Although you may be tempted to use Fox because of the price, be aware the quality of service and the vehicle will suffer. I was hoping my first experience was just a coincidence, but the second time proved me wrong. The first time the vehicle was in terrible condition. The dash plastic was shattered and the car was clearly abused and the second time the usb ports didn't work and the brake pedal rubber was missing & your foot could clearly slip off. And I'm sure like most rental car companies they try to get you to pay a daily fee for tolls and I declined. What I didn't notice was the $15 administrative fee they charge me for the one toll I incurred.
I only became aware of that this second time, when I was charged $90 in administrative fees which the salesperson never mentioned. Of course, they will say it's all in the agreement you sign hastily when you're trying to get your rental and get out of there. Three things these service people can tell you AS A COURTESY and most don't! 1 - You can go to a store and buy a toll pass to avoid all of this! 2 - Never listen to them when they say you can return it empty because their gas is always more expensive! 3 - Your own car insurance WILL cover you while renting, but if you're concerned, check before you go.

Took trip to San Fran. Arranged for rental vehicle through Expedia at what I thought was a deal. Arrived at airport, had to go outside to catch mini van that took us to rental location where we were provided with a SUV that looked and sounded as if it was taken out of the junkyard. While there we were asked if we wanted to prepay the gas and tolls for the week which we agreed to and 1 month later we rec a bill for 2 tolls and administrative fee because the customer service rep who wrote up the original agreement was new and did not process the paperwork correctly. DO NOT bother with this rental location or FOX RENT A CAR to save a couple of dollars. You get what you pay for I guess.

Booked a rental in November for a trip in April. Arrived in Tampa Florida. Went to get our rental and they denied us because in September they stopped using debit cards and now only use credit cards. We had no idea! The staff just tells us there is nothing they can do. This was not disclosed to our reservation. Stuck at the airport.... Executive car rental stepped up to help us but could not return the rental to Orlando. So executive car rental helped us out by walking around to other rental companies and found us Sixt car rental. Sixt Car rental saved our trip.

Absolutely zero regard for safety. Fox Rent A Car is literally renting accidents waiting to happen. We rented our vehicle in February, only to find out when it snowed on I 70 west that the wiper pump did not operate, requiring us to stop the vehicle and squirt water on the windshield, washing it manually. Worse, the car spun out and I 70 spinning five or six times down the highway is a result of the tires having two millimeters of tread, which is completely unlawful. We could not use the rental car the entire trip as it could not make it up a small grade. Fox would not stand behind its product, and the tire companies informed us that this was common, and when Fox would advise the customer to fix the tires for them (effectively perform maintenance on the vehicles they neglected) they would stiff them. Please avoid this foreign company at all cost. There is a reason Hertz and Avis are more expensive. If you want to bring your family back home alive that is…

I paid in full my Fox Rental Car. When I got to the counter, I was told I am REQUIRED to purchase insurance if the car is in the shop because our regular car insurance doesn't normally cover this; I didn't see anywhere on Fox's website telling me this. He asked if I wanted to bring the car half full and said I'd be charged $35 which he said was $4 something a gallon. Seeing the prices out there I agreed. Upon return of the car (which I brought back half full as required), I was charged $5 something a gallon.
So between the insurance and the gas, they charged me another $230+ combined with what I had already paid. It would have been much cheaper to use the rental cars at the airport rather than taking an extra shuttle to Fox; I would have saved money at the airport rental car. Also, the car was dirty and nobody comes out with you to go over the car. It was a push-button start which I had never used. I had to ask another customer how to use the car! Never again!! The car rentals at the airport, I've always had someone walk out with me and go over the car.

Horrible first experience (and will be the last) with Fox Rent A Car. Booked several weeks out for San Antonio Airport location. A few days before departing for San Antonio we had to make flight changes due to airline strikes, which put our arrival time and rental pickup ~6 hours later. I updated online reservation and it suddenly showed vehicle would not be available, so I called them. They said no issues and compact SUV would still be available and they said they would ensure the reservation was updated. Connecting flight was delayed due to "mechanical issues", so I called Fox and advised that our flight would be delayed, but airline would not say how long, so may not make it by midnight when the rental kiosk closes.
They said I had a 6 hour grace period before reservation would expire and would update to hold reservation for next day in the event we arrived after midnight. We arrived at the rental kiosk at 11:45, ~45 minutes later than originally planned, but they said we were past our 6 hour hold time (they never adjusted from 5pm to 11pm) and our reservation expired at 11pm, so they gave our rental away. Original agreement was Jeep Compass for 10-days for $544. The guy at the kiosk said he would try to work us a deal on a Toyota Corolla...here's the kicker, he said 10-day rental for the Corolla would normally be $3,200.
I commented that I could rent a Mustang GT for that price, and he replied with "hey, supply and demand". So the great deal he was going to give us was the Corolla for 10-days for $1,200 (all this while his supervisor was standing behind him watching). I told him absolutely not, then went around the corner and Hertz hooked us up with a Kia Sorento for $401 for the 10-day rental. I will never use Fox Rent A Car or recommend anyone use these scam artists.

I was in Fort Lauderdale last week. The person who attended me was the most rude and disrespectful person I have ever met. He offered me a series of additional charges. I told him that I did not require insurance since I am usually covered by my personal auto insurance and/or my signature credit card. I think he was upset about that, He gave me a small piece of paper and a pencil, I asked him to explain to me what I should do with that paper and he told me that I should check the car very well, because if he found any damage to the car that I had not reported at the time, I would have to face the court.
Furthermore, according to my reservation I would have a Chevrolet Equinox or a similar car. Well, I just received a Kia Soul. I arrived on a night flight, it was around 11:30PM and I was with my wife and two small kids, I just wanted to get to my hotel. The next morning I went back to the airport and returned the car and rented from another company. My experience with Fox was terrible and I would never recommend it to another person.

When registering to pick up the car the agent informed me they did not accept my credit card insurance coverage and the extra would be $36/day. He tried to tell me it was Mexican law that my credit card could not be used. I told him that was not true as I had rented previously from other companies and never had an issue. He then pulled out a crumpled printed sheet and said it was their policy. There was no mention of this when making the booking. I left and will never book with Fox again. Beware they are owned by Europcar. So I have black listed them as well.

Took over 1 hour to be "next" and we were 4th in line. The reason it was taking so long is that they started tacking on charges to everyone's confirmation for fees, insurance etc etc. We finally got out of there in just under 2 hours. Carlos tried to help two of us at the same time...acting so cocky that he was "going to take care of us"... Well I finally got a straight answer from the boss of the timeshare salesperson there "YES", the car reps are on commission! The more fees they tack onto your car rental, the more they make!!!! Also, if you do rent here, DO NOT let them tell you they have photos of all the scratches and dents as Carlos of course did but when we returned the guy said NO, there was nothing reported. THANK heaven we had taken over a dozen and he finally accepted when we showed him the date we took. THEY ARE AFTER YOUR MONEY! Beware of Carlos!

My good friend Barbara ** rented an SUV from Fox with my daughter Anea as the authorized second driver for a trip to Seattle and back to Burbank. I was the passenger. Upon arriving in Seattle and pulling into the hotel's parking garage, a rear tire shredded to treadless strips of rubber. Thank God we were only going less than 5mph when this happened. Fox, displaying marked indifference to the situation, suggested no course of action other than we buy a new tire. Tires don't shred on rental cars when maintained, serviced and replaced when required. A few days later, the vehicle would not start, and the service light was on. We added more gasoline, but the car still wouldnt start. Fox offered to bring us another vehicle and pick up the old one. They did bring us a new one and towed away the first one. At no time was the vehicle in any collision or accident. Had there been a collision or accident there would of course have been a full accident report filed.
We were all shocked when Fox billed Ms ** almost $2,000 in repairs to a vehicle that was NEVER DAMAGED while in our possession. They referred to "the incident" -- there was never an incident! There was never any damage. If there were damage it could only be AFTER the vehicle was taken from us by the towing company. Wait, it gets worse. Prior to returning the vehicle to Burbank, an incident report was filed of a NO DAMAGE/NO COLLISION event at a stop light when a car slammed on its brakes in front of our vehicle. Our vehicle stopped without making any direct contact with vehicle in front. The driver of the front car, (uninsured) insisted on a report as he wanted to claim that his mother in law in the front passenger seat suffered whiplish and a dent in the right SIDE of his car (obviously preexistent) was caused by non-existent collision! His attempts obviously failed.
When the vehicle was returned to Fox there was no revelatory discovery of new damage to the vehicle whatsoever. Later, however, Ms ** was billed $1600 for repairs when there was nothing to repair as there was no new damage whatsoever to the vehicle. More than one complaint regarding these blatant fraudulent charges have been filed with the State Attorney General, and I am amazed that this company is still in business.

What a scam …. Expedia sent a car rental deal to accompany a flight reservation for my daughter…. Prepay for 10 days and get a Jeep Wrangler for 400 dollars …. Paid $488.00. She picked it up and they added charges of $11 to $29 dollars per day for taxes/plate fee/insurance/tax then talked her into gas and SunPass with another $480.00 being added to bill .. Then needed her personal credit card …. This "Deal" became a few dollars short $1000.00. SCAM! Then they didn’t have any Jeeps available. What a joke…. In other words this is a stripped quote that is really double the price …. With no guarantees.

Will never use Fox Rent a Car ever again!!!! Made the reservation through Priceline (First mistake) for Denver Airport. The actual location is about 15 minutes from the airport and requires a shuttle. Check in was easy enough. We upgraded to a 4 wheel drive, no big deal. The counter guy said we would need a toll pass if we were travelling north or south, which we were so we opted for it. Didn't need it.
Because there was no drop box for keys and they didn't open until 5am (our flight was at 6:00 am) we had to turn in the car the night before. So not only did we lose a night, it also cost another $84 for a taxi from the hotel to the airport in the morning. The best part is the invoice. The math doesn't add up. Priceline says they paid Fox one amount and Fox says they paid another. Both tell me to call the other. The numbers don't add up and they can't give me an explanation. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!

At 7:30am the next day we found that the catalytic converter had been stolen. We immediately called Fox Customer Service/Roadside Assistance. It was nearly 3 hrs before Fox returned our call. By 4pm Fox provided a replacement vehicle. My insurance took care of the towing and repair costs. I paid my deductible then received a bill from Fox for an additional $250 in administrative fees. For the past several weeks I have sent emails to Fox and have has yet received no reply.

This company charges every customer for additional renter's insurance. PLEASE BEWARE. I emailed the company prior to arrival to confirm I did NOT wish to purchase LDW insurance and showed it to the agent at time of pick up. I was charged anyway and since they do not provide any written rental agreement I wasn't aware until I was emailed a copy. The only way to decline the insurance is by initial on the touchpad at the rental counter. It is a very difficult screen to read an entire rental agreement. If anyone rents from Fox MAKE SURE the agent shows you the place to decline additional rental insurance aka Loss of Damage Waiver (LDW). I hope this helps others avoid hundreds of extra dollars worth of charges. I fought the charges and was refunded but it was not easy.

Don't expect any forgiveness from Fox or Priceline. If you make a mistake it will triple your ultimate price. The car was OK, I had to clean the inside of the windshield. My experience was good, until I received a bill, for $66.14, for $6.14 of tolls fees. Apparently, it cost money to come and go from the airport, then to get $60 in administration fees from Fox. Unacceptable! Charging people this much money! To my knowledge I never even went on a toll road. It appears it’s coming in and out of the airport! At least give someone the opportunity to pay the toll and not get charged a ridiculous amount, for something you had no control over. Fox will certainly lose my business. Bad business!

I picked up a car from Fox Rent A Car from the Fort Lauderdale airport. It was a bit difficult to find the kiosk at first. The car was good and it was affordable, but keep in mind if you’ll be driving on toll roads they charge an additional $15 administrative fee per toll, which is insane. Our toll costs were around $5, but we got billed $90 for “administrative fees”. There’s an option to pay an additional $85 to drive on toll roads when you pick up the car, so keep in mind this additional charge when renting in Fort Lauderdale. Overall our experience was good, except for that surprising administrative fee per toll.

I rented a car in Merida Mexico. I made my reservation on Travelocity, knowing that I would have to pay for insurance when I got here. I have rented cars in Mexico many times and never have I been charged this much. The Fox Rent A Car charged me $138/day for insurance for my rental. That is after I paid Travelocity for the rental fee itself. Because I had already paid for the rental, and it was late and dark, I paid the fee and figured I would have some sort of recourse the next day. As I looked around for alternatives, I found that smaller local companies charged around $40/day for the necessary insurance- almost $100 less per day!!! We had several issues with Fox during this rental experience, but I'll mention only three main ones here:
1. FALSE / MISLEADING ADVERTISING: At time of booking and at no time prior to pick up, was it mentioned anywhere that TWO (2) shuttles are required to get from McCarran airport to/from the Fox Car Rental lot, (where as all other companies require only the one shuttle to the car rental center as usual). This second shuttle to Fox's lot, although only another 10 minute drive, delayed us by 45 minutes in total due to having to unload from first bus, go into the center only to find out we had to take the 2nd FOX bus, wait for it and then load all our bags again onto the FOX bus, before finally arriving at the Fox rental lot and unloading a second time. Overall, the combined extra busing and counter experience (read below) mushroomed into over a 2 hr delay getting to our final destination because it put us into middle of rush hr traffic there.
2. VEHICLE CONDITION: Our vehicle had minor body damage all over it and restricted functions; for example, in our Santa Fe we could not select between drive modes and so was sluggish when passing or heading up inclines (engine sounded like an abused sewing machine). This feature was disabled for some reason. Interior lights would not work because of a blown fuse - something you take for granted during the Summer, but not during the winter when daylight is short. These are basic things and FOX should care enough about their customers to check the basics before renting out any car. All the SUV's on the lot we had to choose from had seen better days (scraped, scuffed , dented, paint oxidation, etc.)
3. STAFF ATTITUDE: I was the only person in line, and there were three counters open, but I still waited a total of over 20 minutes before I was finally served because after a FOX rep finished with the customer ahead of me, he just kept shooting the breeze with another rep about nothing related to their work and made me continue to wait another 5 minutes. Most other rental company staff do not do this because they know customers are tired from 8-12 hrs of flights and they get you on your way asap. Then the guy at exit gate was rude & unprofessional when he barked at me to back up, like I was a child and I should have know to stop the care before pulling right up to his window. Most other car rental companies REQUIRE you to pull all the way up to the window to hand them papers. With the exception of "Riley" who we talked to on the lot when selecting our rental, the entire treatment overall rom bus pickup to driving the car off the lot was disappointing (I'm being kind) and just too much effort for something so simple as picking up a rental.
I fully understand and get that Fox, once among the mainstream rental companies, has in recent years fully migrated to a "discount rental" company. And that is great if you are willing to trade off some level of service for a discounted rate - but in doing that you really have cut back way too far on customer service, as well as let vehicle working condition and appearance slide.
Fox is not the only discount care rental company to choose from. But Fox haven't seemed to figure out yet that even if you're a discount rental company, you still have to provide a good customer experience in order to survive, like the others do. FOX have seemingly forgotten that it is the customer who keeps them in business!! If FOX continues to forget these customer service basics or don't switch it up soon, they will slip even further than they have and even possibly from existence. We rent cars at least three times per year, for about 3 weeks at a time, all across the Southwest. We rented from FOX (Phoenix Sky Harbour) once before a few years back and it was a similar poor experience, although it was not as bad as this past experience in Vegas.
In summary, the rude and unmotivated staff along with the lackluster rental experience overall is a mood-kill and certainly not worth the $600.00 we saved; we really would rather pay the extra money to get a great rental experience where the company appreciates the customer and welcomes their business. We thought we would give FOX a try again but they still haven't figured out they have to treat their paying customers with respect, like most of the other rental companies do. As a result, we made a decision this was our last time ever renting from FOX - no discounted amount is worth this treatment from a company who I am paying for services.

