I've been a AAA member for 25 years. Never again. My daughter broke down 40 miles away at 10:45 pm. We kept being told someone would arrive to help. I called 4x before finally, someone told me at 12:50 am that no one was going to be available to help and no help would be available until morning. The single worst experience ever. I drove there at 1:30 am and picked her up on this quiet road and had her car repaired in the morning by an actual real company, not this crackerjack AAA roadside service. I will never, ever use AAA again. I have GEICO and roadside comes with it anyway, and I don't know if their service is any better, but at least I don't have to pay for it. AAA is a joke.

A few months my car died in my Sister In Law's driveway. As a member for years I called AAA to tow my vehicle to the dealer. At first the lady at the other end says they would send someone. After 2 hours someone arrived, tried to start the vehicle but was unsuccessful and advised the office I needed a Tow. They advised a tow truck would be there from the adjoining town in 2 hours since no one from my town was available.
Six hours later I called again when no one arrived. The operator said she would see who was available, by this time I was so pissed. I told her not to bother. I would call a tow myself and pay out of pocket. I called a tow company in my town -(Port Saint Lucie, Fl) who promised to show up in 30 mins. 10 mins later the new tow company called me back and said AAA called him to pick up my car and that he would bill AAA instead of me. He was a AAA tow operator, in my town and they had not called him. He was available all day. I had to wait 8 hours for a tow I cold have had in 30 mins. I would hate to think certain people in AAA were getting kickbacks from tow truck operators. Just putting that out there. I hate to think some people at AAA were accepting kickbacks. Maybe the company can look into this.

No tow truck by 11:15pm (2.5 hours after I requested a tow)!! They said that truck was diverted and another one was 10 minutes away!! No tow truck by 11:45 so I called again!! They said that truck got diverted!! Tow truck finally came four hours after I requested it!! Four hours!!! Are you kidding me??? This is completely unacceptable service for what we paid for and we are promised!! Aaa is ruining lives one tow at a time!! Two other times in the past 10 years, I waited 6 hours and no tow truck came!! I had to pay for one and one came right away!!

I received a membership to AAA as a part of my cell phone provider's service. Thank goodness I didn't have to pay for it, as it's USELESS. I've called for roadside service three times. All three times I was left waiting for hours, without ever receiving the help I needed. I'm writing this after sitting at my location for 3 hours waiting for the service provider to contact me. Finally they contacted me to demand money on top of my AAA subscription. Screw this. TOTAL SCAM.

Waited over three hours for AAA. As a single woman by myself a late at night in a parking garage it was a very unnerving and potentially dangerous situation and I needed help. Unfortunately, I relied on AAA for help. Three hours later, with a totally dead, iPhone battery and completely vulnerable, the security guard in the golf cart felt sorry for me and provided a way home for me. Never ever, ever rely on AAA. This was not an isolated experience, but it was the worst with AAA.

This is the worst company. I got a battery from them last year. It’s under warranty 3 years at that and they didn’t cover it talking bout low voltage. I need to do a recharge. When I bought the battery from them no one told me about the stipulations. I cancelled my membership. I refuse to do business with one who treats the customer like this and I got the battery tested. It was a bad battery. It was also leaking. I will throw away the car before I ever them my hard earned money.

If I could give it 0 stars I would! It has gotten to the point that tow companies will not work with them because they pay the tow companies pennies on the dollar compared to the regular rate of what they charge per tow. So you sit on the side of the highway for HOURS! Yes, HOURS! waiting on a truck. Because of course the tow companies are going to put their non AAA calls/tows before any AAA pickups because they actually get paid for those tows! We have even waited DAYS on tows through AAA only to end up just cancelling the request because we had to make other arrangements. Do NOT waste your money on a membership!

Beyond disappointed with AAA level of service. I called 7/8/25 at 9:45am for service because I was stranded and blocking the entrance to a restaurant. I received varying times first 11:36a then 12:10p tow truck finally arrived at 1:45p!! The garage was only 45 minutes away the tow company didn't drop the car until 4:15 and the garage closes at 5, so I had to wait until next day 1:45 to 4:15??? Unbelievable! Then on 7/9/25 the mechanic cannot analyze the car because the AAA warranty battery is dead after trying to charge it for 5 hours! So he removes the AAA battery 10 minutes before the driver arrives in order to move the car the AAA battery van driver says it voids the warranty because the battery was removed AAA policy seriously!!! The history from the previous service call and ALL I endured these last 2 days and as a valued customer since 2011 was not even considered SHAME ON AAA!

