Called for a tow at 6 pm. Was not given an ETA or contacted again. Asked for an ETA and was told soon. That time came and went so I asked again for an ETA and was told soon. That time came and went as well. I asked every half hour or so and was told soon or a driver is on their way. It’s currently 11 pm and I have not heard from a driver about when I would be towed but the AI insists it will be in 15 minutes though I fully expect to be here until 8 am tomorrow with this AI telling me someone will be here within the next half hour every time I ask. If I could give zero stars I would.

I seriously do not understand how AAA is still in business and has not had a huge class action lawsuit against them yet. They truly are the biggest scam. Charge you for a service, and every time I have tried to use it I am told they “do not have any providers in my area” (mind you I live in a major city where there are a ton of towing companies). They have left me stranded in very dangerous situations numerous times now. And what is their point of even asking “are you in a safe location?”. You tell them no and they still don’t do a thing!

It is a Nissan Frontier that had two magnets on the doors advertising our business. They refused to help and left my wife and daughter STRANDED on the side of the road. But they never had any problem taking my money every year. SHAME on you for this!!!!

Waited over 2 hours in the middle of a busy highway after telling the dispatch services we were not in a safe location. They said someone would be out within an hour. I had to call back after receiving a text stating our service had been pushed another 79 minutes after waiting an hour already. The car was almost hit several times due to the location of the breakdown. There was no urgency to help get us off the road.

I needed to remove a family member from my roadside coverage and I did so on my website account with AAA before the term expired. Lo, I got billed for the same renewal so I call 4 days after the new term, and I am informed that I cannot DELETE someone from my account online, but I can ADD someone my account online. BUT there is no content informing me of that ONLINE. Furthermore, they charged my account 30 DAYS before the new term began and so I am paying interest and they are making interest for 30 days. Would they credit me? NOOO! This used to be a family oriented company we could all rely on. I AM DONE WITH being treated like something less than an insect.

As older travelers it was important to get the right product at an affordable price in case a medical emergency occurs during our trip. She explained every detail of what our product would and wouldn't do for us and was so engaging while answering our questions. We will send it back to Florida, 3:30 Driver called, "Where are you?" I gave him my location. "That's not my area." Sent it back to Dispatch, "We will send someone else out," got a call from that driver, "Where are you at?" Well I'm not in that area. 4:00pm back to Dispatch, "We will send someone else out." now it's 5:00pm on I-75, need I say more. Driver called, "I'll be there in 25min." It's now 5:35 no driver. Still waiting on AAA roadside assistance. No one at AAA knows what's going on. The worst roadside assistance I ever had.

My sister was living with me but she moved to TX. When I needed to see what the coverage was I had an issue with the app so I called the number on the card but it was for TX. The lady at customer service said I needed a PA card not TX so she said she going to cancel my card and transfer me. Not thinking about it and really no time to think about it I agreed and she transferred me. Then I spoke to a lady named Delise and she said that I had to buy another plan even thigh the other plan was good until August. I told her what happened and she was amazing. She spent so much time trying to correct the issue the other lady created. It took almost a week to correct it but the time and effort she put in was amazing! I couldn't thank her enough for the great customer service and going above and beyond!

In the beginning it was ok, as the years went by costs went from $6.00 and change to $7.00 and change. But after being with AAA for like 7 to 8 years with no claims it went to $10.00 and change! That's not only unacceptable, highway robbery, and or price gauging. Note: at the $7.00 and change cost I didn't mind, I even had the Gold card. AAA in my eyes should refund either all what was paid in over this period of time or at least half with no use or claims of any services.

Young dude didn't even try to assist me nor were he allowing me to speak to inform him how to assists me. Rude and distasteful to pull up and stand outside his vehicle for 2 minutes then back in his vehicle for 1 minute. I will not recommend AAA or Amana company to anyone and will be leaving a Yelp and Google reviews. Just disgusting how I prepaid for a membership to be waiting forever for someone to arrive then when they do to keep me stranded without even trying to assist.

