We bought 7 tickets for hop on hop off for Cancun. We got to pickup area 16 minutes before schedule but Turibus was no show. We called Turibus 4 times but no answer. About 2 hours into waiting we called Expedia who also tried calling Turibus to no avail. We waited about 3 hours in 38 degree heat and humidity. We asked the vendors in the pick up area and they were equally surprised the bus had not showed up that day. We eventually left and asked Expedia for refund who has no leverage but goes with whatever a nonperforming vendor says. It's like been traumatized over and over (missed a tour of Cancun, waited about 3 hours for a 2 hour round the city tour, no response from Turibus, awful customer experience and no refund from Expedia). Buyer beware that Expedia does not look out for your interests but their cut.

Never will I use any venue that uses Expedia for any part of their service. We booked an important trip in a package deal with another vendor. Expedia was who they used for the airport to hotel/hotel to airport shuttle. We waited of around an hour and a half at the airport for a shuttle that never arrived. On my 4th phone call to the shuttle service, they finally told me they didn’t have a shuttle to send. We made other arrangements for each transport. When I attempted to reach Expedia for a refund, their emails “are not monitored”. Their customer service agents (yes plural) disconnect the call as soon as I begin to explain what I am calling for. A total, very frustrating waste of time trying to deal with them. In short, they absolutely suck. Never again!

It feels like once Expedia gets paid, they no longer care about their customers. My case number is **. On Wednesday August 13, 2025, at 2:35pm, I booked a stay at a motel through Expedia.ca for August 30 and 31. I specifically requested 2 rooms with 2 beds per room. The operator assured me multiple times that the one room will have 2 beds, and the second room will have a single queen. However, the hotel can take out the queen and put 2 twin beds. I specifically said to the operator that if this is possible then yes, let’s book. Once at the hotel the motel manager was shocked to hear that the operator confirmed the 2 rooms, however the configuration of the rooms cannot be changed. At this point I was stuck paying for a room ($514.72) I could not use, and I could not cancel without a cancellation charge.
I called Expedia to try to resolve the issue, and they sent me to a third-party company called Reservation Counter. My reservation Itinerary Number is ** and I spoke to the operator and supervisor and specifically told them that I was led to believe that what I requested would be available to me upon my arrival. Both the supervisor and operator were indifferent to my situation stating, “they will put in a request to the Escalations Team”. I received an email saying they will respond in 5 to 7 business days, and nobody has contacted me yet. Since then, I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and also filed a complaint with the Canadian Department of Consumer Protection (Competition Bureau). Shame on you Expedia! What you’re doing to people is criminal.

Never book a car rental through Expedia. I booked a rental for Enterprise Exotic Cars, because I wanted to drive up the Pacific Coast Highway in a fancy car, because it’s on my bucket list. Well, when I showed up to pick up my car, I was dumbfounded to learn Expedia booked it through Alamo and not Enterprise. I clearly had all the documentation that showed an Enterprise Car reservation. When I called because they ruined my trip, they tried to tell me I booked it incorrectly. That’s BS because I never got any documentation from Alamo before my rental car pick-up. I REPEAT, NEVER BOOK ANYTHING THROUGH EXPEDIA. DO IT DIRECTLY WITH THE COMPANY. That included rental cars, flights, activities, and everything else they offer. You know Expedia sucks when the places you book it with tells you never to use Expedia if you want to get what you want.

The hotel price was a big difference than Expedia... it's better you book direct with the hotel than Expedia. I didn't expect this and they refuse to refund the money. The customer agent told me the hotel receipt is wrong. Diamond Hotel in Malinda which we booked they finalized everything. Now Expedia says the amount is wrong. Then I received another email basically saying they were 'agent' for hotel. (Betting that is lie.) Reservation was non-cancellable. Illness happened and tonight I will be a no-show. Short version: Expedia booked us with a car rental company that took our money and did not deliver the car as promised. We booked flight, car rental and hotel through Expedia. Common sense lead us to believe when we search for car rentals from LAX we would see appropriate offers and prices. Not knowing specific addresses or the locale, we assumed the offers matched our requirements. The website does not warn when search results do not meet your requirements! Somehow, the first car rental reservation was for pick-up hours prior to our arrival. So, you have to constantly check and double check everything because the clunky website does not not assist in any useful way as far as we can tell.
We were booked with 24Seven Car Rental (who the he!! is that?). I uploaded proof of insurance to 24Seven as requested. They told us it would cost $140 just to re-open the reservation to make ANY changes but we agreed because we needed to pick up from their airport location. I made the changes and agreed to the extra charge and was told it would have to be paid at the counter on arrival. We followed what little instruction we had and navigated LAX shuttles to the Economy Parking. We were instructed to find the "Priceless/Nextcar" shuttle at that location but the driver would not let us board. There was no explanation why the company changed but the reservation number matched.
Our phones were dead so we had to find an outlet in the deserted parking garage and charge up a bit. Kind of felt like a scene from a horror movie. 24Seven phones were forwarded to somebody's cell phone but we just got the message that voice mail, "has not been set up, please try again later". We showed the driver our reservation and he finally let us board the shuttle. After winding around we were dropped off at some back lot behind a hotel where there was a Priceless counter. We gave our reservation number and she told us we were in the wrong City and she reiterated the original reservation details. She did not have the update. Ok, so why did Priceless emails/texts direct us to that shuttle and that location?
They don't have any other shuttle to any other location from LAX's econ parking. So, the instructions and directions were based on the updated reservation but the desk clerk refused to look into it and instead claimed that there was nothing in their system whatsoever under our names or reservation number. She had no explanation how it all disappeared while we stood there. The desk clerk then told us she did not have any cars for rent and there was nothing she could do. At this point we assumed we were victims to some elaborate scam with fake locations, etc. Our nightmare was only getting worse. We left but the clerk was not kind enough to open the gate so we had to walk by the garbage dumpster and loading dock through some back alley to get out where we ordered an Uber.
We canceled that credit card but the original booking had already gone through. 24Seven has not replied to our request for a refund. I do not appreciate having no one accountable after being bounced around among irreputable companies that I've never even heard of. I paid for a week's car rental but all I got through Expedia was the absolute worst, most frustrating car rental experience ever! So, now I get to try and let some AI bot try to fix my problem but that is not working because they are not programmed to give back money or solve real problems. You have been warned about Expedia, 24SevenCarRental.com, Priceless/Nextcar.

