When renting the car, I knew nothing of the way toll roads were charged. Other than where you pull up, toss your money in the basket, green light...go. Every $3.70 toll road to and from airport, Fox Rent Car charged me $15 additional $ each until my bill was over $100. For toll roads! They have my credit card and will charge it whether I approve it or not. You don't even know you're on them because I was visiting the state, and not familiar with this. Shame on you Fox. I now see online that there are class action lawsuits against you for this. When I returned my car, you also charged me $25 for early return penalty. I brought it back 30 min. early. Really? You are glaringly unethical at every angle you can trick people. FOX named appropriately. Attorneys man up for another class action suit.

I made an reservation of "Standard - Convertible" car from the "FOX RENT A CAR" via Expedia.com on July 20, 2016. "FOX RENT A CAR", Los Angeles International Airport, 5500 W Century Blvd Los Angeles Airport (LAX), Los Angeles, CA 90045. Pick-up: Oct 1, 2016 12:30AM Los Angeles (LAX). Me, my wife and my son arrived to the "FOX RENT A CAR" at 12:45AM on Oct 1, 2016. There were 5 employees and 2 people before me in line. We was waiting in line about 30 min, because the staff were talking to each other, laughing and ignoring all in line. Me and all 5 people in line (2 before me and 3 after me) were so angry by behaviour of staff, but nobody cared about it.
I got my window. I showed my reservation. The employee informed me "They do not have Convertible car for me". They had only non-Convertible cars and also I should pay additional $12.99 for each day for unnecessary insurance (I have insurance). I asked: "How? I made a reservation 2.5 months ago!" But they suggested me to come "NEXT DAY!!!" and, maybe, they will have a Convertible car then. We got this "news" in the middle of night. My wife was very upset, she got very bad feeling because it was her dream (Convertible Car). She had illness heart. My son was almost crying.
I made another reservation with the "Enterprise" company and I asked the "FOX RENT A CAR" staff to bring us there. It was two blocks away (1.1 miles) but they did not do it. He (employee) told us: "You have two options: Come to us tomorrow, or go back to the airport." We chose the second. And we went to the airport with NO CARS from the "FOX RENT A CAR", but very disappointed.
We believe, our rights of customers were broken. We have not got the rent service from the "FOX RENT A CAR". We wasted a lot of time with "FOX RENT A CAR" and we got very bad feeling. Our health was in danger. We have not got the car based on reservation. Actually, we have not got any car in the "FOX RENT A CAR". We believe, the "FOX RENT A CAR" should not provide so poor service (or absent of service) for clients. My actual rating is -999, but I have to click 1 star to publish my opinion.

I had never rented with Fox Car Rental in the past. When I booked my flight with Southwest Airlines a prompt came up, "Do you want to rent a car?" so I did. I always had good luck with Southwest so I went ahead and booked. When I landed at Fort Lauderdale we went to the Rental Car Terminal and could not find where Fox anywhere. We finally asked and were told the shuttle bus pickup was at the end of the terminal away from all the other shuttles. We arrived at a broken down old gas station and that was their pick up location. There were 6 renters in front of us, and we had to wait for over an hour to get our turn at the desk.
When we were checking in, we were repeatedly yelled at for not taking the extra insurance and toll road transponder. I was told, my car was going to be stolen and I would have to pay for the whole thing. Also, what all the fines were for not having a transponder on my rental car. I told him I was not going on toll roads but he continued to tell me the error of my ways. Finally I was given a piece of paper with the number 3 on it, no other instructions and was told I was done. I went to the lot where the 2 people in front of me were looking for a clean decent car to take. My return was uneventful, except I was dropped off at the shuttle stop as far away from the terminal as possible. I actually had a trip in December also booked with Fox but I canceled the reservation and booked with Alamo.

We recently had an incident where we scraped the left bumper of our car into a parked car. We had taken 3rd party insurance with Fox, but declined their car damage waiver because Visa was insuring our car. The claim posted by them to Visa was of $2400. While such a high amount for such a minor scratch was insane in itself, we were glad we didn't have to pay anything. We filled out the paperwork and after 6 weeks got a letter from Fox saying that Visa was only willing to pay $2150 and we'd have to pay around $250. Not only that, they asked us to pay up in 10 days or they would get us to pay the full $2400.
When we called up Visa, we came to know that Fox had already negotiated a price with them. They were trying to strong arm us into recovering more money without Visa's knowledge. When we tried calling Fox recovery agent, Judi **, she would not would pick up. The voice mails said that they don't check their voice mail, and to call another agent. Of course that agent never picks up either.

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. My experience for reservation was fine. Getting the car, the person was not very friendly but ok. Returning the car... could not find the place in the dark and no one to ask. They say on the statement that they are open 24 hrs a day but a message comes on and no one returns message after 2 hours of looking for place. The manager, Jaylin, was mean and rude. Benjamin nastily said I owed $500 for the keys... they were in the key place on the trunk. When I went outside for a minute to get my other bag, my suitcase that was sitting on the chair and its contents were all over the lobby. They said it fell... it was thrown off that chair.
Then Benjamin says that he is going to call the police on me if I do not leave. I am putting all the contents of my suitcase back in then I told an older woman employee that someone left barbells... "they are mine and you better not touch them." I have called three times in the past three weeks for a manager and no one gets back to me. THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I EVER EXPERIENCED. RENT ENTERPRISE GREAT SERVICE.

We rented a car at the Fox in Los Angeles after a 5 hour plane ride across country. Never, ever again. Wish I had read the reviews first. Long and confusing lines, with no one attempting to direct the barrage of people in lines. After waiting in line for more than an hour, went to the selection of cars. The first car we looked at smelled of cigarette smoke and had burns on the seat. We looked at a few more, and they were all dirty, so we chose the "cleanest" of the dirty cars. The also took out a security deposit. I'll wait and see if it's returned, since I'm reading that this was an issue for some consumers.

You get what you pay for. When you read the reviews, you can see that they don't even deserve a star. The check in line is about 1 hour. When a customer leaves, he is usually angry. I booked a car, and 10 minutes late I realized it was the wrong date. I tried to cancel it, and they refused to. They say: the policy is the policy.

The trip began with a one hour wait (fortunately I was not in a hurry to make an appointment, but also hadn't factored that in). Then they took a $150 deposit on top of my payment. They assured me that deposit would be returned within 48 hours. I still haven't received it back, so I went to live chat and that rep told me 14 days due to the bank's processing (which is such a bunch of **).
And now see in these reviews they may remove some of that to "deposit" for the half tank of gas even though I was told I did not need to fill the tank before returning. I specifically asked him to state that again because that is unusual, but he didn't say it would be taken from my deposit or at what pirated rate. Horrible, horrible customer service and poor communication with customers. I will never rent with them again. And if I don't get my full $150 back and they take half of it for a half tank of gas I am going to find a way to file against them. That would be literally stealing from a customer.

This was my third and last time renting from Fox. I agree with all the others... over an hour to get the car. Totally disorganized... The guy saying "would you like a Toyota Camry" and all they had were KIA's! Here's the best part... I received not one but two fast lane violations. I paid the $30 administrative fee so as not to jeopardize my driving record... Lo and behold when I called the State of California office of toll violations... I was NOT even on the road in question. The best part is I was sitting having lunch during the second violation! Interestingly... I have a picture of the resort I was at with the car and its plate clearly visible! Not the plate that was on my rental agreement!!! What the hell! In all the years of renting cars... I never thought that could even happen! SO NOW BEGINS THE CHALLENGE OF WHOSE FAULT IS IT! Needless to say... I would not recommend this car company.

We rented a car from Fox in Maui. We waited at least 40 minutes to get our rental from an offside location from the airport. We finally received a car, an old, dirty, Hyundai Elantra. We did not complain and took off on our way to the hotel. Within 10" we realized the A/C was inop. We returned the car to get a Chevy Cruze and off we went again to the hotel. The attendant said the temperature gauge was on full hot and said he would not risk driving the car.
We called Fox, but no answer. We called again the next morning and they agreed to replace the car. They then tried to charge us for the tow charge on top of the rental fee and no credit for the day we lost driving. I have now called three time from California to get this resolved and am still waiting to talk to someone??? The worst experience I have had on a Maui rental in about 15 years. I forgot to mention the turn in time. This was another 30" to get the account in the computer and then I got the wrong receipt.

Rented a car in Tampa, Florida. The place was very unorganized. When I received my keys and went through the whole process of inspecting the car I proceeded to open the door. There was this terrible odor coming from the car. Not only did it smell but there were stains all over the seats. I was not paying for one week for that car. I proceeded to get someone and all he had to do was open the door and agree. He took me up front and had me wait. He did bring up another car and I went through the whole inspection again only to get handed a contract that was $400.00 more than my original. When I said something he brought me inside where the girl behind the counter argued with me for 10 minutes that I was wrong. I finally saw my old contract on the desk and pointed it and all she could say was "OH". I had a 2 hour drive after a 9 hour flight and being up since 3 am I was not in the mood for games.
I proceeded to get into a dirty car, stains all over the seats and I can't tell you the last time the windows were cleaned to drive away. The car was terrible. When you stopped and started to move the car would buck for about 5 times and then get a constant speed. When I returned the car I told them about that car and it needed service, he said he we would make a note. The guy who helped me out when I first got the car showed up and I told him about the car and he told me that all the cars did that. Sigh. The worst experience with a car rental place. Never again with this company.

My partner and I rented a car in LA on Friday 9/9 to Sunday 9/11 and it began just as a poor experience with not getting the vehicle we requested, then a poor running vehicle and the aggravation if of the USB charger not working. Little did we know this was just the beginning of our problems. The weekend began to come to an end. Just hours prior to returning the vehicle I found the end remains of a ** joint in the backseat under the buckle next to my 9-month old grandson. I had picked it up not realizing at the time what it was.
Furious, we returned the car completely panicked that I had handled it and had to attempt to board a plane on 9/11!! I to tell the attendant of the issue and requested that he noted the problem and he suggested that we speak to a manager about it. Upon speaking to him he found the situation comical, of which I did not! He left and finally returned way too long later and said he issued a refund of 52.40 for the inconvenience. With the lack of time we left to wait for the shuttle, still panicked of what may happen in the airport. 45 minutes later we finally board the shuttle.
When we get seated I sit down, I begin to look at the paperwork and find that the refund was issued to another customer from several weeks earlier, not our account! When we finally arrive at the airport we are told we have missed the deadline to board the plane and will have to wait until the next day to return home! Now we have to figure out where to stay and how to get there. We happened to find a hotel within walking distance from the rental car company.
I proceeded to walk over to once again discuss the issues after already spending over 1 1/2 hours previously. The first person I spoke to failed to see the problem and didn't believe what I was saying and told me that I just received the wrong receipt, and told her no the wrong person was credited and made me wait an additional 20 minutes. Upon her return she said she issued us a $16.00 refund. I was not happy at all and went back inside and spoke to someone else who made a joke about it and said "well where is mine???" Not something I found funny at all!! I finally got to speak to the same manager who found it funny that we were back and said there was nothing more that he could do!!

