Pick up time for our car was 3 hours in an unairconditioned building. Our flight landed a little after six pm and we got our car at 9:07. This is a ridiculous way to run a service business, considering the the... The vehicle pick up experience was a horrific nightmare. It took 3 hours! We waited on line in a building off the airport grounds after a shuttle ride with a driver that refused to help with our luggage. We are both seniors. The rental shack was not air conditioned! Remember we were in Orlando temperatures and humidity! We were forced to drive at night because the daylight hours were long gone by the time we left FOX RENTAL ORLANDO! NEVER AGAIN. PLEASE WARN FUTURE DRIVERS!!!

They change their rules as they please. They try very hard to confuse people. They Mislead advertisements, so they can charge more for the rental. Very bad customer service. They forced to get their own insurance. BAD SERVICE. IF YOU GET TO READ THESE COMMENTS DO NOT MAKE BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY.

There were number of problems I encountered when decided to give a try and rent a car from Fox Rent A Car. In Los Angeles I was given wrong information about almost everything to do with the transaction. The employee of Fox Rent a Car was either not train properly or just a bad person. They charge very high drop charge/one-way charge if you take the car from their location and drop off at another, even though I was given totally different information from their employee. When dropping off at Las Vegas, you have to take two shuttle buses as their location is far from the airport and offers very poor lighting (my wife commented she would not feel comfortable being there by herself). When I made reservation through 3rd party, I was charged twice, by reservation company and by Fox Rent a Car. Definitely not recommend to use.

If I could give less than one star, I would. This place is AWFUL!!! If you want to ensure you have a poor Vegas experience, then look no further. Fox Rent A Car will make sure from the moment you step foot out of the "airport" you feel like you are getting bent over and taken roughly. I use quotations around airport because the company advertises they are at the airport, but two shuttles later you find yourself in the middle of nowhere with zero options except to get screwed.
My personal experience involved the representative looking up my reservation, confirming that I made it and asking if I wanted to upgrade. When I declined, he told me my reservation had been canceled (which I looked online and saw otherwise), then proceeded to blame rentalcar.com and tell me the only thing he could do is give me a more expensive rental option. Having no other choice due to time constraints, we took the higher price and got our road trip underway.
When we called to get details on extra (late) charges for the return, we were told a completely different amount than what was charged upon our actual return. Should've known better, I guess, at that point so shame on me for that one. Moral of the story: DON'T try to save a few bucks going with this inferior rental company, they WILL take your money and leave you pissed off. Instead, pay a little more up front for the reputable company and be able to enjoy your experience!

Economycarrentals.com never indicated in their terms and conditions to me that I had to keep the car I was renting from their referral car company only within certain states in the U.S.. When the day came for my 2 1/2 week trip, I had cancelled Hertz since I felt assured having called Fox that I still had the car reserved. When I came to the Fox shuttle at the Ft Myers Airport, Florida, the driver indicated that I cannot take the car out of state when I told him where I was headed. I had to forfeit the $40 I had prepaid to the economycarrentals.com, and cancel my reservation on the night before Labor Day with very few cars remaining and paid another $250 for a smaller car to continue my trip. I will never get from Fox or Economy Car Rentals again. Never will I prepay for a vehicle again either due to the bait and switch I feel that I received with the agents and associates that Fox used to book this car for them.

Arrived in Seattle to pick up my car. The car was in terrible condition. It needed to be in the body shop. Then I waited for over an hour for them to resolve to issue and get me in another car. Then upon returning the car I was charged all these fees that were not disclosed at the time of rental. They are the worst. I would not recommend them to anyone.

Just returned from Los Angeles on short business and used Fox to rent a car. I pretty much had same robbery in charges as you can read here. My prepaid $54 changes to $155 for 2 days and hope $150 deposit on top is returned to me. So credit card has been charged $305 started at $54 prepaid. You get what you pay for. They get you in the door and close the deal. Top it off when I brought back the car, I am disabled and walk barely with a cane short distances. Shuttle bus was waiting 4:30 a.m. and I have a 500-foot walk from drop off cones to bus.
I try to be friendly with driver and he grunts and points where to put luggage, smoking his cigarette. I know nothing about LAX and its remodeling stuff, but I do now. Unknown to me but terminal 1 is where I need to be and it's under construction. He should see I am handicapped and drop me off close to terminal. Oh no, I get dumped out between Terminal 1 & 2, but closer to 2. Mind you, Terminal 1 is now 2/10 mile behind me.
We go to TERMINAL 2 thinking it must be where we are going. I barely hobble to 2 to security shaking head and pointing at Terminal 1 the other way. Full of frustration and angry another human being seeing me struggle would leave a handicapped individual in this situation, I slowly, through pain and tears, struggled back 2/10 mile as all wheelchairs and any help are secured. I was told they issue tickets to drivers who stop at terminal doors but there is exceptions to drop handicapped people.

Never rent a car from Fox Rent a Car. I chased a cheap deal and made a big mistake. The deal ended up not being cheap at all. Just read reviews - all negative, all of them. It took me a good hour to spend in their office even that I made online reservation. First of all, their office is FAR from the airport (in Lihue, at least). It is a 10-minute ride. Now, they want to see your auto insurance card, which I coincidentally had with me. They call your credit card bank and insurance company to verify whether you have required coverage. It takes about half an hour. I have never seen anything like that before, even back in 20th century, where you also had to wait for a while for paperwork to be ready. Then they give you a few sheets of paper where you put dozens of initials and signatures that you decline their coverage, which is, like, 44 bucks a day (in addition to rent).
It was like closing home escrow. Then she started printing another batch of papers where I also had to put a few initials and signatures. Then we went to inspect a car. It's a crummy old Chevy with 54000 miles and a few dents on back bumper and fenders. Having all this experience, I photographed them all, of course. Then I had to find a way back to the airport to pick up my wife with the luggage - which also wasn't trivial. Now I am worrying about an ordeal I will have to go through returning the car.
Oh, BTW, penalty for late return (later than 30 minutes of designated time) is 100 bucks. And gas tank has to be completely full (16/16) - you should fill it up within 10 miles of rent return place and show them a receipt! I read some folks were complaining about follow-up charges after the car was returned. Now I am worried how will I find the place (it's away from the airport), where will I fill it up, making sure that I will get a receipt and get there on time. And who knows, what new dents will they find? This is SO much different from basically all other car rentals where you just come in and they tell you lot number where your car is waiting for you.

I had a prepaid reservation made thru Expedia. When I arrived to Puerto Vallarta I was transferred by shuttle to their office as they don't have a counter/office in the airport. This was inconvenient having to haul your luggage to/from the shuttle van when traveling with a kid and someone in a wheel chair. Fox's office is just across the airport! Once at the counter I was told I would have to purchase car insurance as my prepaid purchased insurance was not accepted. Their insurance was $200 USD AND I was told they'd put an $800 USD deposit for any damages. Not wanting to take any risk being hit I accepted the insurance. This is a total scam that they do NOT honor prepaid reservations. My next step is to call Expedia and make sure no one else uses this company.

BEWARE - TOURIST TRAP!!! Do not use no matter how cheap you think they are. They are cheap for a reason. I would give them a "0" star if I could. AC did not work properly on the vehicle number one, but more importantly were the TOLLS: When checking in I was asked if I needed the highway toll pass at $13.99 a day. I asked if I could pay the tolls in person and the receptionist said yes, so I declined respectfully. What she did not inform me about was that there are no toll collectors and you need exact change (no bills or credit card) or you need the sun pass - your only options.
Oh and there are no turn-around points - once you are on the toll road you cannot go back. I had no other choice but to run one toll. I immediately called the Central Florida Expressway Authority to pay my toll where they informed me that I cannot since it was paid for by Fox Rental Car. I called Fox Rental to see if I could pay. lmfao - rude and arrogant and not willing to help or care. Needless to say I am here writing this review and Fox Rental had no problem bilking me for another $69.95 in fees. That equates to $13.99 a day for a single toll that was $1.00 that I tried to pay, lol. My total rental for 5 days was $127 with a $69.95 penalty fee. TOURIST TRAP!

Hold time is minimum 30 minutes. I had also purchased insurance for vandalism, etc. due to all my daughter's stuff in vehicle for college. The counter said I must have purchased that through Priceline and didn't apply. WTF. Someone took my $44.00 for extra coverage. DON'T RENT FROM FOX.

I rented my car at the Phoenix airport and had the car for less than 9 hours, but I know that I had to suck it up and pay for 2 days. When I booked, it was only going to be $70, that turned into $220 when I picked up the car, even though I prepaid for the insurance. I was told it would be refunded when I returned the car, so I let it go. I then had to go to a second location and wait another 30 minutes to get the car. Thankfully I was very thorough in checking the car for all of the scratches and dings, since that saved my butt on extra charges. When I got into the car, it smelled like a mixture of weed and febreze, so that was lovely.
A few hours later, I went to return the car. When I asked about the $150, I was told it would be a few days before it would hit my account but I would only be getting $80 of it back because of the gas charge. When I got the car, it was only 3/4 full and used 1/4, but they insisted they never let cars go with 3/4 of a tank. They had also never informed me of a gas charge, because I would have stopped to fuel up if that were the case. These people are thieves and will take you for whatever they can. Save yourself the headache and just book with a real rental company. The initial price might be more, but it's cheaper in the long run.

Accidentally left an iPad in the car. Called San Francisco Airport Fox "lost and found" information and got a message that menu option was not available. After a long wait on hold, I talked to a representative who said they would get back to me in 24 hours - they didn't. Called again (I could only get a representative at 3 AM, all other times it was infinite on hold) and was told they needed to e-mail the San Fran office and they would respond in 36 hours - they didn't. Have called and e-mailed many times and have heard nothing. By the way, I stood in line for over an hour (after my reservation time) to get the car and had to return it AT the reservation time to avoid another day's charge instead of the hour and a half later when I finally drove away from the airport.

We left a camera in our car rental in San Francisco on Aug 2. I informed the service counter and was passed along to the Operations Manager. He was not available. We had a flight to catch so I was given his card. Once home, I tried to call - no answer. Left message. I then emailed him requesting assistance. No reply. I then called lost and found at least 6 times, no answer. Left message - no reply. I called customer service, waited 15 minutes and was finally able to talk to a live person. All he could do was transfer me to back to the Operations Manager, who was not there - surprise! And left a message. So far no reply. Stay away from this company no matter if you need to pay more from some other company.

We booked our car rental through an online Travel site. We ended up booking with Fox, assuming that a named travel site wouldn't use scamming companies to associate with. Wrong. We arrived in Mexico City and thought we were set when we left the Fox airport office. We had to wait 30 minutes or so for a shuttle, which took us to the other side of the airport and a second Fox airport office. I thought we were there to get the car. Nope, had to check in a second time with different people, though I have no idea why. I'm assuming these were the high end scammers, as the other guy let us slide without troubling us.
Here I was informed that we did not have the insurance I was led to believe I purchased at the time of booking my flight online. Now it suddenly jumped to over $400.00 to insure the car. I have to admit, I didn't know what to do. Having driven in Mexico City before, I was terrified not to have insurance. So we agreed to it. I was quite surprised to find out the car didn't have a GPS. How naive on my part, as it just so happened they had one I could rent! I wavered at the cost, but then they told me it could also be used as a WiFi connection, as well as allowing us to connect up to 5 other phones for calling and texting! Well, having two teenage sons with phones and a great need for GPS, we took it. Our trip to the mountains was finally beginning after a 2 hour ordeal.
You know what? Phones, WiFi, GPS... They don't seem to function worth a crap in the remote parts of Mexico, especially the mountains. We were constantly lost, had no phone or GPS service. Our week passed, the stress of Fox had subsided. But then there was the return trip. We returned the car, were told we scratched it, which we didn't. Then we brought up the fairly worthless phone/GPS and the guy said we'd have to take the shuttle to the airport to get a credit.
We returned to the airport where they proceeded to tell us, "The phone worked just fine, here, try it." We said we know it works in the city, but not when we needed it most. They asked why we didn't call the 24-hour complaint line, we said it was because you cannot call to complain about a phone that won't make calls. At this point I was quite annoyed and was getting heated. When I tried to debate with the guy, he told me if I didn't stop insulting him he would have me arrested by the Mexican police. Obviously there's little else I can add other than to say, please, please, PLEASE stay away from this company! It really ruined the true meaning of vacation.

