Life Alert was founded in 1987, making it one of the first personal emergency response companies in the United States. The company’s systems have a base hub and a help button that can be worn around the neck on a pendant or wristband. Life Alert advertises that its pendants have a 10-year battery life and don't require charging. Monitoring centers are UL-certified and have the Five Diamond designation from The Monitoring Association.

    My mother had Life Alert come in and talk to us about her getting their service. They left a contract and started the service. She wound up unfortunately going into the hospital. I was away on my honeymoon and I'm her only sibling. I returned home and they had already left a dozen messages. I talked to them and explained that she was in hospital on my cell phone. As I hung up they called her cell phone the second after. This went on at least 5 times a day - my house phone, cell phone, her cell phone in the hospital. We received over 150 harassing calls from them over her sending them back their contract. AT 1 POINT I GOT INTO A HEATED ARGUMENT WITH THEM AFTER THEY CALLED MY HOUSE 5 TIMES IN A ROW IN LESS THAN 2 MINUTES. They are despicable.

    I'm now gonna see about citing a complaint against them for harassment. The one man who I had the argument with (this after as I said over a hundred and fifty calls) over 50 from him alone I'll never forget his voice. HE demanded me to tell him when in his words would she be home from hospital. DEMANDED ME TO TELL HIM WHEN, THE NERVE. BEWARE.

    When someone inquires and then purchases our services it is because they have a need for us, such as your mother. Life Alert takes the responsibility of saving lives very seriously, and in the past family members had forgotten to send our agreement back to us -- thusly leaving their elderly loved one unprotected.

    We are sorry you feel that our daily reminder to send back the agreement was inappropriate but we hope that you will understand that 1) at first we were not notified that your mother was in the hospital; 2) we set up our expensive equipment ahead of time – in good faith that either your mother or a family member will send us the signed agreement, in which no one did.

    Although your claim of over 150 calls sounds questionable, we would like to look into this. All of our calls are logged electronically in our customer’s files, so please contact us privately at wecare@lifealert.com with your mother’s name and phone number so that we can retrieve her account and investigate this matter.
