Horrible! People become members because they count on dependable service for help when they are stranded or broke down. Out of the last 3 calls one was never fulfilled, end up canceling after waiting over 5 hours for assistance and the other one also took over 5 hours and he showed up just as I was canceling the service. I pay for a service and you quickly take my money yet don't actually provide a service ...and when I/ we call to say something we just get a sorry! Unacceptable. I travel for a living and count on dependability and for a company to actually provide the service I pay for. I will not be renewing my membership in the future.

On November 17, 2021, the AAA tow truck driver showed up within 10 minutes and stated he would not tow my 2003 VW Eurovan because it had a roof rack. He stated AAA was afraid it might blow off in the wind while the tow was under way. I called another tow truck company, Custom Towing, which was not associated with AAA. The driver from Custom Towing also showed up within 10 minutes and towed my van from Fallon, NV to Reno, NV for $382 with no questions asked and no problems.

I have been a member AAA Oregon and Idaho American Automobile Club for approximately ten years. This critical review details my actual experiences. A road assistance membership can provide peace of mind if the tow truck operator actually shows up. I am a senior citizen in my seventies so help with a flat tire and towing is critically important to me. While living in Gresham Oregon I needed a tow. I called AAA and got a prompt call back from the tow truck driver. The driver stated he was less than five minutes away, knows my apartment complex and would be there directly. The tow truck driver never showed up. AAA Oregon Idaho is completely unreliable. AAA Oregon Idaho paid the no show tow truck operator.
While living in Portland Oregon I got a flat on the highway. I immediately pulled off the highway, pulled into a Shell gas station where the proprietor gave me permission to wait. I made the call to AAA which advised me they would dispatch a tow truck. I waited, waited and waited but the tow truck never showed up. I decided to change the flat myself then went directly to Costco for the tire repair. AAA Oregon Idaho is completely unreliable. AAA Oregon Idaho paid the no show tow truck operator.
During 2021 I visited the Bend Oregon AAA office to handle my upcoming premier membership renewal. The staff was condescending and disrespectful advising me that my membership was still good for three months. I responded that I prefer to renew now and paid the fees in cash. I found the staff dismissive, condescending and unwilling to actually listen to me preferring to push me around. The new membership card never made it to my address. AAA Oregon and Idaho is completely unreliable. I called an estimated half a dozen times but was unable to get past AAA’s clogged telephone system. I had to endure an eternity of marketing propaganda while I waited. I was never able to successfully speak on the telephone with customer service about the lost card. AAA Oregon and Idaho is completely unreliable.
I visited the AAA office in Meridian Idaho. The counter person basically ignored my request for help and spoke to me in a disrespectful and abrasive tone. I decided to speak to a supervisor. The supervisor assured me that this would be taken care of. A week later he admitted he did not order me a new card. AAA Oregon and Idaho is completely unreliable. Once is an accident, the second time a coincidence and the third time the behavior is clearly intentional. By the way AAA Idaho has cancelled my membership because their staff found me abusive. I grew up in the Midwest where we speak in a polite, respectful and truthful manner.
It is no secret that Oregon is expecting a major earthquake on the Cascadia Subduction Zone estimated in the range of magnitude 9.5 or greater. This may trigger numerous other earthquakes and possibly volcanic activity including the Yellowstone Volcano. The truth is Motorists need a roadside assistance company that has the reputation and dedication to provide critical services in a time of need. Can a roadside assistance company that fails to show up to change a flat for a senior citizen be relied upon? During any natural disaster whether it is a tsunami, earthquake or volcanic eruption reliability is everything. When the going gets tough the AAA tow truck drivers will probably be half way to New York when you need them.

Heading to NYC from home (Washington DC), at about 11:30 this morning we had a tire blow out on Rt 95 north of Baltimore. We immediately called AAA and were told assistance would arrive at about 13:10. (We have been AAA members for close to half a century except for periods serving overseas. I am 78 years old with a number of ruptured discs. At the moment I have a pinched nerve in my back. I hold the Vietnam Service medal with two stars.) After at least two dozen calls attempting to get updates, no assistance had arrived by 16:30 and no indication when it would arrive. A good Samaritan stopped and helped change the tire. We never subsequently received any update from AAA. We then had to drive to an Audi dealer to have a new tire installed since the donut spare is good for only 50 km.
The event we were to attend in NY ran from 17:00 to 21:30. At this point there was no way we could arrive within that timeframe. We also lost our Marriott hotel non refundable payment in full. Altogether an incredibly bad show by AAA. I have left out a number of examples of their bungling performance. Audi told us they hear the same complaints about AAA all the time.

I called AAA Friday 11/05/21 around 6pm for service; rep took information; call disconnected. I called AAA back on 11/06/21 at 1023 rep took information and did not dispatch call; which I didn’t know until I called back 2 hours later to check ETA. Unfortunately I didn’t get rep name; system or recording should have that information. I asked for management and was sent to Ryan in customer relations by Philetia. Ryan asked if vehicle was on grass; Ryan wouldn’t allow me to explain that the vehicle had to be pushed out of home owner way partly off drive way. Ryan proceeded to inform me that AAA doesn’t pay for vehicles in grass and rudely stated he cancelled request and that he was not going to argue with me.
My husband and I called back. Lanie entered the wrong address on purpose even after spelling Bend part of the address where vehicle was located; it caused another delay. We called to update address and was informed we had to wait for dispatcher to request another service provider and currently no service providers were available. I called back after a hour wait. Jeff stated no service providers available and didn’t know how long wait would be; at this time we’ve waited over 4 hours. Jeff was asked what I needed to do; Jeff stated I could get my own provider and submit for reimbursement.
I called Southern Towing one of the Providers dispatched earlier; per Michelle she had 2 drivers available. I called AAA back and informed Shana about Southern Tow; Shana stated Southern Tow (station # 5323) was not a company in the area; company they dispatched earlier. Integrity REALLY matters in customer service. Michelle had to call in and get the service request started. My family has been A PAYING LOYAL CUSTOMER since 1989 not to mention going years and I mean years not even having to use this service and this is how we are treated; we’re Thankful it wasn’t our 86 and 82 year old parents trying to get assistance. Please pull recordings. Customer Service Training Highly Vital. I know nothing Will Be Done. I will reach out to Corporate.