Should have known this experience would be the same as the first. In 2018 at Fort Myers our reserved compact car for my wife and I was "unavailable." Was required to drive a minivan at an "Upsell" price much higher than quoted. Now in 2021 at Phoenix our reserved midsize car was recorded as an "intermediate." Traveling as 3 adults with 2 infants requiring car seats we HAD to pay another "Upsell" price just to get a Toyota Camry to fit us all. Furthermore, this agent now insisted that my Minnesota Auto policy that includes contractual liability coverage for rental cars was not recognized in Arizona. We also confirmed there was a 59 minute window at the end of the scheduled return time where there would be no additional charge. We rented for 5 days and were charged for 6! Well the sales associate asked if I wanted to pay for advanced toll fees, I said sure since I’m not familiar with the city. Well it wasn’t included in my rental and now I’m going to pay for it. I would give 0 stars if I could. We reserved a "Compact SUV" via Expedia for $451.22 total for a week; when I made the reservation it said clearly that this was a 4 door SUV for 5 passengers, 3 pieces of luggage, and 3 carryons. I even took a screenshot of the reservation but then (stupid me) forgot to print it out and did not bring the device with the screenshot on the trip. Boy do I regret that. When we got to the Fox counter, the agent insisted that we had reserved a 2-door Jeep that had no space at all for luggage - way too small for the 5 adults in our group - and when I tried to pull up the Expedia reservation to prove what I had reserved, it only had the info "Jeep Compass or similar" and "5 passengers".
Agent named Angel continued to gaslight me and insist that we had reserved "their smallest most compact vehicle" and because I was not able to get Expedia on the phone while standing at the desk, we ended up getting charged an additional ~$500 for an "upgrade" to (basically) the vehicle I had originally reserved. Our $451 rental ended up being over $1000. I called Expedia when we got back from the trip, and the CS rep was very sympathetic and promised to work on resolving this and getting a refund, but I don't have a lot of hope given other reviews I've read on this site. Still waiting to hear back from Expedia. Bottom line: Bring PROOF of what you reserved (take a screenshot of all the details and print it out, because your Expedia or Priceline itinerary may not have the details when you go to view it later) - but also DON'T RENT FROM FOX. THEY ARE THIEVES AND SCAMMERS.

Hello, we rented a car from Fox Rentals for 16 days. When we first got the car, we noticed that the radio and navigation system did not work. We called customer service (CS) several times, and sometimes we were on hold for over 40 minutes and transferred! Few times, were hung up on/disconnected. When we finally spoke to them, we asked them, since we were over a 45 min drive to the office, if we could have someone fix it and they told us they would call back and we never heard from them. We also emailed them as well. Finally, when no one got back to us, WE CALLED AGAIN, waited on hold 30 minutes, and customer service said that when we returned the car, we would get some sort of a refund for the broken system and hassles. Well, we got nothing!
We emailed customer service several times after returning the car, and finally someone replied and said they would give us a voucher of $50! That was crazy to only get $50 for a car we had for 60 days that costed us over $1000. 2nd issue was that we were sold the Sunpass, told it was $99 and we were charged $179 plus tax. We emailed several times, called several times, to dispute this and we were never contacted. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND not RENTING from Fox Rentals. We rented the car in the Austin TX airport. Filling out the damage paper was interesting as there were marks or dents on all sides of the car. Did not think to check the tires or if there was a spare. Turns out the car with just over 72k miles on it was running on original tires and there was no spare or tools for changing a tire in the back. We got a flat in San Antonio at about 5pm. We wound up arriving at the car rental place at the San Antonio airport at 11:45 with 15 minutes to spare before they closed. This might not have been such a big deal if we didn't have to be back in Austin by 5am the next day.
At one point we were discussing replacing the tire with the staff at the Costco, but when they checked all the tires, they said they ALL needed to be replaced, and we'd have to buy some sort of spare. Decided not to do that. Did have good interactions on the phone with most of the people we spoke to. One out of the 4 was rude, as was the person who exchanged the car in San Antonio. Steep charges for renting a Toll Transponder and if you do not rent the transponder; fees are $15 per camera you pass and additional toll charges with fines. I booked through Priceline. Fox charged me an additional $295.06 after I paid for what I was quoted. I anticipated additional charges for toll roads, but not that I would be paying an additional $43 per day. My best advice is to go with reputable service provider, like Hertz or Budget. Don't make the mistake I did, and go with off-brand service providers, like Fox.

I needed a car in Seattle this last August so I started looking online and ended up calling their company to see if I could get the deal they had online (which was a little over $400 with taxes and fees) and drop it off a day early as my flight left a day before the rental was due back. The gentleman I spoke with didn't speak English very well which is frustrating in itself, but didn't think he was going to charge me anything else than what we had discussed which was about a $100 difference and who would complain about getting a rental car back early! I ended up staying a couple days longer so called to let them know that and they end up charging me over $600! When I contacted them by email a couple days after I got home and asked them to listen to the conversation I had with customer service about the agreement they did nothing but offer to reimburse me the $20 fee and told me I was wasting their time!
Three months later without a bill sent to me explaining any charges beforehand they charge my account $20.25 without consent or any notice whatsoever which was irritating enough but ignored it thinking it was maybe a toll charge for driving in the toll lanes. Now it has been 4 months and I look at my statement a few days ago and a charge for $125 for what I don't know and at this point I don't care! I have not received one letter in the mail (which I know they have) not even an email letting me know what the charges are for; just took the money out of my account like it was their own! Now my bank cannot reach anyone there and I don't know how this thing is going to end, but because I let them preauthorize with my card they technically cannot do anything but give me a new card which is unbelievable!
This company will tap into your account months later and do as they please with no explanation and that is stealing! I don't write reviews, but this could not be ignored and will happen again until people speak up!! Even if it's for $5 or $10 if you see an unexplained charge from this company or any company for that matter say something!

This company is complete with hidden fees and overcharges that are explicitly not written in the rental agency contract. If you decide to rent from them, make sure to see the rental agreement before checking in, which they did not supply to me. They overcharge for early return (also not in the contract), and several other charges that are tucked away in the "local rental policies" that takes about six clicks to find on their website. They may have good rates, but those end of being tripled or quadrupled. Stay away.

The confirmation I got back said that I was returning it back to San Jose! This is though my return flight is from Fresno. I contacted them to correct the return location and I was told that Fox doesn’t even HAVE a Fresno location! I made the mistake of prepaying, trusting that I had a reputable car rental company. I guess I’m too trusting. I don’t travel much.
Expedia has contacted Fox several times to negotiate a fee waiver and get a full refund for me. Today I learned that Fox is still denying my refund request. FOX SHOULD HAVE SEEN THAT I WANTED TO RETURN THE CAR TO A LOCATION THEY DON’T EVEN SERVE, YET THEY TOOK MY MONEY. It was up to FOX to tell me that they don’t have a Fresno branch. The Fox pick up/drop off location is remote from all other airport rental companies. You are led to believe that the physical location is at the airport, but the reality is that they are located miles from all other airport rental companies. The airport will direct you to the rental car shuttle for Fox, once you arrive at the rental car locations you are then redirected to another shuttle to take you to Fox. If renting from this Las Vegas location, expect long waits to get to the Fox location. If renting after 10:00 PM don't be surprised if there are only 2 employees available to process you and 15 other rentals, even though most rentals are reserved in advance.
They verbally told some customers that their charge for refueling a vehicle was cheaper than gas station prices. I paid about $4.00/gal at the local gas station when filling the tank for return. My fiancé and I went to California. We rented a car from Fox at LAX. We drove the car to Bakersfield, CA. That night our catalytic converter was stolen off of our rental. We called the company, and they were wonderful about bringing us a new rental (brought us a new rental from LAX and towed the broken car back), and we were assured that we would NOT have to pay for the tow. We used my insurance to take care of the repair, and went on our merry way. We had to pay a $350 “administrative fee” that our insurance didn’t cover, and were told the claim was closed. Now we received a bill for $818.00 for the tow. I called the company and was told there were no notes about FOX paying for the tow in the account, and the “quality assurance” tapes were no longer available; we were required to pay the money or be sent to collections. Well, want to fight this on the principle.
It is absolutely unacceptable to say something is covered, and then charge for the service. The dishonesty of FOX is absurd, and I caution anyone to EVER use this company. I am disgusted with how wrong this is. Dishonest and shady business practice should NOT be rewarded with new business. Now our account is in collections, and will ding our credit report, and we have to hire a lawyer if we want to fight this. Yes, it would be easier to just pay the bill, but how is that right? For your own safety and sanity, do NOT use FOX Rental. Thank you for reading.

I came to Denver to see the Broncos play at Mile High Stadium and rented a car from Fox Rental Cars. When I rented on line the cost emailed to me was $113.15 for 2 days which sounded reasonable. After I arrived at Denver International Airport, I noticed the other rental car company shuttles coming and going several times before a small Fox shuttle arrived - it was packed. We arrived at the nearby Fox Car Rental agency, and the lines were long, and there were not enough customer representatives, leading to another 1/2 hour delay. When I talked with an Agent they asked me if I wanted to purchase car insurance, but I said "No, I am covered by my State Farm insurance," yet I found out later I was charged $25.99 for insurance I didn't need.
The agent asked where I was going, and said she could pre-pay my toll roads for the toll road to Boulder, Co. where I wanted to visit a relative. I said yes, but she didn't tell me I would be charged over $25 for $9 in tolls. I told her I was traveling back to the airport from Denver, so I didn't need a 2nd group of tolls paid, but she charged me for a 2nd use of toll roads I never used, so I spent > $50 for $9 of toll roads. The Agent instructed me not to fill the car with gas "Bring it back as close to empty as you can." Fox Rental Car then charged me $7.99 a gallon for gas, plus all the airport taxes! Also, the Agent made me sign a "Deposit" for my rental car of $400. I have rented cars for decades and have never had to leave that kind of deposit (fortunately the deposit was returned).
The deposit should have been requested when I rented the car on-line. I had no choice. The car I rented was a bit worn out, 60,000 miles of wear and tear. My final bill was not the estimated $113.15 I was sent by Fox Rental Car, but instead was $232.54. Highway robbery. At least the guy who checked me in was friendly and communicated well - however, he said he didn't have the equipment to hand me a bill. "We will send a receipt to your email." So, I had no way to know I was getting ripped off.
I got on the Fox Rental Car website and sent a complaint to their Customer Service Department, but never got a reply of any kind - I waited 10 days. Even a "We are working on it" would have been nice. My guess is they do this to hundreds of people and just ignore complaints. You feel pressured in front of the agent because of the long lines and all the people waiting behind you, and a need to get going (in my case, a 1.5 day vacation).

