Service at AAA has gotten slower and more rude in the last couple decades. I belonged to their roadside assistance program for forty years and after what I saw yesterday, will never join again. A friend of mine had her car die on a dangerous highway. She joined triple A right then to get a jump start and was told she had to pay an extra 65 dollars for using her membership on the first day. Literally highway robbery. Spoke to a supervisor who would not change the “policy.” Instead of helping my friend when she needed them, they tried to rip her off so she canceled her membership. A company not worth dealing with anymore.

AYANNA S. Helped me today with a new policy for my grandson which I am allowed to speak on his account. She went through everything thoroughly and was very patient with all my questions. She is a valued employee and was respectful and very knowledgeable. Thank you so much Ayanna **. Both my grandson and all my extended family are members of AAA.

Absolutely terrible service! I called the help number on my membership card, and it suggested using the virtual method for help. That failed, and App said to call. I waited on hold for almost 2 hours listening to a recording about how great AAA is, but no one picked up, and no help. I gave up and made other arraignments.

I have been seeing TV ads for AAA roadside service just before the holidays and I want to let people know to not waste their money! I was a 20-year member who had to cancel and demand my payment back, that's how bad it is nowadays. They couldn't jump start or replace a bad battery even though they should have. BEWARE.

It's ALWAYS a bad experience with this company. Unbelievably inept at what they're supposed to do. Their role is to help people when in distress. How is keeping people waiting on a winter's night 2 hours & 45 minutes and still after all that time they don't even have a towing company confirmed to tow you??? This was the 3rd and now final time I have tried to use them and the other two times it was a 3 hour wait each time.
Can I rate a negative number? They never follow back up with you, never have an answer, just leave you there saying "We'll call you once we confirm." Then you stand there on the side of road like an idiot knowing NOBODY will ever call you back. SINFUL. I ended up leaving my car there, I scheduled a pick up at 8:30 tomorrow morning. My dime says nobody shows up for at least 90 minutes despite 12 hours notice ands having it confirmed. Stay away from these guys. They take your money and never really help unless you get lucky. I'm never renewing again.

I was on the road late last night, about midnight when I had a blowout about 3.5 hours from home. It was a cold night about 25 degrees so I decided to call AAA. I received a recording to go to my cell to sign up for service. This was a bad idea on the part of AAA to automate this, when you are cold and in need of help you want to talk to someone.
The automated sign up did not work so about 30 min wasted. I called back and got a real person that was very rude. She was unable to verify my membership which we have had for 24 years so after holding on about 30 more min she came back and told me she could not verify. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told that she already spoke to supervisor and could do no more. Then she hung up on me in mid sentence. So there I was in 25 degree weather at 81 years old changing the tire, it took a while but I managed to do it. This is what we have paid for for 24 years. I will be looking at other options today. The problem is they are a large company and do not mind losing a few customers because they will pick up more along the way.

Read the whole review. My father was a member for many years. He gave memberships to kids and grandchildren every year. He had a triple A battery installed a short while ago. Unfortunately he passed away 2 months ago. The battery is now not performing as it should. I am his son and called for my mother to see about the battery being replaced under warranty. I was told since he passed that his account is closed and since my mother's name was not on the account the battery warranty is terminated. They did everything together so the reason for her name not being on the account. Didn’t feel the need. Anyways the best they could do was to tell me to go buy another battery and fill out a form, they would review it to see if maybe there was something they could do. A hassle after all these years of membership. I don’t think any of the 7 of us will be renewing our membership.

I went outside and discovered that I had a flat tire. Instead of using the roadside assistance through my insurance carrier I opted to get a classic AAA membership to get help with the tire. After calling to request help I was told that there is a 65 dollar service fee to sign up and use it the same day. Shame on me for not reading the fine print, but when I looked up this "policy" regarding using the service on the same day it did NOT say anything about 65 dollars and also said "A service fee for members wanting to join and use Roadside Assistance the same day may apply".
After calling back and speaking to Sharon, I was told that the 65 dollars depended on my area so that's why there is no dollar amount listed for this service fee. I also asked what conditions would allow for the fee to NOT be applicable since it says "may apply" to which Sharon didn't know why it says "may", so I asked to speak to a supervisor. I was placed on hold for a few minutes and Sharon returned to tell me that supervisor, Debbie, advised to submit a complaint in which someone would call me back usually within 72 hours. I never spoke to Debbie. I am absolutely disgusted and upset that I just wasted my money because of the misleading language from AAA. It actually states "You can use your Roadside Assistance CLASSIC level benefits as soon as your membership payment is processed.." It's just not adding up. How is this legal?

It took my 45 seconds to find and call a towing service that could tow my car. She is on our policy. They then cancelled my tow when another agent I spoke to said we "can't share tows". I explained I WASN'T sharing a tow. It is my vehicle using my membership, I just couldn't physically be there to meet the driver. It is insane that between our family cards we have NINETEEN tows available, but because I said my daughter would be present to meet the driver instead of me, they won't do it since her two allotted tows were gone. Ridiculous. I am choosing to tow my vehicle with my tow service! Really how does it affect AAA if my daughter is there to meet them instead of me?? I am cancelling immediately. It will only cost $70 to tow the vehicle myself. Much cheaper than what I pay AAA per year when we hardly use their services to begin with.

