I am extremely disappointed with Hotwire for the inaccurate information displayed in my online itinerary, which directly contradicted the flight dates in my original booking confirmation email from September 30th. The online itinerary incorrectly stated my flight departed today, December 21st, 2024, when in reality, the Delta flights booked through Hotwire departed yesterday, December 20th. As many travelers rely on readily accessible online itineraries to confirm their plans, rather than digging through old emails, this discrepancy caused me to miss my flight entirely.

To add insult to injury, Hotwire refuses to take responsibility for displaying this inaccurate information and has not offered any form of compensation, not even an account credit, for the significant inconvenience and distress they have caused. As a result, my children and I are now missing Christmas with our family, and they are heartbroken. This has caused significant stress, financial loss due to needing to rebook flights and accommodations, and immense disruption to our holiday plans. Missing this important time with loved ones has been emotionally devastating. Hotwire's lack of attention to detail, failure to ensure consistency across their platforms, and unwillingness to atone for their errors is unacceptable. I urge others to be extremely cautious when relying on Hotwire's services, as this experience demonstrates a concerning disregard for accuracy and customer well-being.

I have used Hotwire many times over the years but have realized in the past year or so that the quality of their hotels has really went to the bottom.. If you look at your possible hotels listed before booking... be cautious you might get totally different hotel and it's usually a dump.. Just beware.

They may have good prices but their prices are All in USD. I booked a Canadian Hotel while in Canada and using a Canadian credit card. At no time was it made clear that the currency was not CAD$ until I received and email confirmation after paying. Suddenly the prices are not really great deals at all and there are no refunds. Customer service number is impossible to find and when you do finally get through they can't do anything. I asked for a manager and had to repeat my request 3 x because he "couldn't hear me". I had to literally shout. It was very uncomfortable. I gave up after a runaround and feel I feel like a victim of fraud. Won't ever use this service again.

Hotwire is a completed joke and a scam. Booked a room at a Days Inn on Asheville Hwy in Knoxville TN and the room was completely infested with cockroaches. I provided pics and videos. How the heck they have this dump rated as a 3-star hotel is beyond me. We were in the room for a total of maybe 20 minutes before we turned around and walked out after discovering the roaches. Hotwire won't give me my money back but offered me $40 to use with Hotwire in the future. Are you insane??? Nasty jokers with garbage hotels. Never again.

I’m not sure what happened to Hotwire. They used to be great, but they have changed—and not for the better. I tried changing my zip code and email address on their website, but I ran into technical difficulties. When I clicked on “save changes” when I change the zip code, it says that changes were saved, but it reverts back to the old zip code. When I clicked on “save changes” when changing the email address, I get an error based on the red box surrounding my email address, but it says that changes were saved.
I texted their customer service to complain, but they are less than helpful. After waiting on hold for 16 minutes, they told me they are unable to change my email address on their end, but they can change my zip code, which I don’t understand. The first agent told me to validate later. I did, and not only did they not change my zip code, my email address was still the I decided to try to close my account and open another with a new email. However, I was informed that it would take 30 days to close!
I talked to another agent, they gave me the same response. They also told me that they were unable to change the zip code because it was a “general zip code” and “not specific to a county”. HUH?! Fed up with their incompetence, I said a few profane words, and they informed me that they consider profanity “inappropriate”, and the agent threatened to end the chat if I continued. Well, maybe if you did your job, I wouldn’t have to yell and use profanity!!! I asked to speak to a supervisor, but they informed me that they were only available 6 am to 6 pm (this was after 8 pm). So nobody is responsible for lower level employees after those hours?! I can see why this company is failing. Fed up, I closed my account. I guess I will need to wait 30 days for the damn account to close, and they can forget about me opening another account with my new email. They just lost a long-standing, loyal customer!

Our flight was delayed. We called the car rental company immediately so they understood us and cancelled the reservation of the car BUT Hotwire refused to credit back the charges. We sent Hotwire a message the same day of the issue with our flight and they never responded back. We were satisfied with Hotwire in the past but we asked them to credit back the charges as a courtesy. Very upset.

Hotwire don't have live support. It's all text or email. When you badly need to speak to someone, you have to wait few days. So when you have problems with your reservation, you're on your own. Calling their 18663942015 will tell you "no Agents available". Any day, anytime, no Agents available. I did a hotel reservation. Hotel did not honor my reservation as the hotel is full. Hotel just asked me to call Hotwire for refund. So, to summarize, reserving a hotel don't really matter when it's through Hotwire. The 2nd time it happened to me.

Bait and switch with respect to insurance during covid. Only made the reservation because it SEEMED I could also buy insurance in case of covid - it was late December 2023 travel. Only after I booked, got an email saying the insurance was only offered to US residents whereas I live in Canada. But that was known at the time of booking when I entered my address!!!! Website accepted the purchase of reservation and the insurance when surely they knew or should have known that it was only a pretense that I was also purchasing the insurance. Of course, family member got covid, couldn't use reservation, no insurance, no refund. Very borderline scam. Seemed like it was intentionally misleading.

Up until this issue I have had great service with Hotwire especially since it's free in our development. Used Hotwire for flights and car rentals. Booking a flight went flawlessly. The past two trips found that prepaying for car rental is worthless. Car chosen on app are not available when needed for trip. Chose different car on-site in lot and the upgrade cost more. I happy to pay the difference from original choice, but found prepaid amount does not show up when paying for the rental. Hotwire does not give itemized receipts, which makes it hard to file a claim to retrieve my prepaid amount. I actually did lose someone but I would never give them that info. It obtrusive and crazy. Basically they took 1,000 dollars and refuse to give it back for needing to postpone the reservation 1 day. Nonetheless, I submitted my credit card information and booked the mystery hotel. Afterwards they revealed the hotel that Hotwire chose and it was not 1 mile away but more than 10 miles away in a prostitute and drug infested area of Baltimore, MD.
Needless to say; I called the hotline for Hotwire and texted that I wanted an immediate refund for their false advertising. They refused to refund me the funds; but offered to give a credit of what I paid minus $20 for a fee and have it be in HOTWIRE DOLLARS for my next trip. Andy ** Was the supervisor I spoke with there, indicating that there is “nothing they can do” because they have a right to give customers any vehicle they desire that is similar regardless of what is advertised on the picture as the “similar vehicle.” The Audi Q7 in this photo seats seven people, a similar vehicle should also see seven people not five.

