I was charged an extra day on my vehicle because the guy at the desk completely dismissed me. He continued on with his conversation and didn't even ask about the car or if I had any questions. Next day I find out he didn't check in the car until the following morning. So I was charged another day because I wasn't important. Stick to the car rentals we all are used to.

We rented a car through E-Z Car Rental Company in Denver, Co. We got our weekly rate on their website. When we got to E-Z Car Rental Company in Denver we were told that they didn't have any cars except for a van, even though there were numerous cars in the lot. We took the van because it was really late. We were there because my brother in law passed away suddenly over Thanksgiving. We had the van for a week with no problems.

Upon returning the car there wasn't anyone checking in the cars so I went in. Lady behind the counter printed out my contract and the price had tripled. Our contract stated our weekly rate @ $120.45. The contract they printed out stated we owed $291.06. We were shocked. She said she couldn't do anything about it and said to come back the next day to speak with a manager or call the 1-800 number on the contract. Well we tried never reaching a human being. I have contacted my credit card company to dispute this fraudulent charges.

Please be advised that your solution to this report of a car that has issues with the trunk opening while driving, no headlights warning sign, on/off tire problems is not going to be settled with a 20 percent discount on my next rental and charging me for e-z toll that was not asked for or never used because of this car that was rented to me. I didn't authorize or initial it on my contract. I feel I owe some of this bill but not the full amount because of the problem with this car. The glue that was on the trunk was from the last customer that had this car. That is how they kept it closed - by taping it.

I find it hard to believe they didn't complain as well someone took the tape off. The car was not cleaned before I got it and I did see the glue on the trunk. I marked it on my inspection slip but was clueless at that time that it was from tape to hold the trunk shut. Who is responsible for making sure that cars are cleaned and safe for customers. I have notified my bank of this issue. You rented me a dangerous car. I tried to call you, but my call was put on hold then next I was cut off. I have called from Canada twice and your solution today is as unexceptionable as renting me a dangerous car.

We rented a car from E-Z and it was dirty but being in a hurry we got on the road from the Denver Airport Rental Location. On the way to our destination we notice a stress fracture in the front windshield. We call that location and the Office Manager said to put her name and circle the windshield on the check out sheet and if there was a problem in the future just get them to call her. Well there was a problem that we fought for 7 months and she said she didn't know anything about it.

Our mistake is we should have turned around and brought the car back. It was finally dropped.

The other mistake we have made is rented from them again and there was a old faulty repair on the windshield that we didn't notice, and again not learning from our mistake the car was dirty again, and of course being ignorant to repairs and the angle we inspected the car, we didn't see it again. We took it to a professional windshield place to make sure it was an old repair and have not yet heard for E-Z. I held for an hour and 5 mins and got disconnected from their customer service line and Risk Management has still failed to call us back. We will see where this goes. This is how rental car places make money. The customers does the checkout list and E-Z in hope that the customer won't find a repair, blame the customer and gets them to pay for it.

On October 24, I arrived at E-Z Rent-A-Car to pick up the compact car that I had reserved at 6:15 AM over a week in advance through their website directly. I would be retiring the car by 10:30 AM on October 29. Although there wasn't a single customer at the front desk, and I even had to call on a phone to speak with an employee, my car was not ready upon arrival. They informed me that since it wasn't ready they would be upgrading us to a convertible at the same price. Although the gas mileage was not as good, we decided we would accept it since we reserved the car at this time for a reason and could not wait any longer. I made sure to thoroughly read over the policies outlined on the website so we would not run into any surprises upon picking up our rental. The website states that anyone between the ages of 21-24 will pay a $20 per day underage fee.

The contract we received said $25 per day which added up to an additional $30 charge. I informed the employee of this and he continued to tell me that he has no authority over what fee I am charged and cannot make any changes to the contract. I decided that once I arrived home I would contact E-Z Rent-A-Car and have them adjust the discrepancy for me. We made it out to the car, and I could not believe the condition of the car that we were receiving. The scratches were covering the entire car's perimeter. I couldn't even possibly begin to write down every dent or scratch on the damage liability form. I ended up marking nearly every single block of the car I could on our form. The cars interior was even peeling on the passenger side door! We were extremely embarrassed to be driving this around. Sad to say, we felt as if we had been taken advantage of by the employee saying this was an upgrade from what we actually rented.

Unfortunately for us, on our way back to our hotel, we accidentally drove through an E-Z Pass toll road. We knew that we would be charged a $25 administration fee for this plus the cost of the toll as stated in the contract and expected this to show up as a charge to our card within the next month. When you call E-Z Rent-A-Car's customer service line it offers the suggestion of sending them an email or leaving a voicemail to get in contact with someone. I wanted to clear up the overcharge for the underage fee and discuss my negative experience with someone. I sent my first email to them on November 9 and didn't receive a response. I sent my second email to them on November 24 and received an email the following day asking for a contract number. I emailed them my info three days later on November 28. By December 8, I still had not received an email back.

I was charged $27.50 to my credit card for what I thought was my missed toll on November 23, which I fully expected and anticipated from Advantage Rent-A-Car Tolls. I then received a second charge on December 5 in the amount of $91.43. I had no idea what this could be. On December 7, I called to receive an emailed copy of my invoice to see what my final charges were for. I noticed that I had toll charges of $16.43 and an administrative fee of $75. I was extremely confused because I only remembered going through one toll. I then called the number listed on my contract under the tolls heading to get a copy of all my toll violations, and I didn't even get my sentence out before the representative began talking over me that she could not help me and I would need to contact customer service. Since customer service was closed, I called them the following morning.

Cynthia answered the phone, and I spoke with her regarding the underage fee. She agreed that I was overcharged and said she would be processing the refund I was due. I informed her that I had some unexpected charges and would like a copy of my toll violations. She emailed them to me and informed me that there were four toll violations, and it looks like they waived one of the administrative fees for myself as well. Once I received my email, I noticed that for two of the missed toll charges on October 29, I was no longer in possession of the vehicle. I also noticed that I had somehow accidentally missed another toll that I was not aware of. I called customer service back again to have them remove the charges that did not belong to me. I was then informed that the number I was previously told to call, does not handle toll charges. I was beginning to get extremely upset at this point and felt as if I was getting the runaround.

Each time I had to call a different department I was waiting on hold for over twenty minutes. I called the toll department and the representative researched my account for me. He informed me that they had an error in their system and I was accidentally charged for two tolls and one administrative fee that did not belong to me, and that's what some of the charge was for on December 7. I let him know this didn't add up since I was charged a total of $118.93 and my total balance due was actually $58.59. He continued to tell me that I was never charged $27.50 for any missed tolls. I let him know that there has already been so many glitches in their system, that I'm sure he's wrong. Sure enough, he found that they had yet another error in their system and accidentally double charged me in error on November 24. He said I would be refunded the $27.50, but it would take around three weeks for this refund to process.

I told him that this experience has been a nightmare from the start and asked if I could receive a $25 waived administrative fee just like they had originally done when they thought I had four missed tolls. This representative informed me to call back customer service since he cannot handle this. I now had to call back customer service for the third time in one day and informed the representative whose name I believe may be Linda or Laura of what happened. I was beyond aggravated and upset at this point of all the accidental overcharges I received and the hassle I had to go through to receive the money back that I was rightfully due. She automatically told me that they are refunding the charges of what they owed me and she is refusing to do anything further. I continued to question and let her know how aggravated I was with the situation and after all of this the company should do something as a convenience to me.

They were willing to waive a single fee when they were charging me for another customers bill, but not for my own. I could not remember the person's name I spoke with at the time, which I now know is Cynthia based on the email she sent me. Since I couldn't recall the name she said rudely, "Then, I don't know what to tell you." I let her know I now have money tied up for over a month from an error on their part. She said this is not the company's fault, as this is a third party. I did not give my credit card information to anybody except E-Z Rent-A-Car and and toll violation department had previously stated it was an error in E-Z's system. I let her know this and she just told me again that she's not refunding anything and that's the way it will stay. She attempted to say that I was also already given a discount of $8.50, however, that was a promotion that I received online when booking that anyone is entitled to.

I did ask to speak to a manager however, she did say that's who she was. She said this is in my contract, and that's how it will stay. After a bit more back and forth, she said very rudely that she'd send me a 10% off coupon. I let her know that I will never be doing business with this company again. She rudely stated, "Then this conversation is finished." and promptly hung the phone up on me. Not once did anyone acknowledge all the mistakes that the company made, offer to do anything for me as a customer for this horrendous experience, or even utter the words, "I'm sorry." I have now been overcharged $30 for the underage fee and $60.34 for tolls that belonged to another customer, $30 of which will take over a month to refund. This comes out to $90.34 of supposed accidental errors in the system and the company is refusing to waive any fees at all as a courtesy and was stated that had already been waived.