This is the first time I have used AAA for roadside assistance although I have used other providers in the past having owned numerous leased vehicles over a 25 year period and have never needed AAA for that reason and never knew how superior it was. I don’t know if is superior or if this one experience was a one off. Either way you need another category on your survey for the dispatch and the service technician, Henry who was extremely polite, more than qualified and communicative. You would do well to add a category of “exceeded expectations” and I would have checked that in all categories.
The operator was friendly, the texts were frequent and kept me updated and the timeline was surprisingly shorter than I could have imagined and I was not by the side of the road. Way to go AAA. The technician was polite and more than qualified for a simple service. My mechanic when called recommended I not only purchase the battery from AAA but also have them install it if they were able to given the newness of my vehicle and the electrical system. My mechanic too is very honest. Thank you AAA, for the honest and timely service…Highest marks and definite referral and should I need you again, I will not hesitate to call.

My membership allows for 100 miles tow, and one CSR claimed the 30 miles to transmission facility was "a long distance tow" and tow company didn't want to do it!
Finally, at 4:45 PM, after 7 full hrs., trucked showed up and repair facility had already closed for the day. Driver said AAA business has gone downhill, doesn't pay competitive mileage, terrible customer service. I agree. For 2 days in a row AAA towing service left me abandoned in my broken down in my broken down car. First attempt took them 8 hours to tow then the tow driver came and refused to tow stating “we don’t tow from a closed repair shop”. I responded “Yea it’s closed because it took you all 8 hours to arrive”. Next day attempted again after now taking several Ubers and wasting my days to have another tow truck driver arrive on the 2nd day to then turn his tow truck around stating that his truck wasn’t working. He didn’t bother to speak to me or update me nor did AAA. After discovering this update AAA then dispatched “another driver” for the third attempt that never showed up after 6 hours of waiting. One AAA membership advocate had the nerve to tell me that this was out of their control and the part of business sometimes. On my way back home after another failed 2nd day of trying to get a tow. My f550 died on the road today. I googled medium duty tow service near me aaa was first on the list. I called and told them my truck info situation and that I wasn't a member. No problem they could sign me up for a promotion price gold+ membership for 99$ and get me today service for an additional 65$. Ok I paid 165$ they had me on the phone 45 minutes just signing up and taking my money. They finally get a truck to me another 45 minutes the truck they sent was too small for my f550. They keep me waiting another 45 minutes I finally called back and they told me that they have the proper size truck coming eta is 45 minutes.
I'm waiting another 30 minutes go by, AAA calls and they tell me they can't tow a f550. They tell me trucks this big are not covered in the towing agreement. I am fuming now. I ask to refund my money and cancel their useless service and surprise, surprise they want me to call another number, wait on hold for who knows how long. It was a terrible experience. I will never recommend or pay for this ripoff service again. If they are in the towing business and don't know vehicle sizes or can't sit behind a computer and Google how big an f550 is before telling me they can tow it and taking my money for services they can't provide they truly don't care about safety and providing excellence customer service like they proclaim. I ended up on the side of the road for 4 hours and my dad brought my other truck and a chain and we pulled it home. I should have started there instead of wasting my time and money. I locked the keys in my truck with the ignition on but not running. It was a Friday night and knew they would be busy so I was prepared for a wait. After an hour passed I called back to see how long the wait might be, was told they were busy but a dispatcher would call within 10 minutes to give me an eta. Never got that call. After another hour I called back to find out if they had lost me in the shuffle, was told they were busy and that someone would call me within 10 minutes. Never got the call so after the third hour I called back and was told this time that they could open my car in the morning. I explained that wouldn't work because the ignition was on and had been on for 3 hours. I was told I would get a call within 10 minutes, didn't happen. So I finally decided they weren't going to come. They blatantly lied to me!
The next morning my phone rang at 7:30, which I didn't answer. I've been a member since 2017 and had had great experiences until this incident. Had they told me the second time I called they wouldn't be able to come that night, I wouldn't have liked it but would have accepted the fact. I have had the premium AAA for almost 2 years and just had to use it for a 70 mile vehicle tow home .. My call was dispatched out at 9:30 AM on Sunday morning of a holiday weekend. I was expecting a long wait due to those circumstances. For the first 3 hours I received a few automated phone calls stating they were busy and will get to me soon. For the next hour after that I physically called and got a recording stating my call is in the queue and they will get to me soon.
At the 5 hour mark I called and found a person that apologised and said that it is not normal to have to wait that long and sent my call to a supervisor. The supervisor discovered that the tow co had rejected my call in the morning when they received it, as they only had 3 drivers and were busy. The supervisor located a 3rd party tow Co to come and get me and said they would be responding within the next 1.5 hours. After waiting the 1.5 hours I contacted the tow co directly and was told the driver is almost to me. Shortly after talking to the tow dispatch, I received a call from the driver who stated he was at my residence and looking for me. He drove from close to my pick up location, 70 miles without me, to my drop off point. He then had to drive 70 miles back to get me and 70 miles to my home. Needless to say it was a 12 hour day from the morning call in to the arrival to destination.

