Waste of money! First, left my son, who is in the coast Guard, stranded in Mississippi saying he had exceeded his calls for service (this was only his 3rd time). Then, we broke down in town and waited for 3 hours all the while being told that there were not any providers near us. Finally, we called a tow truck company and he came right away. We told him that we were Triple AAA subscribers and the story. He told us he was a Triple AAA provider and had not received a call. Why pay Triple AAA if I have to pay tow truck drivers anyway!!!!

I wish I could give -100 stars. I have been a AAA member for several consecutive years, and they have never actually solved a single problem for me. Today was officially the worst experience yet. Their automated system is broken, and every single communication you receive is from a useless robot. On 01/30/2026, I called for roadside assistance at 6:55 PM. My first ETA was 7:06 PM. Then it changed to 7:37 PM, and then to 8:00 PM. Right as 8:00 PM approached, I received a message stating there was a delay and they didn't even have a driver available.
This company plays with people’s time and safety. As a young woman stranded alone with no one else to call, I was counting on the service I pay for, only to be completely abandoned. It is unfair and predatory to take people's money for a "membership" that provides zero help when you are vulnerable. Thankfully, I remembered I had roadside assistance through my car insurance, and they solved everything immediately. TO ANYONE CONSIDERING AAA: PLEASE DO NOT DO IT. Unless you want to wait 24 hours for help that might never arrive, save your money. Add roadside assistance to your insurance policy instead; you’ll be much better off. AAA lacks professionalism, empathy, and respect for its members. They are completely useless.

I am a home healthcare nurse and I went to pull in the driveway of my client, I slid and was unable to move my car partially in the roadway partially in a ravine. I called AAA. They told me they couldn't help me get it out of the ravine. I have been a member for several years and only used them 1 other time in which they left my car along side the Rd with a bad fuel pump for 3 days. When they finally towed it the driver had the keys and still unhooked the linkage and did damage. This is awful service and I will not renew my membership that ends in February. Why have something that you cannot use? It's a waste of money. I would rather pay my insurance $6 a month ($72 a year) for service that can actually help me. Now I'm stuck not being able to leave this home. 4 other clients waiting and no way to get out. Although they told me to buy a bag of salt and wait for it to melt in 15 degree weather.

As some others have already stated, AAA refused to tow my daughter's car (part of my family membership) for than 25 miles even though I paid a premium for the Plus service which covers 100 miles (distance needed for tow is 49 miles). I spent an hour on the phone with a supervisor in Member Resolution department and she was no help whatsoever. She said if there is a weather alert (which has been in place over a week) it is company policy to abide by that (which arbitrarily limits tow distance to 25 miles). The weather here is perfect today (blue skies and sunny) but logic apparently does not play any role here. I asked about credit to my account for lack of paid service and was told to pound sand. Only option is to not renew the membership when it expires. I have been a member for over 45 years and evil and greedy AAA could care less. I would give a negative 5 stars if I could but am limited to 1 star.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Amazing Service from Freddy. I was already stressed dealing with a tire issue when Freddy showed up, and he immediately made me feel better. He was on time, super kind, and very professional. He fixed my tire quickly, then took the extra time to check all of my other tires. He noticed one had a bump and told me I should get it replaced soon, filled all my tires with air, and even showed me the sticker in my car with the right tire size. He also gave me helpful advice on where to go and what options to look at.
What I appreciated most was how patient and genuine he was. He explained everything in a way that was easy to understand and never made me feel rushed or uncomfortable. As a woman dealing with car issues alone, that really meant a lot to me and made me feel safe. Freddy truly went above and beyond, and I’m so grateful for his help. AAA is lucky to have him!

Called AAA for a Towing and spoke with the Clerk and was told that it would be 2 to 2.5 hrs before they could get to me. 2 hrs later called back and was told that they were still looking for someone to come out. I called back a third time and was told that they only have one trunk in the Atlanta area. I called a tow company in the area, and they came within 30 min. When they came, the tow truck driver said that AAA uses more truck drivers in the area, but that they are treated so bad that they don't want to work for them. I think if you have an account with AAA, you need to cancel it ASAP. They say AAA gives you peace of mind, but it's more like they take your money and leave you waiting for service.

Writing this review about my experience with AAA roadside assistance on 1/28/26 - I’m extremely disappointed. I submitted a roadside assistance request at 3:00 PM through the AAA app, since the phone system explicitly says using the app is faster. The app provided an ETA countdown timer which I used to time my Uber to arrive at the parking garage where my car died so I could meet the technician. By 4:30 PM, no one had arrived. When I called AAA, I was told the ETA shown in the app has been broken and is inaccurate (incredibly misleading!). She said the actual ETA was 4:30–6:30 PM and that I would receive a tracking link when the technician was on the way. That link never came.
At 6:30 PM, I called again and spoke to the most unhelpful customer service rep I’ve ever dealt with. Every question I asked was met with the same robotic response: “You’ll receive a link when the technician is on the way.” No updates. No accountability. No attempt to help. It is now 9:30 PM (over 6 hours after my initial request) and no technician was ever on route. Because of AAA’s failure to follow through, my car is now stuck in a parking garage overnight, costing me additional fees that I should not be responsible for. I understand high call volumes and delays happen but this level of poor communication, broken technology, and useless customer service is unacceptable. When you pay for a service that’s meant to help in stressful situations, the bare minimum expectation is transparency, reliability, and basic human support. Extremely disappointed, and seriously reconsidering my membership after this experience.

Called AAA three separate times for a dead battery. First two service guys show up with an inadequate jump box that does nothing. They both say it must be something major. Third time I called for a tow to dealership. Third service guy tries a few things, including the jump box, but has a can do attitude. Also doesn't have to tow the car if he can get it running. He hooks the cables to his truck and voila the car starts no problem. Seems the first two service guys that showed up obviously had no idea what they are doing. Why they didn’t try the cables I don’t know but it’s ridiculous that I’m responsible for the calls. Like calling someone to mow your lawn and they show up with rusty scissors that don’t do the job. BUT - They charge you anyway because they showed up.

