AAA Garfield Auto Service Center. This has got to be the worst place to do business with just through my experience. AAA had taken my vehicle into the shop. Nothing was done to it. They in exchange wanted me to pay them $1055.00 for work which was not done. Then they asked me to pay cash of $960.00 if I wanted to use my AAA discount. This raised a red flag when they asked me for the cash. They made advance moves to keep my vehicle in their shop. Just to come up with ways to charge more money. They even went as far as to go out to get a used part when I've requested new parts. This is how they operate. Now my vehicle sits in their garage. I'm also waiting to hear from AAA who is to investigate this service center seeing, how this service center was recommended by AAA as one of their service centers.
Now that I've been contacted by the AAA they've placed me with someone who knows this service center owner and it has caused a conflict of interest. If this service center is a certified service center they shouldn't have even thought to do any repairs with used parts. Especially the ABS braking system without any concern of personal health or welfare. No documentation has been presented to me in regards to any of their services. No cost factors or any statements in regards to repair if any were to be done. Only if the information was talked about is that the part was used and it would take days to receive it. I canceled their services before the 7 days. Now the service center has replied to me that they'll remove the part off of my vehicle for $500.00 even though. I didn't authorize them to do anything to my vehicle.

Great customer service representatives, however I have been waiting for a year to get reimbursed for an overpayment and have talked to well over 10 people and 2 supervisors. I have not received any letters of apology, no updates, quick to take your money and to get refunded, it has been a little over a year! Extremely disappointed with the supervisors and lack of returning emails and phone calls. I have spent many hours on the phone talking with different people. Truly upset!

I called for help. I was told it would be an hour which had me upset. Anyway I had a flat tire on my way to work. Triple A never gave me a text or follow up. Now it's an hour and a half. Still nothing. I called to see what was going on. You get sent to a robot service so they don't have to deal with you... I have tow service with my car insurance and it's great. I get help within 30 mins. I had got this service as a backup. I'm not pleased. If I could I would like a refund on this crappy service. This was my first service call at that. Wow. Words of advice. Get tow service with your auto insurance. I will not call them again and if they ever send me anything in the mail it will go in the trash. No stars for crappy service!

I was truly disappointed in my experience with Roadside Assistance for AAA Carolinas. During a trip, we had a flat tire - I thought that getting AAA for roadside assistance would be simple, considering that I have been a member for a couple of years now and have not yet needed to use the assistance service. We ended up waiting at a remote gas station for a tow truck for several hours, without receiving any updates about our service request from either AAA or the towing company. When the tow truck finally arrived, the driver informed us that the only tire servicing company was outside of the towing range, and that we would have to pay forty dollars extra for the tow. To add to that, the towing company was cash only - since this was an emergency situation, of course I didn’t have the cash in hand, and without my car, did not have any ability to go to an ATM.
Throughout this experience, the service I got from AAA was completely unsatisfactory- I am confident that I could have resolved the situation much quicker and more easily if I had coordinated the tow on my own. I will be certainly cancelling my membership, as I felt that I received no value for having the subscription during my time of need. This experience ruined travel plans that were in place for my weekend, and I couldn’t be more unhappy with the fact that I have paid good money for a membership for multiple years which is practically useless.

Got stuck on the side of the road, needed a jump for my battery. Called the service center and after going through 4 robotic levels, finally spoke to a human. Told them where I was located. All good up to this point. I told them, "Look for a blue motorcycle." They then said that I would have to upgrade to the higher membership otherwise they cannot send a truck out to jump the battery. I carefully explained to the moron that: 1. "I have been a member for years at no time was I told that you needed the higher membership for a motorcycle." 2. "Your service covers motor vehicles. A motorcycle is a motor vehicle and nowhere on renewal does it state that you need 4 wheels to be a motor vehicle." Which makes you wonder how they classify a 3 wheeled or 6 wheeled vehicle.
Since they had me over a barrel with my arms tied and pants down, I had to agree to the upgrade. I was then told that I would have to wait 48 hours. I told them you expect me to sleep by the side of the road, no food, no water, while you wait 48 hours at your home and office. They said "Yes sir. You have to wait." Luckily someone stopped after 12 hours and had some jumper cables. Needless to say I am canceling my association with AAA. If you want help or service you should do the same.

AAA Carolinas are horrible. I can’t recall ever being treated so badly by any company. My truck broke down about 130 miles from home with my 225lb dirt bike in the back. AAA wouldn’t tow it because of it was considered a loaded vehicle which totally blindsided me!! I was told by the representative that because my vehicle was loaded with my bike that it would be considered a commercial tow. Their advice was for me to leave the bike there if I wanted to be covered by their policy?? Say what?? I’ve been member for 6 years and this was their solution!
I ended up paying $750 to get my truck towed all because of 225lb dirt bike. I had no idea that there were any loaded restrictions, I was told by membership relations even if you have 2 bags of mulch in the back of your truck it’s considered a loaded vehicle. Trust me membership relations was no help at all either, they would rather sit there & argue their policy with you than to help you out. They offered me no help, no support, not a thing. AAA granted was a great operation at one time but those days are long gone! Just beware, if you’re not within their said policy guidelines they will not help you. I feel totally cheated and abandoned by AAA.

I called for a tow at 4:00 pm as my car had died. After getting numerous texts saying they would arrive later and later, I finally had no choice at 6:20 but to Uber home. My phone had less than 10% charge and it was getting dark. I would have been stranded in a dark parking lot by myself waiting and hoping a AAA tow truck would arrive. I spend $30 Ubering home. The next day I try to set up a tow truck again with AAA only to be told I have to be with my vehicle or they won't pick up. I explain I already invested 3+ hours and my car is a $30 Uber drive away. They say sorry, nothing they can do and they won't be able to send a pick up. I go ahead and set up a private tow company who could not have been nicer. Then I get a call from a AAA tow truck saying they are at my car and where am I? I explain that I am not with my car and AAA said they were not coming. Tow truck driver demands to know who is paying for Tow??? Terrible, awful service.

I was a AAA membership since 1993 until today. I renewed 5 days ago. Four days ago a medical emergency occurred and medications needed to be purchased. I contacted AAA to request a refund and explained why. I also stated that I planned to renew next month when my funds weren't stretched as thin. I was told by AAA rep "Tom" that a new policy was put in place just prior to my renewal. The new policy is NO REFUNDS FOR ANY REASON. I stated I was not informed of this new policy prior to renewing.
His response was, "Well, it's a new policy". I was then transferred to "Deanna" who also stated the NO REFUND FOR ANY REASON policy is new and she was "sorry" I wasn't informed but that's how it is. I voiced that it is a blatantly shady business practice coming from a company I had trusted for the past 25 years. I told her I have lost confidence with AAA and will pursue a refund. She then said it would take 2 weeks to receive a refund and it wouldn't help me with the immediate medical emergency. Yet, it took only moments for AAA to accept my payment by phone and deduct it from my bank account. Beware. AAA has a NO REFUND FOR ANY REASON policy that is not being disclosed to consumers.

I joined AAA 06/17. Since then, I've attempted to use their roadside services three times. Once right after I joined for a flat tire because the winch the spare was on under the van was broken and I physically couldn't remove it. It the middle of St Louis, it took me an hour and a half to fight it off by myself after calling them and nobody ever showed up so I canceled it. I was told at the time it'd be another thirty minutes at least. The second time, I blew a tire in a small town in the middle of the night, two hours from home. Called for help, told it'd be about thirty minutes. Ok. An hour later, nothing, so I call back and they say, "Oh, that company canceled, we'll try and find you a new one." Twenty minutes later, I get a callback saying it'll be at least two hours. So I had a friend come get me, canceled the order, and came back in the morning to deal with it.
Now, I'm sitting on the side of the tri-state outside Chicago, with a blown transmission. I sent mom on ahead in the vehicle I was driving because we were bringing her dog home from surgery and we couldn't leave him sitting in a broke down truck on the side of the highway with a head wound from surgery, stuck in a cone. Well, because I forgot to grab my bag out of the other car before she left, I'm told I'm on my own because I only have copies of my card and license, not the real thing.
I'm so sick of this company, the money I gave them for this membership was worthless, because nobody I work with does discounts through them, they can never provide the promised roadside assistance unless I want to camp out for half a day or more it seems, and now I'm stuck waiting on a towering company I'll have to pay when I should have been able to use the ones I get with my membership. They're thieves masquerading as the old, worthwhile AAA that no longer exists. I will never renew this membership, I will be canceling it immediately, these people are crooks. Plain and simple.