It was nice to get a ride from the airport to the Fox Car Rental pickup. When we got there we waited in line for over 30 minutes in a warehouse with no ac. Once we got to the counter the lady who was assisting us was not very informative. I inquired about tolls and she said they had some kind of toll program for $11.95 a day. Which I signed up for. She never asked or told us the type of car we had or if we wanted to upgrade or anything. She had me sign paperwork and told me where the car was. We found the car. It was a brand new 2015 Camry. It was so dirty inside. It smelled like smelly shoes. Very dusty on the dashboard. I was wondering how the toll pass thing worked, she never told us anything. So we looked for someone outside that could explain it to us.
After 15 minutes we found a man who told us we just drive through the tolls and they take a picture of our plates. This is something the lady should have told us. Then when we were leaving they make you get in a line and get out to inspect the car from front to back. We were in the car rental place for over an hour in all. Again, it would have been nice for the lady to tell us once we get the car we needed to pull around and go over the shape of the car. The car ran nicely though.

My family and I went to Jamaica in July and rented a car from Fox Rent a Car in Montego Bay. The facility was dirty and so was our car! We asked if they had a GPS because we didn't realize that the one we brought with us didn't work in Jamaica. They had NONE. The other major rental agencies do. They gave us a map, which didn't do us any good. We even bought a map, and that didn't work well for us either as in Negril (where we were staying) there aren't many, if any, street signs, and a lot of places are out of the way.
On the second day of our trip, we tried to find an attraction and couldn't. We wound up having to go back to the airport to see if we could get a GPS from SOMEONE. We spent half the day doing this. At the airport I even spoke to a rep from Fox Rent a Car, who called the office. I asked if we could even bring the car back so we could rent with someone else. After only one day of having the car, they told us they would only give us back the deposit. A person from another rental agency, who took pity on me and was very nice, told the lady that they should give me all the money back minus the charge for the one day we had it. No way for Fox!
I was in tears over this, and Fox Rent a Car single-handedly made me want to dislike Jamaica. My husband wound up going to Digicell inside the airport who were able to provide us with a "phone" that had Google Map/GPS on it. After that, we were okay and were able to find places. DO NOT RENT FROM FOX! They are cheap in price, and you definitely get what you pay for!

Upon arrival, we waited in line for 15 minutes and when finally getting to the counter, were notified that they did not have our reservation. Not only that, they had absolutely NO CARS AT ALL! The agent said to sign and initial at the highlighted sections. One section of which was to initial to ACCEPT LDW. PLEASE read your contract carefully. Lesson learnt: Do not initial or sign without carefully reading the contract.
Plus they deducted $500 from our credit card at the time of rental. As far as I know most regular rental car companies charge the card at the time of return. We thought we were getting a good rate with Fox Rent A Car but after paying 7 days @ 18.99 + taxes we were ripped off. Stick with any other reputable car rental company. When it comes to car rentals, I do my research for the best rate around and usually find one. I thought I had a similar experience with Fox when lo and behold, the LDW insurance that was suppose to be $11 turned into $20/day. It seemed like such a ripoff. Sadly, so as to not incur higher rates with my own insurance, I bit the bait. Then, the car was a complete stink bomb with cigarette smell that was only noticeable after I left and when I opened up my parked car. Whew! It was awful. So again, it's just my opinion but save yourself a lot of aggravation and go with a quality company like Alamo. Their rates may be a bit higher but well worth it and you get to pick the car of your choice in the same class. Please pass on Fox. They try to nickle dime you to death, as the saying goes. From the time I was standing at curb with my bag at Orlando International Airport until I drove my rental car off the Fox lot (which is a shuttle ride away from the airport) it was 1.5 hours. Fees included 10% MCO CRF, 6.5% FL tax, $2/day surcharge, ERF 76 cents/day, VLF $1.17/day and then an early return fee (LOREC) of $15.00/day. There is no legend given to tell what the initials stand for. You are charged the full price of your rental + $150.00 deposit at the time of rental and then your credit card is refunded, if you have money coming back, with the time between credit and actually showing up on your credit card, being variable.
READ THE RENTAL CONTRACT CAREFULLY. On the left hand side, lower part of the large box is a sentence that states: "By initialing here I agree to purchase each of the above coverages AND that I declined any other coverages I have been offered." Well, when I checked my credit card statement after the trip I noticed they took my entire deposit as well! So the additional day cost me 2.5x the daily rate which seems absolutely excessive. My rental experience from Fox almost got two stars because it was not a disaster. But it was a complete mess. I rented from Las Vegas. The first thing, I had to (didn't really HAVE to) make two separate reservations for an extended rental. Why? Because returning it and signing a separate contract, for the same car, was $50 cheaper. So instead of having prices that make sense, they pay you to waste your time and theirs.
So I get there with a pre-paid rental. A standard deposit is $150. The guy doesn't really understand what a pre-paid reservation is, and attempts to charge me about $400 and some odd amount, which he claims is a deposit. I explain that is not correct, and there would be a chance I would only get $150 back and would have to go to court to get the rest. So we politely argue about that for 15 minutes. Then I take a bathroom break and come back. He realizes he screwed up. He charges me some lower, but still odd amount as a deposit. Which ultimately resulted in me getting paid $30 to rent the car (less anger, almost 2 stars remember).
On my second reservation, much like the first, there is no damage form given to me. It is given to you by the gate attendant. And I am going to put on there the same exact things I put on the first one. As I am filling out, the gate attendant tells me I am doing it wrong. Only scratches longer than a pencil and dents deeper than a quarter belong on the sheet. Not that she had gotten out of the booth to examine any part of the car to inspect the car in the least. I tell her "I don't care how big the scratches are... if I can notice them in the dark, I am putting them on the damage sheet. It's my credit card on the line not yours." Her response: "Oh my God, I've been doing this for 20 years... this is unbelievable!" I couldn't believe how idiotic and rude a customer service agent was. I realize a gate agent is no genius and likely has no experience renting a car, but to be openly hostile to customers? This made me extremely upset.
So I return my car at the end of my vacation and get on the shuttle, which if you look at the billing details -- you paid about $10 for two shuttle rides that are 1 mile apiece. The shuttle driver hurries me on to the shuttle, even though no one else is on it or waiting for to board. Rather than offer to take my bags, he simply grabs one. I exit the bus, and one of my bags has a broken handle, which I didn't really initially blame on him. After I was not forthcoming with a tip, he said "Thanks a lot" in the most hostile and insolent tone you could imagine. So yeah. It was by far the cheapest rental at the time I booked. Is it worth the savings? It's hard to say. But someone needs to crack down on them.

Fox car rental is a joke. They lie to you to get you to purchase gas, insurance, upsale. They are so limited to cars compared to the other rental companies that, 90 percent of the time they try to upsale you. They don't have the car you reserved anyway. And when they tell you that you're getting a discount believe me you're not getting a discount at all. When they tell you a price and that's for every extra they boot the price up 3 times what the original price is and they start telling you they are going to give you all of these discounts and they start clicking buttons on the computer, they are not clicking nothing. They are just hitting the mouse on an empty spot on the screen to make you think you're getting a discount but you're not getting anything. About time you get the extras you are paying the original price any way which is outrageous. So all of this hype about you getting a good deal and discount you are not getting nothing.
Like I said after you upgrade and thought you were getting a good deal you were getting screwed, you could gotten that upgrade for fee. There is no such thing as a medical field discount, education discount, law enforcement discount, believe me none of these discount exist. You have been lied to and they will continue to lie to you. They have a law suit against them now, so from one consumer to another do not pay for any of that mess because you are being lied to. Did you know that the gas you prepay, they say it's cheaper but believe me about time they add taxes - you are paying more than you would on the streets. I know I worked there and I'm just giving you the facts.
So I told you what's going on with those crooks at Fox and you have the real truth first hand so if you continue to rent from Fox and and their lying and deceiving ways, when you turn the car and get home look in the mirror and say "I'm stupid." I'm not someone that's just mad at Fox - I'm just tired of them ripping people off. (YOU ARE NOT GETTING ANY DISCOUNTS, THEY ARE NOT CLICKING ON ANYTHING. THEY JUST MAKE YOU THINK THEY ARE.)
The next time they tell you you're getting a discount ask them to let you see the discount and you will catch them in the act. You can get an upgrade for $10 on any car, and like I said 90 percent of the time you can get it for free. (I guess they seen you coming.) That's part of their training process to lie and deceive you. If your insurance is $120 they are going to tell you it cost $350 then they will tell you "I'm going to give you all of these discount," and when they are done you will end up paying the original price for it $120 and you got no discount whatsoever. They are a lie and a cheat, you're hearing it first hand, I worked there. Cars are old and very nasty.

Rental at Cancun airport - We had used fox before when off airport and were very happy. This time we booked online as usual but when we presented the paperwork they said it was an additional 180.00 because the website was wrong on price. They were talking about the airport rental charges. We argued but at that point we only wanted to get to our hotel so dropped it till we returned. Upon return I contacted Fox several times and have yet to get a reply from them. It has been 3 months so now I start doing reviews.

Fox Rent A Car: Terrible from the 25 minute offsite shuttle rental office ride from airport. Not good when you have a meeting to get to as soon as you fly in. Conducted paperwork to rent my car and with keys in hand, go outside to obtain car.... Car nowhere to be found and no one can find the car that I rented. 30 minutes later got a new car. How can you lose a car?
2014 Nissan Versa-S was dirty with stains over 50% of the inside of the cloth seats. Fox Rent a Car sprayed carpet spray to cover up smell but still smelled like a dead cat. 90 degree weather, humid and Tampa FL; do I need to say more? 2014 Nissan Versa-S had manual everything - windows, mirrors, seats, and radio. I could NOT bring co-workers or clients in this rental even if I wanted to. It was a two person job to fix the driving review mirrors and still didnt work. Unsafe!
Returning of the car... pulled in at 0600 am for a 0800 o'clock flight and Fox Rent A Car charged me 58.00 plus tax for full tank of gas. Just put in 15.00 worth of gas to fill up 10 minute prior. Customer service person and front desk could not figure out to remove charge. Assured me that a manager would fix charge and get receipt to me NLT 0900 that morning. Yup... nothing until I spent 2 Hours on phone, finally getting billing to remove the charge 4 days later. NOT HAPPY!
Unprofessional Staff: The shuttle drive was so nice that he waited for me to become complete but was verbally talked to by the manager on duty for waiting for the customer when I was the only one there at that time of the day. His apologies were from the rental store to airport. I tried to call three times during my stay in Tampa, but nothing and no return calls. I would like the 186.58 refunded for this rental. It is terrible that one has to pay for such bad service, professionalism and product. I WILL NEVER rent or recommend your company

