I booked a flight to Europe with SAS and cancelled it, receiving an airline credit. When I tried to book a flight using the credit, I was first told that it could not be done. After several calls and going over the rules from both the airline and the company with three different agents, I was told that I could book it. When I located flights and dates on their webpage, I was told that the airline did not have prices for any of those flights. According to the agent, once a customer is using a credit, only certain flights can be used. Therefore, even if the agent booked the flight that I wanted and I paid a fare difference, the airline possibly wouldn't accept it, which would leave me with another airline credit.

The agent also told me that prices that I saw on their page were just for "fresh" (their words) and new tickets. I was also told that no refund was possible, given that I received a credit, which I cannot use. Bottom line: When trying to use a credit, I might get another one and actually not fly. The agent blamed this on the airline. I tried contacting the airline and they have directed me to Expedia. Never again.

We made a hotel booking online which they made a mistake on. They refunded only half the money. When we asked them to reinstate the original dates they said we had to pay a penalty. We were on the phone for over an hour with no satisfaction. So now we have to pay half again for the night they canceled on us.

I bought a ticket with Expedia for American Airlines, and they charged me for baggage. However, American Airlines stipulates that the third party is not allowed to do so; that has to be paid at the airport. When I called the representative asking for a refund, they didn't want to give it to me. Scam.

While they say it is trip protection for the entire trip, when it comes to refunds due to airline cancelation they just fall back on airline's policy. My onward flight got canceled about 12 hrs before take off by Spirit Airline and they did not have alternate options. I worked out the refund with them. When I contacted Expedia for leveraging my Trip Protection to cancel my UA return flight, they simply said it depends on airline and as per airline policy it can be refunded only via travel credits. Even without trip protection I could have got travel credits as my trip got canceled not because of my fault. I have now contacted AIG who is the trip insurer to see what they will do in this case. Overall Expedia treats the trip protection as only a way to get the money, but has no intention or empathy towards providing the actual protection.

Recently I booked Business Class and First Class Delta Airline ticket through Expedia. I paid full amount for quotation given to me. I received confirmation and received itinerary but seat selection was up to me. After 5 days I chose seats. However by mistake I chose Delta Comfort seat on one flight out of multiple city flights. I called Expedia but they refused to assign me right seat and asking me to pay more money. I informed customer care that the quotation was given for Business and First Class and I paid for that but they would not give me right seat.

In June of 2022, I booked an oversea trip with Expedia to Kenya. Ticket was issued by AA and to travel with BA. Going overseas via BA was ok. On my return on July 11, at Nairobi BA would not honor my ticket. I was told that Expedia failed to issue the ticket. To come back to USA I had to pay $1900. My original cost of ticket was $1300.

When I came back, I contacted Expedia. Expedia told me that they sent the request to AA to confirm my return flight, and that AA failed to confirm it. I contacted bot AA and BA and both confirmed that Expedia is the one to control and make changes on my ticket. And to fellow up with the airline to make sure that it is done.

I contacted Expedia again and they told me that I signed or checked the box of accepting something. You know the box that everyone checks or you can not complete your reservation.

The bottom line they could not help me. I should at least gotten back half of the $1300 since I had to pay my way back. They ripped me off $650. Bottomline folks is this. Book your international flights with direct with the airline. If anything happens overseas, they will pull and make all efforts to help you to get back to USA. It may be a little more expensive but it is worth it and a good insurance in case of any problems. I will never, never use Expedia for any flight.

Booked our flights through Expedia - paid extra to pick our seats. Expedia “forgot” to send seat assignments. We booked this over a month in advance. When checking into the airline 24 hours prior it said we had no seat assignments moving my husband and I in separate middle seats. We called the airline and they said to call Expedia. Expedia wouldn’t fix our seat assignments and then tried to say well after confirming seat assignments with Expedia we should have verified with the airline… Say what?? What is the point of Expedia then. We have never had to do that before. They wouldn’t assist with our seats and then wouldn’t refund us for the extra we paid to sit at our seats. They also didn’t transfer that we had pre-check. You are better off booking through the airline itself. Do not waste your time.

Booked a one way flight for American Airlines through Expedia, had an emergency come up day of flight and needed to rebook the flight. Tried to rebook through their website and was met with an error. Went through their support system to find out somehow my booking had been canceled. Spoke to a representative and he was able to uncancel the flight, but when I pushed to rebook they stated it could not be rebooked because it was American Airlines policy that I could not rebook the flight. Spoke to American Airlines and they assured me I could rebook the flight but since I had purchased the ticket through Expedia I had to rebook and deal with Expedia. Went back to the Expedia website to find that my account had been credited for the flight that I could not make. Attempted to rebook my flight using the credit and was again met with an error upon completion and told to contact customer service.

Contacted customer service via phone and was told that the credit on my account did not actually exist. I was told that because it was a basic economy American Airline ticket that they did not offer credits for rebooking. Yet on the Expedia website it shows I have a credit and I can go as far as completing a booking with the credit, but yet I don't actually have a credit. Will never ever use Expedia again. This was my first experience with Expedia and will be my last.

When I asked about the cancelation she was happy to refund my money within a minute of our conversation. Well, the money that was refunded to me went to Expedia and not me so not only did I not get my refund, Expedia is holding it from me! Expedia said I was unable to cancel without penalty because they had not originally advertised that a pool would be included in the reservation. Lesson learned I suppose albeit an expensive lesson. If there was a ZERO Stars I would choose it. I bought the booking protection package on a hotel booking. Had to cancel due to an illness. I Couldn't get a live person, so used the Chat-function. That person said they would cancel it, but it's up to the hotel if I get my refund. I explained that is NOT what the website says, when I bought the booking protection. He said he would call hotel and get back to before the end of the night. Never did. Called again in AM, still can't talk to human. Called hotel, nothing they can do because I booked though Expedia. Did Expedia chat again, they said the same thing as the night before--they will cancel, but it's up to the hotel.

I still got a call at Midnight from the hotel asking if I was coming--Expedia never canceled the reservation--Why? Most likely because having that cancelation receipt time stamped for when I first requested the cancelation, is the only way I could file a claim with the booking protection insurance agency for my refund! My flight was booked thru Expedia and then cancelled due to Covid and nationwide flight cancellations prevalent during that time. I was advised that there were no penalties due to the airlines having to cancel hundreds of flights during that period. I have reviewed my cancellation confirmation and do not see an expiration date on the confirmation. I attempted to redeem these credits in May of 2022 due to a medical emergency but was told by the airlines that Expedia controlled that process since I purchased tickets through Expedia. The airline did refund the extra fees such as baggage and seating. I went thru the redemption process with Expedia and was told I could not redeem any credits due to the system being broken. I traveled to my destination by driving due to the emergency.

I am now aware that Expedia will forfeit my credits on the 29th of this month without any warning or alternatives offered. My position is that when I tried to redeem the credits and Expedia was not able to provide them so any agreements that I was unaware of has been breached by Expedia for non-delivery of legitimate and timely requested credits. When speaking with a Manager in Expedia customer service, I was told that he was the highest authority and didn’t report to anyone. I hope that is not the case because the 2 hour plus discussion, most of which I spent on hold, was very unsatisfactory. It appeared to me that his only objective was to wear me down so I would abandon the call. This was clear in his repeated admonishment that if I was to hang up any consideration he may offer would not be honored. This company still does not acknowledge that the credits were not redeem due to their failure.

Expedia Airline Price Drop Protection is a SCAM!! I bought two tickets from expedia.com on September 20th at a price of $7480 and added $336 Price Drop Protection plan during purchase. The PDP (Price Drop Protection plan) stated on the checkout page "When you book select flights with us, you can buy Price Drop Protection to get an automatic refund of the difference if the price of your flight on Expedia drops." However, when I noticed the price drop on Oct 20th, I kept contacting with Expedia.com. On 10/25, 10/27, 11/1, 11/7, they all told me to wait, because they need to contact with American Airlines (the flight company of my tickets). Finally, on Nov 15th, one live agent confirmed that the price on 11/11 was $6330 and I would be refunded the biggest difference. So the $1150 ($7480-6330) is guaranteed and possibly more if the lower price be found.

However, today, the price for the same flight price goes to $4730, and I contacted Expedia.com. Expedia refused to pay any refund to me and said the class of the flight is different. On my flight tickets, it notes “Cabin: Economy Coach (S)” and the current flight tickets on the website selling is “Cabin: Economy/Coach (o)”. I am so confused and asked, “does this mean they both Economy class?” They replied but the coach is different. So that I contacted American Airlines, and got the reply “coach (O) and Coach (S) are Booking Code but not the class. The classes are only “Economy, Premium Economy, and Business”. Then I asked what is the booking code, the answer is “Booking codes are the identifiers used by the airline's revenue management department to control how many seats can be sold at a particular fare level.”

I attached my flight ticket, the current find from Expedia.com, and the PDP terms and condition. In their term and condition, the only term mention about class of ticket is “We’ll only compare prices against flights on Expedia that exactly match your flight. For example, the same carrier, flight class, and route.” It is confirmed with AA these tickets are the same flight class. Therefore, Exp Therefore, Expedia should refund me the biggest difference as they promised for selling PDP plan. However, they refuse any refund to match the difference of price drop. What a shameless company!!!

We booked a family vacation on 5/2022. Unfortunately, the amount of obstacles forced our family to cancel our trip several times now and it seems that Expedia Travel insurance protection plan is avoiding paying legitimate claims. Expected date of travel 11/26/2022. My wife and I submitted a claim on 09/27/2022 due to State Department travel; restrictions to x country and we reconsider our travels; so we canceled our trip.