The rate was much higher than through Expedia, so we booked and paid through them. Once we arrived at the LaQuinta in Clarksville, TN, the clerk told us that we were the fourth person that day who Expedia had given them a room that was not available (room with 2 queens) but a king room was available. When I went that route, Expedia told me they could not issue a refund because the hotel refused it and they would be charged. Expedia cleared $12.5 billion profit ending June 2025. Their CEO made 12 million in her first year. They can afford to refund the small amount that I was asking for. Instead, they offered me a token $25.00 compensation in OneKey Cash (that can only be used on a future booking). Why would I ever book anything through them knowing that they don't back their customers at all? I offered pictures of the hotel multiple times and nobody even bothered to look at them to verify how disgusting that room was. I will never ever use Expedia again. We spent HOURS calling Expedia. Their response? 👉 “It’s the airline’s fault.” After chasing the airline, we learned the truth: Expedia had cancelled her confirmed ticket and rebooked incorrectly. By the time this was uncovered, the flight was gone. She missed it. Expedia shrugged and called it a “glitch.” No accountability. No solution. No compassion. Their so-called “customer service”? 2+ hours of hold time and blame-shifting. Rude agents who refused to escalate. A promised “manager callback in 20 minutes” that came 2 hours later at 12:30 AM.
Result: my niece, a student with limited means, was left stranded overseas. We had to buy a new ticket at 3x the cost just to bring her home. This isn’t just bad service—it’s negligence. Expedia CA failed to honor their own written confirmation, failed to resolve their mistake, and failed a young customer who trusted them. Families deserve better. Travelers deserve better. I had one of the worst experiences booking through Expedia. I booked a rental car through Expedia specifically searching for Vancouver International Airport pickup. However, when I arrived, I discovered the rental location was 5 miles away from the airport, not at the airport as shown during booking. This misinformation alone caused unnecessary confusion and stress. To make matters worse, the rental location closed at 9:30 PM, and my delayed flight meant I couldn’t pick up the car that night. The next morning at 8:00 AM, I went to the rental office, only to be told there were no cars available. The staff confirmed that since I didn’t pick up the vehicle, I wouldn’t be charged.
When I called Expedia, the representative assured me it was a simple case — I would get a full refund plus compensation for the inconvenience. Instead, Expedia failed to promptly process my refund and completely ignored the additional expenses I incurred, such as multiple Uber rides to and from the airport and the off-site rental location. They eventually did not refund the money, and also caused significant hassle, wasted hours of my time, and cost me money that should never have been spent — all because of Expedia’s misleading listing and poor resolution process. I will be avoiding Expedia in the future, and I strongly recommend others do the same.

We recently booked a stay at Comfort Inn Lancaster County through Expedia. We checked in to the Comfort Inn Columbia Lancaster on 5/24/25, expecting a clean, comfortable stay. Our room was mildewy and moldy. Upon arrival, I took a short nap and awoke with a terrible headache. We looked at the bathroom walls at what appeared to be paint over black mold. We asked the front desk for another room and they advised the hotel was completely booked. It's unacceptable that the hotel didn't offer a better solution. They refused to refund our room as we had a non-refundable reservation booked through Expedia.
When we called Expedia, they wanted us to upgrade the reservation, so they could issue a refund - what a joke! We were also denied a refund when we attempted to dispute the charge with our credit card. It's unacceptable that we live in a 1st world country and we are expected to accept a nasty, moldy room without the courtesy of an acceptable refund policy! We paid $291.47 for a 2-night reservation on a room that we couldn't stay in, because we didn't want to get sick.

However, these additional items are not included in their receipts which I didn't notice, and then I ask for refund but they won't because no item listed in the receipt!

I booked a motel for a needy family in Pennsylvania as they waited for my apartment to be finished in rehabilitation but minutes I discovered that they had gotten housing. So I called Expedia and they assured me that they could get the money back. But 2 days later they contended they couldn't refund the money. That's theft (no services rendered, goods received in return). Do not book with Expedia!

I am writing to express my deep disappointment with Expedia’s handling of my recent booking. I reserved a balcony cabin through Expedia, which prominently advertised a $200 onboard credit as a perk for booking with them. In the detailed itinerary email attachment, the terms stated that the offer required online redemption more than 21 days prior to sailing, and that the cruise must be paid in full before submission. I complied fully—submitting the redemption form on April 11th, the very same day I paid the balance in full. My sailing date was August 3rd, well beyond the 21-day requirement.
Despite meeting every condition, when I reviewed my room bill during my cruise last week, there was no onboard credit applied. Upon returning, I contacted Expedia immediately. Instead of acknowledging the issue, I was questioned about whether I submitted the form at all and even asked if I took a screenshot of the submission confirmation. Realistically, why would a loyal customer anticipate needing to document a Jotform submission from such a large, established company?
To make matters worse, I was told that unless I can provide proof of submission, my only recourse is to dispute the charge with my credit card company. I have booked over a dozen trips with Expedia in the past, but this experience has left me disheartened, discouraged, and questioning whether large companies like Expedia truly value loyal customers. The lack of accountability and follow-through is unacceptable. I hope this feedback is taken seriously, as this experience has caused me to reconsider using Expedia for future travel.