I hate this insurance company; they lured me in and then ripped me off. Their whole agenda is sales and profit. I called several times to resolve the issue of overcharging. My insurance agent, who promised legendary service, never returned my phone calls. All escalation efforts were met with, "We are sorry, but there is nothing we can do," This company is a gun for hire, and I am in the process of switching to a different home and auto insurance company. It's best that you just double whatever ETA they recommend. And the service they provide is often sketchy or grumpy, so you're often better off finding a local automobile company to assist... My review recommendation is that you do all you can to find auto services away from AAA, because they are terrible.

If zero was available that's the real grade AAA deserves. Too big for the customer service needed to make people happy. Years I have been with AAA since 18 years old, and recently turned 59. The service is horrible in the Mid City area. American Eagle Tow is the main service provider and they run the tow business like it's from a third world Country. Seriously, they lack common sense skills and clearly it's about the cancellation and not actually towing. Promise you companies like American Eagle Tow in Los Angeles are what's wrong with our business practices in the USA.
AAA's main service providers handles real emergency calls with poor English language skills and impenetrable accents, and/or are rude and abrasive, and keep interrupting you while you are trying to explain your situation. They tried telling me about my car like it was a man vs man macho thing and looked more like idiots. I had Fourteen requests and all were NO tows just because I requested a certain tow truck for an all wheel drive vehicle. Zero stars AAA.

I've been a member for years, because I wanted the "peace of mind." However, I broke down yesterday. They kept saying they were "checking" and would get back to me but only responded when I messaged them (which prompted several identical and frustrating messages from them). I know the tow distance was long (around 90 miles) but they promise 100 miles towing distance and that's what I've paid for. I waited HOURS outside in the heat. And finally had to call someone else to come pick me up from 2 hours away because I was stranded in a secluded area at night as a woman - because by the time they admitted it wouldn't be "tonight" it was 10 pm and all my options were gone.
Cue next day when they give me a time frame for someone to come get the car and guess what? I get a phone call at the end of the two hour window (after more HOURS of waiting at my car for them to show) that said they had to try a different driver. After another 2 hours, they finally admit that they can't do the tow - people, availability, holiday. If I'd known this earlier, I would've just called a local shop and paid out of pocket but I foolishly believed they would deliver on their promises to their customers. It took a full day for them to finally tell me the truth about their incompetencies and they'd have to wait till Monday (which I already communicated that I couldn't do, as I was in a bad parking area).
Granted, they were polite when talking to me but it doesn't negate the fact that they failed to uphold their end of the agreement (providing the service I pay them for). I'd give less than one star if I could. I'm canceling this because there's no point in wasting money in someone (company) who is unreliable, breaks promises, and leaves you stranded.

We have been members of AAA for 35 years, so it is not that we just signed up and did not get our way. I needed AAA to provide roadside assistance, the very thing we have paid for so many years. They took 45 minutes to acknowledge that they were "Looking for a company", so I used another service. That service got back to me in 5 minutes and said a tow truck would be there in 75 minutes, which turned out to be about 90 minutes. The driver of the truck said they get all the calls from AAA and mine was not one of them. AAA customer service said, "We're sorry, we sent them an electronic notification" and that was it.

We had a tire blowout on our RV and had paid for the upgraded RV coverage through AAA. When we called for service, we provided the make and model, and even confirmed it was an RV. We were told help would arrive within 30 minutes and received a text confirmation. After that, we couldn’t reach a live person—only an AI system. Three hours later, a tow truck finally arrived, only for the driver to tell us he had been dispatched for a Ford F-150, not an RV, and he couldn’t help. He left, and we had to start the entire process over.
We explained again that we weren’t in a safe location—people were blocked in, growing angry, and we were stuck in a hot vehicle with no water. SIX HOURS went by, and still no assistance from AAA. At 11 p.m., fearing for our safety and nearly out of gas, we ended up paying out of pocket for a mobile tire repair service to get us out of the situation. AAA completely failed us. This was not just inconvenient—it was dangerous. We will be canceling our membership immediately and will never rely on them again. Travelers beware.

