I called an open auto policy with AAA.com and canceled with AAA.com within 8 days in the policy. I requested for refund and more than a month no reply. I called the credit card company to dispute the charge. After six months, I started receiving harassing calls from AAA.com for cancelling fee of $85 of the cancelled policy. When I opened the policy with AAA.com I specifically asked for a cancellation fee, I was told as no fee. Then AAA.com try to fake a policy to send to me to validating that fee. That document does not even shows anywhere for cancellation fee. When I asked AAA.com then, the manager cut and paste a policy saying fee in the email to validate this fee. Now, AAA.com not only charged this from me but also damaged my credit history for this fee. I never had such an experience with any other insurance company as AAA.com in the past.

I had always been impressed with AAA having been a member since 2002. However, my experience with this office in Tucson leaves a great deal to be desired. I came in to get an international driver's license and I was ignored by the person at the member concierge, Judy, while she counted change out of a register drawer for nearly 10+ minutes. No acknowledgement whatsoever, we were standing maybe 3 feet apart from each other. Then, when she finished what she was doing, she was gruff and unpleasant. Meanwhile in the office, another employee was yelling and bragging about how he had sold a bunch of trips, basically hooting and high five-ing everyone, the type of behavior one would rather not see as a customer who might have purchased anything from him.

Having moved here from another state, they refused to issue me a new card. It makes it difficult to get properly connected when I need service having the old card. My previous office in Tennessee requested them to do it and basically they refused according to my previous AAA office. In the paragraph below, to get the service for the lockout I was transferred 3 Times. The one time I needed service was for a lock-out of my vehicle, I realized this on a clear sunny afternoon at 4pm, it took AAA 1 hour and 15 minutes to arrive and the guy who came didn't acknowledge being late, said nothing to me the whole time. He was an official AAA employee, not a 3rd party. I'll be looking for service elsewhere and will be letting anyone who cares to know about my multiple poor experiences with Tucson AAA.

On Nov.15, 2015 I was a victim of a collision in which the fully insured member of AAA was intoxicated. I waited for police assistance for over hour and half mind you the station is less than ten minutes away wondering. The driver was white male fairly young mid twenties respectful and apologetic admitting fault. I notified both female officers appeared very young same age as insured member of possible intoxication. They asked if I got all his info and were quick to dismiss stating "You're free to go." No driver license or procedure to collect a report seemed a cover up on a some many levels. Next day in person arrive at AAA office Long Beach branch was quickly given a claim adjuster and number. Then mysteriously I was transferred to a Bakersfield office claim adjuster and new claim number. Reason was the insurer had also reported the claim at the exact time doubtful.

I was up early that morning. No info on the incident had been logged or reported from the first adjuster. Been given the constant run around to collect the claim release forms are all submitted from all involved. Claim adjuster states that no release has been received from other party. Second victim involved fully covered has new vehicle from Progressive insurance. She has sent her release forms in confirmed by text. Claim adjuster for AAA in Bakersfield stalling on releasing the claim. As well the second victim college student may be manipulating the situation aware of my loss but not active with helping resolve the claim. Since every time the hold up is due to the second party victim. This process is typical to make the pro-active victim first responding to be the last in resolution.

AAA has become a CULT of unsupervised overpaid criminal enterprise built to live off the land. There are good AAA reps I've had experience with, but a major re-haul of who's doing the company financial justice. I mentioned that as soon the claims closure I would reactivate my duel car membership. There may never be due to the lack of concern or interest for business progression on any level from AAA from past reviews nationwide.

Our truck's transmission went out and we called to have AAA tow it to a transmission shop we found online. After it arrived the shop said it was a specialty that his shop wasn't prepared to work on, but would in a week for an additional charge of OVER $1100! Upon finding a shop that could get the truck in right away and HAD the parts in their shop, we called AAA back and they TOLD US WE HAD TO PAY FOR THIS TOW!!! It was 6 miles further and yet they wouldn't tow it - we even have their AAA PLUS membership!! HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!! They could have at least towed it and taken off another of our 4 tows!?

It's quite simple. I decided to go from Regular AAA MEMBER TO AAA PLUS MEMBER. FOR 2 REASONS - supposedly you get more respect and 2 I have their AAA BANK OF AMERICA CREDIT CARD. I was promised I would get my new card by Christmas and believe it or not I still haven't got it. Spoken to them 5 times now and same runaround. So now thinking of asking for a refund if not here by March 31, 2016. I am more embarrassed to be a member than to be glad and happy to be a member. SO I sure hope you people get your AAA plus card because they got paid but I still got a paper membership. How messed up is that.

In Charlotte, NC after a weeks vacation we came home to a dead battery. Within minutes of us calling AAA, Mark, the man who helped us, showed up. He explained everything he was checking, the things that could have drained the battery, why the battery did drain, and the process as he installed the new one. Although the whole process took about an hour everything was great and we are very appreciative of his services.

I have had AAA Membership for 16 years. When I went to get my car out of winter storage the battery needed jumping. AAA dispatch informed me that they would help me at home, a business or on the side of the road BUT NOT on the lot. AAA Mountainwest said later that I SHOULD have been helped but that was no consolation after being stranded in a cold icy lot, which was indeed a BUSINESS. I cancelled my membership and all insurance coverage with AAA but they have not refunded the membership fee. Local clubs seem to have no supervision...

After being on hold for 15-20 minutes we were told it would be at least 45 more minutes before assistance would arrive. We were in town not the boondocks. We're switching to a different company with better coverage, cheaper cost and a better rating.

I have had AAA for more than 20 years. While we lived in New England I would say the service was fair/good. We move to Sarasota, FL In 1997. We never had a trouble with local tows. As everyone know the best thing about AAA is the long distance tow. This is the problem. We were traveling home to FL from MA, broke down on HWY20 in Annapolis, MD sat on the side of this extremely busy roadway for 7 hrs. The tow driver showed up with his girlfriend in the truck, no room in the tow truck for my husband. My husband had to ride in the van on top of the tow truck.

We moved to GA in 2001. Now we're live 25 miles from the nearest big town. We expect thing will take longer if we need service. After we bought a sm 19 foot motor home we purchased the Premier service because it covers the motor home. The very first trip in our motor home was a disaster. We broke down 175+ miles from home. We sat on the side of the road from 4pm until 10pm waiting for AAA to find a tow truck. The tow company arrived was very nice. Stop at a store so that we could get drinks then towed us to our home. The tow company owner and driver was extremely nice. We need to call AAA in the high heat of the summer in GA when we broke down in our car. We had to stand under so trees in a field up a hill off the road as it was over 100 degrees. We waited for more than 2 hours for a tow.

Several months later we plan a trip to Orlando, FL. Broke down on the way there. I was able to get the van off the hwy in to a church parking lot around 3pm. AAA sent a tow truck within 1 hour but the driver could not tow us as he did not have the right kind of truck. 4 hours later another tow truck arrived 7pm. This should have been it. The driver of the truck said he was there to pick up a 30 passenger van. He said our motor home was too big for his truck. I asked him how long his flat bed was. He said 24 foot. Our motor home is 19 feet. He refused to tow us. He kept saying our motor home is 30 feet. I had paper work showing the size. Also AAA had towed this before so they had in their records of the length of the motor home. Nevertheless the driver refused to tow us and left. The company was (INTERSTATE 75 TOWING).

Back to AAA. Round after round of phone calls with us now being told the dispatchers are all gone home for the night and we would have to stay the night somewhere, "but don't worry we have 24 hour concierge service." (I recommend you never use this service) I call explained our situation and am told he would make arrangement and call me back. He called back within a short time. He was trying to make a reservation in a town 30 east of where our van broke down. This would mean taking a cab to and from the location of the van. I did not think this was a good idea. I asked him for the phone number of the taxi so that I could call them myself. I hung up, called the taxi, ask him where the nearest place to stay was. He gave me the number, I call, found out they had a room, call the taxi back and went to the Holiday Inn Express. Arrived in the room at 11:30pm. A long and frustrating day.

I must have spoken with 20 different people at AAA repeating the whole problem over and over. Finally a supervisor told me she had documented everything that had happened. She gave me a number to use when I called in the morning to give the number to the agent. Surprise! The agent had no idea what I was talking about. Tell it all again. Finally a tow truck was found. The company owner was extremely nice. She sent the driver to pick us up at the hotel. Unfortunately there was a parade in Inverness, FL that morning. There was no way around it to get to our motor home. The company/driver were nice never getting angry. When we could finally get to our motor home he was able to put it on his 21 foot flat bed truck. We finally got close to our destination about 2pm more than 24 hours after leaving on a 5 hour drive. I WILL NOT RENEW MY MEMBERSHIP.

I had rental car insurance for 30 days and I had to rent car for more than 30 days because my car was not repaired by that time. AAA paid for 30 days and rest I had to pay myself, more than $315.00 though it was not my fault. Now AAA says I have to claim the extra payment for rental car from State Farm who insured the car which hit me from behind. AAA will not help me get the money from State Farm. I called the AAA supervisor in claims department who has not returned my call so far. I have my car, home and Umbrella Insurance with AAA and pay more than $1500 a year to them. I plan to cancel AAA insurance and I will rate them very, very poor in service. Hope people will get this message.

I live in Northern Vermont and don't really expect the level of service I was accustomed to in Connecticut. BUT, I have used this service twice in past 4 years to start my car in cold weather. First time took 4 hours and the AAA driver told me he had to come over from New York state. Since then I moved to St, Johnsbury, VT and I needed a jump this AM, called and was advised 1-1/2 hours which didn't surprise me. I received a call from the driver at 1-1/2 hours later and was told another 45 minutes... Np yet! But, another 1-1/2 later (now 3 hours) I called back and was told 10 minutes.

Twenty minutes later two guys show up in a truck from New Hampshire... carrying a quick start battery. They hook it up and one of the guys gets in the car to crank it and starts pumping the gas pedal (car is Fuel injection). Anyway he flooded it and now their portable battery was getting weak so they asked if the neighbor's car could be used for a jump. I arranged that and I got in the car and finally got it started. AAA Northern New England road service in Caledonia and Orleans county really is bad due to low number of service trucks or subcontractors and the "cowboys" that often show up trained as farm mechanics.

Finally I closed my business, picked up my husband, we left the car and they towed it at 12 midnight.

Today I am watching commercial saying how dependable AAA is. They are horrible and do not care if live or die in a bad area late at night that is the fact. This commercial is so untrue. We were members for the past 30 years and I know they are getting worst and worst by the year. Do not recommend AAA to anybody and this commercial I need to speak to a lawyer or the TV letting them know it is false information. We paid so much and never used it until 2015 and we did not get good service if compare the time and gas and time we waited in the top of membership we lost money. Took two attempts to have my car towed from friend's house. First attempt, took about 3 hours before I had to cancel because the shop I was taking it closed. AAA towing service said they could do the work. No disrespect but my cars are only worked on by people I know. Second attempt, again a rolling delay took about 2 hours before I realized that it again was turning into a rolling delay. I'll leave further feedback if they fail a third time. People on the were pleasant but that's about all they could do considering the contract this work out. I've been a member for over 30 years and used them about 4 or 5 times. The towing was always there within the normal quoted time but it appears AAA has not spent enough time vetting or requiring their contracted towing services to perform to the once high services that had. Beginning to wonder if the service is worth the hassle or cost.

I called AAA a few days ago and talked to a sales agent to get an auto policy quote for my vehicle. She asked me personal information including my full name, driver's license number, my driving history, and details of my vehicle. At the end of the Q&A session, she appreciated me for being upfront and honest about the incidents on my vehicle. She gave me a quote of $102 monthly premium and clearly told me that this rate has been calculated after accounting for the incidents (all no-fault) I've had on my vehicle in the past. She lured me into purchasing the policy immediately by telling that a delay might cause my rate to increase because of a very recent incident due to an additional driver on my policy which their system could not see at the time.

