In 2014, we decided to get AAA due to age of our vehicles and never knowing when something might arise that we would need a tow. Lo and behold during a snow storm in early 2015, our minivan was stuck. We called AAA for a tow. They refused saying if we were stuck, they may get stuck and therefore would NOT send someone out. I told them I highly doubt that a towing vehicle, with its weight, would get stuck in a few inches of snow, as our AWD SUV was just fine. We ended up having to use our SUV (without a tow hitch) to pull the van out of the stuck spot. While on the phone and telling them how disappointed we were in their response they needed to go ahead and cancel our service as obviously it was doing us no good. Fast forward to today.

As I'm looking at our bank account, I notice a payment to AAA on the 1st for renewal. I go back to October of 2015 and see the same charge. I call them asking why we are being charged when we never renewed? Was told by Lexie that I chose the auto renewal option. She will refund this year, but last year is too bad because I didn't call then. I told her under no circumstances have I EVER checked anything for autorenewal and I'm quite certain is was a prepopulated check somewhere in the fine print that I never saw. I asked repeatedly to speak to her manager. After the 10th time I had to ask if she was stupid or deaf? Lexie ended up hanging up on me.

The rep I spoke to when I called back was nicer but still somewhat rude and refused to rebate the 2015 charge because there was no note in the system from that call in early 2015 that I wished to cancel, and surely their "brilliant" 10th grade educated morons would write that in the notes. AAA was fantastic in the 80's and early 90's. Obviously based on the horrible reviews I've seen here, I am not alone in thinking they need to be investigated and put out of business. I fully intend to contact BBB as well as the local news investigation teams to have them look into this. AAA is shady and they are thieves.

Called AAA. They said we are in dangerous spot, would make our roadside call a priority. An hour later I called them back. They put me through to another AAA office and they said “We are backed up but will be there soon.” Another hour of waiting on side freeway in hot sun called again. The dispatcher said "Well we will get there when we can." Tow guy said he passed us a few times but just received call. It's been over 3 hours no one has come to help? Called again. They gave us more runaround... still don't know if anyone is coming.

I am extremely disappointed in your "service". I phoned on October 1st at 11:45 AM to ask for someone to come out and jump start my battery. I was initially told it would be 1 hour. After 11/2 hours, I phoned again, was placed on hold, and finally told that the towing company (METRO) was running late and would be at my residence in 30 minutes. After waiting another 45-60 minutes, I phoned again and asked to speak to a supervisor. I was told that the towing company (METRO) would be at my home "soon" (car was in my garage). Finally, at 4:00 PM, I receive a call from a METRO driver, who was VERY rude, telling me he'd be there soon.

A few minutes later, I receive a call from another towing company you work with (ADVANCED); this driver was at my home in 15 minutes. Interestingly, the METRO driver finally did drive by, saw the other tow truck, drove down to the end of a long cul-de-sac, waited for ten minutes, turned around, and left. No word to me. Ironically, ADVANCED is located in my county (Nassau), about 15 minutes away from where I live. METRO is in Jacksonville, approximately 45 minutes (without traffic) from my home. The ADVANCED driver informed me that this was the second such incident of the day (METRO was called by AAA, didn't show up for 3 hours, customer lived in Nassau County)! Obviously, AAA should have contacted ADVANCED first. Additionally, AAA should have been in contact with whomever the towing company was to be used. You never did. I was never contacted by METRO or AAA.

I would like a phone call. I would like to know that your company cares about customers. What would have happened if I had been on the side of a road somewhere?! I have always associated AAA with customer care and diligence; I trusted you and was, apparently, very wrong in doing so. Do you value me as a customer? If so, how will you reflect this value? I would expect much more than "We won't count this as one of your four yearly services" - especially given that with my "premiere" membership, battery charges don't count as a tow service at all! The car was NOT towed! I have sent this complaint directly to your company via the AAA page I log into. I expect something more than what I've received from your supervisors - "I'm sorry".

Called October 1 SPECIFICALLY asked for a tow truck. Customer service began asking questions and then insisted I tell her the sound the car makes when it would not stop. I said I do not know. I said this like 5 times. I said "just send the tow. All I need is a tow and I will pay the extra charge." I get a call from a SERVICE CAR not a tow truck. I got someone to help and they started the car so I call AAA to tell them I do not need them but I also. Then I call and ask for supervisor. This person named Randy comes and begins to argue with me that a service would helped since the car started.

I am the customer - if no one came and helped or if the car just would not start I would need a tow. I rather wait for a tow than wait for service and then wait for a tow. I should get what I ask for and what I pay for. I hate them. I file a complaint with BBB and I won't stop until I get guaranteed. They won't mess with me like this again or I want my money.

AAA is blatantly a rip-off when it comes to battery replacement! Our battery was less than one year old when it died. They came out to test it, jump started the car and left. We drove the car for about an hour thinking it should charge it back up enough to take it in for charging as they had suggested. Charging system was fine they said. Their meter read that it had 495 CCA. Next day I could not even jump it. I could have taken it in (if I could have jumped it) but thought about the possibility that the next day it would not start... I cannot afford to be without this car!

I then read the many reviews and realized it was a mute point... The AAA dealers are told to not replace anymore than 11% of their batteries or possibly lose their franchise! Went and bought my own... car starts just fine. AutoZone tested AAA battery... It had 9% that following morning! Heads up... DON'T BUY AA BATTERIES! Not worth it! BTW... I have a 2013 Chevy... Bet they won't want to reimburse me the 125.00 bucks for the bad battery they sold us! READ REVIEWS!!!

4.30 pm yesterday I called AAA due to a flat tire and I couldn't remove the bolts to change it, The 1st operator took my location which was Queens Blvd between 55 ave and 55rd, he took my cell number 2 times as he read it back wrong the 1st time, "help will be there in 50 mins at the latest". He said. 5.40 pm. I call again, 2nd operator tells me that they cancelled it because I didn't give them an exact address and that I wasn't answering my phone, He said it would be at least another hour to wait and it was my fault for not picking up the phone and not telling them the exact address of where I was parked. 6.00pm I call 3rd operator and ask "what cell number do you have for me?", it was the wrong number, so operator #2 didn't even bother to check if they had the right number, just laid all blame on me, I was then told help will be there in 30 mins.

7.00pm I call operator #4 (George), "Is your car a Chrysler PT Cruiser?" he asked, "Well that's your problem right there" he said, WOW!, so on top of total incompetence, rudeness and blame shifting I get an amateur comedian to make fun of the situation, excellent. 7.30pm mechanic arrives and takes 5 mins to get me on the road again. In 15 years as a member I have used them twice and both times they made a total mess of the situation, 100% failure rate. I will definitely be cancelling my membership, I will use my insurance company from now on.

Triple A is a joke. Yesterday 9/22/16 I called AAA for roadside assistance. My ignition was broke. So I told them I need a dolly truck because that's what I needed a week before with same problem. They say "Ok it will be a hour wait and you have to say with car until they get there." First guy comes, rude attitude and don't take car cause owner isn't there to sign waiver. Then we call back. They tell me it's $119 to tow 22 miles to my house. That is only like 18 miles but whatever. Then $95 to tow to shop where I purchased car from. It's 6 miles from where I broke down at. Me my sister and customer service rep all using Google maps. We get 6.1 to 7.5 miles. He gets 13 miles. "What. Hell no. Get manager." Manager says he know miles are showing up wrong but there's nothing he can do about it but send someone out then the tower can calculate miles.

Then a towing guy calls about 45 mins. unto the hour wait time to see what exactly was going on, I explained. He said it would be 45 mins. wait cause he has a trip before me. He wanted to send someone out to see if they can start it. Ok a tower named Tony comes out. Nice guy btw. Hooks car in 10 mins. then charges me $14 for the 3 to 4 extra miles that I wasn't covered for. Now what map were they using to get $95 for a $14 trip. Straight crazy. Oh and I wanted to upgrade to unlimited tow or whatever it's called for $40 extra bucks but it wouldn't start til 7 days later. What kind of crap is that. So they want you to pay 40 more dollars plus however much a tow is to your location plus wait up to only God knows when for them to come. They're undercover scammer to the fullest. Will not be dealing with them ever again. Will get towing option with my car insurance company. Btw first call was at 2:15 pm. Didn't leave til 7 pm.

Is it just me or did everyone that had 100 deductible got kicked down to 250 deductible? They are losing me fast. I have 2 cars, earthquake insurance, renter's insurance, and Premier Roadside. For the cost of insurance this crap shouldn't happen. I even referred my brother 8 months ago and I was to get a pair of movie tickets. I still had not received them so I called and they said, "Sorry, it's only 1 movie ticket." I will be going in the office tomorrow and tell them what has happened, and go to GEICO. I recently switched to AAA Auto thinking it was cheaper than paying for tow service through my insurance company. It was cheaper but when I actually needed them the wait for a tow was ridiculous. On Sept 12 I had a flat tire coming out of the gym and when I called them they quoted me a time frame of 2:39 pm, I called it in at 1:39 pm. I thought an hour was long but whatever. 20 minutes later I get a call saying the original company they dispatched was not able to assist so they would dispatch another tow company. The time frame now is 3 pm.

A little annoyed, I waited inside the gym and as it got closer to 2:59. I get a call saying it's going to take another 30 minutes!! Absolutely ridiculous. Because I have to get home to get my son from school, I decided I would drive on my flat tire all the way home. Thank goodness I made it home. I then receive a call at 4:45 pm and the tow driver left a message saying they are in the parking lot looking for my car. Now I have to laugh because their commercials is a joke. I pray I never need them again.

My tire went flat coming home from work. I had a spare but for some reason it would not fit even though it came with the car. I called AAA and told them my situation. After hanging up with them I noticed the text they sent me for tracking. It had me in a totally different part of town. I told them, "I am between city X and city Y on highway XX." Simple, I'd think, but they got it totally wrong. Then after calling them back and telling them they had the wrong location they said "OK, we'll fix it." Then I didn't hear back from them so I didn't know if they were coming or not. All I needed was a spare that fit or a tire plug, they insisted on a tow even though I was 9 miles out of my 3 mile tow range. That would be 36 dollar by the way. $4/mile!!

The thing that really upset me was the lady didn't know if the guy coming was going to be able to patch my tire because "All trucks are equipped with different tools..." Well, how hard is it to have a tire patch AAA? You think AAA would do stuff like that... Well, an hour and a half passes (even though they said an hour), and what smells to be a totally drunk tow truck driver shows up. His breath stank of alcohol. By that time, I had already been helped by 2 good seminarians, one who helped me jack it up and the other who happened to have a spare that fit my car. I was basically good to go at this point except for the fact that my battery was dead from running the blinkers for 2 hours. The guy that came for AAA didn't have jumper cables either. And to boot he acted half way mad because my car was almost ready to run. The guy who gave me the spare tire jumped my car off and I left for home. Needless to say I am less than happy with AAA.

On or about August 11, 2016 I contacted Triple A Portland, Oregon to make arrangements for 3-day excursion from the central Oregon Coast to Salinas, California and back. My needs were specific. A SUV that could accommodate a king size latex mattress, and hotel reservations. Stephanie, researched the dimensions of several vehicles, recommended and booked the vehicle, then emailed trip tik maps to me, and helped me to assess where I would be staying and looked for hotel rooms. Stephanie looked at the reviews of the hotels before she recommended anything.

There were some problems with getting the vehicle at a convenient location, which she tried to resolve and dug deeply enough to find out why. I ended up not taking the vehicle because I found that folding the mattress would not damage it. So, the Sonoma truck with a canopy would work fine. I also ran ahead of schedule and had to cancel one of the reservations north bound. Stephanie, telephoned me at the end of my trip to ask how things went. She has since assisted me in booking a longer term stay across the country, and because I had a budget, spent above an average amount of time to do so. I am very happy with my hotel. Stephanie has a can-do attitude that serves the membership of Triple A Portland, well. Thank you Stephanie. You are priceless.

I have been a AAA member since 1964. I am 70 years of age. The last time I experienced a breakdown was in 2013, middle of summer when it was 90 degrees. I have two children. I had to wait nearly 3 hours before a tow truck arrived. Even then they could not take my children so we had to arrange separately for them to get home. AAA only has a limited number of contracted providers per geographic locality. They have some backup providers. If all their contracted providers and backups are busy, you must wait until they can get to you; no matter how long that might take. AAA is too cheap to call non-contracted providers to assist you no matter what the circumstances. I expect more out of an auto club for which I pay this kind of money.

At my age, I don't want to end up in the hospital over heat stroke when, under ideal conditions of no accidents, no weather emergency; AAA can't get to me because they hold fast to using only contracted providers. They tack on all sorts of bells and whistles as "fringe benefits" to your membership, failing to understand that all I really need from a motor club membership is service when I have an emergency. AAA is good at saying they are sorry but can't do anything to correct this situation. I would no longer recommend AAA. They are not reliable for senior citizens. You cannot count on them if you have a road emergency. It is as simple as that.

So after dealing with AAA roadside on this issue since 07/15/2016 and a total of 8 service calls; I have come to a decision that I should reach out to BBB and have it resolved that route. I have spoken to several Reps and Supervisors at the call center who just keep saying they understand but don't want to resolve the issue. All I want at this point is a replacement or refund for the battery. All transactions happened in 2016.

