I have been a long time customer of AAA. Today I brought my car into the Timonium MD location for service. I was charged almost $200 ($174) just for them to provide a diagnostic check (that literally took less than 20 minutes). My heat wasn't working and they charged me this amount to tell me that HVAC Blower motor was not working. My relationship with AAA ---is my car service provider----has officially ended today! I will not be coming back for service. This is an example of a company taking complete advantage of its customer. I wish I had asked about the diagnostic fee in advance... I would have definitely taken my business elsewhere. Goodbye AAA!!!

I went into a ditch during a total white out. I was coming home from a doctors appointment otherwise I would of not being on the roads. I called AAA. Not only were they extremely RUDE but did not help at all. They told me that my husband had to be in the car with me. I explained that I had called him ( it is his car). He gave me permission to call them. They told me to go home and get him. Then bring him back to the car stuck in the ditch. I told them if I could do that I would not need them. They were extremely rude. They didn't even ask if I was OK. I called 911. Not only were they very helpful, they asked if I was OK. Within FIVE minutes Avery polite tow truck driver and deputy were there to help me. And at, a MUCH lower price than AAA. I will never recommend them again. I was on my way in less than 20 minutes.

I was looking to leave a review on our most recent AAA experience. We were so impressed by our tow truck driver, Cordero **, who works as a towing specialist for the actual AAA company, here in the Orlando/Apopka/Central Florida region. We were so impressed by his professionalism, his kindness, his knowledge, and his fantastic attitude. He really went above and beyond for us. He called us personally with an eta, the first thing he asked was about our safety. Then he arrived a little earlier than expected, with a couple of ice cold waters for us. He made us feel at ease, and lightened up the mood with his words of kindness, and then proceeded to get right to work.

After getting our vehicle hooked up, he started out to the pre planned address, and arrived at that location quickly and safely. He really took those extra steps to show concern and kindness- Mr. ** is a man of great character and integrity, and we believe that AAA is blessed to have him on staff. It’s not every day that you come into contact with someone who really is respectful and thoughtful, who portrayed such a great attitude, with old school customer service and communication skills. This guy deserves recognition; we believe that to the extent that we have hunted down where we can leave a review for him and the service he provided. He really does a stellar job, representing AAA, giving you a great name. You all earned a solid 5 star review, and it really is thanks to Cordero **. We hope that he is in the very least recognized for the way he carries himself and the AAA name he works for.

AAA stinks - I was stuck roadside, had to go on a site to give location which showed as wrong. It was not easy to do when you are on a highway and don't have a specific address. I was there over 2 hours and ended up gimping my overheating car home for over 2.5 hours. They finally called me when I was home - Fricken yay. I called a week later to have them tow it to my mechanic. Being Basic, I am only covered for 7 miles, my mechanic is 16 - but they said it was a 22 mile tow and I would have to pay over $107 for the tow. The people answering the phones after long holds were robots and kept passing me along. Stick with the tow coverage on your auto insurance. AAA used to be good - but no longer. They are next to useless.

I've had two horrifically terrible experiences with this company. The first one I let blow by which I shouldn't have. I let them tell my car approximately 50 miles and the tow truck driver stole everything out of it and they said it was my word against his and did it help me in any way, shape or form, this time I put a request in at 10:26 p.m. and didn't get assistance until 2:00 a.m. and had to stand out in the cold and walk down the sidewalk in the dark and ended up hurting myself, tripping on the sidewalk and falling down in the dark and I actually need help with my medical injuries which they said they were going to at first but now they closed my ticket. Said, "We're sorry, have a nice day." Basically hope that we see you at renewal, so obviously they don't care about customer satisfaction at all, and waiting in 50° weather, pitch black at night on the side of the road as a single woman was not great.

I was coming home from my friends house. A notification popped up on my car saying that my car charger had accept the malfunction. Pull over immediately in a safe space. I do this and I call my parents and they come and pick me up. My dad drives my car to try and drives it home. He didn’t make it. 10 minutes my car battery fully depleted as well as my alternator and then my brakes failed and then my steering wheel stopped functioning. My dad called AAA and he explained the situation. AAA then said they can’t help him because he already use his five tow truck calls for the year due to tire blowouts. Only when my Mom called they agreed to help me and my dad went in an Uber and left my Mom in 20° weather at 63 years old with my car. AAA chooses to put policy limits on people rather than focusing on people safety which is what they advertise. This is completely unacceptable.

AAA Roadside Assistance is HORRIBLE. I called for a tow over 15 miles distance and was informed that I had to upgrade to the next level that covers up to 100 miles (and costs another $100). I did, but then the tow truck driver requested another $131 that I paid. Now, AAA claims that the $100 was for this tow, only that covers 7 miles and not 100 miles that I was told on the phone. Talking with both sides of their mouth and get away with it. Bottom line, AAA auto club cannot be trusted. I will cut my membership card in pieces and will be looking for the better ipastures. I don't recommend AAA Auto Club to anyone.