I book a Camry-sized vehicle from the Orlando office. We waited around 20 mins. for the shuttle to arrive (pretty slow compared to the other companies). We arrive at the rental agency and went back and forth on the selection of vehicles that they had on site. Salima stated that she had the jeep out front for only a $3.00/day upgrade. My wife and I both asked if she was sure that it was only $3.00/day and she replied that it was correct. We completed the paperwork (I never looked at the receipt at this time, my fault on that one) and received the keys and were told the person outside would help us. We went and loaded our luggage into the vehicle and the guy outside just stayed on his phone, never looking at us.
We started the vehicle and Salima that checked us out came to smoke a cigarette with the outside guy, again both never looking at us. We drove off to the hotel. The next day I received a call from a out-of-state # with a voice mail instruction us to call them that they needed info on our vehicle. I called the # multiple times throughout the day but no answer. The next day I missed a call from Wanda with a voicemail to call them. After multiple calls and left voice mails, Wanda finally contacted me. THEY WANT TO KNOW WHAT VEHICLE I HAD!!! I told Wanda about the issue with the upgrade charges. She stated that she would have a manager contact me by 0900 the next day. I never did receive a call from anyone for the next 4 days of my stay.
The number on the rental agreement only goes to voicemail and the toll-free # goes to Oklahoma. It takes forever for someone to answer. I did speak with Fred who gave me the # to the billing dept. When I dropped it off Sunday, the lady that checks the cars back in asked me for the walk-around paperwork that we did when we rented. I stated to her that no one did a walk-around when we picked it up so I have no paperwork. We went inside and spoke to the lady about the upcharge. She stated that there is no $3.00 upcharge, that it is $18.00. We explained what we were told upon renting and that it was a $90.00 difference (again I did not check my receipt when I rented. That will NEVER happen again). She went and talked to a manager. She came back down and said that he refunded 60% ($63.26) of the upcharge.
I stated that was not good enough and we wanted the full $90.00 base on what we were quoted. He stated that he could not refund the whole $90.00. I told him that I would contact my credit card company to stop the payment of this charge until I was refunded the complete difference ($ 26.74). He stated that he did not have Selma there to ask about this and that he would talk to her.
As I write this, I called the billing dept. It took 20 mins for someone to answer. She stated that she could not override the manager at the location. I asked to speak to her manager and was told that he could not override the manager either. I then asked to speak to her manager's manager. She put me on hold and then came back a little while later and told me that she spoke with the lot manager and he would refund the $26.74. We will see if they hold true to their word. I am not holding my breath!! Looks like they are not on the same page and you will have a hard time getting someone on the phone to resolve any problems you have. Please go with a reputable company!!

My friend and I drove down Highway 1 last summer (July 2014), and we were initially impressed with the low prices for car rentals through Fox. However, the terrible service throughout the entire company has diminished any positive attributes Fox may have had. We picked up our Ford Mustang convertible at the San Jose Airport location and returned at the LAX location. We paid in full. A credit card was on file. This should be the end of the story. Yet, almost a year later, an individual (Jonny **) from the LAX location contacted my friend saying that they didn't charge her card correctly, and claimed she had an outstanding invoice. They then sent this to a collections agency without even contacting her. She double checked with her credit card company, Chase, and they confirmed that Fox already charged her for the full $456.66 last July. Fox needs to stop harassing her for a bill that she already paid in full!

I arrived in Orlando, FL on 7/10/15. The rep @ the desk seemed annoyed I was not purchasing additional insurance and didn't bother to warn me about the toll system in FL. Needless to say, moments after I leave the rental office, I hit the first toll of $1.00 and didn't have ANY cash on me, and of course, no cards are accepted. So, I get cash to make sure I'm prepared for the remainder of the trip. Later that night, I pull off on an exit following GPS directions and I hit a "cashless" toll - by that time, it was too late to turn around. The following day, I hit another toll but this one is unattended and accepts COINS ONLY.
A warning from the rental office to out of state travelers would be nice. I haven't yet been charged by Fox for the unpaid tolls (it's only been a little over a week. I did try to call the FL state toll system per a toll booth rep but they would not accept the payment on a rental car and said it'd go to the rental company.) I read the rental contract and it states that unpaid tolls are subject to a surcharge of up to $40.00 per. Considering each toll was $1.00-$1.50 - totaling maybe $3.50, if I'm charged $40 toll per I'll never do business with Fox again.

I have rented from Fox car rental at least 2 times in the past and chose them for my recent trip. The ease of renting at the counter and the agent who helped me was not the issue. When I arrived at LAX on a Tuesday about 4:30 pm, LAX was noticeably busy. However, several shuttles from other car rental agencies past by as I waited for the Fox Shuttle to bring me to my car. All tolled, it took me 2 hours from baggage claim to be transported from the LAX terminal to the Fox counter to my final destination which was a 15 minute ride from the airport. It was a one hour and 45 minute ordeal to rent a car from Fox car rental!
My return of the car was no better! Thus the reason for my complaint - I arrived at the Fox return at 9:15 am and was quickly processed for the car return. Again this was a shuttle issue! As I approached the rental lot, 2 Fox shuttles were already en route toward the airport I assume. A standing room only crowd waited over 25 minutes for the next shuttle (9:50 AM) to bring us to the terminal which made me and others on board late for our flights. I was refused passage on my JetBlue flight because I arrived at the ticket counter 2 minutes past the 30 minute cut off for baggage and had to take the next flight out of LAX. During high travel season, Fox is cutting corners with their shuttles by carrying full and standing room only shuttles to and from the airport. If you rent from them, which I would not do again, be prepared to spend at least 2 hours once you land to get and return a car!!!

I am so very sorry that I did not read these reviews! We rented the car through CarRentals.com. I do not know yet if they will provide any assistance in remedying our bad experience with Fox. My husband was extremely pressured to get their insurance. He called me and even had me speak to the agent. I told them both that we did not want or need additional insurance. I did advise my husband to buy a full tank of gas given how long he will be in CA. However, the agent clearly lied about the price of area gasoline saying that it ran up to $5.00/gallon. My online check shows that prices are less than $4.00/gallon and less than the per gallon price Fox charged for the full tank. At most, a full tank should have been no more than $60.00 additional charge. Checking online, however, I see that Fox has charged an additional $233 to my card.
Based on my husband's experience and what I read here, it is clear to me that this company only stays in business because people are directed to them via companies such as CarRentals.com and Priceline, and their customers are picking up cars out of town and after a tiring travel day. Like others, I will NEVER rent from Fox and I will be posting to Facebook to warn all my friends away from them as well.

My experience with the Fox Car Rental in L.A. was very frustrating and disappointing. To begin with I had to wait about 30 minutes to see the counter person. She then attempted to pressure me into purchasing insurance which I did not want or need. I finally had to tell her to back off. Along with about 20 other customers I had to wait at least an hour to get a car. When I returned the car I learned that I had been driving a rental with some other customers paperwork. This took at least another 30 minutes to clear up.
We waited for the shuttle for about 40 minutes and finally had to take a taxi back to the airport in order to not miss my flight. I was supposed to be credited with a $150.00 dollar security refund which I am still waiting for. I have called the manager there 3 times and he has not yet returned my calls. I finally reached a very nice women by the name Destiny at the corporate office who apologized to me and asked me to check on Monday about my refund. Today is Saturday. She is the only positive component of this company that I have experienced. I don't expect that I will ever be using Fox rental again.

After we flew into Miami airport we knew we had to take a shuttle to the car rental port. After not finding Fox there, we learned we had to go outside and get on a bus that takes 10 more minutes to the Fox office. Finally get there only to open the door to find that a long line extended right to the door with only 1 or 2 agents working verryyy slooowllly. It took us over an hour and a half to get to the front of the line in the office with no air conditioning on a 95-degree day. There were also people coming in complaining of broken down cars and no one answering the phones to help. It took about 20 minutes for the agent to write us up.
My "cheap" $316 rental price now shows up as $647. Why? Because they tack on a required $23.99 per day for insurance. They explained that I cannot use my normal State Farm Insurance because they don't allow for transfers. When I balked he said, "Well if you want to take the chance of driving around Miami with absolutely no insurance I can take it off." Well I took it. I probably should have called my insurance company (or the cops since I felt like I was getting robbed in the middle of nowhere). The car was dirty, apparently not having been cleaned since the previous renter. The 4WD engine light was on the entire time, too. We drove to Key West and back without problems and they did credit back $150 deposit. But I will never use them again and hope no one else does either.

Arrived at the Oakland airport 15 minutes early to pick up a car I had reserved online. When I stepped to the counter, I was told that they were currently out of cars and I could put my name on the waiting list, there was just one customer ahead of me, however there were 3 names on the list. The customer service rep was polite and apologetic, but that did not help my situation. I was furious and extremely upset. I had made the reservation for the rental car in order to attend the funeral of a dear friend.
The instructions online were very clear, be sure to present the credit card used for the reservation with your license when you pick up the car. The name on the credit card and license must be the name of the driver. Print your confirmation e-mails and bring them with you. Nowhere on the site did it say even though you have reserved a car for a specific date and time, it is first come first served and you may not get a car at all.
Fortunately I was at the airport where I had my choice of car rental companies. I walked to the next window and rented a car from Enterprise Rent-A-Car, was out the door and on the road in a clean quality car in less then 5 minutes. This experience just drove home the old adage "you get what you pay for". I was trying to get the best deal I could and what I got was frustration and anger. I will never rent a car from Fox car rental.

If the word "unethical" is a negative rating for Fox Rent a Car - then STAY AWAY from this car rental company. As a frequent traveler, I am no stranger to the procedures of renting an automobile, be it in the USA or foreign country. Unfortunately for me, I booked a rental car through Priceline for such usage, while visiting Scotland for a 3-day trip. I will repeat.. I am not a virgin traveler!
Even though my Priceline receipt at the time of booking clearly stated the final price - including TAXES and FEES, I know there are often added costs by an agency to drain more funds once you pick up the vehicle. We are absolutely obsessive about making sure to refill the gas tank upon return to avoid this surcharge and do everything we can to stay within the original quoted price.
HOWEVER, needless to say, it was more than an unhappy surprise to get our final billed statement for DOUBLE the original amount!!! This is clearly a bait and switch operation between Priceline and Fox Travel. When I questioned this with Priceline..."Thanks for your concerns, we have made a note to find out how to avoid this mishap in the future." Basically "sorry, someone must have 'mis-communicated' between our companies. We'll work on it for next time." This was my interpretation of the resolution. So, the customer pays for THEIR learning experiences!!!
It's always great to pay for someone else's learning experience. I will repeat, stay away from Fox Rent A Car. Rethink Priceline even with receipt in hand, AND question everything, an additional gasoline charge automatically charged (whether you refill your tank or not), a DAILY registration fee(???), and the notorious "Premium Location fee," which I might add was not even in the airport. Keep in mind, Fox also adds their "per day commission fee" as a final kick in your wallet. So, unless this business tactic is acceptable practice to you, find a rental company that treats their customers with honesty and commitment to problem resolution!

The agent consulted with his supervisor and I was told it was ok. Only later I realized that their contract is limited only to Western states and does not cover any in the East or Center! After less than 2000 miles my car started getting blinking message "Oil change is required". I could not reach anybody from their hotlines for 3 days. Since 2 days, there has been problem with one of the tire's pressure. On the first day, I simply went to a gas station and added more air. Yesterday morning, the tire was flat again. I spent all morning trying to reach someone from Fox car rental road assistance. When I reached someone, she told me to go to a Firestone shop. I was happy too early, there was no Firestone shop in the area (Northern Idaho).
I had to call again, this time after about 30 min I was able to get hold someone, who directed me to another workshop and gave me their physical address. I drove over to the provided address to find out that the workshop had no idea about Fox car rental. I begged them to fix my car since I had plans to leave the town the next day. The workshop people were very kind and helped me to fix the tire and look at the oil and said that they would send the bill to the rental car company. I am very disappointed that I have to drop my initial holiday plan to drive to Rhode Island and Maine and return the car. The customer support agent after not so pleasant "support" advised me to drive to Denver to speak to a manager in person and pay there another $400 for the differed return location. I paid over $3,200 for the 2 months, and of course did not expect such a service.
Forget about the cleanliness of the car. When renting the car, it was after a long flight - I just wanted to leave LAX area quickly, I ignored that. I did not expect that there would be more trouble. I did not plan spending my holiday searching for a Firestone shop or another workshop and then beg them to fix my car with a contract of a car rental company they never heard about. The Bluetooth in the car audio does not work, I have to stop to make calls. The AC is not working properly. I still have the car, I need to drive back to LAX and return it hoping that they will not overcharge for the miserable service. I am extremely upset, because of them, I might lose a large contract ($500,000) because I won't be able to implement the project as it had been initially planned.

