I arrived for my prepaid reservation and noticed 4 representatives handling 2 customers. When it was finally my turn after 20 minutes waiting with only 1 person ahead of me I was told they had no cars. Someone else came to the counter and a representative announced that any reservation made today would not be honored.
I was told that I would have to wait until phoned. From 3 until 5:30 I waited for the 30 minute anticipated call. I never got the call but returned to see them giving cars to those just walking up. I waited in line again with one person ahead of me. The same rep who said to wait for his call said he tried to call but found that he called the wrong person. He then gave me a car at 6 PM when my prepaid reservation was for after 2. Obviously I missed by 4:00 appointment for which I rented the car.
They had a full day in advance to allocate cars to those who prepaid and reserved but, didn't bother to reserve those cars and meet their contracted commitments. Breaching contracts for me and others seemed normal. They still had 4 reps handling 1 or 2 customers at a time and at the car park to retrieve my car they had even a greater ratio of employees to customers. Sloppy, inefficient, inconsiderate and no skill in maintaining inventory. Suggest that Priceline and customers dump this trashy company.

My experience with the Fox Rent-A-Car company was awful, to say the least. Upon arriving to pick up the car there was an extremely long line with only three employees there to serve the customers. The first thing I noticed was the lack of social distancing within the business and most importantly the irresponsible use of masks by the employees themselves. After waiting in line for almost an hour I was called to the desk by a woman named Katherine to receive my rental car.
After filling out the paperwork and being charged a $400 hold to rent a car for one day, Catherine handed me the keys to a Ford fusion hybrid and told me my car was in spot four. I walked outside to get in the car and noticed one of the employees had just pulled it into spot four. In spot number four sat a Ford fusion, the same model and color as Catherine had advised my rental car would be. I proceeded to the car got in and pushed start while having the key fob in the seat next to me. I then drove to my hotel turned off the car and went upstairs to put my bags in my room before leaving for an appointment.
When going back to the car and trying to start the car again I got a message saying that keys were not present even though I had the keys in my hand. I quickly realized that I had been given either the wrong keys or the wrong car before leaving the lot. I quickly called both Fox Customer Service and Roadside Assistance and waited over an hour to get a response from anyone. I finally was able to talk to a man from Roadside Assistance and he advised me to leave the car at the hotel with the keys under the mat and a third-party tow truck would come out and receive the car since the company had mistakenly given it to us. He then advised us to take a taxi back to Fox Rent-A-Car and that we would be compensated for this as well as be able to get the correct car.
Upon arrival back to the company, we had figured out that the reason we were able to take this car was that the employee that had just pulled it up was still close enough to the car for the key fob in his pocket to allow the car to start. When we went back inside we noticed again that they were still an extremely long line and employees wearing masks improperly. After waiting about 20 minutes a manager finally came to talk to us about our situation. His name was Keith and he did absolutely nothing but make our situation worse.
When explaining what had happened Keith proceeded to laugh at my girlfriend and I and told us that it just “sucked for us”. We told him that due to his employees giving us the wrong car we missed an appointment and our only day of vacation in the Denver area. Keith did not seem to care one bit about our situation, and rather than trying to make amends told us that he could do nothing to help us and to call corporate. Keith was also not properly wearing a mask and obviously didn’t care for the safety of his employees and especially of his customers. He also told us that this was our fault and it wouldn’t have happened if we had just tried to lock the car with the keys before pulling off with it. He offered us no type of compensation and pretty much told us to get out of there.
We finally received the correct car around 4 PM when we were supposed to have it by noon. When getting in the car finally, it was extremely dirty and had obviously not been cleaned. There were scratches all over the car and dirt all over the seats and on the floor. Because it was so late in the afternoon we had no choice but to stay close in the area since our flight left early the next morning. Before returning the car we put a full tank of gas into it and had traveled approximately 50 miles total while having it in our possession. We returned the car on time and promptly left for the airport.
This morning I attempted to contact customer service as Keith had rudely told me to and was left with the same results as before. Customer service said that there was nothing they could do and had also charged us extra, falsely claiming we had left it with a half tank of gas and had put over 400 miles on the car. This is impossible as we only had the car for about 12 hours, only driving to Roxborough State Park and back. They blatantly lied and charged us extra. After arguing with the customer service associate they finally agreed to take off the fraudulent charge but refused to either refund our money or even to compensate us for the rideshare ride we had to take in order to get back to the rental lot.
My girlfriend and I are appalled by the lack of customer service and care that this company has for their customers. I can’t even imagine how many other people have had this same terrible experience as we have. I have been advised to go to the Better Business Bureau and report the situation. I still have pictures of the employees not following state-mandated coronavirus precautions as well as photos of the disgusting, dirty car we received.

I rented a car from the Miami airport and was told I could return the rental at the Orlando airport. Well they didn’t mention they don’t have a site at the Orlando airport so I had to drive to their location closest to the airport then wait on a shuttle to go back to the airport causing me to miss my flight and have to pay extra to catch the next flight.... Waited on hold with customer relation for 1 hr and 47 min to get poor customer services and be told that I should’ve gotten to the airport 3-4 hours before my flight! The airline didn’t even recommend being at the airport 3-4 hours before flight. This company is a joke and please don’t use this company unless you want to be delayed and enjoy horrible customer services!

I rented a car with the mindset that I would be taken care of because I spent a nice amount for the rental. The car had a flat and I was informed I did not have roadside assistance. I had to change the tire myself in the Phoenix, AZ heat. I had no idea I had to buy roadside assistance with my rental? It was not my car. Shouldn’t Fox provide that service with my rental? Seems like greed is entering the picture. Now they have sent me a bill for the tire and tacked on a $75 admiration fee? As I spoke with my friends, they have had similar issues with Fox. I am VERY disappointed in the way I have been treated.

DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY. NO MATTER WHO YOU GO THROUGH, DON'T SELECT THIS COMPANY AS YOUR CAR RENTAL! It's worth a few more bucks to rent somewhere else. You may THINK you're getting a good deal, but even after I paid 135 dollars on Hotwire to rent the car for 4 days in Las Vegas, I had to take 2 shuttles to get to the place after a long flight (even though they're listed as being "on-site" at the airport.) Then, no matter what state your from or what state your own auto insurance is from they'll tell you that your state is a no-fault state and that you HAVE to buy their insurance, which is, of course, way more expensive than other carriers daily rates. And even after I told her I do not want the roadside assistance, she added it to my bill anyhow! (I didn't realize it, I just assumed she would do what I asked).
The end result is for 4 days in a compact car it cost me $135 online and $453 in person when I got there. And the whole thing is so scripted, it's like she wasn't even listening to me. Like she was a telemarketer. I would bet money they get paid a commission to make sure you buy the insurance! The company is a huge scam. And everyone I talked to has told me they had a very similar experience. Trust me, pay the extra 4 bucks and rent ANYWHERE else!!!!

I rented a jeep from Fox rental in San Diego for 3 days. On the third day I went to go start the car and take myself to the airport to find that the car won't start. I called customer service to see what my options were since I needed to be at the airport and catch a flight. I was on hold for 20 minutes then decided to call roadside assistance instead. They quickly answered and said they could send someone to look at it or tow it. I explained I had to go catch a flight. He said I could leave the key with the vehicle but it would be my responsibility if anything happened to it. Frustrated, I nervously left the key hoping it would be picked up soon.
When I arrived home later that evening there was no missed calls or emails from Fox rental. I nervously called to make sure it was picked up and would be credited back at least the last day since I had to pay for myself to get to the airport (which was more than a day rental). Instead I waited on hold (listening to the recorded message that they provide the best customer service) for 1.5 hours. Then they continued to tell me that the car was never picked up. I asked that they would please look more into this matter for me. He transferred me to roadside service and I was on hold again for another 15 minutes. Finally they called the tow truck driver and verified the rental was picked up and was back the FOX rental store. He then said he does not take care of billing so I'd have to call them back tomorrow at 8:00.
I woke to find a email receipt for the full amount charged. I called billing and was on hold for another 1 and 15 minutes before I got to talk to the RUDEST customer service person. I asked to speak to another person since he was clearly frustrated. He then put me back on hold at the end of the line. I refused to waited another 1.5 hours to speak to another representative. I emailed customer service and explained the situation. They emailed back needing receipt for my ride to the airport to get any type of credit. I'm not wasting any more time with this company. So ridiculous!

I am usually very careful about reading all the fine print and what fees are entailed when renting a car. That was all well and good, and there were no surprises upon returning the rental. However, they billed me for a toll in the amount of $6.00 > admin fee of $15.00 due 7/29/2020. A week later they sent me a new balance (this is a day before the original bill was due on 7/28) and suddenly they changed it! WHY? What were the new charges? Suddenly the toll changed to $14.35 > admin fee of $30.00. THE ORIGINAL WAS NOT EVEN DUE YET. So consequently, a $6.00 toll fee with a $15.00 admin fee (just because) turned into a $44.35 transaction. I'd give them a zero if I could. The way they do business is crooked and disgusting.

We booked a car with Fox because we were trying to save money. We should have listened to the reviews which were all bad. Long story short, after a long flight, we waited in line for 2 hours only to be told they didn’t have any vehicles, let alone the specific one we reserved. Save yourself the frustration & go elsewhere.