I originally rented a 2015 Toyota Camry from Fox Rent a Car. This is the vehicle I was given, and not by choice. The customer service representative just handed me the keys after signing the contract document, and pointed at the 2015 white camry. Please do take note of this, the weather conditions were brutal from the time I rented the vehicle, until the time I brought it back. It took me a while to return it to Fox Rent a Car's Austin, TX location because of the poor tire tread, and low tire pressure, in which they failed to inspect, and check prior to handing me the keys to drive off with it. This is unacceptable, and could have very well cost me my life, and, or a total loss on their vehicle. Multiple times I almost slide off the road, or collided into another vehicle on the count of the tire tread and pressure on the 2015 white Toyota Camry.
The date I rented the 2015 Toyota Camry was on 08/09/2016, and the return/exchange date was on 08/17/2016. As I stated previously, it took me a while to get the vehicle back to Fox Rent a Car due to the harsh weather conditions. I informed Fox Rent a Car of this, and several employees came out to check the vehicle I had just brought back, and they verified that it indeed did have tire tread issues. A couple of days later the Operations Manager emailed me, and stated that they took the vehicle to Firestone to have it inspected, and Firestone stated that the tire tread was at the required safety level. No documentation was provided, only what was typed in the email communication I received from the Operations Manager.
As a complimentary service provided by Fox Rent a Car, they handed me a Chrysler 300 to drive, and they stated they would only charge me $10.00 per day EVEN if it goes past the return date, which almost all of their staff lied to me about, and that there would be no other charges. I was not handed, or sent an updated contract summary, which I requested multiple times, and on top of all this, they did not even inform me on how to pay the toll road fees. Fox's service desk reps stated I would receive a billing statement in the mail from TxTag. I still have not received a billing statement as Fox's representatives told me, but instead discovered under Fox's F.A.Q. section of their website that I would need to pay through a separate website link. How in the world could anyone figure out how to pay a bill when they are misinformed, and not even told about the website link Fox has on their site to pay the balances?
That's just the beginning of this complaint. This next section has to do with the rental vehicle I am currently driving now, which is the Chrysler 300. The Chrysler 300 was given to me a complimentary service due to the defects on the 2015 white Toyota Camry. I did not ask for the Chrysler 300, but simply credits for the billing, and I was denied that, so I assumed Fox Rent a Car wanted to keep me as a customer, or whatever their intentions were. The staff members at the customer service desk said the rates would remain the same, the late fees, and any other fees besides the $10.00 per day would be waived. I soon received an email from Fox's Corporate Office about a vehicle I was not even driving, and they were demanding it to be returned.
I replied back to the email and informed the representative from Fox Rent a Car that I would like to receive an email regarding the Chrysler 300, the total amount due, and why the fees would not be waived when that's what I was told verbally over the phone, and in person at the service desk. The Corporate Office rep did not reply with any additional details other than, she would forward our email conversation to the head manager at Fox Rent a Car's Austin, TX location.
After a couple of days of waiting for a response, I emailed the head manager personally to submit an inquiry regarding the billing, and the life threatening position I was placed in from the first vehicle I rented, and still to this very day he has failed to respond. I attempted to contact the Corporate Office rep who initially contacted me, but she has also failed to respond back as well too. Even Fox Rent a Car's Billing, and Customer Service department have all failed to reply back. It's been over a week now, and I could only imagine that fees, fines, and penalties are accumulating by the hour. This is entirely out of my hands because I have done all that I can to seek the rightfully deserved credits, or extended rental request for the Chrysler 300 I am renting from Fox.
I provided Fox Rent a Car with my State Farm Auto Insurance ID Card, Declaration of Coverage, and the contact information for my rental reimbursement claims handler. The Operations Manager stated she has been attempting to contact the claims handler for my rental reimbursements so that I could pay Fox Rent a Car the total amount I owe them, plus the total amount to extend the rental vehicle.
My claims handler is currently trying to resolve all of this misinterpreted billing, and crediting information, but Fox is simply difficult to deal with, even for a State Farm claims handler that deals with vehicle rental companies all the time. On top of that, I even offered to make a payment over the phone, and they did not acknowledge the offer, so how am I supposed to pay them when they fail to acknowledge my inquires, emails, and phone calls. At this time I do not have the available funds, but this is mainly due to Fox's failure to provide me with an updated billing invoice, and billing summary on my current contract with them.
The summary of this matter, is that Fox Rent a Car almost cost me my life with the vehicle I was first given, they misinterpreted their billing information, how they process the billing, they would not explain the reasons as to why they would not honor the late fee, and extended fee waivers they said I was given, and that would remain in effect until I returned the rental vehicle. Nevertheless, the contract agreement on the Chrysler 300 was not even signed.
I am simply frustrated with this company, but at the same time, I am not going to give up and let this one go. I will continue to complain until the outcome of these issues results to being in my favor, since I have stated everything to the full truth, and have supporting documentation on top of that too. There are much more issues to list, but that's a good summary for the time being until I am requested to provide additional details. The contract number is: **.

The worst car renting experience ever! Very long long, no cars, poor service. Car we got was total junk. Said 40,000 miles road like it had 140,000 on it, just junk. They upcharged us for the car, but they only had 2 cars to rent and 100 people in line. They were waiting for cars to come in to rent. Just a total joke of a business. Will gladly pay more to get good service and a decent vehicle. Never rent from Fox even if they give it to you!

Warning! Stay clear of this company. BAIT & SWITCH! I rented a "Jeep Cherokee or equivalent" online, which my confirmation clearly confirmed. When I picked up the car at the airport, they said that I had not reserved that classification, but instead had reserved a lesser classification (Toyota Rav 4), which is much smaller. I was driving a long distance and needed a larger vehicle for safety and comfort. When pressed he admitted they had a Ford Explorer available now and would have a Cherokee available in a few hours but would have to charge me more for either. I argued that the Ford should be available to me at no extra cost since it is "similar" to the Cherokee. He refused, saying he would have to charge me more.
After arguing for 1/2 hour, I had no choice but to take the Rav 4 in order to make my meetings on time. Later I called customer service and was told I did not reserve a Jeep Cherokee, but had reserved a smaller SUV, such as the Rav 4. When I told him that my receipt clearly stated a Cherokee or similar, he said this was an issue between me and the online service. I had him switch me then to his boss who changed the story and said that the Rav 4 is "similar" to Cherokee, so I received the correct vehicle. Are you kidding me! Stay away from this company!

Just finished renting a full size SUV from the LAX location. First, the customer service was the absolute WORST I have ever experienced! After waiting for over an hour and a half in a ridiculously long lineup, the person at the counter was also extremely rude. Also, when I booked the rental, I had specifically asked if they had factory installed GPS or portable GPS because I already have a portable one and I find them difficult to hear. They assured me that the GPS would be factory installed. The guy at the counter hands me a bag with a portable GPS and no instructions. He then tells me in a very rude tone that they don't have vehicles with factory GPS. After picking up the vehicle no one even did a walk through to check for dents etc. Very bad service overall and I would never recommend this place to anyone. They are cheaper but honestly the aggravation is not worth it.

By far the worst experience with a rental car service. Arrive at midnight in Seattle and had already prepaid for the car. There was 4 people in line... It took an hour to get to the front. So I'm already upset. Finally get up to the counter and they ask me to put $150 down in deposit. I already paid $590, why a deposit too? Answer: just so they know the car is returned. Fine. Girl doesn't explain any of the tiny screen information that I am forced to sign. Never mentions that I need to fill up the car with gas before I return it. Just asks if I want to prepay for gas or pay for my own gas as I drive. Get to the car and the key is in the car with no one around. Usually for a rental service, there is a person out there asking you to fill out a form of any scratches and damage on the car prior to leaving. Not here.
After a week with the car (which was a nice car, I'll give them that), I return it and they tell me I don't get my full deposit back due to having a half tank of gas (so they charge $50 because that's totally the price for half tank) and there are so many taxes in Seattle that I only got $80 of $150. Customer service shouldn't have told us that we would get all $150 for just returning the car. Even if we filled it with gas, the taxes still were deducted from the deposit. There's no way you will get a full deposit back. Never again. Never again.

Renting a car from Fox felt like a scam. I had booked the car online, including an insurance. When I picked up the car, I was required to sign for a number of things on a small digital screen, that did not make it possible to see what I was signing for exactly, but the explanations were all very reasonable. The contract that was printed afterwards was very unclear with lots of small charges without clear specifications. The person at the desk told me that the company did not charge anything extra, they only blocked 150 dollar on my credit card as a form of deposit.
When I returned the car, the receipt I received was over triple of the amount that I booked the car for. It turned out that I was charged for gas, even though that was not the agreement, and that I had signed for an extra insurance. The manager tried to intimidate me, asking me why I didn't think about the charges when I paid for it with my credit card, and why I signed for it in the first place. When I told him that I had not authorised to pay for anything and that it is obviously a mistake, since I already took an online insurance, he completely changed and removed all of the charges.
However, when I left the building, I overheard another customer complaining about the exact same problem. When I joined the conversation, the staff claimed that there is absolutely no way that charges can be removed after return of the rental car. It left me dazzled about what happened. I get the feeling that the company is purposely not working according to the law, nor with any moral responsibility.

We reserved a car via Internet through RentalCar.com (Priceline.com) and the TOTAL amount was reflected on the screen. When we picked up the car, we were told that Arizona is one of the states that requires a $20 a day Loss Of Use amount to be added. We reserved at Phoenix Sky Harbor - obviously in the State of Arizona. Why was the required $20 a day not included in the TOTAL amount at time of reservation?
I will NEVER use or recommend RentalCar.com or Fox Rent-a-Car again - no matter what state we need a rental car. It is obviously a quasi bait-and-switch at the counter. It would be very easy to write an algorithm to include this "required" amount when reserving a car in the states that require it. I called my insurance company after the fact, and they do not cover the "Loss of Use" requirement as they do other insurance options. So the counter people have you by the neck at the counter. At the very least, when I make a future reservation with any rental car agency, I will follow up with a phone call and inquire of any fees/charges that will be added at the counter that is not reflected in the TOTAL amount upon reservation. At that point, I can decide to cancel the reservation - not be held up at the counter. Rentalcar.com and Fox Rent-a-Car not good.

So we tried to cancel the deal that we just booked earlier the day. The guy told us he has no idea if we get the refund. He explained to us we should call carrentals.com. First of all there is not even a number that you can call.
The guy who is working for Fox Rent A Car did not care at all about our situation. He did not even tried to call the company. He had no idea what he was doing!! After two hours he was still pretending to know nothing about the situation which was going on. 30 minutes later he finally spoke to his boss. I recently rented a car through Fox in Las Vegas. I landed in Las Vegas near 11:00 pm and had to take two shuttles to the rental office. I waited in line for over an hour with only one person in front of me. When I got to the counter to get the vehicle I had already paid for, I encountered a number of hidden fees. At that point, since I really needed a car, I decided to go ahead with the rental. I had paid for an SUV and was expecting a newer, reliable vehicle to get me through a week of driving in the Sierras.
After the employee at the counter spent about a half hour with me, I was told to pick from two vehicles in the parking lot, one of which had a broken window. I settled for the other one, an older model Jeep Patriot. It was an uncomfortable car without any modern conveniences. Having rented cars from several other companies, I can say I will never go with Fox again. It was inconvenient, uncomfortable, not at all customer-focused, and I felt that the car was unreliable. The only positive part was the quick drop-off.

I had to wait forever for the shuttle at the Denver Airport and the bus was way too small. Once I got to the rental office I had to wait for another hour in line. The rental agent said my car would not be ready for about 30 minutes and she could upgrade me if I like. I said "I just want a car to get out of here," so I took the upgrade. Normally I would of argued but just wanted to get out of there. She rented me the car and said I would have to wait in line to have the car inspected before I left. I said "the hell with that" and left without the inspection.
When I returned the car they had one person checking cars in and there was a huge line. I decided to take my rental agreement inside and told them my car was outside and was not going to wait 30 minutes and got on the crowded shuttle bus that is way too small. Everyone in the bus could not believe this company could stay in business. Folks stay away from this company. I would pay $200 dollars more per day to rent from another company.

It took almost 90 minutes to get through the line at the Denver airport location and then the clerk held my keys while she interviewed me about a personal problem once she realized what I did for a living. I was told that I could get a toll pass but given no information so instead got a $68 charge because there is a fine for every toll, not for one as implied. So I spent over $200 for a one-day rental.

I rented a car from Fox Rent A Car at LAX (Los Angeles) and I am writing this review to help others steer clear from this company. They don't have enough bus service running to and from the airport to the rental car location, so you end up waiting 30-40 minutes either at the airport when you arrive or at their facility after you have returned your car and are trying to catch your flight. Additionally, I was billed for an RSA fee (roadside assistance) at 4.99/Day that I did not ask for and verbally refused. The agent must have slipped it into the digital contract, which is difficult to read on their small, scratched-up screens that you are told to initial. Car was dirty inside to boot. Really bad business behaviour on the part of this company. Consumers beware.

The cost was not that much lower than other car rental companies. The car company does not pick you up at the airport. You wait for a bus (25 mins) to take you to a parking lot where a van (totally full) picks you up. When I saw my car, I asked for another. They said this was the only car they had. The car I received was out of alignment, dirty, no windshield wiper fluid, no power mirrors, no remote key entry and the only key slot was on the driver's side and trunk, no power windows, missing hubcap. Because I was a grandmother taking care of two toddlers, I called the car company and asked for another car. Their customer service was horrendous. The woman just kept repeating that they gave me a "working" vehicle and would not even attempt to help me with this issue. She told me to drive to LAX (1 hour away) and see if they had anything. She wasn't willing to check this for me.
I asked to speak to someone else and was told there was no one else. I wrote a letter to the company and was basically told you get what you pay for - that I had asked for an economy car. BEWARE: They add $200 to the original cost and charge it immediately. You then have to wait for a refund after you return the car. Make sure you record every mark and ding on the car as they looked closely and wanted to charge me. I am VERY concerned about the reviews on their website. There is no place to write a review and I asked the company how to write a review and they did not answer. All the reviews are excellent and yet on other consumer websites the reviews are awful with the same complaints I have. I urge you not to use this company to save a few dollars.

Terrible rental experience with Fox Rental in LA. My car was booked with Expedia.com. I was not told about the $150.00 deposit that was required for renting a vehicle from Fox. This was the first issue. Picking up the car took over 3 hours from the time we picked up our luggage until we drove out of the rental office parking lot. Slow pick up at baggage claim. Extremely long line, with only three employees at the counter. No cars available.
Always read every screen when renting from Fox. I declined verbally the insurance. After waiting over two and a half hours for the car I did not read the agreement. I was charged for the insurance. My fault I did not read the contract. The worst part of the rental experience was not the 3 hour wait to pick up the car. Or being charged for the insurance. It was the drop off. I was charged for both early drop off and late return. They also withheld part of my deposit for the early drop off/ late return. I dropped off at 10:06. My contract called for 10:30.
Final issue is length of time on the phone trying to have some of my charges returned. It took over an hour and I had to speak to multiple people. Like most people I did not look at my final bill until a couple days later. At no time did Fox call and say we mischarged you. If I would not have looked at my credit card bill online I would not have known about the overcharge. Very unethical. How many more people are being taken advantage of?

