Mistake was made on website and Hotwire website booked room in wrong city. Made attempts to fix situation and Hotwire's customer service was horrible and agent couldn't speak understandable English and was completely dismissive. Tried again and was treated even worse. Paid for a room and never even got to stay at hotel because it was not in city I needed based on website error! Horrible customer service and company wouldn't even try to hear my complaint or attempt to correct or provide any decent customer service. Will never use them ever and advise everyone else to never use. Pick a company who actually cares about its customers!!! Company sent a response saying nothing other than their goal was to exceed expectations and regret it didn't, obvious computer generic generated response that addressed no facts or problems caused by website!

NEVER use the Hotwire Hot Rate to book your hotel! Use any other company. Hotwire is totally inflexible when it comes to changing the room even if they book you into a fleabag hotel. Hotwire also charges taxes and fees on top of the listed price. So we ended up paying more than the Expedia rate for the Fleabag hotel room Hotwire gave us. We paid 3 months in advance for this fleabag hotel room from Hotwire and they over charged us with hidden costs. Hotwire charged us $156 and the Expedia rate was 143, payable on arrival and you could cancel any time right up to the date. I will never use HOTWIRE again. They don't care about their customers!

We were coming up to Chattanooga from Alabama for the weekend 4/24 and check out 4/27. While we were only driving around an hour to get here we wanted to make sure we could find a great room for a good price before we headed up. We searched online and decided to book with Hotwire to stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Hixson TN being that it was close to where we would be spending our time. When we got to the hotel (a few hours after we booked the reservation) we were informed that the hotel was booked and that our reservation had been canceled.

We proceeded to call Hotwire where the only answers they had for us is that they would refund the money in one to two billing cycles. They also said they would be more than happy to book us another room but we would have to pay again because they couldn't use those funds. Why would we pay twice when they fell through with the first reservation and would not refund the money for so long? That is ludicrous!! When we stated this was unacceptable they decided to hang up on us. We tried to call back several times where we were placed on never ending holds. I would not recommend using this site if you want to actually reserve a room!! We ended up staying way across town and had to pay more for a room and who knows when we will receive a refund! The way they treat their customers I don't know how they're still in business. I hope this saves some people some time, frustration and money!

Not ONLY DID THEY CHARGE MY CARD twice I called Regions Bank which is my bank and they told me my card wasn't fraudulent and my bank credited the money back to my card. Well the next day Hotwire charges my card again and refuse to give me my money back. These people are a SCAM and unprofessional. I would STAY AWAY FROM THIS SITE!! Be cautious with the star rating you are picking when booking hotels. We have booked 3-3 1/2 star hotels many times with Hotwire always with great results. Free parking, free WiFi, free hot breakfast in many instances. Newer very clean rooms and great locations. Our issue comes with the 4-5 star rated hotels. You should expect large parking fees, expensive WiFi, poor room placement, and no included amenities.

Recently paid $44 night / parking and did not buy WiFi as it was a similar cost. Pay close attention to what is included in the booking prior to confirming your room. We love and use Hotwire all the time in fact we find it exciting to roll the dice so to speak while we travel. Just saying the 3 1/2 star hotels are your best bet for value, comfort and amenities. Cheers.

Buyer beware. Hotwire, Expedia & Lemon Tree Suites. I recently booked a hotel for the Anaheim, California area through Hotwire. They advertised a rate of $189.00 a night for $83.25 a night. I have used Hotwire before and have loved the service and value I had received. Therefore when I booked this six night stay my expectation was based on my previous experiences. Once the hotel was booked, I got a confirmation of which hotel was selected. To my utter shock I was notified that I was booked in at the Lemon Tree Suites. I then checked the Lemon Tree website to see the $189.00 room and found that there wasn't one! I was scammed! I called Hotwire and was notified that they go by the neighborhood average for the advertised rate. In other words, there are various hotels in the area with the original rate, this is why Hotwire is allowed to promote this rate. I was advised that no changes could be done to this booking.

Once we arrived at the hotel it was as expected. I tried to keep a positive outlook on this whole experience, however it was very rundown and dingy. I had no other options as I had already paid for my stay. We tried to overlook the old tiles, the small bathroom and the door that had no weather stripping on it. The door frame had molding and the light from outside was easily seen through it. The lock didn't quite work, and the chain was required to fully lock the door. This left both my mother and I feeling very unsafe.

The last straw was when we found bugs on our beds. They were small and brownish red in color. We could feel them on our skin and leg hairs. We then went to the lobby and advised the staff of the situation. They called a maintenance employee to our room, who then told us that the whole room would need to be emptied and cleaned. We then check out of the hotel. We spent the rest of the day searching for a new hotel that would be able accommodate the rest of our stay. Most hotels were full by the time we got there and driving around a city we didn't know was very stressful.

Hotwire put me through hell on this vacation. I wonder why a hotel that is so rundown is recommended by a large company such as Expedia & Hotwire? Do they have no standards for their customers? Do they not care about their customers' safety? The lack of customer service is ridiculous! My expectation as a repeat customer is a refund.

Am new to Hotwire. My first booking was for a CDG airport hotel using my phone browser and it worked out well with genuine savings. This is my second booking on my phone browser for a hotel in Milan. I actually already had this hotel as a free cancellation reservation on booking.com for the SAME price. The crossed out price on Hotwire indicated that I was savings hundreds of dollars but I did not save anything. Nada, zilch. I am actually worse off and feel totally ripped off and of course, they say that it is non-refundable.

The booking and payment screen did not say that the discount was off other hotels. I was told on the phone that there should have been an asterisk near the price that explained that the discount is off other hotels in the area, not that hotel. I did not see this on either of the screens I used and even went back to check after I spoke with them. Seriously, what's the point if you won't save off the actual hotel. Isn't that why it's a secret hotel, because the hotel doesn't want to reveal itself and undermine its sales elsewhere?

I logged onto a computer browser hours later to see the disclaimer in small print right at the bottom of the home page, so not exactly where it is readily visible when customers search and book. Even so, to have no savings whatsoever and be worse off because now we have paid over 10 months in advance for a non-cancellable booking which costs the same as a fully cancellable booking is unconscionable on the part of Hotwire. We are going on an 8 weeks trip and had thought to use Hotwire extensively but won't touch them again now. Their customer reps just will not assist with the situation merely reiterating that it is non-refundable. Even under these circumstances when we've been clearly misled to believe that we would be better off booking through them. This is classic misleading and deceptive conduct by Hotwire.