01/14: Bought battery from AAA. 07/15: Placed a call thinking my battery was dead. 07/26: Battery died again and placed another call. Excel road service came out and driver was rude to begin with and stated it was the alternator. 07/28: Drove the car to Autozone for alternator test and it was all good and they stated it was the battery. 07/30: Battery died again and another road service call was placed and the same rude driver came out and kept saying it's the alternator. 08/01: Drove to Honda and they tested the Alternator and said it was working perfect and there was no issue with that; but their mechanic suspected the battery since it was not holding charge and kept draining faster than it should.

08/01: Spoke to a Supervisor who noted on my account not to send the same rude driver out. 08/04: Towed my car to my mechanic and he stated Alternator was fine and it was the battery. 08/19: Placed another call for battery replacement and SAME rude driver came out and did not want to do anything instead kept arguing that it's the Alternator not the battery and till that is not replaced he will not do anything. So I sent him back. 08/25: Called Roadside again and explained to the rep on the phone who said she will send another service out B&R out who will replace the battery. Instead they came out and stated they don't replace battery instead they gave a jump start and battery died in seconds. 08/25: Called Roadside again and asked for supervisor. But from her tone she implied that I'm Lying and Excel Roadside service driver is saying the Truth.

After all these calls to AAA Roadside I believe AAA is not going to replace the battery and I will have to resolute to BBB and get it resolved that way. All I want now is either replace the battery or refund me the amount paid and I will go over to Sears and pick up a new battery. On top of this I'm going to cancel my AAA Membership at the end of this year due to this kind of run around for a member who has been with AAA for 15+ years. I will post this on Consumer report so People know how poor service I have received for being a Loyal AAA customer. All of this happened in Vernon Hills, IL so if you Get AAA Be careful if they assign you to Excel Road Service and never buy AAA Battery. I learned it the hard way of their P*** poor service.

Upon referral of a friend who's a AAA member for over 20 years I got AAA Plus membership last year. On 21st of February I was travelling south bound on I-95 when I was close to Winch Rd intersection of I-95 in Maryland I realized my vehicle's lug nut was open so I pulled over right underneath Winch Road bridge on I-95 south bound I believe the town name is Port Deposit MD. I came out of my car suddenly and I didn't realize I locked my car key in the ignition with the running engine. I called AAA around 11:32 PM explained my problem that I need my tire to be fixed plus I'm locked out. I was provided reference number ** for my call. After a while I called again to check the status of my call I was told ROADSIDE SOLUTIONS ELKTON, MD. dispatched a driver for my help.

About 20 minutes later a driver pulled over behind my car in a pickup truck with a yellow light flashing on top of his truck. I explained him my problem I was facing. I realized he was so high he didn't even hear what I said. He ordered me to protect his back while he was trying to open the door so that no car gonna hit his back. As soon as he opened the door and ran back to his truck and locked himself inside the truck. I walked slowly to his vehicle and requested him to fix my tire as well. He opened about 6 inches of his window and yelled "I CAN'T DO THAT" I realized his poor situation he was in. I found it was better to fix the tire myself. I requested him if I could borrow his jack and tire wrench that I didn't have in my car unfortunately that night. He yelled again, "I don't have in my truck." (Imagine a AAA driver for roadside assistance having no jack and tire wrench on a service call for tire problem.)

I again realized he was not in his sense what he was doing. I again requested him to at least stay behind my car for my back up for few minutes at least let me check if I could fix my tire myself. He yelled again I can't stay for long time. He moved his truck at 10 yards behind my vehicle like I was a dangerous person. As soon as I came to my car I realized he was long gone. I called again AAA for help and said what their driver did to me in the middle of the night the operator asked she will call me back with the new dispatch status.

About 5 minutes later I was surrounded by bunch of K9 and state troopers. They said they got complaint from AAA that I ran over their driver with the tire wrench and metal rod and tried to hurt him. I explained humbly to the cops the situation I was facing for the last 90 minutes and I offered them to search my whole car and if they find any tire wrench or any metal rod I'll happily surrender my for arrest. One of the cops was kind enough to understand my situation and realized how AAA was behaving with me. He called another tow truck for my help. I had to pay $175 to take my car to the next exit where I had to pay again to fix my car.

I called again AAA and spoke to Mr. ** AAA midnight dispatcher who refused to help me and said he called cops on me for my help not to arrest me. He also said ROADSIDE SOLUTIONS ELKTON, MD who dispatched the driver might have filed complaint against me. That was the last time I used AAA and will never use in my life again. That was the worst lesson of my life. I recommend everyone not to use AAA especially if you're in Maryland. Drug addicted drivers might put you in trouble instead of helping you out.

Called to cancel our membership for any refund to our Visa card. Unfortunately failed to follow up on that only to discover that we had automatic deductions taken out for a further 3 years.

When it was discovered, and a refund was requested, I was informed that when we failed to "uncheck" the box on the online membership form for automatic withdraw, they legally were under no obligation to refund anything but current year. The agent specified that using "automatic payment" was a legal contract and they were under no obligation to refund anything but current year; regardless as to whether I was aware of the membership or not. Lesson learned: Read the fine print; carefully examine ALL boxes checked or unchecked; because if you are not careful, you may be obligated by law to pay whether you want the service or not. Total loss to me was $ 400.00 for membership we never knew about.

I have been subscribing to AAA Roadside assistance for over 20 years. Recently, I had family visiting us along with small children and we took them out for shopping in Cary Towne Center. While coming out of the mall, we found our car battery had died. I called AAA with my Plus membership number at about 8:00 PM on Saturday August 6th, 2016. They promised to send me a tow truck within one hour. The whole family waited outside until 9 PM and no one showed up. We called again and they said, it could take another 30 to 45 minutes. We found family to be in unsafe condition and had to call one of our friends to come and pick us up. We eventually ended up canceling the service call and managed to take our vehicle next day. But, I lost faith in AAA and they really do NOT appreciate their customers' sensitive needs.

At approximately 7:40 p.m. on Sunday (8/14/16) I called AAA due to a dead battery. The dispatcher advised this wasn't a problem and they would send someone from Affordable Battery by 8:30 p.m. The technician arrived at 8:16 p.m. and was very nice. I mentioned to him, as well as to dispatch, that I had been away for 2 months and my car had not been started during that time. He stated that was no problem, and proceeded to hook up the jumper cables. After a minute (3 or 4 tries) my car started right up. He let it run for a minute, maybe less, and removed one of the cables, at which point my car went completely dead again. I asked what happened, then he reconnected the cable back up to the battery which produced a significant amount of sparks.

The car started up immediately. He told me to turn off the car, which I did, and he proceeded to advise me that my battery was completely dead and I would need a brand new battery. He also claimed that the dead battery in my car had been discontinued. This battery was put in my car in April of 2015, also by Affordable Battery sent out by AAA. I asked the technician why I could possibly need a new battery, when the current one wasn't even 2 years old. He stated that the only way it would be covered under warranty would be due to a manufacturer defect, and 1 or 2 other reasons, and that "severe damage" was not covered under the warranty.

I was told "severe damage" included not starting the car for 2 months, as was my situation. I asked for the price and he rattled that off in a split second, down to the penny. The battery I purchased in August of 2015 was $15.00 less than the one I was told I needed. There was no offer of a prorated amount, or even a suggestion that may be an option. He then realized he didn't have any batteries with him and would have to go get one and come back. He went all the way back to his shop, came back over an hour later, and installed the new battery fairly quickly, took my check, gave me a receipt and his business card, and left. The technician was very nice, but I feel as if I got ripped off.

First of all, when I initially called AAA, I stated it was a dead battery issue. That being the reason for the call, the technician should have ensured that he had the proper battery in his truck. He left around 8:35 or 8:40 p.m., to pick up the new battery. Prior to his leaving, I advised the technician I had an early morning appointment across town and needed the car first thing. He did not return until approximately 9:40 p.m. Completely unacceptable that he arrived without the battery, and that I then had to wait for approximately hour for him to return.

There was a "Limited Warranty" condition circled on my receipt from August of 2015, which I pointed out to him. His only response to this was "we don't make any money off batteries." I find it hard to believe that a subcontractor for AAA doesn't make any money on installing batteries. Why can't AAA send out an actual AAA employee, as opposed to a subcontractor, who clearly has to make money to survive? I have read other reviews this evening, after this experience, and there seems to be a common theme that AAA Affordable Battery is a rip-off.

I have had my AAA membership for approximately 32 years and have barely ever had to use them. However, I will be filing a formal complaint with them and I will be demanding a prorated credit be returned to me. I fully believe that AAA Affordable Battery is a rip-off, and that AAA should stick to sending out THEIR OWN ACTUAL EMPLOYEES for simple things, such as a dead battery, to alleviate the appearance of impropriety and/or price gouging. Obviously, when I tell the technician I need my car for early Monday morning, and it's Sunday night at 8:15, any subcontractor knows they have you over a barrel.

I want to reiterate, the technician was VERY nice, despite my obvious infuriation at the news my battery was completely dead and would need to spend $150.00 to get a new one. Being a female, and not having much knowledge about car batteries, I'm a prime target. And by the way, the battery that was replaced in August of 2015 was over 6 years old, and was a battery that was purchased from AutoZone and installed by a trusted mechanic. The technician who came out in August of 2015 was amazed that the battery had lasted as long as it did. Seems to me AAA Affordable Battery is installing sub-par batteries, in the hopes that they will have plenty of "repeat business". I think a complaint to the BBB will be my next step after my complaint to AAA tomorrow. If I can, I will update this post if additional information, positive or negative, becomes available.

Pros: The benefits were great and came in handy when needed. Unfortunately, due to an employee I sadly have to give 2 stars. She truly ruined my views on the professionalism of this company. Sure sucks. Cons: Unfortunately, I received my first (and only) traffic ticket. Super minor violation. My bill went from $100/month to $180/month. I decided to continue service and pay for my mistake because so far I enjoyed the insurance benefits and the CS team.

After paying $180 for 2 months, my bill went up to $260/month. Curious, I called for an explanation. I was already paying an increased rate due to my one point, so why did it raise again if nothing else changed on my record? Instead of getting answers, I got yelled at by a CS rep. She told me "IT'S MY FAULT." and "That's what happens when you get a point. You got a point... RIGHT?!" Just flat out rude and condescending. I asked to speak to someone else and the rep informed me SHE was helping me and kept repeating it was "my fault, my fault, my fault". If there was a reasonable explanation for my bill I would have been happy enough to continue services. But that I'll never know because she refused to say anything else, and refused to transfer me. I told her I had no issue paying $260 (looking back, I was crazy), but I was going to look around and compare prices because I felt my question wasn't being answered.

The rep RAISED HER VOICE, said "EXCUUUSE ME!" every time I tried to get a word in and told me "Good luck finding anything cheaper. YOU WON'T." Ok so I like a challenge, so naturally I tell her I'll look around for something cheaper. And IF I find something cheaper, I'd call back and cancel. But I'd be happy to keep AAA if it truly was the cheapest. She asks me why I'd want to cancel and I tell her it was because I don't understand my price hike. She then hangs up on me.

A few hours later I call back in hopes of getting someone new... which I did. However, the very nice new rep informed me she showed that I cancelled my insurance 3 hours prior. I explain the situation, said I didn't request to cancel but the other rep must have done it out of anger. The rep explained they close in 30 minutes and unfortunately if I wanted to keep services, I had 30 minutes to decide. She very politely explained why: to avoid insurance lapses, better safe than sorry (advice I'll always remember). I did find a cheaper insurance so I called back and cancelled. I did let the rep know I'd stay with AAA if it weren't for that one employee. The rep said she understood completely and apologized for my experience. I really appreciated that... But sadly, I will never take being yelled. That's my deal breaker.

Once he returned he had the wrong name and person membership number and told me it had expired and I just purchased the membership 2 weeks ago. I then told him "Can you tell me the membership number or name" and he told me "No I cannot give out that information." I was very confused of why he couldn't tell me the name or membership number that came up.

I told him he must have the wrong information. "I found the correct membership number. Can you please enter this." He told me "No you must contact member services. I cannot help you." I told him "I didn't want any help. I want you to input the correct information and send out a tow truck." Once again the guy was very arrogant and did not want to process my membership number correctly then passed me off to member services to be forgotten about. Cancelled the service the very next day. Very disgusted. Then was told refund would be given. Issued a check. Unacceptable. Paid with debit. Credit card payment taken immediately. Refund should be given the same way. Why should I wait 7 to 10 days for my refund when payment was taken immediately. Refund should be given immediately back to my bank card the way it was issued or cash at a Triple A location. Complete **.

On July 21, 2016: I came in for your assistance with Tags and Title after I moved from out of state to MD. I first called and discussed the service with someone. I also made a query online to be sure I had everything required. I was told no appointment was necessary. When I arrived I was referred to the waiting area for 1/2 hour. There were two Tag & Title people there to provide service. One customer. When I was called, the more senior of the two, a gentleman, called me over. He proceeded to waste my time trying to provide me reasons not to use the service. Cost and the fact that I was going to pay by cash seemed the primary objections. I had the distinct impression he thought this would be too expensive for me. Then he started in on how my papers had to be walked over to the Dept. of Motor Vehicle's office due to the car being a 2010 car. New rules apply to more recent cars. You'd think they did not want the business.