I had to drive on a flat tire 20 miles because if I wanted a tow I would have waited over an hour for that. Went to a tire shop and they put my spare on less than 5 minutes because they actually had my lug size 19.5 unlike AAA and if the dude would have listened he would've known a 19 or 21 will not get the lugs off. Not only did the dude not assist me but went into my vehicle without warning or asking my permission to do so and when I started following him and asking him what he doing he ignored me. Man screw Amana employees and AAA since they agree to partner with that horrible company.

I called AAA to two my car to on 10/17/2024 I needed my car dropped off at a mechanic shop to repair a window controls. The car was in the process of being registered and tags have not been received yet. I contacted AAA. The AAA tow truck driver towed the car using an old fashion tow truck which lifted the front wheels but kept the rear wheels on the ground. The car is an all-wheel drive. The driver caused the rear wheels to stay on the ground and drove it to the mechanic shop and caused the transfer box to be damaged.

When the vehicle arrived at the mechanic shop. The mechanic called me and told me that the windows problem m is easy to fix by replacing the controller. He said there is a bigger problem which is the car wheels in the back seem locked and the car moves in the back different form the front which may have problems with the gear box or all wheel drive. I had the car towed back to my house.

Recently, after I obtained the license plates for the car, I took it to a range rover specialist who said the transfer box is damaged and needs replacement. See attached repair estimate. Please refer to the attached estimate for the repair which is $4,560. Richard ** from AAA sent us an email denying the claim because the car did not have tag and was in the process of being registered. He is trying to play games and refusing to cooperate. We have been members for 12 years. Before we file a lawsuit and refer this to attorneys, I wanted to escalate to you. AAA's mission is to help its members and not destroy their cars and then run away and hide like Richard is doing.

Outstanding Service by Fox City's Towing – AAA’s Mistake Caused Chaos. I want to give huge recognition to the driver from Fox City's Towing (**)—He was absolutely phenomenal. It was AAA that screwed up the address, but this driver went above and beyond to help in a way I’ve never seen before. Despite receiving the wrong location from AAA, he didn’t just give up—He searched the area, asked people nearby if they had seen a breakdown, and worked tirelessly to find my daughter and son, whose car battery had died in the freezing cold. Instead of leaving, he pinned the location with me, texted, called back multiple times, and stayed committed to solving the issue. His dedication was unmatched, and he truly deserves a raise or a cash bonus—this man is a hero.

AAA’s Mishandling of the Situation. The real problem was AAA’s incompetence. After calling them three times, they still had the wrong address. My third call was especially terrible—I was treated rudely, and the stress was so bad that I started shaking and had to take a nitro pill for my heart. AAA also tried to charge me an extra $100 because the first tow truck left after failing to locate them—Which was entirely their fault for providing the wrong location! Meanwhile, my son’s phone was at 1%, and by the time he got the text that the driver would be there in 15 minutes, his phone died, so he couldn’t answer any calls. This entire situation was a nightmare caused by AAA, but thanks to the incredible Fox City's Towing driver, my kids were finally rescued from the freezing cold. AAA needs to take accountability for this mess, and this driver deserves major recognition!

On April 1st I bring my car in at 9 am, there was a different person at the desk, He told me they do not resurface rotors, then corrected himself, and said the person who does the resurfacing of rotors is not in today.

Another lady comes to the desk and says we could take a look at it, In disbelief, Not understanding what she meant, but at the same time I said to myself these people must take advantage of many people who don’t know anything about the process of car mechanics. In disbelief I just left the AAA mechanic shop. I drive to Subaru in Brooklyn where I bought the car, and had them do the job. All I can say is that, I wasted my time going to AAA, dealing with incompetent desk workers that know absolutely nothing.

After the seemingly endless recorded menu tree got a recording directing me to a text message which puts you on a text menu tree that offered no option for a boat trailer tire. Back on the menu tree finally able to speak to a person. They informed me AAA Plus membership doesn't include trailer being towed. We cancelled our AAA RV Plus because they left us stranded on the interstate because they only change the outside tire of a 2 tired axel and the inside tire blew.