Couldn't be more disappointed with the service that I have received as a member. I have had several bad experiences with AAA- but this last one takes the cake. I called to have someone come jump my car, unlock it and put air in my tire. I stated three different times on the phone that these were the three things I needed. I also asked one final time before we hung up to ensure the person came with the ability to do all three. She said yes, the fee would be $125 and I said "for all three things?" and she said "yes" - Before the tech arrived I was able to actually get the car open so I told him that wasn't needed anymore and he didn't say anything - then I said so all we need to do is the air and the jumping - he said he was not told about the tire needing air and he can only do the jump.

Then he said "his machine broke this morning anyway". He did jump my car which was great, but I was still worried about driving on this flat tire. He said "just go to a gas station, you'll be okay" and I said "yeah but I paid to have both tasks completed"- he said nothing, detached his jumper box, said "you're all set" then left. I drove very slow on the flat tire, on my way to the gas station I called AAA back and told them that half the job was completed so I asked for a partial refund. I was forwarded to another department, don't remember the name.

When they sent me to the new department I was told that I had requested three services, and that's not how it works. That the tech is sent with one task at hand and a tech that is sent for a battery jump is not expected to have equipment to fill a tire or replace a tire. I said that I understood what she was saying, however, that was never explained to me. She said she was sorry and that she will talk to her team. I said I would have had a friend jump my car instead of paying $125 for a jump, my true concern was driving on the flat tire. That's the only reason I was willing to pay that amount anyway. Not just pay $125 for a jump.

She said she understood, however the tech completed the service requested of me and I said he completed HALF the service, and she told me that a battery jump is a full service and I said AGAIN that I understand but that was never explained to me. That's why I followed through with the AAA request because everything I asked for I was told could be done. Then I said fine, please transfer me to the department to cancel my membership. She said Not a problem, she could do it right there.

Truthfully I was not interested in speaking with her anymore so I hung up and called back and canceled with a different person. While canceling, they don't ask why, don't ask about your experience. Nothing. The lack of concern, customer care, the lack of clarity, the lack of empathy, the lack of remorse for misinformation. Everything was just a let down, start to finish. Like I said this was my final straw, I have had several other bad experiences but never felt like bringing them up because it just wasn't worth it, but this was just too much. I have canceled my membership. I will not be using them again. Being a member is pointless, the staff doesn't even know their own policies, just wait until the call is completed, take the money and then tell you to kick rocks. 2/10 Rating.

When taken to shop they requested 5 minutes to move cars around. They refused and took my car. They took it to an address I don't recognize. Now it has to be picked up and taken to my mechanic. I am a former AAA employee (Safety Director/Nebraska AAA 1979-82) and long-term member. Until my godawful experience with the new automated emergency road service last week, I have had nothing bad to say about AAA. I called AAA to tow my Ford F-150 five blocks to have the fuel pump replaced. The automated system sent me a text to provide specifics re my issue. I sent the text and waited for a response.

Long story short---I'm still waiting days later. I tried calling the main office in Omaha to speak to someone and found myself back in the automated matrix. Sent another text. Same result. Hours later a neighbor hooked a chain to my truck and towed me to the repair shop. To add insult to injury, I had just paid $161 to continue my AAA membership with the 100-mile towing option. I'm sure AAA is full of quality employees who know that satisfied customers are the key to AAA's future, but I know that I could have found myself stranded in a blizzard miles from home and gotten the same result I got last week. Which is absolutely nothing. I'll make other towing arrangements and AAA can keep my $161.

I’m very disappointed with AAA’s roadside assistance. Their service has become completely unreliable. Every time I’ve needed help, the wait times were hours long, even for simple issues like a dead battery or a tire change. Sitting on the side of the road for that long—especially in unsafe areas—is frustrating and unacceptable. On top of that, the customer service is unhelpful and dismissive. Agents rarely give accurate updates, and I’m often told “someone is on the way” only to keep waiting with no real timeline. When I called back for updates, I was transferred around or spoken to with attitude instead of empathy. AAA used to be known for reliability, but now it feels like I’m paying for a service I can’t depend on. I will be reconsidering my membership and warning others about the long wait times and lack of support.

My wife and I are pushing 70, and today (a rainy snowy day) the original battery in our "new" car (only 5 years old - my bad for not tracking its age) gave up the ghost while I gassed it the car. A guy gassing up next to us tried to jump it but no luck. We had already contacted AAA and they were dispatching someone to assist us. I was confused by them asking the year, make, and model of our car, but it played out well. Tyrus ** from Anthony's Towing and Recovery arrived within 30 minutes (earlier than expected) with two batteries each of which could replace the original if necessary. It was obvious that the old one was done. Tyrus replaced it on the spot, and the cost wasn't much over retail. We were over a barrel but weren't taken advantage of. And we greatly appreciated Tyrus' professionalism and politeness.

We've been subscriber's to AAA (for the entire family) since 1998 and we've never been let down. But we've never expected them to be able to snap their fingers and make a tow truck or emergency service appear instantaneously either! We returned to AAA after having "Free, nation-wide 24 hour emergency service" that came with a new car fail. AAA has never failed us.