I am beyond disappointed with my recent experiences with AAA. I have been a loyal member for over 25 years and have rarely had to call for assistance during that time. However, the service I’ve received over the past two months has made me seriously question my membership. The first call was for a flat tire on my daughter’s car. I requested a tow to a nearby location, but after waiting 90 minutes, the technician showed up without a tow truck and instead put a bad spare on the tire. This was incredibly frustrating, especially since I had clearly communicated that I needed a tow.
The other four calls were all related to a bad car battery. I purchased a AAA battery in November 2021, which was still under their 3-year warranty. With the colder weather, my car has been having trouble starting because of a failing battery. Yesterday, my battery completely died after a movie, and I called AAA at 7:30 p.m. They initially estimated about an hour for assistance, but it turned into a nightmare. I waited nearly four hours in freezing temperatures, repeatedly calling for updates, only to be told it would be another hour or two each time. When someone finally arrived at 11:30 p.m., they didn’t even bring a replacement battery despite my clear request during the initial call. Instead, they jump-started my car and insisted I rev the engine for over twenty minutes to charge the battery before they could test it.
After testing, they claimed the battery was charged and didn’t qualify for replacement under the warranty, despite the obvious issues I’ve been experiencing. My battery is clearly failing, but AAA refuses to honor the warranty. After 25 years of loyalty and rarely asking for assistance, I expected far better service. Waiting hours in the cold and dealing with unprepared technicians is unacceptable. AAA has seriously let me down, and I’m now questioning whether this membership is worth it.

Which means you can end up paying nearly $100 just for an extra ten miles!
This was me earlier this month! When my car suddenly started overheating. 15 miles from home, 10 miles from the nearest dealership. I needed a tow and the driver was very disrespectful of his coworkers by calling her names and he broke my key to my car. I contacted Triple A about the broken key and was told many stories. One, it was not their fault, it's the towing company, two the key is old and that's why it broke and they won't fix it, and it goes on. I contacted Full Throttle Trucking, who was the towing company and spoke with the owner. He was rude and told me I was a liar. Then at the end of the conversation he asked what did I want done. I said for my key to be fixed. He told me he had to contact Triple A. I have heard nothing from either company.

The driver took it and then dropped the car off at Big O.
When I found out this had happened, I immediately called AAA and reported the incident. Needless to say after multiple phone calls and promises of a manager to call me back to try to solve the issue. I decided that I would cancel and told the last customer service agent that if I didn’t received a phone call within the next 72 hours that I would not renew. Needless to say, I never received a phone call. When I membership came up for renewal. I did not. When I called back around 4 o’clock to check the status on my Towing I was told there was no one available for the next few hours, possibly 3 to 4 hours and also I was told that they are only responsible to get your car off the highway. When I explain to the dispatcher that my initial call, I told The dispatcher that we would need a ride for two people, and she repeatedly said, "We do not offer rides for two people, only one person," and then I ask, "What if I was with my family and my kids? You’re telling me that you would leave us even if it was in a bad neighborhood?" she replied to me that they were only responsible to get you off a highway, which was a horrible thing to hear.
Long story short AAA is not worth the money. I end up having my wife go to the Ford dealership over 25 miles away and pick up a hose for me and end up changing my hose in a parking lot in the dark. Had AAA told me that they’re not responsible to give rides I would’ve never paid the 200 bucks that I paid for the membership

Well, the second day after paying for a year membership to AAA, I had a flat tire. I was told that they don't provide the service for the first 72 hours of membership or they charge $60. Per AAA employees instructions to keep all my receipts, including if l needed to rent a vehicle until my car was repaired. I borrowed a vehicle as to not pay out more money.

I recently had an issue with AAA where I called for roadside assistance for a flat repair, and let me tell you my story. I submitted a roadside assistance request with AAA, they sent one of their 3rd party vendors to facilitate the flat repair of my vehicle. The technician proceeded to jack my car with a floor jack and placed it in the wrong place and caused significant damage. He then repositioned the jack and jacked it up again from the correct position to change the tire.
When I reported the issue to AAA they told me that I had to deal with this damage directly with the vendor. I did not hire this vendor and had no ability to contact them nor did I have any leverage to persuade the vendor to repair the damage. After many calls to AAA they did finally provide the vendor’s phone number. I contacted the vendor and they will not return my calls and have ignored over 20 calls to them. I have no leverage on this vendor and AAA will not support me in my pursuit to get the damage repaired.

Hello - Writing to share feedback on my membership. Today for the first time to the best of my knowledge I reached out for service on my AAA membership. I sustained the membership across moves from California to Nevada, back to California, to Florida, back to California, and to Texas.
Despite three 3 decades of loyally paying membership fees, today you denied my request for service. I was passed around across three 3 representatives. The third 3rd - Texas AAA - hung up on me after asking how I was doing. I replied that I was not happy, and "Muhammad" hung up on me. This is an egregious and outrageous abuse of policy and customer loyalty. What a sham. AAA has not integrity. I cannot tell how remorseful I am that I loyally paid you for those many years, without absolutely no return on investment. You should be ashamed.

However, today I needed a tow. Got the COMPLETE runaround by csr at AAA. Put in a call at 10:30. Said they would be there in 1.5 hours. Never heard from anyone. Called back at 12:30. Said they would have someone there by 1:50. Called again at 2:00. Still hadn’t heard from anyone, then spoke to a dispatch supervisor, she said they would be there in an hour. I needed a tow truck in the first year, it was 34 degrees at night. After 3 hours, no tow truck. I called AAA and they said a truck was not on the way to our location. I ended up calling a friend to take us home and leaving the car. I later went back with my car hauler to pick it up.