I was pleased with service I received for the most part. I did on my own have an issue. I was all packed up and ready to head back to the airport and put my luggage in trunk and closed trunk to realize immediately after I had left keys in trunk on top of my luggage. Luckily I had left a 3-hour window before my flight was leaving as I wanted to get lunch at airport for myself and 7 year old daughter. I spent 45 minutes on phone trying to get a hold of support from car rental but just kept getting bumped from phone support agent to line going dormant. I then called local tow company who told me they would be happy to assist if I had rental agreement..which was in trunk of car with luggage. They said they could not enter vehicle without it.

I then tracked down local locksmith company who saved the day once I said I would pay $100 if they showed up in 15 minutes or less. I made my flight by the skin of my teeth. I explained to agent upon dropping off car and her explanation for not getting customer support during the ordeal was the front desk was usually busy...I paid $465.00 US for a 8 day mid-range rental and was left hanging when I needed assistance. I know it was my bad but I expected some sort of support during this ordeal and I was out of pocket and left to deal with it all with support from rental company.

Usually in situations such as these, our customer support line would direct you to a locksmith company as we do not usually have spare keys on hand. I have never ever experienced such poor service, disrespect and honestly the entire rental experience was as if I had been dropped down a rabbit hole! This "car rental" company and I use that term loosely operates the complete opposite of any other car rental company in that SeaTac rental center. You reserve a car on Priceline or other sites with unlimited mileage and get told "oh wait because you live in Washington you have only 150 miles a day" and proudly tells you they are the only one in the building that does this... What?!?! It escalates from there. $200 deposit held but you must read the fine print. They have up until 21 days to refund but... Oh wait. When you return the car NOWHERE on the receipt will it show it is refunded. Response "you just have to keep checking your account... What?!?!

Then getting the car you head down to a rude girl who swears at you and treats you like you are a lowlife as you stand there in your business suit weary after a week of travel. Directs you to a car which you must sign for your keys and that the car shows no damage "before" you see your car... What?!?! Then that car is filthy inside smelling like cigarettes. (I am allergic.) And when I told them I couldn't rent a car with smoke was informed only car available was a car that honestly looked like it was someone's personal car, a full-size car with velour seats and dirty windows and car mats. By this time I was creeped out, felt dirty, disrespected and angry. The "supervisor" offered no apologies just said, "I can refund you." Unbelievable!!!

Got my contract voided but they still left $10.13 on it. She said, "for taxes but don't worry it won't charge." Honestly worth $10.13 to get away from these people! I then went upstairs to the "real car companies". Upon hearing my story, THEY apologized for the disgusting service E-Z Car Rental had given me and said they were constantly fielding complaints about E-Z! One counter of a reputable rental company matched their price for all my distress... I will do my best to go back to them! I won't mention who to taint them in any way but will be writing that company an entirely different review! Do not ever rent from E-Z Car Rental. You will get exactly what you paid for unfortunately. If I could I would give them negative stars!

I rented a vehicle for a business trip to Atlanta, GA last month. The car was a Chevy Impala, and as usual I did a walk around of the vehicle in a dimly lit parking garage, finding nothing glaringly obvious or out of the ordinary. I had possession of the vehicle for 2 days. When I returned the lot attendant was checking the vehicle in and pointed at the left rear tail light, saying it was damaged because it was sticking out from the rear quarter panel approximately 1/8 of an inch. I laughed because there was obviously no damage to the paint surrounding the taillight or the light itself.

I sincerely thought she was joking, but then she advised me she was filling out a damage report. I could not believe it, it was obviously not anything I did. So I took pictures of the "damage" and filled out her paperwork so I could catch my flight. I kind of blew the whole thing off because any mechanic who is qualified would look at the light and recognize how ridiculous the claim was. Well today I received a bill for $700, for a taillight. It is a frivolous claim, one that I intend to get overturned.

We used E-Z when we went to Last Vegas, and it was excellent! There were no snafus. We got lucky because our airline had booked the car for us. It didn't really say who it was booked with, and when we got to the car rental place, the first lady we asked was E-Z and she says, "Oh, that's us." She says, "Oh, we have their reservations." It would have been nicer if they had a sign that says our car is with E-Z because there are about 10 different car companies there. But we happened to ask the right one so we were in the right place. After that, everything was perfect. We got to pick the car we want. It was easier than I thought.

On November 5, 2015 we reserved a 7 passenger vehicle for an estimated price of $131 through CarRentals.com. The pick-up was for Thanksgiving day with a return the following day. About 3-4 days prior to the scheduled pick-up we called E-Z to confirm the reservation, which they did. On November 25, 2015, one day prior to pick-up we received a confirmation e-mail (Confirmation #**).

We arrived at the E-Z/Allied rental office before 10:00 a.m. on Thanksgiving day. I gave the agent a copy of the last confirmation, and after about 5 minutes he informed us that they did not have that type of vehicle available. His only offer was to rent us 2 separate vehicles. The purpose of renting a 7 passenger vehicle was so that all of us could make the trip together. We refused the "offer" and asked what he, the agent, was going to do. He told us he would give us the names of some other car rental agencies; not even offering to make the calls himself.

This is an obvious example of "bait-and-switch". We ended up finding a vehicle at Budget, for approximately $100 more than the price quoted by E-Z, but the people at Budget/Avis could not have been nicer and more obliging. I am submitting my complaint to the Commonwealth department of ConsumerAffairs and posting a "RENTER BEWARE" on as many blogs and complaint sites as I can locate. This is the type of incident that wrecks our tourism image in Puerto Rico. Not everyone mistreats tourists (and locals) as poorly as E-Z/Allied.

We rented a car from E-Z at the Orlando airport between 10/21 and 10/25. I have used the location in DFW without incident several times. I declined their insurance and was sent to another terminal to pick up my vehicle. I didn't think too much of it at the time, since I was getting a minivan and figured they may have a low inventory. It was parked by itself, but, again, I thought little of it. I, admittedly, glanced it over, though it was in a dimly lit garage. I didn't note any damage. Four days later, as I pull up to return it, the man says, "I'm going to have to write up the bumper is falling off..." I thought he was joking (it had been less than a few seconds), until I realized he wasn't.

I immediately asked for a manager, that backed him up, assured me it was on me, since the previous return had not noted damage and neither had my outgoing slip. I immediately started snapping pictures and called my insurance. They kept insisting I leave, but I refused until I was satisfied with my insurance company that I had done all I needed to do. When I got home and googled them, something I had not done since I had had several other good experiences, I noticed that they were under investigation for similar things. I have contacted the Florida attorney general's office, the Florida dept of agriculture (which, oddly, regulates rental companies) and the Florida insurance commissioner (which didn't seem to be able to do anything from a regulatory standpoint).

I will also be filing with the BBB. Our insurance company says this is becoming an increasingly popular scam from rental car companies, but there does not seem to be a whole lot of recourse. I am hoping that changes. Seeing this occurring at several nationwide locations makes me wonder if this could be looked into at a federal level.

Great experience from E-Z Rent-A-Car. I had an out-of-town trip and I needed transportation. I did my reservation online, it was quick and simple. On the day of the pick-up, I got there 15 minutes early. I had trouble walking then because I had a boot on one of my feet that is fractured. When I went to pick up the car, the people in the booth where you go to pick up the car saw that I was having so much trouble. That was really nice. I dropped the car off like a day early because that was more convenient for me and it was great. They didn’t say anything.

The reason I wasn't impressed was due to the check in process. The attendant was rude and very pushy for insurance. I explained I already had coverage through the credit card and he said it's secondary and they don't accept that. I explained that it wasn't secondary, it was PRIMARY and still he said no. In either case, he had me call Geico to verify that I had insurance on my personal car before renting.

I get that they want to cover themselves, sure, but the whole pushy buy the insurance thing is too much. In addition it's very inconvenient to spend an extra 10 minutes waiting for me to call and verify my insurance with Geico and being told they don't accept credit card rental car insurances, even when my card offers primary (not secondary) insurances. The bigger rental agencies have no problem doing so and sometimes their rental costs are cheaper. This boiled down to having a cheaper rental fee, this time, vs the other companies, but I think next time I'll stick with less hassle and headaches and go back to bigger companies. I felt like I was being talked down to, and the insurance "up sell" I can do without. Car was decent. Nothing fancy.

Kudos to David for his hard work in searching for a replacement.

It was a huge scratch and I was concerned that we could be held liable so I identified it, filled out and signed the form, and asked the attendant if it was OK. She assured me that it was fine. Given the size of the scratch we decided to take pictures with a date stamp. We returned the car on the 27th of October. At the time of check-in I was assured that everything was fine. Lo and behold my surprise when I received an email today for a TOTAL DUE of $1,071.78. I immediately called Advantage and was told everything was fine and there was no record. E-Z Rent-A-Car customer service was very polite and informed me that someone will contact me. I already sent the time date stamp pictures and I am waiting for a reply... I will keep you updated.