I said I would pay for the trailer tire to be serviced if they could dispatch someone. The rep said they don't do that either. She didn't offer to give me a number of a tire service to come out and said I would have to find this on my own. We (myself, My Wife and 2 children) have been members since 1989. Luckily I was able to use my phone to locate a road service to help. I don't recommend AAA roadside assistance. I will find a better option. Date of experience: March 19, 2025.

The fleet of drivers are ill trained, inconsistent, don't complete the work or more importantly the reporting of their findings properly. One couldn't jump start the car because his box was out of power and he decided I just needed to be towed.

Another, on a Friday at 4.55pm decided over the phone, to tell me I had an alternator problem and not a battery issue, but called back later and offered to come out the next morning using his private company tow truck. Supervisors lack any sense of responsibility for their teams, seemed unfazed by the forward facing experiences I had. And worse, practically said I was just looking for a free battery from them, even though I had proof of a failed battery test, and used all my allowed calls to AAA for assistance in the 10 weeks since I bought their battery! There should be no stars for this place.

Disappointed is the best thing I can say. There should be a "Zero" Star Rating. I've been a customer for 40 years. Paid the membership fee for 40 years for four family members - not a small amount in total. Probably have used them 4 times in the 40-year period. Mine was a towing experience - like others. And AAA is great on promises, but their "3rd Party Vendor" selection process - especially for Tow companies - has to have a pretty low bar.

No details to provide but suffice it to say that AAA took the words of a Tow Driver over a 40-year customer and determined that they could not underwrite a loss caused by the driver. Canceled my membership and regret not taking a good long look at this a while back. If you are calling AAA for a Tow, one recommendation is to videotape the entire tow connection and hauling - if you can. That's the 'evidence' they needed to underwrite on my behalf. How many consumers traumatized by having to have their vehicle towed - possess the mindset to videotape the guy dispensed by AAA to help them? Very low attention to customer needs by AAA.

Worst experience ever, I have been with AAA since the 80s. You left me and my 82-year-old mother in law on the side of the freeway in sub-freezing temps. After multiple calls and texts, you were unable find me at exit 299 on Interstate 69 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. I was just 2 miles from where we needed to be towed. Our car blew an engine leaving us helpless and unable to even run the heat. I finally had to call a local tow company after 2.5 hours of waiting and ridiculous text messages and calls saying you can't find my location.

Parker towing got to me within 15 min and only charged me $72.90. Now that's a deal, less that my premier-level annual fees from the company I thought had their stuff together. By far and away the worst system and process I have experienced in many years. Unsatisfactory, you should all be ashamed, as a matter of fact, someone should investigate your systems before someone is hurt because of the lack of process. AAA has gone downhill. Buyer beware.

It has left me stranded once and AAA will not replace a caution battery under their warranty. This is alarming and the public needs to know of this not honoring the battery warranty. I called AAA at 7:20pm on 2/11/25 due to my car being stuck in the snow, and I couldn’t accelerate or move from where I was due to the inclement weather. I was informed, I would get a call within 15 minutes from a driver, that’ll be able to assist me and tell me what the ETA will be and when they’ll get to me. 15 minutes passed, 30 minutes passed and 45 minutes passed — no call. I contacted them again requesting an update, as no one has called me. I am informed once I CALL for an update, that they are unable to assist me because they have a service restriction in place for the weather. I’m not mad about the service restriction, I’m frustrated at the fact that no one called me to update me of this nature. If I didn’t call back, no one would have called me to let me know that. I think this is outlandish, as I was left for dead in the sense.

They said that because my tow distance is 30 miles, it’s outside the restrictions limit of 15 miles. But the fact that no one contacted me, and if I didn’t contact them I would never know is insane to me. How can you treat your paying members like this THEN offer no assistance? I asked if I could be put on a list of some sort, to be notified of when the “service disruption/restriction” has been lifted. She informed that they don’t do that, and I’ll have to just keep calling back to get updated on this matter. I am so disappointed, as this was my first time utilizing my membership since purchased.

