then we began to wait. It became dark. We waited and waited and waited. We saw a total of four AAA tow trucks pass us by during that time. Each time we saw one, we would get excited that it was coming for us, but it would just drive by. A couple other concerned citizens stopped to make sure we were okay. Not once did we see a highway patrol or any type of law-enforcement.

After about 4 1/2 hours, one of the tow truck drivers who had passed by once and was passing by a second time, stopped to make sure we were okay. He was not assigned to pick us up, but felt bad for us. He agreed to load up our car and take us to the next town so that we would be safer and have cell service. If it weren’t for him, I don’t know what we would have done or how long we would have been on the side of the road there. Once we got into the next town, Clearlake Oaks, California, the tow truck driver unloaded us near a gas station and he left. We began calling AAA to see what was going on.

We called several times and each time they said that they were trying to find a tow truck to come get us. No truck ever came. Finally, around 11:00 PM, we got a final call from AAA letting us know that they could not find anyone to come get us and that we would have to try again in the morning. We could not believe what we were hearing. Why did we pay for the service if it can’t help us when we need it? Luckily, we had blankets, food, and water in our car. It was starting to get very cold and our daughter had fallen asleep. We thought about sleeping in our car all night, but decided to walk to a motel.

The next morning, we called AAA and they sent a truck to get us and towed us to our mechanic 124 miles away. I have never been so disappointed in a company. I really feel like canceling my membership because why should I keep it if it does me no good when I really need it? I plan on trying to get reimbursed for my motel fee and the extra miles I had to pay, out of my pocket, beyond 100 miles.

It should not matter if the vehicle is going to be traded in or just repaired, the fact of the matter is that I paid for a premier membership, and my vehicle broke down. I would not advise ANYONE to buy a membership with AAA, your vehicle insurance company offers roadside towing, and they won't discriminate. AAA is NOT the same as they were 5 years ago, they can not be trusted to assist you if you need services you have paid for, as they refused to provide the service they contracted with me to provide when I paid for my AAA membership. Do NOT count on them, instead, pay the $20 per year to your insurance company for their road-side assistance, they won't leave you broke down on the side of the freeway like AAA did to me, (it COULD have been me, my wife and 3 of my under 10 year old grandkids and my wife's service dog, bengi, a tea-cup Yorkie, that they turned their backs on, HAD it been a few days earlier) So now, I no longer feel I can trust AAA, are YOU willing to?

Well we were a walk in. Never called the place at all also he had to either put in system as walk-in or appointment told him go check his recorded phone line and he would not find a call from us and still was giving us a hard time been to the Hamilton AAA multiple times and same crappy service wonder why people only go there for oil changes.

We called AAA to bring out a new battery for our 2002 Ford Escort. The gentleman insisted that our current battery was installed backwards, even though we knew this was impossible because we have been driving this car for years with this battery in this configuration with no issues. How could we have been driving around with a backwards battery? The answer of course is that we couldn't. The mechanic was clearly wrong but absolutely refused to listen to my dad and proceeded to install the new battery backwards. The car of course would not start with the new battery, because it was backwards! We had it towed to our local garage and the mechanic took one look and said, AAA put the battery in backwards. Long story short, we will only be calling AAA for tows from now on and will do our own batteries. It reflects very poorly on AAA and the independent agents they use when the people they send out could make such an obvious mistake.

We purchased AAA plus at 8pm on a Monday after my husband's tire blew out on the way to work. He managed to get the vehicle to the parking lot but was told he could not fix it himself until his shift need at 3:30 am. So I signed up a AAA Plus membership & paid the extra 50.00 for same day service. I told them he could only come out with ID because he would get written up. I also gave them all the specifics of the vehicle. The tow truck driver did not have the correct size wrench so he stripped the bolts on the cradle holding the spare, his impact wrench was not powerful enough to remove one of the stuck lug nuts so it stripped it, and the tire needed some air but his machine could not air it up fully. (we did not know the tire needed air) When I called AAA during the service they said they could tow it to their shop. But if they're not going to equip their wrecker....then they Said they couId tow it to a tire shop, but it's 9:30 pm & not a metro area.

My husband had to help, provide tools & air the tire from his shop. He did get written up. He was outside over 30 minutes. He might as well just waited until after work at 3:30 am & had a couple buddies help him and saved 160.00. I called less than 24hrs later to cancel & got Naomi on the phone who proceeded to interrupt me several times after asking why I wanted to cancel, then told me I cannot cancel because we used the service. Save your money & go with any other group but AAA. I know have a service that is useless.

