I was out of town for over a month and my Ambit bill was twice as much as it was with previous electric company. When I called to have the meter read, I couldn't reach anyone for 4 hours. When I finally reached someone, I requested my meter be read not just estimated. When I was waiting for them to contact me regarding the actual reading of the meter, they disconnected me. Then they wanted to charge me fees for disconnect, reconnect and lots of other stuff. What is the worst is that I requested to get out of my contact and there were high fees associated with that as well. My bill has continued to be significantly higher with Ambit than my previous electric company. Even though Ambit's rate is supposed to be less.

I contacted Ambit regarding a disconnect notice for defaulting a payment arrangement. I spoke with a rep and he just kept repeating himself by his script that he reads, telling me I need to pay 571.00 or they will disconnect my service. I told him that I cannot afford that. I can pay the 155 that they say I defaulted and make the remaining 416 in two payments. Rep said they could not do that. I asked to speak to a sup that after a 30 min conversation told me that I need to learn how to sacrifice and do without so that I can pay my electric on time. I have never in my life had someone make me so mad. I am 36 and am raising 4 kids with no government assistance. I do sacrifice every day for my kids to have a good life. I work very hard and do my best with what I earn. I have always paid my bill even if it has to be paid past the due date or arrangements need to be made. One time there is a miscommunication between myself and the company, and now they are refusing to help and my electricity will be disconnected on 09-06-2013.
I know at my job if I told someone that, I just might not have a job anymore. But who does this woman think she is, trying to judge me, not knowing any part of my life. If she only knew me as a real person and not an account that pays their check so that she can survive, she would watch the words that leave her mouth. What comes around goes around, and when you treat people like this, you lose customers and eventually, you have no customers to have a business. Not everyone has money and not everyone has everything in their life perfect, like I am assuming she does since she made a judgement on me. But at least I am not trying to judge people I don't know.

I just received my first bill. I had asked before I signed up if there would be a distribution fee through Penelec or Ambit. I was told it would be billed through Penelec but no distribution fee. They lied! I am being billed a distribution fee that doubles my bill. I think this company is fraudulent and should be stopped.

I have had Ambit for over 4 years and I was moving, so I called to move my service to my new place. Called several days in a row and was put on hold multiple times for long periods of time. Then when I finally got through, I was told there was an extra fee for getting it done 2 days later and there was nothing I could do about it because I should have taken care of it earlier. No doubt I am switching providers after this.

They disconnected me without warning and then doubled my rate after reconnecting my service. I made my payment on time and because of a clerical mistake on their part, they said they did not receive it on time. My bill went from around $170 a month to over $300. The customer service representative refused to help, even to keep my business. Do not trust this company. They will take advantage of you and do it just as the summer starts.

This is the second month where the payment was made and not posted. I have spoken to Jalase **, Juan Carlos **, Juan **, Albert ** (no ID number) and Dannie **. No one was any help. What is wrong with your people? Do you know what customer service is about? This is a shame. Your people can’t do something as simple as take a payment. No one will do anything, and now I hear people in the background laughing. Is this the way you run your business? It’s a sad day when a company can keep up with your third party collectors.