I rented a Jeep Grand Cherokee and ended up with an old, Hyundai Santa Fe with 30k miles on it and a dented roof. It actually had sand in the back so, not sure if the car was sanitized or not. There was no one at the booth at the exit to talk with. When I returned it, I talked with someone there and they actually do not have Jeep Grand Cherokees to rent. Hmmmmm. Then, the woman said I had to buy the unlimited Sun Pass tolls for $15 as she said my EZ Pass would not work. That was a lie. EZ Pass works just fine here. Then, when I returned the car, I wanted to talk to the agent that I rented from. The only problem is the line was out the door so, I figured I would try to call their Customer Service.
Yesterday, I tried 3 times and each time the wait time is greater than 30 minutes. Today, I called and it said there were more than 10 callers in the queue. So, I tried to use the chat function online. The estimated wait time it said was greater than 84 minutes.... So, started off with the bait and switch, got lied to get another $15 out of me. And, I have no ability to get in touch with the company without spending at least an hour of my time waiting on hold... In the end, it cost me more than some of the major car rental companies and I got so much less.... DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

I rented a car online in October 2019. I had to cancel my trip and Fox refused to refund my money, instead issuing me a store credit for $437.00. I booked a rental car for a trip to Phoenix in March 2020, then the Covid 19 closed everything down, the trip was cancelled and the whole country was shut down, I called fox, on July 15. 2020, waited one hour just to speak with someone in billing, they still refused to issue me a full refund to my credit card. I told them I will not be traveling anytime soon due to the coronavirus, I won't travel until this virus is gone. They will not refund my money.
I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, posted this on every social media site I can, emailed Fox News and many other media outlets about this company taking advantage of the virus situation, thousands of people have died from this pandemic, and Fox Rental Car is one of those companies that needs to be exposed for blatant disregard for the health and safety of the American people. I have filed a lawsuit on July 15, 2020, they will not get away with this, I urge everyone to post a negative review on every social media page possible, every media outlet that you can email. Also send a email to this company, and let them know how you feel. I will never refer this company to anyone, and I will never rent a car from them, EVER!

Tement. Just their word and a letter. They will try to say you owe 80 dollars to them. For 5 dollars in tolls. Providing no proof of toll violation. They are a sketchy company. I'm reporting to the BBB as well. Not only this problem. When we got there we had to wait in line for exactly 40:minutes. With a worldwide pandemic. At least 20 people in line in a very small building. It's a joke. Customer service was terrible. Place is dirty. Save yourself time and hassle. Go with a car rental agency with a good reputation!!! Terrible. The online quote is inexpensive for the car. When you get there they add triple. What an awful experience. They need to be investigated. This was the Orlando location.

I rented the car at 9am. Drove it home. Notice the car was not cleaned inside and out. There were crumbs in back seat, a yogurt on floor and smear marks of body fluid smeared on seats. Also the car had not been washed. There were bugs all over license plate and window so I parked in my drive way. Took my other car to go shopping for our trip we were leaving in the morning. We got home. My husband tried to start it and it would not start. We even Googled how to start it and it would not start. We were on the phone with customer service several times. No help. We were on the phone with our insurance AAA and their roadside assistance for over 4 hrs. They tried to tell me I did something to the car and I will be held responsible till I told them I was on the phone with my insurance company and they were listening and they were recording everything. I told them they need to pick up car.
1 hrs later a tow truck company came. The driver could not get the car started and towed it away. This is absolutely unacceptable. They have a $500.00 hold on my card. During Covid times they're renting out dirty cars as well. Someone needs to look into this. I will follow up with corporate Monday cause this is unacceptable and try to tell me I'm liable until I told them my insurance company was recording our conversation for them to react.

Rental car booked as prepaid in order to save cost ~$30. Then attempted to change the date for one day after the original date. General support could not do anything in terms of modifying the original contract. The car also will be lost if not picked up in 12 hours period. Attempted to call billing and was on hold for two hours twice. After two hours automated voice stated that the business is closed now.
To make long story short I feel they took my money, they deliberately answer calls as slow as possible, they have very rigid company policy, and they treat their customers poorly. I lost few hundreds of dollars and will never ever rent from them again, but I’d like to urge other people to be extra cautious to avoid my situation. Personally they should not be in business or they should have quality control and customer protection oversight. BE VERY CAREFUL WITH FOX RENTAL CAR????

We picked up a rental car on Saturday at the Tampa Airport, I set up for a Jeep Cherokee or similar. I wanted a Wrangler but it said there weren’t any available. We go to pick up the car and there were a bunch of Wranglers, so I asked to change. She said it would be an upgrade fee of $14 per day, I said OK. This car was far from an UPGRADE!!!! We pull off and then notice it has roll up windows & manual locks! We had to be somewhere after waiting in line for 40 min to get the car, so we couldn’t go back & wait in the long line again to change cars. All of the Wranglers there were not this way.
Then later that night, we tried to charge our phone in the plug in and it did not work. The USB either. Such an inconvenience! When I connected my music to the USB, it shorted out after about 10 seconds every time so FM radio was the only option. I also purchased the toll pass because I was told if I didn’t, I would have to pay $15 to FOX each time, we did not even have any tolls! Overall the price was great but NOT WORTH IT!!! I WOULD HAVE PREFERRED TO PAY MORE! Then when we dropped off the car during inspection, I told them the issues and they said “Oh yea, we know that”, So my husband said “you rented it out knowing that?” And they replied ”Yes, we do it all the time”. How is this OK???? Never again!

Fox Rent A car is withholding my $150 security deposit without cause. I thoroughly cleaned the vehicle myself and filled the gas tank prior to return. All tolls were paid in cash and I have receipts for all of them. When I called to inquire about the increased charges on my final receipt, I was told I was being charged a cleaning fee, and any disputes I had would need to be filed at the location where I rented the car. The car was rented at Tampa International Airport and returned on the day of my departure.
When I informed the customer service representative that I was no longer in the same State and could not go there in person, the customer service representative stated that I had signed a contract agreeing to these terms. The contract does not indicate that disputes must be filed on site, and my pre-paid rental reservation does not indicate that a deposit would later be required.
I discovered the deposit requirement upon picking up the vehicle, and although the full contracted payment had been withheld from my account for over two weeks, it was adjusted to include the deposit fee after I picked up the car. The contract provided at the time of pick-up does not indicate the amount of deposit as an additional charge, and final receipt does not indicate that their inventory of charges includes a $150 deposit. This is deceptive advertising in the very least, and a fraudulent business practice to deny the customer a venue to dispute the cleaning fee.
At the time I dropped off the car, no paperwork was provided to me indicating the results of the inspection, although I stayed to observe the person performing inspection. I was assured there was no problem with the vehicle and told I would receive the report via e-mail. The e-mail document does not reflect my deposit and provides no explanation for the increased charges.

Fox Rent A Car Miami will ruin the beginning and end of your trip. I promise. Just Don’t Do It! Their company should be fined and permanently closed. I usually use Enterprise and my God I regret not using them. One, you will not be able to speak to a representative at no point in the process. They charge you $11.99 per day for a Florida Sun Pass instead of your actual tolls like most ethical companies. Also, they charge a refueling charge of $7.99 a gallon and will falsely accuse you of not returning the car on full. They also added three hours to to one. I returned my vehicle and then charged me more even though I was still covered for that time. They said I returned my car at 2 pm which is impossible since my flight departed Miami at 1:55, and I had to take a shuttle back to airport then a train, then a long walk to the counter to check my bag. I checked my bag in with over an hour to spare.
In addition, they lie in the return time of your vehicle. I pre-paid Everything for my vehicle including taxes and the amount was $148.00. Once I was on the way home, my email statement from FOX was $294. Now I must dispute charges with my credit card company because no matter how long you hold, they do not pick up the phone. I have been on hold for more than 2 hours. It’s a bait and switch scam. By the time you get to their location which is NOT AT THE MIAMI AIRPORT, you will have no choice but to rent from them even though you will be disgusted at their extremely high fees, long walk and train ride to the rental car area in Miami Airport, long wait for the shuttle to Fox, rocky 10 minute ride to Fox, and finally, the 40 minutes you will have to wait online. At the end of checkout, my complaints about the bait and switch were rebuttal with my representative’s snarky comment, “When you own your own company, you can make your own rules.”
I know you may be tempted because the prices SEEM lower, but there is a reason they only have 2 stars. This will ruin your trip from the beginning. Oh, and not to mention, I was supposed to have a FORD EXPLORER and I was given an old Toyota Forerunner. It was an ugly vehicle, but I was stuck with it because it had been almost two hours since I landed at the airport and I was late to my appointment. And literally as I’m typing, and I have all of my bars, my phone was just disconnected after being on hold. FIGURES!

Do not rent from this company! I feel cheated! I did make reservation via FOX Car Rentals US. IF THIS GETS RESOLVE I will POST A MORE POSITIVE REVIEW. The rental company US Fox Car Rental is affiliated with U Save Rent a Car located in San Jose – 600MTS East from Casino Fiesta, Rio Segundo. CED 3 101 602907 – CR 1005. Telephone number is (506) 2430-4648. This reservation was made via FOX Rent a Car, United States. Reservation number was WFX0368999. Invoice number is **
I rented this car from March 9, 2020 to March 23, 2020. Besides getting a whole different car than I got confirmation for, the rental charge was double from what was indicated in the original rental document. I call this ‘Bait and Switch’. Unfortunately I had to discontinue our vacation because of the Coronavirus situation and travel restrictions back to the United States. (And… we loved our stay/vacation in Costa Rica!! ☹) Because of this I needed to return the car on March 13, 2020 (early).
For the initial rental period and additional Hot Spot GPS I paid a total of $928.12. This amount included the rental fee, the Hot Spot and taxes etc. The Hot Spot was not being able to be re-charged after 1 day use. I called the Costa Rica office about this (spoke with Mr. Warren Mora) and was told that the amount paid for the Hot Spot and the car rental fee would be adjusted and returned when the car is returned. I was told that there would be a credit issued to my VISA Credit Card. This has not happened as of today!
Here is what I still expect to reimbursed for:
** 6 days car rental fee for early return** Hot Spot use ONLY 1 day because of charging issue. Paid $140 for it.
When returning the car to the rental location in San Jose, I was told by the office staff (Tiziana ** and Juan Carlos **) that these amounts will be credited back by the Manager to my Credit card. This has NOT HAPPENED YET. Our days in Costa Rica were wonderful! Unfortunately, I would like to have the above issue resolved so that we come back again to enjoy that beautiful country!