After showing a low-ball price on their website, when I got to the counter to pick up the car in Kauai, HI, I was coerced/threatened into buying "loss of use insurance" for $10/day, because I would have to pay $70/day while the car was out of service if it was damaged, and since it takes 10 days to get parts shipped into HI - this would save me lots of money! I've never had this experience at any other rental car company.
After driving away, the warning came up "Low Washer Fluid" - it was completely empty! Then I wanted to turn the car in early, and found I would have had to pay a huge "cancellation fee" - what a rip-off. Plus, the car was several years old and all dinged up - I expected they would try to get me to pay for some of the old dings, but they didn't. A week later is when I received a fee of $200. At the time I did not know what I was being charged for. When I called customer service they told me I returned my rental to the wrong location. I had to wait an hour for the shuttle to pick me up at LAX. Meanwhile I watched every other car rental company shuttle drive by. Fox was MIA. I called the office four times to ask where the shuttle driver was, and I was told he was stuck in traffic. Really, shouldn't they have all been stuck in traffic?
Watched all the other shuttles whiz by at least 5-6 times while I was waiting. It appears that Fox has only one shuttle driver. The following problems occurred: They have no desk, telephone number, or presence at all at the airport. We had to ask information how to get to them. They claim to have a shuttle from the airport. They do not. You have to take a city bus to the Sheraton hotel. There are two Sheratons on the route and the bus driver let us off at the first one. That was wrong. It should not be up to a city bus driver to get us to a rental agency. There are no markings on the hotel for the car rental so you have to walk in and ask the front desk.
We arrived and there were only 2 people in ahead of us and 2 agents yet it took 30 minutes to get to us. The price was more than agreed on through Expedia. They hold you hostage with their insurance and hidden fees. They are not a good value. They aren't cheaper than the bigger companies. They nickel and dime everything. The man in line ahead of us was upset that he'd rented a car, had a blown tire which he paid for at his own expense, and the repairman had told him that all of the other tires had illegal tread on them. They kept saying that he could call corporate. After all the paperwork was done our car hadn't arrived. We waited 30 mins more. It appeared there were only 3 employees.
End result: after 2.5 hours from airport exit to still no car arrival we canceled the car and scrapped our trip to Stonehenge because we didn't have enough time. We were also afraid of how long it would take to return the car and any possible problems that could arise because their customer service was terrible. The lady said we'd have to call corporate for a refund but my husband insisted that the transaction be voided and she did it. At the moment the rental fee is not there but the deposit is still pending on our credit card account. We only had one day in London and part of it was ruined! We will NEVER rent from them again.

I booked through a third party site and received a rate of $13/day. My total with taxes should have been $82.55. Upon returning the vehicle to the Myrtle Beach airport location, I found out that my card was charged $313 on the day of pickup (4 days ago), and they charged me TWICE today for $82.55! The desk representative was the same incompetent person who processed the transaction upon arrival. Now, my credit card is tied up with close to $500 from this shady company for 4 days in a VA Jetta with intermittent air conditioning. I've tried reaching corporate customer service and it goes straight to a message saying "no one is available to take your call. I'm calling the BBB and my attorney first thing in the morning. My husband and I rented a car through Fox in Phoenix, AZ. There were a couple of people in line ahead of us that were very angry with the service, so this should have been our first clue. We rented at a great rate through Orbitz and informed the representative that we were not interested in any extra insurance or roadside assistance. We wanted the rented rate. He verbalized to us to initial on the contract that we were waiving the services but in actuality, he had us initial that we're purchasing it.
Granted, there were tiny prices next to where we initialed, but it was clear he was scamming us into purchasing the insurance - he NEVER indicated what a cost would be or clearly indicated to us this is what he was having us sign for. When we returned the car, he was incredibly rude and informed us that it was our fault. We received a crappy vehicle that was completely dinged up and had no cruise control and the rental rate ended up being $100 over the price we originally thought we were renting it for on Orbitz. I will NEVER use this service again - it was terrible!

The button wasn't responding and I decided to give Fox rental a call and notify them about this problem. They notated what I called about and I then asked them if they can reimburse a partial amount from the total. They said yes, $75 will be returned back on top of the $150 deposit when the car is returned.
When I returned the car, the worker accepted the car and said my refund will be within 24 hours to my debit bank card. I didn't have time to argue with him about me paying them cash and them refunding me to my account because I was running late to catch my flight. Days went by and I never received my refund for the $75 credit for the top not working nor did I receive my $150 deposit. I'm very upset about this entire situation because it was my birthday when I was in Miami and because of that, I had to rent another car to get around as the convertible was parked for 4 days because of the defective top.

The cashier/attendant was very short in what she was telling me, talking very fast, annoyed by questions, etc. Very rude. I have tried to call to see if I could extend one day. No one will answer the phone, all day. 30 min hold and I gave up more than once. 24/7 chat line has no one available to chat - they will get back to me via email when someone is available.
I finally got through to a person at 10:30pm and when I asked about options I was told that to extend one day would be triple the original rate, and to return early I would have to pay for all the days I originally booked plus fifteen for each day early. When I drove vehicle off lot they handed me papers to initial, I said I hadn't inspected these things and the lady told me we only worry about major damage. This was rushed and jumbled, and I do not look forward to actually turning the car in. I have read all of the nightmare reviews about fraudulent charges. My husband and I rented a car from Fox out of San Jose, CA. Problem #1: Our flight into CA was messed up and the airline was trying to get us to our destination but the only option they could offer that was close to getting us in on time was an airport 30 miles away. We called Fox to see if we could switch our rental location and the price went from $400 to $1200! There was ZERO customer service! The only way we could get Fox to communicate was by posting an angry post on Twitter. At that point it was too late and we had to settle for 4 flights and 22 hours of travel to get us from NY to CA (original destination).
Problem #2: When Fox finally did answer our post they promised us 10% off our bill which they never gave us. We had to fight with them for 1 month after the trip to get the refund we were promised. Problem #3: We expectantly got caught on an unmanned toll road. We were expecting to have to pay the toll plus a small fee. According to the Fox policy on their website "you will be charged a USD/2.95 per day convenience fee for each day of the rental including any days on which the service is not used up to a maximum of USD/14.75 per rental month PLUS incurred tolls at the cash rate". However, they decide to charge you an additional $40 fine. Our $7 toll to cross the bridge has now turned into $67 in fines.
When we try to contact customer service you have to sit on hold for a minimum of 30-40 for someone to answer, only to give you another phone number to call and then they hang up on you. We call the phone number and VMS is claiming that Fox authorized the charge and Fox is claiming that they didn't place the charge. Apparently we are not alone: BEWARE - **. Resolution: One month later we finally received the 10% refund (several emails and phone calls to get it). However the additional $40 fee has not been refunded or justified!

I booked through FOX's website. I've gone with FOX 3 times over a few years, but doubt I ever will again. Even if Fox has prices that best most other agencies, a customer should be able to expect quality customer service and a nice vehicle. NEVER have I received a clean car from FOX, but that's small potatoes.
I rented a Standard car, and according to the website, I was to receive a Ford Fusion or something similar. I've spent lots of time in a Ford Fusion and knew it would be great for our purposes. The man at the counter gave me my total, which included a deposit (not mentioned when I booked) of $150. He also immediately and repeatedly tried to upsell us on an SUV to the point of irritation ("Would you take it for $20/day extra? No? Oh wait, look -- it's on sale! How about $10/day extra?") then moved on to explain various insurance options -- all while we're telling him we were on a budget and in a bit of a rush (the latter was not his fault; it was due to a missing suitcase at the airport). But his chatter was a waste of our time.
Ultimately, we got the "or something similar" to the Fusion, which was a Nissan Sentra. Upon inspection, there were HUGE, hideous gouges on the driver's door frame that were clearly indicative of the car having been broken into. I questioned this at the inspection/exit gate and was told that FOX has to break into their own cars when keys get locked inside. Really, you don't have two sets of keys? I don't even think a 5-yr-old would buy that, but even if it's true, no car should be offered in compromised condition. In any case, at this point we were super late and there was no way to get inside to trade out, given the lengthy wait we'd already had in line.
At FOX, Sentra is apparently secret code for "car that demands you put the pedal to the floor to get up to the lowest of freeway speeds." Maybe they didn't calibrate the oxygen mix for Colorado (it had Arizona plates), but we were due to meet people soon after renting, and by the time we noticed the incredible lack of power on the highway & slight inclines of Denver, there was zero chance of returning it. It was the most miserable, scary rental experience of my life -- merging was treacherous due to the inability to reach appropriate speeds.
Kudos to the woman who checked our car in; I didn't catch her name, but she brought my receipt and took $20 off the price for our inconvenience. It was a very nice thing to do and she was super sweet, but it doesn't make up for the money I paid for a truly awful rental experience. In the future I'll likely pay a bit more for clean, well-serviced cars from other agencies, and will be sure to tell my friends to consider the same.

I rented a car from Fox Rent a Car in Las Vegas 4/23-4/26/2015. Shortly after I returned the car on 4/26 (in fact on the way to the airport) I realized that I had left my camera in the console between the two front seats. Immediately after my flight home I called Fox, and called them daily for about a week, trying both the lost and found extension, and the customer rep phone numbers. I was able to reach a live person just once, but left many voice mails in increasing desperation to retrieve my phone. A customer rep tried to help, told me she should contact the local branch manager and definitely get back to me about the whereabouts of my camera. I never heard back from her, or received any phone call back from the numerous voice messages left on lost and found, and the local Las Vegas message machines.
One customer rep gave me the phone number of the local (Las Vegas) lost and found person, I called and left a message, he called back and left me a message that he would look into finding the lost item and would get back to me. He never called back. Today (after a 40 minutes "hold" on the phone while the computer voice assured me that my call was very important to them etc.) I again told a customer rep that I had left my camera in the car, that anyone cleaning out the car between rental customers would have surely found it, and wanted to find out how I could retrieve the lost item. She said she couldn't help me, would send another note to someone at the Las Vegas branch, that she couldn't give me the phone number of anyone at the Las Vegas branch, or anyone's name there.
The level of customer (non)service is horrible. I have never been treated so poorly. No one has ever told me that they found, or didn't find, the camera. If the camera was not found, it was surely appropriated by the person who cleaned the car out between customers, because there is absolutely no doubt that the camera was left in that console. I am hopeful that the camera can be found, or that I can be reimbursed for its loss. It is a Sony RX-100, a high-end point-and-shoot camera that was the retirement gift I received from my company after my 30 years of working there.