When I drove for plus hours from Tempe to find out that there is no Best Western hotel where I had booked, it is Hotel Bridge Way at that address, a very dingy place, looks like a shelter place, I was so tired, frustrated and needed to sleep in for early morning next day.
The hotel has nothing to do with best Western, second, the place smelled pee, weeds, roaches, bugs in sink, bath tub, I am so happy I took my own towel, can't imagine only the towels in the bathroom were cleaned at all. I was so exhausted from the drive that l spent on the chair afraid to sleep on bed, my son was having headache so he slept on the bed. Anyway for a reputable business like hotwire shouldn't they let customer know that while booking it is not Best Western? False advertising and false pic were deceiving. Even after I sent in a complaint form, I haven't heard from them at all, other companies at least send an email after the trip a survey. Will never use again and have recommended others too not to use it.

I booked two tickets for international flight with two stops in December 6. January 25th, Hotwire sent me a notification about my flights has been changed and gave me two options: Accept the changes or cancel the flights. I made a phone called to let them know the time changed had discrepancies due to arrival time to Tokyo is 7:00 pm but the next flight from Tokyo to Ho Chi Minh City is depart at 5:10 pm local time which I will miss the connection, no way that I can accept the changes. During my phone conversation with Hotwire representative, the person told me she is making a request to the airline and have them change to fit with all flights schedules, but they need 72 hours to response that request. I called back after 72 hours, waited, and had the same answer as initial called 3 days ago, which meant I had to wait another 72 hours for the airline to resolve the problems.
Again, I called back after another 72 hours, all I got was keep waiting or I cancel those flights. The cancellation can take up from 5-10 business days to get my refund, it’s two more weeks to wait. I lost my patience with them and asked them to give me my money back immediately or have them credit it back to me so I can use that amount to book new flights, I will pay extra for the difference of 300$ total for new flights since prices are going up. They don’t allow me to have my money as credits, they don’t accept me to pay the differences, I need to use my own money if I want to rebook them with the total of around 3000$ more from my pocket. I don’t know they will fully refund me the amount I paid 10 weeks ago, or all they will give me back as credits only, the credits you got to use with certain time limited. I was so disappointed and stressed out since I already planned and paid for hotels first 4 night in Ho Chi Minh City.
This is a five-week trip, traveling to 4 different countries. This long time wait for the resolutions is delaying my planned. I am more disappointed when I heard from Hotwire representative response to my complaint was, the airline took my money, not Hotwire. I was upset and said, "I don’t care how you handle this, I paid to Hotwire, I had all statements that Hotwire sent me an invoice, Hotwire have to hold accountable for it" and said, "I gave you guys another 3 days to give me a resolution than she still said it’s depending to the airline." I am writing this as a bad experience I had been through and not knowing how I can make a complaint or talking to someone and ask them holding accountable for all the cost to rebook if I have to face with, since price is climbing up with time getting closer to travel date.

I am writing to express my utmost disappointment and disgust with my recent stay at Suburban Extended Stay in Kennesaw, Georgia on 7/5/2023 through Hotwire. I booked a room at your establishment with the expectation of a clean and comfortable environment, but unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. Upon entering the room assigned to me, it became immediately evident that the cleanliness standards at your hotel were severely lacking. The room was in a deplorable condition, with visible dirt, grime, and stains on the furniture, carpet, and walls. I was appalled to discover multiple roaches scurrying across the floor and walls, indicating a severe infestation issue.
As a paying customer, I find it completely unacceptable to be subjected to such unsanitary and repulsive conditions during my stay. The presence of roaches not only poses a serious health hazard but also creates an extremely uncomfortable and distressing atmosphere. It is evident that proper pest control measures have been neglected, putting the well-being of guests at risk. Furthermore, I must address the issue of false advertising by Hotwire. Hotwire promoting hotel's online reviews and promotional materials depicted a clean and well-maintained establishment. However, my experience contradicts these claims entirely. It is evident that your hotel has misled potential guests by misrepresenting the state of its facilities.
This breach of trust is deeply disappointing and raises concerns about the integrity of your business. I immediately approached the front desk to voice my concerns and requested to be moved to a different room. However, I was informed that there were no other available rooms. This response is wholly unacceptable, as it suggests a lack of consideration for the well-being and satisfaction of your guests. I expect a higher level of customer service and prompt resolution when faced with such grave issues. Given the unhygienic and uncomfortable conditions I endured during my stay, I kindly request a full refund for the cost of my reservation at Suburban Extended Stay.
I believe it is only fair and reasonable considering the significant inconvenience and distress caused by the state of the room and the subsequent inability to provide an alternative. I trust that you will address my concerns promptly and take appropriate action to rectify these issues. I sincerely hope that Suburban Extended Stay and Hotwire will demonstrate a commitment to ensuring the cleanliness and quality of your facilities for the benefit of future guests. Failure to do so will leave me with no choice but to escalate this matter further and explore other avenues to obtain the compensation I deserve. Thank you for your immediate attention to this matter. I look forward to a swift resolution and a satisfactory outcome.

I booked a hotel room through Hotwire and arrived at the hotel within five minutes of the booking. The hotel informed me they were at capacity with no available rooms. At that point hotwire issued a refund, or so the rep and the email stated. We are now 12 days into this and there is no refund. After four phone calls with hours invested today, I finally received a return phone call from a supervisor who stated everything up until this point has been lies, and no refund had been issued. The supervisor stated that they could cut me a check in four weeks, or could do a wire transfer. I opted for the wire transfer. The supervisor then informed me that the wire transfer could also take up to four weeks because they do not have the capability to issue refunds without going through their finance department.
When I asked for contact information for someone in their finance department the supervisor literally said they do not have electronic communication ability. An internet based company! Does not have the ability to issue instant refunds! An internet based company! Does not have the ability to electronically put me in touch with people who failed to issue a refund in the first place. An internet based company can't give me an email address. The most ridiculous thing I've ever heard.

They booked the wrong hotel which was too far from the area that I was going to, and when I called for help he said, "Yes we will take care of this and we will call you back specifically at 9:00 a.m. the next day so we can get in touch with the people at the hotel to change a booking."
Well my wife for a hotel chain and I know how the system works! Josh said he to hold on while he called the hotel to see if they change it or cancel it without any penalties. Obviously he didn't call because he came back to me and said he couldn't reach anyone at the hotel which is **, There's always someone at the hotel. He repeatedly told me he's going to call the next day and contact me at 9:00 a.m. to help me with the situation. 2 days later I'm still waiting, mind you the same thing happened when I originally called and asked for help too using the hot wire bucks! Their principle and ethics have diminished along with their customer service "TJ" agent ** a reflection of such poor quality. I made a car reservation for April 12, 2023. Held my end of the deal, the unreliable agency NuCar never showed up to pick us up. Was sent on a wild goose chase, following the instructions on the reservation email. After several voicemails. Later the agency sent an email stating they were close. Yet neither company has the decency to take upon any responsibility. Stranded at the airport without any human contact, this turned out to be on the customer. For all I know this arrangement could easily be a scam to rob people of their money with a bogus offer and a bogus agency. This is the end, to our continued business. Very disappointed.