On Feb 15, 2018 at SFO airport, while stopping at a stop sign, I got rear-ended by a guy who is insured by AAA. This idiot, first refused to provide his insurance information, until I called the cop, who forced him to give his information. This moron confessed in front of the cop that he hit our car from back, but later on told AAA that we backed into him.
AAA, the crooked company it is, decided that somehow we backed up into their car, instead of rear-end collision, as this saves them money. AAA adjuster provided no justification as to why they are denying our claim, but said we believe our client is right. Also refused to accept my daughter as a witness. What a pathetic piece of crap and lying company this is. We are now left to pay for car our self because of liar who hit our car, and a cheater company. Recently I purchased a Chevrolet Bolt, a battery power only vehicle. I asked what the AAA position would be and what kind of service I would get if I ran out of fuel (battery power) on the highway. The answer is that they offer nothing and apparently have no published policy. I say apparently because the agent didn't know the answer and claimed to have asked a supervisor. If that was the case it establishes that there was no written policy since the agent didn't know about it. Or, the supervisor made up the answer which means that the policy would depend on which supervisor was asked. Clearly, that is not a policy either. So if you have an EV look for another road service company whose policy is current with transportation trends.

My husband's battery died late at night in 17 degree weather, outside of a closed store. He called AAA, they told him 45 min to one hour, but we were hoping sooner due to the well below freezing temps and nowhere to go to stay warm. 20-30 minutes later, the tech called and said they were very busy and it would be another hour at least until someone could get to him. He had to walk to a Walmart, buy a battery and put it in himself. I repeat...it was 17 degrees outside.
AAA has done more harm than good. Why in the world would you not be set up to handle busy times with an adequate amount of contacts to service your customers, esp in a busy metropolitan area?? We don't live in a cornfield, and heaven help you if you do. You are better off just paying out of pocket to get decent service. AAA is supposed to be the best at this but they are not. After a Ford certified mechanic inspected the car it was found that the oil filter was loose. The mechanic felt this was very suspicious and unusual. I don’t think it is the lack of participating garages that causes the long wait. I think it is the tow truck or service truck drivers. They have a two hour window so they take their sweet ass time and leave their garages within the time that it takes to get to the vehicle.

My disabled son was in a car accident in Newport, MI on I 75. I called Triple A for a tow to my daugther's home which was 20 miles away. I spoke with someone name Linda. She was rude. She acted as though I could not call and request the two when the membership is in my name. She spend about fifteen minutes questioning why my son could not call. Next, she ask for an address. After giving her an address, she stated, I was only allowed a tow up to 10 miles. I told her, "I am a plus member and can have a tow up to 200 miles." In a very nasty tone, she stated, "It didn't matter." I could only get a tow up to 10 miles. I told her, "As a plus member, I was told that tow are up to 200 miles." She said, "In summer weather." Well, there is no information on any pamphlet that had on in summer weather. This is misleading to get members to upgrade. They offer services but when the service is needed, the member is out of luck.
Linda asked for an address within 10 miles. I told her, "We are out of state. We do not know an address within 10 miles." I asked her for an address. She stated, she could not give me an address. Meanwhile we are on the freeway. I asked for a supervisor. Linda stated, no supervisor was available. She put me on hold with music. We were just in a car accident in another state.
Linda came back on the phone after 3 minutes and ask for an address again, I told her to tow it to an approved Triple A facility within the 10 miles. Linda said, she could not. "How am I supposed to get the car towed then." Linda said, she was sorry. There was nothing she could do. I asked if, I paid would I get reimbursed. Linda stated, no but she was sorry again. I asked, why do they advertise these services if they do not offer them. She wanted to argue. This was unreal. We are in a car accident and need assistance for a company that suppose to offer services at a paid price.
I asked for a supervisor again. I was put on a sixteen minute hold before hanging up. I called back and was put on hold an additional 12 minutes hold before hanging up again. I called back again. A tow truck came and I said, I was on the phone with AAA trying to get a tow. He took the car and called. He was able to get through. He gave me a location where he could tow until I get resolution from AAA.
I called AAA the next day, they still refused to tow the car. The car was towed to a place and we cannot find the car. We had personal belonging in the car. Called again, The service was extremely poor, unprofessional, long hold times, and uncaring customer service representatives, and misleading services that the company does not offer. If you are traveling and involved in an accident this company will not render the services that you paid for. Nor provide any kind of information for a safe location. This company is a joke! They offer false advertising. They do not deliver on the supposed services. Don't waste your money with AAA. Pay for the services with your car insurance or cellphone.

I was very disappointed after 5 plus years of being a loyal customer, this company decided to raise my rates $150 dollars per month after getting into my first at fault accident (no vehicle damage or injury, dislodged a review camera) at the beginning of last year. I thought the reason people purchased insurance was to cover these things. I had no idea a singular fender bender no injuries or car body damage could cost me this much. Long story short I decided to cancel services and was quoted $90 per month with Progressive and Allstate. Very dissatisfied with AAA.

Poor service, long hold times, ignorant people reading off a script. Manager couldn't do anything but say there was nothing they could do. Ended up calling a tow truck myself. My son joined AAA in March of 2017, His membership was up on March 1, 2017. When you sign up with the computer there is a very small print with it. Check off to auto remove. He never saw it. He paid for the year, He had his identity stolen with the Equifax problem and his debit card was compromised and he got a new card with a new number and never changed the member payment information. The other day he checked his checking account and there was a charge from AAA and it was a month earlier than when the membership was to begin.
We found out that AAA has a right to get your credit card information from VISA and withdraw, charge or do as they please because they signed a contract with them. My son again had to close his Debit card because this was an unauthorized because he added towing on his car insurance and it was less then what AAA charges.
He called and asked them, "How did you get my new card number?" They said they have the right to do so. He asked, "Why did you charge me a month ahead of time," They said they have the right to do so. According to Federal Law they can not charge you without notifying you. They claimed they did but we did not get email on that nor did we get USPS Mail on this.
When my son put me on the phone the call center woman said, "I know the law." I asked her if she is an attorney and she said yes. That was when I asked her for her Attorney ID number and for which state to verify that she wasnt lying to me and she hung up. We finally got them to agree to return the money but forgot to tell my son it will take 2-5 weeks before he receives the money. That was not acceptable. Again.I was placed on the phone. The rep said she can escalate the payment back to 2-3 days. Quite a difference, Meanwhile because of this my sons bank account went into the negative because of the overpriced membership of close to $200. His insurance company is only charging him $50.00 more for towing per year and they tow it to where you want it towed. Do not give AAA any cards, do not use them. They can keep your information for years... They are the part of this Black Web and stealing money.

I hope my experience with AAA will help others to be most careful when you sign up for online services. When I purchased my car insurance with AAA, the definition that I understood for “excluded driver” is that my children, who at the time were living with me, were not allow to drive my car. Around a year after, my daughter moved out to her own place and insured her cars also with AAA. At the moment she purchased her insurance the agent never informed her that she was an excluded driver in her mom's car insurance and because she was obtaining her insurance with AAA, she can be removed from the excluded list and added to my car insurance for free as part of the AAA insurance member benefits.
On the other hand, because I wanted to be sure that my car insurance payment was on time, I signed up for the online paperless services. For three years my car insurance was renew automatically and nobody informed me via email or letter that my daughter can be added to my car insurance policy for free. Last November 21, 2017 my daughter got involve in an car accident while she was driving my car to pick up her son from the park. A third car cause the accident and the second car hit my car. While my daughter was calling the police, she had to keep calming my two years granddaughter that was scare and crying due to the door window glass explosion.
The police didn't show up because they were not people injured. They just instructed her to exchange info with the other two drivers. As a result, the driver who caused the accident didn't have car insurance and run away. The insurance from the second car didn't want to fix my car because was not his client's fault, and my car insurance, AAA, didn't covered because my daughter was an excluded driver. I paid full cover insurance for nothing. When I asked AAA why never was inform that I had to remove my daughter from the excluded driver list, as soon she got her insurance with them, they blamed me. That was my responsibility to do it. They instructed me to fill out a form that is available only in the AAA branch.
When I went to their office I find out that she can be added to my policy because she has the same insurance company than me. Honestly, I am too disappointed because I trusted a company that only cares about profit and has no respect for human life. Now I am driving a damaged car because I do not have money to fix it. I do not have savings because my salary only cover basic living expenses. If somebody likes to find out more info and pictures about this complaint, please do not hesitate to contact me. On Jan. 6th, my family and I were in an auto accident. I was pulling an enclosed trailer when I hit some black ice on Interstate 94. The vehicle and trailer ended up in the median & my SUV was jack knifed and sticking out blocking 1/2 the passing lane at 9:30 pm. I immediately called 911, while my wife called AAA. The first thing we both explained was that we were unable to move the vehicle and we were blocking 1/2 of the passing lane on a busy interstate. The trooper got there quickly, blocked off the passing lane and called a tow truck, while in the meantime, the AAA rep. kept my wife on the phone at length asking multiple questions instead of dispatching a tow truck immediately and then calling her back for further information. My wife repeatedly told the rep that we were blocking the passing lane.
In addition to that, we had to pay an additional $14.35 to cover having the trailer towed. The AAA rep. was still on the phone with my wife (asking her life story) when the tow truck arrived that the state trooper had called. The trooper understandably insisted that we use this towing service because we were in a dangerous situation. AAA never did dispatch a tow truck and couldn't guarantee that they would cover another towing company. They would send out a form that would have to be filled out and mailed back in requesting reimbursement - again with no guarantee of reimbursement. Luckily, Progressive covered the entire towing bill, so I threw that form away.
Today, I called to have them remove the extra $14.35 for the service they never provided and they flat out REFUSED! I talked to 2 different people and got "we don't give refunds for AAA". I couldn't believe it! I immediately cancelled my membership. I want nothing to do with a company who has zero integrity or customer service!! They deserve less than a 1 star rating!!!