A couple of days ago, on May the 11th of 2015, I was coerced into letting Fox rental car company perform a credit check on me. Prior to allowing this abomination of a company review my credit, I asked if this would reflect as a hard or soft inquiry. Both reps on duty assured me it would be a soft, despite my second question into whether or not they were sure, to which the female employee rudely told me "Yes, I've already told you yes. I don't know what your definition of soft or hard is, but it would not reflect on your credit." However, I have checked my credit score today and these monsters have performed a hard inquiry. Why you may ask? Because I did not have my credit card or flight itinerary with me.
In short, to wrap up my first consumer affairs review, I would highly recommend to everyone, "Avoid this company as though they were the plague." The customer reps are rude, misinformed and will do anything so long as you rent a car and get out. When I arrived at the counter, each counter attendant (4 - attendants) had customers. There was only one couple ahead of me in line. 3 of the 4 counter attendants had to ask the 4th attendant for their customers' cars. The 4th attendant was calling down stairs for every customer's car. I stood in line of 15 to 20 minutes before I was able to get to the counter. When I got to the counter, handed my confirmation information to the attendant. They couldn't find my reservation. They finally found my reservation, but now couldn't find a car for me. My attendant and the other attendants told the manager that things were not going well. The wait times was were too long. But nothing happened. Only apologies were given.
My attendant finally had to go down stairs herself and find out what was going on. "Walk customers" were getting their cars before me. My attendant returned to tell me that she had gotten me a car. By the time I finished with the paperwork, I had stood at the counter for over 30 minutes. My attendant asked that I wait 5 minutes before going down to the garage to get my car. After 5 minutes, I went to the garage, handed my paperwork to the garage attendant and was told that my car would be right up. 25 minutes later, my car shows up. This was the worst experience I've ever had renting a car. I sent them an e-mail explaining my experience, but never got a reply. I don't believe their website allows your e-mails to go through. I'd reserved a smaller car for a very specific reason (parking situation at my destination) but was put into a Dodge Charger. The car was not particularly clean - dust on the dash and water spotted all over exterior. The return to the terminal after drop off was worse than the pick up. I waited an hour and forty minutes just to get on their bus, which was actually their second bus as the first one just rolled by about half full. I made my flight by about 5 minutes and under a lot of undue stress.
Attracted by their prices, I've rented from Fox a half dozen times. Most of the time my experience is very similar to my April 15/20 experience. I will NOT be using them again! Fox is extremely poorly managed. The facilities are shabby and the agents give you line after line. Although given with what the line employees have to work with, it's probably the best they can do. I'm sure it's just as hard on them dealing with poor transportation and poor car availability. It struck me this time around that there were no suits waiting in line. They sneak in insurance charges, roadside assistance and other fees into their bill. Thankfully I did not sign anything requesting these additional charges. However I have spent hours upon hours upon hours trying to reach someone from customer service, no luck... My review echoes many of the other reviews seen here. This is just a terrible terrible company! DO NOT USE THEM!

Rented from Fox. Driving in California we accidentally turned onto a toll road and did not have any opportunity to pay. About 2 weeks later we received a $3.26 toll to pay in the mail. Then Fox sent us a letter from a company that they use to process tolls (VMS) that charged us an additional $40. I don't mind paying a reasonable processing fee but this was out of line. I will never rent from Fox again.

Fox saved me when I was stranded by Dollar-Thrifty. I had processed a prepaid reservation for a Thrifty rental car in March 2015, via their contracted 'third party' CarTrawler data service. I arrived at the Thrifty rental counter in Orlando in April. After running a 'soft' credit check, Thrifty refused to provide me with a vehicle, even though I presented my CarTrawler prepaid reservation, a valid driver's license and a VISA debit card with access to sufficient funds. After inquiring with several other car rental companies about their rental requirements, I visited the 'off site' car rental company FOX. The counter agent was professional and courteous. Even though I did not have a reservation they provided me with a Toyota Corolla with the same VISA debit card and driver's license. I was even able to drop the car in Tampa, as my original itinerary required. If it wasn't for Fox, I would have been left stranded in the Orlando airport by Thrifty.

I call the 1 800 number at 1 am and they said they would put notes in my file so that I would not get charged & to go ahead and accept the car. Now they refuse to talk to me. My husband and I visited FL from 2/10 to 2/17 (one week) this year. We landed in Miami and picked up our rental car and drove to Key Largo. I was told that with a rent a car, the tolls would show up on my credit card. Now, our visit was in Feb. and I am still receiving toll charges as of today 4/7, so far adding up to $53.80. I became concerned about these charges and called FOX many times. Tried to get someone in their billing dept. and kept being transferred and listened to the phone ringing, sometimes for as long as 30 minutes and no one answered. I was never able to reach billing.
I then, called the toll company listed on my credit card and still was unable to connect with a human. I resorted to calling my credit card company and they were able to put me in contact with the toll company and I received my receipts. So, our trip cost us over $50.00 in tolls for one week in the "Florida Keys". Apparently besides the tolls, there is a toll convenience fee of $2.95/day, which added up to $18.40 for us. We had no idea about that at all!!!! The service was just terrible. The first car we received, had a starter problem and they had to come out with a tow truck and give us another car. Also trying to speak to someone was a nightmare. We will never rent from this company again.

Never ever rent from Fox Rental Car! I rented a 9-passenger van at Fox Rental Car through Expedia in Antalya, Turkey. When we arrived, the Fox Rental Car counter was not at the airport, however the Expedia confirmation clearly states the counter is located at the airport. We had to call the local Fox Rental Car office and someone finally showed up 30 minutes later. Not only did they not have the van, the guy had an attitude and told me I needed to confirm the reservation, even though the Expedia confirmation states "No need to call us to reconfirm this reservation".
After two hours on the Skype phone with Expedia, the bottom line was Fox advertised the van as available on the Expedia website, and the reservation was received but knowingly rented the van to someone else. While talking to Expedia, I want to be sure my recollection was correct so I went to the Expedia website and the same van was available for rental for the next two days, even though Expedia confirm the van was not available after speaking to the Antalya Fox Rental Car office. This is blatant false advertisement (I have the confirmation and a snapshot of the Expedia website Fox Rental Car offer). I advised Expedia to take this off their website, otherwise they are just as guilty. My conclusion is to never rent from Fox Rental Car again, and would advise anyone reading this to do the same. Nobody should face this kind of bad business during his or her vacation.

We had to wait for the attendant to bring our car-- he was very aggressive and rude (he actually squealed the tires). We added a GPS to our rental-- this cost the same price per day as the actual car. They are going to direct you to another car rental agency if they have no cars (which they shouldn't have, as we had a reservation months before) we got referred to Firefly. There was no talking to that lady. She did her thing adding this and that, and indicated we had nothing to worry about. My input wasn't accepted at all in the 5 minutes it took. My trip should have been $265 upon arrival for 7 days. Well I paid over $665. Thought I'd need another job.

More conversations and emails and I was supposed to get some more back for taxes and fees that they said they didn't include, "Well ** I'm still waiting and waiting and waiting". She told me the upgrade would be $25.00 a day, not $25.00 additional per day. We ended up paying $48 a day for Kia economy car. Additionally, she told me I would be refunded for the unused portion of the prepaid fuel. Additionally, she do not tell you that refusing the insurance is an option and charged me for an additional driver when your spouse driving is suppose to be free. When I noticed the discrepancies the next day, I called customer service and was told I would have to drive back to the Orlando office.
I returned to the office two days after the original transaction and the supervisor at the facility corrected the contact from that day forward but refused to correct any charges for the two days that had already transpired. The people I dealt with at this location were rude and did not provide anything resembling customer service. The supervisor that we worked with during our complaint resorted to calling my husband names and then lied about having a business card so we could not report his bad behavior to the corporate office. When I returned home, I spent over 4 hours and spoke to 7 different people in the corporate office. The issue was still not resolved to my satisfaction but they basically wore me down, I could not spend any more time on it.
This group may be lowest rate on the booking sites, but they will upcharge you when you pick up the car which will bring their rate in line with other agencies. That combined with the frustration if you need to complain about anything in your transaction makes it worth paying the Avis or Hertz rental price instead of gambling on this company. If you do decide to book with Fox, read the contract! Do not trust one word the desk clerk says. The rental car outlet is off the airport - a bus ride to where the respectable companies are situated and then another shuttle from there (of course this is not disclosed when making a booking).
The processing time is at least 30 mins per person. So be prepared to wait a very long time in line as there will be insufficient people working to give you timely service. The frustration lead to me being sucked in by some fine print which resulted in USD170 of extra charges. I had rented a mid-size SUV through Expedia but only car available was a Chevy Aveo (a compact car). My rental rate was not modified in spite of the difference in car category. Furthermore, I was told that I needed to purchase not only SLI insurance but also CDW. I showed the agent my StateFarm insurance card, but the rude manager told me that that was insufficient and that I needed to have brought my full car insurance documentation.

Nothing but trouble. I made arrangements to rent a mid-size car (Corolla or similar). Seemed like a decent price and they had a shuttle from the airport to the rental site. Fox caught me at a weak moment because one of the passengers just found out their step-mom passed away, so I was convinced to buy the insurance.
Don't need to buy the insurance. If something happens take care of it then. Usually, if you have full coverage on your own car you should be good. Was also told to buy the prepaid fuel to save money at $2 a gallon. Well, it was actually $2.09 a gallon. Only saves you cents if you return the car on empty. Found it is somewhat hard to actually return a car on empty. Knowing that we would have to return at least a day early for the funeral, I asked about changing the reservation to one day less (this is before paying). The Fox representative said early return was no problem and never mentioned anything about a fee. Finding out now that there is a $15 per day fee for early return and that it wouldn't have been considered an early return if he would have changed it on the contract before I paid. Thanks Christopher.
Walked outside to the number 6 lot where we were to select a car. Fox was trying to be sneaky and put compact cars in this section because they were out of mid-size. Instead of being truthful and offering us a compact car at a discount, they hoped we wouldn't notice. Luckily, there was one truthful employee that help us out on this issue. When choosing a car they all had dirty interiors, so we just avoided the ones that smelled like weed.
When making flight arrangements, I found a better flight time out of Orlando vs Fort Lauderdale, which we originally flew into. We contacted Fox to find out about the possibility of dropping the car off in Orlando. Was told "yes, but there is a $17 drop off fee". That was fine with us, but I called a second time just to check and received the same information. We finalized our flight and drop off arrangements. Drove through the night (3hrs) to the Fox Orlando rental center only to find out that it actually was a $75 drop off fee and the shuttle only went to the Orlando International airport, not the Orlando Sanford airport which we were going to. At 5am we got a $90 cab ride to the airport in time for our early flight out. We made it to the funeral Thursday morning, just in time, but no help from Fox.
Somewhat positives: received the rental full on gasoline (unlike experience with Enterprise). Fox would be a reasonable price if very smart about avoiding the extra fees, and when I called customer service I did get a refund for part of the drop off fee (but not enough to make me want to rent from Fox again). I hate being so negative, but I hope this helps future renters. Wished I would have read all these poor reviews before renting.

We made all arrangements through Expedia. When arriving in Puerto Vallarta, Fox Car Rental was nowhere to be found among the other more reputable car rental agencies while exiting the airport. Upon making an inquiry was told to wait at the end of the drive and a shuttle would pick us up in 5 minutes. More than 30 minutes later a van came and brought us to the office located less than a 5 minute walk away. We were told we had to pay an additional $400 insurance for the two weeks. After reading many reviews others have experienced the same from $200-400 +.
There was a man sitting at the side and offered us $200 off the rental price (+ whale watching and breakfast, transportation to and from the location) if we partook in a presentation....Timeshare RIP OFF! I wanted my money back and so agreed, knowing full well I wouldn't fall for the scam (at an undisclosed location, the whole felt like a bad movie). Lost 1/2 a day of our trip, did not pay for our transportation and hoped throughout the 2 weeks we would get the $200 back. Not sure what kind of company allows these things to happen, inside scams, everyone getting their cut. The customer service reps were not friendly, very defensive, not very communicative and crude.
When returning the car completely unscathed (terrified the entire 2 weeks of what any damage would cost me with this company) they charged a ridiculous amount for the gas which was just shy of what we took it out with (going out to a gas station and back wasn't worth the stress, maze around the airport), said there was damage to the bottom of the car which I did not do and was not included in the initial inspection before taking the car out, the windshield inspected with a fine tooth comb (learning they look for the slightest mark and charge you for an entire windshield). I was terrified to see my credit card bill when arriving home.
I called their customer service...useless. Don't waste your time. Tell everyone you know not to rent from this company. Yes, they may be cheap (their claim to fame) but you get what you pay for.