Leslie ** (a consultant of Ambit Energy) from Sacramento, CA told me about an opportunity to make money. She said I wouldn't have to do sales. All I would have to do was to help people save money. She showed me her bonus and residual checks. She told me that Ambit had an upcoming seminar at a hotel off Arden Way in Sacramento. She asked me to attend the seminar. She never mentioned any fees before we went to the presentation so I agreed to go with her.
At the presentation, the guy said that if you want to be a consultant, you have to do it now. Don't go home and think about it because if you think about it, then you will miss the opportunity to make lots of money. At the end of the presentation, an Ambit representative helped me sign up to be a consultant on a laptop right there in the hotel lobby. During the registration process, I told Leslie that I still didn't get the concept and I wanted to go home and think about it. She got mad at me. She said, "Don't go home and think about it because other people will make the money if I wait." I reluctantly gave the Ambit representative all of my personal information including SSN, date of birth, address, phone and credit card number. Ambit immediately charged me $458.16.
I came home and did some research. I googled the company and asked my friends and family. A week later I found out that the company is a fraud. They have numerous complaints from customers and consultants. They have defrauded the public. People like Leslie ** use Ambit Energy to defraud their acquaintances. I called the company and asked for a refund. They said that it's been three days so I can't get my money back anymore. It's a pyramid scheme. Some of my $458.16 went to Leslie ** that's why she kept pushing me into signing up for Ambit Energy right away. She didn't give me a chance to think it through.
In order for me to get $458.16 back, I have to recruit more consultants and solicit new customers so the company can scam more people. I refuse to do this. I'm a single mom. I have a mortgage to pay and a little girl to support. I never get any child support from my daughter's father because he doesn't claim his income, so he doesn't have to pay child support. My younger brother is in college. My parents are unemployed and disabled.
I thought Leslie was my friend and could help me make some extra money. She promised me that I could make lots of money by working for Ambit as a consultant. She said that many quit their full-time job just to work for Ambit. Now I realize that she has lied and scammed me. All I want is a refund of $458.16. They won't pay me so I want everyone to know that Ambit Energy based in Plano, TX is a fraud. Leslie ** from Sacramento, CA is a scammer.

When I first appointed with Ambit, I was very happy besides the fact that they won't change the due date or that the due date is different every single month. Nonetheless, I renewed my contract and explained to me how in the world my electric bill went from $135 a month to $240 a month. I tried calling for explanation and they told me that it wasn't their fault, that it was TXU's. They had increased their price. After several attempts, I have no choice but to stay with them until my contact expires to save fees. I have told all my friends about them and not to renew their contract with them. They may be stealing my money but they will be losing a whole lot more. I am just so disgusted with how they do business.

No stranger to MLM's, I currently am experiencing nominal success in a weight loss MLM at the moment. I attended an Ambit meeting one Thursday to mutually support a friend of a friend who gave her sob story about how they only needed x amount more people to reach their rank. I shared the same goals with the weight loss company I'm in and it was an "I scratch your back, you scratch mine" type deal. I'm a woman of my word always! I don't make promises that I can't keep! I was told by the Ambit consultant, Kimberly **, and those at the meeting that everyone will pitch in to help me be successful and it's a team effort, no "I" in team, the whole spiel. When she and her husband came by my home to sign me up, I expressed hesitation after finding out how much it would be to sign up and explained that I am on a limited income and that I wasn't really able to pay that initial almost $500 fee to sign up and for the website. I explained that I have no spouse, lover, friends or family to fall back on if ever in a financial crisis so I declined several times based on things that I had going on in my life that required money that actually exceeded my monthly income.
Immediately, I was promised my entire investment back as soon as I sign up in the form of my sponsors placing people under me that would trigger bonus and money in turn getting me my entire investment back which I thought would really set me up to be able to learn the business and bring people in. Kim and her husband together worked on me promising me that everything will be okay and they would never do that to anyone and they help their people. They've slid people from under them to help out people they've signed up and all of the other barrel of lies I was fed. I signed up on April 15, 2013 and by April 30th, I began complaining because I was told by my sponsors, Rob and Kimberly **, to go ask this person which was our mutual friend, knowing that the mutual friend didn't want to sign up for her own reasons in her personal life which I found out later.
I am writing this review after having complained to the sponsors, one of the head honchos, a few consultants, and my bank. After realizing I won't be getting my money back as promised, I'd best find people in hopes of getting something back in return. They encourage making a list of everyone you know and I did that and went through it. After what's said and done, only three people agreed to help me, however, all had deposits to pay which I was also told that there are no deposits with Ambit (but that's just for consultants switching). Needless to say, they already have electricity so why pay a deposit to switch, right? Back to square one. I recontacted the sponsors and asked them if they would please keep their word and at least help me get my money back as they promised me over and over. Instead, they complained to one of the head honchos and told them that I said to never call me unless they had money for me.
Acting innocent like I'm the culprit in all of this, they only told him half of what was said and why it was said. I was told by the head honcho that he's never had problems out of them which made me believe that if I read between the lines that I was the problem and not them. I realize that work has to be put in everything that we do. My problem is why would you deliberately lie and cheat someone to get to your goals knowing you're not going to deliver what you're promising? That's dead wrong and I'll keep being the person I am and let God avenge them for flat out lying to me which put me in a financial bind because I trusted! I have learned my final lesson on trusting people. I'm honest and never lie to people to get them to do things or promise people things and not deliver. Not everyone is like me. Lesson learned!

