I had AAA replace my old battery. Within a week my vehicle did not start again. I called them back and they told me it was my vehicle and not their battery. When the technician came to the house he said the battery was bad and needed to be replaced. It has happened again. They told me it is not the battery but they will replace it this one last time. I have a new alternator and the vehicle was checked by the mechanic to see if there was a drain or if anything else was wrong with the vehicle. Nothing was wrong. The test showed the battery was bad this time but they yelled at me and told me it's not the battery's fault. They told me I have to take it to the mechanic again and have the vehicle look at even though it was done about two weeks ago. They said if I pay for another test which is about $95 they might replace the battery again if something happens. It has a 3-year warranty. Why are they yelling at me because the batteries are going bad?

AAA. My wife signed us up for a membership with AAA. Our van had lately been acting up, and with several trips to the mechanic, we had as yet not resolved the issues. Just in case of a real disaster, she felt that a little extra insurance would be helpful. Sure enough, the night of December 17th, after taking my son to his mother’s house, misfortune struck. It was a cool Sunday, and I had to drive my son to his mum who lives in Fort Lee from my current wife and my Home in Brooklyn. At 4 in the afternoon the predicted rain began slushy with big flakes of snow mixed in. Roads became wet and flooded quickly. Puddles accumulated and crossed the entire breadth of the street. Traffic was slow.

Uneventfully we drove to Ft Lee and I dropped him off at his mum’s building door. I then turned and began the drive home. I turned off the George Washington Bridge, went down the ramp to join the Henry Hudson, and continued south toward lower Manhattan. I expected to eventually turn onto Canal street and cross to the Manhattan bridge, going back over to Brooklyn and home. I didn’t make it. Driving down the Henry Hudson, it was wet. There were huge puddles. Cars, and including my van, were slogging through deep bodies of water forming from the heavy downpour, and spraying up sheets of water, undoubtedly soaking the underside of the car as well as everywhere else. We were imbibed in a soaking, and I, as well as other drivers around me were also fighting the fogging up of the interior window surfaces. I had all the defrost and heat on full. The engine began to splutter.

By the time I reached Chelsea Piers. I had avoided stalling by shifting into neutral and revving the engine while coasting along the road in traffic. This worked till I had to stop at a traffic light. I had chosen to travel in the outside lane because I was afraid the the car might stall, and I may be stranded. This finally happened when I stopped at the traffic light at Chelsea Pier. The car shut off, and all efforts to restart failed. I sat. Thru green and red, trying again to restart. It was dark now, 9pm and I had my flashers on. Cars that got stuck behind me honked. My cellphone battery was low, but I made the call to AAA, thinking that in about half an hour I would be towed away from this scary precarious position on this 6 lane road where the speed limit is 35 mph, but cars were passing me when the light was green at easily 50 or 60 mph. One of them clipped my mirror.

The call was connected, and I went through the automatic menu, and then was put on hold. On hold I remained for 30 minutes. My cell battery ever lowering.

A Womyn chauffeur driver in a large black suburban called thru the window to me. “Put on your interior lights so you are more visible.” ‘Good idea, thanks. I said’, and I did. “And call 911” she said. “They will come and tow you”. I hung up from AAA and called 911. An operator answered immediately. “What’s the nature of your emergency?” She asked. I explained the circumstances, and that I was afraid I was a road hazard and that I was in fear of being rear ended. “Thank you for your call, I’ll send someone over to you” she said.

We hung up, and I called my wife and asked her to go online and make an online service request to AAA, which she did while I again tried to contact AAA on my cell phone (I did also try to use to app to create my own service request, but the app did not work on my phone, an Iphone 6 - perhaps not one of the best of cellphones, I know, but it’s the phone I have never-the-less. It makes and receives calls adequately.)

Again I called AAA. Again I was stuck in a menu on hold for 30 minutes without speaking to a person. A police car pulled up behind me and 3 police got out. At the next red light when all the traffic was stopped, they positioned themselves in front of the stopped traffic to ensure no one would move if the light turned green, and the third police in his squad car bumper pushed my van a left turn across traffic into 18th street where I glided into a parking space and felt safe now that I was out of traffic. Thanks so much NYPD!

My wife called and told me she had initiated an online service request to AAA and a tow truck was scheduled to arrive at my location 11pm. In an hour. It was cold, so I wrapped myself in a sleeping bag I had in the van, as we occasionally use the van for camping, and waited. Just before 11pm a text came thru to my phone informing me that the tow truck eta was now delayed to midnight. So I settled in and waited again.

At midnight, a large flatbed tow truck showed up and pulled in in front of my van, in position to hoist me aboard. Getting out I met with a friendly burly young man who asked to see my AAA card. I showed him the scan of the card I keep in my phone in lieu of the physical plastic clutter that clogs my wallet. This was sufficient, but he noted that my name on my card was not the same name as appeared on the service request. I replied that the service request had been initiated by my wife, who had computer access as the AAA app was not working in my phone. That I was the primary account holder, and we both had membership. He called his boss. After a brief phone conversation, the young man informed me that the name on the card had to match the name in the service request and that he was unable to help me. With that, he got back in his truck and drove away. He just left me there stranded with no help at all.

I called my wife, who had been asleep, and she initiated another service request. ETA; 2 am. It occurred to me, that my van had now been sitting for several hours. If the wet had stalled it, maybe now it was dry? Even though the battery was a little low from my previous restart attempts, I tried again, and luckily, the van started! I was able to drive home. So much for AAA.

But there’s more! Friday January 11, I drove my VW Beetle, a car I bought new, and have maintained properly according to schedule and more, with a fuel efficient reliable Diesel engine. A car that has never failed me, is comfortable, compact, fast - will make speed up past 125mph with rpm’s left to go, and I’ve maintained her in perfect mechanical condition so she runs like a charm. A car I’ve never had a problem with.

My wife, son and I drove from Brooklyn to Hanover New Hampshire to visit my sister. We made quick time in the highway arriving 4 hours after leaving NYC, with a half hour rest stop on the way. NH is cold this time of year, and overnight the temp dropped to -11 degrees F. The next morning when I tried to start the car, the battery was too cold and couldn’t crank the engine. Time for a new battery I thought, and my wife called AAA asking for a jump start. Again, a hold of 30 minutes. Eventually an operator came on and took our information and assured us a service vehicle would arrive within the hour. And eventually one did. A medium sized flatbed tow vehicle.

The operator got out and applied a Jump Start battery boost to my battery, and I turned the key. The car barely cranked. The boost box was drained. The mechanic said “Ok, well that’s it, that’s all I can do”. I was surprised. ‘Do you have any jumper cables?’ I asked. ‘No’ he said ‘We don’t jump off the vehicles, we have too many electrical devices connected.’ Again I was confused. ‘But we called AAA, you are supposed to help us’ I said. ‘Nothing I can do‘ he replied. Then I made my case, politely and calmly about us having an AAA membership and that we expect service. "This is only a flat battery" I reminded, it’s not difficult to correct. I explained how if we used jumper cables, there would be the power of his v8 engine producing electrical charge, which would be more than the jump start box battery, and this would undoubtedly be enough to turn my engine and start it. He had no jumper cables.

Earlier, the proprietor of the hotel we were staying in had offered his. The Mechanic argued; “Your diesel fuel has jelled with the cold, it won’t start till it warms up, and your starter is going to need replacing.” He continued “This truck is a $120,000 vehicle” he bragged. “You will be responsible for any damage that occurs!” I Having run diesel tugboats for much of my Merchant marine career. I’m familiar with Diesel engines and fuel. “In these northern climates, fuel companies mix a additive to prevent jelling of diesel fuel, it can’t be the problem" I replied. “And my car is in perfect mechanical condition. It’s not the starter.” He argued awhile longer, but eventually conceded to let me try.

I connected the borrowed cables to my car while the mechanic popped the hood on his truck. I was astonished. The terminals on his battery were caked with many years of corrosion. I asked him for a wire brush. He denied having one. I tried scraping with the blade of my jackknife. There was so much corrosion, I would need an electric wire wheel to get it off. I tried to make a connection. I asked my wife and son to push the jumper cables on to the battery terminals. They both were skeptical and afraid of getting a shock, and so didn’t push hard enough. The mechanic sat in his truck. When I asked him to increase the rpm’s so the engine would output more current, he angrily responded by high revving the engine, frightening my wife and son, who were trying to help me by holding the cables on to the battery.

There was no way. The current could simply not get thru to my starter, my engine could not turn over. “That’s all I can do” said the mechanic. I was left stunned. He packed up his truck and drove away, leaving us stranded, not even offering a tow to a shop where I could get a new battery. My wife initiated another online service request. I called AAA, and after a wait, a rep answered. I explained the situation and described the mechanics behavior. She apologized and assured me another proper mechanic, with tools and equipment would be dispatched immediately. We waited. After another hour, I went into the hotel bathroom behind the front desk for a quick pit stop. Emerging a couple minutes later, I was just in time to arrive at my car to find the second mechanic packing up to leave. He had tried his portable jump start battery, and it had drained immediately, same as the last mechanics.

This mechanic was visibly agitated, and belligerent; “Your fuel has jelled” he yelled. “Good luck buddy, there’s no way this car gonna start”. He continued to shout angrily about other mechanical maladies undoubtedly plaguing my car. He continued angrily with a tirade about how I didn’t know what I was talking about, didn’t know what I was doing, and “Good Luck Buddy” he shouted. I unperturbedly asked if he had any jumper cables? His snort and visible rage were almost comical. Taking his yell up another level, he replied with a bragging tirade same as the last mechanic about how his truck was a $120,000 vehicle, and he ‘don’t jump from the vehicle’. We explained we are AAA members. My wife asked for a tow to a shop where we could get a new battery. “No” was his reply. He got in his truck and spun the wheels as he angrily roared off. So there we were. Left stranded by the service vehicles sent by our AAA membership.

We stood, out in the cold morning air contemplating what to do next. I got on the phone to AAA again. I waited. A service rep eventually answered, and I began explaining what had happened. Just then, a middle aged womyn in a newer Subaru pulled up. She asked me if we were all right? I told the AAA service rep I would call back because a private citizen had offered to help us. I explained to the womyn what had happened. She offered to help, and popped open her hood. Her Subaru engine compartment was perfect. Clean and new. Her battery was prominent, with clean terminals easily accessible.

I connected the borrowed jumper cables to it, my wife got into the drivers seat of the beetle, and I connected the cables to our battery, pushing on them to ensure a good connection (the battery position in the beetle engine compartment is clean and neat, but a little awkward, as the engine compartment is compact due to the body styling. Once I’d ensured the connection was good, my wife turned the key and the beetle engine roared to life. All it needed was a competent person to ensure things were done properly. I drove to a Walmart and replaced the battery with a new one, and everything is now fine. No jelled fuel. No new starter. I know what I’m talking about, and doing. I’m polite and calm in the face of angry challenges, and grateful for successful assistance My wife and son both are witnesses. I don’t recommend AAA auto club.

On 1.13.19 I put in a call for Roadside Assistance. My dispatcher's name was "Jen". This request was put in via phone call at about 12:15 pm or so. I received my first confirmation text at 12:28 pm. Long story short, although I called AAA at least 8 or more times, after being given story after story as to why nobody had come to tow the car, during my last call, I was EXTREMELY upset, and rightly so. I pay for AAA Premier service and have been a AAA member since 2000, and can count on 1 hand how many times I have actually used the service, and now that I need it, it's not available to me. How does this happen? I'm not gonna ask that question again because I made sure that I canceled my membership with AAA and today I got a new service.