Then he involved the trainee. Things went downhill. She gave me the forms to fill out myself. She then whited out the inserts I made in the power of attorney form. Never mind that I am a lawyer. The gentleman corrected that back to what I wrote. Tick tock, folks. I came to save time. Then I was directed to the service counter to pay. There were two cashiers. I approached the gentleman. He looked everything over and then told the other female employee to do it. So I waited while she looked it over. And, yes, I paid cash. The Tag & Title man must have been shocked. I went back and waited while the two people at that desk made copies and had me sign more stuff. Then they directed me to the car service desk. The woman there said her computer was down. She plunked and plunked on it. Then she moved to the next machine. It was working. Still I waited.

She said nothing else to me other than the first remark. I waited ten minutes. Then she took calls that were on hold. One man was asked six times if he had ever been in the store before. He never did answer. But she persisted. I walked out and went to the dealer where I spent well over a thousand dollars on repairs and my inspection. They could have had that business. As I walked out in a huff the cashier who handed my Tag & Title payment to his coworker to handle asked me if I'd like to get an insurance review. That was hilarious! No. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome.

July 27, 2016: I returned to pick up my tags once they came in. I was told I should return after my car inspection. I was again told no appointment was necessary. The person was polite. August 2, 2016: When I returned to get my permanent tags at 9:30 am on August 2, I was told no one was in at Tags & Title. I could come back in a half hour. Seriously? These folks do this every day but have no cross-training program or a manager who can fill in?

I called their 888 number and went over to the Rockville office. Nothing will convince me to return to the Shady Grove office. The person on duty in Rockville was nice, but when I went to pay at the cashier's desk no one was there. I waited five minutes for that person to return to her desk. What is the point of so many warm bodies doing nothing? There were two men at cashier stations but they only handle automotive matters. I was asked if I wanted a AAA credit card or a AAA insurance review. Hilarious! Again, their commitment to service is terrible.

I called Triple A to jump off a battery on an SUV in the garage. The person finally arrived and performed a diagnostic teddy. Everything was fine except the battery needed to be charged. He suggested driving it around since it had been sitting. I sat in the garage for awhile and just let the motor run. After awhile, I backed the SUV out of the garage. The front door was not locked. The house key was in the key chain with the key that operated the SUV. Since the SUV had been running quite awhile, I turned off the car and locked the front door. When I turned it on the car wouldn't start. I got someone to jump it off. Although it had been running again it seemed like it was about to choke down. I didn't want to risk it on the road so I drove it back into the two car garage where another car was sitting with no battery. I turned off the SUV and went to turn down the garage and the SUV was in the garage, but not enough for the sensors.

I called triple A again and asked if the same guy could come back and jump the SUV off. I explained what happened. That he performed a diagnostic test but the battery still wouldn't work. The Triple A rep told me they would send someone out again, but it would cost me another free call. I didn't think that was right. I spoke with a manager who said the same thing. Do not use a Triple A. They want to rip you off by taking free service calls multiple times on the same call. Very bad customer relations.

I didn't even ask them why because I found a policy with another company for $115 a month for the same coverage. I've been a AAA Plus Member since 1992 and haven't had any complaints in the service until I decided to have AAA install a new battery in my vehicle. Since first new battery was installed, I noticed that in about a week's time the battery would completely lose its charge and at that time I would call AAA to come and charge it and check battery. They have done this now three times which on one occasion the battery could be charged but again only lasts a week. So I called them again and this time they claim that something on my vehicle was draining it but they would go ahead and replace it. Again they replaced my dead battery after a week with what they claim to be a brand new battery.

Each time these batteries have been installed I noticed that when my keys are in the ignition and my door is open that I could barely hear the bell notification sound, it wasn't faint that I have mentioned this to each battery tech and they didn't seem to either care or listen to my complaint. The way I see it is that AAA installs rebuild batteries claiming that they are new OR all the new batteries are bad and have bad cells. Either way I'm sitting here today with yet another dead new battery that I took out of my vehicle and carried into an Auto shop to have them charge it for me. Well not only is it a dead battery but they informed me that it's bad and will not hold a charge. The last AAA Battery Specialist told me that I had a bad alternator and that he could tell just by the way it stalls out immediately after he removes the cables.

So I have my mechanic remove my alternator and I take it in to be tested and they proceed to tell me that my alternator is working fine. I'm so done with this AAA Battery ** and I now want my money back. I've wasted so much time going back and forth with them about their batteries and now even more time and money having my alternator taken out and tested that I'm now seeing RED!

TODAY my vehicle is going in to a shop so that my alternator can be put back in and the dead battery that remains in my vehicle again can be tested. When diagnosed I'm calling AAA to come and take their 3rd bad battery back and I expect a full refund now. I'm not going to have them put another dead draining battery in my vehicle again. I will post on this site the results of my request for a refund on their bad batteries. I have never had any trouble at all with any of my previous batteries until I had AAA Battery Service install a so-called new battery in 2015. It took almost an hour and a half for the tow truck to get there and he had a female passenger with him. Once he hooked up my daughter's car, he informed them that it was their policy to have them ride in the towed vehicle and not in the cab of the tow truck. Not being from Florida they thought this was normal business practice and they complied.

Because the battery was dead, they were not able to roll the windows down and quickly the car became unbearably hot and they had no way to communicate with the tow truck driver. By the time they arrived at the auto shop, they were drenched in sweat and sick from the heat. This is very serious and potentially life threatening and I believe illegal to have customers ride in the back of a towed vehicle. They lodged a complaint with AAA and have not received a return call and I tried to lodge a complaint and after being on hold 35 minutes, the line was cut off. The whole reason I signed up for AAA was to protect my daughter on the road, afraid of her getting stranded and something bad happening to her! I called to complain this morning and they offered no explanations and a weak apology. I've researched AAA and similar companies and they all pay their towing companies pitifully so that's why the service is so poor. I have had two experiences with AAA roadside assistance: once in North Florida, and once in Northern Alabama. Both times, something happened to my car unexpectedly. Once related to tires/wheels and the other time the alternator. I called and had less than satisfactory treatment. In North Florida, I was told I didn't have the service, even though I had been paying for it for the last 6 months. I had to continue arguing on a dying phone about it, and had to call friends to get assistance with dealing with the situation. All in all, it took 3 and 1/2 hours for someone to show and tow my car.

In the second situation, I called from northern Alabama after my car quickly shut down after an alert related to the alternator and battery unexpectedly popped up. I was first told that a tow truck was on the way, but this was, in fact, a lie. That truck had gone to Memphis with a car. I was told a second servicer would be on his way to me. 30 minutes later, I receive a notification that the tow truck had just left and would take 20 minutes longer than expected. This was all happening late at night, barely on the side of a dark highway with vehicles going close to 70 mph in the lane about 30 feet from the car. I had no other option (see: rural Alabama) and had to wait. I'm not sure if this is an issue via call centers or some of the locally sourced tow work, but these are two similar experiences in different regions, both with poor results. Similar to another recent reviewer in Tampa, FL, I encountered an issue with my just under 2 year old AAA battery. My car began experiencing problems holding a charge and got progressively worse over a 4-day period. On the final day (5/26/2016), I was able to get the car started after some difficulty and called AAA battery service expecting them to run a test showing it was faulty. It "passed" the basic test and the tech was not able to override the testing tool to force it to run a full second-level test.

Because it "passed" the test, AAA would not replace the battery under warranty. I then took the car to my local Honda dealer and had them replace the battery and have had no further issues. I submitted a request to AAA Member Services for a reimbursement credit that I could use for future annual road-service membership renewals. They would not provide any form of reimbursement for the failed AAA battery which should have been replaced under warranty. I've been a AAA member for about 25 years and have used the battery service to replace a couple vehicle batteries in the recent past. Frankly, I would've been satisfied with reimbursement in some form for a portion of the total expense I incurred to replace the AAA battery (about $145). Based on this extremely poor customer service I will likely not purchase any other AAA batteries in the future.

Our car broke down and we promptly called AAA. The person assisting had obvious problems with comprehension and spelling. After 30 minutes, my husband was told that the car would be towed but we would have to wait 40 minutes. We contacted AAA 4 times and each time they said it would be another 30 minutes. A towing company called to ask what type of car he would have to tow. He did not have the details because the job had been farmed out to him by the official company that AAA deals with in Milwaukee.

Remains to be seen whether the person who will eventually tow our car is an approved AAA service person. The last time we called AAA the person said that there were 22 comments on this incident file. Also, the police stopped and told us that we should be gone within 2 hours... and that was 3 hours ago. What happens if we get a fine, is AAA guilty of not being able to fulfill their service agreement or do they continue to get away with contemptuous service?

My nightmare began on May 10, 2016 at approximately 9 pm when I contacted AAA for a jump. Between AAA and Rescue Professionals I'm appalled at the lack of service I have experienced. I placed a call to get the battery jumped on a 1999 Lexus RX300. I drove from Birmingham, Al in my 2007 Lexus GS350 to pick up the RX from my niece who I bought it from and I am scheduled to work here this week. My daughter was going to drive the RX back to Birmingham. The AAA contract Tow service, Rescue Professionals, were dispatched by AAA Roadside Assistance. The guy who arrived could not fit his truck into the parking garage (I advised rep it was in a parking garage). He brought a jump box that did not jump the RX so he went back to his vehicle to charge it more, took him about 15 min or so.

He comes back in still the jump box, won't charge the battery. He stated he did not have any jumper cables on his truck so he called another driver. In the meantime he called someone who suggested that he take the battery out of my GS and put it in the RX. He did that, almost put cables on wrong terminals. When he put the battery back in my car and however he tried to put the cables back on the battery it caused a loud pop accompanied by sparks. At this point the RX is running but my car (GS) that I drove from Birmingham is no longer running. I'm unable to start the GS350. He said to me ,"It must have blown a fuse" . At this point I had to walk away before I blew my fuse! My niece told me later that he looked at them and said, "You guys called it" .

He then decided to attempt to jump the GS off with the RX battery we just got jumped. This action killed the RX. Now we have the RX DEAD in the drive of the parking garage blocking another vehicle. The Rescue Professionals driver left the garage and never came back. He never advised us he was leaving. Thankfully someone came into the parking garage and offered to help us push the RX into a parking spot. AAA called me at 01:53 at which time I explained that we needed assistance again because now the GS that was working originally was now not working and the person they sent to help us had ABANDONED US. I explained we were too exhausted to continue. We had to call Uber take us to my nieces where we attempted to rest before starting another incredibly long and painful AAA day. I have not slept since Monday night. I have not eaten since dinner since the night before.

May 11, 2016 I called AAA back and requested AAA employee to come help. The supervisor sent me AAA employee to troubleshoot my car. He determined that indeed a main fuse was blown. He called in to get a wrecker that was AAA Company owned and could fit in the parking garage. Both AAA guys that came were TRUE PROFESSIONALS who treated me as if I were a VIP! I eventually made it to Import Auto Maintenance on Broadway in downtown Nashville where I just found out that the contractor Rescue Professionals, who AAA dispatched, has damaged the Fusible block assembly. So far the repair is going cost $319.65, thankfully other than that only 5 smaller amperage fuses have been damaged.

AAA is not paying the repair I had to come out of pocket. I spent most of the day on the phone battling this and they suggested I call Rescue Professionals. I eventually got a call from AAA telling me a claim was submitted and they are waiting to hear from the owner of Rescue Professionals, Frank! He has to talk to the driver before determining if they will validate my claim.

May 16, 2016, I place a phone call to Dhanetta ** - AAA Service 'Monitor-Field Support' Member Communications. She advised me on Thursday that I should hear something by Friday evening and I would be updated. I called her today @ 13:06 and received voicemail. I immediately emailed asking for an update. 13:38 I received and email from Ms. ** claiming my case had been forwarded to a field manager. I recovered a call from Ms. ** at 15:53, she advised that I had 3 options: accept half the cost of the repair, file civil suit against Rescue Professionals, go to my local club and file another damage claim. I told her that was not acceptable that I did not call Rescue Professionals, I called AAA. She merely repeated herself twice, "Your three options are ...".

She advised me that the guy who investigated is the same guy that signed this new company. And they claim they have no tools on their trucks. My question for her is, "Why would I call AAA if I'm just going to do my own work". It doesn't make sense. I don't care who pays for the repair as long as it gets paid! This is insane that I've had to deal with this frustration and aggravation.

I am now home still waiting and they call me at 9 pm, they said the same thing that they were on the way.

Then I call at 10:30 and they tell me the tow should be there by 11:15... It is now 11:45 pm and no tow. So I call again and they finally tell me they are having problems locating a tow. And while on this call, they call me at the same time and FINALLY tell me no tow will be coming my way because they could not locate a tow for me... so I waited ALL afternoon under false pretense and false information given to me throughout the whole afternoon. Then the girl tells me I am stuck leaving my car there and being towed at my own expense because they will not reimburse me. They could have just told me this before and I would have found some other way to get my car towed. I attempted to get a truck that I purchased eighty miles away to my home so that I could get it repaired locally. After waiting over three and one half hours, I was told it wasn't in their policy to tow vehicles registered as non op without a one day moving pass. It was too late to get one, and I had to figure out how to get back home. Two days later, I got the moving permit. I called again for a tow and was told that two people from AAA misinformed me and they still weren't able to tow my vehicle.

I was then asked by "Steve," a supervisor, who told me it was OK. Mind you, I spoke with several people regarding this matter and couldn't remember. In so many words, Steve said he would be able to accommodate me if he knew their identities instead of honoring the error on their part and just tow my vehicle. He then told me that if he did authorize the tow, his job was on the line. Is it OK to tell a member we made a mistake, sorry that you're stranded over eighty miles from home, accept our errors and act like everything is peachy keen?