I rented a van from here and 3 weeks later I received a letter stating I damaged the vehicle owing over $400. To begin with the van was not the greatest shape in the first place, the door handle was hanging off when I first entered the van. I told the representative about it and also checked all around the van, we had many damages that were marked from before leaving the lot. I know for a fact I never caused even a single small scratch on this van and I am being wrongfully accused. I feel taken advantage of and I am extremely upset.
I will not let this company take advantage of me as this will be in small claims 100%. I want everyone that may ever think of renting a car from here, to stay away. These people are scammers, dishonest and possible criminals. Fox rent a car LAX is the biggest joke that exists, I never would think something like this would ever happen to me. I will never rent with Fox Rent A Car ever again. The service was horrendous, the car was unsafe, and there were many deceptive fees. At Denver International, I waited 30 minutes to be picked up from the terminal. When I got remote office there was a line of 15 or so people waiting so consequently I waited about two hours to get my car. Then, outside in the parking lot, I then waited another 15 minutes until they brought the car out. When I left, there was a line of 25 people. At no time did I get an apology. This must be business as usual.
The car, though a 2015 Volkswagen Jetta, was dangerous to drive. The brakes did not respond until they were depressed almost half way then they were hypersensitive and jerked. The car had no torque and I had to floor the accelerator. That's not an exaggeration. I've never floored a car before and I usually drive a 2001 Honda Civic. Highway onramps were a challenge. I told the attendant when I returned the car, but it looked like it was going to be ignored and the car was going right back out.
Additionally, there were so many hidden fees. I expected the $30 gas fee to return the tank less than full, and took that option for convenience although it should cost half that with that car size. They charge an additional rental fee by the hour. The most obscene though was a $15 per incident fee on toll fees. It costed me an additional $75 on a $18 worth of toll fees as the airport is near a toll road so inevitably GPS will route you that way. Horrible, just terrible, so bad.

I rented a vehicle for my Disney (FL) trip and the price was decent, to prepay for 7 days was $163 for a economy car. The issue I had was I picked my vehicle up at the Tampa airport and did not realize I was flying back through the Orlando airport. When I realized my error in my original reservation I was told that if I made the change the drop off fee would be $160 as of that date, but if I waited until my drop off date the price might be cheaper which it was $75. Most car rentals will let you drop off at any of their locations especially those at airports. So overall the car was fine and the price (minus the drop off fee was OK) was fine, their deposit was only $150. Their policies need to change though.

Worst online customer experience I've ever had with a car rental company. This is the first and last time I patronize Fox. To be clear, the girl who checked me in and the guy at the checkout were professional and expedient. However, I noticed I was double charged three days after booking the car so I called customer support to inform them and the guy who answered was arrogant and condescending. He assured me that their database did not reflect a double charge and I could confirm it after receiving my initial email with my login information to their website. The initial booking was on July 11, 2016 and to this day I have not received said email. The only email I received was a password reset notification after I proactively made the request on their site. After logging in I still could not verify the double charge.
I made multiple calls to customer support and I even emailed a copy of my credit card statement to the representative, Christina **. She never returned my email or calls. During one of my calls to customer support I expressed my disappointment with how much time I was wasting and I requested to speak with a manager. The representative instead forwarded me to Ms. **'s phone but it went straight to voicemail. I called back and explained that I had left Ms. ** a voicemail and again requested to speak with a manager. The representative assured me that she would not leave the phone until Christina ** was on the phone. That's how I learned her first name. Ms. ** was very friendly and assured me, again, that she would get back to me within a day or two as soon as she heard back from another department. I still have not heard back from her or anyone at Fox.
As a last resort I emailed billing@foxrentacar.com explaining my problem and they have not returned my email. I was left with having the credit card company canceling the payment. We called corporate after speaking to several people and they were able to track the car down and listened to the call that we called the day it was returned. Aaron which is at corporate said he will reverse all the charges and close out my credit card so that there are no additional charges. They did credit my card but not the complete amount. I used Fox Rental at San Francisco Airport because it was the lower cost alternative. Never again. After initially booking for 8 pm, I found my flight actually arrived at midnight, and then read online that it was a terrible company and would charge you fees if you picked the car up late, so I called the local SF number and informed them that I would be there at midnight. After traveling all day and getting there at midnight, not only had they given my chosen car away because they didn't get the message that I would be later, they also insisted on a $150 "deposit" fee, FROM THE SAME CREDIT CARD that the original reservation had been made on.
I was traveling, I didn't have the same card on me, the fine print stated no such policy, the car was ALREADY PAID FOR, but they weren't going to give me the car because I didn't have the same credit card, until I begged them in tears, and even then they only let it slide because the manager wanted to go home. The attitude was VERY OBNOXIOUS. Miami has a toll highway from the airport to downtown. It has automatic tolls with no opportunity to pay with cash or CC. A tourist, if following the signs from the airport, is pretty much directed onto this highway to go to Miami. Unfortunately, once you are on the 5 - 6 mile Dolphin expressway you are committed to the tolls but have no way to pay. There are several toll charges along this short road. The tolls are understandable and not terribly expensive. Roads do have to be paid for one way or another. One year ago, I rented an Avis car and drove to Miami and passed through the toll stations. Later, I received a bill in the mail for the cost of the accumulated tolls plus a total service charge of $2 - 5.00. There was even an explanation that visitors do not understand about this tollway. I thought this quite reasonable.
Now comes GREEDY Fox. I picked up a car at 01:30 (AM, it took 1 1/2 hours to get to Fox rental office) and did all the common paperwork. I drove to Miami on the toll road and later received a bill from Fox for the tolls. In this case Fox charged for the tolls (reasonable) but also charged $15.00 for each passage through a toll station. In my case, I believe that it was $60.00 "service" fees - all computer generated. I reviewed the Fox contract and sure enough, in VERY SMALL PRINT was a clause stating that a maximum of six $15.00 service fees may be added to any auto rental. Fox practices a "gotcha" policy and truly disreputable behavior.

I have received a notice from the rental car company stating that I owe them $40 for a parking ticket that I have already paid the city in which I was in when I got that parking ticket and Fox rental car is stating that if I don't pay them for this parking ticket that they will be sending it to collections but yet I cannot talk to a live person on the phone to tell them that I have already handled this through the courthouse in the city in which I received the ticket.
I have very good service in the actual Center that I rented the car and the people working behind the counter. The car was satisfactory but whoever is handling this paperwork for the company needs to get it together or the company I should say needs to get their act together and have someone on staff to answer questions when the paperwork is not right. Seems like to me that by them not answering the phone they are trying to bully you into paying some false charges so that your credit is not on the line and sent to collections because you cannot get in touch with the person to straighten this out most people would probably just pay it and be done with it.

PLEASE READ ALL TERMS AND CONDITIONS BEFORE YOU RENT A CAR WITH THIS COMPANY!! This review is about the company itself and not necessarily this specific location. I rented a van for a road trip. When I was there they didn't ask me any questions at all. The guy made me initial a few statements about my responsibility to pay for the rental. Gave me a "receipt" and that was it. Little I knew that they have "geographical restrictions" and I could only drive the van in Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina.
Well, my trip was to Arizona. Just my luck! We noticed this when we were in Arizona. The "receipt" says it very tiny on top, but the employee didn't care to make sure that I understood that part, knowing that I was renting the van for 13 days. On top of that, he insisted that my car insurance would not covered the van because it was a "commercial van". I trusted him, so I paid for their insurance. Well, it does. So I literally gave my money as a "gift".
Calling customer service is mission impossible. The few times that I was able to contact them, they were extremely rude. I was never able to contact this location specifically. Never pick up phones. All in all, it was a big disaster. The van broke down in Arizona and my car insurance was never able to contact them. They cost me money, a delay of two days, and tons of headaches. I am writing this in utter dissatisfaction and agony regarding my first and most probably my last stint with Fox Rent A Car. My experience goes like this: I had booked a Ford Mustang Convertible (or the like) to be picked up today at 10 am EST but I could reach the rental car center at 11:15 am EST. The staff who dealt with us was the most ill-behaved and rude staff I have ever come across. His name was MOHAMMED (as written in the cancelled agreement). Ford Mustang Convertible was not available at that time and we had to wait for sometime. Then we were offered a Chevrolet Camaro Convertible.
I was asked to sign the contract and finalize the payment even before I could see the car. The staff said that this is the way it works for the company. He continued to be extremely rude to us. After signing the agreement and making all payments, we went to see the car at the lot and there was nobody to show us which car it was. We had to search and find out by trying the key with different cars parked there. After locating the car, we found that it had scratches on its body and was not in good shape. Not up to expectations, we asked for help to another lady staff who was walking by and got a rude response from her as well.
We finally decided to drop the plan of picking of the car from Fox Rent A Car and went to the staff who made the billing and he got even more rude and said we would have to bear charges for a day for not picking up. After speaking to supervisor, going back and forth, they decided to cancel the agreement. I had purchased a 3rd party insurance from Carrentals.com for the rental car which I have to negotiate and cancel. The supervisor said you can go ahead and place a complaint anywhere and he does not care about it.
After going through all this, finally our plans for the weekend had to be cancelled. It was birthday of my friend and all the plans got messed up badly. I called up the billing department and customer service dept. for a compensation but they said they can do nothing about it. I have decided to post this to every customer complaint forum against Fox Rent A Car and also escalate it to the higher management of the company, as far as it can reach so that everybody comes to know about this. And lastly, they did not collect the car keys from me and due to all this commotion happening I too could not remember at the top of my mind.

She said it was 3 hours away from the closest Fox location (we were in Marathon Key and Miami was the nearest Fox). The blowout was in a desolate stretch of the road and pitch black. We left the car and were taken 10 miles to our hotel. It took Fox 5 hours. I requested another car other than KIA because they don't come with spare tires.
They said they didn't have another car type unless I wanted to upgrade. The car sent was from a smoker. It had nicks and larger dings in various places... When we returned the car and attempted to discuss the issue with someone, they said to go to the website for information; they were busy waiting on customers... I thought that is what we were. Service is the only thing that separates a company when there are several choices. The few dollars on the front end are misleading. Fox is not the company for service or customer attention when there is a problem. They also mislead about their support to the customer.

This was a "worst ever" experience renting a car from this company. A shuttle NEVER CAME to LAX. Many people waited and waited. We called the company and were put on hold on 4 times. We finally gave up and took an Uber to the rental car office. (Another "experience" in L.A.) A representative said that not enough people showed up to work that night. There were dozens of shuttle buses in their lot. This company does not provide a toll pass and you do not have an option to pay cash, so be sure to pay the toll within 5 days to Orange County or the Fox company will charge you a $15.00 administration fee per toll. (It's in the small print of your contract.) It's not worth saving a few dollars to get aggravated constantly by this company. RUN to the next reputable office. You won't regret not having to deal with FOX!

I just got my bill from Fox. I was charged an additional $20 for an airport fee but my reservation stated all taxes and fees included. I was charged $104 dollars for a toll pass but the actual toll fees were $10. I was charged $50 in gas after returning the car with only 1.5 gallons used. So I got a quote for $280 including all taxes and fees and ended up paying $460. Quite a big difference. My advice ANYTHING extra they offer no matter how good it sounds or how low a price they promise just say NO.

Save yourself the headache and lack of any customer service at FOX rental car by Fort Lauderdale airport. Don't expect any of the employees to offer you a warm welcome at their shady business, but expect to be passed on from one rude employee to the next. Of course, you can always ask to speak to a manager on duty, but be warned, you will be waiting a very long time, as I'm sure they are fully aware that you have a flight to catch. Our call for the manager was needed as, when we returned the car, they found 6 pieces of hair in the back seat (we have pictures), and they said they will have to charge us a detailing fee, but the employee also goes to say, "we expect some sand in the car, but, you have hair in the back seat." So, we literally picked all six pieces of hair from the back seat, and said, "how is that." The employee was not happy with that, and mumbled something under his breath.
So that was when we asked to speak to a manager. No one ever showed up. We literally had to corner a manager to explain our situation to her. Judith it was, did not seem to care, and apparently we were wasting her time. It also says a lot for a company, when the entire bus heading back to the airport, was full of similar stories, hidden fees, and frustrations. If you try to have your issues resolved on premise, be warned, it's truly for the very patient. Expect long lines that never seem to move inside. But hey, you can probably kill some of that time meeting some nice folks inside with similar dissatisfactions.
I'm not some new guy that has never rented a car before. I happen to work in the airline industry, and rent cars on a regular basis. This however, was my first, and most definitely my last time using FOX rental car. I understand all the rules and regulations, and yet, this company has figured out a way to nickel and dime you to death. I'm not really certain how I ended up paying $20.99/day for the Loss Damage Waiver, when I specifically said to the agent, I am declining. Finally, on top of it all, it has been over a week now, and my refundable $150 deposit has yet to show up in my account. Do yourself a favor, and just stay away.