50-year member. 5 days ago, my alternator went out 70 miles from home. I contacted AAA for a tow and garage recommendation. I had the car towed to the recommended shop, had the repair completed the next day and returned home. Last night, the alternator light came back on and I called AAA to find out what to do since the repair fell under their "guarantee". The only solution was for me to pay for a tow back to the garage ($500), and let them attempt to diagnose the problem. If you are looking to purchase a membership, please be aware that this is the extent of the supposed guarantee selling point that AAA uses, and I'll be letting my membership lapse at next renewal.

I have been a loyal AAA member for many years. However, their "service" is now nothing short of horrendous. Called for a jump start (dead battery) and was told 4 hours, which is insane to begin with. Four (4) hours later I get another call stating that it would be another 2-4 hours before someone could come out and jump start my car. Then he asked me to call tomorrow instead...Seems to me that AAA wants their membership fees but doesn't want the service they are supposed to provide...Take some incredible advice and research ANYTHING other than AAA to meet your service needs...I plan to reach out to GEICO and subscribe to their roadside service plan...If it was possible, AAA would not even garner 1-Star from me...

I am a long-time customer of AAA and have always had consistently excellent service from AAA roadside assistance, but had to write a review now bc in the past month, my family has utilized roadside assistance at least 5 times! We have had someone locked out of their car at night with no access to spare key, a flat tire, a bad alternator, a dead battery, and then a really bad leaking battery that smelled like rotten eggs!!! In the last event, I want to compliment AAA's roadside responder, Nick, who had to get an odd battery delivered from the office and install it on a dark, wet and cold evening. This service is a must-have for everyone, but truly, if you have teen drivers, it will provide peace of mind!!!

Do NOT ever buy a car battery from AAA. They will NOT honor their warranty even when all evidence shows that the battery is bad. Our history: In Fall of 2019 we had a bad car battery. AAA came out and replaced it for us and said that we had a 3 year warranty for peace of mind. August of 2021: The same car's battery dies. The first mechanic who came out was too busy to do anything other than give us a jump. We were told to call again the next day and have AAA come out again in order to see what was wrong. The next day's mechanic says that he thinks it is the alternator and despite his readout showing that the battery is NOT maintaining a charge, refuses to replace the battery. (The car is 5 years old and has 20,000 miles on it.)
We bring it to the dealership and have them run a diagnostic. To no one's surprise, it's the battery. We call AAA again and ask if they can meet us at the dealership to replace the battery. No problem we are told. Be right there, we are informed. 3 hours later and no one is there. The dealership is closing soon. We call AAA to check where the mechanic is at. Oh, he's another 2-3 hours away. We are told we can just apply for a refund so that we can get our car situation settled. We apply for the refund and are told that they do not trust the dealership and therefore will not refund us the money.
AAA is not worth using unless you just need a jump on the side of a road. Never buy anything from them and never trust their warranties. After doing some Google searching we have discovered that a lot of these car batteries sit around inside the trucks for months at a time and frequently fail. We will not be using them in the future and hope we can prevent others from being subjected to their lying shell game as well.

Dear AAA, Thank you for 16 years of loyal membership (on my part); thank you for being (kind of) there when I needed you; thank you for providing peace of mind while I drove the roads of America ... and (with my tongue placed firmly in my cheek) thank you most of all for, out of nowhere, CANCELING MY COVERAGE USING A VAGUE PARAGRAPH ON "PAGE 41" OF YOUR HANDBOOK.
It's comforting to know that you "had my back" as long as my usage of my 16 year old service use was not "excessive." This notwithstanding that there were many years where I paid my annual family premium and made no use of any services at all! Thank you for being a stand-up company! (My tongue is still firmly planted in my cheek.) I sincerely hope that this review makes more people check with their auto insurance company for roadside assistance coverage rather than AAA! P.S. - My daughter was awarded a free year of coverage because she was kept waiting for more than 4 hours for a tow. AAA canceled that as well!