After more than 20 years AND giving AAA as gifts to our kids, this was my thanks. I refused to renew and remain to this day a non- member and encourage others to find alternative programs. I am wondering if it was not urgent how long would it take for AAA to come and tow you 10 hours maybe.... Sorry to be sarcastic but this is HORRIBLE!!!!! AAA kept telling him they were coming. I called three times and the last call I was told they dropped the ball and nobody is coming with a tow truck. This is after 3 hours of him waiting. What is the point of having AAA if they do not do anything to help their members. They breached their contract with us by not showing up. I called them and informed them of this. They DO NOT CARE!!!!! This is horrible.

I was with my teenage daughter up by Weeki Wachee, about 70 miles from home give or take a few miles but I was paying for 100 miles tow, the wheel bearings came apart on the truck so I pulled over and called AAA, so far great but after I waited and waited the link just said waiting for technician, which means the tow company, 3 hrs after I made the call at 9 50 in the morning I called again to speak with someone at aaa to tell them we are still waiting, they said they would check any updates and call me back, they call back and tell me no tow until 8 30 the next morning, I am not happy to say the least, on top of that they tell me I have to be with the truck in the morning to get it towed.

Terrible service, I could not even believe it, I just wondered what if I was elderly or someone traveling with a young baby that was depending on that security that was paid for, what would someone do if they didn't have anyone to come pick them up. We did not get home till 6 30 that evening and aaa did nothing, and the next morning when I had to leave work to drive over an hour back there because they said I had to be with it, I didn't have to sign anything they didn't need my license, nothing. Very disappointed, I wish someone would have called to ask my experience.

Older adult with disabilities. Member for 6 years but will not renew. After being in a minor accident during heavy snow at 5 AM I was stranded on the road not able to run my car for heat because my radiator was busted from the accident. Was told a tow truck would arrive by 7 AM. Then I get an automated phone call at 7:10 AM saying a truck will be there in 30 minutes. 5 minutes later, another automated call saying 90 minutes. About 10 minutes after that yet another automated call saying 170 minutes, then another automated call saying 999 minutes. Called customer service to let them know that 1) I'm an older disabled person, 2) had already been waiting over 2 hours and 3) can't run my car for heat and it's below freezing temps. The first lady put me on hold while she "checked into it" for over 20 minutes. I hung up and called back, the second lady told me it would be ANOTHER 3 HOURS before someone could get to me!

Had zero care that I had already been sitting in the freezing cold for about 3 hours at this point and hung up on me. Meantime my mechanic shop, which was about a mile from where I was stranded at, opened at 9 AM and when I told him what was going on he said "I'm on my way". My mechanic came, got me and my car to his shop, cranked up the heater in his office so I could get warm, ordered the parts I needed to get my car running and road legal. It was about 10:30 AM when a AAA driver called me to say he was in route to get my car. I laughed and told him my hero mechanic saved me. AAA keeping an older (almost senior age) disabled person stranded on the road after an accident for 5 and a half hours and rude customer service on top of that is beyond is completely unacceptable.

My extremely negative experience with AAA Roadside Assistance has 3 parts: (1) my experience with a specific incident where I was stranded on a residential road (2) my overall experience with communication/calling AAA including the complaint process and request for reimbursement process (3) AAA advertisement claiming a broad helpful service then receiving a limited covered service.

    1) Stranded for 6 hours that ended with me calling 911. I was in my Honda Civic enroute to a home on a residential road in Vermont when my vehicle became stuck. I did not have service, so had to walk about 30 minutes down the road to receive cell service. I called AAA and was told I would be contacted by the servicer for a tow. I waited in that spot in the cold and light rain for 2-3 hours, calling to check-in with AAA notifying I hadn’t been contacted and requesting a call. The first notification I received from the tow servicer was that the request had been canceled. Called AAA and was given multiple different reasons on why it was canceled. At this point, the sun was setting, temperatures were dropping further, my cellphone battery was quickly dying (due to waiting for that phone call away from my vehicle where I could charge it), and I was told AAA could not help me.

I had to call 911 which put me in contact with another tow servicer that was able to assist my vehicle out. No winch needed, just a couple of boards and a shovel for my Honda Civic to drive out of where it was stuck on the road. Attempting to utilize my AAA membership took me from an unfortunate situation to an unsafe emergency. I was significantly worse off trying to utilize AAA than I would have been calling a local tow service myself.

    2) Persistent communication and customer-service difficulties. While stranded, every time I called AAA, I spoke to a different person and had to re-explain my situation. This continued throughout all my experiences calling AAA. I also frequently experienced the interruption by some loud machine saying AAA is recording this phone call.

After the incident, I called to complain about my experience and was educated on the process to pursue reimbursement for the costs of the independent tow company. The only way to request this was by a AAA form (which I also had to call again because the form sent to me had parts that looked like a jumbled mess of random characters from poor formatting). This AAA form must be faxed to the company or mailed. No option of an online portal to upload or email. They did offer for me to go to a AAA office for them to fax them, which the closest office was over an hour away. I faxed the appropriate information. AAA responded 3-4 weeks later denying the reimbursement claim.

I called to cancel my membership, because although I easily signed-up for the membership online, I discovered a phone call must be performed to cancel. I wished to speak with someone about next steps about my reimbursement claim and if there were none to cancel the membership. I experienced: over an hour of speaking with 9-10 different contact points re-explaining my situation; being transferred to either the wrong department or to a generic phone tree multiple times or finally landing on a voicemail; having to hang up and call the general cancellation number multiple times until I was able to speak with the correct person/s. Ultimately, I was told that my policy did not cover my situation for the tow service to be reimbursed by AAA.