On Saturday night of 02/01/2025, I was returning home from a nearby supermarket when my dashboard lit up indicating my battery had a charge malfunction. Consequently, I called AAA the following day, Sunday 02/02/2025 and requested battery charge service. The operator who came stated that they did not offer battery charging services, only battery replacement. He checked my battery and stated that it only had 10 volts, whereas a functioning battery had a minimum of 12 volts. Since this was a Sunday and my car dealership was closed, I had no option but to purchase the battery recommended by the AAA truck operator for $291.00.

I asked him to place my original battery in my car trunk since it was just 2 years old. I would return it to the dealership for a prorated refund since at purchase I was told it would last 3-5 years. Once the new battery was installed and the car started, not only did the dashboard still show "battery charge malfunctioning; battery not charging", but there was also a slight rattling sound in my car's hood. I pointed this out to the AAA employee, who then opened the hood, checked the rattling and stated it was normal as the car was re-charging. I pointed out that the dashboard still showed a battery malfunction, and he stated that it would show since the battery was recharging the electrical system.

He indicated that he had 30 years experience as a manager for a major auto repair shop. I accepted his explanation. I did not use the car the following day, however, the following Tuesday evening, (02/04/2025) I drove the car for the first time since AAA installed their battery. I drove to MCO airport which is 12 miles from my home. On my return home, the car died on the highway. All electrical systems gradually shut down and I was barely able to cruise over to the extreme right lane, immediately next to the highway exit. Here I was in the dead of the night, 3 females stranded. I called AAA again, and a different tow truck driver arrived about an hour 1/2 later.

He double-checked the electrical system in the car, opened the hood and after a few minutes of careful testing and checking, determined that the battery was not at fault. The problem was my alternator. I also asked him to test my original battery, which the first tow truck driver said was dead. He determined that nothing was wrong with my original battery and the reason it only showed 10V was because the alternator was not working. He stated that if the proper testing had been done originally, it would have been evident that it was the alternator and not the battery. He could not understand such a misdiagnosis.

I realized then that as nice as the original battery operator who had installed the battery was, it was all done to build trust and con me into purchasing a battery when I did not need one. I have contacted AAA several times requesting they come and pick up their battery which I did not need to purchase, as nothing was wrong with my original battery. I explained that the tow truck driver who came to my home on the previous Sunday only checked the battery and did not complete the check on my car. His only motive was to sell a battery. When I started questioning him regarding a noise in my hood, he reminded me of his 30 years as a auto shop manager at Sears.

I have contacted AAA several times. Each time they attempt to send a service tech to me, and each time I indicate I do not require service, I need AAA to collect their AAA battery. When I indicated that I was going to have their battery removed. I was told that if anyone but AARP removed their battery from my car, they would not be responsible for the battery. I have been going in circles with them and the last message that I received indicated that I cannot return a used battery. ****The battery was used for 12 miles and due to an inept AAA employee misdiagnosis or con, both me, a senior and female and two visiting young ladies were stranded on the highway in the middle of the night.

I have made and I have had numerous conversations with AAA representatives and each time I am told they will send someone to provide services. I repeat constantly that I do not need service, but I need them to collect their battery and refund my money. The last message left states that they cannot collect a used battery. Note, the only time I have used their battery was to travel the 12 miles to the airport, when the car died on the highway in the middle of the night. They keep trying to send someone to give service, and I keep indicating that they need to collect the AAA battery that their representative conned me into purchasing.

