My daughter was dropped from my policy effective immediately without warning. Apparently she used the membership disproportionately or falling outside the terms and conditions as explained in their Member Guide. They said that they went back 3 years and that she had cost them too much money. So they are striking her, apparently forever. She did have an undependable car. I have been a customer for 18 years, never requiring more than made me a viable member to have. Why could she or I not have been given some type of warning that we were in danger of being cut? We could have adjusted somehow in order not to lose a membership.

The company appears to be on a tear to eliminate members right now, as indicated by some recent reviews here. Customer service was rude and absolutely unfeeling to me when I called for an explanation. You know, it just kind of feels like entrapment. We won't tell you what you have done wrong. One day you will just get a curt letter. And a loud, pushy "customer service" rep if you take it any further.

Had a flat tire east of Crestview, FL. on May 9, 2019. Called AAA and they said they were sending someone out. My spouse and I are in our 70’s and have been members for years. We were uncomfortable because it was a desolate stretch of I-10. After an hour or more Country Towing Service from Marianna, FL showed up but he didn’t have the correct tool to fix our tire. We called around and found the tool and paid for it over the phone with our credit card. CTS left us and he said he was going to pick it up. He never did. He never returned. No one called us. We sat on the side of I-10 for over 3 hours. We finally found Road Mart to come out and change our tire. Horrible service. Will never renew my membership again.

I was Called to get service. I was left on hold over 30 minutes the first time and the representative was really rude and wasn’t listening. Then I called back and spoke with a supervisor who then says I don’t have a claim in the system only to then come back to the phone and say someone will be out within the next hour. The point is they left me stranded over two hours and the phone operators are rude and no help. If you want to be found on the road dead get AAA. If not I suggested getting another roadside assistance company.

After 33 years of being a AAA Plus member, nearly 25 with AAA Carolinas, they dropped “me”, not my husband, just me because last year I supposedly had too many calls, though I was under the allotted number for our family. The problem being, we have a new driver who forgot once to get gas before coming home. Add in that for part of the year I was driving a borrowed pickup from our church which the gas needle was broken on, while my engine in my car was being replaced after a recall issue. As a result of the new engine, there was a subsequent battery issue I had to call for help on. I’m disabled, I have heart failure and other issues.

Now after all these years of being a member, not using much of anything on the membership, I get unceremoniously booted without warning just because we had a bad year??? Then when you call in you get a snarky witch who refuses to give you any solid info and DARES you to go legal, telling you there’s no appeal or recourse because they are a “private company.” Well darlin, the recourse you have left a disabled, previously long-time faithful member with is to go public, loud and clear, and warn other members and those considering signing on DON’T DO IT!!! You’ll find yourself like all the rest of us you’ll read on here...totally screwed over. Not worth it. Until someone takes over leading AAA Carolinas with a true customer service mentality, go check out other options. You’ll save yourself a lot of heartache.

Worst customer service ever! As a Premier Member, I was extremely disappointed in the time it to get a tow truck to my location in a highly populated tourist area. It took AAA over six hours to have a tow truck respond! At first there was a 90 minute window. After two hours, I called AAA again, only to find out there would be another one hour wait! After each hour when I called them (they didn't call me), there was another hour wait (what a joke). This went on from about 4:30pm until after 10:30pm when the tow finally showed up! Why am I paying for service I'm not getting? NEVER AGAIN! Wish I could rate this service a zero!

I've had AAA plus off and on for years, rarely use a service. Latest issue, AAA will not ask dispatch for a driver that can bring a 5 gallon container of gas. They say they only supply 2 gallons. I've called many times yesterday and today. I'm at a new home in a new place alone in the Ocala National Forest, miles from any store or gas station. No Uber, no Lyft, nothing. While working on my Suburban with many issues, it's now sitting empty of fuel unable to continue repair as AAA will not bring adequate fuel. Customer service has said plus members get 5 gallons max, apparently that's more of a sales tactic lie, even though some reps agree to the 5 gallon statements. Just try and get it when you need it! AAA leaves me stranded. Never will I renew.

I signed up for AAA so I could get some peace of mind when I'm on the road. Last time we had a flat tire, the screws were on so tight that we couldn't do it ourselves and a specialist had to bring a machine to do it, so it made sense to get AAA as to not be stuck in a similar situation. This morning I woke up with a flat tire. I call emergency line to put in a request. I have a personal vehicle, when I put in the request, they asked for my license plate number which I gave them. When the guy gets here he tells me that he wasn't able to do it because of my plates and he needed to check in with a supervisor. He comes back and says I have commercial plates on the car and they can only do it for a fee. I have AAA plus. I tell them it’s fine. I am not paying extra for a service I already paid for.

The man leaves and since he says the problems were my plates and I was due to get new plates and had the personal vehicle registration for the car I call them back. They send someone back who asked to see my car registration (which expires in June 2020) that matches my car and since it was Sunday I was due to pick up the new plates that Monday but I had all the paperwork he asked for. They refused to change the tire. It was just a flat tire. I'm already a member and it was my car. They not only refused to change the tire but they wanted to charge me $60 for something that is covered under my membership. Nevertheless, when I signed up for AAA, my understanding was that I would be covered for their services under my membership.

Per other reviews I've read, AAA will find any loophole to shell more money from you. When they say assistance, remember the fine prints: at their convenience and per their discretion. Luckily I got a flat in front of my home. Had I been stranded on the streets somewhere, I would have been stuck with a flat and a bill from AAA. Since I found AAA to be a useless service, I called them to cancel. Not only did I not get all my money back, they prorated my fee to the day of cancellation. If you're looking for peace of mind when you're on the road, make sure you have some extra money laying around that you can shell out to them just in case.

This is the third bad experience I’ve had with AAA in Warrington PA. It’s a really long story and then deserve any kind of attention anymore whatsoever especially after looking at all the reviews on Consumer Affairs - little on everywhere else that the reviews are actually really matter in one store across the board. For over 250 reviews basically says it all.

They left me in a hot car when I ran out of gas today coming out of a off ramp onto a highway with my ear all autistic son. The supervisor David treated me with so much disrespect and horrific demeanor. That’s imagine he told me that he is at supervisor of right now work weekends so I’ll be able to talk to her. After being on the board few times trying to find out where my dispatcher was when they were supposed to be there within 30 minutes, 30 minutes I need to still had never received even a text that my driver was on his way. Every time I cough I kept getting thrown back into the automated system making me repeat myself. Just the yellow one is 20 minutes away love you have a moment.

They finally showed up 45 minutes later. Going for a run out of gas because my shop and tell me that they drove my car all over the place I just picked it up. This experience was extremely scary. I had a drivers just show up at a nowhere - doesn’t even speak to me. It’s in front of my car starts backing up to it to hook me onto a tub when I was just waiting for gas and when I start to get out the car and the driver screens like a psychopath at the top of demanding me to get back into the car again. Another horrible experience with Supervisor and I step in the.

We said OK we would wait. My boyfriend waited there for an hour and a half, still nobody arrived. He had to cancel the towing and walked home in the rain. Terrible experience. If they cannot arrive within one hour, they shouldn't have said they would arrive in one hour.

I wish I could remember the CSR I spoke with today. I can't remember his name, but I hope he reads this review because he doesn't have a clue about customer service. It's a long story. I called AAA this morning to have my car towed to a shop because no one showed up the night before when I was stranded on the side of the road for 3 hours. I told him I wasn't with the vehicle. I left the key in the car for the tow company because I was told that they could tow the car if the key was with the car even though I am not.

The CSR blurted out that I had to be with the vehicle. I said "no I don't." He said "yes you do, I work here and I should know." Umm... I am a CSR also with another company and I know that is the wrong thing to say to a customer, especially a customer that is already frustrated and angry at the service so far. I hung up and called right back. This time I got a woman. She was very polite and listened the entire time at my complaint, unlike the guy that I just spoke to. Guess what?! She connected me to someone that could help me and this person got a tow truck to go pick up my car and tow it to a shop-WITHOUT ME BEING THERE WITH THE VEHICLE!! The tow company called me and was able to take my car to the shop. That is all the CSR first CSR had to do, was listen.

Probably one of the worst experiences of my life. Broken down on interstate 95 with six lanes of heavy traffic my son and I were stranded and called AAA and they said a tow truck would arrive in about 45 minutes. After waiting 45 minutes without hearing anything I called AAA and the operator was very short with me and said I need to wait at least an hour and he didn't follow up or check status of the driver. I then called back 20 minutes later after not hearing anything and the dispatcher said it would be at least another hour! I then called a friend who went to the auto parts store bought the belt I needed picked up some tools and brought them to me. I repaired the car got it running and left after 3 hours. Halfway home I got a call from a tow truck driver saying he would be there soon! Thanks AAA for leaving me and my son stranded for 3 hours in heavy traffic and 95 degree sun. Next time I will not renew my membership and rely on friends instead!

They attempt to call AAA also for me and sent out a CHP. A officer did not show up until 9:00 pm. He radio in to see where AAA was and was told they was on the way. He waited with me but by 9:45 pm no one came. So the officer had change my tire with the little bit of tools we did have to get me on my way. I’m so so thankful for him. I was headed home by 10 pm.

I agreed to it, was charged the increased rate on my credit card immediately and 2 weeks later got my new gold membership card in the mail. 24 days after ordering my maps I called back to learn the maps had never been ordered. But Jenna probably met her sales quota for April 2. Good customer service? I think not. I did express my dissatisfaction to a supervisor.

Received a letter canceling my grandson's membership, which I gave him for high school graduation. AAA advertises their membership makes perfect gifts for the graduates in our life. I beg to differ. I have been a 40 year plus member and received a letter, without warning, that my grandson's membership was canceled immediately as a result of the membership being used disproportionately or falling outside the terms and conditions as explained in the member guide. I hate I could not afford to purchase him a brand new car, but even my new car had to have a tow due to a faulty pre-collision system rendered it undrivable out of my driveway.

When I called the AAA Carolinas Member Services phone number to question the 'drop' cancellation of service and asked for an explanation of their vague verbiage, I was told by their Associate that my grandson 'exceeded' what AAA considers to be "average" number of calls. I asked her what was considered average and she responded 1 or 2 times was considered average.

I responded that well I guess I too exceeded my limit. I also questioned why there was no notice whatsoever. I asked to speak to a supervisor or someone to 'explain' that my grandson's used car had a bad alternator and was towed, then a small hole in the radiator, I had that replaced, then it needed a new water pump, which I replaced, then another alternator because the first one was defective, then I replaced the engine, during which time a wire was not put back as it should, requiring another tow for diagnostics & tighten the wire. A flat tire on his car and a flat tire while he was driving my truck.

I should have canceled 3 years ago after my husband sat on a desolate road for 4 hours in Alabama waiting on an AAA approved tow truck who missed him, drove to the next exit and took 30 minutes to return. Now I am in search of a new roadside assistance program! Do NOT give a membership to the graduates in your life. I had to laugh when I saw that advertisement in GO magazine! I am embarrassed that I gave this worthless gift.

I've had AAA for about eight years and also signed up my daughter, my girlfriend, my girlfriend's daughter and myself so I was paying AAA about $350 a year. My girlfriend, her daughter wanted to go to the Tough Mudder in Reno so they took my Lincoln and the car overheated in the town of Auburn so they called AAA. It was a Friday night AAA couldn't pick them up until Monday morning!

So I drove my pickup to Auburn and give them my truck and called AAA again with my personal card and they gave me the same story. I had to wait for almost 3 days to be towed. So I called customer service and spoke with a very nice gentleman who said he was going to reimburse me for my AAA card because it was now worthless! He was also going to sign everybody up for the next year on premium service for free. He also said if I paid to have the car towed AAA would reimburse me for the tow and they would even pay for my gasoline to drive up there to save my girlfriend.

After all those things were accomplished I called AAA and they claimed that the representative had no rights to tell me and promised me all those items and they were going to do absolutely nothing! I thought it was just a simple understanding since we came to an agreement but they completely reneged on all agreements! I promptly canceled my service and went with the new company called Better World Towing. I asked them to be removed from all mailing lists. They still send me mail and say they want me back! Of course they want me back to pay him $350 a year for nothing! People that claim they love AAA have never actually use their service! And they've been paying it for like 20 to 40 years!

Well, my girl locked her keys inside one of our cars while she was at work. Called AAA of WA Bellevue office, and they told me our policy was CANCELLED! They never called me, or sent any text, or any snail mail either to let US know our policy was cancelled. I used AAA just one time this year, 3 weeks ago, and that was it! The contract stated they would tow our vehicles up to 200 miles, and up to 4 times a year. They towed my vehicle only time this year...ONE FREAKIN' TIME! And they cancelled??? WHY?? The tow was well over 100 miles, But less than the maximum (200 miles) ALLOWED LIMIT. I think they got a costly bill from a contracted tow truck company for that one and only tow, and that could be the whole reason why they left us high and dry on the lockout? Maybe, maybe not.