I requested to talk to manager but they said he too was on the other side so I asked them to call him for me and they refused. It was late at night and we had a lot of luggage. I have a younger child with and this made the vacation start off very bad!!

I was very disgraced and disappointed with this company!!! Then the car smelled bad inside and made our allergies start from the drive. Then we did not have a small bill to pay toll so we had to mail payment in when we got home and your company still charged us a fine which I do not think is fair. I do not think I will consider renting with this company again. My husband would like to post this on yelp but will not do so until you have a chance to review the issues.

Just sitting here eating French fries!" He gave us the keys and we walked over to get in the car and it was absolutely filthy. When I asked if the car had been cleaned he responded with yes and he proceeded to hand me glass cleaner while he located paper towels. I told him he and he proceeded to hand me a glass cleaner. I told him, "I didn't come to Vegas on vacation to clean windows on a rental car!" He told me I could walk to the detailers and ask them to re-clean the windows. I asked him to contact them and he said he didn't have a way to reach them. I then asked for another car and he told me it would take forever to change the car.

I walked back in to the main counter where they did change the car, however, the second car was just as dirty! Fingerprints covering ALL the windows. When I contacted the manager the next day she offered for me to bring the car back on empty for my troubles. When we returned I left a small bag in the vehicle by accident. We returned to the location to inquire about our bag. We spoke to "5" employees who have us the runaround before FINALLY reaching the right department to claim our bag. Absolutely ridiculous! Worse customer service I have EVER encountered! As we were exiting we talked to other customers that were extremely dissatisfied as well! I DO NOT recommend this company!

I went to Disneyland with my boyfriend and his family. There were a lot of us, so we rented two vehicles from E-Z at LAX. The plan was for my boyfriend and I to spend day 1 in Hollywood since it was my first time and I wanted to go some sightseeing. We left E-Z and stopped at a gas station because the car was given to us on empty. After filling up and having a bite to eat, we were pulling out of the gas station when we were swarmed by police officers. There were about 7 officers with guns pointed at us. We were arrested and thrown in the back of the police cruisers.

We found out that E-Z had, at some point, reported our car stolen and failed to alert the police when they got it back, so when the officer ran the plates, the vehicle came up as stolen. Luckily for us, the officers were great about it and after they towed our vehicle away, they drove us back to E-Z to get a new car. They gave us the dirtiest, most foul smelling vehicle. The inside was covered in dirt, the seats covered in crumbs and it stunk like mildew. We would have made them give us a new car, but at this point we were three hours into our day, Hollywood was off the table and we had to get to Anaheim so we took it. The manager was conveniently not there at the time and was unable to be reached on the phone. We were told by an employee that this happens all the time. In 8 days we spent in Anaheim, we could never reach the manager.

When we brought the car back we had to fight with them to get a discount. They offered us next to nothing and kept telling us that this wasn't their fault. The manager was finally there but was barely talking to us. They kept saying that they had a business to run and that they couldn't offer us a better discount. I will NEVER rent a car from this company again! I was arrested, terrified and embarrassed, not to mention the first day of our trip was completely ruined. I am going to put my story all over the internet in the hopes that it keeps even one person from renting a car from this company.

    Good afternoon

The day you made your reservation you agreed to the late fees. The late fees were not added on to your bill the day of return because you were late, they were already in place. Our company runs on a 24 hours rental schedule. You notified us that you were going to be renting a bit longer than the 24 hours. This is why in your original reservation you were quoted for 2 days @$24 a day and then an extra 2 hours at $8. As you mentioned you did bring the vehicle back earlier thank expected. You were only charged $4 out of the $8 because of this.

I will be contacting you via private message to make sure you understand you actually saved $4 compared the quoted reservation made prior to the the pick up of the vehicle. Thank you.

Although not happy with the rates ($89 a day for a compact + $17 insurance), I had to have a car for that week. I didn't look over the condition of the car before renting because it was dark and I was exhausted from traveling. On return of the car, I was informed that there were "dings" in the front fender.

I asked for the description to be changed to "ding" because I couldn't and still can't see the other one. I parked in two large parking decks during the time I had the car, there is no way these dings occurred while I had the car. You wouldn't even notice these dings on your own car - see pictures, the dings are circled with chalk. Anyway, those "dings" are going to cost me $855 to fix in addition to the already ripoff daily + insurance rate on the car. I rent a car at least once a month and usually pay about $50 a day and have never had a maintenance issue. Note: With appropriate resolution of this issue, I will change my opinion and review of this company. Thank you.

I rented a car from E-Z Rent-A-Car at Atlanta Airport on Sep 1, 2015 and didn't take their insurance as I had my own insurance. When I got to the car where it was parked, I looked for any visible damages to report. The problem was, the place the car was parked had very little lighting, and I was in a hurry, so I couldn't see a crack inside the car on the transparent plastic in the dashboard. I noticed the crack half an hour later when I was on the road, but the issue was my phone battery had died, I didn't have a car charger and I was stuck in the middle of the Atlanta traffic since it was evening time. The car didn't look well from inside and was smelling weird from inside. I was in the city for a very short time and was very busy with meeting people and going places that I didn't get time to report this crack on the dashboard in my car.

Also, I was hoping that the guys from the rental would already know the cracked plastic since it existed before I took it and was hoping they would understand when I explain it to them. 13 hours later when I return it to them early in the morning and was getting late to my flight, I tell them about this cracked plastic, and they say they don't know about it and ask me to fill a form. I filled the form and wrote that the crack on the dashboard was already there before I took the car. Then 2 weeks later, I get a bill mailed to me for the damages. And then I get a call from them saying that I am supposed to pay the bill. I explain them my situation and tell them it's not my fault, and they say they will check the report from the guy who rented the car before me.

It's been 3 weeks since then, and I have been calling them to figure out the situation. No one picks up the call most of the time. The one time they picked up, they said they will call back later. And even when they call back, they are saying they are still waiting for the report and can't say how long it might take. All I am hoping is for them to look into this matter, realize that it's not my fault and waive their claim, as soon as possible. This is not what I was expecting from a rental car company with over 20 years of experience.

There was a lot of exterior damage visible and noted by the E-Z rep. I had the car from September 25, 2015 to September 28, 2015. Upon return, the E-Z rep performing the inspection noticed a small bubble on the sidewall of the rear passenger tire that was, maybe, the size of a penny. The rep immediately asked, "What did you hit to make a bubble in the tire?" I told her I didn't hit ANYTHING. I never even hit a pothole or went over railroad tracks. I did nothing to cause damage to any of the tires.

She noted the bubble and asked to write an accident report on what I did to cause the damage. I told her I did not cause any damage and I refused to write and accident report when there was NO ACCIDENT!!! She said she couldn't accept the car back unless I wrote an accident report. I absolutely could not miss my flight home so reluctantly I did what she asked. My "accident report" simply stated, "THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT!"

The next couple days I get an email with a bill for a USED tire that was put on the vehicle. $98 IS WHAT THEY ARE TRYING, AND I SAY TRYING because I refuse to pay for damage I did not cause, to make me pay for a used tire!!! And how safe is that for the next customer??? A USED tire? I called the DFW office today and asked for information about the pre-existing damage. When I asked the age and mileage of the tires on the car when I rented it, he said they are the original tires that came on the car from the factory. OVER 34,480 MILES were on it when I rented it.

These tires have excessive tread wear, but somehow it's my fault that there's a bubble in tire WITH THAT MUCH TREAD WEAR AND THAT WAS IN A PREVIOUS ACCIDENT. I cannot fully express my frustration!!! E-Z should refund all the money I paid to rent this car seeing how they rented a car to me that could have put mine and my family's life in jeopardy!!

Dear E-Z Rent A Car person reading this... My claim # is **. I just spoke to an EZ Rental agent in Dallas on the phone. He stated that the tires that on the car at the time of my rental were the original tires and were brand new when EZ Rental purchased the car. Not only was that tire the same one involved in an incident prior to my rental, but it had over 34,480 miles on it! Most tire manufacturer's recommend replacement at or around 30,000 to ensure safety. Please send me the name of the manufacturer, model of the tire, and manufacturer warranty.

Since there was previous damage to the rear passenger fender and rim, I would like to know how it was determined that I experienced an incident to cause the bubble and was the individual who made that determination a qualified and experienced Tire and Wheel Professional? Since the replacement tire purchased by EZ Rental was a used tire, as stated on the invoice I received, was the tire with the bubble originally purchased NEW or also USED?? Please send a photo of the tire with the bubble as well as the rest of the tires on the vehicle to include tread wear and overall condition.

At the time of the rental I mentioned to the attendant that tires were excessively worn and would soon need replacement. Please also send me the name of the manufacturer of the tire with the bubble, model and date of manufacture as well as proof of purchase to include purchase date and total mileage driven on that tire. I am also requesting a written report of the incident that occurred before my rental period which caused the pre-existing damage to the fender and the rim.