This should NEVER happen! If you advertise a service and people pay for it, they should not be left waiting almost over 4 hours in the cold to receive service, and also be left waiting without AAA reaching out. As I mentioned above, I had to call AAA over 8 times to find out why I was still out in the cold! Not to mention being told at one point by "Jen" that help was on the way at 1:57 pm with no one showing up and then again told by "Jen" that a truck would come within 1/2 hour, yup you guessed it, no show. Then upon the last call (which she actually called while I was on hold speaking to a rep at AAA) to tell me it would be another 20 minutes. I was beyond "done"! POOR SERVICE and I don't care if there were a million calls that day, it's not the consumer's problem. Offer a service, and deliver!

We have been loyal and very satisfied members for 24 years, "plus" members for the last 8 or so. I called at 7:40 pm on a Wednesday in an urban area and ended up waiting almost 3 hrs to have someone arrive to change a blown tire. The first dispatcher went through her whole (apparently short) list of providers and couldn't get anyone. She had to kick our call to a supervisor who could call a non-contracted tow company. Clearly AAA has lost a lot of contracted tow companies. We have many in town, but apparently it no longer pays to work for AAA. Beyond the bad business practices that have left them short of contractors, their supervisors don't even call to inform customers of ETAs. The deterioration in the last year or two has been stunning. Time to return to the business model that worked. Pay the contractors decently and communicate promptly!

I was driving a rental car in San Ramon, California, during heavy rain, and hit a pothole on the side of the road, which blew out the front right tire. I called AAA roadside assistance and help arrived within about half an hour. The technician and I realized that in fact there were two tires blown out, and it would be necessary to get a tow (only one spare tire). The technician helpfully called AAA dispatch, and told me a tow truck was on the way.

Some time later, I got a call from AAA dispatch to confirm the address to tow the car - Oakland airport since that is where the a rental car service center is located. Some time later, I got another call from AAA dispatch telling e that it would take some time since it is an "out of area" tow. Some time later, I got another call from AAA dispatch saying the driver was on the way. When the tow truck driver arrived, and as he was loading the car on to the flatbed, he asked if I had been told that there would be an extra charge since it was a tow greater than five miles, and since the extra was 20 miles, I would have to pay $240. Of course, I said no one had told me (despite four calls with AAA dispatch), and that I didn't think it was fair and I didn't want to pay. Frankly, if I had know this earlier, I could have arranged something that would not have cost me so much.

I ended up speaking with a customer service rep who was very rude and unhelpful. I asked for a supervisor, who told me she would try and work it out and call me back. She did call me back in about 20 minutes, and said she was still working on it. After another half an hour - nothing. I called the customer supervisor back and got a voicemail message - I suspect she put my number to be blocked because she did not want to talk with me. Eventually, after four hours, I couldn't wait any longer, and I told the driver I would pay the $240, and sort it out later. When I presented my credit card, he told me he did not have the ability to take a credit card, as his reader (Square) was not working. However, he called one of his colleagues who turned up about 20 minutes later and I paid the money.

    CONCLUSION:
    - terrible customer service, rude, unhelpful.
    - a ripoff.

    - bait and switch - despite several opportunities to tell me of the extra charges, no one did until it was basically too late.

    RECOMMENDATIONS:
    - do not use AAA for anything except simple roadside service.

    - If you need something more, cancel your AAA membership, and tell all your friends. It is NOT WORTH THE HASSLE

I am 74, live in Orlando, Florida, a 14 years gold card member of AAA, writing to you but not knowing what to expect, yet hoping that you will take disciplinary action against these AAA managers who coldly refused to provide roadside service to me during a rainy cold night when my car went off the road into a roadside water drainage area.

The details of the incident are as follows: Date and Time: Thursday, Dec 20, 2018 at about 6:15 PM. Location: 18359 East Colonial Drive at Florida CR 13 -- about 50 yards from this intersection on East Colonial toward east on the north side of the road. After the initial call to AAA requesting help, I waited for more than an hour till a tow truck showed up; but the person quickly refused to service giving reason that his truck is not equipped to handle the situation since it needed a flatbed truck. Then he talked with AAA agent and left.

The AAA agent then instructed me to wait as she was working to get a flatbed truck out there for service. About 25 minutes later, she told me that a truck is on the way and asked me to wait. After waiting for more than 30 minutes, when nothing happened, I called back and spoke with another agent, John. He totally surprised me by saying that the last tow truck person returned because the car is in the water, and AAA cannot provide service. What a surprise it was that here I was waiting for a flatbed tow truck to arrive as per the last agent, and now was being told by John that AAA will not provide service because they were told that my car was in the water. So I spoke with his supervisor Dina but her response was the same, giving the same excuse.

After her refusal to service, I spoke with her manager, Keith. But he too refused on the ground that car is in the water as reported by the last tow truck person. But I told Keith repeatedly that car is not in the water. It is sitting outside the water and explained that all wheels are out of the water. It is nearby but not in the water. I told him, over and over, that I can send a photograph as a proof.

In desperation I approached his manager, Kenny, with a tremendous hope that he may understand the critical situation in am in -- that for last three hours I have been in the cold and rainy weather -- and desperately seeking his executive help. But he turned out to be even much hardhearted person than Keith, using the same excuse to not provide the service. I even told both of these managers that charge me extra whatever it is but please, please, I beg you, please, just provide the service. Oh! I kept insisting that I can send them a picture showing that the car is not in the water but outside; but their pride and ego, power and authority, their utterly insensitive arrogance could not bend before a truly desperate human need.

For over three long hours, in utterly cold rainy evening, here I was, a 74 old, repeatedly begging before these gentlemen for help – requesting to send a flatbed truck-- but my pleas for their mercy could not be heard by their cold heart – ESPECIALLY DURING CHRISTMAS TIME WHEN MERCY AND KINDNESS, THE LOVE OF GOD, FLOWS IN THE AIR EVERYWHERE.

The next day I got a flatbed-truck on my own and got my car towed to a place of service. To save the joy of the holiday season and not let this incident destroy its emotional pleasantry, I held back reporting the incident to you till now. Sir! This is not the AAA we hear of. This was the most unbelievable torturous treatment by these managers.

When I open AAA web page, it says I am a ‘Loyal AAA Member Since 2004’. Really! What good is that? If AAA cannot be there in emergency, then of what good is their membership? Please look at the record, how often I have requested service from AAA during these last 14 years of Gold membership? Not much. And when I really needed help, AAA REFUSED, hiding behind some excuse that was not even valid.

As I said in the beginning, I do not know what to expect but I do hope that AAA does take a disciplinary action especially against these managers who are in the upper level of management, Keith and Kenny, to make them aware that being human and operating with care and compassion, kindness and mercy, is more important than being a manager with power and authority, dealing with rules in arrogance and applying them with cruelty and cold-hardheartedness – especially in a service providing industry and company like AAA. Thanks for listening!

If you are disabled (senior or not), do NOT purchase a battery from AAA. A few days before Thanksgiving 2018, I called Triple A to unlock my door because I inadvertently tucked my keys in my coat pocket, which was still in the car. (Warm day here in Colorado Springs.) Although the wait was quite long, when their serviceman did show up, he was an absolute sweetheart. However, once he left and I attempted to start my car, I learned the battery had died. I purchased this battery from Triple A in 2016, so it is still under warranty. Anyway, I had to call them again and was praying that the same serviceman was close enough to help me again. He wasn't, so there was another long wait.

In the meantime, I had a hero in the form of the security officer at Natural Grocers, where I shopped. He worked EXTRA HARD in the now cold, freezing night air to give me a jump, working at it for nearly an hour, while we waited for Triple A. They did call a couple of times to give me an ETA. However, the last rep - a female dispatcher - morphed into a hostile little beastie when I dared to inquire about a possible battery replacement, declaring that since I don't drive it enough, the warranty will not be valid.

EXCUSE ME? So now I'm being threatened with the possibility of having to pay for a NEW battery BECAUSE I'M DISABLED and don't drive enough? Never mind the FACT I have not only AAA, but also their auto and renter's insurances. Good paying customer be... Well, you know! AND, I learned that my "elder" cousin in Maryland has just experienced the same, regarding a replacement battery. (I'm 65; she is 76 and in poor health, too.) So the "hostile little beastie metamorphosis" I experienced is not an isolated case of bad, really bad, customer service. Even fraud, maybe? By the way, AAA didn't need to send assistance because my hero, the security guard, got my car started and I canceled the ticket.

I purchased a AAA battery on 3/11/18. I have had to have them come out and charge it at least three times before my membership expired on 11/30/2018. I was told that this battery has a six year warranty, including replacement the first three years. They refuse to service or replace their lemon battery and unless I renew my membership or pay $75 for a service call. I have since had the battery as well as my starter, alternator and electrical system tested by two different mechanics (one of which was a “AAA Authorized Auto Repair” service station) and both informed me in writing that the only thing wrong with my vehicle was a bad battery, which should be replaced ASAP.

AAA finally came out and tested that battery, agreed that my battery, which is less than 10 months old should be replaced soon, but they won’t do it because I don’t put enough mileage on my vehicle (I telecommute from home but drive my vehicle it at least 3 times per week, which according to both my mechanics should be enough to keep the battery in good shape). As for their roadside service, I have been told that I can’t make an appointment for a service call and I should call no earlier than 1 hour prior to the time that I have to leave. However, I’ve missed several important appointments because my lemon battery wouldn’t start my engine, and it takes AAA anywhere from 90 minutes to 4 hours to arrive and charge their lemon!

2 months ago I called AAA. My trucks brakes went and I wanted to get it towed home so I could fix it. I was told someone would be there within an hour to help since I had my wife and 3 young children in the car. After an hour I called my family and they ran up to pick me and the wife and kids up and take us home leaving the car on the side of the road. After getting home I gathers tools and a jack and drove back to my car a 45-minute drive each time. I fixed my brakes and drove the car home. After being home for over another hour AAA called to inform me they would not be able to help me. All in all it was 4 hours before they told me they couldn’t help. I was 45 minutes from home thank God for family otherwise I would of been stranded.

Fast forward to today January 3rd 2019 I called AAA at 2040 and was told someone would arrive by 1939. At 2100 I called and spoke to them again and they said they would look into it and call me back. After 30 minutes I called them and they informed me that a driver had been dispatched. It’s currently 2231 still no truck. I have been on hold with the AAA customer service now for 22 minutes and haven’t spoke to a single person. I’m done. The annual fee isn’t worth the lack of customer care.

My car got a flat tire while driving my brother to my parent's place on New Year's Day. We worked on it ourselves for a while and got most of it done until a AAA vehicle parked behind us. The AAA guy saw us on the side of the road and stopped to check on us. When he did, he showed us how to use my car's jack properly (which it turns out... was a lot quicker than the way we were using it haha) and made sure to follow us until we were safely off the highway. I would give negative 0 stars if it were available! I pay for a service for the past several years to cover me and my son. Yet when he tries to use it this year he is told he will be charged $65 to unlock his car if he doesn't have his photo ID on him. Which he is only 19, a child who obviously locks car doors and loses things. Now the company they work with was more than willing to work with us but triple A on the other hand to whom I pay a yearly fee for service is awful. I would never in any lifetime recommend them. Instead go through your car insurance company.