I had problems with another car a couple of other times last month, and they said it would take 2 hours to get a tow truck out. I cancelled that tow, and drove my car 5 mph on the shoulder of the road, not once, but twice because of their SUPER SLOW SERVICE. The other time, I waited well over an hour and a half, then they called me back and said it would take another 90 minutes more for the tow truck to arrive!!!! I SAID FORGET IT!! Sick of this crap! I limped her home once again, it was a NIGHTMARE! Cars honking, people screaming at me etc... Now what If my wife was with our grandkids and this happened to HER?? What if I was out of town? I think what really pissed em off is when I took one of their online "surveys" and told them I would not refer anyone to their business (funny how they sent the survey to my email, but not the cancellation). WHY WOULD I? I was just being HONEST.

Anyways, I rescued my wife, and she was well over 60 miles away, and we ruined her car door to retrieve the keys she left inside. I thought I was paying for Auto lock out service! SIGH I wouldn’t refer this place to my worst enemy. I have dealt with A LOT of businesses in my life, but this is POSITIVELY the worse I've ever ran across. Also, when I asked them about my cancellation they wouldn’t tell me WHY the policy was cancelled. Can you believe that??? They said they'll send me out a letter, even after I asked for the Manager, or someone who knew more. He said there was no one else he would direct me to, plain and simple. What kind of outfit is this? They were RUDE and INCONSIDERATE and MEAN! They wouldn’t give me a straight answer! I’m gonna fight for OUR rights and get a lawyer for all of this BS.

It’s NOT the money, it’s all about the Principle, and emotional distress for the two of us. How dare these idiots leave my little sweetheart locked out of her car without giving us any reason, or any heads up on this so called cancellation? If I knew our roadside assistance was cancelled, I would of never called them in the first place! Couldn’t they have sent an email? Or a simple phone call?? Or even a short text? They had all my contact info. Good God! UNBELIEVABLE!!!! I'll get my day in court. I’m suing! :(

No, I discovered through billing that I don't have AAA/UTAH, but continue to be locked into AAA/COLORADO billing due to their CONTRACT system! So, even though I moved to another state, I am bound to this contract with that state in that office -- will not receive services in Utah - but have to pay them off - BEFORE - I can use AAA/UTAH -- and start my subscription here! Now, was this explained to me, up front? Nope!

I found out the hard way because I wanted to keep my AAA, but I had no idea that they are state to state, not ONE BIG HAPPY COMPANY - they lied and misrepresented their services and contract - just to get $$$ -- and forget the services in another state -- so, if you can avoid them - do so! And when I called to speak to them about it - they had no shame in lying, misrepresenting and fraudulently implying that my calling in and switching states would cause an issue - oh, no, it was money this - money that - contract this - contract that - buyer beware - this is your fault - for what? Trusting you to be honest? To portray your services accurately, which would allow me to have a choice or to know what was going on?

Oh, no, it was slanted like a $2.00 car salesmen and when I expressed my distress over this discovery they had absolutely no shame! None! They didn't even have the ability to admit they had misrepresented this program and nor did they want to listen to the call their representative had with me - and even switched me over to the Utah AAA - in the process - all the while leading me to believe I'd simply transitioned from one state to another -- using the same company - THEY ARE NOT THE SAME COMPANY!

They are a FRANCHISE, much like a hamburger drive through - without the integrity of a drive through - all they cared about was pointing out I owed them money no matter what because I'd been tricked into a contract -- without having the full knowledge - that if I moved - I wasn't moving with AAA - from state to state - I was moving to another state, but still had to pay for services I could not use - and they had no idea why that might bother me! So, unless you have no other choice, do not use these people, they are absolute liars & tricksters!

I have found that after 18 years of membership AAA has decided to start committing fraud and not standing behind their own membership plans. They refused to send traffic school papers to court causing points to be added to my record and now courts say it's too late to fix. They over doubled my insurance rates over this. I had medical problems and due to those, the hospital had my license suspended for 90 days until my condition was stable. According to AAA a suspension is a suspension, who cares why (even though DMV cares). Then 2 weeks ago I call for a tow because I was stuck in mud. I have a 4x4 with all the tow hooks needed for a rescue. The tow truck driver shows up and says AAA won't help and gave me his business card and said they would tow me for 255$ an hour. Thank God we have a community of offroaders that pulled together and saved me. AAA doesn't cover what they claim and commit insurance fraud.

On March 9, 2019 I got a flat tire heading from Raleigh NC to Durham NC. Called AAA, they sent out a contractor Holmes/Towmark Agency. After 40 minutes the guy arrived replaced my flat with my spare. I got back on the road feeling a vibration. On March 11, 2019 coming from Durham NC back to Raleigh NC the vibration got worse. Suddenly it felt like the tire went flat again. I pulled over and saw 5 lug nuts lying on the ground next to my rear left wheel. I saw that the lug nuts had come off and only 1 lug nut was holding the wheel on.

Pissed, I called AAA again and again they sent out a contractor - State Farm. The guy had a hard time getting the tire off and back on due to the lug nuts being bent and 1 of the lug nuts had a broken off lug nut inside of it. AAA guy Marcus pulled up looked at the damage said he was a supervisor and would be in touch. I had to pay for 6 new lug nuts, bolts and new tire. My mechanic had a hard time getting the bent lugs off to replace them. Not to mention the brake pad was damaged.

I contacted AAA to make my complaint. They asked me to send pictures in of the damage. (I did). I spoke to many people and they promised to get back in touch never did. I got a call from a guy named Clay who took the information and stated he'd be in touch the next day. I got an email from Sherette Edwards asking for pictures. I spoke to Meagan and Melanie. I was asked to contact Tamila Pernell. Making a complaint, I finally spoke with a lady named Noele and she stated the company that replaced my flat stated they were not at fault. I explained, I pay AAA not these other contractor's they send out, so AAA should be liable. AAA should be ashamed - I could have gotten into a very bad accident due to lose lug nuts coming off... Shame...

My car broke down in the middle of the road Friday, 3/22/19. I had it towed to a nearby repair shop where I was told that there was so much wrong with the car, my best bet would not to put any more money into it. They couldn’t even give me an exact diagnostic. Multiple sensors were broken to the point they were unable to pinpoint the exact problems for my car not being able to run.

Mind you, my first time signing up for membership, which was Friday, I had to pay for the membership PLUS additional fees for needing assistance the same day. Total of nearly $160. Now that I took the repair shop’s advice not to have this car fixed, I called AAA so that I could have it removed out of their lot and towed 3 miles away. AAA is trying to charge me an additional $80 for this service since my car is technically “fixable.” This was never explained. I would have NEVER signed up or paid for a membership with this company. It was such a RIPOFF. Please be smart when needing roadside assistance.

We have been customers of AAA Roadside Assistance and AAA Car Insurance for more than 10 years. But tomorrow I will be finding new insurance and canceling both. My son's grandmother let him go driving (he has his permit). The car broke down. Called to have towed. We are Premiere customers. If we want him towed, we must add him to the plan. He is a minor with a learner's permit. Wanted us to pay $300 upfront to renew our plan plus $50 for adding him on today in an emergency situation.

My husband requested they call the tow truck and he would drive to meet them since he must be present. They would not send truck until my husband arrived on the scene (about a 30-minute drive), then he would need to call again and request service at that time. Seriously? We've been faithful customers of AAA for 10 years and have recommended them to our friends. AAA, this is not how you should do business. And because of it, you have lost ours.

December 2017 me and my husband went to AAA for car insurance. We have 3 cars. The price was over $2000 and it sounded fair. We paid more than half 3 weeks. After one of our cars was parked outside and someone hit our car and it was total lost. Everything was ok but when we call to remove the car they just took away from all the cost for the whole yr like $47 dlls. It was ok... We didn't make a big deal. Well we got a new car. They charged us over $600 dlls to add this car. I was like wow WTF. You returned only $47 for the other car so now I have to pay almost $3000 for the insurance for one yr.

My husband at some point said oh well... Well he called today and they told him that they couldn't cover the new car because it was salvage so my husband cancel the insurance and they are just returning $400 dlls from what we paid but they took $168 dlls from my account on 3/19 and they said it's for this month but we don't have any coverage with them anymore. They are just stealing our money!!! STAY AWAY FROM THIS INSURANCE COMPANY. I DONT RECOMMEND.

At 0700 on January 1st 2019 I contacted AAA for two tows in able to make it to work that day. The first vehicle was a Scion TC that had a snapped timing belt (Service # **), the second vehicle was a Rav4 that simply would not start (Service # **). Shortly after the call I was notified by AAA the tows could not be provided by Highlands Auto Wreckers due to snow and to call back later. At noon that same day I called again once the roads had been plowed, AAA said they would dispatch their towing vehicles and ensured that I would receive text messages regarding updates. After a couple hours I had received no updates and the trucks still had not arrived so I called AAA again and was told the roads were still bad and the tow company (Highlands Auto Wreckers) would not be able to make it until later.

At 1600 later that day I called for a fourth time to see if the towing company would be available. I was notified the towing company (Highlands Auto Wreckers) was refusing to come to my location and that a complaint would be filed against them and that I would be contacted in a couple of days regarding the complaint. At this time I was also told to call again the following morning so AAA could schedule both tows with a company other than Highlands Auto Wreckers. The next morning on January 2nd, 2019 at 0700 I called and scheduled to have the vehicles towed with a very specific note for both service numbers on each vehicle. The noted specified not to contact Highland Auto Wreckers due to their continuous excuses.

However, two hours later I had to call back because no service was dispatched. At this time I spoke to a Supervisor, Stephanie **, who assured me the problem would be taken care of with no exception, that both tows would be of the highest priority, and not to worry because she would personally take care of the situation. An hour later I received a call from a AAA representative who stated Highlands Auto Wreckers would not be able to come to my location! I had to explain to them for the sixth time the situation and I was finally transferred to Stephanie ** again who explained to me I would need to find my own means of towing now 27 HOURS after my initial call to AAA and I would have to file for reimbursement.

After one phone call to another towing company I was able to ascertain their service and have both cars towed within a couple of hours. The reason why having the vehicles towed was such a high priority is because I am a Registered Respiratory Therapist at our local hospital. My main responsibility in this position is responding to all codes, intubations, traumas, and life-threatening situations in which case life support is utilized. Hence my need for reliable towing, which in this case was negligent by AAA. Stephanie ** ultimately denied my reimbursement claim because extrication was involved before the towing. I fully understand extrication is not covered in my policy, however I feel because I pay for towing services the towing portion of the reimbursement claim should be reimbursed. AAA still refuses to reimburse this.

Granted, I had a great experience in the Hammond/Munster, Indiana, area with a flat tire and service in less than one hour. So I will give Kudos there! Unfortunately, when flat-tire service was critical because my son was very ill and weakened; and, I am 70 years old: AAA was nowhere to be found. I broke down on I-94 & US 20 @ Michigan City, Indiana, which is a large city. Thankfully, it was a lighted area.

When I placed the call on a Friday at 9:30 p.m., the service was being sent from Hammond, Indiana, about 50 miles away. Really? There was no service on a Friday night from Michigan City or closer? No way I could have sat there for the initial 2-hour window, under the circumstances. Even after waiting, I never received a GPS tracking of any truck leaving Hammond. A good Samaritan stopped and helped us. Therefore, I canceled the service call. (A larger breaker bar was probably more of a help, since the lugs were very tight and the one that came with the car gave NO leverage. Hint!) Today, I received the upcoming May, 2019, renewal notice. When I contacted C.S. the lady was attentive, she then tried to transfer my call to the department that reviews your complaints. After, 14 minutes, I finally hung up because they never picked-up her call. CANCELLING uncompromisingly!

After near an hour they called me back and said that no tow trucks were available. All were on long tows and then suggested that I call the State Troopers to stay with me and were going to continue to try. I did that. VDOT truck stopped first and a very nice State Trooper stayed with me as we waited to hear back from AAA. Almost another hour went by... And decided to call AAA back. They then proceeded to tell me that no tow truck would be available to help me that night and the State Trooper could call a tow. And I would be reimbursed.

Keep in mind that I was only 18 miles away and I was easily accessible to tow services from Richmond to Williamsburg you would think. The tow truck came and out of my pocket it was 205.00 for a 18 mile tow. Submitted the paperwork to get reimbursement via email...which I was told would be quicker than mailing and now a month has passed and no reimbursement. Couldn't be more disappointed with AAA and it is clear that they have very few tow companies on contract and more are signed up with the State Police because of better fees.

This is not the first time I have had a problem with AAA. I have been a member off and on over the years and must say it is going downhill very fast. Am a member for years now. Two years ago my truck was towed from my home to my mechanic a few miles away or so I thought. When I arrived to pick a few personal items from my truck at my mechanics what a shock to not find it in his lot. When I called AAA they said it was dropped off at the address that I provided that they read back to me. Yet no truck in sight? After two hours of going round and round with them as we drove around looking for it we saw a AAA tow truck with my truck on the back. It dropped it off at the wrong location? WOW JUST WOW! Today I called and was told a truck would be at my location within an hour. An hour and fifteen minutes had gone by I called again and was told fifteen minutes away.

When 30 minutes went by and I called again only to be told they had no record of my call? Was told they put my call on high priority and a truck would arrive within a 30 minutes. After waiting another 45 minutes the truck showed up? This was a total of three hours from the time of my first call on the side of a two lane state route that has very heavy traffic. To add to that I missed work waiting for the truck to arrive. Must say this is a very bad way to run a well known company that people are paying for emergency roadside service for, no rain no snow temps in the fifties what gives? Going to use my insurance companies towing from now on! And to think I just dumped more money into AAA for premium service to boot. Not at all happy with AAA at this point. Waiting for a call on what went wrong from a rep. Hope others have had better results!