I knew right away that they did not have a Mustang and requested to be placed in a Camaro for the same price. They honoured the agreement. I did have to return the car twice for minor mechanical issues but was promptly placed in another car. The company issued a $60 credit for the inconvenience. The $150 deposit appeared back on my credit card within a few days. I will definitely consider Fox Car Rental for my next vacation.

Worst car rental experience of my life and it hasn't even ended yet! I reserved a minivan for our 8 day trip from to California for the holidays after having read several articles mentioning Fox and their lower prices. Everything said to reserve early to get the best price, so I reserved at the beginning of June for our trip in December. It was an amazing price - $456 for 8 days was a huge savings over the other companies. I was so excited about getting a great deal.
When we got to the desk in San Francisco, we were informed that they did not have a van available, but we were offered a luxury sedan for the same price. Since we needed to be able to transport 6 people (4 adults and 2 adolescents) a sedan was not going to work. We were then told that we could try to see if the other rental companies had a van available and if they did, we would be reimbursed for the difference within 2 weeks. All we had to do was give them the off sell letter that we were given along with the invoice from the other company. Great customer service right? As long as we were getting the price that we got online in the end then we were ok with the "slight" inconvenience of paying over $2000 extra because we could only get the walk up price for the rental at Hertz. The gentleman at the desk at Fox acted as though it was a common practice and things always went smoothly with getting the refund.
After returning the van to the other company, we were going to bring the paperwork directly to the SFO location but the line would have taken at least 2 hours to wait and we had a plane to catch home so we decided to email the information as instructed in the letter. We got home late on the 28th of December and I emailed the off sell letter plus a copy of our invoice from Hertz in the morning on the 29th. Most companies that I email have some sort of system to notify you that your submission had been received, but I didn't receive anything so I was a bit concerned and thought that maybe I should fax the information as well. I tried faxing the information and the number never picked up. At this point I became extremely concerned. Contacting the online help people, I was told that the number I had on the letter was the same fax number that they had for the off sell department.
I tried calling the customer service phone number, but all it would do is ring. I then decided to write about my encounter on the company Facebook page and was contacted very quickly by Thanh **, the North Regional Manager, who said that the fax number on the form I was given was incorrect and said that he would forward my documentation and they would expedite my refund as soon as possible. That was on December 31st. It is now over a month later and I still do not have my refund.
After having to shame them on Facebook again on the 23rd of January to get them to respond, I was told by both Mr. ** and by Mike **, the Director of Contact Center Operations, that my check had been sent out the day before. Even given the weather here in the Eastern part of the country it should not take over a week for a piece of mail to arrive from California. I've actually gotten mail from other people in California that was sent after the check was supposedly mailed and received it in 3 days. Which leads me to the conclusion that I have been lied to and that the check was never mailed.
Please do yourself a favor and do NOT rent from these thieves and absolutely DO NOT put yourself through their horrible off sell procedure. You won't be able to get in touch with anyone to ask about the status of your money and if you do, they will only lie and say whatever they need to so that you leave them alone. This company should not be allowed to operate in the shady manner that they do. I had to learn the hard way that if it looks too good to be true, it probably is. Save yourself the headache down the road and pay the extra money to deal with companies that actually have some integrity.

On December 28, 2014 I booked a Toyota Camry for my trip to Phoenix, January 9th - January 17, 2015 from Fox Rent A Car in Phoenix. The total was $168.08 which I thought was fairly reasonable. I booked through Economy Bookings.Com and prepaid the full amount. Economy told me I would have to pay the local taxes and fees. After waiting a half hour or so in line, Michael, the Fox Rent A Car representative told me he did not have a Toyota Camry and would I be happy with a Chevrolet Malibu instead. I agreed.
However, he said they did not have a Malibu either and would I like to be upgraded. I replied I was not interested in upgrading. Michael said he would have to put us in a Chrysler 300 for no additional charge. I said; if that was all they had I would take it for the same price as the Camry-Malibu. He proceeded to write up the agreement. The total came to $454.94, but he said, and the invoice reflects also, that this amount was a deposit and I would be refunded upon returning the vehicle.
So, for nine days I enjoyed the car, but upon return, the gentleman who checked the car over said I would be entitled a full refund of $150.00 not $454.94, which he said would be applied to my credit card. To date I have not seen that amount credited either. So, what my credit card statement tells me; I paid Economy Bookings $168.08 and Fox 454.94 = $623.02 for a nine-day rental that I prepaid in full December 28, 2014. I called Fox and asked about this exorbitant charge and was told to take it up with Economy Booking because Fox feels this was fair. He also said that what the agent says is one thing, what is in writing is something else. I will never book through Economy Bookings or Fox again. I have rented cars for 20+ years and have never been cheated or treated like this before.

We arrived on the Fox shuttle bus from LAX relatively smoothly. From here our experience turned for the worse. Despite have made a online reservation, the line to the counter took an hour and 20 min. The lady behind the counter was helpful but said "the line was always like this at Fox." Once we paid for our car and had all paper work in hand, we were directed towards the pick up area. At this point we found a crowd over 50 people waiting for their vehicles. It was total chaos with no direction from anyone, one poor lady doing her best to direct people to their cars as they trickled in from the car wash. This process took an additional hour. Last summer our family rented a car for three days at Fox Car Rental in Burbank, Ca. to go from Los Angeles to Grand Canyon, Arizona. Yesterday we received a invoice from the Electronic Toll Service charging us $12.25 for a toll in the Bay area, San Francisco, CA, on the dates we were in Arizona. This is obviously an error because we never went to the Bay area.
I have been trying to resolve this issue on the phone with the Fox Customer Service, but after holding on the phone for 30 minutes yesterday and 30 minutes today, I was not able to get help or answers. When I finally got a representative on the phone he told me to call VMS (?) at 406-453-0705 - he gave me a wrong number. Because of the lack of help at the Fox Customer Service and the wrong information they gave me I'm beginning to feel scammed. I wonder if somebody else went through the same issue and was able to resolve it.

We called Fox Rent A Car road assistance number and we were told that a tow truck will come with another car in about 2 1/2 hours. We told the person on the line that we have an eleven month-old baby and a 7 years old with us. He said that if we could get transportation for my girlfriend and the children they will send a tow truck faster and that they will get us a replacement car.
The tow truck arrived. He picked up the car and drove to the Fox Rent A Car location. When we got there and I explained the situation the manager told me he could not replace the car unless my girlfriend was there. I explained him that the guy on customer service is the one who directed us to do it in the first place... He told me that we were "in violation of the contract". I said, “Your customer service guy told us to do this and now she has to leave the kids unattended so you can give us the vehicle...” I said to the guy, “Imagine us, 2 adults and 2 children on the middle of the run and all your company sent was a tow truck with no room to put 2 car seats...” This company is not family friendly at all, nor they solve the broken car issues to satisfaction.

I rented a car in the Phoenix airport and was charged a 150 deposit at the time of pickup. When I checked out they charged me 542 - which is the total of 392 + 150 deposit. When I finally got through to a customer service rep (their support center must have one person manning the phones, be prepared to call for hours and to be put on hold and to be hung up on). So instead of charging me 392 minus the 150 deposit, they charged my card 542 and said they would refund my deposit in 3-7 business days. They're making interest on the float and in the meantime I'm paying for that $150. It should be classed as a scam - won't be renting from there again.

If I had read these previously I would probably have gone to another company, but my experience was very positive with Fox in Fort Lauderdale. Indeed, I had to stand in a big line to get my car, but the line wasn't much bigger than the ones you see in other companies, and the price I was paying was great. The staff that dealt with me was friendly and polite and I was very satisfied with the car. The USD 150 deposit took almost one week to be refunded and I was concerned as reviews on the internet had been very critical with charging and refunds, but I received the refund after a week. The only point that could be improved is the customer service phone, as it's not that easy to get someone on the phone to talk to you.

First of all, I didn't pay much attention when Orbitz said they got me a car at such a great price of $129 for a week. My Bad!!! We get to LAX and I have to call them because they are not in the airport - you have to catch their shuttle. So we do and it's an old run down shuttle bus with a man who can't speak English. He takes us miles away from the airport it seems to this place and I guess a few us like the price. We go to the counter and I had put the card in my husband's name but I didn't bring his credit card just mine. He said he would have to run his credit and I said “No, use mine.” And so I then was the primary driver.
We were told there would not be an extra charge but there was. Told us that their gas was cheaper and it was but then they charged us extra taxes and fees than a gas station would have charged and then of course he scared us into insurance which you don't need if you have insurance. Anyway I just checked my credit card account and see where they charged us double of what I agreed to. Be careful of all their hidden costs. Don't add anything and get your own gas!!! It was a compact and they charged us $60.

I'm writing to warn anyone about using the "services" of this company. They may put your life in danger and run from the responsibility! We got a car with a technical error which led to a tire that exploded in the middle of the highway. We were lucky to guide the car to the side of the road, but it could easily have been a fatal accident. There was no spare tire in the trunk even though they're not allowed to rent out a car without it.
We called Fox-rent-a-car road service immediately after the accident, but it took them 4 hours to get to us even though our car was in a dangerous spot in a curve of the highway, which meant that the police had to be there to warn the other cars. Because of the delay, we were unable to get to our plane home in time and had to stay in the US for two more days. Afterwards we contacted their customer service and after several weeks, they wrote back that they were willing to cover the plane ticket and motel bill. We reluctantly accepted even though the accident was very expensive in phone bills and loss of earnings. We waited with patience for the check, but it never came. I wrote to the customer coordinator several times, but got no reply. So I called customer services again after several months and got in touch with the same coordinator who assured us that the money were coming and that she was sorry for not replying.
Since then I have been writing to the coordinator over and over again, but I never get any replies. Just now I called customer services again 4 months(!!!) after the first email. I got in touch with the most rude guy in customer service telling me that there is nothing in the system about a refund and nothing he will do about it. This is just a short version of the story and I could write many more details about how horrible this company is. I have never in my life been treated this badly before and I can only warn all you people out there from using this fraud company. Because of illness and anticipated bad weather, I returned the car on December 28 to the rental at Denver Airport. The person at the counter indicated that I would receive credit for the two days still on the rental agreement. When I did not see the refund on the credit card statement I called and was told to call the credit card company because they probably made a mistake. I called again and was told that Fox does not refund money for early returns.
I checked your website for rental policies and could not find reference to this no refund policy. Enterprise for example does only charge for actual days of car use. In addition the rental process was so slow that the people in line were distressed at the wait time and the apparent indifference of the employees to the wait time. When I finally got a car I was told that it was "outside", not finding it I had to return to the counter (people still waiting) and ask for assistance in finding the car. Terrible experience. Booked through Priceline and it turned out to be Fox Rent a Car which Is operated at Heathrow by Easirent. Firstly, Hotel Hoppa shuttle bus driver denied me a free trip despite having the rental confirmation and I had to pay 5 pounds to get to the Sheraton Skyline Hotel for the rental location. Renal office is unsigned and pretty gritty and dirty, a bit smelly, generally unfriendly. Big problem with my pre-booked CDW and all damage waiver, which was booked through Priceline at the time the rental was booked.
At the rental location Fox would not allow me to proceed with the rental until I purchased their own CDW as they required written proof of the alternative. I had emails from Priceline with my name and the policy purchased and separately the actual policy document, however this was not sufficient as they were requiring this all to be in one document with my name and address on it. Called the ins company and they were unable to send the requested document as they don't issue personalized policy docs. This was still not good enough for Fox. They wouldn't accept the MasterCard CDW either that is provided by the card when you purchase the rental with the card (for the same reason). So I ended up paying 17 pounds (GBP) per day additional for the CDW and damage waiver. So the whole thing took over an hour.
After the rental I called Fox customer services and they couldn't give me a straight answer. In fact the representative didn't know the difference between third party liability and CDW was and eventually cut me off. Have filed a complaint and refund request for the additional charges through Priceline. Have also subsequently cancelled another future Fox booking. Upon return of the car they identified a tiny nick in one of the tires and spent 10 mins debating whether they would charge me for a new tire, which I'm pleased to say eventually they didn't. I don't know who writes their customer satisfaction manual, but they should take a good look at it and make some serious changes. Will never recommend, will never use again.