Been a member of AAA for 30 years and I rarely use them. My son’s car broke down at 6 pm due to an alternator. Estimated time of arrival was initially 40 minutes. Flatbed came at 9:10 pm. Why? Because AAA is losing all their contractors and doesn’t have the fleet. Get your act together because this is a joke of an organization. No 17 year old should be stranded for 3 hours because a company (who we pay annual PLUS services for) can’t operate effectively and have enough tow trucks in place. No wonder why you have a 1.2 rating.

AAA recommended garage in Nashville after car stalled several times; would be running, then engine would cut off. After waiting several minutes, car would start back up and go a few more miles, then engine would cut off again. Afraid to drive car any distance as traffic was heavy. Called for tow and asked for recommendation both for wrecker and garage. Not only did they send a poorly trained wrecker driver who requested payment from "Premier" customer who should not be paying anything, but the garage kept the car for more than a week, claiming he needed parts from the Volvo dealership and could not get them. We rented a car from Enterprise for one week, picked up the car seven days later, after paying $1,379 only to drive it a short distance when the engine cut off again.
The car had not been properly repaired. The car was returned to the same mechanic and he admitted he did not know how to work on a Volvo and we should take it to the Volvo dealer on I-65. How safe was that? Drive this car on I-65 with it cutting off every few miles, requiring the driver, my granddaughter, to pull to safety and restart the car to only drive a few more miles. I have tried numerous times to talk to AAA Member Resolution Office (HA - there is none) and cannot even get the courtesy of a return call to talk with me. I have called almost daily since the second week of January. I was told Hosea had the responsibility to call me but he is never at work. They supposedly take a message for him to call me but I never get a callback. I have now called for the name of the "head" of AAA to no avail. Can you help me find a name and telephone number of the person with whom I should discuss my complaint.
No. 1 AAA should never have recommended this garage mechanic to us, No. 2 Not only did I have to pay a ridiculously high "repair" bill which did not happen, but No. 3 we had to rent a car for two weeks while this mechanic played around with the car. After we got it to the Volvo dealer, the master mechanic said the repair made had nothing to do with the engine cutting off and he had no idea why it was replaced. No. 4 Someone should be seriously disciplined for not returning customer calls after a serious complaint such as this has been reported. No. 5 Why are names/numbers not available for management staff? Can anyone help me???

Was promised the longer I have insurance with them, the lower my auto insurance would be each year. After couple of years, patiently waiting, no savings. Now several years later, still no tickets, no accidents, it's higher than last year, and the year before that. Now AAA wants to charge me a early termination fee when I didn't renew and because I got insurance somewhere else that was way cheaper with the same premiums with uninsured motorist. As is the case with so many others, I have had nightmare experiences with AAA. On January 10th, Franklin County Ohio, at 4:45 pm my transmission went out. I was told it would be no longer than 2 hours! It was 62 degrees with no rain, snow or other inclement weather! Two hours ultimately turned into over FIVE HOURS! Remember the weather was ideal this day. I called three more times and was told various stories. At 4 hours I was told the truck that had been assigned to me was pulled by someone in the call center! This person kept me on the line and ultimately made sure a truck was dispatched. One of these "experts" actually told me that responses were not affected by such things as snow!!! The problem with AAA is that they are maximizing their profits by minimizing the number of trucks they pay to provide the service.
Franklin County has hundreds of tow trucks, as I'm sure other municipalities have also, that could be available if AAA would pay them to respond to people who have paid good money for what is unfortunately terrible service and clearly a dereliction of their duty to provide safe and timely responses. Isn't it time that this organization be investigated for the business practices they are employing. People's lives depend on this service. That is what we pay for. They're ok for trip tics, but I know from experience, the reliability of their field response is questionable at best. They say calls have priorities. But this does not address the lack of available tow trucks they pay to respond. I had to call for help two days later after repairs failed and I waited, in good weather, for over two hours and finally paid to have another service tow my vehicle. They responded in just under 30 minutes!

"No, no problem," he said he would help me and make sure both me and my bike would be stable before he let go to straighten the bed.
Despite my better judgment (I really wish I had just told this fool to go home) I decided to give it a shot. WELL, we push my 500+ pound bike up his inclined, wet ramp, and just before I get a chance to grab the brake lever, he let go and both me and my bike go tumbling down. Called AAA around 9:30 because my keys had gotten locked in my car while I was delivering pizzas. They said they would dispatch someone soon and would let me know when someone’s on the way. (Keep in mind I live in Ohio and it’s the dead of winter and I wasn’t home.) I had someone come so I could sit in their car and wait so I wouldn’t freeze to death. 1 hour passes no call. 2 hours pass no call. 3 hours pass no call. We decide to call back. 4 hours pass no call. We’re still on hold. 5 hours pass no call. Still on hold. At this point we decide to call another tow truck company. 6 hours pass no call from AAA and we’re still on hold.
The tow truck company came. Got there at 3:45 in the morning around the 7 hour total waiting mark and charge me $175 to unlock my car for me which took them 2 mins to do. Fast forward to this morning at 12 I get a call from AAA saying that they are at the address I had submitted and can’t find me. My husband and I have had our car stranded on the side of the road since 5:30 this morning. Our first call to AAA was at 5:45. The operator searched and called four different towing companies looking for someone to come help us. After waiting almost two hours, AAA called back to inform us they still hadn't found a towing company available due to weather. Understandable. We got family to come bring us home. Throughout the day we have called and checked status of tow trucks. It wasn't until a Twitter post that we finally made progress and AAA miraculously found an available truck. They told us the tow truck was dispatched and would meet us from 1:45-3:45.
Our car is over 30 minutes from our house so we decided to head over to the stranded car to wait. At 3:50 when no truck had arrived, after waiting another hour and a half we called AAA once again. This operator informed us that there wasn't even a dispatched truck yet and didn't know when it would happen. Now we are driving back home until we hear from a tow company we called ourselves since AAA is USELESS. I know weather conditions were bad (this morning) and trucks can't immediately be dispatched, but when you call and say a truck is dispatched with a 2 hour window, it needs to be a fact. We will be paying over $140 to a company to get our car after hours of being yanked around by AAA. A day wasted. I'm glad after 9 years and 4 members on the account with gold plus cards, our money is well spent when in need. It's been real AAA, but you won't have this family's business any longer.

I told her to find shelter so she doesn't freeze to death and to continue holding while I tried on my end. I called AAA from my office and was greeted with the same recording and put on hold. After twenty minutes or so - with no answer - I hung up.

I have had AAA roadside assistance for 7 years now. I have called them 3 times to utilize their services and the first 2 times I was told they cannot be of assistance. Fast forward to today, when I decided to overlook that and had what can only be described as the worst experience with a company ever. I noticed my car had a flat tire while out of state. I called once and reached the South Jersey office who transferred me to the MidAtlantic office, where I was promptly hung up on. I was only on hold for 7 minutes and someone else was on their way out to help put on my spare. Since it was 7 degrees outside the lug nuts could not be removed from my rim. So I called AAA again, where I was on hold for 45 minutes for MidAtlantic after being transferred there from South Jersey. After talking to the call center, she transferred to me, which resulted in me being hung up on again.
My friend was on her cell phone at the same time and was on hold for 35 minutes. I called the South Jersey office back and spoke to a very nice man Who went above and beyond to get me connected to a dispatcher without having to be on hold at all. He also told me that MidAtlantic was the wrong office to be connected to in the first place. All in all, it took me an hour and 50 minutes to get connected to a helpful person there. I am cancelling my membership. I have never been so disgusted.

