Expedia has ruined our anniversary. I will never use them again. My wife and I, looked to celebrate our 2 year anniversary. We have previously used CheapCaribbean.com, Booking.com, and more recently Expedia.com for our travel bookings. We found the Marigot Bay Resort advertised on Expedia as an all-inclusive stay. The advertisement showed all the popular amenities (Free Wifi, All Inclusive, Breakfast Included, Air Conditioning, Parking Included, and Spa). We continued to proceed with the booking. We decided to upgrade our room to the Junior Suite, 1 King Bed, Bay View. The details below the room was “Sleeps 2, 1 King Bed, Free Breakfast, Free Valet Parking, All-inclusive”.

It was an additional cost to our total but we selected the upgrade. The next screen was our flight details. After selecting our flight, it asked us to “review your trip”. We selected the “Next: Final Details”. The next screen listed the stay and flight info but under the “Who’s checking in?”. It listed the resort, time of stay, and room with details. The details showed ✅All-inclusive, ✅Free parking, ✅Free Wifi.

We arrived at the resort June 23rd, 2022. We checked in to find the resort attempting to upgrade us to all-inclusive. We explained we already purchased an all inclusive stay. They informed us our package was breakfast only. We called Expedia to understand the mishap. We spoke to Giselle explaining that “All-Inclusive” was listed throughout the reservation process. She sent us an email requesting screenshots of our reservation. We explained the misleading information on Expedia.com. Giselle admitted to a mishap on their website. She proceeded to apologize and call the resort to attempt to offer us an all-inclusive stay at the rate booked. The resort refused to honor it. Giselle then spoke to a manager at Expedia and created a case number. Giselle then explained to keep any additional receipts and submitted our charges to Expedia for reimbursement.

My wife then clarified that it would a refund and not a website credit. Giselle confirmed it would be 100% refunded. We asked for this to be emailed to us in writing. We foresaw it being an issue to be refunded, and we were 100% correct. She assured us that it would be emailed and an explanation would be placed in the notes of the case number **. She explained that reimbursement would need to be submitted within 5 business days. She could not email it at that specific time but it would be emailed. We believed her. We went on celebrating our anniversary with the assumption that any expense for lunch, dinner, and drinks would be repaid by Expedia. We never received any email or phone calls from Expedia.

We had a great stay at Marigot Bay. We checked out from the resort with $931.88 bill. We paid it in full assuming we would be able to submit it to Expedia for a reimbursement. We called as soon as we returned to the US. We landed back in New York on June 28th, 2022. I called Expedia around 8pm EST. I explain the situation. I was told a supervisor would give me a call to help with the issue. I received a call from Mike, 30 minutes later. Unfortunately, I was in the restroom and missed the call. He left a message stating that he was returning my call but missed me. He would schedule another follow-up call. I received an email from a supervisor named JC at 8:34pm EST. JC explained that they tried to call us but will schedule another follow-up.

The local business hours were 9am to 9pm. No one tried to call again. All I received was another email saying the same thing at 9:39pm EST. However, I had no missed calls or voice messages. I called Expedia the next day at 9:32 am EST. I didn’t want to miss the “5 business days” previously explained by Giselle. I had to explain the situation to a new representative. I was transferred to a supervisor name Emilio. Emilio stated what was explained to me isn’t how it works. I told him I was explained to charge my card with assumption for reimbursement because that is what was explained to me. He stated he would need to listen to the recording with Giselle before issuing a refund. He would need 72 hours to investigate the issue. He kept assuring me that I would have someone call me back. I told him if no one calls me back. I would be calling back no later then Tuesday, July 5th

I received no callback or email from Expedia. So, I called back on July 5th asking to speak to a supervisor. The representative would not and did not want to transfer me. I had to explain the situation to her. This was probably our 6th time explaining this situation to an Expedia employee. She kept putting us on hold. I’m assuming being a middle person between us and the supervisor. She informed me of a response no one else had told us. It contradicted the agreement explained to us by Giselle and the supervisor on duty back on June 23rd. She stated that the package we purchased was breakfast only. It wasn’t an all inclusive stay.

I told her that I explained it was an Expedia issue and a refund would be issued for any expenses occurred for food and alcohol at the resort. I explain Emilio was supposed to listen to the recording and callback. He didn’t. She emphasized a statement that we didn’t purchase an all inclusive stay. It was breakfast only. I had to continue to ask for a supervisor. She finally transferred Milan **. Milan explained the same situation that he would need to listen to the recording and call me back. He would need 72 hours. We explained we had already heard that from Emilio but we failed to get a return phone call. He said he would callback in 4 hrs. We told him if he doesn’t callback we will callback everyday until we get an update on our refund. He said ok. He didn’t give us a callback.

I called again today (July 6th). I had to explain the situation an 8th time. We were transferred to Mike explaining to him the situation. He explained that this was a breakfast only booking. I asked him to go to the notes and recording from June 23rd. He told me to hold. Mike returned explaining different policies regarding all-inclusive packages. I thought he was going to review the notes and recording. I asked if he had reviewed the recording. He replied that an investigation was done and it was decided that it was not their mishap. I booked a breakfast only location. It was apparent Expedia had no intentions of keeping their word.

They had conducted an investigation and never called and/or email myself or my wife about their findings. They had taken contact info for both of us. It’s a deliberate effort to mislead the consumer. The service we received is horrible. Expedia tells a customer you were wrong and will fix the issue. Expedia never communicated with the customer about the finds. Expedia goes back on its promise to a customer and leaves them with $900 of wrongful expenses. Mike told us we will not be reimbursed for any expenses. Use Expedia at your own risk. We have screenshots and videos.

Saying I need to call the hotel, which I have and they tell me it in Expedia to give me back my refund, will Expedia keeps telling it's the hotel's responsibility. I know Expedia puts that money on a virtual card and the hotel has nothing to do with it until check in. All I want is my refund. I shouldn't have to go through all this trouble to get my money back..Shame on you Expedia for ripping people off.

DO NOT book with Expedia. I cannot stress this enough. My husband and I were supposed to fly from Boston to Spain for our honeymoon. We booked both our flights and hotel stay through Expedia. We found out the hard way at the airport that Spain requires a booster if you got your vaccines over 9 months ago or a negative test. By the time we got our negative tests back, we had missed our flight.

Here is where the nightmare began. We called the airline about rebooking flights, but they informed us that because we booked through Expedia, they were the only ones who could change it. We called Expedia, and they informed us that only our airline could fix it. We called the airline again and we told them Expedia sent us to them, and they said to call Expedia. Expedia said they could not do anything because we were already checked into the flight.

We called the airline once again (lots of being on hold), and they said to wait until there were the airline representatives at the airport. We waited for two hours and got in line to speak with them. They told us to call Expedia. We explained that they could not help us because “we were already checked in,” but luckily another worker overheard us and said she was able to uncheck us in. she said Expedia would then be able to do whatever they would like with the flights. We call Expedia, and they tell us that we were considered a “no show,” the tickets we bought no longer have value and there is nothing they can do. We have also lost our return flight.

So, we have to purchase new tickets for four days later that cost us thousands of dollars. Now we need to contact our hotel about perhaps switching our days around since we were already missing four days of our stay. The hotel said they could have helped us had we booked through them directly, but because we booked through Expedia, we had to contact them. Expedia says they will contact the hotel (which was confusing because we already had). The representative at Expedia then tells us that the hotel cannot do anything for us because we were considered already checked in, and if we want to stay there longer we will have to make a new booking.

Had we not booked with Expedia, we could have gotten assistance with this nightmare. At least we learned a lesson: Always book directly through the company, never through another party. We will never be using Expedia again.

Made res. through Expedia for hotel in Moad, Utah for stay in June. When entered the hotel, they had notice that you may see a bug due to the creek in the back and the season for them. When we entered the room, there were bugs everywhere crawling the ceiling, walls, pillows. Called the hotel to change rooms and they said they were booked and they can't give a refund due to reservation through Expedia. They can only come and vacuum the bugs. It was a nightmare. Who wants to sleep in a room and pay 260 a night to have bugs crawling around your pillows, bed, walls window...

We asked the front desk for a credit or discount and she asked us to call the manager next week as she was out on vacation. When we talked to the hotel manager, she said the max she can do is 30/ night credit. Called Expedia and in short the Expedia supervisor, said she can do 75 total for towards the 460 paid for 2 nights. She was very rude out of Phonix, AZ. She refused to give any info. other than her first name. This was the supervisor who was extremely rude.

In other words, Expedia does not care about consumer satisfaction. they put their partners before consumers because they make more money from them than one consumer making a reservation. Beware, if you have issues with a hotel when you have made your res. through Expedia, call them immediately to change hotel even though you paid nonrefundable fee for the nights and do not believe any lies the hotel tell you that there is nothing they can do since it was paid already through Expedia and no refunds.

My husband and I are traveling internationally, and our son directed us to Skyscanner.com. SkyScanner shows you multiple flights. However, I, Mom, went through another company first, and they added excess fees adding up to over a $1000, and had a time-out feature, plus there appeared to be NO way to contact them. Thank God the credit card didn't go through in their 20-minute time count down. Because of that negative experience we, meaning I, Mom, decided to go back to what our son first recommend.

On Skyscanner.com I found a several flights, multiple times and long and short layovers. The prices changed considerably when I entered different dates. To discover why, I, Mom, went on Priceline.com and punched in dates and looked at the calendar that shows the actual prices for that particular day. Now side by side on the computer screen I clicked back to the Skysannner.com screen. Punched in the cheaper flights, by date, that I saw on Priceline.com, and Skysanner.com showed cheaper flights. The flights were half the price of going through the airline directly. I know because I then tried to book through several airlines directly and the price doubled.