We also incurred additional expenses since we had to rent a car after AAA stated they were not responsible if we used their battery and further compromised it. This situation has stressed me to the maximum. I have not driven the car since the 4th of February when I had to be towed from the highway to my home. I am emotionally and physically drained. I am still waiting for them to collect their battery and refund my $291.00 + additional rental car and uber expenses. I am still waiting for a call back which I was told on Saturday 02/08/2025 I would receive from the Complaint / Resolution Dept. ** FYI Beware. - Battery truck operators are compensated with approx. 30% commission for battery sales. They also receive a monthly bonus as well. This explains why I was conned.

My minivan was across the street close to the entrance of the museum. When I turned the ignition key, the battery was dead, so I called AAA immediately. First call was at 1:10pm, they gave me an ETA between 2:45pm and 4pm. At 3:40pm I called the second time, then they told me the driver would be there in the next 50min. At 5:22pm I called the last time, I asked the AAA operator to hurry, because my children were hungry and freezing in the van. The lady put me on hold for about 5 min, I told her that it was very disrespectful what they were doing and she hung up on me.

And after all, when we were finally out of there, the AAA driver called me saying he was there. I told him how frustrated and mad I was, not at him, but for paying for a service that is simply a waste of money, that left me and my family go through a terrible situation that we'll never forget! I was told that there was a back up due to the number of calls, so I waited patiently for almost an hour in the COLD, before calling back to check on my place in line. I was told that they were working on it and it should be soon. I waited again for a good 45 minutes. Finally received a text that someone was on their way, and I would have help in 47 minutes.

After waiting more than 50 minutes I called again. I was told they were "working on it". After Another long wait I called again, and was told no one was available to help jumpstart my car. The agent said they could come the NEXT day - bear in mind it was now after 8pm, and less than 5° and I am ALONE in a car in tears, not knowing what to do. I finally found someone myself to help. I will NEVER recommend AAA, and I will cancel my service. I've been hearing that providers are not working with AAA because they only reimburse them $60....

They kept asking me if the road was plowed and it was so they said they would send another person out so I’d wait 5 more minutes for another text saying due to bad weather no one can come out. Tried to explain what my daughter was told on the phone but yet they want to get paid.

When I finally arrived at the site, the driver put me on the phone with their "so called" manager. He talked in circles in broken English about how this is supposed to work. This is not an acceptable way to conduct business. Tell someone something but get a surprise on site. I paid the $50 cash and I received NO RECEIPT. They sped off in a rush. With a Family Membership Tier Member 4 Plus since 2019, this contractor does not merit to represent AAA Roadside Services. They should be removed from such services. Dishonesty all around at best. My tire burst in the middle of a winter storm. I called AAA of which I am a member and had been for over a year at the time. And probably had used it twice before. They told me over the phone that because I could go in the gas station, which was in a bad neighborhood, I wasn't a high enough risk and that I should just catch an Uber or something and leave my car. Or I could wait but it would probably be nightfall where the temperature was dropping to below freezing so I cancel and drive further on the busted tire. I get further up the road and say I am ok the street and request another tire change. I wait another 1.5.

I drive more and make it home so I modify to have them come to my house and change the tire. They call me and say no they have to reschedule for the next day after 12:00 pm. I say ok 12:30, 12:45 I call. It was canceled because someone supposedly misread the notes. I said, "That is impossible, it was very clear." Mind you other services I called was sending people out immediately but I wasn't spending the out of pocket costs to have AAA reimburse me later when I pay annually for AAA. SMH. I have been a happy member for many years but that has now come to an end. Two years ago I booked a hotel on their site for a weekend to attend a wedding and it cost about 600.00. When I checked out of the hotel I asked for a receipt and it was about 200 dollars less than I paid AAA. I asked the clerk if I was going to receive credit and she said to call AAA. I did and they told me they would investigate it. A few days later the response I got was unbelievable. I was told that I was given that receipt in error with an explanation about it went through Booking.com and their rates and it all was very confusing. They didn’t want to hear they charged me one price but the hotel charge was 200 dollars less. And blamed the hotel. I swore I would cancel them then but when I received the bill I thought I would just give them another shot.