Expedia. Apparently I can't leave a review on their website right now coincidentally after I've been emailing them with complaints so I figured I'd leave it here instead. They are falsely listing their hotels near tourist attractions they are not near. I had booked at the Quality Hotel shown because it was apparently under 5KM from the Biodome and a short driving distance to all the popular tourist attractions listed below. Well I got to Montreal and went to the hotel. Lo and behold it is over double the KM from the Biodome then listed and every single attraction they listed had the wrong driving time estimates. It is nowhere near any of the attractions below.
I had called Expedia right away to speak with an agent and she gave me 3 options; A) pay an extra $500 for 3 nights to be in the area of Montreal I already paid to be in as far as I was aware, B) get a full refund and have no hotel or C) get reimbursed for the Uber fares because they were over double of what they should of been due to the hotel being further than listed so I picked that option. I came home from my trip having to pay for multiple Uber rides. Around $30 to get to all these "close" by attractions so I sent them the bills as I had previously talked to an agent and she had opened a case for me, well they wanted to refund me in Expedia points. After my first call I made it clear I didn't want to be paying crazy amounts of money in Uber fares because they are falsely advertising this hotel to be near all the attractions we had already bought tickets to go do.
I made it clear I would be needing multiple rides and the cost roughly of each ride. She confirmed it never saying anything about points just to try and give me points like I would want to book again with agents who can't do the bare minimum of not falsely advertising listings? They never said a refund in Expedia points at any point during the call and called it an action of "goodwill" like they aren't falsely listing it to be near tourist attractions. The amount of mistakes on that listing it seems more like a money grab than a mistake on the listing. Especially now that I've emailed them with proof and all the false information is still listed for that hotel for the same exact thing to happen to someone else!
They are extremely unprofessional and I would double check anything they have listed. With the amount of tourist attractions it is supposed to be close to and for it not near any of the ones listed plus the lack of fixing their errors I can't believe that it's anything more than they are falsely advertising to get tourists to over pay for a hotel in a bad section of Montreal.

I booked a prepaid rental car through Expedia, expecting a straightforward experience. Instead, it turned into weeks of wasted time, unexpected charges, and repeated broken promises. When I arrived to pick up the car from Routes, I was charged an additional $228.39 for a Collision Damage Waiver (CDW)—a charge I did not authorize or agree to, and that was never clearly disclosed in Expedia’s booking process. Expedia later confirmed the prepaid amount I paid to them only covered the “base rate,” but did not make this clear before purchase.
Worse, I’ve had to chase both Expedia and Routes for answers. I repeatedly requested escalation. Calls were scheduled for specific times—yet Expedia failed to call me at the agreed time multiple times, including once at 3:51 AM on a Sunday morning, and another time simply not calling at all. Even after confirming my availability (3–4 PM Eastern on two separate days), they called outside that window and claimed I was unreachable.
Throughout this process, Expedia has claimed to “be here to help” and “ensure a smooth travel experience,” but my experience has been the opposite—frustrating, costly, and time-consuming. I also found more cost-effective rental options outside of Expedia, which I would have booked if the pricing had been transparent from the start. I will not be using Expedia again and caution others to double-check terms and compare direct pricing before booking. This experience has been far from smooth, helpful, or customer-focused.

I have used Expedia three times in my life, the most recent today, and my experience each time has been so bad I kick myself for returning to them. My previous bad experiences were with hotel bookings, both nightmare level situations. This time it’s for a rental car which I, very stupidly, thought might be different. Expedia did not inform me I would be REQUIRED to purchase rental insurance in the country I’m renting in (Ireland) so the discount I received by using them was instantly deleted by having to pay an obscene amount for the required insurance. Again there was no mention of any requirements in any Expedia documents. Expedia is a scam. They flash discounts at you to get you to book with them but in my experience there is always a catch or something goes wrong and the trip becomes a nightmare.

On March 2, 2025 my son sent me his plans to be married in Vancouver on July 25, 2025. I began to plan the trip with my wife and daughter among other things by booking a car through Expedia on March 2, 2025 with Economy Car Rental in Richmond, BC. The price was competitive and although the car rental agency was not located at the airport, I was assured I would be shuttled to the office where the vehicle would be picked up. A week before my flight in July, I contacted Economy Car Rental and they again assured me that I could contact them from the airport and a shuttle would be sent to pick up my wife, my daughter and myself in a to bring us to the vehicle.
When we arrived at the airport and retrieved our luggage, I contacted Economy Car Rental agency by phone as I was instructed. The agent from Economy began to ask questions about my booking and acted like they had no record of my reservation, After many pauses and “holds” in the conversation they finally admitted to locating my booking. She then said they could send a shuttle to pick us up but it would cost me an extra $300.
I was beside myself and repeated to the agent my process of booking the reservation and their service, etc. and telling her that no mention of an extra fee for shuttle was ever mentioned to me. Alas this was to no avail. I realized that the original price of $538.07 for a week of car rental had been increased by $300. because of the additional cost of the shuttle service.
I decided to call Expedia for support. I wasn’t about to be scammed by the company for the extra fees. It was difficult to find a phone number for Expedia but when I did find it and called, the customer service agent told me that Expedia bore no responsibility for the car agency’s actions and there was nothing they could do about my dilemma.
Here we were in Vancouver airport in peak tourist season with no car rental. I called all the major car rental agencies and they were all out of vehicles. I finally was able to locate a small company near the airport called “Trust” and they provided me with a vehicle at a higher price but thank goodness we were able to obtain a vehicle.
I guess my bottom line is: Why even use Expedia if they can’t support their “service” they helped facilitate. Economy Car Rental agency took advantage of an off-season price agreement that was made in March to try and squeeze more money from a customer under false pretenses as they had me at an extreme disadvantage. You can imagine that this will be the last time I ever use either of Expedia or Economy Car Rental “services” in the future.