On the Skysanner.com screen, I looked at the list beneath, what company choices I could book through. I looked at the stars, googled several booking companies and read reviews and then decided. Although Expedia was $300 more than the cheapest, but they were not the most expensive, I decided their customer service reviews were good, better than most.

Several of the other booking companies had bad customer service reviews and no customer service person to speak with. Reviews of other companies said things like, "the phones rings and rings," and "after waiting hours for someone to pick up, someone finally comes on the line and hangs up." I don't need that kind of Customer Service. One lady did house chores, took her phone to the grocery store and went home, finally got a person on the line, and the Customer Service Representative hung up. Oh yeah, that review pushed me to go through Expedia based on their reviews of good Customer Service.

After booking and it was easy to book, no excessive or added fees, I needed to talk to Expedia Customer Service, because I am at a preschool level regarding international flights, especially now. I did not understand so many things after booking the international flight requirements, and how do I book seating. Confused I called past midnight, chatted with a live person fairly quickly, and that conversation lasted into the early hours of the morning. Expedia Customer Service Representative talked me through the whole process, and called my home when I was still confused. Walked me through the process on my computer, then gave me another contact number for my new question. Expedia Customer Service answered again, fairly quickly, they spoke with me and explained things in more detail. IT WAS AWESOME TO SPEAK WITH A LIVE PERSON IN THE EARLY AM HOURS. They were so nice.

Expedia will not help with any problems. They say you have to talk to airline then the airline says talk to them. I had spent almost 8.5 hours on hold one day during my vacation between them and the airline and still have not been helped. Plus, the agents you chat with are not helpful and I have no idea how much time I have wasted on texting. So even if you purchase the protection, it's very clear that you missed connections because of the airline, and tried to resolve a problem for days and days beforehand through multiple platforms and countless people they won't even pretend to help. Maybe it's just my circumstances and to other people none of this would be a big deal. However, if you were delayed by almost three days getting to your destination and you want to reschedule your return flight they will not do it. If the airlines lose both checked bags they will not help. They won't even point you in the right direction when you ask what the procedure is.

Please don't trust Expedia in planning your vacation, expedia ruined my vacation that we planned after 3 years. I booked a hotel "La Malmasion boutique hotel" almost 2 months ahead of time so I got a good rate for my hotel, but the night before I could check in to the hotel I received an email from expedia that they canceled my hotel. I contacted expedia and they took no responsibility arguing that hotel canceled and they can't do anything, by then the hotel's price was so high that I could only find a hotel with lower rank and farther from the location of the first hotel with the price I paid 2 months ago. Later I contacted the hotel that had canceled my reservation and they said they never got my reservation from expedia and I was not the only case and it happened with a number of other guest.

Expedia never followed up regarding this case they just gave me a case number that is useless because after 3 weeks from the discussion with expedia they never got back to me and never compensated me for ruining my family and my vacation. The customer service that I got from expedia is the worst I have ever got with any company. The standard is not up to 3rd world country let alone North America. I wouldn't recommend this website or their services to anybody. If you want to enjoy your time never trust "Expedia".

Expedia advertises.. "Your one-stop travel site for your dream vacation." "Book your entire trip in one place" and "We're with you every step of the way." FALSE ADVERTISEMENT... BEWARE! On 5/19 my friend and I booked a complete vacation package for 4 adults/1 child through Expedia with flights and resort to the Bahamas leaving 6/12. While searching for airport transfers, we discovered Expedia had booked our flights to Nassau and our resort in Freeport. It was not until this time that we realized they were two separate islands!

We called Expedia on 6/9 and spent HOURS being transferred from one agent to another. Although each agent was very apologetic and tried to help, they were unable to find us a different or connecting flight to Freeport. The next option was to change hotels, but they were unable to find a comparable all inclusive resort that allowed children in Nassau for our dates. After two days of trying to fix, our only option was to cancel the complete trip days before we were to leave. A refund for resort was given but only vouchers for airlines in which 1 airline charges a $99 fee for each ticket to change. We felt Expedia needed to make this right for their huge error and asked to expedite our problem to headquarters. We were first we were told we would hear back in 72 hours. After contacting them 96 hours later, we were told it would be another 5-7 days.

We finally heard back from headquarters on 6/16. The lack of responsibility and customer service from headquarters was appalling. We were told there was nothing more they were WILLING to do, additional flight charges were out of their hands, it was not their fault but OURS for not noticing the airport error. Expedia is NOT a company that stands behind their services and they would rather place the blame on the customer than take responsibility for their errors. It was even pointed out to them that their website was still incorrectly booking the wrong airport with resort package. As of 6/16, the website is NOW corrected and giving correct flights. A formal complaint has been made with BBB, but wanted to warn and make others aware.

Expedia refunded both flights without telling us. We didn't find out until we were at the airport because our ticket status was refunded. We had to pay last minute cancelation fees on our Airbnb, had already got expensive covid tests for getting on the plane, had to buy new tickets which were now double the price, and we were not allowed to refund our flight we had booked to replace the canceled flight.

Both me and my bf had to spend an extra $1000 each because of their mistake, and even after contacting Expedia twice, they won't do anything about it. Save yourself the trouble and book flights through the airline provider directly. Don't get caught in the loop where the airline provider says you need to contact Expedia, and Expedia tells you they can't do anything because they aren't the airline provider.

They straight up LIE about the total price of their packages to purposefully mislead consumers into thinking they are affordable. I put in my search details, they quote a total trip package, that says specifically a FLIGHT+STAY+CAR. All three options included in that price. It lets you pick you various hotel and flight, with certain options costing more but at least a couple $0 extra, so included in the total trip price. But when it comes to pick out car details, it only allows you to add a car with at least $80 extra. There are no standard options, only a car that is an additional $80 dollars. I tried talking to a rep named Krislyn hoping this was an error. Big mistake.

The rep was beyond useless, googled the exact same thing I did, and brilliant response was "I don't know, stuff just costs extra." Then she claimed the options for it must have expired, so I ran the search again and got the same results, only cars that cost $80 extra (and this is for the tiniest economy car, literally anything less than this would be a bike). Then she claimed that the three option package, only includes two options, the third is extra. I repeatedly explained that at the start, the website is quoting a price on a package that includes all three options. I wanted to know why it is not including all three options, since that is deliberately falsifying the cost of the package advertised. Then she claimed that they don't have any cars to rent, so it must cost extra. They don't have rental cars. At a major airport. With like 5 rental car companies operating out of it. But they felt it was fine to advertise they have rental cars available, but only for an additional $80.

She repeatedly refused to get me to a manager or supervisor who might actually know why their company is misquoting consumers, or at least someone how had a better reasoning beyond stuff happens, give us more money. So this company is deliberately LYING about their total trip prices and what they have available to force you to pay upgrade fees. False advertising.

It's pretty simple, I attempted to book a specific hotel, in a specific city, it showed it available, I made the reservation and thought I was done, only to find out Expedia ended up putting my in the same hotel chain, but an entirely different city I never entered or requested. When I noticed this error, I contacted their customer support to change the reservation, noting it was their error not mine, the city they put me I had never heard of, and didn't even know where it was. They flat refused to change the reservation or refund my money, saying there was nothing they could do, and wouldn't even acknowledge their error.

I've since found entire websites and discussion threads dedicated to all the users of Expedia that have had nightmare problems with them, mine is nothing compare to most. Ultimately, most people are forced to reverse their credit card charge to solve the problem. I am doing the same, and closing my account on Expedia. They are not trustworthy, have terrible customer support, and do not deserve your business.

DO NOT BOOK THROUGH EXPEDIA. I promise it is not worth the headache and financial risk as they will sell you insurance when they cannot honor it. I had booked a flight on Expedia for Vueling's airline and had purchased insurance for it. The events that followed suit were absolutely ridiculous. I 1st received a vague email notification from the airline noting of a change or cancellation. It provided a link to manage my booking which led me to their website. When I entered my booking code, it told me that I had to contact customer service directly to manage my booking.

I tried to email, call, message them on FB and Twitter, etc. and could not get ahold of them. The calls always went to a machine and not an actual live person. Eventually, I decided that this was too much of a risk considering Covid and not being able to get in contact with an airline when they send vague changes to my flight. At this point, I still didn't know which part of my flight was canceled or changed.

I then reached out to Expedia customer service to assist in getting my flight canceled ESPECIALLY because they had sold me insurance. They told me that this airline likes to handle all changes and cancellations on their own so Expedia cannot help me. I even received additional charges for international calls from the numbers that Expedia agents had provided me. I spent countless hours on the phone with Expedia and even THEY had trouble contacting the airline. The one time they got through on a 3-way call, the Vueling’s agent told us that we had to deal with a 4th party.

The Expedia agent and Vueling agent were just yelling at each other. It was ridiculous. How can Expedia sell a flight and insurance for an airline that both Expedia and the customer cannot communicate properly with? There is nowhere on Expedia.com that specifies before you purchase that you will not be working with Expedia anymore. I asked Expedia how I would know that the airline works on their own and they said I could call them to confirm, like what.... I'm gonna go on a 30 minute to 1 hour hold every time I consider booking an international flight on Expedia?! No thank you.

In addition, my insurance claim was denied because Covid apparently isn’t considered an "unforeseen event" since the pandemic was declared in March 2020 and anything that happens after that is seen as foreseeable. Yes, the pandemic was declared in March 2020, but no one predicted that it would last more than 2 years. There are still new strain outbreaks all over the world and countries have shut down again just recently. I bought this insurance because I knew there was a chance that Covid could impact travel again. However, I chose to try to cancel even earlier after realizing that I am unable to communicate with the airline.