So last week I attended a funeral and once again booked a room with them. Upon leaving I asked for a receipt as I always do and the bill was 20 dollars less than I paid them. Again I contacted AAA and was given the same story and blamed the hotel that they should not have given me the receipt. The funny part is that most of the overcharge was AAA charged me twice as much for taxes than was collected. Do they now inflate taxes. I really don’t have any use for them anymore I feel they cannot be trusted. You can get towing service from other companies. Don’t even need their maps or triptik anymore GPS is much better and mostly everyone has it. Do not trust AAA to book a room and think you’re getting a good deal. If you do ask for a receipt when you leave and you’ll see how they are ripping you off.

Don't waste your money on a yearly towing membership! The few times you might actually need a tow aren’t worth the hassle. The subcontracted tow services play games with your time—they'll tell you they'll arrive in 30 to 45 minutes but have no real intention of showing up that soon. Your request goes into a bidding system where AAA initially assigns you a tow, but if a higher-paying job comes in, you get bumped—again and again. This cycle repeats, which is why you could end up waiting up to four hours for a tow. Save yourself the frustration!

She was unable to verify my membership which we have had for 24 years so after holding on about 30 more min she came back and told me she could not verify. Shame on me for not reading the fine print, but when I looked up this "policy" regarding using the service on the same day it did NOT say anything about 65 dollars and also said "A service fee for members wanting to join and use Roadside Assistance the same day may apply".

After calling back and speaking to Sharon, I was told that the 65 dollars depended on my area so that's why there is no dollar amount listed for this service fee. I also asked what conditions would allow for the fee to NOT be applicable since it says "may apply" to which Sharon didn't know why it says "may", so I asked to speak to a supervisor. I was placed on hold for a few minutes and Sharon returned to tell me that supervisor, Debbie, advised to submit a complaint in which someone would call me back usually within 72 hours. If they are in the towing business and don't know vehicle sizes or can't sit behind a computer and Google how big an f550 is before telling me they can tow it and taking my money for services they can't provide they truly don't care about safety and providing excellence customer service like they proclaim. I ended up on the side of the road for 4 hours and my dad brought my other truck and a chain and we pulled it home. I should have started there instead of wasting my time and money. I'm happy thinking I get a battery replacement. NO, they say my card is they sent me with an expiration date of 5/5/25 and all other correct info is not good. My battery warranty is no good, and I need to pay a membership fee plus an early service fee to have them come look at the battery, this took 6 people and 3 hrs. on the phone and leaving a message with an exec. I locked the keys in my truck with the ignition on but not running. It was a Friday night and knew they would be busy so I was prepared for a wait. After an hour passed I called back to see how long the wait might be, was told they were busy but a dispatcher would call within 10 minutes to give me an eta. Never got that call. After another hour I called back to find out if they had lost me in the shuffle, was told they were busy and that someone would call me within 10 minutes. Never got the call so after the third hour I called back and was told this time that they could open my car in the morning. I explained that wouldn't work because the ignition was on and had been on for 3 hours. I was told I would get a call within 10 minutes, didn't happen. So I finally decided they weren't going to come. They blatantly lied to me!

The next morning my phone rang at 7:30, which I didn't answer. I've been a member since 2017 and had had great experiences until this incident. Had they told me the second time I called they wouldn't be able to come that night, I wouldn't have liked it but would have accepted the fact. However, by repeatedly lying to me I have to rate this as the worst excuse for customer service experience I've ever had. It is beyond inexcusable. I would rate zero stars if possible.

I have had the premium AAA for almost 2 years and just had to use it for a 70 mile vehicle tow home .. My call was dispatched out at 9:30 AM on Sunday morning of a holiday weekend. I was expecting a long wait due to those circumstances. For the first 3 hours I received a few automated phone calls stating they were busy and will get to me soon. For the next hour after that I physically called and got a recording stating my call is in the queue and they will get to me soon.