This was in Peoria, AZ... which is a large suburb of Phoenix. I cancelled my AAA policy and requested a refund before I ever got a tow. I had to find a tow truck on my own. Worst service ever. She is asking me to try to get a towing company and they will reimburse me or to leave the car, which I told her that it would get towed by police, and she will send for it the next day. LET US DOWN! My son was stranded on 290 at 8:00 pm… My son was stranded on 290 at 8:00 pm last night with cars and trucks passing at 100 miles an hour. He called AAA and they said 1.5 hour wait. He told them to send a flat bed because he had all wheel drive. When the truck showed up 2 hours later they sent the wrong truck. They then said it would be another 1.5 hours.
Our plan would only cover 5 miles so I upgraded to premium and they charged my account immediately but told my son it wouldn't take effect for 3 days and quoted him 3.00 a mile. When the truck dropped him off the driver wanted cash (who carries $175.00 cash around) and then charged $6.00 per mile!! Got home to Elgin at 11:45!! Triple AAA is a joke. We've been paying in all these years and never used it. We have 5 members on it. What a racket! For that service last night they should have given him a huge discount for inconveniences. Again, next day, I called AAA to have my car towed from my home to a mechanic shop and it took a little over 2 hours again. But this time, I don't really mind, because I'm at the comfort of my home. One of those ** days with a flat, but that's why you pay that membership fee to AAA year after year. Right? #9yearsstrong. Stuck in City of Commerce with nothing but trucks driving by. Cold and tired. It's about 2AM. Requested tow and ETA was 40 minutes. Then after 40mins, I got TBD. No tow. No update. I called AAA and rep put me on hold to get an update. Hold time was just amazing. I just left the car with a note and Ubered home. But held on the line to see what AAA would say. I just hung up when I got home. AAA never got back to me. After 1 hour and 17 minutes of being on hold... I took screen shots of this ridiculousness.
Filed a complaint and asked for a callback. No one responded. They said sorry and they will have a team reach out in 48 hours to offer membership discounts. No callback. I called back again to follow up and the rep told me they never offer any discounts and there's no team for membership retention. Also no notes on my account for any of this. Bye bye #AAA. No more wasting membership fees when I can't count on your service. Hope not everyone goes through what I went through to realize this waste of time and money. (Side note. Most car insurance offers roadside assistance. It's cheaper since they don't have multiple offices and massive overhead like AAA).

AAA CUSTOMER ABUSE. My son and I had a brake system warning on the way back from Charlotte to Greensboro. It was about 8pm and getting dark. I have been a Plus member of AAA for over 20 years and have rarely needed the service. I called AAA and was told it would be a 60 – 90 minute wait. They also said due to Covid the tow company would only take one passenger. I told them I would not leave my child on the side of the road or have him go off with some stranger. They told me that I should call Uber or a family member. We had no relatives in North Carolina. They would not help us. Through God’s good grace we slowly drove the car on the shoulder until we reached the nearest exit and stopped in a Home Depot parking lot off Wendover Avenue in Greensboro.
I again called AAA and they told me they would get someone to tow me. It could be a 60 - 90 minute wait. We called a Uber and my son went home. I stayed with the car. About an hour later a tow company ‘Adam’s towing’ pulled up. He loaded my car onto the flatbed. He then entered the tow truck without saying anything to me. I got into the cabin and he drove off. I was wearing a mask when he arrived and still had it on. I asked him if he was going to wear a mask. He said he did not wear masks as he had allergies. I told him I had allergies and asthma and I had my mask on. I asked him if he was vaccinated and he said no. I told him I lived with a 85 year old mother but there was no relenting. He said he was not going to let anyone poke holes in him. At this point it was dark and I was stuck with him. I endured the 20 minutes drive to my mechanic shop destination. By this time it was 10pm.
I was very upset with AAA and called them to speak to customer services. I was on hold for 15 minutes listening to their recorded message of only picking up one person due to covid. I was then told someone would call me back within 24 hours from the North Carolina AAA control center. When I got the call from AAA service center the next day the supervisor refused to tell me their name. That alone was ridiculous as the call was said to be recorded. I asked why an organization with over 60 million members did not have the decency to protect their customers and only see fit to do that for their employees or contractors. I was told that they are not able to control what independent contractors do! Surely they have the funds we 60 million members pay to contract with businesses that will have better standards when we are in a pandemic?
Does AAA have a policy for with assistance for members stranded on the highway with young children. What if I had an infant? AAA is fine with leaving a mother and her child on the highway because they are protecting themselves. They are totally flippant on telling a mother at 8pm to get a Uber at night time on the highway. Now they also say it is not their problem if you get exposed to covid. Membership # **.

I am a AAA member since 1982 and this last request for a tow was heart wrenching to say the least. After 3 calls to the 800 number with hold times from 10 to 30 minutes finally got a dispatch with 2 hour wait time. After two hours and a no show tow truck I took care of the problem myself. Another hour passed and a truck showed up in front of the house only to be sent away as there was no need for it at this point. Used to be a good company but no more.

I called, waited through endless holds and automated questions to get help. I gave all information to the AAA rep and was told help was on the way. After 45 minutes, I called again (to sit through long waits of automated questions & subsequent holds) only to find out there was no record of any tow driver being dispatched! I was told that I was a priority and a tow truck would be to me in 30 minutes.
After 30 minutes, I again called (again with lengthy automated questions, and excessive holds to check my status) only to find again, no one had been dispatched to get me. Keep in mind, it was a heat scorcher of a day which had turned my car into a SAUNA. If I had jumped into a swimming pool, my clothes would not had been more wet. Finally on my 3rd attempt after 2-3 hours, I finally had a tow truck dispatched to me. HOW WOULD YOU RATE THIS "SERVICE"??!! Polite adjectives are not possible. TOTAL NEGLIGENCE & INCOMPETENCE would be inadequate starting point.