I left behind a CD in the CD player. It was The Twilight Saga: Eclipse The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack. When I called the next day in attempt to recover said item, I was told to call back because the "lost and found" person wasn't there yet, which is acceptable because of the time I called was very early for local time. I call back and ask for the transfer there to said person. I get the voicemail and I leave a message. I call back a bit later, again, voicemail. I call back later and the person who kept transferring me suggested to email said person, which I did. That was 3 weeks ago... Still no response. I expected to be back in town next week and I would have picked it up then had I gotten ahold of said person that same day and asked them to hold onto it until that day but I obviously couldn't since I couldn't talk to nobody.

So now I have this to say... I will never NEVER RENT A VEHICLE from E-Z Rent-A-Car or any company affiliated with you again until either one of 2 things happen first. Either A, that same CD is mailed back to me, or B, this company buys me another and has it mailed directly to my address from wherever it's bought from I.E. Amazon.com or Bestbuy.com. I have rented from you multiple times in the past and spent a thousand or 2 each time I have. Travel to Seattle twice a year at least and plan on doing it for many many years to come. IDK about you guys, but you replacing my $15 CD for Thousands and Thousands and Thousands of $$$ in sales over the next many of years, seems like a good deal to me... And yes I'll rent a car from someone else over you wherever E-Z Rent-A-Car is an option over a $15 CD.

After asking politely about the high price the employee told me that this price also includes the insurance for 25 dollar for the car/day. I told him that this still does not add up to the 220 dollars I paid. He told me he cannot do anything about the price. It is the normal price. Come on 110 dollars a day for a Hyundai Elantra!?! Total rip off in my opinion.

    Good afternoon,

Thank you for the review. Along with other rental car agencies, we advertise the daily rate for our vehicles. Taxes, government fees and insurance prices are not included in daily rate quotes for any rental car company out there.

Once you proceed with the reservation it will outline all of the taxes and fees you can expect to pay. This will clearly show you exactly how much the vehicle will cost at pick up. I would be more than happy to look into the situation for you in attempt to find a mutually pleasing resolution. Please expect a private message from me here shortly. Thank you again for the review.

Someone renting a vehicle from this company rear-ended me over a week ago creating extensive damage to my vehicle. I reported the incident immediately to E-Z Rent-A-Car as the driver included the insurance on the vehicle. My insurance company, agent and myself has contacted the company multiple times (being placed on hold for 20 minutes or more each time) and are constantly given information on contacting the risk management department (Vania). We have all left messages and I have sent an email to that department, yet no one has responded. I informed them that I have had to go to the hospital and that my vehicle is no longer operational, still nothing from E-Z Rent-A-Car. If the insurance was paid for by the driver, I cannot understand why they would not respond. I am going to have to seek legal action if no one rectifies this.

I belong to E-Z's rental car club. I actually get discounts from another car rental company, but E-Z is always cheaper. If there is an E-Z Rent-A-Car outlet where I'm landing, I'll use them. I was pretty happy with the service overall. The car was a brand new Toyota Camry, and $131 for a full week. The price was reasonable. The car was new and the inside was clean enough. The outside was a little bit dirty, but it's a car rental. They turn cars over fast. Also, I was going to be a few minutes late returning it and I called them, and they said "No problem" and did not charge me. They're really flexible in that respect. My only complaint is during my second time with them. We were landing in San Diego, but the car has Nevada plates. Also, it had substantial scraps and scruff on it. Other than that, we had a great time with E-Z Rent-A-Car. I'm looking forward to getting to them in their San Diego hub.

10-16-15, I rented from EZ rental for a quick trip to Florida. 30 min into my rental I have a blown tire on I95 North, no spare in the truck and 4 BALD tires on the car. I call Roadside assist, they send my call back to the counter at MCO. I was told they would get a car sent to me. When I asked how long it would take I was asked, "How long did it take for you to get where you are?" Sarcasm is not what I was looking for. 2 hours I sat on I95 in the blazing sun. After recalling MCO several times all I get is an answering machines and no one returning my call. I call back RSA and they have no record of my initial call. Finally a car arrives. It looks like it was in a demolition derby. After making the EZ rental guy walk the car with me coloring in all of the dents, dings and scratches we leave.

1 day later it rains in Florida and the windshield leaks and my feet are getting wet driving. I have called EZ to complain to CS and DAWN (manager) will not return my calls. HOW CAN YOU RENT CARS LIKE THIS? I rent a lot in Florida and I have NEVER experienced such crappy rentals. The convenience of AP pick up was really not worth the hassle from this rental. When I got back to the AP to drop the car off I find out that the car I was given was the maintenance car. I was told I had to go stand back in line at the terminal desk because they never switched the vehicles in their computer. Needless to say I refused to stand in line for 1 hour. I had a flight to catch and was not spending one more second dealing with this place. EZ is not the correct name for this place. Hazardous rentals with be a better name.

The lack of CS is amazing. Dawn, 1-407-674-1006, was suppose to return my call 4 days ago and everytime I call her she tells her staff to tell me she is working on it or she is in a meeting. Yes I got a good deal on my rental car. That doesn't mean I should have to get behind the wheel of an unsafe vehicle. I look for convenience when I travel, I don't want to spend 20 minutes on a shuttle and then 30 min standing in line at an off site rental company. My vacation time is important to me. I want every second I can get enjoying it. The most aggravating thing about this experience is the lack of concern from this company, refusal to answer the phone or return a call. The unsafe vehicles they place their clients in, I find this amazing. I could continue. This is a short version of my experience.

I booked this through Travelocity for me get to a conference with some colleagues. I went up to the counter, prepared to respond to the usual litany of insurance obligations, we will fill your tank, etc. To my surprise, I was asked whether I wanted full or partial insurance, to which I answered "None, I have coverage under my insurance." After providing the name of the insurance, the lady simply instructed me to initial declining insurance, gas, etc. I was then handed the key and given instructions to the location of my car. The car was clean. I noted the scratches and dents, and was shown the exit. All of this took approximately 20 minutes or so.

Upon return, after some friendly reminders (though slightly exasperated) to please follow the quite large signs indicating the location where the returning cars should be parked, the attendant checked everything off on a pad, took the keys, and pointed me to the terminal. Again, all of this under 10 minutes. I could've slept in another 30 minutes and still caught my flight... Great experience.

I will never rent from this company again! First of all, although I got a cheap rate of $10/day, I do not believe that means I should be given a car that sounds as though the muffler or back half of the car is about to fall off. Seriously, every time I stepped on the brakes, even when parked and not moving, the car made a grumbling sound that was audible to other vehicles not just to me, inside the car. The car did not look cleaned either.

Secondly, it took well over 20 minutes, possibly 30 minutes for the shuttle to pick up passengers either getting to the rental agency or to return them to the airport. A lady who had been waiting for the shuttle back to LAX before me actually left to get a taxi because she had been waiting so long. When the shuttle finally arrived the driver said nothing and didn't even offer to help me with my luggage even while he saw me struggling to lift my bag up each individual stair. I've never had a driver not offer to help. Absolutely horrible service!

We were supposed to have a Hyundai Accent and ended up with a Nissan Versa, which was wrecked when we got it, kept dying out and didn't run good at all. We told the agent about it and he stated that the car is like an 'old grandpa now as it has over 20,000 miles and there is nothing that he could do. Then we were quoted $101.03 for the rental car and when we checked out the car, we were told by Rizalina at the counter that we had to get extra collision insurance as it was policy to have the extra insurance. We tried to decline but were told we had to have this insurance due to E-Z's policy. We ended up getting billed $193.85. I emailed and still have yet to receive a response from customer service but I called and spoke to Yumerilis (?) at 10:06am on 09/24/2015 and was told that we were charged an additional $74.97 for 'additional insurance.'

I explained that we tried to decline it but were told we had to have it as it was 'policy'. I tried to tell her that we shouldn't be billed that extra money as we tried numerous times to decline but were told we had to have the extra insurance due to the 'policy of E-Z' but since we signed the contract, that we are out of luck. She said she don't know why we were told that as it is not their policy but there is nothing they can do as we can only dispute charges within 24 hours. Even if you add on the $74.97, it still doesn't total $193.85?!?! So not only are we out almost another $100, it takes up to 2 weeks to get the $200 deposit back.

We still have not gotten a response from the company on the emails we left. We will NEVER use this company again and we will tell anyone who will listen to NEVER use this company as it is nothing but a rip-off, as they quote you one thing but charge you more...

I have rented from E-Z Rent-A-Car before but this time around, it was the price that made us choose them - they had the best price. So I made my rental reservation online and the guy who handled the pickup and return was very quick and efficient. It was a really good experience overall. The process was efficient and the car was very nice. I didn't even have to really check out - I was expecting to drive out to the booth and have them look over the car, but they had already included a form for that and it was very accurate.