AAA didn't come when daughter locked keys in car. I got to her about 3 hrs later. Called AAA to let them make it right, they said $40 returned to my account, which, since you pay for the whole 12 months in advance, any normal person would believe that to be thst they were returning money to my card. But got a note in mail that said it was $40 in AAA Dollars and I’d only see it as a credit and ONLY if I renew in 5 months!!
I called again to make it right, 3 agents, a real life Karen, another lady, and then Phil, all toed the company line and refused anything further. They said the previous calls were recorded and could listen and see what was said, and when I told the smart a$$ Phil to listen to the call and see if his agent explained it to me the day she told me about the $40, and he basically threatened to do so, I said do it. He did. About an 8 minute hold and he returned and claimed he could not, in fact, find the previous calls.
During the course of the next 5 minutes he let a couple things slip that let me know he HAD, in fact, heard the call. Called out his lies and told him I knew he had to say he couldn’t find the call because he couldn’t stand by what his agent had told me. This company is garbage. They also left my 76 year old dad stranded and had to sleep in his car last year when his car broke down, and he ended up having to call tow companies the following morning and paid for the tow himself!!
Do NOT WASTE your money thinking they are a good safety net for your family. I’ve been a customer with 4 people on the account for 6 years. They couldn’t care less and claimed they make no guarantees on whether they can get to you or not. Ummmm, what’s the point of the business if they take your money in full but do not deliver service when needed?!

I signed up for AAA Plus thinking I’d be covered right away. $85 for the membership—fine. Then I needed a tow the same day and got hit with an "expected" $125 "service fee" because it was within the first 3 days of signup. What they don't make clear is that your Plus benefits (like free long-distance towing) don't actually activate for 7 days—until then it’s an extra $7 per mile beyond the basic coverage. I even told them: "Why don't I tow it 3 miles for free today, park it somewhere, and I’ll call you in 7 days to finish the job for free under my Plus benefits? If you waived the mileage fee, that would save you the cost of sending two trucks!" Their rep actually said: "Yeah, I understand it sounds silly." 100% bait-and-switch.

AAA is no longer the company we remember as serving customers with class. They are a rogue company who finds a way to get you to their customer service locations to have your car serviced for a reason that may not be valid. They sell bad batteries through their affiliate, Pete's AAA Mobile Services. Beware especially when you are stranded on the side of the road and have your battery checked. The batteries are inferior to regular batteries. They are designed to lose a charge after 4 days or more. Sometimes before. This is a fact! They don't want to be responsible for anything that goes wrong and will weasel out of their responsibility.
Conveniently, they tested two cars for me. One was owned by a certified mechanic. It needed a battery, and they advised me to take my car to an AAA Service Center. Then did the exact same thing with a Genesis I owned, to the letter. I no longer trust them at all. They've lost their class and gone wrong for profit. There is a Difference between making a profit from a legitimate business and making money from a scamming business. A technician came out to replace a title that lost air with a spare. He bent up one of the lug nuts with the air gun that takes the screw nuts off the tire. The installation tech who replaced my battery lost my battery bracket. Trips to the service center? You're safer just not doing business with them. Facts!

DO NOT USE THEM. AAA used to be the gold standard of roadside assistance - that ship has sailed. Had a check engine light come on in my vehicle last night. Call in was 25 min wait, so I used the "app". After finishing my roadside request my account moved to Request Received - Awaiting Assignment. It stayed there for more than an hour. At this point I called in - was told my information was there - and that my account was assigned just the app hadn't updated.
In years passed, tow drivers or AAA have texted me letting me know a timeline. No text, no call, NO communication whatsoever. After 2 hours - I contacted a local tow company and arranged my own service. The AAA had left me in a very unsavory area - and it was getting dark. I attempted 3 times to call in to cancel my service. No one ever answered so I gave up. My car was towed and I left. At TWELVE FIFTEEN AM they AAA called me to tell me that they weren't able to find a provider to assign my service request to - and that if I wanted I could bill them back for service. I lost it. Stupid game, stupid company, stupid follow up. DO NOT USE.

Having so many new items in this home, irrigation system using a well, pool equipment, roof solar for heating the pool, a security system, and water purification system to name a few.
She walked us through what’s covered, what’s not, how to get FEMA flood insurance, hurricane insurance and how to prepare for hurricane season. I can call her at anytime and she returns my calls immediately. I could never get a return call from my KY agent. If she goes out of town, the agent covering for her is in contact with me. Apparently you get 20 days of not paying before they cancel everything. So now, we are out home owners insurance and an auto coverage.
The only reason we knew this is the fact they sent a refund check to us with no explanation. We had a perfect record with them up until this mistake. They refuse to let us pay and get our rates back. We assumed since we have autopay, that meant EVERYTHING was taken out. THEIR COMMUNICATION IS A JOKE AND THIS COMPANY IS PATHETIC. My recently deceased mother had a AAA membership, and AAA took intentional actions to delay and interfere with providing me a refund for the potion of her membership that was unused due to her death. AAA's supervisors acknowledged to me that AAA sets procedures to direct its representatives to send a check to the deceased member without allowing the heirs of the deceased member the opportunity to first provide documentation showing they are entitled to the funds. When I escalated the matter to AAA's general counsel's office, that office failed to promptly handle and delegate my complaint, failed to respond to basic requests for information, including providing me with my mother's membership agreement that I requested, and otherwise hid behind line-level employees to evade accountability for its organization's misconduct.
After I informed AAA that I was about to file a legal action against AAA, I only then heard from a line-level employee who said that AAA would promptly send me the refund check. However, AAA did no such thing. After requesting that the check be sent via expedited delivery due to the delays that already transpired as a result of AAA's misconduct, AAA deliberately sent the check via the slowest method possible so that it could skimp on mailing costs and hold onto my mother's unused membership funds for as long as possible. Throughout this process, AAA consistently broke its commitments and internal timelines, leading to me not receiving my mother's refund check for nearly six weeks after first requesting it. AAA defended these delays as being consistent with its policies and procedures.
Based on this experience, it is clear that AAA's motto is "Delay Assistance and Evade Accountability at All Costs," even if it means making life more difficult for the loved ones of the deceased. I could only imagine what it would be like to seek roadside assistance from AAA. If they handle the roadside assistance the same way they handled the processing of the refund for my mother's membership, they would delay assistance for hours or even days while justifying such delays as being consistent with their policies and procedures. I advise everyone to be wary of such an organization that prioritizes being cheap over providing assistance to its members or their heirs.