Though the hotel itself was excellent, Expedia’s payment process left much to be desired. After booking on July 10, 2025, and selecting the “pay at hotel” option, I entered my credit card details only to have that card declined at check-in on July 21. We switched to an alternate card for our week-long stay, but upon returning home our autopayments began failing and subscription services were canceled. A call to the credit card issuer revealed that Expedia had performed some kind of activity on our card, which the issuer flagged as suspicious and blocked it.
When I contacted Expedia, they insisted that only banks can block cards, yet my issuer traced the block directly to Expedia’s transaction flag. While I enjoyed the hotel, the lack of transparency in Expedia’s payment process caused unnecessary hassle. I urge Expedia to clarify what triggers card blocks, provide clear payment guidance, and improve communication with customers and issuing banks to prevent future disruptions. I purchased flight tickets to three different states to visit family for a total of 5 days. For the first state, I only needed a hotel room for 3 days/2 nights. The website autofills the hotel stay for you to match your flight length, and NOT the actual amount of time you'll be staying in one location, so the website autofilled to 5 days. The hotel room is nonrefundable. I understood this, no problem. I changed the dates to the correct length of stay and added my boyfriend that would be staying with me. When I finalized this purchase, the website autofilled the dates again, removed my boyfriend, and reverted my stay to 5 days, past the amount of time I would be staying within that one city, to match my flight dates. I understand this autofill function is meant to be helpful, however, in this scenario, this was a harmful change.
I communicated this to Expedia and through multiple rounds of customer service, have been informed that there's nothing they can do to change this purchase. The hotel will not communicate with me and informed me I have to make the change through Expedia. Expedia said the hotel won't budge on refunding the extra days. It doesn't make sense to book for that length of time when I clearly booked my flights first and knew how long I would be staying in each city. Customer service accused me of lying, however, again, it doesn't make sense that I would book a room for that extended amount of stay. The total price is alarmingly high. I strongly advise against booking flights with Expedia. In my experience, they do not provide the level of support you would expect from a reliable travel agency. I had to cancel a flight due to escalating conflict in the Middle East—specifically a route through Abu Dhabi. At the time, much of the regional airspace, including over Dubai and Qatar, was closed, and many airlines had canceled their flights. Unfortunately, Etihad did not cancel, which I consider irresponsible given the circumstances.
My top priority was safety, so I canceled and booked a new flight through a safer region. Since I purchased the original ticket through Expedia, I expected them to assist with the refund or resolution. Instead, Expedia referred me to the airline, and the airline referred me back to Expedia. Neither took responsibility. This was the day after Iran bombed a U.S. base in Qatar—clearly not a time to be flying through the region. Despite this, Expedia refused to consider the context and relied strictly on rigid policies that made no sense in this situation. If you value responsiveness and advocacy in a crisis, I recommend using a traditional travel agent. They will fight for you—Expedia won’t.

Expedia customer service and a supervisor named Luis literally told me unless I can find more and PROVE that it's an "infestation" they cannot do anything about it. Extremely Disappointed – Misleading Hotel Description on Expedia. I booked a bundle package through Expedia for a trip to Cancun from June 30 to July 5, which included round-trip flights from Chicago with Spirit Airlines and a hotel stay at Bsea Cancun Plaza Hotel. I chose Expedia because I trusted their reputation and the detailed descriptions and photos shown on their website. First, the flight experience was smooth and matched what was promised—no complaints there. However, the hotel experience was deeply disappointing and upsetting for both me and my wife.
The photos and descriptions on Expedia were completely misleading. The hotel room shown online looked clean, bright, and modern—with stylish furniture and a spacious layout. In reality, we were given a room directly under the roof with old, worn furniture, a metal bed box, completely rusty metal chairs, and a rusty iron curtain rod on the window. The room was extremely hot upon arrival, and the split AC unit took a long time to cool the space. The bathroom was unacceptable. Every time we used the shower, dirty water remained on the bathroom floor and began flowing toward the room corridor. The listing stated a "shower/tub combination," but there was no bathtub at all. The provided amenities were extremely minimal: one tiny shampoo, one thin sliver of soap, and one roll of toilet paper for two people. The entire room felt neglected and poorly maintained.
On top of the poor room conditions, the beach was also a letdown. The shore and water were filled with thick seaweed and plant matter, making it unappealing and uncomfortable for swimming. That might explain why very few people—mainly children—were even in the water. Despite Cancun’s reputation for beautiful beaches, this area was not clean or inviting. I chose this hotel based on affordability and the positive impression made by Expedia’s listing. But the actual conditions were far below what was advertised. Because we were in a different country and unfamiliar with the local culture and safety concerns—and because this trip was for medical treatment, not vacation—we stayed quiet during the trip and waited until returning to the U.S. to share our experience.
Expedia must do a better job verifying the accuracy of hotel listings, photos, and amenities. Travelers rely on this information, especially when booking in unfamiliar places. In our case, the trust we placed in Expedia was not rewarded. I’m giving Expedia 1 out of 5 stars and urge anyone booking a hotel through them to look for recent reviews and real photos from travelers before making a decision. This was a frustrating and disappointing experience that could have been avoided with more transparency and oversight.

Upon arrival at Priceless Car Rental in Tampa, we were told we owed an additional $351.66 in "mandatory insurance" and other surprise charges. Our personal insurance was not accepted despite being valid, and we were forced into overpriced coverage. Expedia has been slow to respond and has not taken responsibility for misleading terms or for vetting a clearly predatory vendor with a history of similar complaints. We spoke to several other customers who had the same experience. Beware of opaque Expedia deals — and avoid Priceless Car Rental at all costs.