It was the worst customer service I have ever experience. Our first car - which the guy said was brand new, it had five miles on it - broke down within 10 min. The engine was smoking and we had to pull into a grocery store parking lot. We called them and an hour our second new van was on its way but then the tire popped on the highway and the guy never made it to us. So that is TWO “new” vans that broke down. We ended up sitting in the grocery store parking like for FOUR HOURS. FOUR. In the florida heat - we couldn’t start the car because it made the engine so much more worse.
They sent us around in circles calling a bunch of people that were “supposed” to help us. One of the guys who WORKED for the company even said “This is life we go through problems, we’re not in charge of any inconvenience.” When it is THEIR company. We wasted a whole day on our vacation sitting in the parking lot because nobody could “get to us” when we were about ten minutes away. Even when we tried to fight for our money back because it was a waste - they made us run around. The desk guy said to call customer service and talk to them, the guy on customer service said to talk to the desk guy. Very unprofessional. DO NOT GO HERE.
When we tried to talk and get some money back because it was obviously ridiculous- we wasted a whole day. They said they had no record of the first van. Which I have videos of us being stuck in the vans. When we were talking to the desk guy because we wanted help and he wasn’t helping - we weren’t moving until we got help - the guy upped and left his desk spot and walked out. We still stood there because we still needed help. Remind you this was a calm event. Then they called security on us. We had to leave. Absolutely no customer service. I believe they need to be shut down or talked to with how terrible they treated us.

When we returned the car, we told them that we had used it one day to go to Houston, and that there were tolls on that day. I decided not to take her “tolls pass deal” and just avoid toll roads. When signed out she marked on my paperwork in big letters... “HALF TANK”. That was weird but I thought it’s probably because she assigned a vehicle to me and she see how much gas there’s in that vehicle. She pointed me the direction to the lot and told me to go to section 8. While I was out there the guy outside told me to pick a vehicle from the section 8 and inspect its exterior and gas...IT WAS FULL TANK.
The same night I felt that something is fishy so I checked my credit card charges and saw an extra charge by FOX on the amount of 21.90 (when I rechecked my rental paperwork it was a PREPAID GAS CHARGE) besides the $1,000 hold. The next day when I got to the miami drop off location (by the way different location drop off is an extra $12.90) and asked them about that charge that I never ask for ($2.47 per gallon and I can fill it for $1.92 per gallon) they tried to ** me with all kind of crap and then the manager said that I can go and fill that quarter off a tank now and he will give me my money back...Need I say that I don’t have the time for it few hours before my flight. Shortly (yeah right! Shortly), be careful and stay off these cheap, scam places... Cheap will cost you more! The sad part is that I’m normally check online reviews and didn’t have the time to do it this time, poor me. Never again!!!

I purchased the gas upfront. When I brought back the car I was charged extra for gas because I was told the car I chose from the lot has a slight bigger tank although it was still considered a compact. Then I was told that the amount I signed for is only an “estimated” amount and I will only know the real cost once I returned the car. After I returned from my vacation I saw I was charged another $140 over the amount with no explanation. I have been trying to get in touch with customer service for 3 days now and no one picks up. I chose the option for a call back which took 1 day to receive. When I finally got the call I still had to wait on the line. Eventually I go through and someone picked up and hang up the line. I’ll never rent from them again.

Signed up for a rental with Fox Rent-a-car thru Priceline. The due at pick-up cost was $272.60. When I was signing in at the desk at the Tampa airport, I was asked if I wanted Toll Pass coverage. Not knowing the area, I asked if I needed it. Clerk asked where I was going, I stated to the Indian Shores area only. She stated, I would need it and the best buy would be to buy it for the week instead of daily. Said cost would be $58.00 for the week. I agreed to take it. When we returned car, found the total cost for Toll Pass was an additional $104.09. But here's the kicker. ALL week, there was not a toll booth in sight. NOT ONE!! We were charged $367.71. We never needed the purchase. I feel we were taken big time. Please, watch out for this company. We were totally taken advantage of. In addition, the car we were given was full of dings and scrapes. I took over 10 pictures of the dings before we took off. Angry!!

Wish I read more reviews before renting from Fox Rent-a-Car. I told the man taking care of me I didn't want any extras, just basics. When all was said and done, to my understanding the only thing I was paying extra for was an additional driver, $35. He told me three different times to "Make sure you don't fill your car up before you bring it back, because it's much cheaper for them to fill it up." He quoted me the price of gas in the city (Phoenix) and the price it would be for them to fill it up. I thought, that's easier for me???? Upon returning the car, the lady who checked me in said I shouldn't have done that, they charge upwards of $8 a gallon for gas in here. I was livid, he flat out lied to me. Not once or twice, but three times. They are liars and thieves. In the end it cost me the same as if I'd rented from Enterprise, which is exactly who will get my business next time.

I questioned all of their "tax Codes" as the individual was very vague. Tried to call customer service and of course can't get through. My friend also rented a vehicle at the same time (large group 2 cars required) through a different car provider and she was charged the exact cost of her quote. Another customer scam by rental agents at the counter. I clearly stated I will refill my own gas to the car and I declined insurance coverage and asked did he need to see my declaration of my policy I brought me? He said no. Then I get charged for both. I would not rent from this company ever again. Agents make commission off these extras services when they sell them but the problem they didn't sell them. You are charged not knowing this until you return the rental. Their insurance does not cover anything if you cause any problem to the car. Example flat tires all four of them. A jeep Laredo is an expensive claim. This happened in Orlando Airport location. I was using Google maps and it took out the entrance and it was dark out with No gate and it punctured all four tires and I have a bill from them for $787.50. I was charged for insurance I declined that didn't even cover this claim. The slap in the face is when on Duty Manager says to me, Don't feel bad, this happens at least once a week here!" I split my time between 2 states but have a Nevada license which is my primary residence. It doesn't pay to own a car either place so I rent when a car is needed. I recently rented a SUV and because I have a Las Vegas address, I was charged a $1000 hold on my credit card. Really???? They have a lot better chance catching up with a local on an issue than someone thousands of miles away, yet they punish a local. Then they charge airport service fees for a local renting off site of airport, who doesn't need to use transport service. That has got to be illegal, gouging a resident for fees for services not used.
Rent a smaller car and they don't put a hold for a thousand dollars ($1000) on your card. What's the difference. $1000 isn't going to cover a total loss on any vehicle. I started using Fox years ago and was always treated with respect and dignity, not like a thief in the night when renting a car. People who have insurance losses rent locally all the time. Why is it such an oddity in the eyes of Fox.
So it makes a lot of sense to charge a local a premium credit card hold of $1000 based on the car you rent while tourists pay the same hold fees, no matter what they rent. There's not another rental car company I have used in Las Vegas that charges a local for airport fees, transportation fees and taxes when you live locally. This place really should be investigated by the state. It is true what everyone says about long waiting lines, trying to upsell you and dragging out the rental process at all locations.
I don't know who is at the helm these days at Fox but they should go undercover and see how people are treated and embarrassed. They also run your credit without asking. I have a score in 800 and they are always telling me it is low so there might be an extra fee. Since when are car rental rates predicated on someone's credit history when paying with credit card. What business is it of theirs anyways what a person's credit score is. I don't know what happened to this company but the $1000 hold thing was the last straw and hundreds of dollars for airport fees etc that are charged when the facilities are not used. Bye Bye Fox after 20+ years.

I was involved in an incident on the way I returned the car in hurry. Fortunately, my auto insurance covered all the damages and paid a total amount of $13,092.86 except a charge called Loss of Use. My insurance believed this charge is illegal since the Administration fee they paid already includes this cost. Also, this charge was not listed as an item in the rental lease. Loved the rate when I booked online to Austin Tx. They put the fear in your mind about the cost of going paying Tolls. Their cheapest PRE PAID plan to cover Tolls was $58.00! Not knowing the area, we took it. Found out that Tolls were only about $1.00 each and my Son In Law said we probably went thru 1 Toll at the most. Woman at the counter told us she lived in the same town as our Hotel and that we would hit Tolls for sure.
Second, they scare you into thinking that if you don't PRE PAY the fuel at their site for $2.12/gal, you'd be sorry because off site rates were much higher. Oh really? Fueled up just outside the airport entrance on the way to return the car and it was $1.99/gal, as it was in most stations in the Austin area. Tell me? Where do these overcharges go? What a scam. They lure you in with a low rate then get you on the other side when it's time to pick up your car. Taking advantage of people from out of town who don't know any better. We rented a car from Fox rental online at Airportrentals.com for pick up at Liberia Airport in Costa Rica. When we got to the airport every other rental car company had a booth except Fox. We were hustled away with our luggage to a person that had a sheet with our names and told us there were no cars available even though we had a reservation. They would drive us to our destination and we could rent a car there. They told us they had no cars and no other company had cars as it was a very busy time. And they said that if other companies did have cars they would be very expensive and try to scam us on the total cost.
We grabbed our luggage back and found another company that somehow, magically, had cars. It was Budget Rent a Car. I am surprised to read other reviews that actually rented cars from Fox as I was sure there was no real company since we couldn't find a counter, office or contact other than the people trying to scam us. Even worse is that there was still a charge for the insurance even though we never got a car. Airportrentals.com should be ashamed to allow Fox to be on their website as a legitimate company. I will deal with them next. My advice is don't try to go cheap and stay away from Fox. You get what you pay for. Stick with known national brands.

