Life Alert was founded in 1987, making it one of the first personal emergency response companies in the United States. The company’s systems have a base hub and a help button that can be worn around the neck on a pendant or wristband. Life Alert advertises that its pendants have a 10-year battery life and don't require charging. Monitoring centers are UL-certified and have the Five Diamond designation from The Monitoring Association.

    After a fall, I pushed the button for Life Alert and was immediately answered by Life Alert. Within minutes, paramedics came, opened the lock box and took the key to open the door. They were very professional, took me to the emergency room -- 10 minutes away -- then into the large hospital. All the time, I was on the phone with the Life Alert representative who kept talking to me until paramedics arrived.

    I was so thankful for Life Alert. I can’t say enough about it. About 5:00 in the morning, I had to get up to go to the bathroom. I tried three times to get up, but that’s how much further I got. I was dizzy really bad. I was helpless. My glasses were in the bathroom. The phone was in the kitchen and I couldn’t call anyone. I got the Life Alert necklace in my hand that was the first time I used it. I was so thankful I had it. I can’t say enough about the people who came. Thank you.

    I am so glad we have Life Alert. My mom fell in the kitchen and was unable to get up from the floor. She pressed the Life Alert button and got through in seconds.     My mother fell going to the bathroom and hit her head on the end of the TV table, resulting in a scalp laceration. She bled a lot and pressed her Life Alert wrist button and EMTs came quickly and took her to the emergency hospital. She returned home that day and 24 hours later, had shortness of breath and confusion. Life Alert again contacted EMTs and notified me (the daughter). Turns out she has congestive heart failure.     I had started to bed, rolled my walker to the refrigerator to get ice pack from freezer with walker between me and the wall.     I’m active and fall a lot so I am wearing Life Alert at home! I live alone (widow). I have had Life Alert for about 8 years or more! A Christmas gift from my son. I have been telling all elderly friends and relatives how I have been helped. Last Life Alert call--I was taken to the hospital. I was really sick; everything happened to me. I had food poisoning.