We hit a deer on StRt30W in Ohio and called AAA at 930am for a tow truck. They would be there by 11am. At 11:15 I call back. Now it'll be 3pm. They told me to go shopping for a while. What? I canceled AAA request and called another tow truck that was there in less than 10 mins. While waiting on the tow truck the original tow truck guy called me to make sure I had canceled my request. I told him the situation and when I told him I called it in at 930am he said, "I know. I see that" and I just now received the call. Someone dropped the ball.

I called AAA to get a battery replacement and waited over an hour and a half only to be told by Donovan C from Marc’s Auto that he didn’t have a battery and was only there to give me a jump (which I had already received from a coworker). He rudely told me that they were not doing batteries that night due to weather, safety and the time of day. I told him AAA assured me he was going to have a battery. His response was, "Well it is a safety issue due to weather" and then proceeded to get back in his vehicle and leave. I immediately called AAA to explain the situation and also to make sure that this would not count as a service call. I was told to call tomorrow to find out if they considered it a service call and was told how sorry they were, to be safe and have a good night. The misinformation each call is considered a customer's fault. What a shame!

I signed up for AAA last year and it's been horrible. When I did use them, I sat 5 hours for a truck the second time and there was no bad weather. The tow truck company here is awesome. It was AAA they transfer you from place to place, reps struggled with location because on one occasion they sent my call to Cali and a driver in California was looking for me. I told them OHIO!! I waited for almost 5 hours alongside the road broken down. They are not dependable. I spoke to so many people in dispatch, people saying they can't help me, "Let me transfer you" (cold drop the call transfers). Had to reexplain while I'm in the elements. They have a horrid new system! No snow or ice. Just raining.
My most recent experience a phone call from a retention sales rep stating we can add someone for FREE and I won't be for 1 whole year so I would be charged next year! I restated 1 whole year. She said YES. I just got a bill for 238.00 bucks. No thank you AAA!!! I have no respect for lying sales reps. Furthermore, I checked online and they charge you 20.00 for enrollment fee?? Why would you charge an ENROLLMENT fee. The fee is the fee but when you say enrollment fee it appears you're adding a RIP-OFF CHARGE. This is bs and I will be calling to find out who it was that lied so we can all address the issue. Sales and marketing needs to appear that you're NOT doing these tactics to sell. I paid 53.00 the first year. Now you want 238.00. I can add this for CHEAP to my insurance.
AAA has gone downhill with customer service. When you call that rep should handle the call is not saying, "Oh, I can't help you. You're not in our club." SERIOUSLY? I AM IN YOUR AAA CLUB. They should be trained to not be letting stranded drivers go thru this mess they created. They used to be the best then changed the way calls are routed. Check into your insurance before you go down this long road to nowhere!! So, since you ADD on bogus charges like an enrollment fee you need to put that on the upfront price. You're selling based on one price then add addt'l price and this is not being upfront. All in all, not good to lie to customers or keep them waiting playing phone games. The reps did not care I was broke down. Zero empathy.

It is very disheartening to see how poor the service, communication and effort has become with Triple A. We have been customers for about 20 years and are now to the point that we will find a replacement for this inferior service. Apparently they believe computer generated automation is better than answering the phone and actually speaking with the customer. I look forward to the day when this company goes out of business. With the type of support they provide, that should not be too long in the future.

If I could give Triple A no stars, I would. Someone I am currently on the phone with has been sitting on the road in Virginia for the past 5.5 hours. They have tried calling Triple A and was told they have to wait 30 mins. They'd call again after 30 minutes was up dispatcher would change time to 45 minutes, then to 1 hour, and then later to an hour and half. At one point, the dispatcher stated that someone was finishing up helping someone else and would be on his way immediately. Then somehow they said that my friend would actually be next because they went to go help someone else. This is unacceptable and unprofessional. Y'all have been absolutely dishonest, unreliable, and wasting people's time. I understand your attention is needed a lot during this weather. However, lying about the time creates anxiety. DO better. I hope they don't have to stay for much longer. They are currently still waiting.

I purchased an AAA Plus membership for peace of mind, believing that if my vehicle ever broke down, AAA would be there to help—no hassle, no excuses. Today proved that belief wrong. My vehicle broke down on the side of the road, and when I contacted AAA, I was shocked by the response. Despite paying for a Plus membership that clearly includes up to three 100-mile tows per year, I was told that due to “high customer volume,” towing was suddenly restricted to only 25 miles. There was no warning, no prior notice, and no explanation of when—or if—this restriction would be lifted.
The tow I needed was only 30.4 miles. AAA flat-out refused to tow my vehicle the full distance and offered no real solution other than scheduling a 25-mile tow, which did absolutely nothing to solve my problem. On top of that, they couldn’t even tell me when they would be able to return to retrieve my vehicle if I waited for the so-called “restriction” to be lifted. I was essentially left stranded with a broken-down car and zero peace of mind.
This experience completely defeated the purpose of paying for roadside assistance. When you’re stuck on the side of the road—stressed and vulnerable—the last thing you expect is for a company you pay for “coverage” to suddenly change the rules and refuse to honor the roadside assistance plan you purchased and agreed to. AAA failed when it mattered most. If they can ignore the benefits you pay for and offer no meaningful help in an emergency, then the service is not worth it. I would absolutely not recommend AAA to anyone.

The tow truck driver called and was very aggressive from the beginning. He asked if the car was registered and was told yes. He then asked what was wrong, I explained that the car wouldn’t start but that my husband would know more and could explain when he got there as he was the one meeting him. He did not like that answer and immediately said no that he wasn’t doing it. I said that my husband was also on the account as the membership was under his name. He said he would call corporate and hung up on me. He called back three minutes later and said that there was a note from corporate specifically stating if it I wasn’t there he couldn’t touch the car. He also said that he would verify the plates were valid and if not he wasn’t touching it, I told him it was asinine and he said that my husband didn’t have a membership and he was going to cancel the call.
I told him I was done speaking with him as it sounded like he just didn’t want to do the job and I would call and speak with corporate myself. He continued yelling saying he was going to cancel the call, I told him if he did i would be filing a complaint. He continued to yell so I ended the call. He called back and the call was ignored. I’ve been a member for nearly 8 years now and I cannot believe this gentleman talked to my wife that way after this I believe we’re going to sever our business relationship.