At the 5 hour mark I called and found a person that apologised and said that it is not normal to have to wait that long and sent my call to a supervisor. The supervisor discovered that the tow co had rejected my call in the morning when they received it, as they only had 3 drivers and were busy. The supervisor located a 3rd party tow Co to come and get me and said they would be responding within the next 1.5 hours. After waiting the 1.5 hours I contacted the tow co directly and was told the driver is almost to me. Shortly after talking to the tow dispatch, I received a call from the driver who stated he was at my residence and looking for me. He drove from close to my pick up location, 70 miles without me, to my drop off point. He then had to drive 70 miles back to get me and 70 miles to my home. Needless to say it was a 12 hour day from the morning call in to the arrival to destination.

I am beyond disappointed with my recent experiences with AAA. I have been a loyal member for over 25 years and have rarely had to call for assistance during that time. However, the service I’ve received over the past two months has made me seriously question my membership. The first call was for a flat tire on my daughter’s car. I requested a tow to a nearby location, but after waiting 90 minutes, the technician showed up without a tow truck and instead put a bad spare on the tire. This was incredibly frustrating, especially since I had clearly communicated that I needed a tow.

The other four calls were all related to a bad car battery. I purchased a AAA battery in November 2021, which was still under their 3-year warranty. With the colder weather, my car has been having trouble starting because of a failing battery. Yesterday, my battery completely died after a movie, and I called AAA at 7:30 p.m. They initially estimated about an hour for assistance, but it turned into a nightmare. I waited nearly four hours in freezing temperatures, repeatedly calling for updates, only to be told it would be another hour or two each time. When someone finally arrived at 11:30 p.m., they didn’t even bring a replacement battery despite my clear request during the initial call. Instead, they jump-started my car and insisted I rev the engine for over twenty minutes to charge the battery before they could test it.

After testing, they claimed the battery was charged and didn’t qualify for replacement under the warranty, despite the obvious issues I’ve been experiencing. My battery is clearly failing, but AAA refuses to honor the warranty. After 25 years of loyalty and rarely asking for assistance, I expected far better service. Waiting hours in the cold and dealing with unprepared technicians is unacceptable. AAA has seriously let me down, and I’m now questioning whether this membership is worth it.

I Called AAA at midnight. My son had a flat tire with no spare. It was 12 degrees outside. He was standard. No gas station around. First they told me $ 100 for the tow, as we used up our 3 for the year. After I pay the $100 she then tells me the first 5 miles is free then $6 a mile after that. My son was over 60 miles away. She never disclosed this information to me. Then I get a notification that it will be over 5 hours for a tow. Scheduled pick up is 640am. I have never been so upset about anything so much in life. We were not a priority. I am canceling our AAA service. I ended up driving to get my son who was so scared. My sick husband took the tire off the car. We saved 470 they were going to charge on top of the 100 they took. I called multiple tow companies. All had availability and took AAA. They said I would have to pay then ask for reimbursement. They failed at their job horribly last night. AAA does not make you a priority.

Unless you can afford the $100 plus for the premium tiers. Don't bother. They charged me $72 dollars a year for the classic tier. Which only gives 5 miles of towing. 5 miles of towing is literally NOTHING when you end up with a broken down car basically in the middle of nowhere. Then you get charged $7 for every mile over that. Which means you can end up paying nearly $100 just for an extra ten miles!

This was me earlier this month! When my car suddenly started overheating. 15 miles from home, 10 miles from the nearest dealership. Spent $30 getting to the dealership, and it would have been $72 dollars tow it home. I've cancelled my membership that I've had for years, and will be looking into other roadside assistance. It's now 9 a.m. and we're being told it'll be another hour before one of their contracted providers can be there. 4 hours - in town. And when she calls you have to jump through hoops to get an actual person on the phone. This money saving feature for them is horrible customer service for someone who is stuck in their car for several hours. He called for service and was told someone would be there around 10:23. At 10:20 he received a call stating there was nobody available and he had to wait until morning. I was fuming. We paid to have this service for peace of mind for my son. I am beside myself. I asked my son to give me his card so I could call and tell them what they can do with their membership. My son asked me not to. So this is the best I can do. How DARE you AAA leave a child stranded at a gas station. I have a feeling this is not the first time. I smell a class action lawsuit. By the second hour, I received a text saying it’s going to be an additional hour for the driver to come get me by the time. The third hour came. I called and spoke with the agent and they told me the driver would not be at my location until 4 AM.. it makes no sense that it should take four hours for a driver to come and pick someone up to take them to where they need to go and to be a member of AAA for nine years. This is unacceptable. This company needs to sign more contracts with tow companies, so that the next person doesn’t have to go through this.