If you only need a battery boost this is the service for you. Reliable and pretty fast response. But if you need what they call battery replacement on site and a boost will not help you, this is a terrible service. First they start working at 7:00am and end at 9:00pm. Second there is a monopoly of service providers. There is only one company within a certain radius who is allowed to respond. The call does not go out to available persons, it goes out to the one company who has the contract for the area you live in. The radius of the monopoly is not known. It could be quite large as this person came from 20 miles away. I sent in a request for battery help and then called the AAA number 1 800 222 4357 and told them to add that if the service does not have a 25 battery for the Subaru not to come. I need a battery, not a boost. They said they would do that.
The truck came with batteries none of which are for the Subaru and the driver said he was unaware of the additional request. It was never communicated. The AAA person I spoke to told me she would leave the message with a dispatcher for the driver that I need a battery and not to come out to give me a boost. I waited on hold for 30 minutes to tell the lady at AAA that I needed a battery not a boost. This was not my first time calling. I had called at 8:00 in the morning for help and got a boost. The first guy came with his battery truck. It says on the truck it does battery replacement and did not have the battery. The second time I called was 6pm on the same day and another truck came with batteries and none of them were good for my car. And the driver did not know that he should not come if he did not have a battery for my make and model.
So do not trust AAA to replace your battery on site. They will give you a boost. No battery. Big trucks carrying replacement batteries and they can't put a battery in. Two in one day. That's incompetence. The claim they make to replace batteries is fraud and the lack of communication between the person who answers the phone at AAA and her responsibility to ensure a message is communicated to a dispatcher proves they are incompetent. Also keeping people on hold for thirty minutes is a sign they just don't care about you. The claim to help you by replacing a battery on site is one of the reasons you sign up, but they can't do it. This is to entice you buy a service they don't provide. That's fraud.
The lack of multiple bidders on a job indicates this is not a competitive service. Someone could have come out here with a battery and gotten paid for the work. Instead no one did and I paid for a service AAA advertises and does not provide. And they won't let anyone compete to provide the service. There are hungry people out there who would have liked to get paid to do this job. But it was prevented by this monopolistic service I pay for.

Towed in thinking as a member I would be taken care of, when my daughter's car got towed in. They first of all don't tell you that they are not part of the not for profit AAA club and instead charge you $140 a hour almost double other garages. Then talked my daughter into having work she did not need. They replaced a sensor, charged for that then charged another $100 to clean the two wires going to the sensor. Total Rip off. Take my advice. Tow your car somewhere else. AAA should be ashamed of themselves. Read the reviews on Yelp.

This was a very horrible experience!!!! I called at 6:00 pm for assistance. I was told that Buffalo Towing would be there 8:00 pm to assist me. So I called back at 8:00 pm and someone from AAA that the tow truck was a few minutes away and that they would monitor my call. Minutes passed by and I called back at 8:30 pm and I sat on hold until 10:00 pm. When someone did come to the I explained my situation and then they put me back on hold for an additional 20 minutes. To which they had transferred my call to someone else. Then that person tells me that the towing company had canceled my service call. So no one ever thought to give me a courtesy call to let me know that.
So I had to find another way to get serviced. Then at 3:44 on Sunday morning I received a message from AAA on my voicemail asking if I still needed service. This is VERY poor customer service without any consideration for the customer (meaning me) when I was stranded out of town. What is the point of me having a AAA membership if I cannot get any help when I need it the most? At this point I want to cancel my membership since there is no point to have it because it was useless to me in my time of need.

I needed a tow. AAA made me wait for the local vendor, when AAA towing was available in area car was getting towed to. I had to pay for the tolls in cash. They damaged the car by driving it instead of wenching it. We have video from our block as proof. AAA had me tow it to a mechanic for an assessment (which seems unnecessary now, since he didn't use a lift). They later asked for the video, and weeks later they denied the claim. They would not show the assessment without a subpeona, and told me to mediate with the vendor. They use contracts for a lot of their work, and probably go with the cheapest ones, then refuse to take responsibility.

I waited 2 hours before calling back and a different person told me that "my call was still out for bid" and that she was sure someone would come at 10 AM. Frustrated, I called tow shop on my own and they were there in 10 minutes. I bought tires from AAA October 2020 after I had a nail in one. The tires have a one year warranty I was told. August 13th 2021 I get another nail in my back tire while visiting Hackensack, NJ. Since the tires are under warranty, I call AAA. They inform me that they cannot send anyone to me because my membership isn’t active even though I have the papers in the car stating that these are AAA’s tires. Then the guy rudely hangs up on me after I’m telling him this doesn’t make sense. I call again and another person answers and she also states that I would have to have an active membership even though the tires are under AAA’s warranty. I’m livid because I’m stranded in Hackensack in 95 degree weather during a heat wave and no one is helping me. So I just activate a membership. Mind you, about an hour and a half has passed now. The lady informed me that she is going to dispatch a vehicle to me and hangs up after collecting my $208.
Fast forward to 2.5 hours later, no call, no text. So I call back to get an ETA and another woman answers to tell me that there was never a dispatch call for me. She was the most pleasant out of everyone I talked to and was able to get the driver to me fast. Today is Saturday August 14th and I make it to AAA Edison, NJ with my spare tire. Tony informs me that none of the suppliers have it in stock and the best he could do is August 26th. I am Military and I travel, I cannot wait until the 26th of August for a maybe. I find the tire online with 2-day shipping and call Tony to inform him. He then tells me that there’s nothing he can do as far as reimbursement for the tire. Why am I paying for a membership and warranties if nothing works and I still have to buy my own tire and pay to have it installed?! I am very displeased at this entire process.