    3) Marketing vs actual policy. During my many phone calls to discuss why my service was cancelled, I received multiple reasons. One even offered to read a policy to me over the phone, with that specific representative stating “I’m sorry, I am not really sure what that means.” The most frequently cited reason for cancellation was that I was on an unpaved road, and the policy only covers assistance if I am within 15 feet of a paved road. I was unable to receive an explanation of AAA’s definition of a “paved road.” I was left with the assumption that this meant it only covered asphalt or concrete roads. Many of the roads in Vermont/New Hampshire are dirt/gravel roads.

With my best understanding after significant time and effort, I feel this is a very limited policy compared to the marketing on the AAA website. The AAA website includes graphics stating “Need a tow? Contact AAA for help 24-hour hours a day, seven days a week in any car -- whether you’re the passenger or the driver, and anywhere in the U.S. or Canada;” (typo is in the graphic and included due to the direct quote).

Ultimately, the official written reason for not covering the service was my vehicle being “unable to be safely reached.” In my case, on a residential road with homes along it, a front-wheel-drive Honda Civic that required nothing more than a shovel and two boards to be freed—was not considered covered service. Additionally, I was also told over the phone that a shovel and planks of wood are not covered by the policy. Only winching and towing.

I purchased the AAA membership for peace of mind that if I was stuck, that I would receive roadside assistance without additional cost. Instead I experienced a denial of service, difficulty and delays with communication, an extraordinarily cumbersome reimbursement process, and coverage limitations that appear far narrower than the claims made in AAA’s marketing. After a quick online search I discovered that I am not the only one with these complaints. Due to these experiences, I feel AAA was more of a hindrance than a service. I also realized that it is more cost-effective (and reliable) for me to pay for tow services when I need them vs a AAA membership.

I've used AAA for roadside assistance a couple of times. Today was one of those times. In very bad weather, cold, wiping rain,. After coming out of our voting station and found the car unable to start. The battery was providing nothing but some clicks. I called AAA and requested roadside assistance. After giving my information and location I was pleasantly surprised to see a battery technician arrive within a few minutes. He was very professional and patient considering the weather conditions and promptly proceeded to test my old battery, the charging system and show me his findings. A bad battery. He offered to get the car started should I choose to have my mechanic replace the battery or install a new one he had on his truck. I chose the latter and within minutes I had a new battery installed at a reasonable price. His name was Pedro from King towing. Many thanks for very prompt and professional service.

So they wanted me to wait with my truck 5 hours without Confirmation of the actual service time. I pay for service, not for them to be understaffed. Canceled my request. Used a private towing company. Why should I pay for a service that is so unreliable? After cancelling the tow, I still got updates on the driver's response time. Maybe that is why they are so limited with two companies to respond. Show up to the location and there is no vehicle. No vehicle to tow, no pay. Not the operator's fault, AAA's fault. Will be dropping my membership. It went from a great service, a company that only cares about profits and not service.

When the driver finally arrived he attempted to jump my car battery with a portable charger and was unsuccessful. Then he tried jumping my car with his tow truck, again unsuccessful. I assisted the AAA driver in positioning my car behind the AAA truck. Just as we were ready to load my car on the flatbed, a very nice man who pulled into a parking spot nearby and watched the failed AAA service attempts, offered to try jumping my battery with his portable charger and was successful. This kind bystander saved me from having my car towed unnecessarily. Now I'm thinking that AAA membership is NOT worth having!

In every instance, the wait time on the side of a road was always several hours but I've never complained. But this time, I was simply taking my horse for a ride at a neighboring park when my personal truck pulling my personal horse trailer, broke down in the center of the Hwy, placing myself and my horse in traffic danger. The AAA rep asked me to very explicitly describe my truck for the tow-truck driver (a FORD F350 with a flatbed). It has no logos, it is affiliated with no business, it is simply my personal truck that I chose a more useful bed to pull my horse with. It is the same length as any other truck with a normal bed, a choice offered by FORD. The AAA rep told us a tow-truck would be in route. All seemed well.

We then waited in the middled of the road for over 3 hours for the tow truck but before they arrived, the tow truck company contracted with AAA called to tell me AAA would not cover the tow because my truck didn't have a regular pickup truck bed, it had a flatbed bed. They insisted I pay $400+ or they would not respond. I had a horse now standing on the side of the road and I was blocking traffic therefore I was obviously held hostage and paid the price. AAA then informed me that in fine print somewhere, my choice of a flatbed vs a regular truck bed made my service contract invalid so I'd been paying for this service, all these years for NOTHING!

I feel so scammed and foolish. My investment in my membership for this many years FAR outweighed what it would have cost them to help me this one time. Even with a huge AAA logo across the tow-truck, the tow-truck company acted as though they would do anything possible to avoid honoring a AAA membership! I assume they make far less for a tow through AAA than if they can find a means of making the tow ineligible through AAA service. Buyer beware as you won't know if you're covered until you're very much in need and denied coverage! (Special thanks to all who stopped to assure my horses and my safety during the outrageous wait and who were as appalled by AAA's response to all of this as I was.)