My only gripe is that they gave me an SUV as opposed to an economy car. The SUV was very clean but it was a real gas-guzzler and I would've much preferred the economy car. But they got me in and out so quickly that by the time I was going out the door, I figured it doesn't matter anyway. In my opinion, E-Z is better than Fox Rent a Car and I'd go with them again as long as the price is the best.

My family and I were visiting Toronto for the first time and we needed a car in order to commute. Upon arrival, I spent nearly 2 hours finding E-Z car rental, the company at which we reserved a car. This was due to the fact that almost nobody, not even the airport staff, knew the location of E-Z. I booked a car using rentalcars.com for one week. My booking reference number is **. The website said that the fee was $356.99 CAD (weekly rate: $220, and taxes and an additional fee of $136.99), but when I dropped off the car, I was told to pay $549.25 CAD, nearly 1.5 times the proposed fee. Of course, I was charged $45 (5/8 of the tank) for fuel usage, but I was presented with another unknown fee of $147.26, the reason of which I could not understand. I was not informed beforehand about these extra fees.

In addition, there were several safety issues with the car. Pressing the brake pedal of the car ends up shaking the car, and the brakes are ineffective, forcing me to wait a while before the car completely stops. Furthermore, the car's dashboard display consistently showed that the car's service was past due and that it needed an oil change. Lastly, there was trash strewn underneath the seats of the car, including a McDonald's fries container, a mug, and various other debris.

On the last day of our trip, I dropped off the car at E-Z in order to catch a plane at 8:30 am. While I was waiting for the reception, I noticed that there were a few other customers complaining at the front desk, resulting in an extraneous amount of waiting on our part. By the time we were finished with the reception, we rushed to the shuttle bus, but it was full. Running short on time, my family and I tried to board the bus and was told to wait 5 minutes for the next one. After waiting at least 25 minutes, the next shuttle picked us up, and by the time we arrived at the airport, we missed the airport check-in and was forced to re-book the flight.

We even have boarding passes with us to approve the time of arrival, but it didn't matter. We were stranded at 9 pm in Seattle without a car. To top the horrible experience with EZ, Orbitz sent us email next day stating that we owed them a service charge because we didn't pick up a car from EZ. Fortunately Alamo matched the price and upgraded the model. DO NOT USE EZ CAR RENTAL.

I prepaid with CarRentals.com. I got to the Orlando International Airport, Luna was at the front desk and asked me where I was going. I told her, "Virginia," she then told me I wasn't allowed to take their car out of state. If I knew that I would have never rented the car. I asked for a refund. She refused with an attitude and laughed on top of that. I said, "Ok, fine. I'll stay local." She then said, "We allow 200 miles per day." I told her, "It says unlimited miles when I rented the car." She said, "No, not for locals."

I handed her my VA license and she said, "That doesn't matter." I said, "Why doesn't my VA license not work for you proving I'm not a local?" She spoke another language to her buddy next to her. Finally she said, "Fine, you have unlimited miles!" She then overcharged me for my deposit even though it clearly said 30% of your total rental. Even though the name of the company is E-Z rentals, not one thing is EZ about them! They are crooks, con-artists, thieves, and extremely rude! I will NEVER rent from that crooked company. We prepaid a car for 2 days at a special online rate for $84. Booked an online reservation with E-Z car rental. All included taxes and fees totalled $84. Now that my husband returned the car there are all these hidden cost to inflate the 2 day rate @ $27. Total charges are $141.17. Why didn't E-Z rental review with passengers of these fees upon pick up? What are the 4 additional charges - airport access fee, vehicle license, surcharge??? customer facility charge? Where did all these fees come into play??

In the past we have rented from Avis, Hertz, Enterprise and Alamo and we have never been hit with these ridiculous charges. Isn't it the responsibility of E-Z rentals to point out these charges online and also at the terminal counter before taking the car rental? Their response when confronted was that we had to contact them with 24 hours of the return. We did so within 48 hours which was not sufficient and what difference would it make when the charge was on our credit card?

In Florida air costs 4 quarters, try finding 4 quarters twice a day for 9 days. Augh! In Florida we were quoted $711 for a mini van, by the time they added on all the hidden fees we owed over $1000 they brought out a dodge mini van. We told them we really liked the Toyota mini van we rented from them on our previous trip in Colorado. They said we would have to pay a few hundred more for a Toyota in Florida. Never again.

I totally deny that was my doing. They checked it in. Who knows what happened after that. If it were mine, I'd simply black touch up. Lord only knows how much they will attempt to extort from me. At the time I went to pick up my rental I was pressured to buy the EZ pass even though I told the guy I was only gone on Rt .95 then into Boca, no place else. He kept saying a toll booth could pop up anywhere. I gave in and got it. Then I heard the person next to him giving the same spiel to her customers who agreed too but looked a bit confused by it. I realized he should know no tolls on 95 so I am trying to dispute it and get that part refunded but guess what... There is no customer service anywhere, and still waiting for a return call or email. There are many other rent a car dealers to use and I would recommend any would be better than EZ...

My husband and I rented a car July 29-30, 2015. We returned the car without any hiccups. Everything was great. We got back home for a few days and I realized that I had possibly left my calendar in the car. I started calling the Las Vegas facility at 1 pm (my time) and could NEVER get ahold of anyone. I ended up leaving 2 messages within a 3 hours span. I called almost every 10 minutes until I left work at 4:45 pm (my time). I did however call the reservation extension at 4:30ish and had them transfer me to the Las Vegas facility. Someone DID answer but put me on hold immediately and then I was on hold for 22 minutes. I had to hang up because my place of business was closing the doors. So I went home and tried calling again. I again could not get ahold of anyone.

So I called the reservation line again and the lady I spoke to said that the Las Vegas facility is awful at not answering their phones and keeping people on hold for long periods of time. She gave me the customer service number and said I would have to call tomorrow (Aug 4) because they had already closed for the day. So I asked her if she could try to connect me to the Las Vegas facility and she said she would try. A lady answered and said that she was transferring me to lost & found (so I am assuming that the lady from reservations had explained what I was needing). I WAS ON HOLD FOR 1 HOUR & 7 MINUTES!!! Are you kidding me??? I kept my cool until after being on hold for over an hour, I was hung up on!!! I lost it. I called back to the reservations line and totally flipped out on whoever answered.

I apologized and said I know it was not her fault but I was LIVID by this point!!! She connected me to the Las Vegas facility and the gentleman that picked up was very rude and immediately transferred me to Lost & Found and then after being on hold yet again for about 10 minutes this time I was hung up on AGAIN!!! I calmly called the reservations line again and asked to be connected to the Las Vegas facility. The lady that answered was nice (her name was Susie) and I begged and pleaded for her not to put me on hold or transfer me. She at that point asked me to explain what was going on. I calmly explained to her (I was almost in tears at this point) what was going on and how long I had been trying to get in touch with someone to check for my calendar. I wouldn't be so concerned BUT it is my work calendar and has EVERYTHING in it including my time card (which has all my info on it... name, address, social, etc).

Susie said that she was going to take all my info and would have to call me back. It would probably be at least an hour before she would be able to call me back because she was personally going to go & check for it. Well that was 6:45 pm last night. I have not heard from anyone and I tried calling again this morning and yet again CANNOT get ahold of anyone. This is the worst experience I have EVER had with any kind of company or anything for that matter. I am expecting something to be done about this and I am expecting someone to contact me on this issue. I again apologize for anything I said to the one lady but at that point I had lost it.

DENVER LOCATION - I previously left a poor rating due to a dispute in my bill. I am so sorry! Having my final charges come through 3 days after return from vacation for $250 more than I was charged for, I did not get a response for a request for my bill when I asked via email. Two days later I got that sinking feeling I had made a bad choice for a rental company. I went online and proceeded to read similar complaints of overcharges and promises of return funds, that never got returned. I self-diagnosed my situation and in a huff left a scathing review of my experience, which was true but assumptive in the end.

Finally, I got a very helpful gentleman whose name I wrote down but cannot locate today. He was able to determine by my specific notation of pick up and drop off, what had happened. It was a late return, that got checked into the system the following day, and I had fallen into a weekly rate.

Two days later, JUST as he promised my refund of $250 was in my account! Consumers just need to know that when you find a great deal such as EZ there are going to be OTHER charges. Just be careful and play by their rules (don’t smoke in car and get charged $300 cleaning fee), and it really is POSSIBLE to travel that inexpensively! Thank you, EZ and we will return!

    Original Review: Aug. 2, 2015

Had a semi pleasant experience with picking up the car. They were severely understaffed with only one person working the entire operation other than the shuttle. Agreed to a $20 a day upgrade to get 4WD. Only car available had just been returned so I took it as is figuring it was raining and would get washed anyway. Lone guy ran out, pulled it up to the curb, and I was off. Nice car!!! Returned it right on time with exactly the 3/4 tank I left with. A week later a charge goes through for $250 more than I signed for. I called, stayed on hold for an hour. I emailed a very pleasant request for review of charges and no one will answer my request or explain why I was overcharged. I don't smoke so it can't be that and even if I was charged for gas it couldn't be THAT much for a 1/4 of a tank??? Angry. I paid fair price, took all their upgrades, and still got scammed.