This was, flat out, the worst car rental experience I have ever had. The airport shuttle was supposed to come every 10 minutes. We waited for more than 20. The shuttle was packed with luggage blocking the only door. We were sitting in the front so I told my wife to rush to the counter when the door opens and I would handle the luggage. She managed to be third in line. There were about 15 people in line in back of us.
Two nights later, we were on our way to a wedding when the GPS we had brought with us ran out of charge. Why? It turns out the cigarette lighter electrical outlet wasn't working and wasn't keeping the GPS charged. So we got lost and missed the beginning of the ceremony.
The next day we returned the car for a trade and saw an even longer line in the rental office. The rental office was chaotic but we managed to get a replacement without waiting in line. They gave us another small car instead of the size car we reserved. This one had a loose trunk rubber gasket. Fox is cheap. And there's a good reason. I will never use Fox again.

They had told me that I would be getting a refund as they charge for a deposit. My card was initially billed 657.41, which was shocking considering we got a Mazda 3... then the refund was issued a week later for 277.41, which brought the grand total of the rental to 380.12. The Priceline quote, and reason we chose this company was for 185.25. I called customer service and was told that I agreed to insurance and with the taxes the total was 380.12. SO, I was charged almost 200 dollars for a week's worth of insurance on a car I barely drove and did not damage in any way. I arrived at my appointed time and had a very difficult time with the clerk. Hidden agendas and hidden fees. Clerk has no clue what to do. Vehicle I got had a hole in the taillight, one door a different color than the rest of the vehicle. The radio was not programmed and was still in Japanese. From the moment I drove off, I could hear sounds in the front end of the vehicle. I had to put oil and water in the vehicle because the vehicle needed it. Every time I turned the car, lots of loud noises. They claimed the car was washed but I beg to differ.
Overall, the service was ridiculous. Then when I tried calling customer service to dispute the charge they charged to my account, they told me they have to give me the number to Jamaica, which anyone who knows long distance costs know that it costs $0.50 per minute to call. The Fox Car Rental office in Puerto Vallarta must be the worst in the world. We booked a van in January 2014 for the time period over the Christmas holiday in December. We arrived at the airport. Confirmations were received. Upon arrival in PVR, there was no one staffing the Fox kiosk in the airport. The agent at Thrifty Car Rental offered to call the off-site Fox rental office. Handed the phone, I was told by the Fox office that they did not have a van available for us, but would make an attempt to find one from another agency. The office manager stated that she'd be over in "five minutes" to pick us up at the airport.
After waiting 45 minutes, it was evident that no one was coming to pick us up. My wife walked to the Fox office. Arriving at the Fox office, she found the staff sitting around chatting. A reminder that our group, including an 18-month old, were waiting for pick-up at the airport was met with blank stares. The agent stated that they did not have a van and did not know when they would have a van. And, no, they would not pay our taxi fare to destination while they secured a van. And, no, they would not find a van from another car rental agency and secure it on our behalf.
An assistant was sent over to fetch the other six members of our group from the airport - in a FIAT 500! Comical if it weren't so frustrating at that point. A Jeep was subsequently sent. An hour later, the Fox office produced a small SUV and said that was all they could do. We took it. During the two weeks we were in PV, we never heard from the Fox office, never saw the van we rented, and were never again contacted. On the plus side, they did pro-rate the SUV charges, based on January 2014 rental rates. As many on this site have vowed, never again with this incompetent car rental company!

Never ever rent a car from Fox! Before renting a car from Fox beware of the following: You may get a faulty car that may break on you. If the car breaks down, you will be referred to a local repair shop [since they have very few locations mostly in airports and cannot offer you replacements] and may ruin your trip. You will be asked to drop the car off-the airport, take a shuttle that would not drop you - NOT at your terminal, but at a place, where you can take the "airport shuttle" to reach your terminal in Las Vegas. Fox will only reimburse you of the day that the car spent at the airport, and will not offer you any compensation for ruining your holiday.
Here goes the story as I've shared with their customer service: I had picked up one of your cars from SFO on Dec 24th and returned it in Las Vegas on January 1st. In the middle of my trip, I had a brake problem [the car trembled and started to lose control when I pressed the brakes], and had to leave the car at the repair shop in Santa Barbara that you've referred to, from 10am to 5pm on 29th. The shop found multiple faults [like corrosion on the positive cable end, front tire rip and warped front rotors] on the car, and had to replace "2 front rotors, 1 brake pad".
This almost full-day problem has ruined a day of my trip and I've expressed my complaint as I returned it in Las Vegas and asked for compensation. The person who dealt with my case, said he was sorry and told me that he would take "two-days off" of my bill. I said, "that's fine," and rushed to catch the shuttle to the airport where my kids were waiting me for. Only after I've left, I realized that it was not "two-days off" in the real sense, since the $50 reduction is merely the one day worth of car+liability for the day that it spent at the repair shop. I've immediately called the customer service, but they referred me to the Billing department, and suggest to call on Jan 2nd. I've tried calling Billing dept on Friday with no luck and finally reached them today. The person at the billing department told me that it was 1 day compensation, and that was it, before hanging up on me.
Documents clearly show that you've handed me a faulty car, which not only put my family at risk, but also ruined a whole day of my trip. Deducting the one-day cost of the car merely takes to the repair time off my bill, and has no compensation for the trouble that you've caused. Renting, not properly maintained cars, to customers and letting them handle the repairs on their own times, may sound like good way to cut costs at the expense of your customers' time, without bothering to at least provide some sort of a compensation to acknowledge your fault. I would like you to know that I will never be using your service in the future but will also make every effort to publicize this incident with the public in every way and warn them against similar experiences.

We rented a car on X-mas eve in Miami. When we got to the car rental office a few minutes before midnight, it was packed with one person working the counter. It was late, our kids were tired but we had to stand in line for an hour and a half. It was disappointing, I called the main office only to be told that "we know, we tried to reach all the supervisors 3 times but no one picks up." This is coming from a national company! But that was only the beginning of the horror. We finally get to the desk to rent. I reserved a standard car as we have 2 kids and luggage. We were advised that all cars from that class were already rented and all they had were the Chevy Camaro. The reservation agent readily conceded that there is no way we will fit in the car but we have to take it as there is nothing else left. We were further explained that reservation is NOT a guarantee of anything and either we take the car or else... It's first come first serve.
Meanwhile, while waiting in line I walked around and I knew that there was at least one car in the back that was the size we needed. When requested that car we were told that we did NOT RESERVE THAT CAR and it was slated for someone else WHO RESERVED IT. At that point both I and my wife felt totally insulted... "FIRST COME FIRST SERVE" in one breath and "YOU DID NOT RESERVE IT" in the next. It was after 1:30am on Christmas day, we were angry and made it clear we are not budging. Finally after 20 minutes of bickering, miraculously another car appeared that would fit us. It is painful to think that had we not caused a scene we would have been screwed!!!!
In a few days we tried to call the main office and talk to a supervisor. Never got thru. Supervisor is an answering machine and never a live person.. We didn't feel like leaving a message and tried a number of times to get through. No such luck. Do they think we will come back to Fox to rent again? NOT A CHANCE. Luckily the car we got was totally adequate.

When you rent a car and it's dark and rainy and the car looks black to you and the next day it's green and you still point out 4 obvious imperfections that were not included on the contract, does that company still have any credibility on their self-inspections of their cars. Fox rental company rented me a car. I pointed out that the car had 2 broken hub caps and a key mark down 2 doors and a quarter panel dent that they had to add to my contract. These were so obvious that I saw them at night in the rain. But then I return the car during the day and they say I owe the $275 for repairs to the paint for swirl marks that are obviously from them cleaning their car. This was in Florida where there is bugs and sand everywhere. They neglect to admit it could of been them cleaning the car and their poor inspections that could of caused this whole problem. Instead the manager would rather lie to me and insult my intelligence by telling me they don't wash or buff their cars. That they only rinse them with water and let them air dry. Here take a look. What do you think?

We got what seemed to be a great deal on a compact car in San Francisco, but reality was far different. A completely stripped down Nissan Versa awaited us in the garage, and it was filthy both inside and out. The car also drove poorly, hesitating whenever the gas pedal was depressed. Our experience with other car rental companies, while varied, has never been as crappy as with this one. Rest assured, we will pay more rather than ever rent from Fox again.