AAA is horrible!!! Would give 0 stars if I could!!! Wait times are very lengthy even when you notify them that vehicle is not in a safe spot. A friend waited 7 hours for a tow recently which is ridiculous. Had my car breakdown in the middle of a blind curve and skipped calling them today. Now to see if they will reimburse me for the tow I had to have quickly. Knowing that the highway patrol was coming and if they called for a tow I would be charged more, I placed a call to a local company who was there in 20 minutes. If AAA would have been called I’d probably still been sitting there waiting. Not worth the money anymore. The only reason I keep it is because I had auto renew on and didn’t catch it in time and my daughter is on my policy as a secondary. She lives in a more populated city where service is maybe a touch better. After this year I will probably cancel.

AAA Waukesha on Mooreland Road. I have had the worse luck with AAA and their billing. At 1st they could NEVER get my bill correct and tried to overcharge me several times due to their "computer". I literally had to go into their office and face to face with them and then it was a whole different story. Then I had a good run with them and all seemed to be going smoothly. Until recently, when they said my auto payment did not go through for my auto. I literally had to go back into their office and get it straightened out and provide my CC AGAIN to them. Now my renters insurance has expired! Even though I spent 30 minutes on the phone with 2 different people so that they could transfer my information from 1 computer to the other. Thinking it was all good to go, when I was in the office yesterday fixing my auto insurance they told me since my renters insurance lapsed it is now DOUBLE what I was paying! From 186 to 460! WT??? Absolutely NOT!
I have Never filed a claim. It was their fault that they did not have their billing up to date AS ALWAYS! They are USELESS.! Same thing happened with my AAA membership. Called back for assistance, only to be told a second time that I was out of tows, even though I had only recently paid for my membership renewal and did not use before today. Had to try and get Nashville, TN to fix this error so that I could get help in Goldsboro, PA. Was told that this was a computer error, which would eventually work itself out. When?
After three hours (at 10:56pm) I received a call to let me know we were not getting any tow service tonight, but I could try again in the morning. How and why is AAA doing this? Leaving their members stranded in a deserted and seemingly unsafe place? Is this legal? Is there no recourse for this kind of service? Why are people still supporting this extremely poor and unsafe service?

The car was in the process of being registered and tags have not been received yet. I contacted AAA. The AAA tow truck driver towed the car using an old fashion tow truck which lifted the front wheels but kept the rear wheels on the ground. The car is an all-wheel drive. The driver caused the rear wheels to stay on the ground and drove it to the mechanic shop and caused the transfer box to be damaged.
When the vehicle arrived at the mechanic shop. The mechanic called me and told me that the windows problem m is easy to fix by replacing the controller. He said there is a bigger problem which is the car wheels in the back seem locked and the car moves in the back different form the front which may have problems with the gear box or all wheel drive. I had the car towed back to my house.
Recently, after I obtained the license plates for the car, I took it to a range rover specialist who said the transfer box is damaged and needs replacement. See attached repair estimate. Please refer to the attached estimate for the repair which is $4,560. Richard ** from AAA sent us an email denying the claim because the car did not have tag and was in the process of being registered. He is trying to play games and refusing to cooperate. Outstanding Service by Fox City's Towing – AAA’s Mistake Caused Chaos. I want to give huge recognition to the driver from Fox City's Towing (**)—He was absolutely phenomenal. It was AAA that screwed up the address, but this driver went above and beyond to help in a way I’ve never seen before. Despite receiving the wrong location from AAA, he didn’t just give up—He searched the area, asked people nearby if they had seen a breakdown, and worked tirelessly to find my daughter and son, whose car battery had died in the freezing cold. Instead of leaving, he pinned the location with me, texted, called back multiple times, and stayed committed to solving the issue. His dedication was unmatched, and he truly deserves a raise or a cash bonus—this man is a hero.
AAA’s Mishandling of the Situation. The real problem was AAA’s incompetence. After calling them three times, they still had the wrong address. My third call was especially terrible—I was treated rudely, and the stress was so bad that I started shaking and had to take a nitro pill for my heart. AAA also tried to charge me an extra $100 because the first tow truck left after failing to locate them—Which was entirely their fault for providing the wrong location! Meanwhile, my son’s phone was at 1%, and by the time he got the text that the driver would be there in 15 minutes, his phone died, so he couldn’t answer any calls. This entire situation was a nightmare caused by AAA, but thanks to the incredible Fox City's Towing driver, my kids were finally rescued from the freezing cold. AAA needs to take accountability for this mess, and this driver deserves major recognition!