Employees lied about calls, service and dispatched trucks without correcting and installing the proper battery. Purposely ran the complaint time into the expiration date of the membership. Refused to provide service records for our Prime Membership pertinent to service calls. Sent an insulting check for $68.64 instead of the prorated amount or the full refund of $217.47 for the purchased battery for my car.
UNNACCEPTABLE for a company that touts #1 in service. AAA has broken our trust, discriminated against us, negligence, fraud and breach of contract has resulted in lack of service, theft and lack of customer satisfaction; guilty of false advertising, and failed to deliver. I found they are not a member to BBB; but yet, they have an “F” rating by the Better Business Bureau. They are not invested in customer satisfaction and they do not back or support the technicians sent to service the car. They also made false statements by letter affecting and raising our rates to our auto insurance for no reason other than their incorrect information put into the files. Their records are incomplete, missing or incorrect. Their attitude towards us has been unnecessarily discriminatory as we did not create this issue. I have requested the following from AAA:
Refund our entire family Premier membership for 2023-2024 for $181.00; services not received; Refund the entire purchase of the correct battery for $217.47; (to replace the wrong battery installed by AAA; caused damages to my vehicle; Invalidate and remove the incorrect and retaliatory invoice for $100.00 for services not received and generated by AAA; Forward the requested service call records for both premier members from 01/01/2019 through current; Pay for all related travel expenses we incurred since the initial call for battery service was made in September 2023; AAA’s negligence, discrimination and delays have severely impacted our finances without the use of my vehicle for 10 going on 11 months of unreasonable delays and bad business tactics not to correct their bad faith actions.
The recent check of $68.64 is incorrect; and is not the amount discussed with Corporate contact Brenda ** who promised to personally handle this case properly. Case #: **; AAA membership #: **. We are highly dissatisfied and disappointed with AAA. We feel neglected, discriminated against, our contract breached, ignored and lied to on several occasions, victims of false advertising and breach of contract, retaliated against, didn’t receive the services we paid for and will never recommend AAA to anyone, especially family or friends. AAA’s negligence has costs us far more than the new battery and our premier membership. They should not be in business at all.

AAA of Texas is just like the rest of the automobile insurance companies. You join them, forced into buying their Auto Club Roadside Assistance (not the best either). Have an initial good premium. Slowly the rates go up, and up. You been a good driver, no marks are you driver license and you think life is good. After about 8 years of being with AAA your rates go up 25%. Hmm, No accidents, no claims, no dings on your driving record. Why me you ask? It is a state thing they say. So, along comes a bad year for you caught by a Tornado’s Hail, two of your vehicles are damaged. Of course, AAA does not want to pay. Another storm and some other damage to the vehicle. At this point I just want to run away. Finally, AAA decide that you are at risk, and doesn’t renew the policy. So 8 years of premiums no incidents, great driving record, a few not your fault claims, and you gone.
Lesson: As long as you pay the premium and they collect the $$$ and have no claims, you’re good. Life throws you a curve ball, and they dump and run. You should not do business with the worst automobile insurance companies. Companies that advertise the most are more likely the ones to stay away from. This will be hard because of the Google Ranking pushes the big player up front. Do your work. A lot of attorneys can point you to the current reviews and rankings. Next you should dump your present insurance company every so many years and look for better premiums (assuming you have a good driving record) if it is to your advantage. Don’t stay loyal like I did, it is not worth it. Just note here that if you are a bad driver and have insurance consider yourself lucky. Don’t change until your record improves.