I was pitched this idea from one of my co-workers and, like a sucker, I signed up to learn more about it. Bad move! I unknowingly signed up for service. I was told before anything was going to be done to switch my energy company, I would get a call from a third party. I did not, and I'm having my power turned on in an apartment I'm not even currently in. This account was set up for a new move-in. Also, he set me up for a 05/04/13 hook up, when I'm not even moving into my new apartment until 06/15/13 (which he knew!). When I called customer service, they said they can't guarantee me that I won't be charged for this service that I'm not getting. I will never deal with this company again. I strongly advise anyone else from doing it either. Don't sign up for this pyramid scheme of a company.

Our home has solar and we're billed through JCP&L. With solar, the meter has two readings. One is kilowatt hours (kwh) used and kwh out, which is energy created by solar and being solar back to JCP&L. We get billed for the difference from JCP&L. We switched our electricity generation portion of the bill to Ambit some time ago due to the pricing they offered and promise of exemplary customer service. This doesn't seem to be true by any means. Since January, Ambit has not only been charging me for the electricity I've been consuming (which is correct), but also for the electricity that I've been creating with solar. So I'm creating my own power and Ambit is charging me for it!
I've started my conversations with Ambit on 3/6 and was told someone would call me back. That didn't happen, so I called back on 3/8 and spoke with Claudia. I explained all the credits due and she indicated it would take up to 5 days for billing to make corrections. She told me someone would call back on the 13th. That didn't happen, so I spoke to Nick on 3/15 to learn that nothing has been issued yet. I called back again on 3/22 and nothing was issued yet. I called back again on 3/26 and they indicated that a credit for the previous months of $44.99 was submitted to JCP&L and would show up on my April bill.
The beginning of April, I received my JCP&L bill and lo and behold, the credit was not applied. But worse is they did the same billing error again! For this bill, I used 478 kwh of power from the grid, but created 504 kwh of electricity by solar. I actually made more energy than I used and JCP&L gave me a credit to roll over to next month. However, Ambit billed me not only for the 478 kwh used, but also the 504 kwh I created! So now I have a $100 bill when it should be $0 that I have to pay; otherwise, my account goes into default. I spoke to Ambit on 4/5 and indicated that I haven't seen the credit from last month yet and the new billing error. They submitted this to billing and said there should be an answer in 5 days.
As of today, 4/13, this still has not been corrected! Now I'm forced to pay a bill that I shouldn't need to since I got solar. I asked to speak to someone in billing, but they don't take phone calls. I asked for a letter from Ambit stating that a credit is due (at least for the $44.99 that they approved), but they won't do that. I asked if I can do a conference call with JCP&L to tell them about the credit, but that's not possible. They said all I can do is wait for billing to correct the issue and couldn't give me any time frame since they've already exceeded the 3-5 days. In addition, they cancelled my account so I don't even have any guarantee that I'll see a credit come through. Don't know why Ambit doesn't know the difference between addition and subtraction!