Another, on a Friday at 4.55pm decided over the phone, to tell me I had an alternator problem and not a battery issue, but called back later and offered to come out the next morning using his private company tow truck. Supervisors lack any sense of responsibility for their teams, seemed unfazed by the forward facing experiences I had. Disappointed is the best thing I can say. There should be a "Zero" Star Rating. I've been a customer for 40 years. Paid the membership fee for 40 years for four family members - not a small amount in total. Probably have used them 4 times in the 40-year period. Mine was a towing experience - like others. And AAA is great on promises, but their "3rd Party Vendor" selection process - especially for Tow companies - has to have a pretty low bar.
No details to provide but suffice it to say that AAA took the words of a Tow Driver over a 40-year customer and determined that they could not underwrite a loss caused by the driver. Canceled my membership and regret not taking a good long look at this a while back. If you are calling AAA for a Tow, one recommendation is to videotape the entire tow connection and hauling - if you can. That's the 'evidence' they needed to underwrite on my behalf. How many consumers traumatized by having to have their vehicle towed - possess the mindset to videotape the guy dispensed by AAA to help them? Very low attention to customer needs by AAA.

Kept pressing zero on automated line until I finally got a human only to find out my roadside service request was cancelled. I never cancelled anything. Last oil change the dealer warned me of battery in low readings and time to replace. Yesterday the battery was dead and I had to get a jump start. Tech hooked up tester today and it says caution ⚠️. Battery is to be 750 cranking amps and AAA tech meter read 650. Would only sell me a battery and cannot look into replacing under warranty. It has left me stranded once and AAA will not replace a caution battery under their warranty. This is alarming and the public needs to know of this not honoring the battery warranty. This will be passed on to consumer services as well.

I called AAA at 7:20pm on 2/11/25 due to my car being stuck in the snow, and I couldn’t accelerate or move from where I was due to the inclement weather. I was informed, I would get a call within 15 minutes from a driver, that’ll be able to assist me and tell me what the ETA will be and when they’ll get to me. 15 minutes passed, 30 minutes passed and 45 minutes passed — no call. I contacted them again requesting an update, as no one has called me. I am informed once I CALL for an update, that they are unable to assist me because they have a service restriction in place for the weather. I’m not mad about the service restriction, I’m frustrated at the fact that no one called me to update me of this nature. If I didn’t call back, no one would have called me to let me know that. I think this is outlandish, as I was left for dead in the sense.
They said that because my tow distance is 30 miles, it’s outside the restrictions limit of 15 miles. But the fact that no one contacted me, and if I didn’t contact them I would never know is insane to me. How can you treat your paying members like this THEN offer no assistance? I asked if I could be put on a list of some sort, to be notified of when the “service disruption/restriction” has been lifted. She informed that they don’t do that, and I’ll have to just keep calling back to get updated on this matter. I am so disappointed, as this was my first time utilizing my membership since purchased.