Absolutely horrible experience. I am a senior citizen female who was forced to wait over 4 hours for assistance with a flat tire in a metropolitan area. I called AAA at 2:48 and assistance arrived after 7:00 pm. Each time I contacted an agent, I was repeatedly told lies as to the expected wait time for assistance to arrive. After 3 hours of waiting and at 6:04 I was told a driver would be there in 11 minutes. I gave up and realized AAA was unreliable so at 6:30 pm I called an Uber for a ride home. It is not safe for an elderly woman to be sitting in a disabled car in the dark for any length of time, much less 4+ hours. I felt like a sitting duck in harm's way.

I’ve been paying for AAA for 6 years feeling I would be safe if my car malfunctioned. I was terribly wrong; there was no concern for my safety. I can understand if a true emergency would take precedence, but not for over 4 hours. Nor can I understand repeatedly being told lies with inaccurate wait times for 4+ hours. AAA does not care about any customers’ safety. They are a despicable service that does not provide what is promised. On the contrary, they leave a woman stranded for hours and when confronted with that fact, produce only lies. It was a frightening, dishonest and unsafe experience. Please do not believe what AAA advertises or professes to be. They’ll leave a person sitting there without providing any assistance, assurances or concern for safety. Do not give them money.

Work Order #**: We called AAA Sunday, 10-9-25 to set up a tow truck come out to our home and tow our non running vehicle to our mechanic, who also is on AAA 2 page as Tow Truck Service for when all the others are busy. AAA said they could not call our mechanic/tow truck driver because he is not on their main list of contacts. They use him when no one else can handle a towing job. AAA refuses to call our mechanics shop, then scheduled a towing service in another town to come pick up our car at our home to tow to our mechanic. They scheduled us from 8:30am to 10:30am to have our auto picked up and towed for us. My husband took 1/2 day of work off to get this done. However, we kept getting messages they were behind and it would be several more hours.

After we complained that my husband has now missed a whole days work and still AAA has no clue when they are coming to us. On Sunday, 10-9-25 AAA scheduled 8:30am to 10:30am on Monday, 10-10-25. Nobody showed up. My husband has been a loyal customer of AAA since 1988, making him a 36 year customer but apparently AAA does not have loyalty to their customers with that long a service. We will be pushing for AAA to stop monopolizing and let their customers choose who they want to use for towing, especially when our mechanic live just a few miles from us. I have a lot of family in Government and I'm sure they will lead me where I need to go to get their policy's changed to benefit, who else, but the paying loyal customer.

This will not stop here and I will continue to take this complaint up the ladder until I find someone who hold the power to make the correct changes! I truly hope and pray, just as I do when I'm waiting on AAA service, that upper management will see the problem and care enough to right the wrongs. I'm pretty handy so I mainly wanted to rely on the towing services as I don't need them to change my tires or batteries for me. I just experienced my THIRD situation this year where I found myself needing to be towed home. Once was a new ball joint failed, another was my clutch pivot fork snapped and this last time I blew out a tire and this car has no spare. All three times I was in the same state I live in. All three times "we can't find anyone to tow you." Various locations, various mileages. I'm in NJ, not Montana.

All three times I had to call and pay for one of the many available tow companies local to where I was. They showed up quickly and got me home at reasonable rates. This last time I sat on the side of 78 from 3am to 730am. I finally DoorDashed slime and a compressor to my location on the side of the road and got myself home. Save your money. They're trash. We had to come back today to get a tow where they could verify with the car lot that it was our vehicle (which is ridiculous because we have the title and registration). And they told us our pick-up time is 1:37, but apparently that’s just their system because they said they still don’t have a tow driver coming for us yet. So the 1:37 is just made up. I ordered tickets to Universal Orlando through AAA for my family earlier this year. Sadly, our 32 year old middle son who was one of the ones taking the trip with us very suddenly passed away. We are an extremely close family and his death decimated us. We still wanted to do the trip in honor of him. I wanted to change the name on his ticket to my wife's, so the ticket wouldn't go to waste (she wasn't going originally). This was a very hard, emotional act for me to do, especially over the phone.

I emailed Universal's Guest Services and they were super-kind and willing to modify the name for me. But when they saw our tickets were provided from a third party (AAA), they said they couldn't do it and were very apologetic and nice. AAA did not offer an email option, so I had no choice but to speak to someone on the phone. I called and right away, the rep I got had such a thick accent, I could only understand every 3rd-4th word she was saying. This was really confusing and frustrating.

After we spoke for a while and I could make out what she was getting at, AAA required that I totally cancel my son's ticket, then repurchase it in my wife's name. Since this was a ticket purchased with our other 5 tickets and a one-day Epic Universe ticket for each person, I was risking not being able to get an Epic ticket for my wife due to capacity restrictions. The rep on the phone didn't seem to care. Her attitude, lack of compassion of what I was going through, and the unnecessarily complicated process of changing the make (again, Universal was willing, AAA was not), I went to our local AAA office in Gastonia NC. Susan helped me and couldn't have been nicer, more compassionate, and was very understanding. She called and got everything arranged for me to where I had my WHOLE order of 6 tickets canceled and got my refund. Susan even got the same rep I got and had the same confusing experience, lol.