They are not accommodating to their customers at all. They will not change due dates due to Oncor's meter reading (but TXU does and Oncor reads their meters). Customer bills increase from bill to bill. They butter their consultants up leaving them to their dreams. It's a pyramid scam for consultants. Beware! IT's just all around trash! I told him there was no way because it sounded like a scam, but I noticed on our electric bill that there's something called a generation charge that is getting carried forward from every bill. My roommate and I have had problems paying our electric. I've noticed the bill going higher and higher over time. Please stay away from this company. When I contacted JCPNL, I was told that nothing exists. Ambit also refuses to provide me any proof that they have sent any communication to JCPNL. I heard about Ambit from a mentee who joined Ambit as a consultant and asked for feedback. I have surfed the web a bit and based on customer reviews and consultant responses, I see all the signs of the old pyramid/network marketing business structure, with energy as the end product. It's not a "scam" in that there is a real service provided in exchange for money. But clearly, customer service is poor, and Ambit leadership really needs to invest in customer relations training with new consultants, who have clearly been motivated and equipped with info to defend Ambit, but many of whom have no understanding of the proper methods for handling customer complaints (and are therefore destroying the company's chances of maintaining a good name).
I don't mind paying extra for excellent customer service (fair treatment, respect, ability to access a rep when needed, saved time, no extra stress/headaches in my life, etc.) and will continue with my current provider, where I've never experienced any of the issues presented in the customer complaints that I have read about Ambit.
I tried out a few of these types of ventures in my past and have the following advice for my mentee and others: Proceed with caution and perspective. Avoid ventures that promise lots of money for little work in the name of being your own boss - especially if a significant part of your success/money is contingent upon getting more people to join as consultants vs. customers. You will generally lose friendships and credibility through these endeavors. Money will come, but let it come for the right reasons. There are no short cuts. Work hard, and seek to improve your professional skills daily, so when an authentic opportunity for advancement comes along, you will be ready - a real contender and not a pretender.

For the past several months, I have received my Ambit bill with a total amount due of $0. You read that right! Zero! It goes even further to state the amount due if paid after due date: $0! So tell me why I get a disconnect notice after I pay them zero? This has happened three times! The first time I paid zero and got a disconnect notice for over $300.00! Okay, I hurried and paid that to keep my lights on. The next month, I got another bill with the amount due as zero again! I paid $300.00 anyway, and guess what? This month (December 2012), I got another Ambit bill with zero as the amount due.

As soon as I made that payment, I called to see if they could look up that the payment was in fact made, which is something I have had no problem with other big electric providers. Well, they said no. Now, here it is Monday and my payment is not in their system and they are putting a disconnect on my account. I have been a loyal customer for 12 months and I'm up for contract renewal. When I called, no one cared. I told this to the supervisor I spoke to who basically made it seem as if I was in the wrong for going to that authorized payment center in which I paid extra for fast delivery. What a great way to spend my New Year in the dark with two small children. They don't care about their customers. I will be switching providers asap and blogging about this experience. I signed up and paid $100 for a pre-paid service on December 19, 2012, offered through Ambit's website only to find out on Friday, December 21, 2012, that I have no lights because the pre-paid plan that Ambit offered online, was no longer offered. I arrived home around 9pm to find I have no electricity, so of course at this time everything was closed and therefore, I had to wait to call in Saturday. Each and every representative seemed to not care that I would be without lights through the Christmas holidays due to an error on their behalf. I had to throw away almost $300 worth of food and spent the Christmas holidays in the dark and a freezing cold apartment with my 7-year-old. Last night December 25, 2012 was the coldest night and we slept in layers of coats to try and keep warm.
I am very disappointed that Ambit showed no care in the world for a mistake they made, not me! I have no money to replace what little food I had and had the worst Christmas in the dark with my 7-year old. On Saturday, when I spoke with a rep, she informed me that I can order priority service and I said, "That is what I want," and she told me I would see a $36.00 additional fee on my first bill and that the earliest someone would come out to connect my service would be December 26, 2012. I called in this morning December 26, 2012 to confirm my priority service and spoke to another rep, who could care less about my situation. This rep by the name of Myisha, could not even confirm that the priority service was scheduled for today. I asked Myisha to please let me speak to a manager.
I was transferred to an escalation person by the name of Jennifer, who also showed no care in the world and proceeded to tell me that I signed up on Saturday therefore nothing could have been done. I proceeded to tell her, “No, I signed online December 19 through your website for a plan that you apparently don't offer.” Jennifer then proceeded to insinuate that it was my fault because I should have known that if I did not receive a text confirming the service, that it should have told me the service was not completed. I informed her that those plans should not even be on their website to avoid someone going through such a horrible Christmas in the dark with a 7-year-old with no food, no money, and most importantly, I have no family to run to for help and therefore ate what little non-perishable food I had in the dark and in a cold apartment.
I am a very sad, angry, disappointed, and an unsatisfied customer. This horrible and cold Christmas holiday can never be taken back for my 7-year-old. I am a single mother and now I have no food in my apartment and no money to replace the almost $300 worth of food that was thrown away and will not have any money to buy food till I get paid next week January 4, 2013. I will never recommend Ambit Energy to anyone, ever! Their customer service representatives could care less and apparently their corporate office, too!