I am looking over the paperwork from my recent trip and disagree with the $630.53 charge on your paperwork. I may not have any recourse since I signed and initialed the document, but I want this situation to be known. First, please note that my reading glasses were packed away and although I should have taken the time to dig them out, I thought that I would be dealt with fairly by your company. I reserved a compact SUV through Orbitz and they showed charges totaling $276.18 as follows: Base Price: $148.20, Taxes & Fees: $82.98, Travel Protection: $45.00.
When presenting my Orbitz paperwork the counter guy said the car was not quite ready and asked how many adults would be in the car and I told him four. He said that all of our luggage wouldn't fit, but that he had another car available. I told him that I booked the SUV instead of a sedan so that the luggage would fit (four carry on bags at 2.6 cubic feet each equals just over 10 cubic feet and the smallest SUV out there boasts 26 cubic feet of cargo volume). He said not to worry, that we would like the other vehicle that he had immediately available and that it was practically new with only about 7,000 miles. I said "okay fine" and he proceeded to offer insurance that I told him I had already been charged for on my card by Orbitz.
During no time in this conversation was it mentioned that the car being offered was an upgrade from the one I ordered and any additional cost was never mentioned. In addition, I do not know what the additional charges for FMF, CFC, ERF and ADR totaling $72.04 are for. I really do not know if this experience was just because it was a busy time and the guy expected me to read and argue the charges on the paperwork, but in retrospect it feels like I was hustled because we were seniors tired from flights/walking miles and just wanted to get to the hotel to relax. I may be stuck with this, but would appreciate your response anyway.

I rented through Expedia and was unaware I would be assigned to the worst company ever - Fox Rent A Car. After two shuttles from the airport and 2 hours in a check-in line, the lot attendant said they didn't have the car I had just paid for available. RENTAL CAR STOLEN from a parking garage and Fox Rent A Car was shockingly unhelpful and unprepared. They barely took any information from me, kept trying to get me to check in the car at the gate (which wasn't possible since I had no car!). Their Claims Dept hasn't returned my or my insurance agents calls, emails, contact for almost a month, and they won't refund their overcharge of my deposit! WORST COMPANY EVER!

The guy we checked in was pushing insurance on us and also the toll charge per day. We told him we didn't want the toll charge. We would not be going through tolls. He said we would have to go through one near the airport. There was not a way to get around it. There was the sidestreets you can take but it was very hard to do. We did it no toll fees. Then the worst of it all was I used a credit card I have not used in over one year. I got a text from my bank saying that my credit card had charges for online purchases.
I suspect the Fox Rent A Car rep since I had never used that card anywhere else. I called the reservations number and they want a police report before they do anything. He also kept my husband driver's license and when we tried to call the location we could not get anyone to answer. It was 2am and they were not busy at that time. He was probably online using my credit card. I will never rent from Fox and the car I requested they didn't have and he said 9 dollars extra I can get a diff car. I made them upgrade me. I would not do a downgrade for same price.

The worst service ever. Set up this account just to leave this review. The car we rented broke down on the way to Palm Springs from LA, forcing us to get a taxi for 300 dollars. Fox's customer service claimed they couldn't find us, forcing us to leave the car. The next day they dropped a new car - a 5-seater as oppose to the 7-seater we had ordered to our house. They also offered us 80 dollars in compensation which we refused. After 4 attempts to contact the manager, each time waiting about an hour, we finally got through to - and rudest man I have ever spoke to - telling us the car wasn't broken down. When we told him we had already been offered compensation and got a replacement car, he said he didn't care and we were getting nothing now. Do not rent a car from this company!! We did because it was cheap but turns out they rip you off left and right. First, we reserved a car online weeks in advance but when we got to the rental car company at the airport they had no cars available. We sat there with 10 other people/families waiting to get cars. Finally we got one they borrowed from another company (Enterprise) after refusing to upgrade to an SUV with terrible gas mileage.
Then, during our trip a toll road (that doesn't have any toll booths: Golden Gate Bridge) charged the car so the rental company was notified. Instead of contacting us, they went ahead and paid it and added on a $15 processing fee to our account. When I called to dispute this, they said they couldn't call because they're only allowed to communicate via mail services, so we had no choice but to let them pay it for us. I am beyond fed up with this company and will never recommend them. First and only time anyone I know will rent from them.

Besides, they overcharge on all the taxes, e.g., "CA TAX LAX 9.00%", with a base of ~$500, that should be ~$50. But they charge me $90 in the bill. Fox's business and billing practices are deceptive. I rented a car in Phoenix on 4/13/2016 for six days. I specifically asked the rep (Mr. **) not to include the Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) fee of $19.99 a day because my home auto insurance covers rental damage. All I needed was the Road Side Assistance (RSA) fee of $3.99 a day. Fox billed my credit card twice; once for the rental fees ($243) plus the Loss Damage Waiver ($120) and a second time for the Road Side Assistance fee ($23) and refundable deposit ($150). The RSA sign off on the contract is clear but the LDW portion is separated from the sign off. The customer service rep explained that when you sign the RSA ($23) you are also agreeing to the LDW fee of $120. No reason was given as to why the two charges are billed separately on the same day or why the fees are physically separate on the contact signed.
Other issues/concerns/comments: I booked online but had to go thru the full rental process again at the airport. Car was clean inside but badly dinged and dented outside. I needed to return to the service desk to record the damage. Most other rental companies do a walk around with you. When I called the customer service people the attitude was "You signed, you pay". My opinion is that they get these overbilling complaints a lot and have stock answers. They did offer to refund half of the overbilled amount. The positives are that return service was good and the shuttle to the terminal was comfortable and efficient. Online Fox Rent A Car is the least expensive. But after factoring in the overbilling, I paid more for this rental than I have in the past with other companies. I gave Fox Rent A Car a try. Never again. I'll stick with Alamo going forward due to their honest pricing options.

My mom got in a car accident and rented a car for 3 days. Her car needed another day at the body shop so I called for an extension. It took me over 20 minutes to get thru and I called on multiple lines. When I finally got thru the guy was not helpful and said basically it would cost her double what she would pay for a 3 day rental because of the extension fee. I mentioned that she does not read or speak English and the front desk failed to mention it, but he was giving me hypothetical prices that were false to make their fee look better.
I was getting nowhere so I asked to speak with the manager, but he gets a supervisor that was just as stupid as he was. She also blatantly lied about her position because I asked for the manager not the supervisor. She placed me on like a 3 second pause and said she was unavailable. Then she said the manager was in a meeting and she would not know when they would be available. She offered to have the manager call me so, not only did I wait 20 minutes, I was unhappy and not satisfied that they could not assist me, it was 3:15 pm when I called, 4 pm by the time we ended the call, I waited an hour and no one called back.
We had to return the car by 5:30 pm, so you could imagine the predicament we were in. Basically they were running our time so we would be forced to pay the extra money. Talk about the customers always right or even customer satisfaction. They do not know how to do either. I will never go back. I even saw the guy who help us initially, and acted as if he didn't know anything about the fee when he did. He was supposed to look up our accoutrements to see what happen, but he left. Had an emergency that forced my wife to drive to Miami and some areas does not have personnel that you can pay to. In addition I didn't told my wife that I prepaid the gas, so when she got home late that night she filled up the tank, when I woke up next day tank was full and the rental was until that afternoon. Call them and I signed a policy of no refund on prepaid gas.
So I decided to keep the car for another day, when I turned the car back following day, guess what another $25 for returning the car late. When I got to Easirent, which are who handle Fox at this location, I was told that I need to purchase additional insurance at £7/day and that a £1,500 hold would be put on my card for the duration of my rental. The additional insurance put the cost over what I would have paid had I gone through a better rental service like Hertz.
On top of this, I asked if I could bring the car back full, but I was told that I could only do that if I rented the vehicle for two or three days. But as I had rented for 10 days I would have to take the £30 tank (or what they told me was 30 quid) and should bring it back close to empty - which everyone knows is tough to do. I rented a car in Costa Rica through airportrentals.com. I purchased an insurance policy when I booked the car. Upon arriving to the rental agency I was told that the insurance I purchased was not valid in Costa Rica and that I would be required to purchase additional insurance which was about $35/day, about triple what I paid as a daily rate for the car. I had to call my credit card company (which cost $2.50/minute from my phone, they would not allow me to use their phone), to prove that I was insured through them so I would only have to pay an additional $20 insurance instead of $35.
Just after leaving the rental agency in San Jose we were driving through a toll booth and someone slashed our tire. Apparently this is done so they can rob you while pretending to help change your tire. Thankfully a highway worked stopped to help us change the spare and we got away quickly. After contacting the rental agency we were told to wait while they bring us a new spare tire. We waited 3 hours at a gas station. When someone finally arrived they brought a tire, with no wheel, that was the wrong size. Completely useless to us! They wanted us to wait longer for them to bring us another tire but we said we had to go because it was getting dark and we needed to check into our hotel which was hours away. They said they would bring us a tire there the next day. No one contacted us, and we were forced to drive around Costa Rica for 2 weeks with no spare tire.
On top of that, when we returned the car, the agency was closed an hour earlier than they were supposed to be (online it said they close at 8), we returned the car to the agency at 7 pm and were forced to leave the car in the parking lot and managed to get the keys through a crack in the door. And then they had the nerve to charge me for the tire damage! And when I tried to contact them to get a damage report for the my insurance, which I paid a ridiculous amount for, they never contacted me! And insurance will not refund me that money without the damage report. WORST car rental experience EVER! We rented a car for a few days this week and will NEVER rent from FOX again. 1st, you must take 2 shuttles from the Las Vegas airport to get there because they aren't in the main rental car center, (not sure why). When you have luggage, that is a huge inconvenience. 2nd, slowest service ever! We had to stand in line for 55 minutes with only 12 customers in front of me and 4 people working the counter to finally get there. That averages 20 minutes per rental. I rent cars all the time and I'm never at a car rental counter more than 5 minutes, so I thought there were just dumb customers slowing the line down. Wrong!
3rd, when I got up to the counter, things started out normally enough until I refused the extra insurance. That was when I discovered the reason for the delay. The woman heatedly argued with me over and over. Every time I said I had coverage through my insurance and "No thanks", she started in again on her rehearsed, long spiel about how I had to have it because I would be liable for any damage to the car, and they would come after me for the money. With each new iteration, she became more belligerent and insistent. The fourth time around I finally said, "What part of 'No' don't you understand?" Unbelievably, this paragon of BAD customer service started in on her fifth ROUND of "Buy our insurance, or else!" browbeating speech.
At this point I said "Stop talking! Where is the general manager?" When he finally came out, I told him that I didn't appreciate the counter girl trying to force me to take insurance when I said no. He said he was very sorry and that isn't what is supposed to happen. When he stepped away, she scrawled "NO COVERAGE" across my rental form and underlined it 4 times.
4th, it just keeps getting better. When I went out to the lot, no one could tell me what was going on. Renters were standing around and asking me if I knew what they were supposed to do. The staff were simply bringing up cars, parking them haphazardly and gesturing toward them. I had paid for a full-size car and the attendant tried to give me a compact at first. I refused and he said he didn't have any more full-size cars. I then said, "OK either refund my money, or give me an upgrade." He said again he didn't have any so I said "I'll wait." He shook his head like I was an idiot and walked away.
He finally came back and said I could have one, but I'd have to wait. I asked how long and he pointed to one about to go through the car wash and walked away again. When the car finally arrived about 10 minutes later, it was dripping wet. The front of the car was still covered in bug splats which made it hard to do a proper walk around to check for damage before we left the lot. Intentional? Also, because the car wasn't wiped down after washing, when the water dried the windows and mirrors became horribly water spotted and I had to stop at a service station to clean them so I could see to drive. We later found trash (soda and water bottles) under the seats as well.
5th, When we returned the car, my wife waited inside while I got checked in. While waiting, she overheard another counter clerk tell an elderly customer, "You better take the insurance. You're not in Canada anymore. This is Las Vegas and bad things happen to cars here." All in all, it's not worth saving a few dollars when you have to put up with rudeness, badgering, disorganization, dirty cars, and all-around crappy service offered by FOX.

It was very well explained (TOLL AMOUNT: $1.00 ADMINISTRATIVE FEE: $60.00, BALANCE DUE $61.00). I was being bill by FOX the amount of $.25!! Booked Fox car rental in Puerto Vallarta on Travelocity. Was supposed to be around $11.00 and some change. When we got to Fox car rental site, they told us they had a mandatory Mexican auto insurance we had to buy in order to rent the car. Price was $177, 16 TIMES the price we were told it was going to be. Every customer I saw there faced the same fate, 'twas the ole Bait and Switch tactic. It's just not fair to change the price so significantly when you are standing there with your kids, your baggage, after taking the shuttle ride from the airport, in a foreign country. They have you and they know it. Not reputable company. Would never use again.