Through looking online at other customer's experiences, I found people whose flight was changed close to departure and were unable to get in contact with the airline which is exactly what I feared would happen to me. Not being able to communicate with the airline was entirely unforeseeable because as a loyal customer of Expedia, I trusted that when booking through their website, I would be able to easily manage my flight. This is absolutely the worst Expedia experience I've had. I lost $600 through this experience and they've lost a customer for life. Please DON'T EVER book through them.

BUYER BEWARE OF EXPEDIA! I booked a flight through EXPEDIA which I needed to cancel due to a certified medical issue. When I called Expedia they told me I had to contact the Airline they booked through directly, Vueling. I spent $100 calling Vueling internationally. Vueling said I had to contact Expedia and so the ping pong match began with HOURS of frustrating phone calls getting NOWHERE. I came to learn that Expedia had actually booked the trip through a company called LAND, which I have never heard of. I was then told I had to contact them. This unknown company will only give me a "voucher" good for a year and now I I am expected to book travel with a company I have never heard of nor do I feel comfortable using for an international flight.

I have tried for HOURS to get EXPEDIA to take responsibility for taking my money and selling me the flight, I have BEGGED that they give me a voucher to be used WITH THEM as I booked WITH THEM on THEIR website vs. this other company I did NOT book through. I used EXPEDIA and even bought the insurance which was another waste of money, EXPEDIA has had several opportunities to make things right, to give good customer service for a hardship situation and for the past month of stress this has caused. But they refuse and keep repeating and sending me the same email "please contact airline directly."

I will NEVER use EXPEDIA again because they are not there to help when a hardship comes up and I consider it fraud to sell me something under their company name but then claim they are not responsible for it! It is the definition of greedy corporate America that does not look to solve a problem and make things right. It has been the worst travel experience I have ever had.

Expedia INTENTIONALLY cheated me. I used their site to reserve a room at the Red Lion hotel in Pasco, Washington. Just before I pushed the pay button a warning appeared that the purchase was "not refundable". Since I needed the room that night and all the other hotels in town were filled up I didn't hesitate to go ahead with the purchase. What I didn't realize was the hotel was already filled and Expedia immediately CHANGED THE DATE of the reservation to another day so that they could take my money. I never authorized such a change. Why would I reserve a room on a day I wouldn't even be in town?

I arrived at the Red lion hotel in Pasco, Washington and THREE of the employees there shook their heads and told me that Expedia was well-known as a scammer there. They told me of multiple folks who had arrived late in the night thinking they had a bed to sleep in only to be turned away. They warned me not to use Expedia in the future and offered to let me and my wife sit in the lounge all night. It was all that these fine folks could do for us.

My wife and I are both in our 70's and we spent that night in the car. When I tried to stop the charge at my bank Expedia cited the fact that the reservation was not refundable and I lost the money I paid for a room on another date that I never used. I tried to contact Expedia for a refund and was unable to run through the gauntlet of bots and talk to a real person. They have avoiding you down to an art form. Please don't use Expedia for anything. They are disreputable to the point of being downright thieves. They have developed a system that gives them immunity to recourse and will not hesitate to steal your money. Consumers like you and I are the only ones who can force them to behave honorably.

I received an email from an @chat.expedia.com email address with a valid Expedia itinerary ID saying my flight was cancelled and directing me to call Expedia customer service. I did and it connected right away. That is where the good stops. The agent asked for the itinerary ID, I gave it. She put me on hold for 4 minutes to look it up. When she came back she said I told her why I had called. She said that my return flight didn't exist. I gave her the booking ID and the airline confirmation code. She couldn't find it so I checked the airline site to confirm it. I told her it was there. She said that the airline had sent the email and I should call them. It is from an @chat.expedia.com email. She said, "The airlines do that." I said, "It gave the Expedia customer service number..." "Yes, they do that."

I asked to speak to a supervisor. "I may not be able to find one", of course not. Back on hold. Every 5 minutes or so the hold music would stop for less than a second then return. I stayed on the line 45 minutes so, IF I got someone who cared about customer service, they would be able to find the agent that delivered this abysmal experience and fire her. BTW, the airline showed my flight was still valid. My Expedia itinerary showed my flight to my destination but showed the return flight was cancelled. When I clicked on the link for the cancelled flight, it went to another flight TO the same destination that had been cancelled 2 years earlier. Good luck.

I had a hotel stay reservation for 4 nights that I needed reduced to 2 nights. I got explicit, documented specific advice directly from an Expedia rep to pay the hotel for all 4 nights and subsequently submit a refund request and Expedia would refund me for the 2 unused nights (which I actually paid and stayed at a different hotel). I did EXACTLY as instructed, and now after nearly 2 months and 10 conversations with other customer service reps, I still don't have a refund because now all of a sudden it's dependent on the hotel giving Expedia a refund for my early checkout. This was never explained to me, never part of what I was told, I was told it would be a frictionless refund experience. I was even skeptical of this approach so I asked multiple times on this (again, documented) chat conversation and Expedia rep assured me it would be no problem, no questions asked.

Expedia has shown no remorse or acknowledgement of mistake, and no willingness to live up to what they promised me and now as a result I'm in the hole like $500. After explaining my case, this is certainly the worst and least genuine customer service experience I've ever had with a hospitality company. I live in Seattle, I've supported Expedia as a local company, but this has been a really sad disaster of an experience that put a terrible ending to an otherwise great trip of mine. Travel and hospitality is supposed to be about happiness and memories, not lost money at the hands of a hospitality company that screwed up and won't take any ownership and accountability for their actions.

I purchased the flight tickets from Expedia on February 9. With the flight, I also purchased flight protection. My flight has been canceled on May 4. They gave me 2 options: 1. They can help me to find an alternate flight. 2. I have to cancel myself and receive an airline credit. Interesting why do I have to cancel myself, if Expedia canceled on me!!! Anyway, I called Expedia for a refund and spent a whole day on the phone. The CS rep told me that they would refund me the airline ticket cost in 7 - 8 weeks, but not the flight protection. They refused my refund because I can only cancel within 15 days, but in my case, this is not me who canceled the flight and in my case, I can't even use this flight protection.

My flight was supposed to be in August, and I'm not the one who canceled the flight. In my understanding, if the flight has been canceled, then the flight protection for this flight should be canceled automatically, since the flight protection only covers the travel dates from August 12th through September 10th. I also asked them why is refund time 7-8 weeks, usually it is 7 business days. I called the Scandinavian airlines, and they told me that the refund time is 7 business days. Basically, Expedia will hold my money for another 7 weeks.

We had a rather unpleasant experience booking a flight. When I choose a flight, I am NOT expecting the prices to DOUBLE within a few minutes of me checking out. A company this big should be able to guarantee the price they advertise for more than 30 seconds. This feels like people are being exploited because they get stuck with a flight that they had carefully chosen and agreed on with family and friends and then panic and agree to buy before the price rises even more. That's why I had stopped using websites like this before but my husband had credits we had to use. However, this didn't even work. It showed in the beginning that it is applied to eligible flights and that was it. Doesn't show which flights are eligible or what to look out for so we could only assume that it was applied to the ones it showed us (why would it even show us ineligible flights if we clicked using credits without clearly labeling it, right?).

We ended up getting stuck overpaying and the credits weren't deducted at the end. We called the helpline and even though the lady was very friendly, Expedia's solution was to book a new, now even more ridiculously expensive flight, apply the credits, then cancel the old flight because just applying our credits after payment wasn't an option. Yet another convenient red tape that serves the company. After over an hour, we gave up. I was shocked to discover that it had gotten worse since I last used it. We are a Manager and IT Specialist in our 30s so this is not a problem of not knowing how to use a website or what to look out for. It is purposely made in a way that generates more money for them. Companies are getting bolder. Not a pleasant experience at all.

Waited 3 weeks, then when I contacted them they told me the ticket was non-refundable and I would get nothing back.

After many more weeks of back and forth, Expedia has accused me of multiple things such as:
    - Not clicking the button to cancel the flight (I absolutely did. They didn't send me a confirmation email but luckily I took screenshots of the confirmation screen that said my cancellation had gone through successfully)

    - Their agent telling me the tickets were non-refundable. This is false, their agent explicitly told me I would get flight credits

I still haven't gotten neither flight credits or a refund. Do not ever book flights with this company. They are crooks who will happily lie to your face and steal your money if anything goes wrong with your booking.

Customer service for resolution is less than satisfactory. Very poor actually. I have placed several 1st class airline tickets through Expedia. Today was the same but ended up so much different. I booked a flight that required a connection flight. Like most places I go, I typically have connecting flights. From my origin to the connecting flight I received my 1st class seat. On the connecting flight I was given an economy seat. When I spoke to Expedia, they said "Sorry, in your small print it says this can happen" and yes, they stuck to this. This is the amazing piece. I paid for 1st class, do make a few extra dollars, literally they made $154 by placing me in economy. I imagine they do this many times a day, which can add up to a lot of "scam" money.

I have never heard of such a thing, but they were right, it was in the small print. When you order your ticket, you better pray you get what you're looking for, read the small print. Because they will get you. Even if they only did this .5% of the time. This would generate 10s of millions of dollars of free money to them every year. I will never use Expedia again, nor will my family. In 2021-2022 my family spent almost $100k with Expedia. Only to be told "**." We want our $154. Lol what a joke.

BEWARE: (Please take time to read before booking through Expedia). I am a long time customer who will be completely withdrawing my business, regardless of travel points. I have booked travel with Expedia for many years. I travel for work and Expedia seemed to provide a simplified platform to book hotels, cars and flights in one go. As of the last few years, it has been increasingly difficult to resolve issues. If you travel often or for work, you will understand what I mean. When the customer is more informed and capable than the customer service, and the customer is having to resolve the problem between hotel or airline while customer service stands by in confusion, this is a sign of an incompetent and sloppy business.