Company looks for any reason to charge you more than the agreed price. When I brought the car back I was charged for an extra day because I was a few hours late. Other rental companies give you a window, accounting for traffic etc. They reversed the charge when I noticed it. They then charged my credit card a $50 administrative fee for a $2 or $3 toll they claim I did not pay while traveling. Steer clear of this company. Once they get your credit card number, they will create ways to overcharge you.

I had a great experience with my whole rental process until I returned a vehicle on 7/6/15. I rented a white Toyota Sienna and it was a nice clean vehicle and the staff was friendly and helpful on the day of checkout. I live in Colorado Springs and my rep was informative and let me know about the 150/day mileage limit and other info that I was unaware of. For the duration of the rental, I had the keys to the Sienna attached to a 2 inch blue hook ring, along with the smart key to my personal vehicle. My wife and I drove her car back home to Colorado Springs and I then realized that I left the key to my personal car hooked to the bright blue key ring in the ignition of the vehicle we had just rented. I called back and the staff stated that the vehicle was still on the lot and placed me on hold to look. Two different men came back to say they would check.

One told me that he did not see the ring. I realize this may be a matter of my word versus his, but I find it disturbing because I am 100% positive my key was in the ignition on the ring at the time I dropped vehicle off just an hour and a half prior. I made it a point to clearly describe the FORD smart Fob/key and the fact that it was not misplaced under a seat or something like that, but on a key ring attached to the key that one of your reps had to see while removing the key from the vehicle. I travel quite a bit and this was my first time using E-Z rental. I was so pleased with the service up until this point. It upsets me that someone has probably kept the fob and possibly does this regularly when patrons call back for missing fobs or other items that can be resold or of significant value. Unfortunately, now I will have to have my car towed and spend over $300 in replacement and towing fees to have another key coded. Thanks to a dishonest employee.

This may or may not fall on deaf ears, but if others have made similar reports, maybe the person responsible will be identified. Furthermore, I called back to speak to a manager a little later around 4:30 pm on the same Tuesday and was told that he was in a meeting. I asked for the manager's name and was told "Todd" was in a meeting. I asked for a last name and was told that that information is not shared, nor did they know when the meeting would end. I asked for the male rep's name that was assisting me and was told it was "Abby." The rep ended our conversation abruptly and hung up on me immediately afterwards.

Trip to California in April. 20 miles on a toll road, I didn't remember to call the toll company as it was a stressful family event that took me to Cal. Three weeks after returning the car at LAX E-Z RAC tried to run the card to pay for $121.23 for the toll and fees. Never saw a bill, no call, etc, never had any inkling, BUT I did read the tiny print on the contract and there it was. HOWEVER the card issuer knew I was not in Florida and declined it. Knowing it was useless to get mad, I had a month of calls never returned, e-mails never answered, even offered to send my son who lives in Kissimmee over there but never could get any paperwork -- and finally the card issuer made arrangements with me that they would allow the card to be run, within a deadline of 5 days. Didn't happen.

BUT -- remember I said a MONTH? In the MAIL there was a letter from the California Tolls -- apparently it goes back to them after a certain amount of time. In it I was (as a first time infringer) allowed to pay the original toll of $6.45 on the net. And even though I had written my new best friends at E-Z RAC to hurry there was a deadline, they still tried to run it the week after. They must be seriously understaffed is the best thing to assume. No point in getting mad, settling this was a contractual obligation, but it sure took a while!

My daughter and I rented a car from E-Z Rent-A-Car on 05-29-15, returning it on 05-31-15. Upon our returning of the car, we were charged $143 instead of the $71 dollars agreed upon in the rental agreement. The person receiving the car claimed we had only rented the car for 2 day and not 3 days. We were charged another $20 dollars plus a $50 late fee. Since we had to catch a plane, I signed the final bill under protest. I was told I could go speak to the rental agents, which was not possible since we needed to catch a plane. I contacted customer service by email the following day, but was unable to get the matter resolved. I have contacted the Attorney General in Texas, asking their office to review the matter since I believe fraud may be involved. I am also going to contact the BBB in Dallas and ask them to look into the matter.

I rented car in Las Vegas, to drive home to San Diego. I was not informed there would be HOURLY rates charged if the car was not returned PRECISELY 24 hours after the "Due In" time. I checked the paperwork to find the drop-off location and found nothing. Had to call to find out where to deliver the car. I had made plans to bring the car to the airport because the paperwork indicated "SAN". Changing plans for a ride home took some time, and I delivered the car two hours "late", resulting in fees and charges costing more than an entire DAY! They Equated to $57.50 per hour.

When I expressed shock at these charges, I was told that I should have asked for a map... Really?! Of course, when I asked to speak with the manager, "she" was not available. This contradicts the company's claim that their staff is always available. I was handed a business card with a phone number hand written on the back. I requested the extra exorbitant charges be credited back to my account, and I will find out the answer "in 48 hours or less". Again.... Really???!!! That narrows it down. What a scam!

I used E-Z Rent-A-Car through vacationoutlet.com. After I saved and confirmed my dates I decided to look at the reviews and there were a lot of negative and unsatisfied customers. I was really scared and didn't know what to expect when I picked up the car. Well I wanted to say this because it needs to be said! I was not pressured into purchasing their extra ins. nor was anything changed from my confirmed quote. Price was the best out of any of them. I got a Nissan Altima. When returning the car no problems at all and the price stayed the same..

Only negative: The place they are suppose to pick up at was hard to find but after calling twice we found it on our own. The low windshield wash light was on and the steering had some play in it. Overall for the price it was worth it. 10 days and price was under 240.00. So for those out there who seen all the bad.. I'm a happy customer!! Happy Travels.

I barely review businesses, but I feel I need to warn unsuspecting victims in this case. The customer service is horrible. The reps are not very helpful and rude. They provide contradicting information to customers as well. I rent cars when I travel and this is the first time I used EZ. This is also the first time the low tire pressure warning turned on and the car did not come with a full tank of gas. This shows that they do not maintain their cars like reputable car rental companies are expected to. Contrary to what I was told by the rep at the LAX office, a $200 hold was placed on my Credit Card and they would not provide authorization to my credit card company to release the hold. This charge is more than 20% of my overall credit limit which can negatively affect my credit score. I spoke with a manager (I think her name is ** or something similar). She was rude and disrespectful and later hung up on me. Horrible experience overall.

We rented the car at E-Z Rent-a-Car, Los Angeles (airport) because the price seemed to be good. In the end it was not so good, after paying insurance, collision damage waiver and supplemental liability insurance. However, the car was right and service courteous. We have two serious complaints. We used toll roads twice, i.e. 2x16.5 miles. After two months we were charged $127 by the toll administration and $25 administration costs. This apparently is legal, but it is preposterous. The actual cost of the toll is less than $10 and there is no way to pay the toll on the road. One can pay afterward online and that is what we did, but the payment was ignored. In other words, we paid some $160 for twice 16 m. on a toll road.

I have two essential complaints: Since the Californian toll system is organized so that it can shortchange tourists, a car rental company should warn customers and encourage them to get a pass for the tolls. As the added image shows, the total paid in toll violations by the rental company on a single day was more than $10,000. That is clearly not unique. It is a racket. I was charged by E-Z Car and they took $25 extra administration costs. For complaints (I HAD made one payment online) one is sent to the State: "contact the state to dispute. If the violation is dropped by state, a letter of dismissal from state must be forwarded to our company before any compensation can be made." Of course that is no option for someone living in another continent. E-Z Car is not a firm to do business with.

We used them for our DENVER trip. Paid extra to have a mid-size suv with all wheel drive. They assured me I'd have a Grand Cherokee or equivalent and we got a KIA which is a compact suv. They talked us into getting the extra full coverage insurance and we went for it since it was a BLIZZARD. The vehicle had been sideswiped which they didn't bother to tell us. My husband had to go back in and tell them. They assured us it was ok since we had the extra insurance. "Uh, what about driving around in a wrecked car?"

The gas tank was almost on E and did I mention it was a blizzard? Thanks goodness we put gas in it before we hit the interstate! Returned the vehicle same as we got it and now a month later they are HARASSING us for $588 to replace a cracked windshield, and oh btw they forgot to mention that's not covered in their "full coverage" insurance! Tried calling them and using my kindest negotiation tactics and was met with a rude, "sorry lady. I don't know what to tell you!"

So, two things we've learned: 1. NEVER deal with this company!!! I have read (now after the fact) hundreds of complaints on this site and others; 2. If you already have full coverage car insurance, you don't need to purchase the extra insurance they push on you. Our agent at Farm Bureau let us know that. They are now taking care of this "problem" for us. This company is running quite a racket selling these expensive "extra" insurance policies and then going after innocent consumers to have new tires and windshields replaced since that's "not covered". I guess the only way they are still in business is because people like me didn't do their research first!