I for one am in a complete and utter state of disdain at the series of events that have taken place in relation to a service call for a tow I placed on 01/06/2018. At approximately 4:32 pm I placed a call for a tow for a flat tire where my child Jamaal ** was a passenger with my brother Robert ** as the driver/owner of the vehicle. The car is a black 2010 Chrysler 300. I received an ETA of approx. 6:59p. I received a call from a Dale with Davenport at approx. 5:49 to let me know that he was 15 mins away. I provided my brother with this information and let him know not to leave so that they would be able to get the keys.
At approx. 6:01p I received a call from a Kenny (not knowing at the time that he was with the same wrecker service). He asked which tire was flat and the location of the vehicle. I stated to him that I had just received a phone call from someone who stated they were almost there. He told me that he was aware, and that they were with the same company but drove two different types of tow trucks (one a flatbed and the other the traditional one. He (Kenny) told me he was just verifying to see which truck would be better suited for the tow. And that the flatbed that Dave was driving should be fine. After this call at approx. 6:13 my brother called me to let me know they had arrived. He gave them the keys and was on his way. I told him I would let him know it made it to its destination safe.
Now here is where the story starts to turn to the horrible turn of events that lead me to write this formal complaint. At approx. 7:10 pm another guy called from a different wrecker service asking the location of the vehicle and verifying info on it. I politely told the gentleman that there had already been a company dispatched that picked it up. Left that at that. Then later at approx. 10 pm someone gets to the location the car was supposed to be towed to and it’s not there. So at this point I’m panicking, thinking of all the bad things that may have happened in the course of four hours. So I began to call the numbers that had called me earlier from the wrecker service that was supposed to have possession of the vehicle.
First I call Kenny at ** (10:06p) who said that yea he remembered and it was Dave with the Flatbed and he would call the dispatch and give me a callback. Then I received a call at 10:11p from a lady that was dispatch with Davenport wrecker service. She advised me that the gentleman that towed the vehicle had mechanical issues with the truck and someone had to come out and fix it and she didn’t know he had not completed the call at the time of servicing the truck. Said he was dispatched to do a few other light calls due to high need in the area. She advised me that he would be dropping the vehicle off at its destination within 45 min.
So at this point, I’m upset but relieved that we have found the car and it will be dropped off soon. One would think we were out of the water. Then at approx. 10:23 I receive a call from AAA gentlemen and asked if I had canceled a call. I thought back over the series of events and stated yes, believing him to be referring to the 3rd call I had received from the gentleman that was not with Davenport. That was that. So then here it was nearly an hour and a half later since I talked to Davenport Dispatcher and still no vehicle. So I called them at 11:33p and got a gentleman on the phone by the name of Robert with Davenport that tried to piece together the series of events that happened before he even arrived. Between the time of 11:33 pm and 11:57p we had approx. 5 calls between us, back and forth. Him (Robert) trying to collect info on what the truck looked like, the race of the driver, the name on the truck, etc.
Most of these things I could not answer because I personally was not there. So I called my brother on 3 way. He explained that the gentleman was **, he didn’t remember what color or the name on the truck but he had provided the driver with the keys. At this point my brother is fuming and says a few choice words in relation to the situation, not directed towards the driver. I end the 3 way call and call and speak with Robert. He advised me that he spoke with Dale who was standing beside him and he didn’t pick it up and that he would call and Kenny state he didn’t pick it up either. He said the only thing he knew left to do was call AAA himself to try and figure out what went wrong. At this point I am livid and I decide to call AAA myself to figure out what was going on and where the vehicle was. Gave the lady the whole backlog of what was going on and she transferred me to someone else in dispatch.
Now I’m like, here we go, how many times am I going to have to repeat the same story? I spoke with a Gabrielle/a who had a very condescending, uncompassionate tone to her voice. She stated she would place me on hold to do research. After a long while of holding she comes back and stated the call was canceled and that I may need to check with highway patrol because there may have been a sticker on the vehicle and they could possibly tell me the location. Unbeknownst to her within the time she had me on hold I had already reached out to my brother to have him to drive to the original location of the vehicle to see if it was still there. And lo and behold it was, with the keys sitting on the seat. On the side of the road of a public highway where anyone could have had access and done anything to or with the vehicle.
So I let Gabrielle/a know that the vehicle was still there and asked her why it hadn’t been picked up. She stated that the call was canceled. I exclaimed to her that I did not cancel the call, she said a male figure canceled the call (in a way as to say it doesn’t matter who did it, it was done). Then l was placed back on hold for another long amount of time. She came back unapologetic, stated they had dispatched someone else and they would be on the way to get the call and would Jamaal Murphy, my son be there. I told her it was freezing outside and there would be no way my child would be there waiting on a tow truck at this time of night. She stated she would have to check to see if this was acceptable being policy is the member would have to be there. Placed me back on hold then came back and told me they were en route.
At this point I didn’t appreciate the service I had received and asked to speak to a supervisor to express my disdain for the entire situation to include Gabrielle/a level of customer service and professionalism. I spoke with Garlinda (the stated Supervisor) who was not fully told the circumstances of the situation, because when I expressed to her that there had been a truck there, and that’s why he left. It all made more sense to her. She then told me that the driver that the car was left with had a problem loading the vehicle and called another driver to come pick it up. Between those things she wasn’t able to place why the vehicle was left. I expressed to her, as I am about to express to you that. I as a member never received a call to let me know there was an issue with loading the vehicle, nor did I receive a call letting me know they decided to leave the vehicle for whatever reason they did.
She (Garlinda) explained that it would have been customary for me to receive updates when problems had arisen with the tow. She relayed more compassion, and understanding for the events that had taken place. Told me they were sending someone out and would be there within 15 minutes, who to my dismay was Davenport wrecker. It would be Robert and to make sure my brother would not cause any arguments. So Robert did pick the vehicle up and my brother awaited his arrival and apologized for his language earlier and he told him he understood why he was upset. These time of Roberts’s arrival was approx. 12:51a. The car made it at around 1:40a. I was on the phone with AAA approx. 45min on the last call. After this complete recall of the entire debacle, it goes without saying that I am displeased, with the service in its entirety.

You have to contact AAA and ask for the option for a different membership level in order to be able to select it. I also noticed my husband had been changed to a dependent less than age 25. I was not able to correct this myself and was again forced to contact AAA to make the change for me. If I had not caught that, I can only imagine AAA denying a claim based on false information. It seems these actions by AAA should be against consumer laws. I feel they are both underhanded ways to take advantage of consumers who don't know any better. Disappointed to say the least!

I thank them and I waited. 90 minutes come and go, and no tow truck. I called him back they proceeded to tell me it will be coming at 7:30! By now it's dark, and freezing and I am alone in a parking lot! I finally got tired of waiting, and I called my daughter to come pick me up! I called AAA and ask them why they couldn't even give me a courtesy call, and the rep proceeded to tell me that it was the wrecking companies fault!
I promptly let her know that I don't pay the Wrecking Company I pay them! The last time I call them last year I needed air for my tire. Tow truck driver shows up and he didn't even have an air compressor! This is unbelievable! I have AAA my children have AAA and my parents have AAA and we have all been let down at one time or another! Be better. Your service is below marginal! I brought my papers to the SB office then she said the system was off and asking for another $97 unless I brought the other receipt from the Victorville office I went to earlier. I came back Again and was told I still couldn't get my tags since the DMV had a hold on it for my insurance proof. 2 hours later the DMV tells me I paid it months ago and would clear it for me right away. This has been the worst day of my life!

