We arranged and set up Life Alert in our mother’s home. She was resistant but agreed to the monitor base in her home and the lanyard to wear, but she declined to use the help phone and told the salesman she didn’t want it. So it wasn’t sent to her. After my mom's passing, we called to cancel her account but and despite us reminding them my mother never received the help phone. They told us we still were responsible for the cost of the phone. No matter who we talked to, leaving unanswered messages with the original salesman, we were never listened to and they insist we pay for equipment we never received. Their retention department was so rude even after telling them our mom had just passed. We would never recommend this company to anyone!
We are very sorry to hear the passing of Joseph of Collegeville’s mother. We understand how difficult of a time end-of-life matters can be for family members. We have thoroughly investigated this concern and have concluded that our customer did received all of the equipment that was ordered. We have electronic data verifying that a test of the Help Phone was made at the home of the customer, by the customer and her daughter several times, and that the signed agreement indicates the equipment was delivered.
After reviewing the audio recordings, it is concluded that everyone that Joseph of Collegeville spoke with at Life Alert were understanding and sympatric to his loss, including the salesman that he was transferred to. Our retention department is specially trained to handle sensitive situations, such as this. Unfortunately, as we were trying to help him, Joseph of Collegeville very clearly cussed at us and hung up. Currently, we are standing by to complete the cancellation process.

I have been trying to cancel my 93 year old mother's account and NO ONE will do it. It only took 10 minutes to sign up for it! You call and the salesperson said he can't do it. You call the number he says to call and they put you on hold forever and then it goes to someone's voicemail and then they do not call back. They have charged my mother's account the higher amount that she DID NOT agree to. Now they will not call me back or allow me to talk to anyone. It's been 3 days now trying to cancel. All they do is give you “THE RUN AROUND”. Oh, they are good at that.
We apologize to Gail of Harbor Springs, for having her wait on hold. We have escalated this complaint to the manager of the department for quality assurance. When talking to Gail of Harbor Springs, we did try to assist her the best that we could. We did not prevent her from talking to anyone, nor did we give her the run-around. We accommodated her requests. We appreciate her bringing these concerns to our attention as we are always open to feedback so we can improve our customer service.

I had received three booster shots for the flu, pneumonia and diphtheria (in error by a pharmacist). I should only have had the flu shot. However, I awoke in the night with severe vomiting and the room was spinning like a 100 mph. My left arm was red hot, with a black line going down my arm as well as being swollen. I had no option but to contact Life Alert due to the severe reaction.

Out came the needle, and one washed the finger and put on a band aid. It’s been a few weeks now. P.S. I went right back to sewing and sowed for several hours.

I enrolled my mom in life alert because it seem so easy. Now when I want to try to add a second password for mom's employees I can't because they need permission from mom but I did everything. My mother has IDD which stands for mentally retarded. How in the hell is she suppose to get in the phone and answer questions?
All of our calls are recorded for quality assurance, so we were able to investigate this complaint fully. The complainant called us in July wanting to have a separate emergency code word for her mother’s health care providers while keeping the emergency original code word private for family only. Although this is not within our protocol, we were willing to make an exception to assist her. We told her she needed to send us a letter requesting that we add a second password, along with the new password for her mother’s health care providers to use in case of an emergency. Complainant said she would send us the letter. Unfortunately, she did not. Instead, she called us in October and was rude and angry that we have not created a second password. We reminded her that we needed a letter from her. She yelled at us to just send her paper work and hung up.
We at Life Alert try our best to accommodate our customers and their families as we understand family situations differ. We are still waiting for the complaint to send us a written notice with the a second password.