We were advised to bring the car back there because they only charge $3.50 a gallon. However, we find out we were already charged $160 right off the bat, and then additional after we dropped off.
Collecting the vehicle, the car was missing pieces, had dents and scratches. We didn't have enough room on the form to fill in all the issues. So, we had to take a video to document entire vehicle to keep from them taking our deposit. We had almost a half a tank when we dropped off, they said we only had 1/8th of a tank. When we dropped off they tell you to keep vehicle running. There was a long line of returned vehicles, all running. We had also used one credit card we didn't intend to use, that they advised we could pay with the debit card when we returned. They just still just charged the credit card. I tried for weeks to get a hold of a real person at Fox Rent A Car. I tried sending website correspondence and filing a complaint regarding a notice I received after renting a car on my vacation to Florida in June 2021. When you call Fox you are put on hold forever each time then the line only disconnects. I never got a call back from the number listed on back of the notice either. The company customer service is a joke.
The invoice sent was for $15.78 for $2 in unpaid toll(s) on the day I went to the TPA airport—which is complete bull because I paid cash at (any) toll I encountered on vacation in that car. My four children who were in the car with me also witnessed me reach into my purse and hand over cash to the man in the booth the day we returned the car at the airport.
When I finally got a return email from Fox they said the $2 was a charge for “electronic toll roads.” It said “The Toll Authority reported your rental vehicle driving through 2 toll facilities. These tolls do not have toll booths to pull off and pay the toll in cash. To pay for this toll, you would need your own account or transponder with the toll authority.”
What kind of bull is this?! Nobody passes through a toll on a free to the public highway WITHOUT knowing it or going through some kind of gate/barricade or booth or something that plainly shows you owe money to go through it!! The only toll I passed through, I paid in cash!! Yet Fox says because it paid this mythical $2 ‘electronic toll’ for me, it’s now entitled to charge me $15.78 — this is completely ridiculous.
I can’t believe a widowed single mom of four is being made to feel like a criminal by this rental company when I did not sneak through any toll area that didn’t have a sign /gate alerting you to pay. They are trying to rob people who don’t want the hassle of a fight. I paid the tolls in that rental car, period. First it took me over 40 minutes to pick up my car because of all the upselling the counter agent tried on me. After I declined everything, he tried to sneak in extra insurance. He did sell me on upgrading to another vehicle, mostly because it had navigation. We were traveling to some areas where cell reception was going to be spotty, so I thought this was worth the money. Once I was in the vehicle, I quickly discovered it had no navigation.
Then, the CarPlay, which was our only other source of navigation stopped working and I could not reconnect to it. Now, we have a big crack in our front windshield and I can't get anyone to discuss the matter with. I tried several of the numbers they supplied me at pickup and they just hand up on you. It should be a percentage, not a flat fee and they should have to question you about this when you sign the rental agreement.
I after I refused to pay, they sent me to collections, then when I wrote them a letter explaining and sending them a check for the total tolls and 15% for administrative fees, they still wouldn't budge and continued to send collections after me for the full $60 in administrative fees. Since I was "4 hours late" they decided to not only charge me for an additional 24 hours (which would be logical, though still ridiculous), they charged me again for the entire length of my rental (an additional 4 days). 5 days total in rental charges & fees for being 4 hours late + the $430 I already prepaid for the rental. He insisted that a PlatePass was needed just to leave the airport, which is not true. Suggestion - use ** to determine if you need to pay tolls for your planned travel.
The agent tried to convince us that a vehicle with a 4-cylinder engine would have difficulty climbing the mountains in Colorado. We assumed his intent was to persuade us to upgrade to a more expensive vehicle, which we were not willing to do. The Elantra performed just fine, in spite of its 4-cylinder engine. Fox Rent A Car tried to assess a $25 late fee, even though we had rented the vehicle for 4 days and returned it after 3 days and 6 hours had elapsed. We had to call their billing department to dispute this charge, but eventually got a refund.
The layout of their invoices is confusing - you cannot easily determine which charges are subject to the taxes that are assessed. This is confusing and leads you to believe they have calculated the taxes incorrectly. Please be aware that renting at DIA subjects you to two taxes - one is 11.11% and the other is 13.25%. We recommend that you avoid Fox Rent A Car, at least in Denver.

1. Will no longer rent from Fox2. Avoid off airport rental car companies
3. If you have a reservation and your trip is shortened, cancel and rebook. Call the rental company to make sure there are no early return penalties.
4. Take the time to preview the rental agreement and question it if it is fishy before you agree to it.
5. It pays to read the reviews to learn from others and avoid previous mistakes others have made.

I returned the next day only to be told that their facial recognition software would not match my passport or drivers license and I was unable to rent a car from them. Because of the late date I was forced to rent an SUV at three times the price. Thankfully they are the only ones that depend on this flawed technology and all of the other rental companies that I've used in Leon have been wonderful to deal with.

I rented a car for my son through this company and Priceline. At the time of reservation, I selected that he was 21 years old. The rates given were inclusive of any additional surcharges or excess daily rates. I have a screen shot to prove it. However, when my son got to the offsite location, which was not at the LAX airport as indicated, he was forced to pay $500 more for underage surcharges and daily rates. The other option was to be stuck in Los Angeles with no transportation. Based on the horrible reviews of this company, which I should have checked first, Fox Rent-a-Car has a pattern, history, and trend of doing this to many other people. This company should be sued and shut down as a fraudulent, dishonest company. I have contacted the fraud department of my credit card, as well as Priceline. This company is not to be trusted!! Do not rent anything from Fox Rent-A-Car in any city, town, state, country or otherwise. You've been warned.

We booked a rental car March 3rd, 2021 for a Maui vacation starting June 9th-16th. We arrived at the airport and found the shuttle to the car rental pick-up location only to be told by the shuttle driver we were not on the list he had to pick-up our rental. He called the office and they told him there is no car for us. We called the main office to see why and the only reason they had, after hanging up on me numerous times, was because the way we booked the car is why they cancelled it. We booked through Kayak.com. Two other groups of people waiting at the airport were able to get the cars they booked. One couple even told us this was horrible and they had booked their car a few weeks before arrival, and it was expensive. The shuttle driver even knew this was a bunch of **.. Corporate sent me an email stating the maui location is only an affiliate and privately owned. They sent me a $50.00 credit.
We ended up paying twice as much after a local car rental company overheard our panic and how upset we were. It was an older vehicle, at this point we were happy to get anything. We so appreciated the other company’s shuttle driver for calling twice to get us a car we tipped the shuttle driver $50.00. SHAME on corporate for allowing this branch to associate their name brand with this location and only compensate us $50.00 credit. Like we would actually book with them again.
Is It too much for corporate to offer at the very least the difference from what we should’ve paid to what we did? And SHAME on the Maui Fox/Allsave rental car company for price gouging other people for car rentals. But most of all, SHAME on the person or people who made the decision to cancel our car with no notification out of greed in a land of paradise on our 25th wedding anniversary celebration. Fox/Allsave states customer service is a priority. SHAME for using this service claim.

This car rental is a total ripoff. I initially went with Fox because they were much cheaper than the other car rental services, but, after all the hidden fees, it came out to nearly twice the initial price in the end! None of the costs were optional either (insurance, extra coverage for young drivers). If the costs are not optional, they should be part of the initial price to begin with as far as I'm concerned.
In the end, fox is really no cheaper than other rental car services and many of the other options offer better service (i.e. better shuttle to airport, friendlier service, cleaner cars, etc.). Ultimately, I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1 star because in the end they gave us a nicer car after I complained about the extra cost. They also were very generous in the end with the cleaning fee. We managed to drag in some gum off the streets and I was expecting some sort of cleaning fee, but they did not charge us anything extra. Main takeaway: if you are thinking of going with fox rent a car because it is a budget option, just know that IT IS NOT A BUDGET OPTION.

Upon my prepaid rental pickup for an SUV (that I already paid $650 in February) the woman at the desk (Deonica) told me that an upgrade would be an extra “$250” for which I interpreted it as $250 total cost and come to find out she charged me $250/day for 10 days and never specified any of this and never told me the total. She then proceeded to tell me to “Scroll through and sign”. The screens on the tab lying about what they were stating so I wouldn’t notice the extra $4600 she charged me. I also declined all additional coverage on the car and she continued to charge me for every additional coverage they offer at Fox and lie to me! She knew I had small children who were sick and waiting in the 95 degree heat (per Fox policy that the children had to wait outside,) and she took advantage of me.
When I noticed how much she charged me I brought the car back the next day (as I was in the hospital with my child). I stated how unbelievably dishonest as well as completely slimy that situation was and I was returning the car and wanted my money back. I agreed to pay for the 1 day that I had the car as I should have not trusted her and gone through everything more carefully sooner. This women Deonica who said she is the manager said she would take the car back but she had to charge me for all the fees she illegally charged me and 2 days with the car which came to $1243!
So this total is now $1243+$650=$1893 I had to pay for a 1 day rental. My family and I are beyond belief with the criminal activity and dishonesty that Fox rental has portrayed and I will NEVER rent from Fox again. I have also already told over 50 people (friends, family and complete strangers) about this terribly awful encounter I had. I will continue to write reviews reflecting this situation on every platform I can find. I was robbed without a gun from Fox and I want my money back! I paid for a service that I never got (my 10 day rental) because of the manager's criminal behavior.

What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas? Nope, Not in this case. Customer Service? I would say TRASH but it's so much worse. Submitted claims with my insurance, they've offered to pay numerous times, but the claims representative is so difficult that she denies all offers FOR MONTHS. Now she's going to collections. My advice - pay the few extra bucks for a real rental agency.

Rented from Fox Rent a Car in Orlando since online they beat others' prices for the week. The car was fine except the windows were super dirty and hard to see out of so I had to stop and clean them. I was told when I returned the car that I still owed them $$ - I disagreed, had the check-out clerk verify that I had paid for the car in full and assure me that I wouldn't be charged anything more so I signed the return verification and went to catch my flight. I noticed that I had been charged the extra fee so have emailed and called them (If you call them, expect at least a 2-hour wait on hold) - got ahold of customer service twice and have been given different stories as to why I was charged extra both times. They are not willing to help and finally just told me to take it up with my original booking source (I have no idea what that's going to accomplish since Fox Rent a Car are the ones who added the extra fee on). Avoid Fox at all costs! We rented a car from the Denver Airport. An hour later the shuttle showed up. Of course you can't get a hold of anyone, so we just stood there contemplating trying to Uber to the Fox location. Once we get to check out counter, I could barely hear the lady "helping" us. There was very loud drilling at the computer next to us. I ended up just shaking my head be I had no idea what she was saying. The car given to us was dirty and appeared to be just passed from the previous customer to us. It definitely hadn't been vacuumed or washed. I thought the lady said someone would check us out, but there was no one around and no check out signs. So I'm not even sure what she was talking about. Other than being dirty the actual car was fine and we had no issues. I was expecting to have an awful return process, but it was actually pretty painless.
The real issue some 2 months after we rented the car. I've gotten 3 invoices, so far, totaling over $100 for tolls. The tolls themselves are only about $20 but I've been charged $90 in administrative fees. Now I can't seem to get a hold a customer service representative to get clarification on the charges, and who knows how many more invoices they will be sending. Guess I'll chalk this up to a life lesson....you get what you pay for and never go with the cheap rental car company. This experience will make you appreciate Hertz or Enterprise!

I booked Fox Rent a Car through Hopper as the pricing was about half the price of other rental car agencies. After booking, I read through the reviews and became very nervous as the reviews were pretty bad. Multiple hour wait times, no cars available, dirty & broken vehicles, unauthorized charges etc. We reserved a mini van and received a 2019 Dodge Grand Caravan with 44K miles. It was definitely a base model - seats & lights were not automatic- but the vehicle ran fine and got us from point A to Point B.
The check in process could have been quicker. It took a half hour at the counter before it was our turn and another half hour in the garage to wait for our vehicle to be brought to us so about an hour in total. I read many reviews about additional charges that the consumer was not aware of. We were charged a $150 security deposit that was promptly refunded. We were also charged about $63 for an additional driver which I didn’t see on their website when booking even though we listed him on the booking. I am under the impression that if it had been a spouse it is no charge but this was my adult son. They did clearly state there would be an extra charge when we picked up the vehicle. I read reviews about extra charges regarding tolls but there were no tolls in our areas.
They offered us all of the additional insurances but we declined and they were not pushy as many other reviews have claimed and nothing additional was charged without our knowledge except the $63 for the additional driver that we agreed to. We brought the car back completely full as some reviews stated that they were told it was cheaper to have them fill it but in fact it was a huge charge. They did state that when the car was returned you must have the credit card you booked the reservation with as it would be swiped. My son returned the car which was the reason we put him as a driver and he is not in possession of our credit card. The only way around that was he had to give his credit card for the deposit and extra $63. It was a hassle and in the end they never asked to see his credit card when he returned the vehicle.
I guess in conclusion, this wasn’t my preferred rental car agency. The wait time was a bit long, and the vehicle was definitely no frills. It was more of a budget car rental experience but we did save several hundred dollars, the customer service agents were friendly, and for the price savings I was happy enough with our experience.

Then after returning to the vehicle I proceeded to put our luggage in and noticed the back seat was so dirty I wouldn’t even allow a dog to sit back there. Once driving to our hotel 45 minutes away we started to get hot so we turned the air on and that is when the smell became so horrible it literally made me sick! Between the stench of smoke and what ever chemicals they used was so horrible once it was parked at the hotel it never left that spot. When I got to the counter I was made aware that all the 4 wheel drive vehicles had been taken. We were given a 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander that had almost 60,000 miles on it.
It was dark outside and the lights in the car were very dim. I noticed a nasty odor immediately when I got into the car. We had to rush and get out of Denver before 1 am it was already 12:15 am before the storm started or we would have been stuck for days and missed our trip to Vail Colorado. As we got onto the highway and went over 40mph the whole car was shaking felt like the car was in desperate need of an alignment. As we kept driving the car would randomly veer very hard to the right. The breaks hardly work. If we needed to stop suddenly the car would not stop. It takes time for this vehicle to stop. This car should have never been rented out. It is NOT SAFE!!!!
The next morning when there was light I noticed a crack in the windshield. The car had NOT BEEN CLEANED AT ALL IT WASN’T EVEN WIPED DOWN OR VACUUMED. There is dog hair piled on the seats inside the cup holders on the rugs. There is grime everywhere. There is a dirty napkin in between the passenger seat and the middle console with dirt grime and a pile of dog hair. There is a potato chip in the door compartment. How do I know that the person who was in the vehicle didn’t have COVID? Fox rent a car DID NOT FOLLOW ANY COVID GUIDELINES as far as cleaning the car were concerned. Not only is the vehicle NOT safe to drive it's a possibility because it wasn’t cleaned that we are exposed to COVID.
When we were retrieving our luggage from the car the keys were on the front seat and ALL the doors locked automatically we had to call a tow company because when I called FOX EMERGENCY Roadside I sat on hold for over 30 minutes and no one picked up the phone so now I have accrued a $85.00 bill for that problem. Newer vehicles DONT LOCK AUTOMATICALLY because of all the children that have died stuck in cars. We have been taking other forms of transportation here because we are afraid to drive this vehicle costing us around $50 - $100 per day.
I've finally today got through to customer service after calling 4 times sitting on hold today for over an hour Emmy from Customer service said she would get an email over to the manager of the Denver location to call me right away I have received NO CALL. I NEEDED someone to contact me immediately. Emmy from Customer service also transferred me to Emergency roadside to get this car switched out I sat on hold for 30 minutes then the phone disconnected so I called back only to sit on hold again for 45 min and have the phone disconnect. I need help with this situation immediately. Fox has not contacted me in the 3 days I've been trying to reach someone who can help. Any phone number I call puts me to a call center that takes 40-90 minutes to get someone on the phone that can’t even help with my problems.