Adam's Towing was the tow company being sent out. We waited close to 2 hours and when I called Adam's to see what the ETA was because AAA gave us a specific time, the dispatcher was rude and hateful. Told me she wasnt arguing with me that there was a 2 hour wait regardless of age. All I asked for was an ETA. Something needs to be done with this company. Overall ratings are terrible!

The battery died on our car and he called AAA to have someone come and change out our battery. (The first time we have ever had to use the service and they said they do not offer that service in Rochester. How do they not service a city of 215,00+ people? So it doesn't bode well that they would offer this or other services in the rural area that I live.

How can they advertise this service and then when you go to use it - they say they don't offer it? The more research I did, this is very typical of AAA. We canceled our membership and my husband had to make numerous phone calls for them to pro-rate our membership fees. (Which they finally did.). I would tell everyone not to sign up with AAA. I was paying for peace of mind in case we ever needed them and when we did need them - they didn't deliver.

I had a flat tire and called but they dispatched roadside assistance instead of a tow truck. The tire would not hold air, which I told them on the initial call but still no tow truck. After waiting all morning for roadside assistance, they determined I needed a tow truck (surprise). Now, I have to initiate a new, separate ticket in order to get a tow truck dispatched. I've wasted an entire day waiting for AAA! If they had LISTENED to my initial complaint (the sidewall is blown and won't hold air), I MIGHT have been able to get a tow truck out here earlier. AAA leaves a LOT to be desired in the way of customer service. I will be purchasing roadside assistance from the dealership in lieu of renewing my membership with AAA.

Now, for some reason that representative no longer works there and terms that I discussed with her changed. I can only think of this as a fraud. I made sure that I do not have to change my Driver's license and registration to NC before signing up for auto insurance. Now they are saying that I have to before certain date.

Another thing is that, she told me that I can change the insurance company at any time if I wanted to without a penalty. Now they are saying, there is a short rate penalty. By the way, I wasn't even told about the extra fee that I had to pay every month if billing is generated in mail. So I'm here stuck with AAA. I'm not going to be changing my Driver's info. I hope that AAA headquarter can get me out of this mess of fraud from NC region.

A few weeks while returning to the light rail park and ride around rush hour, my car would not start, my hunch involved probably needed a battery jump, maybe a replacement. I assumed a 40 minute to hour wait at best and was told as such. After an hour (it became cold and damp out) I received a phone call from customer service apologizing and assuring me it would not be much longer. Then almost another goes by and I receive another call. At this point I am livid and insist I want service now. I sarcastically ask if I am supposed to wait another hour. The rep asks if I am in danger of freezing, etc. Luckily no.

Finally a rep comes, decide to buy a new battery. I ask why it took so long and told he is the only battery truck covering my vicinity, stretching at least another 8-10 mile radius. I am located in a suburb according to he (and my insurance agent, who I emailed about alternatives to AAA the following business day,) that is an "outer area". Ridiculous considering the growth the last 10-15 years. My family and I have been members going back perhaps 50 years and if this is the treatment you're giving me, I am going to look into other alternatives. He would let the lady know that was handling my case know that. So almost home and they call and say that a tow company would be there within 75 mins.

I had my son add me to his AAA account. I had a vehicle that needed to be towed. He called and within an hour I had a temporary card and was on the basic plan. I then found out that my tow was going to be 10 miles (5 miles is covered by the basic) so I thought that I would just upgrade to the next plan and not waste $30 I was going to give the tow company for the extra mileage. I called AAA and it would be $84 for me to be able to go to the next plan (3 people were on the plan and I would have to upgrade all 3). I didn't have a problem with that but it would take 72 hours for it to take effect.

So if you call and add someone to a AAA account and it will take effect immediately but if I upgrade to the next plan it will take 72 hours. This still infuriates me to no end. It all boils down to AAA does not want you to buy the basic plan and then upgrade if you need it. They want your money up front. Then the AAA representative asked me if I did not see the value in the savings. I told them most definitely I did see the added value but I also couldn't see how AAA could add someone to a plan in less than an hour but they couldn't change a plan in the same amount of time. I would think it would be pretty easy, there are only 3 plans and they didn't have to take any personal information and add it to the account.

Never heard of it, and neither did the agent at AAA when I called to complain. Apparently if they have towed your car for the same reason once, that's it, no more tow.

Well, this weekend we had a snowstorm in Virginia, we spun out and were stuck in a ditch, I called AAA and they told me they would not be able to help with a tow, but if I wanted a tow they could send someone but I would have to pay out of pocket!!!... I was furious and hung up. I then got stuck a 2nd time and this time I called back and at first was told I would be towed and put in a service call, told it would be 3-4 hours, which I thought ok snowstorm. I guess it's better than a NO... An hour later I received a call from the tow driver himself who said that he would only get me out of the snow I was stuck in but would not tow me anywhere... The car became disabled while there. It's November and cold in Iowa... I called for roadside assistance and was told because I was not present, he could not be assisted. I would have to add him on to policy. This made no sense considering that I had the same car jumped when he took it to the store a few months prior and it wasn't an issue. So here I am with a 90 year old with Alzheimer's who I couldn't leave alone. She's coughing and all we want to do is give her some medicine and I have to take a Lyft to the gas station with her in order to be present with the car. Half a freaking mile away! She's already sick and I have to bundle her up and take her outside just so I can be present with the car.

I spoke with 3 idiots that I eventually hung up on since their only concern was reading "policy." Yet, policy had no issue with the car and him driving it a few months prior when they came out. Luckily, a good Samaritan gave the car a jump since the attendant on duty didn't have a vehicle to do so. Doesn't matter how long you are a member. This company will screw you over ever freaking chance they get. I hope you're happy that you employ idiots that are not about helping the customer, but themselves. On October 26, 2018 at approximately 2:30 pm, we placed a call for roadside assistance. At approximately 3:05 pm a technician, Dominic, responded to our call. After having difficulty testing the battery (while he is a very nice young man, Dominic did not seem to know what he was doing), Dominic decided that our battery was bad and that we needed to put in a new one. Dominic proceeded to replace the battery which again, was a process. He claimed that our cable had a big build up on it that he had to knock off in order to get the new battery on. This was not true. Once that new battery was on (this process took approximately 20 minutes) he had us attempt to start the car.

We knew immediately that something was wrong, but he had us attempt it a few more times. That is when Dominic called in back up. We unfortunately did not get the name of the additional gentleman that came out. While they were under the hood trying to figure out what was wrong, the new gentleman pointed out that Dominic had the battery in backwards. In other words, he had hooked the negative cable to the positive terminal and the positive cable to the negative terminal. This can have lasting damaging effects on the vehicle.

After being alerted to this problem, Dominic attempted to put the battery in correctly to no avail. The car was damaged and would not start. This was a direct result of the actions of a AAA employee. Dominic was a stand-up guy and he admitted his mistake and that it was the reason that after the battery replacement the car still would not start. It should be noted that while he was testing the battery and had it hooked up to additional power, the car started just fine. It was now 5pm on a Friday. We were stranded 50 miles from home and were on our way out of town for a wedding. Dominic proceeded to call his manager to try to get a tow home at the cost of AAA as well as a rental car so that we could keep our trip to the wedding. AAA declined to pay for any of this stating that we could make a claim for reimbursement when we got home.

We called and made a claim immediately while we were still at the car that afternoon. Since it was after 5pm on a Friday, we had to scramble to get a rental car to continue our trip as well as wait another couple of hours for a new truck to come and tow the car home. At this point, our total out of pocket was approximately $775 ($150 for the battery that was fried, $440 for the tow back home, and $180 for the cost of the rental so we could continue our trip). On Monday, we had the car towed to our mechanic. As of Tuesday he confirmed that our entire fuse box was fried as well as the alternator. He also indicated that the battery that Dominic put in our vehicle was not the right battery for our vehicle in the first place. He could not give us more information until the alternator and fuse box were replaced so his computer could talk to the vehicles computer.

At this point, the car is sitting at nearly $2,000 and we are not sure that these are the only problems that this mistake has caused. We have made numerous attempts to reach someone since Monday, October 29th but it seems AAA refuses to even call us back to take care of this. We consider this a clear cut negligence claim. We are moving forward with the repairs to the car and we do anticipate additional charges. AAA's refusal to even engage will ultimately lead to a much bigger bill as we will seek reimbursement of legal fees if we are forced to engage our attorney who is on standby and has indicated that we do indeed have a case for negligence.

These guys suck! Incompetent, expensive and indifferent when I brought my vehicle back due to problems with their shoddy service. They installed new brakes and the day I collected the vehicle, as I was driving it away from AAA Lawrenceville, I could hear this horrendous grinding noise that sounded like rocks rubbing. I called and someone named Juan told me not to worry, the parts just need a few days to settle in. Like an idiot, I believed him! But took it back after 2-3 days. They managed to get the grinding noise to stop, but soon thereafter they began squeaking, same routine.

This happened repeatedly with regular trips back trying to get them to fix them properly once and for all. THEN, the last time the manager told me, "Everything is fine. Don't worry." I invited him to ride with me and hear the loud squeaking when I apply the brakes. He smirked smugly and told me he didn't need to hear it. His mechanic told him the brakes were fine! When I asked "really? are brakes supposed to make that horrible noise? Because I feel they shouldn't." He just smirked and said after so long they can't be responsible anymore!

I pointed out this problem started the day they made the repairs, but he just stood there staring at me, then said no, he was not going to fix the brakes. And don't get me started on the thousands I wasted on new struts at this place: They used parts of such poor quality that only a couple of years later they need to be replaced again (this after the originals lasted 160,000 miles). DON'T TAKE YOUR CAR HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO WASTE MONEY FOR SHODDY WORK.

He was unhappy with my explanation and started raising his voice in an angry fashion at me and I asked him to stop yelling at me. He then told me he had a sinus infection so it wasn't his fault and kept yelling at me. I again asked him to stop yelling at me and to lower his voice and he started walking away and said he didn't need to put up with this and he would call for another driver, threatening to leave me there without the tow. I called AAA dispatch and eventually he calmed down and towed the vehicle. So unnecessary and so unprofessional. I complained about him to his manager, Chris and also writing this online review. We have been members of AAA for years, on and off. We recently signed up again when we received temporary membership cards in the mail. We paid $87 for one year of coverage for myself and my son. A week after we sent our membership in, along with our credit card number, we actually needed their tow service, so we were extremely grateful that we had signed up!

Alas, our happiness was short lived. We called and explained the situation, and asked to be towed. The incompetent representative first told us that temporary cards were not valid. "Then why send them," I asked? She replied that it was more of a marketing technique. I then told her we had paid for a full membership and were just waiting on the permanent cards to come in. She then did us the "courtesy" of actually looking up our account, and found us in the system.

We thought wonderful, now we can get towed. No, not the case. She explained that since the membership charge had only gone through yesterday, we would not be able to be helped until the charge had gone through for a full 48 hours. Apparently even though everything had gone through, and the charge had cleared, it hadn't cleared for LONG enough?? It did not make sense in any way. We buy things with credit cards all the time and are able to walk out with our products without waiting for 48 hours.

So I asked the "helpful" representative if we were perhaps supposed to camp out with the car until the other 24 hours had elapsed. She said that we could still get a tow, but we would have to pay a $75 non-refundable fee to AAA. I said, "Well could the fee maybe be used as a credit towards a membership next year, if it's not refundable?" No. No, it could not.

At this point I was totally fed up and informed the representative that we would be getting a full refund on the AAA membership and would be looking elsewhere for roadside assistance. I have never had trouble with AAA in the past years I have utilized the service, and could not be more disappointed with them. My advice is go anywhere else, anywhere, besides AAA roadside "nonservice".