I travel a lot and I am a frequent car renter. E-Z Rent A Car is the worst. Stay away from them. If you happened to have reserved a car from them, here is a trick that could get you. First, let me tell how I learned this trick. At pick-up in Seattle airport office, the agent asked me whether I wanted to buy their collision issuance or just use my primary insurance. I told them I would use my primary insurance and I did NOT want to buy their insurance. The agent then asked what was my insurance company. I said Farmers. He nodded with a big smile in his face. It all appeared natural and easy. Then the agent pulled out a contract and showed me which space I needed to put my initial and signature in. I did exactly as he said. Guess what, I was charged for $114 for their collision insurance in the invoice after I returned the car.

I call them about this two days later. They told me that I signed at the line "I accept the Collision Damage Waiver 500 (LPC) 10.99 per day". Stupid me, all I recall is that I saw the word "Waiver", and I had asked the agent if that meant I don't buy their insurance. He said yes! My phone calls were answered by different people. The person named ** was an extremist; she claimed that she was the boss of that place. She was arrogant and rude. She showed absolutely no intention to help. No one else did.

Every time I called, I had to explain the situation all over again. They then promise to look into it and call me back but never did. I called the headquarter in Florida for help, and it turned out to be a waste of time. Now you know the trick. Beware of this line, don't sign this line "I accept the Collision Damage Waiver 500 (LPC) 10.99 per day" if you don't want buy their insurance. And better yet, don't rent from E-Z Rent A Car - It not easy.

We went to the counter and showed them the confirmation e-mail we received from EZ and we're told that they had cancelled our reservation! But no matter, they still had plenty of cars including a mid-sized like we had requested. The only difference was that now we would be charged the "Walk Up" price which was $200 more! I showed them the quote that they had given me and was told it didn't matter, that was the way they did things.

I asked to talk to a manager and was told that the rude person we were talking to was the most senior on duty. I then asked who the day manager was and was refused an answer. Since we were at the rental center and there were several other companies around, we went to another large national brand where we were treated well and courteously, We will NEVER consider EZ again and will recommend that no one else ever be taken in by them. Back on January 8th, I paid for a car rental through carrentals.com with EZ car rentals. My "prepaid reservation" was **. We made the reservation for the Seattle Airport for 11 am on Saturday, January 17. Due to personal schedule issues we were not able to arrive until about 4:30 or 5. Upon our arrival to the EZ car rental desk, nothing went well. Brian was their customer service representative at the time. He asked for my name and quickly told me that because we were late our car had been rented out to someone else and they had no more compacts. Brian stated by their policy they were only obligated to hold the reservation for two hours. I asked reservation? I not only had a reservation I paid for the car in advance?

I asked how that would be possible given the fact that I had prepaid in full in advance more than a week prior? I told Brian that given the fact that I had paid for the car rental in advance it should have sat there and waited for me all the way through Tuesday morning if need be, which was the turn in date of the rental agreement. Brian just smiled?

After hearing there were no more compact vehicles available I asked Brian how he was going to resolve this for me? Brian stated the best that he would be able to do is upgrade us to a full-size vehicle. I said that's fine as long as it's at no expense to us? Brian responded no whatever the upgrades were from a compact it would be as an incremental expense to us. I asked Brian if I could speak to the manager? Brian responded that the manager was off for the weekend. I asked Brian who is there that is empowered to make a decision in order to make a customer happy? Brian said he was the only one there and there was nothing he could do.

Bottom line, after all of our frustrations we upgraded to a full-size vehicle and paid the incremental $20+ all because Brian and EZ car rentals did not care one bit about customer service. There is nothing "easy" about customer service at EZ car rentals! We will never ever go back to EZ car rentals. A very unhappy carrentals.com customer...

Before I start, have you ever taken a moment to look at the E-Z Rent-A-Car reviews throughout the internet? (Consumer Affairs, Rip Off Report...too many to list here). It is staggering to see the kind of organization that E-Z Rent-A-Car has built. When using E-Z Rent-A-Car for the first time, we were treated as if we were a bother and a nuisance. This should have been the first clue to leave the counter and move 20 feet away to Enterprise. We have made our minds to do that now, but then, we gave your employees the benefit of the doubt that perhaps it was a bad day for them.

We pulled into our hotel to be told by the staff that our tire was flat. We immediately called AAA to change the tire. The AAA attendant showed us the nail in the tire. We immediately went to have the tire replaced and even called the E-Z rental staff to let them know that they had a nail in the tire. We are not sure when the nail was in the tire, only that the AAA attendant said it had been there for quite some time. When we reached the E-Z rental staff in Dallas, they informed us that we needed to replace the tire with the EXACT tire that was on the car all around - brand and style. We attempted to comply with this request by visiting numerous local tire stores. We did not want to drive far because it was a cheap spare not meant to drive far. The only place that carried the tires, locally, was a shop that said it had to be ordered because it was a specialized brand. We asked for an invoice, which they supplied.

We called the E-Z rental staff to see what we would need since there was no way to get a tire during our vacation there. They informed us that we would need to drive to the airport (many miles away) to return the car for a different one and that we would be responsible for the tire because of the nail. (remember, we have no proof that the nail was not already in the tire when we drove out of the rental car area). Afraid of driving on the long drive to the airport on a spare, we did so anyway. After all, we just spent the entire day of our vacation running around looking for a tire because the E-Z staff told us this was required. (of that alone, I am appalled).

When we reached the airport to exchange cars, they gave us another car that was not running right. It would not go into gear from the parking mode. Yes, we know that the brake must be applied and the button pressed, but it still would not go in gear. Our family, whom we visited, was astounded that they had to wait an average of 5 minutes for us to get the gear from park to reverse or drive. (we have video of this by the way). The car would surge ahead when at a stop. We never could figure out the issue, but we did report it. No one ever cared that we had a shoddy car, yet paid full price for the rental. This was the worse experience with a rental car company that we have had. In fact, nothing comes close to this! Run - do not use this company for any reason.

I have used EZ rent a car many times in the past, but it's been years since I've needed to rent a car. I picked them wherever they had offices because usually they have very good cars, the price is right and the people working at the counter used to be extremely nice. I even got to recommend them a few times to friends.

Now, I rented a car from them through Priceline (wanted to get the points) and as usual got a great deal for a great car. A Toyota Camry with all the whistles for an economy car is a great deal. At any rate, rented it on December the 18th in the morning, returned it 2 days later after only used it for 58 miles (I was on a business trip and wanted it to go out and have dinner, get any last minute things before my big trip overseas of 3 weeks, etc.). Returned the car after filling up the tank (about $10 worth of gas) with no problems. Woman went outside, check the car and the odometer and sent me my merry way.

What is my surprise when I get back from my overseas trip to find a letter from them stating that I had over $700 worth of damages. Sadly this was Friday afternoon and by the time I realized this, the office was closed already (conveniently opened from 8 am to 3 pm Monday though Friday). Monday Morning I call at 8 am and get a lady who takes my information and tells me she'll contact the rental place and get back to me. I thought...so there is no paper work that went with the claim? how's that possible? Of course I KNOW I didn't do any damage to the car but if they are going to have the nerve to put a claim together and send it to me, at the very least have the paper work to support it handy, right? Are they expecting people just to send them a check???

I gave them a couple of days and called back Thursday. Got same woman, gave me same response. Now it's Monday of the following week, have yet to hear from them. I already let Priceline know what happen and will keep writing everywhere. If they think they can just take money away from me they are dealing with the wrong person.

In my entire life I've never been treated so poorly by a rental agency. I reserved two vehicles in San Juan, Puerto Rico on December 3rd and when I arrived at the airport Christmas Day I called their designated number to have their shuttle pick up my family and me. At that time I was told that they had NO VEHICLES to give me. After some heated discussion I requested that they at least provide their shuttle to take us to our hotel for the night. They agreed after several calls and promised that two vehicles would be dropped off at the hotel the following morning between 8 and noon...no cars arrived and no one called.

At this point it was after noon so I decided to send my family ahead by taxi to our destination an hour away which cost me $100. Again, many phone calls later, I managed to get them to pick me up and take me to their rental location where I was promised that, when a particular blue Jeep was returned in about 20 minutes, it was mine and that they would give me a discount to offset the cab fare. Well when the blue Jeep finally did come in over an hour later, and I inquired why it was sitting out back and not being prepped, I was informed the manager was reserving that car for someone else. Once again, I had to lose my cool in order to get results in the form of a Jeep Compass (I had reserved a full-size car).

When it came time to return the vehicle, I was charged the same price I was originally quoted for the full-size vehicle I never received and no discount. I was told they would send an email to someone named Sandy to see about a discount...I'm not holding my breath. DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS RENTAL COMPANY...I GUARANTEE YOU WILL NOT BE TREATED ANY BETTER. PAY THE EXTRA AND GO WITH A NAME BRAND.