The hotel I was booked in was listed for $120 and I paid $108. When I checked other sites the hotel was also listed for $120 and when I called the hotel, they said that $119 is their regular price. No savings of 66% off at all. When I called to speak with customer service I got told sorry no refunds and that the rates of the hotel change often. A bunch of BS. We were going to stay the night in Annapolis, MD. I visited Hotwire's website and booked a hotel in Annapolis for that night. The issue is that Hotwire doesn't actually say what hotel you will get until you make the purchase. Hotwire goes by the stars and location once selected. So I booked the hotel thinking it was going to be Annapolis because Hotwire's website read it was going to be an Annapolis location. And after it was booked it was then revealed that my hotel reservation was a hour away in Columbia, MD.

I immediately called their 1-800 number and tried to talk to a representative what happened. The representative hung up on me. I then called back a second time and spoke to another representative. She tried to help, but wanted to book a hotel that was even farther. When asked to speak to her supervisor, she hangs up as well. At that point, we decided to head home.

When I got home that night, I called Hotwire to meet a resolution with this matter. Hotwire states the reservation cannot be refundable even though their booking website was deceptive and mentioned that I did see that the hotel reservation cannot be refundable. I then explained that I had no intention to get a refund because their website claimed I was getting a hotel in Annapolis and not somewhere else. He then explained Annapolis was booked up for that night. My issue is that if Annapolis was booked up for that night then why didn't Hotwire's website state no available hotels as opposed being deceptive.

I just wanted to write and say how I am VERY disappointed with Hotwire and will NOT be booking through them again. I booked 2 hotels in Los Angeles for a trip last week which I ended up having to cut short due to the death of my 17 year old cousin from Brain Cancer. When I called up to ask for a refund or credit so we can go back to these hotels when we re-book in June, I was told that all I had to do was fax in an obituary notice and that deaths in the family are the only exceptions to the refunds.

Once I did this, I was informed that first cousins aren't considered as "close family members" and that they would NOT refund me or give me credit. My cousin was like a sister to me and was the definition of a CLOSE FAMILY MEMBER. When I called the actual hotel themselves, they even told me that the only way to get a refund was if Hotwire contacted their manager so they could adjust the cost and refund the money. I am VERY upset with this whole situation and do not plan on booking with them again. I am posting my issue with them in hopes to help other people understand what kind of company they are and how little compassion they have towards their customers.

My story is rather lengthy and convoluted. To be short, Hotwire's telephone agents were unable to put together a vacation package for me. This inability took them over an hour and several misplaced transferred phone calls. I finally booked the package online. When I attempted to re-contact Hotwire, I was hung up on 3 times and transferred to incorrect people and given an incorrect email address to contact them. Finally I was given an Expedia email address as Expedia owns Hotwire and I was directed to contact them.

I have sent them 7 emails, all being met with totally unacceptable responses, such as they have no record of me, despite the fact they sent me emails confirming my trip and charged my credit card. All the emails demonstrate that no one took the time to read the emails I sent with all the necessary background information. I have tried, without success, to reach an executive at the company to discuss this horrible example of customer disservice. I guess this is just typical of the operation. I will never use Hotwire or Expedia again, and will attempt to tell as many people as possible to stay away from them.

I had to wait for 1 hour before I could check in, because they did not receive the reservation from Hotwire. BUT the worse thing when we should have our breakfast. I went down with 4 adults and 6 kids. I got the message from the reception that I had no free breakfast. I said I would call the Hotwire support and fix this situation.

I called the support and they could "not" get hold on the hotel. But I could make a complaint that I got no breakfast. Then I had 6 kids and 3 adults waiting for me downstairs. I went eating breakfast another place. When I was writing a complaint to hotwire and call them they said that I had free breakfast. So I have gotten NONE refund because it is in their system says I have free breakfast. So I can't do anything more. I had made 5 mails and 3 phone calls now. AND THEY CAN NOT HELP ME.

I would like to show you my dissatisfaction with Hotwire. The advertise good or great hotels for very interesting prices. The customer must take a chance and blindly make a reservation, in return for excellent discounts. Well, I've made my blind reservation and I am completely unsatisfied. Especially because I am paying 99 dollars per night, while the same hotel offers an 89-dollar rate on their website. Unfortunately, according to the Hotwire rules and policies, I am not allowed to cancel my reservation.

I write to them and they answered: "Hotwire is able to bring you low rates by listing them anonymously and guaranteeing to our hotel partners that reservations will be used as booked. Therefore, our Hot Rates are non-refundable and non-changeable. I can assure you that your Hotwire Hot Rate was booked at a great savings, which is why it is backed by our Low Price Guarantee." But this is not true because I found the same price in Booking.com with FREE CANCELLATION.

When booking the hotel, Hotwire states that the hotel has a resort fee of approximately $17 and includes "free" internet. To make a long story short the hotel charged $23 a day resort fee and $18 a day for self parking. When you add the costs plus tax it added $45.05 a day that I had to pay at the end of our stay. Hotwire does not disclose that an additional self parking fee would also be charged. They also claimed "free" internet, which was false because you get the Internet as part of your $23 a day plus tax resort fee, so it's not free. I am furious that I trusted Hotwire and planned to pay approximately $20 a day at the end of my stay, not $45 a day.

When confronting the hotel about the charges they stated it was Hotwire's responsibility for not disclosing all the additional costs. In the end we ended up paying more than we were told or planned for and we dealt with a room that had bugs, which nobody came to take care of and upon leaving they told us they would make sure to take care of it before the next guests arrive.

Two MAJOR issues. 1. They advertise a greater % off than is the case. If you search the price of your hotel on their own site after booking with Hotwire, they're likely comparable rates with nowhere near the savings stated. However, this seems to be under Hotwire policy, as the % off is of the AVERAGE hotel price in the area. Of course, they enlist one highly priced hotel to jack up the average of that area and hotel class and seldom ever offer a single room in that hotel, meanwhile always offering plenty of rooms at the lower priced hotels where its barely (if any) savings at all to book with them. This a very simplistic and fairly unethical trick on their part. However, since their policy states that they're allowed to do their math like this, they can easily trick consumers into thinking they're getting 30-70% off great hotels, when really, they're not. Highly unethical, and highly deceptive. But legal.

    2. What's worse is the illegal false advertising. Now that you've booked your hotel, thinking you may get the sweet deal like the "last customer" as advertised, but got the dud with no savings instead, well you're left thinking like you were just unlucky. Not true, as stated in the first problem with the site above, the odds are stacked against you. The real problem lies in now checking back at that same deal, which is still available in your unlucky dud hotel, BUT, "the last customer" still got that nice fancy one for a great price.