Twelve hours and several painful phone calls later into their customer service area, they have still not arrived. They are no longer needed, however, because an oiler tractor trailer truck has since crashed into our truck, lost control, and rolled over into a ditch, ** down all traffic. My name is sister Kathy (Kathleen), and I was with one of your customers (pretty soon ex) on Sunday, December 31, 2017. She had received a call from the hospital to come because of a dying family member. She fetched me on the way, and we were on 290/71 heading west between William Canon and the Y, two major intersections in Austin, Texas, when she felt her tire go flat. OOPs. She called AAA to come help her, and she explained that she was attempting to get to the hospital to a dying family member. She asked that they send someone closer than the normal thing of going down the list as to who is next. They said they would dispatch someone immediately. They sent her an app where she could see where the driver was. She was disturbed as I because they sent the guy from east Austin. NO! Oh well, let him come.
Petty soon, her phone rang, and the tow truck driver said that he was on the way. He was at Ben White and 35. Okay. Then he called back. He could not find us. We were sitting right on the side of a major highway between the coordinates she had given - again two major intersections in this town. How could this be he could not find us. She did get testy with him and spoke sharply to him, but she was never rude. He kept telling her he needed better coordinates than she was giving him. What more do you want? Then he called AAA and told them he was not coming.
My friend called back, and they said they would send someone who could find her, but then they called back and said because she had yelled at the two truck driver, he felt threatened by her (5 foot woman, 120 pounds, and 67 years old - not too threatening), and they could not send someone else because she had yelled at him. At that point, she called him back and told him she was going to report him to his boss. Probably it will not do any good. When did you start taking the worker's word over the customer. Obviously, you don't need too many customers.
The police came and changed the tire. Thanks to the Austin Police Department for being a good sport and understanding about a family emergency. I live in New Orleans, and I am here visiting for the holidays. EVERYONE in New Orleans is going to here this story. I have been to church, and everyone I talked to heard the story. Okay so, on Christmas Eve, someone ran into my brand-new car. Luckily she's been really cooperative and everything has gone fairly smoothly, all things considered. I had to call my own insurance company, which was lackluster - they were courteous, but not exactly friendly. Then I had to also call AAA, because that's the insurance the person who hit me has.
MY REPRESENTATIVES FOR AAA WERE SO NICE! First I spoke to Tyler, who was really friendly but had to transfer me to the claims department. After the (very brief) wait, I had the pleasure of speaking with Aiesha. She was extremely kind and thoughtful. When she asked for my license plate number and I said I didn't even have one yet, she immediately said, with genuine concern, "Oh no, you didn't even have your car that long before it happened! I'm so sorry," or something like that.
It was generally a quick and painless process to file the claim - I think it only took like 10 minutes, versus every time I call my insurance company it takes literally an hour full of weird and often fruitless questions to get anything done. After getting 4/5 off and getting defeated by the last one, I make the call. 11:00AM - They tell me that someone will be there at 1:30PM (I had no problems with this). 1:30PM - The ETA disappears in the app, so I give them a call and was put on hold for a half hour. After waiting to speak to a human they tell me that someone will be there at 4:00PM.
4:00PM - The ETA changes to 23hrs (not a typo). So I call again and was put on hold again for a half hour and they told me the tech would be there within the hour. 5:00PM - As the ETA winds down to single minutes, out of nowhere it resets to 1hr 27min. I didn't call this time because I was just going to give up on their crappy service. 6:30PM - Finally a tech arrives in the area but for some reason was across the street in traffic about to drive away from the area where my car was. I had to get out of my car and flag him down before the traffic lights turned green or else my car would be stranded.
6:45PM - The tech was grumpy as all hell and was telling me that his boss was ignoring his work requests. Great management guys. The tech eventually saw that I was just a normal person in a crappy situation and cooled down and even offered me a cell phone charge (after my battery drained from using the app, calling, and looking up alternative solutions). The tech was successful and got the tire on after about a half hour of work. All in all I would say use AAA if you don't mind waiting 8 hours for roadside assistance and talking to recordings rather than people.

After leaving Christmas Eve service, I noticed my car had a flat tire. I called AAA. I have been a member for over 30 years. At 8:40 pm I was told it would be 45 minutes or less and that I would receive text message updates and a map where truck was located. I didn't receive any updates. I called after twenty minutes just to get update. The call taker said ooohhh, then nothing. After a few seconds he said the driver had 4 calls, but after an unlock I was next. After an hour I called again. This time they told me that it would be at least 90 more minutes. We had been offered help after the original call. We said we were fine AAA is on the way. We finally received help, not from AAA. Very disappointed.

Needed a tow as ABS light came on - Called and waited on line after many questions. Finally got a live person who asked a thousand questions and none that had to do with getting me service. After 10 minutes I said, "Wouldn't it be helpful if I gave you my gold membership number then you would have all the information in front of you?" She called a tow truck which I asked her to route a different company and she said she would route the company I knew. After waiting 50 minutes on the side of a road I called the tow company myself and they never received the call.
I called the other company she was routing it to and they received the call but were changing shifts at the time and it would be 20 more minutes. The company is located 2 minutes down the road. Finally got there and insisted he could fix it. I said I have already called my mechanic and would like the tow to his shop. I rode with him in a filthy truck. Terrible experience with AAA which I have had for years and the tow company.

My son was stuck at college with a dead battery. Got a jump from a local garage. Driver told him that it was the alternator and to get it to the garage he worked for. He was quoted $600 just for labor or he could have it towed home for $250. The garage mechanic suggested buying a AAA membership and that would cover the tow to get it home and fixed by our own mechanic. Needless to say, AAA didn’t kick in for 10 days, of course. So we paid the $250 to get the vehicle home. AAA, which did NOT even cover the tow, claims that a service call was used and covered $218 of the tow. That’s a LIE!!!
We paid $250 in cash. When I called AAA to address this concern, I was given the runaround and told I couldn’t cancel my membership that I’ve had for a whole 6 days. And that I would get nothing back if I did because I used more in benefits than what I paid for the membership. I used NOTHING!!! AAA didn’t even exist in my possession when the initial call was made. They covered $000000 of the tow! I’m not happy about my experience with AAA at all! What a crock. I’m better off paying cash for any service I need. The most worthless, useless company I’ve ever encountered.

First let me say that I do not fault the actual service provider, but I do fault AAA for having an inadequate number of operators and roadside assistance contractors. This morning I tried to start my vehicle to go to work and found the battery completely drained. I could not determine where to connect the 4th jumper cable to my vehicle (manual said not to the battery, but the engine block is completely covered). Since the battery was older, so I decided to call AAA and go ahead and have them replace it instead of jump starting it. I called at 9:42 a.m. and was on hold for at least 10 minutes. The recorded messages said I could submit my service request online, but when I tried to set up an account after downloading the app and then online, I was unable to get past the Captcha security feature. I tried at least 10 times, and the app/website would not accept my correctly typed entries.
I called the roadside assistance number again and waited on hold for another 10 minutes. I was finally able to report my problem, and after hanging up, a local tow service contractor called me back to confirm my information and say that someone would be out within an hour (around 11:15 a.m.). Guess what? It was almost 12:40 p.m. when the service technician arrived. He had had numerous calls already, and the one before me involved replacing the battery in a Chrysler Sebring (apparently the whole fender and other parts need to come off to get to it). While I was waiting I went ahead and unbolted the battery holder and the 2 battery terminals to speed up the process. I am thankful that I was not stranded at night in the middle of nowhere! The work was finally finished at 12:55 p.m. Ridiculous!!! I do not appreciate paying almost $150 a year for this type of emergency service. I have rarely used my AAA service and have been a member since 1990.

I have been a member for 16 years and never needed the service, broke down this year in another state, well found out that if not in NC they refer you to a roadside service in that state. You may not have the same coverage as what you are currently paying for, also you do not get the same service. I waited almost two hours for just a call and this was at 10:00 at night. Needless to say after 16 years we will not be renewing our account. Yes the discount on the hotels are nice but with so many offers on the internet these days and Hotel Reward Cards if you don't have the Motor Club service it is not worth it.

Dead battery, called AAA. Wait time of at 10 minutes each time I had to call. I was in Oshkosh WI on the main street with 2 small children. Initial wait time of 40 minutes was given. This was a 5:45 in the evening. I said that was unacceptable and asked for it to be expedited. About 20 minutes later I got a call saying the tow service with be another 40 minutes. Again said it was unacceptable and asked for the call to be expedited. After waiting about an hour & 15 minutes I called AAA again. Went through the menus and wait on hold for at 10 minutes. They checked on the company they called for a tow and said my call had been cancelled and it would be another 40 minutes.
I asked AAA to call me back and check with me that the tow services was really coming and they refused. In all I waited 2 hours and 15 minutes for the tow service to jump start my car. The only words the guy spoke to me was "I need to see your AAA card". I had a 3 & 4 year old crying because they were cold. I called AAA the next day and spoke to customer service. Everyone is very sorry, don't understand what went wrong. Turns out for the Oshkosh WI area they have contracts with 2 service companies. This is a metro area of over 50,000 plus outlying areas. The service they called for me was 15 minutes away.
I checked on my phone and there was 2 24 hour services one a mile from my location the other 2 miles. Long story short, I don't know why I would ever pay AAA again when I can do this better myself. AAA customer service said they would credit me with a year extension, but not the associate on my plan because they weren't inconvenienced. I told them they don't have a service worth paying for.