Absolutely horrible, undependable company to deal with. Twice I needed them, twice they failed miserably, and offered no route to escalate. Last year stranded in a town 20 miles away. First tow truck came in 90 minutes, did not have properly equipped truck because they ignored my description of how car was oriented in parking lot, so they did not have required dollies for front wheel drive. Second truck came 2 hours later, called when they were supposedly there (they had my plate no. and vehicle description), but in fact they were on the other side of a huge parking lot, nowhere near my car. I called the driver back immediately, he didn't answer, and as I walked towards where he was. He just drove away. Finally, a third truck came, and when all was said and done, I didn't get home for over eight (8) hours after the whole fiasco started.
Today, ordered service to replace car battery in vehicle at home. Online, they showed they had the correct battery for my vehicle, on sale for that matter, and gave a price of $215.99, so I placed the order. The technician arrives, and doesn't have the correct battery. It turns out, they were not just out of stock, but they don't even carry my battery. On top of that, he didn't have the correct work order. It just said he was being sent out to test the battery. Saw it with my own eyes. I placed the order online, so it was in writing as well, not subject to an oral misinterpretation. And the customer service people are totally ambivalent to your plight. Would love to hear that they went bankrupt.

AAA is great to have for towing, but do NOT buy batteries from them! I purchased a battery from AAA in 2022 in California. Our battery went T.U. while on a road trip. It was more expensive than Orielly's, but I figured it would be worth it to have nationwide coverage that comes to you, boy was I wrong. Just over a year later the AAA battery died, no biggie I thought, call AAA. They come warranty it, done, luckily it died in my driveway. The guy shows up, tests the battery, says, "Yes it's bad," but they can't any proof that I purchased this battery from AAA, luckily I kept the carbon copy receipt I was originally given. After some back and forth they replaced the battery, but made me wait 4 days before a replacement battery became available. I had other cars to drive, so no big deal, just a minor inconvenience.
Now the replacement battery is dead, 6 months left of warranty. It died 12/26/25, we had a trip planned that weekend and needed this vehicle. I called AAA. Explained the entire situation, the guy set me up for a jump start, when the tow company called me they were like "well this call was set up wrong, you have to call AAA again." This happened 3 times, 3 service calls set up and cancelled. They finally told me they do not have any "battery technicians" available until 1/5/26. I was like, "Well I need a battery now, so can you just go out of contract and replace it or I'll replace it and you reimburse me," they said no to the out of contract, but agreed I could be reimbursed. I ended up having to pay over $300 for a battery and $300 for a service call.
AAA then tried to deny my reimbursement, kept making excuses, then said they couldn't prove the battery was a AAA battery. I told them, "It shows up on my AAA account, and I have the battery still. You can send a "battery tech" out to see it," LOL. They did end up giving and agreed to refund me $219. So I am out $400+ because AAA refused to do their job and take care of the customer. Never buying a AAA battery again!

I have been a AAA member consistently for 17 years. I've had to use the only 3 times in the past 3 years, flat tires and vehicle lockout. In the past 3 years when I called for assistance each time was a no show. First time blew 2 tires on my RV and sat for nearly 8 hours before a passer-by stopped and helped. AAA never showed even after calling them several times. Second time vehicle disabled... no show, again waited several hours on side of interstate. I had to call on my own a tow service that didn't accept AAA. Third time vehicle lockout.... no call after 5 hours. I called a locksmith who was there in 35 minutes.
I recently called AAA to determine why I should renew my roadside assistance with them (AAA). The individual with whom I spoke with. "Jasmina" stated only recorded of a call was the lockout but that "the driver showed and no one was there" which is impossible as this was my residence. The driver was a flat out liar and customer service with AAA is less than helpful. Save your money and avoid the aggravation.

I pay for the premium membership. My son who is on my AAA policy slide off the road coming around a snowy and black ice corner and damaged the axle on my truck. We called AAA and was told a tow was on the way. 2 hrs later nothing. So I called back and the operator said, "Sorry the tow company canceled and a text was sent. No text was sent. So I asked, "Did you call another company." Operator said, "No would you like us to." I said, "Yes, I figured you would have done that. In the first place." Another hour later, I get a text, saying that the tow truck canceled again. So I called back and spoke to a second a third operator who then told me that they don't have trucks. Available in my location. Mind you, I'm in Nashville, New Hampshire, right? Near Manchester two of the largest cities around.
I then questioned. "Are you not supposed to have twenty four hour tow services? Available through Triple-A through your tow providers." She then replied that a lot of companies close early. Now, after covid and that the other companies are not picking up. That she's not going to be able to provide a tow truck for me tonight. The best she could do would be early. The next morning. Mind you my vehicle is stuck on the side of the road at this point. She then proceeds to say, "Well, you can call your own tow truck. And we may reimburse you."
What is the point of paying for AAA if I have to call for my own service. At this point I would never recommend Triple-A to anybody. Their customer service has gone way downhill and for the amount of times that you get towed, you better off just dealing with it on your own. Instead of paying they're yearly joke of insurance! AAA is a scam disguised as a safety service. AAA takes your money every year and disappears the moment you actually need help. I was stranded, vulnerable, and relying on the service I PAID FOR — and AAA did absolutely nothing. Endless wait times, fake ETAs, zero communication, zero urgency, zero accountability. This is not roadside assistance. This is a subscription to false hope. Watching the clock tick while AAA does nothing is infuriating and honestly unsafe. They sell “peace of mind” but deliver stress, frustration, and abandonment. If your car breaks down, AAA will break your trust. If you’re in a real situation, don’t expect help — expect excuses. Save your money. Cancel your membership. Call anyone else.