Good afternoon, on February 23rd of 2019 I signed up for AAA to obtain their services. I did not have a clear understanding of the services provided so I called them to be explained and see if I could use their services since I was in need of them. Willing to save a little money but also aware that any services have a cost. When I called the lady on the phone told me they could not assist me with providing me the services since I had to wait a 7 days before using the services. Since I was not aware of this, I told them to please cancel the services since they were asking me to pay 9 dollars per mile and I was 50 miles away from home. I decided it was no saving, that I might as well call the towing services and paid $150. Whenever I was on the phone they transfer me over to a different department to help me with my refund.

I was told that I would be refunded in 3 business days and that my cancellation had been processed. Here we are on March 12 of 2019 and no refund has been given to me. Today when I called at 6pm I was transferred to Ashley a supervisor and was told that they couldn’t refund me because their monthly services cannot be refunded (even though I made no use of the services and I was advised I would be refunded on 2/23/2019). She advised me that they would coach the person that took my call. But they couldn’t help me with my request.

It is sad that companies like this take your money and lie about services to get you to sign up. Save yourselves the bad services and customer service this company provides and take your money to a company that will honor what they say. I was not given a refund and am sure since they are a big company they won’t care about reviews but I hope this can be of help to some people. Hopefully this time my cancellation has been processed and I won’t get charge another month for no services provided.

We have been a AAA member for over 7 years and have rarely used it but kept up our membership. Then when we really needed it, they let us down 3 times in the past 2 months! First, our truck wouldn't start in the cold weather & we were home & in a safe place & so they said it would be 48 hours before we could expect service. They didn't come but called 72 hours later to ask if we still needed service! Which we didn't by then. Then the next time a week later, our daughter's truck wouldn't start in a ramp in downtown Minneapolis while we were out of the country. It is much too lengthy to describe but needless to say that 4 days later they finally got her out of the ramp but not after hours & hours of phone calls from my husband while we were out of the country. And isn't this why we have AAA to protect our children when we are away!

The third strike occurred just this week when our vehicle wouldn't start in our driveway & we called AAA to have them tow it to our mechanic's place. We called them at 7:00 p.m. & they said they would be here by 11:00 p.m. They called at 10:30 p.m. & said they needed a different type of tow truck which was in the notes but they waited until then to figure this out. Then they called back at 10:45 p.m. & said they could get a tow truck from Duluth, MN (which is 150 miles away from the Twin Cities) to tow our vehicle 5 miles! Then didn't hear from them again until 8:30 a.m. the next morning when they said they could get a tow truck there in 4 hours!

At that point we said NO & contracted it ourselves & 1 hour later we had it at the repair shop using our own towing company. You bet we gave AAA the bill. Now let's see if they pay it! Their customer service is terrible & their service is unacceptable! Plus they apologized after the fact, what good is that! We would caution anyone thinking of becoming a member of AAA to read all these poor reviews! It is not worth being a member if they don't help you when you need it! For us, it is 3 strikes & AAA is out!

I then asked, "If I reinstate my membership would I get this use included on the membership so I wouldn’t have to pay the technician". The guy said yes and transferred me to the right person to take care of it. They gladly took my card info and charged seventy something. Moments later I received a payment email receipt. I then called back to see if there was a person coming to take care of my lock out situation - good thing I did because they found it had been CANCELED!!?

I didn’t even tell you what I had going on as well since I was with the company car and all. I’m a chauffeur just dropped off at John Wayne Airport, went to the restroom and found that I was locked out. My next pickup was 30 min away, and I had more than an hour from the first time I called. The second time I called, the service request went out another 25 min later and the clock started again, 30-40 min. When I finally got back on the road I knew I would be 15 minutes late. I’m NEVER late. In fact I’m always required to show up 20-15 minutes early. I should not have been late!!!

Forget my job details - When you call AAA roadside assistance and either forgot to pay the membership or want to reinstate, they’ll gladly take your money and leave you for dead, stranded wondering if someone’s coming to help you. Suffice to say I will be canceling and asking for a complete refund. If they don’t grant it I will go to my bank and ask for it. I want YOU all to know that I’m trying to help you, but you must fight! They take the risk that you won’t and most millennials will not. IF YOU FIGHT YOU WILL WIN!!!

You have rights. This is not how businesses should be making money. If your service leaves much more to be desired, companies deserve to lose customers and fail. I’m looking for other roadside assistance options. AAA has gotten so greedy and terrible with customer service. The last time I was in a situation like this: membership not current had two flats, they were on the ball, reinstated membership and service on the way 20-30 min ( they were quicker than that too!). Used to also get text updates immediately. AAA is on their way out.

My complaint is that there is a complete lack of customer service and ability (or desire) to make an attempt at being honest about the inability to provide service. I’ve been waiting 4 hours now for a call back (that was promised 2 hours from my first call). I feel that I’m told what I want to hear so agents can get off the phone as fast as possible, not that anyone has made an attempt to provide the services I’ve paid for.

This is now the 5th time in the last 6 months that AAA has told me they couldn’t provide service after wasting half of my day waiting for a phone call to move my pickup. It has not only cost me time waiting for them, but time away from work have been almost doubled waiting, then having to provide my own service. Not to mention $100’s in towing costs that should’ve been covered. When tow companies are slow, things are great. The problem is, when they are needed, AAA can’t provide the services they promise, and don’t try to make any attempt to provide them. Very frustrated. I made arrangements for the AAA RS assistance driver to meet me at the repair shop. I met him at 5 PM on Friday afternoon only to be told that AAA could not replace the battery because a dealer reset was required after the install. This detail was not mentioned either of the two service center phone calls I had earlier that day. The dealer’s mechanic stayed past closing time to install the battery and complete the reset. Not once was it mentioned that the maximum amount that AAA would reimburse was $125.

My battery light came on when I was driving on Saturday and instead of stopping on 95 I tried to get to my destination. Thankfully I made it because I would have spent 4 hours on the side of the road with my four-year-old son. I put in a service request through the app for a battery issue (11:18 am). About an hour later (12:30pm), a representative came out and told me it wasn’t the battery it was my alternator. This meant since he only does batteries another request had to be put in for a tow truck. The tow truck appears around 1:40 pm, and tells me it is the battery not the alternator. He doesn’t carry batteries and that I would need to put in another request. I asked if it was something else like a fan belt, because I heard a screeching sound when I was driving before the light came on. He looks under the hood and says fan belt is there that is not the issue.

Since the alternator is not the issue, I was told I could drive the car no problem and the alternator would charge the battery. After 2 different people telling me two different things are wrong with the car I really didn’t trust either of them or the people you hire to represent AAA roadside assistance. I joined AAA on Saturday, I am allotted 4 service calls in one year and had to use three not for someone to fix my car but just to tow it to New Jersey. The second tow truck got there around 3:10. He was nice and got the car quickly on the flatbed and it arrived at its destination sometime after 4pm. I had to pay another $140 for him to tow it to NJ because you are basic for the first week through AAA. At that point I didn’t care, I was just happy the whole saga was over.

Yesterday I got my car fixed. It was not the battery or the alternator. A fan belt had snapped and there was an issue with my air conditioning compressor. The mechanic said I wouldn’t have made it out of the driveway without a fan belt, let alone to a place to buy a battery. A battery that would not have fixed the issue. This was by far the worst experience I have ever had, I should have bypassed signing up for AAA and just called a tow truck. I would have saved myself the grief, the time and the additional money it cost to get a membership + towing my car. I thought AAA was the way to go to get a responsible, reliable opinion, I would never do it again and plan on telling everyone I know to look elsewhere for road assistance service.

It was a nice day, good weather, no reason for a high call volume or anything that would put a strain on AAA roadside service. I called at 3:05 pm and was told a service truck would be there in an hour. Great that get the vehicle up and running without messing up my obligations to pick up my daughter and her friend to practice. Called at 5:15 pm to see where the truck was, after being transferred twice I was told it would be there shortly. At 7:49 pm it still has not shown up and I have had to call my mother-in-law to help get the girls. My wife is now leaving work early to get the girls from practice. If they are not able to do the one job I signed them up for, be honest enough to tell me instead of leading the customer on. This has been an absolute horrible experience.

AAA is horrible. I called for service and was told I was not on the membership. Last year I was told my son was not on our premier membership so I paid for his membership. We paid for 2 memberships last year and now I am being told that I do not have access to either one. They tried to get me to pay for a third membership. The rep proceeded to tell me that Sprint paid for our membership and at that point I was dropped. So they were paid 2xs for the membership which expires at the end of next month. The moral of this story is to use the roadside assistance that is provided by your car insurance whenever possible because AAA is worthless and needs to go out of business NOW!

My husband got a flat tire and called AAA. He explained that he was on a busy 4 lane highway (highway 85 in Georgia), in a construction zone - and was unable to pull completely off the road - due to the construction. In addition it is pouring rain. He was told his wait would be 45 minutes. I told him to grab the umbrella from the trunk and wait away from the car, so if a speeding car, or semi truck hit our car - he would not be injured.

After standing in wet grass, with cold wet wind blowing on him for 47 minutes - he received a text stating it would be an additional 55 minutes. When no one arrived he called again and was told that due to high volume it would be another 20-30 minutes. As I type this complaint - it has been 3 hours and he is still waiting. AAA said they will send someone as soon as possible. That is not acceptable. Once he is safely home - I am calling to cancel and demand a refund. This company should be ashamed of itself. I know the Metro Atlanta area is busy - but tow trucks are a dime a dozen, and we are getting bumped down the list because we are not paying full price for the tow service. AAA needs to help their "members" not say "as soon as possible"... that's like sending thoughts and prayers... it doesnt help.

If I could give them just half a star or just a teaspoon of a star I would. Last year we canceled our roadside assistance with our insurance company because AAA seem to have been a better option, however to my surprise it has been a nightmare. On one of the coldest days our truck would not start and we were about 27 miles from home, AAA never sent a truck and said if they could they could only tow 10 miles as they were as they say instructed by the state of Illinois. I'm confused, is this a state agency? We had to find towing elsewhere. Not to mention the customer service. To be told they have 77 other callers on hold and they couldn't get to us was unnerving.

Today one of our trucks broke down, the back wheel came off, after being told we would have to wait 90 minutes but actually waited over 2 hours only to have the tow truck driver inform us that he could not help and that we needed to call AAA back to have them call a company that has the equipment to service us. Isn't this why AAA reps ask so many questions, to make sure they send the people? After calling back, the customer service rep said she couldn't find anyone and then we would have to wait for someone to call us back, and when she put us on hold it sounded like someone snoring in the background. The process of going through all the automated stuff when you call is also ridiculous. I'm disgusted with AAA.

This was the worst customer service experience. What makes it even worse, is this is a service that I pay for. I get AAA towing yearly the premier package and the last 3 times I have used it they all have been bad experiences. Today by far was the worse. I called for a tow at 6am, the message from AAA was there were extensive wait times so customers should use the app. I used the app as directed and put in the request was given an arrival time of 7:12am. At 7:20am I called to see if it was delayed and was told by the 1st rep (Peggy) that the company that took the order was having troubles because they only have 1 person working.

She went on to tell me his personal story that and he as up all night and needed rest so they had no idea when anyone else would come in to work. This sounded strange and unprofessional, so I asked to speak to supervisor. I was transferred to a man (Carrey) that said he was a supervisor and went on to tell me the same story. I asked, "Can any other tow company can be used to help..." He said yes and just sat quietly on the phone. I had to request he try another company while he kept telling me I could find my own and then just get reimbursed. I explained why would I do that if I pay AAA for the premier package every year to assist me ahead of time. He then told me the original request for roadside assistance that I put in at 6am actually never went through that it may have been a glitch. They didn’t know that it was sent out showing as taken but it really wasn’t. It was just sitting in “limbo”.

Again, the silence with no apology or solution, I had to keep asking what can be done, what will be done, how can I get help, etc? He kept telling me I could find my own tow company. I explained I don’t understand how their service works then? He then finally said he was going to look for another tow company, he left me on hold for a very long time. Came back. Said he called 6 companies and no one answered. Again the silence. I asked then to speak to his supervisor as he sounded like the 6 calls was the limit. He then told me he is not actually a supervisor after all as he first stated. When I spoke to the supervisor (Teresa) she was rude. She said there was a first company that took the job but really didn’t because it was actual just sitting there? Then she said they had already set up another tow company but couldn’t get through to them and they could not provide an expected arrival time. This was the first time I heard of a second company.

The supervisor also kept telling me I could just find my own tow. Then in a threatening way said the tow company (Grubes) could just cancel if they wanted to. This took over 1 hour (the call). 5 hours after the first call, the Tow company came and refused to drive in the alley. Their customer service was just as bad as AAA. As of this moment, my car is still stuck. I believe AAA towing sells false services, they then I believe sabotaged the actual work to be dozen with the tow company that was equally as unprofessional and rude. The worst experience and what makes it so bad is I pay for this service. I do not recommend AAA roadside towing to anyone and I am looking into other options for help. They false advertise and the customer service has declined horribly. AAA is NO help at all and as a customer I was treated like a bother to them.