They say the conversation may be recorded but naturally they can't find where at least two of their agents told me I needed the one day working pass in order to have my vehicle towed. I definitely wouldn't have attempted to get it towed a second time if I wasn't given the green light with the pass in hand. The whole scenario made me realize how a company can tell you anything they want to about their "tailor made" policies after they have your money. My image of AAA is definitely a tarnished one after this fiasco and insult to my intelligence and character.

It must be delightful to have them as a reputable company since the tow truck drivers' poor judgment made them become the biggest morons in the entire nation. They've refused to tow my vehicle because they've falsely claimed my vehicle was modified. Why would I want to modify a daily driver vehicle? Modify to a certain extent is acceptable since Advance Auto Parts/Pep Boys/O' Reilly's also sells brand new, cost effective aftermarket parts that are equivalent to original manufacturer's parts. That's like stating, "I'm sorry, we're unable to tow your vehicle because it has tinted windows." "I'm sorry, we're unable to tow your vehicle because it has an Optima battery." Uh... yeah. Okay! Have they ever owned my vehicle? If not, they do not have the right to judge whether if the vehicle is able to be towed or not... Perhaps, discrimination plays a big role in our society today.

My husband and I have had Plus/Premier AAA service for over 31 years and when our daughter started driving we added her to the policy. We never really had to use them much except for a few tows with my Suburban which seemed to go alright. My daughter got stuck down in Orlando a couple of weeks ago and she called us. My husband who was a mechanic for 30+ years, thought it was the battery or a belt came off. We told her to call AAA to come and check the battery and belts as the car didn't start. When the assistance arrived he checked the battery and said it was bad. She asked him to see if the belts were okay and he said yes. He proceeded sell her a battery which she would have bought but he didn't have the right one. He charged it up and said she could drive to the nearest Wal-Mart to buy one. He hadn't left the parking lot yet and she tried to drive it but it just died.

He charged it again and checked the alternator which he said was good. She tried again but ended up just parking it but it began to die again. He just ended up leaving so the next day she had AAA tow it to our house. When my husband looked at it, he saw there was no belt on the alternator. We couldn't understand how he would say the belt was on it and then say the alternator was good if it wasn't even turning?? My husband put a belt on it and it was fine.

Also, when they towed it here, she has a Scion XB that has a spoiler in the front, (sits low). When they were letting it roll of the tow truck, the whole spoiler was catching and was ready to crack. I said something to him and he kept going. Then the chain got caught under the spoiler and he proceeded to try to yank it off. I was telling him to be careful because we just painted the bumper & spoiler. He won't stop so my husband had to reach under the car from the side to unhook it. What a nightmare! My husband and I were both shaking our heads at this disaster. Very disappointed with them as they don't know what they are doing. It's a shame they have gone so downhill. All that over a belt.

As a premier member of AAA, I am supposed to receive good service on the road, Mayo of City towing of Merced, CA came after waiting more than 45 minutes, the guy showed up, did not even offer me a water! This is required and a must when you're out stranded on the road in the heat. I specifically asked for a truck with air to fill a tire that was flat, A truck showed up and when he got there asked me for my AAA card. I gave it to him and told him I had a flat tire and the spare was low on air and all I needed was to get my tire aired up. He said he did not have air. He said he was very busy. He told me he could tow me and he also wanted to pick up another customer and tow them on the back of his truck and have us ride together since I lived in Los Banos and they were going to the same area.

I told him this was not acceptable; I asked him if he could send another truck with air like I asked the ERS dispatcher originally so as not to damage the tire. He responded No! That he was too busy. Then I asked if he could give me a ride to a service station where I could use the restroom and get something to drink, and get some air in my tire to see if it even holds air. And if it doesn't hold air, I would need to be towed to a tire shop. He agreed. I told him I didn't think that moving the vehicle on the spare tire that had low air was a good idea.

I suggested to put on the other tire that had a blowout previously (why I called in the first place). He refused, said he would not do that. He said it would be all right and that he does this all the time. He went to hook up the truck to my vehicle and told me to get in to steer it; and put the brakes on and put it in park while he used the wrench to pull it up onto the flatbed. I told him I was not comfortable doing that; he said, "You have to, if you want a tow!" So I reluctantly did this.

While the vehicle was being winched up onto the flatbed I heard some real loud noise coming from the front suspension where these big hooks were attached. After I got out; he hooked some chains to the back to secure it and really tightened the hydraulics until another loud noise came; then he stopped; I told him that didn't sound good. He replied, "That's nothing. I do this all the time." As we approached Merced, I spotted a Jack in the box and asked to stop and use the restroom. He refused, he said the gas station is right down there. He didn't have time for this and we sat in traffic at the lights for an additional ten to fifteen minutes.

When we got to the gas station there was no restroom. I went and got the air myself, started to air up my tire and the driver immediately stopped me, I got to let off some tension off the chains and then I went to try to air it up again and barely got 5 lbs of air pressure when he stopped me again saying, "Stop! Stop! You can finish airing up when I get it off the truck."; and I replied, "I don't know if it is even going to hold air. I would like to air it up." "You can finish airing up when I get it off the truck."

And I replied, "I want to wait a few minutes to see if it will hold air because if it doesn't, I will need to be towed to a tire shop. Like you agreed to earlier." He said, "I don't hear it leaking; I am dropping you here." He told me to get up onto the flatbed while it was at a 45 degree angle and put it in neutral; I told him, "I don't feel comfortable doing that; can't you do that? Isn't that your job?" He replied, "This is your van. If you don't want your ** damaged you'll get up there!"

It was filthy dirty - I got up there - it was all greasy and oily. I slipped and twisted my ankle injuring it and nearly fell off. My clothes were ruined. As he was lowering my vehicle, at a very sharp angle and very fast, I heard the bottom of my van scraping the cement. After the vehicle was on the ground, I got out and looked and noticed that there was a foot long scrape in the cement and right above this is where my plug used for trailer lights and socket and wiring was all pulled out. The bracket was bent. I walked down the street to a used tire shop and purchased a tire and had them mount and balance it. I went and put it on myself. On the drive home I noticed something wrong with my steering; it was now all over the road and something was bent or damaged and alignment damaged and it was steering perfectly prior to this damage done by Mayo of City Town of Merced, CA.

I feel that this call was useless and should be erased or taken off of my account. Also, I want the damages done to my vehicle covered. I recommend that City Town of Merced lose their account with AAA for this gross breach of customer service standards usually offered by AAA. This driver, Mayo, said he does this All the time. I wonder how many others have had this experience. Therefore City Town of Merced is not a good vendor or representative of AAA. We have been premier members of AAA since 2013, myself and my wife, and are seriously considering cancelling our membership due to this awful service given to us!

1.0-star rating, 4/2/2016. On May 2014 I bought a membership for AAA and I never needed to use it until last Monday. I had two flat tires. The first tow truck arrived one hour later after I requested the service at 9 pm. The guy told me I have to move my car by myself and sign a paper explaining I was doing to my own risk because one flat was completely on the ground. I thought he could change that flat tire by my spare, but for that request I needed a new request to AAA. I agreed to open a new request, but he said he will not change my flat tire and he left the place.

One hour later after many calls to AAA the guy to change the flat tire arrived and again many calls to found out when the tow truck would arrive, until 1:15 am when I decided to cancel the request until next morning and called a friend for a raid. Next morning I opened a new request to move my car two block to a repair shop near the place. After many call I decided to do it by myself with a good neighbor who took the tires to the repair shop. I thought AAA membership could give me the peace of mind if I have a situation like this, but I was completely wrong.

I just had the worst experience ever with a AAA company in Castro Valley. I ran out of gas while with my small child because my gas gauge is not accurate. I was told that someone would be on their way in no longer than 45 min. I waited and called when it had been 45 min. I called again to ask what was going on because I hadn't even received any call or message letting me know when someone would be here. I told them my small child was with me & that we needed to use a bathroom immediately, but they said there was nothing they could do. They told me the guy who was supposed to come help me was running 25 min behind & that he was having "trouble" installing a battery. They know how to install batteries. Someone wasn't doing their job.

I ended up having a really bad accident due to my stomachache and having to wait almost an HOUR AND 15 MIN. Had he gotten here by 45 min, I would have made it to a restroom! When the man got here, it was too late. I had to call my mother to come help me all the way from Walnut Creek. How ridiculous! This company is not dependable! I have had other bad experiences when it comes to waiting much longer than the time they tell you to expect them. I'm SO disappointed & unimpressed!

I called the credit card company to dispute the charge. After six months, I started receiving harassing calls from AAA.com for cancelling fee of $85 of the cancelled policy. When I opened the policy with AAA.com I specifically asked for a cancellation fee, I was told as no fee. Then AAA.com try to fake a policy to send to me to validating that fee. That document does not even shows anywhere for cancellation fee. When I asked AAA.com then, the manager cut and paste a policy saying fee in the email to validate this fee. Now, AAA.com not only charged this from me but also damaged my credit history for this fee. I never had such an experience with any other insurance company as AAA.com in the past.

I had always been impressed with AAA having been a member since 2002. However, my experience with this office in Tucson leaves a great deal to be desired. I came in to get an international driver's license and I was ignored by the person at the member concierge, Judy, while she counted change out of a register drawer for nearly 10+ minutes. No acknowledgement whatsoever, we were standing maybe 3 feet apart from each other. Then, when she finished what she was doing, she was gruff and unpleasant. Meanwhile in the office, another employee was yelling and bragging about how he had sold a bunch of trips, basically hooting and high five-ing everyone, the type of behavior one would rather not see as a customer who might have purchased anything from him.

Having moved here from another state, they refused to issue me a new card. It makes it difficult to get properly connected when I need service having the old card. My previous office in Tennessee requested them to do it and basically they refused according to my previous AAA office. In the paragraph below, to get the service for the lockout I was transferred 3 Times. The one time I needed service was for a lock-out of my vehicle, I realized this on a clear sunny afternoon at 4pm, it took AAA 1 hour and 15 minutes to arrive and the guy who came didn't acknowledge being late, said nothing to me the whole time. He was an official AAA employee, not a 3rd party. I'll be looking for service elsewhere and will be letting anyone who cares to know about my multiple poor experiences with Tucson AAA.

The driver was white male fairly young mid twenties respectful and apologetic admitting fault. I notified both female officers appeared very young same age as insured member of possible intoxication. They asked if I got all his info and were quick to dismiss stating "You're free to go." No driver license or procedure to collect a report seemed a cover up on a some many levels. Next day in person arrive at AAA office Long Beach branch was quickly given a claim adjuster and number. Then mysteriously I was transferred to a Bakersfield office claim adjuster and new claim number. Reason was the insurer had also reported the claim at the exact time doubtful.

I was up early that morning. No info on the incident had been logged or reported from the first adjuster. Been given the constant run around to collect the claim release forms are all submitted from all involved. Claim adjuster states that no release has been received from other party. Second victim involved fully covered has new vehicle from Progressive insurance. She has sent her release forms in confirmed by text. Claim adjuster for AAA in Bakersfield stalling on releasing the claim. As well the second victim college student may be manipulating the situation aware of my loss but not active with helping resolve the claim. Since every time the hold up is due to the second party victim. This process is typical to make the pro-active victim first responding to be the last in resolution.

AAA has become a CULT of unsupervised overpaid criminal enterprise built to live off the land. There are good AAA reps I've had experience with, but a major re-haul of who's doing the company financial justice. I mentioned that as soon the claims closure I would reactivate my duel car membership. There may never be due to the lack of concern or interest for business progression on any level from AAA from past reviews nationwide.

I have had AAA for more than 20 years. While we lived in New England I would say the service was fair/good. We move to Sarasota, FL In 1997. We never had a trouble with local tows. As everyone know the best thing about AAA is the long distance tow. This is the problem. We were traveling home to FL from MA, broke down on HWY20 in Annapolis, MD sat on the side of this extremely busy roadway for 7 hrs. The tow driver showed up with his girlfriend in the truck, no room in the tow truck for my husband. My husband had to ride in the van on top of the tow truck.

We moved to GA in 2001. Now we're live 25 miles from the nearest big town. We expect thing will take longer if we need service. After we bought a sm 19 foot motor home we purchased the Premier service because it covers the motor home. The very first trip in our motor home was a disaster. We broke down 175+ miles from home. We sat on the side of the road from 4pm until 10pm waiting for AAA to find a tow truck. The tow company arrived was very nice. Stop at a store so that we could get drinks then towed us to our home. The tow company owner and driver was extremely nice. We need to call AAA in the high heat of the summer in GA when we broke down in our car. We had to stand under so trees in a field up a hill off the road as it was over 100 degrees. We waited for more than 2 hours for a tow.

Several months later we plan a trip to Orlando, FL. Broke down on the way there. I was able to get the van off the hwy in to a church parking lot around 3pm. AAA sent a tow truck within 1 hour but the driver could not tow us as he did not have the right kind of truck. 4 hours later another tow truck arrived 7pm. This should have been it. The driver of the truck said he was there to pick up a 30 passenger van. He said our motor home was too big for his truck. I asked him how long his flat bed was. He said 24 foot. Our motor home is 19 feet. He refused to tow us. He kept saying our motor home is 30 feet. I had paper work showing the size. Also AAA had towed this before so they had in their records of the length of the motor home. Nevertheless the driver refused to tow us and left. The company was (INTERSTATE 75 TOWING).