Three days later, the agent herself called me on my mobile notifying me of an increase in the monthly premium from $102 to $113. When asked about the reason, she told me that she had not put in my full name into the system and blamed the system for a mistake of hers. Seven days later, I received the policy details in mail. I was surprised to see a monthly premium of $127. I called the agent the same day and this time she told me that the reason for increase in the monthly premium was because of the incidents (non-fault) I've had in the past. She did not explain the reason and the insurance rules convincingly.

Two days later, I called her back to have my policy cancelled because I felt I was cheated by the agent. She would not even say another word (except 'have a good day') and she would just end the call. Her voice lacked the courtesy she had shown in my first call with her. She was very rude, reticent, and showed no respect to the customer. I would never be a customer of AAA. Neither will I recommend it to anyone else.

On September of 2014 we bought a new battery from AAA, in 2015 the battery start dying every so often. We kept calling for them to come and charge the battery constantly and many times neighbors to help us start the car (VOLVO S40). We had the car checked to see if there was any other issues but there was nothing wrong. For the last week the car wouldn't start every other day. We had neighbors again come and give us a jump so we can go to work, since AAA is taking up to 90 minutes to respond. Last time when the guy from AAA came I requested that he should give us a new battery because this one is defective or refurbished battery that don't work and we need the car for work. He said he will tested and that he is not giving me a new battery just because I requested it.

I said no problem. He left his wires on the battery for a while testing the battery. 20 minutes later I asked him if the test showed the battery defective and he proceeded to tell me that there was NO READING!! When I asked him what he meant NO READING he said to me, "Let the car running for 30 minutes and then call AAA to make another appointment for us to come back and test the battery again." I told him that's not right to do to a consumer and he got into my face and said "listen to what I am telling you! I will not give you new battery." This person name Carlos was very very rude, completely inappropriate behavior to a customer. He yelled at me just because I said that the battery was clearly defective and being that l am under the warranty it should be replaced.

I never experienced a behavior like this from prior technicians with the AAA. They are usually courteous. I understand that the AAA doesn't want to lose money but what about me that I paid AAA for new battery and I got GARBAGE! I've belonged to AAA since 2004. Took my car regularly to the AAA car center in Northern VA until I moved in 2014. Was very happy with service-oriented attitude there and service performance. Now belong to AAA of the Carolinas and have taken my car several times to the Wilmington Oleander Drive location. Initially, service was good. Most recently, took car for oil change and complimentary inspection in early December. Told me I needed power steering fluid (every other mechanic I've spoken to said that's a ripoff), new battery (OK, got a discounted price as I had a 4 year old AAA battery - in future will buy more reliable batteries) and was told a wheel axle was causing the noise I mentioned. Wheel bearings were rated in the "green" zone (good). Did not feel comfortable with the service there and stated I was going to another shop for an estimate. Manager said "Well let me know what they would charge and I'll see what I can do for you."

RED FLAG -- if you can't give me your best price initially, why would I want to do business with you? Took car to a shop that had helped me in the past. They took the car for a test drive - discovered that wheel bearings were in dangerous shape (yet AAA told me they were "good".) When I've complained to local shop, AAA of the Carolinas and AAA HQ, get nowhere. Word to the wise do not use AAA car care shops in Wilmington. While driving home my car experienced odd electrical issues similar to that of an alternator failing. The reason I suspected the alternator is b/c I have been through that repair 3 times before over the last 5 years. So I contacted AAA to arrange a tow for the car. The very nice woman over the phone helped arrange a tow truck. During the conversation she asked if it was ok to have the car towed to a local AAA care center for repairs. There would be a 10% discount on all services. I thought sure why not, it is just the alternator. I knew at the very most they would charge is 600$ and with 10% off I could live with 540$.

After pickup, which was prompt, I received a phone call from the service tech telling me that the alternator was no longer working. I said, "Really" (acting surprised). "Ok, what is the price?" 736.00$-- My first reaction was total shock. I asked, "736.00? Why so much? I had an alternator replaced before and it was not even close to that price." He said, "It was really the labor, 2.8 hours." I was ok with that. I had made an attempt to replace an alternator in the past and vowed never to do again. So 2.8 hrs of labor seemed more than fair. However, the cost for the alternator was nearly 400$ which is insane. So I explained that "This is our 3rd car and if you do not mind searching around for a better price, even if it takes a few days, I will wait." He said sure and would call me tomorrow. Great!!!

Early the next morning I got the call that the local Nissan dealership had the part for 200$. Great. Total price with labor 550$-- Perfect… Proceed with the work. Later that day I received a phone call that they had found other problems. It appeared my engine damping bracket was leaking oil onto the wiring harness causing the wires to fail. I said, "Ok, let me hear you clearly. You said oil is leaking from a part that contain hydraulic fluid." "No, no... You are also leaking hydraulic fluid. The oil is coming from the failed valve covers. So the whole wiring harness has to be changed. The price now is 1330$." OH no. I must have really pissed these guys off by asking for them to do just a small amount of work to save me a few dollars.

Now my first thought is get a tow truck and get my car out of there, but that would cost at least another 200$, plus having another shop look at the car. After time and energy spent I am probably coming in at 1300$. I said, "Just fix it." I have learn my lesson LORD, I will never take my car to AAA again. So, a day later I get a call. It is a miracle they do not have replace the wiring harness. They were able to do something that did something that did not cost much. What the hell ever. Just give me my car so I can put this nightmare behind me. The new price 975$... fine, great, when can I get the car. Tonight!

So, I arrive for the first time to a very nice looking center, and it all begins to make sense. The guy I had been working with over the phone was not a service tech, he is basically a salesman who knows nothing about cars. Our total conversation was complete b/s. They play on people's ignorance and sell them on whatever they think you can pay. So I paid 975$. Get the car, check for dents, and am on my way. In the car for 5 mins and begin to hear this odd sound coming from behind the firewall on the passenger side of the car. Well **. It was late, I have a crazy busy day at work. I will deal with it tomorrow. So I call and explain the problem to the "service tech" who tells me to bring it in after work.

I arrive a 635 pm and he tells me to have a seat and they will pull it in the garage to look at. They close in 20 mins, they are not going to be able to diagnosis the issue in 20 mins. I said, "Keep it and look at tomorrow." He said, "Fine." Next day arrives, no phone call, I call them around 5 pm and find out no one has even looked at the car. Why would they, I have already overpaid for services. I was told the tech who worked on the car was off and he will be in tomorrow. Fine. At 830 am I get a call. Drum roll please. Tire roar... "Your tires are cupped and you are hearing tire roar." I said, "Sir this is a noise that was not there before I brought it to you. Tire roar does not appear overnight." I attachly takes several years of not caring for your tires for tire roar to set in. I made the statement that I will be coming to explain the problem so they know exactly what I am describing.

I am writing this story with the car still in the shop. I have decided to just get the car and have someone else look at it. I am tired and have learned my lesson and just want to end this insanity. I will never call or take my car to another AAA center again. Oh by the way they also overcharged my credit card for the towing service. Quoted 24$ to cover what my AAA membership did not cover. I was charged the entire bill. I am new to the area and know all too well that a good mechanic is almost as important as a good school.

I explained I was five or six miles from Elizabeth, Illinois. He said that was not good enough; I needed to give him the name of a crossroad. I became angry as we repeated this conversation for at least five minutes. He said that yelling was not going to help. I hung up. Strangers finally stopped and got me out of the ditch.

Months later, when my membership expired, I called my local AAA office to explain why I was not renewing my membership. The agent transferred me to the complaints department. I repeated my story and the agent expressed concern and said she would listen to the recording of my conversation and have someone speak to the agent who refused me service. (Someone would explain that requests for help should be granted.) Days later she returned the call and said he had been advised as to how to act. I will not renew my membership with a company that does not care enough about its non-existent service, and yet wants more of my money!

Waited for over three hours to get a jump, never got a call or the jump. After waiting for so long, I called a friend to help me out. It was a clear beautiful day Sunday, for three hours there are towns up here in Colorado that are close and could have answered the call. Denver is 100 miles away and is a two-hour drive. I know that could have worked for that time frame and so I called AAA to cancel the call. I have been a loyal paying customer for over 20 years and this is the worst service I have received in that time. I know I have had others but this was the one that took forever and never got a call that they were on the way.

My car would not start so I called the phone number on the AAA card for roadside assistance. The recording that answered said I could use their app. Tried that, it did not work. Went online to place request for assistance and the page that came up said to call the number on the card. Called the number on the card again and was on hold for over an hour. Battery on phone was going out so I called the local AAA office where I was told their entire site was down. The reason I have this service is in case of a need for roadside assistance which was non-existent. How can they offer a service and then not provide it? Why keep a customer on hold for an hour and not tell them their site is down and they are not answering the phones? Now I have been waiting over 2 hours for a tow truck to show up that was recommended by the local AAA office and I have to pay for it up front with the hope that AAA will reimburse me.

This used to be a good company. What has happened to the customer service? I have been a member for 18 years, and today needed assistance being pulled out of a ditch. After the initial call for assistance, I waited half an hour and called back to get any kind of status or update. I was told they still don't have anyone available. I asked if there was any kind of time frame they could give me as I was half in a ditch. They said "no", and that the area I live in doesn't have a lot of trucks available. Are you kidding me? I live by the Virginia Beach Boardwalk, not in the middle of nowhere! The service was incredibly rude. Wrong people working there to assist with people needing roadside help. I was pretty desperate for help and did not like hearing that there was nobody currently available, but they would call me as soon as they found someone...

What was worse was after asking if there was any kind of time frame they could give me at all, being told, "no, no time frame". Fifteen minutes later they call and say that someone should be there in ANOTHER HOUR AND TEN MINUTES. Hard to believe that they cannot get anyone to help me within 30-40 mins of my initial call. After my husband got home, and a nice helper to assist, they towed me out of the ditch. Just as I was about to call AAA to tell them not to bother, the tow truck shows up! Too late! After 18 years of paying my annual dues, I will not be renewing. I probably would not have been so upset if the people on the phone had been a little more courteous.

I think that the calls for AAA dispatch get a much lower priority. And I can't understand why the people on the phone were leading me to believe that it could take several hours to get pulled from the ditch. Glad I had some other people around to do it! This company is not worth the annual fees. They may leave you stranded...

My most recent call, the driver never bothered to contact me (I was waiting somewhere safe, as instructed) so he left. AAA wanted to count that against my membership! Because their driver never showed. Unacceptable. There are too many other services to continuing paying this awful company.

My battery died and after charging it, it died again (it wouldn't hold a charge very long). AAA came out and refused to replace the battery because I didn't put enough miles on the car in the two years. I put 13,000 but they told me I had to put 14,000 miles on it or the warranty was voided. Nowhere on the warranty did it say that. I signed a contract with them and was supposed to get a free battery but they made up new exclusions that weren't in the original contract. How illegal! Add insult to injury, they charged me $75 trip charge because I'm not a member anymore and they didn't replace the battery. I would never recommend AAA to anyone. When I went outside to receive my car, after being alerted by AAA that my car had arrived at my residence, the car was on an old tow truck that was pulling it from the back with the front pointed towards the ground. I drove my car around the block to ensure that the mechanic fixed it and the bottom started to leak fluid from being dragged on the street.