AAA not what it used to be. I just drove 4 hours round trip to pick up my husband last night that broke down on I-20. They say they are 24//7. He never got a human being. Just a AI voice answering him saying it sounded like he needed roadside assistance and sending him a LINK to add his location. He did this several times and the response was that it needed more information. Oddly enough, his 65 year old wife found him easily. He called a local mechanic near him who said he didn't know anyone for atleast 30 miles (in the direction away from us that worked with aaa). So at the end of the day. We didn't get any service nor discount from aaa.
Basically I didn't get anything for my membership. Not sure what happened to aaa. Going to check with my insurance company today about finding out if that have road service and add it to my plan. AAA charged me over $300 for a diagnostic; told me they had no idea what was wrong and to take it to the dealership. Chevrolet dealership ran a diagnostic and said it was the battery. The dealership replaced the battery (total ~$300) and my car is fine. I was initially impressed with how quickly things were moving, but that was the quickest things ever were. This incident happened in August and by January of the next year, things still had not been resolved, even though it was clear their client was at fault.
I reached out frequently and was told they were waiting on this or that and that the adjuster would reach out to me by a specific date. I was told this multiple times. She never reached back out to me. I even called her supervisor; no answer, left a voicemail, and never received a return call. This is THE WORST company to get insurance with. Don't doit!!! For homeowners' insurance, they overvaluated my property so they could charge me the highest possible premium. Then they increased my yearly premium by several hundred each year and claimed my property costs more to rebuild than it did last year. My house is appraised for $360K at the highest, but AAA says it cost $430k to rebuild, and I am not in a declining market. I work with homeowners' insurance every day for my job, so I have seen premiums for other companies in my area.
Last June, I had a new roof put on my home with a promise this will lower my insurance and I will get a small refund. I get the roof done and send the invoice the ** roofers give me. I make follow-up calls every month for 6 months asking about my rebate, until I finally get upset and ask for a manager. Only to find out "our underwriters are not accepting your invoice." Six months to find this out. So, I do my best to get another invoice, and after weeks of hounding the roofers, I get another invoice, and yes, you guessed it...AAA did not accept that invoice either. All of this over $400 rebate. I would give 0 stars if possible, AAA is over-rated and only good for getting keys out of your car or changing a battery. My daughter ended up going to the repair shop where she then noticed that all of the lights were on, check engine and airbags. So now her car won't go into gear. And to add insult to injury AAA wanted us to pay for towing stating that they couldn't tow from a location where they had dropped off. This review is for AAA as a whole and not a specific location. I bought AAA specifically for the purpose of making a trip across the United States with my small 5 x 8 trailer. I bought the most expensive policy - AAA Plus. It costed around $200. While going across country, one of the lights on my dashboard came on. I looked in my car book and it said do not drive the car. I was only about 20 miles from the next small town, but I stopped and called AAA expecting help.
When they found out I had a trailer, they said they could not help me. They could tow my car, but they could not tow my trailer. They expected me to leave my trailer with all my belongings in it by the side of the road. Or I could pay them to tow my trailer. They told me that there was no one in that small town 20 miles ahead of me that could tow my trailer. They said I had to wait for someone from a hundred miles away to come to my location and tow my trailer and I had to pay for it. I sat there for 4 hours in the blazing sun while someone from a hundred miles behind where I had just come from drove to my location.
When the tow guy got there, I asked him why somebody from the town 20 miles up the road couldn't come and tow me. He said he did not know why they sent him from so far away, because there were at least three tow services from the town 20 miles away that could have towed me. He hooked everything up and we drove 20 miles up the road. I had to pay him a hookup fee and a per mile charge for towing my 5 x 8 trailer 20 miles. This amounted to over $200.00 - after waiting over four hours for him to get there. He unhooked my trailer at a motel there. Then the driver took my car and dropped it off at the mechanic that AAA had told him to drop it at. AAA told me that they notified that mechanic that I was coming and they chose that shop because he had time to see me.
The next day, I had to walk (no taxis in this tiny town) at least a mile to the mechanic and got in my car so I could sit down and wait. The mechanic was late. I got on the phone and called him. He said he was somewhere else in another town and would be there in about a half an hour. When he finally got there, I told him what AAA had said. He said AAA never called him, he had no idea who I was and could not work on my car for at least a week. He was very mean and rude. I asked him if he could just please look at the warning light that I was talking about on the car and tell me what it was. I put the key in the car and the warning light did not come on. He said, "Well, I don't see anything, so there's nothing wrong."
I got in the car and drove away. I went back to the motel and tried to hook my trailer up and I could not. I pulled two guys out of the parking lot to see if they could help me hook the trailer up. One of the guys was so strong he lifted the trailer a bit and then it was able to go onto the hitch. The trailer jack that I had bought for the purpose of me being able to hook the trailer on and off myself proved to be worthless unless the trailer and car were on completely flat ground.
When I got to my final destination, I went into a AAA office and talked to a manager about this incident. I feel as though I should be reimbursed for AAA having forced me to pay for my own towing. They also sent me to a mechanic who had no idea I was coming and did not have time to work on my car for a week. They refused to reimburse me. They said their towing packages only apply to cars. I told them that when I initially bought my AAA Plus membership, I told the person exactly what I was going to do with it, and she never mentioned that trailers were not covered. AAA told me they would not compensate me for refusing to pay trailer towing fees.
What they would happily do for me though is give me a $50 credit off my membership for next year. So their solution to this issue is ME giving them another $150 of my money instead of $200 for their worthless towing package. Really nothing out of their pocket to solve the problem! AAA packages are WORTHLESS. I will stick with the towing policy that comes with my regular car insurance. It is only about $35 and also comes with a free rental car if yours is in the shop.