I booked a trip through Expedia and had to change my travel date. Expedia promised that the new flight tickets would only be the difference in price between my original tickets and the cost of the new tickets. Because I booked through Expedia and not Delta Airlines in the first place, Delta charged my credit card for the entire cost of a new tickets. In Delta's eyes, I was simply purchasing a new ticket. Adding insult to injury, Expedia charged my card a mystery fee of $108 for the flight change. Of course, there is no legitimate Expedia customer service so trying to get a response from Expedia is impossible. Lesson: What looks like a bargain is a scam and a rip off - buyer beware and book directly through the airline/hotel/rental car company even if it's more expensive. Now, they refuse to rebook the flights in a package like it was initially booked because we cancelled the hotel, so now the trip will cost double the money. All they say is that is their policy. So I reached out to support thinking this would be a quick fix. Nope. What followed was a complete runaround. I was first connected to someone who claimed they couldn’t help me because they only handle Expedia US bookings, and I had to call another number for Expedia Canada. When I asked them to simply forward my information or connect me — they said they couldn’t even do that. No help. No solution. Just dumped the problem back on me.
I wasted hours on chat, was bounced between agents, and not one person took responsibility. No refund. No resolution. No confirmation that my seat or baggage fees were carried over to the airline. We needed assistance to determine how we could rebook airport/hotel transfers but there was no method to call an actual agent at the time. We ended up being directed to a cab and scammed out of a double fare.
The hotel had no stake in worrying about transfers though this was promised as part of the property description. Expedia appears to be a SCAM at this point. I've booked with them recently in (January 2025)- no issue and also I've booked with them in previous years. This time around 6/10/2025 and today 6/13/2025, I've discovered them to be fraudulent. I booked a hotel package (flight included) in April 2025. On 6/10, I received an email stating that Expedia canceled my flight -- no explanation. I called them to get clarity. I never received a clear answer. In fact, my question was ignored and the staff there love to say "no worries, we'll book you another flight" -- this time with a different airline and departure location. I wanted to keep DCA, but they said there weren't anymore and only BWI was available (I later saw PLENTY of flights leaving from DCA to my destination- strike 1 🚩🚩🚩). I wasn't happy but I said okay. And they told me that I would get a refund to make up the price difference.
Today 6/13 I recieved an email stating that my room was canceled for that same trip. I'm like.. Okay, what is going on?!??! I called Expedia. They told me the hotel AND FLIGHT is non existent. And that the flight is on a waiting list. I'm like, what are you talking about?? Again, I received, "no worries".. Blah, blah. I expressed my frustration and the man connected me with his supervisor. I asked why was my hotel canceled and now flight-- yet, again.
The man NEVER gave me a reason why the flight was canceled. He literally ignored my question and proceeded to speak over top of me saying that he was going to find another flight and another hotel. I asked why was the room canceled. He ignored me.. After I asked about the 5th time, he says the room is chose is having maintenance done on it. 😐🚩🚩🚩. He then says, just pay $3,000 and I can book you now for this price. I told him "No." I'm still waiting on my 1st refund from you all on Monday. The man hung up the phone. I called my bank- it's a SCAM! I will never use them again.

After returning to the chat the agent told me to call the hotel and I should be able to cancel since I was paying at the property. When I called the hotel they informed me they could cancel the room without any fees but they needed Expedia to call. Each time I called Expedia to explain to them what I needed, the representatives would hang up on me.
After speaking to 5 different reps, one finally looked up my information and said that Expedia would have to charge me $159 to cancel reservation; he seem to be upset with me for trying to cancel, I asked him if he could pull up the chat where the representative said that I could call and speak directly to the hotel. Expedia will never do another booking for me, they are rude, hard to understand and everyone you speak to will tell you something different go get you off of the phone. The representative told me that I was the one who made the reservation and it was up to me to look over the policies before booking; I wasn’t upset, I was trying to understand why I read that it was up to the hotel to decide if I had cancellation fees and I spoke to the hotel, they waived all fees although Expedia was trying to charge $159….sounds crooked to me.

I rented a car with Sixt through Expedia. I had paid the full base cost of the rental up front to Expedia. However Sixt had a higher base rental cost and charged me the difference. I complained to both companies and neither company would acknowledge this issue and neither had any evidence to justify this extra cost. I don't if this is scam of Sixt, of Expedia, or collusion between the two companies but I would highly advise against renting a car from this company or through Expedia. I also had a terrible pick up experience. The agents rush you through the process, try to push their very expensive insurance even when you have insurance, and do not cover the details of the rental. They do not review damages on the vehicle or provide you with a summary of existing damages when renting.
This is entirely up to you to know that you should document any damages on your vehicle. I thankfully knew to do this. However unsuspecting customers could be tricked into not knowing that they should do this. The agents do not review and do not give customers opportunity review their rental policy including the terms and conditions which allow them to charge very high administrative fees for any small issue at return. I will never rent from this company or use Expedia for any travel purpose in the future.