I immediately took pictures and called to make a complaint. AAA said they don't have any responsibility because the company that towed it is an independent contractor. That, of course, is ridiculous as the consumer has no input into which what tow company they use. I've been given the runaround for two months now and the tow truck is even claiming that they towed it on a dolly. AAA is great as long as nothing goes wrong. Now I must spend my time and effort on a lawsuit; good thing I have a law degree and can do my own suit otherwise I would have to pay for that also.

While travelling back from Atlanta, I hit a rut in the road that caused my run-flat tire to blow. It took about 20 minutes to realize the tire was kaput. We drove to the nearest tire center (Wal-mart) and they informed us they did not carry run-flats. So, I have AAA Premier and it offers 100 miles free towing. We were about 70 miles from home. I called AAA, and was informed I had only Basic Membership. I said "no, you sent a re-instatement form and we sent that back." The customer service rep says, "yes, we re-instated you at basic, not premier." I said, "that's what re-instatement means, putting me back where I was, not Basic." We argued for a while but she would not do anything. So, we had to have the car towed to the nearest Discount Tire ($100). It was also after 6 pm so we had to spend the night ($150) and we had to wait until 3 pm the next day to get the run flat delivered there.

We opted to buy a regular tire so we could leave first thing and head home. We took the car to the Discount Tire in town and they gave us credit for the non-run-flat. Too bad AAA isn't like Discount Tire! So, I called customer service and lodged a complaint. I felt they should reimburse me for all these fees because had they RE-INSTATED me, we would not have had the fees, or at least offer me a few years free membership.

My first call was Oct 7. No one ever called me back and I called again today, 12/7. I spoke with manager Mara and although she agreed with my reasoning, she could not do anything except upgrade my current membership to Premier. It was ridiculous! She kept saying I understand but it was not genuine. If it was, they would have apologized for the inconvenience of their misrepresenting mailers and helped me. I guess at least I got something out of it - knowledge that it's not worth it. Even when you have the service, you can't get what you pay for. At least not in my case. Imagine that you are driving down a busy interstate at 6 pm on a late autumn evening. You look down at your dash and notice that the battery light is on, then the check engine light starts flashing, then the oil light pops on, all in the matter of about 30 seconds. You pull over to the side of the road and think Now what? I'm a single female on a dark interstate and my car is broke down. "Never fear," you tell yourself, "this is why I have AAA, I will call them and ask them to send a tow truck." So you call AAA they tell you someone will be there within the hour. Ok, that's reasonable enough.

An hour goes by, two hours go by so you call AAA back and ask them where the tow truck is. They keep you on the line and say one will be there in 30 min, they had a delay. Ok, I'm a little aggravated but I try to be understanding. Another hour has gone by, by now I have been broke down on the side of the road for almost three hours. I call AAA again and they tell me that they will call another tow company. After sitting by the side of the road for almost 4 hours, a tow truck appears. The driver acts shocked that I have been sitting there for almost 4 hours as he only got the call an hour prior. Because I was 20 miles from home I had to pay the 4 per mile towing fee.

I called AAA the next morning to complain and to cancel my membership. After all, I could have called a tow truck myself and spent the same amount of money and less time getting my car towed to the mechanics. I had just renewed my membership as mine was set to expire in two weeks. I was told that I was not going to be able to get my money back because I had already prepaid them. After basically going ghetto fabulous on the person on the phone I was transferred to a supervisor who told me my refund would be on my credit card statement in two to three weeks.

We shall see because if it isn't. I'm going to dispute the charges. Bottom line guys, don't waste your money on AAA. Always carry a phone with you so at the very least you can dial 911 and get some assistance. You would be better off paying out of pocket to get your car towed or when you have a dead battery asking someone to give you a jump so you can get to the nearest auto parts store. Rip off... I called AAA because I needed a battery jump. They came (they sent 2 men, really 2 men to jump a car??) with the sole intent of selling me a new battery. All Town Towing walked up with a new battery, no jumper cables, no charger...he came and said "you need a new battery". I insisted I didn't because my battery was only 3 years old, had recently been tested as "good" by Acura, the lights and radio in my car were working, so told him I just needed a jump, he got huffy and went to get his portable charger which he set up and it did not charge (I doubt he actually set it up to charge). And then he said again "you need a new battery". I was livid. I asked him to jump my car with jumper cables. He said he didn't bring any!!

I just needed a jump. I was late for work and he knew it. He said "are you going to buy a new battery or not because your battery is dead". He did not test the battery, as I said he walked in with new battery in hand, no charger, no tester, no jumper cables. He repeated that I have no choice, either I buy a battery or my car stays there! I was in a bind and ended up buying the battery...he takes my credit card and takes a picture of it with his cell phone!! REALLY?? No way to swipe it I asked, he says no this is how they do it...how unsafe is that!! I was furious. I asked him if I could keep my battery (because I planned to test it later on) and he said it would cost me $20 core charge...so I let it go having already spent $150 on the new battery that I knew I did not need.

My car is an Acura, I was just at Acura a few months ago and they did a battery check and battery checked good. It was only 3 years old. So later in day I called AAA and filed a formal complaint against these thieves. I spoke with supervisor Jeff who was very helpful and gave me some hope that I had recourse. He told me another agent would contact All Town Towing and they would straighten it all out. That is where it went downhill.

Don ** (the field AAA agent) called me and said he talked to All Town Towing and they insisted they tested my battery and it would not hold a charge. I argued about this lie, but Don chose to believe All Town Towing (who by the way has a C rating from BBB). All Town Towing conveniently did not have my battery. I wanted my battery back to test it, but Don said they got rid of it...although no proof was offered. I said to Don that All Town Towing has every reason to lie but I do not have one reason to lie. Why would I waste my time and energy if I really needed a battery. If they tested it I would have agreed, but they did not test it, they did not even attempt to charge it with jumper cables. They clearly came with the intent to sell and they used intimidation and trickery.

Don **'s solution was for me to go buy another battery and he would then reimburse me the AAA battery fee. So now it cost me extra time, as I had to take it to Acura for a new battery, which cost me $165 plus $18 core fee because AAA wanted their battery back! AAA will not refund me the core fee, so this one call to AAA cost me $183 for a battery I did not need. I don't understand how AAA could do business with a company that has a C rating on BBB. And what I really do not understand is how AAA does not back a long standing client. I and my family have been AAA members since 1999. AAA did not have my back and they cost me time and money. My AAA membership runs out in December and I will not renew (I would cancel except they charge a $10 cancellation fee!). My husband, my sons and their wives are also not renewing in December.

I didn't buy the new battery but drove my car and recharged it back up to over 500 in one driving session. I haven't had any issues with the battery since. Buyer Beware... Take the jump and drive your car before buying a new battery... You probably don't need one.

My aim here is to persuade everyone, anyone and all human beings with half a mind to never ever ever use AAA. I waited 3 hours on the side of a busy city street to be towed. The first guy who showed up an hour and a half after the first call said he could not tow my particular truck. The second guy didn't show up for another hour and a half. Right before he came I called another company who showed up in literally 7 minutes. I got my $75 back from AAA and will never use them again. I would be embarrassed to be a part of that company.

The whole reason for starting to get AAA in 2008 was because I was single and didn't have family living around me to help for the "just in case". I've used it 2x before but for my car. Tonight my fiance, who has been on the same account for a while also, needed it to tow the motorcycle after he got a flat on the expressway at 9 pm. When he tried to get a tow truck the dispatcher informed him that our account does not have that option and was UNABLE to get a tow. Ridiculous! When I pay for something it should work! My rep had helped me pick out this coverage in 2010 specifically for the motorcycle coverage. All I want to do is cancel right now. What a waste! I do NOT recommend this service for motorcycles because it does not work! I am waiting for a phone call from my current rep to cancel.

I received a promotional sign up for AAA Road Side service in the mail. There were 3 options to sign up. 1. Mail application back, 2. Go online. 3. Call us. I chose option 3 because I prefer talking to a person when dealing with $$$ matters. I took the offer, gave the staffer my CC info and signed up 4 family members. However, at the time my husband was out and when he returned he informed we had such coverage with Auto ins. carrier. Not 15 minutes since I did the deal with AAA, I called back to cancel.

They THEN inform me there is a $10 per member cancellation fee. That part was not mentioned to me in my "sign up" conversation. I was connected with a supervisor, Tammy, who explained to me that their computer system did not have a cancel/delete option. "Sorry." When I asked her why this fee wasn't explained to me on my sign up call, her reply was, "No way could we provide all rules and regulations in a phone call because we would be on the phone for hours. You should have done this online so you could have read all of the clauses in print." AAA seems to be yet another money grab company.

Kind of a no-brainer. Also, AAA is the only one that will replace free for 3 years, the others are 2. When I called yesterday, they said someone would come within 2 hours. They were here 10 minutes later, checked to make sure it wouldn't charge - I knew that, car is 8 1/2 years old - put in a new battery, and she was gone in 30 minutes. How can you beat that?! I read several reviews online that were unfavorable for their batteries but if they will come to you to replace them, it doesn't matter.

AAA Membership for a number of years. Had need to have vehicle towed to a service facility. Vehicle was immobile on a Sunday evening at 7:30 at a convenience store near major traffic artery downtown Orlando. Called AAA. They promptly placed the order request with Elite Towing - AAA indicating that the tow would arrive within an hour, that I needed to remain with vehicle.

Called at 1 hour having had no contact from AAA or Elite. Was then told it would be 2 hours. At 2 hours + with no arrival of tow called again and was told Elite was stuck on another call and could not make it. AAA offered to provide another tow operator. At hour 3+ 15 minutes received notification that tow operator 10 miles away might be able to be there within the hour. Told AAA to cancel the request and not place it against the Membership Quota. Continued to receive calls from AAA and other tow operator up to midnight.

I am OK with AAA being slammed and backed up - but they need to be transparent and accurate about their time frames. The customer should not be learning of major delays only after they call back when the tow operator busted the deadline repeatedly. AAA has my text enable phone number and e-mail. Either would have worked just fine. I ended up pushing it to my residence which is about a block from the convenience store.

The first hour passed and it was very dark. Cars northbound were ten feet from our car, a 1949 Olds, with very little lights and no 4-way flashers. A kind motorist from Jacksonville passed, turns around at the next possible cut in the median and was able to give us enough gas to make it back to the Love gas station at the intersection of I 95 and US 1.

My wife and are still shaking from the terrifying thoughts of being struck by any one of the 100's of autos speeding by, changing lanes and playing "Daytona International Speedway". We had nowhere to go to get away from the vehicle and had to "ride it out". We thought that AAA offered EMERGENCY road service and are aware there are several large road service dealers in the Ormond and Bunnell areas. We will cancel our membership as soon as we find another provider of roadside assistance. We have been working with an AAA in St. Augustine for combined Homeowners, Umbrella and Auto Insurance and have decided after this lack of INSURANCE coverage we will cancel all our AAA connection.

I called in today because my wheel practically fell off my car, and I need it towed. I have a whole life and stuff to do obviously, as most people do, so I'm out taking care of my day. The issue happened, luckily, right in front of my own house, on the street. My husband is at home, so I called in the tow while not at home. I left my AAA card with my husband, just in case they need to see it or talk to someone, and they told me that my husband isn't covered and I need to be with the car to get it towed. It's my car, in front of my house, and my husband can't stand in for me???

On top of that, after I added him to the policy for a large fee, the customer service representative proceeded to interrupt me repeatedly as I tried to give him the information he needed, and then moments later asked me a question which was EXACTLY the information he had JUST interrupted me about! I told him that, he interrupted me AGAIN, and said "oh well I wasn't at the point in the program where I could put that information in." Really? It was like a 5-minute conversation. Let me speak, obviously if I'm calling for emergency roadside assistance I'm probably having a bad day, just let me SPEAK, maybe take notes (you're at work, right? you're a customer service representative, right? Maybe you should learn to be polite.).