Beware Fox Rental Car‼️ I rented a car thru Expedia. They quoted me a great price and I decided to try Fox. When I arrived at the rental office which by the way is miles from the Orlando airport the rental agent refused to see my confirmation number from Expedia and just charged me twice what they had quoted. The toll booths on the turnpike are closed to COVID-19 and had signs to proceed. I expected a bill for the tolls but, when they billed me the total charges for the tollway was $15.47 in total but they charged me $105‼️ Beware, don’t, this company are scammers‼️ Never ever again‼️

Rented a Hybrid online because we were going to do a great deal of driving in Florida at the Miami Airport location. Horrible experience! The location is in a rundown area that feels unsafe. We receive a beat Hyundai with bald tires. When we complained they said it was all they had but we could have a seat and wait. I asked how long the anticipated wait would be and the personnel the counter laughed and said hours, maybe days.
We took the car with bald tires! We tried to call several locations to see if we could tradeoff the car. Very few answered, the ones that did said they had no cars at all available. We finally drove across the state to Ft. Myers to a location and instead of calling we just showed up. Surprise! Nothing available. When the manager heard me talking of my concerns she suddenly found a car available. Literally the car they gave us did have bald tires. This is not by any means an exaggeration. They were absolutely and complexly unsafe by any standard. I will never rent from Fox Rental Car ever again and I would advise anyone reading this to also look elsewhere.

We rented a car from the Fox Rent A Car Denver Airport location. When we picked up the car, we paid a $200 deposit which (according to the rep) would allow us to return the car without filling it with gas and which (according to the rep) would be less expensive. When we returned the car, the rep said that a final bill would be e-mailed to us. About two weeks later, having received nothing, I called Fox. The message said that their goal was to provide the "absolute best customer service" and that there more than 20 callers ahead of me. Not being that patient, I went on Fox's website and sent a message on their "Contact Us" link.
It's been two weeks since I sent that message, and I've received no bill and no response to my message. I called again today and was told that there are "more than 10 callers ahead of" me. I've now been on hold for 32 minutes and am now told that there are "8 callers ahead of" me. Obviously, Fox doesn't have enough customer service reps and has poor follow up. I will never use Fox Rent A Car again.

A car rental that was supposed to be $201 ended up being $432!!!! I was so disappointed with this company. Our flight got in at 10:30PM so I didn't really notice the issues. I did notice the car smelled and the Jeep Wrangler we rented was an older model with 75,000 miles. We got it home and I am not one to normally complain, we got an older car, fine. Then we drove to another location two hours away to visit Sedona, on the way there going down hill the brakes shook constantly. As you can see from the pictures the Jeep itself was disgusting, windshield wipers did not help the situation, it was truly hard to see out of the window.
We had to be at the airport early in the morning so we wake up, start the car and the tire pressure light is on. Back left tire PSI was at 26 (should be 36, I know this because I own a Jeep Wrangler). Last but not least - I was charged DOUBLE the amount I was supposed to be charged. Needless to say our next trip in April to Phoenix we will NOT be using Fox.
EDIT: Customer service responded to my review and told me to contact customer support. I sent customer support all of my screen shots of being overcharged and everything wrong with it. Customer service responded saying that I returned the vehicle with an empty tank and that they would only reimburse me $80 OR I had the option for a $120 credit. So they still beat me out of $230!! Gas does NOT cost $230. I attached more pictures of the morning that I dropped the car off. I took pictures because of the low PSI. Then I attached a screenshot so it showed the date and my location THEN attached a screenshot of my gas receipt.
Photo of gas tank was taken before I left where I was staying on my way to the airport. You will also see the amount I was supposed to be charged and what I actually ended up paying. This company is a total rip off!!!! DO NOT RENT FROM HERE!!! You will also find a screenshot of their response email. What a joke. This site did not allow me to post photos for accuracy, you can find my review with photos on both Google and Yelp.

I rented a car from Fox Rental (Las Vegas, NV) for pickup on February 8, 2021. I did this thru Priceline, which said my total was $112.62. Great price. Until I went to pick it up. I had declined the insurance online because my personal vehicle insurance completely covers car rentals. The girl that helped me told me that since I was renting in Las Vegas that I HAD to purchase their insurance or I would not be allowed to get the vehicle and I would lose the $112.62 I had already paid! WTH! I told her I didn't need the insurance because mine covered it and she said I HAD to get it and that way they didn't have to wait to get paid if there was a problem and it would only be $62 more. I gave in. She gave me no choice. Had I not been so tired I would have thought to ask for the manager but I was tired and stressed and just wanted to be on my way.
When I returned the vehicle on the 14th I was charged an additional 97.36! I WILL NEVER RENT FROM THEM AGAIN! Additionally, the inside of the vehicle smelled and had white stuff on all seats and grimy stuff on the inside of the doors. I think all they do is wash the outside. They didn't have the fuel efficient car I had reserved and I had to take one whose gas mileage was terrible. SAVE YOURSELF AGGRAVATION and rent from a well known company like Hertz.

We arrived in Denver night waited 2 hrs in 18 degree weather for the shuttle that never came, then I had to Uber for the cost of 40$ to go 2 miles, got the the facility and waited another 1- 1/2 hrs in line. Mind you we had to leave half our party at the airport including my daughter who has cancer. Tried to call customer service with no answer the same recording saying there 10 calls ahead of you for 2 hrs??? I ask for a manager to call me no one has!! Filled out survey of experience and still haven't heard a word!!! I also wrote a complaint to Priceline that they should be careful of the vendors the use. It was awful and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone!!

I flew into Fort Myers with my husband, 8 year old and 7 month old on Feb. 7th 2021. We got the rental car and 15 minutes into the drive the tire blew out. Nothing in the road, I never hit anything and was going about 50 miles an hour. We call roadside assistance and they never answered after 30+ minutes. So we are stuck on the side of the road with 2 kids (one being a baby) and no one responds. My husband changed the tire himself with a questionable jack that was in the car. We bring the car back to the rental car place the next morning to swap it out as we were driving a lot over the course of the trip and needed 4 good tires.
We went back the next morning since it took forever to reach someone at customer service and we had just traveled all morning not wanting to drive back another hour round trip to get the car that same day with our small kids. We were told we may be charged for the tires if they look at it and find it was my fault. What??!! We had the car 15 minutes. Now, we are back home and we get a call this evening saying they are charging us $600 dollars for the one tire! That is insane! Everyone we spoke to was very rude and hard to work with. Never again will we use this rental car company! Beware!

I wish I would have found all of these reviews before we booked with this place. They are the cheapest on Priceline for a reason. I booked and used my credit card to hold the booking, and they said it would be a pending charge and not go through until the booking was complete, the charge went through the next day. I thought it was okay because we were getting the car anyway, no big deal. We get to Denver in the middle of a snowstorm, we're headed to ski so we needed to upgrade to a 4wd vehicle. The girl was happy to upgrade us to something bigger for a bigger price. That's fine, we didn't mind paying extra for the safety and room, but what was originally a $350 booking, ended up totaling over $800! What?? We didn't want insurance or anything else, so she took it all off and it ended up being just over $600, which is still outrageous for 4 days, but what were we going to do? Walk to Copper?
She told us that our car was being cleaned and it would be about 10-15 minutes, and they would bring it out to us. We waited OVER AND HOUR for the car. While waiting we watched, no joke, 4 different customers bring the cars they just got back because there were things wrong with them. One man brought his car back because it had no gas in it! This place did not have their ** together at all. We asked the girl where our car was and she apologized and upgraded us to a larger vehicle "for free" but we waited another 15-20 minutes for that one too! The truck was horse beat to **, had more miles on it than my car at home, and had seen some rough times, but it got us there.
Since my husband was the driver the credit card had to be in his name, so we paid with his card, and the girl assured me that the "pending charge" on my card would be dropped. It stayed on there for the entire time and my husband's card was charged $900. I emailed the company and no response. We tried calling and were on hold for 35 minutes before we gave up. We decided that we would dispute the charges when we went to return the car. On the day we went to return, the building was filled with at least 100 people, all waiting in line pissed. We couldn't wait in line or we would miss our flight, so we waited for the shuttle that never came. We ended up taking an Uber to the airport, while everyone else waited.
This company is a SCAM. They are the worst. I disputed the charges with my credit card company because I was never able to get a hold of anyone at all to drop the charge from my card. We book rental cars all the time, and I haven't ever HAD to leave credit card information. It usually says you have the option to pay in advance or at the time of purchase, but this place required a credit card. I believe they have no intentions of fixing our claims, so if you have the same issues, which I am positive you will if you use this company, just bypass them and dispute the charges with your credit card company.
That was just SOME of the horrendous things that we experienced with this company, I didn't even mention that we waited for the shuttle for 20 minutes in the snow at the airport arrival, the place is an uninsulated warehouse, you return the cars to a crammed lot and they had the nerve to warn us about how any "damage" to the vehicle would be something we would have to pay for out of pocket. I wish I had taken a picture of this truck that they were so worried about us "damaging". It was already put through the wringer. DON'T USE FOX RENTAL CAR EVER. Heed all the scathing reviews.

WORST experience at a car rental place. We ordered and paid online and already submitted the age group 18-24. Paid for insurance and all fees. Arrived at Fox Rent a Car and waited in line for almost 3 hours. By the time we got to the front, the worker informed us of another $400 deposit plus a $94 age fee which we were never informed about prior to this. Not to mention, did not offer to help us out at all discount wise even though we waited for 3 hours and was late to our Airbnb check in. Not to mention, we did not even receive the car that we were told we would get.
The worker then continued to yell at us for asking questions because we were confused about the extra charges. After mentioning about checking out enterprise prices, the worker angrily yelled and threw our cards back at us stating he does not have time for this and that he has a line behind us he’s worried about. AWFUL customer service. Then we returned the car (cleaned and scrubbed) so that we didn’t receive any extra chargers, and STILL got charged. Our cheap car rental ended up costing us more than everything else in our trip combined. Do not recommend this company to anyone!!!!

The very rude person I spoke with after finding additional fees on my credit card after the car was returned admitted that not telling us about these charges upfront was probably unethical but not illegal since I could find them in the very small print of the contract!! They tell me that I have to use my card and they want a $400 deposit because I'm going to have to pay for the bill. My card has a security limit on a $500 a day. They told me they could not use the card on file because I did not have it on my person. That was the end of the conversation. I was literally stranded at the Seattle airport at 12:30 at night 1200 miles from home. I showed them my reservation confirmation showed them everything that I had and it did not matter. Just now. If I could give negative stars I would. They left us stranded at the airport with no "free shuttle". We finally called a Lyft and got to their lot where we were told their shuttle was broken down. We got a vehicle for 2 days. We had an original reservation that we were unable to cancel or extend. So we had to do 2 separate reservations. When we came back after 2 days to switch cars for the second reservation they would not rent us a car because we did not have a return flight.
When asked why they rented us one the first 2 days then AND charged us $400 security deposit they said the employee should have never rented a car to us to begin with and he has been reprimanded. And basically told us we are out of luck. We then went to Avis and had absolutely no issue. We will see how long before we get our 400 back. I'm a travel nurse coming to the community to vaccinate. To set context, I regularly rent vehicles as part of my job and have done so for 30+ years. This by far was the worst ever rental experience I've had. Several years ago I did a Fox rental for a couple days so signed up for their rental points program. I noted their prices were inexpensive for a recent 60 day rental while in FL, so dug up my account info and booked the rental on their website. Upon arriving into Tampa I was told that I cannot rent for 60 days due to their policies that they need to inspect vehicles monthly and thus had to bring the vehicle back after 30 days to exchange for a new vehicle.
Despite my showing the reservation confirmation from Fox email, "June" claimed I made the reservation elsewhere. Furthermore, in a very condescending tone she loudly claimed so all could hear "Sir. We are a rental company, not a lease company". Of course she ignored the fact that the rental I made was permissible via their own website. I accepted that I would have to return to exchange vehicles. She then said I MUST get their rental liability insurance. I told her I did not because AmEx covers that (and I have literally done this several hundred times). June refused to give me the vehicle until I accepted their RLI, and with 10 people waiting and a desire to begin my vacation, I grudgingly accepted.
Today I returned the vehicle to exchange for a new one. Because I returned the vehicle per their instructions, they view the contract "complete" and did not have a reservation for the remaining 30 days. "You should have just extended the original" was the agent's response. I explained I was told I could not do that and had no choice but to bring it back. The agent could not provide the same advance rate I had booked for the 60 days, and rates were much more expensive now. In fact he told me I had to go online to make a new reservation...he was unable to do so!
'm standing right in front of him at their rental counter in Tampa International and he can't make me a reservation!! I'm now forced to make a same day reservation for 30 days in length and rates are 50% more than what I originally booked. I chose NOT to deal with Fox anymore and went to Hertz. I was originally quoted $1676.88 (before taxes) for 60 days and will now pay ~#3000. Do not be seduced by what appears to be lower rates. Worst car rental company EVER.

