I rented a black Chevrolet Impala from E-Z Rent-A-Car in Orlando on 9/5/15. I did a walk-around and did not see any scratches, but the garage was poorly lit in the evening. Upon returning the car on 9/7/15 in the morning, the attendant informed me there was a 1-inch scratch on the left front driver door. I told her it was probably there when we rented it, but it was such a minor scratch it should not be a big deal to fix.
Yesterday, I received a bill for $693.20 to fix this scratch! I know this is a scam and E-Z Rent-A-Car is just planning to pocket the money if they receive it. Also, the estimate provided was completed on 9/9/15 at 8:42 PM (which is probably after someone else rented/returned it) and included repainting the left front door AND left rear door! I tried to call the E-Z Rent-A-Car Risk Management department today and no one ever answered the phone. I left a message and have yet to get a reply.

I rented a car in San Diego and I got an email from one of the booking services saying E-Z Rent-A-Car was a good rent-a-car deal for San Diego, so I investigated and decided it was. I did the reservation online and it was quick and simple. There were no problems on the day of the pickup. The information was all there and I had specified what I wanted. They offered me an upgrade which occasionally happens. On the day of the return, it was very positive because I returned it a little early. Originally I was gonna return it early in the morning, and then looked at my plane schedule and decided it was flying out early. I decided to return it the night before and then I started going back to the airport. I needed to go back to the hotel, which was near the airport, and the driver agreed to take me back to the hotel which was convenient, but some people wouldn't necessarily agree to do that. He went above and beyond and I appreciated that.

I am being charged for a tire replacement on a vehicle that had previous noted and visible damage to the rim and fender of the tire location. The car had over 34,480 miles on it the day I got it. There was a lot of exterior damage visible and noted by the E-Z rep. I had the car from September 25, 2015 to September 28, 2015. Upon return, the E-Z rep performing the inspection noticed a small bubble on the sidewall of the rear passenger tire that was, maybe, the size of a penny. The rep immediately asked, "What did you hit to make a bubble in the tire?" I told her I didn't hit ANYTHING. I never even hit a pothole or went over railroad tracks. I did nothing to cause damage to any of the tires.
She noted the bubble and asked to write an accident report on what I did to cause the damage. I told her I did not cause any damage and I refused to write and accident report when there was NO ACCIDENT!!! She said she couldn't accept the car back unless I wrote an accident report. I absolutely could not miss my flight home so reluctantly I did what she asked. My "accident report" simply stated, "THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT!"
The next couple days I get an email with a bill for a USED tire that was put on the vehicle. $98 IS WHAT THEY ARE TRYING, AND I SAY TRYING because I refuse to pay for damage I did not cause, to make me pay for a used tire!!! And how safe is that for the next customer??? A USED tire? I called the DFW office today and asked for information about the pre-existing damage. When I asked the age and mileage of the tires on the car when I rented it, he said they are the original tires that came on the car from the factory. OVER 34,480 MILES were on it when I rented it.
These tires have excessive tread wear, but somehow it's my fault that there's a bubble in tire WITH THAT MUCH TREAD WEAR AND THAT WAS IN A PREVIOUS ACCIDENT. I cannot fully express my frustration!!! E-Z should refund all the money I paid to rent this car seeing how they rented a car to me that could have put mine and my family's life in jeopardy!!
Dear E-Z Rent A Car person reading this... My claim # is **. I just spoke to an EZ Rental agent in Dallas on the phone. He stated that the tires that on the car at the time of my rental were the original tires and were brand new when EZ Rental purchased the car. Not only was that tire the same one involved in an incident prior to my rental, but it had over 34,480 miles on it! Most tire manufacturer's recommend replacement at or around 30,000 to ensure safety. Please send me the name of the manufacturer, model of the tire, and manufacturer warranty.
Since there was previous damage to the rear passenger fender and rim, I would like to know how it was determined that I experienced an incident to cause the bubble and was the individual who made that determination a qualified and experienced Tire and Wheel Professional? Since the replacement tire purchased by EZ Rental was a used tire, as stated on the invoice I received, was the tire with the bubble originally purchased NEW or also USED?? Please send a photo of the tire with the bubble as well as the rest of the tires on the vehicle to include tread wear and overall condition.
At the time of the rental I mentioned to the attendant that tires were excessively worn and would soon need replacement. Please also send me the name of the manufacturer of the tire with the bubble, model and date of manufacture as well as proof of purchase to include purchase date and total mileage driven on that tire. I am also requesting a written report of the incident that occurred before my rental period which caused the pre-existing damage to the fender and the rim.

I left behind a CD in the CD player. It was The Twilight Saga: Eclipse The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack. When I called the next day in attempt to recover said item, I was told to call back because the "lost and found" person wasn't there yet, which is acceptable because of the time I called was very early for local time. I call back and ask for the transfer there to said person. I get the voicemail and I leave a message. I call back a bit later, again, voicemail. I call back later and the person who kept transferring me suggested to email said person, which I did. That was 3 weeks ago... Still no response. I expected to be back in town next week and I would have picked it up then had I gotten ahold of said person that same day and asked them to hold onto it until that day but I obviously couldn't since I couldn't talk to nobody.
So now I have this to say... I will never NEVER RENT A VEHICLE from E-Z Rent-A-Car or any company affiliated with you again until either one of 2 things happen first. Either A, that same CD is mailed back to me, or B, this company buys me another and has it mailed directly to my address from wherever it's bought from I.E. Amazon.com or Bestbuy.com. I have rented from you multiple times in the past and spent a thousand or 2 each time I have. Travel to Seattle twice a year at least and plan on doing it for many many years to come. IDK about you guys, but you replacing my $15 CD for Thousands and Thousands and Thousands of $$$ in sales over the next many of years, seems like a good deal to me... And yes I'll rent a car from someone else over you wherever E-Z Rent-A-Car is an option over a $15 CD.

Made me sign a contract that I would not smoke in the car only to find out that when we received the car it stunk of cigarette smoke. We were behind schedule and had no time to do it all over. Cleaning was so so. Recorded wrong mileage on contract, 2K more than it should have been. People were courteous and friendly.

I reserved a car online via E-Z and it was 80 dollars for 2 days. When I returned the bill showed 220 dollars. After asking politely about the high price the employee told me that this price also includes the insurance for 25 dollar for the car/day. I told him that this still does not add up to the 220 dollars I paid. He told me he cannot do anything about the price. It is the normal price. Come on 110 dollars a day for a Hyundai Elantra!?! Total rip off in my opinion.
Good afternoon,
Thank you for the review. Along with other rental car agencies, we advertise the daily rate for our vehicles. Taxes, government fees and insurance prices are not included in daily rate quotes for any rental car company out there.
Once you proceed with the reservation it will outline all of the taxes and fees you can expect to pay. This will clearly show you exactly how much the vehicle will cost at pick up. I would be more than happy to look into the situation for you in attempt to find a mutually pleasing resolution. Please expect a private message from me here shortly. Thank you again for the review.

Someone renting a vehicle from this company rear-ended me over a week ago creating extensive damage to my vehicle. I reported the incident immediately to E-Z Rent-A-Car as the driver included the insurance on the vehicle. My insurance company, agent and myself has contacted the company multiple times (being placed on hold for 20 minutes or more each time) and are constantly given information on contacting the risk management department (Vania). We have all left messages and I have sent an email to that department, yet no one has responded. I informed them that I have had to go to the hospital and that my vehicle is no longer operational, still nothing from E-Z Rent-A-Car. If the insurance was paid for by the driver, I cannot understand why they would not respond. I am going to have to seek legal action if no one rectifies this.

I belong to E-Z's rental car club. I actually get discounts from another car rental company, but E-Z is always cheaper. If there is an E-Z Rent-A-Car outlet where I'm landing, I'll use them. I was pretty happy with the service overall. The car was a brand new Toyota Camry, and $131 for a full week. The price was reasonable. The car was new and the inside was clean enough. The outside was a little bit dirty, but it's a car rental. They turn cars over fast. Also, I was going to be a few minutes late returning it and I called them, and they said "No problem" and did not charge me. They're really flexible in that respect. My only complaint is during my second time with them. We were landing in San Diego, but the car has Nevada plates. Also, it had substantial scraps and scruff on it. Other than that, we had a great time with E-Z Rent-A-Car. I'm looking forward to getting to them in their San Diego hub.

Rented a car from E-Z Rent-A-Car for a week and returned it 2 days early on 8-6-15. EZ is owned by Advantage Rent A Car. When I reviewed my bank account to check for a return of my deposit I found that I was only credited for $30 of the $200 deposit I was charged. After 3 hours of dealing with "customer service" I learn that one of the employees took advantage of my early return and exchanged the car I had rented for another car and kept it for another week. After 3 hours of trying to resolve this theft of my money I receive an email from Dawn ** who is the customer service supervisor. She says "upper management" is requesting my itinerary to prove proof that I left Boston early.
I sent her a copy of my boarding pass and was hoping E-Z Rent-A-Car would do the right thing and credit my account with a full return of my deposit. She never responded and I spent another 2 hours dealing with "customer service" before realizing that I was wasting my time. The customer service ticket # is **. After dealing with E-Z Rent-A-Car and Advantage for over 5 hours and providing my boarding pass which proves that I left Boston in the afternoon on 8-6-15, it strongly appears that someone working for EZ/Advantage is a scammer and that they have a policy to delay and ignore in hopes that ripped off customers will just give up. This should not be allowed to happen. Please Help...
Good afternoon,
Thank you for letting us know about your experience. I am currently getting to the bottom of your complaint. You should receive a message from me a little later today. Thank you for your patience.

10-16-15, I rented from EZ rental for a quick trip to Florida. 30 min into my rental I have a blown tire on I95 North, no spare in the truck and 4 BALD tires on the car. I call Roadside assist, they send my call back to the counter at MCO. I was told they would get a car sent to me. When I asked how long it would take I was asked, "How long did it take for you to get where you are?" Sarcasm is not what I was looking for. 2 hours I sat on I95 in the blazing sun. After recalling MCO several times all I get is an answering machines and no one returning my call. I call back RSA and they have no record of my initial call. Finally a car arrives. It looks like it was in a demolition derby. After making the EZ rental guy walk the car with me coloring in all of the dents, dings and scratches we leave.
1 day later it rains in Florida and the windshield leaks and my feet are getting wet driving. I have called EZ to complain to CS and DAWN (manager) will not return my calls. HOW CAN YOU RENT CARS LIKE THIS? I rent a lot in Florida and I have NEVER experienced such crappy rentals. The convenience of AP pick up was really not worth the hassle from this rental. When I got back to the AP to drop the car off I find out that the car I was given was the maintenance car. I was told I had to go stand back in line at the terminal desk because they never switched the vehicles in their computer. Needless to say I refused to stand in line for 1 hour. I had a flight to catch and was not spending one more second dealing with this place. EZ is not the correct name for this place. Hazardous rentals with be a better name.
The lack of CS is amazing. Dawn, 1-407-674-1006, was suppose to return my call 4 days ago and everytime I call her she tells her staff to tell me she is working on it or she is in a meeting. Yes I got a good deal on my rental car. That doesn't mean I should have to get behind the wheel of an unsafe vehicle. I look for convenience when I travel, I don't want to spend 20 minutes on a shuttle and then 30 min standing in line at an off site rental company. My vacation time is important to me. I want every second I can get enjoying it. The most aggravating thing about this experience is the lack of concern from this company, refusal to answer the phone or return a call. The unsafe vehicles they place their clients in, I find this amazing. I could continue. This is a short version of my experience.

I booked this through Travelocity for me get to a conference with some colleagues. I went up to the counter, prepared to respond to the usual litany of insurance obligations, we will fill your tank, etc. To my surprise, I was asked whether I wanted full or partial insurance, to which I answered "None, I have coverage under my insurance." After providing the name of the insurance, the lady simply instructed me to initial declining insurance, gas, etc. I was then handed the key and given instructions to the location of my car. The car was clean. I noted the scratches and dents, and was shown the exit. All of this took approximately 20 minutes or so.
Upon return, after some friendly reminders (though slightly exasperated) to please follow the quite large signs indicating the location where the returning cars should be parked, the attendant checked everything off on a pad, took the keys, and pointed me to the terminal. Again, all of this under 10 minutes. I could've slept in another 30 minutes and still caught my flight... Great experience.