I finally got off the phone with this jerk practically crying, since every one of the four people I spoke with today was rude, and I feel TRAPPED because I don't know of any other companies that offer this service. They were all bullies, and they were mean, and customer service representatives should be experts at making upset people feel better, not worse. I felt fine when I called them. Now I'm fuming.

In our current area (Madison, Wisconsin - a pretty big city, the state capitol, home to UW) service is horrible. Madison has 1 AAA service provider who comes in from another city. He makes a great effort, but being the only one doing it and living farther out, the waits for any type of help (e.g., my 16 year old son sitting in a broken down car in 4 lane traffic) are inevitably hours long. And the service he is able to provide that is covered is very limited (e.g., 5 miles towing max). We get occasional hotel discounts, but overall not worth the $$. I called at 9 pm to get a jump start for a Toyota Highlander Hybrid. I was very clear with AAA dispatch that this was a hybrid and I needed the charge box used for deep-charging hybrids (this is what I've been told to tell AAA dispatch by a AAA supervisor in the past). AAA sent out a service person who did not have the correct equipment to jump my car. This service person informed me they do not jump hybrids.

I called AAA back and they informed me that they do not have any contracts with any service stations in San Francisco that jump start hybrids. I told them that this is crazy since every 3rd car in San Francisco is a hybrid, plus they have sent service trucks to jump my car in the past. The supervisor said he wouldn't know about service for hybrids or types of cars in San Francisco as he is located in Utah. He told me I needed to call a service station on my own outside of AAA network and apply for a reimbursement of services after the fact. He suggested I call my Toyota dealership.

I waited 'til next morning to call my dealership. They were surprised that AAA would tell me to call them to find a service station outside of their network. The Toyota shop said they would call a service garage they use all the time for hybrids, however they said this service station was under AAA contract and I should make AAA call them instead of them calling and me paying upfront and waiting for reimbursement from AAA. When I called AAA they were reluctant at first and finally gave in to call the service company 3 miles from my location, under AAA contract and capable of starting my car.

I am curious why AAA was reluctant to help me and wondering are they making things difficult at the expense of their customers for in order to boost their profits. I am a AAA plus member and have been a loyal member for 30+ years. I am now wondering why am I continuing to pay for a service I am not receiving. BTW - this is the first service call I have made to AAA in 2 years. When the service vehicle finally arrived 16 hours after my initial call, they were surprised that AAA, didn't call them directly in the first place. I was informed that AAA will sometimes tell you to go outside of their network with the promise of reimbursement but will only cover the cost. No wonder customers are leaving AAA in droves - this is not good business practice.

On Friday, October 2nd, 2015, my wife and I drove to Hueston Woods near Oxford, Ohio where I was to attend a University of Dayton official retreat. The area was spectacular, and our accommodations were truly wonderful. We spent a great night and the following morning, with me attending the official sessions and finally a working lunch on Oct 3rd. Around 1 pm, our meetings were over, and my wife and I were ready to start our drive back home (about 40-45 minutes back to Springboro, OH under normal conditions). Unfortunately, after having taken many pictures in the wonderful resort-like surroundings, we got inside our 2010 Honda Insight (which is in top condition, and I am still making monthly payments), and found out that the car simply would not start. Other than making dull, moaning sounds, it would not even crank.

After some attempts at reviving the car, I realized that I must have left the interior light (which I had turned on the previous evening to read my directions to Heston Woods) on, and therefore the battery had clearly run down overnight in the cold and rainy weather. Around 1:30 PM, I called the 800 number for the local AAA (Miami Valley, Cincinnati, Dayton - whichever one would send someone along to jump start my car) to explain to him what my problem was, and what help was needed. Normally, one would expect this to be fairly straightforward. Not so with AAA for the next 3 hours. They repeatedly kept switching me over to different centers (I have even forgotten where all these were - Indiana, Cincinnati, perhaps a half-a-dozen others) to discuss the problem. Each time, I had to enter a great slew of numbers, standing outside in the rain (since the connection inside the Lodge was poor), before I found someone to talk to.

Eventually, they told me someone would get there in 30-45 minutes. I waited the requisite 45 minutes or so, and then called again to find out what was going on. Each such call back took a large sequence of call transfers (note that they had not given me any case # - something AAA would do in years past so that they would know which case they were handling, and provide quick updates). Several times thereafter, they gave me multiple 30-45 minute target times. In between, I received a cell phone message from AAA saying the battery-recharge guy would show up at 3:52pm (which would have been 2 1/2 hours from my first call).

I became very concerned at this stage, since our daughter back home had a Homecoming gathering arranged at home that evening, and we had assumed we would be back long before that. The above display of inefficiency went on till well past 4 pm, at which point my wife had the brilliant idea of asking a Park's person if he might be able to give us a jump start. Within minutes, the gentleman drove his pick-up next to our car; we opened up the hoods, connected the jumper cables (with his engine on), and I got inside my car and turned the key. Voila! The car started up immediately.

We thanked the Hueston Woods Park's gentleman for his timely help, and were on our way home. AAA used to be an excellent resource for years when I lived in N-E U.S. (upstate New York). In the past 10+ years (in SW-Ohio), I have had rather bad experiences with AAA in terms of services (with occasional exceptions on the plus side). This one in Hueston Woods was one of the worst. Had it not been for the Park Services' Good Samaritan, we might have been there much longer, and missed out on the other important activities we had been slated for later that evening. I am writing this negative review with the hope that AAA will make every effort to improve their emergency service performance, and streamline the means of reaching a client both ways.

I've been a member for 4 years as an addition to my family account which has been active for about 20 years. In that whole family membership, the service has been used 3 times. My wife and I took our jeep down a public access road to a local spot at the lake. Mind you, we live in Utah for school, and live in farm country where the city builds roads out of dirt and gravel. We arrived at the lakefront and realized there was no parking, so we pulled forward onto what we thought was dirt, but turned out to be mud. After 1 hour of working to get out, we called AAA (CA club). They said because we were "off-roading", we weren't covered and gave us a number for a tow company.

The tow truck arrived and it was a AAA affiliate company. Using a standard winch, he pulled us the 10 feet back onto the city built gravel road. He then told us that we should have been covered by AAA because he pulled out from the road. He told us how to file the request and was on his way. We went to the local AAA office and they said we would be fine to get the reimbursement, until they realized we were California club members and said we would have to go through them. We sent in the forms and we're quickly denied our request ($300) because we we're outside of our coverage.

I called the number provided and they fought me on it. I had them call the company in hopes that he would speak with the guy that towed us, but they spoke with someone else who said there was no way we were telling the truth. So the AAA agent again told me we were out of luck and ended the call. I then called the tow company and spoke with the guy that the agent spoke with about the matter.

This is what I learned: I was declined because the road that I was on was not paved with asphalt. He told me the second I left the asphalt highway for the gravel road, AAA requires them to count that as unsafe towing conditions and charge out of pocket. That means that if I go into farm country (5 minutes of the I-15) to drop off rent to my landlord, I am not covered for ANY AAA service that I have paid for because the county does not pour asphalt on each road around my apartments. Nowhere in the brochures or Member's Guide (which they condescendingly add to your request declined packet) does it say that county constructed gravel roads are not covered. Not even ones with a city posted sign marking the "Public Beach Access".

So here's the better option. Most car insurance companies can add a Roadside benefit to your policy just to sweeten the deal, but if not, try this: Set up a special account (savings, PayPal, Apple wallet, Google pay, etc.) which withdraws the annual fee for AAA membership from your bank account each year and by the time you actually need a tow or something else, you have don't have to worry about whether you fall into a gap of service like driving on the wrong type of public road.

Progressive charges $12 per year for better coverage to AAA's $75… BIG OUCH!! The only difference with AAA is that my daughter is the one covered, not a specific vehicle. She has AAA in any vehicle she is driving or is a passenger in. The coverage isn't tied to a vehicle like it is with Progressive, BUT for those rates, we could put all our cars on Progressive Roadside and still have money left over. I am happy with AAA's service, but I am not happy with the price compared to our insurance company!

My father was a member of AAA for 25 years and recently passed away. I was an associate member on his membership for 20 years. I called to notify them that he had passed away and that I wanted to continue my membership. I was told that I needed to bring a death certificate and his power of attorney to an office in order to do that because I might be trying to commit fraud. My mother has Alzheimer's disease and it is difficult to get her places, no one there cared. Apparently there is a HUGE problem with towing fraud. I tried to apply online for my own membership but could not because my email is linked to my father's account, welcome to AAA circular hell.

Sent an email for help and got a response addressed to my father! Sure, they read my email that clearly stated my father had passed away. Replied to that, asked to be called, no call. Sent another email asking for call, got a call. Unable to help because it is their "policy" to require a death certificate or power of attorney. Heard about their policy six more times and again stated I might be trying to commit fraud. Their lack of sensitivity is appalling. Like the other reviewers I have never been so angry in my life. My family's loyalty to them is apparently misplaced. My advice is to get a different roadside assistance company. AAA has no compassion.

We have been AAA Plus members for almost two decades. Rarely have we used the service. Last night my son (who is on the membership) broke down in a bad area of Boston at 4 pm. We quickly arranged for AAA to tow him and the car out of there. They first stated they would be there within 30 minutes. They did not show up. We called every half hour for FOUR hours. Each time they said the driver was "10 minutes away" or "right around the corner". These obvious lies led us to believe our son was safe when in fact, he was left on a dangerous Boston Street (Dorchester section) well into the evening, well after dark. He witnessed drug deals and shady characters throughout the ordeal. Had we known, we would have immediately extracted him from there hours earlier.

This company, when we finally did need them after all these years of paying our membership, not only failed miserably, but created an extremely dangerous environment for my child, putting his safety at extreme risk. If you have children, or simply don't like to be lied to, find another service right away!! We have. One more note... Towards the end of the ordeal, when I called for the NINTH time to provide an address to the car, this AAA operator was so rude and unhelpful. She obviously hated her job and the people with whom she deals.

Called for AAA roadside service and received an estimate of up to an hour wait time. After waiting for an hour with no service, I called to inquire. Was told the driver was on his way and would be there within 15-20 minutes. 40 minutes later I called, was put on hold for 5 minutes, then inquired again about my roadside service. Was put on hold again for 5 minutes, then told they could not reach the driver and they would call me back. Ten minutes later I received a text that the driver would arrive within another 30 minutes. All this in the middle of the day, no rush hour traffic, no snow or weather-related delays. One minute before the driver finally arrived I was able to get my car started and I told him that I wanted to cancel my AAA. He said, "O, you want to cancel the call?" I said, "No, I want to cancel my AAA membership." I just signed up for the #1 rated road service, Allstate Motor Club.

My car broke down in a somewhat rural area in Virginia so I called AAA to get a tow truck. It took forever to get it through the rep's head where I was pulled over -- a rural area does *not* have a street address and the cross-streets are few and far between. Still, I managed to get across where I was located. After I gave the rep all the info, my cell phone lost the call. Still, she'd said she'd contacted the towing company and the truck would be there in 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, I called back -- to discover that she had never placed the order. The call dropped, she shrugged, and went on to the next call.

So I started again with the new rep. It took another 15-20 minutes to explain where I was (rural = no street address), and I was told it would take 45 minutes for the tow truck to arrive. After 45 minutes, I called back -- to discover that SHE had never placed the order. God knows why, but she didn't. So I started AGAIN with ANOTHER rep. It took another 15-20 minutes to explain where I was, and I was told it would take 45 minutes for the tow truck to arrive. Half an hour later, this little guy finally called a towing company. The driver called me and said it would be ANOTHER 45 minutes before he could arrive; he was heading to a call that was 20 miles in the opposite direction.