I did in 8 months' time I started to have problems with my vehicle but could not afford to purchase a new one. Trusted that AAA would be there to help me. I was so wrong. 2 tows, 1 flat tire and 1 charge battery. The 5x I called because I needed a charge to go to purchase a battery. People they use are too expensive and I'm on a budget. Then is when they tell me that I'm only authorized for 4 calls for assistance. If I wanted they would come out but it would be a charge of over $100.

I wrote a letter with my concern. Never got contacted from AAA. Now, without giving an authorization I get an $84.00 charge on my bank statement renewing my membership. When I wrote to them a letter back in May;2019 told them I never wanted to be a member of their organization. To top it all off I have to wait 7 to 10 days for a refund from them. How fair is that? Called and asked to speak to Supervisor. No one is available to come to phone. Like the letter that they never replied will not return the call.

The vehicle was driven by someone who was authorized to drive the vehicle and listed on the insurance policy. However, the AAA dispatch stated they could be of no service because I "the owner" was not present. I had no idea after all of these years this was a requirement. I am canceling my membership and looking at other options where the vehicle of the member and the person needing assistance is priority. I made it clear to the operator that I needed a tow truck to take my vehicle to a mechanic shop. When a vehicle showed up it was not a tow truck. It was a service agent in a mini cargo van that was hoping to sell me a battery. I made it very clear what I needed and they chose not to listen. The service agent checked my vehicle and realized that it was not a battery issue. I already knew what the problem was and that is why I specifically asked for a tow truck. I then had to wait an additional hour and a half for a real tow truck to show up. My mechanic and I were not happy. My first call was at 7AM and my vehicle did not get to the mechanic until 11:30 AM. They wasted a good portion of my day. I was told that I must specifically say that I have “engine failure” in order for them to bring me a tow truck. How ridiculous is that? Are we supposed to know that? This company is becoming more sales-based and not service based.

We were waiting for our tow for several days last July and never got the service. AAA logged the incident as a complaint, collected its details, and finalized it to their liking - not letting us know what became of it. Five months later, by the end of the (report) year, they sent us three texts, as if in response to our service call, even assigning a number to that dispatch. No service truck subsequently called to see where his help was needed. AAA created a phony paper trail to make it appear as if the previously mistreated customers (us) conceded and accepted their abysmal standard of service.

We sent a certified letter cancelling our membership for pre-paid services not provided, exploiting members' information, incompetence, and fraudulent documenting, and asked for a refund of the unused portion of our yearly membership. The refund never came. Instead, AAA is attempting to get us on the phone to drag it out. AAA, we are no longer affiliated with you! Refund our money! AAA brings shame to its investors!

On December 23 I wrote to AAA requesting an immediate refund since I was refused service the previous night for a minor incident. First I had a rude and unhelpful person on the phone who put me on hold an excruciating number of times. My tire was wedged into a low stone wall and I couldn't move the car. She couldn't figure out how to categorize it and kept telling me there would be an extra charge if they had to send 2 trucks (but couldn't explain in what circumstance that would happen). Then she said they were refusing service and I would have to call the police and my insurance company. I then called VW roadside assistance and they were lovely, friendly, fast and happy to come through for me.

After I asked for a refund since basically I feel like I am paying and have been paying for nothing, I heard nothing. No apology. No refund. No customer service person reaching out to see why this member of 15 years was dissatisfied. I then messaged on Facebook and have been put off for days now and made to feel like I am impatient though this incident dates back to Dec. 22. I also asked for contact info for the CEO and was not provided that.

The first call, it took me about 25 minutes just to get ahold of a person on the phone to dispatch a person, which then was another 1 hour wait time. The second time I didn’t have that kind of time to wait for a tow so went with another tow service. The third time I waited about an hour and called dispatch back and found they put in the wrong address and then proceeded to tell me it would be another hour for someone to come out and change a flat (so total of two hours now). Luckily once, dispatch got it correct someone came out within 15 minutes. So, bottom line, they need to add more people and competent people to dispatch center.

AAA only paid for labor costs leaving me over $500 to pay out of my pocket. They claim "nobody is responsible and I'm lucky I got anything". Got towed this past Saturday night. The driver explained that the Eddie's was 100% responsible and that AAA makes them sign contracts for liability. They lost my keys during the recent tow and I called to find out about the money owed to me from July and file a complaint about my keys. They said "as far as we are concerned, that is over and done with".