As I was searching for a hotrate from Hotwire popped up, once in a lifetime $3000.00 room at the Fairmont Jasper for 90% off book now before it's gone. I jumped on it, paid the almost $400 for the room, I let my daughter know how proud I was to reserve such a room for her at such a bargain. For the next few months I tried to contact the Fairmont Jasper but they had no record of the reservation, so I contacted Hotwire for the third time for more information as the booking number and reservation had no record at the hotel. They informed me that it was a 3rd party booking so the Fairmont won't have the information until April 2023, so I patiently waited, then contacted the hotel only to find out I was booked into a standard room for $300.00.
This is not only disappointing but I feel bamboozled and tricked, like I was mislead or lured into buying an inflated priced hotel room for profit. Hotwire refuses to change my booking or refund my money because it was stated in the agreement, that is how they get you, if I had just gone to the hotel it would have been too late to do anything, so I contacted them, Fairmont is not at fault, Hotwire is being deceitful by over inflating the room types and prices to lure guests into thinking they got a great deal when they did not.

After numerous times trying to reach customer service we were told to provide documentation to back up the cancellation to get a refund. Then we were recently told of this policy of no refunds. I'm sure this happens a lot with people and they are making a lot of money off the backs of people by no fault of their own had this happen to them. In our case it was about $500. Be careful before booking a "Deal" with Hotwire. Unfortunately, Hotwire is not what it used to be. I reserved what Hotwire called a “4 star” hotel at DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Buffalo - Amherst. Check in was very pleasant. Front desk staff was extremely curious and helpful. Sadly, as we walked through the halls towards our room we started to notice it was worn and dated. As we approached the door, we noticed it was quite dirty. As soon as we open the door we saw the room had cracks and stains in the ceiling. The (very cramped) bathroom floor was worn and filthy. There was what looked like mold on the shower ceiling. Aside from the beds being clean and comfortable, this was more what I would expect from an 80’s motel.
We booked for two nights but we checked out a day early. I received an email from Hotwire a few days later asking for my feedback and if I would recommend the hotel. I tried to click on “No” however after numerous attempts, it would only take me to a page that said “We're sorry but the page you tried to access is unavailable.” therefore I decided to place my complaint here instead. Doesn't even deserve a star. Please read and be careful before booking a "Deal" with Hotwire. Unfortunately, Hotwire has really changed from last year for us booking with them. Last year we got an amazing deal with them and hence why we decided to booked again with Hotwire. So, when the so-called "Deal" came up for 3.5 star of 4 choices of hotels that could either be with a Radisson, Hilton, Omni or Doubletree, and indicated the last person booked got a Doubletree hotel, we decided to try it again with these reputable hotels listed, it would a great booking either way. We were so surprised to see that Hotwire booked Metro Tempe Apartments, which was not even listed nor was it a hotel! We called and asked why this booking, when it was not listed as 1 of the 4 choices, nor was it a hotel, but an apartment for short term rentals.
They assured me that it was a hotel (not true), that there would be someone there for check-in (not true), and assured it was good booking by Hotwire's standards (not true). They also said sales are final because it's such a good "Deal." But, if there is a problem when checking in, to contact them. We arrived on Feb. 22nd at 11:00 p.m., had to get in by a security code that they send by 4:00 p.m. same day of check-in, not before they want you send a picture and provide a card identifying that you are the person checking in because there is no one after 5:00 p.m. at the front desk. That should of been the first indication that something was not right because all hotels normally have staff on-site 24 hours.
Getting into the building needed a security code, onto the floor and into our room. The first thing we saw outside our room was that the door didn't look locked or properly closed, that you could see through into the apartment, and it looked like it had been broken into and not repaired properly. You could push open the door easily (see picture).
Then, they have a Security Guard which patrols the apartment floors at night, has a gun and handcuffs. We were glad to see him though. He went and checked the room and said that he pushed it open easily and the door frame was loose. It is definitely not a safe place and the police are called almost every week with a problem. We had to put the Security Guard on the phone to confirm the problem, as there is no Administration at the place after 5:00 p.m. to speak with nor were Hotwire able to get a hold of any staff by the telephone number given. He told Hotwire that the room was not safe nor the apartment. That was the only way to get reimbursed for this very unsafe place to stay.
Since returning we have not received any call from Hotwire about what happened with our situation, which shows that they don't care about their customers welfare and it's all about the mighty buck! I would highly recommend not booking with Hotwire and booking their so-called "Deal" in the future. We certainly won't be!

Hotwire does not care about the safety of the customers they sell their service too. Hotwire takes no responsibility for the product of the companies they partner with. After arriving at our destination and getting to Dollar rent-a-car we were informed that there were no cars available despite our reservation. Eventually, a vehicle came in that they gave us that was not what we reserved.
Mid-way through the trip the tire popped on the highway. We realized then that all 4 of the tires were bald, some with wire showing through. When we instructed to exchange the car at the nearest airport we were first given another car with unsafe tires. After losing significant amount of time on our trip dealing with an unsafe vehicle we called Hotwire upon our return. While the cars themselves are also a negative review on Dollar, it is Hotwire that provides the booking and should hold themselves accountable to what they are selling.
The customer service agents for Hotwire disregarded all of our concerns about the safety of the vehicle and their responsibility of setting up a reservation for an unsafe vehicle. It wasn't just one customer service agent, but 4 of them, including two managers, who clearly demonstrated that Hotwire instructs their workers that Hotwire will not take responsibility for their poor service. Original: Hello everyone, My name is Javier and I wanted to share one of the worst customer service experiences of this company. I booked a car on the web to pick up at the Amsterdam Airport on July 15 and return it on the 16, I was arriving from Madrid on the 15 in the morning and I had to go to the Hertz desk. My surprise is that on Thursday the 14th I felt bad, and I took a covid test and the result was positive the next day, I called KLM and they changed my plane flight through the test as proof. Then I tried to contact Hertz and they told me that I should contact Hotwire.
I called twice and no one answered the phone, most likely because the time difference with Europe is wide, and I decided to send an email to the address HotwireBookingConfirmationXe.hotwire.com which is where I had my confirmation and that nowhere in the email notifies you that it is an automatic email or nowhere does it notify you that it cannot be replicated like other emails from other websites that put NOREPLY clearly says. Obviously, no one answered me and today I expected someone to do so and nothing. Finally, through the chat I was able to contact someone, and they told me that I had already lost my 175 euros for one day's rent for no show. How is it possible that, having notified them by mail, sending the positive covid test and knowing that it is not my fault, they are not able to send me a voucher or rent the car again for next week, as KLM has shown me? They have excellent customer service by the way.
My confirmation number is Hotwire itinerary # **, above all to show that I'm not lying. Please do not buy anything with this web page, which from what I am seeing on the internet has a very bad reputation for customer service, I will certainly never from Europe to buy anything with them. Please share it and thus we avoid more deceptions/frauds of this web. Right now that covid is still active, this type of problem will happen to more people and we need companies that, in addition to raising prices, care more about customers in this case than because of covid they are unable to fly or do other things. I repeat, I did everything in my power and nothing, nobody from the company wants to help me.
Thank you and regards,
Javier