On this trip, we are traveling with small children and want to avoid any possible conflict. We received a response from Expedia travel insurance plan that we would receive a decision in X number of days. During this time my wife got sick and we focused on her health. To our disbelief, our claim was denied because a State Department Travel advisory would not be covered under the CANCEL FOR ANY REASON POLICY. We talk to claims adjusters and explain that we were under the impression our POLICY WAS A CANCEL FOR ANY REASON POLICY. However, adjuster explains that it is not but it will cover any medical condition and recommended submitting my wife's medical condition and attending physician statements to validate our claim under medical condition cancellation. To our surprise, the 2nd claims adjuster denied our claim because my wife's medical condition is not covered under the travel insurance policy.

This travel insurance policy has so many restrictions and every time I call I get different information. This company is clearly profiteering on a poor service model by manipulating claimants with endless run-arounds and intentional convoluted policy terms. Now as time passes, we have more than one reason to cancel our trip. We received terrible news; that my twins and husband tested positive for COVID-19. We have irrefutable evidence and documentation that our 3 members of our family have COVID-19 and are very sick. Per Expedia travel insurance plan generated message; an analyst will review our documentation and contact us if further information is required to process your claim.

This company appears to go out of their way to essentially make you want to give up. Not only do you have to go through all the hassle to prove a claim with documentation, but the small print seems to negate every reason. However, it looks like Expedia is offering a travel credit available until May 2023 but this offer would defeat the purpose of buying the Expedia travel insurance plan.

Everything seems fine with Expedia until you have to make a change and beware of using their agents that charge extra for "negotiating" fee that is bogus. I booked a hotel and needed to make a change. The change was done weeks in advance of booked date and required an Expedia agent to make the change (would work online). Expedia agent notified me that they needed to contact the hotel, negotiate whether penalty would be assessed by the hotel, and book the new date. The agent advised me that a fee would be charged for this, which I paid. The agent then said they contacted the hotel, no penalty was negotiated with the hotel and sent me a confirmation email with new date.

I arrived at the hotel late at night after driving several hours to find out that the hotel didn't have my reservation, they were never contacted and in fact Expedia had the wrong hotel contact info. I called Expedia and they told me to work it out with the hotel. The hotel unfortunately was full so I am in the very rural area late at night without a room. I ended up booking a hotel myself 50 miles away even later into the evening.

I don’t doubt that many travelers have satisfactory Expedia experiences when using their travel items exactly as booked. Difficulties appear to arise when a traveler’s circumstances deviate from the norm. One might expect that booking through Expedia provides an extra measure of protection as both the travel provider and Expedia ought to ally on the traveler’s interests. From my experience, the opposite seems to happen – responsibility gets split such that neither Expedia nor the travel provider are fully responsible for the customer situation. Witness the many stories about the difficulty in changing airline reservations made through Expedia as an example.

In my case of June 2022, I lost $1,000 inadvertently canceling a non-refundable booking through Expedia. I had legitimately canceled several reservations prior to that using Expedia’s Virtual Agent in advance of the reservation expiration date. I was trying to find out if the booking in question could similarly be cancelled so I could re-book for a better rate at another property. I clicked the ‘Change or Cancel’ link provided in the Expedia email for the reservation in question.

An Expedia website opened as before with a message that Virtual Agent could help me change or cancel the reservation. I took that to mean I could cancel and get a refund as I did with the other reservations. Through my own fault I failed to notice the words ‘not refundable’ within the Virtual Agent chat text (Expedia agent read back this log to me later – I didn’t notice at the time). I said ‘Yes’ to cancel, Virtual Agent went off to transact with the hotel’s computer for 10 seconds and returned to say the cancellation was done and were there additional transactions I need help with? Poof, the $1,000 value of booking was lost. I didn’t even realize the money was lost until a month later when I checked my credit card statement and started to wonder why no refund had been processed.

I believe that had I booked directly with the property and inquired to cancel the property would have made clear that no refund would be forthcoming. That would have been all I needed to know and I would have kept and used the booking which I still needed for the trip. As the transaction was through Expedia however neither Expedia nor the hotel property operated with responsibility to make sure it was apparent to me, the traveler, what the transaction implied. Expedia’s automation functioned just as a message handler to the hotel since Expedia had no responsibility for the refund. And the hotel automation readily accepted this “something for nothing” transaction because the Expedia computer instructed it to do so*. I will no longer book through Expedia. I will use Expedia as one of many travel search engines, but will intend to book directly with the provider of flights or lodging whenever possible.

[* To be clear, accepting cancellation for a fully non-refundable booking is a non-ethical transaction because it involves knowingly accepting something for nothing. The proper response should be “we do not accept request to cancel because this booking is non-refundable”. If parties involved wish to proceed with a cancellation what follows should be classified as a donation so everyone is clear about what is happening. E.g. “I can’t travel on the dates I paid for so I would like to donate my booking so you can keep the proceeds from me plus sell those dates to someone else”.]

In the end, I was able to recoup the money paid to Expedia by disputing the charge on my credit card (having paid for services not rendered). I lost the Expedia dollars that went toward my payment to Expedia. The charge at the airport was $300. more than the price that I paid Expedia. Expedia takes no responsibility for any of this, including a refusal to rebate my loyalty dollars. After much correspondence, Expedia does not dispute the facts of the case. They did offer points worth $25. as goodwill for my $350. loss. My suggestion-make all bookings with the car company, hotel, or airline directly. I asked her if they would return my money since he had already paid for the chairs and the suitcase on all the journeys both one way and back to which she answered me That they would return everything to me because it was not my fault or something that I was requesting. I told her that I then proceeded to make the cancellation. The representative told me that I would do so, but when I tried to do it she told me that I could not do it because I had bought the ticket through a travel agency (EXPEDIA), so that the cancellation had to be processed with them.

So I proceeded to contact Expedia immediately. I was on the line for four hours with a representative who indicated he was trying to communicate with the airline. I waited all this time because I had to confirm that it was canceled to be able to proceed to buy a new ticket. They confirmed the information I had received and verified that there was no possibility of changing the flight, so they proceeded to cancel it and told me that in the next few days Iberia would be making the full return.

I received an e-mail from Expedia in which they said "apologies that there have been problems with the connection and the flight has to be canceled", with this information I proceeded to book my new flight, but due to what I notice how was handling with Expedia, I realized that it was better to buy the ticket directly with the airline and I did the trip on the same dates.

After three months I have not received the refund, a little more than $1,500.00 dollars. I have communicated with them on several occasions, always receiving the same answer (and the same e-mails), even on one occasion a representative told me that Iberia was slow to make the refund, which could reach up to 60 days, but more than this time has passed and I still do not receive it. But to my surprise after insisting for several months (from August to October/2022), I receive an e-mail in which EXPEDIA tell me that they have not been able to communicate with the airline and that therefore they applied the conditions of the ticket and that there is no place for any refund, which is disrespectful, in the end, they ended up stealing my money and teasing me for a long time.

Expedia was useless in helping resolve flight credit for that flight and return flights even though we had purchased insurance. We are probably going to be out well over $1000 although we will continue to fight this issue. Customer service was incompetent, we were told conflicting facts, got contradictory emails. Customer service seems to be outsourced to foreign countries, difficult to understand rep, a lot of background noise, etc. BOTTOM LINE: book directly through airline & eliminate expedia and like middleman. Hidden & obscure policy information will cost you $ & their useless customer service will cause you added grief.

When I later wanted to cancel the flight, I received only $707.00 instead of the full $1046.00. In reality, Expedia charged a refundable $707.00 for the SFO-CUN leg and a nonrefundable $340 for the flight back to CUN-SFO. In spite of the clearly fraudulent web interface, Expedia will not do anything to fix the problem. Stay away from Expedia. They won’t help you even if it’s their fault.

Expedia just flatly refused to have it corrected. Deep in their rules it is buried that they have no responsibility for misspellings, not even if they are the ones creating them! Do note that THEY OWN the booking -not you, the customer. So you cannot do a thing about it yourself. SPent 7 months agonizing over what will happen -will we get on board the planes or not? As it turned out, we did, although the airline´s computers at the in- and outbound gates protested at the mismatch. Itinerary #**: This is such a lie, "As indicated on our initial email, we attempted multiple times to obtain the penalty waiver as courtesy to our partner. Despite our best efforts, we have been unable to secure a waiver for your request for this booking."!! Expedia did nothing of the sort but obfuscate, procrastinate and lie. I requested a change in reservation prior to arriving at the hotel destination. Specifically, I requested a change on September 24. I arrived on September 25 and no such "multiple times" had even been initiated. I contacted Expedia again on September 26 only to be told "We attempted to contact the hotel but with no success." What a lie!! I was literally standing at the front desk speaking with Expedia as they were supposedly "dialing" the hotel to secure a waiver only to report to me they could not contact the hotel. Seriously?? I'm standing at the front desk with the hotel manager and there was no such contact.

Expedia then adds insult to injury sending an email on Sunday, September 29 stating "We’re currently chasing Comfort Inn & Suites on your change request. We will send you a follow up email within the next 48 hours." WHAT?? I've already left the hotel September 28. Told Expedia I had a family emergency to return to and they're sending me a Sunday morning note on the last day of the reservation stating they are still trying to chasing Comfort Inn & Suites? Extremely poor customer service. To add further insult to injury, an August 31 email from Expedia states, "We apologize for the delay in responding due to the high volume of requests that we handle at this time. We have checked the reservation and found that your booking is already in completed status." DUH??

I left the hotel a day early and they can't do anything now because when they finally did get around to it, the booking status was complete. Let's talk about Expedia corporate obfuscation, procrastination and in competence. Furthermore, Expedia sends another August 31 email stating, "We’re currently chasing for the vendor's response, and we will send you a follow up email within the next 48 hours." So what is the correct automated response?? Are you still chasing??