The facility also offered a whole treatment that was not needed. Only after my husband showed them he understand in cars they withdrawn from their original offer. The tow guys always have to call for an actual flatbed once they arrive; they always tell me that AAA sends out for what is least expensive to them, regardless of what the customer requests. Likely, it is because they know human nature often will just let it go due to necessity, time constraints, and frustration. I pay for the upgrade from the basic and really never use it except for the occasional tow. Every single time, like I said, and I've probably towed it three times in the last 2-3 years. Frustrating. AAA Incident September 5th, 2018. The morning of September 5th started off with an early call from my husband, who was out of town for school, telling me to pack up all of our important items from our home and leave town. This was because Hurricane Florence had just been upgraded to a Category 4 and was to make a direct hit on Myrtle Beach. After packing up our Land Cruiser with all these items and our two bulldogs I headed south with the idea of going to Stuart, Florida to join my husband. I had made it to Savannah, Georgia by about 5 pm where the Land Cruiser started smoking and overheating. I pulled off to the emergency lane of Interstate 95 and called my husband. He calmed me down and told me to call AAA. I did at 5 pm and the agent stated that they would have someone to me in 1 hr 45 min and they sent me a confirmation text message.

After waiting the allotted time and no help from AAA, I called my husband and asked him to call again. It was impossible for me to call and have a conversation since it was 90 degrees, the traffic was very heavy, I was unable to run the truck and my bulldogs were panting heavily from overheating. He did call them to let them know that I was alone on this extremely busy highway and they told him a wrecker was in route and would be there in 7 minutes. After that time passed, he called 2 more times and even spoke to a supervisor explaining that we were in a desperate situation and he states that help was on the way.

I waited another 15 minutes, still no roadside assistance, and called him back again. He asked if I had any water in the vehicle and I did since I had our dogs. He instructed me to carefully open the radiator, fill it up and start driving slowly to the nearest exit. Following his instructions I made it with making two stops to let the truck cool off and refilled the radiator. But the best part of AAA’s service was that I received the second text from AAA stating that Service will arrive by 10:41 PM!!! After that last text, nobody from AAA ever called or texted me to verify that I had been assisted. They did send me another text message at 10:41p stating that assistance was on the way!!!

What made this event more infuriating, during the time of my wait, two state patrolman and a road worker stop to ask if I needed assistance. I at that time told them that AAA was on their way, but thanked them for stopping. This all being said we are canceling our service immediately and making sure that we share our story with anyone else who believes that AAA will be there to help if they need assistance.

I switched to AAA from my previous insurer because I thought they were an upstanding, quality company that cared about doing right by their customers. Sadly, that has not turned out to be the case. Customer service has been woefully lacking in the branch location, over the phone, and through email. The first agent I was assigned to, aside from being generally incompetent and responding to emails with "I don't know," neglected to mention that there is an 18% APR assessed if the full premium is not paid in full at the beginning of the policy period. I've had Geico, Progressive, and Farmers - NONE of them did this, yet AAA tries to say this isn't abnormal. Yes... it is. 18% is ludicrous, but to not even mention it when selling a policy is a very bad way to start. So I found out about this about 6 months into the policy when the money was already in their hands and there was nothing to be done.

Furthermore, they now don't accept credit card payments - so they make paying the full balance more difficult and then charge 18% interest if you pay standard monthly payments. This feels predatory to me, and it leaves a very bad taste in my mouth in terms of trustworthiness and integrity of the company. Also, in my renewal packet, somehow my year first licensed date was changed to be 4 years later, which made a huge difference in my premiums. If I didn't review all of these financial documents with a fine-toothed comb (which I'd been alerted to do after the interest issue), I wouldn't have probably noticed that as it's in small print on the back of a page. How does that even happen? That sounds like something that would need to be manually changed. This makes me more skeptical of the company's integrity.

Oddly, after the year first licensed was corrected, one of my premiums went UP, even though I'd been licensed for 4 additional years. I'm not old enough for this to be a risk of injury issue, so this makes no sense at all. And when I ask for an explanation, no one can give me one except that they raised the rate... Right. That's what I just said... The question was WHY. And then they say, "Well, the rate went up."

Which leads me to my next point... Speaking to customer service reps is infuriating. I had to speak to at least 5 different people just to get an explanation that illuminated the 18% interest I'd been being charged when trying to find out what the premium would be for a new car I was buying. The reps can neither understand nor answer a direct question, and instead give answers like, "Well, the sky is blue because it's blue." I've also been told by the supervisors that they'd dig into an issue and get back to me, only to - surprise - have them never get back to me.

The times I've gone into the branch location in West Hollywood I've been disgusted by the poor level of service of the representative I was sent to (the same one twice somehow). She was rude, completely disinterested in my issue, and maddeningly unhelpful. So essentially... Poor service, predatory interest policy, and doesn't take reasonable payment methods... Here's hoping if I ever have to file a claim they handle THAT better than everything else. Maybe that would make all this other aggravation worth it... Maybe.

Battery, alternator, starter all fine. Second time battery, alternator and starter all fine. Dealer said I needed a new battery. I called AAA since the battery I had (from AAA) was under warranty. They came to dealer half hour later. Guy was rude and I think under the influence since he could not talk without slurring. He said his test showed the battery was fine so he couldn't replace the battery. I lost it!!! Slammed the hood of the car and drove it around to the front of the dealers again and got the battery replaced. I've been a member for 20 years. Really great customer service. NOT!!!

I have called AAA on July 6, 2018 because my 4 year old boy, my wife and I got stranded with a flat tire in Arizona in the middle of the wilderness on the way to Grand Canyon around 4 am on our way to see the sunrise at Grand Canyon. Unfortunately, there were no humans to be found and thankfully we had cell reception. When I called AAA, they said they will come in 90 minutes. However, they left us there in the heat for 5 hours!!! Didn’t even have the courtesy to call and tell us that they can’t find us. Finally, after 5 hours I called 911 and the Park ranger came and helped us. The worst part was, when the park ranger took us to the tire shop within Grand Canyon, an AAA service truck was in the tire shop which was about 10 minutes from where we were stranded!

Those guys said they never received a call from AAA! They also told me that they would have come if they had received a phone call and they know exactly where we were stranded if they had received a call. To make matters worse, when we called to make a complaint, AAA is not responding. It is almost October and they are avoiding to compensate! This could have been a life/death situation! They had my number and I kept calling and talking to the rep when we were stranded, but my final call after 5 hours, they said “You have been abandoned because our tow company could not find you”. Complete nonsense!

After receiving the initial draft of an itinerary, I contacted the agent by phone and emailed with questions on the limited one-hour layover time in a country where we would be going through customs, etc. I also had other questions regarding the itinerary. After hearing nothing back from the agent, I made an attempt to talk to another agent resulting in more calls over the past 30 days with a total of 8 phone calls, 3 emails, and 2 voice messages. I have had no return calls or emails in response to my concerns and frustration. The lack of communication and acknowledgment of my calls and concerns is the worst I have ever experienced. My car overheated and I was stranded on the side of the interstate for an hour waiting on their tow service and then when I Called to check on the 45 min- 1 hour wait time I was promised, they told me I wasn’t given a time and that it was going to be yet ANOTHER HOUR!!! They refused to give my money back for the membership so they Mr only left me stranded in the heat, but they stole my money as far as I’m concerned. Every time I have called them since 2008 (my membership is that old) they have gotten worse and worse and the wait times have been longer and longer. They can’t keep up with the level of membership they have then they don’t need to sell them.

So this is my 2nd time around with AAA. My first was excellent BUT little did I know, they did some SLICK marketing and did some COST saving analysis. SO I broke down and thought I would join them on my cell phone app...which I did...and I paid the annual free (SAME DAY). I next call them to get a tow, I get a person on the other side asking me which AAA I would like to be towed to, I said, "No thank you. I have another place." She then said which place within a 5 mile radius. I said, "HUH? I just paid to be a premier member or whatever." She said, "OH SORRY. There is a 7 DAY GRACE PERIOD BEFORE THAT KICKS in. After the 5 miles you will be charged???" I said, "WHAT??? YOU TOOK MY FUNDS OUT OF MY BANK TODAY!!! Not 7 days from now..."

SO the moral of the story...in the TINY FINE print there may be a clause about the waiting PERIOD but that is a joke. AAA knows most people need a TOW on the 1st day they JOIN. They also know you will probably need FOLLOW UP tows within a WEEK'S time...so NOW they have cleverly figured out a way to make MORE $$$...what a JOKE.

Finally after an hour of interrogation, I was “allowed” to update my account such as new address and phone numbers. After that I ask a renew notice to be sent as I do not want to give out my credit card or check number on the phone, then I am told I have to go to a AAA office to pay for that. I had to chase this woman a block-and-a-half to her house. It took almost a month for them to finally tell me that she spoke to them and denied anything even happened.

So because she was senile and couldn't remember even speaking to me... they decided that I was telling a lie, even though I provided specific facts regarding my claim. The lady even gave me her insurance card. They decided to tell me via email so they didn't have to call me. They did receive an interesting email from me and return. I was told if I came up with any witnesses they would reopen the claim. The operator damaged the positive terminal and also the battery assembly by pulling on the battery. My car had to be towed and the repairs cost me $919 dollars. I submitted a claim. The Claims Rep informed me that it was my fault for the damage because the battery was corroded. After over 20 years as a customer, this is how I am treated by blaming the customer for your operator’s lack of skill. I was promised return calls and emails, but they never did it. Five minutes into driving on spare tire and about to enter the fwy ramp to get to my mechanic, the car starts to rattle and my spare tire blows out as well!

Luckily I wasn’t on the fwy or I could’ve caused an accident or been in one! It was nerve-wracking to say the least! I drive my rattling car home and called customer service at AAA to tell them of my scary ordeal and all they had to say was that it wasn’t their responsibility and that the service people they send are not qualified to check spare tires!?? Isn’t that their job? To make sure they check safety measures when changing a tire?? If that’s not what they’re qualified for, why are they even there?

Long story short, I sent in emails and phone calls, all mounting to nothing. They even said their management will tell me the same...they’re not responsible for anything!! So may I ask, what exactly am I paying for at AAA? I called to cancel membership and they said it can’t be refunded because I’ve used their service! Seriously??? Service that could have caused an accident! Is this how AAA treat their customers? All I asked for was to cancel my membership and refund this year’s fee...and they won’t even do that? If I don't pay your bill there is a serious threat that my credit score will be damaged and you ** in corporate are counting on it aren't ya. Hello, I would like to inform every one of the service I received on 8/11/2018 approx 0930. I was on the I-5 southbound, towing our 5th wheel RV when we had a blowout on rear driver side of pickup truck. I pulled off to shoulder of freeway, disconnected 5th wheel to change my tire. (figured it would be quicker to do it myself). The blowout caused damage to my truck and electrical receptacle that 5th wheel plugs into. I drove 15 miles to nearest off-ramp in the city of Coalinga. There was one auto repair shop, where the mechanic was attempting to fix wiring on truck. He stated he needed RV to try to figure it out. So off to try to find tires. 45 mile round trip later, I go to pick up 5th wheel on freeway to take back to mechanic.

