I had my car down and called Triple A to give me a diagnosis as I thought it was the battery. They told me it was actually the starter and wanted me bad to take my car to the triple A shop. It felt like a scheme. I did take to Chevrolet to get a fair diagnosis and they said it was the battery, and that costed me 145 dollars, which I had as a free service from triple A if they did their job right.

My wife was driving our minivan and The car stopped due to the alternator breaking. I called Triple A for towing numerous times, and they kept telling me they would be there within the hour. They never showed up. I ended up calling my Geico insurance and using my roadside assistance with them, and they were there within 20 minutes. When I called Triple A and told them that this was unacceptable and I wanted a refund for my membership, (being that this was the only time I used my membership and they did not provide the service That they are responsible for), They told me they cannot do that but they will give me $50 off my membership renewal. That is BS and horrible customer service.

Horrible customer service. Do not buy AAA. They stranded us in Ithaca New York for over three hours in the hot sun with cars and trucks zipping by us. When we finally did get a driver, he told us they could have called him anytime and he would have come out! Imagine how we felt! Exhausted and nearly with heat stroke, being told that it was all completely unnecessary!

Imagine how we felt then, earlier this year, when we received a letter from AAA saying they were cancelling our policy...because we use it too much! Well, that's what you're there for! And that's what we pay the premiums for. If I had more time on my hands, I'd bring a case against them but this company is on its last legs anyway. Ask any mechanic shop how much they love AAA today, as opposed to years ago. AAA pays them next to nothing, so they'd rather not be bothered with it and that's the truth. You shouldn't bother with them either after the way they've treated us. Customers for more than 20 years!!!

I closed my account I had with triple A for three years. Auto and renters. Paid. Done and over. Never was late payment and never even used the insurance. Have good driving record. They made three years of payments scot free. All that money they made. So I canceled and got Geico. Which was way better.and cheaper. Geico is way better

Anyways Triple A got mad and kept bugging me not to leave like if they were dictators. Like I had to stay. I was feeling weird like can this really be happening. They're trying to make me stay on their insurance. Really. So what they did to get back at me was file on my credit saying I didn't pay them 125 dollars. Which was a lie because I canceled. And their contract says they give you a grace period and if you don't pay they just cancel and that's it. But they waited a year then filed on my credit saying I didn't pay LIARS. I AM PISSED. THESE DAMN CROOKS THIS IS SAD. AND THEY'RE GETTING AWAY WITH IT. THAT IS THE SAD THING. This is what you get with socialist in California. This is what we will get if we turn socialist. California is screwed. Don't buy triple A insurance. They are liars and thiefs. Don't buy from AAA. Go to Geico. Much better look.

I have been a AAA Premium Member for many years. Recently I drove to Alaska in my RV and experienced a problem (accessory batteries went dead in a 90F heatwave - in Alaska). I claimed for replacement batteries as my generator, fridge, inside lights etc would not work. It was disqualified because the warranty only covers a trip for 45 days (a lot of people make trips exceeding 45 days in their RV). Also the warranty is void if the vehicle is still driveable. None of this is mentioned in the Premium brochure i.e.misrepresentation.

The people who came to my rescue were extremely nice and we had a great conversation in the tow truck. :) I highly recommend them and their services! Thanks for the great service AAA!

I have carried AAA Roadside for 14 years. Previous to moving to the MidWest, we had our home, all vehicles, and all trailers insured with AAA of Southern California. I have continued to carry AAA Emergency Roadside since we travel extensively. I carry AAA Plus, so that if we are out of town there are no issues. We were pulling an empty cargo trailer and it got a flat tire on the Interstate. Cars whizzing by at 70+ mph. No problem, we're covered by AAA, right? First, they put me on hold for more than 10 minutes while they figure out if we have coverage for a tire change on the trailer we are pulling. Then I'm told that in fact we do NOT have coverage, that we would have to carry the AAA PLUS RV in order to qualify.

Again, we insured this SAME trailer through AAA and no one EVER let us know that we have been driving around the country WITHOUT coverage. Had I known I needed to carry an add'l coverage, I would have done so. But for them to just say "Oh, sorry, I know it's 30 degrees and snowing and you're on the side of the freeway, but there's nothing I can do for you...after you have been paying us all of these years and have NEVER called for a service since 2005..." Apparently there is something called Good Sam's that covers road emergencies for trailers and such. I'll be looking into that in future.

I called stranded with a flat tire Friday after Thanksgiving and was told that because my membership expired, it was cancelled. They transferred me to the membership dept. which was closed. I called twice with the same result. The second call I asked them not to transfer me to membership because I was stranded and they were closed, but they transferred me anyway and then the call was dropped. The third call I asked for a supervisor and waited 30 minutes on hold, in 40 degree weather on the side of the road, they don't care.

I told the supervisor I've been a member since 1987 and she told me that my membership was canceled this year and I needed to renew before they would send a truck. There was a time when they would renew by phone regardless of when your account expired but not anymore. I told her the membership dept was closed but that they kept transferring me and she argued with me then said I had to renew online. I told her my phone battery was low and was there any other way. She hung up. When I tried to renew on my dying phone, the screen wouldn't load all the way so I couldn't read what was on the application page. I've been a member over 30 years. Whenever I renew after a brief lapse in payment, I get a new member card with 'member since' the year I just paid, instead of 1987.

I've worked for AAA in roadside service and I know the customer service has gotten very bad since about 20 years ago. They don't care how long you've been a member if you show as canceled in their computer. I ended up using my boyfriend's phone to re-sign up, which was awkward because his phone number has now become part of my account and also the call back number automatically that night, which I can change I know, but I've lost all faith in AAA, they have no customer service anymore.

When I finally got the account going an hour later, while sitting on a dark street late at night, the driver's truck wasn't tracked accurately on the app map, it said he was a minute away but the map showed him miles away. So it was hard to tell where he was or how long it would take. Also, when I asked about a tire place that was open they kept telling me they were all closed, but I found a well known chain store that was open another 2 hours with a quick search online. When the driver did arrive, he was very nice but wasted a lot of time, about an hour, chatting with us while telling us what a busy holiday week it was.

As far as AAA commercials (that are very dated by the way, the same ones from 10+ years ago) they have the highest insurance rates out of all the ones I checked, so their commercials are fake and misleading. Is there no regulation or accounting for false advertising? For a well-known, long established service oriented company, AAA has become useless to me. I could have been mugged or assaulted in the hour I waited in the dark, they only care that your membership money is paid. That is the bottom line. Cancelling and letting everyone I know about my experience. They need to be investigated and audited for false advertising and so we can know if their services have been outsourced, because all signs point to that. AAA is the definition of terrible customer service.

I had gotten stuck in the snow in Flagstaff as well as locking my keys in the car. I called triple A and they were able to help me without any issue (even though I did not have my member policy number at the time). They were extremely helpful and understanding/compassionate. They arrived in under 30 minutes and then took the time to walk out to my car (which was about half a mile out from the paved road). They unlocked my car and then helped to get me unstuck by physically pushing my car out of the snow. I am astounded by the lengths they went to, the speed of the service and just overall professionalism. As a young woman I am so appreciative of the kindness I was shown and the lengths they went to assist me in my troubles.

I am not sure what happened to the quality of customer service with Aaa. I have been a long term member and former employee and always experienced great service until this year. I have had to call Aaa only twice so far this year and both times were an escalation and now has me at the point of cancellation. First time I called I was rudely lectured by John about how I need my membership card to make a call which is not true because you can find my name in the system. Well I guess John didn’t wanna do his job well. I’ll say refused to do is job and treated me as if I was trying to run a scam to get services. I asked for a supervisor to complain and cancelled the service for that time because of how I was treated.

Fast forward to this morning I needed to call because my car wouldn’t stop. After like 100 attempts to get through to the call center I explained to the rep that my vehicle was at the address that my account was under and I had to work so I can be there but I need my car jumped so I can get home from work. Also explained that my boyfriend will be there for the truck. The rep said she couldn’t set the call because the member was not there which is understandable but considering the weather the facts that the lines were busy and I had to get to work I asked for an exception.

After attempting to lecture me I asked to speak to a supervisor. Supervisor Tammy got on the line with an attitude I guess I was interrupting her busy day. And goes on to lecture me about how the service is for the member and that my boyfriend would have to be added for me a member to get service at the address that they have on file as I tried to further explain my situation I was cut off while speaking and rudely chastised as if I am a child about your policies. Aaa I understand your policies and why they are in place however the customer service that exist with your company is why your company will begin to lose business. As I am sure you are aware almost all insurance companies now offer free towing and roadside assistance with the policies. Perhaps you guys will go back to extensive customer service training to ensure that your members are getting the services that they deserve and pay for.

According to the towing company Aaa did not call them until after 7:30 And the towing company dispatched a small company from Sulphur Oklahoma. Over an HOUR from our location. Thus Aaa took over 30 minutes to dispatch a truck from a small town over an hour away. It is now 8:30 and we are still in a car with small children- waiting for our driver - on the side of a highway being passed by semi trucks going 90 - There are hundreds of roadside assistance companies in the OKC Moore and Norman areas- there is no way that AAA is not contracted with someone who could have reached here sooner than this....still waiting.

For a company that was so good at one time it is now just a waste. Called for tow and was told within 2 hours. Waited for call for estimated pick up time, just as i have received before. No call so i got a ride home and promised the property owner that i would get the car out of his lot as fast as possible. As i said no estimated time of pick up, just a call as soon as i got home and was getting ready to head back in that the truck was at my car. Well of course i wasn't.

So they set up another pick up but could give me no time estimate. Called back an hour and a half later and they said they were trying to find a tow company to come get my car and had no idea when. I spoke to a supervisor and we came to the conclusion that AAA could not do what i pay them to so. They COULD NOT HELP ME. AAA has been dumped by most tow companies because they pay crap. So now they get to reimburse me 180 dollars for the tow i got right away. Imagine that. The fact that we have been with them for 30 years and have used it only a handful of times. Shows how little they care about their customers.

There is absolutely no difference in processing cost given that in either case the payment is done electronically, no check or paper to process. Also the payment information stored at AAA have been hacked and fraudulent charges have be made to my Credit Card. This is the only organization that charges a fee for processing a standard electronic payment. It is ridiculous, just another rip-off practice that should be stopped.

We got the runaround for hours—“someone will be out to assess the situation.” At 2 AM (still dressed and waiting) received a call saying we would be placed on the AM list. Today they called and said “policy doesn’t cover the back yard.” Really? No one came to assess the situation. Thanks for leaving us in a lurch without even trying.

I received a text from AAA advising my tow would arrive at 4:19. 4:57 I called for a status and was told the tow truck driver told AAA that I was not with the car and left. I had never left the car and knew this was not an accurate statement.

After a total of 6 calls and three hours a tow truck showed up. I told them I had been waiting for 3 hours and they showed me when the call from AAA had come through to them. AAA hadn't even bothered to contact the tow company until after 6 PM. I was towed a whopping 8 miles, the dues I paid AAA far exceed the cost of a tow without AAA.

We have had AAA Plus since 1984 and during that 35 years I have requested AAA Roadside Assistance only a few times. On 2/25/19 I contacted AAA Carolinas because my wife's car wouldn't start. It was parked in our driveway. All Over Towing came to our house and replaced the battery with a new 6-year battery. On average we drive my wife's car two or three times a week and have had no issues. We drove her car 9/21/19 the day before our flight to another country.

