My car system shut down and could not start on the freeway. Called AAA and a kind lady told me help will be there within an hour to tow the car. Luckily in less than 10 mins we got called by David who managed to tow my car to safety. In half hour it was done! Excellent and professional service from David. Thank you very much.

Watch out. They try to rope you into auto-renew, don't give you any warning about renewal. And then after it processes, they refuse to refund it. Better to get towing service through your auto insurance, and much less expensive.

Juan ** has provided the worst experience. He is not trustworthy regarding quotes for car insurance. Started me off with an amount I needed to put as down payment. I was going to pay with my credit card, then Juan ** said I could not make my down payment with a credit card. I needed to provide my checking account. Made no sense, but whatever. Then he begins to tell me the amount going to be charged on the checking account would be different than the amount being charged with a credit card?? So how did I end up with two different amounts since he said I was not able to use my credit card.

I begin to tell him I do not want the policy with AAA anymore. He says he already charged my card so he couldn't cancel it without me paying a fee. Makes no sense, I never was told the actual final amount to be charged. Yet he went ahead and charged me without my consent. Yet that is how he charged me for the down payment. So unprofessional. At this point, I am tired of him providing different amount every time. So, I ask him to cancel the policy. No thank you.

Everything was fine until he charged my card an amount I did not agree to and was not aware of. It’s been hell getting my refund back and getting this policy to be completely cancelled. This happened back in July. We are now entering September. I am being charged for the car policy I never agreed to and cancelled the same day it was processed. Called in today August 31, 2019, 9:30 a.m. Found he never cancelled the policy. How outrageous. Juan ** has not returned any of my calls, emails, or has had any form of contact with me to resolve the issue. Also, avoids transferring me over to his supervisor. What kind of representative and customer service is this???

I have been a member of AAA for many years, they offer many services, towing, car jumpstart, battery replacement, insurance, etc. Their subscription allows 3 emergencies for 1 year. Recently I have been using their batteries because of convenience to avoid hassles of hauling my battery to the shop and also because there is no alternative when you're stuck somewhere. I have used 4 of my immediate family members cars for their batteries and all of them had to be replaced with a year and a half. The problem has arised when I noticed the battery life was not lasting long enough, and when all 4 cars had issues at the same time. AAA had no issues to come out to the location and they would replace it, but the problem is that they would use one of my 3 occurrences/emergencies for the visit for the warranty. So in this situation my emergencies would be used up quite quickly.

And if you did not have your membership up-to-date they would charge $50 to reinstate your membership, now I think this is an unethical practice especially when you are stuck. In a recent occurrence I decided not to reinstate my membership and wait a certain period of time so I do not get charged $50, so I call back to reinstate my membership and they charged me the regular price and the customer service representative would immediately confirm my transaction through my credit card. That's how it works, the process is an instant approval. I know this because it just happened a couple of days ago and I usually confirm the transaction over the phone, after the call.

A few days after renewing my membership to avoid the $50 charge I had an emergency, so called AAA and come to find out my subscription was not renewed and they wanted to charge me $50 for the renewal. The customer service rep said the renewal did not go through. This sounded strange because it is an instant approval. Either the rep did not process my renewal or they wanted me to get charged $50. I had to fight with a supervisor to avoid the ridiculous charge. My concern is that this may be happening to many consumers.

I own a Land Rover car which has left me on the side of the road twice. Both times their roadside assistance has used AAA to tow the car. Both times I have received extremely poor service, being left there for 4 hours or more waiting while they continuously update the expected arrival time. The last time we broke down at 1:00 PM, the car did not make it to the service center until 8:00 PM that night. These people have no respect for their clients, they fabricate excuses until they can finally locate someone to do the work. I would recommend you avoid this company like the plague.

Took my perfectly fine 2001 Tahoe in for a 100,000 mile service. No complaints from dealership on any major issues with vehicle or suggestions. Just routine upkeep on a vehicle that pretty much sits. The vehicle only had 117+ on it, and they talked me into a transmission flush. 117,164 when I dropped it off initially, 117, 279 when I made it back to them with transmission problems. Transmission fluid apparently leaked in my driveway, didn’t know that until I got on the road. Now they claim it had nothing to do with them, just a coincidence. $792 for maintenance 7/25 $340 for rusted oil cooler line 8/15 and a note that now says it's slipping in third gear on paper but telling me while I’m there and allowing me to drive off. I guess it’s on me to buy a new transmission now.

After voicing my limited avenues to have my issues addressed this is the texted response I received from the manager overseeing my complaint. “Sir, after your actions on social media bashing the store and company, we feel we will never regain your trust and loyalty back and would prefer you come pick up your truck and have it serviced elsewhere.” So I guess they’ve washed their hands of my complaint. Your social media venue should allow both positive and negative experiences the same voice. Great customer service Just had my vehicle towed to a transmission specialist and they advised $2,200 plus labor to fix.

My daughter and son-in-law’s car broke down and we had to with my husband to pick up my daughter and my husband stayed with my son-in-law. They had to wait over 3 hours at night in the middle of nowhere. Is that we thought when we became member, wait for hours? Of course not. They only get your money but they don’t do their jobs! I was recently returning from the bay area on a Saturday via I-80 when my battery light turned on. Eventually, my battery completely died at 2300 on the side of a very busy stretch of I-80 through Fairfield. My battery had just enough life to turn on my hazard lights, but they were fading fast. I called AAA, which I've had for 15 years, and was transferred to the wrong operator so by the time I called back and got the right person it was 23:30. I told them my situation, alone in my car with failing hazard lights in the dark on a busy stretch of highway. They said the very next truck would be routed to me as I was high priority.

I pay to have the 100 mile tow option and requested to be towed the 50 miles to the garage I usually go to, knowing that no one would be open on Sundays and not wanting to miss work. They said they would try and find someone to drive 50 miles but they were going to get me off of the side of the highway first. That seemed reasonable, especially when my hazard lights totally gave out. But they only had 2 drivers, on a Saturday night, in a city, with a 5 lane each direction freeway. After an hour I called for a status update, the people were friendly and said, "The very next truck available." I called my family to tell them I would be much later than expected. At this time my battery had given up and I had no hazard lights to speak of. Two family members drove 50 miles to sit behind me with their lights on so cars could see me.

Unfortunately, I waited on the side of the road for over 4 hours. At 04:00 the tow truck finally arrived and towed me to the nearest gas station. I knew it was my alternator because the battery was fairly new, but old enough to know it wasn't a dud. But a battery had gotten me all the way here, so maybe a fully charged one could get me the rest of the way home.

At that point I asked if I could just get a battery from them but their battery trucks stop making service calls at 20:00. So then I begged to be towed to a 24 hour Walmart (or someplace that was open) so I could buy a battery and hope that it could get me the rest of the way home but the driver was unaware of any open stores and said he could only tow me a few blocks off the freeway. My car was left at a gas station right off the freeway and I was told that the next tow truck drivers came on at 0600 and maybe they could convince one to drive me at 0700 but I may have to wait several more hours. Several more hours on top of the 4.5 hours it already took them to get me to safety when I was sitting in the dark with no hazard lights on a busy stretch on highway!

My family took me to get a battery and we used that to get the 50 miles to home (bad alternator meant it couldn't charge). If you're looking to buy this service for your family members and you want them to be safe and not stranded on the side of a 5 lanes each way freeway for over four hours in the dark with no lights... go with a different company. PS: while I was waiting for my tow I found this page and saw how many others had been having the same struggle. I wish I had seen this sooner. I'm now with a different company and feel far more protected should I ever be stranded in the future.

Under no circumstances should anyone pay AAA for Roadside Assistance. I was a member for 9 years and only used it twice. The last time I needed AAA I had broke down on a bridge in an unsafe location. When I called I was told the response time for a tow truck would be with in the half hour. When I got the text update, it said it would be an hour and a half. Feeling that I WAS LIED TO, I immediately called back to complain and got nothing but excuses. When I arrived home using a different towing agency not affiliated with AAA, I cancelled my membership and expected to receive a refund for the months remaining. Now I find out that you can't cancel your membership even if you are totally dissatisfied with their product!!! AGAIN, DO NOT USE AAA FOR ANYTHING. THEY DO NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR SERVICE.

I was by myself, a single woman, on the side of a major highway after my tire blew out. It was a very dangerous situation. I had to skid to the shoulder of the road when the tire blew. I called the Triple AAA number on my Premium Membership card. Apparently there are different regional offices, but I was not aware of this. The first guy was very condescending and not compassionate. I was just in a dangerous situation that had never happened before and he could care less. He said he "couldn't find the exit where I was located on the map." I'd explained the exit signs and several other factors to give him clues as to where I was. I was on a major highway and could see the exit signs, yet he "couldn't find it."

Then, after a very horrible customer service experience of him downplaying the seriousness of this, being defensive and saying "I'm trying to get you the help you need ma'am" he said 'Oh, we don't handle your area. I will have to transfer you." He flippantly also said "You can call the police." He transferred me and the next customer service rep hung up on me and did not even attempt to call back.

I called back a third time and got a more compassionate woman who went above and beyond to find my exact location and was compassionate. (I was pretty shook up as I was almost in an accident when the tire blew.) Someone was dispatched out who then told me "Oh, I don't change tires. I only tow." The guy was very unprofessional in communication and manner. Typically, when someone is called out for a tire issue, they would change the tire. He said "Well I just wanted to get you off the road. I don't do tires. That's not what I do. I can get someone else to do that. You will have to call back and get someone else to come and do that."

I had to call again, wait another 45 minutes to an hour to get a tire change. All in all it was about a 4-5 hour disruption of my day, a lot of mental turmoil, and very unprofessional, inefficient service. As a single woman who had to deal with that alone, I did not feel safe or valued as a customer. I also filed two complaints with a supervisor and their "customer relations professional," of which I have not received follow up.

I was concerned about the multiple calls for a tire change and they said my account would only be noted for one, but I had to call back to verify that. It was not told to me within the process. (I only get 4 calls a year---and they technically forced me to do two: One for the tow of which I did not request and one for the actual tire change.) I should not have had to call multiple times for service to get off a dangerous highway. I am considering other options due to this. AAA seems to be an OK if you have time and money to waste or you're stuck at home or somewhere familiar, but if you're truly in an emergency situation, have an issue that involves actual top-notch service, they are not worth the money paid per month for membership.

First instance the guy was on time but when I waited for him at the dealership he was a little delayed. He had went and picked up a young lady and they both had Starbucks. I insisted he knock $10 off my bill or I would call in and explain the issue. Second instance my parents are stranded about 40 miles from home. Topeka to KC. Tow times are not being updated - we’re having to call and ask what the heck is going on. Every time we call they say, "Oh he’ll be there in about 25 minutes." It’s been two hours from the initial call. On the initial call they were quoted 30 minutes. Still stranded...

I came out of a local establishment in the middle of town to find I had a dead battery. I remembered I had a AAA card that I have been paying for every year since 1986! Finally, I needed them so I placed a assistance call. They pinpointed my location and sent me a text. That was logged at 1:03 pm. They told me it would be 45 minutes. After a hour of waiting in 98 degree heat, I called them again. They told me they had no record of my first call. I said they had to because they sent me a text. They tried to connect me with the local office, for some reason, and no one picked up. Finally, the head office called me and said someone was on their way..... He showed up 1 hour later! Called AAA this morning for a tow truck for my wife's BMW. Troubleshot it last weekend, looks like fuel pump. Was going to schedule a pickup in advance, they do not do that. Call the morning of your appt at the dealership. Called this morning at 7AM. Asked for a tow truck, they said one would be there by 0805. At 0800 the Camel Towing service truck arrived.... No tow truck. It was his second tow issue (not a service call) of the morning, he was not happy. Neither was I. Called AAA back, they were very unconcerned.

After speaking with a supervisor, she explained that they normally send a service truck first as it solves 90% of the issues. I explained if I ordered steak and you brought me chicken, not what I asked for. Did not really understand why I was upset? Now late for work and now a TOW TRUCK would be here by 9:10. He called at 9:15 to tell me he was on his way. He arrived at 09:35. Now really late for work. Tow truck driver was GREAT. This membership was a Christmas Gift from my Brother in Law. They tow 8 miles for free (unless you upgrade to next service level). Next year Bro, get be a bottle of bourbon and we will call it even. To be fair, AAA offered to "not count my service call" as one of my four. Had this 3 years, never called once. Not doing me any real favors.

We were abused by AAA towing service. 8/19/2019. The vehicle was a mercury mountaineer suv. I was a driver and my husband was a passenger. We were manipulated by AAA agents for about 7 hours under hot weather (94 degree by the car thermostat). Finally, we paid a local towing service by ourselves after 4:30pm and got off the road.

My suv engine stopped on the road at 9:30 am. We called AAA. The first promise was 12:30pm and trying to get a faster service. And then they kept scheduling delays (at least 6 times). After every delay no service Truck showed up at the new time. We made more than dozen calls and got so many bad answers and promises. They tried making us leave the car on the road and we rejected them over and over. The four police officers involved that day from the morning to the later afternoon. Maybe the location was closed to the Space center and had some security issues. In the afternoon, 2 police officers kept staying with us until the car was finally towed. They provided some water to us. My husband is 72 years old and was under heat so long time. It was high risk to develop serious medical problems.