I've been a AAA member for 20+ years and have never had any serious problems before now. I have never experienced this level of gross incompetence and disregard for a customer. I called AAA and complained -- repeatedly, which is why Brittany from Member Relations finally left me a message. Brittany apologized sincerely, and she used her Sincere voice. "I sincerely apologize," she said, and since she gets paid to say that, you just know she means it. Of course, nothing is going to happen -- oh, the member reps who never called the towing company *might* get a little training "if their managers think it's necessary," but nothing else. I'm dropping AAA and going with GEICO. I'm not having this crap happen again, thanks!

Let me start by saying my father has been paying for premiere membership for over 20 years. Used his roadside maybe twice in that time. He's 72 years old now. Broke down last summer, waited nearly 2 hours in 110 degree heat on oxygen before calling me and mom to come get him and me to wait for the truck. Fine, did that. After 3 hours driver arrives. I explain to him and he looks at me says, "No card holder, no tow" and drives away. Another hour passes with me on the phone and them telling me, "So sorry, basically not my problem." Hour later father is taken to the hospital with heat related sickness.

AAA does us a "one time favor" and has dad's van towed without him there... WOW! Recommends I add onto my father's policy (75$) so I can speak on his behalf, fine. Definite money grab but whatever I add on as a premier member. Flash forward 11 months now I need a tow with my hobby car, 1954 merc (dad's old car). They see it's going to be a long tow and begin to seek out reasons to NOT tow my car!!! I had to end up renting a uhaul for 60$. At the end of the day premier means nothing, customer satisfaction means nothing, no value here, no honor in the AAA names. Just another company wanting to give nothing back. Shame on you AAA.

SHAME, SHAME, SHAME ON AAA. Over 12 days ago I broke down in Yosemite National park in California. I have a RV and was with my 2 children. I live in New Jersey. It was about noon. I had no cell service. A ranger shows up and drives me to cell service spot. We call AAA. The park ranger gives my location. We are told a truck will be there in a few hours. He takes me back. Around 730pm the park ranger shows up and states AAA cancelled your service call and call within the morning and leaves. Now my children get upset. One has autism, ADHD, and OCD. The sun is setting, it's getting cold, and no people around. I decide to hike 2 miles to the cell service site to call and see why. My kids are now crying and afraid. There are bears, coyotes, and rattlesnakes.

After being on the phone with a supervisor for 2 hours they say of all is good and truck will be there in a few hours. I start my hike back. Now it's pitch dark and very cold. I tell my kids we will be towed in few hours. Try to sleep until they come. Needless to say they are afraid but we fall asleep around 5am. I wake at 9am no truck. Once again I hike 2 miles. I call and I'm told service was canceled AGAIN. Now I'm fuming. They reorder service, but say it's going to be 8 hours before truck comes because the tow company is 8 hours away. I explain my food and water is low. My septic almost full and my electric almost gone. I get "DON'T YOU WORRY WE WILL BE THERE ".

Nine hours go by. No tow truck. I hike again 2 miles each way. I'm told no luck. I explain I'm now in an emergency situation. The rangers are going to evacuate us. Was on phone with them for over 3 hours. Getting dark and cold. Ranger gets us at 10pm and drops us off at lodge. I call AAA to advise where at. AGAIN I'm advised my service call was canceled. Now furious.

I bought this policy in person. AAA gave me my route plan in person. Knew where I was going and guaranteed service. I go to sleep after being told a truck is on way. It's after midnight. I Wake Up AND Call AAA. Told again sorry service call was cancelled again by AAA not me. Now I snap it's THREE DAYS LATER. They call for another tow truck. It's a tow company in the park. A half hour from my RV. Idiots why didn't they call them first. Now my RV isn't ready til the next day. I had to dish out over $600 for a room and food. I talk to AAA and post on their Facebook page. I'm told they will expedite getting money back so I can get home. They will call me. RIGHT they never do.

I pick up RV. I'm told it's just the battery connectors. This is an AAA repair shop. I have them change my oil too. About 5 hours later RV is on fire. YES IT IS. Fire department and cops ask if I want them to call AAA. I laugh and say no they did us dirty. I guess the AAA mechanic didn't see if that was the only issue. Now I'm stranded another 7 days. Lay out over $5000. Had to call dad for help. He sent me some m ok new but said no more.

I'm thinking ok AAA will keep their word and help knowing I'm a single disabled mother of 2 traveling with my kids. SORRY IS ALL THEY SAY FOR THEIR

INCOMPETENCE!!! You leave me stranded in California for 3 days with 2 kids. This was over 13 days ago. I dished out a ton of money that I needed to get back home because their people cancel my service call THREE TIMES. I went in person to an AAA office in person in California. They laughed out the door with my two kids. We get AAA so we are not stranded and alone on the road. That is exactly what they have done.

All they had to say is sorry. A supervisor said they would help get my money back quick so I can get back to New Jersey from California. More lip service. Yesterday on phone with them for over 2 hours. No help. Now I'm stranded in New Mexico with 2 kids with no money for gas or RV campsites until I get paid on September 5th. Guess we will be sleeping in a parking lot til then. Nothing like AAA abandoning us twice. Guess I have time now to spread my story on social media and websites. Keep my story going. Maybe then they will help. Oh I'm going to use my 28 foot RV to spread my story. That's over 2000 miles of a moving billboard.

How can you let a company you pay good amount of money to not provide these services to your children. Never. This is far infuriating to worry about my child's own safety from my own car insurance company. I trust that others should not use this unless your child's name is written on the policy.

I have AAA Plus with RV coverage. A new tire blew on my camper, taking out part of the side/underside of the thing. Called AAA... was transferred to a 'local' club for service. They asked all of the usual questions, then told me they don't cover RV's. Well, my local club does and I paid for the coverage, so... after a bit of back and forth, they finally conceded that they had to tow me.

First flatbed couldn't fit my RV (and they asked me all of the size info). He helped me limp it to a safer area. Second tow, same deal. Now over 3 hours into this mess. AAA called me back stating that they didn't have a 'big enough' flatbed so they were going to have to give me a number to call for a private company and I would have to pay out of pocket... seriously? After much arguing I had to do just that. AAA says that, on Monday, they will let me know what forms need to be filled out to have them reimburse the tow. I'm still trying to figure out why I had to pay anything anyway??? I paid for the extra coverage for a reason!

Our vacation was ruined by the tire and AAA removed any chance of salvage since it was almost $800 for the tow! Not to mention, close to 5 hours, in the sun, with 4 kids ( one with autism) in the truck area of a rest stop. To say I'm disgusted would be an understatement. AAA does NOT provide nationwide and Canadian service (as they claim)... If they did, you wouldn't have to drop a dime ANYWHERE for what you pay them for, for service. BTW... the camper is only 23, not exactly a giant and I was still in my home state!

This maniac then took MY crowbar and threw it hard against the pavement while screaming ** about a dozen times. I tried to walk away and normally don't scare easily but knew this guy was not in his right mind. He then told me not to go anywhere and demanded I stand right there.

Now I was terrified. He was now holding a large metal pipe in his hand that he took from his tow truck. He again tried to change the tire and was having trouble removing the lug nuts. He had attached the long pipe to the end of the crowbar and was violently jumping on the pipe. My car was bouncing up and down and all the while he was screaming & cursing that he weighed over 200 ** pounds and screaming at me why are the lug nuts put on my car so ** tight. So now the supporting metal piece under my driver's side door has been damaged and the driver's side electric window was not working. Was first told they don't provide that service then put the dispatch man on the phone and said it would require a special tool and the charge would be $180!!!! Ridiculous. We have been stranded on the side of the road for 2 hours!!! No help from AAA.

I authorized payment of the AAA annual subscription fee for my wife and me in an August 2014 telephone call. The charge went to my credit card and I also enabled Autopay. July 1, 2015 I called AAA to terminate Autopay, request a credit to my card for the charges they placed on my card a FULL month in advance of the renewal date, and request a bill. The representative refused all 3 of my requests and my card has not been credited as of today. AAA refused to stop charging my credit card account because I am not the first named person on the account - only my wife who shares my last name and address, according to AAA, has the right to terminate billing to my (not a joint) credit card. The only alternative offered by AAA was the demand that I fax to them my complete credit card statement from August of last year in order to show the original charge.

We were not disputing that charge; we only wanted the credit to my card for future service and a bill. The AAA representative would not let me speak with a supervisor and courteously told me that he was going to hang up because my time was up. After immediately filing a complaint with the BBB, AAA called wife and left the message she should call them. My wife called them twice during business hours and has left 2 messages which have not been returned.

The evening of Thursday, July 16 I have gotten a flat at 5:30pm. I called Triple 'A' at 5:45pm. They took my information and said ETA will be 45 minutes and the driver will call you. I was thinking great, 6:30ish, I'll give them till 6:45pm. They will be done and I can watch my son's performance. 6:45pm came and still NO one, NO call. I called Triple 'A' again, this time they told me they're on a manual whatever, meaning their system is down and everything is being done manually. OMFG... really?? Why did they not say that the first time I called. At this point, no one knows what ticket number am I or who's coming, or what time someone will be there. Called again at 8pm because now everyone's going home. Again they tell me, "45 minutes and driver will call"; so that's 8:45pm, almost 9pm.

The girl on the other side of the line says "driver should be there 9:08pm". I waited and guess what? YUP!!! Same thing, NO SHOW of a driver or NO CALL from the suppose supervisor they keep mentioning. I called again this time at 9:15pm. They tell me "driver should be there at 9:48pm". Here we go again!! The runarounds. After going back and forth, keep getting new ETA times. Finally a driver from Aloha Roadside service calls at 11pm saying he's on his way. I asked how long, he says he's coming from Kapolei... Hello!! I'm up in Palolo Valley. I said fine, I been waiting 5 hrs already. And guess what? Took the *beep beep* an hour... Yup!! An hour and it's night, there's no traffic.

I drive to Waianae and it takes me only 45 minutes w/ no traffic. I was so pissed off and frustrated already. I just wanted him to change the tire so I could get my son home cause he was tired and we both had to use the bathroom and take a nice shower. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, we was stranded at a public gym parking lot, in the dark because all the lights went off at 10pm and of course they lock up the bathrooms. Triple 'A'.. like really?? People like us pay for these type of service and this the service we get. Unreal!! I'm not sure if I would want to renew my membership for the year of 2016. Sad!!! :(

I realized my membership was going to expire but remembered that AAA has a grace period for renewal. I sent in my check & my bank statement showed it was cashed so I assumed my membership was renewed. I tried to use it & my membership had been canceled. Thinking there was a mistake because they had received payment & cashed my check, I called to get this resolved. I was told that I paid after my grace period therefore would need to pay another $20 for new membership. I know there is always specials waiving that fee but for a returning customer there is nothing that could be done. When I said I didn't want to pay the additional fee, I was informed there was a 20 day hold on refunds.

When I asked why the check was cashed if the membership was not renewed, I was told they cash any check they receive. Had I not called I would have assumed I had Coverage, as they had cashed my check. So now I am out $48 for the next 20 days (not from when they cashed my check, from when I called to see why my membership was not active seeing as how they received my money). My mistake for sending money to a company I thought had a good reputation & customer service. I will not be renewing again.