Upon returning to North Carolina on 11/5/19 her car wouldn't start. I contacted AAA Carolinas the next day. All Over Trucking showed up. He asked when we last drove the car and I told him that it was about 45 days ago. He charged the battery but an indicator he connected read 342 and should have read 650. I had no idea what that meant so he told me that it would likely not start again after turning the engine off. I said, "Well, it's good that we have a 6-year warranty."

He informed me that the warranty would not apply since we hadn't driven the car in the past 21 days and that it was a AAA policy. I said, "What if I told you it was last week or the week before last." He said they would look up the mileage on her car when the battery was replaced 2/25/19 and compare that with the current mileage and if too few miles were driven then the warranty wouldn't apply either. He told me pretty much every place where I would buy a car battery now has a policy similar to AAA. He then, and get this, wanted to know if I wanted to purchase another 6-year battery from him! Of course I told him no.

I called AAA Carolinas to complain and the person I talked to told me what he told me. I called an Auto Service business here in Greensboro, NC. That person told me they don't have 6-year batteries, however, they do have 5-year Interstate batteries and that the warranty would apply whether we drove the car or not: the first 2 years free replacement; the next 3 years, it would be prorated. They also offered to drive to our house 5 miles away, charge the car battery, then I would drive the car to their business, all at no cost to us. They told me the only issue was with the battery and nothing else. After 35 years, we will NOT be renewing our AAA Plus membership at time of renewal 4/30/2020. And to think AAA's slogan is "Peace of Mind!"

I always thought that AAA was supposed to be a really good service to have so I signed up for it. Well, I found out that it is a big scam. I signed up for the Plus plan and the representative had me thinking that it was gonna be something that I could really benefit from. Roadside assistance was my biggest interest since I do have a kind of older vehicle (2010). I did end of having to call a few time for minor instances such as flat tires. My last service call was for a dead battery. When I spoke with the first representative I was informed that my battery could be replaced.

At the time I didn’t have enough money to pay for a battery and I asked if it was possible to be billed for the battery replacement and she said “oh absolutely we can do that”. So I scheduled for a service engineer to bring the battery and install it. He arrived and proceeded to replace the battery but first informed me that it would cost $168. I told him that they said that they would bill me. He said, "That’s impossible. We don’t bill for the batteries." I called and spoke with his supervisor and he rudely said the same thing. I called the toll free number and was put on hold and the rep said that they never bill for batteries.

Ok, by then I’m really heated so I called again and spoke with a supervisor who finalized the fact that they don’t bill. She informed me that she would listen to the original conversation where the young lady misinformed me. She did listen to the recording and heard the rep say what I had told them from the beginning. So I got an embarrassed apology and the tech left me with a dead battery. This was such a bad experience for me. I was misrepresented and informed and no one seemed to care. They are rude and obnoxious on the phone and a really don’t think they care. Horrible experience so I cancelled my membership. I immediately added her to the policy. Then AAA informed us that there is a 48 hour waiting period so the additional membership fee just paid was useless. At that point, had to pay the emergency towing service fee not covered in order to get towed. Vehicle towed to repair shop. If we knew adding her to membership would not have precluded the emergency roadside fees, we would not have added her. Most importantly, AAA has shady business practices to not honor a spouse on same vehicle.

The car broke down and they recommenced with go to Arthur’s Sunoco, a mechanic nearby. They made up erroneous charges and did things to the car we did not approve in advance of being charged unexpectedly. Turns out they have a history of ripping people off and bad service. Reviews described other AAA members finding the same and prior disputes! Why did they send us here knowing this? I will never trust AAA. The customer service blew me off and was rude.

I was then advised to order a tow within 45 min of my arrival, I did. This tow was never ordered or dispatched!! I called back twice and was lied to that the tow was coming... Guess what? No text message from AAA!! That’s their signature move!!! So I know no tow was ordered... Thanks AAA for making an awful situation worse. My daughter and I had to remove all 4!

After hitting a deer, AAA left me on a dark mountain road at night. Only flashers, no shoulder, no cell coverage. Told me to call back in the morning. Told me to call for a tow myself and they would give me the numbers. Told me they called tow companies, but found out they didn't until 2.5 hours from my first initial call. Told me to go stay at a hotel and they would pay for it, but a problem was there wasn't a hotel closer than 25 miles. I told them that and they didn't get it. Finally with rudeness, unprofessional comments and behavior with no empathy or apology, I was told to wait another 1 1/2 hour on top of the 2 1/2 hour for a tow driver to take me only 25 miles to spend the night in a town. Then they would take me the rest of the way tomorrow.

They also told me they would cover the costs of the hotel. So, spent the day waiting for the tow driver, missed a day of work, had my dog btw on top of all this, and now they are backing out of the promise that they will pay for the hotel room expenses. It was their fault I had to spend the night!!! It just kept coming..I put in a complaint and was told that AAA will give me a credit in my membership. What crap!!! So be aware, you pay for a service with AAA and they will change their mind in mid stream...some call it fraud!!! I have had the roadside service for over 40 years and the insurance for over 20+. Loyalty is crap to them.

My initial call was at 8 pm. I got to the hotel at 1230 pm. I had 2 hours of sleep with so much adrenaline in my system. Remember dark mountain hwy with no lights on my car..no shoulder and sketchy cell coverage. I could have been killed! I limped my car driving by the strobe light of the flashers for five miles, when I found the only thing around, a fire station, that was still occupied to make the call to AAA.

If you want this kind of unprofessional rude service, then AAA is your company, if you want to be blamed for being in a bad spot on what they call a holiday weekend... Halloween 4 days ago..since when is Halloween a holiday and that should matter? Then again AAA is your company! But if you don't want to be left in a dangerous situation like mine, then get lied to and treated like dirt...then run as fast as you can away from this crap!!! Good luck!!! Oh I also had a complaint to AAA and they said they would give me a $50 credit in my next membership. Really? And still not pay for my hotel..they suck!!

The AAA agent asked me to sign a lot of papers and he told me I have one month time for cancellation. He charged me $666. 3 weeks later I called and canceled my insurance with AAA and asked for return me back the remaining $100 balance because I already paid for one month insurance. But they told me that they took that $100 for premium cancellation fee! I was shocked because nobody told me that after cancellation they will charge me. But my shocks continued when this month I received a bill from them with amount of $400.3 as premium cancellation fee!

I gave them call and agent told me that my cancellation fee is %11!!! And it's on my contract! For sure nobody talked about cancellation fee when I signed contract with AAA agent. He told me, "You don't need to read it. I will explain each page to you." But for sure he didn't told me about that cancellation fee. So I feel they cheated on me and continue to charge me for nothing! I will take them to department of insurance in California, these greedy people in AAA continue to lying to customers and cheating on them on their insurance policies that is unacceptable. Be careful when you want to sign contract with them. It was purchased in July 2018 so I figured I call AAA and see if I could have the battery warrantied, But the answer is NO!

My mom's fiancé had purchased the battery for her from AAA to put in her vehicle and it worked for about 14 months. He recently passed away, so even though there was a warranty of 36 months and my mother still has the vehicle it was purchased for. AAA (WILL NOT REPLACE THE BATTERY) Because the warranty they say is not transferrable. So to all you out there thinking you are doing something good for your family BEWARE because under those circumstances you would be better to buy from ANY store elsewhere. We have been AAA members for decades and over those decades have rarely used the service. Currently AAA charges me almost $200 a year. In the past 5 years we have used AAA approximately FOUR TIMES. In the last three months we had the need to call for service TWO times. Once for a lock out while on vacation and after three hours we found help elsewhere. At no time did AAA or their subcontractor provider reach out to contact us. We provided GPS coordinates, road location address, phone number and email address. We repeatedly contacted AAA and were always given excuses as to why no contact or service provided in a timely fashion. We ultimately got help elsewhere and called back AAA to cancel the call. I complained to AAA and got a form letter in the mail saying they were sorry. Pathetic response.

Our second call was for a tow that was going to be 2.5 miles from point A to point B. After several hours and numerous calls from us to AAA to find out why every deadline was passing with a no-show, the guy/company that showed up thought he was there for a "jump start". From the time we placed the initial call till the car was towed to its destination.... approximately 5 hours elapsed. I don't know if the call center is that poor or the contractors being hired are that bad, I just know that AAA is not a service that we can depend on. We will now be researching other providers or go with what we can get through our insurance company. Shocking how being a customer for several decades is worth nothing.

I Waited hours for someone to come tow me to a mechanic literally 3.5 miles away. This after talking to multiple supervisors because they miscommunicated what my RV Premium membership capabilities were. Of course NO ONE CAME. And you what they told me when I called again asking when will I get help? They canceled the call-in hours ago because no one was available, so basically they forgot to tell me. Then they Told me to call again in the morning.

I guess it was good that I was in an RV with a bed to sleep. Called at 6am and someone finally came out to me at 9am, but they had such little experience and didn’t know how to tow my RV! So they left and told me they will tell AAA to send another person. Waited 2 more hours and then called again. Can you guess what happened? They forgot to tell me they canceled the call an hour ago because I one had the proper equipment to tow. Such a horrible company. Such a waste of time. Don’t waste your money on this lame association.

I would have to pay for an additional member. Why is that? How hard is it for them to make this change, seems like they just want to make more money. I opened a case at the time this occurred, NOW they're saying they have to speak to my husband. In the meantime, I still have to pay another towing service to tow it to the mechanic. I have been a member with AAA for YEARS with limited usage. This is totally unacceptable and we will not be renewing our membership! After talking with the young lady for a few minutes and explaining the problem, she said that I was talking to the wrong person and transferred the call. I was switched to a new representative - through the machine - and she said my account wasn't paid. I gave her the amount paid and date the bank paid the bill. It didn't matter, apparently, and I was told it was my problem.

I asked who I could talk to about the mistake. I was told to contact my bank. Since it's AAA's fault, I wasn't sure why it couldn't be fixed by speaking with someone with the organization. She told me it wasn't their problem, and she said that I could contact the bank or a local office to deal with the matter. Told them the issue and requested that someone come out with a new battery and replace my old one. Hours later a tow truck showed up and the driver told me he did not replace batteries, but could only jump start the car. I explained to him that I had to leave for work the next day at 6:00 AM and unless I left the car running all night the car would be dead again in the morning. I asked if he could come back in the morning or if I could call him directly if the car would not start.

He said no and that I would have to put in a new service call in the morning. He could not guarantee how long it would take to come out the next day. The car did not start in the morning. When I called the main corporate headquarters the next day I was told they not all areas of the country have 24 hour battery service. My area only had replacement battery service from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. I explained that I left for work earlier than 7:00 AM. I asked if I could make an appointment for an evening service call. I was told it was first come and first serve. So my only viable options was to miss work to have my battery replaced.

I then asked if my my annual fees were the same as other areas of the country that provided the 24 hour battery replacement service. I was told yes. That means I pay the same as others who have more services than me. I am being cheated. Even though I have been a club member for well over 25 years it did not matter. Shame on you AAA, shame on you for taking advantage of your customers. What’s even worse shame on you for hiring people in your customer service department that simply do not care. I just wrote a review for AAA Roadside Assistance for their customer satisfaction survey. However, I am not sure if that review will reach the public. I am such a satisfied customer that I decided to take the time to find a website where my review could be seen publicly. I'm taking my time to do this because the company deserves it and consumers deserve to know my opinion of the service as a member who has benefitted from the roadside assistance program since I started driving. As a 20 year member I believe my review holds substantial weight.