For all of you wondering if Ambit Energy is a scam, it's not a scam. What I will tell you is if you sign up as a consultant and sign up customers, beware. Their customer service department is terrible. Ambit hasn't sent my supply bill to National Grid for the past 5 months. I've called Ambit at least 15 times and get the same answer “We know about the problem and are working to fix it.” To this day, they still can't tell me why this happened or when it will be fixed. If I was the type of person that didn't read his bill, when they do fix the problem, I would have a 5 month supply bill in one shot.
So what I’ve been doing is sending in my regular budget amount so that doesn't happen. Mind you, I’m a consultant working for the company and I still can't get it fixed. So my point is, if you sign up as a consultant and sign other people up, be prepared to get angry phone calls from your customers when there is an issue. It's obvious that they can't handle problems when they arise and your customers will expect you to fix them. Believe me it's not worth the aggravation. I would sign up with another supply company with good customer relations reviews.

I signed up for Ambit Energy after a family member suggested it over a year ago. There was no significant difference in my energy bill from Con Edison (maybe $2-$5 savings). My bills averaged $70-$80 and during the summer, usually spiked to $120-$150 because of the air conditioners. I just received a bill for September for $485 (for 1 month service). This is after the ACs have been unplugged (because in NYC there was no need for air conditioners since the last 2 weeks of August).
I called Con Edison and they could not figure out why the bill was so high, either. According to Ambit, since April, I was placed on a "variable plan", which causes percentage rates to fluctuate. I never received any notices from Ambit informing me about the impending changes and they too cannot inform me of why the bill was so high for 1 month. I've been reading up on them now and see them for the scam artists that they are. Needless to say, I requested that I be released from the Ambit Energy plan and was told that it could take up to 45 days. This was truly a horrible experience.

I called Ambit to find out why they missed submitting their bill to NYSEG. They offered no excuse and only stated they were sorry. That's it. No offer to compensate for their error. So, I cancelled their service and will go with my local energy supplier. Buyer beware. Look at your energy bill and make sure Ambit is billing on a monthly basis if you choose to sign with this company. Otherwise, you can get stuck with 2 or 3 months worth of bills in 1 month.

I have been an Ambit customer for over a year. I am in my second 12-month "contract". I pay my bill every month. I use a credit card every month when I pay my bill. One month, I put in the wrong amount, It was $15.00 (that’s fifteen) off by my mistake when I typed in the amount and a few days later, I had no electricity. No call, nothing and when I called to reconnect, they refused to issue a "priority" reconnect, saying they couldn't do that, the "system" wouldn't allow them to. But all along, Oncor was telling me they get them all the time from other companies. Also, I was charged $80.00 for a reconnect fee. I understand if I had not paid or maybe paid $100 less or something like that, but $15 and I'm a good customer and it was an obvious mistake. Looks like someone could give you a little customer courtesy!
Then I noticed that instead of the monthly rate I had signed up for, the amount had doubled to $17.9, the reason I had received too many late notices that give you a cutoff date. So the "system" automatically takes you off of your contract rate (if I stopped paying or left the company they wouldn't let me just change terms) and put you to the big rate and I have to go six months without having a late bill generated to get back to the good rate and this is done by the "system" and cannot be changed by a human! Well, I'm a teacher and my husband sells cars, we have to juggle our funds sometime and sometimes I have to pay at the end of the month, other times the middle of the month, but we never had to call and make arrangements every month or not pay and get cut off every other month.
The customer service reps sound like "Stepford people"; reading a script and no effort to fix problems that are obviously really wrong. It’s all just the "system", sounds like Skynet is about to take over! And the "reward" items you get with your reward points are a joke. Nothing is a "reward", the trips to Mexico are for hotel only, you still have to buy your airfare and I can get cheaper all-inclusive trips than use their "reward" gifts! My last phone call was yesterday to Ambit. I will hopefully have a new provider today. Beware; this was the worst experience I have ever had regarding electric service providers!