First off let me start off by saying that I am a flight attendant. I rent cars almost 2/3 times a month for at least 2 day. I am a reward member for all the major companies. I chose Fox in Austin Airport to rent from to save money. I rented a car in a Monday until Wednesday. I already knew that the prices at all the companies would be high. Fox was significantly cheaper. After reading some reviews online, I made sure the car was spotless when I returned. I actually went to a car wash and washed and vacuumed out the car just to make sure they wouldn’t try and charge me. When I went to return the car the representative said it reeked of smoke... Mind you, I’m still parking the car and the window is not even half way down. She fanning and everything. I’m like huh??? But she has a smile on her face.
I open the door and she just starts talking about the no smoking signs and all this and that. Since she smiling, and I know damn well I don’t smoke, I started laughing with her and got out the car because I thought she was joking. I’m lowkey in a rush because I have a flight to catch, so I go straight to the trunk to get my luggage. She then says that she’s going to have to charge me a $250 fee for smoke. I’m in shock! Because the car actually has a very strong fragrant smell from I’m guessing when Fox cleaned the car. Almost like the new car scent. When I went to the car wash, it was an automatic drive thru type with free vacuums. I didn’t spray a thing. The entire time y’all she is smiling, giggling, looking around, and just acting nervous and/or anxious.
So anyway, I go to her and ask her is she’s serious. She says, "Yes it’s strong man." And she’s literally standing there smiling fanning her face, outside in this airport garage saying, "wheww" all animated as if I just had a cigar party and cake to the airport. So at this point I am bewildered because I’m trying to make sure this is real life right now. I’m like..."Ma’am you’re joking. You can almost choke on whatever air freshener y’all previously used in this car before ma’am," which is what I said to her. She then goes to open the back door, because I had a fusion hybrid, and whilst still smiling she fans her face again as if she just got a big whoosh of smoke in her face. She says, "Sir it’s bad. It’s so smokey, my manager just went to check on more vehicles. We are going to have to charge you."
At this point I’m getting frustrated because I know damn well she’s not about to charge me for smoking, I have a flight to catch, and my feet hurt and I’m tired. She walks off hurriedly. I’m still standing there but a couple just rented a car and started to walk by. I asked them if they could smell smoke. They were shock as well because they couldn’t smell smoke at all. They actually started to get worried and decided to make a VIDEO of their car before they drove off. The Fox rep whose name I will not disclose here, came back with this same damn smile!!!! That’s what was pissing me off! Because instantly my intuition kicked in and I knew that this was some type of scam from the beginning. Like she knew she was going to try and charge me for something. Because when she came back, the issue wasn’t smoke.
She then says that she can’t re rent the car because she doesn’t RECOGNIZE THE FRAGRANCE in the car. She doesn’t think it’s a Fox product and therefore can’t re rent it. I looked at her and said, "Ma’am I have to leave and cannot miss my flight. You know that car is perfect. Don’t do me like that." She says she doesn’t know, WHILE STILL SMILING AND ALL NERVOUS, her manager will have the final say and now he’s gone for the day. I get home and see there’s a $75 detailing charge. I call Fox and waited for exactly 39 minutes. 39 minutes!!! The rep on the phone said the fee I was charged was for cleaning not for smoking. She had to email the location before she could do anything else. She said in 2 days she would call me. It’s been 7.
I called earlier and was on hold for 32 min before I was hung up on. I am currently while typing this complaint on hold and have been hold for 44 minutes. Petty I know and I’m just going to end up disputing this charge. But I’m pissed. Because the whole time like I knew it was a set up. But I couldn’t stay there to really fight it scared that I would miss my flight.

I rent cars regularly for work. Having a great deal of experience in customer service I consider myself as someone who is fair in their assessments when looking at other companies. This is our second time renting from them and normally I would not complain to this extent but after the past few hours I feel that this needs to be posted. We rented a car in Tampa and I will say the gentleman at the desk was nice and helpful. Normally that would deem 2 stars but the experience with the car and their phone service was beyond awful. We received our rental in Tampa airport and because it was late and we had to drive 45 minutes to our hotel we did our walk around for the physical damage inspection and then got in. Once we pulled out from the airport we started to notice a fishy odor so we opened the windows in hopes of not wanting to be picky and thinking it would help.
We decided to stop at Walmart before going to our hotel to get a Febreze spray which did not help. The next day when we got into the car the smell was still bad like rotting fish and urine. We called the customer service line to ask if they could send us a replacement but they said only if something was wrong with the vehicle that would cause it to not work. We told the women that we read online that a fish smell can be from antifreeze and she responded that she would have to send us to roadside assistance. We had to wait again on hold. Meanwhile we rented this vehicle for an enrollment at a company that one of us inevitably misses an hour of work from a job that is 100% commission.
When roadside assistance picked up they told me they could said someone to look at it but if nothing was physically wrong with the car then we would have to pay the towing costs. We called back customer service and asked for a manager and said that we thought a business would be more concerned about the fact that its customers could be breathing in antifreeze or mold and that we could have potential clients in the car, later in the week children, etc. His response was that he would call the airport location and tell them to reach out but they probably would have to let us know a time and date we could come by to switch the car out but they would not bring 1 to switch out.
We have never been so disgusted with service or a product. We are probably breathing in toxins and still have not heard anything back. We are on our 5th call back and have no solution. Do not rent from this company for the sake of your health. We are under the impression they do not clean the vehicles. The cheap rate is not worth the risk. The hidden fees, the numerous long waits, and lack of customer service is beyond disappointing. We hope we do not get sick.

We had to wait in line for over 45 minutes to get the rental car. There were only 3 people in front of us. We had to wait at the exit as well. It was over an hour from when we first got in line until we could actually leave. Lastly, they took money from my security deposit ("only" $9) and wouldn't explain what it was from. They said there was nothing being taken from it but that they were only giving me back part of the deposit. I have receipts that I paid everything and there's no damage to the car. The person at the return couldn't explain it to me. She just told me to call. So I called - and as you guessed it, I had to wait on the phone for a while. I am STILL waiting to talk to someone. I look today at my invoice and see I was charged $10 a day. I call the 1-800 number that is shown on the invoice and the girl I spoke with was extremely rude and unprofessional. The girl was of no help and when I asked to clarify she got a attitude. I will be reporting this to the BBB. I would not recommend.

Finally they offered a store credit of $50 that you really cannot use. I just tried using it and they told me I could not use it for any payments other than very specific types of bookings. I really am fed up with this company. Called dozens of times. Emailed hundreds of times. No one can help. They all use the line "there is nothing I can do."

We flew into Salt Lake City airport at night and it was 2 hours before we left with the rental car. Must have only 1 shuttle. It was full when we arrived at the pick up site at the airport. Waited 25 minutes for it to return. Long line at rental counter. Very slow process. Rental agents were unconcerned about customer service. When we finally got the keys to the car, we had to de-ice it, inspect it in very poor lighting.
The car itself was ok. The return process was terrible. There was no one to check the car in. Went inside and were told there was a lady checking the cars in. She was nowhere in sight. Went back inside and they said she must be on break. They told us to leave the key in the car and she would email us our statement of charges. Over 24 hours later we received the statement with higher charges than expected charge codes that were not explained. There are hidden fees. They charge you to turn a car in early. The man behind us in the car line said to be sure and take pictures or a video of the car. He was charged for 2 pet hairs found in the car and he didn't have any animals in the car. We will not rent from Fox Rental Cars again. The pricing my look good on the front end, but the hidden charges and the time involved is definitely not worth it!

Staff is poorly trained, defensive and without basic knowledge of vehicle inventory. There were actually several vehicles matching our reservation in the lot but staff said "we don't have any keys". Never did talk with anyone. Arrived at their location and waited almost 2 hours in line for a car that I had booked and paid for 2 months prior. Once we finally got the car it had a horrific smell. Being late at this point I figured we could run the a/c and open the windows to dissipate it. That did not work. We tried everything the next morning including Extra Strength Fabreeze and a vent air freshener but to no avail. I traded it in 2 days later while passing thru for another vehicle. It took over an hour once we got to the counter as person kept having problems and losing information. I had to finally go sit down by door. When we left they would not let us mark all the scratches. Also sat at exit building for 20 minutes while they had two cars turn around and pull out of line. They said mark the scratches and bring back with us when checking out. This did not even make sense and made me nervous.
We marked the scratches when checking out a week later and the guy just said, "We don't need that". If we had dented any place I'm not sure what would have happened. We were only going to use the car a couple times so thought the price was good. We were right down at Tahiati Village so not much driving. I am 76 years old so don't drive in places like Las Vegas. My husband rented a car for our 25 yr old daughter in Austin TX, a few months ago. My daughter has been getting threatening letters about sending her to collections, in the meantime.
Now, USAA had paid, but Fox says there's a balance of $787. What?? For what? We have never received a breakdown of costs, so this could be totally arbitrary!! They say you are liable for any damage, regardless of whose fault it is. My daughter declined the insurance at time of rental, because we have coverage through our credit card. But they are saying regardless of fault, and regardless of how much they choose to charge for a repair, and regardless of if the at-fault party's insurance pays the whole amount, the renter has to pay the rest - without question! This is just plain wrong. We will NEVER rent from FOX again. Beware!!!