I have been using their service for a while and been satisfied customer, however this time my experience was below than horrible. I renewed my membership last week and was charged 50$ fee to use the service same day (they changed their policy since before you was able to use a service without any grace periods and fees). I had a flat tire and I called to roadside assistance department, waited 20 min for operator, was promised to have someone in 1 hour but he was late for 15min. Nice guy but completely unprofessional. I have aftermarket wheels with a cap cover. He tried to take off a cap with screwdriver and thank God I noticed that in time to stop him, he scratched a cap a little bit but it barely noticed so no damage was done but what if I didn’t stopped him, rhetorical question. Then he said that he doesn’t have a driver to take off the wheel and that this wheel required a special key (no it doesn't!).

Anyway, he left without any help, instead I said to call for a towing service because I didn’t have a time to wait for someone else. He told me that he already scheduled a service and that AAA rep should call me in about 15 min to provide me with time estimates. After waiting for half an hour nobody called me back. So I had to call again, of course 20 min hold time. When I politely asked for towing, they said that another service provider will show up with correct set of drivers and they provided them with all details. So in 45 min another guy showed up and of course he didn’t get any instructions from AAA. The funniest thing that he didn’t have correct driver key (omg they doing that every day, with a different types of car and they doesn’t have 15.5mm driver key with a thinner socket, so dumb). Anyway, they kept telling me that I need a special key.

Anyway, I asked him to pump the tire as much as possible, it started to leak in about 5-7 minutes. I called my friend and he brought his pump and oh magic, it pumped the tire to 35 psi within 3 min. Later that day, I stopped by to AutoZone and bought a key 15.5mm and took a wheel off myself. I called to AAA resolution department demanding my money back. I asked for 50$ refund even though I was not willing to keep their membership at all, but I knew that it going to be a hassle to get a full amount, so I tried to get a fee back. Both representative were unhelpful and refused to give me a refund. One rep even called me a liar because she said I admitted that my car does require a special key, what a nonsense. Their supervisor refused to give me my money back based on “they did pumped your tire even though it didn’t help”.

I never faced with such a bad customer service in my life. They lost my business forever. Moreover another family members and close friends will stop using them after I told them what happened with me. So is it worth it for AAA to lose a business of several people because of 50$? No it’s not. So now I will schedule all towing services I can, so these people will pay much more than my membership cost lol. :) Anyway, I do not recommend this company to anyone, beware because they will rip you off!

They charged us wrongly immediately but refund over a month later at their discretion.

Unfortunately, I had to use their service for Jump-start and /or tow for diagnostics. They sent minivan instead. Then cancelled service call and I had start all over again for same service call while stranded. Tow truck arrived later and just jump-started battery and was trying leave, my car behaved erratically with engine signs and other service lights on so I asked to be towed, ** guy just refused. "You can call for service again," and left. This not only incur another service call that counts towards your limited calls per year. This is barbaric, abandoning & double dipping. Same ** guy named "Corey" (Fairfield CA) was racist, did not want to do his job and still be on payroll.

Called to discuss experience and manager in roadside assistance dept will not be helpful to mitigate this serious issue but take this information and handle it "internally" without sharing outcome details. Mind you, this shop is AAA owned in Fairfield and handling it internally will be covering things up. AAA flat out refused to refund entire membership very arrogantly "per policy regulation". I wish I would have seen their ratings /reviews which is filthy 1 solitary star by all AAA members who I empathize very closely on all reviews I read after the fact. I urge all members (new/ prospective/ existing alike) to be sensibly consider their decision to become a new member/ even continue their membership for rest of the duration left. The CS person put it on a priority list, sent out another guy who does not have a battery to fit my car. So I call for the 4th time, told them the issue, all the while being nice and patient. A manager Chris called back and said he will locate a battery and have someone come out at 8am next morning. So I waited, NOTHING - no call. No text.

So I call them and of course went off on the CS person because now I am totally PISSED at the horrible CS. She apologized and said someone will call me back. Now I can't go to work. So she says, "We will tow your car for free." I said, "Lady, I have premier, I GET THAT ANYWAY!!! Ok, but how is the car getting back to my house?" "Well you will have to drive it back." I told her, "NO, why must I be inconvenienced, I am the customer." She said, "Well that is all we can do." I told her to get her manager. She got back on the phone and said he - Lenox is on a conf call. Ok. It's been 45 mins, and still waiting. Will keep you guys posted on how this ended.

I have two life insurance policies with them, so my relationship with this company runs deep. I have attempted to move this 2004 Subaru Outback FOUR TIMES within the last few days. Each time the service tracker states about an hour wait time. Each time, the call FAR EXCEEDS one hour wait and I have to cancel and reschedule. Two scheduled events ago...the wait exceed 1 hour over the projected time, and when I called they said it could be an additional 1 to 3 hour wait!

I have an open call right now, arrival time was supposed to be 11:50 AM EST. It is 1:04 PM and it hasn't even been dispatched and there were roughly 14 calls in the queue when I made the service call earlier this morning. I was advised yesterday that I could contract with an independent tow service and AAA could reimburse me?

    1) Would love to have all kinds of spare money to pay someone else...but then why would I contract with AAA services??? And exactly WHEN would I get my money back??? 2) Where is the Customer Service??? Apparently the dispatcher wouldn't even respond to the CSR's inquiries as to the status of my service request. 3) What if I were stranded on the side of a highway? Each call, I had my young daughter waiting with me to have AAA pick up this car. If we were stranded in a remote area on the side of the road...how much confidence would I have now in AAA being the "family" that we don't have that I pay to come to our aide???

What on EARTH is happening to AAA? This is completely unacceptable. I am APPALLED and have never seen AAA behave this way. AAA CSRs are completely ambivalent and have a "too bad, nothing we can do about it" attitude. I’ve had many service calls for jumps and no one took that long for a simple jump start.

Today, not only does he take way too long to connect again, he starts offering all kinds of unnecessary services. I was so looking forward to having AAA but ending up being a huge waste of my time and money. Like many people, I signed up when I needed a tow. (I doubt many people actually sign up without needing their assistance.) Turns out you pay a $50 service fee for using them so soon. I guess I can understand that but the customer service was so miserably poor that I tried to cancel my membership altogether. They refused!

I knew I needed a tow in the morning so I called the night before to see what the best plan of action was. I was instructed to call with an hour and a half before I needed a tow. So I woke up at 5:30am set up everything and waited by my phone. 15 minutes later I got a call saying they were there! Normally that would be wonderful but I was at home and they informed me I would have enough of a heads up so that they were not waiting for me. I told them I could be there in 15 and then frantically got on the road as quick as I could. I pull in 17 minutes after the phone call and the tow truck is leaving without my car! No heads up, nothing! I called AAA as quick as I could and they told me it would be an additional $50 and use of their service to have the truck, that was 3 minutes away, turn around. So a total of $100 on top of their annual fee and 2 of my 3 uses for the year.

I told them not to send it back and ended up just paying the tow company $100 out of pocket. I called AAA back and tried to just cancel the membership altogether. I was told that they would cancel it but they refused a refund. I wish one of the 5 representatives I talked with would have taken even just a minute to hear me or show the slighted bit of sympathy. I tried so hard to do everything the way they asked, and was treated like an inconvenience. This was a terrible experience. I am so disappointed and I wish I would have never signed up in the first place. What should have been a simple tow ended up costing me $200 and I wasted so much time trying to coordinate with them and work out a solution. I have NEVER in my life left a poor review, in fact I usually go out of my way to leave good reviews but I just can’t believe how difficult they were to work with. Such poor customer service!

Immediately called AAA for help and was told they were sending a state trooper to make sure I was safe and in a good spot and a roadside assistance driver to put the spare on for me so I could at least make it to a shop. The state trooper pulled up not even 5 mins after the call and was really nice and kept checking in on me and the other cars around me who had also hit that same pothole I did.

An hour and a half goes by with no communication for AAA. I thought that maybe they were just busy and would be there any minute. I couldn't of been more wrong. The state trooper pulled up behind me once again and comes up to me and says “Triple A just called the barracks and told us they're no longer coming to help you. They're too busy.” Too busy? As a paying customer for roadside assistance, that's the last thing I want to be told. The state trooper was nice enough to call me a different towing truck for me while I called AAA.

I was told by AAA that they had “never recieved my call to the service center in the first place and a cancellation was not put in the system.” Absolutely ridiculous. I was then told by them that they would be happy to send someone to help but it would be another HOUR. Absolutely no way am I waiting another hour on a very busy part of the highway for AAA to finally get their ** together and come help. I don’t pay for this type of service and disrespect. Get it together AAA.

I had a flat tire on Monday 1/21/19 & called around 5pm to have tire changed. Rep took my information and gave me a number to call to check on progress of call. He also said I would received a text. I call about 10 minutes later and rep on phone said a tech was assigned and would be by 6:06. I called back at 6:15 and was told that they had no tech to take the call. They were handling people stranded on the road first, which is understandable, and they would have to call me back. I never received a text, and I wonder where the ETA came from if they had no one assigned to the call. I would not have been updated if I hadn't called. I waited an hour just to find out no one was on the way to help. By the time I found that out it was too late to call anyone else to changed my tire. A friend and a friend of his ended up coming out changing my tire. Had I know I would have to wait indefinitely I would have called someone else, but by the time I found out it was too late.

Called AAA on Monday Jan. 21 around 215 pm to request assistance with a dead battery. Lady said help will arrive within a couple hours. I say ok. Person from roadside assistance place calls ten minutes later and says it's gonna be more like 2.5-3 hours and they will come help jump my car. I asked if they had any tools to help test my battery and she said no. Asked if they had any batteries for purchase that they could put in for me and she said no. Ok then what good are you?? I cancelled the request, waited for my husband to get home, jumped the car myself, drove to the nearest auto parts place and had the worker dude replace my battery. Was back home within 30 minutes, no thanks to AAA.

I truly dont know what good it is having them because they are completely useless. Do not care about their customers. Luckily that particular day, I was stuck at home (car died in driveway) so I was thankful I didnt have to wait for hours along the roadside in the 15 degree weather. I can't believe a company specializing in roadside assistance would be so useless, especially to people that are potentially waiting in the cold. Like I said, luckily I wasnt. But what if I was?? AAA, how do you sleep at night knowing you're making people wait in the frigid temps?? I will not be referring AAA to anyone, in fact when our membership expires, I will be dropping them. I refuse to put my hard earned money into something that is not going to be useful in my life. See ya, AAA!

So when you actually need Triple A service you will spend over an hour on hold in freezing temps while they don’t answer. When your tow doesn’t ever show up three hours later as they said, and you call back, plan to be on hold over another hour before they answer AGAIN. When you ask what happened to your road assistance now they will tell you ‘there is no ETA, might be tomorrow, can’t say when”, and when you ask to speak to the manager on duty, they will hang up on you, forcing you to call back and be hold ANOTHER hour. Really. In the frigid zero degree weather, I kid you not.

Every time you wait on hold for an hour there will be a recording playing stating how much they want you to have a great experience. Good grief. We pay 300 dollars a year for our family for THIS? Our daughter needs service now, not some other unknown day and time. Will not renew this truly terrible service. If they can’t provide service when they KNOW full well people are going to be needing it (in the freezing cold) what is the point of them?

We Have been members since 1993. My husband was having car problems on his way home from work. SINCE he was in heavy traffic he decided to go ahead and drive home then call AAA. When he called they would not tow the car as it was driveable. We did not feel that it was safe to drive as the check engine light was on, the car was shaking and had a burning smell. This was very disappointing and frustrating as we have been members for years and do not need to use the service often. It is very clear that they do not care about their customers.

I tried talking to a supervisor and no one would help. Also asked for Corporate phone number and was advised that the call would come back to their Barks County location which it did. Found another phone number for AAA complaints which only takes you back to the Barks County Office. For years AAA was a household name. NOW they are a company that does not care about customer satisfaction. If they don't change their ways they will be left by the side of the road.

So we called AAA again to inquire as to the estimated time of arrival of the tow truck. We were then told it would be 2:50 p.m. I asked why we were told 12:45 p.m. The customer service rep told us it was just the computer time, and that they had to depend on the tow truck. This is not the first time we have been given a specific ETA only to have it pushed back several hours. We pay for the Gold service and get nothing. I ended up calling a local tow service and will send the bill to AAA. Don't waste your money.

Total of 11 tows in 4 years and they are canceling me because I have made excessive service demands but I'm allowed four tows and I've never made more than four. If they would have told me that I'm allowed 4 tows but if I use them I will be canceled I wouldn't be paying the extra money.

I am a plus member which cost extra money and gives me two extra tows but obviously it just cost me extra money and I don't get the extra tows. Oh and let me add that I have six vehicles and a house insured through AAA but they don't want to cancel my insurance policy just my roadside. And you think that they should know that if I got six vehicles that I'm going to have tows and every single tow on the log report is a different vehicle. And another thing I don't understand is when I have AAA auto insurance in order to have the auto insurance I have to have the roadside assistance. That's not an option.