Again, Susan was great and the only reason I gave my review a 2 instead of a 1. I went home and ordered all of our tickets directly through Universal and it was a great experience. Very easy and uncomplicated. Due to this experience, I will never order tickets of any kind through AAA again. Universal is much more organized, takes care of issues that make it was easy as possible for its customers, offers phone AND email options for Guest Services, and treat their customers with care and respect.

I’ve learned that the availability and readiness of the service varies from area to area. I hadn’t had the opportunity to use my AAA membership but found myself needing it today. What a mess before I go on the tow truck company was wonderful. No issues on that end they did what I needed them to do with no problem at all however, the 11 minutes it took me to even speak to a representative to get help was ridiculous. During that time I had to go through multiple irrelevant prompts, consider and accept or decline yet another app (over the apps), listen to more props, and finally spoke to a representative, who then goes on to tell me that they may or may not help me because of the style of the bed on my truck.

Now has this been a tow situation out of totally understood, regardless of the fact that I’ve had this same vehicle with the same bed on it towed numerous times with no issue, this was a lockout call. I locked my damn keys in my truck. So not only was I completely frustrated with the automated system and all the BS to get through to a person then they made a crappy situation even worse by acting as if there’s a chance that I’ll wait all this time and not receive help at all if they don’t like the bed of my truck. So I asked to speak to a representative and that silly individual said the same thing.

Well let me go on to tell you that when I purchased this account, no one asked me about what kind of bed I had on my truck. They just asked me for my account number expiration date, and security code. If the type of bed I have on my truck was that relevant it should be covered before payment. Completely aggravating and again made an already frustrating situation worse. I’d honestly just assumed to call the tow truck company directly paid the lockout fee and went on with my day. I promise I would’ve been a lot less frustrated. All in the name of convenience automated this app for that well that’s lost a customer in this case because I will not renew.

I purchase AAA Coverage for peace of mind. However I no longer trust this company to provide this…. They failed me when I needed them most. This past weekend I was stranded with a dead battery in a town that I knew no one. I was 2.5 hours from home. I immediately called Triple AAA for assistance. I waited almost two hours for help, and no one came. They kept sending me worthless updates saying “they were working on finding someone to assist”. I ended up having to rely on a total stranger for help since Triple AAA failed to provide the service that I pay for. I’m very disappointed and will not be renewing my membership.

This is a warning to anyone who is considering doing any business with AAA Northeast. I have been a tenant in their building for over 12 years, and it's been a nightmare. My location is **. They have moved our suite four times in this building at their convenience which cost time and money as any moving of an office space would take. They refuse to send us a monthly rent statement and randomly bill us for local and state taxes. We never know what our rent is to pay and if they do not received payment on the first of each month, they send damning notices. My company has NEVER paid late once we knew what the amount was.

Recently my car was hit in their gated parking lot in an assigned spot. The damage was over $4,000. When I brought this to their attention, they denied any responsibility and fault. How is it I am in an assigned and designated parking spot in a gated lot and patrolled by AAA, but they will not help me out by asking the other five tenants who hit me. It cost me over $1000 out of pocket for the deductible. For a company that says they are all customer service, I disagree.

I had to change banks for personal reasons and unfortunately missed one payment because I forgot to update my payment information. Since then, I’ve been getting constant calls—sometimes up to five a day from different AAA representatives. It felt excessive and harassing for something that could’ve been handled with a single courtesy reminder.

To make things worse, one of the representatives implied that I’m paying more because I’m married and don’t have my spouse on my policy. The conversation made me feel uncomfortable and discriminated against based on my marital status. My spouse and I have our own insurance for personal reasons, and that choice should be respected. After 15 years of loyalty, I expected better treatment and more professionalism. No customer should feel harassed or judged for personal or financial decisions. I’m now looking into other insurance options, as this experience has left me extremely disappointed.

When I did do so, they stated that they needed another six months previous to the six months are already on the provide. WTF. Me and my wife both have clean driving records. They left me scrambling scraping to have to move on and go to another car insurance which I have to pay for 10 days after I already paid $500 to them. I called to get a refund and one of the representative stated where your policy is already canceled so I cannot give you a refund which makes zero sense. If the policy is canceled why are you still charging $500? Do not go to them. They are overpriced. They will cancel your policy for no reason. I recommend anybody else in the world before AAA.

Their first estimate of arival was 1hr then 2 hrs then updated to 3 hrs and then 4 hours! With so many towing companies out there, that was totally unacceptable. Not to mention, it was going to be dark and all tire repair places would have been closed by the time the tow truck arrived. After getting the runaround for 2 hrs, we managed to put the spare on with the help of YouTube. I know there's no way I could ever loosen up lug nuts by myself and at my age. That's why I joined AAA. When I called to cancel, I was told I could submit for reimbursement—that was all the information I was given.