I recently rented a car from Fox Denver International Airport. This is my 1st time using Fox Rent A Car and is also the last time for sure. It’s not exaggerating to say Fox is the worst company of any kinds by far I have ever experienced in my 30+ years travel history.
1. It took almost 3 hours to get the car: more than 2 hours waiting in the line and additional 40 minutes for the car to be ready. This did not include about 30 min waiting for the shuttle. When the shuttle was finally coming, it is small, old and dirty, nowhere close to those of other companies that had come and gone at least 4 times during my waiting.
2. The price shown at Rentalcars.com is a trap. I ended up paid more than twice the reservation price because they said the small 2WD Mitsubishi Outlander Sports is the similar car to Jeep Grand Cherokee I booked. The retail price of Grand Cherokee is almost twice that of Outlander Sports. I had to pay a large amount of extra to get a slightly larger AWD car. Other companies also play the same trick but none to this extreme. I rented a Nissan Maxima from Avis before. They gave me a Chrysler 300. It was not what I wanted but not far off. Regulators should crack down this practice to force rental company list all their “similar” cars.
3. The car I finally got had several serious problems. The right-side head light was not on. The “low tire pressure” light initiated after about 5-mile drive. The driver side wipe is in such bad condition that the windshield was completely blocked after anti-freeze wash. I had to stop at an auto part store to replace the wipe blander myself. I haven’t mention that the car was very dirty and had 90,000 miles on it.
4. The staff are rude and unfriendly. They tried hard to sell you various of useless items. For example, a toll pass costs $17 a day. Colorado doesn’t have toll road. Only car pool lanes around Denver area used to charged fees but no longer now.
I regret that I didn’t check reviews. It is the lowest rated company. Its high score reviews are most likely fakes. When I was returning the car, I saw two other customers were complaining. I strongly discourage anyone from using this company.

I have rented hundreds of cars in past 30 years. This was the single worst most horrifying car experience we had (the first and last time renting from Fox). They literally left us to die - and they do not have any roadside assistance - the number you call will always have ten people before you no matter when you call and you will be on hold for no less than 2 hours - if they do pick up your phone. They have no idea what they are booking, what they are renting and if the vehicle is reliable. If I can give them -10, I will. I am looking into suing them for giving us a vehicle and leaving us stranded on road overnight in -14 degrees weather. Then when they towed a new car to us after three days of calling them, it had such strong cigarette smell that I was throwing up and my son's asthma got triggered. They ruined our vacation and I am only glad that due to strangers helping us, we survived. We could have literally be dead due to their negligence..
Please read our trip report and decide when and where you would want to rent from FOX. We booked our rental from Dec. 23rd to Jan 3rd from Las Vegas Airport and chose Fox car rental as it was $90 cheaper. We made the booking for Jeep Grand Cherokee. 23rd Dec Night 10:30 PM – Fox car rental place is out in the boonies at LAS airport, not where the other car rental companies are (I understand that they might have gotten kicked out from the facility and for valid reasons) so you go to main rental place where all the proper car rental companies are - and then you take another bus to this “questionable” location in a dumpy building.
Stood in a long line with many people not wearing the mask and only 2 Fox people on the counter. Literally, after 2 hours, our turn comes and then the rep finds that the Jeep they can give us is Jeep Wrangler (not Grand Cherokee). By now, we want to get out of this place, and the Red Wrangler Jeep looks good, so we agree. Then the Fox Rep checks the jeep and somehow manages to lose the key in walking from their parking lot to the seat - 45 minutes the jeep key is still missing. It is now morning of 24th around 2 AM – they say that they have another white jeep (older/dirty) but that’s all they have. Our patience has been tested – we are tired. We take the White “dirty” jeep as we want to get out of there. Our hotel is next to the airport, so 5 miles away.
24th Dec morning – When we are ready to leave, we realize that the tires have low pressure, especially driver side back tire. We think it is due to cold weather (Cold front is moving in Utah and Nevada). We do not have the “courage” to spend 24th morning at Fox’s facility. We fill up the air and start our journey to Utah. We were supposed to reach Torrey on 24th and meet up with friends there – however we realize that with this lovely Jeep, this might not be possible. After we parked the car in Springdale, this lovely Jeep will not start. Some battery issue – in between calling Fox (phone hold for 2 hours and no one picked up the phone, if you call them, there are strangely always 10 people in line ahead of you).
We thought it might be that they closed due to X-Mas eve and left us on holding line. Finally someone had the jumper cable and we decided that if we can reach till Escalante today, that will be good. So we were forced to spend the night in Escalante, rather than Torrey. We did not want to drive in night towards Torrey with this “questionable jeep”. 25th Dec. We reach Torrey and met the friends - finally. In the evening, we realize that the air is less again in the Driver side back wheel. This is an issue now, but we do not know how big. We ask the assistance from the hotel maintenance staff and they said someone can look at it next morning.
26th Dec – The maintenance person looks and says that it might have a very small nail or leak as the tire is not loosing that much air. He said that it might take few hours to get it fixed as the shops will open by 9 AM or so and by the time it gets fixed, it might be past noon. We make a call to Fox again (No one as usual picks up after on hold for 1.5 hours – please have an extra phones and batteries if renting form Fox – one phone just dedicated to them). We fill up the air and leave for Moab which is a bigger place so more chances (or so I thought) to get help and perhaps change the car or get the tire issue fixed. We make it to Moab (thankfully) with no further issues.
27th Dec – No issue in the morning with car battery or tire pressure. We go to Arches national park as the weather is good and the cold front is moving in the next day. The national park is also extremely close to our hotel and we feel that we can get help, if needed, and we do not want to waste another day holding on to the phone line. No issues with the car – what a relief.
28th Dec – We drive to Canyonland, and the cold front has moved in. It has snowed in the night but roads are clear. No issues with the road conditions. We reach the park in the morning and park the car to see the Mesa Arch. We come back within 20 (or max 30 minutes) and the battery is dead – car will not start. There is no cell phone service. God’s grace there are few other cars and we wait and ask everyone and then finally someone had the Jumper cables and the battery comes to life.
Now, we can not really do much as the car has to run and we are scared to go on any hike in case the car battery dies again. We return back to the hotel (just after seeing one thing – Mesa Arch and then driving around in park – without shutting the car engine, taking quick photos from anyplace where we don’t have to leave the car and walk away from it). My whole family is upset and no one wants to call Fox again and go on Hold for hours. It has practically ruined our second day of vacation.
29th Dec – The car starts and have low air pressure again. We give up our sightseeing plans and call Fox – after being on a long hold, someone finally picks up and advises that there is no support for us unless we want to go to Salt Lake City or Las Vegas (both places more than 3 hours away). The only place they want the Jeep to go to is I believe Firestone and that also is nowhere in 3 hours drive. There are plenty of mechanics/Tire shops that are AAA approved in Moab but Fox says that we should just replace the troubled tire with the Spare tire on our own. We pull up by a Tire shop in Moab but the Fox person does not want to talk to the mechanic – he told us three options (Drive to closest Fox facility which is at least 3 to 4 hours away, Drive to Firestone – again at least 3 hours away or change the Spare tire on our own – whatever we feel most comfortable with). We filled up the tire and started.
We stopped at Torrey for lunch and decided that we may want to change the spare tire while there is daylight and we could get help. We borrowed the tools from a tire shop and replaced the tire. After that when we started driving, we realized that tire pressure in the Driver back is still a problem with the Spare tire. We stopped at the nest Tire shop which is in Loa (again AAA approved tire shop). We started calling Fox, and we reached Loa and still on hold. The mechanic looked at the tire and say it has a nail and you can drive but taking the nail out and repairing will take time. He looks at the spare tire (which was our initial back tire) and says it is a small leak and he can easily fix it in 30 min. We ask him to repair the Spare tire while still on hold with Fox.
Finally someone at Fox picks up and solution – call another number and the mechanic needs to send the pictures of the tires. So we call another number that we were given (wait for another 30 minutes and no one is picking up the phone – they are making the mechanic to hold the line also ) He told us that he can no longer wait. We pay for repairs and another $20 for wasting his time. It is getting late evening and we decide to somehow reach our next destination before the nightfall. We have already made two unnecessary stops and wasted more than 2 hours due to Jeep issues. So we drive along and we might have gone for an hour when the passenger front side tire makes a hissing sound and within minutes that tire is flat. Mind it, we are all on the proper roads.
With God’s grace there is a house (only one house for miles I believe) and we were able to get to the outside of this house. If we had no trouble with the car, we should have been at Bryce Canyon Ranger Program at 6:00 PM that we had planned to attend – moon night walk that only happens on the full moon days. Here we are in the middle of nowhere, it is bitter cold, night is falling fast and sun is almost ready to set. Temperatures – 4 degrees and windy like hell. My two sons now make an attempt to change the front tire with the Spare tire (thankfully we had gotten it fixed).
My other son are now showing light (using phone) as it is very dark.. We are shivering and using the Hothands in hands toes, and in our cap by ears and cheek – our eyes are watering. We used all our hothands supply to keep us a bit warm. My son is using one phone to call Fox – and we are holding. I am literally crying and we fear that we might freeze to death as temperature is falling. I decide that I have to ask the help from the house owners, though my boys are worried that I might get shot for trespassing (we are not ** and look different – our color and accent is apparent to anyone). I take out my jacket as I do not want to give any indication that I have anything (like gun, knife) on me. I ring the bell and keep my hands up in the air and yell that I need help please, we are stranded. I have boys and we are freezing as our jeep has flat tire.
With God’s grace, an elderly man opens the door and offers to help – that is Mr. ** (my God’s angel). We spend another two hours and Mr. ** opens a room for us and turns on the heater. He gives us flashlight and tools and has an air pump so we can fill the air in the tires. We somehow change the tire and reach our hotel very, very late in the night – tired, almost sick and exhausted. My one son has started coughing and having runny nose as the weather had dipped to -14 degrees when we were out changing the car tire.
Please note that I continuously called the two numbers of Fox (roadside assistance and the other number they had given us in Loa to call for mechanic) and one woman at Fox did pick up the phone after hours of calling, sympathized with us and told us that we still need to call the other number as she can’t do anything. On the other number, I must have left many frantic, crying messages but no one called back. It is a fact that if Mr. ** had not helped us that night, our family would have been frozen in the car.
I also called Geico my insurance company and they tried to reach Fox and after an hour, they said that they can’t get us any help (tow car, repair tire, replace battery) as the car belongs to Fox and no one is picking up the phone at any rental location (Salt lake city, Las Vegas). One would think that after several screaming, crying messages someone would return the call from Fox – No – you are wrong.
30th Dec – In the morning, finally around 7:30 AM we get a call from the Fox mechanic shop number where we had left several messages last night. The guy wanted to know how we were. He told us that he replied as fast as he could (more than 12 hours later). Then he said that we need to get to the closest mechanic shop and ask the mechanic to call him and he will pick up the phone as now he knows that we need help. We went to the mechanic shop immediately and called him back – no one picked up after an hour of being on the phone (and no one ever called us back).
After again wasting morning 1.5 hours in calling – we went to Bryce canyon – and our plans are now changed from Stay Away from People to Go anywhere, where we find at least some people to help us. We stay at the Lodge inside Bryce National Park as we are worried if the Jeep can be trusted. We park the Jeep at Lodge and take walking trails so we do not have to use the jeep.
31st – We plan to take a driving tour of Bryce and leave for Kanab. In the morning, we check that tire pressures are Ok. Jeep starts and we go to Rainbow point (the last stop on scenic drive) and get down and turn off the engine. We take few pictures. We might have been out of the car for no more than 10 minutes – as it is just a viewpoint. Car is dead again – engine dead. And I again start asking everyone if they have the jumper cable and can give us the jump. We call the park ranger as my son finds a spot where he has signals to call for help. After 40 minutes of waiting, someone gives us jump – and while returning, we see the park ranger and let him know that we finally got rescued. Now, we have missed the 11 AM ranger program – the two programs that I really wanted to do at Bryce – both went out the door.
We can’t risk anymore so we drive to Kanab to make it well before sundown as you never know when Jeep will run or stop. No one as usual picks up the phone at Fox - they are busy partying and taking other customers' money. 1st Jan morning – the first thing I do is get up early and call Fox from all our phones – since there are always 10 people in line. After an hour or so, finally someone comes on line and I am literally almost screaming at him for leaving us stranded multiple times on the road.
Perhaps I forgot to tell you that in Moab, the Fox rep kept on saying that I have a Red Jeep when I said that NO, I have a White Jeep as our rental was for initially for the Red Jeep and on their end, they never switched it to White Jeep – they are so disorganized that they can’t find your rental. I tell him that we have trouble with three tires, three times dead battery – he said that he will send us a replacement jeep in Kanab (since we can not drive 3 hours to Vegas and get the jeep replaced by ourselves). He also said that we should have the replacement Jeep in few hours and someone will call me. Basically we spent 1st January sitting in the room, calling Fox asking information and getting no information. The jeep that was supposed to come by noon came after 5 PM. We wasted the entire day and our family was in bad mood.
One would think that now our troubles will be over since we have a new purple jeep. You wish. Remember Fox – they are cunning like Fox in taking your money and then disappearing. This new jeep has such bad smoke smell that the tow truck driver also stepped back when we forced him to smell it. He said the he is only dropping off the Jeep and towing the White jeep – he can’t do anything about the smell. So now, we have to leave the jeep windows open all night (forget about driving in the evening anywhere with that strong smell).
2nd morning – Two of us are already coughing and have runny nose due to the incident on 29th night, now we have to drive the jeep with windows a bit open and wearing masks as we can’t breathe. I get headaches with cigarette smell so I can’t sit in the car for an hour without throwing up – now we have to make unnecessary stops and let the car air out and I have to walk in fresh air. The car is freezing cold and we have to bundle up with the comforters from the hotel. It is a disaster.
3rd morning – our plan to see Zion is gone. Everyone is in a bad mood and we have headache. We also have to have extra time to stop on the way so we all can breathe. Somehow we get back to Vegas and my son returns their trashy Jeep. They ask us to call the customer service number – no apology and yes, they took the full money for the car rental.
Since then we are trying to reach the customer service person and have spent 9 hours of time on hold. Mind it, if you smoke, they charge you $250 but they can give you a car which someone else has smoked in. We got in touch with one guy and he said that there is no one else we can talk to in senior leadership, and there is no email or phone number to reach anyone else. For our troubles, he keeps us on multiple holds and tries to give us, I believe $100 back as that is how much he got approved. He can’t even refund our full car rental money as according to him – you drove both the Jeeps and so they were “drive-able”.