I have had AAA roadside assistance since I began driving. It has been so helpful to me over the past 20 years that I could not imagine being without the service. AAA provides me with a peace of mind. I don't think about or notice it during everyday driving but it is certainly there when something goes wrong on the road. But, more than a solution to the immediate problem, AAA is a phenomenal asset in solving the logistical questions pertaining to how to go about handling bigger problems (i.e. getting a car repair).

AAA customer care is quick to answer, polite, quick and thorough. The service provided on the roadside has always been perfect. Sometimes I have had to wait a bit for help to arrive, but those have normally been at times of heavy traffic volume. A family member has a different roadside service and in comparing our experiences AAA trumps that service in every way. For $74 a year the value is outstanding! I consider it some of my best spent money each year. Again, as a 20 year member and customer, I could not imagine driving without that AAA card in my wallet and the help I need always a phone call away. I am a real-life member of AAA and I have never been anything but satisfied and impressed with the impeccable service provided.

When they finally did, the call dropped on their end - I called back immediately and instead of waiting on hold again we used the automated message to report our location and we were told they would be there within the hour.

When they didn't show up as expected I called back only to have a rep tell me that someone had come to that location, we were not there so they had left. I filed a report due to the lie, case #**and they told us they'd have to put in another call to have someone come out and that again it would be an hour.

AGAIN, they didn't show and when I called for the 4th time, spoke with Antone at 6:32 and he was the most UNPROFESSIONAL and rude agent I dealt with - basically saying " what do you want me to do about it" . Once the tow truck arrived I noticed that it wasn't AAA, I was an outside tow company. The tow truck driver asked me for a tow pulley, which I had no idea what that was. He informed me that it should be in my trunk. I proceeded to walk to grab it but he stated "That's ok you don't need it", I allowed the tow truck to tow my vehicle to my residence. Once the tow truck left I didn't like where my vehicle was, so I moved it. Once I moved it I noticed that there was something dragging from the bottom of it. I contacted AAA and informed them of everything that happened.

Fast forward to 10/10/2019, a Field Representative came out to look at the damages from July 2019, and informed me that they'll be in contact. Today 10/15/19, I received a call from AAA stating that they will not fix the damages that were done to my vehicle. AAA is a rip off!!!! They didn't keep records of the outside company that they called to tow my vehicle, now the AAA is stating that the damages didn't come from the tow truck, now I'm forced to fix my vehicle on my car for something that AAA should be held liable for. How can AAA run out of drivers in such area?

Talked with a supervisor. Apparently, there is no time limit in the AAA service contract - AAA may come whenever they like! Beware when you consider their membership. You have to wait, for an unlimited, unspecified time. When I kept asking about any time limit or estimated time, same answer - no time limit, no estimate, all drivers are busy, they will call when they have an available driver. After so many years that we pay AAA membership ... the last time we called for a service was many years ago. On the one occasion we need the service it is not available. With Today's technology, you would think since they have my cell number on file, email address on file-etc they would be able to verify my information without needing me standing out front of the tow truck driver. Sonya (the manager at AAA in Mass was not helpful, did not care about me or my car and was not willing to help in any way.) I understand there are rules to protect me and AAA but come on AAA! Big epic fail with today's technology.

Today, a deer hit the car on a highway (55 mph) and left the car disabled - driver side airbags engaged and extensive damage to the front left body/tire. We called AAA and gave the representative the details and our location via phone - we received a confirmation email. One hour later.. My parents and my 3 year old daughter are sitting in a car with the police behind us and no one came. It was 40 degrees and dark outside, and cars going 55 mph by us. We got a hold of AAA again after being on hold for an additional 15 minutes and they said our request was cancelled because phone was disconnected abruptly. They said they will send a high priority tow over. 30 minutes later and no one.. Talked to AAA again.. They said it will be over in 45 minutes. Beyond frustrated and disgusted we cancelled them and had the police get us a tow that arrived in 5 minutes. Don't know how AAA can neglect our services and leave us stranded.

My daughter had a flat tire in Yountville last evening (at around 11:00 pm) while driving home from work. I had purchased the roadside service for EXACTLY this situation. They told her 90 minutes. She called me at some point during her wait time and I stayed on the phone with her. When it was nearing the 90 minutes and she had received a text from anyone confirming arrival; I had her call back - and they still had not been able to locate any tow or tire changing service provider. AAA said they would call her back in 2 minutes. I called the local PD to alert them and check on her - the deputy sheriff was wonderful; and my husband left to go assist as well. We were not waiting on a tow any longer.

Over an hour later, my husband arrived to get her and still no return call from AAA. I also called AAA as my husband left, and they said I could either contract with a private tow or wait while they manually attempt to call alternate tow providers on their approved list. Of course I do!!! I would have loved that within 15-20 minutes of my daughter’s initial call. My husband arrived, the deputy had driven back by, spotted and made sure my daughter knew him, and he tried to change the tire but had problems. They left for our home - by the time they arrived home - still no return call from AAA to either of us. I’ve had this service since 1993. I’m beyond disgusted with the treatment of their customers and their safety.

HETRZ CAR RENTAL AND AAA (American Automobile Association, aka Triple-A):

    (1) A “Passing The Buck” Marathon

    (2) “New Math”: 52 + 52 + 0 = 350

What you are about to read what looks like scenarios in a TV sit-com, but it actually happened – in real life! To put you in the picture, I will first explain that AAA premium members are entitled to a free one-day car rental from Hertz after an AAA tow-truck tows his/her car to a mechanic. Below is a description of my dreadful recent experience when using this service for the first time.

    (1) A “Passing The Buck” Marathon. It took eight phone calls to AAA and Hertz, and an hour of my time on the phone, to reserve that free one-day car rental - because the AAA agents and the Hertz agents kept passing the buck back and forth to each other (each telling me to talk to the other) - and they used me to “deliver” the buck each time!

First I called AAA to reserve the rental car, but the agent told me to call Hertz. So I called the local Hertz office, in Napa, CA. I gave the Hertz agent all my information, and we arranged all the details, including the type of car and the pick-up place and time. This was my first time using the AAA free car rental option; and I was expecting the Hertz agent to ask me for my AAA membership number to finalize the reservation. But she told me that she could finalize the reservation only after AAA gives its authorization. I asked her if she would contact AAA to request their authorization. But she replied that I had to call AAA, to instruct them to give her their authorization!

So I called AAA again, and asked the agent to call Hertz with the authorization. But the AAA agent told me that Hertz needs to call AAA! So I called Hertz again. And guess what happened? The same runaround started all over again – and again, and again, and again – with the AAA agents and the Hertz agents passing the buck back and forth to each other - and expecting me to be the intermediary, “delivering” the buck back and forth, because they were all too lazy to make the effort to contact each other directly. (Doesn’t this sound like a scene from a TV sit-com that makes fun of lazy bureaucrats? I think it would make a good “Seinfeld” episode).

That day, I had to make three calls to AAA and three calls to Hertz’s Napa office. In addition, I had one very brief conversation with an agent at the Hertz national call center, after a Triple-A agent transferred me there without my asking to be transferred (needless to say, the Hertz national call center agent instructed me to call AAA - who had just transferred me to her! (another sit-com scene!)

Isn’t this the ultimate in laziness? They not only pass the buck, but they expect me to pass it for them! The last of my eight calls was to a Triple-A supervisor, to whom I said plainly: “Take care of this yourself. Do not refer me to someone else!” So she set up a three-way call between me, her and Hertz; and my car rental was arranged in the space of about a minute. Why could none of the other AAA and Hertz agents have done this in the first place?

    (2) An example of “New Math”: 52 + 52 + 0 = 350. The best way to describe this issue is to list the events in chronological order: Monday, September 30. A Triple-A tow-truck towed my car to a mechanic; and I arranged a 24-hour free Hertz car rental (by going through the ordeal described above). Later that day, the mechanic told me that he would need at least one more day to complete the repair of my car. So I called Hertz in Napa to extend my car rental by another 24 hours (through Tuesday). The Hertz agent quoted me, and I agreed to, a price of $52 for the additional day.

Tuesday, October 1. The mechanic told me that he would need another extra day to complete the repair. So, again, I called Hertz in Napa to extend my car rental for a third day (through Wednesday), expecting to pay an additional $52. But the Hertz agent told me: “Your total for the three days will be three hundred [and something] dollars”!!!! (I forget the exact amount - think it might have been around $350). How can two days at $52, plus one free day, total over three hundred dollars???? I was not aware that 52+52+0 = 350. Is this an example of “New Math”? I asked the Hertz agent to explain the figures she quoted to me; and she gave me an incomprehensible answer (again – what a great TV sit-com scene this would make!).

[By the way, I cancelled my request to extend the rental to a third day when I heard that crazy price quote.] I wrote a letter of complaint about the above issues to AAA’s CEO, Marshall L. Doney and to Hertz’s CEO, Kathryn Marinello. I will keep you updated and let you know if they respond and the contents of their responses (if any).

I have a membership with AAA for myself and my son. My son recently needed a tow and called AAA. They sent a driver who towed the car and also damaged it in the front in the process. I called AAA and they had me send in pictures and a estimate (over $700.00 damage) which I did on 8/12/2019. Judy (the only helpful person in this situation) told me I would hear from Brian the field manager. It took several attempts just to get a response. Then he met my son in a nearby parking lot to recreate the tow and Brian determined that the tow truck did not do the damage. This was not accurate as the driver knew he did when he towed my son.

I appealed the decision and he said he would inform his supervisor Jim **. I emailed him 3 times starting on 9/24/2019 and it is now 10/8/2019 and Jim has not emailed me back or called me on my cell phone. The service has been horrible and you cannot trust AAA to look out for you when you need them. I will not renew my membership and I will find another service for my family's needs. AAA is great at collecting money and sending junk mail, but unfortunately they don't even stand by long time customers. I would suggest staying away from AAA.

An hour later, another dispatcher called and said her driver couldn’t find us even though we were exactly where I told them we were. Apparently, AAA had said we were at exit 17. After renewing our auto insurance on 9/20/2019 (new 6 month insurance started 9/30/2019), AAA sent us new insurance cards. I assumed they had the right date on them and put them in the cars. On 10/1/2019 I take 2 cars in for state inspection. I looked at the new insurance cards I had just received and they all still say expired on 9/30/2019, even though we had signed up and paid for coverage until 3/30/2020. So I called AAA to get new ID cards emailed to me.

Long story short, an hour and a half later, after being transferred literally 20 times and hung up on because they couldn't find my policy, I spoke to AAA in southern California (I live in Pennsylvania and my "club" was mid Atlantic AAA in PA) for the 5th time and after explaining my frustration they were able to email me my ID cards in 4 minutes. This is what I had expected 1.5 hours ago, yet not one of the 2 dozen people I talked to were able to handle this simple request. Pay more, go with another carrier. Our family has been with AAA for over 47 years. We have homeowners and auto insurance with them. We have just had our auto insurance rates almost doubled because my wife had a minor single car accident with her car. (AAA cost $2,100.) Their explanation for the major premium increase was that my wife had a speeding ticket in the last year as well. They also increased the premium on my car because she is listed as a driver on it. The repair of her car, a 2018 Camry with 8,500+ miles, was a learning experience as well. You see, even though her car was a little over a year old, if it had more than 15,000 miles AAA would not have authorized OEM parts in its repair.