I was unable to rent the car for reasons with the actual rental company so I tried to use the Hotwire dollars which are non refundable and can only be used on certain days and places. No one stated or told me any of this until after you bought them.
When I called to rent the room I couldn't use them and they flagged my account to their risk management team. For reasons unknown to me they couldn't or would not answer that question. So I was told they would call me back within 2 hours if I emailed them this was Saturday. I emailed them twice that day. No one called. Sunday comes, I spent my entire trip dealing with them on the phone. I sent 6 more emails which got no response and talked to customer service 100 times. No one there has number for risk management, just an email address. The management there was horrible, rude, acted like I was trying to spend someone else's money. The actual representative that helped me on Monday morning was the only person there who attempted to remedy the situation. I would not use them ever. They are unorganized and petty thieves that get to hide behind corporate America.

After I got my "Hot Deal" I went and read the reviews. The hotel is NASTY. People complained of blood stains, and horrible smells. The beds were the only things that were considered clean. Even the hall ways are disgusting, and the most recent review stated they would never stay there again, and they were only staying overnight. IN short, the Hot Deal is a way to pass off crappy hotels, and nothing more. Do not fall for it. I am just going to eat the loss as this "Hot Deal" is so good it can't be refunded. I have used Hotwire for awhile, did give good deals, discount, service was ok. Then I don't know what happened within the last year it seems just has gone to heck. And they don't care. I needed a room last month was in San Jose Ca so I looked up on hotwire found a hot deal, tried to book the room, get to the very last tab to slid the bar to book the room. And bam its tells me "oh no something went wrong, but don't worry you didn't get charged. Please try book again later." So it's happened before, well not exactly like this time, but anyway tried to book again same thing. So thought oh well something wrong with the site. So I just went to the hotel to book the room to see. Sometimes the hotels will give you the same rates.
As I was booking the room with the hotel my card wouldn't go through. Went online to see what's what. Well they (hotwire) did charge my card both times, took all my money $160. So couldn't get the room so I tried to get a hold of hotwire. You know there's nowhere on their app that gives you a number to call them or contacted them at all. Anyway googled it, got it, tried calling them. Can't talk to them, the switches to texting someone. What a joy that was. The first so called customer text rep was just a real lug to say the least. We go through this ridiculous verification process to verify I am me and it's my account. He said he couldn't verify me with the answers I gave him which just Infuriated me so needless to say I didn't get anywhere with that lug.
So tried calling back again, got another text rep who did verify me only to inform me he couldn't help me in anyway after had explained I have paid for a service and hadn't received any service and now no compensation. And no way to get another room as well as now be sleeping in my car on this cold night without any blankets. Hotwire should be called Hotair as that's all received. The text rep had informed I have to call their risk management as that's who has locked up my account and would be the only one that could help but it's after hours, have to call tomorrow, sorry for any inconvenience and thanks for contacting customer service. Then the text rep had the nerve to send me a survey on the quality of my customer service experience outcome. Which was a 0, same as the like the star rating with hotair or hotwire which is a no star. If you have a minus stars it would be a minus 10 stars.
The so called risk management I think locked up my account because at the last min of booking the room they didn't think it was me so instead of just locking up my account without taking my money they took my money then locked up my account. Some risk management. They now tell me they can find the transaction. It falls off in a few days and my financial institution will refund me or they will have to file an investigation. What a joke.
I will never ever use hotair or hotwire for any type of service ever. I'll walk before trying to rent a car, I'll walk before ever booking a flight, I'll sleep in my car before booking a room. Oh wait I already had to that. They're a joke, shouldn't be in any type of booking business at all. I would never recommend anybody using them and if you do use at your own risk. I don't waste time or energy on anything I can't control. What I can control is how well I treat other people. Consumers beware of Hotwire. Nothing but hotair.

On July 4, 2021 I reserved a car rental in Rockford, IL through Hotwire. The only rental agencies open on this holiday were at the Rockford Airport, so I selected this location for pickup, choosing the prepaid "Hot Rate" option for the best price. I received a Hotwire confirmation in e-mail stating this location's hours of operation from 9am to 4pm. My reservation was at 2pm. Everything seemed in order. Upon arrival, minutes *before* 2pm (I looked at my watch on arrival, it was 1:56pm), the entire airport was empty (it's a small town) and all the car rental desks were closed. I attempted calling Hotwire, but the hold time was 2.5 hours. I did not hold. No other car rental agencies were open in the region on that holiday, outside of Chicago O'Hare, a 1+ hour drive.
The next day, after taking an Uber for $25 each direction, I was able to pick up my car one day late. The Enterprise agent told me they had closed early the previous day due to lack of business, and could not contact me since Hotwire doesn't share my contact information with them. I asked why they didn't at least wait until 2pm, my reservation time, and got a shoulder shrug.
After my vacation, I have contacted Hotwire directly and through the Better Business Bureau. My message to them: "Hotwire confirmed in writing that my rental location was open until 4pm and did not update me otherwise. I arrived minutes before my 2pm reservation time and the location was closed. I paid for 5 rental days, but only received 4 due to a Hotwire error. The fair and right thing is for Hotwire to own their error and refund the one missed day of rental (plus Uber fare would be a great customer service moment as well)."
The result: Rather than taking a customer service approach, Hotwire, has not owned their mistake and instead blames me. They state that I could not have been there at 2 since the agency was open until 2pm (what about the Hotwire 4pm confirmation?). They also state that since I did not call them "in the moment," they will not deal with the issue after the fact, and that my "Hot Rate" is not refundable. All these statements are ridiculous! I was absolutely there before 2pm and most people would wait 2.5 hours to talk to somebody during their vacation. In the end, Hotwire has refused to refund only one night of rental. I will no longer do business with Hotwire. A company who blames their own customer and does not own the error they made is not a company I want to do business with. I hope you also consider this when selecting a travel site in the future.