How could this be, since you were the last customer. Hotwire customer support says "Oh, this is just a refresh issues, and the system hasn't been updated." If that were the case, Hotwire's own system wouldn't automatically log you off of your great deal when another customer has booked it and say "This deal has expired, we CONSTANTLY update rates, and deals, because they're such hot commodities and sell fast." Oh really, but with those updates you DON'T update what "The Last Customer Got..." EVER. I was the last customer, several times on this site, and had new tabs open, and tested their system checking if it would update for me (the new customer) what the last customer (also me) got, not the case. The system updates, but they leave that juicy sounding hotel right there in the "Last Customer Got” indefinitely, so long as the deal is up.

This is a flat out LIE, and they do it on purpose. It is false advertising, and intentional customer deception. This is not a trustworthy business model and angry customers are bound to figure their game out sooner or later. I highly advise staying away from this site, and taking action against them if you can. In CONCLUSION, you may snag a decent deal here or there, and see it as a useful tool in the short run. But you've just had some luck. In the long run, and for the aggregate customer on average, the site will leave you deceived and disappointed like a rigged shell game on a street corner.

So I called them - got disconnected the first time when connecting to a supervisor (and again subsequently in a later call). I was told the process to file for their low price guarantee.

I didn't know they had one and had called to get the booking cancelled because of the poor process of having a lower rate on their own damn site and the lack of listing the amenity on the standard site. When revealed it was the Radisson Prado which I could have booked direct for only 2.5% more, YES 2.5% NOT 46% less as Hotwire misleadingly advertise. Worse, the hotel has bad reviews - dark dingy small rooms and other problems. Dealing direct with the hotel I might have paid $10 more but at least I could have negotiated a good room.

Responses to complaints at Hotwire customer service are with the usual robot text not addressing the issue. Eventually after many mails I got a human to respond, but they couldn't read English well and so their reply was useless. The end result is they refuse to cancel-refund-nor exchange for another hotel. Their secret deal advertising is intended to mislead and deceive, therefore better avoided. Such sharp practice tactics in a high street store would be prosecuted... but hiding behind the internet screen there's nothing to be done except report them to the hotel group in the hope they will respond cancelling the contract for its negative repercussions upon the hotel.

The woman with whom I spoke said that she had no way of knowing that information. She instructed me to purchase the room online, and if it didn't have a hot tub, call back and cancel. I could then try a different hotel and go through the process again. I made the reservation, the hotel did not have a hot tub, I called Hotwire to cancel, but I was instructed that the room could not be cancelled per their cancellation policy.

I said that this was unacceptable and requested to speak with a supervisor. She was not much help; she offered a $50 credit toward my next Hotwire reservation, and I said that was unacceptable. She said that all of the phone calls are recorded, so she would attempt to get a transcript of the call I had with the representative who instructed me to make the purchase. I never heard back nor did I get the $50 credit. I spent over an hour trying to get this matter resolved with Hotwire.

Once I got to the hotel in New Orleans, I was thoroughly disappointed. The room was tiny, not clean, and the breakfast that was advertised on the Hotwire Website was not edible. I understand the terms of "hot rate" deals and the hotel we were assigned to looks beautiful, but... never did I imagine she would be assigned a room with bunk beds! She is disabled and this would not work out for her. I called the hotel to see if we could upgrade her room and they explained that because we booked through a third party (Hotwire), there was nothing they can do.

I called Hotwire customer service 3 times and I've written to them 3 times. I get a different person each time, each one as unhelpful as the next. They must be responding with computer generated solutions to keywords. I have yet to receive any kind of confirmation that any changes have been made. I just want confirmation that her room has been upgraded and I am willing to pay additional charges even though it seems unlawful to rent a room with bunk beds without disclosing in the terms and conditions that bunk beds are a possibility. Additionally, at that price we would have been better off booking directly with the hotel. What do elderly guests and/or guests with disabilities do in this case?

Well somehow by me clicking book I gave my info and money and after that THEY CHANGED the state of my hotel on me. So I called back couple hours later and they say I need to call back in 24 hours for me to be in system. Well now it’s been over 24 hours and they said I waited too long and they WON'T give me my money. They're a horrible business who just wants to take your money. I'll be going to PRICELINE now. Hotwire was horrible booking and talking to the workers they have. Overall I give them a F. Sad how they would do that to their consumers.

I am putting Hotwire on full blast!!! Their site gives you the option of picking quotes and charges in Canadian dollars but they go right on ahead and charge you in US dollars. This is highly unethical!!! Who gives them the right to give you the option of choosing Canadian dollars and then charging you something else? Then they charge you right away and later send you an email saying all quotes are in US dollars (in fine print mind you). When you call them to get the matter fixed they have the worst customer service and then give you a handful of invalid excuses that they back track on when you prove them wrong. All in all, thanks for nothing and glad you can trick my family...y'all happy you could basically steal $300 from us? Hope you're happy with yourselves. Heads up to all Canadians they don't care as long as they get their US DOLLARS.

I booked a flight with Hotwire to Atlanta. Due to unforeseen circumstances I had to change my dates for which they said they would charge me $200 plus fare changes. I agreed. So she gave me all segments on Air Canada. I usually like to trust people and assumed the lady knew her job well and was giving me the best options so I told her to go ahead. My boyfriend was simultaneously looking for flights on Hotwire too and he found me a flight that was 50$ cheaper and had more convenient times.

It was United one way and Air Canada on return. All this within literally 30 secs after I said "ok I will take it". When I asked the lady to give me that flight she said the tickets had already been changed and she would have to charge me another 200$ for the change. When I told her it wasn't my fault that she didn't give me the different option, she started screaming at me and saying she wouldn't be able to have given me the flights anyways because of their policy. So I asked her to read out the policy and the policy stated that "at least one segment of the change flight should be the same as that of the initial airline". Which it was. In fact, 2 segments were Air Canada. She continuously refused to be able to do anything so I asked her to escalate me to her manager.

Her manager gets back to me after 20 mins of waiting and right away starts to tell me how nothing can be done unless I pay more. I explained the whole situation to her and told her that it wasn't about the money. It was about the employees not giving the right information to the customers. All in all nothing changed. I am left feeling frustrated and exploited. Never using Hotwire again and I won't ever recommend it to anybody either. I tried to save a few dollars by booking on Hotwire but ended up being ripped off :(

Hotwire.com deal was no deal. I was renting a car for my wife and went to the Hotwire.com site and went through the process and found the taxes for midway were $100 approximately. On a sidebar Hotwire.com had a special or deal for a cheaper price. So I clicked on it. The price was $60 lower due to reduced tax cost. Taxes were "estimated". I thought maybe you worked out a deal with midway. Nope. It felt like a bait and switch. You estimated the cost so, then when she gets to the airport, the taxes are still $100. Unbelievable but true. It feels like deception and fraud. You give us an estimate to get us to sign the deal then comes the real. I will never use Hotwire.com again and when I have opportunity, I will share my experience. Fortunately the car rental company adjusted the rental price to reflect the original quote from Hotwire.com. The first contact with the car rental company was non responsive. When she brought back the car, the rental agency did respond when she showed them the original paperwork. Keep your paperwork and keep presenting your case, someone might just listen and favorably respond.