He accused me of going to a used battery shop and buying the battery there. I responded look under the hood of my other two vehicles they are AAA as well. I contacted AAA and requested a different tow company to file a complaint. I waited all day yesterday. I spoke to 4 different representatives yesterday assuring that it would get resolved. I spoke to Andrew first to file my complaint. Then a gentleman called me back I think his name was Collin to say that another technician was being dispatched. When he said Angelo’s was coming out, I told him Andrew said they would get another provider?
He said dispatch would call me and never did. Called again. Spoke to a female on the East coast. Forgot her name. Was told they were dispatching it again and come 5pm still no phone call. I called again and spoke to another representative Michael that set me up with a appointment for this morning so that we could avoid all issues. And even with an appointment that still did not happen. I was called by dispatch this morning and spoke with Diana to tell me that they were working on it. I call back again and request to speak to the supervisor in dispatch and talk to Terry. I was told they are looking for another tow truck and would call me back when one is available. I waited about another hour and still nothing so I called back and was told so far they have not been able to find someone to tow me and they could not give me anytime frame either. But I could call a local tow company and pay to have it towed home and get a receipt of what I paid and then file a claim with AAA and hope I get reimbursed. We wait a bit longer, and decide to try Geico roadside. Geico got there in 20 minutes, twenty. And we never got an update from Triple A until WE called them at 1:20 and they still didn’t know. Do not ever buy a AAA battery because they are junk, and AAA's warranty sucks. I bought a battery from AAA in Feb 2017. It went bad in June 2018. AAA has a six year warranty, three year full replacement, three year pro-rated. They replaced the battery in June 2018, but the six year warranty on the new battery runs from Feb 2017, not from June 2018. The June 2018 battery has now died, but AAA says the warranty is at four and a half years because the first battery (not the current one) is from Feb 2017. If I were to buy another battery from AAA at this point, it would have one and a half year warranty because the first battery I bought is from Feb 2017. I do not see how this is legal to run the warranty from a battery I no longer own.
Also, when I call AAA for the amount of towing miles I have for my RV, I get a different answer from every person who answers the phone. One says 200 miles, one says 100 miles, I have no idea who to believe. If you have another company to use, you are better off with them because AAA is not all that for the price they charge. It is too bad that they do not have many competitors to choose from. GOOD LUCK!!!

When I needed them… AAA (Triple A) Failed Me... Preface: I have been subscribed to AAA for over a year and have placed approximately 5 calls (4 me/1 wife) for service and up to now have had no complaints. Such was the case, that I became an avid endorser of AAA to my family, friends and co-workers. After my latest experience, I can NO longer endorse AAA as a top-notch customer-focused, nor customer-friendly service.
Noticing that I had a flat tire on one of my vehicles, I thought it would be easier to use the AAA service as it had been raining the entire week and the quality of service I received in the past had been exceptional. I placed the call and was told that it would be 1 ½ hours before someone would be dispatched to provide the service. After about 2 hours and no service had arrived, I called AAA again! The representative informed me that the shop that had been assigned my service call had rejected the service call due to being backlogged. I asked the representative why I hadn’t been called and given that information. She apologized and said that she would be sending out the work request again and someone should be contacting me in a matter of minutes.
Thirty minutes later, after no contact from AAA, I called again. The representative that I spoke to this time didn’t understand that her interaction with me was a reflection of the professional of her company and presented me with a very condescending and unapologetic attitude!!! Her primary response in resolving my issue was to ask me if I wanted to speak to a supervisor as I assumed that she didn’t want to get involved with the ineptitude of my AAA saga. She transferred me to a supervisor, who I explained that I was already over 2 hours and 45 minutes in trying to get a simple tire changed. She apologized and said as a supervisor that she would contact another shop, herself, and help to rectify the situation.
After not hearing from her in a 30-minute time period (I am now over 3 hours in this process and I have rain clouds that are darkening), I decided to change the tire myself. Twenty minutes, to the sec, of having the tire changed myself, she calls saying that “SOMEONE WILL BE COMING TO CHANGE THE TIRE IN 45 MINUTES.”
I gently explained to her the failures of AAA in this situation and that I can no longer, in good faith, recommend their services to ANYONE!!! Additionally, I cancelled my AAA PLATINUM membership that I had just renewed and now I am in search of another roadside assistance program that I feel can better respond to me in a crisis. I have considered how this would have been disastrous and highly detrimental for me if I had run out of gas, needed a tow and yes, even needed a tire change while hundreds of miles from home!!! I will share my story everywhere I go, because when I needed them, AAA failed me!

Our calls to Triple A phone service confirm correct address on file and answering service keeps saying they don't understand why driver would have the wrong address. This has been a nightmare!

I went to purchase limited liability only insurance and I got four quotes from AAA and they were all different three locations overcharged me and gave me an insurance policy I didn't ask for. There was only one honest location. I requested limited liability only. They would not refund my money and then to retaliated and canceled my roadside service. And they did it in a dirty dirty way. They did it without even letting me know. I accidentally found out that they canceled my insurance on my roadside service and they overcharged me the year before I asked for a limited liability only and they gave me more coverage. It's a big scam with AAA. You could go to different locations and get different prices when you're asking for the same thing which is limited liability only. I called the corporate office and that was a nightmare. They refused to even return my phone call. I highly recommend you go to a different insurance company that's honest.