When we picked up the car, it seemed okay. Quite a few up-charges, but that is what it is. I had left my partner and two preschoolers waiting for me so that I could go pick up the rental from the other side of the airport. I drove back to the terminal to pick them up, and the car stopped working. Okay, I figured. I’ll call roadside assistance while I run back to the other side of the airport and leave the kids in the car with my partner for a few minutes while I go tell them what happened and get something different.
Management (Mike) was a total nightmare. No empathy. No solutions. Just “wait for roadside assistance and then we can look at the car and decide what to do.” How long until it would arrive? No clue. I had had the car for 5 minutes. I was still on airport property. I had two little kids sitting in a broken down vehicle in an illegal parking spot. Their customer service department had a perfectly reasonable solution of having a staff member coming over to the car in another vehicle and taking possession and waiting for their tow, and trading my family out another working vehicle. Mike stated to me, “why would we do that?”
So, my kids sat in a hot car sleeping for 3 and a half hours while I waited for their tow truck. At which point we couldn’t even be brought straight to the rental office. We had to ride with him to the tow center, take our car seats out, Reinstall them into another car. Get a ride back. Take the car seats out. Get a different car. Reinstall car seats. Finally. Finally. After 4 and a half hours, leave the airport.
Honestly, all the other people working there were perfectly pleasant. The manager is not, and should not have a job making any decisions about customer service. We will not spend our money on this company again, and we will make sure others know our experience so they can make informed decisions for themselves. Trust the 2 stars the company has. It’s obviously for a reason.

He offered us an insurance coverage, but we informed him that we do not need that because we are fully covered by our credit card company. We just want to sign up for the “Plate Pass.” Mohammed added the “Plate Pass,” and asked us to sign electronically, while carrying on a conversation.
Two weeks later, we have received an invoice for an unpaid balance on the rental. The unpaid balance was for the insurance coverage that we clearly declined, but was added to our invoice without our knowledge. We have attempted to dispute the charge but FOX Rent-A-Car is not cooperating and has threatened to send us to a credit collection service. However, I was not in a rush so I had no complaint with this and immediately drove to a station and put gas in. I returned the car with more gas in it than I had received and, again, I had no complaint as I regarded this as fair.
However, my account was charged $7.99/gallon gas charge resulting in $67 of added charge. When I spoke to their customer service, the rep stated “Do you have any proof the tank was empty when you received and returned car with more gas in it than you received?” This created a bad impression that I was dealing with a cynical employee who was implying my statements were false. After contesting this disposition and stating I owned my own business and received customer complaints with assumption they were in good faith. She then returned to the line with offer they would charge fair market value $3/gallon and I declined her offer.
It was not the money that was the source of my complaint - it was the principle of being charged for gas when I returned the car with more gas in it than I received. In the end - I regard this as low level theft, similar to experience of a finding out a casual friend/associate is a petty thief. I feel sorry for them they conduct themselves in such a small manner, but I disassociate from them and advise others to beware of low level thief.

Just a friendly reminder that if you pre-pay for a rental and for some unforeseen reason you have to cancel, FOX Rent A Car, WILL NOT REFUND your money regardless of any reason you might have. Canceled my reservations 5 (five) weeks in advance of my reservation date and their response was, "Ok - we'll give you a credit." Credit is good for only 1(one) year so if you can't go within that year - guess what - YOU LOST YOUR MONEY!!!! By the way - they don't tell you that when you make your reservations either. The only time they inform you is when you have already paid and they send you a confirmation of the rental and the notice is on the very bottom of the email. Rent wisely or it might cost you.

I rented a car from Fox Rent a Car at the San Diego airport. I was told by the agent, and it was stated on the written contract, to return the car at the assigned date & time. I did so, but was charged a late fee because I had picked up the car a couple of hours earlier than expected. I informed Fox that the agent and the contract noted the return date & time and that I had complied. Fox's response was "Too bad, you should have read the fine print which allows us to charge you late fees." I complained and was told by the manager, "Go ahead and sue us." I had to submit a legal demand letter to Fox to finally get my fees returned. Terrible customer treatment!

We reserved a RAV4 months in advance to pick up in Tampa, FL. The RAV4 was not available and they offered a sedan in its place. We needed the SUV space for a large box we were carrying. After much delay and "going to the manager" we got a Dodge Journey. It was filthy with white paint splatter all over the black vehicle. The inside of the windshield was so dirty we had to stop to clean it so that we could see. The vehicle was unsafe to drive, requiring constant attention to the steering which wandered. The vehicle also used almost twice the fuel the reserved RAV$ would have used. An email to the manager at Tampa received no reply. Several calls to the rental agency with extended wait periods ended up in the girl saying she would look at it and hung up on me. FOX has had the auto reserved 1 of 3 times we have used them...a waste of time in my opinion.

As it started to dry, it smelled like cat pee and that is after the 3 air fresheners I bought because I couldn't drive it. How this company stays in business without being investigated by the Attorney General's office is unbelievable. We booked a car after a trip, for 4 days so we could visit family 3 hours away from where our cruise ended. The ship came in a little late and went to the airport where we were shuttled to their off airport location at 10 am. The look of horror was on our faces when we seen the branch completely full and people waiting outside. We got in line where we started a conversation with the person in front of us who said he had been there for a very long time and the line wasn't moving like there was no cars. They had a good 10 people working there with only a couple of people actually at the counter as if they were trying to slow down the process as cars were getting ready.
While waiting in line more people were arriving by shuttle and the line was getting longer. We made the best of it talking to the people in line and after about an hour an a half we made it to the counter and gave them our reservation confirmation number that we did through our airline company. The guy behind the counter looked at it handed it back and went in the back room to talk to someone. He came back a few minutes later and said our car had been given away since we were over 3 hours past our reservation time of 8 am which was not true, since we were there at 10 am. We tried to explain to them that nowhere in the reservation did it state a 3 hour deadline or was there anything in their service area that stated that. Besides we were there in their line long before the 3 hour expired if that was even true.
You would think that they would ask people in line if their reservation was going to be 3 hours or later and take them first to avoid cancellation if that was true. But cancelling a reservation to rebook it at a higher last minute rate seemed like the motivation for this. We asked to speak to the manager so he went back again and came back and said there was nothing he could do. Another worker asked us what we were waiting for where we said that we have waited a long time to get a car and now we were stranded at their terminal on a holiday weekend with no vehicle and we want to talk to their manager.
Well the manager finally came out with an attitude and could care less that they gave our car away. I asked them if I could get any car and he said they were out of them and I asked what about at the airport where he said there probably out as well. Nice, we had a reservation and this guy would not honor it. It was a holiday weekend so you could get more for a last minute reservation by cancelling our reservation. This should be investigated by the AG's office and a class action suit should be brought against this company for unethical business practices.
We ended up leaving, taking a shuttle back to the airport after the manager threatened us. We ended up going from place to place all being sold out but one company where we rented a car from was 4 times what we're going to pay which is what this is probably all about. I know we were not the only one there that had their car given away, due to the demand of the weekend. I contacted the main office which was a waste of time because as they say fish stink head first. I did contact the airline we rented the vehicle through and they said they would report it to their upper management. If you have similar experiences keep passing it on. Eventually the AG's office will step in and investigate this company for unfair business practices.

I booked a Jeep online and was very excited for this specific vehicle. When we arrived in the Phoenix airport the line up for the Fox Rent a Car was insane! All the other rental places had short lines and dealt with customers quickly. We waited in line for close to 2 hours! No explanation as to the long wait times was given. When we finally got to the agent, they were not friendly at all. They had to call down to another employee to find the vehicle we booked. We then had to wait for that employee to call back, only to tell us the Jeep I booked was unavailable. We then had to wait for the employee to call back with another similar vehicle. I was pressured and made to feel guilty for not taking their extra insurance coverage. The entire process at the desk took another half hour.
When we went down to the parkade to get the vehicle, we greeted by another unfriendly and unhelpful employee. They did not explain how to note existing damage and after finding the vehicle I had to wait in line again to report the existing damage. This was the worst experience I have ever had and will definitely not be renting from them again!!

Don't rent from here. When reserving my basic sedan rental I was quoted $82 for two days (same drop off/pick up) which I paid in full at check in, PLUS a $150 deposit. After dropping off my vehicle 36 hours later, I received a receipt that only credited back $75 of my deposit. The fees outlined in this receipt were the same line items I already paid for in the $82.
Apparently the first price is an "estimate." I drive a total of 64 miles in two days and stayed local in Chicago. The cost nearly DOUBLED with zero transparency. I've never spent that much on a rental this basic before. Customer service has been a chase - over an hour and a half waiting on the phone, a "live chat" feature with no live chat reps - it was really just an email request form, and zero confirmations in my inbox when I submit to that chat feature and also email directly in about my issues.

I shopped around and Fox seemed to offer a good deal - $24.79 for 6 days. $144.76. I appreciate that there are always additional fees, but my total came to $283 for a real cost of almost $48 per day -- almost double what was advertised. My initial total bill was even higher but they agreed to waive the early delivery fee of $20. Since when is there an early delivery fee? That, however, did not eliminate the $8.41 late fee. Mind boggling. I don't mean to quibble about small amounts, but I couldn't believe some of the "hidden charges," that couldn't be explained. Like others have stated, I was badgered to take insurance for $20 per day which would have been an additional $120.
I had the presence of mind to INSIST on not taking it, but only after an argument with the sales person who emphasized I was making a big mistake. Worn down by this, I stupidly agreed to the pre-paid gas -- which also was a sham and something that he outright lied about. Don't do pre-paid gas. When I called customer service to inquire about the bill, which made no sense, the representative was rude and curt. Avoid at all cost! Renting from this “organization” will lead you down a horrific road of regret and utter disbelief. (They do not have any customer service and/or a corporate contact). Be very careful or else you’ll end up in a horrible situation as we have. We have been getting harassed by one of their representatives (Pennie **) for over 5 months now. We were unfortunately in an accident, but we’re fully covered by one of the largest and most reputable insurance companies in the world. However this fact doesn’t seem to matter as our condescending harassment from (Pennie **) has persisted.
She has claimed our insurance company “didn’t pay.” Once we inquired, they provided proof that they did in fact pay. However not the amount she was inquiring for, as her initial inquiry was for a different amount, the amount that was paid immediately. With this being said, and to reiterate, they merely paid the amount requested by rep (Pennie **). Now she claims that didn’t in fact happen, that she had always requested the second amount, that our insurance company was “lying.” Very unprofessional and a serious claim to be made.
After being harassed endlessly, continuously called liars, and told our insurance company was lying as well. We contacted our company to see why the remainder had not yet been paid/received. They ensured us they had tried contacting the rep (Pennie **) multiple times to no avail. Which seemed to be more of the truth, especially after the disgusting demeaning way in which the rep (Pennie **) had spoken with us.
The rep (Pennie **) just called me again, claiming the same lack of communication from our company, and insisting we must pay out of pocket as the insurance company still hadn’t paid “full amount.” At wit's end, I finally had enough and told her this was harassment! That she needed to correspond between our insurance, and needed to stop speaking to us in a belittling condescending manner. She went off, calling me a liar and our company liars and then laughed about how she (Pennie **) was sending my info to collections, and that while have 5 days to pay for it.
She was getting gratification by harassing, demeaning and threading to harm our credit. I have contacted our insurance company yet again, who immediately apologized, and mentioned they have continued to contact the rep (Pennie **) to resolve/pay the remainder, but she won’t return their calls. I personally believe from my dealings with rep (Pennie **), that she may be a little off, and not well educated/trained. That maybe she’s just very confused. Either way, the fact that she’s trying to negatively slight out credit, is alarming. We have also reached out to our attorney to see what we can do to protect ourselves from this disgruntled employee?