During our 46 years with the company we have had claims on cars and home (accidents & storm damage). The total of all our premiums paid far exceeds the claims that we have had. When my wife talked with the AAA representative and asked what action she should take he suggested that in the future have the ticket fixed. It will cost us more in the increase premiums than it would have if we had paid for the repair ourselves. Some insurance company.

I've been a member of AAA since 1996. On July 20th of this year, my 2001 Civic blew the pipe leading to the water pump leaving me stranded on the roadside with all the antifreeze in my car draining all over the pavement. Immediately called AAA for a tow. This was at 9:45am. Was told by the CSR I spoke to that because of the high heat that day (90 degrees + insanely high humidity) that day that they were running at about an hour delay. I figured fine, I could handle that. Sat until 10:45 at which time there was still no driver and no call to confirm my pick up. Called AAA again only to be informed that it'd be "another 1/2 hour" due to the high demand. Sat until 11:45 with still no driver in sight and no callback from AAA.

Called them again only to be told it would still be another "1/2 hour to 45 minutes". Okay, I have no choice. I'm still sitting there. Finally at noon I call to find out what is going on, only to be told that I'm "next in line". It gets to be 12:30 and finally the tow truck shows up. I'm so relieved, only to be totally gobsmacked the next second when the driver informs me that he was "supposed to be somewhere else two hours ago" and the only reason he answered my call was "no one else wanted to answer the phone". He proceeds to try to talk me into waiting for ANOTHER 1 to 2 hour wait for someone else OR he can flatbed my car and take me 30 miles out of the way back to their shop so he can switch drivers and leave.

At this point it's approx 1:00pm and there was NO WAY I was waiting any more in the heat. Not to mention very bad storms were starting to move thru our area. Needless to say, after going out of the way and then BACK to where I needed to get my car repaired, it was almost 5pm and I was out over $200 for the tow. I hesitated on giving AAA any info, as the replacement driver was a decent guy, but I NEVER want to go thru that again. If someone would ask me for a recommendation for AAA, I'd tell them to think twice. They are NOT as grand as people think they are, as their service providers are a joke. All they have left is the good word of mouth due to their brand name. I personally am looking for other emergency road service providers, 'cause I've had it with AAA.

AAA investors, you are investing in the disorganized, deceptive practices of this one-star, Missy-ran AAA disaster! AAA scheduled, but did not provide, my membership-guaranteed service. They initiated a customer relations case to look into their shortcomings. Much like they did not provide the service my membership prepaid for, they did not keep their promise to appraise me of the result of their investigation, led by AAA Director Missy; they investigated their own misdeed and recorded it to their own liking - no rebut opportunity. How accurate could AAA’s reports and statistics be for the investors to rely upon?

In discussing the incident, AAA told me that its contractors are not limited by the AAA policy and are allowed to exercise their own wants. This means that if a dispatched contractor arrives to help a member and makes a demand that a member finds to be invasive or overreaching, then AAA can consider this as a member’s non-compliance and thus a refusal of the service, at which point the contractor can rightfully leave and still get paid.

With each membership renewal bill, the AAA policy (related to the services the membership prepays for) should be enclosed - all conditions should be put forth BEFORE we pay! This still leaves unclear how AAA would be able to provide us with the policies of all of its thousands of contractors, an open-ended random continuum? All of these contractors need to be bound by a uniform AAA policy in order to prevent the exploitation and ambushing of members in a time of distress! AAA, if you want to rely on our membership dues - you have to run a transparent and dependable business!

Luckily in less than 10 mins we got called by David who managed to tow my car to safety. In half hour it was done! Excellent and professional service from David. Thank you very much.

Watch out. They try to rope you into auto-renew, don't give you any warning about renewal. And then after it processes, they refuse to refund it. Better to get towing service through your auto insurance, and much less expensive.

Juan ** has provided the worst experience. He is not trustworthy regarding quotes for car insurance. Started me off with an amount I needed to put as down payment. I was going to pay with my credit card, then Juan ** said I could not make my down payment with a credit card. I needed to provide my checking account. Made no sense, but whatever. Then he begins to tell me the amount going to be charged on the checking account would be different than the amount being charged with a credit card?? So how did I end up with two different amounts since he said I was not able to use my credit card.

I begin to tell him I do not want the policy with AAA anymore. He says he already charged my card so he couldn't cancel it without me paying a fee. Makes no sense, I never was told the actual final amount to be charged. Yet he went ahead and charged me without my consent. Yet that is how he charged me for the down payment. So unprofessional. At this point, I am tired of him providing different amount every time. So, I ask him to cancel the policy. No thank you.

Everything was fine until he charged my card an amount I did not agree to and was not aware of. It’s been hell getting my refund back and getting this policy to be completely cancelled. This happened back in July. We are now entering September. I am being charged for the car policy I never agreed to and cancelled the same day it was processed. Called in today August 31, 2019, 9:30 a.m. Found he never cancelled the policy. How outrageous. Juan ** has not returned any of my calls, emails, or has had any form of contact with me to resolve the issue. Also, avoids transferring me over to his supervisor. What kind of representative and customer service is this???

I have been a member of AAA for many years, they offer many services, towing, car jumpstart, battery replacement, insurance, etc. Their subscription allows 3 emergencies for 1 year. Recently I have been using their batteries because of convenience to avoid hassles of hauling my battery to the shop and also because there is no alternative when you're stuck somewhere. I have used 4 of my immediate family members cars for their batteries and all of them had to be replaced with a year and a half. The problem has arised when I noticed the battery life was not lasting long enough, and when all 4 cars had issues at the same time. AAA had no issues to come out to the location and they would replace it, but the problem is that they would use one of my 3 occurrences/emergencies for the visit for the warranty. So in this situation my emergencies would be used up quite quickly.

And if you did not have your membership up-to-date they would charge $50 to reinstate your membership, now I think this is an unethical practice especially when you are stuck. In a recent occurrence I decided not to reinstate my membership and wait a certain period of time so I do not get charged $50, so I call back to reinstate my membership and they charged me the regular price and the customer service representative would immediately confirm my transaction through my credit card. That's how it works, the process is an instant approval. I know this because it just happened a couple of days ago and I usually confirm the transaction over the phone, after the call.

A few days after renewing my membership to avoid the $50 charge I had an emergency, so called AAA and come to find out my subscription was not renewed and they wanted to charge me $50 for the renewal. The customer service rep said the renewal did not go through. This sounded strange because it is an instant approval. Either the rep did not process my renewal or they wanted me to get charged $50. I had to fight with a supervisor to avoid the ridiculous charge. My concern is that this may be happening to many consumers.

Both times I have received extremely poor service, being left there for 4 hours or more waiting while they continuously update the expected arrival time. The last time we broke down at 1:00 PM, the car did not make it to the service center until 8:00 PM that night. These people have no respect for their clients, they fabricate excuses until they can finally locate someone to do the work. I would recommend you avoid this company like the plague.

Took my perfectly fine 2001 Tahoe in for a 100,000 mile service. No complaints from dealership on any major issues with vehicle or suggestions. Just routine upkeep on a vehicle that pretty much sits. The vehicle only had 117+ on it, and they talked me into a transmission flush. 117,164 when I dropped it off initially, 117, 279 when I made it back to them with transmission problems. Transmission fluid apparently leaked in my driveway, didn’t know that until I got on the road. Now they claim it had nothing to do with them, just a coincidence. $792 for maintenance 7/25 $340 for rusted oil cooler line 8/15 and a note that now says it's slipping in third gear on paper but telling me while I’m there and allowing me to drive off. I guess it’s on me to buy a new transmission now.

After voicing my limited avenues to have my issues addressed this is the texted response I received from the manager overseeing my complaint. “Sir, after your actions on social media bashing the store and company, we feel we will never regain your trust and loyalty back and would prefer you come pick up your truck and have it serviced elsewhere.” So I guess they’ve washed their hands of my complaint. Your social media venue should allow both positive and negative experiences the same voice. Great customer service Just had my vehicle towed to a transmission specialist and they advised $2,200 plus labor to fix.

I was recently returning from the bay area on a Saturday via I-80 when my battery light turned on. Eventually, my battery completely died at 2300 on the side of a very busy stretch of I-80 through Fairfield. My battery had just enough life to turn on my hazard lights, but they were fading fast. I called AAA, which I've had for 15 years, and was transferred to the wrong operator so by the time I called back and got the right person it was 23:30. I told them my situation, alone in my car with failing hazard lights in the dark on a busy stretch of highway. They said the very next truck would be routed to me as I was high priority.

I pay to have the 100 mile tow option and requested to be towed the 50 miles to the garage I usually go to, knowing that no one would be open on Sundays and not wanting to miss work. They said they would try and find someone to drive 50 miles but they were going to get me off of the side of the highway first. That seemed reasonable, especially when my hazard lights totally gave out. But they only had 2 drivers, on a Saturday night, in a city, with a 5 lane each direction freeway. After an hour I called for a status update, the people were friendly and said, "The very next truck available." I called my family to tell them I would be much later than expected. At this time my battery had given up and I had no hazard lights to speak of. Two family members drove 50 miles to sit behind me with their lights on so cars could see me.

Unfortunately, I waited on the side of the road for over 4 hours. At 04:00 the tow truck finally arrived and towed me to the nearest gas station. I knew it was my alternator because the battery was fairly new, but old enough to know it wasn't a dud. But a battery had gotten me all the way here, so maybe a fully charged one could get me the rest of the way home.

At that point I asked if I could just get a battery from them but their battery trucks stop making service calls at 20:00. So then I begged to be towed to a 24 hour Walmart (or someplace that was open) so I could buy a battery and hope that it could get me the rest of the way home but the driver was unaware of any open stores and said he could only tow me a few blocks off the freeway. My car was left at a gas station right off the freeway and I was told that the next tow truck drivers came on at 0600 and maybe they could convince one to drive me at 0700 but I may have to wait several more hours. Several more hours on top of the 4.5 hours it already took them to get me to safety when I was sitting in the dark with no hazard lights on a busy stretch on highway!

My family took me to get a battery and we used that to get the 50 miles to home (bad alternator meant it couldn't charge). If you're looking to buy this service for your family members and you want them to be safe and not stranded on the side of a 5 lanes each way freeway for over four hours in the dark with no lights... go with a different company. PS: while I was waiting for my tow I found this page and saw how many others had been having the same struggle. I wish I had seen this sooner. I'm now with a different company and feel far more protected should I ever be stranded in the future.

I was by myself, a single woman, on the side of a major highway after my tire blew out. It was a very dangerous situation. I had to skid to the shoulder of the road when the tire blew. I called the Triple AAA number on my Premium Membership card. Apparently there are different regional offices, but I was not aware of this. The first guy was very condescending and not compassionate. I was just in a dangerous situation that had never happened before and he could care less. He said he "couldn't find the exit where I was located on the map." I'd explained the exit signs and several other factors to give him clues as to where I was. I was on a major highway and could see the exit signs, yet he "couldn't find it."