Recently they have withheld a $1000 booking for a rental car that was not available to me once I arrived. I was first told that I would be refunded by a chat agent and the reservation was canceled. This wasn't true. I was told again and again the same thing across multiple employees that said they were notifying their "higher ups". I had contacted the rental car company who told me it is Expedia who must release the funds. Long story short, I have had to file an official complaint with my bank and BBB. Expedia also canceled a flight without my knowledge and left me in a bind. The agent could not "get the airline on the line."

DO NOT BOOK THROUGH THIS PLATFORM. Go directly to the hotel, car rental agency or airline. Expedia doesn't even save you much money and you will have a huge headache. It is not really the customer service and I hope they are not blamed. It must be those who train and who have more authority running such a poor operation.

People don't book trips and then cancel them for the fun of it. I would have loved to take the trip and not have to work. Unethical, zero empathy, zero customer support, predatory booking and horrible refund policy in light of the pandemic that was raging just 5 short months ago. That just scratches the surface for this miserable excuse of a company. I've been a long time customer of Expedia but, I'll no longer be booking ANY travel through them ever again. In short, we had a trip booked and when the COVID Omicron variant spiked we opted to stay safe not take our planned trip. I requested a refund through Expedia on a car rental and they referred me to the car rental company. After going to them, the car rental company stated they could not provide the refund because Expedia had bought a wholesale block of car rentals and that matter of refund would rest with Expedia.

I immediately went back to Expedia and requested a refund and cited the world health conditions as my reason for wanting a refund since we opted not to travel with the COVID numbers so high. They flat out refused stating it was policy. I attempted to escalate the matter through them but, got mis-routed on several call attempts, got hold times of over 45 minutes, disconnected and in the end ignored. I went to the BBB to file a complaint and the response from Expedia was to take it up with the car rental company! Shortly after, the BBB closed the complaint which did not sit well with me. I'll never do business with Expedia again and I will be sure everyone I know and who they know to avoid this unprofessional company like the plague.

We got engaged in that day and was a total disaster.

Expedia kept giving me the runaround about the refund. They say it's up to the hotel to approve but I contacted the hotel weeks ago and their third party department said they approved the refund and contacted Expedia to process it but that Expedia would not reply to them and yet when I contacted Expedia they kept claiming they never got any messages from the hotel despite all evidence to the contrary, multiple emails from the hotel department with contact info and everything.

One day at 1 am I got another email from Expedia again falsely claiming they didn't get the information from the hotel in order to refund it but that they would contact me in 8 hours at the latest with an update, but when I reminded them I had told them many times that the hotel did approve the refund and provided the emails proving it, they simply never replied, even 8 days after they said they would. I had to dispute the charge with my card since Expedia completely stopped acting in good faith and stopped all communication past their own deadline they set and wouldn't refund my reservation despite their own requirements they set being met.

Then the real kicker, after my dispute was of course decided in my favor, I finally got a response about my refund from Expedia which just said "Thank you for contacting Expedia with regards on your refund request with Bellagio. Due to your dispute on your bank we highly request you to contact your bank directly for your refund request." Wow! I never heard such a thing! They just want customers to file disputes rather than they refunding it themselves! I'm guessing the company puts punitive action against the customer service agents when they process refunds, even if those refunds are legally required or meet Expedia's own conditions for refund!! I have been an Expedia customer for over 20 years. I not only used them for my personal travels but also used them for my business. Except some glitches here and there, I was moderately happy with their service. That was until three weeks ago. I booked a hotel through them for a tenant at Stayable Suites, St. Augustine. When the tenant arrived, the hotel staff was so rude and insisted for a $100 deposit before they could get in to their room. With no money at hand, they called me and I in turn called Expedia. After so many hours of trying they were not able to help and I end up putting them in another hotel.

A week ago, I booked a room at TRYP by Wyndham Bogotá Embajada in Bogota, Colombia. By mistake, I booked for 29th of April instead of 27th of April. I went to the online chat and after many attempts it connected me to someone in India. The call center operator said that my reservation cannot be changed. When I pointed out that Expedia says it is up to the Hotel, he said he will call them. Then he came back and said the call doesn’t go through. He suggested that he will send them an email and the response would take 72 hours and I agreed.

Next day I tried again on the online chat and I got a different person. His first name was Zaid. He had no clue about the previous conversations nor of any emails send to the hotel. I repeated again and he said he will call the hotel. Then he came back and said the calls are not going through. So, I called the hotel and without any problem I was connected to a reservation specialist.

I invited the Expedia rep to have a three way call so that I can prove that there is nothing wrong with the phone calls. However, he refused saying it is against the company rules. I asked for a supervisor and he said none is available. He again said that he is going to send them an email. He must have been frustrated, because he closed the text messages before I could finish and blocked me from using the text messages. Since then when I use the text message, the following message appears. "There is a limit to the the number of words.." So I will try to write again.

I spoke to a representative with Expedia on March 31 to confirm that my spouse could use the return ticket home as he had to fly there for work a week before our trip and would not be on the departing flight. I was told this would be no problem and to call back within 24 hours of my flight to cancel his reservation and get a partial credit. I did just that and was told he did not have a ticket home. I then asked a manager to call me back which was supposed to be 2 hours later. They called back 26 hours later and the representative did not offer a solution but wanted to tell me the policy and argue with me.

After many calls and no resolution we had to purchase another ticket home which cost over $2300. I will never use Expedia again as they do not care about the customers or customer service. Expedia says they record the calls yet would not listen to the call on March 31st to verify what the rep said to me. They do not care what misinformation their reps give the customers.

Plus the fact that you have you have to pay more to rebook the same flight like others have said is highway robbery. And don't we all love the extremely LONG wait times just to get someone on the phone - this is crazy. Is there no Government agency that can monitor this? Whatever happened to consumer protection?

Their customer service has not been helpful and quotes internal rules - this is completely intransparent and borderline scam. It appears we cannot do anything - except cancel the entire flight at a cost and book with increased prices. This is completely unacceptable and I will make it my mission to discourage people from using this awful service - Why use a travel agent in the first place if you get treated worse than by the airline itself?

I have been trying to rebook this trip since February and have been stalled, stonewalled and lied to by each agent. First I was told I could not rebook because I had to pay additional fees which varied based on the date I chose to fly despite the ticket being $200 cheaper. Then I was told the flights I wanted were unavailable because they were with a partner airline and Expedia would not book with the partner or honor the prices the airline had online. Then I was told a manager would contact me and that never happened.

Today I was told the airline has my tickets (I've spoken to them and they say they do not) and I have to wait 2-3 days so that Expedia can book my ticket once the airline opens the ticket. It has been over two months of trying to rebook a ticket I already paid for, with no success. Each agent has a different reason, there are no straight answers. I also have no tickets. I went to look at the itinerary, and the website said 'there's a problem'. So I chatted with a customer service rep and she confirmed the reservation was there. But all the links through the website, email, and text to the itinerary continue to say 'there's a problem'. When I continued to report this in the same chat with Expedia customer service, She said she would just cancel the reservation. OH no! That was not what I wanted. None of the people we spoke to even knew the flight was cancelled. We were put on hold adding up to over 3 hours while they were trying to ring the airline with no luck. The one woman I talked to was so poorly trained that she just read things off a screen to me with zero context to my situation. I had to explain airline policies to her at one point. She did not have a clue about the most basic travel information.

Now we are trying to contact them because we need information for our refund and we cannot get through to anybody as our itinerary number does not exist anymore. I managed to find a human to chat to on their site (after a frustrating conversation with a bot) and the person told me they cannot help me unless I stay on the line while they are investigating. I now have to find time in my holiday where I can sit on wife for a few hours so they can investigate. Please do not fall for a few dollars saving. It is NOT worth it. I asked them to email me a letter confirming they will be fully responsible for the purchased of the new tickets. I bought the new tickets with a credit card since I was not counting on spending that extra money that I didn’t have. Happened multiple times to me. When I talked to them they blamed the problem on me at first accusing me of directly booking somewhere else, then admitted it was them and they could do nothing to help me and I was stuck with the VRBO charges/reservation and no way to get the flight at the price they showed. An error will pop after you hit book that will say booking failed try again in a little while. It doesn't actually fail so be careful before they stick you with a place to stay, no way to get there and no help. However, today Expedia wants to charge me an extra $418 on top of my credit to buy another ticket. That is about 50% of my airline credit, a total rip-off. Back in January, when I called the airline, they said it was Expedia's responsibility and vice versa. The back-and-forth nearly killed me and now we're back in the same spot. The agent I have spoken to on the phone today sent out an email to the Asiana Airlines requesting my refund. Only to find out that she sent it to the wrong office, not the one in the US. Actually, that's not even the only mistake.

On the phone, she said there was a "no-show" fee when in fact I cancelled months prior to the trip (I had to cancel due to COVID). Without explanation, she apologized but I still do not know if that fee is still added to my account. I DO NOT TRUST EXPEDIA WHATSOEVER. I talked to another agent after this fiasco and he refused to send me the email they sent to the Airlines. Just sent me an email stating that they sent it. But, how do I know if they sent it and if they did, how do I know they sent it to the CORRECT office? So far, it's been lies and mistakes everywhere so how am I supposed to trust this? They could've done this to me back in January and what if the Airlines never even received an email?! I guess I have to keep trying and call the airlines to check if they received that email because if the Airline is saying it's Expedia's responsibility then surely they would sign the approval form, right?