When the technician came to the house he said the battery was bad and needed to be replaced. It has happened again. They told me it is not the battery but they will replace it this one last time. I have a new alternator and the vehicle was checked by the mechanic to see if there was a drain or if anything else was wrong with the vehicle. Nothing was wrong. The test showed the battery was bad this time but they yelled at me and told me it's not the battery's fault. They told me I have to take it to the mechanic again and have the vehicle look at even though it was done about two weeks ago. They said if I pay for another test which is about $95 they might replace the battery again if something happens. It has a 3-year warranty. Why are they yelling at me because the batteries are going bad?

AAA. My wife signed us up for a membership with AAA. Our van had lately been acting up, and with several trips to the mechanic, we had as yet not resolved the issues. Just in case of a real disaster, she felt that a little extra insurance would be helpful. Sure enough, the night of December 17th, after taking my son to his mother’s house, misfortune struck. It was a cool Sunday, and I had to drive my son to his mum who lives in Fort Lee from my current wife and my Home in Brooklyn. At 4 in the afternoon the predicted rain began slushy with big flakes of snow mixed in. Roads became wet and flooded quickly. Puddles accumulated and crossed the entire breadth of the street. Traffic was slow.

Uneventfully we drove to Ft Lee and I dropped him off at his mum’s building door. I then turned and began the drive home. I turned off the George Washington Bridge, went down the ramp to join the Henry Hudson, and continued south toward lower Manhattan. I expected to eventually turn onto Canal street and cross to the Manhattan bridge, going back over to Brooklyn and home. I didn’t make it. Driving down the Henry Hudson, it was wet. There were huge puddles. Cars, and including my van, were slogging through deep bodies of water forming from the heavy downpour, and spraying up sheets of water, undoubtedly soaking the underside of the car as well as everywhere else. We were imbibed in a soaking, and I, as well as other drivers around me were also fighting the fogging up of the interior window surfaces. I had all the defrost and heat on full. The engine began to splutter.

By the time I reached Chelsea Piers. I had avoided stalling by shifting into neutral and revving the engine while coasting along the road in traffic. This worked till I had to stop at a traffic light. I had chosen to travel in the outside lane because I was afraid the the car might stall, and I may be stranded. This finally happened when I stopped at the traffic light at Chelsea Pier. The car shut off, and all efforts to restart failed. I sat. Thru green and red, trying again to restart. It was dark now, 9pm and I had my flashers on. Cars that got stuck behind me honked. My cellphone battery was low, but I made the call to AAA, thinking that in about half an hour I would be towed away from this scary precarious position on this 6 lane road where the speed limit is 35 mph, but cars were passing me when the light was green at easily 50 or 60 mph. One of them clipped my mirror.

The call was connected, and I went through the automatic menu, and then was put on hold. On hold I remained for 30 minutes. My cell battery ever lowering.

A Womyn chauffeur driver in a large black suburban called thru the window to me. “Put on your interior lights so you are more visible.” ‘Good idea, thanks. I said’, and I did. “And call 911” she said. “They will come and tow you”. I hung up from AAA and called 911. An operator answered immediately. “What’s the nature of your emergency?” She asked. I explained the circumstances, and that I was afraid I was a road hazard and that I was in fear of being rear ended. “Thank you for your call, I’ll send someone over to you” she said.

We hung up, and I called my wife and asked her to go online and make an online service request to AAA, which she did while I again tried to contact AAA on my cell phone (I did also try to use to app to create my own service request, but the app did not work on my phone, an Iphone 6 - perhaps not one of the best of cellphones, I know, but it’s the phone I have never-the-less. It makes and receives calls adequately.)

Again I called AAA. Again I was stuck in a menu on hold for 30 minutes without speaking to a person. A police car pulled up behind me and 3 police got out. At the next red light when all the traffic was stopped, they positioned themselves in front of the stopped traffic to ensure no one would move if the light turned green, and the third police in his squad car bumper pushed my van a left turn across traffic into 18th street where I glided into a parking space and felt safe now that I was out of traffic. Thanks so much NYPD!

My wife called and told me she had initiated an online service request to AAA and a tow truck was scheduled to arrive at my location 11pm. In an hour. It was cold, so I wrapped myself in a sleeping bag I had in the van, as we occasionally use the van for camping, and waited. Just before 11pm a text came thru to my phone informing me that the tow truck eta was now delayed to midnight. So I settled in and waited again.

At midnight, a large flatbed tow truck showed up and pulled in in front of my van, in position to hoist me aboard. Getting out I met with a friendly burly young man who asked to see my AAA card. I showed him the scan of the card I keep in my phone in lieu of the physical plastic clutter that clogs my wallet. This was sufficient, but he noted that my name on my card was not the same name as appeared on the service request. I replied that the service request had been initiated by my wife, who had computer access as the AAA app was not working in my phone. That I was the primary account holder, and we both had membership. He called his boss. After a brief phone conversation, the young man informed me that the name on the card had to match the name in the service request and that he was unable to help me. With that, he got back in his truck and drove away. He just left me there stranded with no help at all.

I called my wife, who had been asleep, and she initiated another service request. ETA; 2 am. It occurred to me, that my van had now been sitting for several hours. If the wet had stalled it, maybe now it was dry? Even though the battery was a little low from my previous restart attempts, I tried again, and luckily, the van started! I was able to drive home. So much for AAA.

But there’s more! Friday January 11, I drove my VW Beetle, a car I bought new, and have maintained properly according to schedule and more, with a fuel efficient reliable Diesel engine. A car that has never failed me, is comfortable, compact, fast - will make speed up past 125mph with rpm’s left to go, and I’ve maintained her in perfect mechanical condition so she runs like a charm. A car I’ve never had a problem with.

My wife, son and I drove from Brooklyn to Hanover New Hampshire to visit my sister. We made quick time in the highway arriving 4 hours after leaving NYC, with a half hour rest stop on the way. NH is cold this time of year, and overnight the temp dropped to -11 degrees F. The next morning when I tried to start the car, the battery was too cold and couldn’t crank the engine. Time for a new battery I thought, and my wife called AAA asking for a jump start. Again, a hold of 30 minutes. Eventually an operator came on and took our information and assured us a service vehicle would arrive within the hour. And eventually one did. A medium sized flatbed tow vehicle.

The operator got out and applied a Jump Start battery boost to my battery, and I turned the key. The car barely cranked. The boost box was drained. The mechanic said “Ok, well that’s it, that’s all I can do”. I was surprised. ‘Do you have any jumper cables?’ I asked. ‘No’ he said ‘We don’t jump off the vehicles, we have too many electrical devices connected.’ Again I was confused. ‘But we called AAA, you are supposed to help us’ I said. ‘Nothing I can do‘ he replied. Then I made my case, politely and calmly about us having an AAA membership and that we expect service. "This is only a flat battery" I reminded, it’s not difficult to correct. I explained how if we used jumper cables, there would be the power of his v8 engine producing electrical charge, which would be more than the jump start box battery, and this would undoubtedly be enough to turn my engine and start it. He had no jumper cables.

Earlier, the proprietor of the hotel we were staying in had offered his. The Mechanic argued; “Your diesel fuel has jelled with the cold, it won’t start till it warms up, and your starter is going to need replacing.” He continued “This truck is a $120,000 vehicle” he bragged. “You will be responsible for any damage that occurs!” I Having run diesel tugboats for much of my Merchant marine career. I’m familiar with Diesel engines and fuel. “In these northern climates, fuel companies mix a additive to prevent jelling of diesel fuel, it can’t be the problem" I replied. “And my car is in perfect mechanical condition. It’s not the starter.” He argued awhile longer, but eventually conceded to let me try.

I connected the borrowed cables to my car while the mechanic popped the hood on his truck. I was astonished. The terminals on his battery were caked with many years of corrosion. I asked him for a wire brush. He denied having one. I tried scraping with the blade of my jackknife. There was so much corrosion, I would need an electric wire wheel to get it off. I tried to make a connection. I asked my wife and son to push the jumper cables on to the battery terminals. They both were skeptical and afraid of getting a shock, and so didn’t push hard enough. The mechanic sat in his truck. When I asked him to increase the rpm’s so the engine would output more current, he angrily responded by high revving the engine, frightening my wife and son, who were trying to help me by holding the cables on to the battery.

There was no way. The current could simply not get thru to my starter, my engine could not turn over. “That’s all I can do” said the mechanic. I was left stunned. He packed up his truck and drove away, leaving us stranded, not even offering a tow to a shop where I could get a new battery. My wife initiated another online service request. I called AAA, and after a wait, a rep answered. I explained the situation and described the mechanics behavior. She apologized and assured me another proper mechanic, with tools and equipment would be dispatched immediately. We waited. After another hour, I went into the hotel bathroom behind the front desk for a quick pit stop. Emerging a couple minutes later, I was just in time to arrive at my car to find the second mechanic packing up to leave. He had tried his portable jump start battery, and it had drained immediately, same as the last mechanics.

This mechanic was visibly agitated, and belligerent; “Your fuel has jelled” he yelled. “Good luck buddy, there’s no way this car gonna start”. He continued to shout angrily about other mechanical maladies undoubtedly plaguing my car. He continued angrily with a tirade about how I didn’t know what I was talking about, didn’t know what I was doing, and “Good Luck Buddy” he shouted. I unperturbedly asked if he had any jumper cables? His snort and visible rage were almost comical. Taking his yell up another level, he replied with a bragging tirade same as the last mechanic about how his truck was a $120,000 vehicle, and he ‘don’t jump from the vehicle’. We explained we are AAA members. My wife asked for a tow to a shop where we could get a new battery. “No” was his reply. He got in his truck and spun the wheels as he angrily roared off. So there we were. Left stranded by the service vehicles sent by our AAA membership.

We stood, out in the cold morning air contemplating what to do next. I got on the phone to AAA again. I waited. A service rep eventually answered, and I began explaining what had happened. Just then, a middle aged womyn in a newer Subaru pulled up. She asked me if we were all right? I told the AAA service rep I would call back because a private citizen had offered to help us. I explained to the womyn what had happened. She offered to help, and popped open her hood. Her Subaru engine compartment was perfect. Clean and new. Her battery was prominent, with clean terminals easily accessible.

I connected the borrowed jumper cables to it, my wife got into the drivers seat of the beetle, and I connected the cables to our battery, pushing on them to ensure a good connection (the battery position in the beetle engine compartment is clean and neat, but a little awkward, as the engine compartment is compact due to the body styling. Once I’d ensured the connection was good, my wife turned the key and the beetle engine roared to life. All it needed was a competent person to ensure things were done properly. I drove to a Walmart and replaced the battery with a new one, and everything is now fine. No jelled fuel. No new starter. I know what I’m talking about, and doing. I’m polite and calm in the face of angry challenges, and grateful for successful assistance My wife and son both are witnesses. I don’t recommend AAA auto club.

On 1.13.19 I put in a call for Roadside Assistance. My dispatcher's name was "Jen". This request was put in via phone call at about 12:15 pm or so. I received my first confirmation text at 12:28 pm. Long story short, although I called AAA at least 8 or more times, after being given story after story as to why nobody had come to tow the car, during my last call, I was EXTREMELY upset, and rightly so. I pay for AAA Premier service and have been a AAA member since 2000, and can count on 1 hand how many times I have actually used the service, and now that I need it, it's not available to me. How does this happen? I'm not gonna ask that question again because I made sure that I canceled my membership with AAA and today I got a new service.

This should NEVER happen! If you advertise a service and people pay for it, they should not be left waiting almost over 4 hours in the cold to receive service, and also be left waiting without AAA reaching out. As I mentioned above, I had to call AAA over 8 times to find out why I was still out in the cold! Not to mention being told at one point by "Jen" that help was on the way at 1:57 pm with no one showing up and then again told by "Jen" that a truck would come within 1/2 hour, yup you guessed it, no show. Then upon the last call (which she actually called while I was on hold speaking to a rep at AAA) to tell me it would be another 20 minutes. I was beyond "done"! POOR SERVICE and I don't care if there were a million calls that day, it's not the consumer's problem. Offer a service, and deliver!

The first dispatcher went through her whole (apparently short) list of providers and couldn't get anyone. She had to kick our call to a supervisor who could call a non-contracted tow company. Clearly AAA has lost a lot of contracted tow companies. We have many in town, but apparently it no longer pays to work for AAA. Beyond the bad business practices that have left them short of contractors, their supervisors don't even call to inform customers of ETAs. The deterioration in the last year or two has been stunning. I was driving a rental car in San Ramon, California, during heavy rain, and hit a pothole on the side of the road, which blew out the front right tire. I called AAA roadside assistance and help arrived within about half an hour. The technician and I realized that in fact there were two tires blown out, and it would be necessary to get a tow (only one spare tire). The technician helpfully called AAA dispatch, and told me a tow truck was on the way.

Some time later, I got a call from AAA dispatch to confirm the address to tow the car - Oakland airport since that is where the a rental car service center is located. Some time later, I got another call from AAA dispatch telling e that it would take some time since it is an "out of area" tow. Some time later, I got another call from AAA dispatch saying the driver was on the way. When the tow truck driver arrived, and as he was loading the car on to the flatbed, he asked if I had been told that there would be an extra charge since it was a tow greater than five miles, and since the extra was 20 miles, I would have to pay $240. Of course, I said no one had told me (despite four calls with AAA dispatch), and that I didn't think it was fair and I didn't want to pay. Frankly, if I had know this earlier, I could have arranged something that would not have cost me so much.