As of today, September 1, 2022, you would think Expedia would send an original email but nooo, they send yet another automated email, "As indicated on our initial email, we attempted multiple times to obtain the penalty waiver as courtesy to our partner. Despite our best efforts, we have been unable to secure a waiver for your request for this booking." Expedia should be avoided at all costs. Quick to sell tickets but if you have a flight delay or something goes wrong expect a nightmare to get any service back. I am on hold with angela for 1.5 hours and still holding trying to sort our a flight where the airline is delayed and where the pax connection will be missed. No help, no supervisor on duty, am being told they do not have the airline rules on their files and the operator is on hold with the airline. Just a disaster don’t waste your time and effort better book directly with the airline in question

This company sold me a ticket for an airline that was on strike. I paid $1200. A few days later I get an email from the airline saying the flight may be cancelled due to the strike. I call Expedia to rebook but no luck. They say I have to wait until it's officially cancelled. I ask if I can get a refund. No, only when it's cancelled. OK. A few days later the flight is officially cancelled. I call Expedia. They cancel my flight for me and tell me I will get a refund. But the guy is having technical issues. I spend an hour on the phone. He says he will take care of it and he will call in 72 hours. Never happened. Since then I have spoken to 2 more agents that promised me a refund and now they are telling me they can't help me. Terrible business practice.

Updated on 8/3/2022: SCAMMERS! Follow up from my previous review: They “were issuing a refund for my cancellation”. However, the CC was incorrect. Not the one I used, have, nor have ever had. Contacted them. They argued with me. Continued to state that was the CC I used. I tried 4 different representatives to correct. Same answer. “We can only issue the refund to the CC you used to make the reservation.” Again and again I told them that was not my card. I had proof from my statement. They asked me to send a screenshot. I did. FOUR times to each representative. Each time, not good enough. They wanted to see my full statement. NO! I’m not sending them my full statement. All they need to see is the charge, the date, and the card used.

Contacted my CC. They escalated it to their fraud department. They contacted Expedia. While under investigation my CC company reversed the charge. I got an email today. “Your bank has contacted us and they have issued the refund. If you have any further questions, contact your bank.” They were NEVER going to issue my refund. EVER! Thankfully I use a fantastic credit card company that promptly handled this for me. LIERS! CHEATERS!! SCAMMERS!!!

    My advice to everyone:
    1. DO NOT USE EXPEDIA!!

    2. If this happens to you, contact your bank or CC. They should be able to handle it for you.

Obviously Expedia was never going to do it and was using a bogus CC number to “issue my refund”. THIS IS FRAUD!! As stated by my CC company. So thankful they stepped in and called them on the carpet about it and MY CC reversed the charge. It was never a refund from Expedia but a charge reversal from my CC company!! Unbelievable that they can try and get away with stealing your money. If this has happened to others, there needs to be a collective lawsuit against these crooks!

Original review: Never use Expedia. I booked a reservation with my credit card. Confirmation was received. I canceled the reservation. The email shows an incorrect credit card for the refund. Numerous times I have tried to resolve the issue and the response has been the same “we can only credit to the account used for payment.” I provided screenshots that show the card used. The response “that is not the card you used to make the reservation.” So that means, I’m not receiving my refund!! I’ve had to now go through my credit card company to resolve this issue. They are escalating it to their fraud department. SCAMMERS!!!

I booked flights for a trip to Europe thru Expedia. It was to be followed by a cruise, which has been planned and saved for, for many years. The Expedia agent misspelled my name. I contacted them and requested a correction. The agent advised he would contact the airline for approval and to wait 72 hours or 3 days. After waiting 4 days without a response, I called Expedia. They can/will not correct the spelling and I was told it is up to the airline. They offered to send an email to the airline. I was told to wait another 3 days. To resolve the problem, I offered to cancel the flight, (eventually I would receive a refund) and immediately rebook during our phone call. To do that, I would need to pay a cancellation fee plus an additional cost as the airfare had increased since my original booking - approx. $1000 in total! To correct their mistake. I refused and was told to wait another 3 days.

I called back and said that since Expedia made the error, they should be accountable and pay the resultant cancellation fee and the difference in price. That is impossible and against the airline rules, I was told. I asked that a supervisor be consulted. The reply was, he already had. So the airline is saying the responsibility is with Expedia and they say it is up to the airline and the passenger is expected to pay for their error! Later that day, I learned I will not be allowed to board the plane unless the name on the ticket is consistent with my passport. I cannot use a ticket I paid for, unless I pay another $1000! Btw, Expedia did listen to the recorded call, when I booked the flights, and the agent did not ask for the spelling of my name. So another call back to Expedia and I asked for the issue escalation process. I want this problem solved. No luck. Just told to wait 72 hours.

Now I am a senior, I've already paid $5500. for hotels, the flights, a cruise, insurance and feel I am being coerced into paying another grand for Expedia's clerical error OR, not take my trip of a lifetime and lose all my money. Expedia is not being accountable and make solving the problem impossible and by blaming the airline for their error. Charging customers extra, to correct mistakes Expedia make, is almost criminal. It is exploiting customers. To be fair, the agents are polite.

I've heard "apologize for the inconvenience" repeatedly. They are stating the narrative they are trained to and cannot help.

I have contacted Visa to see if I can be refunded for the flight, as I am not allowed to board the plane even though I paid for it, in full! Dispute resolution may take 8 weeks, long after my trip would be over. I have receipts and my itinerary with misspelled name and would transfer or put it on this report but as a senior am not tech smart. Please, stay away from Expedia. Go to the airlines directly, save your money.

After much delay the hotel found us what I would call a substandard room. My friends arrived later that day and their reservation also was not sent from Expedia to the hotel. The hotel offered a room to my friends in their attic that was around 90 degrees, and no air conditioning. At 10pm my friends had to go to another hotel. After significant effort we did get our money refunded by Expedia. I booked all of my other hotels at Booking.com. No money up front and all of our bookings were flawless (8 other hotel bookings). Expedia has ruined our anniversary. I will never use them again. My wife and I, looked to celebrate our 2 year anniversary. We have previously used CheapCaribbean.com, Booking.com, and more recently Expedia.com for our travel bookings. We found the Marigot Bay Resort advertised on Expedia as an all-inclusive stay. The advertisement showed all the popular amenities (Free Wifi, All Inclusive, Breakfast Included, Air Conditioning, Parking Included, and Spa). We continued to proceed with the booking. We decided to upgrade our room to the Junior Suite, 1 King Bed, Bay View. The details below the room was “Sleeps 2, 1 King Bed, Free Breakfast, Free Valet Parking, All-inclusive”.

It was an additional cost to our total but we selected the upgrade. The next screen was our flight details. After selecting our flight, it asked us to “review your trip”. We selected the “Next: Final Details”. The next screen listed the stay and flight info but under the “Who’s checking in?”. It listed the resort, time of stay, and room with details. The details showed ✅All-inclusive, ✅Free parking, ✅Free Wifi.

We arrived at the resort June 23rd, 2022. We checked in to find the resort attempting to upgrade us to all-inclusive. We explained we already purchased an all inclusive stay. They informed us our package was breakfast only. We called Expedia to understand the mishap. We spoke to Giselle explaining that “All-Inclusive” was listed throughout the reservation process. She sent us an email requesting screenshots of our reservation. We explained the misleading information on Expedia.com. Giselle admitted to a mishap on their website. She proceeded to apologize and call the resort to attempt to offer us an all-inclusive stay at the rate booked. The resort refused to honor it. Giselle then spoke to a manager at Expedia and created a case number. Giselle then explained to keep any additional receipts and submitted our charges to Expedia for reimbursement.

My wife then clarified that it would a refund and not a website credit. Giselle confirmed it would be 100% refunded. We asked for this to be emailed to us in writing. We foresaw it being an issue to be refunded, and we were 100% correct. She assured us that it would be emailed and an explanation would be placed in the notes of the case number **. She explained that reimbursement would need to be submitted within 5 business days. She could not email it at that specific time but it would be emailed. We believed her. We went on celebrating our anniversary with the assumption that any expense for lunch, dinner, and drinks would be repaid by Expedia. We never received any email or phone calls from Expedia.

We had a great stay at Marigot Bay. We checked out from the resort with $931.88 bill. We paid it in full assuming we would be able to submit it to Expedia for a reimbursement. We called as soon as we returned to the US. We landed back in New York on June 28th, 2022. I called Expedia around 8pm EST. I explain the situation. I was told a supervisor would give me a call to help with the issue. I received a call from Mike, 30 minutes later. Unfortunately, I was in the restroom and missed the call. He left a message stating that he was returning my call but missed me. He would schedule another follow-up call. I received an email from a supervisor named JC at 8:34pm EST. JC explained that they tried to call us but will schedule another follow-up.

The local business hours were 9am to 9pm. No one tried to call again. All I received was another email saying the same thing at 9:39pm EST. However, I had no missed calls or voice messages. I called Expedia the next day at 9:32 am EST. I didn’t want to miss the “5 business days” previously explained by Giselle. I had to explain the situation to a new representative. I was transferred to a supervisor name Emilio. Emilio stated what was explained to me isn’t how it works. I told him I was explained to charge my card with assumption for reimbursement because that is what was explained to me. He stated he would need to listen to the recording with Giselle before issuing a refund. He would need 72 hours to investigate the issue. He kept assuring me that I would have someone call me back. I told him if no one calls me back. I would be calling back no later then Tuesday, July 5th

I received no callback or email from Expedia. So, I called back on July 5th asking to speak to a supervisor. The representative would not and did not want to transfer me. I had to explain the situation to her. This was probably our 6th time explaining this situation to an Expedia employee. She kept putting us on hold. I’m assuming being a middle person between us and the supervisor. She informed me of a response no one else had told us. It contradicted the agreement explained to us by Giselle and the supervisor on duty back on June 23rd. She stated that the package we purchased was breakfast only. It wasn’t an all inclusive stay.