Then, after a very horrible customer service experience of him downplaying the seriousness of this, being defensive and saying "I'm trying to get you the help you need ma'am" he said 'Oh, we don't handle your area. I will have to transfer you." He flippantly also said "You can call the police." He transferred me and the next customer service rep hung up on me and did not even attempt to call back.

I called back a third time and got a more compassionate woman who went above and beyond to find my exact location and was compassionate. (I was pretty shook up as I was almost in an accident when the tire blew.) Someone was dispatched out who then told me "Oh, I don't change tires. I only tow." The guy was very unprofessional in communication and manner. Typically, when someone is called out for a tire issue, they would change the tire. He said "Well I just wanted to get you off the road. I don't do tires. That's not what I do. I can get someone else to do that. You will have to call back and get someone else to come and do that."

I had to call again, wait another 45 minutes to an hour to get a tire change. All in all it was about a 4-5 hour disruption of my day, a lot of mental turmoil, and very unprofessional, inefficient service. As a single woman who had to deal with that alone, I did not feel safe or valued as a customer. I also filed two complaints with a supervisor and their "customer relations professional," of which I have not received follow up.

I was concerned about the multiple calls for a tire change and they said my account would only be noted for one, but I had to call back to verify that. It was not told to me within the process. (I only get 4 calls a year---and they technically forced me to do two: One for the tow of which I did not request and one for the actual tire change.) I should not have had to call multiple times for service to get off a dangerous highway. I am considering other options due to this. AAA seems to be an OK if you have time and money to waste or you're stuck at home or somewhere familiar, but if you're truly in an emergency situation, have an issue that involves actual top-notch service, they are not worth the money paid per month for membership.

No tow truck. It was his second tow issue (not a service call) of the morning, he was not happy. Neither was I. Called AAA back, they were very unconcerned.

After speaking with a supervisor, she explained that they normally send a service truck first as it solves 90% of the issues. I explained if I ordered steak and you brought me chicken, not what I asked for. Did not really understand why I was upset? Now late for work and now a TOW TRUCK would be here by 9:10. He called at 9:15 to tell me he was on his way. He arrived at 09:35. Now really late for work. Tow truck driver was GREAT. This membership was a Christmas Gift from my Brother in Law. They tow 8 miles for free (unless you upgrade to next service level). Next year Bro, get be a bottle of bourbon and we will call it even. We were manipulated by AAA agents for about 7 hours under hot weather (94 degree by the car thermostat). Finally, we paid a local towing service by ourselves after 4:30pm and got off the road.

My suv engine stopped on the road at 9:30 am. We called AAA. The first promise was 12:30pm and trying to get a faster service. And then they kept scheduling delays (at least 6 times). After every delay no service Truck showed up at the new time. We made more than dozen calls and got so many bad answers and promises. They tried making us leave the car on the road and we rejected them over and over. The four police officers involved that day from the morning to the later afternoon. Maybe the location was closed to the Space center and had some security issues. In the afternoon, 2 police officers kept staying with us until the car was finally towed. They provided some water to us. My husband is 72 years old and was under heat so long time. It was high risk to develop serious medical problems.

The second day (8/20/2019), I called AAA to complain the situation and wanted to cancel my membership because I have zero trust about their service after the horrible experience. I wanted to get my membership fee resound and reimburse my towing cost ($84) because I still was under insurance policy at 8/19/2019. The supervisor woman Saith employee ID #** said that I only had two choices: refund membership fee or reimburse towing cost. I don’t know how much reimburse she would offer. I was pushed to give up the towing reimburse and took the membership fee refund. I really feel the membership benefits mean nothing in the future. I complain them outrageously abusing customers and even not showing any real apology afterwards. After years being the member and this new experience, my conclusion is that AAA is very bad and cheats customers. They should be out business, because the old AAA is gone.

I want to start this off by saying that the flat tire was my fault after hitting a ditch in the side of the road. I pulled over and called Triple AAA for a repair, and I gave them my location (It was called Gunpowder Falls State Park: Headquarters) and I was told it would take about half an hour to an hour. I was a bit annoyed, but I figured I'd wait until someone came up.

I was called three times that someone was going to arrive and that they were sorry for the delay. About 30 minutes after that call, the guy that was suppose to change my tire called and said he couldn't find my location. It turns out there was another Gunpowder State Falls Park about 30 minutes away from where I was (and the dispatch didn't bother to ask more details if I was at the right location, and assured me there was only one Gunpowder State Falls Park area).

So instead of taking the time to drive the 25-30 minutes to get to my car, he ended up calling dispatch to try and find someone closer. They did, but the guy that was "closer" was already doing another job, and he was going to take an hour to get there. So it's now 8:30 PM, and still no help. 9:45 PM finally hits and SOMEONE finally came, and was able to put the new tire on, and thankfully knew what I was going through since apparently this section of Triple AAA only has a handful of drivers. I wouldn't have minded that if the last guy that was supposed to help decided to take the simple 30 minute drive to my location. If he had another car to take care of, they could have waited, lord knows I did for the past two and a half to three hours.

I'm thankful that someone came by and that I was given updates on the situation, but I am absolutely infuriated that it took this long for just a simple tire change, a tire change that I could have done myself since Ben, the driver that worked on the tire, let me know that my Car Jack also has a tool to remove the tire. I will give him the highest form of praise for his help, sympathy, and advice alone.

Please hire more people to help with roadside assistance so that there will actually be someone closer, and please have dispatch ask more question. I would prefer to not have myself or anyone else wait as long as I did, especially if it had been something FAR worse than a flat tire. Had I known that the multiple Gunpowder Falls State Parks were going to be a thing, they could have asked if there was anything else close by or to ask for a specific address. I'm happy the place I was at HAD an address.

It was also lightning.

My rescuers called 911 twice because it was another hour passed. The second call responder said there was no record of any other call. AAA let me down. I was saved by a Road Ranger who quickly got me back on the road. The AAA should have helped me get police assistance since they were ignoring me and I made that clear. At least three state police passed me one when my new friends were actually on the line with 911. I am thinking I will not drive through the Everglades again and finding another road service agency.

News flash if you own a motorcycle and you don't know who these guys are you need to, have one of their cards or do a bookmark, a save whatever you need to do to keep their number in your pocket. My wife and I were down on highway 60 tonight 11 p.m. flat tire on a Gold Wing. Called AAA (we are premier card holders), got the runaround for over two hours and they had still not dispatched the call!!!

Keep that in mind, so we googled motorcycle towing companies looking for someone to give us a hand that would take AAA and found KnowTow. Debbie was absolutely wonderful and informed me KnowTow was a AAA sub contractor then she asked me how long we had been waiting on AAA to respond! I told her that it was 11 pm when we made the first call and it was well after midnight and they still had not been able to find a tow company.... Well she got on the phone immediately with AAA and got that issue resolved and had AAA Dispatch the job to KnowTow immediately and.... along with some serious ** chewing on the AAA dispatcher and to my knowledge it's going to be readdressed again tomorrow with their AAA rep. I too will be my AAA office in Lakeland.

Fantastic people at KnowTow. The service was great and Kevin came over to pick up my bike. Was professional. The equipment he used was top-notch 100% and I've got nothing but five stars and if it had more they had got more. We need more companies like this in Florida. If you're a biker I can only say at some point in your life you will need a tow and knowTow is the way to go????

This morning I visited our local triple AAA office in Lakeland, Florida and meet with Peggy ** (Field Insurance Manager). After her reading my review as posted to KnowTow she without hesitation copied the review and is going to take it up the ladder and urged me to again post my response to Triple AAA. So here it is. Was the most unprofessional response to a an roadside service request or any customer service I have experienced. Needless to say we are reconsidering our renewal with Triple AAA. The coverage is for our cars, motorcycles and RV. Frankly I think Triple AAA should give us a year free and deduct that from Bonuses (could be an eye opener for the VIP's) and change their handling of service requests in the following way:

    1. Change the way service requests are handled by their telephone boiler rooms by allowing the first contact to stay on the phone with the person requesting service until a subcontracted provider has been given the authorization necessary to meet roadside emergency needs.

    2. An in depth review and modification to the training of personal as to the hazards and outright dangers a motorcyclist is in while they are waiting for roadside service! Such as the weather conditions and the lack of protection from the animals as well as other possible threats by someone that would find a single person stranded and exposed.

    1.

Once they showed they said we owed money for towing more than 5 mile radius. When I called to request tow service there was no mention of additional fees. The service agent left me completely unprepared, wondering if I was being scammed by the tow company. I called to explain my frustration of my customer service experience to AAA. The customer resolution representative told me I should have been notified that there were additional fees, but that there was nothing they could do about it now. She also said they probably assumed I knew about the fees because I have been a member for 3 years. Quality customer service agents do not make assumptions.

Sorry I don’t pull out my AAA rule book and read it daily. I expect that when I’m stranded on the side of the road I can pull out my card, talk to a representative and get ALL of the information I need to know. Instead of taking accountability for failing to give me all the necessary information for a successful experience, their customer service department blamed me. Frankly they were very rude and made no effort to resolve the situation. I told them I would be canceling my membership and they said they didn’t care. So much for a “resolution” department. Myself and my boyfriend, a 23 year member, will be cancelling our memberships. Since it is illegal to leave a vehicle idling, I ask him to turn off the engine and thanks for waking me. Driver tells me to "get a life" and how his house is better than mine, etc. etc. Okay. So I just canceled my membership and filed a police report. That's what I think of AAA. CHAPTER 9. Stopping, Standing, and Parking. 22515. (a) No person driving, or in control of, or in charge of, a motor vehicle shall permit it to stand on any highway unattended without first effectively setting the brakes thereon and stopping the motor thereof.

They sent out an email saying you could get a free Associate Membership for somebody in the same household when signing up a member for automatic renewal of the Roadside Service Plan. What they failed to mention:
    1) Following the link they provided to sign up gets you no Associate Membership. You have to call, and they don't even provide the number in the email.
    2) If you do call, then the "free Associate Membership" is only good until the next renewal date, which could be a very short period.
    3) On that date, and every year after, the full amount will be charged automatically to renew the Associate Membership.

So, this is no accident, they are trying to make people think they are getting more than they really are. Highly deceptive advertising!

My family and I have been members of AAA for over 15 years - the highest level of coverage, Platinum membership. I live in the desert in Arizona, with 110 degree temps on average in the summer. My car had a flat tire when driving in the Mill Mountain Campground in Globe, AZ. AAA refused to assist me, saying they did not service the road we were on. My family was literally stranded, with no one in sight to help us. I drove on the tire rim for 20 minutes when a nice person who happened to drive by, helped us. If we walked to the nearest service station it would have taken 4 to 5 hours - and the temperature was over 100 degrees. I had a second incident about 2 months prior - my daughter's car broke down close to the house. I was annoyed with the car and when I talked to the AAA representative I made an off-hand remark that was not intended as a real plan - that I would trade the car in.

AAA lady jumped on the statement and said, rather gleefully I might add - like she caught me - that AAA did not cover towing for that reason. I called a second time to check about towing because I never had any problem with AAA in the past. I was told I had been recorded and my statement proved their initial decision was correct. I had to have the car towed at a cost of $285 by a private company. I complained to AAA by phone and a rep said to mail proof of my towing bill and they would reimburse me. Today I received a letter saying they would not reimburse me. Needless to say, I am dropping AAA. I now have roadside service through my car insurance.