Our last two experiences with Hotwire were disastrous. First we were booked into a hotel that had been closed for renovations for a month. When we called Hotwire the message said "less than 2 minute wait." Our wait was one and a half hours during which we incurred long distance and roaming charges. We were booked into another hotel that added 2 hours to our drive after our ruined evening. They gave us a credit for our troubles.

We booked again a month later in a different city. After driving for two days, we arrived and despite the fact that we had confirmations there was no reservation for us. This time it was an hour on the phone. We spoke to three representatives who had no solutions for us. They simply refunded us for the hotel charges and told us to go find ourselves another hotel as it was now after midnight and they do not book after midnight. We drove around for another 45 minutes and stopped at every hotel in the vicinity but they were all booked solid. We ended up sleeping in our car in a parking lot.

Both times we complained directly to Hotwire upon our return and both times we received the most infuriating, patronizing emails that minimized our horrible experience. Clearly these were standard "form letters" that they use for all complaints. Phone calls to them were equally unsatisfactory. They offered us more credits that didn't even cover the phone charges that we incurred.

To be fair, I had (as in previously, just today deactivated my account) used Hotwire several times, with generally good results. But the last time I used them, I feel it was deceptive tactics to get me to buy a room at a hotel, only to find out after purchasing that the parking fee at the hotel was 50% again of what I paid for the room. I called their customer "service" and talked to two levels of people only to get no satisfaction. They told me I shouldn't have expected "free" parking since it wasn't offered in the amenities. At no time did I ever say I expected free parking, especially knowing the area (Queen Anne in Seattle). They also lied to me saying that they don't know which hotel I'm going to get, which is total nonsense. They offered the price and location and the amenities, so they obviously know full well which hotel they're selling rooms for.

I had no problem with a parking fee, but when I buy a room for $73 (incl. taxes) and the parking is $36 (incl. taxes) with no forewarning, then I have a problem.

Again, I had many good experiences with them, but this last one soured me on ever using them again, especially when they lied on the phone directly to me and wouldn't offer anything to make this situation better. Compared to Priceline, Hotwire sucks.

We haul trailers for a living. We were in Scottsdale Arizona and had a flat tire on our company's 52-ft flatbed trailer. We called Hotwire to book a hotel for the night. We asked the gentleman, who spoke choppy English and spoke too fast, that we needed the nearest hotel under $100 dollars. And that we also needed it that night until the next day (March 18-19, 2015). After letting him know the amenities we required (pet-friendly, one bed, etc.), he told us there was a room available at the Holiday Inn & Suites under 10 miles away that matched our needs. The total was $92.74 after fees and taxes. Once we gave him the COMPANY card information and our email address, he told us to go directly to the Holiday Inn.

A few moments after this phone call, we receive our email from Hotwire. The itinerary showed we had booked a room at the La Quinta Inn & Suites (more than 10 miles out) for April 18-19 2015. Reading further, it also said it was non-refundable. Of course we immediately called the center back, sitting on hold for about 20-30 minutes. Once they answered, we explained what happened and why it was imperative we (1) get to a hotel and (2) needed the company's money refunded or applied to another hotel. They said there were no more rooms available in the entire city and that we had to eat the $92.74 that they charged us. After 15-20 minutes of arguing, we asked to speak to a supervisor and they said they would try and find one and put us on hold. The same person then picked up the phone and asked if we would like to re-book a hotel for the night (paying yet again and out of town).

We told them no, obviously, and that we did not want to speak to them anymore and to put the supervisor on the phone. Once the supervisor answered, we re-explained everything and he also told us we were out of luck and out $92.74 with the nearest room being out of town. He also then said that he would have to do a full investigation of the original conversation before they would even think about refunding. And that it would take at least 7-10 business days. So we are out $93, have no room in town, and have to drive a loaded trailer with a flat to the next town which, in case you didn't know, is a dangerous drive. I will never use them again. Personally, if you're going to hire someone at your call center, make sure they understand English and are competent enough to do their jobs.

I'll be fair and say that usually Hotwire is fine with hotels, as long as you research their hotels and know they bump up their ratings. With car rentals it's a completely different matter. On a couple of occasions I've been done by their hot, non-refundable deals which magically drastically reduce in price after purchase and just after the price guarantee expires. Once again, I forgot this practice and fell into the same trap and booked a car which became $100 cheaper one week later. Yes, I know we take a chance and that's their policy, but warning to all - when booking in advance there's a very good chance you'll be hit with a higher price. Hotwire argues the price of the car can go up or down but almost in every instance that I've booked with them, the price decreases after purchase. A small price differential is one thing - but $100... Watch out for their practices and by the way, their customer service staff is horrible. I'll avoid them in future.

Bed bugs, roaches, mosquitoes, a loud train in the back, dirty rooms, bathrooms, etc. It was something out of a horror tv series about nasty hotels or something. I called to inform them of this within 30 mins of booking the room, and they showed zero concern and told me that I was aware of their policy. So I forfeit what I paid for that room, since no one would ever stay there, and I had to book another room NOT through Hotwire. It is very clear that they do not monitor the quality of hotels on their site and are severely lacking in the customer service department. I am no longer a Hotwire customer.

The weary ordeal with Hotwire started at 11:30PM and never ended until nearly 1:00AM!!!! There was absolutely no reason for this to happen, and Hotwire created a very stressful experience for my wife after spending hours on the road driving. I was looking online to reserve a hotel. I noticed that Hotwire had OK prices. I called and spoke to agent Mark expressing my concerns about the city I was traveling to. I stated that I would like a hotel close to the airport because I was picking someone up very late and I had concerns about safety. The customer stated that his system is designed to automatically pick a hotel within an specified shaded area on Hotwire's webpage. He also mentioned that I should not be too far out of the way. Being this my first time I trusted Mark and proceeded to purchase a ticket online.