I told her that I explained it was an Expedia issue and a refund would be issued for any expenses occurred for food and alcohol at the resort. I explain Emilio was supposed to listen to the recording and callback. He didn’t. She emphasized a statement that we didn’t purchase an all inclusive stay. It was breakfast only. I had to continue to ask for a supervisor. She finally transferred Milan **. Milan explained the same situation that he would need to listen to the recording and call me back. He would need 72 hours. We explained we had already heard that from Emilio but we failed to get a return phone call. He said he would callback in 4 hrs. We told him if he doesn’t callback we will callback everyday until we get an update on our refund. He said ok. He didn’t give us a callback.

I called again today (July 6th). I had to explain the situation an 8th time. We were transferred to Mike explaining to him the situation. He explained that this was a breakfast only booking. I asked him to go to the notes and recording from June 23rd. He told me to hold. Mike returned explaining different policies regarding all-inclusive packages. I thought he was going to review the notes and recording. I asked if he had reviewed the recording. He replied that an investigation was done and it was decided that it was not their mishap. I booked a breakfast only location. It was apparent Expedia had no intentions of keeping their word.

They had conducted an investigation and never called and/or email myself or my wife about their findings. They had taken contact info for both of us. It’s a deliberate effort to mislead the consumer. The service we received is horrible. Expedia tells a customer you were wrong and will fix the issue. Expedia never communicated with the customer about the finds. Expedia goes back on its promise to a customer and leaves them with $900 of wrongful expenses. Mike told us we will not be reimbursed for any expenses. Use Expedia at your own risk. We have screenshots and videos.

DO NOT book with Expedia. I cannot stress this enough. My husband and I were supposed to fly from Boston to Spain for our honeymoon. We booked both our flights and hotel stay through Expedia. We found out the hard way at the airport that Spain requires a booster if you got your vaccines over 9 months ago or a negative test. By the time we got our negative tests back, we had missed our flight.

Here is where the nightmare began. We called the airline about rebooking flights, but they informed us that because we booked through Expedia, they were the only ones who could change it. We called Expedia, and they informed us that only our airline could fix it. We called the airline again and we told them Expedia sent us to them, and they said to call Expedia. Expedia said they could not do anything because we were already checked into the flight.

We called the airline once again (lots of being on hold), and they said to wait until there were the airline representatives at the airport. We waited for two hours and got in line to speak with them. They told us to call Expedia. We explained that they could not help us because “we were already checked in,” but luckily another worker overheard us and said she was able to uncheck us in. she said Expedia would then be able to do whatever they would like with the flights. We call Expedia, and they tell us that we were considered a “no show,” the tickets we bought no longer have value and there is nothing they can do. We have also lost our return flight.

So, we have to purchase new tickets for four days later that cost us thousands of dollars. Now we need to contact our hotel about perhaps switching our days around since we were already missing four days of our stay. The hotel said they could have helped us had we booked through them directly, but because we booked through Expedia, we had to contact them. Expedia says they will contact the hotel (which was confusing because we already had). The representative at Expedia then tells us that the hotel cannot do anything for us because we were considered already checked in, and if we want to stay there longer we will have to make a new booking.

Had we not booked with Expedia, we could have gotten assistance with this nightmare. At least we learned a lesson: Always book directly through the company, never through another party. We will never be using Expedia again.

When we entered the room, there were bugs everywhere crawling the ceiling, walls, pillows. Called the hotel to change rooms and they said they were booked and they can't give a refund due to reservation through Expedia. They can only come and vacuum the bugs. It was a nightmare. Who wants to sleep in a room and pay 260 a night to have bugs crawling around your pillows, bed, walls window...

We asked the front desk for a credit or discount and she asked us to call the manager next week as she was out on vacation. When we talked to the hotel manager, she said the max she can do is 30/ night credit. She refused to give any info. other than her first name. This was the supervisor who was extremely rude.

In other words, Expedia does not care about consumer satisfaction. they put their partners before consumers because they make more money from them than one consumer making a reservation. Beware, if you have issues with a hotel when you have made your res. through Expedia, call them immediately to change hotel even though you paid nonrefundable fee for the nights and do not believe any lies the hotel tell you that there is nothing they can do since it was paid already through Expedia and no refunds.

My husband and I are traveling internationally, and our son directed us to Skyscanner.com. SkyScanner shows you multiple flights. However, I, Mom, went through another company first, and they added excess fees adding up to over a $1000, and had a time-out feature, plus there appeared to be NO way to contact them. Thank God the credit card didn't go through in their 20-minute time count down. Because of that negative experience we, meaning I, Mom, decided to go back to what our son first recommend.

On Skyscanner.com I found a several flights, multiple times and long and short layovers. The prices changed considerably when I entered different dates. To discover why, I, Mom, went on Priceline.com and punched in dates and looked at the calendar that shows the actual prices for that particular day. Now side by side on the computer screen I clicked back to the Skysannner.com screen. Punched in the cheaper flights, by date, that I saw on Priceline.com, and Skysanner.com showed cheaper flights. The flights were half the price of going through the airline directly. I know because I then tried to book through several airlines directly and the price doubled.

On the Skysanner.com screen, I looked at the list beneath, what company choices I could book through. I looked at the stars, googled several booking companies and read reviews and then decided. Although Expedia was $300 more than the cheapest, but they were not the most expensive, I decided their customer service reviews were good, better than most.

Several of the other booking companies had bad customer service reviews and no customer service person to speak with. Reviews of other companies said things like, "the phones rings and rings," and "after waiting hours for someone to pick up, someone finally comes on the line and hangs up." I don't need that kind of Customer Service. One lady did house chores, took her phone to the grocery store and went home, finally got a person on the line, and the Customer Service Representative hung up. Oh yeah, that review pushed me to go through Expedia based on their reviews of good Customer Service.

After booking and it was easy to book, no excessive or added fees, I needed to talk to Expedia Customer Service, because I am at a preschool level regarding international flights, especially now. I did not understand so many things after booking the international flight requirements, and how do I book seating. Confused I called past midnight, chatted with a live person fairly quickly, and that conversation lasted into the early hours of the morning. Expedia Customer Service Representative talked me through the whole process, and called my home when I was still confused. Walked me through the process on my computer, then gave me another contact number for my new question. Expedia Customer Service answered again, fairly quickly, they spoke with me and explained things in more detail. IT WAS AWESOME TO SPEAK WITH A LIVE PERSON IN THE EARLY AM HOURS. They were so nice.

Expedia will not help with any problems. They say you have to talk to airline then the airline says talk to them. I had spent almost 8.5 hours on hold one day during my vacation between them and the airline and still have not been helped. Plus, the agents you chat with are not helpful and I have no idea how much time I have wasted on texting. So even if you purchase the protection, it's very clear that you missed connections because of the airline, and tried to resolve a problem for days and days beforehand through multiple platforms and countless people they won't even pretend to help. Maybe it's just my circumstances and to other people none of this would be a big deal. However, if you were delayed by almost three days getting to your destination and you want to reschedule your return flight they will not do it. If the airlines lose both checked bags they will not help. They won't even point you in the right direction when you ask what the procedure is.

Please don't trust Expedia in planning your vacation, expedia ruined my vacation that we planned after 3 years. I booked a hotel "La Malmasion boutique hotel" almost 2 months ahead of time so I got a good rate for my hotel, but the night before I could check in to the hotel I received an email from expedia that they canceled my hotel. I contacted expedia and they took no responsibility arguing that hotel canceled and they can't do anything, by then the hotel's price was so high that I could only find a hotel with lower rank and farther from the location of the first hotel with the price I paid 2 months ago. Later I contacted the hotel that had canceled my reservation and they said they never got my reservation from expedia and I was not the only case and it happened with a number of other guest.

Expedia never followed up regarding this case they just gave me a case number that is useless because after 3 weeks from the discussion with expedia they never got back to me and never compensated me for ruining my family and my vacation. The customer service that I got from expedia is the worst I have ever got with any company. The standard is not up to 3rd world country let alone North America. I wouldn't recommend this website or their services to anybody. If you want to enjoy your time never trust "Expedia".

Expedia advertises.. "Your one-stop travel site for your dream vacation." "Book your entire trip in one place" and "We're with you every step of the way." FALSE ADVERTISEMENT... BEWARE! On 5/19 my friend and I booked a complete vacation package for 4 adults/1 child through Expedia with flights and resort to the Bahamas leaving 6/12. While searching for airport transfers, we discovered Expedia had booked our flights to Nassau and our resort in Freeport. It was not until this time that we realized they were two separate islands!

We called Expedia on 6/9 and spent HOURS being transferred from one agent to another. Although each agent was very apologetic and tried to help, they were unable to find us a different or connecting flight to Freeport. The next option was to change hotels, but they were unable to find a comparable all inclusive resort that allowed children in Nassau for our dates. After two days of trying to fix, our only option was to cancel the complete trip days before we were to leave. A refund for resort was given but only vouchers for airlines in which 1 airline charges a $99 fee for each ticket to change. We felt Expedia needed to make this right for their huge error and asked to expedite our problem to headquarters. We were first we were told we would hear back in 72 hours. After contacting them 96 hours later, we were told it would be another 5-7 days.

We finally heard back from headquarters on 6/16. The lack of responsibility and customer service from headquarters was appalling. We were told there was nothing more they were WILLING to do, additional flight charges were out of their hands, it was not their fault but OURS for not noticing the airport error. Expedia is NOT a company that stands behind their services and they would rather place the blame on the customer than take responsibility for their errors. It was even pointed out to them that their website was still incorrectly booking the wrong airport with resort package. As of 6/16, the website is NOW corrected and giving correct flights. A formal complaint has been made with BBB, but wanted to warn and make others aware.