The second day (8/20/2019), I called AAA to complain the situation and wanted to cancel my membership because I have zero trust about their service after the horrible experience. I wanted to get my membership fee resound and reimburse my towing cost ($84) because I still was under insurance policy at 8/19/2019. The supervisor woman Saith employee ID #** said that I only had two choices: refund membership fee or reimburse towing cost. I don’t know how much reimburse she would offer. I was pushed to give up the towing reimburse and took the membership fee refund. I really feel the membership benefits mean nothing in the future. I complain them outrageously abusing customers and even not showing any real apology afterwards. After years being the member and this new experience, my conclusion is that AAA is very bad and cheats customers. They should be out business, because the old AAA is gone.

I want to start this off by saying that the flat tire was my fault after hitting a ditch in the side of the road. I pulled over and called Triple AAA for a repair, and I gave them my location (It was called Gunpowder Falls State Park: Headquarters) and I was told it would take about half an hour to an hour. I was a bit annoyed, but I figured I'd wait until someone came up.

I was called three times that someone was going to arrive and that they were sorry for the delay. About 30 minutes after that call, the guy that was suppose to change my tire called and said he couldn't find my location. It turns out there was another Gunpowder State Falls Park about 30 minutes away from where I was (and the dispatch didn't bother to ask more details if I was at the right location, and assured me there was only one Gunpowder State Falls Park area).

So instead of taking the time to drive the 25-30 minutes to get to my car, he ended up calling dispatch to try and find someone closer. They did, but the guy that was "closer" was already doing another job, and he was going to take an hour to get there. So it's now 8:30 PM, and still no help. 9:45 PM finally hits and SOMEONE finally came, and was able to put the new tire on, and thankfully knew what I was going through since apparently this section of Triple AAA only has a handful of drivers. I wouldn't have minded that if the last guy that was supposed to help decided to take the simple 30 minute drive to my location. If he had another car to take care of, they could have waited, lord knows I did for the past two and a half to three hours.

I'm thankful that someone came by and that I was given updates on the situation, but I am absolutely infuriated that it took this long for just a simple tire change, a tire change that I could have done myself since Ben, the driver that worked on the tire, let me know that my Car Jack also has a tool to remove the tire. I will give him the highest form of praise for his help, sympathy, and advice alone.

Please hire more people to help with roadside assistance so that there will actually be someone closer, and please have dispatch ask more question. I would prefer to not have myself or anyone else wait as long as I did, especially if it had been something FAR worse than a flat tire. Had I known that the multiple Gunpowder Falls State Parks were going to be a thing, they could have asked if there was anything else close by or to ask for a specific address. I'm happy the place I was at HAD an address.

Driving west in the Everglades and about 30 miles from Naples, my rear tire exploded. Talk of bad timing, my cell phone was dead. I waved down cars passing a few feet from me at 80 mph. After about an hour a car stopped to see if they could help. They loaned me their cell phone and I called AAA. Asked if I was safe I replied I was in a very dangerous place. I was asked a number of inane questions and at this point I was upset and close to panic. Several state police cars passed without stopping even though my flashers were blinking. It was also lightning.

My rescuers called 911 twice because it was another hour passed. The second call responder said there was no record of any other call. AAA let me down. I was saved by a Road Ranger who quickly got me back on the road. The AAA should have helped me get police assistance since they were ignoring me and I made that clear. At least three state police passed me one when my new friends were actually on the line with 911. I am thinking I will not drive through the Everglades again and finding another road service agency.

Earlier this year my auto insurance went up $200 or 20% despite no claims and an immaculate driving record with no violations. My homeowner's insurance just went up 37%. There has never been a claim. I was told that all their policies are going up because everyone is going to have to pay more to keep the company afloat. I have already cancelled my auto insurance and am considering canceling my homeowner's as well. These increases are grossly excessive. Think twice about using AAA. They were a great insurance company, but seem to be in trouble. I think that state insurance commissioners should be looking at them.

News flash if you own a motorcycle and you don't know who these guys are you need to, have one of their cards or do a bookmark, a save whatever you need to do to keep their number in your pocket. My wife and I were down on highway 60 tonight 11 p.m. flat tire on a Gold Wing. Called AAA (we are premier card holders), got the runaround for over two hours and they had still not dispatched the call!!!

Keep that in mind, so we googled motorcycle towing companies looking for someone to give us a hand that would take AAA and found KnowTow. Debbie was absolutely wonderful and informed me KnowTow was a AAA sub contractor then she asked me how long we had been waiting on AAA to respond! I told her that it was 11 pm when we made the first call and it was well after midnight and they still had not been able to find a tow company.... Well she got on the phone immediately with AAA and got that issue resolved and had AAA Dispatch the job to KnowTow immediately and.... along with some serious ** chewing on the AAA dispatcher and to my knowledge it's going to be readdressed again tomorrow with their AAA rep. I too will be my AAA office in Lakeland.

Fantastic people at KnowTow. The service was great and Kevin came over to pick up my bike. Was professional. The equipment he used was top-notch 100% and I've got nothing but five stars and if it had more they had got more. We need more companies like this in Florida. If you're a biker I can only say at some point in your life you will need a tow and knowTow is the way to go????

This morning I visited our local triple AAA office in Lakeland, Florida and meet with Peggy ** (Field Insurance Manager). After her reading my review as posted to KnowTow she without hesitation copied the review and is going to take it up the ladder and urged me to again post my response to Triple AAA. So here it is. Was the most unprofessional response to a an roadside service request or any customer service I have experienced. Needless to say we are reconsidering our renewal with Triple AAA. The coverage is for our cars, motorcycles and RV. Frankly I think Triple AAA should give us a year free and deduct that from Bonuses (could be an eye opener for the VIP's) and change their handling of service requests in the following way:

    1. Change the way service requests are handled by their telephone boiler rooms by allowing the first contact to stay on the phone with the person requesting service until a subcontracted provider has been given the authorization necessary to meet roadside emergency needs.

    2. An in depth review and modification to the training of personal as to the hazards and outright dangers a motorcyclist is in while they are waiting for roadside service! Such as the weather conditions and the lack of protection from the animals as well as other possible threats by someone that would find a single person stranded and exposed.

    1.

I have been a classic AAA member for 3 years. This is the first time I had to use the service. I waited patiently for 2 hours for AAA to show up. Once they showed they said we owed money for towing more than 5 mile radius. When I called to request tow service there was no mention of additional fees. The service agent left me completely unprepared, wondering if I was being scammed by the tow company. I called to explain my frustration of my customer service experience to AAA. The customer resolution representative told me I should have been notified that there were additional fees, but that there was nothing they could do about it now. She also said they probably assumed I knew about the fees because I have been a member for 3 years. Quality customer service agents do not make assumptions.

Sorry I don’t pull out my AAA rule book and read it daily. I expect that when I’m stranded on the side of the road I can pull out my card, talk to a representative and get ALL of the information I need to know. Instead of taking accountability for failing to give me all the necessary information for a successful experience, their customer service department blamed me. Frankly they were very rude and made no effort to resolve the situation. I told them I would be canceling my membership and they said they didn’t care. So much for a “resolution” department. Myself and my boyfriend, a 23 year member, will be cancelling our memberships. AAA's motto is “expect something more”, my expectations were minimal, and AAA couldn’t even meet the bottom line in customer service. DO NOT PURCHASE.

I was awoken by a idling flatbed AAA truck outside my bedroom window at around 7:15. No driver in sight so after about 10 minutes of fumes going in my window, I look for the driver, I go outside and locate the driver somewhere across the street and down the block. Since it is illegal to leave a vehicle idling, I ask him to turn off the engine and thanks for waking me. Driver tells me to "get a life" and how his house is better than mine, etc. etc. Okay. So I just canceled my membership and filed a police report. That's what I think of AAA. CHAPTER 9. Stopping, Standing, and Parking. 22515. (a) No person driving, or in control of, or in charge of, a motor vehicle shall permit it to stand on any highway unattended without first effectively setting the brakes thereon and stopping the motor thereof.

They sent out an email saying you could get a free Associate Membership for somebody in the same household when signing up a member for automatic renewal of the Roadside Service Plan. What they failed to mention:
    1) Following the link they provided to sign up gets you no Associate Membership. You have to call, and they don't even provide the number in the email.
    2) If you do call, then the "free Associate Membership" is only good until the next renewal date, which could be a very short period.
    3) On that date, and every year after, the full amount will be charged automatically to renew the Associate Membership.

So, this is no accident, they are trying to make people think they are getting more than they really are. Highly deceptive advertising!

My family and I have been members of AAA for over 15 years - the highest level of coverage, Platinum membership. I live in the desert in Arizona, with 110 degree temps on average in the summer. My car had a flat tire when driving in the Mill Mountain Campground in Globe, AZ. AAA refused to assist me, saying they did not service the road we were on. My family was literally stranded, with no one in sight to help us. I drove on the tire rim for 20 minutes when a nice person who happened to drive by, helped us. If we walked to the nearest service station it would have taken 4 to 5 hours - and the temperature was over 100 degrees. I had a second incident about 2 months prior - my daughter's car broke down close to the house. I was annoyed with the car and when I talked to the AAA representative I made an off-hand remark that was not intended as a real plan - that I would trade the car in.

AAA lady jumped on the statement and said, rather gleefully I might add - like she caught me - that AAA did not cover towing for that reason. I called a second time to check about towing because I never had any problem with AAA in the past. I was told I had been recorded and my statement proved their initial decision was correct. I had to have the car towed at a cost of $285 by a private company. I complained to AAA by phone and a rep said to mail proof of my towing bill and they would reimburse me. Today I received a letter saying they would not reimburse me. Needless to say, I am dropping AAA. I now have roadside service through my car insurance.

    1) They Jacked my insurance rate, (no accidents or tickets, perfect record) at least 50%. I went to Allstate, same insurance policy $60.00 a month less, back to what it was at AAA.

    2) Towing has gone down the tubes. I have waited almost 2 hours for a driver then it was unbelievable...The driver told me about AAA firing all of their drivers and now use independent contractors. I waited for a truck for over an hour, the drivers in Oakland, CA did not want to come tow it so they had one come all the way up from Fremont to tow me to Richmond! This is NOT Great AAA customer service that I have been used to in all my AAA years... This is nothing but Greed at the top now.

I've been a AAA member for probably 20 years, but never have I had to wait 4.5 hours for roadside assistance. The people at AAA were personable and professional, but in the end, if you aren't getting the service you paid for, what's the use of having a AAA membership? Had I known, I would have called a local tow truck and asked AAA to reimburse me. The tow truck driver who finally arrived was actually from a city an hour away. Obviously, AAA does not have enough wrecker companies under contract or is not offering enough compensation to make signing a contract with them worthwhile. Either way, they had better step it up!

Never once have I had a problem with AAA until yesterday. Let me sum this up the best I can. After being lied to about arrival times from a tow company AAA hired and having to call 4 times to get a estimated time which they ended up not coming for over a hour past that no big deal. I’m patient. Well they then make more excuses about not having a truck. They bring a tow dolly truck. “I have a Subaru Wrx. It’s all wheel drive.” I asked them, "It’s awd. How will you tow it!?" They said it is a 4 wheel dolly. I said, "Okay that’s fine." Long story short they then say they can’t do it. Car is too low! The damn car is stuck! And they knew that I asked them before they came! They assured me it’s no big deal.

Well they then only hooked back wheels and slowly moved it across street to a gas station where their flatbed was supposed to come!? Well long story short the tow truck driver gave my key to a gas station attendant. Someone has been in vehicle because it was locked and wheel was turned! I asked AAA where key was. They can’t find it and finally after arguing they found it but haven’t towed my car. May I remind you it’s almost been 24 hours since they was supposed to have came. I have text messages from the tow driver lying to me and I guess AAA about who was with the car etc. I’m very very disappointed in this. Now I’m in the worry someone may have made a copy of my key... This is crazy and not what I pay for...

I was treated disrespectfully by the customer service representative on 8/9/19 named Jay. I did not have good cell phone service. I was on a back road in an extremely rural place. I believed that because the city was so small that if the agent knew that I just left the city on a particular state road that they could find me. I explained several times that I was headed west on a specific highway and that if the service tech contractor (that is usually a company in a nearby location) would be familiar with the location. My elderly father drove 45 minutes from a nearby city to help me.

The entire 45 mins I was on the phone with AAA! I looked at my phone and saw that I did have location services on at all times. I also noticed that there is a new feature called AAA Drive. This feature scores your driving. It tells the location, time, and other elements within the drive (cell phone distraction and several other features). There was also a map that showed the exact time and location of where I was on that day. Why in the world did I have to argue with the rep about my location when apparently the company has specific data points on me as a consumer? I’ve been with the company for 19 years. What is the point of having AAA with all of the upgraded services when I cannot even receive the services that I am paying for because of incompetent and insensitive staff?

We purchased a new plan with expedited fees added for about $125, since we had plans to drive home that day ASAP. They sent assistance but he didn’t have the proper tools to change the battery, so he just recommended we go to the shop across the street. We could have gotten a jump from anyone, including the shop across the street. We had to wait for the shop to serve many clients before them and the delay caused us to be 8 hours behind schedule, resulting in stress for everyone. Our family has had AAA membership for years. We had a tire blow on our boat trailer as we were headed from Cincinnati on I-74 West. We were in a very dangerous spot on the side of the road. I called AAA's emergency number and was told that I had reached the Cincinnati office and they would have difficulty finding help in Indiana. I was incredulous, I responded that I thought this was a roadside service and this was the whole point of having a national company to help me. At this point I was cut off during a transferred call. I called again, had to go through the whole menu as semis are whizzing by us - to be told that he could give me a number of a wrecker service in the area that I could call. Seriously??