Small shuttle finally arrived and was only big enough for 10 people of the 30+ that were waiting at that point. Arrived at Fox rental car facility to find huge line. Unfriendly check in ensued, then arrived at Mitsubishi vehicle with entire passenger side dented and scratched. Not a big deal but with a full fleet why not take it out of service and repair it? Decided by that point to never rent from Fox again.
Received credit card bill weeks later with $78 for tolls and fees, outlining the tolls I was expecting as $18, and $60 in fees ($15 x 4 tolls). That is ridiculous to charge those fees for two reasons. One, I was not told there would be fees at check in. Two, I've used other rental car companies at the same airport that do not charge extra fees or as steep of fees for tolls. Fox has lower cost rentals comparatively so I'm guessing they can justify their $15/toll fees and poor customer service by saving their dwindling customer base a few bucks on the daily rental cost. In summary, will never rent from Fox again and completely dissatisfied with overall experience.

I thought Fox felt guilty and would refund some money but I only got a mail telling me to pay 8-dollar Golden Gate Toll plus 15-dollar administrative fee. So, the daily expense of renting Fox was 110 plus 7.5 dollars if you went by Golden Gate. The thing is that another renting car company cost me only 40 dollars per day (included gas). And they paid the toll for us without any extra administrative fee. Conclusion: Never use Fox and tell your friends about this.
Original review: The price online for a SUV shows 26 per day. Then when I paid and arrived at the airport to pick up the car, they asked me to pay insurance for the car, insurance for the driver, gasoline, airport taxes (5 taxes), roadside assist (provided no assist at all), etc. Altogether I paid more than $160 for two day's use of the SUV. And deposited $150.
When I returned the car, they charged more than $50 for a quarter of gasoline on the deposit. The staff didn't bother to provide any help when I had difficulty putting the car in line. When I called the customer service, I had to wait more than 20 minutes since there were always more than 10 calls ahead. Ironically, when I was on hold I heard Fox kept on saying it aims to provide the best service. Well, save the service for yourself--more than $110 per day.

Our Priceline package included a rental car from Fox. We noticed that our pick up time was scheduled for 10 a.m. Our plane was not landing until 12:45 p.m. We contacted Fox from the airport as soon as we landed and we were instructed to catch the shuttle. After standing in line, we arrived at the counter at 1:15 p.m. and the agent told us our reservation was cancelled at 1 p.m. because they have a 3 hour window. Now, away from the airport rental places, we had to negotiate a new rental. The agent reviewed our cancelled reservation and said they did not have comparable cars. Our Priceline rental was for a compact SUV for 4 days. We discuss the least expensive option for a 4 day rental and asked what the total would be for 4 days. Agent said our costs would be approx. $157, plus a $150 deposit. We agree to that and sign all of our documents on the kiosk.
The kiosk never gives you your return date to initial. The contract was then printed and we were given keys to a Hyundai Compact SUV (but remember they didn't have any comparable vehicles). Before leaving the counter, we inquire again about the exact time the car needs to be returned on Monday, September 30th. The agent said it needs to be returned as close to the time as possible because early and late returns are assessed fees. On Sunday, September 29th, we pull the contract to verify what time the car needs to be returned on Monday and are shocked to see the return date was Saturday. My husband returned the car on Monday and could not speak with someone about the error before we had to catch our flight.
I have sent Fox two separate messages to their "contact us" and have received no response (it's been over 30 days). I spoke with their customer service and was told "we should have read the contract." I have filed a dispute with my credit card and Fox responded "but you signed our contract". Nowhere I signed on their kiosk did it show a return date of 9/28/2019. Their agent tells you what your signature is verifying and September 28th was never discussed. Their practices are disreputable. I travel often for work and have never had trouble with a rental company and have not been assessed fees for an early return.

I was happy to find a rental that I could prepay for online at a very good rate! You have to wait for the shuttle in a specific location, so it would be nice to have that information somewhere on their website. It also took 15 minutes of waiting, and I wasn't sure so I tried calling the company to ask when the shuttle was coming but I wound up waiting on the phone for 10 minutes before hanging up. The driver was very nice and an honest guy.
When I got to the desk to get the car, they encouraged me to let them fill up the tank upon my return at "less than the price that you would pay at a gas station," but they didn't tell me that I was buying a full tank of gas regardless of how much I actually used. They also encouraged me to buy insurance, which I found out later that I should have called my regular car insurance company to check ahead of time because they cover rental cars anyway. I told them that I already have normal car insurance, but they convinced me to buy insurance for the vehicle anyway. The people at the desk were nice.
So if they try to sell you cheap gas and insurance, say no, and be aware of when and where the shuttle comes. It seemed like the other rental companies had more shuttles running - I saw the Hertz bus come three times before the Fox came - but if you plan your schedule accordingly it's not a big deal. The people at the company were nice, but I did feel like I got swindled a little bit and could have avoided it if I had known.
Hopefully this review helps you save some money and avoid the mistakes I made! I wound up paying $100 total instead of the $35 that I thought I was going to pay, but I could have only paid $35 if I had known these things ahead of time. Honestly, I will probably use Fox Rent-a-Car again next time I visit Denver because it was convenient and easy, and the extra money that I paid was partly my own fault for not knowing ahead of time what to expect. I'm sure other rental companies try to get you to do the same thing with gas and insurance.

When I got there I ended up having to pay over $500 more, so it equalled out over $700 for our rental for the week. They could tell me what I paid, but not what all the expenses went towards. The vehicle I had requested wasn't available so they "upraised us for free" Then we were told our vehicle was ready so we went out to put our bags in it & they had to take it back to get gas. As they were retrieving gas out of another car to put in ours we were not allowed to go anywhere near it. Very sketchy place and people. Would highly NOT recommend.

The staff at counter don't know if they really have the car for you. They don't communicate with the guy who hand over the car to their customer. I waited half hour to get to the counter to get the car rental process. After they charged my money and go outside to wait for the guy to give me the car I booked weeks ago, he said there is no Jeep Wrangler and showed me other normal SUV cars. Hey, If I need a normal SUV, why don't I just use my own car and come to you?? You don't have that car then why do you post it online said this car is available? If you don't have that car, why don't you tell me at the counter? It is the morning at 9am. Aren't you supposed to prepare all the cars that your customers booked? Do you understand what is reservation? And the guy's attitude is extremely bad, seems like my fault not picking one of those car he provided. And he didn't go to talk with his crew and told me to talk with the counter.
WHAT is the problem with this company? And i need to wait another half hour to wait the staff who went into office for a break or what....comes out to cancel my order. If I don't persuade the other staff to ask him out, i don't know how long i need to wait for get my refund. And now i just found out they didn't give me the whole refund. I am still waiting someone answering the phone. I hope i can get my money back from this company. AVOID this company, they just want your money without providing any service.

Car not ready at Salt Lake City Airport when I went to pick it up. After about an hour, we got a car that sounded like it was going to fall apart. Then it did! We were on the highway and had a tire blowout on a Sunday in UT. Nothing was open. I called Fox and they said, "Sorry, you didn't purchase protection so we cannot help you." I should have called an Uber then but foolishly called a tow truck. I was towed to the place Fox told me to go, but that guy never heard of Fox so I had to be towed again to a dealer which opened the next day. Then I had to get a hotel room.
Car was looked at by mechanics and they said I needed a brand new tire becasue the one on the car was well beyond repair. I bought it for $260. Then the mechanic said do not drive this car, it's unsafe. He told me other tires were ready to blow and advised me to drive right back to Fox (SLC Airport) because there were no other Fox outlets anywhere near me. I took it back and rented another vehicle from Enterprise. Unfortunately Fox will not pay for the tire. I am out $260 for a tire I don't have and on a car that should have been deemed safe prior to its being rented. AVOID FOX AT ALL COSTS.

Front end shakes from wheels being out of alignment, kept stalling at start up and the display screen was completely foggy. Could not see gauges. Use a more reputable car company. We recently rented a minivan in Seattle and the minivan was not ready when it was scheduled to be picked up. It was about a one hour wait (after a cross-country flight) to have another minivan found and cleaned up for use. No notifications were made about toll services and no opportunities to use electronic toll transponders, etc. were given or warnings about how to pay tolls. Upon returning home, we received a bill for the tolls and were charged a $15 for service fee for each toll charge on top of the toll itself.

It took an hour a LAX to be picked up. In renting the car, my wife twice told them she didn't want the LDW and then they put it on anyway. When I called I asked for a call-back. After 45 minutes (there were 10 people ahead of me), I called back and got right through. As I was explaining the problem, I was told that my wife would have to go in and talk to the manager. I said, "I know it is not your fault but this is **," and he hung up on me.