Expedia refunded both flights without telling us. We didn't find out until we were at the airport because our ticket status was refunded. We had to pay last minute cancelation fees on our Airbnb, had already got expensive covid tests for getting on the plane, had to buy new tickets which were now double the price, and we were not allowed to refund our flight we had booked to replace the canceled flight.

Both me and my bf had to spend an extra $1000 each because of their mistake, and even after contacting Expedia twice, they won't do anything about it. Save yourself the trouble and book flights through the airline provider directly. Don't get caught in the loop where the airline provider says you need to contact Expedia, and Expedia tells you they can't do anything because they aren't the airline provider.

They straight up LIE about the total price of their packages to purposefully mislead consumers into thinking they are affordable. I put in my search details, they quote a total trip package, that says specifically a FLIGHT+STAY+CAR. All three options included in that price. It lets you pick you various hotel and flight, with certain options costing more but at least a couple $0 extra, so included in the total trip price. But when it comes to pick out car details, it only allows you to add a car with at least $80 extra. There are no standard options, only a car that is an additional $80 dollars. I tried talking to a rep named Krislyn hoping this was an error. Big mistake.

The rep was beyond useless, googled the exact same thing I did, and brilliant response was "I don't know, stuff just costs extra." Then she claimed the options for it must have expired, so I ran the search again and got the same results, only cars that cost $80 extra (and this is for the tiniest economy car, literally anything less than this would be a bike). Then she claimed that the three option package, only includes two options, the third is extra. I repeatedly explained that at the start, the website is quoting a price on a package that includes all three options. I wanted to know why it is not including all three options, since that is deliberately falsifying the cost of the package advertised. Then she claimed that they don't have any cars to rent, so it must cost extra. They don't have rental cars. At a major airport. With like 5 rental car companies operating out of it. But they felt it was fine to advertise they have rental cars available, but only for an additional $80.

She repeatedly refused to get me to a manager or supervisor who might actually know why their company is misquoting consumers, or at least someone how had a better reasoning beyond stuff happens, give us more money. So this company is deliberately LYING about their total trip prices and what they have available to force you to pay upgrade fees. False advertising.

I've used Expedia several times, and although I've had a few small problems here and there, I wouldn't say anything was awful, but all of that changed on my last reservation through them. It's pretty simple, I attempted to book a specific hotel, in a specific city, it showed it available, I made the reservation and thought I was done, only to find out Expedia ended up putting my in the same hotel chain, but an entirely different city I never entered or requested. When I noticed this error, I contacted their customer support to change the reservation, noting it was their error not mine, the city they put me I had never heard of, and didn't even know where it was. They flat refused to change the reservation or refund my money, saying there was nothing they could do, and wouldn't even acknowledge their error.

I've since found entire websites and discussion threads dedicated to all the users of Expedia that have had nightmare problems with them, mine is nothing compare to most. Ultimately, most people are forced to reverse their credit card charge to solve the problem. I am doing the same, and closing my account on Expedia. They are not trustworthy, have terrible customer support, and do not deserve your business.

DO NOT BOOK THROUGH EXPEDIA. I promise it is not worth the headache and financial risk as they will sell you insurance when they cannot honor it. I had booked a flight on Expedia for Vueling's airline and had purchased insurance for it. The events that followed suit were absolutely ridiculous. I 1st received a vague email notification from the airline noting of a change or cancellation. It provided a link to manage my booking which led me to their website. When I entered my booking code, it told me that I had to contact customer service directly to manage my booking.

I tried to email, call, message them on FB and Twitter, etc. and could not get ahold of them. The calls always went to a machine and not an actual live person. Eventually, I decided that this was too much of a risk considering Covid and not being able to get in contact with an airline when they send vague changes to my flight. At this point, I still didn't know which part of my flight was canceled or changed.

I then reached out to Expedia customer service to assist in getting my flight canceled ESPECIALLY because they had sold me insurance. They told me that this airline likes to handle all changes and cancellations on their own so Expedia cannot help me. I even received additional charges for international calls from the numbers that Expedia agents had provided me. I spent countless hours on the phone with Expedia and even THEY had trouble contacting the airline. The one time they got through on a 3-way call, the Vueling’s agent told us that we had to deal with a 4th party.

The Expedia agent and Vueling agent were just yelling at each other. It was ridiculous. How can Expedia sell a flight and insurance for an airline that both Expedia and the customer cannot communicate properly with? There is nowhere on Expedia.com that specifies before you purchase that you will not be working with Expedia anymore. I asked Expedia how I would know that the airline works on their own and they said I could call them to confirm, like what.... I'm gonna go on a 30 minute to 1 hour hold every time I consider booking an international flight on Expedia?! No thank you.

In addition, my insurance claim was denied because Covid apparently isn’t considered an "unforeseen event" since the pandemic was declared in March 2020 and anything that happens after that is seen as foreseeable. Yes, the pandemic was declared in March 2020, but no one predicted that it would last more than 2 years. There are still new strain outbreaks all over the world and countries have shut down again just recently. I bought this insurance because I knew there was a chance that Covid could impact travel again. However, I chose to try to cancel even earlier after realizing that I am unable to communicate with the airline.

Through looking online at other customer's experiences, I found people whose flight was changed close to departure and were unable to get in contact with the airline which is exactly what I feared would happen to me. Not being able to communicate with the airline was entirely unforeseeable because as a loyal customer of Expedia, I trusted that when booking through their website, I would be able to easily manage my flight. This is absolutely the worst Expedia experience I've had. I lost $600 through this experience and they've lost a customer for life. Please DON'T EVER book through them.

I used EXPEDIA and even bought the insurance which was another waste of money, EXPEDIA has had several opportunities to make things right, to give good customer service for a hardship situation and for the past month of stress this has caused. But they refuse and keep repeating and sending me the same email "please contact airline directly."

I will NEVER use EXPEDIA again because they are not there to help when a hardship comes up and I consider it fraud to sell me something under their company name but then claim they are not responsible for it! I did EXACTLY as instructed, and now after nearly 2 months and 10 conversations with other customer service reps, I still don't have a refund because now all of a sudden it's dependent on the hotel giving Expedia a refund for my early checkout. This was never explained to me, never part of what I was told, I was told it would be a frictionless refund experience. I was even skeptical of this approach so I asked multiple times on this (again, documented) chat conversation and Expedia rep assured me it would be no problem, no questions asked.

Expedia has shown no remorse or acknowledgement of mistake, and no willingness to live up to what they promised me and now as a result I'm in the hole like $500. After explaining my case, this is certainly the worst and least genuine customer service experience I've ever had with a hospitality company. Anyway, I called Expedia for a refund and spent a whole day on the phone. The CS rep told me that they would refund me the airline ticket cost in 7 - 8 weeks, but not the flight protection. They refused my refund because I can only cancel within 15 days, but in my case, this is not me who canceled the flight and in my case, I can't even use this flight protection.

My flight was supposed to be in August, and I'm not the one who canceled the flight. In my understanding, if the flight has been canceled, then the flight protection for this flight should be canceled automatically, since the flight protection only covers the travel dates from August 12th through September 10th. I also asked them why is refund time 7-8 weeks, usually it is 7 business days. I called the Scandinavian airlines, and they told me that the refund time is 7 business days. We had a rather unpleasant experience booking a flight. When I choose a flight, I am NOT expecting the prices to DOUBLE within a few minutes of me checking out. A company this big should be able to guarantee the price they advertise for more than 30 seconds. This feels like people are being exploited because they get stuck with a flight that they had carefully chosen and agreed on with family and friends and then panic and agree to buy before the price rises even more. That's why I had stopped using websites like this before but my husband had credits we had to use. However, this didn't even work. It showed in the beginning that it is applied to eligible flights and that was it. Doesn't show which flights are eligible or what to look out for so we could only assume that it was applied to the ones it showed us (why would it even show us ineligible flights if we clicked using credits without clearly labeling it, right?).

We ended up getting stuck overpaying and the credits weren't deducted at the end. We called the helpline and even though the lady was very friendly, Expedia's solution was to book a new, now even more ridiculously expensive flight, apply the credits, then cancel the old flight because just applying our credits after payment wasn't an option. Yet another convenient red tape that serves the company. After over an hour, we gave up. I was shocked to discover that it had gotten worse since I last used it. We are a Manager and IT Specialist in our 30s so this is not a problem of not knowing how to use a website or what to look out for. It is purposely made in a way that generates more money for them. On the connecting flight I was given an economy seat. When I spoke to Expedia, they said "Sorry, in your small print it says this can happen" and yes, they stuck to this. This is the amazing piece. I paid for 1st class, do make a few extra dollars, literally they made $154 by placing me in economy. I imagine they do this many times a day, which can add up to a lot of "scam" money.

I have never heard of such a thing, but they were right, it was in the small print. When you order your ticket, you better pray you get what you're looking for, read the small print. Because they will get you. Even if they only did this .5% of the time. This would generate 10s of millions of dollars of free money to them every year. I will never use Expedia again, nor will my family. In 2021-2022 my family spent almost $100k with Expedia. Only to be told "**." We want our $154. Lol what a joke.

I have booked travel with Expedia for many years. I travel for work and Expedia seemed to provide a simplified platform to book hotels, cars and flights in one go. As of the last few years, it has been increasingly difficult to resolve issues. If you travel often or for work, you will understand what I mean. When the customer is more informed and capable than the customer service, and the customer is having to resolve the problem between hotel or airline while customer service stands by in confusion, this is a sign of an incompetent and sloppy business.

Recently they have withheld a $1000 booking for a rental car that was not available to me once I arrived. I was first told that I would be refunded by a chat agent and the reservation was canceled. This wasn't true. I was told again and again the same thing across multiple employees that said they were notifying their "higher ups". I had contacted the rental car company who told me it is Expedia who must release the funds. Long story short, I have had to file an official complaint with my bank and BBB. Expedia also canceled a flight without my knowledge and left me in a bind. The agent could not "get the airline on the line."