I then emailed them twice again about this and they told me they would get back to me, which they never did. Now, it's over six months and they never got back to me. I imagine this has something to do with not being held liable if it is longer than a year. This would explain why they ignore my emails. One member did reply and they told me they were waiting, but they never got back to me.
I assume there is a lot of loopholes where companies can get away with paying back customers, such as how long ago it was. Regardless, they never got back to me with any explanation. I have had AAA Premium for years several years. I have used it for flat tire, tow, jump start for just a few. On 11/3/2025 my car broke down on the FL turnpike while traveling to the airport to pick up my 90 yr old friend who is in a wheelchair. My alternator was bad as well as my battery. I called for roadside assistance, of course getting the chatbot. Finally getting a human I informed her of my situation and request a tow to the dealership that had recently worked on the car. (60 miles one-way). This was covered mileage under my “Premium” Membership. I was told 2.5 hours before they could get me towed. After explaining my situation I was told that AAA only had 5 tow trucks on the road providing assistance for the Entire Orlando area.
After 2.5 hours had passed I followed up with dispatch and was then told 3.5 hours to get towed. Not being in an area where I could get to a rest room, I had to request assistance from the road ranger. That took an hour. Upon returning to my vehicle after a trip w/ road ranger, in the road ranger truck, (5:00 pm) AAA again contacted me to tell me that AAA was refusing to tow my vehicle. When I asked why I was told the tow truck drivers were refusing because of the mileage.
It was suggested that I leave my vehicle at the side of the road and return the next day. Road Ranger informed me that it would probably get towed by FDOT and that it could take a long time to find where it was towed to. I was then told to find an independent tow company to tow my vehicle and AAA would reimburse me the cost. I had no knowledge of a tow company in that area. She told me to call Road ranger back to find a tow company. They had a tow truck to my vehicle in 1 hour. While waiting for the tow truck I again called AAA and informed them that I am an elderly woman, alone at the side of the turnpike and it is dark and AAA was now putting my life in danger. She called me back 5 minutes later to tell me they would get assistance to me in an hour. I had already arranged for the other tow company to get my car.
This is now 7.5 hours after my original request for assistance that AAA left me stranded on the turnpike. My friend waited in her wheelchair for 5 hours and then had to get a shuttle to her home. My total out of pocket expenses (tow, Uber home, rental car to get back to Orlando, uber from the airport after turning in the rental) $436.00. Please know that AAA does not stand behind their contract for Roadside assistance! I am waiting for the second reimbursement request for the extra expenses incurred because AAA refused my request for a tow.

Called them and ask for a supervisor on this matter, explained to them my heart issue & other health related issues and my body goes into shock if I get too cold. I would told, we're sorry but the tow driver had a "priority roadside emergency call" & that's what put you on another delay. So a person's heart possibly stopping & dying apparently isn't a PRIORITY.
When the driver finally arrives, he was so sorry, and stated he was the only driver working for the company AAA has contracted with & other companies in our town. The driver also stated, the owner has a total of 3 tow drivers, but the other 2 won't work weekends. This issue needs addressed why AAA would contract with a towing company with 1 driver working!!!! The AAA driver came with an old fashion J-hook tow truck and two dollies. He placed the dollies and tow hook like a surgeon. Dean was a savior getting it out and then he says I think I can get the shifter back in place. This man was amazing and went way out of his way to help me. He popped the linkage back on and away I went. There are still good people who love their job and are expert at it! Dean you are amazing... AAA is blessed to have you! Thank you all involved. AAA insurance knowledge put my wife and I in jeopardy! I "had" auto insurance through AAA. They would receive payment monthly through auto pay from my bank. For some reason that my bank can not confirm, my payment did not go through. Again, my bank has not record of this issue. We'll, AAA just went and canceled my insurance and sent a notification through the app. THAT'S IT. Through the app the I guess I should have been looking at daily. I found out because I got a letter stating my license will be suspended for driving without insurance. They send my 20 pieces of junk mail a month and 30 emails to sell me stuff, but they couldn't be bothered to let me know a payment did not go through and I was driving without insurance. AAA is an embarrassment. Do yourself a favor and go with a company that cares about their customers. Not AAA.

I have been a long time customer of AAA. Today I brought my car into the Timonium MD location for service. I was charged almost $200 ($174) just for them to provide a diagnostic check (that literally took less than 20 minutes). My heat wasn't working and they charged me this amount to tell me that HVAC Blower motor was not working. My relationship with AAA ---is my car service provider----has officially ended today! I will not be coming back for service. This is an example of a company taking complete advantage of its customer. I wish I had asked about the diagnostic fee in advance... I was looking to leave a review on our most recent AAA experience. We were so impressed by our tow truck driver, Cordero **, who works as a towing specialist for the actual AAA company, here in the Orlando/Apopka/Central Florida region. We were so impressed by his professionalism, his kindness, his knowledge, and his fantastic attitude. He really went above and beyond for us. He called us personally with an eta, the first thing he asked was about our safety. Then he arrived a little earlier than expected, with a couple of ice cold waters for us. He made us feel at ease, and lightened up the mood with his words of kindness, and then proceeded to get right to work.
After getting our vehicle hooked up, he started out to the pre planned address, and arrived at that location quickly and safely. He really took those extra steps to show concern and kindness- Mr. ** is a man of great character and integrity, and we believe that AAA is blessed to have him on staff. It’s not every day that you come into contact with someone who really is respectful and thoughtful, who portrayed such a great attitude, with old school customer service and communication skills. This guy deserves recognition; we believe that to the extent that we have hunted down where we can leave a review for him and the service he provided. He really does a stellar job, representing AAA, giving you a great name. You all earned a solid 5 star review, and it really is thanks to Cordero **. We hope that he is in the very least recognized for the way he carries himself and the AAA name he works for.