I booked an midsize SUV for my trip in Colorado between Dec 27 thru Dec 31. My flight was delayed for 3-1/2 hours, when I got to to Fox rental facility, I was told they have rented it out to someone else because the corporate policy won't hold any car for more than 3 hours. It was about 6 pm, I was tired and asked them if they can assist me with any other cars they have on the lot. They flat out told me they don't have anything for me and they can't help me even though they never send out any messages to me to let me know the SUV was rented out. I was stranded but lucky for me I found another SUV from Avis, where they even upgraded for me without charge just because I'm a Costco member. This car rental company is The Worst company and customer service I have ever encountered, don't let cheap price fool you. This horrible experience left a bad taste in the mouth, I regretted that I selected Fox for rental car.

(A scandal I need to rate 1 star instead of 0 stars, in order to alert all of you!) This is an organized group of trained people, whose aim is to deceive you and steal your money. For the second time in a row, we fell again into this defrauding company. Fox rental a car robbed us money and there IS NO WAY to get in contact with anyone: customer service Email, Face book, Websites, call center,… (they actively use the technique of Ignore, avoid and Denial).
FACTS: Upon arrival the employee Mr Michael said: “I will make you an offer, you cannot refuse”. Given we had previously been defrauded in February 2020 at the Miami “Airport” station (by an employee who forced us to add an insurance we never asked or needed, case officially reported to the station and on the social media) - we answered “ NO”. But then he added: “You should trust me, If you return the car empty, it costs you only 3US$ to refuel the car."
After returning it with some fuel, we were (obviously) charged for the whole missing fuel. There has been no WAY to get in contact with the scammer Michael, his office manager and the management of the company in general, neither on the day, nor later (5 months later still). As a consequence we have reported these repeated sales fraud techniques to the BBB and to the respective authorities. Remember, that FOX being cheap, means YOU WILL PAY the difference (with interest) in phone calls, nerves and a lot of time wasted, after the rental. This is the worst scamming company ever met in USA
Short note on reaching the station: When you land at the airport, there is NO Fox car rental. You need to wait for a bus at least 20 minutes, drive additional 20 minutes to a station. Still this is NOT where FOX is: you need to wait for a SECOND bus (no air conditioning and no social distancing so to better spread COV19) and after a journey in 120F, you get to their third world location.

Then realized car wouldnt start, Remote start on key fob started the car in the next spot. So, I moved my stuff to the other car and went on my way. I realized when I was 2 hours away, I had left my wallet in the first car and called. After a bit of a hold (not the 45 min the recording said to expect -- much shorter) I ended up in a call center that told me they would email the people in Denver and if they found it they would call me back.
After another call to them on Friday., also with no call back, I returned the car on Saturday and talked to the person at the counter, who said "do you know how many black Jeep Renegades we have" and didn't even check if the one in spot 35 was unrented. I feel if they would have checked when I first asked, there was a good chance of finding it, but now, 5 requests in the last 2 weeks have resulted in zero response (other than the cursory response at the counter). FWIW, the only thing "lost" is the cash in the wallet and replacing id/cards, The credit/debit cards were not ever used fraudulently.

I can relate to everyone’s negative feedback and complaints. I went through the worst service with this dishonest company. I made a reservation online through economic bookings and was given a good rate at $28.00 per day for the vehicle for only 4 days. I made my first deposit of $25.69 to reserve and there was a difference of $90.00 due once I got to Fox Rent A Car and that’s including taxes and fees.
I was told to present my voucher at fox but when I got there the lady never cared to take a look at my voucher she only asked for my Id and credit card. Then told me they did not have the same car I reserve but they were willing to give me a similar one at the same rate which was supposed to be $28 which she never mentioned, then she asked me about insurance which I never chose when asked the first time online but I still said no to her, then she asked if I was going to pass through tolls which I also said NO that I was staying local.
I asked her to give me more details on that and she said if I pass through the toll there was a fee of $15.00 every time but through fox rental it would only cost me $11.00 So then she suggested I added it just in case if I needed. I asked her If I still had to pay even if I didn’t drive through the tolls. She said NO that I would only get charged if I used it. She lied to me. I am not sure what these people be adding to the customers reservation but I when I got my credit card statement there was a charge of $303.58 which made no sense. They overcharge me for who knows what.
When My total the whole time should it only been $115.60 just for the car rental and no extra services. I made sure that’s what I was going to be paying before picking up this rental. I called the company I made reservations with just to make sure there were no surprises. This fox rental company are the super dishonest. Also my rental was so dirty inside and outside. I would expect a clean vehicle specially with the COVID-19 but No it was filthy but I was too tired to go back due to all the hours of traveling. I’ll never go back to this place.
I had call customer service trying to get an explanation for these charges and they just kept transferring me after waiting for hours so I decide to take it up to my credit card company which I have provided proof of the original charges that Was supposed to be charged from day 1. They should close this business if they gonna continue to rip people off. This is disgusting what these people are doing to hard working people that are only trying to go on a trip with a peaceful mind and stress free. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY.

Seriously disappointed in the quality and conduit of what $437 got me. It smells like wet dog and has dog hair in it at pick up. I’m allergic so it has been dreadful. I have also documented this as well with pictures. Charged for $32 for gas, I could fill it up when I get back.

This was my 3rd time renting from Fox Car rental and I've never had any issues before but THIS time was the worst experience I have ever experienced! We reserved a Dodge Journey 2 months in advance online. We read the policies and even called a week before to make sure everything was good since we was traveling on a holiday week. We waited an hour in line just to get to the counter and it wasn't even busy. But now I see why it took so long. Everyone had problems with their car rental and the "policies".
Since we was paying with a credit card our deposit was $150 which the agent told us. I asked the agent (Nassef **) for the total price which he stated $417. He asked us to enter our credit card. We usually don't use credit cards but for rentals we so since most car rental places charge more for a deposit for debit cards. So we put just enough for the car rental and deposit plus a little extra. Once we inserted our credit card as instructed then Nassef told us the real total of $532 which made our card decline. We only $520 on the card since we were told and expected that the car rental will be under $500.
Once the card declined we told Nassef to just take off the Sun Pass charge and rerun the card. Then he stated that their policy was they cannot use the same card if it got declined and we had to use a debit card which charges $400 deposit on top of the car rental fee. We asked him to show us the policy that shows you can't rerun decline card and he didn't know where that policy was so we asked for a manager. The card only declined because he told us the wrong total amount when we asked. He then was trying to get us to use a debit card so they can charge us extra. The manager walked by twice but then when we asked to speak to the manager he was all of a sudden on a conference call in the back. We looked all through the website to find the policy and could not.
We have booked a week's rental two months in advance and we were traveling with five children so not being able to get a rental car was not an option and neither was paying an additional $400 from our debit card. Since it was a holiday week all other car rentals were sold out. We waited over 45 minutes to speak to a manager Mike **. In the meantime we called the corporate number to file a complaint which they also could not find the policy and just stated that it was a local policy and not written down anywhere. It's ridiculous that they will have a policy like that because people cards can decline for many reasons especially when traveling to a state like Florida where people come from out of town and internationally all the time and if their bank doesn't recognize the charge. They'll automatically decline it and they'll have to wait 5 minutes to get it approved.
They even said in that situation they could not accept the decline card again. Foolishness. After waiting for the manager he finally just gave the agent a thumbs up to rerun the card when he saw I was on the phone with the corporate office. At no time to the manager Mike even come to speak to us. The whole staff was unprofessional with many of the agents repeating the same policy which no one could find on the website or in their internal system. After almost 2 hours dealing with Fox Car rental the manager finally gave the thumbs up so we were able to get the car rental in which we were told to pick any car in row 7. The agent says since they didn't have a Dodge journey available which we requested just pick any other car in that row which we did.
Once we were leaving and handing the paperwork outside they told us that the car we chose we could not get because it was from row 8 Even though it was parked in row 7. So then we had to turn around and switch cars after we have put all of our luggage and five kids packed up in the car. The guy working in the garage apologized that the car we chose was parked in the wrong row which was not our fault at all. Overall this was a terrible experience and I will never rent from Fox rental Car again!

Everything about this rental was a rip off. It's amazing they are still in business. The car we received was nothing like what we reserved. The car we reserved was to be 4-wheel drive. We received a much smaller car with no 4-wheel or even all-wheel. Considering we were driving in snow that detail was very important. The car was very dirty. Obviously it had not been cleaned - and for sure not sanitized. Then we received a credit card charge for $315 over the agreed price. There is no way to contact customer service to inquire about the overcharge.

I rented a car from these people, a cheap deal in Aug 2020. Stood in line to get my car. Over an hour. Had about 2 people there working to do intakes for pickups. Finally got my car, they didn't have what I wanted, but offered an upgrade. That was fine. Since the first experience wasn't so bad I tried them again in Nov 2020. HORRIBLE, just don't do it. First, my flight departure changed in Oct so I called cust svc. On hold 90 mins only to be told I can't modify my "pay now" reservation under ANY circumstances. Huh? I didn't change my flight. The airline did. Said I had to cancel the reservation but I wasn't allowed.
After a TON of bickering was told they can't, sorry, but I could arrive a day early and pick up a car and pay a day rate of like $160 with taxes for ONE DAY. My rental reservation was for $20/day. I called and after 3 hrs on the phone was told they'll give me the extra day for $20. I arrived on my travel date and the lady at the desk said if I wanted to pick up early I had to cancel reservation and pay penalty? No way. After bickering and telling them I was on the phone to their lousy cust svc for over 3 hrs in Oct she cancelled it finally, redid the reservation but charged me $25 for the car not $20.
By this time I had enough. I took the jeep I wanted. Then the jeeps smelled awful I had to go buy an air freshner. Sick. THEN later that day I had a flat out in the desert. No roadside nothing. They make you PAY for roadside IF you want it. I said, "No thanks, I have AAA" and went. When I got the flat I found a place for air, fortunately. That was Friday Nov 6. Today is Nov 9. I'm on hold 14 mins asking them what do I do, do I fix the flat or do they fix it. 14 mins on hold to ask a question. Bear in mind I had 3 hrs on the phone trying to change a reservation they wouldn't change. NEVER EVER USE THESE PEOPLE EVER AGAIN AS LONG AS I LIVE, EVER EVER EVER.

I was traveling because my father has just passed and I did not know when I would be leaving. When I booked my flight home I booked it for 6 am and called the Fox company to confirm they were open 24 hours. No one answered the phone and their recording stated they were open 24 hours.
I got to the company at 4:30 am for my 6 am flight and they were closed. Security guard was extremely rude and told us we could not leave the car anywhere and to wait until 5 am when they open. I missed my flight and had to pay an extra fee to rebook my flight. Not only that I had carry my father's ashes with me home and was on a strict time frame to get home. I reserved an economy car for a week in Denver for my friend's wedding in Telluride in September so my boyfriend and I could road trip and enjoy the areas. Upon getting into the shuttle from the airport, the van smelled of strong scented fumes to mask an unpleasant smell, and the seats were dirty/had stains. We were relieved to get out of that shuttle! When we arrived to pick up the rental car, my boyfriend stayed on the other side of the building with our luggage and to keep socially distanced.
The male associate assisting me upon knowing we were driving to Telluride, told me an economy car would not work and that I had to have an SUV type vehicle. In the past, if an associate thought I needed an upgrade they generally offered it complimentary. In this case he told me the economy car would not make it (he literally told me it would likely break down) and I was pushed aggressively into signing into a higher sale for fear that the car would break down on us. He also said not to worry about filling the tank and asked no other questions.
On the trip we quickly noticed the vehicle smelled bad, the outside was beat up to the point I had to take pictures as proof it was before us, and the breaks were in need of replacing. The breaks were so bad I had to press it to the floor before it would come to a full stop. I returned the vehicle with a half a tank of gas, and informed the intake guy of it. I went in to the bathroom and wanted to speak to someone before our flight, but there were at least 15 people waiting in a line. We didn't have the time if we wanted to reach our flight, so we left.
The next day I received an e-receipt with the upcharges including a charge for a full tank of gas. I sent in a review on my experience, but no one has reached out at all. We had an absolutely poor experience and I was nickel and dimed. I regularly rent from other well known companies and have always had wonderful experiences on a budget. This experience was horrible, and they took $500 from me--more than if I had gone somewhere else. With this experience, I would NEVER recommend them to friends or family.

It took about an hour from taking 2 shuttles and waiting in line to getting our minivan. We get to choose one from 4 minivan parked. Everyone who assisted us from shuttle bus driver, rental desk agent, parking agent and return agent were very helpful and friendly. No hidden fees, we refused all offers for insurance since the credit card I used covers it for free. We paid the same amount I was quoted online & Fox returned my deposit after passing return inspection. We are happy we have Fox a chance and save money too. We will definitely use again.

I booked my Fox rent a car through Rentalcars.com. The price I was charged by Fox was $190 more than I was quoted. It was only a 2 day rental for local travel in Miami. Watch out for hidden fees. I was charged $52 for opting to use my own car insurance instead of theirs. also, after the rental they claim that I return the car with an empty tank. it was completely full. there is also a optional fee to pay road tolls through them. they claim it would save me lots of money. Not sure if it did. I did not encounter any toll roads.

They put $150 security deep down on car which is fine. The only problem is after I returned car and rep said all is fine. It’s been 10 days charge is still on my cc.. When I called 3 Times they put you on hold with billing dept and recording says 10 calls in front of you. Just called my cc company and disputed the charges. This company is awful. You save nothing. They advertised for a Chevy Equinox or equivalent. When we got to Salt Lake City, she said they didn't carry an Equinox (Compact SUV according to Motor Trend) but we were getting a Jeep Compass (Subcompact SUV per Motor Trend). Then she volunteered that four adults would not be comfortable in that car. BUT she could happily up-sell us to a Mitsubishi Outback. Only another $153. We took it because we had no choice. Upon returning the car, the other group in our transit bus said the same thing happened to them. Also the American Express charges were very confusing, looking like we were charged for a rental in Los Angeles. Got a third charge. If I added them up, it equaled the receipt, but totally confusing.