DO NOT BOOK THROUGH THIS PLATFORM. Go directly to the hotel, car rental agency or airline. Expedia doesn't even save you much money and you will have a huge headache. It is not really the customer service and I hope they are not blamed. It must be those who train and who have more authority running such a poor operation.

On March 25, 2022, I planned a long weekend trip for my wife and I. I made the reservation through Expedia and when I was booking the trip, an option appeared for Travel Guard Hotel Booking Protection Plan. There were all kinds of benefits listed and for only $24.95, it looked like a no brainer. Well, a few days before my trip, I had an employee come down sick and realized I was going to have to work the weekend I had planned to be gone. I called the hotel I was going to stay at and was told there was a no cancellation policy and I could not get a refund.

I remembered I had bought the trip insurance and reached out to them for instructions on how to file a claim. I had to fill out a detailed form explaining my situation and 3 weeks later was told that my reason for not being able to travel was not covered by the policy. People don't book trips and then cancel them for the fun of it. I would have loved to take the trip and not have to work. My biggest complaint is the ease of purchasing the policy and the lack of transparency of what is actually covered. It is misleading to think you are covered, but need an act of God to actually have insurance. Needless to say, I will NEVER buy another gimmicky trip warranty and ABSOLUTELY never use Expedia for any traveling I do in the future.

I never thought anything bad about Expedia until I actually dealt with them. I booked a car and needed to change minor details. Expedia booked me with Dollar. No one at either business could simply change the pickup and drop-off times. Expedia told me to cancel and rebook and I would get a full refund. Not so. I had to spend considerable time getting my refund. After I was told I'd get a full refund because they could not help make the minor change. I got $3.84. That meant searching through Expedia's website. Eventually I spoke with a really nice young woman who secured my refund. I never thought making a minor change would be so unpleasant.

Unethical, zero empathy, zero customer support, predatory booking and horrible refund policy in light of the pandemic that was raging just 5 short months ago. That just scratches the surface for this miserable excuse of a company. I've been a long time customer of Expedia but, I'll no longer be booking ANY travel through them ever again. In short, we had a trip booked and when the COVID Omicron variant spiked we opted to stay safe not take our planned trip. I requested a refund through Expedia on a car rental and they referred me to the car rental company. After going to them, the car rental company stated they could not provide the refund because Expedia had bought a wholesale block of car rentals and that matter of refund would rest with Expedia.

I immediately went back to Expedia and requested a refund and cited the world health conditions as my reason for wanting a refund since we opted not to travel with the COVID numbers so high. They flat out refused stating it was policy. I attempted to escalate the matter through them but, got mis-routed on several call attempts, got hold times of over 45 minutes, disconnected and in the end ignored. I went to the BBB to file a complaint and the response from Expedia was to take it up with the car rental company! Shortly after, the BBB closed the complaint which did not sit well with me. I'll never do business with Expedia again and I will be sure everyone I know and who they know to avoid this unprofessional company like the plague.

I bought a refundable airline ticket through Expedia. It was a ticket for travel within Brazil on GOL airlines from Sao Paulo to Maceió. Due to COVID I had to cancel. I had a $464 credit with GOL. I called back less than a year later to rebook and looked at the prices on the Expedia Website. No matter what price flight I picked, it was costing me $464 more than the price of the ticket. I looked at expensive tickets, cheap tickets, and all sort of prices just to make sure. Every ticket I inquired about they quoted me $464 more than the listed price on their own website. Bottom line, they were not going to give me a refund. They scammed me.

I called several times. I am sure they do this to others. I know of at least one person that has confirmed this happened to them. I eventually bought my ticket through a travel agent in Brazil. He checked and the credit was with GOL airlines, but only Expedia could access it. Expedia should not be able to advertise that it is refundable and then deny me the credit that my account said I still had with that airline.

Booked through Expedia in March for June 17th at the Radisson Hotel Montreal Airport. Just got an e-mail that I cancelled, I didn't. Called the hotel, they said they have no idea, talk to Expedia. Called them, they said that Radisson cancelled it. Reason ended up being the hotel didn't have the room, miscommunication. LOL, most likely they could get more money and dropped us, since it's the weekend for the F1 Grand Prix, the reason we booked it. Anyway, long story short, Expedia apologized, waived the $32 cancellation insurance and gave us a $25 coupon... Are you kidding me???? I told the agent, that's it? She said pretty much yes. Never using Expedia or Radisson, unbelievable. Imagine planning something like this and then they just outright cancel it and not try to fix it and make it right for the consumer. Very surprised, frustrated and in shock that I am experiencing this through a company as large as Expedia. Consumer beware.

This is company is the absolute worst traveling company to ever deal with. Just remember they are just a middle man for your travel plans, and will never take any responsibility for any problems that occur. My first experience was when my fiancé used them in 2014 on a trip to Europe. We were stranded in France at the airport for 14 hours because they didn’t book the flight correctly. We got engaged in that day and was a total disaster.

2021 I hoped things changed so I decided to use them again. This place was in Atlantic City and once we walked in we could see this place was a dive. It was infested with bedbugs, blood on the sheets and the bathroom covered in ** and **. They took no responsibility and never got a refund. This time around my friend is getting married so I booked a hotel in the Poconos. It was suppose to be paid when I arrived at the hotel, but took the 489.000 instantly. I called the hotel and the customer rep said they would not charge any fees. Expedia still refuses to give me my money back. Two hours of dealing with their horrible customer service.

Please do not use this group to book a vacation. If people gave reviews it is because they had no issues, but if there is an issue they will leave you stranded. Looks at all the groups of people they have screwed over. Go directly to the hotel, airline, or car company. These guys charge fees and don’t help with any situation.

I needed to cancel my hotel reservation because firstly I reserved a room with a bathtub which I need for a disability I have and they changed it to a room without a bathtub and then after that my flight was cancelled by the airline so I couldn't stay at the hotel anyway. Expedia kept giving me the runaround about the refund. They say it's up to the hotel to approve but I contacted the hotel weeks ago and their third party department said they approved the refund and contacted Expedia to process it but that Expedia would not reply to them and yet when I contacted Expedia they kept claiming they never got any messages from the hotel despite all evidence to the contrary, multiple emails from the hotel department with contact info and everything.

One day at 1 am I got another email from Expedia again falsely claiming they didn't get the information from the hotel in order to refund it but that they would contact me in 8 hours at the latest with an update, but when I reminded them I had told them many times that the hotel did approve the refund and provided the emails proving it, they simply never replied, even 8 days after they said they would. I had to dispute the charge with my card since Expedia completely stopped acting in good faith and stopped all communication past their own deadline they set and wouldn't refund my reservation despite their own requirements they set being met.

Then the real kicker, after my dispute was of course decided in my favor, I finally got a response about my refund from Expedia which just said "Thank you for contacting Expedia with regards on your refund request with Bellagio. Due to your dispute on your bank we highly request you to contact your bank directly for your refund request." Wow! I never heard such a thing! They just want customers to file disputes rather than they refunding it themselves! I'm guessing the company puts punitive action against the customer service agents when they process refunds, even if those refunds are legally required or meet Expedia's own conditions for refund!! They will literally make you dispute it with your card rather than process it themselves!!

I have been an Expedia customer for over 20 years. I not only used them for my personal travels but also used them for my business. Except some glitches here and there, I was moderately happy with their service. That was until three weeks ago. I booked a hotel through them for a tenant at Stayable Suites, St. Augustine. When the tenant arrived, the hotel staff was so rude and insisted for a $100 deposit before they could get in to their room. With no money at hand, they called me and I in turn called Expedia. After so many hours of trying they were not able to help and I end up putting them in another hotel.

A week ago, I booked a room at TRYP by Wyndham Bogotá Embajada in Bogota, Colombia. By mistake, I booked for 29th of April instead of 27th of April. I went to the online chat and after many attempts it connected me to someone in India. The call center operator said that my reservation cannot be changed. When I pointed out that Expedia says it is up to the Hotel, he said he will call them. Then he came back and said the call doesn’t go through. He suggested that he will send them an email and the response would take 72 hours and I agreed.

Next day I tried again on the online chat and I got a different person. His first name was Zaid. He had no clue about the previous conversations nor of any emails send to the hotel. I repeated again and he said he will call the hotel. Then he came back and said the calls are not going through. So, I called the hotel and without any problem I was connected to a reservation specialist.

I invited the Expedia rep to have a three way call so that I can prove that there is nothing wrong with the phone calls. However, he refused saying it is against the company rules. I asked for a supervisor and he said none is available. He again said that he is going to send them an email. He must have been frustrated, because he closed the text messages before I could finish and blocked me from using the text messages. Since then when I use the text message, the following message appears. "There is a limit to the the number of words.." So I will try to write again.

However, today Expedia wants to charge me an extra $418 on top of my credit to buy another ticket. That is about 50% of my airline credit, a total rip-off. Back in January, when I called the airline, they said it was Expedia's responsibility and vice versa. The back-and-forth nearly killed me and now we're back in the same spot. The agent I have spoken to on the phone today sent out an email to the Asiana Airlines requesting my refund. Only to find out that she sent it to the wrong office, not the one in the US. Actually, that's not even the only mistake.

On the phone, she said there was a "no-show" fee when in fact I cancelled months prior to the trip (I had to cancel due to COVID). Without explanation, she apologized but I still do not know if that fee is still added to my account. I DO NOT TRUST EXPEDIA WHATSOEVER. They could've done this to me back in January and what if the Airlines never even received an email?! I guess I have to keep trying and call the airlines to check if they received that email because if the Airline is saying it's Expedia's responsibility then surely they would sign the approval form, right?