I called a week later to have them tow it to my mechanic. Being Basic, I am only covered for 7 miles, my mechanic is 16 - but they said it was a 22 mile tow and I would have to pay over $107 for the tow. The people answering the phones after long holds were robots and kept passing me along. Stick with the tow coverage on your auto insurance. AAA used to be good - but no longer. I let them tell my car approximately 50 miles and the tow truck driver stole everything out of it and they said it was my word against his and did it help me in any way, shape or form, this time I put a request in at 10:26 p.m. and didn't get assistance until 2:00 a.m. and had to stand out in the cold and walk down the sidewalk in the dark and ended up hurting myself, tripping on the sidewalk and falling down in the dark and I actually need help with my medical injuries which they said they were going to at first but now they closed my ticket. Said, "We're sorry, have a nice day." Basically hope that we see you at renewal, so obviously they don't care about customer satisfaction at all, and waiting in 50° weather, pitch black at night on the side of the road as a single woman was not great.

Couldn't be more disappointed with the service that I have received as a member. I have had several bad experiences with AAA- but this last one takes the cake. I called to have someone come jump my car, unlock it and put air in my tire. I stated three different times on the phone that these were the three things I needed. I also asked one final time before we hung up to ensure the person came with the ability to do all three. She said yes, the fee would be $125 and I said "for all three things?" and she said "yes" - Before the tech arrived I was able to actually get the car open so I told him that wasn't needed anymore and he didn't say anything - then I said so all we need to do is the air and the jumping - he said he was not told about the tire needing air and he can only do the jump.
Then he said "his machine broke this morning anyway". He did jump my car which was great, but I was still worried about driving on this flat tire. He said "just go to a gas station, you'll be okay" and I said "yeah but I paid to have both tasks completed"- he said nothing, detached his jumper box, said "you're all set" then left. I drove very slow on the flat tire, on my way to the gas station I called AAA back and told them that half the job was completed so I asked for a partial refund. I was forwarded to another department, don't remember the name.
When they sent me to the new department I was told that I had requested three services, and that's not how it works. That the tech is sent with one task at hand and a tech that is sent for a battery jump is not expected to have equipment to fill a tire or replace a tire. I said that I understood what she was saying, however, that was never explained to me. She said she was sorry and that she will talk to her team. I said I would have had a friend jump my car instead of paying $125 for a jump, my true concern was driving on the flat tire. That's the only reason I was willing to pay that amount anyway. Not just pay $125 for a jump.
She said she understood, however the tech completed the service requested of me and I said he completed HALF the service, and she told me that a battery jump is a full service and I said AGAIN that I understand but that was never explained to me. That's why I followed through with the AAA request because everything I asked for I was told could be done. Then I said fine, please transfer me to the department to cancel my membership. She said Not a problem, she could do it right there.
Truthfully I was not interested in speaking with her anymore so I hung up and called back and canceled with a different person. While canceling, they don't ask why, don't ask about your experience. Nothing. The lack of concern, customer care, the lack of clarity, the lack of empathy, the lack of remorse for misinformation. Everything was just a let down, start to finish. Like I said this was my final straw, I have had several other bad experiences but never felt like bringing them up because it just wasn't worth it, but this was just too much. I have canceled my membership. I will not be using them again. Being a member is pointless, the staff doesn't even know their own policies, just wait until the call is completed, take the money and then tell you to kick rocks. 2/10 Rating.

I am a former AAA employee (Safety Director/Nebraska AAA 1979-82) and long-term member. Until my godawful experience with the new automated emergency road service last week, I have had nothing bad to say about AAA. I called AAA to tow my Ford F-150 five blocks to have the fuel pump replaced. The automated system sent me a text to provide specifics re my issue. I sent the text and waited for a response.
Long story short---I'm still waiting days later. I tried calling the main office in Omaha to speak to someone and found myself back in the automated matrix. Sent another text. Same result. Hours later a neighbor hooked a chain to my truck and towed me to the repair shop. To add insult to injury, I had just paid $161 to continue my AAA membership with the 100-mile towing option. I'm sure AAA is full of quality employees who know that satisfied customers are the key to AAA's future, but I know that I could have found myself stranded in a blizzard miles from home and gotten the same result I got last week. Which is absolutely nothing. I'll make other towing arrangements and AAA can keep my $161.

Sitting on the side of the road for that long—especially in unsafe areas—is frustrating and unacceptable. On top of that, the customer service is unhelpful and dismissive. Agents rarely give accurate updates, and I’m often told “someone is on the way” only to keep waiting with no real timeline. When I called back for updates, I was transferred around or spoken to with attitude instead of empathy. The first notification I received from the tow servicer was that the request had been canceled. Called AAA and was given multiple different reasons on why it was canceled. At this point, the sun was setting, temperatures were dropping further, my cellphone battery was quickly dying (due to waiting for that phone call away from my vehicle where I could charge it), and I was told AAA could not help me.
I had to call 911 which put me in contact with another tow servicer that was able to assist my vehicle out. No winch needed, just a couple of boards and a shovel for my Honda Civic to drive out of where it was stuck on the road. Attempting to utilize my AAA membership took me from an unfortunate situation to an unsafe emergency. I was significantly worse off trying to utilize AAA than I would have been calling a local tow service myself.
2) Persistent communication and customer-service difficulties. While stranded, every time I called AAA, I spoke to a different person and had to re-explain my situation. This continued throughout all my experiences calling AAA. I also frequently experienced the interruption by some loud machine saying AAA is recording this phone call.
After the incident, I called to complain about my experience and was educated on the process to pursue reimbursement for the costs of the independent tow company. The only way to request this was by a AAA form (which I also had to call again because the form sent to me had parts that looked like a jumbled mess of random characters from poor formatting). This AAA form must be faxed to the company or mailed. No option of an online portal to upload or email. They did offer for me to go to a AAA office for them to fax them, which the closest office was over an hour away. I faxed the appropriate information. AAA responded 3-4 weeks later denying the reimbursement claim.
I called to cancel my membership, because although I easily signed-up for the membership online, I discovered a phone call must be performed to cancel. I wished to speak with someone about next steps about my reimbursement claim and if there were none to cancel the membership. I experienced: over an hour of speaking with 9-10 different contact points re-explaining my situation; being transferred to either the wrong department or to a generic phone tree multiple times or finally landing on a voicemail; having to hang up and call the general cancellation number multiple times until I was able to speak with the correct person/s. Ultimately, I was told that my policy did not cover my situation for the tow service to be reimbursed by AAA.
3) Marketing vs actual policy. During my many phone calls to discuss why my service was cancelled, I received multiple reasons. One even offered to read a policy to me over the phone, with that specific representative stating “I’m sorry, I am not really sure what that means.” The most frequently cited reason for cancellation was that I was on an unpaved road, and the policy only covers assistance if I am within 15 feet of a paved road. I was unable to receive an explanation of AAA’s definition of a “paved road.” I was left with the assumption that this meant it only covered asphalt or concrete roads. Many of the roads in Vermont/New Hampshire are dirt/gravel roads.
With my best understanding after significant time and effort, I feel this is a very limited policy compared to the marketing on the AAA website. The AAA website includes graphics stating “Need a tow? Contact AAA for help 24-hour hours a day, seven days a week in any car -- whether you’re the passenger or the driver, and anywhere in the U.S. or Canada;” (typo is in the graphic and included due to the direct quote).
Ultimately, the official written reason for not covering the service was my vehicle being “unable to be safely reached.” In my case, on a residential road with homes along it, a front-wheel-drive Honda Civic that required nothing more than a shovel and two boards to be freed—was not considered covered service. Additionally, I was also told over the phone that a shovel and planks of wood are not covered by the policy. Only winching and towing.
I purchased the AAA membership for peace of mind that if I was stuck, that I would receive roadside assistance without additional cost. Instead I experienced a denial of service, difficulty and delays with communication, an extraordinarily cumbersome reimbursement process, and coverage limitations that appear far narrower than the claims made in AAA’s marketing. After a quick online search I discovered that I am not the only one with these complaints. Due to these experiences, I feel AAA was more of a hindrance than a service. I also realized that it is more cost-effective (and reliable) for me to pay for tow services when I need them vs a AAA membership.