    1) They Jacked my insurance rate, (no accidents or tickets, perfect record) at least 50%. I went to Allstate, same insurance policy $60.00 a month less, back to what it was at AAA.

    2) Towing has gone down the tubes. I have waited almost 2 hours for a driver then it was unbelievable...The driver told me about AAA firing all of their drivers and now use independent contractors. I waited for a truck for over an hour, the drivers in Oakland, CA did not want to come tow it so they had one come all the way up from Fremont to tow me to Richmond! This is NOT Great AAA customer service that I have been used to in all my AAA years... This is nothing but Greed at the top now.

I've been a AAA member for probably 20 years, but never have I had to wait 4.5 hours for roadside assistance. The people at AAA were personable and professional, but in the end, if you aren't getting the service you paid for, what's the use of having a AAA membership? Had I known, I would have called a local tow truck and asked AAA to reimburse me. The tow truck driver who finally arrived was actually from a city an hour away. Obviously, AAA does not have enough wrecker companies under contract or is not offering enough compensation to make signing a contract with them worthwhile. Either way, they had better step it up!

Never once have I had a problem with AAA until yesterday. Let me sum this up the best I can. After being lied to about arrival times from a tow company AAA hired and having to call 4 times to get a estimated time which they ended up not coming for over a hour past that no big deal. I’m patient. Well they then make more excuses about not having a truck. They bring a tow dolly truck. “I have a Subaru Wrx. It’s all wheel drive.” I asked them, "It’s awd. How will you tow it!?" They said it is a 4 wheel dolly. I said, "Okay that’s fine." Long story short they then say they can’t do it. Car is too low! The damn car is stuck! And they knew that I asked them before they came! They assured me it’s no big deal.

Well they then only hooked back wheels and slowly moved it across street to a gas station where their flatbed was supposed to come!? Well long story short the tow truck driver gave my key to a gas station attendant. Someone has been in vehicle because it was locked and wheel was turned! I asked AAA where key was. They can’t find it and finally after arguing they found it but haven’t towed my car. May I remind you it’s almost been 24 hours since they was supposed to have came. I have text messages from the tow driver lying to me and I guess AAA about who was with the car etc. I’m very very disappointed in this. Now I’m in the worry someone may have made a copy of my key... This is crazy and not what I pay for...

I was treated disrespectfully by the customer service representative on 8/9/19 named Jay. I did not have good cell phone service. I was on a back road in an extremely rural place. I believed that because the city was so small that if the agent knew that I just left the city on a particular state road that they could find me. I explained several times that I was headed west on a specific highway and that if the service tech contractor (that is usually a company in a nearby location) would be familiar with the location. My elderly father drove 45 minutes from a nearby city to help me.

The entire 45 mins I was on the phone with AAA! I looked at my phone and saw that I did have location services on at all times. I also noticed that there is a new feature called AAA Drive. This feature scores your driving. It tells the location, time, and other elements within the drive (cell phone distraction and several other features). There was also a map that showed the exact time and location of where I was on that day. Why in the world did I have to argue with the rep about my location when apparently the company has specific data points on me as a consumer? I’ve been with the company for 19 years. What is the point of having AAA with all of the upgraded services when I cannot even receive the services that I am paying for because of incompetent and insensitive staff?

We purchased a new plan with expedited fees added for about $125, since we had plans to drive home that day ASAP. They sent assistance but he didn’t have the proper tools to change the battery, so he just recommended we go to the shop across the street. We could have gotten a jump from anyone, including the shop across the street. We had to wait for the shop to serve many clients before them and the delay caused us to be 8 hours behind schedule, resulting in stress for everyone. We thought it would be reasonable to get our expedited fee refunded, and we requested the expedited fee refund, but AAA refused any refunds.

Our family has had AAA membership for years. We had a tire blow on our boat trailer as we were headed from Cincinnati on I-74 West. We were in a very dangerous spot on the side of the road. I called AAA's emergency number and was told that I had reached the Cincinnati office and they would have difficulty finding help in Indiana. I was incredulous, I responded that I thought this was a roadside service and this was the whole point of having a national company to help me. At this point I was cut off during a transferred call. I called again, had to go through the whole menu as semis are whizzing by us - to be told that he could give me a number of a wrecker service in the area that I could call. Seriously??

I dug out my pen and paper and called the number - out of service. I called AAA a third time - by this time I was not calm, cool, and collected at the woman on the phone wanted me to be. I repeated our situation and she said that our boat was not on our policy and that it would be 7 days to add it to our current policy. I said, "so you are going to leave me here on the side of the road with NO help." No response from AAA. At this point, my husband, who has Parkinson's Disease was falling down on the side of the road and I needed to assist him. I hung up. A sheriff from the area pulled over and called a local wrecker for us and they were extremely helpful. If I could award 0 stars - I would have!

I rarely ever write reviews; my leisure time is usually spent enjoying life. I am taking the time to write this review in hopes that I will save someone else from going through the same horrendous experience that me and my family had from AAA. My vehicle wouldn't start in the morning, so I checked every possible box on the list, including swapping out the battery. I called AAA to have it towed to a mechanic. As soon as I gave AAA the information that they needed, I received a call from the local towing company here in Sonora, CA. This was at 7:36am (when I received a call from the local towing company). I called back after 11am when no truck had arrived, they said it would be another 2 hours. I waited... around 3pm (nearly 4 hours later) I decide to call AAA to get a different towing company to come get my car.

I spoke to a male customer service representative who told me that AAA doesn't have the power to get me a different company, and that I have to use the local company, even though I knew that Haidlen Ford in Oakdale, CA is only 35 miles away from me. The local company is within 5-10 miles and I had to use them (the company that told me 2 hours and at this point in time it had been 8 hours & 105 degrees outside). The AAA customer service rep said he would send out the call or alert again to Vic's Towing (the local company that I had been dealing with). I get a call from Vic's Towing, and was quoted 2 more hours. Again, I wait... a little after 5pm I receive a call from Vic's Towing asking me if I "still needed a tow today?"

I reply, "Yes, of course I need a tow today, my car won't start, I have been waiting since 7:36am (10 hours at this point). It's 105 degrees outside, my wife is pregnant, and we are leaving tomorrow morning to go to Southern California for summer vacation; Yes, I need a tow today!" I got hung up on. Then the female dispatcher at Vic's Towing called me back and told me how it had been a long day and a truck of theirs had broke down, and how she needed a couple of beers after she got off from work. Then said, "I can have a truck at your house by 10PM, but they will store the vehicle in the towing yard and tow it to my destination first thing in the morning." I wait until 10:30PM (15 hours waiting), no tow truck arrives. I call Vic's Towing, and ask, "How long until the truck arrives, it was supposed to be here at 10PM?" The female night dispatcher tells me they have nothing on file for me or for a call coming to my location or for my vehicle.

I proceed to tell her that I have been waiting since 7:36am, and I had placed 2 calls directly through AAA and 2 calls directly to Vic's where the dispatcher even wrote down specific instructions on where my vehicle is going, how is there nothing on file? She shows no signs of empathy for our situation and says, "There is nothing I can do until tomorrow, call back in the morning." And she hangs up. I call AAA and break down everything that had just happened, which I was told that if I wanted a tow from Haidlen Ford (a AAA account holder) I would have to pay out of pocket for the tow, then wait two months for a review for "possible" reimbursement. After telling the AAA rep there is no way I'm doing that, they give me a specific case number for the incident and tell me that I should receive a call from Vic's and Haidlen Ford Towing to get my car tonight. I hang up from AAA at 11:20PM.

I wait until 1AM (18 hours waiting, and I'm leaving for Southern California--a 7 hour drive-- in 5 hours, which means neither my pregnant wife or myself slept before our journey, because of the extreme frustration we were experiencing). I tell AAA (at 1AM) to cancel the call to Vic's and Haidlen Ford, that I didn't want them to touch my vehicle, and that I expect a call from the customer service management to review what had just happened, and there is no way that Vic's should be a AAA account holder, and that the policy within AAA 'for authority over a towing call' should not reside with the towing company; AAA should have the authority to get me a tow from a neighboring AAA account holder. Was any of this passed up the line to management? I received a call a week later from the department that handles bad customer experiences. Jenny (a AAA employee) did not ask me about my experience.

She proceeded to give excuses for AAA and Vic's as I sat in astonished silence, knowing that she did not utilize the recorded calls to review what had happened, nor did she try to remedy the situation. I said that someone from higher up should review the case and call me back; Jenny told me that her call was all that I was going to receive and nobody else was going to call me. How is that for customer service? AAA is the worst company I have ever dealt with in my entire life, I have been ripped off by con artists and have had a more pleasant experience getting robbed. If you don't have AAA roadside service, I would not recommend that you do business with them. Daniel **, Oakdale, CA.

It took four calls, and 40 minutes, to get service scheduled for my dead battery. I live outside Philadelphia; the 800 number staff kept referring me to a Central PA club. Finally the rep claimed they had connected me to the right club, and that I'd receive a callback with my appointment time within 30 minutes. That was 2 hours ago. I just called only to find out - whoops, they referred me to the wrong club, and NEVER SCHEDULED THE SERVICE!

I've been sitting here with a dead car for 2.5 hours and no one bothered to call me. They claimed someone would call within 5 minutes to get me service - but guess what it's been 10 minutes and no call. I'm going to contact an attorney or file a small claims case to recover my lost time due to their complete stupidity. Reps are badly trained, the computer system is incorrect and no one takes responsibility to fix anything.

In addition, the tech would not give me a copy of the receipt. While I know my trailer was not covered, when the vehicle pulled up, it had the AAA logo proudly displayed across the hood. I would think that AAA screened and vetted their affiliates to ensure they are taking care of their customers for whatever our need may be. The tow company they told me was coming was never dispatched to me!!!!! I didn't find this out until 3 hours into my wait time and when I demanded to know the name of the company I called them and they had no idea who I was!!!! They went through their entire call log for 12 hours of that day and I was not nowhere on that list.

After over 3 hrs of calling AAA & asked them why they are only calling 1 tow company anyway with hundreds of members stranded on a night that had flood warnings they had no answer. I demanded they contact another company from outside the city I was stranded in and that's when they finally did that and the tow company that came after 4.5 hours of me being left alone & hysterical in addition to needing my lupus medication which was home, the tow company that came sent a driver high as a kite, he towed my car & when he was pulling it off of the truck damaged the underneath of the front end, cracked the front fender & I was screaming for him to stop driving it that the car front end was getting stuck on the bed of the tow truck & he denied it but I have it on video.

Each time I called AAA they would blame the tow company so I was LIVID with them and started destroying them online with reviews meanwhile, AAA used disgusting deceitful business practices that resulted in the slander and assassination of character of an innocent tow truck company that was never called. AAA staff is so utter incompetent and the cover ups to their errors are disgusting. I will not stop fighting to hold them responsible for that entire night. I got the BBB involved so they can post this disturbing inhumane treatment of me, after AAA has avoided my calls this entire week and when they did answer would lie and tell me they had to review all the phone calls that night and the detailed account of everything but they never call back.