Seemed to not understand how coordinates work, which seems like the only responsibility of someone who locates people for AAA. She had some weird incorrect phone number for me, which I carefully corrected. 2. I took a nap and waited to call back until 1 because I thought maybe it was a timezone issue (dumb of me). Received no texts or updates.
3. Called at 1:15, on hold for 15 minutes, transferred a bunch of times. Apparently the Tow truck driver showed up to the place next door, didn't see me, and called "me" - completely the wrong number. The woman on the phone was rude to me when I asserted I had not received any calls. A second tow was scheduled for 2:30am. 4. Not happened. I called AAA at 2:41, passed around to like five people, informed me my tow is scheduled for 9am. Why the would they reschedule a tow for 9am without communicating this to the customer after promising one at 230am? So I'm a young woman by myself stranded all night at a gas station. Finally she said they will call me back if they can find another tow for the nighttime. I heard nothing.
5. I started calling AAA at 8:45. They promised a tow would call me around 930. The tow company did call me and promised an ETA of 9:45. When they didn't show up I called AAA again. They said I can expect an ETA of 11. So, I've now been here for over 12 hours absolutely getting the runaround in every possible way. I have been paying yearly membership fees for what I understood to be as they advertise 24 hour roadside assistance. Their 24 hour roadside assistance is a complete sham. I broke down on an extremely busy highway at 8'30pm. I called for a tow and was told the driver would be there at 10:35pm. I call back at 11pm and they tell me they have created another call and a tow would arrive by midnight. Well I call again at 12:05 am and finally get connected to a dispatcher and they state the tow truck driver will arrive now by 1:30am. I'm a patient man but at this point I have lost faith that a tow truck is ever coming. Surprise no tow truck driver arrived at 1:30am.
I make another call and the representative tells me a supervisor will call me back with more information. Now it's 2:30 I demand I speak to a supervisor. This is what the supervisor tells me "I have contacted the tow truck driver and he refuses to come out to tow my car, he will be there at 8am". They then offered me a $30 Lyft voucher to get home and told me to leave my car on the shoulder with the keys in it. The $30 voucher for Lyft was nowhere near enough to get me home. I had to find a family member at 3am in the morning to get me home. I did sleep at all and I received a call from my family member that at 8:15 he drove by and the car was still there.
I call AAA once again and was told the driver would be there soon. 9:30am I'm told by my family the car is still there. I call again and the supervisor said the driver was on his way. The driver arrived at 10:07am, with incorrect information of where he was taking the vehicle and that I wasn't with the vehicle. AAA doesn't provide 24 hour roadside assistance they provide 11 hour roadside assistance and they could careless about you being stranded on a busy highway.
All the many years of giving them my money for "peace of mind" while traveling only to experience the worst customer service I have ever had. I was also promised a manager would contact me about this situation and I have yet to receive that call. Since I have not heard from them I have filed a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I was told I would get text updates and I never did, even when my number was corrected. And the only update that did come through was inaccurate.
My car wasn’t picked up for over four hours when I was told I would have a 75 minute wait. Not to mention the towing company never called to provide updates, so I had no idea when my car was picked up or dropped off and had to continually call Triple A for information. They do not take responsibility for the damage caused by the towing companies they contract with. A few years ago, I was stuck with about a thousand dollars of damage caused by a AAA contractor. After AAA gave me the run around on this, I decided not to renew after more than 30 years of membership. I don't need them anymore anyway, since I have roadside assistance from three other sources for a nominal fee or no fee.

My recent encounter with AAA has left me thoroughly dissatisfied and frustrated. I sought their assistance for towing services, assuming I would receive comprehensive guidance and support. Unfortunately, AAA fell short of even the most basic expectations. Firstly, I was not adequately informed about their policies regarding towing restrictions. It was only after my car needed towing that I was informed, quite abruptly, that because I didn't opt for a AAA-affiliated dealership, I would need to arrange my own towing company. This lack of upfront communication was both surprising and inconvenient, as it left me scrambling to find an alternative solution at short notice.
Moreover, the misinformation didn't end there. When I attempted to clarify the logistics of having my vehicle towed to a specific location, I was given conflicting and incorrect information. I was initially told that my car couldn't be picked up from the same drop-off location where it was originally towed, which turned out to be entirely inaccurate. This led to unnecessary delays and confusion, as my vehicle was first towed to my residence and then subsequently to a dealership several days later.
What struck me most about this experience was the apparent lack of concern for providing accurate and helpful information. It became evident that AAA's primary focus appeared to be on maximizing profit rather than ensuring customer satisfaction. The disregard for clarity and the inconvenience caused highlight a fundamental flaw in their customer service approach.
In conclusion, my interaction with AAA has been nothing short of disappointing. The company's failure to communicate effectively, coupled with their apparent indifference to resolving issues promptly, has severely impacted my perception of their reliability and professionalism. I sincerely hope that AAA takes steps to address these shortcomings to prevent others from encountering similar frustrations in the future.

The service is honestly very overpriced for what you get. At close to $200 a year for two people in my family I literally used it for nothing. I tried the order of insurance and the quote was much higher than what I got and the second time they quoted me the same exact company I already had at a higher price. I tried to book travel through their site and that too was a higher cost than any of the other travel sites that I use. While I do want a roadside assistance I am now coming to feel that going with my car insurance company for roadside assistance is the cheaper way to go. In the past it wasn't like this. It was a good value for the money but that is no longer the case sadly. The final straw for me is upon renewal you have no access to change your membership to a lower level membership without actually calling them. It would be nice if they had an up-to-date technology website that you could do these different tasks.

I have been a member for many years. The service has been progressively worse. For example, when occasionally I needed help by towing it takes hours to come. When you call because the car does not start due to you left the lights on or any similar situation, the service person that comes is a salesman that his purpose is to sell a new battery to get his commission otherwise he became very upset. I had a battery under warranty and they refused to honor the warranty even that I had it in writing.
They look for excuses and they said that they are contractors and cannot accept any warranty discounts. When I call AAA they said that according to the technician it does not need to be replaced only recharged but 2 different serviceman from AAA told me that the battery needs to be replaced. I already took the battery to be recharged and it did not work. After 1 week the car does not start. It is sad when you see an organization that fails to provide the service that you are paying for and the only purpose is to take money from you without any ethics.