I dug out my pen and paper and called the number - out of service. I called AAA a third time - by this time I was not calm, cool, and collected at the woman on the phone wanted me to be. I repeated our situation and she said that our boat was not on our policy and that it would be 7 days to add it to our current policy. I said, "so you are going to leave me here on the side of the road with NO help." No response from AAA. At this point, my husband, who has Parkinson's Disease was falling down on the side of the road and I needed to assist him. I hung up. A sheriff from the area pulled over and called a local wrecker for us and they were extremely helpful. If I could award 0 stars - I would have!

I rarely ever write reviews; my leisure time is usually spent enjoying life. I am taking the time to write this review in hopes that I will save someone else from going through the same horrendous experience that me and my family had from AAA. My vehicle wouldn't start in the morning, so I checked every possible box on the list, including swapping out the battery. I called AAA to have it towed to a mechanic. As soon as I gave AAA the information that they needed, I received a call from the local towing company here in Sonora, CA. This was at 7:36am (when I received a call from the local towing company). I called back after 11am when no truck had arrived, they said it would be another 2 hours. I waited... around 3pm (nearly 4 hours later) I decide to call AAA to get a different towing company to come get my car.

I spoke to a male customer service representative who told me that AAA doesn't have the power to get me a different company, and that I have to use the local company, even though I knew that Haidlen Ford in Oakdale, CA is only 35 miles away from me. The local company is within 5-10 miles and I had to use them (the company that told me 2 hours and at this point in time it had been 8 hours & 105 degrees outside). The AAA customer service rep said he would send out the call or alert again to Vic's Towing (the local company that I had been dealing with). I get a call from Vic's Towing, and was quoted 2 more hours. Again, I wait... a little after 5pm I receive a call from Vic's Towing asking me if I "still needed a tow today?"

I reply, "Yes, of course I need a tow today, my car won't start, I have been waiting since 7:36am (10 hours at this point). It's 105 degrees outside, my wife is pregnant, and we are leaving tomorrow morning to go to Southern California for summer vacation; Yes, I need a tow today!" I got hung up on. Then the female dispatcher at Vic's Towing called me back and told me how it had been a long day and a truck of theirs had broke down, and how she needed a couple of beers after she got off from work. Then said, "I can have a truck at your house by 10PM, but they will store the vehicle in the towing yard and tow it to my destination first thing in the morning." I wait until 10:30PM (15 hours waiting), no tow truck arrives. I call Vic's Towing, and ask, "How long until the truck arrives, it was supposed to be here at 10PM?" The female night dispatcher tells me they have nothing on file for me or for a call coming to my location or for my vehicle.

I proceed to tell her that I have been waiting since 7:36am, and I had placed 2 calls directly through AAA and 2 calls directly to Vic's where the dispatcher even wrote down specific instructions on where my vehicle is going, how is there nothing on file? She shows no signs of empathy for our situation and says, "There is nothing I can do until tomorrow, call back in the morning." And she hangs up. I call AAA and break down everything that had just happened, which I was told that if I wanted a tow from Haidlen Ford (a AAA account holder) I would have to pay out of pocket for the tow, then wait two months for a review for "possible" reimbursement. After telling the AAA rep there is no way I'm doing that, they give me a specific case number for the incident and tell me that I should receive a call from Vic's and Haidlen Ford Towing to get my car tonight. I hang up from AAA at 11:20PM.

I wait until 1AM (18 hours waiting, and I'm leaving for Southern California--a 7 hour drive-- in 5 hours, which means neither my pregnant wife or myself slept before our journey, because of the extreme frustration we were experiencing). I tell AAA (at 1AM) to cancel the call to Vic's and Haidlen Ford, that I didn't want them to touch my vehicle, and that I expect a call from the customer service management to review what had just happened, and there is no way that Vic's should be a AAA account holder, and that the policy within AAA 'for authority over a towing call' should not reside with the towing company; AAA should have the authority to get me a tow from a neighboring AAA account holder. Was any of this passed up the line to management? I received a call a week later from the department that handles bad customer experiences. Jenny (a AAA employee) did not ask me about my experience.

She proceeded to give excuses for AAA and Vic's as I sat in astonished silence, knowing that she did not utilize the recorded calls to review what had happened, nor did she try to remedy the situation. I said that someone from higher up should review the case and call me back; Jenny told me that her call was all that I was going to receive and nobody else was going to call me. How is that for customer service? AAA is the worst company I have ever dealt with in my entire life, I have been ripped off by con artists and have had a more pleasant experience getting robbed. If you don't have AAA roadside service, I would not recommend that you do business with them. Daniel **, Oakdale, CA.

It took four calls, and 40 minutes, to get service scheduled for my dead battery. I live outside Philadelphia; the 800 number staff kept referring me to a Central PA club. Finally the rep claimed they had connected me to the right club, and that I'd receive a callback with my appointment time within 30 minutes. That was 2 hours ago. I just called only to find out - whoops, they referred me to the wrong club, and NEVER SCHEDULED THE SERVICE!

I've been sitting here with a dead car for 2.5 hours and no one bothered to call me. They claimed someone would call within 5 minutes to get me service - but guess what it's been 10 minutes and no call. I'm going to contact an attorney or file a small claims case to recover my lost time due to their complete stupidity. Reps are badly trained, the computer system is incorrect and no one takes responsibility to fix anything.

I told him I don't have many options and what would I have to pay them to pay them to simply CHANGE MY SPARE WITH THE BLOWN OUT TIRE. He called his dispatcher and she told me the fee would be $269!!

In addition, the tech would not give me a copy of the receipt. While I know my trailer was not covered, when the vehicle pulled up, it had the AAA logo proudly displayed across the hood. I would think that AAA screened and vetted their affiliates to ensure they are taking care of their customers for whatever our need may be. The tow company they told me was coming was never dispatched to me!!!!! I didn't find this out until 3 hours into my wait time and when I demanded to know the name of the company I called them and they had no idea who I was!!!! They went through their entire call log for 12 hours of that day and I was not nowhere on that list.

After over 3 hrs of calling AAA & asked them why they are only calling 1 tow company anyway with hundreds of members stranded on a night that had flood warnings they had no answer. I demanded they contact another company from outside the city I was stranded in and that's when they finally did that and the tow company that came after 4.5 hours of me being left alone & hysterical in addition to needing my lupus medication which was home, the tow company that came sent a driver high as a kite, he towed my car & when he was pulling it off of the truck damaged the underneath of the front end, cracked the front fender & I was screaming for him to stop driving it that the car front end was getting stuck on the bed of the tow truck & he denied it but I have it on video.

Each time I called AAA they would blame the tow company so I was LIVID with them and started destroying them online with reviews meanwhile, AAA used disgusting deceitful business practices that resulted in the slander and assassination of character of an innocent tow truck company that was never called. AAA staff is so utter incompetent and the cover ups to their errors are disgusting. I will not stop fighting to hold them responsible for that entire night. I got the BBB involved so they can post this disturbing inhumane treatment of me, after AAA has avoided my calls this entire week and when they did answer would lie and tell me they had to review all the phone calls that night and the detailed account of everything but they never call back.

I am not going away and plan on filing a CIVIL lawsuit for the hell I went through that night. They told BBB they would refund & cancel my membership but I cannot have my membership canceled no matter what I went through that night!!! I am disabled and cannot take the chance of being stranded with no way to pay a tow truck on site and not have a roadside service. So my car was stuck at work so I called them and the operator said they will be there in like 30 mins so I waited and had to call again to be met with the same answer only to wait again. Up to 4 calls were made so we gave up. Luckily a buddy of mine was coming out of work late night to pull my car home with a rope.

We are nursing our sun burns after waiting outside for a tow truck for the second day, and this is what we learned. At some point without notifying the members of the following change, and after collecting our membership fees, AAA has enacted a new way to condition access to their members' prepaid services. While before, the roadside assistance contractor was simply to make sure that your ID name matches your member card name, now AAA has its contractors SCAN and RETAIN all details of your driver's license.

So, if it is not OK with you to have some guy on a truck collect your name, DOB, home address, driver's license number, or any other details contained on the back strip of the driver's license for undisclosed use, which may include selling it, ID fraud, or just stalking your house and children, then be aware of this new practice of AAA. We will be cancelling our decade-long AAA membership for their abusive and predatory practices and stealing of our days, as we await for their service.

Yesterday, we had to wait almost 5 hours for a tow truck, and it never came. We sat under the blazing sun on the promise that the tow truck would arrive 30 min to 2 hrs soon. We could not go indoors, making ourselves available to meet the truck and guide it to the car. The truck never came. The Roadside Assistance service was unpleasant and unhelpful. The AAA local office (215-343-2660; Mike) was incompetent to explain the membership Plus service (which includes the tow I ordered) they advertise and collect fees for.

The Customer Relations Service (Carolyn and Christina) could not explain their own Roadside Assistance policy, specifically, how does a member (I have been a member for over a decade, I am "Plus" member) get compensated for a pre-paid (since AAA membership is pre-payed for a year ahead) service when it is not provided, for hours stolen from our lives, and for pain and suffering endured. They put me on hold for so long it drained my half-full phone battery, leaving me on the side of the road AND without a working phone. AAA advertises a service - we prepay - they do not provide - what is the punity?

The last time that we used the AAA tow service, on a dead-cold winter day, we waited for 4 hours. We learned of the bait-and switch scam of AAA towing contractors: The tow company that your request is dispatched to dodges it for long enough to exhaust you onto calling for a private tow from the same area, so that a fellow tow man gets his full asking price. This is a courtesy practice of the local (to where you are stranded) towing businesses. We brought it up to the AAA Roadside Assistance staffs' attention at that time. Our experience yesterday of almost 5 hours waiting being baked under the sun suggests that AAA took no steps to remedy this fraud and deceit against its own customers!

AAA, please mail me the text of a contract implied in my AAA Plus membership along with the related policy details. We want our pre-paid towing service - so, we will be ordering it again today and every day thereafter until it is provided. We welcome any news crew to join us to document live an actual experience of a AAA Plus member that is likely similar to multitude of others who did not want to spend their family time on a similar post.

They picked my car up from the body shop and dropped it in front of my house partially in the street and left me to figure it out. Would not send another truck out to assist. Said I would have to pay another company out of pocket to get the car to my backyard.

My incident began in the wee hours of the morning on July 7th. After returning from a red eye flight from LAX and traveling cross country with my husband, small children, and elderly mother, I arrived at BWI to discover that my car would not start. I immediately suspected that my battery power was depleted, and I called 1-800-AAA-Help for Roadside Assistance. My call was dispatched to the Mid Atlantic AAA office since I was outside of range of my home office, the Southern PA office, located in York, PA.

Roadside Assistance was dispatched at 1:30 AM and technicians arrived by approximately 2:15 AM to our location, where we had left our car during our west coast vacation. We received a battery jump from the Roadside Assistance technicians and began our long journey home to our residence in York, PA. After traveling approximately .2 miles from the hotel parking lot, our car died again, and we had to push it into another parking lot. This one was dark and desolate. I immediately called AAA Roadside Assistance back to report that we were again stranded. This is when our problems began.

The dispatcher who accepted my calls was completely incompetent. At first, he did not dispatch help. I detected this when text messages confirming my request were not apparent. When I called back to inquire and confirm that help was on the way, the dispatcher revealed he didn’t know what type of technician to call out. We told him to dispatch anyone who could assist. We just wanted someone to come. For the next 3 hours we received notifications that someone would be arriving momentarily, and to no avail, those who were promised did not arrive as they were supposed to per AAA’s communication. The Dispatch unit was extremely disorganized, not properly trained and consequently we waited 3 and ½ hours for help that should have arrived in approximately 45 minutes.

I am not a mechanic, nor do I have a mechanical background to diagnose automobile problems. I expected that AAA would dispatch competent individuals who would help us navigate this unfortunate situation. They did not. The root cause of our issue was that our battery needed to be charged. Instead, they advised we needed an alternator. We incurred almost $300 in towing fees and $250 to rent a car to get home. They should have been equipped to jump our car and they had no clue what they were doing. Steer clear and if you get stranded, do NOT rely on AAA. You will fare better on your own.

Two hours later I was told to wait another 90 minutes. It turned out they never connected with a towing operator. I must have talked to a dozen customer service people, each with a different story. The bottom line is my car is still in a vacant parking lot 15 hours after my original request for assistance. Not one follow-up phone call by a supervisor either despite my many requests. The people are fine but their SYSTEMS seem to be from the 1930's with party phones. Everyone apologizes but NOBODY taking responsibility to get the the bottom of what is going on!

Apparently AAA feels that just two supervisors for the entire East coast is sufficient (ONE in Tenn & ONE in FL) - WTF? Every time you call service line you're on hold for 10-20-30 minutes - then you speak to people who have near zero info and ZERO Power to make anything happen. With this pathetic of service AAA will be the next big company that disappears like Blockbuster, Kodak etc. SAVE YOUR MONEY - Simply call a local Tow Company and make arrangements with them ahead of time. When I received the confirmation email, the booking was at the Hampton Inn & Suites Fremont located at 540 East County Rd 89, Fremont, OH, 43420, United States.

Once I noticed the issues, I immediately contacted AAA regarding the issue, approximately 20 minutes after booking the room. They informed me that there was nothing they could do and that I wasn't talking to AAA but was talking to Priceline. Nowhere while I was booking did it ever say I was dealing with Priceline. They told me to call the hotel and see if they would be able to cancel the reservation. I called the hotel and was informed that it was non-refundable booking. I attempted to call my local AAA office in Butler PA and did not get to speak with anyone. I attempted to contact AAA corporate and was disconnected from their service.