Do not, under any circumstances, use Expedia. We had to cancel flights at Christmas time due to Omicron and were given flight credits. When we tried to redeem them on the app - in January, for travel in summer - it only allowed for one-way bookings. When I logged into the desktop version, it has the same problem. Turning then to the chatbot for help, that is also thoroughly useless. If you want any hope of actual help, you need to ask for a live agent (not that you can speak to them - it's still on chat). So having worked out where we want to go and when, I have spent no less than three hours (literally) online only to be told the 'fare base' rules for our flight credits don't allow that. When I asked "what do they allow", all the agent can say is "pick a different date or destination" (which is not an answer to the question). In sum, no one is able to help you. Of the reasons that you may have heard to avoid booking your vacations through Expedia, let me give you one more, All in all, after 3 attempts to resolve this with Customer Service, I would suggest avoiding Expedia in any of your travel needs. Whatever ease you think you get from searching everything in one location, you will pay for 10 fold if something goes wrong.

My wife and I decided to book a cruise for November of 2021 for the 2 of us and our stepson. We booked the airfare for the cruise through Expedia.com. After hearing of increased Covid restrictions and a change in flight time by Delta, we decided that this type of vacation wasn’t a viable option for us. Expedia gave us airfare credits to be used in the future for the flights. In January of this year we decided to use those credits for a flight to Orlando leaving Minneapolis on March 17th and returning on March 20th. This past Friday (March 4th), we logged into Expedia.com and noticed we still had over a $300 credit per passenger that had to be used by August 9th. Nowhere did it say that these credits were already being used for our Orlando trip. We decided to book a trip using these credits to Los Angeles in July. This is a trip we would have never booked if we didn’t have the credits to do so.

On Saturday we logged back into Expedia.com to find out that our Orlando trip no longer existed. This is a trip that we have already rented a house and car for. A trip that was supposed to happen 12 days from then. I called Customer Service and after getting the run around from Level 1 I was finally transferred to a supervisor (at least that is what I was told). The supervisor could do nothing to resolve this. I wanted my trip to LA cancelled and the original trip to Orlando back on my account at the original cost. I was audibly upset after 1 hour and 10 minutes and the supervisor I was speaking it told me it’s obviously I don’t want her help. I did want her help, however she was not able to help me. Her choice of words were poor at best. She also went on to say that they “Always suggest you call Expedia to use credits.”

She kept repeating this phrase as if it was some sort of protection for her and Expedia. The truth is, not once was I told that. Not by any representative, nor the website prior to me booking the unnecessary Los Angeles trip. This morning I began Customer Service chat with a representative Galal on Expedia’s website. Her lack of understanding was unbelievable. She read the explanation that I concisely spelled out, and came up with my problem being that I no longer had a hotel. Her inability to determine the problem was exacerbating.

When she finally understood my problem, her solution was to cancel all the flights with me receiving a refund for my newly purchased departure on Delta and for me to handle the return flights with Sun Country on my own. In addition to this, her solution would have cost me an additional $690.03 for just rebooking the Delta flight. Attached are screenshots of that conversation. All in all, after 3 attempts to resolve this with Customer Service, I would suggest avoiding Expedia in any of your travel needs. Whatever ease you think you get from searching everything in one location, you will pay for 10 fold if something goes wrong.

I have spent hours of my life trying to reach people… and nothing. I’ve been robbed. Choose wisely when booking through Expedia. They can’t protect you and promote hotels that scam you. Expedia claims there is nothing they can do when they are sitting idly by supporting a place like this and throwing their hands in the air. If anyone has experienced this please let me know what to do next. I will never book through Expedia again and definitely don’t recommend supporting Diria.

Expedia is very good for booking a simple trip that does not change. However, our airline cancelled one of our legs and tried to put us on a 6 AM flight the next day (thus leave home at 4AM). We paid extra to get convenient flying times and the airport we use (an hour away) has tons of other flights to our destination besides the 6AM following day flight. After wasting 45 minutes on the phone with 3 Expedia employees (none of whom had a reasonable ability to speak or understand English), I came to the conclusion they couldn't or weren't going to improve my issue. THEY SHOULD HAVE TOLD ME THAT, CLEARLY IN PLAIN ENGLISH AT THE START OF THE CALL! I then called the airline directly to get this improved. The first thing they said is "sorry, you have to get this fixed with Expedia". After begging, the nice lady, who spoke English fine, was able to change our flight to a more reasonable time.

I purchased insurance for a trip I planned for Florida (car, hotel, airline). It was called "trip insurance" so I believed it covered the trip if there was a problem. My dog began having cluster grand mal seizures which required extensive care & monitoring with medication needs 4+ times a day. There was no one who was willing to be a sitter (hired or family) secondary to the responsibility. I obviously had to cancel as I had no other choice. I filed an honest report with the insurance company and was refused a refund. Now I know I should have said I was exposed to covid or some other lie! If a person purchases TRIP INSURANCE, you assume it will cover you if you need to cancel. IT DOES NOT! Don't waste your money! Myself, I will never shop with expedia.com again in the future. I have used them for 20+ years but will never use them again. This insurance is a scam in my opinion.

On November 26, I stayed at Holiday Inn Oceanside in Vero Beach, FL. The room was totally unacceptable, but the hotel rep and manager said that I'd have to talk to Expedia to get a different room. The info stated that my room was "poolside", but it was impossible to see the pool from the room and it was nearly impossible to see anything IN the room due to the dark walls, dim lighting and fact that no light came through the only window because it faced a solid wall. Opening the door didn't give any more light, either, because it also faced the solid wall.

I asked for a refund so I could just change hotels... I was told that I had to go through "the 3rd party" that I'd booked the room through. I called Amex Travel and was told that I had to go through the hotel. I was already late for my event, so I gave up and decided to handle the matter later. Dec 18, 2021, Jennifer ** at the Holiday Inn Oceanside in Vero Beach Florida, sent me an email stating that I would get a refund for my awful stay/experience. A no-return flight was purchased via Expedia to travel from London, UK to Vancouver, Canada: departure 30/06/2021. Expedia cancelled one of my flight tickets on 27/06/2021. My mother paid extra money to put me back on the same flight. On 29/06/2021 she received another notification which noted that one of my flights in the itinerary was cancelled again. When I called to arrange something, they were confused and said the flight itself was not cancelled, but my ticket was. Expedia customer service could not tell me why and suggested I contact Air Canada, who then sent me back to Expedia, where I managed to get put back on the exact same flight after having to sternly refuse to pay the extra $1000 they requested.

5 hours after the first cancellation, mom received another email; the same flight was cancelled again. I called Air Canada multiple times for guidance and they said it was not their issue and guided me back to Expedia. I spent hours on the phone with Expedia and managed to get my ticket back on the same flight. Later that night, mom received yet another notification saying my tickets were cancelled.

At this point, it is early morning in London and I was due to check into my flight in the next few hours. I called Expedia, there was a 4 hour hold. As I was unable to get my tickets to get on the existing flight I had no choice but to return to my then home; Norwich, UK. After spending money on flights, hotels and trains. Not to mention having gone through the huge emotional labour of saying goodbye to my partner and friends in the UK as my visa had ended. I was stuck in the UK, without a legal visa, wondering where we were going to get the money to go back home.

I called Expedia many times, still no one can explain to me why the tickets were cancelled. I was told all they could do was transfer the booking to a flight the next day but this would have been impossible due to covid travel restrictions at the time; I would have needed another PCR test which takes 2-3 days. I also had no assurance that my flight tickets would not be cancelled again. We had little choice but to pay over $1000 for a flight through another company and I left the UK 2 weeks later. All I have been offered from Expedia is a travel voucher for the same journey as the original flight, this is useless to me as I’m now in Canada.

I asked to speak to a supervisor or manager multiple times by phone and no one has contacted me. I have requested transcripts for the voice calls in August by email and I still do not have them. I resorted to using Twitter to gather their attention, under the handle @RefundMeExpedia, only for them to ignore me and the many other people who are going through similar issues. Expedia has proven to have terrible customer service and turned what was already a big emotional journey for me; leaving my partner, pets, and chosen family in the UK, into an expensive nightmare. Also in between all of this I had to call several times to register special dietary requests and they told me it was too late to request a meal for my ‘new’ flights even though I had already requested it previously when booked well in advance of the flight. Customer service offered no compassion or support. Please help us find justice, a refund, and compensation.

I booked a flight and car reservation through Expedia. I was charged an extremely high baggage fee by the airline because I didn't add baggage at the time of the booking. Since I booked through expedia and not directly through the airline, I had no idea of this excess fee and expedia made no mention of this. Meanwhile, my car reservation was cancelled by Avis a mere 12 hours before I was supposed to pick up the car because the location ran out of cars. Avis didn't offer me the same rate at a new location because they said I booked third party.

After an hour on the phone with expedia they only offered a small credit on a hotel stay; meanwhile I had to scramble to make a new car rental booking while on vacation that ended up costing me twice as much as the cancelled reservation (I booked it directly through the car rental company and even with the high price it was actually cheaper then the new reservations expedia was offering). While I don't think expedia is better or worse than any third party website, I think it's pretty clear from my experiences that you should only deal with airline/hotel/rental companies directly especially in these loopy COVID-19 times where traveling is so much harder.

You start making your reservation for flight, hotel or car rental and during that process they show you a total amount (how much is gonna cost you) but before you start with the payment they send a message saying this: "We hate when this happens. The price of your trip has changed from $630.81 to $1083.40. Rates can change frequently. Book now to lock in this price." So whoever created this new policy is totally nuts. You are gonna lose clients who has been loyal for years. Anyways this is unacceptable and authorities should do something on this matter. Expedia is scamming people and wasting everybody’s time.

When cancelling via Expedia, they also cancelled our insurance without our consent and informed us there was no refund allowed for our reservation. We immediately escalated and placed numerous calls to their noted customer service, where a standard policy statement of no refund was restated. We placed a dispute with our CC company as well.