AAA offers the worst service ever. Last night we got a flat tire and the uncompassionate roadside assistance person was useless. A 3 hour window to get someone in the city of Milwaukee at 9:30 pm in great weather in the summer? Seriously? Ended up having my husband with a broken neck change the flat himself so we could get our 5 year old granddaughter home. We pay big bucks for their top service. We have had their roadside service for the past 15 years and this is how they repay us? We need our money back and a formal apology from this company. My husband can barely move today and now he needs to go back to the neurosurgeon because of the incompetence of AAA -- my husband is disabled for crying out loud and this is the way AAA treats its customers? I have a funny feeling that we were discriminated because they knew the color of our skin from my voice on the phone. Real nice.

He did not switch the off, and got lost. He call and we gave him the address again, waited a while. He calls back still lost so I took my phone and snap a picture of the ad. which had the company name, address, phone number and a map. He still could not find it.

The driver called the shop, and they tried to help him and the shop said after the 5th call from the driver, they sent someone out to get him. When my car did get to the shop 2+ hours later the switch was on and the battery was dead. The shop have tried charging it and it wont charge up. They let it charge overnight, that ain't work. So now I have to buy a battery and take it to the shop, so they can work on it. I picked this shop because of the price and they are not in my neighborhood not the money to get a battery, plus I be at work when the shop is open. So the premium membership with AAA service I received.

On Friday, June 26, 2015, we experience a tire blow out. We were headed on Hwy 39 going North mile marker 102. Our exit was mile marker 113. At 7:23pm, I made my first call to AAA, explained my problem and they told me they would get back to me. I called back again at 7:51 and at that point I was told dispatch was looking into finding someone to help me with the flat. I was also told it would take up to 75 minutes before I received a call back. At 7:59, I called back and was told they are working on it. At 8:51, I called. Spent 12 minutes on hold with a supervisor and I said "it's too late now," I wanted to be towed back home and I have the plus membership and anything over the allotted 100 miles they would have to eat.

He told me he could not authorize that. I have waited all this time. I could have had someone from Waukesha here with a tire. He then told me I was 102 miles from home and AAA would eat the extra 2 miles. But that's all he could do. I just need to sit tight. I had several words for this guy, finding it hard to believe that they could not find anyone from Wisconsin Dells, Madison, Portage or the smaller communities that we were near. About 10, Marquette County Sheriff stopped by and he called the local AAA contact and by 10:30 we were being towed back to Waukesha. 10:30pm, 3 hours later the very nice lady from Dispatch called and she was still working on finding someone to get us. 3 hours and she is still looking.

Why have AAA? I told her, "never mind, the sheriff found us a local guy who will tow us back to Milwaukee." The Local guy Mike Beahm from Beahm's Towing and Recovery in Montello, WI was so great. He happened to have at his shop a tire we could put on the car and instead of having the whole weekend ruined we just arrived really late to the cabin. He was very willing to take us back to Waukesha that night if we wanted. The call from Dispatch did check on us somewhere between 9 and 10 before the sheriff had arrived to let us know they were working on it. No One should have to wait 3 plus hours for help on the side of the road. I am not done with my complaining and I will tell whoever will listen. In defense of AAA when we have had to use them locally in Waukesha/Milwaukee area nothing but great but outside the area the experience was HORRIBLE.

At 12:36 they called to update me by telling me they should be here about 1:40, or an hour after their original promised time. When I expressed disappointment, the dispatcher said the first one "shouldn't have said that" and repeatedly gave his patronizing script about "it's always difficult when you have car trouble".

So here I sit, hopefully not looking like too much of a target, a lone female in a car at 1:00 am, waiting, unable to drive off. I wonder how many people they have responding to calls for help... maybe one for all of Houston? Update. No one was here by 1:50 but a security guard at a nearby church changed the tire and taught me how. She is awesome! Much more helpful than AAA.

I registered at the receptionist then waited a few minutes before I was called to the car registration desk. The girl asked me if it was raining and I said not yet. She began asking for the paperwork which I had all ready for her. This took about 15 minutes or so, at which point she got out of her chair, walked to the front window and then came back.

She then said that I would have to go somewhere else to get my VIN # validated since she claimed they would not let them do it in the rain. I looked out the window by the desk and I could hardly see any drops at all! She tried to give a form to take somewhere else to something that would take about two minutes. My car was parked about 15 feet from the door. I could see if I was a downpour, but a few drops!!! I asked the girl for my paperwork back and I would go somewhere that WANTED to register my car for me. If she really wanted to help me she would have done the VIN validation first when there was no rain at all. I doubt I will go back there again.

I have been an AAA member for 36 years!!! My car battery died and I called AAA for their battery replacement service. I specifically requested a new battery. The vehicle was parked at my residence, which is a condo. A flatbed truck stopped at my location and the driver took out a battery tester. I told him that it was not necessary as I knew that the battery was dead. He hooked up the tester anyway. He stated "battery is dead".......... Really? I told him that I requested a new battery and stated he did not have one but could call and get one. He then looked at my battery and said that I can get a prorated price on a new battery since I purchased it at Auto Zone. He said he would jump it for me and I could just take it there and have it changed. I inquired if the vehicle would remain running once he jumped it.

He stated that as long as I don't shut it off it will keep running. He jumped the dead battery, and left. I went into the house to get my wallet and when I returned, the vehicle had stopped running and would not restart. I immediately called AAA and asked for roadside assistance. When this person answered, I told him that I requested a battery replacement. He looked this up after obtaining my information. He stated that he sees that I had called for a battery replacement and commenced to relay what had ensued with the tow truck driver. After my slight tirade he stated that battery replacement service was NOT AVAILABLE in my area!!! It should be noted that the tow truck driver came from the nearest town (2 1/2 miles away). There is even an AAA certified auto repair shop two miles further!!! No battery service??? Are you kidding me?

He also stated that if I wanted a battery, a tow truck would have to tow my car to the nearest repair shop have a battery installed. I stopped him there and told him to have a nice day. After I had disengaged my battery I called my neighbor and asked if he would be kind enough to drive me to Auto Zone to purchase a new battery, under the supposition that it would be prorated. We got there and I told the salesman that the battery had died. He checked it, saw the year it was installed (3 yrs. ago) and I asked if I could get a pro ration.

He said the store stopped pro rating 2 years ago..... I purchased a new battery. After I had installed the new battery, I was still upset at AAA that I called customer service. I spoke to a friendly woman with whom I relayed my ordeal. She told me that she would send this complaint to management and would hear from someone within ten working days. I waited 11 days and no call. I have quit AAA as it seems that I am paying for lip service. Good riddance!!!

It's only covered under the RV policy. I told them I don't own an RV. This is a regular pickup truck. They said, "I'm sorry we cannot help you, but we will call a wrecker for you", and that I would have to pay for it myself. Well what choice did I have so I said ok. I see most people leaving bad reviews for wait time after calling AAA for a tow. Well my wait time was indefinite. It's bad enough being broke down on the side of the road in the summer time with no AC because your vehicle doesn't run. Owning some classic cars and receiving many solicitations from AAA I called them citing concerns I had previously. After assuaging my concerns I canceled my towing service that I held with my classic insurance to save me a little money. Buyer beware! I had a car break down and towed to a "supposedly" good shop only to find the gent was subbing out all the work and the price was as you would expect from sub-contracting; gouged. I found another shop about 5 miles down the road and when the tow driver called to verify advised I needed to pay $75.00.

When I called AAA initially for the tow, the girl was new because I could hear her supervisor in the back telling her what to say, neglecting to note the fee; which I might add was one of my questions prior to renewing with AAA. Needless to say after five phone calls and a flagrant disregard for any miss-steps on their part I ended up paying over $100.00 to tow my car. They never returned my calls and switched me from person to person. I will be canceling my subscription once and for all after it expires. There are far better companies out there.

I was told that the contractor had came and left and that both parties AAA and A Z Towing had called me as well and could not reach therefore the Tow Truck had left, neither of these is factual, you received no phone calls from either party, in fact I was then told that the contractor could not verify or find my address, (they have been in this community many many many times, they have assisted me at least twice, same company, same trucks).

Now after being lied to by AAA, having to wait another hour and some minutes the contractor shows up, pulls right by my vehicle as if he lived in the community himself, sat in his tow truck for 3 to 5 minutes until finally I addressed him and advised the driver that they were over two hours late and we needed to get the vehicle on the tow truck and taken to the maintenance facility less than 4 miles away, the driver advises me not to address him and tells me he will leave. I walked away, got into my vehicle to assist him in getting the vehicle securely on the truck (release the brake, steer as directed). The driver comes to me with his phone and hands it to me advising that AAA wanted to speak with me.

After waiting over two hours now he wants me to speak with them regarding the matter, after a brief conversation which I ended, again after I have been lied to by AAA and advising the driver this was not his fault personally they told the driver/contractor NOT to assist me, services that I have paid for. I have been disrespected, lied to, insulted, misled by AAA. After making several calls, speaking with "supervisors" trying to get resolution I was told that they would not offer me services that I have paid for in the form of annual membership dues.

I have been addressed and spoken to as if I were a customer who did not matter and as a business owner myself I find this unacceptable. I had to pay another tow truck provider $75.00 to tow my vehicle 4 miles, I have had my entire day consumed by this all because AAA dropped the ball at 7:48 in the morning and blatantly and boldly lied to a customer who has been with them over 10 years. My resolution? I am canceling my worthless AAA membership IMMEDIATELY and advising ANYONE who has had issues with this company to do so as well, they don't deserve my business.

AAA is happy to take our money and provide as little "service" as possible. It will be a cold day in hell when they get another check from me. I've paid for membership for over 25 years and called three times. The first time was during a snow storm and I waited over 2 hours & no one came... Finally a police officer felt sorry for me and offered help. The second time I called, someone came in an hour to change my flat tire. Today, May 23, 2015, I called & have been sitting in my car for 2 hours so far with no help. When I called today, they told me someone would be here within an hour. I'm sick of AAA and wouldn't recommend them to anyone!!!

On March 3, 2015 about 3 pm, my wife and I were traveling north on US highway 425 about 8 miles south of Star City AR. We were driving in a 31' motorhome towing a small car on a tow dolly. It was raining and a very poor time for a tire on the tow dolly to blow out. The highway in this area is quite narrow with marginal shoulders. After getting the unit stopped and emergency flasher lights working, a call was made for emergency road service at 1-800-AAA-HELP. We were transferred to the Arkansas district of AAA for assistance. Much to our dismay, the AAA road service indicated they would be unable to provide service to us at that time as our plan did not cover this type of problem in Arkansas. The representative was less than helpful with about all we got out of that call was a phone number of a service in Star City that may be able to help. That phone number proved to be an incorrect phone number.

At this point we were on our own, just the reason we belonged to AAA since 1997 not to find ourselves in this situation. Fortunately a highway patrol man happened to be travelling south from Little Rock to Monticello, AR. He turned around, stopped, and asked what our problem was and could he help. Once he fully understood our predicament he got busy. He contacted a road service in Monticello and arranged for that service to come to resolve our problem. He made sure we had all the contact information we needed concerning the service provider and gave us his phone number, indicating that if the problem did not get resolved to give him a call. His total time with us was about 30 minutes and most of that was in the rain.

The final result was that the service provider did get to us within less than an hour and had us on our way shortly thereafter. That service provider, Dan’s Tire and Exhaust, was most professional and helpful. The individual was **. We continued on to a small RV park outside of Pine Bluff and continued to our destination the next day.

This was just the beginning of a series of events with AAA that now has us wondering why we kept up this membership for so many years. On return home on the 10th of March, I contacted AAA Ok at 1-877-222-1206 and advised the representative (sorry don’t have a name) of this occurrence. The response was one of surprise that such an event had occurred and that AAA would look into the matter. She asked if we wished to file a complaint against the AAA Arkansas office that provided no service to an AAA customer. She also indicated that AAA would reimburse us for the expenses that were part of the road service provided. All we had to do was download a claim form from your website and mail it along with the original invoice. The form and invoice was mailed on the 11th of March to the above office address.