Trying to have a good attitude up to this point, this is when it went from bad to worse. Mechanic walked away because he can't figure it out. I have no brakes, no brake lights, turn signals, nothing. I can't tow 200 miles with no electrical or brakes. This is Saturday afternoon now, everything is shutting down. I'm running out of options, so I call AAA for help, since I have AAA plus RV 100 mile tow, maybe they can tow me to Bakersfield approx 90 mi away to get some help in a larger city. I get a call from tow driver stating he is 143 miles away and he doesn't think he has the right receptacle for the 5th wheel because he isn't familiar with RV's. I said I don't know what we are going to do then. I believe he probably canceled the tow at this point because he never showed up.

After a bit I call AAA back to see if we can get someone to tow us. I talked to probably 20 different people from AAA, one lady arguing that I didn't even have roadside RV. I received a text from AAA stating tow was going to be there at about 8;53 pm, then another text stating about 9;03 pm. At about 10;00 pm I called AAA to ask where tow was, and they said, "What tow?" They had nothing scheduled and showed nothing available to come to us. There we are at the side of a curb, never heard from AAA the rest of the night.

I started to jerry rig the wiring at about 6;30 am trying to get brakes and brake lights only while my wife was on phone with AAA. The lady my wife was speaking with stated the computer showed we cancelled the tow, that we ordered gas a couple times and cancelled them all and AAA tried to contact us numerous times. When my wife stated none of that was true, the lady said, "Interesting." and stated, "I think I see what's going on." We got pawned off like a hot potato more times than I care to remember. I have never had such horrible customer service from anyone, and nobody knew what they were doing or cared.

He informed her "NO" it was not drivable and he needed a TOW TRUCK. He was told it would take 2-3 hours before a tow truck could come. His Dad and I told him to have the car towed to a Tire Center that we've been customers of for several years.

We waited and waited for my son's phone call informing us that a tow truck had picked him up. I called him at 1:00 AM and asked what was going on. He informed me that they still hadn't sent out a tow truck and it would still be another 3 hours!!! My husband and I were livid! We've been customers with AAA for over 30 years. AAA informed us that they didn't have a tow truck available. We expressed our shock and told them it's not like we're in the middle of Iowa in a corn field or something! Our son was in a VERY dangerous situation, on a narrow DARK shoulder, with traffic whizzing by him at high speeds and his battery was dying and his flashers were becoming dim. My husband asked to speak to a manager and the manager finally said he could have somebody there by 3:00 AM. It was now 2:00 AM. FOUR hours had passed since the first call was placed by my son. He's still sitting there waiting.

My husband and I decide to drive out to him (we're visiting him from Texas and staying at a hotel). We drive out to him and give his car battery a jump since it's almost dead. My husband decides to stay with the car so my son can get some sleep since he is racing motorcycles the next day. The tow truck driver FINALLY comes at 4:00 AM. The driver informs my husband that AAA didn't even call him until 1:00 AM-he is their ONLY driver for that area and they didn't call him!!! He said AAA does this a lot and he's sick of it because the customers get mad at the drivers. It was a terrible experience with AAA. I do not even lay a screwdriver in the engine compartment. I said nothing. He jumped the battery and did a battery health test. He said the battery was bad. I told him I cannot buy a battery at this time. He then left. I closed the hood. The hood would not latch. The heavy jumper had bent horizontal the vertical hook that locks down the hood. I bent the hook vertically again and the hood latched when closed.

That heavy equipment should never have been set in an engine compartment. I take exceptional care of my car. I have emailed the AAA corporate office, the West Tampa office and several other corporate offices. None bothered to answer. They need to train their employees to take care of the property of others! On Saturday (August 18, 2018). I called AAA regarding my son's Honda Civic which had broken down in Melrose, Massachusetts. We were parked on the street next to a hospital. My wife, my son and myself have AAA +. I called AAA at 5:45 pm. I was told that the truck would be there by 8:25 pm. I told them that I thought that was an inordinate amount of time. They said that this was a range, and they expected the truck sooner. The truck didn't arrive until almost 8:30 pm. When the drivers arrived, I told them that the transmission appeared shot in the car. I based this on the fact that the car would start and rev, but it would not move. I mentioned that the car would initially move but after a few minutes it would stop. The drivers moved the car back and forth on the street, and then opened the hood.

They told us that the problem was that "too much air" was getting to the engine. They tightened a hose and told us that the car was fine to drive home. I objected and said that my concern was that it would work for a few minutes and then break down. They insisted that it was fine. They left, and I followed my son in my car. About a mile away, when we were entering an on ramp to route 93 (in Stoneham), his car stopped. I was forced to back up. Because of the traffic, it was necessary for me to back on to a sidewalk next to the ramp. THIS DAMAGED MY MUFFLER. Some good Samaritans came by and helped us to push the car across the street into a restaurant parking lot.

I immediately called AAA and told them what I just indicated to you. They apologized and said that they would get someone there immediately. At 9:08 pm I received a call from 401-868-2000, the person identified themselves as being from AAA. They said that the truck would be delayed, and that we should leave the keys under the matt in the front seat. She said we could leave and that the car would be delivered where we originally requested it. We did as she asked and left. The end result of this is that my car in now damaged.

I have been a member of AAA since 1984. This is by far the worst service I have received from AAA. My car is damaged, and I will need to get a new muffler. Under the circumstances I believe that it would be appropriate for AAA to compensate me for the cost of the repair. I sent the above not to AAA. They responded with an email asking me to call them. They left a phone number and a contact name. I told the woman that I thought that I should be reimbursed. She told me to send her a picture of the damage and a copy of the bill. I emailed her both. I was not able to reach her for a time.

Eventually she called me (on Wednesday, August 29th). She informed me that she misunderstood my email and that they would not pay for the damage. I expressed to her my outrage, in late of her previous comments. Needless to say, after 36 years as a member of AAA, this will be my last. I recommend that readers of this look at some of the alternative road services (including AARP). You may be pleasantly surprised.

I had to rehash the entire situation and was told that basically nothing could really be done until the AM (okay I get it was a Sunday but they were not helpful at all). Rep assured me that since I had to get home (ended up taking my relatives car) that my brother could meet with the AAA service employee the next day and be "the agent" since I had to drive an hour home so I could go to work the next day.

Called the next day to inform them my brother was at the house where my car had broken down and they said I had to be with my car and were very rude to me asking "Why aren't you with the car" (um because I have to work). She said she would have to confirm I could have him be present when AAA tow got there (on hold for longer). Was told that was okay but she needed to speak to him so I gave her his number (put on hold again) then told he didn't answer. I asked if she could give me a minute to text him to inform him a 800 or unknown number was going to call him (usually he doesn't pick up random calls) and she told me no that she had to hang up because she had other people to help. HELLO??! She was suppose to be helping me.

So my car is STILL where it broke down almost 24 hours ago with no help from AAA and all 3 reps I spoke to were horrible (1 hung up on me 1 told me information which I then told was incorrect and 1 was rude and acted like I was a terrible person for having to leave my car to get to my job/hometown which was an hour away). I never write reviews but this is ridiculous. Having worked in customer service for a good portion of my life I cannot believe the inconsistent answers I have gotten from AAA, the rude attitudes from the employees and the utter lack of HELP from a ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE company which I pay a good price for. 0/10 would recommend.

I needed a tow from Santa Cruz to the Santa Cruz mountains and they told me they could not do it. They claimed it was because highway 17 (the major 4 lane highway connecting Santa Cruz to San Jose) was a dirt road. Never in my life did I think I would lose a battle over a government commuter highway was paved or not. Not to mention I was on the phone with them or waiting for a call from them for over 6 hours before they decided highway 17 was not paved.

We blew out a tire on a busy section of highway. We reported when we called AAA that we were in a dangerous location. 1 hour later an AAA representative showed up, said he had been given the wrong address, and told us it was too dangerous of an area for him to change the tire. He said he would call us a tow truck. Two more hours and three more calls to AAA, we are still sitting on the highway waiting. The representatives are always very apologetic, but can’t seem to assist. We are in a metropolitan area on a Saturday in the middle of the day. It shouldn’t be this difficult. The representative told us they had the wrong address again. :/ Not sure how they can claim world class service!

I have an expensive but worthless family membership that includes my brother. Last night he was driving with a friend to a concert in Philadelphia, a distance of about 150 miles. Both are near 70 years old and the friend has cancer. The concert was to be a pleasant distraction from his problems. Outside of Philadelphia, he experienced brake problems and pulled into a parking lot. Not wanting the friend to miss an event he had looked forward to for months and spent a lot of money on tickets, I called Uber to take them to the concert and AAA to arrange a tow home afterward. This was at about 7:30 p.m. I was told a tow could not be scheduled in advance and to call back when they were at the car.

At 12:30 a.m. I put in an online request for service and received notice that a tow truck from H&J Towing would arrive at 1:32. At 1:32 a message appeared that the truck had been redirected. I called AAA and was told no trucks were available to go that far so late at night. I pointed out I had try to arrange service earlier and asked why I hadn't been informed of the problem when I submitted a request over an hour before. The dispatcher had no answer, nor sympathy. The tow truck arrived at 7:10 a.m. and it didn't take a credit card for the $ 4-mile extra distance fee. The claim of 24/7 roadside is assistance is a lie and will leave sick old men broken down all night.

AAA arrived I was in the house with my physical therapist, told him what I did and to put the battery in, knocked on the door and came in. I gave him my membership and credit card plus $10.00, I signed the receipt and he was gone. Upon looking at the receipt I noticed “labor intensive installation”. Bear in mind I’m handicapped and I had no problem accessing the battery, but after calling AAA they were told the guy had trouble accessing the battery!!! “CAN YOU SAY RIP OFF?” I’ll never use AAA again!!!

The last claim I made was for water damage and they doubled my yearly premium based on just one claim and increased my deductible from $500 to $2000 though I replaced all the plumbing that could cause any future water damage. That's not the worst part. They just recently gave me 45 days notice that they were cancelling my home insurance policy after 30 years based on new underwriting guidelines that put my home too close to homes in a high fire risk area, though my home is blocks away from any brush.

I have lived in the same house for 30 years with zero claims for fire damage, and suddenly my home is too near brush to insure? And I am on a normal paved street in an urban neighborhood in Orange County, CA within 1.5 miles of a fire station. An aerial view of my home by Farmers Insurance was enough to demonstrate to my new agent that my home was not in a high fire risk area and they readily insured my home at a lower premium. Thank you Farmers. I will be cancelling my auto insurance and my roadside assistance with AAA because they do not honor customer loyalty.

I've tried adding the umbrella policy to my digital account but it keeps saying "not found". Information is correct. Yes, I'm doing the process correctly.

When requesting roadside assistance, I have had experiences where they arrive within less than 30 minutes and other time frames where it takes like 2+ hours to get to you. We gave up and just called a local towing company and forward them the bill for reimbursement. Not all AAA tow truck drivers are friendly. I've had a couple experiences where they just plow through traffic trying to get to destination. Recklessly driving and profanely driving. I've reported each of them but this is what I'm paying for?

Our service ticket was sent to the wrong dispatch area and we never received any notification from AAA nor the dispatch provider of the extreme delay nor that nobody was coming. We even told AAA we're dangerously on the side of a major freeway, that it was dark out, and large trucks were speeding downhill within a couple feet of us -- and we had children present. This is preposterous. Why we're not notified service never dispatched? Why did nobody contact us about the extreme time delay - esp when we were on dangerous freeway-side? We called for a tow truck on 7/12/18 to take my car from our house to the dealership to be worked on. The transmission fluid was drained completely from the car so we could not physically drive it. When the tow truck arrived, the driver was informed of the situation (and even made jokes about how it occurred). There was also a sign taped to the steering wheel stating there was no transmission fluid so the car could not be started. The driver got the car onto the truck (without starting the car) no problems. Between leaving our house and arriving to the dealership, he forgot that he could not start the car (and obviously was not paying attention to the sign right in front of his face). He went to remove the car from his truck and proceeded to start the car, realizing right away what he did. Unfortunately it was too late and the damage was done. My less than 2 year old car now needs a new transmission after being inspected by the dealership.