The empowerment and desire to help customers is totally absent in all communications with Expedia and they have a continual gauntlet of process to impede customers. Expedia has horrible customer service and is at best a transaction based company that has no interest in anything beyond the booking of the moment, not realizing customers have choices and a voice. Called Expedia (1.5 hour hold) to say we wanted to cancel and get our refund (because, protection plan) and after they called the hotel and airline the Expedia representative asks if we also want our insurance plan refunded. My husband was confused and the guy made it seem like we were supposed to get refunded for that too so he refunded it (AKA - HE CANCELLED AND REFUNDED OUR PROTECTION PLAN and then tried to say we couldn’t get anything refunded because they cancelled our protection plan!!!!).

"What??? I told you I wanted my trip refunded." They tried to confuse and trick us into getting the protection plan refunded (cancelled) so that they didn’t have to refund us. Been on hold with their insurance provider now for another hour and was told there was nothing they could do because we cancelled our protection plan. After grabbing the phone and yelling at the guy, he’s going to “call the hotel and airline in the morning” but he has to “follow the policy” and it’s up to the hotel and airlines discretion now. I emailed them right away and let them know that I made a mistake and that I wanted the cancellable option instead due to the uncertainty due to Covid. I then got a text message from them and again asked that they cancel immediately as I made a mistake (buyers remorse). The response I got was that it was being taken care of.

I then recently received my credit card statement and noted that I had been charged in full for the hotel, even though I had cancelled immediately. I contacted them and they said basically that they don't read or respond to emails and that the tests are computer generated and that no one actually reads them and that there is nothing they can do at this point because of the hotel policy. Our experience since COVID... Four elders trying to fly to Hawaii to say good-bye to our family. Expedia did not call back 4 times now when they say they would including a supervisor. They disconnect on chat and did not call back even when they promised to. It took 5 days of calls back and forth between Hawaiian Airlines and Expedia to try to upgrade tickets to first class! Finally, we gave up on upgrading and bought whole new tickets, the last two, so our elders could travel. I have tried to be patient and it is beyond capacity. There is one thing for people to be under pressure and another to false advertise and try to make money off of the situation.

Now, due to Covid in our family, when trying to change the departure date (without a change fee, as promised by the expedia agent upon booking our first-class tickets). Expedia told me to find a seat at a comparable price and they could make the change. I found one online. However, when I gave them the flight, they wanted to charge an additional $1,695 per ticket saying it was not a new ticket so it had a different price…what is that then if it is not a change fee. They asked a fee that would make the fare $2,700. for a change to a date a week later, even though they and Hawaiian had a listed price of $1,044 on that day for the very same itinerary as the first tickets. They said a changed ticket costs more than the new one that is advertised for a first class seat that day by Expedia and Hawaiian. What is that? At minimum false advertising..at max..something illegal?

We intend to contact the Better Business Bureau, and place reviews on the internet! They are making money off of people forced to change to due to Covid. Expedia said it was the airline policy. If we give up our original tickets to make this change, they can sell them at a much higher price And they are asking us for $1,695 per ticket to make this change when their advertised price for the new date is $1044!

I asked if they could please find me another time to go without these astronomical price addon charges since this information is not published anywhere online for me to look. They looked at 3 dates as far ahead as November and it was still to cost an additional $1895. This is their way it seems of advertising no change fee and then making up an amount for the seat different then what is published on their web sites. They both said it was the other's policy. Finally, I gave up with Expedia…and called Hawaiian directly….which I was told would not help.…in tears I could not hold back – I shared the story …they said no problem and changed our tickets for a total of $50 processing fee with expedia and a difference of 3.99 in one fare. I am customer from Expedia for a long time and this time I planning a family travel to Orlando and after go to Miami and return to Boston. First I bought a ticket wrong and 2 days after when I tried to change they refuse to help me. I have a credit that I am not be able to use. They offer me to pay the price more expensive that they have on website just, so I paid the same price that someone buy a ticket without credit. It's ridiculous they refuse to refund and refuse to help me at all. After that one day before my flight they cancel my flight, separate my family, put in different flight and different city to departure. I spend 7 HOURS in phone to fix this, I am not kidding. I am in the line 7 hours.

One more surprise - When I return to Boston they put me in flight that it's not exist, When I tried to check in I can't. When I go to the airport they said that I don't have any reservation in my name. I did a surgery in Miami and I stay all day at the airport until the company find a spot in next flight. Expedia is a terrible company I don't recommended. They don't care about you. I have problem in all my flights. I pay extra fee to get a ticket. I spend 7 hours in the phone to solve a problem that they cause me. Terrible this is the word for expedia.

I have lost a lot of money and thanks to Expedia, when you make a reservation with them, airline, car rental, even cruise lines, you lose your rights because even though you pay your reservation, this reservation does not belong to you. The rights of change or modification are the property of Expedia. This reason removes the right of you to be able to make changes is directly with the commerce, on this vacation one of my children suffered from covid and I could not do anything, lost part of the hotel rentals, car and cruises and we are trying to speak with air lines, cruise and hotel and all the person who speak with me can't help me because I make reservation with Expedia and all the person in the different lines said the same. Don't do reservation with Expedia. Do the business direct.

Although they tell them cancellation without charges that is not true, if you are going to claim or try to make a change it is through Expedia and there is no will to help you, do business directly with the cruise lines, air, cars, do not use Expedia. What little that can be saved they will lose twice as much if any eventuality happens. Advice that the airlines gave me the car rentals and cruises for the next one, do not use Expedia, it is better that you do direct negotiations, they all told me, "I could help you but since you made the reservation with Expedia, I can't help you."

Expedia's trips and hotel reservation platform is a disaster. If you book even 6 months out and want to cancel 5 months out--you are out of luck. They hide that their reservations are NO CANCEL and you pay full agreed price. So if your plans change you are out of luck. Try to get one of their goons on the phone? You are out of luck. I wonder how they stay in business? Internet scams are a federal offense and they sure aren't worried.

Car details Nissan Tiida or similar Midsize. Pricing Summary. Due at car rental counter $950.04. Base price $649.80. Taxes & fees $300.24. Total $950.04. When we arrived, we were given a compact car that would not even hold the passengers and luggage and were told that Expedia really gave us a "C" class car (which means nothing to us) and told that our price for this tiny car was really over $1600.00 USD, not $950.04 as stated on our reservation!

So, here we are with a car that is too small for our passengers and luggage but now we are also being charged almost twice what our Expedia confirmation letter stated. The car rental said this kind of mistake is common with Expedia and it was all their fault. Our encounter was very unpleasant and the Hertz/Thrifty agent really did not care what our problem was or if we would ever be return customers. Very unhappy in this deceptive event!

I booked couple of tickets from Expedia back in July 2021, flight was schedule in July 2021, Emirates Airlines cancelled flight schedule on that day, I called Expedia to get refund on my tickets as Emirates Airlines was not giving future dates for the flights from Pakistan to Canada, Expedia rep told me that they cannot switch airlines on same tickets hence, advised me to pay for another ticket with different airline as refund will take few months. I did not know Expedia well at that point and took his advise and paid for another tickets with Air Canada.

Flight was scheduled in July. Qatar Airways operating on behalf of Air Canada from Pakistan refused to get one of my parent on board due to some reasons. They told me to get either book another flight or get refund. I called Air Canada right away and Air Canada rep told me that I can get full refund if I notified airline couple of hours ago from the missed flight, since I called them 4 hours ago from the missed flight, they told me to contact Expedia because I booked my ticket via Expedia. Now I called Expedia to cancel or reschedule the flight, they told me to contact Air Canada directly because they charged my credit card, there were 2 dozens of calls and emails I sent to both of them back and forth but no result.

Finally I complaint to Expedia USA on twitter and they promised to escalate my case to upper management, still no result. Finally after a month somebody from Expedia management called me and advised me to transfer the credits rather taking refund as refund will take 2-5 months. The call was recorded and the rep told me I can use these credits on any airline. Now I called them back to re-schedule my flights and they shocked me with the reply that I can only use these credits on Air Canada and Air Canada has no schedule flights from that region for another year or so. It was a height of bad customer services.

I then gather all my back up and evidences and called consumer affairs and they helped me a lot, they then advised me to involve my credit card provider. It was 8k in limbo and I wanted to book another ticket for my parents as time was running out, so I provided all evidence to AMEX and they gave me refund on my tickets. Moral of my story is that do book your tickets with airlines directly as Airline rep told me that they treat customer differently if they book indirectly, secondly always use best credit cards to pay these kind of payments, Amex treat much better than any other credit card. Expedia has the worst customer services.

Expedia is not even deserving of a one star review. June 2020 we booked a trip to Lisbon and due the pandemic we had to cancel, from this trip we have a flight credit of almost $4,000. Fast forward to that same year I booked a flight to Italy to which unfortunately I had to cancel because it wasn’t a COVID-free flight. There goes another flight credit for $3880. November 26, 2021 I received an email from the dispute department stating that British Airways filed a claim for the unused flight credit. I ignored it thinking it was a scam. I finally replied to Expedia stating it was near impossible to redeem the flight credits. I was transferred to six different representatives because each and every single one that answered said they are unable to help me with booking a trip with vouchers. Why do you even provide a phone number and route me to the incorrect department for my needs?

Four hours later of my precious Sunday I was told by the last representative whom I have clearly stated that after speaking with British Airways that they needed to call a phone number specific to reopen my tickets and that is only done by the airline and the travel agent. After the representative refused to call the airline I demanded to speak with the manager. After that representative realize it was her mistake after all she finally agreed to do what she was getting paid for and that is to call British Airways. December 13, 2021 I received an email from Expedia stating that British Airways took the full credit of my flights and they are demanding repayment. Say what? Expedia you are joking right?