I stopped in at the AAA office in Cranberry Twp Pa and they looked into the issue. They called me back later and said they looked into it and there was nothing they could do. I called my credit card company, Discover, and they said the charge has not be pushed through yet. I have made several other attempts to get this issue corrected and they will not give me my money back or change the reservation. About half a mile from the house smoke started billowing out of the vents. I pulled over, popped the hood, didn't see anything, figured I'd call a tow and all would be well. Sadly, the smoke came back, cops and firemen were involved -- AAA, however, was of no help at all. They first wanted me to provide a garage and towing service, (because, like, this is information you would have on hand in such a situation?) and then told me I had to go through the insurance first. (Which, okay, maybe you shouldn't keep that in the glove compartment?) Insurance was like, uh, why isn't AAA helping?

2nd call to AAA, much like the first, although this time they had a towing service but I couldn't tow the truck back home, I had to tow it to a garage (Again, like, this is information we all have handy?) which then (again) turned into you have to call your insurance. 3rd call to AAA by my husband and surprisingly they can cover a half mile tow back to the house no problem. First, I have been an AAA member for more than 20 years. On or about May 1, 2019, I called AAA Road Service as my vehicle would not start. Nearly two hours later the serviceman arrived. I informed him that the battery probably needed to be replaced as it was nearly three and one-half years old. I had requested a new battery be on the service truck. He confirmed my suspicions and proceeded to replace the battery. The battery he had on his truck was one month (according to the sticker on the battery) from the"use by date." (Need to dump this battery on a member before it outdates!) This battery was dusty and dirty having been exposed to dust and probably rain or moisture. I sensed he was not very experienced. I asked him to install temporary power to the vehicle so I would not have to reset the satellite radio, etc. while the battery was disconnected.

I am certain he would have not done so had I not made the request. He proceeded to place a large jump start battery pack on the beige cloth driver's seat. The jump start battery had leads that were more than long enough to place it on the pavement. When he removed the battery pack a noticeable dirt or grease stain was observed on the driver's seat. He offered to wipe it off, but I was concerned he would only make the stain worse. I then called AAA Customer Service in Cincinnati to register my complaint. (AAA likes to call complaints "concerns.") I waited about a week; no response. I called again to re-register my complaint. I asked for an address that I could write to and register my complaint. My request was refused! Several weeks went by, still no response. I then wrote to the AAA national office in Florida. Still no response. Finally, about several weeks later I received a voicemail from Customer Service in Cincinnati.

I returned the call three or four times and left voicemails. Still no response. I was about to write AAA off as an organization that cared not one whit about customer service. Finally, nearly two months from the beginning of this disaster in customer service I received a voicemail offering a partial concession. This offer is based on the assumption that I wish to remain an AAA member! As a marketing professional (retired university marketing professor) this should be the poster boy for incredibly deficient, amazingly inept, and having a mysterious plan for even minimal customer service. It should NEVER take two months to contact a customer and resolve a service complaint. NEVER! I would have awarded a negative score had that option been available.

I ask how they stay in business treating paying customers this way? He said it was AAA standard policy for an out of area town to be put off! I live 20 min from work! Just sit in a air conditioned cab and both you and the bike are chauffeured home to properly fix it correctly and cheaply. Or have be brought to a good reviewed shop if your on a long haul. Bought a battery from AAA they delivered and installed it and the the bill was what a Advance Auto would have charged just for the battery. Been 7 years and the battery is still going strong. I bought a battery from them 2 years ago and still on the warranty, called to have it replaced because it's no charging and unable to jumpstart. I provided the date of purchase, car brand, model and year and date, an hour of waiting they send a minivan with no supplies to tell me they don't carry the battery. They will have to deliver the next day and they will put a call for a tow truck at 1017 pm with ETA of 45 minutes by 1107 pm. 1130 I called the service center because they closed the ticket as they're in location according to their tracker and nobody has shown up. And the customer service says they running a little late, they will be there in 10 minutes.

When asked why they closed the call if I'm still waiting, the replies was, "I don't know." The 10 minutes came and went. I call back and now I get a different customer service James and he puts me on hold and comes back and says due to the rain and the traffic in Miami they're running behind. They will be there in 45 minutes. It hasn't rained since 6 pm and it's now past 1130 pm. No traffic. 1 am came and went and no towing company on sight neither a call. I contacted customer ser. again. At this point I'm very angry. I've been waiting for 5 4 hours for service that hasn't been provided and I get to speak to a resolution team and see that the call has been moved 3 times at this point. I specifically said reroute my call to another company and I don't want Alamo towing handling my services as they're lying and they haven't provided me with the service I need.

I was told he would do so and will return my call in 15 minutes with the updated time. 2 am I'm still at an empty parking lot with 5% battery on my phone and a dead car stranded waiting for AAA service. I call back the customer service and immediately get told my towing service will be ETA 15 minutes. I asked to speak to customer service to request name of the company doing the towing and was told Alamo and they're pulling in as we speak, to which I replied it's 210 am and in an empty parking lot with 5 cars passing by the streets and no sign of any tow truck pulling in my direction.

She puts me on a brief hold to verify location and return to tell me that due to a high call demand they're 45 minutes away. I asked to speak to a resolution member to file another complaint against the service and the provider and the response was that they will file a complaint and if I was still going to wait or in a safe location or if have somebody to picked me up and they would advised the tow company to call me when they're getting close by. This has been by far the worst experience I have ever had with regards to service. It's a disgrace and a shame to customers the lack of service or resolutions to member other that I'm sorry and I apologize to a person waiting 5 hours to get a service by which I'm paying and it's not free.

I was driving on the freeway and my air conditioner stopped working and then my car started decelerating. I pulled over to the shoulder of the freeway (NOT a safe place) and called AAA. I have had their “premier” service for years and thankfully this was the first time I had to use it. When I called, I got their “automated” system and it could not understand me. Very frustrating. In addition, I got messages that there were problems in Northern California that could hold up service. I held on the line for about 12 minutes trying to reach a live person who could help me. At one point I reached a live person and the representative told that I’d been transferred to the southern California dispatch and she couldn’t help me since I’m located in northern California. They don’t even have a centralized system. I finally reached my husband and asked him to try as well.

After waiting on hold for SEVENTEEN minutes he finally got a live person on the phone. This service is advertised as EMERGENCY car service. What a very bad joke. After almost an hour of this insanity I got a call from the tow truck driver telling me that I wasn’t where I said I was. I told him that I could actually see the exit sign and was exactly where I told AAA I was located. He finally showed up. The whole experience was horrible and I was in a very unsafe place. Thanks for nothing AAA. My husband and I have spent thousands of dollars over the years on AAA membership and when we finally needed it, we were totally let down.

Finally left car abandoned in parking lot and got a ride home. 2nd - came to fix a flat tire. Stripped the bolts on my daughter's tire which COST me money to repair next day. 3rd and final: After FOUR hours, left my husband stranded in another state. Could NOT help him. Sent wrong help at first then wrong tow truck then just left him saying they would try to help TOMORROW!!?? I would not even give one star if that was an option! How do you leave someone stranded!!!! I would strongly recommend they create the ability online to cancel service to respect the customer time rather than making the wait so long to cancel.

I am a 32 year AAA member and like many others have rarely had to use the roadside service but it gave me peace of mind thinking they would be there to assist me in case of a vehicle problem. I recently called AAA when our car suddenly died in an industrial area with no services close by. I was told a tow would be there in 20 minutes and that I could track them on my phone and would get a call from the driver. None of that happened.... Long story short almost five hours later, 3 different tow companies, I finally got a tow to the shop but unfortunately after hours. To accomplish this I had to call roadside service more than 15 times and finally requested the supervisor.

The supervisor did not want hear what I had gone through during the last four hours sitting on the curb waiting for assistance as the battery on my phone dwindled. He did not want hear about the numerous automated messages I received saying the tow truck (that never showed up) was 5 minutes away. He threatened to hang up unless he could tell me what happened. He went on to say it was not their fault because it was very busy and they were short of resources, in fact been for several days and tow trucks were limited by the police to responding from different towns. My question was why I was a low priority? 68 year old, 32 year loyal member who had used the service maybe 5 times in that 32 years didn’t deserve any priority over other customers? Why were they not responsible for providing the service I was paying for regardless of a “busy” time.

He was less than sympathetic to my frustration after sitting on the curb waiting expectantly after each automated message, each phone call providing a response, looking at the app that tracked the truck which never moved. He finally told me they would dispatch a tow from out of town and it would be another hour! In hindsight, I would have been far better off calling a tow on my own rather than four hours of getting the run around, far better off financially just paying for a tow when the vehicle problems happen and far less frustrated with the lack of customer service promised but not delivered. I am cancelling all of my services through AAA and encourage everyone else to drop their “coverage” also... You will not get the service you need on a timely or courteous manner. So disappointing!!

In fact, I have a work in process Triptik road trip that had 24 stops, that suddenly became invalid due to limitations in the new, unannounced software release. We take a long road trip each year averaging 32 stops, somewhere we actually spend days, others to "fool the tool" to force it to take our preferred route, not necessarily the fastest route. I wouldn't bother using Triptik to plan a trip with under 12 stops because it's easier to do it by hand using a spreadsheet than deal with the "tool". Longer road trips add a level of complexity that Triptik used to satisfy quite well. Not anymore!

This tore out my fender, Axle, Knuckle, control arm, strut & parts of the transaxle assembly. I called for a tow & everybody was busy except AAA. So I paid for a dang membership just to get towed home.

Only used it once more that year for a dead battery. I decided when my renewal came up that their service wasn't what it used to be & told them to not renew. I have received NO LESS THAN (8) calls for a renewal. I'm always told they'll remove me from their list. I told them to cease contact with me & I was physically showing up at one of their regional centers if they call me again. They have no respect for people's privacy anymore.

A MUST READ: I was a 26 year member of AAA until I dropped them. On 09/07/18 I got my friend's 4x4 truck stuck in the sand out in the desert of El Mirage. My friend was also a member of AAA. It was during the early afternoon, in the blazing heat of the day. We had NO water with us. My friend tried for an hour to get the truck out, but was unsuccessful. With no shade or water, my friend started getting sick from the heat, and started vomiting, and I was getting horribly sunburnt and dehydrated.

I called AAA Roadside Assistance and told them the situation, that it was getting dire. At first they sent out a typical tow truck. While on the phone with Roadside Assistance, the tow truck driver refused to give us any of his bottled water, and he refused to help us, because he was afraid of getting his truck stuck. We asked him if we could use his jack, which he agreed to, but when he went back to his truck, he took off and left us stranded in the middle of the desert. He didn’t even offer us a ride to safety.

I’m still on the phone with Roadside Assistance, and the representative showed NO care or concern for us, and told me that NONE of their policies cover dirt roads, not even the 4x4’s they insure. Their policy is that “the vehicle has to be within 10 ft from a paved road.” Therefore, they refused to help me. I cannot believe that I have been giving my money to such an uncaring company for 26 years, who NEVER told me that I would not be covered because I live on a dirt road, which I disclosed to them. I had to find and call a tow truck company that would help me, all the while in a health crisis. We were out there for 7 hours, and it cost me $500, which AAA refused to reimburse me for.

Over 2 1/2 hr wait for AAA roadside assistance to get help for a flat tire on my car. Poor communication from AAA. They weren't going to call/text me back until they had a service truck scheduled to help me. At an hour I called for status. At 2 hours again I called for status. At 2 1/2 hrs again I called for status. At the 2 hr call they stated they had so far called 17 stations who all refused to take the service request. So I phoned some of the companies that declined. 3 of the companies that were 8-14 miles away told me they would not come that far for a AAA call, but would for a regular call or other insurance coverage.

The contracts that AAA has with these service providers is such a low amount that the service providers decline taking AAA service requests. Other factors - this was not rush hour on a busy day - this was a Wednesday evening starting 6:12 pm until 9 pm. This was not in a rural secluded area - I was in a urban area, in Lansing MI by Home Depot only 3.3 miles from the state capitol. It was close to 9 pm before a service truck arrived. This was horrible service, especially since I am a "Plus RV" member, of which I've had my membership since 1999 (20 years)! This was horrible service.

I have just had the most infuriating problem with AAA. My husband and I joined AAA at the end of January. On February 2 we needed a tow. We had signed up for the premiere membership and expected to be able to tow within the mileage permissions for that membership level. The initial agent told us that we were still within a seven day wait period and towing was limited to the classic membership range. They said that the only one who could maybe do something about that was the membership department so they transferred me to them. There was nothing membership could do so we canceled the tow. Later that day we had the vehicle towed through AAA to a location within the classic mile range. Later that month we had the car towed 45 miles to our mechanic without issue.

Today my car broke on me 22 miles from my home so I called AAA. While trying to schedule the tow the agent told me that my membership was canceled and that I had canceled it. The membership agent that I spoke to on February 2 and had cancel the tow noted in the account that we were dissatisfied with there service and wanted to cancel the policy. I spoke with three different membership agents including a supervisor and a manager. The first agent told me that she could see where the cancellation was done in error and would get me to someone that could help. The supervisor and the manager told me this was my fault, that it reflects poorly on me since I haven't called them since February, and accused me of canceling it in anger and regretting it now.

In the meantime my daughter and I were stuck on the side of the road in the Texas heat waiting for over an hour before family could get to us. My car is still there and supposedly someone will call me tomorrow though I was assured that no one in the AAA company would fix this to my liking. I cannot believe that this is AAA's level of service.