I recently rented from Fox Rent A Car in Las Vegas, NV and was VERY disappointed with the service and the quality of the car. The rental agent was rude and very negative. She did not want to help us as none of the other agents did. We were the only people in line and no one asked for us to come to the counter for help. We had a reservation and I had called the customer service center the day earlier to be sure there was no charge for married couples to both drive the car. I was told "no charge". The rental agent in Las Vegas insisted it was $10 a day. She argued with me for 5 minutes or more until I showed her the 1-800 number and asked her to call them. She then said she would not charge us. She was so negative and unhappy, rude, and unprofessional.
The car we were given had both bumpers falling off. We were able to push the front bumper back in place but the back one could not be pushed back. We finally stopped and bought tape for the back bumper to keep it from damaging the car when we drove at normal speeds on the highway. Never rent from Fox in Vegas. We will never rent from Fox anywhere again.

What a scam of a company. Rented car from in Miami/so Florida Dec 2015 for 15 days, 3 of which were in Miami. Was given some kind of rushed option to pay upfront $9/day for the entire 15 day use of car (that's $135!!) to get some kind of hook up pass from Fox to pay tolls in Miami). We didn't know where toll roads were or if we were even going to use toll roads and since we were only in Miami for 3 days, the economics simply did not make sense.
Lo and behold, there were no toll booths on any of the roads, so we were not even aware we were driving on a toll roads, nor where or how we should pay, yet we were charged $90+ from Dec - Feb on our credit card for admin of tolls by FOX (for using toll roads to cross into miami). We were told later by FOX that tolls are $.75!! Yet they were charging us $15 admin fee on each toll!! Fox is making A LOT OF MONEY on car renters!!! RIP OFF RIP OFF... We rented a car from the Las Vegas Fox Rental Car. We will NEVER go through Fox rentals again and suggest no one else does. We were in Vegas for the weekend and decided to fly our son in for his 21st birthday. Thought it would be a fun surprise to rent a convertible Camaro for him to drive for a day. Rented the car online 4 days before we left. No problem, yet! We waited at the Las Vegas airport for the shuttle to take us to the rental car building. Waited at least 20 minutes for the shuttle. We were taken to the rental car place were we had to take another shuttle to the actual Fox building. We got off the bus and were greeted with over an hour long wait in line. We finally got to the front and were told many people were out sick. We were ok with that and the lady at the counter was apologetic and nice. She told us we may have to wait a few minutes for the guy to pull up the car outside.
We proceed outside to a small shed. No one there. About 5 minutes later, and customers waiting, a guy comes slowly up and tells everyone all the cars need to be washed and cleaned and it was going to be at least 25 more minutes. There is a huge pile up of running cars with another guy walking around them slowly checking them in while taking his smoke break. No hurry whatsoever. My husband went back inside and ask to speak to the manager. The lady who helped us came out, talk to the two guys and proceeded to walk around the lot.
After another 20 minutes, she told us that the guys were too lazy to give people their assigned cars and had given away the two Camaros that they owned. They offered us a convertible Mustang that was buried behind the huge pile of cars that still needed to be checked in. We had reserved and paid for a Camaro and had waited there for over two hours, just to be told they didn't even have the right car. In the end we walked away with no car for our son's 21st birthday, wasted 3 hours on a Friday night and ended up having to take a taxi ($25) to get back to our original car. I repeat NEVER go through Fox Car Rentals.

Avoid this company like the plague. I reserved a car from them via Expedia for $100. When I showed up to pick up car, they said they hadn't taken payment yet and proceeded to charge me $150. There were no other cars available and no other agencies around, so they said take it or leave it. I showed them my Expedia booking for $100 and told them they should honor it. They said no.
I called Expedia. Expedia's revolving door of customer service representatives who're not really employees but stuttering English-inept call-center people in the Philippines and Thailand (no offense to these people, I know they're only trying to do their job; it's Expedia who should get a real ** customer service team), they wring their hands and say they can't do anything. So Fox sucks. They list a price and then charge you a completely different one when you have no choice. Great business model you guys.

DO NOT RENT FROM FOX RENT A CAR. I originally booked for Nissan Versa, but upon your representative Roger’s suggestion, I had upgraded to Toyota Corolla. However, he made a false assertion of facts which I justifiably relied on. He said the upgrade to Corolla would cost daily additional of $18.00, but he would provide a discount and bring down the cost to $10.00. However, upon inquiring about the actual costs of the upgrade - less than $3.00, I found out that the representative has made a misrepresentation.
I understand that the price is subject to supply and demand. Provided for that market/price fluctuation, the representative offered price for an upgrade to Corolla at $18.00 was unreasonable. If there was a surge in demand, then he would not have offered an upgrade. If that indication is carried to its consistent end, then there was a plenty of supply. We had already booked our car back in January and when we refused to upgrade, the representative then offered a discounted price at $10.00. We were under an honest impression that the price was reasonably adjusted to reflect the January booking rates, if anything. But it was a false assertion of material fact which induced a reasonable reliance.

I echo all of the comments posted about this company. I booked this rental through Southwest and thought it was from them but later found out it was this sad excuse of a place. I felt so dirty entering their building. It was nasty and unkept. How lazy are they? So lazy that instead of moving the TV to paint the wall, they just painted around it. I waited in line nearly an hour to get my car. They forced a $150 deposit upon me. When it came time to actually get my car they couldn't find it, and when they did find it they said it was filthy and it would be 30 min more to wait. This was unacceptable.
I ended up getting a free upgrade to a larger car however the guy who did the walk around with me marked next to nothing on the inspection sheet that I was pointing out. (I operate a body shop so I'm keen to all body damage.) He was just trying to rush me out the door. Heaven help me if he tries to stick me with any of the damages that were on the car already. Returning the car went OK, but I was sacked with $70 in hidden fees. I fully expect to get a toll fee even though I never went on a toll road. I plan to fight this BS when they pull it. This place is shady as **. Avoid at all costs.

Agent immediately began trying to up-sell me, including initially trying to tell me I was required to pay for insurance (untrue). Then said a credit check was required to use a debit card and that I couldn't pay cash. Ran it and said I was declined, even though my FICO is 720. Ridiculous. Plus rude attitude. My wife and I recently rented a car from the Phoenix, AZ Fox Rent A Car for the week, was the cheapest we could find and I know why now. They are very understaffed and their speed of service is very poor. When we first got there after checking in we proceeded to the lower garage level to get our vehicle. They gave us the keys and said it was "over there somewhere..." Usually the rental place brings you the vehicle so you and your family don't have to walk to find it with all your luggage. Keep in mind we had 2 children with us at the time, 1 and 4-year-old. We found the vehicle and immediately noticed damage not noted along with the inside being dirty. I told them about the damage and they checked it off, said OK.
Not even before we got out of the garage the low tire light came on, pressures reading 39, 47, 42 and 29. Clearly tire pressures were not checked before us getting the vehicle. Well we were hungry so we went to get food first rather than turn back around later to find out we had a nail in the left rear tire that was not repairable according to the Ford dealer we stopped at. I then called Fox to let them know about the concern and they transferred me to roadside assistance. They told me that, "Oh it's covered. Just take it to a nearby Goodyear so they can replace the tire..." What!? I'm on vacation!!! I don't have time to wait while this rental car gets a new tire!! Especially with 2 kids!!
They then proceed to tell me "OK, well just bring the car back and we can exchange it." So I went back and they said "OK we can exchange it. Unload your things here." I did and then I was told to WALK BACK TO THE SERVICE DESK!! Which was probably half a football field away... Awesome service... From there it took them a whole hour to get me a new car! I called them to try to resolve the issue and the customer service line would not help. I said that I always decline insurance because my personal insurance covers rentals. They told me to email them a copy of my policy.
I told them I do not need to because my copy of the invoice (carbon copy, by the way) shows that I declined the service. They said it's just a "copy" and they are not allowed to charge me unless I signed off, so he is certain I signed off on the subsequent insurance. I said it is a CARBON copy, that does not show any signature, so if what he is seeing shows a signature, then someone forged it. He said that he can request copies of the paperwork from the L.A. office, but that will cost me 50% of the refund, IF found refundable. Ridiculous. Then I come on Consumer Affairs and see all these negative reviews with same situations as mine where people were getting charged for policies they did not sign off on and will not be repaid. I paid it thinking this was outrageous but easier to pay it and never use them again. Then I receive another bill stating that my toll charges is $21.30 plus a admin fee of $90.00. Shows credit of $70.30 and a due amount of $40. That's just crazy. What happens now? I Pay the $40.00 and they send me another bill??? DO NOT USE FOX RENTAL. TOTAL RIP OFF.

I rented from FOX at Denver International Airport a mid sized 4x4 to take into the mountains skiing. (Jeep Cherokee or similar) The price I found at economybookings.com was very reasonable and I paid in advance. My experience: 1/2 hr wait for a shuttle. Bait and switch to a cuv WITHOUT 4X4! When I questioned why I wasn't getting what I paid for they said I could spend more money for a larger suv that had 4x4. While we were in Denver it snowed 14" and in the mountains it snowed every single day. They have laws requiring either 4x4, or snow tires, or chains in the mountains when it snows like this. Besides being unsafe, the fines for a violation are hefty. The FOX agent knew these laws, knew I was heading to the mountains, and knew a major storm was predicted. The car he rented to us didn't even have an ice scraper! And the check engine light was on most of the week! STAY AWAY!!!

Warning - Understand the fine print before you sign. Upon returning from a cruise we were waylaid in Tampa due to a huge snowstorm that hit the East coast in January 2016. Our original flight home on SW was scheduled for Sunday 1/24 but they cancelled and couldn't reschedule us until Wednesday 1/27. Fox was the cheapest rental we could find, so we rented until Wednesday.
After calling SW multiple times we were able to schedule a flight into PHL on Tuesday from Orlando. I returned to Fox and explained our situation. Vejay at the counter originally said "the drop off charge in Orlando could be as high as $300 plus the early termination fee". Early termination fee? Essentially they wanted to, and did, charge us a fee (daily) for an early drop off plus the original daily rate that we agreed to. After considerable dickering we settled on a total charge that doubled our original contracted price. Vejay said, "didn't your salesperson explain the early drop off fees"? "No!" We felt as if we were being held hostage by an unreasonable practice that double dipped for the agreed daily fee plus an early drop off fee.
On top of this Fox gets the car back into their inventory for re-renting. A later internet search revealed this to be a common practice at Fox. Other renters have circumvented this practice by parking the car in their customer lot and calling them on the last day of rental. If you have their roadside assistance, place keys in car, park near Fox and call roadside assistance. Best advice, however, is to rent with a more reputable company. Lesson learned. Cheaper is not always better!