I am not going away and plan on filing a CIVIL lawsuit for the hell I went through that night. They told BBB they would refund & cancel my membership but I cannot have my membership canceled no matter what I went through that night!!! I am disabled and cannot take the chance of being stranded with no way to pay a tow truck on site and not have a roadside service. We are nursing our sun burns after waiting outside for a tow truck for the second day, and this is what we learned. At some point without notifying the members of the following change, and after collecting our membership fees, AAA has enacted a new way to condition access to their members' prepaid services. While before, the roadside assistance contractor was simply to make sure that your ID name matches your member card name, now AAA has its contractors SCAN and RETAIN all details of your driver's license.

So, if it is not OK with you to have some guy on a truck collect your name, DOB, home address, driver's license number, or any other details contained on the back strip of the driver's license for undisclosed use, which may include selling it, ID fraud, or just stalking your house and children, then be aware of this new practice of AAA. We will be cancelling our decade-long AAA membership for their abusive and predatory practices and stealing of our days, as we await for their service.

The AAA local office (215-343-2660; Mike) was incompetent to explain the membership Plus service (which includes the tow I ordered) they advertise and collect fees for.

The Customer Relations Service (Carolyn and Christina) could not explain their own Roadside Assistance policy, specifically, how does a member (I have been a member for over a decade, I am "Plus" member) get compensated for a pre-paid (since AAA membership is pre-payed for a year ahead) service when it is not provided, for hours stolen from our lives, and for pain and suffering endured. They put me on hold for so long it drained my half-full phone battery, leaving me on the side of the road AND without a working phone. AAA advertises a service - we prepay - they do not provide - what is the punity?

The last time that we used the AAA tow service, on a dead-cold winter day, we waited for 4 hours. We learned of the bait-and switch scam of AAA towing contractors: The tow company that your request is dispatched to dodges it for long enough to exhaust you onto calling for a private tow from the same area, so that a fellow tow man gets his full asking price. This is a courtesy practice of the local (to where you are stranded) towing businesses. We brought it up to the AAA Roadside Assistance staffs' attention at that time. Our experience yesterday of almost 5 hours waiting being baked under the sun suggests that AAA took no steps to remedy this fraud and deceit against its own customers!

AAA, please mail me the text of a contract implied in my AAA Plus membership along with the related policy details. We want our pre-paid towing service - so, we will be ordering it again today and every day thereafter until it is provided. We welcome any news crew to join us to document live an actual experience of a AAA Plus member that is likely similar to multitude of others who did not want to spend their family time on a similar post.

Explained numerous times that we would need to manually push the car to the back and do they have the proper equipment. They said yes and said it wouldn't be a problem. They picked my car up from the body shop and dropped it in front of my house partially in the street and left me to figure it out. Would not send another truck out to assist. Said I would have to pay another company out of pocket to get the car to my backyard.

My incident began in the wee hours of the morning on July 7th. After returning from a red eye flight from LAX and traveling cross country with my husband, small children, and elderly mother, I arrived at BWI to discover that my car would not start. I immediately suspected that my battery power was depleted, and I called 1-800-AAA-Help for Roadside Assistance. My call was dispatched to the Mid Atlantic AAA office since I was outside of range of my home office, the Southern PA office, located in York, PA.

Roadside Assistance was dispatched at 1:30 AM and technicians arrived by approximately 2:15 AM to our location, where we had left our car during our west coast vacation. We received a battery jump from the Roadside Assistance technicians and began our long journey home to our residence in York, PA. After traveling approximately .2 miles from the hotel parking lot, our car died again, and we had to push it into another parking lot. This one was dark and desolate. I immediately called AAA Roadside Assistance back to report that we were again stranded. This is when our problems began.

The dispatcher who accepted my calls was completely incompetent. At first, he did not dispatch help. I detected this when text messages confirming my request were not apparent. When I called back to inquire and confirm that help was on the way, the dispatcher revealed he didn’t know what type of technician to call out. We told him to dispatch anyone who could assist. We just wanted someone to come. For the next 3 hours we received notifications that someone would be arriving momentarily, and to no avail, those who were promised did not arrive as they were supposed to per AAA’s communication. The Dispatch unit was extremely disorganized, not properly trained and consequently we waited 3 and ½ hours for help that should have arrived in approximately 45 minutes.

I am not a mechanic, nor do I have a mechanical background to diagnose automobile problems. I expected that AAA would dispatch competent individuals who would help us navigate this unfortunate situation. They did not. The root cause of our issue was that our battery needed to be charged. Instead, they advised we needed an alternator. We incurred almost $300 in towing fees and $250 to rent a car to get home. They should have been equipped to jump our car and they had no clue what they were doing. Steer clear and if you get stranded, do NOT rely on AAA. You will fare better on your own.

Two hours later I was told to wait another 90 minutes. It turned out they never connected with a towing operator. I must have talked to a dozen customer service people, each with a different story. The bottom line is my car is still in a vacant parking lot 15 hours after my original request for assistance. Not one follow-up phone call by a supervisor either despite my many requests. If we were calling from the middle of the desert 4 hours MIGHT me understandable but Sarasota FL is NOT in the middle of desert. Speaking to the call center is like speaking to a third world country. The people are fine but their SYSTEMS seem to be from the 1930's with party phones. Everyone apologizes but NOBODY taking responsibility to get the the bottom of what is going on!

Apparently AAA feels that just two supervisors for the entire East coast is sufficient (ONE in Tenn & ONE in FL) - WTF? Every time you call service line you're on hold for 10-20-30 minutes - then you speak to people who have near zero info and ZERO Power to make anything happen. With this pathetic of service AAA will be the next big company that disappears like Blockbuster, Kodak etc. SAVE YOUR MONEY - Simply call a local Tow Company and make arrangements with them ahead of time. When I received the confirmation email, the booking was at the Hampton Inn & Suites Fremont located at 540 East County Rd 89, Fremont, OH, 43420, United States.

Once I noticed the issues, I immediately contacted AAA regarding the issue, approximately 20 minutes after booking the room. They informed me that there was nothing they could do and that I wasn't talking to AAA but was talking to Priceline. Nowhere while I was booking did it ever say I was dealing with Priceline. They told me to call the hotel and see if they would be able to cancel the reservation. I called the hotel and was informed that it was non-refundable booking. I attempted to call my local AAA office in Butler PA and did not get to speak with anyone. I attempted to contact AAA corporate and was disconnected from their service.

I stopped in at the AAA office in Cranberry Twp Pa and they looked into the issue. They called me back later and said they looked into it and there was nothing they could do. I called my credit card company, Discover, and they said the charge has not be pushed through yet. I have made several other attempts to get this issue corrected and they will not give me my money back or change the reservation. About half a mile from the house smoke started billowing out of the vents. I pulled over, popped the hood, didn't see anything, figured I'd call a tow and all would be well. Sadly, the smoke came back, cops and firemen were involved -- AAA, however, was of no help at all. They first wanted me to provide a garage and towing service, (because, like, this is information you would have on hand in such a situation?) and then told me I had to go through the insurance first. (Which, okay, maybe you shouldn't keep that in the glove compartment?) Insurance was like, uh, why isn't AAA helping?

2nd call to AAA, much like the first, although this time they had a towing service but I couldn't tow the truck back home, I had to tow it to a garage (Again, like, this is information we all have handy?) which then (again) turned into you have to call your insurance. 3rd call to AAA by my husband and surprisingly they can cover a half mile tow back to the house no problem. Reading some of the other things that have happened to folks, I realize I'm lucky.

First, I have been an AAA member for more than 20 years. On or about May 1, 2019, I called AAA Road Service as my vehicle would not start. Nearly two hours later the serviceman arrived. I informed him that the battery probably needed to be replaced as it was nearly three and one-half years old. I had requested a new battery be on the service truck. He confirmed my suspicions and proceeded to replace the battery. The battery he had on his truck was one month (according to the sticker on the battery) from the"use by date." (Need to dump this battery on a member before it outdates!) This battery was dusty and dirty having been exposed to dust and probably rain or moisture. I sensed he was not very experienced. I asked him to install temporary power to the vehicle so I would not have to reset the satellite radio, etc. while the battery was disconnected.

I am certain he would have not done so had I not made the request. He proceeded to place a large jump start battery pack on the beige cloth driver's seat. The jump start battery had leads that were more than long enough to place it on the pavement. When he removed the battery pack a noticeable dirt or grease stain was observed on the driver's seat. He offered to wipe it off, but I was concerned he would only make the stain worse. I then called AAA Customer Service in Cincinnati to register my complaint. (AAA likes to call complaints "concerns.") I waited about a week; no response. I called again to re-register my complaint. I asked for an address that I could write to and register my complaint. My request was refused! Several weeks went by, still no response. I then wrote to the AAA national office in Florida. Still no response. Finally, about several weeks later I received a voicemail from Customer Service in Cincinnati.

I returned the call three or four times and left voicemails. Still no response. I was about to write AAA off as an organization that cared not one whit about customer service. Finally, nearly two months from the beginning of this disaster in customer service I received a voicemail offering a partial concession. This offer is based on the assumption that I wish to remain an AAA member! As a marketing professional (retired university marketing professor) this should be the poster boy for incredibly deficient, amazingly inept, and having a mysterious plan for even minimal customer service. It should NEVER take two months to contact a customer and resolve a service complaint. NEVER! I would have awarded a negative score had that option been available.

Instead they send a gas truck at the 2 hour mark to tell me that it will be 2 more hours! I assumed this was Bill's towing in Petaluma that made this decision. I called to complain ask why the basics of customer service were not followed. While on the phone the guy with the service truck decided to open my door to yell at me. Thanks Bill's tow in Petaluma. With my complaint filed with AAA. I wait. Then on 7/1/19 I walk in to pay my registration on my cars. I am informed that I can not use the service I paid for. My investigation is not complete. The manager of the Petaluma branch Michael tells me he has no answers for me.

I ask how they stay in business treating paying customers this way? He said it was AAA standard policy for an out of area town to be put off! I live 20 min from work! He said it was standard to put off the longer tow for the quick local town! I told him I live 20 min from work. I checked google and google maps said my car was 14 miles from home! How was this not a local tow? AAA has never thanked me for 13 years of continuous payments. I only have had 5 tows in that time. I was a premier member! Just sit in a air conditioned cab and both you and the bike are chauffeured home to properly fix it correctly and cheaply. Or have be brought to a good reviewed shop if your on a long haul. Bought a battery from AAA they delivered and installed it and the the bill was what a Advance Auto would have charged just for the battery. Been 7 years and the battery is still going strong. I was told he would do so and will return my call in 15 minutes with the updated time. 2 am I'm still at an empty parking lot with 5% battery on my phone and a dead car stranded waiting for AAA service. I call back the customer service and immediately get told my towing service will be ETA 15 minutes. I asked to speak to customer service to request name of the company doing the towing and was told Alamo and they're pulling in as we speak, to which I replied it's 210 am and in an empty parking lot with 5 cars passing by the streets and no sign of any tow truck pulling in my direction.

She puts me on a brief hold to verify location and return to tell me that due to a high call demand they're 45 minutes away. I asked to speak to a resolution member to file another complaint against the service and the provider and the response was that they will file a complaint and if I was still going to wait or in a safe location or if have somebody to picked me up and they would advised the tow company to call me when they're getting close by. This has been by far the worst experience I have ever had with regards to service. It's a disgrace and a shame to customers the lack of service or resolutions to member other that I'm sorry and I apologize to a person waiting 5 hours to get a service by which I'm paying and it's not free.