Due to unforeseen circumstances (death in family), I wasn’t able to submit the reimbursement form until early September. At no point did the customer service representative mention there was a deadline, so I had no reason to check the website for one. When I finally submitted my receipt for $145, I was denied and instead offered only a $61 membership credit. Not only was the process unclear, but the customer service I received was rude and unhelpful. We've been a AAA member for over 20 years. We took a couple of years off because at the time Good Sam had RV coverage and AAA did not. When AAA started covering RVs we came back. When calling for service we found the phones are always answered promptly. Maybe not with the best informed clerk, but they try. For example, our RV trailer blew a tire and we could see the Rockledge, FL overpass and AAA sent someone from Daytona. When we asked why we had to wait so long (over 2 hours), no reason was given to us. Wait times for a tow vary depending on the third party contractors and how busy they are; or if you're in a dangerous area.

We've recently retired and sold our RV and called AAA to cancel our membership; it was just renewed 1 month ago and their customer service solution was "to let it lapse." We asked the representative if that was the only option and she said yes, AAA doesn't give refunds. Even though we explained we were retired, aren't traveling, are on a fixed budget and have road side with our auto insurer; her answer was to tell us to be sure we cancelled the auto pay feature and let it lapse. She did apologize (I'm sure that's part of their spiel). As far as customer service goes, she was only doing her job, but AAA should reconsider their "no refund" policy. So much for being a valued longtime member.

I am only giving a review of 1 because you cannot leave a 0 rating. I have been a member of AAA RV Gold Plus roadside assistance for many years. I never had to use this service until recently. On 9/15/25, approximately 1:30 PM, my 40 foot 5th Wheel Camper broke down on US 23 in Michigan. I called for a tow and got handed off to a sub-contractor who basically extorted me 2 x for additional charges and 3 different promises of when I would get towed. I ended up giving them my credit card number to get towed by certain times and they did not keep their promised times. The first promise was 6 - 8 PM, they did not show. The 2nd promise was by 10:30, they did not show. The next promise was by midnight, no show. The next promise was before 8:00AM the next morning, no show.

AAA had stopped their phone and text communications with me, as did the sub-contractor. I was at this point dealing with a tow truck operator the gave me 3 different estimates, but never showed until sometime early afternoon. So essentially I paid nearly $900 over and above to the extortionists for promises of tow times that were not honored. I called to complain to AAA about this experience and cancel my membership and request a refund of the 6 months balance of my membership fees and they refused. To try to accomplish this, I had to speak to 12 different representatives, tell 6 different people why, get put on hold and transferred at least 10 times and all this for nothing. I would strongly advise against purchasing an RV roadside assistance membership from AAA. They are absolutely clueless and not empathetic to getting their customer the service they have paid for. I guess that is why they now have a 1.5 stars rating.

I wouldn't give them ANY stars if that were possible!! I have been a member for 20 years and haven't needed too many services up until a few years ago. AAA is having an increasingly difficult time contracting with service providers because they are not willing to pay enough. For this reason, it takes HOURS for them to line someone up to come help.

We have had two awful experiences recently - one involving an RV that died on the interstate (waited 3.5 hrs with heavy traffic, finally made arrangements myself. Cost us $1600 and AAA reimbursed $500); and one involving a truck stuck in a boat ramp (again waited 3 hrs, made calls myself - luckily found a AAA provider 30 miles away). BOTH times, they send text updates and call saying they are still working to locate a service provider. The 2nd time they said someone would show within 30 minutes and then 15 min later, I got a text saying my "request is in queue and we'll update you soon with a more precise ETA."

The guy I contacted myself who came to our rescue said he would only get $62 from AAA (the other guy I called would've charged $250)!! They won’t pay for forest roads, dirt roads, RV’s, business parking lots, to name just a few. The list of “Won’t Do’s" vs. what they offer. I have been a member for over 50 years. They are a F minus. They don’t have a care in the world and when you actually ask these people their names there’s a whole flip in demeanor. I believe AAA management is aware they have a monopoly over this service and it shows in the way they let their staff act. They are the laziest most miserable people ever and if you don’t kiss up to them they’ll find an excuse to transfer you yet again.

My most recent experience with them was being stranded with a stalled vehicle in the middle of an intersection at 2am. I never received a call they were coming until 10am that someone was coming where I told them to kick rocks, I found someone to come. I was in a dangerous situation and was offered no help, no communication on delays and the CS rep really had himself an attitude after I got left in the middle of a dark intersection overnight.

We’ve had AAA for decades and I haven’t been able to imagine not having it. But the past couple of years something has happened - either with the tow companies or AAA itself. First thing I noticed was we ran out of roadside assistance a couple years ago. They said I’d called too many times. I admit I think it was three times that year, but I thought it was strange at the time. I paid the extra money and bought a battery. I’m always so grateful for the help I buy a battery even though I know it costs more. Then I locked my keys in the car at a gas station at 2am going home from work and I froze to death waiting three hours for the unlock. That time they also said I’d run out of roadside so I paid $175. The guy felt so bad he said he’d delete it, if they called he said just tell them I got it open myself.