I will never rent from this company again! First of all, although I got a cheap rate of $10/day, I do not believe that means I should be given a car that sounds as though the muffler or back half of the car is about to fall off. Seriously, every time I stepped on the brakes, even when parked and not moving, the car made a grumbling sound that was audible to other vehicles not just to me, inside the car. The car did not look cleaned either.
Secondly, it took well over 20 minutes, possibly 30 minutes for the shuttle to pick up passengers either getting to the rental agency or to return them to the airport. A lady who had been waiting for the shuttle back to LAX before me actually left to get a taxi because she had been waiting so long. When the shuttle finally arrived the driver said nothing and didn't even offer to help me with my luggage even while he saw me struggling to lift my bag up each individual stair. I've never had a driver not offer to help. Absolutely horrible service!

I arrived in Florida thinking that I had a car booked with another company but because I did not have a credit card it did not go through. That was not explained to me while I was booking the car. I was told that I can use a debit card but that was not the case, so I went over to E-Z Rent-A-Car and I was able to get a car with a debit card within 10 minutes. The customer service was very helpful and the prices were fair. I'm just glad that they were there and I would definitely use them again.

We rented a car from McCarran Intl Airport in Las Vegas. We were supposed to have a Hyundai Accent and ended up with a Nissan Versa, which was wrecked when we got it, kept dying out and didn't run good at all. We told the agent about it and he stated that the car is like an 'old grandpa now as it has over 20,000 miles and there is nothing that he could do. Then we were quoted $101.03 for the rental car and when we checked out the car, we were told by Rizalina at the counter that we had to get extra collision insurance as it was policy to have the extra insurance. We tried to decline but were told we had to have this insurance due to E-Z's policy. We ended up getting billed $193.85. I emailed and still have yet to receive a response from customer service but I called and spoke to Yumerilis (?) at 10:06am on 09/24/2015 and was told that we were charged an additional $74.97 for 'additional insurance.'
I explained that we tried to decline it but were told we had to have it as it was 'policy'. I tried to tell her that we shouldn't be billed that extra money as we tried numerous times to decline but were told we had to have the extra insurance due to the 'policy of E-Z' but since we signed the contract, that we are out of luck. She said she don't know why we were told that as it is not their policy but there is nothing they can do as we can only dispute charges within 24 hours. Even if you add on the $74.97, it still doesn't total $193.85?!?! So not only are we out almost another $100, it takes up to 2 weeks to get the $200 deposit back.
We still have not gotten a response from the company on the emails we left. We will NEVER use this company again and we will tell anyone who will listen to NEVER use this company as it is nothing but a rip-off, as they quote you one thing but charge you more...

I have rented from E-Z Rent-A-Car before but this time around, it was the price that made us choose them - they had the best price. So I made my rental reservation online and the guy who handled the pickup and return was very quick and efficient. It was a really good experience overall. The process was efficient and the car was very nice. I didn't even have to really check out - I was expecting to drive out to the booth and have them look over the car, but they had already included a form for that and it was very accurate.
My only gripe is that they gave me an SUV as opposed to an economy car. The SUV was very clean but it was a real gas-guzzler and I would've much preferred the economy car. But they got me in and out so quickly that by the time I was going out the door, I figured it doesn't matter anyway. In my opinion, E-Z is better than Fox Rent a Car and I'd go with them again as long as the price is the best.

Thrifty and Alamo have joined together in Las Vegas, and with that, their lines became extremely long. I didn’t want to go through it and saw E-Z Rent there. I looked on their website and found out that E-Z provides cars that are available at a reasonable cost. I got a reservation online and was pleased with the company since the time and efficiency of getting the vehicle, and service was by far greater than some of the bigger companies. The day of the pick up was very nice, and the rep was very cordial. He explained what kind of car he was giving me and told me that I’d like the 2015 Kia Optima, so I was excited about it and it turned out really good. Dropping the car off was also a quick and efficient experience. Although I was late for the flight and tried to show him my gas receipt, he told me he didn’t even need to see it and just wanted to make sure the tank was full, and I was on my way. I’m very pleased with the company.

Reserved a car weeks ago just to learn when I picked up my car at the pick-up time that they overbooked and had no car for me. Their agent told me I would get a car from another company that would match my rate. But when the other company found out they had no car that would match, "E-Z Rent-A-Car" (Autorentals.com used for my booking) refused to make it right for me and asked me to pay a higher price at the other company to get a car. "E-Z Rent-A-Car" agent suggested alternatively that I could wait 3 hours for a possible car return. So, RENT CARS from Autorentals.com and "E-Z Rent-A-Car" AT YOUR OWN RISK.
They did not tell you this upfront until you found out the hard way. You don't know if you would get a car as they overbook to secure their revenue AT YOUR RISK AND EXPENSE. What if other companies that they send their customers to in similar situation happen to be out of cars? I would have been stranded in a new city or force to book a car from other company on the spot at a very high price. I ended up paying the extra out of my pocket as I had no choice. My family and I were visiting Toronto for the first time and we needed a car in order to commute. Upon arrival, I spent nearly 2 hours finding E-Z car rental, the company at which we reserved a car. This was due to the fact that almost nobody, not even the airport staff, knew the location of E-Z. I booked a car using rentalcars.com for one week. My booking reference number is **. The website said that the fee was $356.99 CAD (weekly rate: $220, and taxes and an additional fee of $136.99), but when I dropped off the car, I was told to pay $549.25 CAD, nearly 1.5 times the proposed fee. Of course, I was charged $45 (5/8 of the tank) for fuel usage, but I was presented with another unknown fee of $147.26, the reason of which I could not understand. I was not informed beforehand about these extra fees.
In addition, there were several safety issues with the car. Pressing the brake pedal of the car ends up shaking the car, and the brakes are ineffective, forcing me to wait a while before the car completely stops. Furthermore, the car's dashboard display consistently showed that the car's service was past due and that it needed an oil change. Lastly, there was trash strewn underneath the seats of the car, including a McDonald's fries container, a mug, and various other debris.
On the last day of our trip, I dropped off the car at E-Z in order to catch a plane at 8:30 am. While I was waiting for the reception, I noticed that there were a few other customers complaining at the front desk, resulting in an extraneous amount of waiting on our part. By the time we were finished with the reception, we rushed to the shuttle bus, but it was full. Running short on time, my family and I tried to board the bus and was told to wait 5 minutes for the next one. After waiting at least 25 minutes, the next shuttle picked us up, and by the time we arrived at the airport, we missed the airport check-in and was forced to re-book the flight.

I arrived at MCO (Orlando International Airport) and it was the first time I ever rented a car so didn't know about the deposit but that's something I should of asked and is not the complaint. I Returned the vehicle full tank of gas, same condition and even the lady had a slight attitude because of the car being banged up on the left passenger side but she stopped when I showed her the slip of paper that had already been signed saying that was previous damage.
I expected my deposit to be returned in 3-5 days, waited 7 days, gave them a call and was told the funds were released and to give my bank a call. I waited another day, saw the funds still were not in my account and called my bank only to find out they lied to me and in fact the funds were not released. Now I'm on day 8 trying to contact somebody. Apparently their website is down as well as all their phones. Here's my suggestion to anybody considering E-Z Rent-A-Car for a rental car - don't. I then called the 800# and some rude lady told me to hold on and then started blurting out some Ebonics to her co-worker and then they kept me on hold for 30 minutes and transferred me all over the place, then the call ended.
I then waited and called the 800# again and I asked the lady the deposit amount, and before I could even finish my sentence she rudely cut me off and stated "$200 $200"... What in the WORLD is wrong with these people? Whomever is the owner of E-Z Rent-a-Car, you either need to hire some new staff, stronger management or give these people more money. I grew up in a gang area and thank goodness I've learned how to conduct myself in a more professional manner at work. It's not that hard! You either want the job or you don't... We even have boarding passes with us to approve the time of arrival, but it didn't matter. We were stranded at 9 pm in Seattle without a car. To top the horrible experience with EZ, Orbitz sent us email next day stating that we owed them a service charge because we didn't pick up a car from EZ. Fortunately Alamo matched the price and upgraded the model. DO NOT USE EZ CAR RENTAL.
Good afternoon,
I am sorry for your experience with us. I would love to take a look into this problem for you. This seems awfully odd due to the fact we do not charge service fees like the one you've outlined. Please expect a private message from me, I am sure we can sort this out :)

I prepaid with CarRentals.com. I got to the Orlando International Airport, Luna was at the front desk and asked me where I was going. I told her, "Virginia," she then told me I wasn't allowed to take their car out of state. If I knew that I would have never rented the car. I asked for a refund. She refused with an attitude and laughed on top of that. I said, "Ok, fine. I'll stay local." She then said, "We allow 200 miles per day." I told her, "It says unlimited miles when I rented the car." She said, "No, not for locals."
I handed her my VA license and she said, "That doesn't matter." I said, "Why doesn't my VA license not work for you proving I'm not a local?" She spoke another language to her buddy next to her. Finally she said, "Fine, you have unlimited miles!" She then overcharged me for my deposit even though it clearly said 30% of your total rental. Even though the name of the company is E-Z rentals, not one thing is EZ about them! They are crooks, con-artists, thieves, and extremely rude! I will NEVER rent from that crooked company. Worst customer, back-alley company I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with!
Good afternoon,
I am sorry for your negative experience when renting with us. Our policy clearly states that our vehicles can not be taken out of the state (unless specifically approved my management). We prepaid a car for 2 days at a special online rate for $84. Booked an online reservation with E-Z car rental. All included taxes and fees totalled $84. Now that my husband returned the car there are all these hidden cost to inflate the 2 day rate @ $27. Total charges are $141.17. Why didn't E-Z rental review with passengers of these fees upon pick up? What are the 4 additional charges - airport access fee, vehicle license, surcharge??? customer facility charge? Where did all these fees come into play??
In the past we have rented from Avis, Hertz, Enterprise and Alamo and we have never been hit with these ridiculous charges. Isn't it the responsibility of E-Z rentals to point out these charges online and also at the terminal counter before taking the car rental? Their response when confronted was that we had to contact them with 24 hours of the return. We did so within 48 hours which was not sufficient and what difference would it make when the charge was on our credit card?

We rented from E-Z for two summer vacations, on both trips we ended up paying 30 - 50% more than the quote. The second trip we had to put air in a tire twice a day for 9 days. In Florida air costs 4 quarters, try finding 4 quarters twice a day for 9 days. Augh! In Florida we were quoted $711 for a mini van, by the time they added on all the hidden fees we owed over $1000 they brought out a dodge mini van. We told them we really liked the Toyota mini van we rented from them on our previous trip in Colorado. They said we would have to pay a few hundred more for a Toyota in Florida. Never again.
Good afternoon,

White Toyota RAV4 rented @ DFW 1 week. Many marks and scrapes on this 16K mi car. Notes were made at point of rental, and a complete walk around upon return. 4 weeks later I receive an email with pictures of some white RAV 4 stating they are making a damage claim on some minor scratches on the bottom of black plastic fascia on rear bumper. I totally deny that was my doing. They checked it in. Who knows what happened after that. If it were mine, I'd simply black touch up. Lord only knows how much they will attempt to extort from me. I have already forwarded information to my attorney. If you look up BBB and other consumer complaints this is a pattern with EZ Rental. LET THE RENTER BEWARE!

EZ Rent A Car is the worst. I would never use them or recommend them. I never wrote a review but this is my first. At the time I went to pick up my rental I was pressured to buy the EZ pass even though I told the guy I was only gone on Rt .95 then into Boca, no place else. He kept saying a toll booth could pop up anywhere. I gave in and got it. Then I heard the person next to him giving the same spiel to her customers who agreed too but looked a bit confused by it. I realized he should know no tolls on 95 so I am trying to dispute it and get that part refunded but guess what... There is no customer service anywhere, and still waiting for a return call or email. There are many other rent a car dealers to use and I would recommend any would be better than EZ...