So they did that and right away it was flat again. So the driver left the scene leaving me hanging. I’ve been a loyal AAA member since 2010, but after what I’ve experienced tonight, I’m done for good. I called for a tow at 5:30 PM—and it’s now almost 1:00 AM. I’ve been given nothing but the runaround, empty promises, and flat-out lies. Here I am, stranded 80 miles from home, stuck in my truck, and desperately needing to use the bathroom because I kept holding it in, thinking help was on the way!

After 3 hours, a supervisor named Greg told me someone was coming. He said he’d update the system—he didn’t. I waited over 2.5 more hours, refreshing the system for updates that never came. Finally, I spoke to another supervisor, Orlando, who told me straight-up: no one is coming tonight. So now, not only have I been waiting for hours, but I’m also left out here overnight with nowhere to go, no tow, and nowhere to even relieve myself because I kept thinking help would arrive at any moment!

I can’t believe this is how AAA treats its customers. After 14 years of paying for their service, I’m not renewing my membership. And if you’re thinking about signing up for AAA—don’t. Please don’t put yourself through this nightmare. No one deserves to be lied to and abandoned when they’re in need like this. This is completely unacceptable, and AAA has seriously let me down.

On that occasion I had to wait two hours for someone to show up. Most recently I broke down on the interstate while traveling from PA to FL. I called AAA for a tow, they texted me an hour later saying they were experiencing high call volume and would get back to me later with expected time of arrival. While I was waiting I googled "tow service", the first company I called said they could have someone there in thirty minutes.

And sure enough, they had someone there in thirty minutes. By this time it had been almost two hours since I had first called AAA and they still hadn't gotten back to me with an estimated time of arrival. So when I got home I called to cancel my membership and that too turned into a goat rope. My phone call was transferred twice then disconnected. Had to call them back and start all over again. When I called back around 4 o’clock to check the status on my Towing I was told there was no one available for the next few hours, possibly 3 to 4 hours and also I was told that they are only responsible to get your car off the highway. Having to threaten me to hang the call up saying that I'm not speaking professional on the phone I asked him to please to not take advantage but he didn't care. I'm very upset with AAA. At this point I think I'm going to have to cancel my membership. AAA you need to hire new people that are willing to work or want to work.

I recently had an issue with AAA where I called for roadside assistance for a flat repair, and let me tell you my story. I submitted a roadside assistance request with AAA, they sent one of their 3rd party vendors to facilitate the flat repair of my vehicle. The technician proceeded to jack my car with a floor jack and placed it in the wrong place and caused significant damage. He then repositioned the jack and jacked it up again from the correct position to change the tire.

When I reported the issue to AAA they told me that I had to deal with this damage directly with the vendor. I did not hire this vendor and had no ability to contact them nor did I have any leverage to persuade the vendor to repair the damage. After many calls to AAA they did finally provide the vendor’s phone number. I contacted the vendor and they will not return my calls and have ignored over 20 calls to them. I have no leverage on this vendor and AAA will not support me in my pursuit to get the damage repaired.

I have been a member of AAA for over 20 years but they still refused to help me to get this vendor to do the right thing and fix the damage they caused. DO NOT SIGN UP WITH AAA, they will not support you and will hang you out to dry when their poor vendors cause damage to your vehicle. BEWARE of AAA. They are crooks and are not worth your time or money.