The representative tried to convince me to upgrade as my 4 cylinder Toyota Camry would never make it up the mountains to Sedona. Would love to communicate that comment to Toyota. I tried to call the customer service line to speak with a supervisor, only to be told there was no supervisor to speak to. I'd give negative stars if it was an option. We were renting a vehicle in Colorado from out of state. I was not familiar with the process for non-cash toll states. Rental agent asked if we needed a toll pass, we discussed where I would need to be driving and she indicated it shouldn't be needed but didn't give any explanation of how to know if on a toll road or how to avoid toll ways or what I would be billed if I inadvertently incurred a toll. Then I get a bill in the mail several weeks later with a couple very small tolls due to explicitly leaving and returning to the Fox rental place plus $45 of Fox Rental "administration fees" with no option except to pay. Calling Fox Tolls and Fines did result in a one time reduction of 50% of the admin fees however I feel like they know exactly what they are doing and are using these fees to unfairly over charge people. You are charged $8.99 a day up to $134.85 in a 15 day period plus tolls. If you rent for over this, back to the $8.99 plus tolls again. The first negative customer service event that occurred was when I had to change my return date. I had scheduled my car return for the night of 12/25. I had to change it to the morning of 12/26 because American Airlines changed my flight. First of all, I was not able to make the change online, even though the site has a link that indicates where to go to make changes. That was a little frustrating. But, I called. The agent I spoke to told me it would cost an extra $50 or so for late charges and an extra day. That made no sense. It wasn't an extra day. I had rented the car for a week starting 12/19 at 11:00 and was returning it on 12/26 at 8:00. The agent insisted it was an extra day. And, how could there be both an extra day charge and late fees?? I decided I would deal with it at the pick-up counter, and left the reservation as it was.
Fortunately the agent at the counter was more knowledgeable and handled the transaction properly. At that point I was pleased and my confidence in your company picked up. I picked up the car on 12/19 as planned and was driving it, a Nissan Sentra, initially from San Diego to Indian Wells, CA and then on to LA a few days later. The route from San Diego to Indian Wells includes two very winding roads through the mountains, which I have never driven before. On the first, CA-79, the car died in the middle of this two lane road in the mountains. Fortunately, two very nice women stopped to help, and we pushed the car back about 100 feet onto an intersecting road, so the car was in a safe place not interfering with the flow of traffic. I told the women they could leave me, thinking I would call Fox and be rescued shortly.
Unfortunately, after they left I found out my phone did not work in that area. I flagged down a car, and another wonderful woman stopped to help. Her phone service worked, so I called your roadside assistance number. It took about 15 minutes for someone to answer, while I'm using a stranger's phone. I was told it would take 2 hours for me to get another car because the nearest Fox location was at Ontario airport. Having to wait by myself for two hours in the mountains was a little scary, but there was nothing I could do about it. That took place at about 1:00 pm. I flagged down another car so I could call my family and tell them I would be late!
By about 3:30 nobody had shown up. I had to flag down another car to call roadside assistance again. I was then told that the car was coming from LAX, 120 miles away, and the tow truck driver was in bumper-to-bumper traffic. It would be another 2 hours. The traffic had already slowed down; it was getting cold; I had no food and no more water; and in an hour or so it would be dark. And I, a 71-year-old woman, would be by myself in what had become a very desolate area. I was extremely on edge waiting for the new car to arrive, especially not having any phone service.
At around 5:30 the tow truck arrived, and I started to calm down. Then I saw that my new vehicle was a Dodge Caravan. For me that was worse than waiting almost 5 hours for it to show up. I am 5 1 and have never felt comfortable driving a regular-size sedan, much less a van. I told the tow truck driver I didn't think I could drive that vehicle. He was very rude to me. He said something like "too bad lady, that's what you got." I understand that he just drove almost 5 hours in heavy traffic and was in a bad mood, but I just spent 5 hours by myself in a cold, dark, isolated mountain area and then am confronted with one of my worst nightmares, having to drive a big vehicle! I would have felt a little better if he had said something helpful or calming, like I'll show you what to do, or it's not so hard to drive.
I reluctantly resigned myself to having to drive that vehicle since I obviously had no choice. I asked the driver to help me transfer my heavy luggage from one vehicle to the other and he said "no, it's your luggage!" I was kind of shocked. I told him I couldn't do it myself and we would have to stay where we were all night unless he helped me. He finally did. Then I got in the van, and couldn't even find the gear shift, which was on the dashboard. I had never seen that before. It had no letters. I asked him how I know what gear I'm in. He told me to stop acting like a kindergartener. At that point I shut the window and locked the door. He was making me very uncomfortable.
I spent awhile trying to adjust my mirrors (impossible in the pitch black), finding the lights, and setting my phone GPS. The tow truck driver started yelling at me that I needed to move so he could get going. He made me so uncomfortable that I left without knowing where everything was. CA-79 was a winding road, as I mentioned; but the net road, CA-74, made CA-79 look like a straight away. My brother later told me that people who drive that road all the time during daylight will not drive it at night. Here I am, never having driven the road before, uncomfortable in such a large vehicle, no side view mirrors, driving very slowly and hoping for the best. Fortunately there were not many cars on the road.
At one point my windows fogged up. I didn't know where the defroster switch was; I couldn't reach the windshield with my hand to wipe it clean and I couldn't see in front of me. I couldn't see to my right either. I was afraid to pull over. Finally I had to cross my fingers and pull over. I could have been pulling into a ditch for all I knew. But I thought that would be preferable to running into a car or an animal. After turning on the defroster, the rest of my trip was uneventful. But, when I got out of the vehicle almost two hours later my hands, neck and back really hurt from the tension.
The following morning, 12/20, I called customer service, gave them a brief accounting of what had happened and asked for a different vehicle. I was told that I would have to drive to LAX to get another car. I was actually going to be driving to LA on the 21st, which is why I wanted another car. I felt that my driving the van again for 2-1/2 hours was an accident waiting to happen! I knew once I got to LA, I could ride with others and not have to deal with the van much, except to return it. I made no headway with your agent; I asked for the manager and he said he was the manager. I doubted that. The manager would most likely not have been answering the phone. I ended up driving the van to LA and only using it when I had to once I was there.
The morning I was returning home, the 26th, I left early for the airport because I do not like to have to run. I prefer a leisurely breakfast at the airport. Unfortunately, when I dropped the van off, I was charged for fuel that I had already paid for with the first vehicle. I then had to go to the pick-up counter to get it straightened out. That took about an hour and then I had to wait 20 minutes for the van to the airport, having just missed one. That mistake caused me to have to settle for a cup of coffee on the run at the airport. The agent who fixed the fuel charge error gave me a 5% discount for my trouble. That would have been appropriate if my trouble had only been my arriving at the airport much later than I had planned.

All in all I ended paying about $40 per day! It's gone, according to Fox now. I found garbage under the seats, so I know they don't clean the cars. If they had, and they were really a legit company, they would've found it and called me. So either Fox themselves stole it or the next renter stole it. Fox is blaming the next renter of course. As they don't clean the cars before they rent it again, it could've been the next renter. The CSR said these were our only two options because you can no longer pay cash for tolls in the state of Florida...ever...anywhere. So I took option 1. On October 17, 2015, I made my reservation through vegas.com online from Fox rent a car to be picked up at Las Vegas International McCarran Airport a couple of months in advance. Customer be aware, the only reason they seem cheap is because they nickel and dime you for everything. The total price on the booking confirmation was $71.84 (charged at time of rental) includes estimated taxes & fees. First of all we have to take two different shuttles to get to the place where you pick up the car not to mention if you have to carry baggage with you. The service is the worse than taking two shuttles in the middle of snowing weather. The worst was not yet to come. On December 14, 2015 we flew to the McCarran International airport Las Vegas, Nevada.
During the checked out, the worker at the window tried to sell an insurance to us. We knew we didn't have to buy extra insurance, but it was almost Christmas my husband thought we would made the guy's day. So we bought $19.99/day insurance for four days. And it was a very cold day and late night we decided to pay for it so we can get going. There was $150.00 deposit charged which exceeded the rental price. Moreover, the guy continued to upsell the gas price. We took it. So the total price was $ 313.50. When we received the car, it was a Toyota Prius Eco car, the seat look dirty with some leftover residue like somebody have been live out in the car. We were too tired to say anything. The second day, December 16, 2015 we had a flat tire on the right front in the middle of snow.
I called Roadside Customer service, he told me that he had to charge me for changing the spare tire service. I told him never mind I will call AAA if I had to. We have actually paid for the insurance and roadside assistance the day that we picked up the car. The Roadside customer service told us it wasn't included in our service plan. December 17, 2015 when we had to return the car. There was an accident on the South Las Vegas Blvd., police department blocked intersections for over 2 miles. We drove in circles and politely asking the police officer if we can cut through the corner of 8801 Fox Rent a Car. We didn't even finished our sentences. Police told us "I cannot help you".
While my husband was driving, I was on the phone with Roadside Service approximately thirty minutes wait time for phone support. I asked the representative on the phone if we can arrange the drop off the car somewhere else. She told me that she had to talk to her manager first. After a while, she came back with the answer and directed us to drop off at the airport parking where it wont be tow away (pay for fee). We dropped the car at the airport and almost missed our flight back home. When I got home I sent another e-mail to make sure they understand that they had to pick up a return car at the terminal 1 airport at McCarran International airport on December 17, 2015.
The customer service representative agreed that she will notify the roadside service to pick up the return car. Seven days later, Fox had continued to charge my credit card for the following. In addition, did not return my $150.00 deposit. On 12/21/2015 charged amount of $ 62.88, 12/26/2015 charged amount of $ 359.79, 12/28/2015 charged amount of $ 143.91, and on 12/30/2015 charged amount of $ 143.92. They overcharge us and they use the credit card they have on records to charge us on different fees that weren't explained before. We were charged after we dropped off the car total of $ 710.50 after fifteen days renting.
This is a crime. We decided to contact our Credit card Company to let them know about unauthorized charged, then, contact an airport supervisor if Fox had picked up the rental car yet. They didn't. What an unethical service after fifteen days. I don't mind paying for a few days for the airport parking fee, but not fifteen days. I attempted to make another call this time I spent 58.33 minutes on the phone with them to make sure they will arrange for the pick-up date and time. They had told me they will call me when they have the roadside service worker at the airport parking to let me know about the charges before taking the car back to Fox Company on January 2, 2016.
There was no sign of them for the pick-up the rental car. Up until today, while the parking fee is continue to accumulate $23.00/day the price of the airport parking fee is $ 391. Furthermore, Fox branch manager and supervisor at the airport Las Vegas are continuing on non-response to my calls and my e-mails. Total costs to rent the damn car is currently at $ 710.50+ $ 391= $ 1,101 (this is not included $ 313.50 original charged).
I don't have to say about my experiences with them. You can tell. In fact, I would like to hear from the reader if they have any better ideas. Please if you're going to throw a criticism save it for your own karma. I do not need it right now. I do not have sit in front of computer and typing to post if I don't want anyone else to fall for this trap. I appreciated everybody that shared their experiences, so we can be aware of tourist trap. FYI, we are thinking of flying back to Las Vegas just to get the damn car out of the airport ourselves. The only problem is the airfare this week costs $500-$1200 round trip.

I made my reservation through rentalcars.com for my reservation to be picked up at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport. I had never heard of Fox Rental Cars before and was a bit skeptical but I decided to go with them anyway because I wanted a sports car. HUGE MISTAKE. Apparently you do not have to be professional, nor know how to speak in full sentences which was displayed by the illiterate representative behind the counter.
For all intents and purposes his name was **. He was more worried about "following company policies" than being professional and retaining a customer. He tried to upsell me on insurance, a full tank of overpriced gas, more insurance and he also tried to cheat me out of a price change in the daily rate. His excuse for everything was it's in the fine print, I am just following my companies policies. After he knew I was thoroughly upset, he smugly says, "I can hold your reservation and you can go to another company." It was 2 days before Christmas, he knew and I knew, all of the other companies were out of cars, this is why I ended up at BOOTLEG Fox in the first place.
I made a reservation for a Dodge Challenger or something similar but when I got to the counter, I couldn't get a sports car because I didn't have a major credit card. So he tells me he can "accommodate" with a full size for the same price but they will have to run my credit. EVEN ENTERPRISE DOESN'T RUN CREDIT. If you are going to run my credit, why wouldn't you just give me the sports car. I ended up with a standard car, a credit check, my driver's license copied and who knows what will happen to it and a "deposit" on my account. But it gets better as the upselling begins.
Then he tells me I "better" get coverage through fox because "you made a mistake going through a third party company". I had already paid for 6 days of full coverage online I didn't need additional insurance whether it was third party or not. After a minute insurance debate, he asks if I want to prepay for gas. At this point I felt like he was finding any and every reason to make a sale like they are commission based.
Finally we get through all of the hoops and it comes down to the paperwork. Apparently if you keep one of these bootleg cars a minute passed your reservation, your rate per day goes up almost $16 per day. If you turn your car in early, you are still charged your daily rate plus almost $16 for each last day of your reservation but "not to exceed" your reservation amount. So after I sign my life away, I go downstairs to get my car. The woman at the desk was very patient and didn't deserve my attitude but good ol' Walter messed it up for EVERYONE at Fox that I had to come in contact with. Initially they gave me a Toyota Camry. The seats were absolutely filthy and I felt like if I would have sat on one I would have needed a Tetanus shot so I asked for another car. She then gave me a gently used Kia Optima which was sufficient.
Because I am anal and I wanted to see my reservation plus the "discount" for the downgrade she let me see the screen. I honestly don't believe she even knew what the comments meant, but good ol' Walter, who couldn't even spell made it seem like I was livid for no reason. I mean this man couldn't even spell could. In his world Cud=Could. But I guess you don't have to know how to spell or be professional at Fox. All in all this was the WORST experience for a rental car. I am willing to pay the extra for Enterprise, there is nothing hidden and I get professionalism with a smile.

I left the key in the car with the engine running, and stepped outside for a couple of seconds. All four doors automatically locked. When I called them, they would charge $150 to come and unlock the car. Kauai is a small island, they didn't have to drive far.
When I returned the car, they claimed that there was some damage to the rim of a window. For that, they were going to call the cop and file a police report. They refused to take me back to the airport unless I pay them a hefty sum. I refused to be had by them and walked away from their lot with my large suitcases. They are 10 minutes away from the airport in the middle of nowhere. No taxi driving by. No cell phone coverage even. Fortunately, there were two tourists in a store behind me and they were kind enough to give me a ride to the airport.
The way they operate is this: They charge the lowest weekly rate $140 vs the second lowest $160. They make $150 if you get locked out. I am sure a good percentage of their customers get locked out. Then they hit you with minor damages and hold you hostage until you agree to a large sum of money. If you don't pay, they won't take you back to the airport and you are almost certain to miss your flight.

The car we rented was fine, other than the service soon light kept coming on. We notified the company upon return of the vehicle & they thanked us. The problem was mainly with the shuttle drivers, they were so unfriendly and rude, one in particular, his name was Odny, in Orlando, Florida. He arrived to leave people at the rental location, and was supposed to be taking us back to airport. Well after leaving people off, he just closed the door to the shuttle. I was standing there, with my luggage ready to board. I yelled out to him, he opened the door, reached for my luggage, grabbing it out of my hand, and threw it on the luggage rack. I couldn't contain my anger at that point, and we had a yelling match. He never apologized for anything, horrible customer service attitude!