After I purchased my ticket I was given a hotel 4.7 miles away from the airport right on the edge of the shaded area. Because of this being my first time traveling to Newark NY and reading about the city being number 6 worst in America, wanted something close as I was promised by Mark who said that it would be. 4.7 miles away is not close So I called back and spoke to Marlo who was very very unprofessional and treated me like I was another customer. Marlo stated that he couldn't do anything for me but then he changed his mind and told me that if I purchase another room now while he is on the phone then he will refund me.

I don't understand, why would I purchase another room paying more money just to get a refund from Hotwire. I literally reserved a room 10 min before calling him. Marlo stated that he could give me 24 hours to reserve if he processes the refund now. It's a Saturday here and even if he gave me a refund today, banks do not process on Sunday so the 24 hours grace period to purchase another room would have passed. I stated that to Marlo and I also stated that I had purchased the insurance on the ticket. Marlo stated that the insurance could only be used if I'm sick or loss of job. Really?

Now I feel ripped off. The insurance said I could cancel anytime but I was told otherwise by Marlo. Then after trying to explain this Marlo changed his mind and stated that he couldn't do anything for me. I tried to talk but he continued to cut me off when I was speaking. That made me upset, how rude. HOTWIRE I WILL NEVER, NEVER BUY FROM YOU EVER AGAIN. Your company is misleading, I feel trapped and your agent Marlo was darn right disrespectful, which looks overall looks bad for your whole company. I can't believe this.

I've used this service 3 times now and was never disappointed. However, today when I purchased 3 nights in Paris (hotel was described as 3-star with advertised price of $261) for $119 per night, I was shocked when I searched the regular price of the hotel and found all websites show the price per night as $141 (including their sister website Hotels.com). A reduction in price of $22 a night is hardly worth not knowing the name, exact location and other details. It's completely misleading to compare a $147 a night hotel with one priced at $261 and had I known that, I wouldn't have made the purchase.

My concerns were escalated to a supervisor who advised me that all sales are final and I should've read the fine print which apparently states the pricing information is not based on the hotel but the area. Wow - unbelievable. I do quite a bit of travelling and have also used the same service with Priceline and have never had an issue. Hotwire has certainly lost my business and I think everyone who considers purchasing through Hotwire should be aware of this practice.

I tried to call and change the date to the 19th but waited many hours over a period of a couple of weeks before getting to speak to anyone. I eventually waited them out and got to speak with Mark. Mark had a heavy accent but had no problem understanding my problem. He informed me that I had to make any change within 24 hours and I explained I did not realize my mistake until I got home a week after the reservation and he informed me nothing could be done that I could pick up the car on the 19th as long as it was within 24 hours of the original reservation. I've used Hotwire many times in the past. The thing with Hotwire is that you can't expect much when booking a hotel through them. For example, a 4-star hotel in New York City is not going to be a large, luxurious room like some people think. You will get a queen size bed at possibly the W New York or the Westin Grand Central for around $280 a night (normally in the $350 a night range), plus taxes and service charges of around 20%. In Orlando, a 4-star was the Hyatt Regency at $169 a night, when the regular rate was $209, a decent savings, but nothing to write home about. I did get a great deal in San Francisco when I booked the Westin St Francis hotel at $139 a night, compared to the normal rate of $305 per night. The room was SMALL, under 200 square feet, but I saved a good bit of money.

The worst deal I got was at the Royal Sonesta Hotel in New Orleans, which was rated a 5-star hotel. I paid $270 a night for a old, outdated, musty room. They had renovated rooms which they wanted an additional $120 a night to upgrade to. In short, Hotwire is like gambling, it can be hit or miss. Just don't expect to stay at a Ritz Carlton, Four Seasons, or St. Regis for $150 a night, it will NEVER happen!

I booked a car rental from 6:30pm on Feb 27th to 6:30 pm on Mar 2nd. During the process of choices, I checked for many times and it showed the day span is 3 days, with the price at $30/day. Also, I added insurance which is $9 daily. I am very confident that I did it, because I discussed with my boyfriend before making this decision.

Thus, before I clicked the "confirm" button, the total price is 30 (for rental per day) *3 days + 9 (insurance)*3 days +40 (tax) = about 160. Since the total price on the confirmation was also about $160, I didn't go through the details on that day on Jan 19th. However, today I found that actually on the reservation there are two mismatches from what I selected. It changed the drop off time to be 1 hour later, so that the day span has been changed to 4 days!!! It showed no insurance in this order!!! The total amount after these two mistakes is still around $160. That was why I didn't realize it right away.

Today I called Hotwire and told them what happened to me. They rejected to do any efforts and insisted what were shown in the reservation was done by me. I explained that I am sure about my selections on both time and insurance. For example, my flight will leave Miami at 7pm, so it is impossible that I planned to return the car at 7:30pm. Then, the agent hung up the phone without any notification or solutions. This is the worst experience I have ever had with travel agency ever. The lesson is: DON'T CHOOSE HOTWIRE!

I spoke to a representative over the phone regarding this change in my reservation, and I explained that according to the current published rates at the replacement hotel (on their website), I am not receiving any kind of discount on my reservation whatsoever.

In other words, I booked through hotwire.com in order to receive a discounted rate on my booking, but due to this oversight, I am actually paying the full published rate for the alternative hotel, as per their own website. I am planning on staying in New York for an additional night (Sunday, Feb 15) and suggested that perhaps as compensation, this extra night could be added to my reservation. I was told that this was not possible, and furthermore, that nothing at all could be done to account for the difference in value and inconvenience that I am left with.

While I was offered the option of cancelling my reservation with a refund, the fact is that I am 3 days away from arriving in New York, and hotel prices have increased significantly from the time at which I booked. I would be remiss if I did not express how unacceptable I believe it is, for no accountability to be taken on Hotwire's behalf, and moreover, I am frustrated that there is an outright refusal to acknowledge the difference in value of the two reservations. I travel quite a bit, and will NEVER again book through Hotwire.

I asked the rep what would be my options. She advised that I could cancel and she would submit my request to the research team for review for a refund. She also stated that I would have to fax medical information to them. I asked if it was time sensitive because a hotel would not be on my mind while with my dad. I don't think she understood my question and stated that the research team would get back to me within 5-10 days. I explained that wasn't my question and asked if there was someone else I could speak with. She stated she could help me and asked me to repeat my question, I did. Still there was a misunderstanding.

I then told her to keep the reservation because it was too much trouble and asked if I could give the room to someone so it wouldn't feel like such a loss. She said no because it's in my name. I then said can I add a name and they use it. She explained I would have to check in first. How can I check in to a hotel if I'm visiting my dying father, was my thought. I then asked to speak with someone else four times and each time she said they would tell me the same thing. I asked her if she was denying me the chance to speak with someone else. She then stated she could help me. I asked her to keep everything the same with my account and I will try to contact a supervisor. I asked for her name and badge or employee number she told me her name was Mel and that's all she could give. Then the phone went silent. I said hello and waited a couple of minutes and there was silence.