I booked a rental car for a vacation in Vegas, but my flight was delayed by 3 hours so I didn't arrive to my destination until after the rental car counter was closed. Had to Uber to my hotel and then back again the next day to pick up the car. Contacted Hotwire for a refund for the day I didn't use and they said there were no refunds. I saved MAYBE $15 by booking through Hotwire instead of direct with the car rental company, but lost out on more by not getting refunded for the day I didn't use and the uber costs. Lesson learned. Never again will I use a 3rd party "bargain" site like Hotwire.

I booked a Hotwire Hotdeal. Right after sending in the booking, I realized I hadn’t noted the I might be a late check-in. So I notified the hotel directly (& confirmed the booking but not the rate- my mistake). But also b/c of this did not notice that Hotwire had not sent their original confirmation email yet. So when me credit card bill arrived & is much higher than anticipated, I called Hotwire. The rate I remember booking is not the rate they say I booked. They also say I added Travel Insurance. I never get travel insurance unless traveling abroad.
All told, this booking cost at least $150 more than expected. When I called Hotwire, I was looking for an explanation as to what happened. Instead they immediately launched into how many ways this wasn’t their fault, and their policy didn’t allow for any changes- particularly after the fact. I wasn’t even thinking of being able to get a refund. I was hoping to get an explanation and MAYBE an apology. Not even close. Will never use Hotwire again.

Hotwire gave me a fabulous deal on a car rental. But when I went to pick up the car, I found a rental location that had been closed for months with a sign directing me to go to a different location ten minutes away. At the second location, they told me this is happening with Hotwire customers all the time, but they keep sending people to the closed location. The second location couldn't pull up the Hotwire reservation at all and refused to credit me with any of the money I had already paid Hotwire. I had to pay for a brand new reservation. I hope to get a refund from Hotwire, but their customer service is horrendous. It's taken me hours to get an agent and they won't respond via email. Very unimpressed. Going to my credit card company for a refund.

Good site to find discounted rental car prices, but I’ve been burned too many times to ever use again. “No refunds” means just that. At the start of the pandemic shutdowns I had prepaid for a rental thru Hotwire in Maui in May 2020. Even though that trip became impossible due to travel restrictions, I was unable to get a refund. More recently we got double charged for a rental through Sixt (both directly by the rental car company AND Hotwire), I disputed the double charge but to no avail, had to pay twice. I’ve used Hotwire twice to get a rental at ATL. Both times the line at the company they set me up with were more than 1 hr long (first time was Sixt, the next time Advantage). There were no lines either time at any of the other company counters.
Evidently Hotwire sends an inordinate number of buyers to the same company within a short period of time when said company is offering the best prices at the time. This is fine and legitimate if you don’t mind waiting a long time after your flight. Henceforth I have decided never to use Hotwire again. I would prefer paying a higher price by booking directly after all of the problems I have had with this company.

1 star: Bad. June 22, 2021. Horrible customer service. Hotwire is a horrible uncaring and disreputable company. I recently availed myself of their services by renting a car on their website. I totally understand their policies. They have a no refund policy for any cancellations or changes to a reservation made through them. The car company they assigned to me was Sixt, a German company. They are equally horrible in their corporate practices and policies. When I went to the Sixt counter they would not honor my reservation and refused to rent me a car. They also said that they would not be refunding me any money. I know this sounds crazy, but it is the truth.
When I immediately contacted Hotwire they told me there was nothing they could do. They also refused to help and refused to refund my money. Let me express this point one more time. I rented a car using Hotwire. They gave me Sixt. Sixt refused to rent me a car and I am out over $600. A service was not provided, but I paid for it in full. You can't make this stuff up. I asked Hotwire to show me the clause in their agreement that states a service can be paid for, not provided and no one is responsible to answer for that. This is insane. The government needs to step in and protect consumers. I will not be deterred in my mission for justice. Hotwire is performing a criminal act....robbery. The only difference from an individual performing the crime is that they are doing it without a gun.