I have almost $8,000 and unused airline credits and you want me to pay for that again? I will chalk up your email as you have probably lost your minds. Why would I want to pay for unused airline credits? You owe me, not the other way around. This sounds like a dispute between you and British Airways. I don’t see why me as a customer needs to be in the middle of this. You are all a mess. You have definitely lost a customer and I will never refer you to anyone. You are a nightmare to deal with and I have wasted so many hours on different occasions. I’m glad those credits got transferred to British Airways so I don’t have to deal with you again!

I have worked with Expedia for years and recently I've lost sleep over the terrible customer service. My first flight originally got cancelled and I received airline credit from Expedia. Then I used that credit to book later and the price was surcharged for only my airline and I then had to pay an extra mid 200's out of my pocket additional. Peaking at Google flights, my airline had a lower price. So this is Expedia knowing I had to book with my airline with my credit and they raised the price of only my airline to make more money.

Now my flight was unavailable and I received an email to either rebook or receive credit. Knowing that I will be surcharged again, I called to make sure the price without factoring the credit would be honored. Apparently no matter what even though the flights were lower prices, the remaining balance of my credit will be forfeited aka they pocket the rest.

I have asked to speak with a supervisor multiple times. Then I was being put on hold to "check on policies". Some of the agents that put us on hold have hung up and I have also been lied to about a supervisor's office hours by over 3 agents. Then I asked to receive an email for confirmation and one person was able to send me an email while a few other agents claimed they don't have email. Also one agent said they were going to transfer me to a supervisor and 20 minutes later, another agent their level picked up. So they lied again.

I received a call over 30 hours later and the supervisor said the same thing as the agent and that according to the airline, the remaining credit balance will be forfeited. Also there was no way to identify them or identify which call center this is from. From big corporations, they will provide you with an employee number for reference if you had to speak to a higher power and also the supervisor claimed that there is no one above them to speak to which is definitely a lie as well.

To verify if this is true, I went above and called the airline directly and they said this is not their policy and whatever remaining balance would remain in my account to use for future trips. My airline ended up rebooking my flight free of charge and also honored the lower price and now I have over $300 of credit in my account which was the extra money I was surcharged by Expedia. These people will do everything in their power to lie to you and keep your money. Do not book with Expedia.

I purchased 4 flight tickets to India through Expedia at least three months before the trip. By the second month, the airline made changes to the booking without consulting us. They rebooked our flights for another day for both the outbound and inbound flights. The dates were changed by a day for both segments. Since my Expedia account was not reflecting any of the changes the airline made, I called Expedia. They explained that this was a change made by the airline and that the airline will take care of connecting flights and other itinerary details. They asked me to wait and not do anything since I had a month to travel and the airline was actively making schedule changes and I had nothing to worry about.

As my travel date neared I checked my online Expedia account and to my shock realized my connecting flights were not in sync with the changes made by the airline. So I called Expedia again and this time an agent helped out and corrected all the mistakes and she went over the correct dates and time and flight numbers with me. Followed by an email with the corrected date and time and the correction reflected on my account correctly.

The next shock came when I called the airline directly to check if I can change one of my tickets to a different date and the airline travel agent told me my connecting flights are all messed up and I need to contact Expedia to get it corrected. I was quite puzzled at this time since that last agent I thought did all the corrections already. I checked the Expedia account and that was showing all the correct info as well so I called back Expedia and spoke to a different agent and she looked at my booking and said there is an agent error that has happened hence my connecting flights are all messed. She tried to correct it and I was on the call with her for two days for almost 7 to 8 hours combined. Finally, she said she was able to get it corrected and told me she will call back again as there are some other issues at her end.

I waited for her call for one more day and called back Expedia again and to my utter shock come to know there are no more connecting flights in my itinerary. By this point I couldn't trust Expedia anymore. After spending close to 4 hrs again I asked the agent to cancel my trip (which was very important for me) a week and a half before the travel date. If I hadn't called the airline that day for another reason I wouldn't have realized the mess Expedia has done to my booking. I was a loyal customer of Expedia so far but this incident and a few other incidents (which is not mentioned here) make me think twice before giving them more business.

The worst in customer service and a big scam. Here's how it works, on the website they say cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund. Most people will try to cancel last minute. You can never reach them in less than a frustrating 1 hour of wait time! Next the agent will tell you to contact the airline directly. You spend another hour with the airline who redirects you to Expedia saying the booking website is responsible for all changes on your ticket. You wait another hour to talk to yet another agent who will keep repeating the information and you can barely understand any of them you don't know which part of the world you are speaking to. Meanwhile you realize you are over 24 hours and you lose part of your money.

Even if you manage to call within 24 hours they will give you the most absurd solutions. I was suggested to cancel and book the same destination flight which would cost me 3 times more. Does not end there, they will not even honor the price available on their own website, instead tell you they can only offer the price available on their system which is always 2 time higher! They will get you scammed one way or another!

I booked a flight for me and my partner a flight to Florida to attend his father's funeral on the 9th November. We were not informed during any part of the information provided that a Canadian visa would be required to spend 1 hour stopover in Toronto. As such we spent over 1 hour filling out the form on our phones which was very lengthy and after leaving at 5am to travel to the airport we could have done without. Sadly I was without a document that I needed for my application to be accepted (which was in paper form at home 2 hours drive away) and therefore I was not allowed to board the flight.

I can't tell you how this added to an already stressful and emotional situation and meant that I had to allow my partner to board the flight alone (as he was in danger of missing the flight) whilst I tried to find another solution. Had I been aware a visa was needed for an hour stopover, I would have been prepared. I had to pay for another flight that didn't stop in Canada which cost me over £900 and had to travel alone....Total journey equated to 24hours! I reached out to Expedia to see if I could discuss the situation with someone, and they have simply emailed me a reply below. They have not taken any responsibility and not even shown me the courtesy of a phone call. I feel that this type of message would refer to the Country that you are flying to and would not be something that would be required for an hour stop over??? Which is why I feel it important to share so that others do not find themselves in the same predicament....I will not be using this company again.

"We would like to inform you that precise travel requirements are posted directly on the website of the respective embassies. I have used Expedia as my primary source for booking any type of travel. I have run into some problems in the past and they have not been very flexible in helping me resolve any problems but for the most part was satisfied. This last trip, I booked a car rental. In the contract, it states that you need to have identification and a visa. There is nothing that stated it can't be a visa/debt card. When I got to the airport, Hertz would not rent me the car based off my credit or lack of credit score because I pay for everything in cash. If you use expedia, be prepared when you call their customer service. You will be transferred to somebody in India or other foreign country. You can't get anyone that speaks English. They would not do anything to help me out even though I had more than $4K in the bank and they should not have denied my visa.

Not only would they not help me get another rental but they would not reverse the initial charges even though they did not provide the service I paid for. I will be kicking this back on my Visa card as they did not honor the purchase. I will never be using Expedia again. Terrible customer service. If you are traveling, go with an actual travel broker that understands customer service and can actually communicate with you.

It took 3 hours with them to help me rebook. Despite telling me that the cost would be taken care of, the hotel required me to pay at the counter. When I called Expedia to seek a refund on the other booking, they said the hotel refused and there was nothing they could do. $1,000 in costs that I have to pay out of pocket now given the conflict between the hotel and this platform. Going through a third-party has made things infinitely more complicated. I will only be directly booking w/ the hotel, airlines and car rental companies from this point forward.

After losing 2 of the preferred flights I had looked up due to his "connection" speed the agent assured me he changed my booking to reflect EWR->MIA ->EYW and EYW -> CLT -> EWR. Adding the disclaimer it takes 24 hours for Expedia's itinerary to update to reflect the changes. 24 hours later checking my itinerary I was shocked the support agent failed to book the flight after the layover. Leaving me with a reservation for EWR > MIA one day and a return EYW > CLT. With no way to get to my destination *EYW or return back to *EWR.

I was told by Expedia that the rooms were booked, given a confirmation number, and given reminder emails leading up to the date. Well I get to the hotel and it turns out that due to a booking error Expedia never actually booked my room! So I arrived at the hotel around 11:30 PM just ready to crash, had an absolute panic attack, and scrambled to find something nearby before midnight or else I'd have nowhere to go until 3 PM the next day.

I ended up paying more for this backup hotel, a hotel which was of lesser comfort, than my original booking. When I reached out to Expedia I asked for a voucher or credit to restore my faith in their abilities and as a show of care for their customers. They said no because I hadn't been charged by the original hotel. So no foul right? Wrong! To me this shows how very little they care about their customers and it shows how flawed their booking system is. I used them because they're supposed to be reliable and make bookings easier, but instead they left me high and dry and in a state of panic.

TLDR don't trust Expedia to have your back even when they're the ones at fault.

The rep said she'd that the trip was non refundable, but she could call the hotel and ask if it was ok to make the change from 2 night to 1. She proceeded to make the call and got permission. She then told me to call the hotel to confirm, which I did (they acknowledged that the Expedia rep had called and they had given the permission to change the reservation to one night). The Expedia rep also explained to get a refund for the one night, I would need a receipt from the hotel showing I was there for just 1 night.

Great! So I made another reservation with the hotel by the airport (which I wouldn't have done if the rep hadn't gone through that process with me). When I called Expedia after the trip to work on the refund, the new rep said, "Sorry, you booked 2 nights, you've forfeited the one night.." I explained the above; why would the Expedia rep call the hotel to get the OK, etc... Nothing, I just lose my money after that whole process. Did they lie? Are they incompetent? Why would I have booked another hotel if that all hadn't taken place? Not the organization I want to do business with again.