Arrived in Fort Lauderdale to a filthy, run-down hovel. HUGE line of people picking up cars for the holiday week, only three slots behind the counter. No eye contact, no desire to move things along. Agent seemed angry with us for declining their exorbitant insurance fee. Finally our paperwork was done and we were sent out to the lot - no one there to tell us where to find our car. Brought us out a Ford Fusion after an hour and a half wait. Loaded up our luggage and proceeded to the long line of cars waiting to exit their lot... yes, another line for a scary-looking dude in the checkout booth to check the paperwork and let us out - at least 10 minutes per car if not 20. Finally it's our turn. They won't release our car b/c apparently it's overdue for an oil change.
They don't tell us anything... we wait about 20 minutes and finally lose our cool..."Will someone PLEASE tell us what's going on!?" We are given another car and off we go. No apologies, no explanation, no eye contact. A total "don't give a damn" attitude which was infuriating. Returning the car at 3 am a week later, we go to the gate that the sign directed us to and no one was there to open it. An employee walked across the parking lot, looked right at us, and walked away. Luckily the shuttle bus driver was arriving and opened it b/c he had to get in himself. With a shred of hope, we were pleased there was only one person in line. It was an angry father trying to extend their rental for one more day in person (he'd been told he needed to do it in person).
Guess what? The "in person" person told him "no walkups" and that the price was double what he'd been quoted. He asked to call customer service - got an answering machine. No manager, nothing. He was screwed. I'm sure I'm forgetting numerous other delightful things - but every customer in line that we saw hated this place. Never again. When I arrived at my destination 17 miles away, I called to try and get help and asked if I could get another car that was not in need of repair. That was when the excuses started that are way too lengthy to list here. The hold time for the numerous phone calls (all directed to their CO), which were never channeled to the rental office, was over an hour. One, just one, of the excuses is that "this is a busy time of year." Really? You didn't know that Christmas was on the 25th this year? Hidden optional insurance fees that I did not see online (if you have insurance check with them first, but do not get influenced by the Fox employee to take Fox insurance it's a scam). Had to write down and mark on their car damage form over 12 scratches, dents etc... (also took pictures). Car windows not cleaned, had to clean them myself, could not see out the rear window. Very loud front end noise, wasn't tires, seemed to be either wheel bearing or cv joint. Upon return I was questioned about several of the scratches and dents that I already documented and had pictures of. Very unprofessional employees.
The Fox employee jocking the returned cars upon my return floored one car to move it and put several customers at risk of injury (including my wife). The manager was right there and just made the comment that "he must be having a bad day." The rental was returned with no incident, however in a week I received two (2) toll bills from different companies indicating that I went through a toll road with the car rental. I didn't want to have my name flagged by any DMV, so I paid the tolls (which totaled $69.40, so far).
I called FOX and spoke with a female customer service agent and explained my situation. All she could reply was, "It's the customer's responsibility." I then inquired if FOX program their navigation systems to avoid tolls and she said, "no we can't do that." Fox Rent-a-Car would not be worth the trouble even if the rate was a dollar a day. First of all, at Las Vegas, you have to catch a SECOND shuttle to get to the rental counter so it is inconvenient if you're arriving late at night. I was quoted a certain rate from a third party booking site. I expect to pay that rate, unless informed otherwise. Secondly, the workers are painfully slow compared to any of the other major car rental companies. Be prepared to wait a LONG time. Thirdly, Fox tacked on a LORLC charge on top of my daily rate (a late OR early charge) when returning the car because I rented the car longer than the original contract, even though I paid the daily rate for the correct number the days. This LORLC charge was never mentioned nor printed under the "Estimated Total Time & Mileage" section of the Rental Agreement. Then fourth, it took me almost two weeks to talk to a live person in the billing department. You can use the "contact us" button on their website, but no one will contact you. If you're successful in getting a live person on the phone, they'll take down your name and number and tell you that someone will call, but no one will return your call.
Today, I was shocked when someone actually picked up the phone on my first try of the day. This person explained that if your pick up or return date differs from the original reservation in any way, you will be charged a LORLC charge PER DAY. This will be IN ADDITION to the normal daily rate that you're already paying. And they won't mention this to you when you pick up the car. I picked up my car 3 days early. They had inventory available. My Rental Agreement clearly stated the daily rate for all the days I had the car. But when I returned the car I was charged the LORLC (think "change fee") in addition. Fox Car Rental is nickel-and-diming customers just like the airlines. I do not recommend Fox Car Rental at all. Stick with the national brands. The national brands may be slow, but Fox is even slower, more inconvenient, not customer service accessible, and sneakier in the way they do business.

When at the pick-up counter, I was asked which vehicle I would like. The two options that I was given were: a Toyota Camry or a Dodge Charger. Since I had never driven a Charger and thought that it would be fun to try a different car, I selected that vehicle. When she reviewed the contract with me prior to signing, it reflected a higher total. She pointed this out to me and said that it was higher because of a $150.00 deposit that would be refunded when the vehicle was returned. Accepting her explanation for the difference, I initialed and signed the agreement.
When I returned the vehicle and received the final receipt, I calculated that total minus the $150.00 deposit and saw that the balance was higher than the agreed-upon amount. The attendant then informed me that the Charger was a "Premium" Full-size that carried an additional charge of $12.25 per day. When I argued with the attendant that I was never told about the price difference, she told me that, since I initialed and signed the agreement, there was nothing that she could do about it. I then asked her, "Is this really that way that Fox does business?" Also their rental agreement stated that Airport/Car Rental location transit was free with a bus service. It was only free to the Rental location. I had to pay pounds 5 to get back to the airport. I put in a customer complaint at their website on Aug 26 & got no response. Then I called their customer service yesterday Sept 2nd and spoke with Bianca. She told me that I had to call a number in UK. I did not agree that I should have to call UK, since my rental booking was with them. I asked to speak with a manager and was told none is available.

Fox Rent A Car in Orlando Florida quote us a price of three hundred dollars. When we got there the car we reserved, came with no trunk to put our suitcases, not even one suitcase could fit in the trunk. Being that we were all tired from our plane being delayed and it was already late, we had no choice but to upgrade at their price of almost $800. Not happy with their bait & switch tactics. After returning their car, came back home, two weeks later they charged our credit card $15 toll charges, when we paid all tolls our self.

To FOX Rent a Car, reservation is a piece of **. In my case, FOX acted like a team of half educated gangsters, who picked up a signboard with letters "Promise is Promise" and held it high but actually didn't understand what it means in business world. I have been working in San Jose since 2011. On 7/21/2014, I made a reservation (through RentalCars.com) with FOX Rent a Car for renting a Convertible for two days for a planned vacation. I thought I found a great deal, better than the best one offered by Costco Travel (in price wise), which was recommended by a friend who had bad experience with FOX. My friend warned me: never do business with FOX. I ignored the warning and now I am regretted for not listening.
When I went to FOX to pick up my reserved convertible at San Jose International Airport, I was told that all convertibles are gone (I found out later that the two young college girls who queued just in front of me have taken the last convertible, might be upgraded to due to their charm). The representative threw back my reservation without any remedy or apology. I could clear sense that he was saying: "This is not my problem. Just go to hell with no convertible. I don't care where you get this reservation."
This is the first time for me to experience in America that a reservation can be just a piece of **. I didn't argue as I usually did in business transactions, because it happened that the representatives are not white. Luckily when I was very anxious and frustrated, one representative was willing to help and went around checking with other companies. Luckily enough, there was one convertible left in Enterprise, but the price would be 200% more. I had no choice but took it. However, if I reserved the convertible from Enterprise through Costco Travel, the price would be much cheaper. For current management of (or the particular one representative at) FOX, reservation can be a piece of **. Folks, watch out for your wallet!

Just like all rental car companies they want you to upgrade. So no biggie. But they have your credit card info. And something just did seem right when I left with the car. So we went to drop off the car - the guy said the tank was not full. We just put gas in it. A full tank. We got charged 12.00 for gas… Which was not true. Then we also had charged 15.00 for tolls 10 days later after we dropped off the car. We paid cash for our tolls. And only used 5.00 for tolls paid cash for. Never again.

I reserved a car months ahead of our trip with Fox Car Rental and even received a follow up email from them the day before we landed at the airport concerning the rental. When I arrived at the rental counter, I was informed that my reservation had been canceled and there were no car available. I asked who canceled the reservation and was told it was me, but they could not prove it other than to show me my name and the time which was while I was on the flight into the city. I contacted customer service at Fox Car Rental 4 different times and their customer service was a huge joke. They were rude, not helpful at all, and made the whole thing my problem. If you are looking to rent a car from Fox Car Rental, walk, ride a horse, take a taxi, or go with another car rental agency before you do it. If you rent from Fox, you will regret it.

This rent car office is worst company for rent car. I rented a car from them online for my Miami trip and they charge me $86 for 3 days. Once I arrived to Miami I had to get taxi to go their office (they said airport office but it is not in airport). Then in office they ask me if I like to buy $19 insurance to cover any problem for car. I asked them 3 times that is it just one time payment $19 and they said yes. Then they print out contract and they just ask me to sign in fast because the other customers are waiting and they did not let me see the contract. Finally I figure out that they charge me every day $19 more. I called customer service and I report the problem but customer service said I have to pay because I sign the contract. They even talk very rude to me and they disconnected the phone. It is my email **. I can show you all document that how they cheat to me.

Rented a compact car in San Francisco airport because it was the cheapest. Drove to Yosemite, along highway 1 to Santa Monica and returned the car to LAX airport after 8 days. No problem, we enjoyed the road and took over thousand pictures. Bad thing happened at the last minute. When we returned the car and rushed so my younger daughter forgot the digital camera on the back seat. We found it out after they dropped us to LAX airport. Immediately called and took 30 mins to have someone to talk to and immediately I was transferred to an answer machine. I left message and this was Saturday 8/16/14. Sunday a guy called me and said nobody turned in the missing camera and said the car went out immediately and someone is renting it. (I am a little suspicious about that as when I returned the car it was later afternoon and there were many cars ahead of me). He said he called and left a message to the other driver who is driving it. Well, that is the end of it! I called Monday and left message and no call back.
I can afford the camera but a thousand beautiful pictures....memories. I think someone cleaned the car just grabbed it... What a pity! Warning: they are cheaper and for a reason. 1. Takes forever to get someone online when you call. 2. When return the car better have three hours ahead as they don't have enough shuttle to run to the airport. I would not recommend to use them at all. Lesson learned... Poor customer service. Not honest employee....

We rented a car (via Travelocity) with Fox at SEA-TAC for our vacation on the San Juan islands on August 7. Immediately upon approaching the representative to give our reservation confirmation number, she tried to upsell us to a convertible. Not exactly a friendly greeting. When we declined, she then tried to convince us that we wanted a Ford Mustang instead of the economy/compact class we had selected online. When we said we wanted a more fuel-efficient car, she lied to us, alleging that the Mustang would have the same gas mileage. She then continued to lie, saying that if we wanted a economy/compact car we would have to wait because there weren't any ready. When we insisted, suddenly there was a Chevy Spark available. No explanations of the contract or added fees/insurance was given, aside from trying to sell us some kind of additional collision/liability insurance, which we declined. We were then rushed through the rest of the rental process and sent down to get our car. End of episode 1.
Episode 2: After that bit of unprofessional customer "service", we went to get our car. The attendant vaguely pointed out which car was ours, without bothering to get out of her chair, and we walked past a half-dozen of their other Chevy Sparks (which, presumably, weren't "ready" - see above) to ours. So far, so good. Entering the car for the first time was quite a shock - the interior smelled so bad we had to roll all the windows down to keep from getting sick, and even that did not quite do the trick. But we figured the smell would go away soon, and we were on a fairly tight schedule, so we sat with it. Wrong assessment.
This noxious smell persisted throughout our trip (lasting over a week), and needless to say, was a rather unwelcome contrast to the natural outdoor experience we were hoping to have. Obviously some kind of industrial-strength desiccant cleaning chemicals had been used in it, and were still painfully present. The air in the car, thick with these obvious toxins, dried our throats quite painfully and gave us headaches whenever we drove. I can't possibly exaggerate the stench of this car. It was like a slap in the face every time we opened the door to get in, and really made every minute of the driving awful - and I'm pretty accustomed to smelly cars. We left the windows rolled down every chance we could, including overnight at our cabin, to try to dissipate it, but it remained impossible to ignore.
Also, about 75 miles into our journey, the tire pressure warning light comes on - one of the rear tires was almost twenty pounds low, as we discovered at the service station. Guess this car hadn't been "ready" after all. Maybe the fact that half of the lug-nut covers were missing and the front license plate was held on with zip-ties should have tipped us off.
Episode 3: Upon returning the car, I was stuck with a lot of fees and charges that had not been mentioned before signing the contract (as the representative seemed to be much more focused on renting us a car that we did not want, than discussing the particulars of the rental) - INCLUDING the insurance that we had explicitly declined. At this point, I am anticipating filing a formal complaint with the company regarding this, along with the rest of the issues.

On August 10, I arrived at Fox Rental Car to return a car. When I arrived I was waiting for thirty minutes in the return line next to the car I had rented. I was approached by a man named Assad who started yelling at me in my face for me to move the car. I stated to him that the employee is standing next to me ready to move the car. I look at the employee, the employee look at me and said I’m here to move the car he said to Assad. Assad "no, let her move the car." The employee moved the car. Assad got very upset, refused to check me in, told me to get out here and go find someone else to check me in.
I found an employee by the name of Kimberly to check me in. Assad came running over started yelling at me and Kimberly. Assad refused to leave us alone. He kept running back and forth yelling at me and Kimberly. Informed Assad to backup out my face and to leave me alone. He then got into Kimberly face. She told him to move back, he refused. I went into the office to talk to a manager, he said he would talk to him. I ask for corporate phone number. I have been calling Trent ** for two days, no response. Horrible Experience.