This company is nothing but scam artists. I had a package reservation, travel to Las Vegas through the Airline. For some reason I ended up getting the car through Fox car rental. When I made the reservation my total price for three days car rental came to $150.00. I had the confirmation number and the total price which I had to pay at the car company. When I got there in Las Vegas office. They were asking for $400.00 dollars for the three days rental and another $150.00 dollars refundable for the deposit.
When I asked how the 3 days rental came to $400.00 dollars, all of a sudden the agent behind the desk got so nasty telling me that I had added all this extras like 3 baby car seats, navigation, Sirius radio and so on. I showed him my paperwork and told him," I don't even have baby. Why should I even request for the car seats." He answer was, "That's why you shouldn't go through a third person party to get a rental, they are the one requested for all these extras." After my complain to the manager holding me there for a good an hour to try to clear all the extras, I got the car. People the car was so filthy and stinky. Truly after what we went though at the desk, we just decided to keep the filthy car because there was no more time to waste going to another car rental. I have learned my lessons, I should've read all the bad reviews about this Fox car rentals before I rented through them. THEY ARE NOTHING BUT SCAM.

I would not recommend this company to anyone. They are malicious and unprofessional. This is why.... This was my sister's first time renting a car so she found the staff were sneaky with responses about costs. They were actually very abrupt and rude when on our return we complained about cruise control not working and the inability of the third row of seats to be folded down in our rental Dodge Caravan. This was the reason we ordered a van. She was also told their gas was twenty cents a gallon cheaper and not to bring the van in full. This was a partial truth.
My sister's knowledge of how much it costs to fill the van is from personal experience (she usually brings her own van down but this time we flew). A 'fill up" is about $20.00. They convinced my sister to pay the $45. fee in advance for them to fill it for us. She didn't pick up on this fact until we returned the vehicle. The Shuttle driver did not assist anyone with getting luggage into vehicle for return to airport even though I have a disability and use a cane to get around and we are both seniors.
When we arrived at the airport the shuttle driver told us that everyone was to depart the shuttle at the first stop as it was for ALL airlines. Again, no help with anyone's luggage, he didn't get out of his seat. He left in a great rush; just as we found out we needed a different terminal which was a twenty minute walk away. We yelled and waved to stop him but he ignored us. Another car rental company's staff helped us out by loading our luggage onto his shuttle and taking us to the proper terminal. I would not recommend Fox Rent a Car to anyone. They are malicious and unprofessional. I wish I could remember the name of the rental car agency that helped us out, I just remember it was a well known brand name agency. Hope this review is helpful to anyone renting a car in Orlando.

Booked with Fox through Expedia for Denver on 9/18-9/24. Rented a Jeep Wrangler and paid the higher price. Received Notice from the airline that our flight had been moved up. Called to fix the reservation time. No problem, said it would only be $15 more. Ended up being charged for an entire day. Ok I agreed. The rep at the desk was extremely rude and not very accommodating. I didn’t have my credit card that I had charged the car to but I did have a credit card on me. Said I couldn’t have to jeep because of it. Gave me a crappy Mitsubishi that was NOT comparable. And I still paid the higher price. He then told me that I would go through toll roads and I should but the coverage since they don’t have tollbooths. Ok that’s fine. I wasn’t happy at this point so I agreed and left.
Now it’s 1 1/2 weeks after I returned the car and I receive a notice that I owe for tolls. $9.30!!! No problem. But they’re tacking on $30 fee. Absolutely not. I don’t remember going through any toll roads but again I’m from out of state and maybe I did. I have no problem paying the tolls but for them to pocket $30 is insane. From start to finish my experience with Fox was horrible. I will never rent from them again or recommend them. I will always use a more reputable company. I even read some reviews and thought they can’t be that bad! Ha!! Lesson learned.

We will never rent from Fox again. Not impressed. We arrived by shuttle from the Denver International Airport to pick up our vehicle. We needed to be at our location by 5:00 for my daughter's wedding rehearsal, and we had a 45-minute drive (at minimum, not accounting for traffic or being in unfamiliar territory). Waited in line for 30 minutes or longer, while only a couple of employees waited on this line of 15-20 people - 4 or 5 other employees just kept walking back and forth and did NOTHING to help move the line along. In fact, we could hear them all laughing and talking in the next room (break room, I guess).
We had reserved a small, economical car - and instead were given a gas-guzzling SUV as an "upgrade" for keeping us waiting. Allegedly the vehicle had a full tank. It did NOT - only 1/4 full! We then got stuck in traffic and were stressed the whole time thinking we might run out of gas! When we FINALLY arrived at our destination nearly on fumes, we had missed the wedding rehearsal. Again, NOT impressed!!!
When we dropped the vehicle off, that process was faster, BUT very confusing and not clearly explained where and how to do so. When questioned why the tank wasn't full, we explained we were returning it with MORE than it had when we left (about half a tank). Offered to show a picture we had taken of the mileage and 1/4 tank of gas, about 15 miles away after we left with it originally, but the attendant said that wasn't necessary. We were given one price upon reserving the car, and then our credit card was charged more than double that price! Again, NOT impressed and will never rent from Fox again. We will go with a more familiar service, such as Avis or Hertz. We would never recommend Fox to anyone.

Hello, by this means I explain that the suv I rented in question was a setback, it broke down in the middle of the desert heading to Arizona, and we had to ask for help to return to Las Vegas. They sent a mechanic from Fox car rental and he could not fix it. After they sent a truck service from the car rental company Fox picked up the car and returned it to the company. This situation with the company Fox is pathetic. What they are charging was supposedly a deposit that would be refunded upon return of the vehicle. When I went to talk to the manager in turn, she apologized and informed me that he would not charge me for the bad service. I Pay more than I agree, they charged my credit card the deposit. I don’t think that is legal. It's not fair.

The most horrible experience ever. Waited 25 mins for the Fox shuttle to pick us up at the airport. Finally got to my car; put the windows down to air it out because of some gawdawful scent. Drove about 10 feet, tried to put the windows up and, of course, the front passenger window won't go up. Have to park the car; unload my luggage because the car was no longer secure with a window being all the way opened. Went back inside, explained the situation, got a new car. "Spot 28."
I go to Spot 28 and the car doesn't match. Key won't work. Have to UNLOAD my car again, walk back into the building and explain that I can't find the car. Very rude man at the counter said the key won't work because it's keyless. I said, IT'S A DIFFERENT BRAND CAR IN THE SPOT THAN WHAT'S LISTED ON THE KEY TAG. Finally, a very nice worker who saw how upset I was went to get the car for me. After 10 minutes, he brought it to me. I said, "Where was it?" He said "SPOT 48. There's a language barrier issue here." Car worked fine for the week I had it.
Returning the car, you have to drive to the back of the building. Walk about a quarter mile from the lot, inside the huge building to get the shuttle. Driver not in sight. Halfway full shuttle. Have to load my luggage on myself. Driver comes. Gets us to the airport. DOESN'T UNLOAD ONE PIECE OF LUGGAGE FOR ANYONE. This took place on Tuesday October 8 at 2:30 p.m. Shuttle everyone off at the same spot regardless of your airlines. Had to walk another half mile or so to get to the Southwest gate. And by the way, do not take your car back with no fuel and think they will charge you just a slight above the normal rate of gas to refill it. Thankfully, I prepaid, but the man checking out behind me was charged over $150 for gas at $7.99 a gallon. NEVER, EVER, EVER RENT A CAR FROM FOX CAR RENTAL!!!!

The first time I rented from Fox Rent A Car in Salt Lake City. They just left us sitting at the airport. We ended up having to rent from another company for a lot more than we planned on. The second time we ended up waiting for close to an hour before they pick us up. Everything went pretty good other than the Jeep being totally dirty. I had to go wash it once I got it. Not a super big deal. When I returned the jeep I told and showed the people at the office that the jeep had five bad tires and one of them had a knot on it and was shaking pretty bad. Three weeks later I'm back in Salt Lake getting another jeep. This time we were left 45 min before we got picked up. A guy standing with us ended getting a Uber. Once we got to the office it took another 45 min to get the paperwork done and there was only two ladies ahead of me. I told the lady about my last rental and i wanted a Jeep in good safe shape. She said she was going to put me in one.
After I get the key and walk out and find it I was shocked to find out I was being put in the same Jeep but with only 4 bad tires now BECAUSE THE ONE I TOLD THEM ABOUT HAD BLOWN OUT AND WAS NOW IN THE SPOT FOR THE SPARE. So I go back in and get another jeep. It had 5 good tire but was totally dirty. I ended up finding an old sandwich under the seat on the second day after smelling something bad that was totally rotten with mold all over it. And it had no key FOB to lock and unlock the jeep without setting off the alarm. So when we get to the campground I could not lock my stuff up without setting off the alarm horn.
We were there to photograph wild life and was getting up early 4:30-5:00 so every morning I would set the alarm off. After 5 day the park staff came to us and told us we had to stop setting the alarm off or we had to leave. We end up being asked to leave because the horn went off again. We ended up having to spend most of a day trying to find another campground to stay in. Once I got back the same women was working. I told her about all the problems we have had and she said, "OH WELL. RENT FROM SOMEONE ELSE!!!!" So I will for now on. One of the women in front of me also had problems. The first car they gave her was wrecked in the front end fender and the second car had a dead battery. They told her to not worry about it. It would charge. They sent a women out at 11:30 at night in a car they had no idea what was wrong with it. PRETTY SAD!!!!