On or about March 18, 2015 we received a phone call late in the afternoon. The individual indicated she was with AAA and understood I wanted to speak to someone from the office. I explained that yes I had asked that a follow-up call be made to me to determine the status of my complaint. Her response was that tow dollies were not covered under our policy and nothing else would be done. This was certainly not our understanding as AAA has provided tire service for this particular tow dolly while we were in Florida in 2013. There was never a question from the service provider. As of this date no other communications have been had with AAA. If the claim has been disallowed one would expect that the original invoice would be returned to the sender.

As a result of this situation I once again reviewed my files to determine if I should have realized that I was not covered by a road service program, rather a highly designed group of services for the traveler. In review of the original documentation that describes the benefits, a single page document that includes an application for membership, the salesman proudly points out that “when your car won’t run”: 24 hour toll-free number for road service anywhere in the USA, tire changing service, towing service, starting your disabled car, out of gas service, lock and key service.

Our experience in the past has been satisfactory and we have enjoyed the (false) piece of mind that if trouble occurred AAA would be there to help. Further investigation of our online membership fails to indicate what type of vehicles we have or what ones are covered. In reading the really fine wording in a document titled “Safe on the road and help when you need it” all sorts of exceptions are taken regarding our RV, which is the prime vehicle we wanted covered by AAA.

For example. 1) Under eligible Vehicles, “Service applies to four-wheeled motor driven vehicles of the passenger, pleasure or recreational type.” It then indicates in the next paragraph that “Dual wheel campers/motor homes are eligible for all services except towing, extrication/winching and tire service.” It would, therefore, appear that the only coverage we have on our motorhome, being that it is a dual wheel vehicle is help in starting it, bringing gas should we be out and lock and key service is provided under our policy. 2) Emergency Services. The following emergency series will be provided to place our vehicle in a drivable condition. If these attempts are unsuccessful after reasonable effort by the service provider, the towing provision will apply. NOT IF WE HAVE DUAL WHEEL VEHICLES, SEE ABOVE.

    3) Flat Tire. If your vehicle’s spare tire is inflated and serviceable, it will be installed to replace a flat tire. If no inflated spare is available, the vehicle will be towed in accordance with the towing provision. NOT IF WE HAVE DUAL WHEEL VEHICLES, SEE ABOVE. 4) Towing Services. This is of interest. In instances when your vehicle becomes disabled while towing a light duty trailer, service will be provided for the trailer (excludes fifth wheel trailers). FIFTH WHEELED TRAILERS IN MANY CASES ARE RV’S SO THIS EXCLUDES THAT FORM OF RECREATIONAL VEHICLE.

The above exemptions further confused us with the coverage with our policy. We have in the past had three or four situations where the rear wheel tire of our motorhome has failed. In all cases a call to AAA resulted in some measure of coverage, but in all cases did get us back on the road. That is why we continued coverage with AAA. However, now with the most recent situation which was extremely dangerous due to weather conditions and being on a busy two-lane road with no shoulders are we now to expect this limited scope of service from AAA.

What is expected from this letter? As a minimum, an apology for putting us in this position with no help being offered by AAA and a return of the original invoice for the service provided. Any more would be an effort on the part of AAA to maintain a long-term customer. It is my opinion that the literature used for selling this policy is false advertising. The customer really doesn’t have complete road coverage, if they are in a vehicle outside the narrow description provided. AAA knew we had a motorhome or if they didn’t then that should be a question asked to assure the policy covered the customers’ needs.

AAA didn’t have any problem of updating my policy from a standard policy to an AAA plus level, due to improved undefined coverage for travel trailers, campers, motorhomes, and motorcycles. Certainly any automobile insurance policy clearly defines the vehicle covered. One item that I failed to list in the chronology of the events is that shortly before receiving the only returned call a notice of policy premium being due arrived. It appears my credit card on file had expired and I was being asked to update that information on line so the policy can automatically be renewed.

When I saw the location of AAA Thunderbird Road, AZ I realized that I had a bad taste in my mouth from a prior visit 15 years ago. I had just returned to the Valley from NY and my alternator went out on my car. I priced the alternator from the very company that they purchased it from, (O'Reilly's Auto Parts), and they DID NOT HAVE ONE priced higher than 169.00! I discussed the price I was being charged for the part (285.21), with the "service dept. **," he told me the computer spits out the price, they cannot change it. I thought that to be unbelievable and reasoned with him. I felt as if a 110% markup was, "gouging." He gave me a discount of 20.00… I told him I had to have the car fixed, but that I would take up the "price gouging" with the manager.

I spoke to **, the manager the following day. He had the audacity to repeat himself many, many times, insisting that the price is "marked up" accordingly due to the 2 year guarantee and the "free" tow which I received that did not count against my yearly quote of tow's with my Premiere AAA Subscription. Utterly ABSURD!!! I explained; "If I get a 'free' tow with the service or repair, why then, would it be 'padded' into the 'markup' of the part?"

I continued with, "In addition, if I have a guarantee of two years warranty on the part, why then would I be charged within the price of the part? Is it not a guarantee, (free), and a free tow with service or repair, making it 'free' not costly through part price padding!!!" He said there was nothing he could do, it is the way it is and he was not going to change the price. He insisted that he could NOT change the price and that it is "marked up" due to the cost of running a shop, electric, staff and so on. Again, UTTERLY ABSURD!! Thank you for taking this concern for fairness.

I have had AAA (the local towing service that contracts with them) to my house 2x now within the past (3) months. They perform a battery test "after" the battery is started via jumper cables. Each time I was told that the battery is fine and "would you like to purchase a new battery?" I called AAA to make a complaint and was routed thru their system. I ultimately spoke to a customer relations supervisor who told me that the battery test would have to reflect the battery as "defective" to have it replaced for free per the AAA warranty. His records showed the battery as testing "normal" each time. He stated that "perhaps there was something in my car that was affecting the battery?"

I have regular maintenance performed on my car. There were and are no issues. I have been a loyal AAA customer over 13+ years. I never had an issue until now. I am beyond disillusioned and upset at the run-around I keep getting. To ensure my personal safety and that of my kids, I will be purchasing a new car battery - but not from AAA!!! Wait time for roadside service has been 2 to 3 hours. This is not reasonable and puts the consumer in danger of injury or worse. When AAA customer service was contacted they just stated that we are experiencing long wait time in that particular area without an acceptable solution. Upon arrival, they were given several opportunities to replace my defective battery but continued to point the finger at the alternator. Independent testing discovered a bad cell in the AAA battery which after submitting documentation, they offered a very small percentage of the replacement cost.

This was done after much discussion and haggling over the phone as they reverted to fine print and company policy. They must be formally trained in "spin" 101! Please be aware of this inferior customer service as AAA neither made any reasonable attempt to resolve my predicament in a timely fashion, nor did they and returned my call. My final out-of-pocket cost was over $450 dollars to resolve the problem through my dealership but could have easily been resolved by AAA replacing the battery. This occurred Oct 2014. I had put my daughter on my policy until she qualified to get her own when she had an accident in Nov 2014. My renewal date is April 2015. I have a 1999 Jeep and carried liability only for the past few years. She had a 2009 Dodge with full coverage. My premium was $500.00 a year. Hers was $800.00.

I explained my October accident - that's what she called it, an accident. I have no control over the wind. Anyway my daughter got her own insurance and I was told this time when I called my premiums went down to $559.00 because my daughter was removed. I pay monthly and the lady said my payments would be $51.00 a month. Right then she took one payment with my permission.

Today the 22 April I get 2 letters from them. One stating my bill was raised up to 563.00 to April 2015. The other letter says 976.00 to April 2016. I am so frustrated I'm not sure if anyone reading this can make heads or tails what I'm talking about but I was just under the impression that my total bill for me would be about $51.00 a month. After an accident where my vehicle ended up in a 4-5 foot deep ditch, I of course needed to have it repaired for some suspension damage, both side airbags deploying which ripped the headliner off the roof and a decent dent in the front bumper. I chose to go with the first shop they recommend from their certified repair shops and was given a 2 week estimate on the repairs. When 2 weeks had passed I had not heard anything from repair shop or AAA, so I went to the repair shop to find out what was going on. I find out that they could not do the repairs and outsourced it to another shop 4 days after they received my vehicle, which as I was then told was standard practice.

However after 11 days, they had still not received the estimate from the other shop which is right next door. So after that plus numerous other delays because the air bag module had to be shipped by ground. Then they forgot to order a different part - it has now been 32 days with zero work being done on my vehicle and another 11 until it's actually fixed. So I call the claims department and a supervisor calls me the next day after talking to the repair shop. So I tried to tell her the situation with the delays and numerous different stories. However she just dismissed what I was saying and that she was making a note about what the shop told her into the computer and that was what AAA was going to go by.

Insurance is supposed to work for the insured person, that is what we pay our premium for, not so they can automatically agree with and take the side of the people I'm having a dispute with, then dismiss what I'm trying to tell them and blow me off. I can't believe how unprofessional I have been treated by not only the repair shops but by my own insurance company.

I have been a Member of AAA for 25 years. Over that time I have used them for an occasional tire change or battery jump start. Yesterday I called due to a dead battery. Waited an hour for service. Technician tested the battery which was completely drained and instead of replacing it, told me to get an electrical diagnostic on my car, claiming my electrical system drained the battery. It was a battery installed by AAA less than five months ago. He also insisted I must have left the lights on overnight or something. They were set on automatic and were definitely not left on. So, instead of replacing the battery, he jump started it and said I needed a written report that the electrical system is OK. I had the car into the Cadillac dealership less than a month before for oil change, new wipers, etc. at which time a complete diagnostic was performed. There were no electrical issues present.

However that paperwork was not in the car therefore he insisted I need a written statement before he would replace the 5 month old battery. I drove to the dealership where the car was purchased and all warranty had been performed and asked them to do the diagnostic test. It is now 5:45 on Friday night and they close at 6:00. The only reason they even took my car in was because of my history there as a loyal customer. After the car checked out fine I called AAA again for the new battery. The girl I spoke to said, "Do you have it in writing?" I said "yes", then she said the technician wrote on his report that I needed to have the battery charged for 5 hours before he would come back. Something he NEVER said to me. When I tried to tell her that, she got nasty and indignant. I asked for her name which she said was **, probably fictitious.

I then asked to speak to a supervisor and she hung up. I called back and of course got another AAA representative and went through the the whole story again. She promised someone would be out within the hour. I waited, no one showed up. Called again, another agent, same story, so sorry for your inconvenience, someone will be out within the hour. This scenario went on with 12 different calls and 4 1/2 hours of waiting. Finally a supervisor informed me they can't get anyone out anymore. I am waiting in the dark in a parking lot until 8:30 at night. Finally someone from the dealership offered to jump my car to get me home as it was pretty obvious AAA was not coming back to help me. I am a single woman, 68 years old, 25 years with AAA and they hung me out to dry!

I am through with them but I will contact every Better Business bureau and customer satisfaction rating site there is. I will take this to the Board of Directors of AAA. There is no reason anyone should have to go through what I did. There are other roadside assistance companies through AARP Hartford insurance and others. I hope all who read this will check them out and discontinue using this poor excuse for a business. After reading the other posts here, I don't know why they are still in business.

I signed up with AAA insurance when I got a new vehicle. The agent seemed very nice and got me signed up with liability and renters insurance claiming they were the cheapest. I asked questions and he answered what seemed with knowledge. He told me it would be about $400 up front and 7 payments of $81 and that I could add my fiance once he received his actual DL instead of permit. He also told me he was my agent to contact with any changes.