Back to AAA. Round after round of phone calls with us now being told the dispatchers are all gone home for the night and we would have to stay the night somewhere, "but don't worry we have 24 hour concierge service." (I recommend you never use this service) I call explained our situation and am told he would make arrangement and call me back. He called back within a short time. He was trying to make a reservation in a town 30 east of where our van broke down. This would mean taking a cab to and from the location of the van. I did not think this was a good idea. I asked him for the phone number of the taxi so that I could call them myself. I hung up, called the taxi, ask him where the nearest place to stay was. He gave me the number, I call, found out they had a room, call the taxi back and went to the Holiday Inn Express. Arrived in the room at 11:30pm. A long and frustrating day.

I must have spoken with 20 different people at AAA repeating the whole problem over and over. Finally a supervisor told me she had documented everything that had happened. She gave me a number to use when I called in the morning to give the number to the agent. Surprise! The agent had no idea what I was talking about. Tell it all again. Finally a tow truck was found. The company owner was extremely nice. She sent the driver to pick us up at the hotel. Unfortunately there was a parade in Inverness, FL that morning. There was no way around it to get to our motor home. The company/driver were nice never getting angry. When we could finally get to our motor home he was able to put it on his 21 foot flat bed truck. We finally got close to our destination about 2pm more than 24 hours after leaving on a 5 hour drive. I WILL NOT RENEW MY MEMBERSHIP.

First time took 4 hours and the AAA driver told me he had to come over from New York state. Since then I moved to St, Johnsbury, VT and I needed a jump this AM, called and was advised 1-1/2 hours which didn't surprise me. I received a call from the driver at 1-1/2 hours later and was told another 45 minutes... Np yet! But, another 1-1/2 later (now 3 hours) I called back and was told 10 minutes.

Twenty minutes later two guys show up in a truck from New Hampshire... carrying a quick start battery. They hook it up and one of the guys gets in the car to crank it and starts pumping the gas pedal (car is Fuel injection). Anyway he flooded it and now their portable battery was getting weak so they asked if the neighbor's car could be used for a jump. I arranged that and I got in the car and finally got it started. AAA Northern New England road service in Caledonia and Orleans county really is bad due to low number of service trucks or subcontractors and the "cowboys" that often show up trained as farm mechanics.

I called AAA a few days ago and talked to a sales agent to get an auto policy quote for my vehicle. She asked me personal information including my full name, driver's license number, my driving history, and details of my vehicle. At the end of the Q&A session, she appreciated me for being upfront and honest about the incidents on my vehicle. She gave me a quote of $102 monthly premium and clearly told me that this rate has been calculated after accounting for the incidents (all no-fault) I've had on my vehicle in the past. She lured me into purchasing the policy immediately by telling that a delay might cause my rate to increase because of a very recent incident due to an additional driver on my policy which their system could not see at the time.

Three days later, the agent herself called me on my mobile notifying me of an increase in the monthly premium from $102 to $113. When asked about the reason, she told me that she had not put in my full name into the system and blamed the system for a mistake of hers. Seven days later, I received the policy details in mail. I was surprised to see a monthly premium of $127. I called the agent the same day and this time she told me that the reason for increase in the monthly premium was because of the incidents (non-fault) I've had in the past. She did not explain the reason and the insurance rules convincingly.

Two days later, I called her back to have my policy cancelled because I felt I was cheated by the agent. She would not even say another word (except 'have a good day') and she would just end the call. Her voice lacked the courtesy she had shown in my first call with her. She was very rude, reticent, and showed no respect to the customer. I would never be a customer of AAA. Neither will I recommend it to anyone else.

Now belong to AAA of the Carolinas and have taken my car several times to the Wilmington Oleander Drive location. Initially, service was good. Most recently, took car for oil change and complimentary inspection in early December. Told me I needed power steering fluid (every other mechanic I've spoken to said that's a ripoff), new battery (OK, got a discounted price as I had a 4 year old AAA battery - in future will buy more reliable batteries) and was told a wheel axle was causing the noise I mentioned. Wheel bearings were rated in the "green" zone (good). Did not feel comfortable with the service there and stated I was going to another shop for an estimate. Manager said "Well let me know what they would charge and I'll see what I can do for you."

RED FLAG -- if you can't give me your best price initially, why would I want to do business with you? Took car to a shop that had helped me in the past. While driving home my car experienced odd electrical issues similar to that of an alternator failing. The reason I suspected the alternator is b/c I have been through that repair 3 times before over the last 5 years. So I contacted AAA to arrange a tow for the car. The very nice woman over the phone helped arrange a tow truck. During the conversation she asked if it was ok to have the car towed to a local AAA care center for repairs. There would be a 10% discount on all services. I thought sure why not, it is just the alternator. I knew at the very most they would charge is 600$ and with 10% off I could live with 540$.

After pickup, which was prompt, I received a phone call from the service tech telling me that the alternator was no longer working. I said, "Really" (acting surprised). "Ok, what is the price?" 736.00$-- My first reaction was total shock. I asked, "736.00? Why so much? I had an alternator replaced before and it was not even close to that price." He said, "It was really the labor, 2.8 hours." I was ok with that. I had made an attempt to replace an alternator in the past and vowed never to do again. So 2.8 hrs of labor seemed more than fair. However, the cost for the alternator was nearly 400$ which is insane. So I explained that "This is our 3rd car and if you do not mind searching around for a better price, even if it takes a few days, I will wait." He said sure and would call me tomorrow. Great!!!

Early the next morning I got the call that the local Nissan dealership had the part for 200$. Great. Total price with labor 550$-- Perfect… Proceed with the work. Later that day I received a phone call that they had found other problems. It appeared my engine damping bracket was leaking oil onto the wiring harness causing the wires to fail. I said, "Ok, let me hear you clearly. You said oil is leaking from a part that contain hydraulic fluid." "No, no... You are also leaking hydraulic fluid. The oil is coming from the failed valve covers. So the whole wiring harness has to be changed. The price now is 1330$." OH no. I must have really pissed these guys off by asking for them to do just a small amount of work to save me a few dollars.

Now my first thought is get a tow truck and get my car out of there, but that would cost at least another 200$, plus having another shop look at the car. After time and energy spent I am probably coming in at 1300$. I said, "Just fix it." I have learn my lesson LORD, I will never take my car to AAA again. So, a day later I get a call. It is a miracle they do not have replace the wiring harness. They were able to do something that did something that did not cost much. What the hell ever. Just give me my car so I can put this nightmare behind me. The new price 975$... fine, great, when can I get the car. Tonight!

So, I arrive for the first time to a very nice looking center, and it all begins to make sense. The guy I had been working with over the phone was not a service tech, he is basically a salesman who knows nothing about cars. Our total conversation was complete b/s. They play on people's ignorance and sell them on whatever they think you can pay. So I paid 975$. Get the car, check for dents, and am on my way. In the car for 5 mins and begin to hear this odd sound coming from behind the firewall on the passenger side of the car. Well **. It was late, I have a crazy busy day at work. I will deal with it tomorrow. So I call and explain the problem to the "service tech" who tells me to bring it in after work.

I arrive a 635 pm and he tells me to have a seat and they will pull it in the garage to look at. They close in 20 mins, they are not going to be able to diagnosis the issue in 20 mins. I said, "Keep it and look at tomorrow." He said, "Fine." Next day arrives, no phone call, I call them around 5 pm and find out no one has even looked at the car. Why would they, I have already overpaid for services. I was told the tech who worked on the car was off and he will be in tomorrow. Fine. At 830 am I get a call. Drum roll please. Tire roar... "Your tires are cupped and you are hearing tire roar." I said, "Sir this is a noise that was not there before I brought it to you. Tire roar does not appear overnight." I attachly takes several years of not caring for your tires for tire roar to set in. I made the statement that I will be coming to explain the problem so they know exactly what I am describing.

I am writing this story with the car still in the shop. I have decided to just get the car and have someone else look at it. I am tired and have learned my lesson and just want to end this insanity. I will never call or take my car to another AAA center again. Oh by the way they also overcharged my credit card for the towing service. Quoted 24$ to cover what my AAA membership did not cover. I was charged the entire bill. I am new to the area and know all too well that a good mechanic is almost as important as a good school.

I stopped on the side of U.S. 22 in Illinois to sketch the scenery, then backed up to get a better view. My right rear tired backed into a narrow ditch and the left rear tire was in the air. I called roadside assistance and the agent wanted to know what crossroad I was near. I told him there was none nearby. He said he needed a street name in order to call for assistance. I explained I was five or six miles from Elizabeth, Illinois. He said that was not good enough; I needed to give him the name of a crossroad. I became angry as we repeated this conversation for at least five minutes. He said that yelling was not going to help. I hung up. Strangers finally stopped and got me out of the ditch.

Months later, when my membership expired, I called my local AAA office to explain why I was not renewing my membership. The agent transferred me to the complaints department. I repeated my story and the agent expressed concern and said she would listen to the recording of my conversation and have someone speak to the agent who refused me service. (Someone would explain that requests for help should be granted.) Days later she returned the call and said he had been advised as to how to act. I will not renew my membership with a company that does not care enough about its non-existent service, and yet wants more of my money!

It was a clear beautiful day Sunday, for three hours there are towns up here in Colorado that are close and could have answered the call. Denver is 100 miles away and is a two-hour drive. I know that could have worked for that time frame and so I called AAA to cancel the call. I have been a loyal paying customer for over 20 years and this is the worst service I have received in that time. I know I have had others but this was the one that took forever and never got a call that they were on the way.

My car would not start so I called the phone number on the AAA card for roadside assistance. The recording that answered said I could use their app. Tried that, it did not work. Went online to place request for assistance and the page that came up said to call the number on the card. Called the number on the card again and was on hold for over an hour. Battery on phone was going out so I called the local AAA office where I was told their entire site was down. The reason I have this service is in case of a need for roadside assistance which was non-existent. How can they offer a service and then not provide it? Why keep a customer on hold for an hour and not tell them their site is down and they are not answering the phones? Now I have been waiting over 2 hours for a tow truck to show up that was recommended by the local AAA office and I have to pay for it up front with the hope that AAA will reimburse me.

This used to be a good company. What has happened to the customer service? I have been a member for 18 years, and today needed assistance being pulled out of a ditch. After the initial call for assistance, I waited half an hour and called back to get any kind of status or update. I was told they still don't have anyone available. I asked if there was any kind of time frame they could give me as I was half in a ditch. They said "no", and that the area I live in doesn't have a lot of trucks available. Are you kidding me? I live by the Virginia Beach Boardwalk, not in the middle of nowhere! The service was incredibly rude. Wrong people working there to assist with people needing roadside help. I was pretty desperate for help and did not like hearing that there was nobody currently available, but they would call me as soon as they found someone...

What was worse was after asking if there was any kind of time frame they could give me at all, being told, "no, no time frame". Fifteen minutes later they call and say that someone should be there in ANOTHER HOUR AND TEN MINUTES. Hard to believe that they cannot get anyone to help me within 30-40 mins of my initial call. After my husband got home, and a nice helper to assist, they towed me out of the ditch. Just as I was about to call AAA to tell them not to bother, the tow truck shows up! Too late! After 18 years of paying my annual dues, I will not be renewing. I probably would not have been so upset if the people on the phone had been a little more courteous.

I think that the calls for AAA dispatch get a much lower priority. And I can't understand why the people on the phone were leading me to believe that it could take several hours to get pulled from the ditch. Glad I had some other people around to do it! This company is not worth the annual fees. They may leave you stranded...

AAA came out and refused to replace the battery because I didn't put enough miles on the car in the two years. I put 13,000 but they told me I had to put 14,000 miles on it or the warranty was voided. Nowhere on the warranty did it say that. I signed a contract with them and was supposed to get a free battery but they made up new exclusions that weren't in the original contract. How illegal! Add insult to injury, they charged me $75 trip charge because I'm not a member anymore and they didn't replace the battery. I would never recommend AAA to anyone. When I went outside to receive my car, after being alerted by AAA that my car had arrived at my residence, the car was on an old tow truck that was pulling it from the back with the front pointed towards the ground. I drove my car around the block to ensure that the mechanic fixed it and the bottom started to leak fluid from being dragged on the street.

I immediately took pictures and called to make a complaint. AAA said they don't have any responsibility because the company that towed it is an independent contractor. That, of course, is ridiculous as the consumer has no input into which what tow company they use. I've been given the runaround for two months now and the tow truck is even claiming that they towed it on a dolly. AAA is great as long as nothing goes wrong. Now I must spend my time and effort on a lawsuit; good thing I have a law degree and can do my own suit otherwise I would have to pay for that also.

While travelling back from Atlanta, I hit a rut in the road that caused my run-flat tire to blow. It took about 20 minutes to realize the tire was kaput. We drove to the nearest tire center (Wal-mart) and they informed us they did not carry run-flats. So, I have AAA Premier and it offers 100 miles free towing. We were about 70 miles from home. I called AAA, and was informed I had only Basic Membership. I said "no, you sent a re-instatement form and we sent that back." The customer service rep says, "yes, we re-instated you at basic, not premier." I said, "that's what re-instatement means, putting me back where I was, not Basic." We argued for a while but she would not do anything. So, we had to have the car towed to the nearest Discount Tire ($100). It was also after 6 pm so we had to spend the night ($150) and we had to wait until 3 pm the next day to get the run flat delivered there.