After having a bad rental experience. I waited on hold for 2 hours and 40 min to speak to a Fox representative. I spoke to a very nice man who listened to me complain and tell my story. After explaining how bad the rental car was he contacted a supervisor and Fox reimbursed my credit card for a good portion of the rental price. I felt the price was fair for what I received. I understand mistakes happen in business and as long as the company was willing to reimburse me for my troubles I am happy to change my opinion and review. I have used Fox in the past and always had a good experience, Happy to know this time was the exception and that they do care and value my business. I will give them another chance in the future. Giving only 4 stars because I did have to spend a long time on hold and the experience.

We made a reservation weeks in advance of our trip to Tampa, Florida. We got to the rental car area and waited 45 mins to speak to an agent. After the agent offered us multiple upgrades on the vehicle, extra insurance, and fuel prepayment, which we declined, she ran my credit card and said the chip part didn't work and refused to swipe it or punch in the numbers manually - (my credit card worked at the coffee shop 15 mins earlier) - she offered then to put a $400 hold on my debit card to finish booking my car for the week. I refused that and she said I should probably just go to a different car place. We went to a new rental place where not only did my credit card run just fine, but the agent there told us that Fox was turning people away all day for one reason or another because they ran out of cars for the reservations taken - If I could give zero stars I would have.. Worst Experience Ever!

As soon as I boarded their shuttle I had alarms go off. The AC was blowing hot air on a warm muggy night. The shuttle itself was dirty. Built-up dirt on all the window frames. It was obvious that it had not been cleaned in a long time. The driver was not wearing a mask. There was one hanging on the dash. When we arrived the girl at the desk was friendly. She gave us keys to our rental and told us it was right outside. So we went to the described vehicle loaded all out luggage. Went to start it and got error message of no key present. Finally went back in and was told we went to wrong car. Employee came out and went to a car further down the aisle and brought it to us. Beginning next morning the NEEDS SERVICE light came on every time we went somewhere.
As for safety, we went to transport relatives to a family wedding. The seatbelt for rear seat was broken. It had been taped by someone so Fox was aware of the problem. We had to drive 30 miles with an unrestrained passenger. On the day of our return flight we were told they opened at 5 am. We arrive to find no one there but the doors were unlocked. About 5:30 a shuttle showed up. Driver went in and confirmed no one there. He told the many clients waiting to leave keys in rental and to board the shuttle. AC on this one was frigid with outside temp of 50 degrees.
Arriving at terminal he drove to the far end of the terminal. No asking what airline. We had to walk to the opposite end to Southwest. I am disabled and this was quite a task for me. We wound up missing our flight home and had to rent a car from another company to get back to where we were staying. Also this caused me to miss my dialysis on Tues. morning, endangering my health from fluid build-up. I will never rent from them again. I got an email expressing concern and was told I would hear from them within 48 hours. Here we are 5 days later and I haven't heard a word. AVOID FOX RENTAL AT ALL COST.

I told her my reservation was already paid for. She said so are theirs, pointing to the guests sleeping along the windows. She said I could wait until 0100 hours, but the chances of me getting a car were zero. I asked her to cancel the reservation. She told me I could not cancel because the rental time of pick up had passed. They charged me for a car they never provided and the struggle to get my hundreds of dollars back is ongoing.

From the moment we rented the car we had a bad experience. Our first car was dirty, had mask (pandemic) in it, dog hair everywhere. Just disgusting. We drove off and brought it back. Our second car was disgusting, had cigarette butts, mask and hair everywhere... Again, we brought it back. Our third car was dirty and the check engine light was on and it barely wanted to drive. We brought it back. We still had 3 days left on our vacation. We decided to rent elsewhere.
Upon return they charged us $150 extra for gas charge.. We literally just filled the car up with gas. The manager lied and told me they wouldn't charge me 450 instead of 300.. They did. We had to call our bank to attest the charges. All during this time I emailed the manager, corporate office, called customer service and left messages, sent photos and everything. I haven't received not one call back. I went over to another rental dealership and was instantly satisfied. I will never rent from Fox again. Let me mention that the manager charged me 450 but told me he was going to give me a discount and that I only needed to pay 160.

I arrived for my prepaid reservation and noticed 4 representatives handling 2 customers. When it was finally my turn after 20 minutes waiting with only 1 person ahead of me I was told they had no cars. Someone else came to the counter and a representative announced that any reservation made today would not be honored.
I was told that I would have to wait until phoned. From 3 until 5:30 I waited for the 30 minute anticipated call. I never got the call but returned to see them giving cars to those just walking up. I waited in line again with one person ahead of me. The same rep who said to wait for his call said he tried to call but found that he called the wrong person. He then gave me a car at 6 PM when my prepaid reservation was for after 2. Obviously I missed by 4:00 appointment for which I rented the car.
They had a full day in advance to allocate cars to those who prepaid and reserved but, didn't bother to reserve those cars and meet their contracted commitments. Breaching contracts for me and others seemed normal. They still had 4 reps handling 1 or 2 customers at a time and at the car park to retrieve my car they had even a greater ratio of employees to customers. Sloppy, inefficient, inconsiderate and no skill in maintaining inventory. Suggest that Priceline and customers dump this trashy company.

My experience with the Fox Rent-A-Car company was awful, to say the least. Upon arriving to pick up the car there was an extremely long line with only three employees there to serve the customers. The first thing I noticed was the lack of social distancing within the business and most importantly the irresponsible use of masks by the employees themselves. After waiting in line for almost an hour I was called to the desk by a woman named Katherine to receive my rental car.
After filling out the paperwork and being charged a $400 hold to rent a car for one day, Catherine handed me the keys to a Ford fusion hybrid and told me my car was in spot four. I walked outside to get in the car and noticed one of the employees had just pulled it into spot four. In spot number four sat a Ford fusion, the same model and color as Catherine had advised my rental car would be. I proceeded to the car got in and pushed start while having the key fob in the seat next to me. I then drove to my hotel turned off the car and went upstairs to put my bags in my room before leaving for an appointment.
When going back to the car and trying to start the car again I got a message saying that keys were not present even though I had the keys in my hand. I quickly realized that I had been given either the wrong keys or the wrong car before leaving the lot. I quickly called both Fox Customer Service and Roadside Assistance and waited over an hour to get a response from anyone. I finally was able to talk to a man from Roadside Assistance and he advised me to leave the car at the hotel with the keys under the mat and a third-party tow truck would come out and receive the car since the company had mistakenly given it to us. He then advised us to take a taxi back to Fox Rent-A-Car and that we would be compensated for this as well as be able to get the correct car.
Upon arrival back to the company, we had figured out that the reason we were able to take this car was that the employee that had just pulled it up was still close enough to the car for the key fob in his pocket to allow the car to start. When we went back inside we noticed again that they were still an extremely long line and employees wearing masks improperly. After waiting about 20 minutes a manager finally came to talk to us about our situation. His name was Keith and he did absolutely nothing but make our situation worse.
When explaining what had happened Keith proceeded to laugh at my girlfriend and I and told us that it just “sucked for us”. We told him that due to his employees giving us the wrong car we missed an appointment and our only day of vacation in the Denver area. Keith did not seem to care one bit about our situation, and rather than trying to make amends told us that he could do nothing to help us and to call corporate. Keith was also not properly wearing a mask and obviously didn’t care for the safety of his employees and especially of his customers. He also told us that this was our fault and it wouldn’t have happened if we had just tried to lock the car with the keys before pulling off with it. He offered us no type of compensation and pretty much told us to get out of there.
We finally received the correct car around 4 PM when we were supposed to have it by noon. When getting in the car finally, it was extremely dirty and had obviously not been cleaned. There were scratches all over the car and dirt all over the seats and on the floor. Because it was so late in the afternoon we had no choice but to stay close in the area since our flight left early the next morning. Before returning the car we put a full tank of gas into it and had traveled approximately 50 miles total while having it in our possession. We returned the car on time and promptly left for the airport.
This morning I attempted to contact customer service as Keith had rudely told me to and was left with the same results as before. Customer service said that there was nothing they could do and had also charged us extra, falsely claiming we had left it with a half tank of gas and had put over 400 miles on the car. This is impossible as we only had the car for about 12 hours, only driving to Roxborough State Park and back. They blatantly lied and charged us extra. After arguing with the customer service associate they finally agreed to take off the fraudulent charge but refused to either refund our money or even to compensate us for the rideshare ride we had to take in order to get back to the rental lot.
My girlfriend and I are appalled by the lack of customer service and care that this company has for their customers. I can’t even imagine how many other people have had this same terrible experience as we have. I have been advised to go to the Better Business Bureau and report the situation. I still have pictures of the employees not following state-mandated coronavirus precautions as well as photos of the disgusting, dirty car we received.

DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY. NO MATTER WHO YOU GO THROUGH, DON'T SELECT THIS COMPANY AS YOUR CAR RENTAL! It's worth a few more bucks to rent somewhere else. You may THINK you're getting a good deal, but even after I paid 135 dollars on Hotwire to rent the car for 4 days in Las Vegas, I had to take 2 shuttles to get to the place after a long flight (even though they're listed as being "on-site" at the airport.) Then, no matter what state your from or what state your own auto insurance is from they'll tell you that your state is a no-fault state and that you HAVE to buy their insurance, which is, of course, way more expensive than other carriers daily rates. And even after I told her I do not want the roadside assistance, she added it to my bill anyhow! (I didn't realize it, I just assumed she would do what I asked).
The end result is for 4 days in a compact car it cost me $135 online and $453 in person when I got there. And the whole thing is so scripted, it's like she wasn't even listening to me. Like she was a telemarketer. I would bet money they get paid a commission to make sure you buy the insurance! The company is a huge scam. And everyone I talked to has told me they had a very similar experience. Trust me, pay the extra 4 bucks and rent ANYWHERE else!!!!

I called customer service to see what my options were since I needed to be at the airport and catch a flight. I was on hold for 20 minutes then decided to call roadside assistance instead. They quickly answered and said they could send someone to look at it or tow it. I explained I had to go catch a flight. He said I could leave the key with the vehicle but it would be my responsibility if anything happened to it. Frustrated, I nervously left the key hoping it would be picked up soon.
When I arrived home later that evening there was no missed calls or emails from Fox rental. I nervously called to make sure it was picked up and would be credited back at least the last day since I had to pay for myself to get to the airport (which was more than a day rental). Instead I waited on hold (listening to the recorded message that they provide the best customer service) for 1.5 hours. Then they continued to tell me that the car was never picked up. I asked that they would please look more into this matter for me. He transferred me to roadside service and I was on hold again for another 15 minutes. Finally they called the tow truck driver and verified the rental was picked up and was back the FOX rental store. He then said he does not take care of billing so I'd have to call them back tomorrow at 8:00.
I woke to find a email receipt for the full amount charged. I called billing and was on hold for another 1 and 15 minutes before I got to talk to the RUDEST customer service person. I asked to speak to another person since he was clearly frustrated. He then put me back on hold at the end of the line. I refused to waited another 1.5 hours to speak to another representative. However, they billed me for a toll in the amount of $6.00 > admin fee of $15.00 due 7/29/2020. A week later they sent me a new balance (this is a day before the original bill was due on 7/28) and suddenly they changed it! WHY? What were the new charges? Suddenly the toll changed to $14.35 > admin fee of $30.00. THE ORIGINAL WAS NOT EVEN DUE YET. So consequently, a $6.00 toll fee with a $15.00 admin fee (just because) turned into a $44.35 transaction. I'd give them a zero if I could. The way they do business is crooked and disgusting.

Fox Rent A car is withholding my $150 security deposit without cause. I thoroughly cleaned the vehicle myself and filled the gas tank prior to return. All tolls were paid in cash and I have receipts for all of them. When I called to inquire about the increased charges on my final receipt, I was told I was being charged a cleaning fee, and any disputes I had would need to be filed at the location where I rented the car. The car was rented at Tampa International Airport and returned on the day of my departure.
When I informed the customer service representative that I was no longer in the same State and could not go there in person, the customer service representative stated that I had signed a contract agreeing to these terms. The contract does not indicate that disputes must be filed on site, and my pre-paid rental reservation does not indicate that a deposit would later be required.
I discovered the deposit requirement upon picking up the vehicle, and although the full contracted payment had been withheld from my account for over two weeks, it was adjusted to include the deposit fee after I picked up the car. The contract provided at the time of pick-up does not indicate the amount of deposit as an additional charge, and final receipt does not indicate that their inventory of charges includes a $150 deposit. This is deceptive advertising in the very least, and a fraudulent business practice to deny the customer a venue to dispute the cleaning fee.
At the time I dropped off the car, no paperwork was provided to me indicating the results of the inspection, although I stayed to observe the person performing inspection. I was assured there was no problem with the vehicle and told I would receive the report via e-mail. The e-mail document does not reflect my deposit and provides no explanation for the increased charges.

Fox Rent A Car Miami will ruin the beginning and end of your trip. I promise. Just Don’t Do It! Their company should be fined and permanently closed. I usually use Enterprise and my God I regret not using them. One, you will not be able to speak to a representative at no point in the process. They charge you $11.99 per day for a Florida Sun Pass instead of your actual tolls like most ethical companies. Also, they charge a refueling charge of $7.99 a gallon and will falsely accuse you of not returning the car on full. They also added three hours to to one. I returned my vehicle and then charged me more even though I was still covered for that time. They said I returned my car at 2 pm which is impossible since my flight departed Miami at 1:55, and I had to take a shuttle back to airport then a train, then a long walk to the counter to check my bag. I checked my bag in with over an hour to spare.
In addition, they lie in the return time of your vehicle. I pre-paid Everything for my vehicle including taxes and the amount was $148.00. Once I was on the way home, my email statement from FOX was $294. Now I must dispute charges with my credit card company because no matter how long you hold, they do not pick up the phone. I have been on hold for more than 2 hours. It’s a bait and switch scam. By the time you get to their location which is NOT AT THE MIAMI AIRPORT, you will have no choice but to rent from them even though you will be disgusted at their extremely high fees, long walk and train ride to the rental car area in Miami Airport, long wait for the shuttle to Fox, rocky 10 minute ride to Fox, and finally, the 40 minutes you will have to wait online. At the end of checkout, my complaints about the bait and switch were rebuttal with my representative’s snarky comment, “When you own your own company, you can make your own rules.”
I know you may be tempted because the prices SEEM lower, but there is a reason they only have 2 stars. This will ruin your trip from the beginning. Oh, and not to mention, I was supposed to have a FORD EXPLORER and I was given an old Toyota Forerunner. It was an ugly vehicle, but I was stuck with it because it had been almost two hours since I landed at the airport and I was late to my appointment. And literally as I’m typing, and I have all of my bars, my phone was just disconnected after being on hold. FIGURES!