Updated on 07/19/2024: Didn't give me a full refund either, kept $15 too after wasting my time. What a great company. Good Sam Roadside Assistance have higher IQ's, they said it doesn't matter if your selling or repairing your car as long as it's a certified repair shop. Cheaper membership to talk to logical people and aaa over here denying service you pay for and keeping money they didn't tell you about.
Original Review: This could have been a 5 star review, but unfortunately Cecilia the supervisor I spoke to would rather argue over the phone and lose a member about not towing a disabled car to a certified repair shop because it's going there to be sold instead of being repaired. In the terms and conditions it states to your home or certified repair shop.
If I was bringing it there to be repaired and the repairs are too much that I would rather sell the car to them, are you guys gonna do a follow up phone call? "Hey, what did you end up doing with your car?.. Oh you sold it when you initially brought it to be repaired?.. Yeaa you can't tow your broken down car to a certified repair shop to be sold, no you have to get it repaired because selling it and getting another car to drive on the road and continue to use your membership would pretty much be the same outcome if you were to get the car repaired. Just we care how you're getting to that outcome, and we rather you keep a broken down car that you can't use than assist the member with getting another one."
Thanks for cancelling the membership and issuing the refund because that is really negligible on your guy's part. Roadside assistance is supposed to help you get back on the road, they literally prevented that from happening today. Have a great day Cecilia and just look up the definition of transport, that's exactly what your company is. Transporting disabled vehicles to a certified repair shop which you guys refused to do lol.

Finally, after dark, I no longer felt safe on the side of the road so I had to make the very difficult decision to leave my car with the keys in it unattended for an uncertain amount of time. At 4 am, FOURTEEN HOURS after my initial call they finally picked my car up only to drop it off at the wrong location. They then thought that I should pay $50 for them to correct their mistake. 3. Great Resources—not anymore! Although information is available online and printed books are no longer available, the quality and number of hotel listings have significantly decreased.
4. Overall Service Quality—not anymore! This has deteriorated. AAA’s decline in service quality, particularly the lack of incentive for vendors, has led to services becoming slow, expensive, and subpar, which is disappointing.5. Never saw AAA!
By the way, I am 63 years old, but you can't relay the circumstances to a robotic call. Trust me, when you call, you won't talk to a person, you just get a menu to push a button for. We were told by the local AAA dispatcher that a tow truck would be at our house within two hours. After waiting for 2 1/2 hours, we called AAA for an update and were told that the tow truck wouldn't be at our house until 1:30pm. Still no tow in sight around that time. We called AAA at 1:45pm for another update and were told that the tow truck company they partner with is short-staffed and that there were about 15 calls to ONE tow driver, which he was addressing. We were given no time estimate and basically encouraged to just keep waiting. The tire shop closed at 5pm that day and wouldn't reopen until Monday, which would have caused my husband to miss work that day.
We also had plans ruined on Saturday due to waiting around the entire day for a tow! We finally gave up on AAA and decided to call a local tow truck and pay a fee. That tow company said it happens all the time with AAA. This is absolutely unacceptable service to paying AAA members! First, maybe AAA needs to partner with more than one tow company to assist their members on busy traffic weekends. Not only that, but the excuses that dispatchers continued to make (i.e. short-staffed, 15 other calls) didn't help the matter. It should be first come, first serve. We had called at 8:30am that morning and other calls were prioritized ahead of ours and their time estimates were so wrong. Not only that, AAA should have been reaching out to us with regular updates as well as offers to make things right for us so we weren't left wondering and waiting for 8 hours!
It's a good thing that my husband wasn't stranded somewhere on the side of the road in the middle of the night. I would hope AAA would respond quicker in such situations, but I don't trust them. No one from AAA even called to follow up with us once we cancelled the tow request hours later. This is just not how AAA should be treating paying members. If you pride yourself for years on providing roadside assistance, towing services, etc. you MUST improve in this area. We will likely cancel AAA.

The last battery they gave me is dead after 8 months, there is supposed to be a 3 year warranty. When I called them out to replace it today I get told once the tech arrives the battery must read between 10 and 14 volts to get it for free. I have never heard of that until the guy showed up today. Of course the battery which was absolutely shot only read 3 volts even after being charged at the service shop.
I called AAA customer service and the woman who answered was an idiot and thought that 3 volts was a good reading and I could just have it charged back to full use. They confirmed that someone was on their way, but when I called the person, they told me it was a lie and that they had never been contacted to provide the service. They never arrived, and I had to pay for the tow myself! Don't waste your time and money on this third-world service; they are liars. AAA is the worst company ever! The membership is a rip-off!

Worst customer service and company in general. I purchased AAA roadside assistance 2 years ago. Halfway into the 2nd year, out of nowhere, I received a letter from AAA stating that my membership was being cancelled for "failure to provide verification for all associates on membership." I have no idea what they're talking about. What verification, to whom and when? I've never failed to provide anything that was asked of me, nor would I. To have issues with your vehicle and need tow service is very stressful. To pay for a service and be cancelled for using it or for some frivolous word salad reason adds insult to injury. And if that's not enough, their service is not that great to begin with. 4th of July 2022, they left me stranded overnight because they couldn't even get service to me in Anna, Texas. I only hate I didn't cancel them then. AAA cancelled my membership 1/2 way through, but made no mention of refunding me for the other half of the year.
Based on these facts, I can only conclude that AAA only wants drivers to purchase a membership, but for heaven's sakes, DON'T use it! AAA Roadside is not the company I thought it was and judging by all of the other 1-star reviews, I know that I made a grave error in thinking AAA was a solid company that engaged in fair business practices. I want nothing further to do with this company, roadside assistance or otherwise, except for a refund and to be removed from their junk mail list. How dare they cancel my paid membership but continue to crowd my mailbox with their unwanted junk solicitations. This is yet another indication of the poor management of this company. If you cancel someone, you should have the good sense to at least remove them from your solicitation mailings. Terrible company!