I was trying to book a flight for my Grandpa's funeral. I tried to book a flight and paid for the cancellation insurance. It said I could cancel for unforeseen circumstances. That being said, the app said that the transaction didn't go through. So the next day I had my girlfriend buy me a plane ticket. I then realized one of the first plane tickets did indeed go through. I accidentally had two tickets because one did go through from yesterday. I called them up and asked to cancel. I told them the situation about how I accidentally double-booked. They said that wasn't a legitimate reason and would have to go through insurance. The insurance told me that they weren't the ones to be able to do that so I had to go through Expedia.

The Expedia team has told me they cannot call me back once they have found a solution - I can only hold or hang up and start all over again. EXPEDIA INSURANCE IS CLEARLY A SCAM.

Do not, under any circumstances, use Expedia. We had to cancel flights at Christmas time due to Omicron and were given flight credits. When we tried to redeem them on the app - in January, for travel in summer - it only allowed for one-way bookings. When I logged into the desktop version, it has the same problem. Turning then to the chatbot for help, that is also thoroughly useless. If you want any hope of actual help, you need to ask for a live agent (not that you can speak to them - it's still on chat). So having worked out where we want to go and when, I have spent no less than three hours (literally) online only to be told the 'fare base' rules for our flight credits don't allow that. When I asked "what do they allow", all the agent can say is "pick a different date or destination" (which is not an answer to the question). In sum, no one is able to help you. This is a catastrophically horrible customer experience. Avoid this company like the plague.

After accidentally booking this hotel, expecting it to be close by, I immediately called up Expedia to have this canceled and refunded. I spoke to 3 different representatives on 3 separate occasions for this and was promised a refund each time, which I never received. Not even one single email to state that the ask has been acknowledged. This is horrible customer service for a mistake made by the system which Expedia should be taking responsibility for. Luckily, on the fourth call, I was finally helped by a gentleman named Reiner ** who was able to fulfill my request. He was of great help and acted quickly.

Of the reasons that you may have heard to avoid booking your vacations through Expedia, let me give you one more, All in all, after 3 attempts to resolve this with Customer Service, I would suggest avoiding Expedia in any of your travel needs. Whatever ease you think you get from searching everything in one location, you will pay for 10 fold if something goes wrong.

My wife and I decided to book a cruise for November of 2021 for the 2 of us and our stepson. We booked the airfare for the cruise through Expedia.com. After hearing of increased Covid restrictions and a change in flight time by Delta, we decided that this type of vacation wasn’t a viable option for us. Expedia gave us airfare credits to be used in the future for the flights. In January of this year we decided to use those credits for a flight to Orlando leaving Minneapolis on March 17th and returning on March 20th. This past Friday (March 4th), we logged into Expedia.com and noticed we still had over a $300 credit per passenger that had to be used by August 9th. Nowhere did it say that these credits were already being used for our Orlando trip. We decided to book a trip using these credits to Los Angeles in July. This is a trip we would have never booked if we didn’t have the credits to do so.

On Saturday we logged back into Expedia.com to find out that our Orlando trip no longer existed. This is a trip that we have already rented a house and car for. A trip that was supposed to happen 12 days from then. I called Customer Service and after getting the run around from Level 1 I was finally transferred to a supervisor (at least that is what I was told). The supervisor could do nothing to resolve this. I wanted my trip to LA cancelled and the original trip to Orlando back on my account at the original cost. I was audibly upset after 1 hour and 10 minutes and the supervisor I was speaking it told me it’s obviously I don’t want her help. I did want her help, however she was not able to help me. Her choice of words were poor at best. She also went on to say that they “Always suggest you call Expedia to use credits.”

She kept repeating this phrase as if it was some sort of protection for her and Expedia. The truth is, not once was I told that. Not by any representative, nor the website prior to me booking the unnecessary Los Angeles trip. This morning I began Customer Service chat with a representative Galal on Expedia’s website. Her lack of understanding was unbelievable. She read the explanation that I concisely spelled out, and came up with my problem being that I no longer had a hotel. Her inability to determine the problem was exacerbating.

When she finally understood my problem, her solution was to cancel all the flights with me receiving a refund for my newly purchased departure on Delta and for me to handle the return flights with Sun Country on my own. In addition to this, her solution would have cost me an additional $690.03 for just rebooking the Delta flight. Attached are screenshots of that conversation. All in all, after 3 attempts to resolve this with Customer Service, I would suggest avoiding Expedia in any of your travel needs. Whatever ease you think you get from searching everything in one location, you will pay for 10 fold if something goes wrong.

My family and I rented a car through Expedia for when we landed in Calgary which was supposed to be with us for the week as we drove to Vancouver and planned to drop the car off at the Vancouver Hertz location. Instead, on our second day with the car - the BRAKES of the car failed while I was driving with my husband and two children! We luckily managed to bring the car to a halt on the side of the road and attempted to call Hertz roadside assistance which instructed us to leave the car and taxi to our hotel while they arranged to tow it.

After this - Expedia stopped answering our calls completely which left us without a vehicle as there were none available for the entire week. They did not offer any compensation and completely disregarded the issue, incorrectly blaming us for the problem. As a result of this, we had to arrange our own transportation including extra hotel expenses, bus fares, and taxi expenses since our flight back home was scheduled from Calgary. Expedia was absolutely NO help in any of this and even after a week of dealing with back and forth phone calls and a ruined vacation with my young children, they refuse to take any responsibility for the financial damages they caused along with the traumatic experience. Definitely never booking through Expedia again as they have absolutely no regard for customer service or taking responsibility for their own actions!

Beware! My original flight March 2020 cancelled d/t Covid. I was issued credit of 188.00 to use towards future airline purchases. So I finally found a flight, had an additional monies to to cover the cancellation insurance. (Plan to use every dollar/cent of this credit). Plus cancellation insurance is a cheap buy for this flight, so I purchased. However here is the buyer beware!!!! Found a charge on my credit card from Expedia for cost of insurance, why am I getting a charge to credit card when I had enough credit to cover insurance??

After 46 minutes on the phone, the customer service rep advised everything and finally had to get firm for this one to answer my question. Expedia doesn't allow the airline credit extra to be put towards any bag expense or cancellation insurance. This is fraud in that you keep my monies and I am not allowed to use the money I originally spent on for other costs!!!! Are you kidding??? It's not okay that this company keeps my credit which would have paid for the insurance -- then charges my card for what I already had credit to pay for??

This is fraud at its best, double dipping, this needs to be disclosed in airline credit reuse. And if you won't allow me to use the airline credit for cancellation insurance then give the the monies back!!!! Of note I will be disputing this credit card charge as I did have enough credit to cover and you have lost a customer for life. I will never, I said never book one thing thru this fraudulent company again. As long of a wait time to talk to someone, I will direct my time to talk to airline directly....

You could imagine how people are looking at us. What the actual **!! I wish that I would've read the reviews first. This has put an inhibiting effect on my vacation. I called the front desk and they sent an inspector to the room (3503). They changed my room in the same building but a different floor. Now, I turn on the light in the kitchen light in the new room and roaches are in the kitchen.

I asked about them issuing a credit due to my terrible experience and they offered a $50.00 gift card. So, I showed them my bedbug bites and he said, "that's bad." Then, I showed them a video of the roaches and they didn't even react. But he offered $157 credit in my resort fees instead. I've posted the photos of some of my bites. I really looked forward to a great experience at this hotel. We've paid for a 7 day stay for our family vacation. I'm so disappointed, but I will try to make the most of my duration. Hopefully, we don't get bitten anymore in the new room. I hoped that they would've handled the situation more diligently... as if it happened to them personally.

After wasting 45 minutes on the phone with 3 Expedia employees (none of whom had a reasonable ability to speak or understand English), I came to the conclusion they couldn't or weren't going to improve my issue. THEY SHOULD HAVE TOLD ME THAT, CLEARLY IN PLAIN ENGLISH AT THE START OF THE CALL! I then called the airline directly to get this improved. A no-return flight was purchased via Expedia to travel from London, UK to Vancouver, Canada: departure 30/06/2021. Expedia cancelled one of my flight tickets on 27/06/2021. My mother paid extra money to put me back on the same flight. On 29/06/2021 she received another notification which noted that one of my flights in the itinerary was cancelled again. When I called to arrange something, they were confused and said the flight itself was not cancelled, but my ticket was. Expedia customer service could not tell me why and suggested I contact Air Canada, who then sent me back to Expedia, where I managed to get put back on the exact same flight after having to sternly refuse to pay the extra $1000 they requested.

5 hours after the first cancellation, mom received another email; the same flight was cancelled again. I called Air Canada multiple times for guidance and they said it was not their issue and guided me back to Expedia. I spent hours on the phone with Expedia and managed to get my ticket back on the same flight. Later that night, mom received yet another notification saying my tickets were cancelled.

At this point, it is early morning in London and I was due to check into my flight in the next few hours. I called Expedia, there was a 4 hour hold. As I was unable to get my tickets to get on the existing flight I had no choice but to return to my then home; Norwich, UK. After spending money on flights, hotels and trains. Not to mention having gone through the huge emotional labour of saying goodbye to my partner and friends in the UK as my visa had ended. I was stuck in the UK, without a legal visa, wondering where we were going to get the money to go back home.

I called Expedia many times, still no one can explain to me why the tickets were cancelled. I was told all they could do was transfer the booking to a flight the next day but this would have been impossible due to covid travel restrictions at the time; I would have needed another PCR test which takes 2-3 days. I also had no assurance that my flight tickets would not be cancelled again. We had little choice but to pay over $1000 for a flight through another company and I left the UK 2 weeks later. All I have been offered from Expedia is a travel voucher for the same journey as the original flight, this is useless to me as I’m now in Canada.