I ended up speaking with a customer service rep who was very rude and unhelpful. I asked for a supervisor, who told me she would try and work it out and call me back. She did call me back in about 20 minutes, and said she was still working on it. After another half an hour - nothing. I called the customer supervisor back and got a voicemail message - I suspect she put my number to be blocked because she did not want to talk with me. Eventually, after four hours, I couldn't wait any longer, and I told the driver I would pay the $240, and sort it out later. When I presented my credit card, he told me he did not have the ability to take a credit card, as his reader (Square) was not working. However, he called one of his colleagues who turned up about 20 minutes later and I paid the money.

    CONCLUSION:
    - terrible customer service, rude, unhelpful.
    - a ripoff.

    - bait and switch - despite several opportunities to tell me of the extra charges, no one did until it was basically too late.

    RECOMMENDATIONS:
    - do not use AAA for anything except simple roadside service.

    - If you need something more, cancel your AAA membership, and tell all your friends. It is NOT WORTH THE HASSLE

I am 74, live in Orlando, Florida, a 14 years gold card member of AAA, writing to you but not knowing what to expect, yet hoping that you will take disciplinary action against these AAA managers who coldly refused to provide roadside service to me during a rainy cold night when my car went off the road into a roadside water drainage area.

The details of the incident are as follows: Date and Time: Thursday, Dec 20, 2018 at about 6:15 PM. Location: 18359 East Colonial Drive at Florida CR 13 -- about 50 yards from this intersection on East Colonial toward east on the north side of the road. After the initial call to AAA requesting help, I waited for more than an hour till a tow truck showed up; but the person quickly refused to service giving reason that his truck is not equipped to handle the situation since it needed a flatbed truck. Then he talked with AAA agent and left.

The AAA agent then instructed me to wait as she was working to get a flatbed truck out there for service. About 25 minutes later, she told me that a truck is on the way and asked me to wait. After waiting for more than 30 minutes, when nothing happened, I called back and spoke with another agent, John. He totally surprised me by saying that the last tow truck person returned because the car is in the water, and AAA cannot provide service. What a surprise it was that here I was waiting for a flatbed tow truck to arrive as per the last agent, and now was being told by John that AAA will not provide service because they were told that my car was in the water. So I spoke with his supervisor Dina but her response was the same, giving the same excuse.

After her refusal to service, I spoke with her manager, Keith. But he too refused on the ground that car is in the water as reported by the last tow truck person. But I told Keith repeatedly that car is not in the water. It is sitting outside the water and explained that all wheels are out of the water. It is nearby but not in the water. I told him, over and over, that I can send a photograph as a proof.

In desperation I approached his manager, Kenny, with a tremendous hope that he may understand the critical situation in am in -- that for last three hours I have been in the cold and rainy weather -- and desperately seeking his executive help. But he turned out to be even much hardhearted person than Keith, using the same excuse to not provide the service. I even told both of these managers that charge me extra whatever it is but please, please, I beg you, please, just provide the service. Oh! I kept insisting that I can send them a picture showing that the car is not in the water but outside; but their pride and ego, power and authority, their utterly insensitive arrogance could not bend before a truly desperate human need.

For over three long hours, in utterly cold rainy evening, here I was, a 74 old, repeatedly begging before these gentlemen for help – requesting to send a flatbed truck-- but my pleas for their mercy could not be heard by their cold heart – ESPECIALLY DURING CHRISTMAS TIME WHEN MERCY AND KINDNESS, THE LOVE OF GOD, FLOWS IN THE AIR EVERYWHERE.

The next day I got a flatbed-truck on my own and got my car towed to a place of service. To save the joy of the holiday season and not let this incident destroy its emotional pleasantry, I held back reporting the incident to you till now. Sir! This is not the AAA we hear of. This was the most unbelievable torturous treatment by these managers.

When I open AAA web page, it says I am a ‘Loyal AAA Member Since 2004’. Really! What good is that? If AAA cannot be there in emergency, then of what good is their membership? Please look at the record, how often I have requested service from AAA during these last 14 years of Gold membership? Not much. And when I really needed help, AAA REFUSED, hiding behind some excuse that was not even valid.

As I said in the beginning, I do not know what to expect but I do hope that AAA does take a disciplinary action especially against these managers who are in the upper level of management, Keith and Kenny, to make them aware that being human and operating with care and compassion, kindness and mercy, is more important than being a manager with power and authority, dealing with rules in arrogance and applying them with cruelty and cold-hardheartedness – especially in a service providing industry and company like AAA. Thanks for listening!

If you are disabled (senior or not), do NOT purchase a battery from AAA. A few days before Thanksgiving 2018, I called Triple A to unlock my door because I inadvertently tucked my keys in my coat pocket, which was still in the car. (Warm day here in Colorado Springs.) Although the wait was quite long, when their serviceman did show up, he was an absolute sweetheart. However, once he left and I attempted to start my car, I learned the battery had died. I purchased this battery from Triple A in 2016, so it is still under warranty. Anyway, I had to call them again and was praying that the same serviceman was close enough to help me again. He wasn't, so there was another long wait.

In the meantime, I had a hero in the form of the security officer at Natural Grocers, where I shopped. He worked EXTRA HARD in the now cold, freezing night air to give me a jump, working at it for nearly an hour, while we waited for Triple A. They did call a couple of times to give me an ETA. However, the last rep - a female dispatcher - morphed into a hostile little beastie when I dared to inquire about a possible battery replacement, declaring that since I don't drive it enough, the warranty will not be valid.

EXCUSE ME? So now I'm being threatened with the possibility of having to pay for a NEW battery BECAUSE I'M DISABLED and don't drive enough? Never mind the FACT I have not only AAA, but also their auto and renter's insurances. Good paying customer be... Well, you know! AND, I learned that my "elder" cousin in Maryland has just experienced the same, regarding a replacement battery. (I'm 65; she is 76 and in poor health, too.) So the "hostile little beastie metamorphosis" I experienced is not an isolated case of bad, really bad, customer service. Even fraud, maybe? By the way, AAA didn't need to send assistance because my hero, the security guard, got my car started and I canceled the ticket.

I purchased a AAA battery on 3/11/18. I have had to have them come out and charge it at least three times before my membership expired on 11/30/2018. I was told that this battery has a six year warranty, including replacement the first three years. They refuse to service or replace their lemon battery and unless I renew my membership or pay $75 for a service call. I have since had the battery as well as my starter, alternator and electrical system tested by two different mechanics (one of which was a “AAA Authorized Auto Repair” service station) and both informed me in writing that the only thing wrong with my vehicle was a bad battery, which should be replaced ASAP.

AAA finally came out and tested that battery, agreed that my battery, which is less than 10 months old should be replaced soon, but they won’t do it because I don’t put enough mileage on my vehicle (I telecommute from home but drive my vehicle it at least 3 times per week, which according to both my mechanics should be enough to keep the battery in good shape). As for their roadside service, I have been told that I can’t make an appointment for a service call and I should call no earlier than 1 hour prior to the time that I have to leave. However, I’ve missed several important appointments because my lemon battery wouldn’t start my engine, and it takes AAA anywhere from 90 minutes to 4 hours to arrive and charge their lemon!

2 months ago I called AAA. My trucks brakes went and I wanted to get it towed home so I could fix it. I was told someone would be there within an hour to help since I had my wife and 3 young children in the car. After an hour I called my family and they ran up to pick me and the wife and kids up and take us home leaving the car on the side of the road. After getting home I gathers tools and a jack and drove back to my car a 45-minute drive each time. I fixed my brakes and drove the car home. After being home for over another hour AAA called to inform me they would not be able to help me. All in all it was 4 hours before they told me they couldn’t help. I was 45 minutes from home thank God for family otherwise I would of been stranded.

Fast forward to today January 3rd 2019 I called AAA at 2040 and was told someone would arrive by 1939. At 2100 I called and spoke to them again and they said they would look into it and call me back. After 30 minutes I called them and they informed me that a driver had been dispatched. It’s currently 2231 still no truck. I have been on hold with the AAA customer service now for 22 minutes and haven’t spoke to a single person. I’m done. Yet when he tries to use it this year he is told he will be charged $65 to unlock his car if he doesn't have his photo ID on him. Which he is only 19, a child who obviously locks car doors and loses things. Now the company they work with was more than willing to work with us but triple A on the other hand to whom I pay a yearly fee for service is awful. I would never in any lifetime recommend them. (The first time we have ever had to use the service and they said they do not offer that service in Rochester. How do they not service a city of 215,00+ people? So it doesn't bode well that they would offer this or other services in the rural area that I live.

How can they advertise this service and then when you go to use it - they say they don't offer it? The more research I did, this is very typical of AAA. We canceled our membership and my husband had to make numerous phone calls for them to pro-rate our membership fees. (Which they finally did.). I would tell everyone not to sign up with AAA. After waiting all morning for roadside assistance, they determined I needed a tow truck (surprise). Now, I have to initiate a new, separate ticket in order to get a tow truck dispatched. I've wasted an entire day waiting for AAA! If they had LISTENED to my initial complaint (the sidewall is blown and won't hold air), I MIGHT have been able to get a tow truck out here earlier. I made sure that I do not have to change my Driver's license and registration to NC before signing up for auto insurance. Now they are saying that I have to before certain date.

Another thing is that, she told me that I can change the insurance company at any time if I wanted to without a penalty. Now they are saying, there is a short rate penalty. By the way, I wasn't even told about the extra fee that I had to pay every month if billing is generated in mail. So I'm here stuck with AAA. I'm not going to be changing my Driver's info. I assumed a 40 minute to hour wait at best and was told as such. After an hour (it became cold and damp out) I received a phone call from customer service apologizing and assuring me it would not be much longer. Then almost another goes by and I receive another call. At this point I am livid and insist I want service now. I sarcastically ask if I am supposed to wait another hour. The rep asks if I am in danger of freezing, etc. Luckily no.

Finally a rep comes, decide to buy a new battery. I ask why it took so long and told he is the only battery truck covering my vicinity, stretching at least another 8-10 mile radius. I am located in a suburb according to he (and my insurance agent, who I emailed about alternatives to AAA the following business day,) that is an "outer area". Ridiculous considering the growth the last 10-15 years. My family and I have been members going back perhaps 50 years and if this is the treatment you're giving me, I am going to look into other alternatives. I then found out that my tow was going to be 10 miles (5 miles is covered by the basic) so I thought that I would just upgrade to the next plan and not waste $30 I was going to give the tow company for the extra mileage. I called AAA and it would be $84 for me to be able to go to the next plan (3 people were on the plan and I would have to upgrade all 3). I didn't have a problem with that but it would take 72 hours for it to take effect.

So if you call and add someone to a AAA account and it will take effect immediately but if I upgrade to the next plan it will take 72 hours. This still infuriates me to no end. It all boils down to AAA does not want you to buy the basic plan and then upgrade if you need it. They want your money up front. Then the AAA representative asked me if I did not see the value in the savings. I told them most definitely I did see the added value but I also couldn't see how AAA could add someone to a plan in less than an hour but they couldn't change a plan in the same amount of time. I would think it would be pretty easy, there are only 3 plans and they didn't have to take any personal information and add it to the account.

All the while my daughter was yelling for them to stop. They of course couldn't start it so they towed it to the house. Her vehicle was totaled because the intake was full of water. She called AAA to put in a claim because the damage was from the towing company trying to start it after being in so much water.

The AAA claims man, Mark ** was very nasty to her. I called AAA and reported him and the incident, they sent me to Jody ** the member relations manager. She told me that the garage said because there was no water in the oil that the engine wasn't damaged because of them trying to start it. I called the garage to find out what was going on and they let me know the only thing they did was take a picture of the oil stick that AAA requested.

After the insurance company totals a car they can't touch it and that the insurance company totaled it because of the water in the intake. I have been trying to call Jody for almost 2 weeks, left multiple messages for her to call me back, to let her know. I am still waiting. I don't understand how they can ruin a vehicle and not take responsibility. I feel they should have to fix/replace the engine. VERY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE ON THE UPPER LEVELS OF AAA.

Not knowing that the problem was caused by AAA I went to the dealership and the diagnostic cost me $130. I called AAA again and a different Tech was able to fix the problem. He admitted to me that the original AAA tech was negligent and had done a poor job. I submitted a refund claim for the diagnostic amount and it was rejected. By the way, in 9 years of AAA membership, me and my wife had never submitted any claims.

They don't disclose that when you are applying for membership, but expect you to know the policy that they have internally. While having my BMW towed by Lucky's Towing of Holly Hill, FL, the tow truck driver attempted to slide my car across the deck of the tow bed and inadvertently put 3 dents in the driver's side quarter panels in doing so. Had I noticed it before I picked it up from the dealership, I would have complained it right away. Neither AAA or Lucky's Towing did anything to reedy the situation and I now have $1000 worth of body work to be done to my BMW. Shop around for a better towing service! One more thing, AAA contractors, quote; "don't like doing AAA tows, because they don't pay as much" un-quote.