We called AAA right away and started a claim. The lady in the claims department was anything but helpful. She would not return our phone calls or emails and even after getting in touch with a manager, she still didn't call us back. When we finally were able to talk to her, she claimed there was nothing they could do but also admitted that she had not talked to the tow truck driver or the inspector who was supposed to go look at the car (how can you make a decision without all the facts?). We even had a video showing the headlights turning on while the car was on the tow truck, but because there was no sound, they dismissed it.

AAA claims there is not enough evidence to prove that starting the car is what damaged the transmission. Like I stated before, my car is less than 2 years old, in great condition, with no issues before. The way AAA handled this was so disappointing. They stated that if we wanted to fight it further, we would have to contact the tow truck company directly since it was a 3rd party company that did it. I don't understand how that works since we called AAA to complete the tow and they decided to contract the work out to a 3rd party company. It's nice to know they are so willing to wipe their hands of any wrongdoing just because "there isn't enough evidence". I would think a company would want to salvage a customer relationship (I've been a member for almost 15 years and I have my car insurance through AAA). Beware if you ever have a 3rd party tow truck company show up when you call AAA. Better hope nothing goes wrong...

Saturday July 29th there were 12 adults and 4 dogs returning to Southern California from Tahoe, we had two motorhomes, and an Excursion in our caravan. Marge who is in her late 70s was one of the owners of one of the motorhomes in the caravan, due diligence was completed prior to our vacation and a tune up was completed on the rig that I will be speaking of. Marge has been a Gold cardholder with AAA for 37 years, she has always made her yearly payments of some $200 dollars give or take, she had never had to use the tow service until this day.

About an hour outside of Tahoe, the motorhome was not running correctly, we pulled off into a parking lot and the men on the trip started to diagnose and get under the motorhome to try and fix it, after 3 hours and multiple phone calls to mechanics and trying different scenarios, it was determined that it was beyond their scope. At that time we made our first attempt to contact AAA, they let us know that they would try to get someone out to us in 80 min since they could not use the 400 miles due to the difficulty of the tow, hmmm they stated that if they chose to do that option it would cost us $6000 to get the rig home, yes I typed that correctly. We then waited for the 80 min to get a tow to a repair shop in the small town we had broke down in.

Mind you it is 100 degrees outside and there are 12 of us and 4 dogs... After about 20 min they called back and stated that they could not help us at all that the one shop that could help us was on a call so we could try back again tomorrow! WOW is all I could say, so you take my mom's money every year, and the one time a 78 year old needs your help you tell her, "No, maybe tomorrow." I asked to speak to a supervisor, and was transferred to Jason employee ID# ** from UTAH! He also stated that he could do nothing for us, I said that was unacceptable and it is. My mom has paid over $7,400 to the company in the last 37 years never using their services and they gladly accepted the money then when she needs them they are unable to help her. They stated we could find our own tow company and they would reimburse, I again am speechless.

I think it is horrible that they get away with this kind of treatment, it should be illegal to sell a service and collect money if you cannot provide the service you are selling. I am filing this complaint as well as a complaint with AAA and asking for reimbursement of all the money for the last 37 years. What could have happened if my mom was by herself, how unacceptable is this company's behavior... We will all be canceling our memberships and will advise all of our friends to do the same... We did find a company to tow to a repair shop, they came within 30 min of our call, now why could AAA not do that, they are supposedly able to serve all of California... I am deeply upset with this company. The tow company in the picture helped us and they were very nice, nothing like AAA.

LUCKILY and thank to god (3 hours later) a Highway Patrol stopped and helped me jump start the truck. I was waiting in the blazing heat for 3 hours. I had an accident on Tuesday 7/25, on Wednesday 7/26 I dropped my car off at the body shop and Enterprise picked me up. I was given a Ford Fusion hybrid. I drove the car approximately 35 miles to friends place. At 4 pm I got into the car and was driving in 50 mph traffic when a warning message popped up on the dash saying "stop safely now". The vehicle promptly shut off while I was moving, trucks are whizzing by at 50, cars going even faster and I'm stopped in the fast lane. I push the car out of traffic into a driveway, keeping in that I'm 58 years old, I've had a heart attack and 3 back surgeries, and call Enterprise roadside service.

The temperature in Phoenix on Wednesday 7/25 was 118 degrees and I had half of a 1 liter bottle of water. Enterprise roadside advised me it would take 75 minutes for a tow truck to arrive and 3 to 5 hours bring another car, there was no location that could pick me up at that time of day, that was 4:13 pm. By the way the provider for enterprise roadside service is AAA of Arizona. At 5:37 I locked the car up, called my stepson and asked him to pick up his mom, took everything that was mine out of the car, grabbed my cane and started walking home. To say I was mad doesn't even come close to describing how I felt. It took me just over 3 hours to limp 12 miles home through some of the worst neighborhoods in Phoenix. While still hoofing it home I called Enterprise roadside at 7:00 pm and told them to bring me a car, again I was told 3 to 5 hours. I told them I was okay with that I would be at home waiting.

At 10:00 pm Enterprise roadside called me and told me the broken car had been picked up by AAA and taken to the airport and they were picking up a car to bring to me. When I hung up the phone it immediately rang, I picked up and it was the AAA tow truck driver telling me he was at the airport and where was I so he could tow me home. I told the driver he was there to pick up a car from Enterprise and bring it to me, the driver was confused and said he had to talk to dispatch and hung up on me. I called Enterprise at the airport and they had no idea what was going on and had not been contacted by anyone about this situation. I then called Enterprise roadside again and told them that 3 hours had passed and I expected a car delivered to me in the next 2 hours, they had no record of me ever talking to them. I stayed up til 1:20 am, no car.

I went to bed and got up at my usual 5:00 am, at 6:00am AAA called with an automated message telling me they would be to my broken down vehicle 25 to 30 minutes. I hung up and 2 minutes later the phone rang, AAA was advising me they would be to my broken down car in 30 to 45 minutes. I called Enterprise roadside again. They said that they would call the local rental office to get me picked up. They called me back when the office opened and told me they couldn't pick me up. There were not enough people in the office. At this point my wife called an Uber that arrived at my house in 3 minutes, I had to scramble to get out the door.

When I got to the local Enterprise office there were 5 people there not counting the guys out back washing cars! After a 30 heated argument about a replacement with Brazil ** who was more concerned about the car I broke down in 16 hours previously corporate managed to convince her to give me a car. So after 16 hours and almost 60 phone calls I finally got a car, got my wife to work 3 hours late which lost her her overtime for the day. I'm now driving an under powered Toyota Corolla that gets really bad gas mileage and has a cracked windshield but at least I haven't had to walk home again. Thank you to Enterprise Roadside assistance and AAA of Arizona you were less than useless!!!

I tried to have my car towed on Friday AFTER the office was close and they told me I had to only tow it 5 miles because I had the basic membership and had to wait until Sunday to tow it further because people cancel their memberships too often after a tow so the policy makes them wait 3 days. Today July 13th I received a new bill from AAA in AZ indicating payment due twice the amount with notification that membership would lapse without immediate payment due on July 13th. I called the customer service # to inquire why the bill when I had already paid and had received a new card for the year. I was told that once I left CA, and though they are a "National" business, the membership was void, and that AZ would require a new membership fee. I asked if they could simply send my payment for the amount to the AZ office since I had paid 2 months in advance for the year, to which they replied that was impossible, and that a check might be sent to me in 7-10 days once a supervisor could be found on Monday.

When I asked if I could speak with a supervisor, and here is what I was told. Due to the fact that it was Friday and going on 2pm no one else was available to speak to. When I tried calling the AZ office, the line was never answered so the membership terminated. So if you or a loved one is traveling across the CA border anywhere and thinks that you are covered by AAA, this is the process that AAA uses. Remember that though they are a "National" business, their business stops at the CA state line. This level of customer service should be brought to the attention of CEO, Mr. Robert L. Darbelnet, unfortunately his email address is not available, corporate address=1000 AAA Dr. Heathrow, FL. 32746. It is interesting that they have 1 CEO for the "National" business, yet will not cover you if you cross state lines. AAA gets a FFF rating.

My car recently would not start after a 12-hour overnight shift. The first AAA truck to come carried batteries but the battery tested good. A second AAA truck came that could tow my car. The response time for both trucks was good. The problem was both men referred me to a AAA repair shop they could take my car to. I trusted that the shop would be a good one since it is associated with AAA. The tow truck driver dropped me at my house and then took the car to a place called Galaxy auto repair in San Antonio Texas. After getting a couple hours of sleep, I looked up this repair shop to look at reviews online. Horrible reviews (2 Star Repair Shop). It turns out the tow truck company that came to help me is in the same place as Galaxy auto repair. I called AAA back and told them I wanted my car taken somewhere else. I found a place close to my house that has good reviews.

AAA called the tow truck company back and was told by the tow truck company that my car would have to be towed the next morning because the place I wanted it taken had no key drop off for a Sunday afternoon. I had to wait until Monday morning to get my car towed to the shop near my house. The shop does have a key drop off so the car could have been taken Sunday afternoon even though the shop was closed. I wrongly assumed that since the AAA drivers suggested Galaxy that it would be a good shop. On my way to the new shop Monday morning someone from Galaxy called me and asked me why I wanted my car taken somewhere else. The man told me he could get the car fixed and towed to me so I wouldn't have to get a ride to come pick it up. I still went with the new shop. I always thought that AAA researched and passed on recommendations to their customers that were respectable places of business.

My wife & I have been a AAA member for over 30 years and I have often bragged to friends and family what a great service it is. Christmas presents in 2017 for my 3 adult children and spouses was AAA memberships along with my explanation that if you have a cell phone you or your wife never have to worry about being stranded in the middle of nowhere. About 1 month or so later during a snow storm my son slipped off the road in his car. It was at this point that AAA made me into a liar. He called them and they sent out a wrecker. We live in and area where snowstorms are not uncommon.

After about an hour my son received a callback from them in which they told him they had cancelled the wrecker because it was unable to get to him because the wrecker did not have 4 wheel drive. They advised him that he could call a wrecker on his own and they would reimburse him for his costs. Lucky for him, a guy in a beat up old Subaru station wagon happened by and pulled him out.

I have contacted AAA several times about what happened but have basically been told, too bad and we don't plan on changing our policies to avoid such a thing from happening again. My AAA membership ends in August 2018 and I will not be renewing. My 3 adult children will be encouraged by me to follow my lead and go to a competitor for Real Roadside Emergency Services. Boy, has the world has changed. I remember when any company worth its weight would work with its customers to make their company better and their customers served, neither is going to happen in this case.

With that said this will be the fourth consecutive year that I have to replace the battery purchased and installed through AAA. Even though I've decided not to renew my membership they should still honor the warranty. They sell cheap batteries and charge you for road service when they die. This is unacceptable and it is misleading to the consumer. I am beyond disappointed.