I was driving on the freeway and my air conditioner stopped working and then my car started decelerating. I pulled over to the shoulder of the freeway (NOT a safe place) and called AAA. I have had their “premier” service for years and thankfully this was the first time I had to use it. When I called, I got their “automated” system and it could not understand me. Very frustrating. In addition, I got messages that there were problems in Northern California that could hold up service. I held on the line for about 12 minutes trying to reach a live person who could help me. At one point I reached a live person and the representative told that I’d been transferred to the southern California dispatch and she couldn’t help me since I’m located in northern California. They don’t even have a centralized system. I finally reached my husband and asked him to try as well.

After waiting on hold for SEVENTEEN minutes he finally got a live person on the phone. This service is advertised as EMERGENCY car service. What a very bad joke. After almost an hour of this insanity I got a call from the tow truck driver telling me that I wasn’t where I said I was. I told him that I could actually see the exit sign and was exactly where I told AAA I was located. He finally showed up. The whole experience was horrible and I was in a very unsafe place. Thanks for nothing AAA. My husband and I have spent thousands of dollars over the years on AAA membership and when we finally needed it, we were totally let down.

Stripped the bolts on my daughter's tire which COST me money to repair next day. 3rd and final: After FOUR hours, left my husband stranded in another state. Could NOT help him. Sent wrong help at first then wrong tow truck then just left him saying they would try to help TOMORROW!!?? I would not even give one star if that was an option! How do you leave someone stranded!!!! I am a 32 year AAA member and like many others have rarely had to use the roadside service but it gave me peace of mind thinking they would be there to assist me in case of a vehicle problem. I recently called AAA when our car suddenly died in an industrial area with no services close by. I was told a tow would be there in 20 minutes and that I could track them on my phone and would get a call from the driver. None of that happened.... Long story short almost five hours later, 3 different tow companies, I finally got a tow to the shop but unfortunately after hours. To accomplish this I had to call roadside service more than 15 times and finally requested the supervisor.

The supervisor did not want hear what I had gone through during the last four hours sitting on the curb waiting for assistance as the battery on my phone dwindled. He did not want hear about the numerous automated messages I received saying the tow truck (that never showed up) was 5 minutes away. He threatened to hang up unless he could tell me what happened. He went on to say it was not their fault because it was very busy and they were short of resources, in fact been for several days and tow trucks were limited by the police to responding from different towns. My question was why I was a low priority? 68 year old, 32 year loyal member who had used the service maybe 5 times in that 32 years didn’t deserve any priority over other customers? Why were they not responsible for providing the service I was paying for regardless of a “busy” time.

He was less than sympathetic to my frustration after sitting on the curb waiting expectantly after each automated message, each phone call providing a response, looking at the app that tracked the truck which never moved. He finally told me they would dispatch a tow from out of town and it would be another hour! In hindsight, I would have been far better off calling a tow on my own rather than four hours of getting the run around, far better off financially just paying for a tow when the vehicle problems happen and far less frustrated with the lack of customer service promised but not delivered. I am cancelling all of my services through AAA and encourage everyone else to drop their “coverage” also... You will not get the service you need on a timely or courteous manner. So disappointing!!

In fact, I have a work in process Triptik road trip that had 24 stops, that suddenly became invalid due to limitations in the new, unannounced software release. We take a long road trip each year averaging 32 stops, somewhere we actually spend days, others to "fool the tool" to force it to take our preferred route, not necessarily the fastest route. I wouldn't bother using Triptik to plan a trip with under 12 stops because it's easier to do it by hand using a spreadsheet than deal with the "tool". Longer road trips add a level of complexity that Triptik used to satisfy quite well. Not anymore!

This tore out my fender, Axle, Knuckle, control arm, strut & parts of the transaxle assembly. I called for a tow & everybody was busy except AAA. So I paid for a dang membership just to get towed home.

Only used it once more that year for a dead battery. I decided when my renewal came up that their service wasn't what it used to be & told them to not renew. I have received NO LESS THAN (8) calls for a renewal. I'm always told they'll remove me from their list. I told them to cease contact with me & I was physically showing up at one of their regional centers if they call me again. They have no respect for people's privacy anymore.

A MUST READ: I was a 26 year member of AAA until I dropped them. On 09/07/18 I got my friend's 4x4 truck stuck in the sand out in the desert of El Mirage. My friend was also a member of AAA. It was during the early afternoon, in the blazing heat of the day. We had NO water with us. My friend tried for an hour to get the truck out, but was unsuccessful. With no shade or water, my friend started getting sick from the heat, and started vomiting, and I was getting horribly sunburnt and dehydrated.

I called AAA Roadside Assistance and told them the situation, that it was getting dire. At first they sent out a typical tow truck. While on the phone with Roadside Assistance, the tow truck driver refused to give us any of his bottled water, and he refused to help us, because he was afraid of getting his truck stuck. We asked him if we could use his jack, which he agreed to, but when he went back to his truck, he took off and left us stranded in the middle of the desert. He didn’t even offer us a ride to safety.

I’m still on the phone with Roadside Assistance, and the representative showed NO care or concern for us, and told me that NONE of their policies cover dirt roads, not even the 4x4’s they insure. Their policy is that “the vehicle has to be within 10 ft from a paved road.” Therefore, they refused to help me. I cannot believe that I have been giving my money to such an uncaring company for 26 years, who NEVER told me that I would not be covered because I live on a dirt road, which I disclosed to them. I had to find and call a tow truck company that would help me, all the while in a health crisis. We were out there for 7 hours, and it cost me $500, which AAA refused to reimburse me for.

Over 2 1/2 hr wait for AAA roadside assistance to get help for a flat tire on my car. Poor communication from AAA. They weren't going to call/text me back until they had a service truck scheduled to help me. At an hour I called for status. At 2 hours again I called for status. At 2 1/2 hrs again I called for status. At the 2 hr call they stated they had so far called 17 stations who all refused to take the service request. So I phoned some of the companies that declined. 3 of the companies that were 8-14 miles away told me they would not come that far for a AAA call, but would for a regular call or other insurance coverage.

The contracts that AAA has with these service providers is such a low amount that the service providers decline taking AAA service requests. Other factors - this was not rush hour on a busy day - this was a Wednesday evening starting 6:12 pm until 9 pm. This was not in a rural secluded area - I was in a urban area, in Lansing MI by Home Depot only 3.3 miles from the state capitol. It was close to 9 pm before a service truck arrived. I have just had the most infuriating problem with AAA. My husband and I joined AAA at the end of January. On February 2 we needed a tow. We had signed up for the premiere membership and expected to be able to tow within the mileage permissions for that membership level. The initial agent told us that we were still within a seven day wait period and towing was limited to the classic membership range. They said that the only one who could maybe do something about that was the membership department so they transferred me to them. There was nothing membership could do so we canceled the tow. Later that day we had the vehicle towed through AAA to a location within the classic mile range. Later that month we had the car towed 45 miles to our mechanic without issue.

Today my car broke on me 22 miles from my home so I called AAA. While trying to schedule the tow the agent told me that my membership was canceled and that I had canceled it. The membership agent that I spoke to on February 2 and had cancel the tow noted in the account that we were dissatisfied with there service and wanted to cancel the policy. I spoke with three different membership agents including a supervisor and a manager. The first agent told me that she could see where the cancellation was done in error and would get me to someone that could help. The supervisor and the manager told me this was my fault, that it reflects poorly on me since I haven't called them since February, and accused me of canceling it in anger and regretting it now.

In the meantime my daughter and I were stuck on the side of the road in the Texas heat waiting for over an hour before family could get to us. My car is still there and supposedly someone will call me tomorrow though I was assured that no one in the AAA company would fix this to my liking. I cannot believe that this is AAA's level of service.

They never even showed up so I had to pay an Uber driver $30 to come help me instead. Then, they mysteriously CANCELED my membership without notifying me, even though they are still charging me. I can't understand why we would pay for a service to help us when we were in need but then be afraid to use it when we needed it. Isn't that the whole point? All I can figure is they give memberships away for cheap and then suddenly can't afford to be in business anymore. Why offer a service if you can't give it? I was told that there was no problem and that my home policy would not be cancelled. So, of course, my home policy gets cancelled. So I decided, well, the whole point was to bundle the two so if they are going to cancel my home policy, I will cancel the auto policy and take my business elsewhere so I can bundle.

Well, when I cancelled the auto policy, I was hit with a $410 early cancellation fee. So they can cancel on me with no repercussions but I have to pay them when I want to cancel? I was straight up lied to and I will never work with this carrier ever again. BTW, not sure if anyone noticed on the home page here, but AAA is not authorized by ConsumerAffairs. It's amazing that AAA has over 3000 complaints in 2019 and it's not even June! Time to maybe revisit customer service protocol and get the website up to par. Not impressed, seriously considering to join another roadside service! Even the insurance is not top any longer. It's super expensive and customer service does not match up to the annual fees charged. It's 2019, you have my grandmothers maiden name; no excuse why you don't keep me informed, updated and provide a website platform that works smoothly!

I called AAA to have my car towed. Their vendor Davenport towing, came to my house, jumped my car off and caused a wiring fire. I made a claim that they referred to Davenport who would not even return my calls and they denied the claim. No one from AAA or Davenport even investigated. The bill was $1911.00 dollars.

I just got roadside service with AAA on 5-11-19, I needed to have my car towed one place to another so, I could place it in the shop. The first roadside serviceman that came out was very professional and explained he would not be able to tow my car because it would not start. So he dispatched it to a second ** male who came to the residence with a nasty attitude to start with. He placed my car on his truck and before leaving he told me because I had basic coverage he would have to charge me 4.00 additional dollars for every extra one mile totaling to 16.00. I inquired as to why I was not informed of that when I signed up nor did the first guy state anything like that when he first arrived ready to tow my car, but okay I will pay it.

This man already appearing to be aggravated for no apparent reason had a very hostile manner. I looked in my purse to find I only had 20.00 bill. I assume since they charge extra for mileage knowing people may have to pay differences surely he would have change. I explained I did not have any change hoping he did. He stated in a nasty tone “Nope I don’t have any change.” I then stated, "Just give me my keys. You can just keep the four dollars extra." I need to go inside as it was starting to rain. The man then abruptly went over to his truck and got on the phone to call someone. He slammed his door and rolled up his window so I could not hear his conversation. I waited outside as raindrops began to come down.

I repeatedly stated, "Just give me my keys and you can have the additional four dollars!" He then stated I could follow him somewhere, but I declined and stated, "I don’t wish to follow you nowhere! Just give me my keys and take the twenty dollar bill and keep the four dollars." He reached out to grab the money without giving me my keys. I demanded he give me my keys several times. He then stated, "They are in your car." I stated, "Shouldn’t you have put them in my hand like I’m about to do with your money!" The man then abruptly walked fast towards my car and uttered “That’s why I hate dealing with **!” I said, "What did you just say to me?"

He then reached into my car, grabbed the keys and quickly tried to drop them in my hand but instead dropped them on the ground. I asked him to pick them up but he instead snatched the 20.00 from my hand and ran back in his truck and pulled off. I have since reported this matter back to AAA and I will be following up with another complaint to the authorities. This man needs to be fired and definitely could use some sensitivity and hospitality training.