It's a shame to have to put a star in order to leave review. We've had AAA roadside for over 20 years and have only utilized it a handful of times (In other words, they have made a mint off of us). We have used their insurance with no issues in the past and so when we moved to a new state, we thought we would give them a try again. The auto was higher than our current insurance, but the house was less, so it balanced out to a savings. We paid for the year on the house policy and 6 months on the auto (maximum allowed) only to be notified by email about 5 weeks later that our house policy was being terminated because they couldn't get in our gate (I told the agent we had a gate and that I would need advance notice when they were coming, but apparently they came over and never notified me).
I couldn't get a hold of "our" agent, but the one I was able to get in touch with said that she would request a new visit- then the next day, I got another email stating that our policy was cancelled effective in 14 days. Thankfully, we found another company (that actually ended up being less expensive & has a good reputation). So, after 20 plus years of loyalty- we bid you good riddance, AAA.

Completely ridiculous. I had to call 3 times to set up a tow for my vehicle. The operators could not understand I did not have cell service at my vehicle and was calling from a land line, so proceeded to tell me they could not schedule a tow without me being in my vehicle to confirm via my cell phone. It was like talking to a brick wall not hearing anything I was saying. Absolutely no common sense.

Took over 12 hours to come. Every time I would call in I would be placed on hold and phone hangs up. One representative told me it was “in the clause” that it wasn’t a guarantee of when they could get to me. So we pay a membership fee for what? One hour turned into 12. Talked to another rep who told me who he was a supervisor and he would call me back, never received a call. Called back in and asked to speak with him, they informed me he wasn’t a supervisor but put in the notes that he spoke with a supervisor “Logan”. They couldn’t find a Logan that worked for them. The worse customer service I’ve ever experienced in my life.

Have been a AAA Customer for almost a decade and constantly find reasons for why I should cancel my service with them - today was the final straw. 1. When I first subscribed to AAA, I had just moved and one was near my home. It seemed like a good opportunity to sign up just in case I needed a tow or was locked out of my car. I even started taking my vehicle there for service. Unfortunately, I ran into some issues where the mechanics and front desk managers were running up the total and trying to upsell me on services that were not necessary for my vehicles. The final straw for services was two incidents that happened the same week.
I ran into a situation where I dropped off both of my vehicles for service (one for a simple oil change, the other for a more serious issue). I had suspicions that technicians were being a bit sketchy, so I put a sharpie mark on my oil filter before taking my '16 Honda in for the oil change. When I picked that car up, the oil filter had not been changed.
Additionally, my Subaru was there for other mechanical issues. They told me the car would require over $15,000 worth of work for it run safely. I declined the work, called three other mechanics who all quoted the same work for 1/2 of the price. The one I ended up taking the car to even told me that the car only needed 1/3 of the work done in the first place. That was 5 years ago and I am still driving that same Subaru with no issues. After those incidents, I stopped taking my car to them for service.
2. I decided to keep the subscription for the towing. It was minimal and not a big inconvenience. Well I recently had a break down and the AAA customer service and tow truck driver(s) I had the displeasure of working with made the entire situation worse. I tried calling in the past and was told to use their app, so I went through the app and was told my tow truck driver would arrive within 30 minutes. 30 minutes goes by and the app says the driver has arrived, but there was no truck.
I then receive a text from AAA, with a link to their website, saying the driver is en route, 30-40 minutes. No big deal, I was expecting to wait at least an hour anyways. 45 minutes go by and I check the the link again, still says 30-40 minutes. I just figure the app might be broken, the tow truck driver is probably running a bit behind due to traffic or something. Wait another 30 minutes, still says 30-40 minutes. At this point I call AAA Customer Service. I calmly explain the situation and I am told the driver is a bit behind, another hour, they'll be there. I patiently wait another hour, again trying to give some time for traffic, or other issues the driver may be having, they never show up.
At this point, it has been 2 1/2 hours and I call AAA again. I get another customer service rep, who puts me on hold, and tells me the driver is an hour away. I reluctantly accepted this and expressed my frustration with the app, this website link AAA sent me to track my driver, and the unavailability of the truck, are more inconvenience than the subscription is worth. The AAA customer service rep asked me to wait while they tried to find another driver and put me on hold. They pick back up and find another driver who can be there in an 1:30 to 2:00 hours. I am in an unfamiliar area, traveling for work, and don't have a clue who else I could call so I agreed to wait.
I went back inside and finished work for the day and lo and behold, 2 hours later, no one has come to pick up my car. I check the app and the website link for tracking my driver & it now reads "Thank you for working with us". I called back customer service again, asked where the driver was, and another rep told me they are behind it would be another hour. In total I waited nearly 5 hours for a tow that never happened.

Today I called AAA to have my mother's car tire changed due to her tire being flat. They sent the rude and disrespectful guy out. He told me that my mother needed to be present. I said, "She is disabled" and could not come out. It was 90 degrees out. The guy would not even help when many have. He said, "Oh well" and would not for wait for her to come with my daughter. I had to eventually be added to her membership and I asked if I could have a refund due to me having a free promotion through my phone carrier. Once this membership runs out. I will never use AAA AGAIN.
The communication is horrible. I then received a call of them telling me they could not send anyone per management after they took my money. I explained to the girl, "I paid." She says, "Let me check." She checked and said, "My apologies." I waited 2 hrs for service. The way this company works is horrible. Never again! Thankfully people were so kind where I was located. Willing to help. I said, "No, I paid. I want them to fix it."