I received my first bill and paid over the $81 that was billed. When my second bill came it was $92! I called my "agent" for him to tell me he couldn't help me with my bill question or adding my fiance to policy and gave me a different number. I was told adding my fiance would be an additional $735 a year and the bill increase was a finance charge I should have been told about which I wasn't. Needless to say I found a new company that covered me and my fiance both with full coverage with roadside/rental car coverage and renters for $734 a year!

I called AAA for cancellation of my policy immediately. Of course there had to be something else - I was then informed I would be charged an 11% cancellation fee which I was supposed to be told about by agent (again I wasn't) and somehow it came out that I got a refund of a whole $80!!!! These people are shady and rude, as well as a piss poor excuse as a business!

Premier AAA is a Joke, AAA refused to tow my vehicle. I have Premier AAA, I have never used this service ever. Each year I pay for it but have been lucky enough so I never used it. Today I tried to use it. I have always paid for the best possible program AAA offers so I would never be excluded. I called AAA for a tow they flatly refused to tow my vehicle.

The reason they gave was because my repairman works at an auto salvage yard! I told them who cares, he's a good mechanic. I told them “I don't care if he sell Roses on the side of the road in his spare time.” Why does AAA get to pick who works on my care or they won't tow it? They offered to tow my vehicle to a licensed GMC dealer that would charge me 3 TIMES more for repairs. How does AAA feel their service helps anyone. BEWARE OF AAA, or YOU WILL GET RIPPED OFF.

I'm pretty surprised to read all the negative reviews here. I've been a member for 35-40 years and have NEVER had a single problem with AAA. They have jumped the battery, changed tires, fixed flats, etc. In 2005, my battery was dead. They sent the battery truck and promptly replaced my battery for $100. Ten years later, driving on the AAA battery, my car would not start. I called AAA. They gave me a two-hour waiting period. In one hour, they were here. The tech checked everything and said the battery would not hold the charge and I needed a new one. NO CHARGE.

He apologized for not being able to speak to AAA for me and said I needed to call them back and ask for the battery truck. They gave me a one-hour window. Less than 30 minutes later, the battery truck showed up. He was clean and polite, did some tests and said yes, I needed a battery. Fifteen minutes later, he completed the task, took my CC number and I was on the road. What GREAT service!!!!!

I sat by the side of the road with a dying cell phone and only the kindness of strangers for water for 8 hours. GEICO, my insurance company, was eventually able to arrange for my pick up and tow. Then there was the battle to get my travel expenses covered. I got about 50% of the $400+ it took to get me home. After complaining to AAA about the bad service - the only time I had needed them in 23 years - I was promised a free year. Endless phone calls promised the free year but the old membership expired in February and I am still waiting. So it was promise, promise, promise and lie, lie, lie.

I've had AAA vehicle insurance for several years. They seem to have excellent rates but that's about it. At one time, when my truck stalled in frigid weather, I tried to get help from them and couldn't even get through. I finally ended up with the local police department having a tow truck come out to get me out of the middle of a parking lot I was blocking.

Having had the above experience, I wasn't even going to renew the roadside assistance but was told by them that to keep my insurance I had to. $80 later I never did receive an updated card with a new account number--which I didn't even know I needed until yesterday. Yesterday, I called to have my vehicle towed to a repair shop. I've needed a new clutch for quite some time and, while sitting in my driveway, the battery in the truck totally died.

In the meantime the tags have expired. Calling AAA this time I come to find out that they WON'T tow your vehicle if your plates are current. As such, in addition to the $80 I paid for their worthless coverage, I had to pay $69 to a towing company to have my truck towed so I could get it fixed to get it inspected to then be able to get the updated plate tags.

I've never been impressed by their road service in the past and, in present, it really sucks too. I'm looking for new insurance, at least comparable to what I'm paying them though, admittedly, I may not be able to find it so there may be no other choice but to put up with their crappy service. Still, I opted to write this so anyone considering AAA will at least know what they are in for.

What would be so wrong to have an app like a Über app where tow companies bid for a tow job? This would lower prices and provide more efficient service. It would also allow members to monitor road progress made by the tow company. I rarely have breakdowns but when I do, AAA does very little to give me a good experience. And, might I add I have been a AAA member for over 25 years. A pathetic state of affairs!

She asked me my car color twice. And I am talking from inside a room in my apartment as slow and clearly as possible. How do you categorize this?

Does AAA hire cut-rate human beings with listening problems and pay them less? Coming to the process of making contact with these people - First thing is they make you read out your 16 digit membership number. How stupid is this? Imagine being parked on the side of a freeway in a force 8 wind, driving rain and traffic whizzing by. You have take your card out and in the dim light of your cab read out this 16 digit number for these idiots to find your record? Why can't they use the number you are calling from? How about your name? How about your address? I tried to tell this Molly this feedback and she started arguing with me. She actually told me that reading out a 16 digit number was not a problem. I told her to tell her Manager to give me a call back at the earliest and hung up.

My car battery had died due to the extreme cold temperatures, and so I called AAA to get a battery technician to come out to jump start and check it to make sure that the battery was still good. I called and placed my service request at 3:18 PM on Sunday February 22nd. The lady I spoke with informed me that the tech may be out by 6:18 PM but possibly sooner. When 7 pm rolled around, I called AAA and the lady I spoke with said that she couldn't guarantee what time anyone would be out. Around 9:30 pm I get a call saying that someone may not be out until midnight, but then around 1130 pm I get a call back saying that no one would be out that night and that they can come first thing in the morning.

Well, with how "reliable" AAA has been I made plans to get to work the next morning, and told the girl that I need someone to come after 5, and so we set it for 6 pm on the 23rd. Called back the next day to re-schedule for 5:30, and she said that she couldn't make any guarantees but she would mark it. When no one had come by 7 pm I just had another person jump it, they had a truck, and I drove to Advanced Auto Parts to check the battery. I then tried calling to cancel the battery tech, since my car was now operational, but after waiting on hold for over an hour I hung up.

Then they called on 2/24 around 10 am to say that a tech was there and to meet them. The one time I could actually answer the call, it was a voice automated call, so how was I supposed to tell them that I am fine now, and to send the tech on his/her way? Then one voicemail that I was able to listen to later, a girl from AAA said that the tech had waited 20 minutes and would need to leave. Just unbelievable service from them. Maybe if wait times to cancel an appointment didn't take over an hour, that tech could have gone to someone else for help. Maybe if your online system to check your road side service actually showed my incident this could have been resolved sooner. Thanks for making me feel like a valued member. This incident happened Easter, 2012. I had signed up for AAA several months earlier after accidentally locking my keys in my car at a Target store. A friend had picked up my second set of keys at my house & brought them to me. She was annoyed and insisted I sign up for AAA so it would not happen again. Soooo - I signed up! I requested to be the primary, with NO secondary, as my husband was usually out of town on business & drove rental cars to get to & from the airport.

I had no reason to call for help until Easter 2012 when my 80+ year old mother thought she had locked both her keys & her wallet in her car, parked at my daughter's house (we were there for Easter dinner). I called AAA to send someone to come & unlock the car. I gave them my membership number, and was told 'Sorry, you are not the Primary, & we must speak to the primary." I explained that I WAS the primary and there was no secondary. They argued with me, saying my husband was the primary. We went round & round about this, with my explaining (again) why I did NOT put my husband's name on the policy (& yes, he was out of town, even on Easter).

My mother then said "Wait, I am also a triple A customer!" The only problem was she did not have her policy # because it was in her wallet (locked in the car)! I asked why they couldn't look up her number? They gave a lame excuse (I think they said they could not look up the number because my Mother lived in Indiana, whereas we were calling from a house in Illinois). WHAT??? AAA only helps you out if your car breaks down or you lose your keys while in your home state??!! We gave up & found someone on our own to unlock the car & retrieve the wallet & keys.

The following week, I tried to cancel my policy, explaining what had happened. They said they could not cancel the policy because it was paid up for the year. I requested that I be put on as the primary, but they said they could only add me as the secondary, but would correct the error when the policy was renewed. When I received the bill for renewal a few months later, guess what? The policy was still in my husband's name ONLY!! I cancelled and told them to stop sending me their promotions. Guess what I received in the mail yesterday - another AAA promotion!! It went straight to the garbage can. I apologize that I do not have an exact date or order number, as this occurred Easter Sunday, 2012.

I have been waiting for 5 1/2 hours and they are not here yet. I will not renew with them. I'll try a different road service. No one can be this incompetent. I had to walk to get my other car so I wouldn't freeze to death. It took me 45 min walk. What ** and the girl on customer service told me her goal was to pronounce my name right. I told her she can call me ** and a better goal is to get a tow truck here. If I knew I wittily of called my own tow. Now it's 2 am and my own tow is going to take another two hours.. They suck.

Called at 8:09 pm - dead car, no lights nothing. Told tow would arrive 1-1/2 hour… 10:15pm told they are around the corner 15 more minutes...arrived after midnight!! While my car sat in the middle of the street in downtown Miami and I was alone on the side of the road b/c I didn't want to wait in my car in case it was hit! 3-4 tow trucks passed by, 2 cops passed by...nothing! When a tow truck did arrive he told me no one wanted to take the call b/c they had to tow me home to Islamorada...they finally drew straws to find the loser! I thought AAA was a reputable agency...boy was I wrong! $280 later I'm still fuming, called to complain, they told me I would get a free renewal next year...OH BOY! I'M SO EXCITED!! Pathetic company!

AAA installed a battery for me 3 years and 2 months ago, and told me there was a 6 year warranty. Well, my car would not start 2-3 times a year since and every mechanic just said that the battery seemed to be charging correctly. In the last two weeks my car would not start 3 times. Last night I could not find someone to jump in for me and I had to wait 4 hours for AAA in zero degree weather. Luckily I had a wool blanket in my car, I literally thought I might die. I finally brought it to a mechanic who knows something, and said they installed a battery for a V4 engine, while I have a V6 engine - bingo! AAA is refusing to honor the warranty, states it is actually a 3 year warranty and it is irrelevant that they clearly installed the incorrect product. The service agents were not only unhelpful and gave me conflicting information, but were blatantly rude.

I was driving to my home on a curvy driveway. The front left wheel of my car got too close to the snow bank on the left side of the driveway and I was pulled into a ditch. My son in law tried to get me out but only got in deeper, so I called AAA for help to get me out of the ditch. At 10:30 at night I thought I would get some assistance. I have the most expensive AAA card so I should get very good service.

I got a phone call after I reported the accident. NO ONE WAS AVAILABLE TO GET ME OUT OF THE DITCH UNTIL THE NEXT DAY! Why, because I was near my home and would not be sitting in my car all night? WHY I could not have my car towed the next day because I was going to a cancer specialist 4 1/2 hours away from my home and I would not be at home to sign for the service. This sucks so BIG TIME. Someone offered to let me borrow their car for the trip from New York State to Boston so I could see Cancer specialists. I WILL DEFINITELY FIND ANOTHER ROAD SERVICE ORGANIZATION - meanwhile my car still sits in the snow filled ditch!!!

After being on hold for 20 minutes, someone was going to be dispatched to my home to replace my car battery. The four hour window I was given passed and no phone call and no one arrived at my home. I called again and was told a message was sent to the dispatcher and they would call me back. No one called. I called back and was told it could be another two hours and that the four hour window is just an estimate. They could care less that I had a meeting to get to or the fact that my family has been a member for 32 years. I am still waiting for someone to show up, seven hours later. I will be canceling my portion of the AAA membership after this and hopefully the rest of my family will as well. Totally unacceptable, I now missed out on a day's pay.