They sent out the wrong information and customer service wanted 9000$ to fix a 2500$ booking that they put the wrong names and times on. They stated the system is automated and if the system made a mistake which it clearly did because I cannot get on the plane or resolve the non refundable error with the airlines, there's nothing they can do but upgrade our package for 9000$ and give us travel vouchers. This company is a scam. Hotels.com I've never had a problem with, expedia just stole our money. I used Expedia’s service for the first time to reserve rooms at the Waldorf hotel in Rome Italy. Their site guarantees a refund as long as you cancel 24 hours before the actual date and you will NOT be charged until then. The trip was 5 months away. I reviewed my bank card account the next day and noticed they charged my card $1600.00. I canceled the trip three weeks later due to unexpected health reasons. When I contacted them for a refund. That’s when the dodging and lying about their own policy and poor customer service kicked in. Count the lies.
1. They made several attempts over several days to contact the manager at the hotel and they were able to. 2. The hotel in question does not allow refunds. I then contacted the hotel in Waldorf Hotel in Rome Italy via email and the manager responded in 24 hours assuring me they have no such policy and Expedia has not contacted them to cancel my reservation as it is still showing on their books. I sent the Hotel Manager’s email to Expedia customer service as they requested it after I told them I received the hotel’s email.
Here was Expedia’s response. 1. Our team is working to refund your money. It will take 72 hours. (After the 72 hours) 2. We have tried multiple times to contact the Hotel Management. This went on for weeks. I pointed out to Expedia that I’ve sent what they asked for, and said they shouldn’t have charged my card in the first place. Even if they did, there advertisement guarantees a FULL REFUND if canceled the day before check in at the hotel. They responded telling me not to get frustrated as this back and forth went on for three weeks. In the end, I’ve heard nothing in the last month. They stopped emailing their answer. They HUSTLE $1600.00 out of me on me and my wife’s planned 51st anniversary with a trip to Europe. NEVER USE THEM!

Expedia did not honor good customer service and I will never use them again. Had a situation where my wife and I flew from Dallas to Miami for a 1-night booking at TB Hotel Miami which is advertise on the Expedia site. I booked this hotel in February for one night, so that we could be there for the next day for a 7 day cruise in April. Wife and I are senior citizens on a fixed income and save up for this vacation for over a year. We get to airport to catch cab to the hotel and attendant, nor the cab driver had never heard of this hotel. Showed them the picture and address and cab driver proceeded to the address that was listed and advertised on the Expedia website and booked in February. Address did not exist, cab drove up and down the street listed, address did not exist.
Call the TB Hotel Miami 4 times with no answer and left 4 vm messages. Continue searching in cab and waiting on callback from vm left and after 25 minutes no one called back and cab fare was mounting. Call Expedia and they advise I get another hotel, but because of the time of day, all hotels were booked except only one left. We had to book the only hotel available which was a Holiday Inn express for 295$ for one night. Contacted Expedia after cruise and provided a detail information of the horrific events we went through. Spoke to one supervisor Flora and she read thru info and advised that I send the receipt in for the Holiday Inn and they will reimburse because of the misinformation with the TB Hotel Miami which they advertise.
I waited until I received the receipt and forwarded to Expedia as asked to do. After 3 weeks of getting the runaround, called and spoke to another supervisor Jonathan ** and at that time he advised that they not honor the receipt. This is after 3+ weeks of sending information and communicating that they will honor due to the circumstances which they verified. This is an injustice to a longtime Expedia customer who I've been in good standards. Sent in all the proof and went thru all the emails, paperwork and follow up and then Expedia told me after all of this, that they would not honor. I rented a full size SUV through Expedia. When we arrived we communicated we only wanted basic coverage and we’d pay for gas upfront, the person who was selling us tried upcharging us at every step and added coverages we didn’t agree to nor did we want. We had booked through Expedia so thought everything was set up already and showed what we wanted for our rental. Our bill when leaving was $955 which we thought was in CAD which was still high but though maybe with the gas and another hidden charge could be what we ended up paying, we were excited to start the trip for my Bachelor Party and didn’t think we would have someone try and take advantage or up charge us especially on a Prebooked rental.
We called in immediately to Expedia as soon as we saw the charge was $1358CAD!!!! Almost DOUBLE what we were expecting to pay. When we called in Expedia and Hertz have done nothing saying we agreed to charges and packages even though they weren’t communicated to us. We didn’t expect to have a slimy salesman add charges to our rental that were neither communicated or agreed to beyond signing our rental documents. Lesson learned! Thought we could live in a world where what we say we want when booking online would be what we’d be charged when we go to pick up the rental and interact with people looking out for our interests but NO!
If I won’t be treated like a decent human whose interest or being considered the sales peoples at companies don’t deserve to be treated that way either. They deserve to be treated with mistrust, and severity where everything will be checked over. I will speak to you not with kindness but will with unkindness, skepticism and shortness. When I am not treated as anything more than a “customer” (read someone to get money from) you will not be treated as anything more than a greedy salesman or spokesman for a company.
I do not recommend people using Expedia. It’s a useless service. The prices they show them you book something are not followed by the companies and will do nothing about this. My wife and I travel frequently, have been in much of Europe and rented vehicles in countries including England, France, Ireland, Scotland, Spain, and Switzerland, and have never experienced this amount of issues with one car rental agency. We rented a car in April 2025 from Green Motion / Waverly Station and experienced the following issues:
Doubled charged for insurance that they refused to make a claim on, or reduce the duplicate charge
Left with no petrol, but charged for a full tank and had to fill it in between
The mileage is what started me thinking. Other family members were traveling with my wife and I, going to the same places. Their mileage from EDI was only 312. Somehow our mileage from Edinburgh Waverly was 645, yet we were together, with exception sleeping in separate locations that were close by. Looking at how GM practices, it appears something illegal is going on with their location. While I admit I signed the documents, normally I can trust a car rental to at least log the correct starting information. They neither showed me that there was a full tank of gas or the starting mileage, nor did they show me the ending mileage.
As business owner, I have performed forensic evaluations of other organizations. GM behavior/practices are suspect, and I strongly believe that if an audit were performed on the documentation of their office, it would reveal some actual crimes, and a number of them. Given the way I was handled and the number of issues I've had with this one rental, this appears to be a "global" situation, meaning that numerous customers probably have the same or similar what appear to be fraudulent overcharges, especially tourists who have little recourse. A quick search of the internet reveals that GM has been following these types of practices, shame on me perhaps, but that's when I'm thinking that Expedia apparently does not vet their vendors or keep track of them. If Expedia properly vetted their vendors, this wouldn't have happened.