We opted to buy a regular tire so we could leave first thing and head home. We took the car to the Discount Tire in town and they gave us credit for the non-run-flat. Too bad AAA isn't like Discount Tire! So, I called customer service and lodged a complaint. I felt they should reimburse me for all these fees because had they RE-INSTATED me, we would not have had the fees, or at least offer me a few years free membership.

My first call was Oct 7. No one ever called me back and I called again today, 12/7. I spoke with manager Mara and although she agreed with my reasoning, she could not do anything except upgrade my current membership to Premier. It was ridiculous! She kept saying I understand but it was not genuine. If it was, they would have apologized for the inconvenience of their misrepresenting mailers and helped me. I guess at least I got something out of it - knowledge that it's not worth it. Even when you have the service, you can't get what you pay for. At least not in my case. You look down at your dash and notice that the battery light is on, then the check engine light starts flashing, then the oil light pops on, all in the matter of about 30 seconds. You pull over to the side of the road and think Now what? I'm a single female on a dark interstate and my car is broke down. "Never fear," you tell yourself, "this is why I have AAA, I will call them and ask them to send a tow truck." So you call AAA they tell you someone will be there within the hour. Ok, that's reasonable enough.

An hour goes by, two hours go by so you call AAA back and ask them where the tow truck is. They keep you on the line and say one will be there in 30 min, they had a delay. Ok, I'm a little aggravated but I try to be understanding. Another hour has gone by, by now I have been broke down on the side of the road for almost three hours. I call AAA again and they tell me that they will call another tow company. After sitting by the side of the road for almost 4 hours, a tow truck appears. The driver acts shocked that I have been sitting there for almost 4 hours as he only got the call an hour prior. Because I was 20 miles from home I had to pay the 4 per mile towing fee.

I called AAA the next morning to complain and to cancel my membership. After all, I could have called a tow truck myself and spent the same amount of money and less time getting my car towed to the mechanics. I had just renewed my membership as mine was set to expire in two weeks. I was told that I was not going to be able to get my money back because I had already prepaid them. After basically going ghetto fabulous on the person on the phone I was transferred to a supervisor who told me my refund would be on my credit card statement in two to three weeks.

We shall see because if it isn't. I'm going to dispute the charges. Bottom line guys, don't waste your money on AAA. Always carry a phone with you so at the very least you can dial 911 and get some assistance. You would be better off paying out of pocket to get your car towed or when you have a dead battery asking someone to give you a jump so you can get to the nearest auto parts store. Rip off... I called AAA because I needed a battery jump. They came (they sent 2 men, really 2 men to jump a car??) with the sole intent of selling me a new battery. All Town Towing walked up with a new battery, no jumper cables, no charger...he came and said "you need a new battery". I insisted I didn't because my battery was only 3 years old, had recently been tested as "good" by Acura, the lights and radio in my car were working, so told him I just needed a jump, he got huffy and went to get his portable charger which he set up and it did not charge (I doubt he actually set it up to charge). And then he said again "you need a new battery". I was livid. I asked him to jump my car with jumper cables. He said he didn't bring any!!

I just needed a jump. I was late for work and he knew it. He said "are you going to buy a new battery or not because your battery is dead". He did not test the battery, as I said he walked in with new battery in hand, no charger, no tester, no jumper cables. He repeated that I have no choice, either I buy a battery or my car stays there! I was in a bind and ended up buying the battery...he takes my credit card and takes a picture of it with his cell phone!! REALLY?? No way to swipe it I asked, he says no this is how they do it...how unsafe is that!! I was furious. I asked him if I could keep my battery (because I planned to test it later on) and he said it would cost me $20 core charge...so I let it go having already spent $150 on the new battery that I knew I did not need.

My car is an Acura, I was just at Acura a few months ago and they did a battery check and battery checked good. It was only 3 years old. So later in day I called AAA and filed a formal complaint against these thieves. I spoke with supervisor Jeff who was very helpful and gave me some hope that I had recourse. He told me another agent would contact All Town Towing and they would straighten it all out. That is where it went downhill.

Don ** (the field AAA agent) called me and said he talked to All Town Towing and they insisted they tested my battery and it would not hold a charge. I argued about this lie, but Don chose to believe All Town Towing (who by the way has a C rating from BBB). All Town Towing conveniently did not have my battery. I wanted my battery back to test it, but Don said they got rid of it...although no proof was offered. I said to Don that All Town Towing has every reason to lie but I do not have one reason to lie. Why would I waste my time and energy if I really needed a battery. If they tested it I would have agreed, but they did not test it, they did not even attempt to charge it with jumper cables. They clearly came with the intent to sell and they used intimidation and trickery.

Don **'s solution was for me to go buy another battery and he would then reimburse me the AAA battery fee. So now it cost me extra time, as I had to take it to Acura for a new battery, which cost me $165 plus $18 core fee because AAA wanted their battery back! AAA will not refund me the core fee, so this one call to AAA cost me $183 for a battery I did not need. I don't understand how AAA could do business with a company that has a C rating on BBB. And what I really do not understand is how AAA does not back a long standing client. I and my family have been AAA members since 1999. AAA did not have my back and they cost me time and money. My AAA membership runs out in December and I will not renew (I would cancel except they charge a $10 cancellation fee!). My husband, my sons and their wives are also not renewing in December.

I have had a jump start twice this year for two separate cars and both times the service person from AAA said I needed a new battery. The first time I bought a new battery but then I caught on the second time around. The service person said exactly the same thing about my battery, that I had worn it down to 0 and not matter how long I drove the car it would never get back up to 500. I didn't buy the new battery but drove my car and recharged it back up to over 500 in one driving session. I haven't had any issues with the battery since. Buyer Beware... Take the jump and drive your car before buying a new battery... You probably don't need one.

Right before he came I called another company who showed up in literally 7 minutes. I got my $75 back from AAA and will never use them again. I would be embarrassed to be a part of that company.

The whole reason for starting to get AAA in 2008 was because I was single and didn't have family living around me to help for the "just in case". I've used it 2x before but for my car. Tonight my fiance, who has been on the same account for a while also, needed it to tow the motorcycle after he got a flat on the expressway at 9 pm. When he tried to get a tow truck the dispatcher informed him that our account does not have that option and was UNABLE to get a tow. Ridiculous! When I pay for something it should work! My rep had helped me pick out this coverage in 2010 specifically for the motorcycle coverage. All I want to do is cancel right now. What a waste! I do NOT recommend this service for motorcycles because it does not work! I am waiting for a phone call from my current rep to cancel.

However, at the time my husband was out and when he returned he informed we had such coverage with Auto ins. carrier. Not 15 minutes since I did the deal with AAA, I called back to cancel.

They THEN inform me there is a $10 per member cancellation fee. That part was not mentioned to me in my "sign up" conversation. I was connected with a supervisor, Tammy, who explained to me that their computer system did not have a cancel/delete option. "Sorry." When I asked her why this fee wasn't explained to me on my sign up call, her reply was, "No way could we provide all rules and regulations in a phone call because we would be on the phone for hours. You should have done this online so you could have read all of the clauses in print." AAA seems to be yet another money grab company.

Kind of a no-brainer. Also, AAA is the only one that will replace free for 3 years, the others are 2. When I called yesterday, they said someone would come within 2 hours. They were here 10 minutes later, checked to make sure it wouldn't charge - I knew that, car is 8 1/2 years old - put in a new battery, and she was gone in 30 minutes. How can you beat that?! Vehicle was immobile on a Sunday evening at 7:30 at a convenience store near major traffic artery downtown Orlando. Called AAA. They promptly placed the order request with Elite Towing - AAA indicating that the tow would arrive within an hour, that I needed to remain with vehicle.

Called at 1 hour having had no contact from AAA or Elite. Was then told it would be 2 hours. At 2 hours + with no arrival of tow called again and was told Elite was stuck on another call and could not make it. AAA offered to provide another tow operator. At hour 3+ 15 minutes received notification that tow operator 10 miles away might be able to be there within the hour. Told AAA to cancel the request and not place it against the Membership Quota. Continued to receive calls from AAA and other tow operator up to midnight.

I am OK with AAA being slammed and backed up - but they need to be transparent and accurate about their time frames. The customer should not be learning of major delays only after they call back when the tow operator busted the deadline repeatedly. AAA has my text enable phone number and e-mail. Either would have worked just fine. I ended up pushing it to my residence which is about a block from the convenience store.

The first hour passed and it was very dark. Cars northbound were ten feet from our car, a 1949 Olds, with very little lights and no 4-way flashers. A kind motorist from Jacksonville passed, turns around at the next possible cut in the median and was able to give us enough gas to make it back to the Love gas station at the intersection of I 95 and US 1.

My wife and are still shaking from the terrifying thoughts of being struck by any one of the 100's of autos speeding by, changing lanes and playing "Daytona International Speedway". We had nowhere to go to get away from the vehicle and had to "ride it out". The issue happened, luckily, right in front of my own house, on the street. My husband is at home, so I called in the tow while not at home. I left my AAA card with my husband, just in case they need to see it or talk to someone, and they told me that my husband isn't covered and I need to be with the car to get it towed. It's my car, in front of my house, and my husband can't stand in for me???

On top of that, after I added him to the policy for a large fee, the customer service representative proceeded to interrupt me repeatedly as I tried to give him the information he needed, and then moments later asked me a question which was EXACTLY the information he had JUST interrupted me about! I told him that, he interrupted me AGAIN, and said "oh well I wasn't at the point in the program where I could put that information in." Really? It was like a 5-minute conversation. Let me speak, obviously if I'm calling for emergency roadside assistance I'm probably having a bad day, just let me SPEAK, maybe take notes (you're at work, right? you're a customer service representative, right? Maybe you should learn to be polite.).

I finally got off the phone with this jerk practically crying, since every one of the four people I spoke with today was rude, and I feel TRAPPED because I don't know of any other companies that offer this service. They were all bullies, and they were mean, and customer service representatives should be experts at making upset people feel better, not worse. I felt fine when I called them. Now I'm fuming.

In our current area (Madison, Wisconsin - a pretty big city, the state capitol, home to UW) service is horrible. Madison has 1 AAA service provider who comes in from another city. He makes a great effort, but being the only one doing it and living farther out, the waits for any type of help (e.g., my 16 year old son sitting in a broken down car in 4 lane traffic) are inevitably hours long. And the service he is able to provide that is covered is very limited (e.g., 5 miles towing max). We get occasional hotel discounts, but overall not worth the $$. I called at 9 pm to get a jump start for a Toyota Highlander Hybrid. I was very clear with AAA dispatch that this was a hybrid and I needed the charge box used for deep-charging hybrids (this is what I've been told to tell AAA dispatch by a AAA supervisor in the past). AAA sent out a service person who did not have the correct equipment to jump my car. This service person informed me they do not jump hybrids.

I called AAA back and they informed me that they do not have any contracts with any service stations in San Francisco that jump start hybrids. I told them that this is crazy since every 3rd car in San Francisco is a hybrid, plus they have sent service trucks to jump my car in the past. The supervisor said he wouldn't know about service for hybrids or types of cars in San Francisco as he is located in Utah. He told me I needed to call a service station on my own outside of AAA network and apply for a reimbursement of services after the fact. He suggested I call my Toyota dealership.

I waited 'til next morning to call my dealership. They were surprised that AAA would tell me to call them to find a service station outside of their network. The Toyota shop said they would call a service garage they use all the time for hybrids, however they said this service station was under AAA contract and I should make AAA call them instead of them calling and me paying upfront and waiting for reimbursement from AAA. When I called AAA they were reluctant at first and finally gave in to call the service company 3 miles from my location, under AAA contract and capable of starting my car.

I am curious why AAA was reluctant to help me and wondering are they making things difficult at the expense of their customers for in order to boost their profits. I am a AAA plus member and have been a loyal member for 30+ years. I am now wondering why am I continuing to pay for a service I am not receiving. BTW - this is the first service call I have made to AAA in 2 years. When the service vehicle finally arrived 16 hours after my initial call, they were surprised that AAA, didn't call them directly in the first place. I was informed that AAA will sometimes tell you to go outside of their network with the promise of reimbursement but will only cover the cost. No wonder customers are leaving AAA in droves - this is not good business practice.

On Friday, October 2nd, 2015, my wife and I drove to Hueston Woods near Oxford, Ohio where I was to attend a University of Dayton official retreat. The area was spectacular, and our accommodations were truly wonderful. We spent a great night and the following morning, with me attending the official sessions and finally a working lunch on Oct 3rd. Around 1 pm, our meetings were over, and my wife and I were ready to start our drive back home (about 40-45 minutes back to Springboro, OH under normal conditions). Unfortunately, after having taken many pictures in the wonderful resort-like surroundings, we got inside our 2010 Honda Insight (which is in top condition, and I am still making monthly payments), and found out that the car simply would not start. Other than making dull, moaning sounds, it would not even crank.

After some attempts at reviving the car, I realized that I must have left the interior light (which I had turned on the previous evening to read my directions to Heston Woods) on, and therefore the battery had clearly run down overnight in the cold and rainy weather. Around 1:30 PM, I called the 800 number for the local AAA (Miami Valley, Cincinnati, Dayton - whichever one would send someone along to jump start my car) to explain to him what my problem was, and what help was needed. Normally, one would expect this to be fairly straightforward. Not so with AAA for the next 3 hours. They repeatedly kept switching me over to different centers (I have even forgotten where all these were - Indiana, Cincinnati, perhaps a half-a-dozen others) to discuss the problem. Each time, I had to enter a great slew of numbers, standing outside in the rain (since the connection inside the Lodge was poor), before I found someone to talk to.