We booked thru Travelocity for a trip to Salt Lake for my nephew's wedding. Travelocity had an ad for Fox rental, stated "Premium 2 or 4 door car. Dodge charger or similar". Total price 133.86 for 10/3/2019-10/6/2019. Not bad. We took the bait and booked it with our flight. Wanted a premium car as we were going to my nephew's wedding and were asked to ferry people from nearby parking lot to wedding. When we arrived at Salt Lake airport we found out we had to catch van to "off site location". When we arrived at Fox location we were about 5th couple in line. Lots of others in office that really looked mad or unhappy.
When our turn came I approached the counter and told the agent we had a reservation for a "premium car". He actually laughed and said, "We don't have any premium cars." I told him we had made a reservation 3 months prior for a "premium car" thru travelocity and tried to show him the receipt. He refused it and said "we have no premium cars". Then he offered anything else on the lot for the same price so I asked what they have. I was told they had Jeep Wranglers, a jeep grand cherokee and some compacts. By this time, or when he laughed at my initial statement, I was very, let's say dissatisfied. They were a ways from the airport, which I'm guessing was intentional, so I opted for the "grand cherokee" because they're usually nice. Went out to do the damage report and saw another gentleman doing the same to the same vehicle.
After discovering they had rented us both the same vehicle I opted to let him have it since he was in line before us. After about 15 minutes they came over and told me, "Ok you can have your vehicle" so I went to the lot and found the only charger there and filled out the damage report and returned. I was told "oh that isn't rentable" although it had just been returned. They had taken the "grand cherokee" from the other gentleman and given it to me. I did the damage report again and returned to the counter. They would not give me any rental paperwork and told me if I get pulled over to have the officer call them. WOW red flags started going off. Being in a tight situation and far from the airport and short on time I took it. Prior to this they had told me I would use their fuel and would not have to fill on return. Not my "first rodeo"! Had to fight them for not buying a full tank, which is what they charge" since I would be using less than half a tank.
We got into the vehicle, which smelled of cigarette smoke almost enough to make you puke and discovered it was a bare bones model of jeep laredo. My time constraints would not allow me to do anything but drive. The driver's seat was a manual with a lever on the front to slide it back and a lever for recline of the backrest. I was sitting on the floor and couldn't imagine a shorter person, I'm 6' 4", trying to drive this. The cigarette stench was bad enough we had to have the windows to try to breathe. There was also a small piece of cardboard in the driver's vent that put out an incredibly intense perfume smell. That coupled with the cigarette stench made this unusable to shuttle people going to a wedding.
I forgot to mention that when I found out they had no premium vehicle they told me we could have any car on the lot for the same price. When I found the "grand cherokee" was rented the next best was what appeared to be a decent jeep wrangler. Now I was told it would cost extra. I'm a pretty sizeable man and immediately told "NO IT WON'T"! By this time I was extremely mad! Then the "grand cherokee" suddenly became available. We left their lot shall I say "less than satisfied"!
By the time we got to our destination we were sick of the stench! We started to try to clean the vehicle ourselves and found garbage and rancid fruit and other food under the seats. Disgusting to say the least!. We took photos of everything. Before we turned it in we took photos of the mileage and fuel gauge with the Fox sign in the background because this company had proven itself to be completely crooked and dishonest and wanted no hidden charges! When I got home I immediately checked my credit card account and found they had charged me over $280.00. Disputed charges with credit card co. and travelocity and Fox. We'll see how things turn out. I will prevail! Guaranteed!

I recently rented from here on October 3, 2019 in Las Vegas. The price was very cheap, so I went with the deal. However, the customer service representative was talking and walking so much that she made our check out time extremely longer than what it should have been. When we got the rental car, we wasn't notified that it takes a WEEK OR TWO to get our credit card off hold. This put my husband and I in such a bad position because we couldn't use our credit card to rent another vehicle while we was there, and it caused us to be stranded in Atlanta Hartsfield airport. We literally had to search every rental place in Atlanta airport to see who accepted a debit card so we could travel home. I called many times to see what was the hold up and why we wasn't notified before we pulled off. They gave us the runaround. Such a headache.
My advice is cheap isn't always good. DON'T USE HERE AND IF YOU DO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE MANY DIFFERENT OUTLETS OF PAYMENTS FOR ANOTHER RENTAL. UPDATE: spoke to a representative and he told me they didn't have to tell us about the deposit because we use Expedia to book. We didn't pay them. We paid at Fox. It was such a horrible experience. Never will use this location AGAIN and recommend others not to. The representative had a horrible attitude when I spoke with him. They needs some coaching.

On 5/3/2019, I picked up the car and drove to Boca Raton and on 5/05/2019, returned the car to Fox.

American Traffic Solutions is not billing for plate **. Even if they were billing for ** instead of **, as they are "a contracted partner of Fox Rent A Car, they have an obligation/duty to correct the record. I believe Fox and Foxtollsandfines:
1) Had a duty to follow the facts. But for their inaction, lack of integrity and failure to recognize the gravity of this complaint, FoxRentACar, et.al., repeatedly acted in bad faith in an effort to create an due burden and their conduct is indefensible.
2) Allowed a fraudulent situation to exist when they continued to bill me for an incorrect plate number **, when American Traffic Solutions was not billing for it.
3) Failed to investigate before, during or after receiving contrary information and ignored evidence submitted.
4) Failed to reconcile mileage on the vehicle after multiple requests were made further allowing the fraudulent situation to continue.
5) By their inaction, has established a corrupt process that stinks with the air of racketeering all to the detriment of consumers.
As for what I want:
-Provide a copy of the billing document and any subsequent notification from ATS for charges and or corrections for plate #**.
-Provide odometer reading when I turned the car in on 5/5/2019.
-Written acknowledgment from all parties that I do not owe anyone anything relative to this matter.
-Any reporting agencies that this debt was referred to and/or advised of to be corrected and removed.
-A written letter of apology.
-A commitment to review all input systems and put in place, a point of reconciliation to ensure no other consumer is put though this unjust process.
-Lastly, after the written acknowledgements are submitted by Fox, I want all parties in this matter to cease and desist with any and all claims against me and to never contact me again directly or indirectly.
I have reported them to the Better Business Bureau (documents attached). I will follow up with Yelp and a complaint to the Attorney General. All Fox would have had to do is reconcile the mileage I put on the car to see that unless I carried it on my back to South Carolina, the car was actually driven less than 600 miles from the time I rented it to the time I turned it in. Traveling to South Carolina would have added at minimum another 1200 miles.

I chose Fox San Francisco airport location to rent a car as they had medium sized hybrids and reasonable rates. I was traveling to Yosemite for a long planned family vacation and wanted good mileage. I was in line an hour and a half with a young child to get a car. Others in line literally walked away and went to different rental companies in frustration. One man took pictures of the line and said he was going to put them on YELP. There was a lot of unhappy people in that line. When it was finally my turn, I was informed they did not have my car and was told that I would be assigned an large SUV. I asked if I could wait for the car I ordered but was told there was no guarantee I would get it even if I waited. They ended up being assigned a large Ford Explorer that got about 18 mpg.
After seeing the vehicle I went back to the window and asked for anything smaller as I am not use to driving large vehicles and did not want a large vehicle. I was told no. I drove the car locally for the first day waiting for family to arrive and on the second day took off for Yosemite. The check engine light came on after driving past Gilroy. We stopped and called Fox. I was on hold for 28 minutes and hung up and ended up calling their emergency line. Someone finally answered and told us to bring the car back into the nearest agency which was in San Jose. We wasted about 3 hours trying to reach FOX and speak to someone, returning the car to SJ airport, drive time and gas with the gas guzzling car.
I did not fill up the car but went directly to the airport as I had used the gas in vain having to return the vehicle. I was told that we would be charged extra for not filling up the car. I was incredibly frustrated both by the disruption, waste of our vacation time and need to return the car. When I was told we should have filled the tank I was in tears and the women (who was quite kind) told me not to worry about the gas. The gas would not have been an issue if the car hadn't been faulty and we hadn't wasted 2 and 1/2 hours of driving for nothing. We got another (too large car) and ended up meeting our family arriving at Yosemite 4 hours late and missed out on half a day of a 600.00 per night cabin.
It was an awful start to our vacation. We ended up bringing the second car back to the same airport that we had picked it up from. (It was easier for my son) We had called to ask if we could and was told there would be an additional charge of 75.00. We agreed. It ended up to be 98.00 with taxes. Once all was said and done, FOX told us that we would be charged 118.00 for not filling the gas tank of the first faulty car that we had to return. (We had filled the replacement) My son tried to explain the history and called me very frustrated. I ended up calling the service department and speaking to a woman who said she would take off the additional gas charges.
While the people we spoke to were nice I would NOT recommend this company. The bill was supposed to be 166.00 and we were told it was going to be almost 500.00 by the time things were said and done. It was a hassle, you stand in line for a ridiculous amount of time and you do NOT get the car you reserved or even anything like it. They do not give you the option of registering online. FOX is incredibly hard to reach by phone. (We were on hold for 25 plus minutes each time we called, including when we had stopped the car and were trying to report the check engine light had gone on) The only exception to this was today when I called the customer service line for those who have already returned cars.
I don't think FOX has the cars they say they have and bait and switch. Here I am at home a full day after our vacation and still dealing with FOX. It made our vacation stressful both during and after. I wish I had been like the people in the initial check in line who vacated the ridiculous line and went to another agency. It would have given us a longer, less stressful time in California.

Rented a car in Florida. Told them I was driving from Fort Myers to Miami. Girl at the counter neglected to tell me that there were toll roads in Miami that could not be paid with cash. Florida has teamed up with the car rental companies to to bend over tourists and backdoor them with fees until they are raw. I didn't even know when I was going through a toll as all of the toll booths have been removed. Received a bill from Fox a month after my trip for $8 in toll fees and $90 in "admin fees" that go straight to Fox. Didn't even bother to lube me up first. Just jammed that bill right up my mailbox. Stay away from this company.