Just recently I signed back up for AAA Towing. I had canceled it during the Covid crisis and now that we are getting out more with our recreational vehicle on the road I signed back up. I had my coverage previously for years and never used it but little did I know two weeks later... There I was detailing my son's car as he has been extremely busy lately. I discovered a spare key under the floor Matt so I set it aside while cleaning and I had the other key in the ignition, as I switched sides cleaning I shut the door and went to the other side of the vehicle to discover I had locked myself out.
After realizing I wasn't getting back in, a few choice words I remembered??? I had recently signed back up with AAA. I grabbed my card made the call and in a little over an hour Tom with Schmer's Towing arrived and within 5 minutes I was back in action. Now I know I was lucky because I live outside the city of Fort Collins Colorado in the mountains but sometimes lady luck throws you a bone. Tom was on his way back from a call in Cheyenne Wyoming and headed my way. What a gentleman Tom is polite, professional and skilled. No paperwork, NOTHING! He was at the house for 15 minutes and back on the road. AAA took care of everything and the mishap became a pleasant experience, thanks all!

I have been a Automobile Club of Southern California member since 1987 (so 34 years). As a teenager and in my 20s in the late 1980s and 1990s, I was grateful for the quality customer service AAA roadside assistance provided. Back then, you would call, get someone on the phone right away, and the tow truck driver would be out within 45 minutes. Unfortunately as an adult, I have to travel a lot for businsess (with my own personal car) and often rent Rental cars in other states. I am a AAA PLUS member and unfortunately, I have to call AAA probably 1-3 times per year due to blown out tire, flat tire, dead car battery, or tow truck.
The past 15 years, the customer service drops every single year. I would give them a ZERO if possible and do NOT recommend AAA to anyone in 2021. You call now, and they don't want to answer the phone! You are put on hold forever with the same AWFUL music on a loop! You get periodic messages about "download an APP and make your request online." Ridiculous as MANY times I am stuck in an area of Texas or Utah with no wifi!
An ongoing pattern the past couple of years is that they tell you a tow truck is coming, and it NEVER shows up! You call the tow truck company directly after waiting over an hour, and they tell you they are NOT affiliated with AAA. Or I have requested in the past that a flatbed tow truck MUST be sent out, and a small tow truck that is NOT a flatbed shows up after waiting 2 1/2 hours.
Last straw was June 18, 2021 when I called AAA 7 times, got someone on the phone after 15 minutes, and she said tow truck was on the way. Tow truck never came after 90 minutes. I called AAA back, and NO one answered the phone at all! I called 15 times within a 1 hour period, no answer. This was an EMERGENCY and AAA could care less. Seems to me that employees are working from home in CA due to Covid, and refuse to answer their phones! DO NOT USE AAA EVER!

That time came and I had not received ANY update so I called the customer service number back. I was on hold for 1 hour and 58 minutes before I hung up. Meanwhile I downloaded the app and had no pending request for my AAA number. I requested again. I refused to wait at a gas station for any longer so I had a friend come retrieve me. My family and I have been with AAA over 8 yrs now. On the occasion where we've needed to use their services we've had no issues until now, May 2021. My 80yr mother locked her keys in her car and called AAA for assistance. The guy they sent out was able to get into her car after he broke the driver's side handle completely off. He tried to say it was already broke but it WAS NOT. A month later she has been trying to get someone, anyone, to come out and repair the handle but SADLY all she's getting is the run around. I of course have attempted to call and speak with someone about her case, of which they closed without rectifying the issue, but they refuse to speak with me. She's requested to be called during specific hours because on top of everything my mother STILL works. Instead they call at anytime and of course when she cannot be reached.
Now her car cannot be locked. She's having to request rides from family and friends. All she wants is to get her for handle fixed. I'm truly sadden that I've rallied for many friends and family to join and now I'm making calls and sharing my story wherever I can. Thanks AAA for treating an 80yr. old woman like this. This truly shows your lack of integrity.

Been a member since 2000. For 20 years I’ve questioned whether it was an expense I could do without. Then every three years or so I’d lock my keys in my truck or run out of gas and I’d just pay and renew my account. Tonight though my girlfriend locked her keys in the car while visiting a friend. No amount of wire coat hanger bending could get it to unlock. She called me pretty upset because her friend had to leave for work and she was blocking her in. I called AAA and after pressing a hundred buttons was connected to a service advisor.
She told me a service tech from a local auto repair would be there within an hour. I was informed that since the car was not registered to me I’d have to be present with a photo ID. Makes no sense but I got up and drove to my friend's house. The hour goes by, no one has shown. An hour and a half goes by. No one shows, two hours go by. No one still. I’m not even receiving the text messages to inform me of what’s going on. I call AAA again. Once again I have to jump through hoops to get to an advisor. A guy tells me that they had just done shift change but he was getting right on “finding me a service tech”. Finding?
I was told he’d be here over an hour ago. The guy informed me that as of yet they hadn’t been able to find anyone to help me. Another hour goes by. No one. I’ve had my girlfriend drive my truck and take her friend to work. Another hour. No one. Call AAA again. They still haven’t found anyone. Another hour. No one. Called AAA and I’m told there is no one in the area that can assist me. Seriously? Why do I pay for the service? You couldn’t have told me that 6 hours ago? I will be canceling my membership. It’s a complete waste of time and money. I’d give them negative stars if I could.

I checked the conditions of AAA, and I found out that I can add any friend, or person as a driver to my plan. The very first thing that your customer service should have done is to offer me that option. Perhaps they did not have a knowledge of that.