I have been having issues with my 2006 Sprinter based RV. The RV was in a “limp” mode and would not go over 20 miles per hour. I needed to get the van to the dealer for service. I have been a AAA member since 1987 and have a Premium RV membership. I have been very happy with the services I have received until today. I have recommended AAA to many people and purchased gift memberships for others. That also changed today. Today, November 6th I called the roadside assistance number for South Carolina. After describing the van based RV size, a tow truck was dispatched. When the driver arrived, he claimed his truck was too small and that I needed to call AAA to resolve the issue.

I called AAA back. After being on hold a person answered the phone, and put me on hold to look up my case. The line then went dead. I called back again with the exact same result. The 4th time I called, I asked to speak to a supervisor to explain the issue. After the explanation, the supervisor refused to help me. Even though I paid extra for the Premium RV membership she refused to help me. The supervisor (Tammy) was EXTREMELY rude and dismissive. No options were given. No clear explanation of why I was denied service which I had paid for. This is not the way I have been treated in the past.

On October 26, 2018 at approximately 2:30 pm, we placed a call for roadside assistance. At approximately 3:05 pm a technician, Dominic, responded to our call. After having difficulty testing the battery (while he is a very nice young man, Dominic did not seem to know what he was doing), Dominic decided that our battery was bad and that we needed to put in a new one. Dominic proceeded to replace the battery which again, was a process. He claimed that our cable had a big build up on it that he had to knock off in order to get the new battery on. This was not true. Once that new battery was on (this process took approximately 20 minutes) he had us attempt to start the car.

We knew immediately that something was wrong, but he had us attempt it a few more times. That is when Dominic called in back up. We unfortunately did not get the name of the additional gentleman that came out. While they were under the hood trying to figure out what was wrong, the new gentleman pointed out that Dominic had the battery in backwards. In other words, he had hooked the negative cable to the positive terminal and the positive cable to the negative terminal. This can have lasting damaging effects on the vehicle.

After being alerted to this problem, Dominic attempted to put the battery in correctly to no avail. The car was damaged and would not start. This was a direct result of the actions of a AAA employee. Dominic was a stand-up guy and he admitted his mistake and that it was the reason that after the battery replacement the car still would not start. It should be noted that while he was testing the battery and had it hooked up to additional power, the car started just fine. It was now 5pm on a Friday. We were stranded 50 miles from home and were on our way out of town for a wedding. Dominic proceeded to call his manager to try to get a tow home at the cost of AAA as well as a rental car so that we could keep our trip to the wedding. AAA declined to pay for any of this stating that we could make a claim for reimbursement when we got home.

We called and made a claim immediately while we were still at the car that afternoon. Since it was after 5pm on a Friday, we had to scramble to get a rental car to continue our trip as well as wait another couple of hours for a new truck to come and tow the car home. At this point, our total out of pocket was approximately $775 ($150 for the battery that was fried, $440 for the tow back home, and $180 for the cost of the rental so we could continue our trip). On Monday, we had the car towed to our mechanic. As of Tuesday he confirmed that our entire fuse box was fried as well as the alternator. He also indicated that the battery that Dominic put in our vehicle was not the right battery for our vehicle in the first place. He could not give us more information until the alternator and fuse box were replaced so his computer could talk to the vehicles computer.

At this point, the car is sitting at nearly $2,000 and we are not sure that these are the only problems that this mistake has caused. We have made numerous attempts to reach someone since Monday, October 29th but it seems AAA refuses to even call us back to take care of this. We consider this a clear cut negligence claim. We are moving forward with the repairs to the car and we do anticipate additional charges. AAA's refusal to even engage will ultimately lead to a much bigger bill as we will seek reimbursement of legal fees if we are forced to engage our attorney who is on standby and has indicated that we do indeed have a case for negligence.

They installed new brakes and the day I collected the vehicle, as I was driving it away from AAA Lawrenceville, I could hear this horrendous grinding noise that sounded like rocks rubbing. I called and someone named Juan told me not to worry, the parts just need a few days to settle in. Like an idiot, I believed him! But took it back after 2-3 days. They managed to get the grinding noise to stop, but soon thereafter they began squeaking, same routine.

This happened repeatedly with regular trips back trying to get them to fix them properly once and for all. THEN, the last time the manager told me, "Everything is fine. Don't worry." I invited him to ride with me and hear the loud squeaking when I apply the brakes. He smirked smugly and told me he didn't need to hear it. His mechanic told him the brakes were fine! When I asked "really? are brakes supposed to make that horrible noise? Because I feel they shouldn't." He just smirked and said after so long they can't be responsible anymore!

I pointed out this problem started the day they made the repairs, but he just stood there staring at me, then said no, he was not going to fix the brakes. And don't get me started on the thousands I wasted on new struts at this place: They used parts of such poor quality that only a couple of years later they need to be replaced again (this after the originals lasted 160,000 miles). We have been members of AAA for years, on and off. We recently signed up again when we received temporary membership cards in the mail. We paid $87 for one year of coverage for myself and my son. A week after we sent our membership in, along with our credit card number, we actually needed their tow service, so we were extremely grateful that we had signed up!

Alas, our happiness was short lived. We called and explained the situation, and asked to be towed. The incompetent representative first told us that temporary cards were not valid. "Then why send them," I asked? She replied that it was more of a marketing technique. I then told her we had paid for a full membership and were just waiting on the permanent cards to come in. She then did us the "courtesy" of actually looking up our account, and found us in the system.

We thought wonderful, now we can get towed. No, not the case. She explained that since the membership charge had only gone through yesterday, we would not be able to be helped until the charge had gone through for a full 48 hours. Apparently even though everything had gone through, and the charge had cleared, it hadn't cleared for LONG enough?? It did not make sense in any way. We buy things with credit cards all the time and are able to walk out with our products without waiting for 48 hours.

So I asked the "helpful" representative if we were perhaps supposed to camp out with the car until the other 24 hours had elapsed. She said that we could still get a tow, but we would have to pay a $75 non-refundable fee to AAA. I said, "Well could the fee maybe be used as a credit towards a membership next year, if it's not refundable?" No. No, it could not.

At this point I was totally fed up and informed the representative that we would be getting a full refund on the AAA membership and would be looking elsewhere for roadside assistance. I have never had trouble with AAA in the past years I have utilized the service, and could not be more disappointed with them. My advice is go anywhere else, anywhere, besides AAA roadside "nonservice".

The tow guys always have to call for an actual flatbed once they arrive; they always tell me that AAA sends out for what is least expensive to them, regardless of what the customer requests. Likely, it is because they know human nature often will just let it go due to necessity, time constraints, and frustration. This was because Hurricane Florence had just been upgraded to a Category 4 and was to make a direct hit on Myrtle Beach. After packing up our Land Cruiser with all these items and our two bulldogs I headed south with the idea of going to Stuart, Florida to join my husband. I had made it to Savannah, Georgia by about 5 pm where the Land Cruiser started smoking and overheating. I pulled off to the emergency lane of Interstate 95 and called my husband. He calmed me down and told me to call AAA. I did at 5 pm and the agent stated that they would have someone to me in 1 hr 45 min and they sent me a confirmation text message.

After waiting the allotted time and no help from AAA, I called my husband and asked him to call again. It was impossible for me to call and have a conversation since it was 90 degrees, the traffic was very heavy, I was unable to run the truck and my bulldogs were panting heavily from overheating. He did call them to let them know that I was alone on this extremely busy highway and they told him a wrecker was in route and would be there in 7 minutes. After that time passed, he called 2 more times and even spoke to a supervisor explaining that we were in a desperate situation and he states that help was on the way.

I waited another 15 minutes, still no roadside assistance, and called him back again. He asked if I had any water in the vehicle and I did since I had our dogs. He instructed me to carefully open the radiator, fill it up and start driving slowly to the nearest exit. Following his instructions I made it with making two stops to let the truck cool off and refilled the radiator. But the best part of AAA’s service was that I received the second text from AAA stating that Service will arrive by 10:41 PM!!! After that last text, nobody from AAA ever called or texted me to verify that I had been assisted. They did send me another text message at 10:41p stating that assistance was on the way!!!

What made this event more infuriating, during the time of my wait, two state patrolman and a road worker stop to ask if I needed assistance. I at that time told them that AAA was on their way, but thanked them for stopping. This all being said we are canceling our service immediately and making sure that we share our story with anyone else who believes that AAA will be there to help if they need assistance.

I switched to AAA from my previous insurer because I thought they were an upstanding, quality company that cared about doing right by their customers. Sadly, that has not turned out to be the case. Customer service has been woefully lacking in the branch location, over the phone, and through email. The first agent I was assigned to, aside from being generally incompetent and responding to emails with "I don't know," neglected to mention that there is an 18% APR assessed if the full premium is not paid in full at the beginning of the policy period. I've had Geico, Progressive, and Farmers - NONE of them did this, yet AAA tries to say this isn't abnormal. Yes... it is. 18% is ludicrous, but to not even mention it when selling a policy is a very bad way to start. So I found out about this about 6 months into the policy when the money was already in their hands and there was nothing to be done.

Furthermore, they now don't accept credit card payments - so they make paying the full balance more difficult and then charge 18% interest if you pay standard monthly payments. This feels predatory to me, and it leaves a very bad taste in my mouth in terms of trustworthiness and integrity of the company. Also, in my renewal packet, somehow my year first licensed date was changed to be 4 years later, which made a huge difference in my premiums. If I didn't review all of these financial documents with a fine-toothed comb (which I'd been alerted to do after the interest issue), I wouldn't have probably noticed that as it's in small print on the back of a page. How does that even happen? That sounds like something that would need to be manually changed. This makes me more skeptical of the company's integrity.

Oddly, after the year first licensed was corrected, one of my premiums went UP, even though I'd been licensed for 4 additional years. I'm not old enough for this to be a risk of injury issue, so this makes no sense at all. And when I ask for an explanation, no one can give me one except that they raised the rate... Right. That's what I just said... The question was WHY. And then they say, "Well, the rate went up."

Which leads me to my next point... Speaking to customer service reps is infuriating. I had to speak to at least 5 different people just to get an explanation that illuminated the 18% interest I'd been being charged when trying to find out what the premium would be for a new car I was buying. The reps can neither understand nor answer a direct question, and instead give answers like, "Well, the sky is blue because it's blue." I've also been told by the supervisors that they'd dig into an issue and get back to me, only to - surprise - have them never get back to me.

The times I've gone into the branch location in West Hollywood I've been disgusted by the poor level of service of the representative I was sent to (the same one twice somehow). She was rude, completely disinterested in my issue, and maddeningly unhelpful. So essentially... Poor service, predatory interest policy, and doesn't take reasonable payment methods... Here's hoping if I ever have to file a claim they handle THAT better than everything else. Maybe that would make all this other aggravation worth it... Maybe.

Then they sent him a bill less than 2 months later increasing the policy by $1000.00. They told him it was because they entered his birthday incorrectly (yeah right). Then come to find out if you want to cancel your policy they will not refund it completely. They charge a "short rate fee" if you cancel your policy before 1 year. IF I COULD GIVE NO STARS I WOULD.

However, my panel light on my dash for my backup camera and radio work only intermittently ever since he replaced my battery. Also he bent the screw mount that the battery attaches to as well as lost the rubber cover that protects the negative battery post. I've called AAA twice today to discuss this, however because I have to work for a living and I couldn't sit on hold for 9 minutes, I hung up. When I called back, finally after being on hold now for 10 minutes, a gentleman listened and said he would transfer me, and then after 3 minutes someone came on but immediately put me back on hold and then I was disconnected! About 10 minutes later, they called me to say it would be now be about 1 1/2 hours but they escalated the call due to the conditions i.e., a 60 yr old woman with her cat stranded in the heat.

About 2 hrs later, a female driver shows up with an attitude and says she got LOST... How do you get lost on only one highway 40 going EAST! She could only tow me West about 20 miles into Barstow, which at this hour would be useless, or charge me $7/mile to go East (the direction I was heading). My fiancé showed up instead and we proceeded to go East to our vacation home and order a new tire the next day. Battery, alternator, starter all fine. Second time battery, alternator and starter all fine. Dealer said I needed a new battery. I called AAA since the battery I had (from AAA) was under warranty. They came to dealer half hour later. Guy was rude and I think under the influence since he could not talk without slurring. He said his test showed the battery was fine so he couldn't replace the battery. I lost it!!! Unfortunately, there were no humans to be found and thankfully we had cell reception. When I called AAA, they said they will come in 90 minutes. However, they left us there in the heat for 5 hours!!! Didn’t even have the courtesy to call and tell us that they can’t find us. Finally, after 5 hours I called 911 and the Park ranger came and helped us. The worst part was, when the park ranger took us to the tire shop within Grand Canyon, an AAA service truck was in the tire shop which was about 10 minutes from where we were stranded!

Those guys said they never received a call from AAA! They also told me that they would have come if they had received a phone call and they know exactly where we were stranded if they had received a call. To make matters worse, when we called to make a complaint, AAA is not responding. It is almost October and they are avoiding to compensate! This could have been a life/death situation! They had my number and I kept calling and talking to the rep when we were stranded, but my final call after 5 hours, they said “You have been abandoned because our tow company could not find you”. SO I broke down and thought I would join them on my cell phone app...which I did...and I paid the annual free (SAME DAY). I next call them to get a tow, I get a person on the other side asking me which AAA I would like to be towed to, I said, "No thank you. I have another place." She then said which place within a 5 mile radius. I said, "HUH? I just paid to be a premier member or whatever." She said, "OH SORRY. There is a 7 DAY GRACE PERIOD BEFORE THAT KICKS in. After the 5 miles you will be charged???" I said, "WHAT??? YOU TOOK MY FUNDS OUT OF MY BANK TODAY!!! Not 7 days from now..."