My truck got stuck on my property and I called AAA to come pull it out of the mud at 1 PM. It is now 9:35 PM and after numerous calls talking to supervisors I have yet to see a tow truck. I had to cancel appointments, miss events and now it is dark and raining. I am going to bed soon and in the morning I will call a tow truck to come and pull it out, then sue AAA for cost and lost time.

Very unhappy with the service! They offer me a good deal to go with them and a year later they double the price for my vehicle policy, then I had full cover on one of my vehicles that someone busted a window to gain access to it, I call them to help me get it replaced, but it was all in vain, they just started giving me too much excuses, a few months later I called them to removed the vehicle from full cover and add another car to the policy, after asking them if my insurance payment was going to stay the same after removing the vehicle from full cover they assured that it would change, that it was going to stay the same, a month later my monthly payment went up another hundred dollars, they deceive and mislead customers, then they asked me to submit the yearly mileage of each vehicle do my discount, after I submitted everything another monthly increase, they are taking advantage and being opportunistic.

AAA provides poor response time for roadside assistance. Called AAA around 1PM, called again at around 2PM, called again around 3PM. Each time I was told response would be within 1 hour. After second call my service was categorized as "Priority", after third call a supervisor was contacted and dispatch was contacted about my two hour wait. A technician messaged me around 3:50PM saying I'm on my way and sent a link to show his progress to me. A "No Caller ID" came in and I picked up just in case it was AAA's technician, it was the technician, why would AAA call a service customer with a "No Caller ID" call? Terrible response time.

Unfortunately, what used to be a good company with reliable service is close to "no service at all". Last summer we called when our battery died. We were told that they couldn't service us because we were presently in Mass. and we lived in CT???? Today the battery died on our second car. The battery is 4 years old. I told them I needed the battery checked and replaced if necessary, and that a jump start wouldn't help me. The call person replied, "No problem - will have someone there within the hour to check and replace the battery."
An hour later an automated robot called to tell us that a person to jump the car was on the way but that they could not check or replace the battery. It also told us we had to put in a second service call the next morning to see if we could possibly be accommodated. We have been members for 30 years now but every time we call it's a runaround and we either have to fix it ourselves or call someone else to fix or tow the car. Am I just being a fool by staying with them?

As of this review I'm still on the side of the road waiting for a tow. It's been 8 hours. No food or water. 8 miles from the nearest town. Madison WI is a city of a quarter of a million people that is only 35 miles from me, and AAA still can't find a company to tow me? They call every few hours to say they're not sure when they'll be able to have anyone come out. It was FIVE hours before they even suggested finding my own tow and having them reimburse me. Wish they would have told me that at 7:55pm when I first called.... Not sure what AAA roadside assistance even means. If it was winter I'd probably be dead already.

My vehicle's serpentine belt broke while across town. I was still able to make it within 3 blocks of my house, when my vehicle stopped working. I used AAA app and ordered a tow truck to take it to my mechanic. I was kept updated via text on where I was in the queue, who my driver was, and when he’d arrive. It did take approximately 2 1/2 to 3 hours, which was fine with me, because I was able to be in the comfort of my own home while I waited.
The reason it took so long is because the night before we had a massive hail storm (golf ball to baseball-sized hail) and thousands of people had their vehicles towed. The tow truck driver Manuel was amazing! He called when he was on his way, he explained everything thoroughly, he had my vehicle hooked up within minutes, and sent pictures when he dropped it off. I would definitely recommend AAA to my family and friends!

Beware, AAA will happily take your money annually for a Premium Plan and NOT provide service when it is needed most. Further, each and every customer service representative and supervisor told me whatever came into their minds without a care for the truth simply to get me off the phone. I have been sitting on the side of a dangerous road for SEVEN (7) HOURS, YES 7-HOURS! Each person I spoke with told me to expect a tow truck within 20-min, then 90-min from 4:50 pm until 11:30 pm. And every time those hours passed, I was told they were working on getting someone out to assist me, that they only had 2 companies they worked with in my area and neither of those companies were available, but they would escalate the order and try to find someone else outside my area. Or, I could call a tow company myself, pay the fee and submit a receipt for reimbursement.
BTW, NOT FULL reimbursement, just partial based on some mysterious figure that AAA refused to provide when repeatedly asked. Now I'm being given an appointment with a different tow company for tomorrow at 8:30 am; however, that company is open 24-hrs, and they begin their mornings at 7:00 am. Triple AAA is very unprofessional and has no problem lying to its paying customers!

I really am disappointed in this company. Yesterday my car died, a guy came out, told me that the battery was good and the alternator was good. Charged it and said I would be good to go. I get to work just fine and the car starts just fine as well after work. About three mins into my drive home my car starts to die. I barely get it off the highway. And then after calling 4 times, and 3 hrs has gone by on a dangerous road shoulder. Someone finally shows up. I watched 5 empty AAA tow trucks go by. But I was classified as an "emergency" my **. I have been a member for years....and would give a zero if I could.