I've been isolated, quarantined (3 times) hospitalized. On stay at home orders and told to avoid being around others until 10 days after my 2nd vaccine because of my immune system. I was diagnosed twice by phone because I had severe Covid like symptoms and it wasn't wanted for me to go to the ER nor my Drs office because if I had Covid I could spread it and if not could get it because my immune system was/is so bad. The infectious disease specialist couldn't figure out what kind of pneumonia I had. It wasn't the usual kinds and it took a month of switching antibiotics to find 1 that was helping. I left AMA. The last quarantine was because I had contact with a person who had Covid. I was sent a test but I was too sick to even open it up and I was home alone. My car registration was paid. It is paid now as well but with all of this and stay at home orders I was not able to get the required smog check.
During normal times DMV allows 6mos. I was passed that. When I tried to get it there was a line (not social distancing) and people were being told they'd have to try the following day or the next. I hadn't been able to get vaccinated until 3/26 and 4/23/21 because of the shortage. DMV had on their website to get the smog checks when pandemic issues settled down. I decided to do what the Dr advised and wait 10 days after my 2nd, but on 4/16 my car was impounded. I was having everything delivered but I ran out of my medication and was afraid to have a seizure so I was going to the drive-thru pharmacy. My very old car broke down. I got a tow from AAA.
When the driver got to my house he said he couldn't put my car in my driveway because his truck was too heavy for our driveway. I live in a back house. I told him it was street sweeping and I couldn't afford a ticket (I am disabled widow with fixed income). He refused to put my car where it goes. My driveway, next to my house. He left my car almost a block away. I went into my house to call AAA for another tow. We've had many tow trucks on that driveway. None were ever too heavy and this truck was the same size appearance wise. AAA knew my car was going to a residence. Within maybe a half hour my vehicle was taken. It was so far up the street that I didn't hear it. It was so quick. I didn't even see the street sweeper. I called sheriff's they had no info. I finally found it at an impound yard.
The owner/operator told me public safety had it towed for incomplete registration. I told him the secretary said public safety was closed every other Friday and wouldn't be back until Monday as was city hall. He said he couldn't release my car unless I paid public safety $145 for release. I asked where to go. He didn't know. I told him it wasn't fair to punish me because of covid issues and that my car always had up to date registration. I just couldn't get it smogged. Not his problem. The girl that kept answering the public safety phone didn't know who I could get the release from or who I could ask. City Hall was off as well and I emailed several people that had important sounding titles there as well. I did give up around 5pm. Pretty much hysterical. I only had $500 to last me until June 5th which is not even here yet. I've had to go without food and medication and feel so ill. I have no transportation.
That Monday there still was no response to any of my attempts to contact. This time when I called the public safety number a supervisor I had left several messages for answered. He had obviously gotten them cause he was as rude as could be. I was distraught and he was mockingly saying things in a sing song voice and telling me they worked everyday but Sunday and that he didn't know who could've told me they didn't. He was obviously amused by the situation and how upset I was that I was forced to leave my car in the impound 4 days. It was so bad I hung up on him and was immediately contacted by the director. I was again crying and saying I didn't have money for 4 days.. I had no money for food, nor medicine if the fees would be for 4 days and I was afraid to have a seizure. I told him Covid wasn't my fault. He didn't care.
I told him impounding my car and being off 4 days couldn't get legal and that I could bring documentation. It wasn't until I asked why they return my calls, emails, voicemails, msgs, posts, anything, so I could get my car day 1. He said he tried to call me on Saturday but their system was down. I said. Nobody had a cellphone? Silence. So I said, or if it's your personal #, you couldn't call sheriff's and have them tell me where to get a release? When I said that he said they'd waive the release fee. Impound wanted $700. I mistakenly said I had $500 to my name. He dropped it to that amount and left me penniless. He left bogus charges like $70 notification fee. $70 lien notification which appears to be the same mailed letter that I got 2 days after I had my car. It had a 52 cent stamp on it. But cost me $70. They didn't notify me. I found my car. AAA won't give me info and nobody knows who the driver was. I find that impossible to believe.

As I waited with the vehicle after some time friends hiked several miles to get ahold of them. 4 Hours later...they inform us they've cancelled the tow. For a variety of reasons by different operators apparently.
B. They couldn't find our location. (Gave them GPS coordinates which they didn't even know how to take.)
C. It was a graded dirt road. (Which told the operator that in the first place?)
When friends finally spoke to AAA after these 4 hours they told us to seek a local tow company and they would reimburse the tow up to 100 miles. Well that was good because at this point the closest tire shop was closed. We ended up with close to a 100 mile tow that cost $1400. Following day... my membership doesn't include a 100 mile tow but a 5 mile tow. Not their problem they say that the operator was misinformed. The best they can do is advise her for future calls. This premier service is absolute crap unless you need simple help on the side of a main road. I was told the 'multiple function switch' was not sending a message to the headlights to turn on, that it needed repair. I was informed it would cost nearly $500.00. Needless to say, I was not a happy camper. I was not about to pay that much to have my headlights fixed.
After I left, and after a suggestion from a friend and on a whim, I went to an auto parts store, purchased new headlight bulbs, installed them, and whatd'yaknow, they WORKED. I do not understand, if the mechanics there are supposed to be 'professional', why they would tell me I needed to pay almost $500.00 for a repair that did not need to happen. I'd say the person who 'inspected' my car is either a very poor mechanic or is someone who enjoys taking advantage of people whenever they deem it possible.

The Roadside service that I purchase for $80 yearly isn't worth it based on their horrible customer service. I attempted to use this road side service with needing a car tow. They told me to wait up to an hour next to my car on the side of the road. After 4 hours and nobody showed up to tow, I paid a company out of pocket. The customer service line had a 45 minute plus wait to even get a hold of anyone. They are unprofessional and unreliable!