I have been a member with Ambit for about 6 months now. When I first signed up, it was really easy for me to contact a direct person in charge of my account. Since then, I have had my power shut off twice after paying my bill. I have received monthly bills stating that the payment due was a fairly low price, only to find out that it was not the correct price and then end up sitting in the dark with my young daughter. Only after paying an outrageous amount over $100 was the service reconnected. I've made several attempts to contact a supervisor or manager only to be placed on hold for over an hour on one attempt and eventually disconnected. I do not understand how it was so easy for me to speak to the person in charge of my account when I was first rendering services. But now that I have various complaints, no one exists.

I moved into a house on February 1 of this year 2012. I chose Ambit Energy as my service provider and was told to pay a dep and that since there was already electricity at that address, they would automatically just transfer service without having to do anything else. On Monday, February 13th three AEP trucks with six men were at my house at 8 am saying that they were there to check the meter because apparently there were problems in that area. I put my dogs on their leashes and was about to tell them to come in when 3 of them were already crossing the fence so my husband came outside to ask them what they were doing and one of them said that they were removing the meter. Of course we got upset and asked them why they were doing that and they said because there was a "switch-hold" on the account, which I don’t even know what that is.
So I call Ambit to tell them what’s going on and they said that supposedly they had advised me that I needed to send them a copy of my lease and a form they had emailed me, which is totally false. If they would've told me, I would have sent it right away because I need my electricity. So apparently the tenants from before me owed another comp and therefore AEP put that damn hold which has nothing to do with us whatsoever and still we end up paying for all this. Now since those idiots removed the meter without checking if we were those people that had that hold, I need to pay for a permit and then call the service provider and have the reconnect order sent assuming the inspection passes. Not to mention I am disabled and have 3 children, which one of them is disabled too.
To top it all off my husband got injured at work with a broken ankle but of course AEP could care less about what situation you are in. Now all my groceries went bad and my computer might be damaged because of them turning off the power and taking the meter. It’s the middle of the week and we are staying at a hotel, suffering because of someone else’s matter. I think this is so wrong not to mention that everyone that answers there at AEP, including supervisors, are very unprofessional and very rude. Someone needs to do something about this.

Ever since I lived here my energy bill has doubled. I have a two-bedroom apartment. Only 2 adults live here with two different schedules. There is no reason where my bill went from $80 to $150 to $371 to $300. I called customer service regarding this issue. They show no sympathy. They tell me where I can track my meter. I even asked for someone to reread my meter and never got a response. This is just awful. This is my first and last time using or referring their services.

Ambit Energy is a scam. With the economy that we are in you would think that people wouldn’t be so greedy because they have the ability to do so. My mother is a disappointing member of this light company, and after paying an outrageous deposit fee, they send her bills back to back every two weeks and has cut her lights off twice in one month after she’s already paid her bill. This has to stop. They are heartless individuals and use their power to misuse and mistreat people. This will not be my last complaint. I plan on writing everyone until I speak to the head person in charge to either get results or get a reimbursement of what is owed to her. I will continue and further my voice through the news station as well as including Oncor as well. This is just the beginning.