My husband and I rented a car July 29-30, 2015. We returned the car without any hiccups. Everything was great. We got back home for a few days and I realized that I had possibly left my calendar in the car. I started calling the Las Vegas facility at 1 pm (my time) and could NEVER get ahold of anyone. I ended up leaving 2 messages within a 3 hours span. I called almost every 10 minutes until I left work at 4:45 pm (my time). I did however call the reservation extension at 4:30ish and had them transfer me to the Las Vegas facility. Someone DID answer but put me on hold immediately and then I was on hold for 22 minutes. I had to hang up because my place of business was closing the doors. So I went home and tried calling again. I again could not get ahold of anyone.
So I called the reservation line again and the lady I spoke to said that the Las Vegas facility is awful at not answering their phones and keeping people on hold for long periods of time. She gave me the customer service number and said I would have to call tomorrow (Aug 4) because they had already closed for the day. So I asked her if she could try to connect me to the Las Vegas facility and she said she would try. A lady answered and said that she was transferring me to lost & found (so I am assuming that the lady from reservations had explained what I was needing). I WAS ON HOLD FOR 1 HOUR & 7 MINUTES!!! Are you kidding me??? I kept my cool until after being on hold for over an hour, I was hung up on!!! I lost it. I called back to the reservations line and totally flipped out on whoever answered.
I apologized and said I know it was not her fault but I was LIVID by this point!!! She connected me to the Las Vegas facility and the gentleman that picked up was very rude and immediately transferred me to Lost & Found and then after being on hold yet again for about 10 minutes this time I was hung up on AGAIN!!! I calmly called the reservations line again and asked to be connected to the Las Vegas facility. The lady that answered was nice (her name was Susie) and I begged and pleaded for her not to put me on hold or transfer me. She at that point asked me to explain what was going on. I calmly explained to her (I was almost in tears at this point) what was going on and how long I had been trying to get in touch with someone to check for my calendar. I wouldn't be so concerned BUT it is my work calendar and has EVERYTHING in it including my time card (which has all my info on it... name, address, social, etc).
Susie said that she was going to take all my info and would have to call me back. It would probably be at least an hour before she would be able to call me back because she was personally going to go & check for it. Well that was 6:45 pm last night. I have not heard from anyone and I tried calling again this morning and yet again CANNOT get ahold of anyone. This is the worst experience I have EVER had with any kind of company or anything for that matter. I am expecting something to be done about this and I am expecting someone to contact me on this issue. I again apologize for anything I said to the one lady but at that point I had lost it.

DENVER LOCATION - I previously left a poor rating due to a dispute in my bill. I am so sorry! Having my final charges come through 3 days after return from vacation for $250 more than I was charged for, I did not get a response for a request for my bill when I asked via email. Two days later I got that sinking feeling I had made a bad choice for a rental company. I went online and proceeded to read similar complaints of overcharges and promises of return funds, that never got returned. I self-diagnosed my situation and in a huff left a scathing review of my experience, which was true but assumptive in the end.
Finally, I got a very helpful gentleman whose name I wrote down but cannot locate today. He was able to determine by my specific notation of pick up and drop off, what had happened. It was a late return, that got checked into the system the following day, and I had fallen into a weekly rate.
Two days later, JUST as he promised my refund of $250 was in my account! Consumers just need to know that when you find a great deal such as EZ there are going to be OTHER charges. Just be careful and play by their rules (don’t smoke in car and get charged $300 cleaning fee), and it really is POSSIBLE to travel that inexpensively! Thank you, EZ and we will return!

Had a semi pleasant experience with picking up the car. They were severely understaffed with only one person working the entire operation other than the shuttle. Agreed to a $20 a day upgrade to get 4WD. Only car available had just been returned so I took it as is figuring it was raining and would get washed anyway. Lone guy ran out, pulled it up to the curb, and I was off. Nice car!!! Returned it right on time with exactly the 3/4 tank I left with. A week later a charge goes through for $250 more than I signed for. I called, stayed on hold for an hour. I emailed a very pleasant request for review of charges and no one will answer my request or explain why I was overcharged. I don't smoke so it can't be that and even if I was charged for gas it couldn't be THAT much for a 1/4 of a tank??? Angry. I paid fair price, took all their upgrades, and still got scammed.

Company looks for any reason to charge you more than the agreed price. When I brought the car back I was charged for an extra day because I was a few hours late. Other rental companies give you a window, accounting for traffic etc. They reversed the charge when I noticed it. They then charged my credit card a $50 administrative fee for a $2 or $3 toll they claim I did not pay while traveling. Steer clear of this company. Once they get your credit card number, they will create ways to overcharge you.
Good afternoon,
I apologize for the overcharge. I am glad to hear that we were able to fix this for you. As for the toll charges, it is clearly stated on our contract that if you deny our E-Z toll pass, administrative fees would occur if you ended up traveling through toll roads without paying.
If you are disputing that you did not pass through a toll road, I would be more than happy to search that for you and see what indeed happened.

When I get my bill they charged me for another day of $102.4 more than the 2 days I rented the car. I called and left a message. I sent an email and message and finally I was able to get hold of their people in Orlando. She said it was peak season and any excess of hours they charged another day. I spoke to LAX EZ people that they charged after 2 hours and in their agreement, it says 3 hours to consider a day. This is a scam. I advise to everyone never rent a car from this company. According to my records, I do see that we refunded you that $200 to your credit card. You left your initial deposit in the form of cash, or policy is that you would then pick up that deposit upon your return. Since that did not happen the process of funding your card with the deposit would understandably take a bit of time. Would you please be able to confirm the refund to your card?

I had a great experience with my whole rental process until I returned a vehicle on 7/6/15. I rented a white Toyota Sienna and it was a nice clean vehicle and the staff was friendly and helpful on the day of checkout. I live in Colorado Springs and my rep was informative and let me know about the 150/day mileage limit and other info that I was unaware of. For the duration of the rental, I had the keys to the Sienna attached to a 2 inch blue hook ring, along with the smart key to my personal vehicle. My wife and I drove her car back home to Colorado Springs and I then realized that I left the key to my personal car hooked to the bright blue key ring in the ignition of the vehicle we had just rented. I called back and the staff stated that the vehicle was still on the lot and placed me on hold to look. Two different men came back to say they would check.
One told me that he did not see the ring. I realize this may be a matter of my word versus his, but I find it disturbing because I am 100% positive my key was in the ignition on the ring at the time I dropped vehicle off just an hour and a half prior. I made it a point to clearly describe the FORD smart Fob/key and the fact that it was not misplaced under a seat or something like that, but on a key ring attached to the key that one of your reps had to see while removing the key from the vehicle. I travel quite a bit and this was my first time using E-Z rental. I was so pleased with the service up until this point. It upsets me that someone has probably kept the fob and possibly does this regularly when patrons call back for missing fobs or other items that can be resold or of significant value. Unfortunately, now I will have to have my car towed and spend over $300 in replacement and towing fees to have another key coded. Thanks to a dishonest employee.
This may or may not fall on deaf ears, but if others have made similar reports, maybe the person responsible will be identified. Furthermore, I called back to speak to a manager a little later around 4:30 pm on the same Tuesday and was told that he was in a meeting. I asked for the manager's name and was told "Todd" was in a meeting. I asked for a last name and was told that that information is not shared, nor did they know when the meeting would end. I asked for the male rep's name that was assisting me and was told it was "Abby." The rep ended our conversation abruptly and hung up on me immediately afterwards.
Good afternoon,
I am sorry for the experience you had with us. While I understand you are upset about your key missing, you are accusing our agents of being dishonest and stealing the key. I think you would agree that there is very little incentive for one of our agents to steal and lie about a random key left behind.

Three weeks after returning the car at LAX E-Z RAC tried to run the card to pay for $121.23 for the toll and fees. Never saw a bill, no call, etc, never had any inkling, BUT I did read the tiny print on the contract and there it was. HOWEVER the card issuer knew I was not in Florida and declined it. Knowing it was useless to get mad, I had a month of calls never returned, e-mails never answered, even offered to send my son who lives in Kissimmee over there but never could get any paperwork -- and finally the card issuer made arrangements with me that they would allow the card to be run, within a deadline of 5 days. Didn't happen.
BUT -- remember I said a MONTH? In the MAIL there was a letter from the California Tolls -- apparently it goes back to them after a certain amount of time. In it I was (as a first time infringer) allowed to pay the original toll of $6.45 on the net. And even though I had written my new best friends at E-Z RAC to hurry there was a deadline, they still tried to run it the week after. They must be seriously understaffed is the best thing to assume. No point in getting mad, settling this was a contractual obligation, but it sure took a while!

I rented car in Las Vegas, to drive home to San Diego. I was not informed there would be HOURLY rates charged if the car was not returned PRECISELY 24 hours after the "Due In" time. I checked the paperwork to find the drop-off location and found nothing. Had to call to find out where to deliver the car. I had made plans to bring the car to the airport because the paperwork indicated "SAN". Changing plans for a ride home took some time, and I delivered the car two hours "late", resulting in fees and charges costing more than an entire DAY! They Equated to $57.50 per hour.
When I expressed shock at these charges, I was told that I should have asked for a map... Really?! Of course, when I asked to speak with the manager, "she" was not available. This contradicts the company's claim that their staff is always available. I was handed a business card with a phone number hand written on the back. I was really scared and didn't know what to expect when I picked up the car. Well I wanted to say this because it needs to be said! I was not pressured into purchasing their extra ins. nor was anything changed from my confirmed quote. Price was the best out of any of them. I got a Nissan Altima. When returning the car no problems at all and the price stayed the same..
Only negative: The place they are suppose to pick up at was hard to find but after calling twice we found it on our own. The low windshield wash light was on and the steering had some play in it. They provide contradicting information to customers as well. I rent cars when I travel and this is the first time I used EZ. This is also the first time the low tire pressure warning turned on and the car did not come with a full tank of gas. This shows that they do not maintain their cars like reputable car rental companies are expected to. Contrary to what I was told by the rep at the LAX office, a $200 hold was placed on my Credit Card and they would not provide authorization to my credit card company to release the hold. This charge is more than 20% of my overall credit limit which can negatively affect my credit score. I spoke with a manager (I think her name is ** or something similar). The actual cost of the toll is less than $10 and there is no way to pay the toll on the road. One can pay afterward online and that is what we did, but the payment was ignored. In other words, we paid some $160 for twice 16 m. on a toll road.
I have two essential complaints: Since the Californian toll system is organized so that it can shortchange tourists, a car rental company should warn customers and encourage them to get a pass for the tolls. As the added image shows, the total paid in toll violations by the rental company on a single day was more than $10,000. That is clearly not unique. It is a racket. I was charged by E-Z Car and they took $25 extra administration costs. For complaints (I HAD made one payment online) one is sent to the State: "contact the state to dispute. If the violation is dropped by state, a letter of dismissal from state must be forwarded to our company before any compensation can be made." Of course that is no option for someone living in another continent. E-Z Car is not a firm to do business with.

We used them for our DENVER trip. Paid extra to have a mid-size suv with all wheel drive. They assured me I'd have a Grand Cherokee or equivalent and we got a KIA which is a compact suv. They talked us into getting the extra full coverage insurance and we went for it since it was a BLIZZARD. The vehicle had been sideswiped which they didn't bother to tell us. My husband had to go back in and tell them. They assured us it was ok since we had the extra insurance. "Uh, what about driving around in a wrecked car?"
The gas tank was almost on E and did I mention it was a blizzard? Thanks goodness we put gas in it before we hit the interstate! Returned the vehicle same as we got it and now a month later they are HARASSING us for $588 to replace a cracked windshield, and oh btw they forgot to mention that's not covered in their "full coverage" insurance! Tried calling them and using my kindest negotiation tactics and was met with a rude, "sorry lady. I don't know what to tell you!"
So, two things we've learned: 1. NEVER deal with this company!!! I have read (now after the fact) hundreds of complaints on this site and others; 2. If you already have full coverage car insurance, you don't need to purchase the extra insurance they push on you. Our agent at Farm Bureau let us know that. They are now taking care of this "problem" for us. This company is running quite a racket selling these expensive "extra" insurance policies and then going after innocent consumers to have new tires and windshields replaced since that's "not covered". I guess the only way they are still in business is because people like me didn't do their research first!