I asked to speak to a supervisor or manager multiple times by phone and no one has contacted me. I have requested transcripts for the voice calls in August by email and I still do not have them. I resorted to using Twitter to gather their attention, under the handle @RefundMeExpedia, only for them to ignore me and the many other people who are going through similar issues. Expedia has proven to have terrible customer service and turned what was already a big emotional journey for me; leaving my partner, pets, and chosen family in the UK, into an expensive nightmare. Also in between all of this I had to call several times to register special dietary requests and they told me it was too late to request a meal for my ‘new’ flights even though I had already requested it previously when booked well in advance of the flight. Customer service offered no compassion or support. Please help us find justice, a refund, and compensation.

Since I booked through expedia and not directly through the airline, I had no idea of this excess fee and expedia made no mention of this. Meanwhile, my car reservation was cancelled by Avis a mere 12 hours before I was supposed to pick up the car because the location ran out of cars. Avis didn't offer me the same rate at a new location because they said I booked third party.

After an hour on the phone with expedia they only offered a small credit on a hotel stay; meanwhile I had to scramble to make a new car rental booking while on vacation that ended up costing me twice as much as the cancelled reservation (I booked it directly through the car rental company and even with the high price it was actually cheaper then the new reservations expedia was offering). While I don't think expedia is better or worse than any third party website, I think it's pretty clear from my experiences that you should only deal with airline/hotel/rental companies directly especially in these loopy COVID-19 times where traveling is so much harder.

The price of your trip has changed from $630.81 to $1083.40. Rates can change frequently. Book now to lock in this price." So whoever created this new policy is totally nuts. I contacted them and they said basically that they don't read or respond to emails and that the tests are computer generated and that no one actually reads them and that there is nothing they can do at this point because of the hotel policy. They entirely blamed the hotel. I will not be using them ever again and can't recommend them to anyone.

Very bad experience and absolutely unhelpful customer service, still trying to get a refund and complain. I booked car rental and car insurance through Expedia, when I turned up to pick up the car, the car rental company said that they do not accept expedia insurances and asked to leave a deposit for 14000$. Of course, I did not want to do that, but they provided no other choice. I had to leave without a car and my holiday has been ruined. Never again will book through them.

I tried calling so many times but never made it to the customer service rep after hours of wait. Got them once 4 months later and they promised that I'll get the refund in 10 days. Nothing! Got them on the phone again and they said we are gonna re-queue it so it makes it to me within 10 business days. NADA! Nothing. What a joke. This is serious fraud. DO NOT BOOK with Expedia, they didn't help me find an alternative. I had to make my own arrangements during the pandemic (international travel) and NEVER got the refund I was promised. Our flights were cancelled as trip was April 2020. Expedia has stolen $5K CDN and won't do anything to make it right. Sometimes better deals but won't ever book to save $100 again because if something goes sideways you are left with nothing from Expedia. **Luckily for us the airline will honor with a credit. Expedia is good for finding deals and packages, but if there is a reservation issue, they do nothing. I am in Expedia booked hotel, with a bed that is way too hard (hurting my shoulders and back) and with pillows that have been around for nearly 20 years (meaning there is not much life left in these things.) I ask the hotel about cancellation and they say that I have deal with Expedia. I contact Expedia and request that they check me out and put me in another Expedia property. They refused. They said I need to call the Front Desk and complain. Every bed in this hotel is going to be the same. I can't imagine that they will want me sifting through 10's of pillows to find a few good ones. If I was dealing with the Property directly, they would check me out, as they don't want to deal with "the one person" who doesn't like their pillows. Big mistake on my part!

Our experience since COVID... Four elders trying to fly to Hawaii to say good-bye to our family. Expedia did not call back 4 times now when they say they would including a supervisor. They disconnect on chat and did not call back even when they promised to. It took 5 days of calls back and forth between Hawaiian Airlines and Expedia to try to upgrade tickets to first class! Finally, we gave up on upgrading and bought whole new tickets, the last two, so our elders could travel. I have tried to be patient and it is beyond capacity. There is one thing for people to be under pressure and another to false advertise and try to make money off of the situation.

Now, due to Covid in our family, when trying to change the departure date (without a change fee, as promised by the expedia agent upon booking our first-class tickets). Expedia told me to find a seat at a comparable price and they could make the change. I found one online. However, when I gave them the flight, they wanted to charge an additional $1,695 per ticket saying it was not a new ticket so it had a different price…what is that then if it is not a change fee. They asked a fee that would make the fare $2,700. for a change to a date a week later, even though they and Hawaiian had a listed price of $1,044 on that day for the very same itinerary as the first tickets. They said a changed ticket costs more than the new one that is advertised for a first class seat that day by Expedia and Hawaiian. What is that? At minimum false advertising..at max..something illegal?

We intend to contact the Better Business Bureau, and place reviews on the internet! They are making money off of people forced to change to due to Covid. Expedia said it was the airline policy. If we give up our original tickets to make this change, they can sell them at a much higher price And they are asking us for $1,695 per ticket to make this change when their advertised price for the new date is $1044!

I asked if they could please find me another time to go without these astronomical price addon charges since this information is not published anywhere online for me to look. They looked at 3 dates as far ahead as November and it was still to cost an additional $1895. This is their way it seems of advertising no change fee and then making up an amount for the seat different then what is published on their web sites. They both said it was the other's policy. Finally, I gave up with Expedia…and called Hawaiian directly….which I was told would not help.…in tears I could not hold back – I shared the story …they said no problem and changed our tickets for a total of $50 processing fee with expedia and a difference of 3.99 in one fare. Humans at last!

So we had to get a car rental insurance, upon arrival back I contacted Expedia and this is what I received back, "We've attempted to contact Europcar in Sarajevo to request a refund for your itinerary **. Unfortunately, we were unable to contact the property and will need to abide by the terms and conditions of the booking which states refunds are not allowed. Thanks for contacting Expedia."

Great way to treat your customers Expedia. Funny that they sell you something you can't use. But hey you can fail once. Strongly recommend for anyone that wants to use Expedia for any booking, DON'T. You will lose money and won't get help at all. I got to mention too, that when we arrived at the location the car was damaged. And again we receive a same respond, you can contact Expedia that's what they booked for you. I understand that when you say "this car or similar" but hey they can at least listen to when a customer calls and complains that something is wrong. Worst customer service ever. I might be complaining and people might not read the whole review but I hope you do and stay away because I don't want anyone feeling how we felt on a 10 day vacation.

The hotel contacted us to tell us they would not be open and there were no more hotels available due to COVID. I was TOLD in a chat by Doris, an Expedia Agent in which I screenshot, that we could cancel and get our flights as travel credit.

Based on this information, we canceled the rooms but then we were told that some of the flights didn't qualify for travel credit. Our flights cost $3899.17 in total. I tried to get credit for the American Airlines leg but they changed the rules. A few weeks later I tried to use the travel credit and it isn't worth $200 TOTAL! The agent at Expedia said the travel credit is not the value of money we spent but is up to the airline. So I am now out $3600 for a trip we will never take. I saved for YEARS for my kid's graduation trip and you stole it from him. I am sick.

And the AIG travel insurance they offer is an even bigger joke. Both of these companies will do everything in their power to make sure they keep your money. Please note that Expedia also owns VRBO (previously HomeAway), Hotels.com, Hotwire.com, Orbitz, Travelocity, Trivago and CarRentals.com. So, I would recommend that you stay away from these sites also.

After waiting on hold with Expedia and missing my flight, they told me the price of the flight had changed since booking the ticket, so it was cancelled. They claimed they had no email on file to relay the information to me, but my email is associated with my account and I received the confirmation emails. She offered to rebook me on the next flight, but with no additional compensation and the flight was an extra 350.00. I declined as I had no way of knowing if this flight would actually go through. I would not recommend booking thorough Expedia. Pay a little more if necessary and save yourself the hassle!

We contacted Expedia again asking what happened to our modification request and to check that our reservation would still stand as we no-showed on the first day. They informed us that our reservation was never modified by them but assured us that it still stood and a late check in was approved. When we checked in at the hotel our reservation had to be reinstated because we "no-showed" and Expedia never contacted them.

We still had to pay for the first night even though we contacted Expedia in a timely manner and were promised that the reservation could be modified. We were able to extend our stay directly with the hotel at time of check in. Had I known any of this I would have never used Expedia to begin with. They failed in all their promises. I will never book with Expedia again and would never recommend them to anyone.

First I bought a ticket wrong and 2 days after when I tried to change they refuse to help me. I have a credit that I am not be able to use. They offer me to pay the price more expensive that they have on website just, so I paid the same price that someone buy a ticket without credit. After that one day before my flight they cancel my flight, separate my family, put in different flight and different city to departure. I spend 7 HOURS in phone to fix this, I am not kidding. I am in the line 7 hours.

One more surprise - When I return to Boston they put me in flight that it's not exist, When I tried to check in I can't. When I go to the airport they said that I don't have any reservation in my name. I did a surgery in Miami and I stay all day at the airport until the company find a spot in next flight. I have lost a lot of money and thanks to Expedia, when you make a reservation with them, airline, car rental, even cruise lines, you lose your rights because even though you pay your reservation, this reservation does not belong to you. The rights of change or modification are the property of Expedia. This reason removes the right of you to be able to make changes is directly with the commerce, on this vacation one of my children suffered from covid and I could not do anything, lost part of the hotel rentals, car and cruises and we are trying to speak with air lines, cruise and hotel and all the person who speak with me can't help me because I make reservation with Expedia and all the person in the different lines said the same. Don't do reservation with Expedia. Do the business direct.

Although they tell them cancellation without charges that is not true, if you are going to claim or try to make a change it is through Expedia and there is no will to help you, do business directly with the cruise lines, air, cars, do not use Expedia. What little that can be saved they will lose twice as much if any eventuality happens. Advice that the airlines gave me the car rentals and cruises for the next one, do not use Expedia, it is better that you do direct negotiations, they all told me, "I could help you but since you made the reservation with Expedia, I can't help you."