This whole experience was extremely unprofessional in my opinion. There is no empathy for my loss and I'm denied access to a manager. I can honestly say I can never see myself using Hotwire again. This was the worse I have ever been treated while spending money. I ended my emails stating I would appreciate a response from this complaint and some type of resolution that's not going to put me in a worse situation. The response I received advised me to call THE EXACT SAME NUMBER to review their policies and procedures?!? I refused to call that number again only to go through that hassle not even 24 hours later. I honestly have more important things on my mind right now.

Actually, before booking the hotel, I tried numerous bidding of four stars grading hotel at Priceline.com but I failed to do so that I visited Hotwire. To my surprise, their deal of 4-star grading hotels was just $113 per night. Compared to Priceline, com, it was real deal, which is much lower than Priceline.com that showed their express deal from $166 to $180 per night for four stars hotels. I booked the hotel immediately. However, I found that most sites except a few indicated the hotel as a 3.5 stars grade hotel. Thus, I claimed it to Hotwire and they mentioned that Hotwire starts with Expedia star ratings.

However, according to Expedia, the grade of Kauai Beach Resort is 3.5 stars instead of 4 stars. It means deceptive Hotwire star ratings system is a definite cheating and it needs to be amended. Exasperated! I had a confirmed, printed confirmation directing me to a Budget location in downtown Salt Lake City on a recent Saturday in late January. Having flown in and rushed by cab to an appointment in the city, I then subsequently hauled all my luggage 6 blocks to the designated location, only to discover that Budget had vacated that office 2 years earlier.

When I called Budget and then Hotwire, I was first advised that I’d need to get a taxi back out to the airport, where a totally new rental could possibly be arranged. Given upcoming commitments that involved a 45 minute drive in the opposite direction to Park City, I ended up having no choice but to do exactly that expending $27 on the cab ride and then getting a new rental through Budget at the airport for $60 more than the original Hotwire quote and more than I would have gotten via a direct booking with Budget weeks earlier.

There were simply no other viable options at the time for an exhausted traveler who had already lost time and money in the process. However, later, when I later contacted Hotwire to see what they could do to demonstrate their concern about the screw-up, the most they could offer was a $20 credit toward a future Hotwire booking. Right, like there’s going to BE a future booking with Hotwire!

They had a zero fee to cancel my wife's trip and to push out a trip for many months down the road.

Hotwire was just the opposite. 1st off, you are speaking to people off shore. They wanted a death certificate, a marriage certificate, an obituary clipping, as proof of death of my mother in law. They won't let you use the funds at a later date, as I would have been happy to. They have a no refund policy, unless death. I faxed all of that information to Hotwire and I'm still waiting to hear from them. I called again, spoke to someone located off shore and got nowhere with these people. I will never use Hotwire again. The savings is not worth the aggravation if you should have to cancel. Had I booked with a car rental company directly, I would have easily been able to simply cancel my rental car. The Hotwire savings is not worth the hassle. My days of using them have come to an end.

I booked a flight with Hotwire. After booking the flight I received a confirmation email that had links to rent a car or a hotel. I clicked the link to rent a car. It ran me through options and prices, and when I had made my choice with Payless, it ran me through a number of questions. Unfortunately it never asked me what time I was going to pick up the car. The dates of pick up and drop off automatically populated with no fields to enter time of pick up. So I arrive in Sacramento at 11:30 pm and guess what, Payless is closed! So instead, my plan to pay 98 dollars and change was out the window and then payed over 300 dollars.

After this, I needed to cancel my return flight and was told it was non-refundable and non-transferable. When I booked the flight it was not clear in any way that was the case. After calling 3 times to only be treated terribly by customer service I requested to speak to a supervisor and was rudely placed on hold for 52 minutes only to hang up and do it again. Thank you Hotwire we will part bitterly.

I spent over an hour on the phone talking to Hotwire without them coming up with any solution at all. Then the hotel fortunately received a cancellation and we got a room, but not because of Hotwire. Upon receiving my confirmation I found my hotel was one block from one of the worst areas in Nashville not to mention the hotel rate was $114.00 per night for a walk in!!! No Savings and certainly not comparable to the hotels they described. This is the second time this has happened to me with Hotwire, and it will be the Last. They practice inflating rates and star ratings to give the consumer the perception of a deal and you are saving money when in fact there is no deal at all. They are just filling rooms!!!! I went to book a "Hot" Rate for a hotel in the 33462 Zip. They call this "Central Palm Beach" area. The site said that the median price of the 2.5 star hotels was $249.00 and the Hot price was $89. They said this was a 64% savings. What I got was a hotel that's rack rate was $100 for $89 a savings of 11%. I called to challenge this. I went through four different staff all of which had a different explanation of how their median rate was calculated. The first said stars had nothing to do with it but that if the median price was $249 it couldn't be a 2.5 star. The next was a little bit better but really didn't understand. The next one used the correct method and came up with a median of $175. I tried to explain to them that it wasn't that difficult to do given that there are so few hotels in the area and that only two of them were 2.5 star rating. One was $249 per night the other was $100 per night. That is a total of $349 and the correct median would be $175.

I then explained that if the median savings was 64% then if I was charged $89 for my hotel the other must be charging $37 per night for their $249 per night room. (Calculation 349 x 64% savings means the combine price of the two rooms had to be $126, deducting my room at $89 leaves you with $37.) I finally got passed onto a man who basically said that none there had enough information and that there may have been many other 2.5 star hotels included in the calculation. I explained that he had obviously not been to Hypoluxo. There aren't more than ten hotels in the whole area they define as Central Palm beach. He basically refused to listen to my points nor would he comment on my calculation, just said he didn't have the information necessary. He brusquely asked if there was anything else and was gone. Their practices are clearly deceptive and may even be fraudulent. Hopefully someone will take action.

I am very disappointed because, the last night I reserved a hotel in Barcelona and, even I know the policy and terms of this site, the information that were given did not correspond the expectations. Being more specific, this site gave the information that the hotel is in the neighborhood called "Passeig de Gracia" and, it is 5 stars. Moreover, there are other sites that offer the same hotel for a similar price. Even though the hotel is located in the neighborhood "Paseo de Gracia", it is too far from the main points of the neighborhood. In addition, the 5 stars do not correspond to other 5 stars hotels that are much well located. In conclusion, it can be said that the information given are like a false advertising. So, taking in consideration all the complaints above and, that the reservations was made less than 24 hours, I wanted to cancel this booking and they denied it!