They never even showed up so I had to pay an Uber driver $30 to come help me instead. Then, they mysteriously CANCELED my membership without notifying me, even though they are still charging me. I can't understand why we would pay for a service to help us when we were in need but then be afraid to use it when we needed it. Isn't that the whole point? All I can figure is they give memberships away for cheap and then suddenly can't afford to be in business anymore. Why offer a service if you can't give it? I was told that there was no problem and that my home policy would not be cancelled. So, of course, my home policy gets cancelled. So I decided, well, the whole point was to bundle the two so if they are going to cancel my home policy, I will cancel the auto policy and take my business elsewhere so I can bundle.

Well, when I cancelled the auto policy, I was hit with a $410 early cancellation fee. So they can cancel on me with no repercussions but I have to pay them when I want to cancel? I was straight up lied to and I will never work with this carrier ever again. BTW, not sure if anyone noticed on the home page here, but AAA is not authorized by ConsumerAffairs. The car was not safe to drive, so we pulled it off the road and some good folks took us out in their all wheel. The car is still sitting up there, 12 hours later, and we will either pay to have it towed or shovel it out once we can find transportation. AAA will do nothing because our car isn’t broken down. I am shocked and once we get this figured out, we will be finding another road club. @aaa

I'm a member with AAA for 19 years and these last few years even pay for the extended gold level because I travel lots. However, I have rarely used their services... Today I tried to pay the renewal online and the website did not let me log in. It was explained that my user login info was set with a password I have never used in all my online experience. I called customer service and it irks me how they apologize but nobody is making an effort to prevent these glitches or communicate for an improvement up the chain.

AAA was my choice twenty years ago because of DMV being utterly rude and unprofessional. But my recent visit to the Department office made AAA look unprofessional! It's amazing that AAA has over 3000 complaints in 2019 and it's not even June! Time to maybe revisit customer service protocol and get the website up to par. Not impressed, seriously considering to join another roadside service! Even the insurance is not top any longer. It's super expensive and customer service does not match up to the annual fees charged. It's 2019, you have my grandmothers maiden name; no excuse why you don't keep me informed, updated and provide a website platform that works smoothly!

I just got roadside service with AAA on 5-11-19, I needed to have my car towed one place to another so, I could place it in the shop. The first roadside serviceman that came out was very professional and explained he would not be able to tow my car because it would not start. So he dispatched it to a second ** male who came to the residence with a nasty attitude to start with. He placed my car on his truck and before leaving he told me because I had basic coverage he would have to charge me 4.00 additional dollars for every extra one mile totaling to 16.00. I inquired as to why I was not informed of that when I signed up nor did the first guy state anything like that when he first arrived ready to tow my car, but okay I will pay it.

This man already appearing to be aggravated for no apparent reason had a very hostile manner. I looked in my purse to find I only had 20.00 bill. I assume since they charge extra for mileage knowing people may have to pay differences surely he would have change. I explained I did not have any change hoping he did. He stated in a nasty tone “Nope I don’t have any change.” I then stated, "Just give me my keys. You can just keep the four dollars extra." I need to go inside as it was starting to rain. The man then abruptly went over to his truck and got on the phone to call someone. He slammed his door and rolled up his window so I could not hear his conversation. I waited outside as raindrops began to come down.

I repeatedly stated, "Just give me my keys and you can have the additional four dollars!" He then stated I could follow him somewhere, but I declined and stated, "I don’t wish to follow you nowhere! Just give me my keys and take the twenty dollar bill and keep the four dollars." He reached out to grab the money without giving me my keys. I demanded he give me my keys several times. He then stated, "They are in your car." I stated, "Shouldn’t you have put them in my hand like I’m about to do with your money!" The man then abruptly walked fast towards my car and uttered “That’s why I hate dealing with **!” I said, "What did you just say to me?"

He then reached into my car, grabbed the keys and quickly tried to drop them in my hand but instead dropped them on the ground. I asked him to pick them up but he instead snatched the 20.00 from my hand and ran back in his truck and pulled off. I have since reported this matter back to AAA and I will be following up with another complaint to the authorities. This man needs to be fired and definitely could use some sensitivity and hospitality training.

My daughter was dropped from my policy effective immediately without warning. Apparently she used the membership disproportionately or falling outside the terms and conditions as explained in their Member Guide. They said that they went back 3 years and that she had cost them too much money. So they are striking her, apparently forever. She did have an undependable car. I have been a customer for 18 years, never requiring more than made me a viable member to have. Why could she or I not have been given some type of warning that we were in danger of being cut? We could have adjusted somehow in order not to lose a membership.

The company appears to be on a tear to eliminate members right now, as indicated by some recent reviews here. Customer service was rude and absolutely unfeeling to me when I called for an explanation. You know, it just kind of feels like entrapment. We won't tell you what you have done wrong. One day you will just get a curt letter. And a loud, pushy "customer service" rep if you take it any further.

Had a flat tire east of Crestview, FL. on May 9, 2019. Called AAA and they said they were sending someone out. My spouse and I are in our 70’s and have been members for years. We were uncomfortable because it was a desolate stretch of I-10. After an hour or more Country Towing Service from Marianna, FL showed up but he didn’t have the correct tool to fix our tire. We called around and found the tool and paid for it over the phone with our credit card. CTS left us and he said he was going to pick it up. He never did. He never returned. No one called us. We sat on the side of I-10 for over 3 hours. We finally found Road Mart to come out and change our tire. Horrible service. Will never renew my membership again.

After 33 years of being a AAA Plus member, nearly 25 with AAA Carolinas, they dropped “me”, not my husband, just me because last year I supposedly had too many calls, though I was under the allotted number for our family. The problem being, we have a new driver who forgot once to get gas before coming home. Add in that for part of the year I was driving a borrowed pickup from our church which the gas needle was broken on, while my engine in my car was being replaced after a recall issue. As a result of the new engine, there was a subsequent battery issue I had to call for help on. I’m disabled, I have heart failure and other issues.

Now after all these years of being a member, not using much of anything on the membership, I get unceremoniously booted without warning just because we had a bad year??? Then when you call in you get a snarky witch who refuses to give you any solid info and DARES you to go legal, telling you there’s no appeal or recourse because they are a “private company.” Well darlin, the recourse you have left a disabled, previously long-time faithful member with is to go public, loud and clear, and warn other members and those considering signing on DON’T DO IT!!! You’ll find yourself like all the rest of us you’ll read on here...totally screwed over. Not worth it. Until someone takes over leading AAA Carolinas with a true customer service mentality, go check out other options. You’ll save yourself a lot of heartache.

Worst customer service ever! As a Premier Member, I was extremely disappointed in the time it to get a tow truck to my location in a highly populated tourist area. It took AAA over six hours to have a tow truck respond! At first there was a 90 minute window. After two hours, I called AAA again, only to find out there would be another one hour wait! After each hour when I called them (they didn't call me), there was another hour wait (what a joke). This went on from about 4:30pm until after 10:30pm when the tow finally showed up! Why am I paying for service I'm not getting? NEVER AGAIN! Wish I could rate this service a zero!

While working on my Suburban with many issues, it's now sitting empty of fuel unable to continue repair as AAA will not bring adequate fuel. Customer service has said plus members get 5 gallons max, apparently that's more of a sales tactic lie, even though some reps agree to the 5 gallon statements. Just try and get it when you need it! I signed up for AAA so I could get some peace of mind when I'm on the road. Last time we had a flat tire, the screws were on so tight that we couldn't do it ourselves and a specialist had to bring a machine to do it, so it made sense to get AAA as to not be stuck in a similar situation. This morning I woke up with a flat tire. I call emergency line to put in a request. I have a personal vehicle, when I put in the request, they asked for my license plate number which I gave them. When the guy gets here he tells me that he wasn't able to do it because of my plates and he needed to check in with a supervisor. He comes back and says I have commercial plates on the car and they can only do it for a fee. I have AAA plus. I tell them it’s fine. I am not paying extra for a service I already paid for.

The man leaves and since he says the problems were my plates and I was due to get new plates and had the personal vehicle registration for the car I call them back. They send someone back who asked to see my car registration (which expires in June 2020) that matches my car and since it was Sunday I was due to pick up the new plates that Monday but I had all the paperwork he asked for. They refused to change the tire. It was just a flat tire. I'm already a member and it was my car. They not only refused to change the tire but they wanted to charge me $60 for something that is covered under my membership. Nevertheless, when I signed up for AAA, my understanding was that I would be covered for their services under my membership.

Per other reviews I've read, AAA will find any loophole to shell more money from you. When they say assistance, remember the fine prints: at their convenience and per their discretion. Luckily I got a flat in front of my home. Had I been stranded on the streets somewhere, I would have been stuck with a flat and a bill from AAA. Since I found AAA to be a useless service, I called them to cancel. Not only did I not get all my money back, they prorated my fee to the day of cancellation. If you're looking for peace of mind when you're on the road, make sure you have some extra money laying around that you can shell out to them just in case.

For over 250 reviews basically says it all.

They left me in a hot car when I ran out of gas today coming out of a off ramp onto a highway with my ear all autistic son. The supervisor David treated me with so much disrespect and horrific demeanor. That’s imagine he told me that he is at supervisor of right now work weekends so I’ll be able to talk to her. Every time I cough I kept getting thrown back into the automated system making me repeat myself. Just the yellow one is 20 minutes away love you have a moment.

They finally showed up 45 minutes later. Going for a run out of gas because my shop and tell me that they drove my car all over the place I just picked it up. This experience was extremely scary. I had a drivers just show up at a nowhere - doesn’t even speak to me. It’s in front of my car starts backing up to it to hook me onto a tub when I was just waiting for gas and when I start to get out the car and the driver screens like a psychopath at the top of demanding me to get back into the car again. Another horrible experience with Supervisor and I step in the.

I called AAA this morning to have my car towed to a shop because no one showed up the night before when I was stranded on the side of the road for 3 hours. I told him I wasn't with the vehicle. I left the key in the car for the tow company because I was told that they could tow the car if the key was with the car even though I am not.

The CSR blurted out that I had to be with the vehicle. I said "no I don't." He said "yes you do, I work here and I should know." Umm... I am a CSR also with another company and I know that is the wrong thing to say to a customer, especially a customer that is already frustrated and angry at the service so far. I hung up and called right back. This time I got a woman. She was very polite and listened the entire time at my complaint, unlike the guy that I just spoke to. Guess what?! She connected me to someone that could help me and this person got a tow truck to go pick up my car and tow it to a shop-WITHOUT ME BEING THERE WITH THE VEHICLE!! The tow company called me and was able to take my car to the shop. That is all the CSR first CSR had to do, was listen.

Received a letter canceling my grandson's membership, which I gave him for high school graduation. AAA advertises their membership makes perfect gifts for the graduates in our life. I beg to differ. I have been a 40 year plus member and received a letter, without warning, that my grandson's membership was canceled immediately as a result of the membership being used disproportionately or falling outside the terms and conditions as explained in the member guide. I hate I could not afford to purchase him a brand new car, but even my new car had to have a tow due to a faulty pre-collision system rendered it undrivable out of my driveway.

When I called the AAA Carolinas Member Services phone number to question the 'drop' cancellation of service and asked for an explanation of their vague verbiage, I was told by their Associate that my grandson 'exceeded' what AAA considers to be "average" number of calls. I asked her what was considered average and she responded 1 or 2 times was considered average.

I responded that well I guess I too exceeded my limit. I also questioned why there was no notice whatsoever. I asked to speak to a supervisor or someone to 'explain' that my grandson's used car had a bad alternator and was towed, then a small hole in the radiator, I had that replaced, then it needed a new water pump, which I replaced, then another alternator because the first one was defective, then I replaced the engine, during which time a wire was not put back as it should, requiring another tow for diagnostics & tighten the wire. A flat tire on his car and a flat tire while he was driving my truck.

I should have canceled 3 years ago after my husband sat on a desolate road for 4 hours in Alabama waiting on an AAA approved tow truck who missed him, drove to the next exit and took 30 minutes to return. Now I am in search of a new roadside assistance program! Do NOT give a membership to the graduates in your life. I had to laugh when I saw that advertisement in GO magazine! My girlfriend, her daughter wanted to go to the Tough Mudder in Reno so they took my Lincoln and the car overheated in the town of Auburn so they called AAA. It was a Friday night AAA couldn't pick them up until Monday morning!

So I drove my pickup to Auburn and give them my truck and called AAA again with my personal card and they gave me the same story. I had to wait for almost 3 days to be towed. So I called customer service and spoke with a very nice gentleman who said he was going to reimburse me for my AAA card because it was now worthless! He was also going to sign everybody up for the next year on premium service for free. He also said if I paid to have the car towed AAA would reimburse me for the tow and they would even pay for my gasoline to drive up there to save my girlfriend.

After all those things were accomplished I called AAA and they claimed that the representative had no rights to tell me and promised me all those items and they were going to do absolutely nothing! I thought it was just a simple understanding since we came to an agreement but they completely reneged on all agreements! I promptly canceled my service and went with the new company called Better World Towing. I asked them to be removed from all mailing lists. They still send me mail and say they want me back! Of course they want me back to pay him $350 a year for nothing! People that claim they love AAA have never actually use their service! And they've been paying it for like 20 to 40 years!