First off, I am not an Ambit customer yet. I am planning to switch from TXU to another energy company due to many reasons. However, I am quite reluctant to switch to Ambit seeing how unprofessional the representatives are here on this forum. Actually, I am in complete awe and shock of this! I have not found any other energy company on here that actually has reps bashing their unsatisfied customers. Calling them "Liars and Special." This is above and beyond unprofessional and shows how the company's employees would go to high lengths to insult and berate a customer. I would imagine somewhere in their employment contract this is unacceptable which leads to another point. The representatives would break their own by-laws by "abusing" customers online which is against the company's code of ethics. They certainly wouldn't hesitate to mislead or abuse a customer concern if a customer called it in.
Due to the lack of unprofessionalism by Ambit's reps on here, I will not be selecting Ambit. Just so you are also aware, my neighbor whom I am extremely close to has had multiple issues with Ambit's billing and sudden price changes without notice. Ambit also does have contracts so the reps below that indicated they do not are incorrect. It even lists contracts on their website (6 month, 12 month and 24th month termed plan). If you switch or discontinue service per Ambit customer care, you will be charged a fee. This, my friends, is called a contract!
Honestly, if I owned Ambit, I would be ashamed to have employees like you that would actually have the gull to debate online about complaints instead of encourage and try to help unsatisfied customers. No wonder why this company isn't very big. Reps like you shut companies down!

In response to Matt of Springville, NY, I have tried for many months to resolve this issue; sometimes I get paid, most of the time not. For example, I was not paid in October. I called and was told by CS that I would get a call back. Nothing. Now, this month December (yes, I know that it is for the previous month), the website says I will get paid for November. I have dealt with this issue for over a year now. I am waiting to see if the company will pay the 1% guarantee, or if that is a scam, too. Thanks for your input, but I do think you are at best misinformed or worst refusing to see the truth.

I love these blogs. Really, there’s no credibility displayed in these reviews. The only way they help in lending credence is if your family sees that you wrote in. They would know if we were telling the truth. They would have seen your bills before and after.
Folks, the complaints come from the competition. They can't compete with Ambit. Some of the competition is good and honest, but some truly ripe you off. You've already heard from some of the company reps and customers. Does Ambit make mistakes? Show me a company that doesn't. But Ambit truly goes to great lengths to make them right. In the book of James it says "To be patient because God isn't finished with me yet." This applies to all who switch to any ESCO. Ambit will get things right for their customers. It clearly states that in their agreement with the customer. This is what it states: “After 12 months’ worth of service from Ambit, they mail you a report showing how much you saved.” Here's the key point: after 12 months. So be patient. It takes time for Ambit to be the best. NYSEG, National Grid, National Fuel, and RG&E don't mail you a refund and back the savings with a guarantee to always be less than themselves, but Ambit does.
Why pay more for your energy when Ambit guarantees savings. Do you pay more for your gasoline? Come on folks. Ambit represents good old fashion values, the best one being the integrity that the company was founded on. Nobody likes telemarketers calling them anyway. That’s why we ask our families and our friends to try our world class energy services. And that's why Ambit is the number one most switched to company in NY state. That's got to tell you something folks.
As for Peter from Hannibal, NY, in order to get the free energy credit every month, you have to have paid each bill twice, and then on month 3 you will start receiving free energy. Now depending on who your incumbent provider is, it may take you longer to get energized with us. The incumbent moves slow sometimes when it comes to losing a customer. There are lots of variables with energy today. Exercise patience; you will reap the benefits that Ambit offers.

To all Ambit reps., I understand your position on defending this scam but myself and many of my friends have been introduced to the Ambit scam. Not only are the rates much higher, there's an unconscionable $250 fee to return your service to NYSEG. If this was such a great deal, why worry about people wanting to leave? And as far as I know, no other company does this. Peddling this scam to your relatives and friends will get you fewer invites to their social functions and please Ambit reps, leave our elderly alone. They have enough problems already.

To all those who allege ill doings by Ambit Energy, I suggest you get the facts and put your mouth in gear first before you set it in motion. To the well informed, you are not only annoying, but you depict a stagnant or perhaps regressing individual, rather than an evolving human being on the current plane of existence. All too often, people such as yourselves, whiners, complainers, and the sorts are too quick to jump to conclusions without realizing your very own ignorance. For example, why are you looking at your total bill charges to determine if Ambit is cheaper? Ambit does not guarantee you're going to consume fewer kilowatts, or that your bill will never be estimated, or on any other of the 7 variables which affects your total bill charges. You need to simply compare the unit cost per kilowatt against the spot rate per kilowatt from your incumbent in your street and for the same given month! That's it, apples to apples.
Anything different and your conclusions are delusional, subject to lunacy and fable claims. It's no different than saying that Frankenstein was a monster living in your basement. Ambit energy is a company of integrity that provides a high value service everyone should use. Unfortunately, like seat belts, there are always "special" people who haven't had the ability to see those benefits. It's not because there aren't any benefits to wearing seats belts, but rather because the rationalization skill of these "special" people is limited in scope. Thus, all they do is complain out loud without just cause, all the while being ignorant of their own crime. Now if you felt offended by my saying special people, I rest my case. You've jumped to conclusions again!