Having been a AAA Premier Plus member for over 35 yrs. without any problems we thought it was a no-brainer to sign up for their RV coverage when we bought our 27' travel trailer and after being told by the agent that all services provided for our vehicles would also apply to our RV (including the 200 mile tow) we added that coverage. A week ago as we were heading home on Hwy 395 about 5 miles from June Lake area our tow vehicle had a flat tire, no problem, we have AAA so we pulled over and got out to check just as a CHP pulled up behind us as did our sons who we travelled with. As they approached from behind the trailer they commented that we had bigger issues than our vehicle tire because it appeared that one of the trailer tires had blown a bearing seal as there was grease all over the rim. While dismayed we weren't worried because we have AAA RV coverage. The CHP officer called for a tow and was told it would be about an hour.

OK, we understood that where we were at would require some time so our sons went about changing the tire on our tow vehicle so we could follow the tow truck into the closest town for repair which would be Bishop and we began our wait in their trailer because it was very hot outside. About an hour later the CHP returned to let us know that there was no tow vehicle coming, they couldn't find one! During our wait our sons had determined that there was some significant damage so putting the tire back on wasn't going to be an option so now what? Here we are stranded on the side of a major freeway with no way to get our trailer off the road. Thank god for our sons who figured out how to tie up the axle and then followed us as we limped the 40+ miles to Bishop where we had found a great shop, A&L Tire Automotive, who would be able to get us in and fix our trailer.

Lo and behold once there it was determined that the damage was far more severe than originally thought and due to parts, etc. it would probably be a week before they could get to it. So, we again called AAA (we are now 229 miles from home) and after 10 minutes of explaining that we had a "bumper pull travel trailer" and not the "Class A or B or C" the customer service agent insisted on calling our RV she said she would get back to us with dispatch information. After 5 hours (and multiple calls to them) they finally called back to let us know they had found a "low-boy" to tow our trailer however they would charge us for anything over 100 miles (the nearest town big enough to be able to repair the vehicle in was well over 100 miles away). I couldn't believe what I was hearing because we were told by AAA that all "premium plus" benefits would carry over to our RV when we signed up for RV coverage and our premium plus includes a 200 mile tow.

Being 229 miles from home we figured we would be happy to pay for the additional 29 miles but that 129 mile tow would have cost us $1200.00! Needless to say we limped home, an 8+ hr. journey. My complaints with AAA are two-fold: 1. Every person I have spoken with that has AAA Premium Plus RV coverage was told the same thing we were; our Premium Plus benefits carry over to the RV which would include the 200 mile tow. Every person was shocked to hear it didn't.

    2. Most importantly is this; we are paying for extra coverage for our RV's to AAA for service yet they don't have vendors with the appropriate equipment to tow any RV from a Class A, B or C to a 5th wheel or even a 27' bumper pull travel trailer. We were stuck on a major highway in the heat of the day with vehicles, trucks, etc. blowing by us at 65+ mph and if our sons hadn't been with us who knows how long we would have sat there. So, if AAA can’t even provide the equipment to tow an RV let alone honor what services they told us we are entitled to, what are we paying for?

However this last time they completely and entirely let me down when my car broke down on the way to work and I was stranded on the side of the road. Between the automated phone service (a real person used to answer) and finally getting an obviously NOT Colorado-based customer service rep. on the line who could NOT figure out my location despite me calling out every landmark and cross street within a 2 mile radius (the buggy AAA app I was directed to could not detect my phone's GPS either), all in all it took nearly 45 minutes to put in a service call for a tow, then an additional 2.5 hours for the tow to actually arrive. That is horrendous service!

I was told I could not cancel AAA mid-year when I called to complain, so I grudgingly waited until the renewal came up to more than happily get rid of that added worthless expense. Anyway, I was in need of roadside service yesterday and recalled I do pay for roadside for less than $2 bucks a month on my auto insurance, so I pulled out my insurance card and dialed the number. Voila!! I was able to place the service request in less than 5 minutes and was told someone would be there within 35 minutes and he got there in less than 10. Best service EVER. We said we either needed a tow or assistance with replacing the blowout with the spare. We called back again to make sure she knew that it was a normal passenger size tire.

After an hour with no response we called back to check on progress and we're told that she could not get any tow companies to come for our RV. She had described our vehicle as a motorhome requiring a much larger tow truck, when all we really needed was someone with a tire wrench. Finally after 4 hours a nice man in a pickup truck from one of the tow companies showed up and helped us install the spare tire. He told us that he expected to see a big motorhome with large commercial truck tires, and was told a wrong location as well. Ronnie from Antis Roadside Service was great, but AAA made a bad situation worse. I can no longer recommend them to anyone who needs roadside assistance.

We have been loyal AAA subscribers for 16 years. That’s $1600 and we have never used the service. That is $1600 to the bottom line. Pure profit. We have only requested assistance two times during the past 16 years. The operative word being “requested”. We never received promised services upon which legal tender was paid… Hmm. That’s interesting. It reminds me of a Seinfeld episode in which Jerry reserved a rental car and, when he arrived at the airport, the rental car company did not have a car of which to rent… In Jerry’s words, “It’s easy to take a reservation, anyone can take a reservation. The key is to HOLD the reservation.”

Two years ago, I called to get a flat tire changed. It was in a seedy part of town at an even seedier gas station. Two and a half hours later, AAA kept promising me service within 20 minutes. Light at the end of the tunnel. A tow truck finally pulls up, about an hour after dusk. Alas, it was not AAA. He noticed that I was in need of assistance. He said that he did not take AAA because it was a terrible company and did not pay well. Not enough to even cover expenses. Disorganized and disreputable, even. He would help me out for $50 cash. I look in my wallet… $40. It was the day after Thanksgiving and he was full of ** and pumpkin pie… lucky for me. I was on my way home. Very kind man and, if you are reading this, thank you.

Today, June 22, 2018. Our Honda Odyssey breaks down in our driveway. We need to have it towed to the dealership because it was inoperable. Two and a half hours later, only excuses and no results. It’s getting late, we’re tired, need to get the van to the service station because we need to get it fixed ASAP. Any luck? More excuses and lame attempts at “customer service”. I ask for a full refund for a year. They are dismissive and uncaring. We cancel the service and handle the problem ourselves. A local company arrives within 20 minutes. $65 later, we resolved the problem.

What if my wife had been in a bad part of town? What if she were on the side of the highway? What if my kids AND my wife had been in danger? AAA would have threatened their safety and security. This is atrocious, despicable and deplorable. AAA should be investigated by the Better Business Bureau. I believe they will find a treasure trove of corruption. AAA gladly took our money. Unfortunately, they were unwilling to pay local towing services on our behalf when we were in dire need. Shame on you, AAA. You are deplorable.

They refused to connect me with roadside service because the tire wrapped around the axle wasn’t “covered” by their garbage “ classic” plan.

This left me in a dangerous position as I only had water for about five hours in that heat. I could not unload the horses on a busy highway. My wife remembered we had AmEx coverage and while the service wasn’t covered they connected me with a service truck and got help within the hour. I have RV plus coverage. Blown radiator, stuck in a little town after dropping my SxS off for recalls. AAA won't cover picking up my trailer because it doesn't have the RV in it... Wth? I got the coverage because they told me anything I pull behind my truck would be covered. Well, apparently that's not the case. Small clause says RV must be on the trailer, yet they will pick up a boat trailer or motorcycle trailer empty, per a supervisors words??? I spoke to about 8 different people, all had different reasons of why my trailer wasn't covered (We don't cover utility trailers, must have living quarters, must be a camper style, etc.). All the people are incompetent! Had my first ticket canceled and didn't know why. Waited 3 hours for nobody to show up. I called the driver, he said they canceled it. Called AAA, the lady canceled the whole ticket when I told her that I was going to leave my trailer and come back for it.

I guess she assumed I'd not want my truck and 2 passengers picked up. Had to start a new ticket when I called back. From 11:00 am-4:30 pm I was stranded. When the 2nd driver showed up, he didn't know he was picking up passengers. AAA did not tell him that. We had no room, but wasn't going to wait longer. So we rode in the driver's truck unsafe (sitting on top of each other) with no seat belts. Finally got home around 6:00 pm that night all because of a trailer and stupid, no knowledge, untrained AAA employees!!! How would they feel if that was them stuck.

I would hope they would not want to be treated the way I was. I think it's ridiculous to have half coverage on something I pull behind me (covered when RV is on, not covered if I drop it off to get serviced). That clause needs to change, especially if I can prove that I just dropped it off less than a block down the road. I've been with AAA for 7 years and have never needed to use a tow truck... Thank God for that because it's the worst service, communication, provider ever!

However, I was happily surprised when the AAA agent on the phone was extremely nice, helpful, and efficient. She dispatched someone right away. The driver came in under 30 mins and was able to help me in under 5 mins. In a world where customer service is undervalued, it was so nice to deal with people who care, and who understand how to work in timely manner. Smiling at someone and having a friendly attitude mean so much. Even a small problem was considered. Would recommend Triple A to any of my friends. Thank you so much!!!

When I called again, a male CS answered and he is not very helpful in providing the reason why my insurance went up from $143/mo to $172/mo. He just said, "All insurance rates are going up." I have no tickets, I have good driver discount and I have home insurance with Triple A but still, the rates went up. Time to leave Triple A.

AAA service is ludicrous at best. If you live in a small town, you're going to have at least a 1 to 3 hour wait for assistance. I've had to use them occasionally for the last several years and I'm now looking around for a more reputable service. I had to call for help 5/29/18 for a flat tire. There was nowhere to pull off the road so I had to park right there in the lane. Cars had to go around my car. When I dialed the AAA I had to press too many numbers to get to a real person. If you don't input your 16 or 17 number membership number, you get bumped back. I'm not as fast as some and it took me three attempts to actually reach a real person.

After describing my exact location and situation (flat tire) I was asked to hold the line while she "tried" to find someone. Since this is a small town and the only "someone" is a very small auto/wrecker repair shop that has perhaps one employee. About 10 minutes of waiting for the woman to get back to me, I was told that I would have to wait over an hour for the local man to come to my aid, and to wait by the car while she called someone else to see if they could help. From a past experience, the someone else is a good hour and a half drive from my town.

I had my son call my town's AAA assistant and was told that it would be at least an hour and some minutes before he could come help me. Thank goodness, a young man stopped and came to my assistance. I'd been waiting in the heat for at least 45 minutes before he offered to change my tire. I let him, got his name, and am very grateful for his help. As for AAA, I will not be renewing my account when it comes due again. Horrible service.

I have never felt so let down and unsupported as a member of a group in my life. My experience was so bad I thought maybe I was being recorded as a joke or something. My car was undrivable in rural Michigan at a camp festival site prior to Memorial Day. No rental cars were available due to the holiday and no mechanics were open either. I was at the site for 3 days until I could get help. I upgraded my membership since I was stuck and it kicked in on the 3 edition day so I could get back home at a better rate due to a need for a tow. Camping out in 100 degrees alone. Finally I call for the fifth time to arrange my rescue and some snarky girl who can't even speak English tells me they don't do "tows" - really? triple AAA? You do - and it was a roadside assistance call.

I had to ask for another representative and jump through every barrier they had in place to stop me from spending their money on getting me back home safe. Triple AAA stands for Automobile Accounting Association. It's not worth a dollar. And it's playing with people's safety by creating a false sense of security while traveling alone. God forbid a senior who is not as sharp minded as myself needs help on a dark isolated highway. Good luck! #liers #nastyassociation.