Eventually, they told me someone would get there in 30-45 minutes. I waited the requisite 45 minutes or so, and then called again to find out what was going on. Each such call back took a large sequence of call transfers (note that they had not given me any case # - something AAA would do in years past so that they would know which case they were handling, and provide quick updates). Several times thereafter, they gave me multiple 30-45 minute target times. In between, I received a cell phone message from AAA saying the battery-recharge guy would show up at 3:52pm (which would have been 2 1/2 hours from my first call).

I became very concerned at this stage, since our daughter back home had a Homecoming gathering arranged at home that evening, and we had assumed we would be back long before that. The above display of inefficiency went on till well past 4 pm, at which point my wife had the brilliant idea of asking a Park's person if he might be able to give us a jump start. Within minutes, the gentleman drove his pick-up next to our car; we opened up the hoods, connected the jumper cables (with his engine on), and I got inside my car and turned the key. Voila! The car started up immediately.

We thanked the Hueston Woods Park's gentleman for his timely help, and were on our way home. AAA used to be an excellent resource for years when I lived in N-E U.S. (upstate New York). In the past 10+ years (in SW-Ohio), I have had rather bad experiences with AAA in terms of services (with occasional exceptions on the plus side). This one in Hueston Woods was one of the worst. Had it not been for the Park Services' Good Samaritan, we might have been there much longer, and missed out on the other important activities we had been slated for later that evening. I am writing this negative review with the hope that AAA will make every effort to improve their emergency service performance, and streamline the means of reaching a client both ways.

I've been a member for 4 years as an addition to my family account which has been active for about 20 years. In that whole family membership, the service has been used 3 times. My wife and I took our jeep down a public access road to a local spot at the lake. Mind you, we live in Utah for school, and live in farm country where the city builds roads out of dirt and gravel. We arrived at the lakefront and realized there was no parking, so we pulled forward onto what we thought was dirt, but turned out to be mud. After 1 hour of working to get out, we called AAA (CA club). They said because we were "off-roading", we weren't covered and gave us a number for a tow company.

The tow truck arrived and it was a AAA affiliate company. Using a standard winch, he pulled us the 10 feet back onto the city built gravel road. He then told us that we should have been covered by AAA because he pulled out from the road. He told us how to file the request and was on his way. We went to the local AAA office and they said we would be fine to get the reimbursement, until they realized we were California club members and said we would have to go through them. We sent in the forms and we're quickly denied our request ($300) because we we're outside of our coverage.

I called the number provided and they fought me on it. I had them call the company in hopes that he would speak with the guy that towed us, but they spoke with someone else who said there was no way we were telling the truth. So the AAA agent again told me we were out of luck and ended the call. I then called the tow company and spoke with the guy that the agent spoke with about the matter.

This is what I learned: I was declined because the road that I was on was not paved with asphalt. He told me the second I left the asphalt highway for the gravel road, AAA requires them to count that as unsafe towing conditions and charge out of pocket. That means that if I go into farm country (5 minutes of the I-15) to drop off rent to my landlord, I am not covered for ANY AAA service that I have paid for because the county does not pour asphalt on each road around my apartments. Nowhere in the brochures or Member's Guide (which they condescendingly add to your request declined packet) does it say that county constructed gravel roads are not covered. Not even ones with a city posted sign marking the "Public Beach Access".

So here's the better option. Most car insurance companies can add a Roadside benefit to your policy just to sweeten the deal, but if not, try this: Set up a special account (savings, PayPal, Apple wallet, Google pay, etc.) which withdraws the annual fee for AAA membership from your bank account each year and by the time you actually need a tow or something else, you have don't have to worry about whether you fall into a gap of service like driving on the wrong type of public road.

The representative I spoke with was very rude and unhelpful and was not interested in troubleshooting to determine what the problem was. She only offered to remove my account so I could re-register. I did not want to do that. While we were talking I kept trying to log in and finally had success. At that point she told me that she had clicked on a link to activate the new email address. When I asked her why she never told me they had sent me an email with a link that I was supposed to click on to activate the new email address, she responded with, "I wasn't communicating very well". I purchased AAA Basic Plan on 9/13/15 when our car broke down on our 19 year old daughter and my hubby was out of town with our other vehicle. Customer service was VERY polite and helpful. THE SAME DAY SERVICE HAS A CATCH when buying a NEW MEMBERSHIP. If you buy the Basic Plan, there is not a $145 same day service fee. If you buy the Plus or Premium, there is! The service call was put in at 9:03 am on a Sunday and the car was delivered to our home via the tow truck at 11:05 am. The tow truck driver had to pull over since his truck was overheating. How ironic since that is what happened to our car!

After all was said and done, I called our auto insurance company to see if they offered roadside and they did for a fraction of the cost of AAA. I wish I had known this ahead of time. Progressive charges $12 per year for better coverage to AAA's $75… BIG OUCH!! The only difference with AAA is that my daughter is the one covered, not a specific vehicle. She has AAA in any vehicle she is driving or is a passenger in. The coverage isn't tied to a vehicle like it is with Progressive, BUT for those rates, we could put all our cars on Progressive Roadside and still have money left over. I am happy with AAA's service, but I am not happy with the price compared to our insurance company!

My father was a member of AAA for 25 years and recently passed away. I was an associate member on his membership for 20 years. I called to notify them that he had passed away and that I wanted to continue my membership. I was told that I needed to bring a death certificate and his power of attorney to an office in order to do that because I might be trying to commit fraud. My mother has Alzheimer's disease and it is difficult to get her places, no one there cared. Apparently there is a HUGE problem with towing fraud. I tried to apply online for my own membership but could not because my email is linked to my father's account, welcome to AAA circular hell.

Sent an email for help and got a response addressed to my father! Sure, they read my email that clearly stated my father had passed away. Replied to that, asked to be called, no call. Sent another email asking for call, got a call. Unable to help because it is their "policy" to require a death certificate or power of attorney. Heard about their policy six more times and again stated I might be trying to commit fraud. Their lack of sensitivity is appalling. Like the other reviewers I have never been so angry in my life. My family's loyalty to them is apparently misplaced. My advice is to get a different roadside assistance company. AAA has no compassion.

We have been AAA Plus members for almost two decades. Rarely have we used the service. Last night my son (who is on the membership) broke down in a bad area of Boston at 4 pm. We quickly arranged for AAA to tow him and the car out of there. They first stated they would be there within 30 minutes. They did not show up. We called every half hour for FOUR hours. Each time they said the driver was "10 minutes away" or "right around the corner". These obvious lies led us to believe our son was safe when in fact, he was left on a dangerous Boston Street (Dorchester section) well into the evening, well after dark. He witnessed drug deals and shady characters throughout the ordeal. Had we known, we would have immediately extracted him from there hours earlier.

This company, when we finally did need them after all these years of paying our membership, not only failed miserably, but created an extremely dangerous environment for my child, putting his safety at extreme risk. If you have children, or simply don't like to be lied to, find another service right away!! We have. One more note... Towards the end of the ordeal, when I called for the NINTH time to provide an address to the car, this AAA operator was so rude and unhelpful. She obviously hated her job and the people with whom she deals.

Was told the driver was on his way and would be there within 15-20 minutes. 40 minutes later I called, was put on hold for 5 minutes, then inquired again about my roadside service. Was put on hold again for 5 minutes, then told they could not reach the driver and they would call me back. Ten minutes later I received a text that the driver would arrive within another 30 minutes. All this in the middle of the day, no rush hour traffic, no snow or weather-related delays. One minute before the driver finally arrived I was able to get my car started and I told him that I wanted to cancel my AAA. He said, "O, you want to cancel the call?" My car broke down in a somewhat rural area in Virginia so I called AAA to get a tow truck. It took forever to get it through the rep's head where I was pulled over -- a rural area does *not* have a street address and the cross-streets are few and far between. Still, I managed to get across where I was located. After I gave the rep all the info, my cell phone lost the call. Still, she'd said she'd contacted the towing company and the truck would be there in 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, I called back -- to discover that she had never placed the order. The call dropped, she shrugged, and went on to the next call.

So I started again with the new rep. It took another 15-20 minutes to explain where I was (rural = no street address), and I was told it would take 45 minutes for the tow truck to arrive. After 45 minutes, I called back -- to discover that SHE had never placed the order. God knows why, but she didn't. So I started AGAIN with ANOTHER rep. It took another 15-20 minutes to explain where I was, and I was told it would take 45 minutes for the tow truck to arrive. Half an hour later, this little guy finally called a towing company. The driver called me and said it would be ANOTHER 45 minutes before he could arrive; he was heading to a call that was 20 miles in the opposite direction.

I've been a AAA member for 20+ years and have never had any serious problems before now. I have never experienced this level of gross incompetence and disregard for a customer. I called AAA and complained -- repeatedly, which is why Brittany from Member Relations finally left me a message. Brittany apologized sincerely, and she used her Sincere voice. "I sincerely apologize," she said, and since she gets paid to say that, you just know she means it. Of course, nothing is going to happen -- oh, the member reps who never called the towing company *might* get a little training "if their managers think it's necessary," but nothing else. I'm dropping AAA and going with GEICO. I'm not having this crap happen again, thanks!

Broke down last summer, waited nearly 2 hours in 110 degree heat on oxygen before calling me and mom to come get him and me to wait for the truck. Fine, did that. After 3 hours driver arrives. I explain to him and he looks at me says, "No card holder, no tow" and drives away. Another hour passes with me on the phone and them telling me, "So sorry, basically not my problem." Hour later father is taken to the hospital with heat related sickness.

AAA does us a "one time favor" and has dad's van towed without him there... WOW! Recommends I add onto my father's policy (75$) so I can speak on his behalf, fine. Definite money grab but whatever I add on as a premier member. Flash forward 11 months now I need a tow with my hobby car, 1954 merc (dad's old car). They see it's going to be a long tow and begin to seek out reasons to NOT tow my car!!! I had to end up renting a uhaul for 60$. At the end of the day premier means nothing, customer satisfaction means nothing, no value here, no honor in the AAA names. Just another company wanting to give nothing back. Shame on you AAA.

SHAME, SHAME, SHAME ON AAA. Over 12 days ago I broke down in Yosemite National park in California. I have a RV and was with my 2 children. I live in New Jersey. It was about noon. I had no cell service. A ranger shows up and drives me to cell service spot. We call AAA. The park ranger gives my location. We are told a truck will be there in a few hours. He takes me back. Around 730pm the park ranger shows up and states AAA cancelled your service call and call within the morning and leaves. Now my children get upset. One has autism, ADHD, and OCD. The sun is setting, it's getting cold, and no people around. I decide to hike 2 miles to the cell service site to call and see why. My kids are now crying and afraid. There are bears, coyotes, and rattlesnakes.

After being on the phone with a supervisor for 2 hours they say of all is good and truck will be there in a few hours. I start my hike back. Now it's pitch dark and very cold. I tell my kids we will be towed in few hours. Try to sleep until they come. Needless to say they are afraid but we fall asleep around 5am. I wake at 9am no truck. Once again I hike 2 miles. I call and I'm told service was canceled AGAIN. Now I'm fuming. They reorder service, but say it's going to be 8 hours before truck comes because the tow company is 8 hours away. I explain my food and water is low. My septic almost full and my electric almost gone. I get "DON'T YOU WORRY WE WILL BE THERE ".

Nine hours go by. No tow truck. I hike again 2 miles each way. I'm told no luck. I explain I'm now in an emergency situation. The rangers are going to evacuate us. Was on phone with them for over 3 hours. Getting dark and cold. Ranger gets us at 10pm and drops us off at lodge. I call AAA to advise where at. AGAIN I'm advised my service call was canceled. Now furious.

I bought this policy in person. AAA gave me my route plan in person. Knew where I was going and guaranteed service. I go to sleep after being told a truck is on way. It's after midnight. I Wake Up AND Call AAA. Told again sorry service call was cancelled again by AAA not me. Now I snap it's THREE DAYS LATER. They call for another tow truck. It's a tow company in the park. A half hour from my RV. Idiots why didn't they call them first. Now my RV isn't ready til the next day. I had to dish out over $600 for a room and food. I talk to AAA and post on their Facebook page. I'm told they will expedite getting money back so I can get home. They will call me. RIGHT they never do.

I pick up RV. I'm told it's just the battery connectors. This is an AAA repair shop. I have them change my oil too. About 5 hours later RV is on fire. YES IT IS. Fire department and cops ask if I want them to call AAA. I laugh and say no they did us dirty. I guess the AAA mechanic didn't see if that was the only issue. Now I'm stranded another 7 days. Lay out over $5000. Had to call dad for help. He sent me some m ok new but said no more.

I'm thinking ok AAA will keep their word and help knowing I'm a single disabled mother of 2 traveling with my kids. SORRY IS ALL THEY SAY FOR THEIR

INCOMPETENCE!!! You leave me stranded in California for 3 days with 2 kids. This was over 13 days ago. I dished out a ton of money that I needed to get back home because their people cancel my service call THREE TIMES. I went in person to an AAA office in person in California. They laughed out the door with my two kids. We get AAA so we are not stranded and alone on the road. That is exactly what they have done.