BAD customer service. Put on hold for total of 173 minutes, spoke with 5 different agents. Promised calls back 3 times, never happened. Worst of all, they don't have a way to leave feedback without calling. LOL!! No email, no way to leave reviews for the website. I'm sure it is because they would be inundated with emails from irate customers like myself. NEVER USE EXPEDIA!! Not worth saving a few bucks, no way.

I reserved a rental car through Expedia for a trip out of town. I thought with a name like Expedia I was going to be okay. The rental company Payless said they were not honoring Expedia's reservations and would not refund me. Expedia would not refund me either. Wasted hours trying. Go direct to the rental company NEVER use Expedia.

A reservation was made through Expedia for Extended Stay America in Norwalk, CT. Upon arrival at the hotel for check-in Extended Stay had no record of the reservation. I provided the Expedia reservation number to the hotel and the email. Extended Stay overbooked and stated they could not provide me a room. The hotel did not help me find another room in the area. I had to book a new hotel last minute for double the cost.

I spoke to customer service at Expedia and they stated because I did not prepay for the room the hotel sometimes overbooks. Expedia nor Extended Stay would help me get reimbursed or provide a credit/voucher for the overage. It is important for consumers to be aware that an Expedia reservation (if not prepaid) may not be honored and the consumer will be stuck with no room. This can be especially frustrating on a busy weekend when other nearby hotels are booked. I would recommend booking with the hotel directly and not using Expedia for important hotel stays. Thank you.

We booked a rental car through Expedia. Nowhere in the booking did it mention that the rental car agency--at the airport--would not rent to locals. You must have a flight number. The rental car agency was fine with refunding the money and called Expedia to authorize it. Two weeks later, still no refund, so they were contacted again. They claim the proper procedure wasn't followed and after an hour on chat (because you're not allowed to talk to a real person) they said they are working on the refund. We went back to the rental car agency to make sure they properly authorized, and they were confused why we weren't refunded.

Another week passed, no refund. Contacted customer service AGAIN and they said they would expedite the process and that it is being worked on. More than a month later, no refund. The truth is, if you are expecting a refund, it will NEVER HAPPEN. We WILL NEVER use Expedia again. It's sad, because it used to be a good company and we used to use them all the time, but they are criminals now.

I had booked several rooms for a wedding weekend. When I called to change one of the reservations, the agent mistakenly deleted the wrong one. Our conversation was recorded in a virtual chat transcript where I repeatedly told him not to touch one of the rooms. I had a bad feeling and called the hotel after talking with the agent and was told by the hotel that I had no reservations in my name! I was advised by Expedia to rebook at the (higher) current rate and work with them on the back end to get a refund. I was told I had to pay the hotel directly and then send Expedia the receipt.

I ended up paying $756 extra and all efforts to rectify the situation with Expedia failed. They kept promising me a review, a refund of the case, but after more than 5 calls, 10 hours and hollow promises, they never followed up to update me/close out the situation. I have used Expedia for over 15 years, but not anymore. Slimy and totally disreputable. I am out $756 for an error made by their agent in a foreign country.

I cancelled booking, and despite a full refund from the hotel, Expedia is charging. They are breaking their own communication policy, so I had to dispute the charge with the bank. They somehow found the time to go to the bank to reverse the charge, despite ignoring my emails for MONTHs. This is dishonest and feels like theft, as the charge was fully refunded from the hotel. Hotels have indicated that third parties like Expedia make everything more difficult. They are an unnecessary intermediary which makes it difficult to make any changes to bookings. Do not use Expedia!

When I try to book another flight with my credit the Expedia site block to booking. Because you have to make the new reservation through the agency agent and Expedia charge me the most expensive flight. For example. My flights cost me 425. And when I try to make another reservation with my credit the agent told me that I need to pay 678. But if I made the reservation without the credit the same flight cost me 417. On American Airlines. Awful!!! Worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. I book through sites like this several times per year. My first time using Expedia, and I will never use them again. I booked a flight, hotel, and shuttle from hotel in Mexico through them. When my flight was delayed I tried, for 2.5 hours, to contact the shuttle company and Expedia to change shuttle times or cancel shuttle. I was disconnected from Expedia customer service 12 times at the airport, after 3 people told me they would cancel the shuttle (which never happened). Called shuttle service and emailed them, never got any response. Had to book, and pay for, a separate shuttle.

When I got home I tried calling Expedia again. Disconnected 4 more times!! Had to file a dispute with my credit card company because you cannot speak with Expedia customer service. Expedia has sent me three emails now saying that they cannot get through to the shuttle company booked through them!! And their conclusion is that I should have to pay for it! A company they can’t reach. How was I to reach them?!

Booked one night at Red Roof Inn in Sutton, Mass. When we arrived at hotel our room was disgusting. It was not clean, the bathroom was falling apart, there was mold/mildew on the walls and the rugs and when I pulled back the bedding there was someone else's black hairs on the white sheets. There was no way we were staying there and ended up driving home in the middle of the night, exhausted, in rainy, horrible driving conditions. When I went back to the desk and told them about the issue they said I needed to contact Expedia for a refund.

Expedia said they had to verify I did not stay with the hotel. They told me they were unable to reach the hotel and the hotel manager told me Expedia never called them. Needless to say I never received my refund despite many calls to the hotel and to Expedia. Very frustrating that Expedia would not stand by their customers and help in a situation like this. Of course all the pictures on this hotel's website are beautiful.

Expedia recommends Red Lion Downtowner in Boise ID on their site. It was the worst experience I ever had in a hotel. 1. Needed to recode the key every time I left room, it never worked twice. 2. It's run down and dirty. 3. Elevator for 7 floors is a 5 minute wait. I cook a better tasting and looking breakfast than one they serve, place was empty every morning, not a good sign. 4. Took a jacuzzi at the pool, key didn't work to get back in hotel, had to walk all the way around to front. 5. Bad area, homeless people walking round and obvious $500 wreck in the parking lot where homeless people parking there.

    6. A customer yelled at me for trying to get on elevator with her and her husband when my floor door opened and when I did she pushed me out, I complained to front desk, they did nothing, not even a report. Then the crazy customer called the police and I had to be interviewed. 7. I asked no room service sheet changing the first day, since I got in late, but they never came over three days, didn't even return my message to housekeeping. 8. Tell me this place isn't effed up. 9. I'm done with Expedia, too. Never use them again to book.

We purchased our airline tickets through Expedia and paid extra to lock in our seat selection ahead of time for a very long flight. Five days before our flight, we checked on the airline website and there was only one seat reserved instead of two. I called the airline and they told me Expedia was responsible for solving the problem—it was their block ticket. Expedia customer service told me it was the airline’s problem and refused to let me speak to a supervisor. After going around and around, the agent put me on hold, came back on the line and told me everything was fine. This turned out to be completely incorrect. We did not have a second seat. After reciting this story with friends, it appears it happens all the time with Expedia. People show up to the airport thinking their seats are all set and they are not….so you’re stuck sitting in a middle seat for endless hours. I’m very dissatisfied.

Expedia, booked me for an executive suite (1 room) which by the way wasn't an option when I booked (internationally btw). The rooms are non refundable and the hotel refused to waive the fee and rebook the 3 rooms. Now I'm forced to book 2 additional rooms at nearby hotels because of their error. I will seek legal advice because I'm positive this is illegal for them to do. Never will used them again.

I would like to give no star if possible but I can’t. I went to California for 1 day only ended up renting a car for that day. Expedia website takes you 2 weeks ahead every time you are trying to rent a car making you changing manually the actual date that you wanted for…. I was looking for options so I went back a forward on the page without noticing that they have changed the reservation date those two weeks ahead.

When I arrived to the rental car they told me to rent out another car there of course at a different rate $99 (almost double of what I paid to Expedia $57) and Fox Rental told me that with my new confirmation number Expedia was going to make a refund… immediately after I called Expedia before even doing my reservation only to avoid issues on my refund EXPEDIA assured me that I was going to get the refund. So I went ahead and rent it the car on site within 7 days. In 5 days received an email saying that Fox was not going to give me the money back. So I called Fox and they told me that nobody from Expedia have contact them on regards of my case. Ended up paying between Expedia and Fox Rental $156 for an economy car for 1 day!!!

I would like to give no star. Due to a family emergency, which eventually resulted in unexpected brain surgery on my spouse on 7/30, I cancelled a one night reservation for 7/22 at the New Haven Hotel on George Street in New Haven 3 days (7/18) after making and paying Expedia $205.00 for the room on 7/16. I immediately notified the hotel which said okay and referred me to Expedia for a refund. I tried to contact Expedia via chat, but couldn't get through, then called them the next day and explained the circumstances. Expedia asked for the name of the hotel person who approved the cancellation. I called the hotel back, got that name, and provided it to Expedia Expedia said that they would have to verify. Then I heard nothing more.

I also started a billing dispute through my credit card company. I was just informed, in mid September, that Expedia's response was merely that no credit was due. I wish that I have read all the other reviews on Consumer Affairs about the poor quality of Expedia before I booked through them. I will never received anything of value for my $205 and I will never use their service again.

DO NOT USE EXPEDIA OR YOU'LL LOSE MONEY. I rent a car from Fox via carrentals.com and paid $1,707. However, when I got the car, the invoice showed $767. I called Fox directly and Fox confirmed that they only got $767 and Expedia profited $940 just being the middle man (more than the rental price). When I emailed Expedia, they always delayed by the excuse of "waiting to hear from the vendor" and then complete silence despite my efforts to follow up by emails/calls. I have the invoice with me as proof. You'd better rent a car directly from the companies than through this 3rd party. They claimed to get you better deals but it's not true. I lost money but wanted to warn people so they will not end up like me.