How can I not cancel a reservation that is not near from the Passeig de Gracia? How can I not cancel something that provides false information? I know the terms of contract and it is totally abusive! Moreover, the Hotwire should know that this hotel is not a 5 stars hotel. This hotel has to be ranking in a 3 stars hotel. I know that this ranking is provided by the hotel, but the Hotwire should check if it is really a 5 stars hotel. This is a false advertising.

I also found some other deals that would only have cost me 4 more with the ability to cancel.

This certainly isn't a hotel I would have chosen but if you go in blind I didn't expect much other than the great saving. This great saving does not exist. I phoned customer services who were not interested. They told me I had to stay there and the saving is what it is. I emailed customer escalations who have not got back to me. My wife and I are now in a hotel outside of town, we only did this on the assumption of a ridiculously great deal. 4 isn't ridiculously great, why would a hotel want to hide that saving?

When I booked the hotel on Hotwire it was only 70% recommended and also said the regular price was over $170. But on most sites the max price was $110. Furthermore, the site lists similar hotels to what the deal includes. Best Western was not one of those hotel types.

Hotwire LIES about their deals. Their hotel star ratings are totally false. They still will not give a refund even though their information is wrong. I feel cheated and will not ever use this site for future travel needs. I also warned everyone I know not to use their site. You are better off booking directly to get a what you'd like. When we asked to simply transfer to another hotel closer to airport, they would only offer a higher rate, a rate that was available on the hotel's website that we were not willing to pay. They would refund our original rate of $60US for a 2 star if we would take a $90US room from the same chain for a 2 star room. In other words, if they could make money, they would 'help'.

We were on hold for an hour while a customer service rep tracked down a supervisor who was completely unhelpful. A follow-up phone call with the manager provided no resolve. Having worked in the customer service industry for 20+ years with the military, I find this company's service appalling and will never use them again. All would be fine if the price was actually 40% off... You know what even 25% off, but going through all of this in order to get a standard price for a low rated 4* hotel?? Called the support 1 minute after the reservation and asked them to cancel the order or provide another hotel that stands for their offer but they wouldn't do it. Well it's just a hotel so not a big deal but that's definitely the last time I'm booking through hotwire.com. If you research these two cars on the Internet, they aren't even competitors. According to the industry, the Ford Fusion competes against the 4-door versions of the Toyota Camry, Chevrolet Malibu, Nissan Altima, and Hyundai Sonata. Additionally, if you look up the specs on the Ford Fusion (only comes in a 4-door), and compare to the 2-door Altima, you will find that the Fusion is considerably larger.

Overall, Hotwire is miss-representing the type of car that you will actually get from the chosen vendor. Now I don't care if it is a 4-door Ford Fusion, Toyota Camry, etc. But when you are expecting a certain size of car and get one that is considerably smaller, you will feel really miss-led.

When you rent directly from car agencies they do not charge for a spouse, you don't assume a spouse will be considered an additional driver. Please ask questions so you don't have to pay additional funds as we did. We ended up paying more by renting from Hotwire. We should have rented directly from the rental car agency. To be fair, at the very end when you confirm the reservation, there was a notice that said "All prices are quoted in US dollars", however, if you are comparing prices for packages on different sites, you would not know until you go to check out. Hotwire's Customer Service, after three phone calls, three emails and after 8 days says that all four door cars are the same, and offered no explanation. Say What? NEVER AGAIN Sixt Car Rental. Never again Hotwire Car Rental either. I wish I would have seen these reviews first.

Would you believe HOTWIRE.COM would not refund my money or offer any alternatives. So, I got nothing and they got my money. A complete rip-off company.

I have used hotwire many many times for rentals, I will never ever use them again. I booked a car rental through them today 11/23/14 for Thanksgiving week. I booked it for Alamo car rental, on the Hotwire site the car agency says they accept credit/debit cards for the deposit. Since I don't have a major credit card I booked due to the disclaimer. I get to the location and all goes well until the rep asks for a major cc which I don't have. He refused my rental. I referred back to website thinking I misread but I was correct. I called hotwire and told the rep my situation. They said Alamo does accept debits but they offered to book me a rental through Enterprise which I agreed to. As I'm driving, the rep gives me the physical address and I was headed that way because it was close.

I end up at an abandoned Avis rental. I call Hotwire again because now I'm just frustrated that I went to TWO different places for a rental and they have sent me to a complete crap hole abandoned agency. I told them I was on time crunch and they offered to look for a mother place, they found one across town which would have taken me another 45 min to get to so I refused. I'm extremely frustrated that they did not have updated information or call the rental agency to let them know I was coming or to make sure they were even open. I will never use Hotwire ever again. Unfortunately due to financial circumstances, I cannot fly so that was not an option, "Thanks" Hotwire for my memorable Thanksgiving.

Hotwire runs a scam for car rental, where their computer system quotes a price then on the next screenshot raises it a few dollars figuring the customer will just pay...it's only a couple bucks a day. If you check again from another computer the first lower rate will likely remain. Continually checking from the same computer will result in a higher price (their system can see your computer or smartphone's cookies). I recommend checking prices with hotwire as a reference and then maybe try somebody else like Priceline to beat their price. Their customer service is awful and in the Philippines or something.

Now what I request from Hotwire is to reimburse some if not all of the transportation cost 258+266. If the cost of transportation were less than 100 I would not bother to express my concern for the website misleading information. It wasn't our first Hotwire.com reservation, but for sure it will be the last. I'm familiar with anonymous hotel booking procedure in order to get a discounted rate. However, this time Hotwire.com appointed us with a hotel as far as possible in the neighborhood, and the rates are simply same as the particular hotel would charge us if we're to make the reservation through hotel's website.

I've contacted the Hotwire.com customer support. However both email messages we've exchanged had bunch of pre-typed formal excuses of how the system works. They never cared about customer satisfaction, and never cared about their reputation. Perhaps that is why I'm taking my time to write this review. There are other websites offer anonymous bidding or other competitive services. I'll never go back to Hotwire.com.

In March 2014, I reserved a car through Hotwire.com from Dollar Rent-A-Car at the Munich Airport in Germany for the month of July 2014. Our reservation for the car and additional insurance policy was confirmed within 2 days. My insurance agent suggested purchasing coverage as our policy would not be valid in Europe.

We arrived at the airport July 8th at 8:00 AM tired and ready to get to our hotel and get some rest. I was instructed to print a copy of the reservation and present it at the Dollar counter upon arrival. After the agent reviewed the reservation he told me he could not honor it as it was too good of a deal. As I explained that it was a confirmed reservation, he argued that they were not going to give me a car at that rate nor would any other rental agency there in the airport.