SO the moral of the story...in the TINY FINE print there may be a clause about the waiting PERIOD but that is a joke. AAA knows most people need a TOW on the 1st day they JOIN. They also know you will probably need FOLLOW UP tows within a WEEK'S time...so NOW they have cleverly figured out a way to make MORE $$$...what a JOKE.

Hello, I would like to inform every one of the service I received on 8/11/2018 approx 0930. I was on the I-5 southbound, towing our 5th wheel RV when we had a blowout on rear driver side of pickup truck. I pulled off to shoulder of freeway, disconnected 5th wheel to change my tire. (figured it would be quicker to do it myself). The blowout caused damage to my truck and electrical receptacle that 5th wheel plugs into. I drove 15 miles to nearest off-ramp in the city of Coalinga. There was one auto repair shop, where the mechanic was attempting to fix wiring on truck. He stated he needed RV to try to figure it out. So off to try to find tires. 45 mile round trip later, I go to pick up 5th wheel on freeway to take back to mechanic.

Trying to have a good attitude up to this point, this is when it went from bad to worse. Mechanic walked away because he can't figure it out. I have no brakes, no brake lights, turn signals, nothing. I can't tow 200 miles with no electrical or brakes. This is Saturday afternoon now, everything is shutting down. I'm running out of options, so I call AAA for help, since I have AAA plus RV 100 mile tow, maybe they can tow me to Bakersfield approx 90 mi away to get some help in a larger city. I get a call from tow driver stating he is 143 miles away and he doesn't think he has the right receptacle for the 5th wheel because he isn't familiar with RV's. I said I don't know what we are going to do then. I believe he probably canceled the tow at this point because he never showed up.

After a bit I call AAA back to see if we can get someone to tow us. I talked to probably 20 different people from AAA, one lady arguing that I didn't even have roadside RV. I received a text from AAA stating tow was going to be there at about 8;53 pm, then another text stating about 9;03 pm. At about 10;00 pm I called AAA to ask where tow was, and they said, "What tow?" They had nothing scheduled and showed nothing available to come to us. There we are at the side of a curb, never heard from AAA the rest of the night.

I started to jerry rig the wiring at about 6;30 am trying to get brakes and brake lights only while my wife was on phone with AAA. The lady my wife was speaking with stated the computer showed we cancelled the tow, that we ordered gas a couple times and cancelled them all and AAA tried to contact us numerous times. When my wife stated none of that was true, the lady said, "Interesting." and stated, "I think I see what's going on." We got pawned off like a hot potato more times than I care to remember. I have never had such horrible customer service from anyone, and nobody knew what they were doing or cared.

At 10:00 PM, my son had a blow out with his tire on a highway in Vancouver Washington, just over the river from Portland, Oregon. He was able to drive it to the shoulder, which happened to be very narrow. It very dark with no street lights. He immediately called AAA and the lady asked if he could drive the car. He informed her "NO" it was not drivable and he needed a TOW TRUCK. He was told it would take 2-3 hours before a tow truck could come. His Dad and I told him to have the car towed to a Tire Center that we've been customers of for several years.

We waited and waited for my son's phone call informing us that a tow truck had picked him up. I called him at 1:00 AM and asked what was going on. He informed me that they still hadn't sent out a tow truck and it would still be another 3 hours!!! My husband and I were livid! We've been customers with AAA for over 30 years. AAA informed us that they didn't have a tow truck available. We expressed our shock and told them it's not like we're in the middle of Iowa in a corn field or something! Our son was in a VERY dangerous situation, on a narrow DARK shoulder, with traffic whizzing by him at high speeds and his battery was dying and his flashers were becoming dim. My husband asked to speak to a manager and the manager finally said he could have somebody there by 3:00 AM. It was now 2:00 AM. FOUR hours had passed since the first call was placed by my son. He's still sitting there waiting.

My husband and I decide to drive out to him (we're visiting him from Texas and staying at a hotel). We drive out to him and give his car battery a jump since it's almost dead. My husband decides to stay with the car so my son can get some sleep since he is racing motorcycles the next day. The tow truck driver FINALLY comes at 4:00 AM. The driver informs my husband that AAA didn't even call him until 1:00 AM-he is their ONLY driver for that area and they didn't call him!!! He said AAA does this a lot and he's sick of it because the customers get mad at the drivers. It was a terrible experience with AAA. They allowed my son to stay in a life threatening situation while promising to send out a driver and not following through.

8/28/2018 I called AAA in Tampa to have someone come and jump start my dead battery. The serviceman came in a short time. He was nice and friendly. He carried a large obviously extremely heavy portable jump starter. He struggled to lift the jumper and placed it in the engine compartment of my Toyota FJ Cruiser. I was shocked. I do not even lay a screwdriver in the engine compartment. I said nothing. He jumped the battery and did a battery health test. He said the battery was bad. I told him I cannot buy a battery at this time. He then left. I closed the hood. The hood would not latch. The heavy jumper had bent horizontal the vertical hook that locks down the hood. I bent the hook vertically again and the hood latched when closed.

That heavy equipment should never have been set in an engine compartment. I take exceptional care of my car. I have emailed the AAA corporate office, the West Tampa office and several other corporate offices. None bothered to answer. They need to train their employees to take care of the property of others! AAA cares nothing about us. Only our dollars. AAA gets an F- from me.

On Saturday (August 18, 2018). I called AAA regarding my son's Honda Civic which had broken down in Melrose, Massachusetts. We were parked on the street next to a hospital. My wife, my son and myself have AAA +. I called AAA at 5:45 pm. I was told that the truck would be there by 8:25 pm. I told them that I thought that was an inordinate amount of time. They said that this was a range, and they expected the truck sooner. The truck didn't arrive until almost 8:30 pm. When the drivers arrived, I told them that the transmission appeared shot in the car. I based this on the fact that the car would start and rev, but it would not move. I mentioned that the car would initially move but after a few minutes it would stop. The drivers moved the car back and forth on the street, and then opened the hood.

They told us that the problem was that "too much air" was getting to the engine. They tightened a hose and told us that the car was fine to drive home. I objected and said that my concern was that it would work for a few minutes and then break down. They insisted that it was fine. They left, and I followed my son in my car. About a mile away, when we were entering an on ramp to route 93 (in Stoneham), his car stopped. I was forced to back up. Because of the traffic, it was necessary for me to back on to a sidewalk next to the ramp. THIS DAMAGED MY MUFFLER. Some good Samaritans came by and helped us to push the car across the street into a restaurant parking lot.

I immediately called AAA and told them what I just indicated to you. They apologized and said that they would get someone there immediately. At 9:08 pm I received a call from 401-868-2000, the person identified themselves as being from AAA. They said that the truck would be delayed, and that we should leave the keys under the matt in the front seat. She said we could leave and that the car would be delivered where we originally requested it. We did as she asked and left. The end result of this is that my car in now damaged.

I have been a member of AAA since 1984. This is by far the worst service I have received from AAA. My car is damaged, and I will need to get a new muffler. Under the circumstances I believe that it would be appropriate for AAA to compensate me for the cost of the repair. I sent the above not to AAA. They responded with an email asking me to call them. They left a phone number and a contact name. I told the woman that I thought that I should be reimbursed. She told me to send her a picture of the damage and a copy of the bill. I emailed her both. I was not able to reach her for a time.

Eventually she called me (on Wednesday, August 29th). She informed me that she misunderstood my email and that they would not pay for the damage. I expressed to her my outrage, in late of her previous comments. Needless to say, after 36 years as a member of AAA, this will be my last. I recommend that readers of this look at some of the alternative road services (including AARP). You may be pleasantly surprised.

My car broke down on a Sunday night (at my relatives house thankfully). I called AAA for roadside services. I was explaining the situation and the rep HUNG UP ON ME. I called back and was on hold for 45+ minutes. I told the new rep I had been hung up on from the original call and he didn't seem to care. I had to rehash the entire situation and was told that basically nothing could really be done until the AM (okay I get it was a Sunday but they were not helpful at all). Rep assured me that since I had to get home (ended up taking my relatives car) that my brother could meet with the AAA service employee the next day and be "the agent" since I had to drive an hour home so I could go to work the next day.

Called the next day to inform them my brother was at the house where my car had broken down and they said I had to be with my car and were very rude to me asking "Why aren't you with the car" (um because I have to work). She said she would have to confirm I could have him be present when AAA tow got there (on hold for longer). Was told that was okay but she needed to speak to him so I gave her his number (put on hold again) then told he didn't answer. I asked if she could give me a minute to text him to inform him a 800 or unknown number was going to call him (usually he doesn't pick up random calls) and she told me no that she had to hang up because she had other people to help. HELLO??! She was suppose to be helping me.

So my car is STILL where it broke down almost 24 hours ago with no help from AAA and all 3 reps I spoke to were horrible (1 hung up on me 1 told me information which I then told was incorrect and 1 was rude and acted like I was a terrible person for having to leave my car to get to my job/hometown which was an hour away). I never write reviews but this is ridiculous. Having worked in customer service for a good portion of my life I cannot believe the inconsistent answers I have gotten from AAA, the rude attitudes from the employees and the utter lack of HELP from a ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE company which I pay a good price for. 0/10 would recommend.

I needed a tow from Santa Cruz to the Santa Cruz mountains and they told me they could not do it. They claimed it was because highway 17 (the major 4 lane highway connecting Santa Cruz to San Jose) was a dirt road. Never in my life did I think I would lose a battle over a government commuter highway was paved or not. Not to mention I was on the phone with them or waiting for a call from them for over 6 hours before they decided highway 17 was not paved.

We blew out a tire on a busy section of highway. We reported when we called AAA that we were in a dangerous location. 1 hour later an AAA representative showed up, said he had been given the wrong address, and told us it was too dangerous of an area for him to change the tire. He said he would call us a tow truck. Two more hours and three more calls to AAA, we are still sitting on the highway waiting. The representatives are always very apologetic, but can’t seem to assist. We are in a metropolitan area on a Saturday in the middle of the day. It shouldn’t be this difficult. The representative told us they had the wrong address again. :/ Not sure how they can claim world class service!

I have an expensive but worthless family membership that includes my brother. Last night he was driving with a friend to a concert in Philadelphia, a distance of about 150 miles. Both are near 70 years old and the friend has cancer. The concert was to be a pleasant distraction from his problems. Outside of Philadelphia, he experienced brake problems and pulled into a parking lot. Not wanting the friend to miss an event he had looked forward to for months and spent a lot of money on tickets, I called Uber to take them to the concert and AAA to arrange a tow home afterward. This was at about 7:30 p.m. I was told a tow could not be scheduled in advance and to call back when they were at the car.

At 12:30 a.m. I put in an online request for service and received notice that a tow truck from H&J Towing would arrive at 1:32. At 1:32 a message appeared that the truck had been redirected. I called AAA and was told no trucks were available to go that far so late at night. I pointed out I had try to arrange service earlier and asked why I hadn't been informed of the problem when I submitted a request over an hour before. The dispatcher had no answer, nor sympathy. The tow truck arrived at 7:10 a.m. and it didn't take a credit card for the $ 4-mile extra distance fee. The claim of 24/7 roadside is assistance is a lie and will leave sick old men broken down all night.

I called AAA for a battery replacement, showed up in a very timely manner. I am handicapped and walk with a cane and my left arm is useless, but I made it out to the garage and jump started the vehicle let it run for a while and ”I” disconnected the battery. AAA arrived I was in the house with my physical therapist, told him what I did and to put the battery in, knocked on the door and came in. I gave him my membership and credit card plus $10.00, I signed the receipt and he was gone. Upon looking at the receipt I noticed “labor intensive installation”. Bear in mind I’m handicapped and I had no problem accessing the battery, but after calling AAA they were told the guy had trouble accessing the battery!!! “CAN YOU SAY RIP OFF?” I’ll never use AAA again!!!

I have been a loyal customer to AAA for 30 years. I have had my home and car both insured by AAA since 1989. I have had perhaps 3 claims on my home in 30 years. The last claim I made was for water damage and they doubled my yearly premium based on just one claim and increased my deductible from $500 to $2000 though I replaced all the plumbing that could cause any future water damage. That's not the worst part. They just recently gave me 45 days notice that they were cancelling my home insurance policy after 30 years based on new underwriting guidelines that put my home too close to homes in a high fire risk area, though my home is blocks away from any brush.

I have lived in the same house for 30 years with zero claims for fire damage, and suddenly my home is too near brush to insure? And I am on a normal paved street in an urban neighborhood in Orange County, CA within 1.5 miles of a fire station. An aerial view of my home by Farmers Insurance was enough to demonstrate to my new agent that my home was not in a high fire risk area and they readily insured my home at a lower premium. Thank you Farmers. I will be cancelling my auto insurance and my roadside assistance with AAA because they do not honor customer loyalty.