Well, my girl locked her keys inside one of our cars while she was at work. Called AAA of WA Bellevue office, and they told me our policy was CANCELLED! They never called me, or sent any text, or any snail mail either to let US know our policy was cancelled. I used AAA just one time this year, 3 weeks ago, and that was it! The contract stated they would tow our vehicles up to 200 miles, and up to 4 times a year. They towed my vehicle only time this year...ONE FREAKIN' TIME! And they cancelled??? WHY?? The tow was well over 100 miles, But less than the maximum (200 miles) ALLOWED LIMIT. I think they got a costly bill from a contracted tow truck company for that one and only tow, and that could be the whole reason why they left us high and dry on the lockout? Maybe, maybe not.

I had problems with another car a couple of other times last month, and they said it would take 2 hours to get a tow truck out. I cancelled that tow, and drove my car 5 mph on the shoulder of the road, not once, but twice because of their SUPER SLOW SERVICE. The other time, I waited well over an hour and a half, then they called me back and said it would take another 90 minutes more for the tow truck to arrive!!!! I SAID FORGET IT!! Sick of this crap! I limped her home once again, it was a NIGHTMARE! Cars honking, people screaming at me etc... Now what If my wife was with our grandkids and this happened to HER?? What if I was out of town? I think what really pissed em off is when I took one of their online "surveys" and told them I would not refer anyone to their business (funny how they sent the survey to my email, but not the cancellation). WHY WOULD I? I was just being HONEST.

Anyways, I rescued my wife, and she was well over 60 miles away, and we ruined her car door to retrieve the keys she left inside. I thought I was paying for Auto lock out service! SIGH I wouldn’t refer this place to my worst enemy. I have dealt with A LOT of businesses in my life, but this is POSITIVELY the worse I've ever ran across. Also, when I asked them about my cancellation they wouldn’t tell me WHY the policy was cancelled. Can you believe that??? They said they'll send me out a letter, even after I asked for the Manager, or someone who knew more. He said there was no one else he would direct me to, plain and simple. What kind of outfit is this? They were RUDE and INCONSIDERATE and MEAN! They wouldn’t give me a straight answer! I’m gonna fight for OUR rights and get a lawyer for all of this BS.

It’s NOT the money, it’s all about the Principle, and emotional distress for the two of us. How dare these idiots leave my little sweetheart locked out of her car without giving us any reason, or any heads up on this so called cancellation? If I knew our roadside assistance was cancelled, I would of never called them in the first place! Couldn’t they have sent an email? Or a simple phone call?? Or even a short text? They had all my contact info. Good God! UNBELIEVABLE!!!! I'll get my day in court. I’m suing! :(

I had AAA road towing Premium which included my trailer and all vehicles. While on I-80 outside of Wells NV the leaf springs broke on my trailer and I was dead in the water so to speak. Long story short AAA would not send a rig big enough for my trailer, 31 ft toy hauler, from outside the area because the tow for "my area" was not available. Their solution was to leave me stranded on the side of the Interstate for the night. Even though there was another AAA tow service just 40 miles away they refused to send it and left me there. I had to call them myself and hire them to come get me for the tune of $700. After weeks it of phone calls I finally got reimbursed for this. So don't think AAA is any better then GS.

I never received a conformation email, order number, or any other type of information regarding my order. I did receive the thermostat. But it ended up being the wrong one for my home. I contacted AAA to exchange it, but no one knows how to help me! There is no customer support for online orders! Nest won’t help me because I purchased it through a “third party seller”. Stream line distribution does not answer their phone, and I have yet to receive an email back from them. Now I am stuck with a $170 product ordered through AAA that I can not use and no one will help me with. Absolutely disappointed. I feel deceived and confused. Considering cancelling my membership for sure.

I moved to Utah from Colorado and contacted the Administrative Offices to advise of that change of location. I was never told by their representative that I was not switching from AAA to AAA by location and remained with AAA the company and would continue to rec services if I needed them! No, I discovered through billing that I don't have AAA/UTAH, but continue to be locked into AAA/COLORADO billing due to their CONTRACT system! So, even though I moved to another state, I am bound to this contract with that state in that office -- will not receive services in Utah - but have to pay them off - BEFORE - I can use AAA/UTAH -- and start my subscription here! Now, was this explained to me, up front? Nope!

I found out the hard way because I wanted to keep my AAA, but I had no idea that they are state to state, not ONE BIG HAPPY COMPANY - they lied and misrepresented their services and contract - just to get $$$ -- and forget the services in another state -- so, if you can avoid them - do so! And when I called to speak to them about it - they had no shame in lying, misrepresenting and fraudulently implying that my calling in and switching states would cause an issue - oh, no, it was money this - money that - contract this - contract that - buyer beware - this is your fault - for what? Trusting you to be honest? To portray your services accurately, which would allow me to have a choice or to know what was going on?

Oh, no, it was slanted like a $2.00 car salesmen and when I expressed my distress over this discovery they had absolutely no shame! None! They didn't even have the ability to admit they had misrepresented this program and nor did they want to listen to the call their representative had with me - and even switched me over to the Utah AAA - in the process - all the while leading me to believe I'd simply transitioned from one state to another -- using the same company - THEY ARE NOT THE SAME COMPANY!

They are a FRANCHISE, much like a hamburger drive through - without the integrity of a drive through - all they cared about was pointing out I owed them money no matter what because I'd been tricked into a contract -- without having the full knowledge - that if I moved - I wasn't moving with AAA - from state to state - I was moving to another state, but still had to pay for services I could not use - and they had no idea why that might bother me! So, unless you have no other choice, do not use these people, they are absolute liars & tricksters!

I have found that after 18 years of membership AAA has decided to start committing fraud and not standing behind their own membership plans. They refused to send traffic school papers to court causing points to be added to my record and now courts say it's too late to fix. They over doubled my insurance rates over this. I had medical problems and due to those, the hospital had my license suspended for 90 days until my condition was stable. According to AAA a suspension is a suspension, who cares why (even though DMV cares). Then 2 weeks ago I call for a tow because I was stuck in mud. I have a 4x4 with all the tow hooks needed for a rescue. The tow truck driver shows up and says AAA won't help and gave me his business card and said they would tow me for 255$ an hour. Thank God we have a community of offroaders that pulled together and saved me. AAA doesn't cover what they claim and commit insurance fraud.

On March 9, 2019 I got a flat tire heading from Raleigh NC to Durham NC. Called AAA, they sent out a contractor Holmes/Towmark Agency. After 40 minutes the guy arrived replaced my flat with my spare. I got back on the road feeling a vibration. On March 11, 2019 coming from Durham NC back to Raleigh NC the vibration got worse. Suddenly it felt like the tire went flat again. I pulled over and saw 5 lug nuts lying on the ground next to my rear left wheel. I saw that the lug nuts had come off and only 1 lug nut was holding the wheel on.

Pissed, I called AAA again and again they sent out a contractor - State Farm. The guy had a hard time getting the tire off and back on due to the lug nuts being bent and 1 of the lug nuts had a broken off lug nut inside of it. AAA guy Marcus pulled up looked at the damage said he was a supervisor and would be in touch. I had to pay for 6 new lug nuts, bolts and new tire. My mechanic had a hard time getting the bent lugs off to replace them. Not to mention the brake pad was damaged.

I contacted AAA to make my complaint. They asked me to send pictures in of the damage. (I did). I spoke to many people and they promised to get back in touch never did. I got a call from a guy named Clay who took the information and stated he'd be in touch the next day. I got an email from Sherette Edwards asking for pictures. I spoke to Meagan and Melanie. I was asked to contact Tamila Pernell. Making a complaint, I finally spoke with a lady named Noele and she stated the company that replaced my flat stated they were not at fault. I explained, I pay AAA not these other contractor's they send out, so AAA should be liable. AAA should be ashamed - I could have gotten into a very bad accident due to lose lug nuts coming off... Shame...

My car broke down in the middle of the road Friday, 3/22/19. I had it towed to a nearby repair shop where I was told that there was so much wrong with the car, my best bet would not to put any more money into it. They couldn’t even give me an exact diagnostic. Multiple sensors were broken to the point they were unable to pinpoint the exact problems for my car not being able to run.

Mind you, my first time signing up for membership, which was Friday, I had to pay for the membership PLUS additional fees for needing assistance the same day. Total of nearly $160. Now that I took the repair shop’s advice not to have this car fixed, I called AAA so that I could have it removed out of their lot and towed 3 miles away. AAA is trying to charge me an additional $80 for this service since my car is technically “fixable.” This was never explained. I would have NEVER signed up or paid for a membership with this company. It was such a RIPOFF. Please be smart when needing roadside assistance.

He is a minor with a learner's permit. Wanted us to pay $300 upfront to renew our plan plus $50 for adding him on today in an emergency situation.

My husband requested they call the tow truck and he would drive to meet them since he must be present. They would not send truck until my husband arrived on the scene (about a 30-minute drive), then he would need to call again and request service at that time. Seriously? We've been faithful customers of AAA for 10 years and have recommended them to our friends. AAA, this is not how you should do business. And because of it, you have lost ours.

Everything was ok but when we call to remove the car they just took away from all the cost for the whole yr like $47 dlls. It was ok... We didn't make a big deal. Well we got a new car. They charged us over $600 dlls to add this car. I was like wow WTF. You returned only $47 for the other car so now I have to pay almost $3000 for the insurance for one yr.

My husband at some point said oh well... Well he called today and they told him that they couldn't cover the new car because it was salvage so my husband cancel the insurance and they are just returning $400 dlls from what we paid but they took $168 dlls from my account on 3/19 and they said it's for this month but we don't have any coverage with them anymore. They are just stealing our money!!! STAY AWAY FROM THIS INSURANCE COMPANY. I DONT RECOMMEND.

At 0700 on January 1st 2019 I contacted AAA for two tows in able to make it to work that day. The first vehicle was a Scion TC that had a snapped timing belt (Service # **), the second vehicle was a Rav4 that simply would not start (Service # **). Shortly after the call I was notified by AAA the tows could not be provided by Highlands Auto Wreckers due to snow and to call back later. At noon that same day I called again once the roads had been plowed, AAA said they would dispatch their towing vehicles and ensured that I would receive text messages regarding updates. After a couple hours I had received no updates and the trucks still had not arrived so I called AAA again and was told the roads were still bad and the tow company (Highlands Auto Wreckers) would not be able to make it until later.

At 1600 later that day I called for a fourth time to see if the towing company would be available. I was notified the towing company (Highlands Auto Wreckers) was refusing to come to my location and that a complaint would be filed against them and that I would be contacted in a couple of days regarding the complaint. At this time I was also told to call again the following morning so AAA could schedule both tows with a company other than Highlands Auto Wreckers. The next morning on January 2nd, 2019 at 0700 I called and scheduled to have the vehicles towed with a very specific note for both service numbers on each vehicle. The noted specified not to contact Highland Auto Wreckers due to their continuous excuses.

However, two hours later I had to call back because no service was dispatched. At this time I spoke to a Supervisor, Stephanie **, who assured me the problem would be taken care of with no exception, that both tows would be of the highest priority, and not to worry because she would personally take care of the situation. An hour later I received a call from a AAA representative who stated Highlands Auto Wreckers would not be able to come to my location! I had to explain to them for the sixth time the situation and I was finally transferred to Stephanie ** again who explained to me I would need to find my own means of towing now 27 HOURS after my initial call to AAA and I would have to file for reimbursement.

After one phone call to another towing company I was able to ascertain their service and have both cars towed within a couple of hours. The reason why having the vehicles towed was such a high priority is because I am a Registered Respiratory Therapist at our local hospital. My main responsibility in this position is responding to all codes, intubations, traumas, and life-threatening situations in which case life support is utilized. Hence my need for reliable towing, which in this case was negligent by AAA. Stephanie ** ultimately denied my reimbursement claim because extrication was involved before the towing. I fully understand extrication is not covered in my policy, however I feel because I pay for towing services the towing portion of the reimbursement claim should be reimbursed. AAA still refuses to reimburse this.

Unfortunately, when flat-tire service was critical because my son was very ill and weakened; and, I am 70 years old: AAA was nowhere to be found. I broke down on I-94 & US 20 @ Michigan City, Indiana, which is a large city. Thankfully, it was a lighted area.

When I placed the call on a Friday at 9:30 p.m., the service was being sent from Hammond, Indiana, about 50 miles away. Really? There was no service on a Friday night from Michigan City or closer? No way I could have sat there for the initial 2-hour window, under the circumstances. Even after waiting, I never received a GPS tracking of any truck leaving Hammond. A good Samaritan stopped and helped us. Therefore, I canceled the service call. (A larger breaker bar was probably more of a help, since the lugs were very tight and the one that came with the car gave NO leverage. Hint!) Today, I received the upcoming May, 2019, renewal notice. When I contacted C.S. the lady was attentive, she then tried to transfer my call to the department that reviews your complaints. After, 14 minutes, I finally hung up because they never picked-up her call. CANCELLING uncompromisingly!

After near an hour they called me back and said that no tow trucks were available. All were on long tows and then suggested that I call the State Troopers to stay with me and were going to continue to try. I did that. VDOT truck stopped first and a very nice State Trooper stayed with me as we waited to hear back from AAA. Almost another hour went by... And decided to call AAA back. They then proceeded to tell me that no tow truck would be available to help me that night and the State Trooper could call a tow. And I would be reimbursed.

Keep in mind that I was only 18 miles away and I was easily accessible to tow services from Richmond to Williamsburg you would think. The tow truck came and out of my pocket it was 205.00 for a 18 mile tow. Submitted the paperwork to get reimbursement via email...which I was told would be quicker than mailing and now a month has passed and no reimbursement. Couldn't be more disappointed with AAA and it is clear that they have very few tow companies on contract and more are signed up with the State Police because of better fees.