I've used AAA for roadside assistance a couple of times. Today was one of those times. In very bad weather, cold, wiping rain,. After coming out of our voting station and found the car unable to start. The battery was providing nothing but some clicks. I called AAA and requested roadside assistance. After giving my information and location I was pleasantly surprised to see a battery technician arrive within a few minutes. He was very professional and patient considering the weather conditions and promptly proceeded to test my old battery, the charging system and show me his findings. A bad battery. He offered to get the car started should I choose to have my mechanic replace the battery or install a new one he had on his truck. I chose the latter and within minutes I had a new battery installed at a reasonable price. His name was Pedro from King towing. Many thanks for very prompt and professional service.

So they wanted me to wait with my truck 5 hours without Confirmation of the actual service time. I pay for service, not for them to be understaffed. Canceled my request. Used a private towing company. Why should I pay for a service that is so unreliable? After cancelling the tow, I still got updates on the driver's response time. Maybe that is why they are so limited with two companies to respond. Show up to the location and there is no vehicle. No vehicle to tow, no pay. Not the operator's fault, AAA's fault. Will be dropping my membership. It went from a great service, a company that only cares about profits and not service.

When the driver finally arrived he attempted to jump my car battery with a portable charger and was unsuccessful. Then he tried jumping my car with his tow truck, again unsuccessful. I assisted the AAA driver in positioning my car behind the AAA truck. Just as we were ready to load my car on the flatbed, a very nice man who pulled into a parking spot nearby and watched the failed AAA service attempts, offered to try jumping my battery with his portable charger and was successful. This kind bystander saved me from having my car towed unnecessarily. Now I'm thinking that AAA membership is NOT worth having!

I'm 65 years old and have been a customer with AAA since 1998! In that time, have used their services less than 5 times! In every instance, the wait time on the side of a road was always several hours but I've never complained. But this time, I was simply taking my horse for a ride at a neighboring park when my personal truck pulling my personal horse trailer, broke down in the center of the Hwy, placing myself and my horse in traffic danger. The AAA rep asked me to very explicitly describe my truck for the tow-truck driver (a FORD F350 with a flatbed). It has no logos, it is affiliated with no business, it is simply my personal truck that I chose a more useful bed to pull my horse with. It is the same length as any other truck with a normal bed, a choice offered by FORD. The AAA rep told us a tow-truck would be in route. All seemed well.
We then waited in the middled of the road for over 3 hours for the tow truck but before they arrived, the tow truck company contracted with AAA called to tell me AAA would not cover the tow because my truck didn't have a regular pickup truck bed, it had a flatbed bed. They insisted I pay $400+ or they would not respond. I had a horse now standing on the side of the road and I was blocking traffic therefore I was obviously held hostage and paid the price. AAA then informed me that in fine print somewhere, my choice of a flatbed vs a regular truck bed made my service contract invalid so I'd been paying for this service, all these years for NOTHING!
I feel so scammed and foolish. My investment in my membership for this many years FAR outweighed what it would have cost them to help me this one time. Even with a huge AAA logo across the tow-truck, the tow-truck company acted as though they would do anything possible to avoid honoring a AAA membership! I assume they make far less for a tow through AAA than if they can find a means of making the tow ineligible through AAA service. Buyer beware as you won't know if you're covered until you're very much in need and denied coverage! (Special thanks to all who stopped to assure my horses and my safety during the outrageous wait and who were as appalled by AAA's response to all of this as I was.)

I lost my key to my 2018 RAM pro Master. Called AAA. They sent a locksmith company. They have the person came make a key to my door and he said he couldn't make a key for the ignition because it needed to be changed in order to make a new key..... He should have just said take it to the dealership. He was not certified to do the job but he wanted that extra 300 to change the ignition... I agreed and he made me a faulty key that failed and damaged my whole computer system....
AAA then said I could file a claim I filed the claim then they tried to make it like it's not the fault or the company that messed up my car. They denied my claim. Left me having to pay 3500 to change my whole computer system because they hire crackheads and companies that are not certified to do the job. I've been out of work for two weeks and they didn't even offer me a rental. Nothing. Just basically said, "The hell with you. You are on your own...." My lawyers will be on they ass soon..... I would never use them.