On Saturday night of 02/01/2025, I was returning home from a nearby supermarket when my dashboard lit up indicating my battery had a charge malfunction. Consequently, I called AAA the following day, Sunday 02/02/2025 and requested battery charge service. The operator who came stated that they did not offer battery charging services, only battery replacement. He checked my battery and stated that it only had 10 volts, whereas a functioning battery had a minimum of 12 volts. Since this was a Sunday and my car dealership was closed, I had no option but to purchase the battery recommended by the AAA truck operator for $291.00.
I asked him to place my original battery in my car trunk since it was just 2 years old. I would return it to the dealership for a prorated refund since at purchase I was told it would last 3-5 years. Once the new battery was installed and the car started, not only did the dashboard still show "battery charge malfunctioning; battery not charging", but there was also a slight rattling sound in my car's hood. I pointed this out to the AAA employee, who then opened the hood, checked the rattling and stated it was normal as the car was re-charging. I pointed out that the dashboard still showed a battery malfunction, and he stated that it would show since the battery was recharging the electrical system.
He indicated that he had 30 years experience as a manager for a major auto repair shop. I accepted his explanation. I did not use the car the following day, however, the following Tuesday evening, (02/04/2025) I drove the car for the first time since AAA installed their battery. I drove to MCO airport which is 12 miles from my home. On my return home, the car died on the highway. All electrical systems gradually shut down and I was barely able to cruise over to the extreme right lane, immediately next to the highway exit. Here I was in the dead of the night, 3 females stranded. I called AAA again, and a different tow truck driver arrived about an hour 1/2 later.
He double-checked the electrical system in the car, opened the hood and after a few minutes of careful testing and checking, determined that the battery was not at fault. The problem was my alternator. I also asked him to test my original battery, which the first tow truck driver said was dead. He determined that nothing was wrong with my original battery and the reason it only showed 10V was because the alternator was not working. He stated that if the proper testing had been done originally, it would have been evident that it was the alternator and not the battery. He could not understand such a misdiagnosis.
I realized then that as nice as the original battery operator who had installed the battery was, it was all done to build trust and con me into purchasing a battery when I did not need one. I have contacted AAA several times requesting they come and pick up their battery which I did not need to purchase, as nothing was wrong with my original battery. I explained that the tow truck driver who came to my home on the previous Sunday only checked the battery and did not complete the check on my car. His only motive was to sell a battery. When I started questioning him regarding a noise in my hood, he reminded me of his 30 years as a auto shop manager at Sears.
I have contacted AAA several times. Each time they attempt to send a service tech to me, and each time I indicate I do not require service, I need AAA to collect their AAA battery. When I indicated that I was going to have their battery removed. I was told that if anyone but AARP removed their battery from my car, they would not be responsible for the battery. I have been going in circles with them and the last message that I received indicated that I cannot return a used battery. ****The battery was used for 12 miles and due to an inept AAA employee misdiagnosis or con, both me, a senior and female and two visiting young ladies were stranded on the highway in the middle of the night.
I have made and I have had numerous conversations with AAA representatives and each time I am told they will send someone to provide services. I repeat constantly that I do not need service, but I need them to collect their battery and refund my money. The last message left states that they cannot collect a used battery. Note, the only time I have used their battery was to travel the 12 miles to the airport, when the car died on the highway in the middle of the night. They keep trying to send someone to give service, and I keep indicating that they need to collect the AAA battery that their representative conned me into purchasing.
We also incurred additional expenses since we had to rent a car after AAA stated they were not responsible if we used their battery and further compromised it. This situation has stressed me to the maximum. I have not driven the car since the 4th of February when I had to be towed from the highway to my home. I am emotionally and physically drained. I am still waiting for them to collect their battery and refund my $291.00 + additional rental car and uber expenses. I am still waiting for a call back which I was told on Saturday 02/08/2025 I would receive from the Complaint / Resolution Dept. ** FYI Beware. - Battery truck operators are compensated with approx. 30% commission for battery sales. They also receive a monthly bonus as well. This explains why I was conned.