I live in Austin, TX and rented from Fox in Seattle, WA. The only reason they seem cheap is because they nickel and dime you for everything. If you expect to get even basic roadside assistance in case the car breaks down, you have to pay extra. If I could give them negative stars, I would. On February 25, 2015, my family and I were visiting the Seattle area and needed to rent a car and, on the surface, Fox seemed the cheapest, so we chose them.
We drove the car down to Portland, OR that evening and spent the night. The next morning while visiting the falls at a State Park, the passengers-side window was broken into and some personal belonging were stolen. In trying to contact Customer Service around 1:30 in the afternoon, initially, no one would answer the phone and, when the automated system finally picked up, I was on hold for almost 45 minutes before actually getting to speak with someone. Then, when speaking with the man who finally did answer, I was simply trying to make sure another car would be available when we got back to Seattle, but the guy was rude and unwilling to even listen to what I was trying to ask. He said that he couldn't/wouldn't do anything for me until I had a claim number from my insurance company and, basically, hung up on me.
I then spent the next 4 hours on the phone with the sheriff's office, insurance companies, credit card companies, banks, and even the U.S. State Department trying to arrange for my wife's passport replacement. When I finally received a claim number from my auto insurance company, I again spent 45 to 50 minutes on hold trying to contact the Fox Customer Service office. Strike number 4. Number 5 happened when I got the same rude individual on the phone and he reluctantly confirmed that another car would be available when we returned to the SEA-TAC airport. The only shining moment I could find for Fox was the older manager on duty at Fox in Seattle that evening around 7:30 or 8. I really wish I could remember her name. She met us in the garage and was very helpful and kind in getting us another car. She actually seemed concerned about the hell of a day we had already been through.
Fast forward 6 1/2 months later. On September 9th, I received an email from a customer service rep saying I owed $308.90 for the damage to the window. As it turns out, I had a $500 deductible on my insurance policy that I wasn't aware of. I thought that for theft and related matters I was covered more fully. I tried contacting the rep by phone, but she would never return any of my calls. On September 15th, I was finally contacted by another rep. She suggested I contact my Visa card company and turn the claim into them. However, even on appeal, Visa has rejected the claim due to not filing within a timely manner.
The fact that it had been 6 1/2 month since the break-in and theft and the email on September 9th was the first word on the matter I had heard from anyone! The invoice from the window company shows that the glass was replaced on February 27th. Why would it take 6 1/2 months before Fox bothered to contact me? Not only did I pay for the rental with my Visa card, but I had also taken out a travel insurance policy for the trip. Both of these entities would have covered the claim if they had been notified within 45 days.
I certainly understand that I chose not to pay for the roadside assistance or the extra CDW. I thought, however, that I was covered by any number of the options available to me and would have been if I had only known in a timely manner. I believe that Fox Rent a Car bears at least some of the burden for failing to at least keep me in the loop on the claim during the preceding 6 1/2 months. That on top of the horrid and disrespectful treatment I received from Fox with the exception of the one individual, makes it a pretty hard pill to swallow.
I've since tried to contact Fox Rent a Car's upper management via email: Sean Busking - Chief Operating Officer, Mike Jabouri - Co-founder, Operations and Business Development, Mark Mirtorabi - Co-founder, Fleet Administration, and Allen Rezapour, Co-founder, Accounting and Finance. All I asked is that someone review the situation and that I felt that Fox should have been at least be partially on the hook for failing to keep me in the loop regarding the matter. None of them have bothered to respond in any form which further lowers my opinion of Fox. Now, "customer service" is threatening to turn the matter over to a collection agency if I don't pay the full $308.90. Never use FOX Rent a Car!

We rented a car for our latest trip to Barbados (November 19 for 2 weeks). Before we left I sent an email to CarRentals.com to reconfirm our quoted price because I had a feeling something was going to go wrong. We arrived in Barbados and couldn't find a rep from Fox anywhere. We asked another rep from another car rental place where we would find the rep and we were informed that someone would eventually show up. Fox does not have an office at the airport. The reps just hang around the benches outside the arrivals area. The rep from the other place actually called the Fox rep for us and someone came approx an hour later. We got our car and were very disappointed.
We did the paperwork in the parking lot and I told the rep that we were quoted in Canadian funds and the total he was putting on the paperwork in Barbados funds didn't look right. But we were tired from the flight and having to wait for him (and he really didn't seem to care) and I didn't want to get in argument so we took the car and went on our way. I also didn't know we were renting a wreck. The car was in very bad condition. Every bump we thought a tire or the bumper was going to fly off. Upon our return home our visa bill came in and sure enough the amount charged was more than the agreement. I immediately sent car rentals.com an email about this but of course have not heard back from anyone. We just want to be sure that others who use this company are aware of this. I was told to be careful with Fox as they have had negative reviews but I didn't take heed.

The car was fine, pickup and drop off was fine, however 6 weeks later when I received a notice slamming me with a $45 administrative fee for driving on an automated toll road (toll was $8) I am much less impressed. At no point renting the car was it made clear to me that I was likely to encounter toll roads that would automatically generate these fees with seemingly no option to self pay the tolls. In talking to "customer service" and the collection agency they told me that I had opted into this, but again at no time while renting the car was this made clear. Really hard to see this as anything other than a SCAM. Also, am getting the complete runaround trying to talk to the company about this.
The notice I received directed me to foxtollsandfines.com who tell me they can't help and to call Fox customer service, who tell me they can't help and to call foxtollsandfines etc etc. I was also told to file a dispute online through the foxtollsandfines website and after filling in all the information and hitting submit, whaddayaknow my dispute could not me processed at this time, try again later. If this is not resolved I will not rent from Fox again. A class action lawsuit has been filed against Fox in Washington for exactly this reason.

They don't respect Expedia prices or contracts. We made the reservation on Expedia for 66 dollars for the car rental for the full week including insurance. When we arrived at Fox Rental they confirmed we had a reservation made through Expedia for 66 dollars for the week as part of a package. The representative told us that the only options were: 29 dollars per day + a 30,000 mxn hold on the card + an open voucher + tax or 37 dollars per day + a 5,000 mxn hold on the card + an open voucher + tax or 45 dollars per day + a 1,500 mxn hold on the card + open voucher + tax. We did not plan on bringing a card that could have the 30,000 hold on it, so we would have to go with the most expensive one.
I showed my Expedia reservation and charges to the rep, and he did acknowledge he saw the reservation in his system, but his exact words were "you and I both know there is no such thing as a one dollar reservation." We had also planned this trip considering a car... So we had to pay for one of the prices above to get a car since the company Fox Rental did not acknowledge the contract with Expedia. We had to wait 40 minutes to pick up the car, even though they did charge us for the reservation. When we returned the car we had to wait another 30 minutes for the bus. When we told them we would miss our plane they did give us a ride to the airport in one of the rental cars. We've since filed a complaint with Expedia... But we are definitely never using this company again.

The customer service was abysmal. Not to mention being quoted one weekly price of 257$ and being charged 615$ at the end. The lady who wrote our contract made it seem easy and streamlined. We asked to drop the insurance and not pay for roadside assistance. We also asked if we could extend the car at the EXACT same rate and she said "yes".
Later, we called in and extended for 6 days. When we turned in the car they informed us about all types of hidden fees. All of a sudden there was a 20$ daily extension fee. Then We found out that we actually paid for the insurance and roadside assistance when she plainly and specifically told us it wasn't included in our service plan. When we asked to speak to a manager, a disgruntled, overworked and extremely unprofessional man came and told us that it was too late to change anything. To reiterate - the Fox representative who wrote our contract promised all types of cheap rates and waived fees. Then when we turned in the car, the price ballooned to an unbelievable rate. We actually had to pay an exorbitant amount.
I am a travel blogger with a nice following, and the second we rode off of the lot I started singing Fox Rental's praises. It was easy and quick. I wrote a long supportive review of the company, to publish when I left California, encouraging my followers to use their service. Good thing I never published it. Now I will let everyone know about their shady business practices, and their average 30 minute wait time for phone support. 100% disappointed with this service. Will never use again.

How can it be that a company like this in the USA permanently violates customer rights and nothing happens? My experience: We arrived in the Fort Lauderdale airport FOX (which is not in the airport and the shuttle takes about 20 minutes to arrive) and were told my brother (32 y.o.) couldn't be the second driver of my VISUALLY IMPAIRED father because he had no credit card. After 2 hours of discussing and calling argus.com they said they would let him drive but he would have to leave a deposit of 250 cash. We agreed and then the counter woman tells us about the additional insurance and while we were discussing whether to take it or not (in Spanish) the woman prints the contract with the insurance included. We say, "No we don't want it." She says she can't do anything - the contract is ready. When we return the car ask for the 250 dollars but they say they need an address in the US to send the check in few days (we were travelling to Colombia).

When I went to ask why I was overcharged, they tell me to come on Sunday (I returned a car on Friday) because a manager is going to be there in the morning. I came there on Sunday, and the manager did not returned me money.
When I called to customer service and explained my situation, I was told that it is all my fault, and no one is going to return me money. You cannot get in touch with anybody at any fox location. I have spent over 2 hours on hold with fox on 4 separate phone calls before giving up. It took over 90 minutes to pick up our rental in SFO on a non busy day. Their process is highly inefficient, with a long queue at the counter and then another wait in the garage when you think you are going to pick up the car. When we finally got the car it was dirty, beat up and covered with tape residue. The fact that you cannot get anyone on the phone is emblematic of the lack of customer service in this 'company'. The limited $ saved hasn't been worth the hours of frustration caused by Fox.

I booked a car a couple of months in advance - picked up in Miami and dropped off in Orlando 7 days later. I took a cab to the scummy location in Miami near the airport and should have ran to another rental company. It was rundown and filthy. The car was parked inside which was nice in terms of it not being too hot, but it meant that I didn't see what I was getting. I ended up with an OLD Ford Fusion with 46,000 miles on it, bald tires, squeaky brakes, no air filtering, and a burned out headlight. Did I mention how FILTHY it was on the inside? Disgusting. Unidentified slime on the inside of the windows, no evidence of any cleaning on the dash or steering wheel or console.
I had to stop at a Target and buy some wipes to clean it up. It took almost an entire container and 35 minutes before I would get back inside. They should have paid ME for doing their job and I shudder to think of how dirty those wipes were. I was on a tight timeline so I felt like I had no other choice but to take the car and deal with it later. I knew that they aren't a huge company but I didn't expect that there were so few locations - so it would have been a huge ordeal to take it back mid-trip and exchange it for something remotely worth renting.
The dropoff in Orlando was also suspect - their location is about 10 minutes away from the airport by shuttle and I honestly feared for my safety as I dropped off the car at night and hustled my way across broken pavement in an understaffed parking lot to the shuttle. It's in the middle of nowhere and it is NOT secure by any means.
I regret that my rushed itinerary made me feel like I had few other options. I should have left myself some more time to deal with this at the beginning and not have to accept a garbage car from a terrible company. I'm guessing they take old rentals from other companies who actually pride themselves on offering decent cars to people and then keep renting them out to idiots like me.
I called to complain and got mysteriously disconnected. Of course, my email has been ignored. The charges that were explained to me have been accurate on my card so far - I'm going to be monitoring them to make sure they don't hit me with charges after. Spend a LITTLE extra and rent from a real company. Learn from me and all of the others on here who didn't take that advice.

STAY AWAY from Fox rental! As I read the other reviews I realized that unethical service is common at Fox. I rented a car at Sea-tac airport and when I was done I was billed a late fee AND and early fee on the same invoice!!! I had returned my car on the exact day I was supposed to but they decided they should charge me for returning it at noon instead of 5pm. When I requested the official toll notice from the proper authority showing the picture of the vehicle at these alleged toll stops, of course they said they could not provide them. On top of that, these unethical people try to charge you $15 per fine in addition to the 70 cent toll. So when you add up all these false toll fines that they offer no proof of actually happening, the bill for me ended up being $270 for $13 of fake toll fines. Hi everybody, just sharing my horrible experience with Fox Rent A Car in Baja California in November. First of all we arrived in La Paz with our reservation for a car in the medium category. We had already paid 1300 pesos on the website and thought that was almost all we will had to pay because nothing was detailed on the website (except the young driver additional price 1600 pesos). But when we arrived in the "office" of Fox they started telling us that we will have an economic car (very small) because according to them it was the same category as medium. Thanks to a lot of discussion we finally ended to get the car we wanted (and paid for) but the women told us that she was making us a favor... Then she started to talk to us about the insurance.
At final we ended up to pay 8000 pesos more between the insurance and apparently the car as well (because according to them the thing we paid was like the commission... So when we left the office with our car we had paid almost 9000 pesos, so basically 560$ :( And then we had during the trip, we had an accident but fortunately we were obliged to pay the insurance so we didn't had to buy a new car. However we still had to pay the truck that help us join the city again (5800 pesos). In total we paid 14151 pesos for 10 days and the service. Help and everything from Fox was crap!!! I highly recommend you to find another company to rent your car!