I requested a first-floor room and got stuck on the 4th floor. The room was muggy, the shower was peeling, and the fridge wasn’t even cold — the bare minimum wasn’t even met.
Then, not even 30 minutes after arriving, someone from the front desk banged on our door at 1 a.m., waking up my mother and rudely saying, “People all over are making noise complaints about you guys.” We were just getting settled — the TV was on volume 6, and I was pulling out the sofa bed. My kids had just woken up from a long nap in the car. There was no phone call, no polite approach — just instant attitude like we were a problem.

That was all bad enough however, upon preparing to fly back days later, we get a notice that our, previously paid for, return flight has been canceled since we didn’t make the first leg of it, what?? There was no previous communication to us on this matter. It has been explained since that this policy is found in the contract (aka: fine print) whatever! So we end up booking a 4 hr train for another $300 to avoid the $800 flight repeat. And our prior $400 charge with Expedia was never used but fattened their bottom line.
We called Expedia, and Swiss Air, numerous times to remedy this but to no avail. All they could do is point fingers at each other playing the blame game. In fact, it was explained to us that “the Expedia App canceled the return flight but that it wasn’t done by Expedia,” huh? I was calling their customer service in India, very rude, disrespectful, and it was obvious he was going to rip me off because I'm a American. I asked to speak with a supervisor, but he hung up on me!!

I rented a car through Expedia from FOX Car Rental with a scheduled pick-up time of 11 PM in San Antonio. However, my flight got delayed, and my new arrival time was 2:30 AM. I called FOX in advance to inform them about the delay, but they told me they would be closed at that time. I agreed to come back when they reopened at 8 AM, but they refused to save my car, despite the fact that I had already paid in full nearly a month in advance. When I asked for a refund, they refused, citing their "no refund" policy for no-shows, even though I had communicated my situation well in advance. They told me to reach out to Expedia, which was just as unhelpful. Expedia essentially washed their hands of the situation, saying it was FOX's decision and that there was nothing they could do.
How is it fair that I paid for the car in full and was then denied it just because my flight was delayed—Something entirely out of my control? FOX could’ve easily saved my car for me, but chose not to, and Expedia didn’t take any responsibility either. It was an absolute nightmare, and I will never be renting from FOX or using Expedia again. Buyer beware!

I had to cancel a trip that I had planned September of 2024 and was entitled to a flight credit of just over $1000 from Air Canada. I had just recently re-booked a trip to use the flight credit and I was told there was one ticket left for the dates that I wanted to travel. The price of the flight return was less than my actual credit however I still had to pay an extra $230.00. I paid the extra $230.00 and was or I thought had my flight booked. As I was double billed the amount of $230.00 I phoned again to ask about the $230.00 transaction fee that was billed to my credit card twice.
When speaking to this agent I am informed that the booked trip cost me an extra $230.00 for a standby ticket. Again I was sent a confirmation of my booked flight which was not actually a confirmed booking. Make matters even more frustrating this agent notifies me that I have to pay an additional $599.00 to confirm my booking for the same flight. When all said and done I have only received just under $200 of my flight credit that was over $1000.

The hotel was under construction. The people who manage the hotel was very hateful when we checked in when we said something about the hotel being under construction.
When we got to our room it was not really clean. It was okay but during our five nights there we experienced more problems. We experience the towels will be were stained. Really disgusting. No one had cleaned our room. We even had to go to the front desk for more towels. The TV would not work every single night. We had to contact the front desk in order to get somebody to come and reset the TV. We asked for assistance with Expedia and they did nothing. I feel like when advertising a hotel on your website you should honor what you put on there and they done nothing to help the situation. A member of my family recently booked an international flight and return via Expedia. They paid $200 extra for Trip Protection Plus. Everything was well until they had to change the return leg of their planned trip by a few days. Expedia wanted almost $1000 for the change despite the fact that Trip Protection Plus was in effect. - My advice: 1st - Avoid Expedia at all costs. 2nd - Don't pay extra for Trip Protection Plus.... All it does is add the following two worthless lines to your trip verification - "Breath easy! Your trip is protected." & "You've added Trip Protection Plus to your trip." - We will never use Expedia again and advise all others to avoid them as well.

On Mar. 7 I reserved a hotel room. On March 9th I needed to change the dates on my reservation. I attempted to do so through Expedia. Expedia couldn't find my reservation through the itinerary number they gave me. I tried by e-mail, name, and finally phone number, with the same result. They kept giving me my past reservations instead. I figured that they lost my reservation somehow. I booked through another service and a different hotel. I couldn't make changes or cancel through Expedia because they didn't have my reservation.
I called the hotel and they did have a reservation under my name, but to make changes I would have to go through Expedia to make the change. I told the hotel to cancel my reservation. Later that day, I got confirmation from Expedia for the same as the original reservation, but with a different itinerary number. I have been trying to contact Expedia, but they will not respond. There is no chance for a refund, so they have robbed me. I have copies of the original, the second from Expedia and finally the results of my bookings and lo and behold. The later has the original itinerary number. They have stolen my money.

The flight travel destination was changed without my consent! Just a friendly piece of advice: don’t ever book with Expedia just because you think it’s a little cheaper than booking directly with the airlines. You could end up losing even more money with this company. We booked two round-trip tickets a couple of months ago for a European destination on a flight operated by two partner airlines. Yesterday, I received an email from the airline, which I only checked today, stating that my booking had been changed to a different destination in another city, in another country, on the other side of the continent. I called Expedia right away and was told that the airlines had altered my initial reservation and made that change to a completely different destination.
To keep my original destination, I had to cancel the reservation for the wrong destination and rebook the same flight that I initially reserved and paid for, but this time at a much higher price. The other option was to cancel the newly booked flight to the wrong city in the wrong country and pay a cancellation fee equivalent to the price of one ticket.
I called both airlines, and they said that the change was made by the booking agency, sending me back to Expedia. I used to book with Expedia for many years, as did many of my friends. Unfortunately, lately, it seems the company has started to scam its customers, and I am very disappointed that a company that used to be so helpful, reliable, and transparent in the past is now heading quickly towards bankruptcy.