Then another text stating there was high call volume and did not have a time. At which time, the cop offered to bring us home. Prior to leaving I called AAA making sure it was ok to leave the car. They told me yes and that we needed to leave the key with the car. So we did.
We get home and I called them to follow up. They stated a tow truck would be there around midnight, a tow truck did show up, but did not tow our car because it was unattended. Again, called AAA extremely frustrated by this time, they send out another service request and they come back with 8:30 this morning. Absolutely unbelievable. On Sunday, Jan 26th 2025, me and my family were visiting the museum of natural history in Washington DC, when around 1:05pm we decided to leave. My minivan was across the street close to the entrance of the museum. When I turned the ignition key, the battery was dead, so I called AAA immediately. First call was at 1:10pm, they gave me an ETA between 2:45pm and 4pm. At 3:40pm I called the second time, then they told me the driver would be there in the next 50min. At 5:22pm I called the last time, I asked the AAA operator to hurry, because my children were hungry and freezing in the van. The lady put me on hold for about 5 min, I told her that it was very disrespectful what they were doing and she hung up on me.
I waited for "5 FREAKING HOURS", for a simply battery jump start! I had my 4 children in the car, including a 10 month baby, freezing! I had a terrible experience, and could've been worse if a random person, probably sent by God, who saw us shivering and desperate for help, didn't come over and offered to jump start my minivan. And after all, when we were finally out of there, the AAA driver called me saying he was there. I told him how frustrated and mad I was, not at him, but for paying for a service that is simply a waste of money, that left me and my family go through a terrible situation that we'll never forget! I felt ashamed in front of my family and simply regret to put my trust in such bad service! I really wanted to be reimbursed for what I paid for this membership! I was told that I was given that receipt in error with an explanation about it went through Booking.com and their rates and it all was very confusing. They didn’t want to hear they charged me one price but the hotel charge was 200 dollars less. And blamed the hotel. I swore I would cancel them then but when I received the bill I thought I would just give them another shot.
So last week I attended a funeral and once again booked a room with them. Upon leaving I asked for a receipt as I always do and the bill was 20 dollars less than I paid them. Again I contacted AAA and was given the same story and blamed the hotel that they should not have given me the receipt. The funny part is that most of the overcharge was AAA charged me twice as much for taxes than was collected. Do they now inflate taxes. I really don’t have any use for them anymore I feel they cannot be trusted. You can get towing service from other companies. Don’t even need their maps or triptik anymore GPS is much better and mostly everyone has it. Do not trust AAA to book a room and think you’re getting a good deal. If you do ask for a receipt when you leave and you’ll see how they are ripping you off.

It’s Jan 5, 2025 - pretty frigid in Pittsburgh PA. Car involved: 1997 Honda Accord. I contacted AAA via the app and they texted me. I believed I need towed from my driveway. The BOT doesn’t understand English. I thoroughly explained the complex issues leading me to believe it’s not just a dead/weak battery! They ordered simple service when I texted long story explaining the issue — bots don’t understand English!! I had to ask for live agent and even she didn’t order towing when I insisted it needed towed. 2.5 hours later —- still waiting for tow arrival!!! Ridiculous!

Don't waste your money on a yearly towing membership! The few times you might actually need a tow aren’t worth the hassle. The subcontracted tow services play games with your time—they'll tell you they'll arrive in 30 to 45 minutes but have no real intention of showing up that soon. Your request goes into a bidding system where AAA initially assigns you a tow, but if a higher-paying job comes in, you get bumped—again and again. This cycle repeats, which is why you could end up waiting up to four hours for a tow. Save yourself the frustration!

Road service has been good overall, but when trying to cancel it, has been NOT!!! Spoke with them 3 months ago and cancel, they said I would receive a refund for $168 within a couple weeks and so far nothing, after several calls yesterday I spoke with Gale who was somewhat polite but interrupted all the time, she said that they don't give refunds if you pay with a check, supposedly they do refund you if you pay with a credit card, which I was never made aware of, not even when canceling. when I asked her to talk to her supervisor she said that a supervisor would call me back and "surprise!" nobody call me back. They make so complicated, specially for the demographic they serve which is older people.

Service at AAA has gotten slower and more rude in the last couple decades. I belonged to their roadside assistance program for forty years and after what I saw yesterday, will never join again. A friend of mine had her car die on a dangerous highway. She joined triple A right then to get a jump start and was told she had to pay an extra 65 dollars for using her membership on the first day. Literally highway robbery. Spoke to a supervisor who would not change the “policy.” Instead of helping my friend when she needed them, they tried to rip her off so she canceled her membership. A company not worth dealing with anymore.

She is a valued employee and was respectful and very knowledgeable. Thank you so much Ayanna **. Both my grandson and all my extended family are members of AAA.

Absolutely terrible service! I called the help number on my membership card, and it suggested using the virtual method for help. That failed, and App said to call. I waited on hold for almost 2 hours listening to a recording about how great AAA is, but no one picked up, and no help. I gave up and made other arraignments.

Have you waited for hours and hours they don't respond back or let you know how long or nothing! When they tell you a tell it still be 4 to five hours. I hate their service PERIOD. I would not recommend them to anyone.

If I could give them a 0 I would. Was left stranded 900 miles away from home with nothing but lip service from this company... Isolated incident? No, my son was left to wait 3 hours for help with a flat just less than 3 months prior to that. Not the AAA of days of old... Not worth it, looking for a better service.

I have been seeing TV ads for AAA roadside service just before the holidays and I want to let people know to not waste their money! I was a 20-year member who had to cancel and demand my payment back, that's how bad it is nowadays. They couldn't jump start or replace a bad battery even though they should have. BEWARE.