I travel a lot and I am a frequent car renter. E-Z Rent A Car is the worst. Stay away from them. If you happened to have reserved a car from them, here is a trick that could get you. First, let me tell how I learned this trick. At pick-up in Seattle airport office, the agent asked me whether I wanted to buy their collision issuance or just use my primary insurance. I told them I would use my primary insurance and I did NOT want to buy their insurance. The agent then asked what was my insurance company. I said Farmers. He nodded with a big smile in his face. It all appeared natural and easy. Then the agent pulled out a contract and showed me which space I needed to put my initial and signature in. I did exactly as he said. Guess what, I was charged for $114 for their collision insurance in the invoice after I returned the car.
I call them about this two days later. They told me that I signed at the line "I accept the Collision Damage Waiver 500 (LPC) 10.99 per day". Stupid me, all I recall is that I saw the word "Waiver", and I had asked the agent if that meant I don't buy their insurance. He said yes! My phone calls were answered by different people. The person named ** was an extremist; she claimed that she was the boss of that place. She was arrogant and rude. She showed absolutely no intention to help. No one else did.
Every time I called, I had to explain the situation all over again. They then promise to look into it and call me back but never did. I called the headquarter in Florida for help, and it turned out to be a waste of time. Now you know the trick. Beware of this line, don't sign this line "I accept the Collision Damage Waiver 500 (LPC) 10.99 per day" if you don't want buy their insurance. And better yet, don't rent from E-Z Rent A Car - It not easy.

Reserved mid-size rental car for 4-6-15, 7:05 at lax thru Priceline. After arriving at terminal, went directly to shuttle pick-up area where I waited 1.5 hours for a shuttle that never came. Called e-z several times and finally talked to a live person. She asked what terminal I was at and told me “shuttle was one terminal down and would be there in minutes”. Great! Well I waited another 30 minutes and was about ready to pass out from exhaust fumes, so finally caught next shuttle and ended up at "thrifty" where I spent another hour and paid an additional $100.00 for same size car I reserved thru "e-z". I missed a dinner and went to bed with a terrible headache. Even if it possible that I happen to miss a shuttle, why would it take an hour to an hour and a half and still not see another one. I counted anywhere from 10 to 20 of other individual shuttles while waiting for mine.

Agent ** was very polite; asked if we wanted rental insurance or toll fast track pass...we declined both...he was not at all pushy. E-Z Rent-A-Car is the worst organization I've ever dealt with. My car broke down in a flood in Florida and they took an hour to answer the phone when I called to notify them. Eventually, the police came and towed the car. E-Z took 3 hours to finally update me and send me a new car. 3 days later, after I had already told them twice where the car was towed to, they called me confused because they didn't know where the car was. I was extremely frustrated as I had already told them 3 times where it was. Eventually, I called the tow company who confirmed to me that the car was indeed picked up. I called E-Z back to make sure everything was squared away, and again, they were impossible to get a hold of. 3 days later they charged my credit card AN ADDITIONAL $376... I've filed a dispute with my credit card company and am awaiting the result of that.

They did not tell me why, they provided no pictures as proof, and additionally, they didn't even give a written description of what was wrong, only that SOMETHING was wrong.
However, they provided me with about 2 pages of different ways to pay. Oddly enough, the report was written 5 days AFTER I turned in the car. I immediately looked online and apparently this car rental company is known for doing this! Saving the few dollars is not worth getting caught up in FRAUD!!

We asked to speak to a manager but were told one was not there on a Saturday morning at 7 am. We took the shuttle to the Car Rental Center and found the EZ desk strangely separated from all other rental companies. Probably for noise protection from outraged customers. We went to the counter and showed them the confirmation e-mail we received from EZ and we're told that they had cancelled our reservation! But no matter, they still had plenty of cars including a mid-sized like we had requested. The only difference was that now we would be charged the "Walk Up" price which was $200 more! I showed them the quote that they had given me and was told it didn't matter, that was the way they did things.
I asked to talk to a manager and was told that the rude person we were talking to was the most senior on duty. I then asked who the day manager was and was refused an answer. Since we were at the rental center and there were several other companies around, we went to another large national brand where we were treated well and courteously, We will NEVER consider EZ again and will recommend that no one else ever be taken in by them. So after being on hold for one hour and being transferred to several different people someone finally said that their cards would be refunded. Back on January 8th, I paid for a car rental through carrentals.com with EZ car rentals. My "prepaid reservation" was **. We made the reservation for the Seattle Airport for 11 am on Saturday, January 17. Due to personal schedule issues we were not able to arrive until about 4:30 or 5. Upon our arrival to the EZ car rental desk, nothing went well. Brian was their customer service representative at the time. He asked for my name and quickly told me that because we were late our car had been rented out to someone else and they had no more compacts. Brian stated by their policy they were only obligated to hold the reservation for two hours. I asked reservation? I not only had a reservation I paid for the car in advance?
I asked how that would be possible given the fact that I had prepaid in full in advance more than a week prior? I told Brian that given the fact that I had paid for the car rental in advance it should have sat there and waited for me all the way through Tuesday morning if need be, which was the turn in date of the rental agreement. Brian just smiled?
After hearing there were no more compact vehicles available I asked Brian how he was going to resolve this for me? Brian stated the best that he would be able to do is upgrade us to a full-size vehicle. I said that's fine as long as it's at no expense to us? Brian responded no whatever the upgrades were from a compact it would be as an incremental expense to us. I asked Brian if I could speak to the manager? Brian responded that the manager was off for the weekend. I asked Brian who is there that is empowered to make a decision in order to make a customer happy? Brian said he was the only one there and there was nothing he could do.
Bottom line, after all of our frustrations we upgraded to a full-size vehicle and paid the incremental $20+ all because Brian and EZ car rentals did not care one bit about customer service. There is nothing "easy" about customer service at EZ car rentals! We will never ever go back to EZ car rentals. A very unhappy carrentals.com customer...

Before I start, have you ever taken a moment to look at the E-Z Rent-A-Car reviews throughout the internet? (Consumer Affairs, Rip Off Report...too many to list here). It is staggering to see the kind of organization that E-Z Rent-A-Car has built. When using E-Z Rent-A-Car for the first time, we were treated as if we were a bother and a nuisance. This should have been the first clue to leave the counter and move 20 feet away to Enterprise. We have made our minds to do that now, but then, we gave your employees the benefit of the doubt that perhaps it was a bad day for them.
We pulled into our hotel to be told by the staff that our tire was flat. We immediately called AAA to change the tire. The AAA attendant showed us the nail in the tire. We immediately went to have the tire replaced and even called the E-Z rental staff to let them know that they had a nail in the tire. We are not sure when the nail was in the tire, only that the AAA attendant said it had been there for quite some time. When we reached the E-Z rental staff in Dallas, they informed us that we needed to replace the tire with the EXACT tire that was on the car all around - brand and style. We attempted to comply with this request by visiting numerous local tire stores. We did not want to drive far because it was a cheap spare not meant to drive far. The only place that carried the tires, locally, was a shop that said it had to be ordered because it was a specialized brand. We asked for an invoice, which they supplied.
We called the E-Z rental staff to see what we would need since there was no way to get a tire during our vacation there. They informed us that we would need to drive to the airport (many miles away) to return the car for a different one and that we would be responsible for the tire because of the nail. (remember, we have no proof that the nail was not already in the tire when we drove out of the rental car area). Afraid of driving on the long drive to the airport on a spare, we did so anyway. After all, we just spent the entire day of our vacation running around looking for a tire because the E-Z staff told us this was required. (of that alone, I am appalled).
When we reached the airport to exchange cars, they gave us another car that was not running right. It would not go into gear from the parking mode. Yes, we know that the brake must be applied and the button pressed, but it still would not go in gear. Our family, whom we visited, was astounded that they had to wait an average of 5 minutes for us to get the gear from park to reverse or drive. (we have video of this by the way). The car would surge ahead when at a stop. We never could figure out the issue, but we did report it. No one ever cared that we had a shoddy car, yet paid full price for the rental. This was the worse experience with a rental car company that we have had. In fact, nothing comes close to this! Run - do not use this company for any reason.

Now, I rented a car from them through Priceline (wanted to get the points) and as usual got a great deal for a great car. A Toyota Camry with all the whistles for an economy car is a great deal. At any rate, rented it on December the 18th in the morning, returned it 2 days later after only used it for 58 miles (I was on a business trip and wanted it to go out and have dinner, get any last minute things before my big trip overseas of 3 weeks, etc.). Returned the car after filling up the tank (about $10 worth of gas) with no problems. Woman went outside, check the car and the odometer and sent me my merry way.
What is my surprise when I get back from my overseas trip to find a letter from them stating that I had over $700 worth of damages. Sadly this was Friday afternoon and by the time I realized this, the office was closed already (conveniently opened from 8 am to 3 pm Monday though Friday). Monday Morning I call at 8 am and get a lady who takes my information and tells me she'll contact the rental place and get back to me. I thought...so there is no paper work that went with the claim? how's that possible? Of course I KNOW I didn't do any damage to the car but if they are going to have the nerve to put a claim together and send it to me, at the very least have the paper work to support it handy, right? Are they expecting people just to send them a check???
I gave them a couple of days and called back Thursday. Got same woman, gave me same response. Now it's Monday of the following week, have yet to hear from them. I already let Priceline know what happen and will keep writing everywhere. If they think they can just take money away from me they are dealing with the wrong person.

I reserved two vehicles in San Juan, Puerto Rico on December 3rd and when I arrived at the airport Christmas Day I called their designated number to have their shuttle pick up my family and me. At that time I was told that they had NO VEHICLES to give me. After some heated discussion I requested that they at least provide their shuttle to take us to our hotel for the night. They agreed after several calls and promised that two vehicles would be dropped off at the hotel the following morning between 8 and noon...no cars arrived and no one called.
At this point it was after noon so I decided to send my family ahead by taxi to our destination an hour away which cost me $100. Again, many phone calls later, I managed to get them to pick me up and take me to their rental location where I was promised that, when a particular blue Jeep was returned in about 20 minutes, it was mine and that they would give me a discount to offset the cab fare. Well when the blue Jeep finally did come in over an hour later, and I inquired why it was sitting out back and not being prepped, I was informed the manager was reserving that car for someone else. Once again, I had to lose my cool in order to get results in the form of a Jeep Compass (I had reserved a full-size car).
When it came time to return the vehicle, I was charged the same price I was originally quoted for the full-size vehicle I never received and no discount. I was told they would send an email to someone named Sandy to see about a discount...I'm not holding my breath. DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS RENTAL COMPANY...I GUARANTEE YOU WILL NOT BE TREATED ANY BETTER. When we finally got hold of someone about a half hour later, we were told that there were no cars available, and might not be for days. We later learned that they left eight other customers like us stranded that night. There was no warning about this, nothing to alert us that we'd be stranded at the airport in the middle of the night with no transportation. We took a $50 cab ride to our hotel, and spent the next three days trying to get a rental from this company. They seldom answer the telephone, and although they assure you that they'll have something the next day, they NEVER call you back with information. I have no idea which contact may have prompted them to refund as they sent no info. I just received a alert from my credit card co. of the credit. I up grade my star-rating to two stars again for this business practice of charging without giving you the chance to pay. Otherwise my experience with EZ was OK. On 11/14/14 one of my brothers and I flew to Tampa to visit our younger brother who lives in an "assisted living facility" in Clearwater. I reserved a car with EZ which we picked up and had a great weekend. We flew back home on 11/16/14. I thought we had done very well with the cost of the trip as we had not seen our brother in several years partly due to the fact that I am retired and on social security. I could barely afford the trip.
On 12/23/14 I received an alert from my credit card company of four additional charges from EZ. Upon contacting them they said it was for unpaid tolls and "administration costs". One toll, $0.76 and another for $1.87. Two charges for $25.00 each for the administration charges ($50 total). After calling my brother we recalled that we saw signs for a toll road (The CrossTown) and did in fact use it for a short distance but could not find a place to pay a toll as we exited. We decided it may have been like a toll bridge in South Alabama where the toll was dropped after the bridge was paid for. At any rate, I was never offered a chance to pay the tolls. They were charged to my credit card. And, even though both times were on the same day, I was charged 2 of these so called administration charges of $25.00 each. But wait... I can do you even better.
This morning, 12/26/14 I received another alert from my credit card company for two more charges. This time for $0.79 (toll charge) and $25.00 (Administration charge). Again, EZ show their famous business practices. I would recommend to everyone to avoid this company at all costs. I'm not sure my saga is over as yet. I contacted the company and was told that I should have read the fine print found in the garbage (that you could barely see) on the back of my contract.