AAA roadside side service is the worst I ever had--hit an icy patch went into ditch and blew a tire. Called for a tow truck. They said would be to me by 11am. This was 9:30am--11 came they never showed up--11:30 woman called from Johnny Automatic towing service. Said they couldnt come out till Thursday to help me. This is Tuesday morning.. They told me it would be best if I flagged down someone to help me--I pay 86.00 a year for this service and they have the gull to tell me this.. Cancelled service next day -- a kind gentleman did stop and help me.. Screw AAA.

Last night my wife call Triple A for assistance with a flat tire. She was directed by a computer response to go to the website and fill in all her information. This is very tedious on a phone, but she did it. She was then informed to wait with her car for Triple A to call back with details on a tow truck. A tow truck never showed and Triple A never called back. This is the second time this has happened. I will be dropping all AAA services and insurances. I would recommend that you stay away from this company. Their customer service is terrible.

Been a customer for well over 20+ years. As it stands one cannot ride in their car while in Tow and cannot ride in the cab so if you're 70 miles from anywhere and cannot get a taxi you're walking to your destination which would take about 10 hours on foot. Why? I'll allow you to figure that one out since heaven forbid anyone express an opinion contrary to the narrative of such things. Let us disregard my own 18+ years experience in the medical profession with the equivalent of a Doctorate level of education as well as it attributes to my own professional insights.
I canceled my members for a variety of reasons and I suggest people start doing this as well. I can't see any benefit of having a towing service that would just leave the person stranded to walk because of changes in policy so I guess it's better someone be accidentally hit by a car walking on a back road or worse is better off. A real shame considering I really Iiked AAA but long live fearmongering I guess. I would come back if they lightened up on their policy a bit at this point to make some exceptions.

I have been a AAA member for over 20+ years and I have never felt more taken advantage of a company than I do today. I have had AAA roadside service to jump my car these past few weeks. My car battery seems to be dead after just a few short minutes running the radio. Two or three weeks ago I asked to have my battery replaced after the battery going out after just a few minutes. At that time, was told that the battery was good. This last weekend the battery stopped working again but with no notice from AAA, I am no longer able to have AAA come out to service my car. This and it was very hard getting my car to turn over and start. My car is good about letting me know of problems with it by way of the dashboard lights. No dashboard lights are on. Just spoke with a Supervisor/Manager of AAA Roadside Service and they are not going to help me out when my battery does fail me in the next few days.

We called AAA to replace the battery in our 2011 Pilot and within 30 minutes they were changing it. Jeff ** was very friendly at all times and professionally reviewed everything and confirmed what the dealer had told me in the morning at the pilot's service. The dealer wanted to charge me $ 190 for a new battery but I remembered that we had recently changed the one of our 2015 CRV for a better price and I was not wrong, I saved 40 dollars by calling AAA, and the best of all was the excellent service from Jeff **, I am convinced that we will always continue with this very good service that we have had for 8 years since we moved to the USA. Thank you AAA!

Bought a battery from AAA with a 3 year warranty. I've had the battery for less than a year and had to have it jump started 3 times. Had it in to get the oil changed and the battery needed to be jump started. The mechanic said the battery was faulty and by their standards need to be replaced (not enough voltage or cold cranking amps). Called AAA to have the battery replaced under warranty, but the service person comes out and runs the battery test with his equipment and says it is just fine, he can't replace it under the warranty. He also notes that, even though I drove the car over 30 miles yesterday, it is only 13% charged today. Clearly, this battery is a lemon, but they have rigged the testing so that they will never have to replace a battery under warranty. What a rip-off!!! Called AAA to log a complaint against their policies and got the run-around from the customer service person. I will be cancelling my AAA membership. What a terrible organization.

I have been a member of AAA for many years. They are so reliable and are always accurate or earlier when responding. This is very in portent living in Orchard Park New York.(western New York near Buffalo). I worry about Debbie getting stuck or my daughters and grandchildren and pay for coverage for all of them. My daughters have had an incident that both had and we're so thankful to have AAA to rescue them. So worth it. I made myself the hero for something they had and took for granted.

I like having AAA as insurance that my wife and I will have towing or roadside assistance if we need it. There is nothing like breaking down to ruin your day anyway. Having AAA makes the inconvenience less of a cost and headache. Being able to have a tire changed on the road during inclement weather is good to have. Not worrying about an issue my wife might have when she is traveling is peace of mind for me.

These guys are flat out the best of the road services I have used. I have had all kinds of roadside emergencies from flat tires to lock outs and when I call them they are rapid, courteous and they keep you informed to the minute with texts. Every time I have used them, (which have been many and well worth the money I spend for AAA Plus), the dispatcher gives an estimate of the time involved and checks to make sure I am in a safe location, asking if I am safe where I am. Consistently the estimated time has been either met or the help arrives before the estimated time.

I have used AAA for many years on several different cars that I have owned and they are very good, and it's worth the membership of $59 a year. You get roadside assistance for flat tires, lock outs, out of gasoline, breakdowns, and auto accidents! And I have had to use them for all of the things above, so I know what I am talking about. I recommend AAA! Now the bigger the city, the longer the wait, I used to live in a smaller city and they would come in under 30 minutes, but in Atlanta it take up to an hour, but it's worth the wait, because they will come out.

I dislike the fact that you only receive four service calls a year. The basic membership only allows three free miles of towing. The other two are up to 100+ per tow. This seems unfair for the price we pay for thr services.