Two years ago my truck was towed from my home to my mechanic a few miles away or so I thought. When I arrived to pick a few personal items from my truck at my mechanics what a shock to not find it in his lot. When I called AAA they said it was dropped off at the address that I provided that they read back to me. Yet no truck in sight? After two hours of going round and round with them as we drove around looking for it we saw a AAA tow truck with my truck on the back. It dropped it off at the wrong location? WOW JUST WOW! Today I called and was told a truck would be at my location within an hour. An hour and fifteen minutes had gone by I called again and was told fifteen minutes away.

When 30 minutes went by and I called again only to be told they had no record of my call? Was told they put my call on high priority and a truck would arrive within a 30 minutes. After waiting another 45 minutes the truck showed up? This was a total of three hours from the time of my first call on the side of a two lane state route that has very heavy traffic. To add to that I missed work waiting for the truck to arrive. Must say this is a very bad way to run a well known company that people are paying for emergency roadside service for, no rain no snow temps in the fifties what gives? Going to use my insurance companies towing from now on! And to think I just dumped more money into AAA for premium service to boot. Not at all happy with AAA at this point. Waiting for a call on what went wrong from a rep. Hope others have had better results!

Good afternoon, on February 23rd of 2019 I signed up for AAA to obtain their services. I did not have a clear understanding of the services provided so I called them to be explained and see if I could use their services since I was in need of them. Willing to save a little money but also aware that any services have a cost. When I called the lady on the phone told me they could not assist me with providing me the services since I had to wait a 7 days before using the services. Since I was not aware of this, I told them to please cancel the services since they were asking me to pay 9 dollars per mile and I was 50 miles away from home. I decided it was no saving, that I might as well call the towing services and paid $150. Whenever I was on the phone they transfer me over to a different department to help me with my refund.

I was told that I would be refunded in 3 business days and that my cancellation had been processed. Here we are on March 12 of 2019 and no refund has been given to me. Today when I called at 6pm I was transferred to Ashley a supervisor and was told that they couldn’t refund me because their monthly services cannot be refunded (even though I made no use of the services and I was advised I would be refunded on 2/23/2019). She advised me that they would coach the person that took my call. But they couldn’t help me with my request.

It is sad that companies like this take your money and lie about services to get you to sign up. Save yourselves the bad services and customer service this company provides and take your money to a company that will honor what they say. I was not given a refund and am sure since they are a big company they won’t care about reviews but I hope this can be of help to some people. Hopefully this time my cancellation has been processed and I won’t get charge another month for no services provided.

We have been a AAA member for over 7 years and have rarely used it but kept up our membership. Then when we really needed it, they let us down 3 times in the past 2 months! First, our truck wouldn't start in the cold weather & we were home & in a safe place & so they said it would be 48 hours before we could expect service. They didn't come but called 72 hours later to ask if we still needed service! Which we didn't by then. Then the next time a week later, our daughter's truck wouldn't start in a ramp in downtown Minneapolis while we were out of the country. It is much too lengthy to describe but needless to say that 4 days later they finally got her out of the ramp but not after hours & hours of phone calls from my husband while we were out of the country. And isn't this why we have AAA to protect our children when we are away!

The third strike occurred just this week when our vehicle wouldn't start in our driveway & we called AAA to have them tow it to our mechanic's place. We called them at 7:00 p.m. & they said they would be here by 11:00 p.m. They called at 10:30 p.m. & said they needed a different type of tow truck which was in the notes but they waited until then to figure this out. Then they called back at 10:45 p.m. & said they could get a tow truck from Duluth, MN (which is 150 miles away from the Twin Cities) to tow our vehicle 5 miles! Then didn't hear from them again until 8:30 a.m. the next morning when they said they could get a tow truck there in 4 hours!

At that point we said NO & contracted it ourselves & 1 hour later we had it at the repair shop using our own towing company. You bet we gave AAA the bill. Now let's see if they pay it! Their customer service is terrible & their service is unacceptable! Plus they apologized after the fact, what good is that! We would caution anyone thinking of becoming a member of AAA to read all these poor reviews! It is not worth being a member if they don't help you when you need it! For us, it is 3 strikes & AAA is out!

I then asked, "If I reinstate my membership would I get this use included on the membership so I wouldn’t have to pay the technician". The guy said yes and transferred me to the right person to take care of it. They gladly took my card info and charged seventy something. Moments later I received a payment email receipt. I then called back to see if there was a person coming to take care of my lock out situation - good thing I did because they found it had been CANCELED!!?

I didn’t even tell you what I had going on as well since I was with the company car and all. I’m a chauffeur just dropped off at John Wayne Airport, went to the restroom and found that I was locked out. My next pickup was 30 min away, and I had more than an hour from the first time I called. The second time I called, the service request went out another 25 min later and the clock started again, 30-40 min. When I finally got back on the road I knew I would be 15 minutes late. I’m NEVER late. In fact I’m always required to show up 20-15 minutes early. I should not have been late!!!

Forget my job details - When you call AAA roadside assistance and either forgot to pay the membership or want to reinstate, they’ll gladly take your money and leave you for dead, stranded wondering if someone’s coming to help you. Suffice to say I will be canceling and asking for a complete refund. If they don’t grant it I will go to my bank and ask for it. I want YOU all to know that I’m trying to help you, but you must fight! They take the risk that you won’t and most millennials will not. IF YOU FIGHT YOU WILL WIN!!!

You have rights. This is not how businesses should be making money. If your service leaves much more to be desired, companies deserve to lose customers and fail. I’m looking for other roadside assistance options. AAA has gotten so greedy and terrible with customer service. The last time I was in a situation like this: membership not current had two flats, they were on the ball, reinstated membership and service on the way 20-30 min ( they were quicker than that too!). My complaint is that there is a complete lack of customer service and ability (or desire) to make an attempt at being honest about the inability to provide service. I’ve been waiting 4 hours now for a call back (that was promised 2 hours from my first call). I feel that I’m told what I want to hear so agents can get off the phone as fast as possible, not that anyone has made an attempt to provide the services I’ve paid for.

This is now the 5th time in the last 6 months that AAA has told me they couldn’t provide service after wasting half of my day waiting for a phone call to move my pickup. It has not only cost me time waiting for them, but time away from work have been almost doubled waiting, then having to provide my own service. Not to mention $100’s in towing costs that should’ve been covered. When tow companies are slow, things are great. The problem is, when they are needed, AAA can’t provide the services they promise, and don’t try to make any attempt to provide them. Very frustrated. Would rather pay out of pocket and get an honest answer than pay to be lied to and blown off (even if it costs me extra).

After explaining the situation to her, the only response I received was $125 is maximum reimbursement per our guidelines (too bad that you didn’t read the fine loyal member!). My battery light came on when I was driving on Saturday and instead of stopping on 95 I tried to get to my destination. Thankfully I made it because I would have spent 4 hours on the side of the road with my four-year-old son. I put in a service request through the app for a battery issue (11:18 am). About an hour later (12:30pm), a representative came out and told me it wasn’t the battery it was my alternator. This meant since he only does batteries another request had to be put in for a tow truck. The tow truck appears around 1:40 pm, and tells me it is the battery not the alternator. He doesn’t carry batteries and that I would need to put in another request. I asked if it was something else like a fan belt, because I heard a screeching sound when I was driving before the light came on. He looks under the hood and says fan belt is there that is not the issue.

Since the alternator is not the issue, I was told I could drive the car no problem and the alternator would charge the battery. After 2 different people telling me two different things are wrong with the car I really didn’t trust either of them or the people you hire to represent AAA roadside assistance. I joined AAA on Saturday, I am allotted 4 service calls in one year and had to use three not for someone to fix my car but just to tow it to New Jersey. The second tow truck got there around 3:10. He was nice and got the car quickly on the flatbed and it arrived at its destination sometime after 4pm. I had to pay another $140 for him to tow it to NJ because you are basic for the first week through AAA. At that point I didn’t care, I was just happy the whole saga was over.

Yesterday I got my car fixed. It was not the battery or the alternator. A fan belt had snapped and there was an issue with my air conditioning compressor. The mechanic said I wouldn’t have made it out of the driveway without a fan belt, let alone to a place to buy a battery. A battery that would not have fixed the issue. This was by far the worst experience I have ever had, I should have bypassed signing up for AAA and just called a tow truck. I would have saved myself the grief, the time and the additional money it cost to get a membership + towing my car. I thought AAA was the way to go to get a responsible, reliable opinion, I would never do it again and plan on telling everyone I know to look elsewhere for road assistance service.

It was a nice day, good weather, no reason for a high call volume or anything that would put a strain on AAA roadside service. I called at 3:05 pm and was told a service truck would be there in an hour. Great that get the vehicle up and running without messing up my obligations to pick up my daughter and her friend to practice. Called at 5:15 pm to see where the truck was, after being transferred twice I was told it would be there shortly. At 7:49 pm it still has not shown up and I have had to call my mother-in-law to help get the girls. My wife is now leaving work early to get the girls from practice. If they are not able to do the one job I signed them up for, be honest enough to tell me instead of leading the customer on. This has been an absolute horrible experience.

AAA is horrible. I called for service and was told I was not on the membership. Last year I was told my son was not on our premier membership so I paid for his membership. We paid for 2 memberships last year and now I am being told that I do not have access to either one. They tried to get me to pay for a third membership. The rep proceeded to tell me that Sprint paid for our membership and at that point I was dropped. So they were paid 2xs for the membership which expires at the end of next month. The moral of this story is to use the roadside assistance that is provided by your car insurance whenever possible because AAA is worthless and needs to go out of business NOW!

He explained that he was on a busy 4 lane highway (highway 85 in Georgia), in a construction zone - and was unable to pull completely off the road - due to the construction. In addition it is pouring rain. He was told his wait would be 45 minutes. I told him to grab the umbrella from the trunk and wait away from the car, so if a speeding car, or semi truck hit our car - he would not be injured.

After standing in wet grass, with cold wet wind blowing on him for 47 minutes - he received a text stating it would be an additional 55 minutes. When no one arrived he called again and was told that due to high volume it would be another 20-30 minutes. As I type this complaint - it has been 3 hours and he is still waiting. AAA said they will send someone as soon as possible. That is not acceptable. Once he is safely home - I am calling to cancel and demand a refund. This company should be ashamed of itself. I know the Metro Atlanta area is busy - but tow trucks are a dime a dozen, and we are getting bumped down the list because we are not paying full price for the tow service. AAA needs to help their "members" not say "as soon as possible"... that's like sending thoughts and prayers... it doesnt help.

If I could give them just half a star or just a teaspoon of a star I would. Last year we canceled our roadside assistance with our insurance company because AAA seem to have been a better option, however to my surprise it has been a nightmare. On one of the coldest days our truck would not start and we were about 27 miles from home, AAA never sent a truck and said if they could they could only tow 10 miles as they were as they say instructed by the state of Illinois. I'm confused, is this a state agency? We had to find towing elsewhere. Not to mention the customer service. To be told they have 77 other callers on hold and they couldn't get to us was unnerving.

Today one of our trucks broke down, the back wheel came off, after being told we would have to wait 90 minutes but actually waited over 2 hours only to have the tow truck driver inform us that he could not help and that we needed to call AAA back to have them call a company that has the equipment to service us. Isn't this why AAA reps ask so many questions, to make sure they send the people? After calling back, the customer service rep said she couldn't find anyone and then we would have to wait for someone to call us back, and when she put us on hold it sounded like someone snoring in the background. The process of going through all the automated stuff when you call is also ridiculous. I'm disgusted with AAA.

This was the worst customer service experience. What makes it even worse, is this is a service that I pay for. I get AAA towing yearly the premier package and the last 3 times I have used it they all have been bad experiences. Today by far was the worse. I called for a tow at 6am, the message from AAA was there were extensive wait times so customers should use the app. I used the app as directed and put in the request was given an arrival time of 7:12am. At 7:20am I called to see if it was delayed and was told by the 1st rep (Peggy) that the company that took the order was having troubles because they only have 1 person working.

She went on to tell me his personal story that and he as up all night and needed rest so they had no idea when anyone else would come in to work. This sounded strange and unprofessional, so I asked to speak to supervisor. I was transferred to a man (Carrey) that said he was a supervisor and went on to tell me the same story. I asked, "Can any other tow company can be used to help..." He said yes and just sat quietly on the phone. I had to request he try another company while he kept telling me I could find my own and then just get reimbursed. I explained why would I do that if I pay AAA for the premier package every year to assist me ahead of time. He then told me the original request for roadside assistance that I put in at 6am actually never went through that it may have been a glitch. They didn’t know that it was sent out showing as taken but it really wasn’t. It was just sitting in “limbo”.

Again, the silence with no apology or solution, I had to keep asking what can be done, what will be done, how can I get help, etc? He kept telling me I could find my own tow company. I explained I don’t understand how their service works then? He then finally said he was going to look for another tow company, he left me on hold for a very long time. Came back. Said he called 6 companies and no one answered. Again the silence. I asked then to speak to his supervisor as he sounded like the 6 calls was the limit. He then told me he is not actually a supervisor after all as he first stated. When I spoke to the supervisor (Teresa) she was rude. She said there was a first company that took the job but really didn’t because it was actual just sitting there? Then she said they had already set up another tow company but couldn’t get through to them and they could not provide an expected arrival time. This was the first time I heard of a second company.