We recently returned from an 8-day trip to Mexico, flying in and out of Cancun. Our trip was from December 24th to January 1st. Two days prior to our trip, we booked a rental car. The rental car deal was found on Kayak, and then booked via Hotwire with Dollar Rental Car. Our confirmed reservation was for an economy car at $22.48 per day for a total of $267.74 including all taxes, surcharges, and fees.
Prior to departing for Mexico, my wife called Hotwire and Dollar to confirm the details of the reservation because we had heard stories about rental car companies not honoring reservations. Both the Hotwire and Dollar representatives confirmed the accuracy of the reservation and guaranteed there would be no additional fees and that we would only have to pay the total from the reservation. My wife had made a tentative reservation with Avant Car Rental for reference to pricing that also included all fees and insurance. Since the Hotwire rental was not a hot rate, we could have easily cancelled the reservation and rebooked with Avant Car Rental prior to departure. Given the current reservation made and included all additional fees, we continue with our Hotwire rental. (Avant Rental agreement included for reference)
Upon arrival at the Dollar Rental Car location in Cancun we were told that the reservation would not be honored, and instead it would end up costing $655.32. The daily rate was higher than what was quoted in the reservation, additional fees were added, and $26.00 per day was charged for liability insurance, even though the Hotwire website quoted liability insurance in Mexico as costing $13.00 per day, if required.
We discussed these discrepancies with the Dollar staff in Cancun, but they were unwilling to honor the original reservation. We were told our only recourse was to raise this issue with Dollar and Hotwire customer service upon return to the US. To date, any efforts to resolve this issue with any of the customer service representatives have been met with silence.
January 7th, My wife called Hotwire around 8:13AM to discuss the fraudulent charges. She called several times from different phones because the customer service agents continued to say they could not hear her on the other line. This seemed odd since all the phones were landlines. The first person she spoke to was named Andy. She explained the overcharges that occurred and reviewed with the agent what the reservation charges should have been and reminded him that the reservation was not a “Hot Rate” booking. Andy put My wife on hold and when he returned, he reported he could not hear her and hung up the phone.
My wife called Hotwire again around noon to speak with a supervisor. Violet answered the phone this time. She read over the previous agents notes and started her statement with “Hotwire did not do the billing for your reservation so this is not something Hotwire is responsible for.” Although the billing aspect may be true, Hotwire was the booking company that provided the reservation at a given price. They are working with companies vouching for their integrity and business. My wife asked to speak directly with a supervisor. The line was disconnected in the transfer.
My wife called Hotwire for another time and Jennifer answered the phone. My wife immediately asked to be transferred to a supervisor and was transferred to Jen. Jen reviewed the reservation, asked for reservation numbers for both Hotwire and Dollar, and asked for total charges that occurred. Jen stated she would need to contact Dollar car rental directly. My wife was placed on hold. Jen then came back on the line to confirm our Dollar reservation number because she reported it appeared the reservation was never fulfilled on Dollar’s end. My wife repeated the Dollar reservation number, to which Jen confirmed on her end was the same.
Jen then asked me to check my receipt and see if the reservation matched. Upon looking at the receipt, the booking number at the top was in fact different. This brought to my attention that not only were we overcharged, but Dollar had created the charges outside of our reservation. Dollar did not honor our reservation despite us showing them our printed reservation in hand that we had a reservation made by Hotwire prior to our arrival. We were not aware the reservation was not used until My wife made this phone call.
Jen then proceeded to ask me for the booking number on my receipt. She said she was going to follow up with Dollar but since the receipt did not match the reservation, Hotwire may not be able to help. My wife was very upset by this statement. The reservation being done under a different booking number was done without either of our consent or knowledge. It now makes sense why Dollar said we would need to contact Hotwire and Dollar when we returned to the states to deal with the discrepancy. They knew they had changed the reservation and that Hotwire would not be able to manage our reservation. My wife was left on hold with Jen for 20 minutes with no response. Our conclusion is that she too realized we had been scammed and was working with Dollar on the other line. My wife hung up due to the extended wait time.
My wife called Dollar Car rental during the time she was on hold with Jen from Hotwire (around noon) and spoke to a customer service agent. My wife asked if the agent could help her with an overcharge. The agent asked My wife for our reservation number. When My wife gave her the Dollar Car Rental reservation number, the agent reported her computer showed the reservation was made, but not fulfilled. My wife asked her if she could send a copy of this information showing the reservation was not fulfilled to her personal email. The agent said she was not able to do so. She said the notes were not something that was able to email to customers. My wife asked if she could write a statement via email stating the car was not picked up. The agent again said no. My wife asked to speak to a supervisor regarding the issue and was put on hold for an extended period of time, then the call was disconnected.
When My wife called Dollar back to speak with the supervisor, the customer service representative stated that they did not have access to viewing whether the reservation was fulfilled. Whatever notes were added to previous telephone encounter now resulted in a different statement/story from this new representative. The representative told My wife to call the Cancun location to request a refund if there was an error. My wife asked the representative if there was a corporate level that handles these situations because the likelihood of the location providing a refund when they are the ones scamming customers was unlikely. My wife told the representative the location would likely not be helpful and she would like corporate support with this issue. She said there was nothing else she could do. At this point, My wife hung up.
My wife called Hotwire back after work around 5pm and Hazel answered the line. My wife explained to Hazel her previous phone conversation with Jen (supervisor). Hazel said she would read the previous notes from the phone calls so she could further assist in the issue. Hazel was not helpful. Hazel told My wife “it appears based on the documentation that you chose to create a new reservation and due to this, it is not Hotwire’s responsibility. Hotwire did not collect payment for the reservation and since the Hotwire reservation was not used, this was not their concern.” This is not accurate and also does not make sense. We did not request a new reservation upon arrival. We brought a copy of our reservation with confirmation numbers for both Hotwire and Dollar on the printout.
We also brought a copy of Hotwire subclauses regarding potential accident insurance and liability insurance. We brought a printout of Chase Sapphire Reserve auto rental collision coverage with us as well. Why would we cancel our reservation we made prior to our trip, on top of confirming reservation/fees with two representatives the day before travel, for the same car but agree to pay more than 2x the price. There was no upgrade involved and the car we were given was the same as reserved with Hotwire.
Ultimately, Dollar Cancun is scamming customers by changing reservations and overcharging without customer’s knowledge or consent. Dollar is overcharging customers, and Hotwire is not intervening in these issues. Hotwire is continuing to perform business with this company even after knowing these scams are occurring. By Hotwire not taking actions to assist in a refund from Dollar for the overcharges, and being aware exactly how these overcharges are being made, Hotwire is complicit to these actions. By switching customer’s reservations, Dollar is also scamming Hotwire out of their commission/ breaking agreements. They are utilizing Hotwire resources but removing Hotwire from the equation with the change in reservation. This further confirms fraudulent activity. We are asking for a refund due to the fraudulent charges. Our original reservation was for $267.74.

I rented a car after having to enter my driver's license number into their system. I did not realize (dumb on my part so not all their fault) my license had expired, but due to the peace time emergency act all licenses are extended 3 additional months (it has been taking extraordinarily long for licenses to be renewed). The rental place said they could not transfer the rental agreement to my wife because their policy forbids it...but told me to contact Hotwire...they were completely useless and unhelpful. I tried explaining that my license is legally valid due to the peace time emergency act, but they did nothing. I was out my money and come to find out it wasn't even a good rental rate as I found a better car with Priceline for $40 less, but I was out my $100. I tried to call back again and speak to a manager, but they said their policy allows for nothing.
I find it despicable that a company will not do anything to work with a customer...now I will never use them again and I will encourage others to never use them. No kindness, no credit or refund just the policy (which technically my license was still valid and even more ridiculous is they would not transfer to my wife!)... Awful awful customer relations department.