I'm reaching out to anyone with a similar experience. Recently I discovered a letter in my mail from the DMV indicating my drivers license would be suspended because a vehicle in my name was involved in an accident and didn't have liability insurance. OK here's what I know for sure after speaking with DMV: The accident happened approx 150 miles from my home at around midnight in Los Angeles. While the motorcycle in question somehow shares all the same information as a motorcycle I own (i.e. plate, VIN) the make of the motorcycles are completely different. We're talking dirt bike and a Harley. I (a retired vet) was not riding, nor was my "dirt bike" that is also apparently a "Harley" out of my garage, 150+ miles from the accident.
So here's my problem and where I smell a scam. Tripple A can has access to DMV records. From what I'm gathering is AAA can take partial plate information and then go from there. I came home to a letter and now have to request a hearing and will probably have to drive 300+ miles to a courthouse in Van Nuys because AAA forwarded my information to the DMV... The worst part is the information wasn't correct. If the DMV even looked (which they admitted they don't investigate any of the AAA claims) they would have noticed the make/model of the bike was incorrect and forced AAA to verify their information. As is, they can pull up any plate they want and send it to the DMV. Why would this benefit anyone? I'm not 100% sure but shortly after speaking with the DMV, I get a call from a collection service on behalf of AAA for $1100.00
So, I've had several DMV workers confirm this shady company (AAA) was constantly filing bogus or "with error" claims to the DMV who just turns a blind eye and sends out a letter which adds validity to the bogus letter coming from the claims service center (acting on behalf of AAA)... Right? Anyone else fall into this and had to buy your way out or got to hearing? I'm dead serious in that I was living my life where I live and a giant hand came out of the sky and said "Tag! You're it" One last bit about me is I held a high clearance for many years and a mark on my record, unsubstantiated or not will take extra explaining.
I just want to know if I'm just "that guy" or if other people have been victimized by this apparent AAA scam. It's crazy to think AAA can pull up any plate, get your info and report you to the DMV. The DMV will just throw its weight behind the claim and suspend your license, unless you prove you had insurance, or request a hearing or pay a fine. Crazy to think anyone can become Triple A victim!

My battery was dead on a cold night in September. I called AAA and was told we used all of our calls and that the service for charging the battery was going to be close to $80.00. The fact is I was stuck in a parking lot with 3 girls in my car waiting for this NICE man to help me. He had to go home to get his cables. It turns out I HAD ALL OF MY SERVICE LEFT and that the lady on the phone had made a mistake.
I put in a complaint with AAA. Every time I called back afterwards...I was put on hold and passed around for an hour at a time. There was only an apology in a letter. No effort for compensation for my trouble. No, "we apologize...we will give a discount for next year." There was none of that. I called AAA to tow the car back to NH. It is a 97 mile tow and the elite AAA claims to have a free tow of 200 miles. This is not the case. I needed to be with the car, which would require a bus fare back to Boston, and pay mileage on the tow IF they chose to approve it. I also needed to take the bus back to NH, I couldn't ride in the truck. "It's a long tow, you need to pay the driver."
I also had joined AAA 3 days prior and needed to wait a 1-2 week waiting period before they would review it. Absolutely appalling customer service and agents are trained to say "NO," instead of "How can I help you in your time of need?" I called AAA at 7:45am and after going through the automated system and waiting on hold for forever. By the time I got off the phone it was then 8:30am. I was told someone could be there by 9:45am. 9:45am comes and goes and no one showed up or called so I call back and ask where a technician is and AAA tells me someone will be there by 10:30am. I say "but someone was supposed to be here already at 9:45am." AAA then rudely tells me "No I just said 10:30am. No one said 9:45am." And then she just hung up on me.
Luckily, I had already told my boyfriend about the situation and he took off from work, drove 30 minutes out of the way to come and change my tire. A technician/service contractor NEVER called me so I would have just been sitting out there all day calling AAA begging for someone to do their job. In the meantime, I talked to a couple ppl who said to take battery to NAPA and have it tested, so I did. I got a print out that said 'bad cell'. I called AAA back, they said because the guy took the battery out of the vehicle the warranty was VOID. WHAT? But it was their people who took out the battery! The guy at AAA told me that information was not recorded in the notes and that the battery tested good... I asked him to send the same company back out to my house because he said the battery was not charged enough for an accurate test and took it out! AAA said it was going to be a cash charge. He stated they didn't want it to get too bad and recommend the oil gasket be replaced before creating a better problem along with the control arms. I allowed the repairs to be done since AAA stood behind company. After, getting the car back notice it has an oil leak. I called and explained before I didn't see any oil now I do. The guy stated to bring it back and they stated it was oil gasket in which it could be because the pan. I took it back for the repair and this time was told to place a cardboard box under the car to watch.
The oil was still leaking and emailed AAA several times for help. Once doing that I waited over a week and no response from AAA after several attempts. I called the 800 number and was told my email got lost in translation. I was told someone would call me back in two days. Well after two days no one called and called them back. I was able to speak with a gentleman that placed the report in but again had to wait for someone to contact me back. Again not called back and I called and requested the person's name that would be handling the issue. It was explained the guy's name was Milton. I was given his direct number and he didn't contact me. He called the shop. They then explain bring the car back and please if there is a continuing issue allow them to take care of it without the involvement basically of AAA. I also spoke with Milton and was told if this repair didn't go right call him back and he would personally assist the guys by looking at the Jetta.
I got the car back and guess what small drops of oil and the company saying it was something else creating the leak. It was the vacuum hose and they sealed the issue. I tried call Milton back and I got his voice mail leaving a message how I was happy they sealed anything because it didn't care of the problem. They also was quick to tell me the issue of an oil leak and not wanting to get worse but actually created one and wanted to seal it. I never got a call back from him either. I called, logged a complaint and they said they won't count this as a service request however I still question why I pay for this service for such a poor response. People were rude except for the tow driver and the person taking complaint. Based on other reviews this is common place and something is wrong.

This morning my kids father broke down on a busy highway with my kids in the car. I called AAA for a tow at 8:00 am and we were told 60 minutes so I went & picked my kids up as it's 90 degrees out. It is now 1:00 pm and a tow truck is still not there. We've called 3 times and each time we're told 10 minutes. The ETA is now 1:20 pm which is a total of 5 hours 20 minutes. So I waited 15 mins and AAA called me back and said they called two locksmiths and I had to wait till Monday because nobody else was open. I told them I was 75 miles away from home in a very bad part of city (The Hood). And I ask could they tow my pickup truck they said no and hung up on me. Can't remove someone online. Have to call their 800 number. Over a thirty minute wait to speak with someone. Had to try twice as I had to hang up the first time as my lunch was over. The second time I was at home and after 45 minutes, I had a live representative. What a nightmare. Well finally they came and the guy right off the bat had such an attitude I wanted to wipe it off his face. I followed him around the car and he opened the hood for no reason and broke the latch. When it went to my mechanic it wouldn't open. I called the ins person in charge of claims and I his supervisor Called me back because he said he couldn't do nothing about it and again same outcome. They get these do jo shops that are no good and they have no reimbursement clause for something like this. And the attitudes are despicable. My husband and I have been a customer of AAA for 20 years, and have not abused the service. Today I had a flat tire and had to wait 2 1/2 hours to get my tire changed. I understand you are very busy but, then maybe you should have more people to work for you. It was absolutely absurd. A man asked to help me and I told him I was calling AAA Roadside Service and they would be here quick. Well quick did not happen. I am going to cancel my card after this experience. It was 88 degrees outside so I had to leave my car running the entire time for the air conditioner and must have wasted a quarter of a tank of gas.
One person told me an hour the next told me another hour. Absolutely ridiculous. I really dont think it is something you should do to person who has done business with you for 20 years. Hire more people to take care of your customers in a timely manner. I am very, very disappointed st AAA. The man that came was extremely nice, it took him all of 10 minutes to change the tire. The phone rep was polite and concerned, and the driver got there in no time and sent me on my way, saying he could hook the car by himself easily enough. If there was ANY flaw, it was that the driver actually got there much SOONER than the agent's prediction. Which is the sort of flaw I'd like to experience more of. Top drawer all the way.