We reserved a mini-van through this company in October, and according to the information they sent me, the only thing that would void the guarantee is if we were more than an hour and a half late. We arrived on schedule in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico at around 2 a.m., but there was no shuttle at the airport to the rental facility. Not only that, but they didn't answer their phones. When we finally got hold of someone about a half hour later, we were told that there were no cars available, and might not be for days. We later learned that they left eight other customers like us stranded that night. There was no warning about this, nothing to alert us that we'd be stranded at the airport in the middle of the night with no transportation. We took a $50 cab ride to our hotel, and spent the next three days trying to get a rental from this company. They seldom answer the telephone, and although they assure you that they'll have something the next day, they NEVER call you back with information. We finally found a rental through another company four days into our vacation, but it was much more expensive, and we spent a lot on cabs, etc. If you want a completely unsatisfying and unhappy experience, rent your vacation car from EZ Rent-A-Car. It was my worst experience, ever.

We made a reservation for a car in Puerto Rico for five days in 12/2014. When we got there at 1:30 in the morning, we were told that they do not have any car available but they will send a shuttle to take us the hotel and later let us know when a car is available. Upon several calls, they did send a shuttle after 2 hours of waiting on the airport. The next day after more than 20 calls, someone picked up the phone and told us that "one car is being sent to a location near you at 1:00 PM." We checked out of our hotel and walked two miles to get there. The guy there told us that this car company is a liar, and in his experience, no car will ever be sent here. He was right. When I called the company, someone named Lisa picked up the phone after more than 17 calls and told us that a car will arrive in 10 minutes but nothing came after two hours of waiting in the sun outside their tiny office. I tried calling them 20 times but nobody picked up the phone so we took a taxi to go to our next hotel. During the following four days, we spent around $800 in taxis, not to mention lost a whole day of vacation being screwed around by the company. We tried other companies for rental but nothing was available and they all had bad reviews for E-Z Rent-A-Car.

I rented the car on December the 25th. First I was given a straight drive and then another car of which was dirty and also had 1/4 tank of gas. I don't drive a straight drive. I drove to my sons house and then returned the car on the 26th. It had a full tank of gas and I ask for a discount because of the car being dirty as well as paying me back for gas. I was told the Manager would call me the next day. Never heard from him. EZ car rental. I won't use Priceline again. This was in Tampa, near W. Shore Blvd.

I wish to update this review. EZ Rent a Car refunded the three administration fees but only after this complaint and my complaints to the BBB of West FL, the Fl State Attorney General, FL Dept of Transportation, Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Federal Trade Commission, Hillsborough County Consumer Protection Office, & Seniors vs. Crime Volunteers.

I have no idea which contact may have prompted them to refund as they sent no info. I just received a alert from my credit card co. of the credit. I up grade my star-rating to two stars again for this business practice of charging without giving you the chance to pay. Otherwise my experience with EZ was OK. I hope this helps others to avoid unexpected charges on their credit cards.

    Original Review: Dec. 26, 2014

On 11/14/14 one of my brothers and I flew to Tampa to visit our younger brother who lives in an "assisted living facility" in Clearwater. I reserved a car with EZ which we picked up and had a great weekend. We flew back home on 11/16/14. I thought we had done very well with the cost of the trip as we had not seen our brother in several years partly due to the fact that I am retired and on social security. I could barely afford the trip.

On 12/23/14 I received an alert from my credit card company of four additional charges from EZ. Upon contacting them they said it was for unpaid tolls and "administration costs". One toll, $0.76 and another for $1.87. Two charges for $25.00 each for the administration charges ($50 total). After calling my brother we recalled that we saw signs for a toll road (The CrossTown) and did in fact use it for a short distance but could not find a place to pay a toll as we exited. We decided it may have been like a toll bridge in South Alabama where the toll was dropped after the bridge was paid for. At any rate, I was never offered a chance to pay the tolls. They were charged to my credit card. And, even though both times were on the same day, I was charged 2 of these so called administration charges of $25.00 each. But wait... I can do you even better.

This morning, 12/26/14 I received another alert from my credit card company for two more charges. This time for $0.79 (toll charge) and $25.00 (Administration charge). Again, EZ show their famous business practices. I would recommend to everyone to avoid this company at all costs. I'm not sure my saga is over as yet. I contacted the company and was told that I should have read the fine print found in the garbage (that you could barely see) on the back of my contract.

Same thing as the Dec. 4 rental person had in Denver. Rented the car which was fine but upon receiving my Capital One statement. 3 months later I find two items I did not recognize: EZRAC TOLL ADMIN ORLANDO FL $7.85 and EZRAC TOLL ADMIN LADO $75.00. I did not recognize the vendor but upon help from Capital One we identified this charge to my Denver rental Sept. 15 -22. Together we spoke to the Orlando rep who said since I did not sign up for EZ toll service the fees. Therefore the fees I told the Capital One person that I would pay the toll road charge since I remember taking a toll road back to the airport but expected the charges to be presented for payment at a later time but not the $75. After the conversation with EZ the Capital One rep turned me over the Dispute Dept. who after hearing the story said this was very common amongst car rental agencies but not to worry as they will take care of this.

Rented a car in Denver, customer service on arrival stated "if taking any toll you will be billed to the car later." We took one toll road, was charged $9.85 from the state and an additional $75 from EZ rental car for administration fees! When called the company Dawn stated the state to Colorado charged this and I needed to contact them. I then called Colorado who stated that fee was from EZ rental car company. Called EZ back to have a very rude Dawn, state I signed the contract which states administration fee for toll roads. I may have signed that contract which is fine but I was verbally told they would bill later and then I received three administration fees charges for one road! NEVER rent from EZ rental because there was nothing easy about this experience.

    Good afternoon,

Unfortunately if you did sign a contract waiving the toll pass you were notified you would be charged for any tolls you ran and did not pay for while in possession of our vehicle. If you could provide your contract number I would be happy to recheck your contract and see if there is anything I can do. Thank you.

October 2014 we rented from LAX for a 3 week road trip. First issue is the tire warning light was on. I immediately let the rep at the customer service desk know about it and he said it's a new car and kicked all 4 tires and said it should go off soon. The light never went off... took it to a tire store a week later where they said the front tire was dangerously low and we were lucky it didn't blow on the highway. Second issue is I was not informed the car couldn't leave the state of CA. I needed the car for a road trip through NV, CA and AZ which I expressed to the customer service desk at LAX. Only later in NV when I called about tire did I learn that I couldn't take the car to AZ. Had to drive from Las Vegas back to LAX and find a new rental company. Third problem, they wouldn't let my husband be a second driver at no charge because we have different last names on our ID's. California state law states that the renter of a vehicle that starts and finishes in CA can lawfully include their spouse as a driver on the rental agreement for no additional charge.

They wouldn't authorize it even when I proved we were married with my marriage certificate. Fourth issue...just got my CC statement and EZ Rent a car charged me $150 for admin tolls. Mind you I crossed through only two tolls in California. The first one was closed and was stated, "NO TOLLS" when we passed through, the second one was $2 which I paid cash. Not sure then where these SCAM toll charges come from. I called my credit card company and they said there are tons of complaints regarding this, and they consider it fraud and had to close my CC. Thanks EZ Rent a Car for the worst rental experience!

I booked a rental online through carrentals.com for an economy car from EZ Rent A Car in Dallas. I thought I was getting a good deal as I was on a budget. The rental was paid online right away. When I got to Dallas after various delays and layovers with my flights, I was asked for my credit card at the counter. The agent said it was for any incidentals. He then asked me to sign and initial. What I didn't realize was in my tired state one line was for the additional insurance that I didn't need.

When I returned the car, I noticed an additional charge of $150, making my weekend car rental cost nearly $400, more than my plane ticket. I called the DFW location when I got home and questioned the charge, they quickly dismissed me and told me what the "fees" were listed on my sales slip. It was the insurance. I tried to explain that I had not wanted the insurance and felt mislead. The agent was very rude and again dismissed me. I asked for the customer service number which I could not get through to anyone on. I searched for another number that didn't work, so I resorted to email. I was emailed back a generic "we received your email" message and a 10% off coupon.

It's been 3 months and no one has yet returned an email or shown any kind of concern for the customer. I had an issue with a rental car one other time in my life, and the company resolved it immediately. This company clearly does not care about retaining business from clients. I would not recommend renting from this company to anyone traveling.

I searched online and found their price was a little cheaper but before I found this review site. If I found and I wouldn't make the reservation with this company. They offered a little less price but not the cheapest and forced us to purchase their insurance of 13.99 per day which I never paid with other car rental companies as Dollar, Budget, Alamo etc. They also tried to ask me to purchase the toll package which for the past 3 days I never paid a toll in Orlando. I won't rent any car with this company again.