After booking a car with Fox Rent A Car, I read many negative reviews about the company. Because the price was so reasonable, I decided to take a chance and keep the booking. We booked a rental car with Fox Car Rental online before leaving Canada. We booked the car to be picked up at San Jose Airport in California and to be dropped off at San Diego Airport 9 days later.
The Fox Rental location is right beside the San Jose airport. From the time we arrived at the rental place until we were driving away in the type of car we had requested was LESS THAN 20 MINUTES!!! The Fox Rental location in San Diego is a 5-minute drive from the San Diego airport. They provide FREE shuttle service to the airport. When we returned the car (9 days later in San Diego), by the time we got our luggage from the trunk of the car the receipt for the EXACT amount we were expecting was handed to us and we were on our way on the shuttle to the airport!
The main complaint we read about the company was the charge for going through tolls which people did not account for before renting the vehicle. We decided to opt for the "plate pass" for $11.49/day to cover any tolls we may have encountered. That way we did not need to worry about the number of tolls we went through as they would be totally covered. Just like getting a speeding ticket while driving a rental car, the renter must pay for that ticket. The same goes for tolls.
I don't understand why renters are upset when they are told they need to pay for these things. If you don't opt to take the "plate pass" coverage and you go through a toll, you will be charged $16.49/day. It's simply a matter of knowing this upfront and/or ASKING at the desk when renting. We were TOTALLY SATISFIED with FOX RENT A CAR and will not hesitate to rent from this company again the next time we're travelling in the U.S.

I told him that the minivan was parked in front of the car rental return building where the bus shuttle comes and picked the passengers to the departing terminal. He said, "That should be fine. Someone from Fox Car Rental will pick it up from there. They should be able to monitor where the minivan is." So I got onto the bus shuttle and went to catch my flight home.
On October 22, 2015, I received a letter from Fox Car Rental that I have should return the minivan back to them at the Los Angeles site where I originally rent it from on October 05, 2015. They need the minivan back. So I called their Road Service number and got a hold of a lady operator. I told her exactly what I did back on the morning of October 5, 2015. She said she'll call Sacramento Airport car rental return building and start from there.
Later that day, she emailed me that the minivan got impounded and Fox Car Rental will recover it take the minivan to the closest site, either Oakland or San Francisco. In my case here, I believe that I will be charged by Fox Car Rental for recovering the minivan for an unknown amount. I do not recommend any consumers out there to do business with Fox Car Rental because of their dishonest and unethical business practice. They should be honest and tell me that they do not have a business site available in Sacramento Airport when I approached them at the Los Angeles site. Now that I will be charged with additional costs. Let me be their last customer and their last victim only.

Waited 40 min for the shuttle to show up. Arrived to their office to about 100 people waiting in line. Service was super slow, only 3 reps working the lines. They would take an average of 15 min per customer. Something it should not take more than 5 minutes! And it was not even during a vacation break or anything.

Checked my C/C for Fox charge/$150 sec dep... Refund. Discovered 2nd charge I did not authorize for $60+. Oopsie. The agent charged incorrectly. Did not include taxes requiring pre-paid gas to become 63.00. Nadda. This is an unauthorized charge by Fox. After I argued with a supervisor... asked for manager. Refused request. Erwin is the name given but who knows... I wouldn't admit who I was either. I initialized the stated gas charge. Not informed airport fees also applied to the stated gasoline amt??? Wtf is this??? After many requests to move on up the ladder... he explained to me he would credit the disputed amount. We'll see...

I picked up my rental and headed for my destination. I was not familiar with the area and used a toll road 1 time to get to the hotel. I explained this on check in and was told they would bill me. I was not told that I would be expected to pay a convenience fee on top of the charges that outweighed the charges.

I booked a car with a third party for 2 and a half days and for whatever reason the drop off time was wrong when I received a confirmation email. I called the number on the email Fox Car Rental and told them there was an error and they gave me a new price or extra payment for altering the booking. If fact they were not quoting a new price. They were charging me more than double the price for a clerical error although they never said anything when I was disputing the extra $6 or so I thought.
When I dropped the car off they never even looked at my mileage and I should have been suspicious about that and then I saw the bill I immediately complained but was told to go to the desk downstairs. There were about 5 people in the line all complaining about something and after waiting for an hour I gave up and called them today. Of course the customer service lady Christina was not helpful. Neither did she explain anything or investigate my previous telephone conversation which demonstrates to me that this is a regular scam. Do not trust this company at all. They are completely dishonest.

On 10-18-15 I rented car from Fox Rental Cars through Priceline. Arrived in SFO from NYC at 11:06, went to first counter that directed me to another counter, finally found correct counter. The line wrapped around and the wait was completely unacceptable. With only 2 people checking customers in.. they later added a 3rd. As I was waiting I overheard the one girl at the counter tell the customer "well that's why it's so cheap." Is that an excuse for not having the proper staff? I felt duped. I would have gladly paid a higher rate had I known. Once I was there, though, I was stuck. The wait was over 2 hours with many dissatisfied customers as a result.

First of the customer rep was extremely unfriendly, then she promised it is a 7-seater, which we paid for through a third party called EconomyBookings. Rep said when we need the seats we just pull them from the trunk. Therefore I didn't check if the car really had 7 seats. Long story short: 5 of us drove to Vegas knowing that we will be 6 on the way back. To our surprise there was no 6th or 7th seat. One person had to FLY back home at a high rate. We had to pay for a 7-seater and it's been 2 months now and they said it's not their responsibility and: "this is what happens when you book through a third party". There was a lot more but that's the gist of it.

Although the counter staff at Fox Car Rental are friendly and helpful, the employees who care for the cars are either totally incompetent or poorly trained. I have rented from Fox at many locations, but the Orlando site does not maintain their cars. The policy is to pick a car from the car level reserved, so I had the opportunity to see the inside of many cars. One is worse than the other. Most are either damaged and dirty inside or on the outside. After locating the best from the selection, the car then had a broken passenger seat. But the worse was how it drove. Once on the highway the whole front end vibrated because it was so out of alignment. We returned this car only to experience the same with the next car.
Why? I asked after retiring the second car. Well, I was told the cars have high mileage with some over 54,000. But my own cars never drove like this over 50,000 I told the employee in charge of the vehicles. He then indicated they only change oil and check tires. How ridiculous is this to rent cars that are dirty, broken, and in poor mechanical condition? I happen to mention this experience at a dinner party and was surprised to hear the same from others with one story that included a total car breakdown on the highway. This couple called Fox and was told they had to pay the tow back to the rental Lincoln location because they did not take the roadside assistance.
After a $109.00 bill, the next car battery died at Universal and fortunately another visitor had jumping cables. At this point they just returned the car and scraped the remaining rental days at Fox. The car they rented at Avis was clean, smelled good and in excellent mechanical condition. What angered this couple were the hours of their vacation wasted over the Fox car rental. I felt the same way.

We have rented from Fox several times before - they seem to be the low price leader - but each time the experience got worse. This last trip, we made our reservations online, arrived at the counter with our confirmation, etc. There is a total interrogation that takes place before you are assigned a car - not particularly pleasant, even if you have all of the correct documents. We went to vehicle pickup place and the workers seemed totally disinterested in helping. After they pointed to the row where the car was parked, we hauled our bags over and stood beside a car that looked like the traditional 'beater.' It was dented and scraped all the way around, very dirty, and when the trunk wouldn't open, one of the workers came over and said -- it won't open unless you slam it shut first!
We needed to be on our way, so we drove out, but when we reached 60 mph on the freeway, the front end started to shake. It looked like one of the crashes in its life had taken out the front end as well. Since we were not going to be doing a huge amount of driving, however, we just powered on. At the end of the trip, we turned in the car and thought our ordeal with Fox was over. Unfortunately, it was not.
About a month later, we received a notice that we had not paid the toll of $7 crossing the Golden Gate Bridge. They no longer take cash, and rental car companies (including Fox) always just charged the cost of the toll on your credit card and noted it on your bill. This time, they had just changed their policy, but didn't let us know. Their new rules called for us to contact the state of California and to give them our credit card number to have the toll charged.
What Fox has done is to figure out a way to make money -- don't tell the guest, and then send a penalty demand letter to them for almost $100 to pay for a $7 toll! The phone number they left was for a collection agency, and they refused to reconsider the charge, saying it was in the gray matter on the contract (and they also get paid for collecting!). So, PLEASE do not EVER rent from Fox at SFO or anywhere you might encounter tolls. Also, make sure you check the car out and realize why Fox is not anywhere near the top of the rental car ratings!

On 09/06/15 I rented a Kia Rio at the FLL Fox Rent a Car location, to be returned two weeks later (on 09/20/15). Two days later I noticed that the car was no longer in the parking space at my brother's condominium (where I was staying), and after almost filing a police report, I finally learned that the car had been towed and taken to an impoundment lot in Hollywood FL due to an EXPIRED DECAL! Not only did I hold for over 30 minutes on the phone, but ended up paying the $144.00 fine in cash. Eventually I was able to exchange the car for one with a valid tag. According to the manager on site, this was an unusual situation.
Today (Oct. 5) I picked up a new rental at the same Fox location and guess what? EXPIRED TAG... AGAIN!! I've spent the last two hours on the phone trying to speak with a representative at Fox without success. In a nutshell: If you don't do their job for them (check the license plate for expired tags), no one will, and when your rental is finally towed (TWICE!), it's impossible to get through to a representative.

Well this company is nothing but scammers. We are from Canada and wanted to take a trip to Orlando. We booked our trip a month before we left which was a mini van. We paid 470$, then we got an email to buy insurance that it would be cheaper before we picked it up. So we did for an extra 185$. So then we get there and they say the van would not fit our family and we needed to upgrade to a suburban, which he then charged us another 1100$. Now we did go for 2 weeks but does a suburban cost 1800$ for that long? I don't think so. I will never go back to them again!

This is really a midsize car. Plus they charged my credit card for an additional $150 for some reason. Called to let them know I was unhappy and they said it was a full size car. Even the KIA sight says it is a midsize car. Have not seen a refund for the $150 yet and they would only refund half the upgrade fee.

The clerk at the front desk charged me for extra insurance on the vehicle without telling me, though he never asked me if I wanted it, I never requested it, and I didn't need it (I have more than enough insurance from my personal insurance, my credit card, and the insurance that came with the package). Anyhow, when I called customer service to get it corrected the rep and the manager I requested to speak to were not only extremely rude, but they were derogatory and unprofessional. I couldn't believe how these people talked to their customers and still had jobs! I finally called my credit card and they called them and had the charge lifted. I will NEVER use their services again and have warned my friends against them. Worst customer service experience of my life.

Our family rented a car for nine days. We were going between Colorado and New Mexico (rented the car out of Denver). A week after we returned from our trip, hit with $148.41 bill for "Administrative Fees" – in other words, charged $16.49 per day FOR ALL 9 DAYS because we declined the "PlatePass All-Inclusive Tolling option" at the time of our rental! The kicker is, the only toll we used that whole time period was on the day we returned the car, when we passed through the E470 Public Highway Authority. What a ripoff! And how misleading, since this was in no way made clear to us when we rented the car. Now I know why their rates were so low on Orbitz – they find a clever way to stick it to you. I don't like this kind of dishonesty. DON'T RENT FROM FOX!

I rented a car for 12 days at Fox Car Rental in San Francisco. A week after I returned home, I got a bill for $197.88 for an Administrative Fee. They charged me $16.49/day for 12 days! Mind you, I crossed the Golden Gate one time and the fee is only $7.25. They say that since I declined the PlatePass Toll option, this was the fee. What an outrageous and deceptive tactic this is! It's a total rip-off! I was never informed or made aware of this. They give you the usual additional insurance talk, but this new option seems to be a secret until you get the bill! It's got to be illegal! I noticed a similar review of Fox just today. I don't know if this is strictly a Fox tactic or if they all do it now. I'm not happy and will dispute this.

I rented a car in Seattle and took 13 days to drive to San Francisco. On the last day I had the car, I crossed the Golden Gate Bridge. Last time I was there, you could pay the toll. Little did I know, they switched to Automatic Plate Tolling until it was too late to avoid it. Ok, no problem. I'll get a bill from Fox with a service fee. 2 weeks later I did. The letter stated I had declined their PlatePass option. 1st of, I was never told about it, so not sure how I could have declined it, except I initialed something. They had signs about Washington State Tolls and the program. But made it sound like it only good for WA. This was the only toll on the last day for $7.25. Now they want to charge me $16.49 a day for the PlatePass for every day I had the car and are demanding I pay $214.37 for a $7.25 toll. This is not reasonable. I'd be willing to pay a reasonable amount. But, this is a blatant rip-off. Not happening.