The supervisor also kept telling me I could just find my own tow. Then in a threatening way said the tow company (Grubes) could just cancel if they wanted to. This took over 1 hour (the call). 5 hours after the first call, the Tow company came and refused to drive in the alley. Their customer service was just as bad as AAA. As of this moment, my car is still stuck. I believe AAA towing sells false services, they then I believe sabotaged the actual work to be dozen with the tow company that was equally as unprofessional and rude. The worst experience and what makes it so bad is I pay for this service. I do not recommend AAA roadside towing to anyone and I am looking into other options for help. They false advertise and the customer service has declined horribly. AAA is NO help at all and as a customer I was treated like a bother to them.

I have been using their service for a while and been satisfied customer, however this time my experience was below than horrible. I renewed my membership last week and was charged 50$ fee to use the service same day (they changed their policy since before you was able to use a service without any grace periods and fees). I had a flat tire and I called to roadside assistance department, waited 20 min for operator, was promised to have someone in 1 hour but he was late for 15min. Nice guy but completely unprofessional. I have aftermarket wheels with a cap cover. He tried to take off a cap with screwdriver and thank God I noticed that in time to stop him, he scratched a cap a little bit but it barely noticed so no damage was done but what if I didn’t stopped him, rhetorical question. Then he said that he doesn’t have a driver to take off the wheel and that this wheel required a special key (no it doesn't!).

Anyway, he left without any help, instead I said to call for a towing service because I didn’t have a time to wait for someone else. He told me that he already scheduled a service and that AAA rep should call me in about 15 min to provide me with time estimates. After waiting for half an hour nobody called me back. So I had to call again, of course 20 min hold time. When I politely asked for towing, they said that another service provider will show up with correct set of drivers and they provided them with all details. So in 45 min another guy showed up and of course he didn’t get any instructions from AAA. The funniest thing that he didn’t have correct driver key (omg they doing that every day, with a different types of car and they doesn’t have 15.5mm driver key with a thinner socket, so dumb). Anyway, they kept telling me that I need a special key.

Anyway, I asked him to pump the tire as much as possible, it started to leak in about 5-7 minutes. I called my friend and he brought his pump and oh magic, it pumped the tire to 35 psi within 3 min. Later that day, I stopped by to AutoZone and bought a key 15.5mm and took a wheel off myself. I called to AAA resolution department demanding my money back. I asked for 50$ refund even though I was not willing to keep their membership at all, but I knew that it going to be a hassle to get a full amount, so I tried to get a fee back. Both representative were unhelpful and refused to give me a refund. One rep even called me a liar because she said I admitted that my car does require a special key, what a nonsense. Their supervisor refused to give me my money back based on “they did pumped your tire even though it didn’t help”.

I never faced with such a bad customer service in my life. They lost my business forever. Moreover another family members and close friends will stop using them after I told them what happened with me. So is it worth it for AAA to lose a business of several people because of 50$? No it’s not. So now I will schedule all towing services I can, so these people will pay much more than my membership cost lol. :) Anyway, I do not recommend this company to anyone, beware because they will rip you off!

They charged us wrongly immediately but refund over a month later at their discretion.

Unfortunately, I had to use their service for Jump-start and /or tow for diagnostics. They sent minivan instead. Then cancelled service call and I had start all over again for same service call while stranded. Tow truck arrived later and just jump-started battery and was trying leave, my car behaved erratically with engine signs and other service lights on so I asked to be towed, ** guy just refused. "You can call for service again," and left. This not only incur another service call that counts towards your limited calls per year. This is barbaric, abandoning & double dipping. Same ** guy named "Corey" (Fairfield CA) was racist, did not want to do his job and still be on payroll.

Called to discuss experience and manager in roadside assistance dept will not be helpful to mitigate this serious issue but take this information and handle it "internally" without sharing outcome details. Mind you, this shop is AAA owned in Fairfield and handling it internally will be covering things up. AAA flat out refused to refund entire membership very arrogantly "per policy regulation". I wish I would have seen their ratings /reviews which is filthy 1 solitary star by all AAA members who I empathize very closely on all reviews I read after the fact. I urge all members (new/ prospective/ existing alike) to be sensibly consider their decision to become a new member/ even continue their membership for rest of the duration left. I told her, "NO, why must I be inconvenienced, I am the customer." She said, "Well that is all we can do." I told her to get her manager. Each time the service tracker states about an hour wait time. Each time, the call FAR EXCEEDS one hour wait and I have to cancel and reschedule. Two scheduled events ago...the wait exceed 1 hour over the projected time, and when I called they said it could be an additional 1 to 3 hour wait!

It is 1:04 PM and it hasn't even been dispatched and there were roughly 14 calls in the queue when I made the service call earlier this morning. I was advised yesterday that I could contract with an independent tow service and AAA could reimburse me?

    1) Would love to have all kinds of spare money to pay someone else...but then why would I contract with AAA services??? And exactly WHEN would I get my money back??? 2) Where is the Customer Service??? Apparently the dispatcher wouldn't even respond to the CSR's inquiries as to the status of my service request. 3) What if I were stranded on the side of a highway? Each call, I had my young daughter waiting with me to have AAA pick up this car. If we were stranded in a remote area on the side of the road...how much confidence would I have now in AAA being the "family" that we don't have that I pay to come to our aide???

What on EARTH is happening to AAA? This is completely unacceptable. I am APPALLED and have never seen AAA behave this way. AAA CSRs are completely ambivalent and have a "too bad, nothing we can do about it" attitude. I was so looking forward to having AAA but ending up being a huge waste of my time and money. Like many people, I signed up when I needed a tow. (I doubt many people actually sign up without needing their assistance.) Turns out you pay a $50 service fee for using them so soon. I guess I can understand that but the customer service was so miserably poor that I tried to cancel my membership altogether. They refused!

I knew I needed a tow in the morning so I called the night before to see what the best plan of action was. I was instructed to call with an hour and a half before I needed a tow. So I woke up at 5:30am set up everything and waited by my phone. 15 minutes later I got a call saying they were there! Normally that would be wonderful but I was at home and they informed me I would have enough of a heads up so that they were not waiting for me. I told them I could be there in 15 and then frantically got on the road as quick as I could. I pull in 17 minutes after the phone call and the tow truck is leaving without my car! No heads up, nothing! I called AAA as quick as I could and they told me it would be an additional $50 and use of their service to have the truck, that was 3 minutes away, turn around. So a total of $100 on top of their annual fee and 2 of my 3 uses for the year.

I told them not to send it back and ended up just paying the tow company $100 out of pocket. I called AAA back and tried to just cancel the membership altogether. I was told that they would cancel it but they refused a refund. I wish one of the 5 representatives I talked with would have taken even just a minute to hear me or show the slighted bit of sympathy. I tried so hard to do everything the way they asked, and was treated like an inconvenience. This was a terrible experience. I am so disappointed and I wish I would have never signed up in the first place. What should have been a simple tow ended up costing me $200 and I wasted so much time trying to coordinate with them and work out a solution. I have NEVER in my life left a poor review, in fact I usually go out of my way to leave good reviews but I just can’t believe how difficult they were to work with. Such poor customer service!

Would give it 0 stars if that was an option but, unfortunately it's not. I got a flat tire on 1/24/19 on the highway and had to pull over in the breakdown lane. Immediately called AAA for help and was told they were sending a state trooper to make sure I was safe and in a good spot and a roadside assistance driver to put the spare on for me so I could at least make it to a shop. The state trooper pulled up not even 5 mins after the call and was really nice and kept checking in on me and the other cars around me who had also hit that same pothole I did.

An hour and a half goes by with no communication for AAA. I thought that maybe they were just busy and would be there any minute. I couldn't of been more wrong. The state trooper pulled up behind me once again and comes up to me and says “Triple A just called the barracks and told us they're no longer coming to help you. They're too busy.” Too busy? As a paying customer for roadside assistance, that's the last thing I want to be told. The state trooper was nice enough to call me a different towing truck for me while I called AAA.

I was told by AAA that they had “never recieved my call to the service center in the first place and a cancellation was not put in the system.” Absolutely ridiculous. I was then told by them that they would be happy to send someone to help but it would be another HOUR. Absolutely no way am I waiting another hour on a very busy part of the highway for AAA to finally get their ** together and come help. I don’t pay for this type of service and disrespect. Get it together AAA.

I had a flat tire on Monday 1/21/19 & called around 5pm to have tire changed. Rep took my information and gave me a number to call to check on progress of call. He also said I would received a text. I call about 10 minutes later and rep on phone said a tech was assigned and would be by 6:06. I called back at 6:15 and was told that they had no tech to take the call. They were handling people stranded on the road first, which is understandable, and they would have to call me back. I never received a text, and I wonder where the ETA came from if they had no one assigned to the call. I would not have been updated if I hadn't called. I waited an hour just to find out no one was on the way to help. By the time I found that out it was too late to call anyone else to changed my tire. A friend and a friend of his ended up coming out changing my tire. Had I know I would have to wait indefinitely I would have called someone else, but by the time I found out it was too late.

Called AAA on Monday Jan. 21 around 215 pm to request assistance with a dead battery. Lady said help will arrive within a couple hours. I say ok. Person from roadside assistance place calls ten minutes later and says it's gonna be more like 2.5-3 hours and they will come help jump my car. I asked if they had any tools to help test my battery and she said no. Asked if they had any batteries for purchase that they could put in for me and she said no. Ok then what good are you?? I cancelled the request, waited for my husband to get home, jumped the car myself, drove to the nearest auto parts place and had the worker dude replace my battery. Was back home within 30 minutes, no thanks to AAA.

I truly dont know what good it is having them because they are completely useless. Do not care about their customers. Luckily that particular day, I was stuck at home (car died in driveway) so I was thankful I didnt have to wait for hours along the roadside in the 15 degree weather. I can't believe a company specializing in roadside assistance would be so useless, especially to people that are potentially waiting in the cold. Like I said, luckily I wasnt. But what if I was?? AAA, how do you sleep at night knowing you're making people wait in the frigid temps?? I will not be referring AAA to anyone, in fact when our membership expires, I will be dropping them. I refuse to put my hard earned money into something that is not going to be useful in my life. See ya, AAA!

So when you actually need Triple A service you will spend over an hour on hold in freezing temps while they don’t answer. When your tow doesn’t ever show up three hours later as they said, and you call back, plan to be on hold over another hour before they answer AGAIN. When you ask what happened to your road assistance now they will tell you ‘there is no ETA, might be tomorrow, can’t say when”, and when you ask to speak to the manager on duty, they will hang up on you, forcing you to call back and be hold ANOTHER hour. Really. In the frigid zero degree weather, I kid you not.

Every time you wait on hold for an hour there will be a recording playing stating how much they want you to have a great experience. Good grief. We pay 300 dollars a year for our family for THIS? Our daughter needs service now, not some other unknown day and time. Will not renew this truly terrible service. If they can’t provide service when they KNOW full well people are going to be needing it (in the freezing cold) what is the point of them?

We Have been members since 1993. My husband was having car problems on his way home from work. SINCE he was in heavy traffic he decided to go ahead and drive home then call AAA. When he called they would not tow the car as it was driveable. We did not feel that it was safe to drive as the check engine light was on, the car was shaking and had a burning smell. This was very disappointing and frustrating as we have been members for years and do not need to use the service often. It is very clear that they do not care about their customers.

I tried talking to a supervisor and no one would help. Also asked for Corporate phone number and was advised that the call would come back to their Barks County location which it did. Found another phone number for AAA complaints which only takes you back to the Barks County Office. For years AAA was a household name. NOW they are a company that does not care about customer satisfaction. If they don't change their ways they will be left by the side of the road.

I’ve literally been waiting in frigid temperatures on a tow for 5 hours! I’ve called numerous times and was told I was a priority call. I’ve been given 6 different arrivals times and still no tow truck. I will definitely not refer anyone or renew.

AAA Premier RV customer many years. Husband died in home town at a restaurant, AAA would not tow because car was operable!!! Roadside service and customer service in constant decline in past years. After purchasing AAA auto coverage for my husband and my personal autos, they refused homeowner's coverage for questionable reasons. Dropping them, NEVER to return.

My daughter ran off the road into a ditch on a heavily traveled highway. We contacted AAA and we're told that someone would be to our location by 12:45 pm to get the car out of the ditch. 12:45 p.m. came and went. So we called AAA again to inquire as to the estimated time of arrival of the tow truck. We were then told it would be 2:50 p.m. I asked why we were told 12:45 p.m. The customer service rep told us it was just the computer time, and that they had to depend on the tow truck. This is not the first time we have been given a specific ETA only to have it pushed back several hours. We pay for the Gold service and get nothing. I ended up calling a local tow service and will send the bill to AAA. Don't waste your money.

I've been a member for 25 years and I'm allowed four tows one Hundred miles per tow. They sent me a service detail log that states I've used 1 tow in 2015, 3 tows 2016, 4 tows 2017 and 3 tows 2018. Total of 11 tows in 4 years and they are canceling me because I have made excessive service demands but I'm allowed four tows and I've never made more than four. If they would have told me that I'm allowed 4 tows but if I use them I will be canceled I wouldn't be paying the extra money.

I am a plus member which cost extra money and gives me two extra tows but obviously it just cost me extra money and I don't get the extra tows. Oh and let me add that I have six vehicles and a house insured through AAA but they don't want to cancel my insurance policy just my roadside. And you think that they should know that if I got six vehicles that I'm going to have tows and every single tow on the log report is a different vehicle. And another thing I don't understand is when I have AAA auto insurance in order to have the auto insurance I have to have the roadside assistance. That's not an option.