October 2014 we rented from LAX for a 3 week road trip. First issue is the tire warning light was on. I immediately let the rep at the customer service desk know about it and he said it's a new car and kicked all 4 tires and said it should go off soon. The light never went off... took it to a tire store a week later where they said the front tire was dangerously low and we were lucky it didn't blow on the highway. Second issue is I was not informed the car couldn't leave the state of CA. I needed the car for a road trip through NV, CA and AZ which I expressed to the customer service desk at LAX. Only later in NV when I called about tire did I learn that I couldn't take the car to AZ. Had to drive from Las Vegas back to LAX and find a new rental company. Third problem, they wouldn't let my husband be a second driver at no charge because we have different last names on our ID's. California state law states that the renter of a vehicle that starts and finishes in CA can lawfully include their spouse as a driver on the rental agreement for no additional charge.
They wouldn't authorize it even when I proved we were married with my marriage certificate. Fourth issue...just got my CC statement and EZ Rent a car charged me $150 for admin tolls. Mind you I crossed through only two tolls in California. The first one was closed and was stated, "NO TOLLS" when we passed through, the second one was $2 which I paid cash. Not sure then where these SCAM toll charges come from. I called my credit card company and they said there are tons of complaints regarding this, and they consider it fraud and had to close my CC. Thanks EZ Rent a Car for the worst rental experience!

I booked a rental online through carrentals.com for an economy car from EZ Rent A Car in Dallas. I thought I was getting a good deal as I was on a budget. The rental was paid online right away. When I got to Dallas after various delays and layovers with my flights, I was asked for my credit card at the counter. The agent said it was for any incidentals. He then asked me to sign and initial. What I didn't realize was in my tired state one line was for the additional insurance that I didn't need.
When I returned the car, I noticed an additional charge of $150, making my weekend car rental cost nearly $400, more than my plane ticket. I called the DFW location when I got home and questioned the charge, they quickly dismissed me and told me what the "fees" were listed on my sales slip. It was the insurance. I tried to explain that I had not wanted the insurance and felt mislead. The agent was very rude and again dismissed me. I asked for the customer service number which I could not get through to anyone on. I searched for another number that didn't work, so I resorted to email. I was emailed back a generic "we received your email" message and a 10% off coupon.
It's been 3 months and no one has yet returned an email or shown any kind of concern for the customer. I had an issue with a rental car one other time in my life, and the company resolved it immediately. This company clearly does not care about retaining business from clients. I would not recommend renting from this company to anyone traveling.

Besides the unfriendly customer service folks, we were given a car with a previously damaged tire. When it went flat about 20 miles south of the airport the customer service rep told me he guessed I should take it to someplace to get it fixed. Since it was previously damaged, they were not able to repair the tire and stranded, we had to purchase a new tire. When we returned the car not only did they not assume responsibility for the damaged tire, they told us we would be charged for another new tire if the one we bought didn't match the original!

Reserved for 11am, I had to work so I arrived at 4. Called to have a shuttle pick me up at JFK, spoke to the man to send the shuttle, he said it would only take 10 minutes. It was very cold in NYC Friday November 7th, I ended up waiting 20 minutes and had to call twice to see what was taking so long. The shuttle shows up and takes me to some park and ride facility lot. There was an E-Z rental sign on the inside but the company was Drivo. The guy had my reservation I asked him, why did it take so long. He said I spoke to the jersey office, which wasn't true because I was called from a 718 number twice which I have in my phone as proof. Anyway when he looked up my reservation, he said it was from Expedia. I never ordered a car from Expedia in my life. I ordered from Cheaptickets.com. This little foreign man, (I don't know what his nationality was) he tells me that he doesn't have any more midsize cars and he is going to have to downgrade me. I said what??? Most places will give a free upgrade, not downgrade. He says okay, looks into his computer and says "Oh we only have Jeeps so I will have to charge you an extra $5 a day."
I said, "you will absolutely not. It's not my fault you don't have midsize cars. I'm supposed to get a free upgrade." He says to me, "ma'am your reservation was at 11am and it's now 4:45pm." I said things happen and I had to go to work first. He said, "it's a jeep ma'am, it's just going to be $28 more." I said, "How do you know I can afford that." He says, "well I can see if another company will take you at the same rate." Then a few moments later he says no one will accept the rate. I said, "so now what, I'm not paying you anymore money," he says, "I'm not renting you anything, I will take you back to the airport." I said, "what are you talking about, I'm not yelling at you, I'm not throwing anything at you. I have a huge headache and you are giving me the run around, just give me what you have, I have to go." He said - "ma'am it's not my problem you have a headache." I said "wow!! really." He then said, "I'm refusing to rent to you because I don't like the way you're talking to me."
I said, "you have given me 3 different stories about what you can do and now you are refusing to serve me. Are you kidding me. There is no sign in here that says you can refuse me service, what kind of customer service is this. You are going to rent me a car, I'm not leaving. I have someplace to be in an hour and you have wasted enough of my time and I have no choice right now but to take what you have." I then told him what I did for a living, and went to searching through my phone. All of a sudden he got nice and said, "I have a car for you and I will give you 5% off." I said, "whatever." Then he said, "I had to return the Vehicle by 11am", which was my original time. That wasn't right considering I didn't get the vehicle until 5pm. Then he gives me the worst car on the lot. A little Hyundai Accent, with dents and holes in the seats, every seat but one had holes in it. There were stains on the drivers side, there wasn't a remote for the doors which were electric, I had to use the key every time I locked the doors.
This is 2014, all doors should be automatic, I believe he took the remote off the key ring out of spite. He told me he sent my receipt in my email before I left and when I check it he had not done so, until I returned the car at 7:45am Monday morning. I will never ever rent from E-Z Rental again or any subsidiary. They suck!!!

June 10, 14 we rented a car in Denver, CO. (Our first time renting) A silver Toyota. We put less than one hundred miles on it. When we returned it at 6:00 in the morning, a women came out with a clipboard and wrote down the mileage, looked at the car and told us we were good to go. Two months later we received a bill for over $2200. For damages! We tried to contact them with no avail. We contacted our car Ins. Co who we had taken out an extra policy for the rental. They were able to contact EZ who faxed pictures of a smashed in rear drivers side door and panel. Damage that would have been very obvious when we returned the car. The pictures only showed the damage, we have no way of knowing if it was the same car, but it was silver.
After much debate they faxed the report which showed the mileage had incurred 610 miles at the time of the inspection from the mileage at the start of our trip. Obviously this damage was done after we returned the car, knowing we put less than one hundred miles on it! After more debate with the company and pointing out the discrepancies, they decided to disregard their bill for over $2200.00 to us! We believe they were trying to bill us because we didn't take out their insurance, but who knows! I WOULD DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMEND EZ CAR RENTAL!

He stated that the shuttle service was an entitlement and we should be grateful he even showed up. Upon arrival at rental facility, he called up one of the passengers and asked him to step outside to fight. The passenger refused and the driver called him a **. The female clerk behind the counter did or said nothing to the driver and when we asked to speak with a manager, she stated there was none available and there was nothing she could do and that was the drivers typical demeanor. When we finally got our vehicle, it smelled like air freshener but it was just masking the odor that eventually overcame us. Cigarette smoke and rotten milk. If all I could say was the customer service was horrible, that would be acceptable for a company like E-Z Rent-A-Car since you would not expect it. We rented a car in Texas, in which the entire area is under construction. When we reached our hotel we found that we had a flat tire. The nail could have been in the tire when we rented it, we do not know. We called AAA who then changed the tire. We called the local E-Z Rent-A-Car company to see about a replacement car since driving around our vacation with a spare tire was not an option. The staff at E-Z Rent-A-Car at the Dallas Airport informed us that WE were responsible for replacing the tire with the EXACT tire to match the other three.
They also informed us that they do not exchange cars without us driving back to the airport to return the car. We searched for 3 hours to find the EXACT tire which we finally found was not an in-stock item unless you go to the dealer. The tire would cost us almost $300.00. We chose to drive back to the E-Z Rent-A-Car to exchange cars so that we could enjoy time with our family, rather than running all over Dallas to find a tire as requested by the E-Z Rent-A-Car staff at the airport.
We arrived at the airport, waited in line for 30 minutes, then we filled out paperwork for the flat tire, presented a bid we received from a local company, and drove away in our traded car. The car they gave us to replace the first was horrific! I have video coverage of how the car took over 5-10 minutes of trying to get the car into reverse because the handle was stuck and would not operate. Then, when we attempted to accelerate, the car would hesitate and then bolt forward. We felt very unsafe and the entire experience was frightening. We explained this to the E-Z Rent-A-Car staff at the airport, who then asked us to fill out a form. We did. The only thing we received from them was a bill for the tire!! No apology. No follow up. No concern for the safety or enjoyment of their customers. RUN AWAY. Never rent from this company.

On explanation that I maintain a home in Denver and Fort Lauderdale, my destination in Colorado came under scrutiny and my return airline ticket was examined. The male manager and another employee both involved themselves during the time that I explained the aforesaid to the agent; the manager needlessly and angrily reinforced and supported the agent's slanderous statements and shared with me his experiencing of "headache" in dealing with locals. He also stated that EZ Rent-a-car does not rent to Coloradans, claiming that EZ Rent-a-car only rents cars to airline passengers with a return ticket out of Colorado. I was the only customer in the building during this time, and a female employee said to the male agent as she walked past, "if he only, he (me) knew how many locals steal from us, what they put us through."
The hateful claims made by three employees of EZ Rent-a-car represent an outrageous assertion of distorted facts. Is it worthy to note, in contradiction the staff's statements, that 2013 actuarial data affirms that vehicle theft in Colorado, where most Coloradans live, is 36% less prevalent than the national prevalence of auto theft in the United States.

Saturday morning as we got ready for our trip, the brake light kept coming on and the lights for servicing the engine and low tire pressure went one. I pulled out the manual and it state that when the brake light goes on it means that the car is experiencing severe brake malfunction and needs to be serviced right away. We immediately headed back to the rental office.
On our way there, we called to let them know what the issues were and to please have a replacement vehicle ready since we were already running late. Once we arrived at the rental office, we had to wait in line and then when the attendant helped us, he basically dismissed our concerns. We explained that we had five children in the vehicle with us and this was an extreme safety hazard. Before renting out any vehicle they need to do a service check on the cars to ensure that they are safe to drive. He blew our concerns off and had us wait as they had to prepare another vehicle for us.
In addition, we filled the tank up with gas and when I mentioned this he said we could return the car on E, however the replacement vehicle only had 1/4 tank of gas in us. So basically we were driving a death trap and then we filled out their car on our dime. Horrible service and the fleet maintenance is nil. I will never rent from this company again. Interesting enough, the Estimate was done on Sept 16th, 7 days and 699 miles added to the odometer later?? The car was NOT damaged by me. I first called the Las Vegas office hoping this was kind of mistake in paper work. Quickly I discovered this was not, it was some kind of scam they are running. I talked to 4 different agents who could not help me and none of which would put a manager or supervisor on the phone. I used both my home and cell phone and each time they just gave me the run around and the number for the Florida office then placed me on hold for a manager. I put both phones on speaker and waited for them to pick back up. It did not happen, after about 15 min someone on their end disconnected the phones. Next morning I called the Florida office. (When they picked up the person said Yeah, like I was calling someone's home phone, I listened to the background noise and I would be willing to bet that I did call someone's home).
I asked to speak to management, of course they wanted my rental agreement #. I said I would like to talk to a manager, after a few min of discussion they put a manager on the phone. I asked her to explain the company policy on damaged cars and how they determined when a car was damaged. She told me she could not tell me unless I gave her my rental agreement #. Really, you can't give me a Company Policy without seeing my agreement? Is that because you need to CYA and make sure you're all in on the same scam?? She referred me to the website for Company Policy. Would not answer any questions I had on the company and finally hung up. On a trip to Denver over Labor Day weekend, I pre paid for a rental for one day which was overall an easy process online. Then when I arrived at the rental company, I decided to give them an alternative card for the deposit of $200, which was immediately done incorrectly and had to be reversed (issue #1). I was given an upgrade and enjoyed the rental for the day. I called to request an extension through the weekend and that seemed to have gone smoothly; however, I received an erroneous charge of $86 that when I went into the rental company could not be explained to me by the person working at the counter.
The assumption was that it must be part of my deposit since I did an extension which made no sense to me since they already had a deposit from me. Also, that evening we tried to change the cards completely, which after trial and error seemed to work because they charged my friend over $400 for the entire rental, which again made no sense since I had already paid pre paid for Thursday and given potentially 2 deposits. After we dropped off the car, I received an invoice with the total amount of the rental which did not explain all the various charges to three separate cards, when it's rather common to exchange credit/debit cards when doing a final payment.
To this day and after countless hours on the phone to both Denver (no return calls EVER) and the customer service line (one very helpful woman who was just as confused) I have canceled a card and decided my bank should work to resolve these issues with EZ. It's not possible to understand how they charged three cards for various amounts and do not provide a proper invoice documenting the random charges. The deposit was used toward the actual rental, taxes charged to one card, remainder of the bill to another and all I wanted to do was pay the total on a different card. Highly recommend paying more for peace of mind.