It's ALWAYS a bad experience with this company. Unbelievably inept at what they're supposed to do. Their role is to help people when in distress. How is keeping people waiting on a winter's night 2 hours & 45 minutes and still after all that time they don't even have a towing company confirmed to tow you??? This was the 3rd and now final time I have tried to use them and the other two times it was a 3 hour wait each time.
Can I rate a negative number? They never follow back up with you, never have an answer, just leave you there saying "We'll call you once we confirm." Then you stand there on the side of road like an idiot knowing NOBODY will ever call you back. SINFUL. I ended up leaving my car there, I scheduled a pick up at 8:30 tomorrow morning. My dime says nobody shows up for at least 90 minutes despite 12 hours notice ands having it confirmed. Stay away from these guys. They take your money and never really help unless you get lucky. I'm never renewing again.

I was on the road late last night, about midnight when I had a blowout about 3.5 hours from home. It was a cold night about 25 degrees so I decided to call AAA. I received a recording to go to my cell to sign up for service. This was a bad idea on the part of AAA to automate this, when you are cold and in need of help you want to talk to someone.
The automated sign up did not work so about 30 min wasted. I called back and got a real person that was very rude. She was unable to verify my membership which we have had for 24 years so after holding on about 30 more min she came back and told me she could not verify. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told that she already spoke to supervisor and could do no more. Then she hung up on me in mid sentence. So there I was in 25 degree weather at 81 years old changing the tire, it took a while but I managed to do it. This is what we have paid for for 24 years. I will be looking at other options today. The problem is they are a large company and do not mind losing a few customers because they will pick up more along the way.

I called for a tow just before midnight. It is 3:30 and still no tow. I am 80 years old and cold. This is unacceptable. I can wait here until five in the morning or walk home. The thing triple a knows about me right away is my name, my phone number and my date of birth. If one company could not handle it, they should have callled in another. Poorest service on the planet. I’m not only done with them but I am contacting every senior I know to let them know how we are treated.

Read the whole review. My father was a member for many years. He gave memberships to kids and grandchildren every year. He had a triple A battery installed a short while ago. Unfortunately he passed away 2 months ago. The battery is now not performing as it should. I am his son and called for my mother to see about the battery being replaced under warranty. I was told since he passed that his account is closed and since my mother's name was not on the account the battery warranty is terminated. They did everything together so the reason for her name not being on the account. Didn’t feel the need. Anyways the best they could do was to tell me to go buy another battery and fill out a form, they would review it to see if maybe there was something they could do. A hassle after all these years of membership. I don’t think any of the 7 of us will be renewing our membership.

I went outside and discovered that I had a flat tire. Instead of using the roadside assistance through my insurance carrier I opted to get a classic AAA membership to get help with the tire. After calling to request help I was told that there is a 65 dollar service fee to sign up and use it the same day. Shame on me for not reading the fine print, but when I looked up this "policy" regarding using the service on the same day it did NOT say anything about 65 dollars and also said "A service fee for members wanting to join and use Roadside Assistance the same day may apply".
After calling back and speaking to Sharon, I was told that the 65 dollars depended on my area so that's why there is no dollar amount listed for this service fee. I also asked what conditions would allow for the fee to NOT be applicable since it says "may apply" to which Sharon didn't know why it says "may", so I asked to speak to a supervisor. I was placed on hold for a few minutes and Sharon returned to tell me that supervisor, Debbie, advised to submit a complaint in which someone would call me back usually within 72 hours. I never spoke to Debbie. I am absolutely disgusted and upset that I just wasted my money because of the misleading language from AAA. It actually states "You can use your Roadside Assistance CLASSIC level benefits as soon as your membership payment is processed.." It's just not adding up. How is this legal?

I have interacted with AAA 3 times for towing a Tesla. Twice for a flat tire and once for a dead battery (battery coolant heater malfunction). Each time AAA sent a tow truck that couldn’t tow a Tesla despite knowing it was a Tesla Today after 3 hours and 3 phone calls Tesla couldn’t identify a towing service. It took my 45 seconds to find and call a towing service that could tow my car. Either towing companies don’t want to discount their services for AAA or AAA wants us to give up & pay for towing ourselves. It cost $162 to tow my car. Our AAA membership cost is $300/yr which we plan to cancel.

First time, the lazy guy answering the phone, simply read a script about a title transfer which was irrelevant to my question. Then, he put me on hold for 10 minutes. Round two. The same lazy moron said, "wow" when I asked him about insurance. He was rude, stupid, disinterested, and unprofessional. Round three. I went to the Greensburg, PA site to get travel maps. The staff were on their cell phones and did not address me. Looked like typical stupid bureaucrats. I cancelled my entire family's memberships. DO NOT USE AAA. It's become a quasi-government quagmire of incompetence.