The first week of April I paid in advance for a rental car for mid September. I live in Florida and reserved two cabins in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. I flew in on the red eye, spent the night at my son's in Massachusetts, then went to the Fall River, MA Hertz rental center the next morning to get my car and caravan with my 4 kids and grandchildren to the cabins. Hertz was not open. Three others were also waiting for cars that they had reserved. When they were 45 min late opening we all decided we should go somewhere else. I was told that they opened their doors 1 1/2 hrs late that day.
I had my whole family waiting and reservations and no idea if the place was going to open so I followed the rest and went hunting for a car. I called the nearest AAA office to report what had happened and request a refund. After several calls and emailing documents I was told I would have to come into the office because they couldn't print my emails from my cell phone. After our holiday in the mountains I went into the office. After being there for over an hour they discovered that I was from Florida and said I have to go to the Florida office. I told them I rented a car in MA for my vacation and they assumed that I lived in MA also.
It didn't occur to them that I don't vacation at home where I have my own car and that I may actually be from out of town. I called my hometown AAA and was told that because I rented a car through AAA online they cannot help me. I was told to talk to Hertz. Hertz is ignoring me. Customer service said they will review the case and email me their response. It's now 2 1/2 weeks since the day I first contacted AAA about not getting the car I paid for 6 months ago that I rented through them. They want me to renew my long time membership this month. I don't see that happening. Just try this. Go to AAA online and try to contact someone without intent to purchase. They will talk to you if you're buying something but if you have a problem they don't want to hear about it.

The website states "if you use the membership the day you get it, it will be a $35 non-refundable charge" So thats fine. I'll pay the $35. But no... They tell me that only works if you do it the EXACT same day you bought it... I had tried to use it the very next day. So they say they will only do 3 miles and I had to pay $3 per mile for extra miles. So I needed the tow and the extra would cost me $63.
So I said fine. When the driver gets there (which was the only good part about this whole experience) he suggests to see if there are any recalls on the car that may be free to fix. (The ignition and steering wheel was locked.) There were recalls on the ignition, so he suggested to take it to the dealer (that was not my original destination). So that was only 3 miles away so the tow was covered.
Now the dealer had the car and fixes the original issue because there were recalls... But now they tell me I need a starter and they want $450. Well I don't have that so I call AAA back for another tow to one of their authorized mechanics. Now I'm told that they won't tow the car from the dealer and take it to another shop. BEWARE OF AAA (TRIPLE A) Roadside Assistance Club. I experienced a horrible nightmare with them. They must have some of their workers aiding and abetting with some of the ROADSIDE scam artist. I called for help to get a JUMPSTART on my DODGE CHARGER and they sent an independent person with a portable battery that was no larger than a lawn mower battery and it was dead on arrival. His battery was dead and could not start my car. Rather than admit it, he said it was my starter of just 10k miles. I repeatedly asked him if he was sure. He stated over and over that he knew for a fact the trouble was my starter, rather than my battery. I sent him on his way and called for another "roadside service".
AAA sent the same one lonely, careless and inadequately trained person that towed my car, unnecessarily to a Dodge dealer. They kept it two days and called to tell me it was in fact my battery. My existing battery was still under warranty and could have gotten it replaced for a few dollars. I had to rent a car for two days from Enterprise and AAA told me that it was not covered and it was MY LOSS. I told them that I was a victim of fraud from AAA and they didn't care. I ended up paying about $400.00 because of incompetence of AAA because they could have sent me on my way and I could have gotten the battery replaced for just a few dollars.

There she sat alone waiting on the side of the road for hours and couldn't even go to the bathroom! I had to call 3 times, after the fact, to discuss the situation with another supervisor. He apologized and thought offering a year's membership was more than adequate. WHY would I want to risk another night like that! There was no Peace of Mind like they promise.

$184.97 for a battery that didn't even last a year. They won't warranty the battery. The original receipt doesn't even show what kind of battery was installed or any pertinent info. I suspect they didn't even put the correct battery in the car. NEVER BUY A BATTERY FROM AAA OR USE ANY OF THEIR 'RECOMMENDED' SERVICE VENDORS. HORRIBLE. My family and I will not be renewing with AAA after this incident.

So I, recently contacted AAA for a jump and they sent out some guy who looked like he had no idea what he was doing from some back woods car shop (not actually from AAA). So he pulls out this questionable looking jumper pack and tells me to get in and start the car when he says so. So he pops the hood and says start it up. When I do he jumps back like the car is on fire, the car starts he snatches his cables off, jumps in his truck and pulls off. As I'm going down the road I realize that my speedometer isn't working, so I try my radio and nothing, try my A/C nothing, my wipers won't work or my headlights. So I take it to a shop to find out what's going on. He says that my control module is blown after 2 hrs and $150. He asked if I had any electrical problems and I tell him no. Then he asks the million dollar question “have you had your car jumped recently?”. “Why yes sir about 3 hours ago.”
That's when he informs me that my battery post was scorched and that if a car is jumped wrong that it can blow the control module. Then he hits me with I can probably get one for $1,000 and then it has to be flashed for around another $600 and $100/hr to be replaced. So I call AAA and they act oh so concerned telling me that if I get it fixed then they will reimburse me after collecting all the change in the couch. I inform Dave from AAA that I didn't have almost $2,000 just laying around. So he says “Let me see what I can do”.
After two weeks of back and forth he tells me "Well the guy from the shop says he used a polarity pack and they can't be put on wrong", so I ask him "Have you personally seen this so called pack" and he says “NO”. I say “Well I have and ummmm that jumper pack had duct tape on it sir”. He then goes on to tell me that there is nothing that he can do about it because the guy said that the pack can't be hooked up wrong. So the moral of the story is that AAA does not value its customers and that I will no longer be a member. I will also be taking AAA to court because someone is paying for my car. The guy from AAA's name is Dave so if you get him just know that he'll give you the run around but he won't help you at all.

I have been an AAA member over 30 years and am sad their service no longer works. When calling for roadside service, try 800 222-4357 to get through directly and avoid all those prompts. It is hard to hear if you are on a busy hi way. If you can't get a reasonable time for service, or even an estimate, look up a local towing service instead and use them. Then you can apply for reimbursement. When AAA says they are busy, it's likely it's because AAA calls are very low priority. I've waited over 2 hours already with still no estimated time for service. A local AAA provider estimated they could be here in 10 to 15 minutes. I'm near the center of a major city, the capital of California.

Worst customer service experience ever! Left my husband stranded in the dark in 100+ degree weather for over 2 hours when his motorcycle broke down. Called AAA and 4 different customer service representatives. Advised him to upgrade our Plus membership to include RV/Motorcycle. Representatives tried to upgrade the membership for him over the phone but were unable to. Told him to upgrade online or through the app on his phone, call back, and someone would be dispatched. Upgraded online and called back to be told that someone was dispatched. Called back after no one showed up and then informed there is a 4 day waiting period after upgrading membership. Spoke with a supervisor and asked where I could find the terms and conditions that document a 4 day waiting period.
The supervisor could not find the documentation anywhere. I printed off the terms and conditions of my contract and it does not indicate a 4 day waiting period anywhere within the document. The supervisor refused to dispatch despite not being able to find the documentation about a waiting period and told me I would just have to file a complaint. I asked for an address to the corporate office so I could write a letter and the supervisor advised me the corporate office does not have an address. My husband ended up walking the motorcycle home in 100+ degree weather. Do not waste your money on AAA because they will leave you stranded when you call for service!

Today, I hopped out of my car and accidentally locked it, with my keys, purse, and cell phone inside. I was at a Goodwill Donation Center with a car full of boxes. Luckily, a very nice guy working at the donation center called AAA for me. It was about 2:30 on a beautiful Saturday in a suburb of Buffalo NY. I have been an AAA member for 32 years, and have come to expect service delays on a typical winter day. However, the wait is usually less than estimated. Today, estimate was 90 minutes, and the truck pulled in at 90"!! Driver was apologetic for delay because it was "busy." I don't buy that. It was an AAA truck, probably from the fairly new AAA service center. I was obviously LOW priority even though I am a long time GOLD member. Unfortunately I just renewed my membership. I file a complaint with AAA auto road service and as of today three days later no one has called me to let me know what happened as to why they did not show up. About two years ago my wife had a problem with her car and it took them about four hours to show up. The phone number for AAA is 800-222-4357. If I had to rate them on a scale of 1 to 5 it would be a negative 5.