When we returned the vehicle early Sat morning the 23rd, we pulled into the parking deck and it was pretty dark. I popped the trunk and my wife and I got out and went in back to get our luggage. A girl came out of a cubicle and stood in front of the car. I started to give her the keys, and she pointed to the windshield and said there was a nick in the windshield. I was shocked and said where. Again she just pointed to the windshield. I told her I didn't see anything and for her to point it out. She came to the side of the car and pointed to a spot.
The windshield was dirty from sitting around for three days, and there was bird droppings on the windshield. Where she was pointing looked exactly like a bird dropping and I told her that. I then took my finger to wipe away the dirt, and sure enough it was a nick no bigger than a pencil eraser. I told her it didn't happen on my watch. If it did, I would have certainly heard it and would then pay for it. She then had me sign a sheet showing I returned the car.
When I was waiting for my plane, I got to thinking about this. I would bet anything that nick was in the windshield to start with. It had to be, but I didn't see it. It was on the left side and down low. Then I got to thinking about the girl with x-ray vision. She could never have seen that nick from where she was standing. She knew it was in there from the start. Also, she never did a walk around to look at any other part of the car. Very poor acting on her part. These people are thieves. I have to wonder how many times this window has been paid for, and how many more times it will be paid?
I am going to write them and ask for the repair bill and the name of that girl that checked me in. This crap has to be stopped. I have rented many cars and never had a problem. Again, if I did it, I would pay for it... but I didn't. With all the scratches and dents in the car, I have to wonder how many claims have been made on this car and nothing was ever fixed. They advertise, "they guarantee the cheapest rates". They probably do, but I know how they pay their bills, with insurance claims. My phone does not take pictures, but they said they have some. I am going to get them also. The window is not a safety hazard and is small enough to pass inspection. If I pay them their $397, it is going right in their pocket.

We flew into Fort Lauderdale and rented a vehicle from E-Z Rent-A-Car. We returned it a week later in the exact same condition as when we picked it up. The attendant checked the gas, mileage, walked around the vehicle, said "everything is fine", and told us to have a good flight. Nine days later, we received a bill for damage done to the vehicle in the amount of $1023.12?? I was shocked. We did not do any damage, and none was done while we had it in our care. I called (of course several numbers and several people before I got to the "right" number) and asked to speak with a supervisor. I was told she was not available, and the person I spoke with said she would give her the message, and have the supervisor call me. I told her this was a mistake as we did no damage to the vehicle. I also told her that if I had done damage I would have told them when I returned it and would have asked what I needed to do to take care of it. I did not receive that return call from the supervisor. There was no further correspondence. I decided it had been a mistake or a scam and that they had dropped the matter.
TWO months later to the day, I receive another bill for the same amount with the added message of "pay within 10 days or you will be sent to collections". I called again, and this time got through to the person I was told was the supervisor... she wasn't. The first person (I am with holding the names intentionally) flat out lied to me. Long, detailed story short... I did not do this, and I will not pay this bogus bill that is nothing but a scam… as evidenced by the same story over and over and over on this site alone. Thank you to the person who recommended filing a complaint with the Attorney General of Florida. I also did this and they have been helpful and instrumental in resolving this matter. E-Z Rent-A-Car needs to be dealt with and given the choices of either cleaning up their business practices or forced to close their doors.

In June I let my daughter use my debit card to rent a car for her honeymoon. Since then E-Z Rent A Car must keep your numbers because someone tried to rent a car in Orlando, FL with my card. My daughter rented one in Fort Lauderdale. So now my card is canceled and all my bills that I pay with my card is sending me late charges and threatening to cancel insurances. So now I have to wait for another card! It is very inconvenient. I'll never use them again since they share your card number with other branches of E-Z Rent A Car.

While planning our family vacation to Colorado this year we decided to rent a minivan from EZ Rent a Car from the airport location. I made the reservation online and agreed to pay the ridiculous price of $780 for the week. When we went to pick up the car I was told it would be an additional $100 to let my WIFE drive the van. I was now stuck and had no choice so I agreed and I was on my way. First off (not a huge deal) they told me the gas was at 3/4 tank. When we got in the car it was only a 1/2 tank. I had to go back and tell the guy. He didn't even listen to me (for real), just grabbed the paper from my hand, circled 1/2 tank and wrote his initials on the paper. Walked away without saying 1 word to me. I didn't think much of it at the time, but after reading all these complaints I could see it probably the regular.
I just filled out their survey and told them how I feel. Not that it will do anything. Anyway, I returned the car and I was told the charges were $1059.00. I did everything in my power not to get arrested on the spot. This guy is lucky I didn't crack his ** head for trying me. I explained the $ situation and he lowered my bill to $903. Which is still $40 more with the new price with my wife driving. I didn't have time to dispute any longer as my flight was already boarding and had to get all the way back to the airport. So other than the ** they have working the car was decent.

Rented a minivan from EZ rental in Los Angeles. They had the cheapest rate from mainstream car rental companies but I will never rent with them again. The shuttle to take you to the lot picks you up at the hotel shuttle stop, not the car rental stop. They share a shuttle with the Sheraton Hotel. No way of knowing this without calling them. On arrival to the Sheraton employee parking lot there is a small trailer that says EZ on the outside. Our first minivan smelled like vomit, the second one the trunk didn't close and the third one was "brand new" and they wanted an extra $18 a day. In the end they gave us the "new to them" Toyota Sienna for the same price. The tank was 1/4 filled. On the way out they were duck taping the trunk of the second minivan. Very sketchy, would not rent with them again.

On 5/21/14, I flew into Denver and reserved an Economy car with E-Z FOR $140 FOR THE AFTERNOON. Upon arrival I was given my paperwork and handed keys to an SUV and was told that me and my 80 year old father had to go out into their parking lot and find our SUV. There was no pre-inspection for damages, no escort, nothing. Upon my return 5 hours later, a female attendant did an inspection of the vehicle and literally said "everything looks great, thanks". Then out of nowhere, a young hispanic male "Ricardo" (I believe) ran over, jumped up on the bumper and pointed out a quarter sized dent on the roof. I said that had to be pre existing damage because it did not happen under my care and custody. He rudely said "OH SO YOU'RE THE ONLY ONE IN DENVER, IT DIDN'T HAIL ON TODAY"! I said, "ACTUALLY, I WASN'T IN DENVER TODAY SMART ASS. I WAS IN COLORADO SPRINGS AT THE AIR FORCE ACADEMY FOR MY NIECE'S HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION AND IT DIDN'T HAIL THERE, AND THE VEHICLE WAS IN MY SISTER'S GARAGE, SO HA"!
Not my most mature moment but I was livid because it was such an obvious attempt to scam me out of money. They then would not let us get on a shuttle to the airport until they completed a damage report. Fortunately, my flight was delayed because we definitely would have missed it. Coincidentally (or maybe not) there was another man complaining of damage to his vehicle and he wanted to point it out to an attendant BEFORE he drove off the lot. I told him and all in the room to BEWARE because these people are pulling a scam on me right now.
SURE ENOUGH, 3 weeks later I receive a bill from E-Z for (ARE YOU READY FOR THIS? ) $2,619.93 for an estimate of damages by Todd ** at Pro Appraisal LLC! Remember this was a small dent (the size of a quarter) barely visible at any angle suspiciously pointed out by a rude attendant. This estimate listed all kinds of damages to this car. It was unbelievable.
In June 2014, After I filed a complaint, Ebony ** in Risk Management has all kinds of excuses like "I'm waiting for paperwork to arrive from Denver", "the people in Denver won't return my calls", etc. I said it's been 2 months! Don't you have a fax machine. Of course no reply. I filed a claim on BBB against E-Z in Colorado, E-Z in Florida (headquarters), and Todd ** at Pro Appraisal LLC. I am also contacting the Attorney General in both Co and Fl. I'm literally sickened to read that others have had similar experiences and E-Z in Florida refuses to recognize it and dismiss my claim. I'm in the process of seeking an attorney because I've worked very hard my whole life to maintain my good credit rating. DON'T GO TO E-Z!!!

About two weeks ago, my daughter and I arrived at Georgia at about 2/3AM in the morning due to a delay in our airplane. We decided to rent a car from the EZ Rent a Car as it only seemed like this and one other place was opened. We didn't even choose to pick the car that we were given, as the person at work told us that that was the only car available, besides the big SUVs. The person just gave us a key and a piece of paper telling us to mark the paper for any damages or scratches. When we got to the parking lot, there was nobody there to help us, and it was really dark. Though a bit suspicious of how things were going, we looked through the car the best as we could, found a few scratches here and there, and put the paper into this "black box" and left. The car wasn't in the best condition, so even throughout our time in Georgia, we had a hard time driving it.
When we came back to return the car, one worker, without even searching, found the damage right away. It was a dent under the door handles, which is not even able to be seen easily, as none of my family noticed it. The worker told us to sign this paper, telling us that we don't have any choice but to sign this and that this contract (?) might actually help us not get blamed for the damage. WHAT NONSENSE. We were so shocked because we did not cause this damage nor did we ever see it under the handles, which was hidden. The workers told us that someone from EZ will call us to figure out the situation. However they NEVER called, but a bill came like a week later requiring us to pay about 1200 DOLLARS. In the bill, they required money for even the repairs that had nothing to do with the damage. NEVER EVER rent from EZ Rent a Car. We are not planning to pay this scam company any money. It is so unfair.