I live in Cape Coral FL, I had to drive up to VA, prior to leaving FLA my belt tensioner would growl when I would first start up the motor on my 2015 Chry 300c, I stopped at NAPA Auto Part store and they quoted me $160.00 for a new one, as I had to leave to go to VA I decided I would stop a the first aaa car care center and have them put a new one on, I knew it was only a 15 minute job as the tensioner is easy to get to and held on by one 15mm bolt, the Chesapeake aaa car care center was the first one I came across.

I told them the tensioner needed to be changed, first we had a problem with a $58.50 diagnostic fee, I told them that they did not need to diagnose it but to just replace the tensioner. The lady was adamant, I gave up. 30 min later I saw a napa delivery truck show up and 15 min later the lady said I was ready. Now it gets good, retail from napa is $160.00, aaa gets at least 40% off of retail or better. They jacked up the retail price to $257.00 and it gets better, they charged me $21.62 in shop supplies, for what?

The technician wore doctors gloves so he would not get his fingers dirty, cost. No more than 25 cents, the tensioner cost aaa no more than $96.00, it is hiway robbery for the aaa car care center to make $161.00 on a $96.00 part and then to have the nerve to tack on a $22.00 shop fee, they did only charge me $58.50 in labor (15 min including getting car in and out of shop) which was the diagnostic fee. I will not return or send someone to a aaa car care center ever, also I am not through writing letters.

A few years back my parents both had AAA, and I got a flat tire while out of town. My jack was broken and so I called my parents and they called AAA. They said that since my name was not on the account that they aren't supposed to help unless my dad or mom is with me, but that they would claim that my dad was there and help me out. This was great, and I couldn't have been more happy with the way AAA handled my situation. After this situation my parents added both my sister and I to the account in case anything like this would ever happen again. More recently my car engine blew up and I was in the middle of nowhere by myself, however I knew I had been added to the account, so I called AAA.

The lady on the phone said that unless my dad was with me they would not be able to help me because I wasn't on the account, but I clearly was. One simple way of proving this is that a month or so before I got a text saying that I would have to renew my membership to AAA by the end of the year. So yeah, AAA left me, a college student preparing for finals, on the side of the road after my first car blew up, and I had to spend $200 on a tow while I was already paying for AAA's service.

This is a warning to anyone looking into AAA Roadside Assistance. Southern CA and Northern CA AAA are 2 different corporations and neither has access to each other's systems or roadside service calls. To put it in short terms. I was in Northern California and ran out of gas. A truck was dispatched and I received services. But because the 2 regions are not connected, Northern CA AAA did not know that I had already used my Allowed call ins for this year. So they could not inform me that I was out of services and that I would be charged a $90 service fee for them to come out.

Several months later I get a bill from Southern CA AAA for $90 which I refused to pay as I said had I been informed of this, I would have cancelled the service call and handled the problem myself. I gave the driver the $10 for gas that I was told I would have to pay. So Southern CA AAA cancelled my membership and deducted the pro rated amount against the service charge. The best part is Southern CA AAA stated that it is the consumers responsibility to keep track of their roadside emergency service calls, not AAA. And in a final insult told me that I only paid $53 for my membership and I had 5 service calls, that I had gotten my money's worth.

I just find out AAA of the Carolinas has canceled my membership because I was using it too much! This is laughable. What else was I supposed to do with it? Sit it on a shelf and stare at it? I could see if I was doing something fraudulent, but to be canceled due to usage is insane. Praise God that I haven’t had any breakdown, because apparently this was decided in May and I’m just finding out because I noticed I didn’t receive an email about renewing in my anniversary month of November, and it’s nearly Christmas. But God is good, and He has kept me and my car covered. Minor issues were fixed without needing a tow. But that extra security and comfort that I felt when I had AAA is gone. But that just means God will work even better and stronger.

A representative told me that if AAA wants ME back I will be contacted by invitation to rejoin. Oh really?!? Well, how magnanimous of AAA of the Carolinas. According to my membership card I’ve been a member since 2006. Now up until 2017-18, I have probably used them zero to 1 time. In 2016, I started a new job another city some distance from my home. This required an unexpected demand on my car. So my car started having serious issues in the form of fan belts, radiator, brakes, flat tires, and transmission. I had to have my transmisión rebuilt.

So AAA was called when I needed a tow. You can’t drive on flat tires or a busted radiator and if you can’t go in reverse to even get out of the driveway because your transmission is out then you need a tow. So they canceled ME because I utilized what I was paying for. So buyer beware! Funny, they never complained all the those years I was just giving them money and not utilizing any of their services, not even discounts. But NOW that I am, am a liability. Buyer Beware!