AAA used to be good with customer service, but now you can't even explain your issue because they have these automated prompts that don't apply. Then the robot tells you they sent a text message. Guess what? I don't get text messages on a landline. They think everyone lives on a mobile phone. I'm better off calling someone myself and just paying to avoid this aggravation. If you want people's business... answer the phone with a human? When you say customer service, they won't transfer you unless it meets one of their automated menu words! I have MS and this roadside assistance causes me more stress than I need.

After 41 years, our entire family and extended family are canceling permanently. Roadside service has been plagued by poor tow company service, damage to our vehicles, AAA making it impossible to speak to a human, and now asking for customers to send in copies of their drivers' licenses to be sent in for them to keep on file (as if anyone would trust them to keep your information safe).

I’m very disappointed. Customer for 30 + years. They do not honor their prices. An agent will give you a price over the phone but then they will email you a completely different and higher premium that is due. Sad that this business has gone way done in quality. I’m looking to switch. It seems we may not have that many insurance choices anymore but that’s not an excuse for AAA to be dishonest about their prices. They have lost my trust and loyalty.

We have had AAA for nearly 30 years and have not had to use them. This year, we did have a starter go out on our vehicle and called. After waiting for many hours, a tow truck showed up and the driver was so unprofessional. We decided to not allow him to tow our vehicle as his behavior was terrible and disorderly. The response from AAA was also so unprofessional and we will be cancelling them and never joining AAA again. No wonder the reviews on AAA are so bad.

I was a loyal AAA member for three years, but my first service call was extremely disappointing. During the visit, the technician failed to return my wheel lock, and AAA refused to cover the cost of a replacement. To make matters worse, the tire service provider was extremely rude to me, and there were no consequences for their behavior. When I contacted AAA about the issue, they showed no concern and didn’t seem to care that they were losing a long-time customer. I immediately canceled my membership. Very disappointed with both the service and the lack of accountability.

I ordered tickets to Universal Orlando through AAA for my family earlier this year. Sadly, our 32 year old middle son who was one of the ones taking the trip with us very suddenly passed away. We are an extremely close family and his death decimated us. We still wanted to do the trip in honor of him. I wanted to change the name on his ticket to my wife's, so the ticket wouldn't go to waste (she wasn't going originally). This was a very hard, emotional act for me to do, especially over the phone.
I emailed Universal's Guest Services and they were super-kind and willing to modify the name for me. But when they saw our tickets were provided from a third party (AAA), they said they couldn't do it and were very apologetic and nice. AAA did not offer an email option, so I had no choice but to speak to someone on the phone. I called and right away, the rep I got had such a thick accent, I could only understand every 3rd-4th word she was saying. This was really confusing and frustrating.
After we spoke for a while and I could make out what she was getting at, AAA required that I totally cancel my son's ticket, then repurchase it in my wife's name. Since this was a ticket purchased with our other 5 tickets and a one-day Epic Universe ticket for each person, I was risking not being able to get an Epic ticket for my wife due to capacity restrictions. The rep on the phone didn't seem to care. Her attitude, lack of compassion of what I was going through, and the unnecessarily complicated process of changing the make (again, Universal was willing, AAA was not), I went to our local AAA office in Gastonia NC. Susan helped me and couldn't have been nicer, more compassionate, and was very understanding. She called and got everything arranged for me to where I had my WHOLE order of 6 tickets canceled and got my refund. Susan even got the same rep I got and had the same confusing experience, lol.
Again, Susan was great and the only reason I gave my review a 2 instead of a 1. I went home and ordered all of our tickets directly through Universal and it was a great experience. Very easy and uncomplicated. Due to this experience, I will never order tickets of any kind through AAA again. Universal is much more organized, takes care of issues that make it was easy as possible for its customers, offers phone AND email options for Guest Services, and treat their customers with care and respect.

Be careful with this business. I used to talk very highly about them. However, if they damage your car with their subcontractors, they fence you out and do everything they can to not pay you. If you have a nice car, I suggest you end up not getting a service. They lie blatantly to your face and they don't care about your situation. So why should you care about theirs? $1,500 of damage was done to my car from some know-it-all kid from bad boy towing. Lynn asked to talk to the company. They just send you to a message board that never calls back. It just shuts off.

I’ve learned that the availability and readiness of the service varies from area to area. I hadn’t had the opportunity to use my AAA membership but found myself needing it today. What a mess before I go on the tow truck company was wonderful. No issues on that end they did what I needed them to do with no problem at all however, the 11 minutes it took me to even speak to a representative to get help was ridiculous. During that time I had to go through multiple irrelevant prompts, consider and accept or decline yet another app (over the apps), listen to more props, and finally spoke to a representative, who then goes on to tell me that they may or may not help me because of the style of the bed on my truck.
Now has this been a tow situation out of totally understood, regardless of the fact that I’ve had this same vehicle with the same bed on it towed numerous times with no issue, this was a lockout call. I locked my damn keys in my truck. So not only was I completely frustrated with the automated system and all the BS to get through to a person then they made a crappy situation even worse by acting as if there’s a chance that I’ll wait all this time and not receive help at all if they don’t like the bed of my truck. So I asked to speak to a representative and that silly individual said the same thing.
Well let me go on to tell you that when I purchased this account, no one asked me about what kind of bed I had on my truck. They just asked me for my account number expiration date, and security code. If the type of bed I have on my truck was that relevant it should be covered before payment. Completely aggravating and again made an already frustrating situation worse. I’d honestly just assumed to call the tow truck company directly paid the lockout fee and went on with my day. I promise I would’ve been a lot less frustrated. All in the name of convenience automated this app for that well that’s lost a customer in this case because I will not renew.

My husband tried to drive it around the neighborhood to charge it and it died before we could get it out of the driveway. We called AAA again and they sent another guy out who said that the battery was fine and we should have it towed to a garage.