I had this company for 1 year. When I moved I updated my address information with their representatives twice to make sure they have it. I made automatic payments for the insurance so they got MY payment ON time. Now, when time came to renew my insurance I found it was renewed automatically and they charged me now twice the price of what I was charged before, and it did too come as automatic withdrawal from my bank account. I was softly speaking surprised and I called the company. What I found out was: they sent me a new contract with the "new" quote to the old address despite the fact that I renewed my address with them. They never notified my by email which they use for the promotion of their "product" of service.
The ONLY reason they increased my insurance was the fact that they found out via some oil changing company I used my current odometer reading and decided to increase the rate because I drive more than they would like me to and they also didn't like the new area I lived in as their computer algorithm system rates it as more "trafficky". That's it. So, next day on August 2nd I sat with their local office representative who shrug her shoulders as she was unable to change the price. I found another insurance and called back same day to that same representative to cancel AAA. The representative was ready to do it, she stated that I will receive the refund within 7-10 business days.
Next day I called this representative again to make sure she did cancel my insurance policy with AAA. I guess even this wasn't enough for my personal peace of mind and I called again the 1-800 number to make SURE the insurance is cancelled. I received verbal confirmation among with a new piece of information that my refund was supposed to come in 10-15 business days! The time passes by and checked my PO box. There was no check BUT there was a letter from AAA happily describing my new policy for the next year, generated and mailed out on August 8! I called the company and I believe I sounded slightly surprised again!!!
The representative stated the check was sent on the 7th because it may take them sometimes to sent that long, he stated I should receive the refund by Tuesday August the 22nd the last. The check was sent from the neighbor city of the same California state. I have no clue is to WHY it takes already MORE than 2 weeks to fly in the mail!!! I haven't received it on Tuesday, nor Wednesday, nor next day... I absolutely hate businesses like AAA scam, they simply hold and use your money, that's what it is. They sure enough take your money automatically, but when it comes for them to pay you back they lie, they give false reassurances, they mislead you with every bit of information... And... just call us back... if you don't receive it.

This is by far one of the worst experience since recently rejoining AAA. I called for a tow service located in a well populated area in the San Francisco Bay. The service representative told me that it would take about 45 min. This happened last Saturday around 4:30 in the afternoon. Initially waited about 1.5hrs with no signs of tow truck. Called back and was told that it would take another 1. Got the first seconds text message at 7:28 indicating a service technician was dispatched. 7:08 pm got a third message now indicating that it would be till 8 pm now. And 7:29 got fourth text indicating that it now changed to 8:44.
Called multiple times and the reason was that they were behind on schedule. Finally around 9 pm tow truck show up. I waited more than four 4hrs to get picked up. I wish they would have been honest with me at front and told me that it would take over 4hrs. I could have gone shopping or better yet ran over to get some tool to fix the car on the road. Worst experience ever. I now regret to have switched back to AAA.

Wouldnt even waive the fee for the new service call!
The next guy came out and would only test the battery! I told him the battery was fine, it's the engine that wasnt working. He said he only checks batteries and mine was fine. I then took it to my local gas station. He opened the hood and immediately saw the problem. There is a plug to the air flow that is in front of the battery. The plug was unplugged! Once plugged in, the car miraculously functioned normally. AAA caused the problem and took NO responsibility for causing the problem. I've been a member for 20+ years. This is the last year. She did transfer me to a voice mail of a manager without warning Albert **. They also told me I could try to jumpstart the car but if that didn't work we could tow. I said okay. About 30 min. later a guy shows up in a multi colored Pathfinder with a jumper cable battery, asks me to start the car. When I attempt to, he heard a noise, says I need a tow, jumps in his car and drives away. This year I renewed my membership with AAA and added Motorcycle and RV towing for an extra fee. The first time about four months ago, I called for a tow from my house to the Harley Dealer. They sent me a motorcycle tow truck which was perfect. When the bike was done a few days later, I called for a tow from the Harley dealer, back to my home, they sent a flat bed. Once the driver got to my home and started to loosen the straps on the bike, he didn't do them evenly and dropped the bike on its side. I was furious, luckily, it didn't damage the paint, but it was scuffed. I didn't call in on him as he said he was a new driver, and didn't have too much experience loading motorcycles.
The second time I called for a tow, was about two weeks ago, about 12 midnight the bike had stopped a few blocks from my home. I called in and the representative told me the tow truck driver would be there in an hour and 15 minutes. I asked "Was this for the motorcycle tow truck," and she said "It's for the flat bed, that's what we use for our motorcycles." I told her that there was a motorcycle tow truck that AAA sent and she said "I have no idea what you're talking about," I told her to check my history. She insisted I didn't know what I was talking about. She said Beltran towing didn't have that truck, I explained to her that they had picked up the bike before from my home. After getting nowhere with her I asked if there was any way they could send someone sooner for safety reasons, she said call the police and they can sit with me.
I ended up getting help without AAA assistance and canceled the tow. Just this weekend, I called for a motorcycle tow truck, to driver pulled up, I greeted him, he gets out of the truck, and as he lets the backdown, he says, "I don't know how to load motorcycles." Here we go again, I called AAA Sunday morning to speak to a customer service representative that tells me their drivers are well trained to tow motorcycles, I said think again.
That Saturday night the dispatch of the tow yard Shaun had called to tell me the ETA of the driver, and once the driver left with towing to motorcycle, I called him back and told him his driver said he didn't know how to tow a motorcycle, he said "Oh my apologies." I'm paying all this extra money every year and these people can only tow cars, come on AAA get some well trained and qualified drivers or stop charging us extra.

Today I made a call to bring a couple of concerns to Triple A's attention. The first call I will get to in a moment but it's the second called that I'm more concerned with because I feel this customer service representative was incredibly rude. Her name is Paige and the phone call was made at 2:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. Once I voiced my complaint about the previous call and asked to have it resolved, instead of apologizing for the mistake of the previous employee or showing any kind of understanding or remorse, Paige decides to condescendingly correct me and make it seemed as if I did something wrong.
In my initial concern one of the things that I asked for was to get a refund because I felt that the previous representative was dishonest. Instead of saying I would be happy to void that payment for you, she says something along the lines of "if you cancel it you're just not going to be covered after September 1st". She was very indifferent, noncaring, wasn't even the least bit concerned with the dishonesty of the previous representative I spoke with. I called her out on it as you'll hear in the phone call and I reiterated what I wanted done. Then she tells me "I'm going to contact that call center and see if they can put a void on that payment". This was also the wrong thing to say considering AAA's refund policy. So she said the word "if" knowing that she had no choice but to honor my refund request.
Then she put me on hold for 5 or 6 minutes without getting on the line letting me know that she's still in the process of resolving it. She then gets back on the line and says that the original representative I spoke with voided the payment and that it would be back in my account in 3 to 5 business days. I then ask her first name again. She said Paige and then I said "ok bye." Then she says in an insincere yet robust happy voice "THANK YOU SO MUCH AAA". It felt like a backhanded compliment. No empathy or apology whatsoever. No attempt to elicit a positive response from me whatsoever. Just a dry vindictive customer service experience.
Prior to speaking to Paige I spoke with another representative whose name I don't remember. The call was at 2:22 p.m. Eastern Standard Time and it was with a gentleman. I brought up two concerns first of which was to remove the auto-renewal and I made it clear that I was doing this because "I can't afford to renew this month". He told me that he removed it and then I asked him very specifically "if I am able to extend my membership by upgrading my membership like last time". He seemed to understand me and said yes "it will just be $26 and some change more".
To be clear the question I asked was related to when I previously upgraded my membership from basic to a plus last year. When I upgraded they also extended the expiration date to the day I upgraded. If you listen to the phone call you will hear this gentleman stating that it is just $26 more. Nowhere in the phone call does he state the full price of $127 (+change) like a company is supposed to do when taking someone's credit card information over the phone. Essentially he was dishonest by omission. He didn't verify the amount or ask for my approval. He just charged the card. As a result of these two interactions I will never do business with AAA again. It looks like my good old fashion car insurance company will have to do!

What town are you in?" I was 5 miles from the nearest town. She couldn't help me. Got switched to another rep. Told him I wanted road side assistance to change the tire. He offered a tow truck. I broke down on the side of the freeway in CA about 75 miles from my home in Reno. Was on the phone over 15 minutes with AAA until someone picked up. Was told I was a priority because of my location. Well, AAA didn't show up for over an hour and then I was told that the AAA tow trucks were not allowed to cross state lines or something like that, so I would be towed to Verdi, NV, (which makes no sense because obviously it was across the state line), where another tow truck would be there to tow me the rest of the way. I get to Verdi, there is no tow truck so I wait for about 20 min and decide to call them. I was told that my call had been cleared, they had no knowledge of another truck that was supposed to come so I would have to wait. It took them another hour and a half to get to me in Verdi, and when they finally came, it only took 30 min for me to get home. I have never been so dissatisfied with a company in all my life.