The "Hotrate" practice allows for unfair surprise for the average, ordinary consumer. No renter would anticipate the possibility that they would pay $297.76 in advance with not only the possibility, but the likelihood that not only would they would neither be provided the vehicle they have reserved, nor would they would receive a refund. Renting a "Hotrate" car is effectively gambling, and the consumer will not know this in advance.
Only after agreeing to the lowest price offered on the Hotwire.com website, which invariably is this "Hotrate" offer, and only after making the payment, is it revealed what car rental agency will be providing the vehicle. This means that the consumer does not even know with whom they are actually making a contract, and without the identity clearly stated of all parties, there is no valid contract.
This is the key point because, as here, it was only after making the payment that it was revealed that ACE Car Rental was the agency and that their policy was not to charge (only local renters) an extra $.40/mile for every mile exceeding a 100 mile/day limit. But even if we agreed to this unconscionable extra term, we were outright refused the rental because my family planned to drive to out of SoCal to Bryce Canyon Utah.
I have been renting cars in California for 35 years for business and pleasure, and I have never had such limitations imposed, so I therefore never even contemplated this possibility. I understand that this is related to Covid-19 concerns, and I also understand that a business can set whatever terms it wants, but if new and totally unexpected terms are to be imposed, it is only fair that the consumer be provided a reasonable opportunity to withdraw their acceptance of a contract with terms that shock the conscience (paying something for nothing). I suppose I should just be grateful that, once the particular rental agency was revealed, that I did not discover there is an extra $1000 charge if I do not qualify.
ACE, or any other car rental agency, that knowingly participates in this "Hotrate" method of renting a vehicle, should be ashamed because they are aiding and assisting Hotwire with causing great harm to consumers. I would venture make up the bulk of those presently renting vehicles in California, should not be participating in this "Hotrate" scheme. The manager of the agency in Los Angeles, Luis, informed us that he has multiple such failed rentals every single day. There is no reason for this. Hotwire has incurred no loss of time, effort or materials such that they cannot reasonably effectuate a refund and, thereby, prevent harm and preserve goodwill.
I repeat: This business practice places the average consumer at a disadvantage on an unlevel playing field because the renter is forced to accept unconscionable terms that can lead to an unfair surprise. It should also be understood that the harm caused by a failed rental goes beyond the money that is lost for that particular transaction, as a car renter that ends up at the agency with their family is now left without transportation, and this can lead to great complications when the renter or a family member has health issues or, as with my family, one of the travelers was pregnant.
We have contacted the law firm, Morgan and Morgan, and are working toward forming a class with other consumers who have suffered similar harm in order to file a class-action lawsuit. If we don't, then Hotwire will be happy to continue this practice of profiting at no expense of time, trouble or treasure. We will keep those of you who are interested posted.
Please note that I have been a long-time/frequent user of Hotwire, so I have been in complete shock at this experience. While speaking to a supervisor and explaining the harm it was causing us to be effectively stranded without a vehicle (with my daughter-in-law being pregnant), she abruptly said, "That's all" and hung up the phone.

Rented a vehicle for a week and purchased the additional auto insurance from the Hotwire site. I received an email from the third party seller and was told that there was an issue with the additional insurance being processed. I was told that the additional insurance can only be purchased at time of booking and that I should contact Hotwire. Long story short Hotwire said it was not their problem even though I requested the additional insurance through their site. I have no extra insurance and am still stuck with paying Hotwire for the rental.

We had a rental car reservation through Hotwire with Hertz. Hawaii shut down due to Covid so travelers are unable to rent cars. Hertz did not charge Hotwire for our reservation because you CAN NOT rent a car. Hotwire refused to refund our money and even hung up on my husband. HOTWIRE CAN NOT provide the service that we paid them for but they are keeping our money. We also rented through Travelocity and they refunded right away because they could not provide the service. Hotwire is a SCAM. A company can not charge for a service that they are unable to provide.

AVOID! They will take the money and then show rude and condescending attitude toward their customers. Welcome Hotel Essen is also not worth your money. Booked a hotel 'Welcome Hotel Essen' via Hotwire. Global pandemic happened in the meantime. Spent five months trying to cancel my reservation, or at least get consumer credit when travelling gets back to normal. Both the hotel and Hotwire showed no desire to actually solve the problem. Hotwire avoided any real action until it was too late, so on the day after my check-in, they were glad to inform me that I was a no-show at the hotel and that a refund isn't possible. The worst part is that the last time I contacted them was just the day before my booking, and they convinced me they are dealing with it. Coincidentally, just the day after they couldn't find any notes on my cancellation requests or evidence that their agents actually contacted the hotel in an effort to resolve the matter.

My wife and I were looking for a motel in the Redlands, California are so we could attend a funeral. We used the app and put the dates in. A listing of several very NICE motels came up including a Marriot, Holiday Inn, Comfort Suites, etc; so we booked it. To our utter disappointment, Hotwire booked us at Motel 6!!! No mention of that listed at all. No way to cancel it! We tried to contact customer service to complain, but no one EVER ANSWERS!
They did a classic “Bait and Switch” on us. The previous two times I’ve used Hotwire, we were booked in excellent motels. Not this time, they booked us in a DUMP! Sheets are disgusting, the room smells, no hairdryer, no hand towels, no place to put a suitcase or even a CLOSET, just a broken hook on the wall. The motel is next to major highway in Redlands and the windows provide no sound insulation at all, with cars racing up the street all night long. We are extremely UNSATISFIED and WILL NOT use HOTWIRE P again. This is less than a One Star with drug dealers on the premises!

I tried to modify our pick up and drop off times (less than 4 hours difference) and they (Hotwire and National Car Rental) wouldn't help out. Due to unprecedented times we are in, I feel they should be more flexible. The flight time change was not my doing. Now they want me to sit at the airport for 3 hours to wait for my rental car. No thanks. I'll eat the money and rent from someone else that is more understanding. I will never rent from National or book with Hotwire again.

I honestly can't say enough bad things about this experience. A normal standard of renting cars through any website and any company is to have the ability to drive between states. When my friend and I rented this car we were NEVER informed that part of the deal would be that we could not leave the state of Colorado. We INTENTIONALLY did a Denver-Denver reservation because we thought that made things easier for rental companies and it would be less complex.
It was not until we got to the rental agency - Ace Rent-A-Car - and had a discussion about the toll options offered that we realized that would be something we would need to figure out, but whatever it was what it was. HOWEVER, it was not until a few days later during our first week of a 7-week western road-trip that we were exploring options for the toll plan to see if we could do the drives without hitting tolls that we found a tiny contingence that said we could not leave the state.
At first, we tried using Hotwire's online helping agent who could not have been more dismissive and less helpful saying it was all contingent upon the policies agreed upon between us and Ace Rental Cars. After spending 4 hours cumulatively trying to get through to Ace agents and, eventually, a manager there, we were informed that Hotwire held the money from Ace and that Ace would adjust the reservation to enable us to drive out of state. Following this, we called Ace directly and spent another hour cumulatively with an agent and a manager who had nothing to say besides, "I hear you sir, but there is nothing we can do." At the end of the day, there were many things they could have done, they just were not willing.
Considering all the non-refundable bookings we had in other states, all we were asking for was for them to be flexible with the policy, a new car through a different agency, or a partial refund as we would have to rent a new car -- which was what we eventually had to do. Hotwire was unwilling to do anything besides continue to reject us and eventually hung up on us -- this was without a doubt the worst customer service experience I have ever had and left me with a lower opinion of the capability of human beings to be sympathetic period.
I never leave these reviews but I had to leave this because I will never, ever, ever forget it and I hope just one person sees this and rents anything through ANY OTHER AGENCY. We ended up getting a different car through another agency who laughed at us for asking if we could take it out of state and even when out of their way to inform us we would get our money back if we returned early, which we ended up doing with this useless car. Hotwire -- you are the worst company ever.