AAA did not submit the SR22 until the 17th of May, causing a lapse in our coverage, and causing DMV to suspend John's driver's license. The agent Shelly and her supervisor were unsupportive, and stated they did everything they were supposed to do. They passed the buck to us and DMV as the problem. This, however, was not the case. DMV stated emphatically that AAA should have sent the SR22 right away, not 13 days later. We are very dissatisfied with the service we received from AAA. This issue was caused by AAA, yet they denied being at fault and refused to help us. So sad.

I received a few calls indicating that someone would be on their way. I waited, and waited. No one ever showed up. I have the Premier membership too.

Finally, I ended up calling a towing firm in the area and they were there within 30 minutes. No hassle. I did spend $80.00 but, it was worth it because I was out in the heat and I have heart problems so, I figured it was a great deal. I called 3 times to complain to AAA but, in each case, they refused to let me speak to a supervisor. They never offered to reimburse me for the tow truck either. They acted like they didn't care at all. Needless to write, I won't be renewing next year. I have my life insurance through them and I am canceling that out too.

AAA FAVORS CRIMINALS OVER THAT OF A LOYAL CUSTOMER OF OVER TWO DECADES. Doss' Towing lied to AAA, stating that he provided me with a jump start when he actually installed a battery, not the one recommended by AAA (he stated that he didn't have that one, but he just happened to have another one that would be just as good, but it cost almost $50 more). He printed out a fake ticker tape with a false serial number and applied a AAA sticker on the battery. The serial number on the battery did not match the one on the ticker tape. I did not realize all of this until April of this year when the battery kept losing its charge.

AAA kept telling me that I did not purchase a battery from them because there was no record of the transaction in their files. So, I just imagined all of this, right? They came so close to accusing me of running a scam. My credit card statement shows that the guy charged the money directly to his towing company. AAA refuses to do anything about the situation, stating that it is too late. Oh, my goodness. He gets away with committing a crime. AAA had the audacity to ask me if I wanted to renew my membership.

I've been an AAA member since 1973 and this is the first time I have been disappointed with their road service. My policy is for cars and trailers which I added at an extra cost because I did not want to be stranded on the road if I had a flat on the trailer. I requested service to change a flat tire on the trailer I was towing. After giving them the information about my 5th Wheel RV I was told that none of their service agents had the equipment to change the tire. This is on a simple two axle trailer that can be lifted with a 3 ton jack. Instead I was offered a tow at a cost of several hundred dollars out of my pocket.

Now you would think that it would be easier to change a tire than to tow a pick up truck and trailer to the shop. After waiting for over one hour and being refused service the CHP escorted me out of the freeway where I parked on a side street. There I called Les Schwab for help and they sent a service truck to change my tire. It took the serviceman 15 minutes to change my tire and I was on my way. I had to pay for this service and now I hope that AAA reimburses me for this cost. I am in the process of checking other road service companies and then I will cancel my AAA account.

I contacted the AAA of the Carolinas and was told I had to wait 10 days for the policy to be in effect for Roadside assistance on the Premier policy which is the most expensive policy. It doesn't make any sense to me that the most expensive policy would have the longest waiting period. I am baffled that AAA acts differently state by state with membership terms and conditions. If I was in CA I could have the waiting period waived and or pay a $16.00 fee. The customer service representatives with AAA of the Carolinas would not make any waivers on my behalf.

Last year, in August, my daughter was driving back home with my ex-wife. when her car broke down. My daughter called AAA for assistance as they were in a location that was not close to any businesses, and it was extremely hot that day. AAA told my daughter they would be there within 20 minutes. After twenty minutes had passed, she called again, and they said they would be there soon. This went on for two hours!! The AAA serviceman finally showed up, unapologetic. They told my daughter 4 different times they would be there shortly, and my daughter and ex were stuck in triple degree heat for two hours!! They towed the car, and the problem was fixed, but I could not believe AAA let my daughter cook in the hot mid-day sun without explanation or apology.

I called and filed a complaint, 3 different times. I was assured each time I would be contacted and someone would speak to me about and resolve. I never received a phone call back. It disgusts me now that evidently AAA is putting a lot of money into attracting new customers with all the advertisments they put on TV now. Don't they realize it costs a lot more to bring in new customers than to attempt to keep existing customers? Maybe they had no good explanation, and so didn't bother calling back. Maybe they think they are the only game in town regarding road service, and so figure they don't need to kowtow to someone like me. I'm not sure why they wouldn't take the time to call back, but I didn't renew. I'm a little worried about a breakdown, and would like to renew service, but can't bring myself to do it with such an arrogant organization.

One was better than the other. Fast forward to a month ago and I got a letter that I glanced at that mentioned a couple different prices for renewal 70 and 120. Ok well I was not convinced on rejoining and put it aside. On May 1st my card was charged $120.00. I called and was a little upset but asked why. I was told basically that because I did not respond to the letter I was charged?? I have never heard of such a thing.

I worked for a similar company and we did auto renewal only if the member confirmed it and was read a disclosure. I did not do this a year ago. Regardless the numbers don't add up-why 120 they went for the highest amount. What if I had changed my address and the mail did not get to me until after they charged me??? Also now they have put me in a situation with my family and paying for other bills... I understand how long it takes for banks to refund but they put me in this situation, that is not fair. This has to be the most inept company in America. If you're considering paying this company for their third world country service then you have more money than common sense. Read the reviews! I will also add this review because I've been dealing with this company for a few years. This morning I had to call then for tow service for my vehicle at my home to be taken to my auto mechanic in my hometown. Simple request, right? Not for AAA who's employees seem to be brain dead robots with lack of training.

I called their roadside assistance number at (800) 222-4357. You have to make a number of numeric choices to even reach the place where you put in your member number. This process has a time limit and if you're not inputting the 16 digit member number at lightning speed, you will be sent back to the very first of a series of numeric options that have to be inputted from your keyboard. It took me three tries to finally reach a supposedly "real" person.

This real person took down my location and where to tow my vehicle, then I advised her that I specifically required the tow service listed first on the closest AAA certified tow service in my area, which I gave her by name. She said for me to stay on the line while she called them to see when they could pick up my car. The call was disconnected, so I called AAA back and had to go through this process again.

This time the real person said that the wrecker service I advised them was not on their list but that they'd call someone else. I told this person that the first lady did get through to the specified wrecker service and that they indeed must be on their list because I'd called them before calling AAA again and was told that AAA had called them and that AAA had told them that if they couldn't get to it on the spot that they'd call the next service provider on the list. When I called back after the line was disconnected the first time, the person I spoke to said they'd call someone else because they couldn't find the wrecker service I preferred on their list. I told him that this sounds odd because AAA had already called them and that I was supposed to call AAA to confirm.

Third call I made to AAA I found out that the service call had been canceled for some reason. I was totally flustered at this point and hung up. When I called AAA for the 4th time today, I went through the whole LONG process that takes forever on the phone only to be told that this wrecker service closes at 5 p.m.EST and that they'd have to come tow my car tomorrow. Which isn't a problem EXCEPT the AAA robot person said that I would have to call AAA in the morning and make a new request to have my car towed.

I cannot believe the ineptness of this company. It took me a full day of calling the company only to be told that I have to call back tomorrow and put in a new request for service. If there is another similar service company other than AAA, I'd suggest you find it and use it instead of AAA. AAA can leave you stranded on the side of the road indefinitely due to a on their negligence on their part to fulfill a simple request. This is a horrible company!

TRIPLE A SHOULD CHANGE ITS NAME TO - ASININE ARROGANT ** but then we are pretty stupid for renewing with them this year after we were stuck on top of mountain in NJ called CRATER LAKE and their crew refused to come help us when our car that got stuck. If it had not been for friends of ours at the lake that day that helped us with the car we would probably still be there. Last night, 4/11/18 our Ford Mustang shut down because a wire was loose in our dashboard and Ford's safety feature kicked in and the car was dead. This happened at 5 pm and at 7 pm a young man of 18 with a large flatbed truck turned up when ordered by Triple A.

When this teen from a towing company called SUPERIOR came he tried to start the car. The transmission stick could not go into DRIVE so he promptly told us that he couldn't help us that his "truck" wasn't the right kind and that if he tried to pull our Mustang on his truck it would ruin the axis & the tires would come off. In short this kid was lazy but we tried to reason with him but he still said no and to recall Triple A that they had not told him that the stick would not go into drive that he wouldn't have come to help us. In short he left without helping us. We recalled TRIPLE A and ** was the operator we got on the phone who told us that all the trucks with the kind of flatbed we need knocked off work at 3 pm. I ** you NOT that is what this ** said to us. Meanwhile we have TRIPLE A's PLUS SERVICE & then she told us that SHE COULDN'T HELP US but that we had to call a towing company, get the receipt and AAA would pay us back.

My partner hung up after reeming that idiot and then I called a tow company who charged us $125 on my credit card and towed us within the hour. We got to my mechanic's at 8 pm and home by 8:30 pm. I guess I could have called Liberty Mutual but I'm in the process of dumping them too. We got Geico today and we're saving tons of money. I like taking my car to our mechanic because he never gouges us. AAA is supposedly sending us a refund form to put with our original receipt which I want full reimbursement for and then I'M GOING TO DUMP THEM. AAA has never been this bad before but the people they are hiring to do these jobs are the bottom of the barrel. When I called Superior to complain about the 18 yr old punk who didn't help us the dispatcher told me that "you refused service". I made sure AAA knew he was lying.

Then the dispatcher told me that "the kid has had a hard day!?" What about my day and night that you're ruining you **? No answer. Then I told him to "** the ** I don't have" and hung up in a rage. I called back AAA and they were willing to send another truck but it would be in 2 hours. That was at 7 pm I said no & told him I was paying for a pickup and wanted a reimbursement. The new rep on the phone said I can apply online. TOTAL BS. Couldn't do it and then he had the ultimate gall to tell me "Have a great night miss" - SERIOUSLY? You're going to tell me that after I paid you 120 bucks and didn't get any service at all. GO ** YOURSELF. TRIPLE A is terrible. Can't wait to dump them - this is what you get when dummies take over a company.

After waiting 1 1/2 hours for the battery expert to jump my 2-year-old battery which is from AAA and was to be warrantied the expert said to consider replacement but have to charge all night to see if it is bad. Only 100% bad get replaced. Mine has 56 CCA out of 650 CCA.

I have had AAA for 20 years and never had an issue. When replacing my battery, the 'contracted' agent did not reassembly my car properly causing damage to my windshield wiper mechanism. I called AAA claims; they came out; then called the 3rd party; the 3rd party denied causing any damage so AAA sided with them. I tried bumping this up the ladder with AAA but no one knew who AAA's claims agent reported to. I contacted the 3rd party. Opening up my hood for a look, the shop found other components lying in the well of my hood; but of course, it wasn't their guy that left them there!!! I had no alternative but to pay for the part they broke ($150) but saved a little since installation was on them (AAA's diagnosis was wrong; the part they claimed failed due to age was not the issue).

During the 5.5 hrs I was waiting for the repair, 2 customers came in complaining the repairs made to their cars were bad… a steering issue & battery light now stays on after battery/alternator was replaced the day before. My wipers now work but I must lean toward the passenger side since the blade stops about mid-way on the windshield on the driver's side. AAA USED TO BE GREAT. They had integrity and was a service to its customers. NO MORE!!! Apparently they now deal with shlok 3rd parties and then deny any responsibility (read your contract). I cannot express how disappointed I am in AAA.