I am a retired AT&T manager with over 35 years of customer services experience. As a former AT&T manager with the responsibility of 13 states, I have rented vehicles all over this country, not to mention that in my personal life; I have rented vehicles ALL over this world. But NOTHING compares to the most horrific, despicable, insulting and unprofessional car rental experience I had at EZ Rental car LAX location on July 15, 2014. It was the worst I've experienced in my life.
I am a repeat customer and after searching the internet for the most reasonable rate, I reserved a rental car (2days) prior to arriving in Los Angeles. Although I selected EZ Rental car as my final choice, I had previously reserved and cancelled several other rental car reservations with other companies. I had several reasons for selecting this company: 1) the rates were the best I'd found after my senior and Facebook discounts, and 2) I'm a member of your E-Z program.
Upon arriving at the LAX location to pick up the car, I wasn't greeted with "HELLO welcome to EZ rent a car". I wasn't greeted with "May I help you". I wasn't greeted with HELLO or HI at all. I was greeted with, "WHAT DO YOU NEED" by Jo Ann who was at the counter.
Although I was taken back by her greeting (or lack thereof), I responded, "I'm here to pick up a car" and attempted to provide her with my reservation number, but she cut me off asking for my name. I must admit I was truly taken aback by her rudeness and unprofessionalism towards me, I had simply walked through the door. However I continued with the business at hand and attributed this behavior to maybe she's having a bad day.
After JoAnn found my reservation, she then tells me, "There's a problem with your reservation and I can't rent a car to you"!!! I asked her what's the problem with my reservation? She tells me, "You need to call customer service and they will explain what's going on with your reservation." I asked, "Well can you call customer service and find out what's going on?" She replied, "NO you need to call them yourself". Confused and bewildered, I asked, "May I use your telephone to call?" She replied, "NO, you'll have to use your cell phone". By now I'm beginning to get angry about the way I'm being treated, for absolutely no reason. I was only there to pick up a rental car.
So I use my phone and called the customer service department, only to learn that they had closed 3-4 hours prior. I considered if there is an issue with my reservation, I should contact reservations to try and determine what the issue was. I spoke with Brandon ** who told me he was able to recreate my reservation for $55.00 more than my original rate, but he needed to speak to Jo Ann to get her approval for the same $73.00 rate. I told JoAnn I could only reach someone in reservations and what he was trying to do. She refused to speak to him and requested that he call the office phone. Brandon ** did call Jo Ann and she asked him if he'd ok'd it with Cameron to re-do my reservation? He was then informed (by Jo Ann) that I was on the "DO NOT RENT TO LIST"; however, he was unable to explain why, he had no idea.
He contacted Charlie **, Business Development VP, who also had no access to the list and couldn't assist. This entire ordeal lasted well over an hour. 59 minutes on calls to the customer service and reservation departments, and 20 minutes plus in the office trying to get clarity and understanding of the problem, when all Jo Ann had to do was tell me I was on the "do not rent to list" and direct me to call customer service department on the next business day because they were closed.
Now during this experience, the LAX office was filthy. My friend was stomping ants crawling around the chair she was sitting in and she even killed an ant crawling on her neck. The waste basket was a small lilac colored (bathroom size) can with over flowing trash that had spilled out onto the floor; and there were GNATS EVERYWHERE. Also while waiting on the phone for Brandon **, a gentleman started a conversation with my friend and I about how there were ants in the van he'd just rented and was told to just get a can of bug spray and spray them. He too was mortified.
IT GETS WORSE..... The next day I called customer service department. I spoke with Porche who advised me that in January 2013 I was placed on the "Do not rent to list" because of being under the influence. I was speechless to say the least. Once being able to speak, I asked under the influence of what?????? She had no idea and contacted the LAX office and spoke with Cameron (the regional or district manager) who told her he refused to speak to me and wanted nothing to do with renting me a car because I was an irate customer and I was cursing. I NEVER SAID ONE WORD to either of the (2) gentlemen or the young lady at the counter. I didn't say hi, bye, I said nothing to them. So Cameron was correct I was upset. He was absolutely correct I was livid upon leaving that office (trailer). However Cameron refusing to speak totally disregards the rule of "The customer is always right". His refusal to speak to me and even hear my side of things gave me absolutely NO benefit of the doubt...!!
I was greeted with "what do you need". I encountered rudeness upon entering the office. I was refused assistance in clearing up an issue with my reservation, in which Jo Ann knew the answer to just by viewing my reservation. I was given the run around for over an hour. My friend was killing ants on her neck and all over the floor. The office was extremely FILTHY. I was swatting gnats EVERYWHERE. He is absolutely correct I was cursing when I walked out of that trailer; however, I NEVER ONCE SAID ONE CURSE WORD TO ANY EZ rental car employee. I was extremely frustrated and simply expressing my frustration to my friend. Jo Ann disappeared, she just left, never to follow-up to see if I had been taken care of.
CONCLUSION: I WAS NOT UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ANYTHING...!!!!! I DO NOT DRINK. I DO NOT SMOKE anything other than meats in my BBQ pit and I DON'T DO DRUGS. To this minute I have NO idea what I was supposedly under the influence of at 5:30am when I returned the car in Jan. 2013.
Their employee assumed that I was under the influence of something. In no way did the employee smell alcohol on me, because once again I do not drink. When the fact of the matter is, I am a senior "STROKE" survivor who sometimes limps and wobbles when I walk. My gait, my limping, my wobbling is nowhere near being under the influence of anything. Being falsely accused of intoxication and being placed on this list and the refusal of renting me a car is against the Americans With Disability Act. All of this happened because of an assumption.
The company knew I was on this list and had every opportunity to declined my reservation at the time I made it. All of this could have been avoided and I would have never learned they violated the ADA. But to the discover that they violated the ADA, only adds insult to injury.
Even though I will never rent from EZ rent a car again, I want them to immediately remove my name from any list I've been placed me on. I want them to reimburse me my $198.50 that I had to pay to FOX rental car during this crisis.

My wife and I are experienced travelers, used to the challenges inherent in any trip, but this was an unusually bad experience for her. In April of this year my wife made a reservation with this company, through carrentals.com. The information online made it appear that the rental counter was in the airport. It was not, but that was the least of the issues. There was a tremendous line of customers waiting for the small (10 seat) van that apparently was the sole means of traveling from the airport to the rental location, which she was told was a round trip of at least 40 minutes. Moreover, the location where customers were told to wait was outside in the sun, an particularly unpleasant experience in South Fl. Given the length of the round trip and the number of people in front of her, simple math suggested that my wife would not even get to the rental counter for several hours.
The driver showed absolutely no interest in helping anyone. She went online, cancelled the reservation and found a rental car company with adequate shuttle service. The final insult is that carrentals.com refuses to refund the amount paid for the reservation. While I understand the purpose of a no-refund policy, it should not apply when the customer was ready willing and able to use the service, but the vendor proved incapable of providing it in a reasonable manner.

I usually travel business and can afford to rent at the higher rates for say like Hertz. In this case my son and I were traveling personal and the thought of paying $12 vs $60 was alluring. I read many of the reviews and was "nervous" but I felt I knew what to look for. Checking in at 11 pm did not help my concerns. The parking lot was not lit and the agent warned us that windows and tires would be our responsibility. This concerned me because these were two items that were mentioned in posts that I read. His general attitude was not really rude, but not positive either. We took my cell phone flash light and IPad and took several pictures making sure he knew we were doing this.
The tires looked good and we didn't see any window dings. The exterior had several minor scratches. The car was clean but had some spots on the seats. We noted all of this in the limited area on the checkout sheet. I would suggest referencing your pictures on the sheet. We returned the car and again took several pictures at the same time they were checking us in. We didn't have any issues and I specifically asked if the agent (a different guy) saw anything (he didn't - if possible use your recorder on your phone to record the conversation). We rented for a total of $68 for three days and our $200 deposit was returned within two days. Though I was nervous, it worked out for us. I would do it again to save the money.

We rented a car from E-Z for our trip to Disney. This was April 22-29th of 2014. Our agent said it was 169.00 for the week, 85.00 for the car and 169.00 total with all included. I checked online and it's what it said.
We arrived and we found out the cars were very small even for full size. A Hyundai Elantra or Toyota wouldn't be good for two people at 6 ft tall. We upgraded and asked, what is the price above the original estimate.. The customer service said only 160.00 above the price. He told us total would be between 330-360 with taxes. It would be under 400.00. OK, so my guy went with it. Yes he took out insurance even though he didn't have too. We also said we had AAA membership. It didn't seem that he applied it. Customer service was very nice but hard to understand. He explained we had to go to another area to pick up our car, which was crazy. The car was a Chevy Captiva. The car worked fine and was comfortable.
We brought it back to Orlando airport. After my guy received the bill, it was 518.00, we had to go all the way back to the other terminal to speak to the man who took our sale. He told us I explained this to you, which he did not. He said the most it would be was 360. He said he should have charged us 590.00 but he gave us a break... I didn't believe this at all. He didn't do anything for us. He said he gave us a great deal. When in turn I could have rented from any other for 330.00 total.
Customer service was not helpful. They seemed not to care at all for what they were doing to their customers. Very disappointed and will never use this company again. I am also telling my travel agent about how they do business. I should have read all the reviews before going with them. I see others were scammed as well. We are waiting to see what the charge card is billed. If it's anything more, we will definitely do something more about it.

I was there to meet with the Mayor and City counsel members on business and frankly I'm NOT a game sport person and had to Google final 4 to find out what it was... Don't care...
I just would like to have a rental company I can count on for my return trips, let me know if that's going to be E-Z or not. My credit card bill came and I noticed a $300 charge in addition to the $189.85 rental cost. I called the E-Z Rental Car (AKA Drivo) office and the person stated that the rim on the vehicle was SO damaged that the car was not completely not drivable and the entire rim had to be replaced. I rented a car form E-Z in Feb 2010 from the Denver location. When I check out, they said to give the car a once over to see if I noticed any damage, then sign this waiver. On inspection, the car checked out, I drove the car to a friend's house parked it, then drove back to the airport the following day. On return, I walked into the counter to check out, I've rented hundreds of cars over the life of my traveling career, so wasn't anything new, not 2 min later a guy walked in and gave the counter the damage report. Damage Report!!? What!?
It said the windshield was cracked. I went outside to see for myself, the chip was the size of a drop of frozen water, and it was under the windshield. Mind you, it was Feb, the car was washed and there remained frozen pieces of water on the car when I picked it up. I was polite and questioned how it would be possible for me to spot such a tiny chip, and especially given the location, the two guys, the counter guy and the guy reporting the issue, were very rude. Reassuring me maybe I was following too closely to the traffic in front of me, and possibly one kicked up a stone. Said it happens all the time here and I really need to pay attention how closely I follow other cars. They sent me a bill for 300 some odd dollars.
I called AmEx, to see if they would cover it, nope, sent the claim into my insurance company, called E-Z headquarters (run around central) then never heard another word. One year later, I get a piece of mail from a collections company, and it shows up on my credit report. Out of pure annoyance I paid the 300 some odd dollar bill. Today - 4 years after the original car rental, 2+ years after I had paid the outrageous bill, I get another $191.49 aggressively worded bill in the mail. They are still trying to shake me down. Two lessons: 1) Don't ever rent from E-Z - EVER! 2) That outrageous insurance option may not be a bad idea if you're renting from some shady ops place like E-Z.

My experience with this company was horrible from start to finish. Once I rented the vehicle in Charlotte I went outside and waited for the shuttle bus...it never came. I had to hitch a ride one of the competitors buses which, I was told, was located right next to EZ. I exited the bus into wind and rain and cold, then walked through a grassy area over to EZ. Then I walked into the rental office where I was greeted by a young male representative. He was working alone and was able to get through the paperwork okay. I then asked if a Garmin GPS was available to which he responded, "yes". Although he looked high and low through each zippered bag there was no Garmin to be found. No big deal, I thought, I'll just use my smartphone.
The entire time I stood at the counter getting through the paperwork phase there were two young thugs sitting in the waiting area. They were either the clerk's friends or they worked at EZ....either way they did nothing but talk nonsense and use profanities. I think they thought they could not be heard but they were wrong. The clerk did nothing to shoo them out or ask them to watch their language.
Once the paperwork was completed I was instructed by the desk clerk that the car was outside. I was shocked that someone, due to the inclement weather, couldn't drive the car to the stopping area near the front door. Mind you, it was NOT a busy time... It was late and I was the ONLY person inside the office. Once out to the car I noticed a layer of ice was on all of the windows and side-view mirrors. It appeared that the car had been just run through a car-wash machine. Okay, no biggie... I started the car and let it run for at least ten minutes before pulling out of the lot. The ice began to melt and off I went.
I arrived at my final destination, Cleveland, OH. The weather was horrendous: cold, blowing snow and blizzard-like conditions. My rental car was so covered with slush that a walk-around was impossible. The return clerk was alone and very busy. She was doing all she could to keep up while not freezing to death. During my travel home I would have heard something, anything, hit the car which never happened. Now that I see that this scam is not an isolated incident it's obvious EZ does this to many, many of it's customers. It is obviously part of their business plan. The negative reports online are proof-positive that this company will face a Class-Action suit at some point in the near future. Until that happy day arrives, do not rent even a bicycle from these thieves.

My husband and I rented a car overnight, picking it up at the airport in Miami and returning it in Fort Lauderdale. There were some very minor scratches that we noticed on one side of the car. What we didn't notice is that the guy filling out the form noting damage marked it on the wrong side of the diagram. We went to one restaurant, the hotel, then the other airport the next day where the new rep told us we were responsible for the damage. We explained that we had discussed it with the other guy who had noticed it, but he had written it down wrong (and I know, we should have studied the thing before driving off, but we were very tired and didn't realize his mistake, which may not have been a mistake anyway).
The Fort Lauderdale rep wanted us to sign a form admitting fault for an accident! He made it sound like it was no big deal to sign, when in fact it's an admission of responsibility. I said absolutely not, because we didn't damage the car. We left to catch a flight. A few weeks later, a bill for $550 shows up. Unbelievable. These people are truly, well, sleazy. I am fighting back via various forms of consumer advocacy, but would love to be involved in a class-action lawsuit against these fraudsters. They tried to charge $100 processing fee for a $5.62 E-ZPass toll. When I signed rental forms, there was no mention of E-ZPass sticker option. My initials were forged on the line to waive the sticker. Crooks... My bank has protected me and reversed the charges.