Do not rent from this company! I feel cheated! I did make reservation via FOX Car Rentals US. IF THIS GETS RESOLVE I will POST A MORE POSITIVE REVIEW. The rental company US Fox Car Rental is affiliated with U Save Rent a Car located in San Jose – 600MTS East from Casino Fiesta, Rio Segundo. CED 3 101 602907 – CR 1005. Telephone number is (506) 2430-4648. This reservation was made via FOX Rent a Car, United States. Reservation number was WFX0368999. Invoice number is **
I rented this car from March 9, 2020 to March 23, 2020. Besides getting a whole different car than I got confirmation for, the rental charge was double from what was indicated in the original rental document. I call this ‘Bait and Switch’. Unfortunately I had to discontinue our vacation because of the Coronavirus situation and travel restrictions back to the United States. (And… we loved our stay/vacation in Costa Rica!! ☹) Because of this I needed to return the car on March 13, 2020 (early).
For the initial rental period and additional Hot Spot GPS I paid a total of $928.12. This amount included the rental fee, the Hot Spot and taxes etc. The Hot Spot was not being able to be re-charged after 1 day use. I called the Costa Rica office about this (spoke with Mr. Warren Mora) and was told that the amount paid for the Hot Spot and the car rental fee would be adjusted and returned when the car is returned. I was told that there would be a credit issued to my VISA Credit Card. This has not happened as of today!
Here is what I still expect to reimbursed for:
** 6 days car rental fee for early return** Hot Spot use ONLY 1 day because of charging issue. Paid $140 for it.
When returning the car to the rental location in San Jose, I was told by the office staff (Tiziana ** and Juan Carlos **) that these amounts will be credited back by the Manager to my Credit card. This has NOT HAPPENED YET. Our days in Costa Rica were wonderful! Unfortunately, I would like to have the above issue resolved so that we come back again to enjoy that beautiful country!

It was the worst customer service I have ever experience. Our first car - which the guy said was brand new, it had five miles on it - broke down within 10 min. The engine was smoking and we had to pull into a grocery store parking lot. We called them and an hour our second new van was on its way but then the tire popped on the highway and the guy never made it to us. So that is TWO “new” vans that broke down. We ended up sitting in the grocery store parking like for FOUR HOURS. FOUR. In the florida heat - we couldn’t start the car because it made the engine so much more worse.
They sent us around in circles calling a bunch of people that were “supposed” to help us. One of the guys who WORKED for the company even said “This is life we go through problems, we’re not in charge of any inconvenience.” When it is THEIR company. We wasted a whole day on our vacation sitting in the parking lot because nobody could “get to us” when we were about ten minutes away. Even when we tried to fight for our money back because it was a waste - they made us run around. The desk guy said to call customer service and talk to them, the guy on customer service said to talk to the desk guy. Very unprofessional. DO NOT GO HERE.
When we tried to talk and get some money back because it was obviously ridiculous- we wasted a whole day. They said they had no record of the first van. Which I have videos of us being stuck in the vans. When we were talking to the desk guy because we wanted help and he wasn’t helping - we weren’t moving until we got help - the guy upped and left his desk spot and walked out. We still stood there because we still needed help. Remind you this was a calm event. Then they called security on us. We had to leave. Absolutely no customer service. I believe they need to be shut down or talked to with how terrible they treated us.

We rented a car in San Antonio on February 27, 2020. We asked for the speed pass option. It was added on out receipt and prepaid on my credit card. They billed us for Tolls saying we took the option off the morning we returned. Why would we take it off when we knew we had used tolls. The girl in San Antonio, Mary, told 4 of us that we could get refunded on the days we did not use the speed pass.
When we returned the car, we told them that we had used it one day to go to Houston, and that there were tolls on that day. She told us our account would be credited for the remaining days we did not use the it. The guy at the Billing department said that they cannot do that. We asked Mary 3 times about the refund and she stated 3 times that we would not be charged for the days we did not use it. So we get a bill in the mail saying that we owe $100.50 USD for tolls! I feel that we were lied to by the company about this. Not to mention the fact that the van we rented was a bare bones vehicle. Not even a fob to unlock doors!

I prepaid $214.76 for a car through Priceline. When I arrived to get my car at 11pm on 2-24-20, I waited in line over an hour. The first car they gave me was a Jeep Wrangler (way too big); I had reserved a Compass or similar. I waited another 45 minutes for a replacement. Without explaining, and in a rush to get rid of me due to a long line of angry customers, they somehow conned me into signing for prepaying fuel at $8.49 per gallon! You'd have to be insane to agree to that. I would NEVER knowingly agree to that. I was just exhausted and needed to get the vehicle and be on my way. I returned the vehicle, as promised, on 2-29-20 with a FULL tank of gas. Fox then charged my credit card an additional $245.37 for fuel and related taxes and fees. And now they're fighting my credit card dispute! Worst company I've ever dealt with. DO NOT RENT FROM FOX!

I needed a vehicle for a day from Fort Lauderdale to Miami airport...I made a reservation online of a Dodge Grand Caravan and headed to pick it up. My wife dropped me off at the Fort Lauderdale airport location, that it was really hard to find (I wish I never found them). So, I got to the lady at the desk and gave her my details (she was nice-be careful. It’s the way to lure you in), she asked me if I want the toll roads pass to avoid fees so I said that I can hook my SunPass device and edit the rental license plate and details so she said something that Alerted me..She said that sometimes even tho you got your sunpass device hooked up that there’s an option that the customer will be charged twice (on your sunpass device and by FOX)....and FOX charging.... Sit down guys. You won’t believe it.... $20 PER TOLL!!!! Wha.....t!?!
I decided not to take her “tolls pass deal” and just avoid toll roads. When signed out she marked on my paperwork in big letters... “HALF TANK”. That was weird but I thought it’s probably because she assigned a vehicle to me and she see how much gas there’s in that vehicle. She pointed me the direction to the lot and told me to go to section 8. While I was out there the guy outside told me to pick a vehicle from the section 8 and inspect its exterior and gas...IT WAS FULL TANK.
The same night I felt that something is fishy so I checked my credit card charges and saw an extra charge by FOX on the amount of 21.90 (when I rechecked my rental paperwork it was a PREPAID GAS CHARGE) besides the $1,000 hold. The next day when I got to the miami drop off location (by the way different location drop off is an extra $12.90) and asked them about that charge that I never ask for ($2.47 per gallon and I can fill it for $1.92 per gallon) they tried to ** me with all kind of crap and then the manager said that I can go and fill that quarter off a tank now and he will give me my money back...Need I say that I don’t have the time for it few hours before my flight. Shortly (yeah right! Shortly), be careful and stay off these cheap, scam places... Cheap will cost you more! The sad part is that I’m normally check online reviews and didn’t have the time to do it this time, poor me. Never again!!!

I purchased the gas upfront. When I brought back the car I was charged extra for gas because I was told the car I chose from the lot has a slight bigger tank although it was still considered a compact. Then I was told that the amount I signed for is only an “estimated” amount and I will only know the real cost once I returned the car. After I returned from my vacation I saw I was charged another $140 over the amount with no explanation. I have been trying to get in touch with customer service for 3 days now and no one picks up. I chose the option for a call back which took 1 day to receive. When I finally got the call I still had to wait on the line. Eventually I go through and someone picked up and hang up the line. I’ll never rent from them again.

Signed up for a rental with Fox Rent-a-car thru Priceline. The due at pick-up cost was $272.60. When I was signing in at the desk at the Tampa airport, I was asked if I wanted Toll Pass coverage. Not knowing the area, I asked if I needed it. Clerk asked where I was going, I stated to the Indian Shores area only. She stated, I would need it and the best buy would be to buy it for the week instead of daily. Said cost would be $58.00 for the week. I agreed to take it. When we returned car, found the total cost for Toll Pass was an additional $104.09. But here's the kicker. ALL week, there was not a toll booth in sight. NOT ONE!! We were charged $367.71. We never needed the purchase. I feel we were taken big time. Please, watch out for this company. We were totally taken advantage of. In addition, the car we were given was full of dings and scrapes. I took over 10 pictures of the dings before we took off. Angry!!

Wish I read more reviews before renting from Fox Rent-a-Car. I told the man taking care of me I didn't want any extras, just basics. When all was said and done, to my understanding the only thing I was paying extra for was an additional driver, $35. He told me three different times to "Make sure you don't fill your car up before you bring it back, because it's much cheaper for them to fill it up." He quoted me the price of gas in the city (Phoenix) and the price it would be for them to fill it up. I thought, that's easier for me???? Upon returning the car, the lady who checked me in said I shouldn't have done that, they charge upwards of $8 a gallon for gas in here. I was livid, he flat out lied to me. Not once or twice, but three times. They are liars and thieves. In the end it cost me the same as if I'd rented from Enterprise, which is exactly who will get my business next time.

Waited in line for 90 minutes before getting my car. Ended up being charged over $125 more than I was quoted. All of the other rental places were empty. Told the clerk I wanted a Jeep Compass that I had signed up for per their ad. Clerk told me they had no Jeeps. “We stopped buying them five years ago.” Not a business I would ever trust again.

I stood in line for 90 minutes to pick up my prepaid car rental. All of the other rental counters were nearly deserted. Do not try to save a few dollars and rent from these guys. They will also charge you for returning a car early. If you read bad reviews of this vendor they are most likely true.

I was quoted for a specific cost including all taxes. We arrived, and declined insurance and the extras only to be charge for them. And, the taxes I was charged cost more than the rental itself. I questioned all of their "tax Codes" as the individual was very vague. Tried to call customer service and of course can't get through. My friend also rented a vehicle at the same time (large group 2 cars required) through a different car provider and she was charged the exact cost of her quote. I will never ever recommend Fox car rental. I will stick with Enterprise, thanks!

Another customer scam by rental agents at the counter. I clearly stated I will refill my own gas to the car and I declined insurance coverage and asked did he need to see my declaration of my policy I brought me? He said no. Then I get charged for both. I would not rent from this company ever again. Agents make commission off these extras services when they sell them but the problem they didn't sell them. You are charged not knowing this until you return the rental. Their insurance does not cover anything if you cause any problem to the car. Example flat tires all four of them. A jeep Laredo is an expensive claim. This happened in Orlando Airport location. I was using Google maps and it took out the entrance and it was dark out with No gate and it punctured all four tires and I have a bill from them for $787.50. I was charged for insurance I declined that didn't even cover this claim. The slap in the face is when on Duty Manager says to me, Don't feel bad, this happens at least once a week here!" Sounds like to me you would put a gate there on Big lighted sign? This is another scam this location is using.

I was asked if I wanted extras, insurance, gas protection, etc. and I clearly told the agent I did not want any extras. They charged me for insurance anyway. Now I can't get them to remove the charge and can't even get through to anyone. I have called and called and been on hold for hours. Very frustrated. I am disputing the charge with my credit card company.

I had written a review about a terrible experience with Fox Rent A Car, unable to reach a human being to resolve my cancellation due to illness. I gave up. 2 hours on hold, 2 emails... BUT this morning I got a call from Penny, very sympathetic and personable, who refunded my entire payment!! I told her I was fine with paying a fee since this was a last minute cancellation but she said not my fault, I was sick and apologized because they have been so busy with this virus outbreak. I WILL BE USING FOX IN THE FUTURE!!! Thank you Penny! P.S. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because of the endless hold time.

I rented a car for three days, the day I was supposed to pick it up, I became very sick, with all the virus info going around I did not want to go out. I tried to call and cancel, willing to try and work it out and maybe get some of my money back, was placed on hold FOR TWO HOURS WITH THEIR BILLING DEPARTMENT, WHEN I FINALLY MADE IT TO TOP OF QUEUE I WAS DISCONNECTED!!! You can't get anyone to help you!!!!

I split my time between 2 states but have a Nevada license which is my primary residence. It doesn't pay to own a car either place so I rent when a car is needed. I recently rented a SUV and because I have a Las Vegas address, I was charged a $1000 hold on my credit card. Really???? They have a lot better chance catching up with a local on an issue than someone thousands of miles away, yet they punish a local. Then they charge airport service fees for a local renting off site of airport, who doesn't need to use transport service. That has got to be illegal, gouging a resident for fees for services not used.
Rent a smaller car and they don't put a hold for a thousand dollars ($1000) on your card. What's the difference. $1000 isn't going to cover a total loss on any vehicle. I started using Fox years ago and was always treated with respect and dignity, not like a thief in the night when renting a car. People who have insurance losses rent locally all the time. Why is it such an oddity in the eyes of Fox.
So it makes a lot of sense to charge a local a premium credit card hold of $1000 based on the car you rent while tourists pay the same hold fees, no matter what they rent. There's not another rental car company I have used in Las Vegas that charges a local for airport fees, transportation fees and taxes when you live locally. This place really should be investigated by the state. It is true what everyone says about long waiting lines, trying to upsell you and dragging out the rental process at all locations.
I don't know who is at the helm these days at Fox but they should go undercover and see how people are treated and embarrassed. They also run your credit without asking. I have a score in 800 and they are always telling me it is low so there might be an extra fee. Since when are car rental rates predicated on someone's credit history when paying with credit card. What business is it of theirs anyways what a person's credit score is. I don't know what happened to this company but the $1000 hold thing was the last straw and hundreds of dollars for airport fees etc that are charged when the facilities are not used. Bye Bye Fox after 20+ years.