I gave them the allotted time and when I didn't see a partial refund hit my credit card I contacted Expedia. Be wary of their flight and accommodations package. After going thru their website to set my flight plans I proceeded to book the hotel stay for those dates. After carefully reviewing the price and dates I completed my booking. My reservation was confirmed but with only the accommodations only. There was a big nonrefundable policy which I was willing to accept but without the flight my package rate was more than if I had booked separately. I lost $660 even with my CC dispute. I felt Expedia should not allow a hotel vendor to operate in this capacity and that they should protect their customers from fraudulent vendors. DO not book with Global Luxury Suites at Capitol Hill,1005 First Street NE, Washington, DC, 20002 United States of America. They have a nonrefundable policy which I believe misleading.

Be careful, check everything when you make a reservation. I checked my reservation and it did say, that hotel cancellation is free. Unfortunately, my partner got sick and I had to cancel the reservation, I cancelled the hotel and call the Expedia to verify what I need to do with the flight. I was told that for me to receive my money back I had to pay $499.00 cancelation fees for each traveler, which happened to be much more than flight reservation. The customer service Chelsea told me that I will receive the full amount I paid and she confirmed it via email. I did pay extra $998.96 to receive $770.00, then they withheld another $400.00, they told me that were taxes and they are not refundable. So even though they sent me an email, saying they will give me full refund, they still withheld money besides $998.96 I paid for cancelation. Be aware of the fraud, if I did not call them, I would have lost only $770.00, because I called them, I had to pay $1400.00.

I booked through Expedia for an SUV from Routes Car Rental at Calgary airport. When I arrived, they gave me an SUV that was about 10" shorter than the one I had booked so it was a bit tricky to fit our skis, snowboard and two large suitcases in it. However, since our flight had been delayed and the Routes staff were friendly and actually stayed past closing time to set me up, I just took the SUV they gave me.
I had pre-paid Expedia $177.40. Routes claimed the SUV they gave me was "similar" but the receipt they printed came to a total of $140.79. I don't know if it was cheaper because it was smaller, or less fancy or their rates fluctuate but I figured I would get a credit on my VISA because according to their paperwork, the SUV I got would have been $140.79 if I had not pre-paid for it.
I contacted Expedia and they got back to me, saying that they had contacted Routes who said no refund would be coming. I contacted Expedia back and explained that they had an obligation to tell Routes to provide the refund or that they should provide it to me directly. They told me to contact Routes directly. So apparently I work in the rental car business now because I am doing their job and wondering why I bothered dealing with Expedia at all. I contacted Routes who said I need to contact Expedia since they were my primary point of contact. So for the third time, I contact Expedia who replied back that there is nothing they can do.
It seems obvious that a customer should not have to pay more than the going rate simply because Expedia got the money in advance. It is pretty standard that when you buy something and the price drops before you pick it up, you get the lower price. This tells me that Expedia is a joke because they don't have the stones to tell their providers to send a refund and/or think it's okay when their providers switch a reservation and provide a lower priced vehicle but keep the extra money I pre-paid for the vehicle I didn't get. The only other thing I can come up with to explain this is that maybe Expedia routinely charges 26% commission to book a car rental. Next time I will just go directly to a car rental site and save the $36.
I have no idea whether Expedia or Routes pocketed the extra $36.61 but I will not be using either company again in the future if I can help it. I'm astounded that Expedia would not just resolve the issue directly. Then to have both companies tell me to talk to the other one? I feel that at least one of them is lying to me and/or at least one of them is incompetent. Expedia's site says "...We’re here to build great products, and facilitate connections between travelers and our partners that truly bring good into the world." I would just say that they are extremely unprofessional and recommend you avoid using their services.

Beware of booking with Expedia—they’ll treat you like dirt and leave you stranded! I booked a round-trip flight from Seattle to Phoenix for March 7-10, 2025, back in October 2024 through Expedia. Everything seemed fine until one traveler couldn’t go, and I contacted their online customer service on March 6, 2025, to cancel just her portion and get a credit from the airline. I explicitly told the agent not to touch the other travelers’ bookings. What did Expedia do? Within an hour, they canceled my entire itinerary without my permission!
Furious, I started another chat with a different agent, who had the nerve to ask for my credit card to “rebook” it—like I’d trust them again after their colossal screw-up! I refused, since this was 100% Expedia’s mistake, and called their customer service instead. The phone agent promised he could restore my booking without needing my card. Sounded good, right? Wrong. Without my knowledge or consent, he charged $926 to the card Expedia had on file! I got a “card not present” alert from my bank and couldn’t believe Expedia had the audacity to do this behind my back.
The nightmare didn’t end there. They managed to restore my Seattle-to-Phoenix flight on March 7, but I lost my carefully chosen seats and got stuck in the last row. Even worse? They didn’t bother rebooking my return flight from Phoenix to Seattle! I was left high and dry. I spent hours on the phone with multiple Expedia supervisors, who fed me a ridiculous story about needing to pay an extra $600 to rebook my return flight. They claimed they paid it, only for the airline to cancel it again, and then had the gall to say, “Well, we both lost $600, so we’re even.” Are you kidding me? I called the airline myself—they confirmed Expedia never even tried to rebook anything after their initial cancellation on March 6. Expedia flat-out lied to me.
After wasting over 10 hours on the phone with their incompetent, untrustworthy customer service, I’m still fighting to get my money back. Expedia doesn’t care about its customers—they’ll butcher your plans, charge you without consent, and leave you to clean up their mess. Save yourself the headache and stay far away from Expedia. Book directly with airlines or use a company that actually values you!