Upon his arrival to pickup his car they refused to accept his valid license and did not let him have the car I paid for. Hotwire refused to refund stating it's their policy that you cannot cancel. We did not cancel and I believe they should refund the fees since it was no fault of ours that we could not get the paid for car. I spoke to two line customer service reps and two supervisors and one hung up and the other said I told you our policy and we can't help you. I asked for contact information to corporate and they refused to provide it. I will never use this company again and I will tell every person that they are crooks.

Don't do it! I have used this company for years. For some reason this company is not performing as normal. I made reservations for a 3.5 star hotel. The actual hotel I received was more like 1 stars. The hotel had ZERO amenities that were listed. The staff was extremely unprofessional I witness 3 arguments between staff members alone on my short stay. The heaters did not work so rooms were freezing cold. Only one ice machine worked in a building with well over 200 rooms & the ice machine was on the 6th floor.
I contacted Hotwire about this issue and they claim there was nothing they could do about it. I spoke to a supervisor & she stated she could give me a $40 credit. She stated verbatim out of her mouth if hotwire gives me the same hotel she can transfer me to another hotel if I give them a call back. She explained that she would put this in my concern account notes.
I made an additional one night reservation through Hotwire with my $40 credit & received the same raggedy hotel. I called Hotwire as the supervisor told me. Hotwire acted as if I was lying and told me that they don't have an employee by that name or badge number given to me. Offered no solution. I'm sure they can pull up recorded phone messages but did not do so.
In addition to this upon check out this hotel charged me additional $40. For no reason at all! I am so done with this company! I advise any others to STAY AS FAR AWAY AS POSSIBLE FROM THIS COMPANY AND ANY COMPANY AFFILIATED WITH THEM. I'm sure in no time they will be out of business because of the way they handle customer service issues.

Beware of Hotwire!!!! If you purchase the hotwire deal expect them to take your money even if your travel will be cancelled due to COVID. The fall is coming and Covid cases are on the rise. We were ripped off by Hotwire who refused to even accommodate us for a credit toward a future booking. We booked a car rental in January 2020, prior to the pandemic. We were informed we could not travel to Florida. Airlines credited, condo refunded and Hotwire claimed it was Sixth Car rental policy that refused to refund and therefore there was nothing they could do. Sixth car rental on the other hand stated in an email that since we booked with hotwire, it was up to them to refund our money. Hotwire refused.
I am saving all my phone documentation and emails and waiting for a class action lawsuit against Hotwire for their dishonest and deceiving practice of not trying to do the right thing and stand behind the consumer. They found a loophole to steal thousands of dollars from decent folk. Would wonder...if the car rental agency burned down the day before we arrived to pick up a car rental, would hotwire refund or keep the consumers' money? It was the pandemic that caused us not to travel and not because we cancelled. Shame on Hotwire for stealing our hard earned money!!! Says a lot about this companies reputation.

I have been a customer of Hotwire for many years. Typically, I book one of their Hot Rates get a good deal and use the reservation. This June with COVID going on I was reluctant to make a reservation with all the uncertainty. Hotwire was advertising that because of COVID they were allowing cancellations. So, I went ahead and booked. My plans changed so I went to their website and cancelled. Message said it could take up to 30 days to process cancellation. I received an email 60 days later denying my cancellation request.
I can't get a clear answer as to why, other than my request was denied. Here's the language that was on my receipt. Cancellation: All new Hot Rate® Hotel bookings made from March 20 – June 15, 2020, with travel starting on or before June 15, 2020 are eligible for free cancellation. Cancellations or changes can be made up to 24 hours before your scheduled arrival date. My reservation was for June 13, 2020. I followed the instructions to cancel. Have called several times and they have not really provided an explanation other than it was denied. Customer Service is awful. Be aware of booking with Hotwire.

We had an 14-day car rental beginning with our arrival in Spokane, WA late on a Saturday evening. On Friday morning, my husband and I agreed that we should call our pediatrician to run our son's symptoms by them and see if a COVID test was warranted. Long story short: a COVID test was ordered after a phone screening and we were able to have it done that same day. The estimated turnaround time was 72 hours. We gave it as much time as we could the next day before we were scheduled to fly, but when the result didn't come we felt that it would be wrong to travel with the possibility that our son was carrying COVID.
Alaska Airlines was AMAZING and rescheduled us without penalty or even making us pay the increased fare for flying a different day. Hotwire, however, stiffed us. They appear to have no refund/cancellation policy tailored to the COVID situation. They communicated as though they have no understanding of the situation at all. We explained the common sense decision we made, and they wanted to know if I (as the one whose name was on the reservation) was unable to travel. No, of course not. (facepalm here)
When we had it, we sent them (via chat) a copy of my son's test result showing that the test was done before travel and the result came after we would have departed. It had the name of the medical institution that ordered and performed the test. Unacceptable. It must be a letter on doctor's letterhead saying that my son was "under a doctor's care" and "unable to travel" during the dates of our reservation. That's impossible: no one was "treating" our son and he was not "unable to travel". How is it not clear to them that the situation was not fabricated and that in the midst of a worldwide pandemic we made the obvious right decision to delay travel until we knew for certain my son was negative????
We will NEVER book through Hotwire again. We've spent many hours on the phone with them, gone as high as we can go, written an articulate letter to them describing every detail of the situation and expressing our feelings, and we feel confident no-one outside of India will ever read it. This is WRONG. When I read here that Hotwire has treated others in similar pandemic-induced situations similarly, I can only conclude that rather than struggle doing the right thing as other businesses are doing, they are profiting and literally STEALING money from people who are receiving no service whatsoever from them. We are a single-income family and a $900 donation to a heartless corporation is no drop in the bucket. I am sickened by their performance in this situation and deeply disappointed in their lack of humanity.