I have tried calling you and now I am sending you email in an attempt to develop correspondence in reply to your "claim" of damage. I have attempted to come to an understanding about what I am being accused of damaging. In your Better Business Bureau (BBB) reply, I was able to see the pictures of a similar vehicle with some damage to the windshield. As I requested in my reply to those pictures, I have a dispute. I would like an explanation of those pictures.
First, we rented the vehicle 6/5/13. On 6/6/13, we caught a small rock in the windshield. The resulting "chip" was very small. It could easily be repaired by any windshield repair shop. My wife called your company within 5 minutes of the chip to explain the situation. At that time, she explained that we have a windshield repair option to our insurance. In other words, it would be FREE for us to have it repaired at a windshield repair shop (through our insurance). YOUR representative told her "No, don't worry about it. We can have it fixed for you." The "chip" was minor, so we thought that seemed reasonable.
On 6/10/13 we returned the vehicle at DFW airport. YOUR employee examined the vehicle WITH US PRESENT and said that everything was fine. It should be noted that YOUR employee did not even see the chip until I pointed it out. I even told him about the telephone call to YOUR other employee and what THEY told us. He then CONFIRMED what YOUR previous employee told us about how they will have it fixed and not to worry. This was a small chip, so I felt that it was consistent with YOUR other employee and reasonable. We then left.
On 7/30/13 (45 days later), we received a letter for damages regarding the rental. We attempted telephone contact with numerous representatives from YOUR business for a resolution. After receiving no assistance from ANYONE from YOUR company, we filed the complaint with the BBB. After filing the complaint, we finally received a reply. Not only did the response have someone else's name attached to it, there were photographs of a damaged windshield that we were not responsible for.
In those photographs, you can CLEARLY see 2 (two) different damage points. There is clearly a small chip next to a secondary larger chip. I (my wife and I) are NOT RESPONSIBLE for that secondary chip! When we returned the vehicle, YOUR employee checked the vehicle in and said everything was fine. I feel that any competent employee would have seen such damage immediately and addressed it. In case YOU forgot, he didn't address it with us because that damage was NOT there when we returned it.
Since YOUR employee refers to me as Mr. ** in your BBB reply, I am now forced to wonder who rented the vehicle after me. Was it a Mr .**? Are you charging this person for the damage as well as me? Why am I now also locating multiple complaints against your business with the BBB? Obviously, I know and admit that while I was renting your vehicle, I obtained the small "chip." But as I stated above, we called in the damage to YOUR company for direction. We currently have and also had at the time, a windshield protection clause with our insurance. If we obtain a chip in our windshield, we can have it repaired for FREE! If we damage a windshield to the point it needs replacement (which clearly no one from YOUR company said I did) we can have it repaired for a deductible of $100.00. We offered to fix it while we were there. The process would have taken approx.30 minutes.
In conclusion, I feel that your "charge" of $786.81 is excessive and sorely irresponsible. Even if I needed to completely repair the windshield, it would have only cost me $100.00. Then, on top of everything else, you are trying to charge me $100.00 for an administration fee AND $22.36 for loss of use?! I am sending this to you in hopes for a professional response and/or a resolution. I am copying this to the BBB as they seem to be more interested in this "business practice" of YOURS than YOU. I will find every review board, comment board, bulletin board I can post this letter to.
9/13/13 - I just got off the phone with Mr. ** and he refuses to explain why there was a 45-day delay in billing. He does not have an explanation why there is additional damage in the picture. He does not know who Mr ** is. He cannot tell me who rented the car after me (Mr. **). Maybe Mr. ** is also being charged the same as I. Mr. ** referred to emails sent to the BBB as ones sent to me. No one at EZ Rent-A-Car emailed me! Their computer sent me a bill... but no human. No one ever answered their phones either. STAY AWAY FROM E-Z Rent-A-Car!!

I rented a 2013 Ford Escape from the E-Z Rent-A-Car agency at the Denver Airport in May of 2013. Everything went well including the shuttle, the wait time at the counter, etc. The salesperson was friendly and the vehicle worked out great. When I first checked out of the parking lot, the clerk obviously did a poor job looking over what I thought was a new vehicle and made a few notes on some scratches on my vehicle. When I returned the car a few days later, the clerk immediately opened my car door and stood on the door sill and pointed out what looked like hail damage on the roof of the car. It's like she has seen this damage on this car before and knew where to look. She also pointed out a very tiny chip on the windshield on the passenger side. This chip was so small that I had to put my glasses on to see it. Come on!! Are you ** kidding me?!!
There was another customer at the other counter checking out and she was pissed about going through the same ordeal as me. They told us, "No big deal; just fill out this form." Three weeks later, I get this letter from E-Z and now they want $289.50 for damages. I called and it went direct to voice mail (no big surprise). I have been renting cars for almost 40 years and I never had such a bad experience as this. No way am I paying this bill. They neglected to check my car out correctly on my way out and found previous damage when I returned. Angry does not correctly explain my feelings.

I rented a car from EZ car rental at DIA to drive to Estes Park, CO for my niece's wedding. We waited 30 minutes or more for our shuttle to the rental office and then another 30 in line. They had 2 people working while a couple of others just stood around. When it was my turn in line, the agent wasn't friendly at all and acted like he was bored to death. He did not explain the contract to me at all. I found out later in the day that the agency had kept a $200.00 deposit. The only thing he told me when I declined insurance was to stay off the tollways. He did not tell me why or that you can't get to Estes unless you go on the tollways, so I went on the tollways and now I am being charged $84.00. I don't have a clue to what those charges are for. I will never rent from them again and certainly will never recommend them to anyone, friend or enemy.

I just received a 2nd notice that I owe $252.46 for a cracked windshield on a car I rented on January 1st and returned on January 2nd: Claim #:**.
I checked out the car for dents and scratches prior to leaving the garage, it wasn't until I left the garage and was in the sunlight that I noticed a small "star" on the windshield (not a crack). This did not happen while I was driving the car and was not evident during my review of the car for dent/scratches. It also did not grow or get bigger while I had the car. When I returned the car to the garage, I mentioned this to the boy who took the keys. He said it wasn't a problem.
Imagine my surprise when I get a bill for a "cracked" windshield. I believe that the claim is excessive and fraudulent. I was already unhappy with the quality of car I received (Cube) compared to what was advertise on the internet site.
I sent the company an email to the address they provided advising of the information above on January 19th (date of first notice) and have not heard any response until the follow up and threat of turning over for legal matters today.

We received the car and drove to Breckenridge without incident. However, there was an indication that the tire was under-inflated, but they said that there was no one there to fix it and that this indication was common and not to worry about it. We used the car once more in Breckenridge, in the daytime, and then we kept the car in a heated garage and did not use it for a few days. On Dec. 31, we attempted to start the car to get gasoline as we have an early plane reservation tomorrow (1/1/12) at Denver. The car wouldn't start. I called the office and was told by "Ricardo" that he would talk to the manager and contact me immediately when he had instructions. Thirty minutes later, I called up as he did not return the call. He then suggested that I try to get the car started as there was no one who could help me at this time. We did, and had 3 mechanics working on the car and it would not start. All were puzzled that the only key we were given was the valet key. I called again and was put on hold for another 20 to 30 minutes.
My wife called the office while I was on hold and when I talked again to "Ricardo" I told him I did not appreciate being on hold for so long when I had this emergency and he told me he didn't appreciate me calling that the car was not working. He then hung up on me. I then called again to find out what to do and his response was just call a cab and it would be my responsibility. He then hung up on me again and never even asked where the car was. You should really be aware of this!
I called later to let you know where the car was located and the person, whose name I did not get, was quite gracious and helpful. I let him know where the car was so you can get your car back. Needless to say this kind of behavior is completely unacceptable. If the reason the car would not start was a security issue, how is one to deal with this when we were only given the valet key? If there is something else wrong with the car, we feel that you should be responsible for the $164 we had to pay to take a van to the airport tomorrow. In either case I don't believe we should be responsible and you should reimburse us for the van to Denver. In fact, we strongly feel that for all that we went through, we should not be charged at all. Since December 31, we have not gotten any response from the customer service.

I rented a car from E-Z Rent-a-Car on July 23-25,2010. I accidentally missed the lane for a toll booth, I called the rental agency in Fort Lauderdale and asked them what I should do. They informed me to pay the toll directly to FDOT, if not I would incur the charge & a penalty from them. I paid FDOT July 26 & they cashed my check on August 4th; I have proof from them as well. I received a letter from E-Z Rent-A-Car dated August 31, charging my credit card for $51 for the toll violation. I called both the 954-Fort Lauderdale number and the number on the letter for the Orlando office. The customer service rep told me I had to contact the Orlando office, which I did. All they have is an answering machine & they do not respond to the messages left. I also e-mailed them and there's been no response.

I purchased a 2003 Kia Sedona on March 2010. I was told my tag would be there before my next payment. I went back on the 23rd, my tag wasn't there and neither was my registration. Every time I went back, it would be the same lie. I received 4 Bill of Sales and he changed the paper tag 4 times also. I started getting suspicious so I went to the Department of Motor Vehicle. I was told he had not had license since January 2010. The VIN would not come up. I was told I would never get a tag. I asked him for my money back and to come and get his van. He took the van and the money.
I lost over $3000.00 in this vehicle and I was lied to. He filed false insurance claims trying to get money for the vehicle. The whole time since March, it has been a problem.

I rented a car from EZ at MCO for a business trip. I was there for less than 24 hours and only drove 38 miles. The pickup location is in a dark garage. A quick once-over of the car did not reveal any damage and I was on my way. When I returned the next morning, a shaft of morning sunlight was penetrating the garage and lit up two very small scratches on the hood.
The check-in person pointed this out and wanted me to sign a claim form for the "damage". I initially refused, because I did not cause any damage to the car -- I didn't even see the two very small scratches, and they were in an area I couldn't even reach! The check in person assured me that the form was "just for their records" and that I would not be charged for anything. This turned out to be a lie. Three weeks later, I got a bill for $500 to completely repaint the hood of the car!
I cannot dispute what the paperwork shows: there was no damage marked when I picked up the car and there was damage marked when I returned. My objection is to their twisted definition of damage. I have said it before and I will say it again: A scratch on a car is not a damage and further, charging $500 for this normal wear and tear constitutes extortion. Anyone who drives a car drives with scratches. Reasonable people use Carnauba wax and touch up paint to repair these types of minor flaws. Reasonable people do not trot off to the repair shop to have the entire hood repainted.
EZ has made their reputation as the low-cost alternative to major car rental companies like Enterprise and Hertz, and their low-cost status shows in the quality of their cars. During the month of June, I used EZ three times for business travel, and found none of the cars to be in perfect condition. They all had flaws such as scratches and dents. The fact that they want me to pay to have one of their cars hoods completely repainted for a minor scratch is laughable.
There is nothing for me to do now but report this to my insurance company. I hope their $500 is worth losing my business and the business of every other person I come in contact with. For the sake of $500 they have lost thousands of dollars in future revenue.

I copied below an email sent to the customer service department, which replied by offering a coupon for 15% off on a future rental. I found that entirely inadequate and, frankly, insulting. Two days ago, I made a reservation for a week-long rental for my mother, who is visiting Los Angeles for the first time. I fly to LAX several times each year on business, and I usually use a different rental agency, but I recommended your agency to her because of the low advertised rate and the promise of good service: "If your plans change, we can change with you."
Unfortunately, she had a very poor experience, both in terms of price and service. After her flight was delayed 24 hours by bad weather, she arrived at LAX today at noon and proceeded to your office. Your representative refused to offer her a rate similar to the one she had reserved for the previous day, instead charging $150 more for a 7-day rental than for the original 8-day rental (a 40% increase over the $400 price of the reservation). The agent told her that the original rates had changed and were no longer available and dared her to try looking them up herself if she didn't believe him. Of course, she had no computer on which to check this website. After arriving for the first time in a new city, after a stressful trip, and 24 hours behind on her schedule, she was in no position to negotiate. However, if she had access to a computer, as I do, she would have found that reservations are available at substantially identical rates. In other words, your agent not only took advantage of her situation in order to gouge her on the price, he also lied to her.
I'm extremely displeased by the poor service my mother received, and I'm embarrassed that I recommended your company to her. Although, this was my mother's first trip to LA, and her first experience renting a car in quite some time, I myself fly to LA several times per year on business, and I always rent a car at LAX. My colleagues and collaborators fly to LA dozens of times per year. In the past, I've rented from one of your competitors (a discount-rate agency which has provided excellent service), but I was pleased by your low rates and hoped to rent from your company in the future. However, if my mother's experience is representative of the price and service I can expect from your company, you can be sure that I'll never use it, and I'll make a point of recommending that my colleagues avoid it as well. I'm quite unhappy.