All they had to say is sorry. A supervisor said they would help get my money back quick so I can get back to New Jersey from California. More lip service. Yesterday on phone with them for over 2 hours. No help. Now I'm stranded in New Mexico with 2 kids with no money for gas or RV campsites until I get paid on September 5th. Guess we will be sleeping in a parking lot til then. Nothing like AAA abandoning us twice. Guess I have time now to spread my story on social media and websites. Keep my story going. Maybe then they will help. Oh I'm going to use my 28 foot RV to spread my story. That's over 2000 miles of a moving billboard.

I have AAA Plus with RV coverage. A new tire blew on my camper, taking out part of the side/underside of the thing. Called AAA... was transferred to a 'local' club for service. They asked all of the usual questions, then told me they don't cover RV's. Well, my local club does and I paid for the coverage, so... after a bit of back and forth, they finally conceded that they had to tow me.

First flatbed couldn't fit my RV (and they asked me all of the size info). He helped me limp it to a safer area. Second tow, same deal. Now over 3 hours into this mess. AAA called me back stating that they didn't have a 'big enough' flatbed so they were going to have to give me a number to call for a private company and I would have to pay out of pocket... seriously? After much arguing I had to do just that. AAA says that, on Monday, they will let me know what forms need to be filled out to have them reimburse the tow. I'm still trying to figure out why I had to pay anything anyway??? I paid for the extra coverage for a reason!

Our vacation was ruined by the tire and AAA removed any chance of salvage since it was almost $800 for the tow! Not to mention, close to 5 hours, in the sun, with 4 kids ( one with autism) in the truck area of a rest stop. To say I'm disgusted would be an understatement. AAA does NOT provide nationwide and Canadian service (as they claim)... If they did, you wouldn't have to drop a dime ANYWHERE for what you pay them for, for service. BTW... the camper is only 23, not exactly a giant and I was still in my home state!

After placing my jack in the wrong position he jacked the car up very high off the paved road. The car fell off the jack and I heard a loud bang & also sounded like metal being crunched as if it was a car crash. This maniac then took MY crowbar and threw it hard against the pavement while screaming ** about a dozen times. I tried to walk away and normally don't scare easily but knew this guy was not in his right mind. He then told me not to go anywhere and demanded I stand right there.

Now I was terrified. He was now holding a large metal pipe in his hand that he took from his tow truck. He again tried to change the tire and was having trouble removing the lug nuts. He had attached the long pipe to the end of the crowbar and was violently jumping on the pipe. My car was bouncing up and down and all the while he was screaming & cursing that he weighed over 200 ** pounds and screaming at me why are the lug nuts put on my car so ** tight. So now the supporting metal piece under my driver's side door has been damaged and the driver's side electric window was not working. I waited for over an hour and then I had to call back again to check on status. I was told service is late and it will take another 30 to 45 minutes for me to get service. At this point I was already late for my appointment. I waited another 45 minutes for service. Long story short, AAA is very unethical and unreliable service provider. I should have had called my roadside assistance provided by car manufacturer. I highly recommend you all not to spend any money to get membership of AAA. I am their plus member and this was their service for plus member. If you want your money go down the gutter, please go ahead and get AAA membership.

Radiator failure and called Triple AAA for a tow to a mechanic. I was told 55 minutes (@ 2:30 pm). I was in Las Vegas city limits and temperature was 104 F. After 2 hours I call again and Triple AAA says now 30 minutes. Next hour I call again and they 30 minutes. I have text messages. At 6:00 pm I receive a call from the ABC Towing in Las Vegas saying they will be there in 30 minutes. Never did show an Triple AAA, never even followed up on my roadside service call. I had them over 25 years and this is my last year. I am almost 70 years old and had to wait in heat over 104 F. Unacceptable behavior for customers that pay for premium service.

They were terse, would not reconsider their cancellation and that was that! I will be forced to switch companies.

Called AAA again for the second blow out. Was first told they don't provide that service then put the dispatch man on the phone and said it would require a special tool and the charge would be $180!!!! Ridiculous. We have been stranded on the side of the road for 2 hours!!! No help from AAA.

I authorized payment of the AAA annual subscription fee for my wife and me in an August 2014 telephone call. The charge went to my credit card and I also enabled Autopay. July 1, 2015 I called AAA to terminate Autopay, request a credit to my card for the charges they placed on my card a FULL month in advance of the renewal date, and request a bill. The representative refused all 3 of my requests and my card has not been credited as of today. AAA refused to stop charging my credit card account because I am not the first named person on the account - only my wife who shares my last name and address, according to AAA, has the right to terminate billing to my (not a joint) credit card. The only alternative offered by AAA was the demand that I fax to them my complete credit card statement from August of last year in order to show the original charge.

We were not disputing that charge; we only wanted the credit to my card for future service and a bill. The AAA representative would not let me speak with a supervisor and courteously told me that he was going to hang up because my time was up. After immediately filing a complaint with the BBB, AAA called wife and left the message she should call them. My wife called them twice during business hours and has left 2 messages which have not been returned.

The evening of Thursday, July 16 I have gotten a flat at 5:30pm. I called Triple 'A' at 5:45pm. They took my information and said ETA will be 45 minutes and the driver will call you. I was thinking great, 6:30ish, I'll give them till 6:45pm. They will be done and I can watch my son's performance. 6:45pm came and still NO one, NO call. I called Triple 'A' again, this time they told me they're on a manual whatever, meaning their system is down and everything is being done manually. OMFG... really?? Why did they not say that the first time I called. At this point, no one knows what ticket number am I or who's coming, or what time someone will be there. Called again at 8pm because now everyone's going home. Again they tell me, "45 minutes and driver will call"; so that's 8:45pm, almost 9pm.

The girl on the other side of the line says "driver should be there 9:08pm". I waited and guess what? YUP!!! Same thing, NO SHOW of a driver or NO CALL from the suppose supervisor they keep mentioning. I called again this time at 9:15pm. They tell me "driver should be there at 9:48pm". Here we go again!! The runarounds. After going back and forth, keep getting new ETA times. Finally a driver from Aloha Roadside service calls at 11pm saying he's on his way. I asked how long, he says he's coming from Kapolei... Hello!! I'm up in Palolo Valley. I said fine, I been waiting 5 hrs already. And guess what? Took the *beep beep* an hour... Yup!! An hour and it's night, there's no traffic.

I drive to Waianae and it takes me only 45 minutes w/ no traffic. I was so pissed off and frustrated already. I just wanted him to change the tire so I could get my son home cause he was tired and we both had to use the bathroom and take a nice shower. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, we was stranded at a public gym parking lot, in the dark because all the lights went off at 10pm and of course they lock up the bathrooms. Triple 'A'.. like really?? People like us pay for these type of service and this the service we get. Unreal!! I'm not sure if I would want to renew my membership for the year of 2016. Sad!!! :(

I realized my membership was going to expire but remembered that AAA has a grace period for renewal. I sent in my check & my bank statement showed it was cashed so I assumed my membership was renewed. I tried to use it & my membership had been canceled. Thinking there was a mistake because they had received payment & cashed my check, I called to get this resolved. I was told that I paid after my grace period therefore would need to pay another $20 for new membership. I know there is always specials waiving that fee but for a returning customer there is nothing that could be done. When I said I didn't want to pay the additional fee, I was informed there was a 20 day hold on refunds.

When I asked why the check was cashed if the membership was not renewed, I was told they cash any check they receive. Had I not called I would have assumed I had Coverage, as they had cashed my check. So now I am out $48 for the next 20 days (not from when they cashed my check, from when I called to see why my membership was not active seeing as how they received my money). My mistake for sending money to a company I thought had a good reputation & customer service. I will not be renewing again.

AAA offers the worst service ever. Last night we got a flat tire and the uncompassionate roadside assistance person was useless. A 3 hour window to get someone in the city of Milwaukee at 9:30 pm in great weather in the summer? Seriously? Ended up having my husband with a broken neck change the flat himself so we could get our 5 year old granddaughter home. We pay big bucks for their top service. We have had their roadside service for the past 15 years and this is how they repay us? We need our money back and a formal apology from this company. My husband can barely move today and now he needs to go back to the neurosurgeon because of the incompetence of AAA -- my husband is disabled for crying out loud and this is the way AAA treats its customers? I have a funny feeling that we were discriminated because they knew the color of our skin from my voice on the phone. Real nice.

AAA was on time, but the add service I got, I could live without it. The driver was nice, and the truck was a pull tow. After the drive hooked up to my car. He did not switch the off, and got lost. He call and we gave him the address again, waited a while. He calls back still lost so I took my phone and snap a picture of the ad. which had the company name, address, phone number and a map. He still could not find it.

The driver called the shop, and they tried to help him and the shop said after the 5th call from the driver, they sent someone out to get him. When my car did get to the shop 2+ hours later the switch was on and the battery was dead. The shop have tried charging it and it wont charge up. They let it charge overnight, that ain't work. So now I have to buy a battery and take it to the shop, so they can work on it. I picked this shop because of the price and they are not in my neighborhood not the money to get a battery, plus I be at work when the shop is open. So the premium membership with AAA service I received.

On Friday, June 26, 2015, we experience a tire blow out. We were headed on Hwy 39 going North mile marker 102. Our exit was mile marker 113. At 7:23pm, I made my first call to AAA, explained my problem and they told me they would get back to me. I called back again at 7:51 and at that point I was told dispatch was looking into finding someone to help me with the flat. I was also told it would take up to 75 minutes before I received a call back. At 7:59, I called back and was told they are working on it. At 8:51, I called. Spent 12 minutes on hold with a supervisor and I said "it's too late now," I wanted to be towed back home and I have the plus membership and anything over the allotted 100 miles they would have to eat.

He told me he could not authorize that. I have waited all this time. I could have had someone from Waukesha here with a tire. He then told me I was 102 miles from home and AAA would eat the extra 2 miles. But that's all he could do. I just need to sit tight. I had several words for this guy, finding it hard to believe that they could not find anyone from Wisconsin Dells, Madison, Portage or the smaller communities that we were near. About 10, Marquette County Sheriff stopped by and he called the local AAA contact and by 10:30 we were being towed back to Waukesha. 10:30pm, 3 hours later the very nice lady from Dispatch called and she was still working on finding someone to get us. 3 hours and she is still looking.

Why have AAA? I told her, "never mind, the sheriff found us a local guy who will tow us back to Milwaukee." The Local guy Mike Beahm from Beahm's Towing and Recovery in Montello, WI was so great. He happened to have at his shop a tire we could put on the car and instead of having the whole weekend ruined we just arrived really late to the cabin. He was very willing to take us back to Waukesha that night if we wanted. The call from Dispatch did check on us somewhere between 9 and 10 before the sheriff had arrived to let us know they were working on it. No One should have to wait 3 plus hours for help on the side of the road. I am not done with my complaining and I will tell whoever will listen. In defense of AAA when we have had to use them locally in Waukesha/Milwaukee area nothing but great but outside the area the experience was HORRIBLE.

I called AAA & they assured me that I was a priority call & someone would call within 30 minutes. 3.5 hours later - still no call. I was afraid and very upset, and finally called a garage on my own and paid out of pocket for a tow truck who came right away when he learned of the specific area where I was. After swerving to avoid an apparently drunk driver, I hit the median. I'm on a street by myself in the middle of the night. I called AAA at 11:52 pm and was told they would arrive no later than "45 minutes from now so that would be 12:37" and I would get updates. At 12:36 they called to update me by telling me they should be here about 1:40, or an hour after their original promised time. When I expressed disappointment, the dispatcher said the first one "shouldn't have said that" and repeatedly gave his patronizing script about "it's always difficult when you have car trouble".

So here I sit, hopefully not looking like too much of a target, a lone female in a car at 1:00 am, waiting, unable to drive off. I wonder how many people they have responding to calls for help... maybe one for all of Houston? Update. No one was here by 1:50 but a security guard at a nearby church changed the tire and taught me how. She is awesome! Much more helpful than AAA.

A week ago my truck broke down on a rural road 480 and 1442. I called AAA 4:14 pm and was told the wrecker would be in about 45 minutes. The temp was 96 degrees. I waited for an hour and a call come to tell me at 4:58 pm, "AAA just got the call 20 min ago and it will be any time between 1 hour and 5 hours." I had a few words with the caller. 30 or so min later I called back, spoke with a lady ( recorded) and told her I was 68 y/o and I'm sitting on the road in 96 degrees and I could have a heatstroke waiting. I said I've waited long enough. Her answer, "If your having a medical problem HANG UP AND YOU CALL 911." 4 1/2 hours total, a wrecker shows up and transported me and the truck.

Today 06/26/15, the same truck won't start and I contacted AAA around 1:00 pm for a wrecker to take the truck to a shop. I was told it would be 45 min. At 1:51 got a call and was told, "The wrecker for you has a car in tow and will drop it and head your way." At 2:43 pm, another call telling me it will be 45 min. At 2:43pm, a recording said the driver is on his way. At 2:58pm, same recording, at 2:59pm same recording. At 3:48 pm a lady called and said "the driver coming to you stopped on the expressway and picked up a car that was to be after yours. It will be at least an hour." AT 4:14 pm, the wrecker shows up and takes the truck away, finally. I am a customer and pay more to be a "PREMIER CUSTOMER." For what??? And been with AAA for 18 or so years.