Now, twice, I’ve tried to get jump starts and they never showed up. Of course after a few hours someone manages to help. Now I’m buying those little jump starters so I don’t have to use cables or have another car to help. All these years, never had a problem and I’ve always been grateful, even paying $300 for a long distance tow because we didn’t have premium. We have it now, but it runs out quick and lately no one is showing up. I get the feeling AAA and the tow companies don’t want to bother anymore. At least it’s teaching me to be more self-reliant - but the learning curve is causing anguish meantime. AAA used to be so reliable.

I had the worst experience with them. My car broke down while I was driving home from work. I had to get a tow and it took them 5.5 hours to finally send a tow truck. That is absolutely inexcusable for it to take that long. They even gave me an update by text message at one point that said the tow truck would be there in 30 minutes but it took 3 hours after that. I also tried calling the customer service to get updates on why it was taking so long but I kept getting hung up on, it happened at least 3 or 4 times. I eventually got a person on the phone who didn’t hang up on me but it shouldn’t take multiple tries. Worst service I have ever had from any company, just awful! Someone shouldn’t have to spend their entire day sitting and waiting for a tow truck to tow them across town. A couple hours would be acceptable but 5.5 is just not ok.

Then the guy that came out said he would call a tow truck and left. After about an hour, we didn't hear anything so we called AAA and they said there was no call, but they would get one now and put us on "priority" since we had been waiting already. We received 3 different texts saying it would be 16 minutes, then 58 minutes, then a AAA agent called and said it would be another 45 minutes.

We waited FOUR HOURS for a tow after AAA said we would be put on priority, so 5 hours total. It wouldn't have been so bad had we not kept getting messages that said different times that kept changing, and a call again from them that was wrong again, so we wasted an entire evening waiting for a tow. That's just terrible service and completely unreliable. We're looking at other options for roadside service as it would have been even worse had we been stranded in the middle of nowhere.

I got a flat tire and was stuck on the side of a highway with a high speed limit. For the next few hours (still stuck on the highway), I spoke to several different people giving them the exact same information, and they still managed to get it wrong when giving it to the driver who was dispatched to help me. He was given information that I was in a different part of the state, 45 minutes away. I have no idea how because I told them exactly where I was on the highway by giving them the mile markers that I was near and my coordinates according to google maps. How on earth did they get that I was in a completely different location? After dealing with that, it took 3 hours for someone to come out, only to find out that he wouldn't have been able to help me because my spare tire didn't have a rim. Fair enough. I was told I would have to call AAA and get a tow truck out to me.

I did exactly that. After a half hour of nothing, I called them and asked what was going on. Apparently, my situation was marked "low priority" despite me being stuck on the side of a highway with a high speed limit. They moved me up to high priority/emergency. Much later (I was stuck on the side of the highway for 4 hours at this point), I get a call from the towing company saying that they would be out to me for another 40 minutes. The man asked me to confirm my location and I told him where I was. Once again, he somehow got that I was in the same wrong location from AAA and I was told that I would have to call them again so that they could send the towing company the right location.

At this point, I was beyond angry, but kept my cool when talking to customer service. The AAA people said that they had the right location in their system and had no clue how the towing place got the wrong location. They assured me that they would fix the miscommunication. It was 5 hours before someone finally came out to me and was actually able to help me. I finally got out of there. This entire situation was extremely frustrating and infuriating to deal with. I am so thankful that this didn't happen at night, especially being a young woman who was by myself.

Very poor service. The roadside assistance was nice. Especially during winter when I needed a jumpstart to my car. But customer service and price was poor. Found out I was paying literally double than what I got now after numerous years with them. Customer service was really awkward and frustrating. Sometimes I would move to different zip code literally 10 minutes down the road. I would call to let them know to update things and they would say my insurance would go up $100. I asked if that was a month or for the 6 month policy term and they said a month which sounds outrageous. I then asked what total for new term would be and the representative said he could not access that info and only a manager can so to call back another day.

I also tried setting up autopay on the website which kept glitching so I called to do so. Multiple times they confirmed auto pay was set up but then a week later I would get messages saying I was late at making my monthly payments because customer service never really set up auto pay after numerous confirmations. Also, even after confirming cancellation of membership with AAA, they still send mail leading up to your renewal date acting like you need to make a payment by certain date even sending a new membership card. I tried to explain to her that this was the vehicle I drove up in, different model, different color, different year and license plate, she yelled at me more this time saying the vehicle has no insurance or registration (I have attached proof the registration is in my name and current with insurance on the vehicle I tried to tow), finally I had to hang up on her due to excessive verbal abuse, at this point I was shaking and could hardly stand.

I am 62 years old and needed to get medically checked as my heart had palpitations, I ended up getting some meds, but the entire experience was awful, I even told the horrible lady that I can send a picture of the insurance and registration of the vehicle that broke down outside the restaurant both of which were in my name for a very long time, she did not care and continued to make assumptions about her radical theory, she even said I only needed my other car towed because I wanted a ride home, how would that make sense at all.

She was a disgrace to AAA and needs to be terminated, also the tow company called “Welcome Auto Body and Towing” located in South Lake Tahoe were in on the scam, they called me and said I need to pay them $1600.00 cash because they won’t tow via AAA, they are all involved in scams to take funds from legit customer, me of which have been loyal to AAA for 24 years.