I'm a Senior Consultant with Ambit Energy and I am also a customer. I have to say that Ivetta of Rego Park is definitely telling a fable.First off, there are no contracts, no separate bills (Everything comes through the incumbent, whether its Con Ed or National Grid) and by Federal Law, can only give 7% off the first 2 months with a guarantee of 1-2% after. Even if you don't pay your bill to Con Ed, you will not get a bill from Ambit Energy, such is the partnership with Con Ed. The truth of the matter is:
If you didn't know, the energy industry has been under going a overhaul. Its been Deregulated by the Federal Government much the same way the telephone companies were and we were able to choose another carrier; first for long distance and then the cell phone. Con Ed & National Grid no longer produce gas or electricity. Since 2007 they have been buying their supply on the open market. What does that mean for you? This means Con Ed & National Grid guarantees you:
1. Are paying market rate plus whatever Con Ed & National Grid adds on.2. Con Ed & National Grid will be the ones to supply & deliver your energy, read your meter, and to bill you. They will also collect your fee and be responsible for all service and emergencies.
This means that the other 42 ESCOs in NYS will:1. Sign you to a locked in flat rate that is above market rate for 3-5 years2. Will charge you a termination fee of more than $250 to break their contract. So they will make up stories like Ivetta of Rego Park, NY. While on the other hand, because there is always more than one side to a story, Ambit Energy guarantees that it will give you:
1. 7% discounted off your bill for the First 2 months.2. The only guaranteed rate below Con Eds market rate after the 2 month initial period is over.
3. An additional 2% Break on the Federal Tax.
4. A free 3 day / 2 night stay at a 3 Star Hotel in one of over 25 locations just for upgrading your Supply service to them.
5. Travel rewards points based on your energy usage that you can exchange for various vacation packages with 2000 free Travel Rewards Points to start.
6. A free website to track your Usage, Bill, Rewards Points and Bonuses.
7. The ability to utilize your referral skills, something we all use daily, to gain more travel rewards.
8. The ability to utilize your referral skills and have Ambit pay you each month.
9. The ability to upgrade your service in approximately 4-5 minutes.
10. The fact that nothing changes for you.
Con Ed & National GRID will still be the ones to deliver your energy, read your meter and bill you. They will also collect your fee and be responsible for all service and emergencies.
Now, when I was sitting in front of the computer 1 year ago, just like you are sitting right now, I looked at the facts and weighed the pluses and minuses in my head. It was easy to see that the common sense thing was to go with Ambit Energy because it was much better than staying with Con Ed, National Grid or going with another ESCO. Come join me and thousands of others that have switched energy suppliers for their homes/apts & small commercial properties for free and said no more to Paying More and Getting Less and a big yes to getting more and paying less!

I've had Ambit Energy as my ESCO tied to my budgeted Con Ed bill for a few years and happy with billing. Then, in July 2009, Ambit Energy was tied to my National Grid bill and has yet to be able to get my gas bill re-budgeted. Ambit keeps telling me they can't do this for 1 year so, in meantime, my gas bills have continually gotten higher every month.
Is it true that Ambit must wait 1 year before adjusting their rate so that my monthly National Grid bill will get back on a budgeted payment? This didn't occur when it was tied to my Con Ed bill. I've called Ambit twice and still get the same response that I have to wait 1 year before they can present a budgeted amount to tie to my monthly National Grid billing. I need to know if this is the truth. Since July, 2009, my gas bills have progressively gotten higher and cause economic hardship.