He re-figured the rates for both in Euros and said he was including a vehicle upgrade and a tank of gas for our trouble. Under duress I signed the agreement knowing I had no recourse in a foreign country and I could dispute the charges with the credit card company when we arrived home. When I reviewed my credit card statement and saw what the actual cost was in dollars, it was clear, at double the original quoted rate, that I had been taken for a ride. I called Chase Member Services and set up a dispute. They sent a request to the Rental Agency asking them to reverse the charges but were refused. Chase told me since I signed the agreement there was nothing more they could do about it. I was disappointed in their meager attempt to satisfy me as their long term customer. Apparently the confirmation from Dollar Rental was worthless. I contacted Hotwire.com and was told the charges were determined by the rental agency and I could contact them at a phone number in Europe. This is a blatant example of misrepresentation by Hotwire and Dollar Rent a Car.

I booked a blind reservation for a 4.5 star hotel in New Orleans, which turned out to be the Sheraton. In Hotwire's own information, it refers to the Sheraton chain as part of its 4 star (NOT 4.5 star) collection. But Hotwire apparently recently created its own rating system that inflated the Sheraton to 4.5 stars. No other site that I have seen has it over 4 stars - Sheraton's own site has it at 3.9 stars. Had I known how they had changed their rating system so that a hotel like the Sheraton could be considered at this level, I would have never made this booking.

I have been a hotwire customer since near the date it was started, and I have never complained or had a problem with them. This rating system is deceptive. Tried calling customer service and spoke with a rep. who was not empowered to help - said there would be a response in "7 to 10 business days" - completely unsatisfactory when you are booking into a holiday season and you need to have your reservation system sewn up. This used to be a good site, but looks like they have gone to the dark side.

This was my first experience with Hotwire and the fact that I am taking time out of my day to write about my experience is huge, because I rarely, if ever, do this. I had heard about Hotwire through my Dad. He said that the website gives you a general idea of where the hotel is located, how much you will pay, and the star-rating of the hotel. Because the hotel is randomly generated, you pay less money for the hotel than if you were to go straight through the hotel website. I thought this sounded safe and a good way to save some money. Hotwire also makes this claim as well.

After I purchased the hotel through random generation, I discovered that the hotel I purchased was only 20 dollars more expensive then what I paid. Hotwire claimed the hotel was around a 210 dollar value per night. I ended up paying around 105 dollars with 22 dollars in tax per night for a total of 254.00 for two nights. Upon looking up the actual price of the hotel I found that the hotel only cost around $240.00 for two nights. According to the hotels site I had paid 14 dollars more for my reservation through Hotwire, excluding any hotel tax I would have paid! This was disappointing to say the least.

Once arriving at the hotel I discovered that Hotwire did not cover the hotels complementary services, which Hotwire did not make me aware of before my purchase. That was an additional $35. If I had gone through the hotel's site, the price of the room would have covered the complementary services. When reviewing my email receipt Hotwire mentioned that I would have to pay for "resort fees" upon arrival. No where did they state this before my purchase. They decided to throw this tidbit onto the receipt after I made my purchase. ON TOP of that, I was told that parking was not included, which Hotwire had indeed promised, and said was included in my purchase. Parking was around 25 dollars per day.

In the end without taking parking into consideration, I paid 289 dollars. This is 49 dollars more for my hotel room than I would have paid if I had just gone through the website due to the so called complementary services the hotel offered (which I was forced into paying for). Not only that but I was forced into paying for parking, because the hotel Hotwire chose for me did not include parking. Ultimately I paid 339 dollars in total, 85 dollars more than I had originally wished to pay. I will never go through Hotwire again. It is a scam! If you're smart you won't either!

Eventually, I was able to find a fax and sent documentation both the price drop email and copy of showing The Langham hotel for $20 less per night. The claim was denied because the initial email heading had listed a 5 star hotel, not my 4.5 star hotel. Next day, on hotwire, I see a lower daily rate for a larger car. No problem; I'll just cancel the first one and lock in the second, in that order. (At least I was smart enough to know I should do it in that order.) Found the confirmed reservation, now with verbiage I had not seen before, identifying it as a "hot rate" reservation, which cannot be cancelled or changed. What?? I get that they already charged me (which is unusual for vehicle rentals in general), but I can't change it??

Called their customer service. It's now 24 hours + or - since I made the reservation. "Nope sorry, can't cancel. You clicked the 'I agree' box. If you find exact same model at a lower rate on another site, we'll match it, that's our guarantee. But we won't match our own rates: we don't compete with ourselves." Bad review. Less than one star. I have booked trips with Hotwire for years and never had a problem until I purchased their insurance they sell where you can cancel your trip one time for any reason at all. Well, sad to say I lost my money because they fail to explain that not only will they deduct the airline fee for changing your flight which is $200 something bucks, but Hotwire also charges a $200 fee. That's a total of over $400 in fees for a $424.50 flight! This is after I'm transferred numerous times and hung up on when I give my reason to call as booking a flight using a flight credit.

I speak with a rep I could hardly understand who could not find my account at first, then once she does she tells me they didn't have any flights available for any of the dates I chose. After selecting 3 different dates that were unavailable I asked her what dates are available and she tells me they can't look and see that information. So I asked how am I supposed to book a flight if everything I select is not available and you don't know, she tells me I'm sorry. So I ask to speak with a supervisor or manager and he puts me on hold for a long time, comes back and goes back and forth with me about how there aren't any special flights available. I asked, so why is it a special flight, he couldn't explain.

I advised him that I was on their website as we were speaking and saw numerous flights available for $291. He then puts me on hold again, comes back and says that he can book the flight that I originally requested but there would be a charge of $41.17. I'm exhausted and stressed by now, so I just go ahead and agree since it's better than paying another $200-400 for an entirely new reservation. He then gives me a confirmation and tells me to look it up with Delta. I explain to them that I need a confirmation email from them because they are the ones charging me, not Delta. The Hotwire rep tells me they can't do so, and as I'm speaking with them I go online to look at my credit card transaction to see what they've done and that's where I discover the extra $200!

So I am on the phone disputing this with them and the rep offers to credit me back the charge. This didn't solve anything and wasted hours of my time. I have now lost over $400 because the remaining credit isn't worth booking anything with them. I'm so upset right now, but I had to make it my business and time to inform you all to never purchase any trip or insurance with them because it's a waste of money and who knows if you have to cancel what you'll have to go through. They have lost a frequent customer.
