Booked a hotel room from Expedia using my Navy Federal account. I was in a car accident tried to cancel room the day before. I chatted with an agent and I was told that they would call the hotel to see if they could cancel. After returning to the chat the agent told me to call the hotel and I should be able to cancel since I was paying at the property. When I called the hotel they informed me they could cancel the room without any fees but they needed Expedia to call. Each time I called Expedia to explain to them what I needed, the representatives would hang up on me.

After speaking to 5 different reps, one finally looked up my information and said that Expedia would have to charge me $159 to cancel reservation; he seem to be upset with me for trying to cancel, I asked him if he could pull up the chat where the representative said that I could call and speak directly to the hotel. Expedia will never do another booking for me, they are rude, hard to understand and everyone you speak to will tell you something different go get you off of the phone. The representative told me that I was the one who made the reservation and it was up to me to look over the policies before booking; I wasn’t upset, I was trying to understand why I read that it was up to the hotel to decide if I had cancellation fees and I spoke to the hotel, they waived all fees although Expedia was trying to charge $159….sounds crooked to me.

I checked my travel package to Banff. I booked a month ago and it dropped in price by $820.00. Called Expedia Packages. They can only help with hotel cancellation. They do not offer price guarantee. Do not book through Expedia packages as this is a rip off. You think that you are planning one stop package but turns out if you have to cancel (purchased cancellation fee for over $300) on your own with each individual airlines. If you get the approval from 3rd party cancellation fee, that is. Never again, I will make sure to tell all my friends this is how they get you...not cool.

Do NOT book anything with Expedia.com! This is not a trustworthy company! In 2024, I booked a JetBlue flight with them and on the day of the trip, JetBlue canceled the flight due to weather. Expedia.com didn't want to give me refund but gave me a credit voucher of $163 that expires 8/3/25. They want to charge me $100 fee to use my credit of $163 and I must finished traveling by 8/3/25! They said it is JetBlue policies! I called up JetBlue and they said that is not true. JetBlue pointed me to their public website that clearly states that I can travel ANY TIME up to a year as long as I book the flight by 8/3/25 and there is NO FEE to use my credit of $163.

I told Expedia.com representative what JetBlue said and suddenly, there is no fee! They still insisted that I must travel by 8/3/25. So, I gave them a June travel date and they pretend to help me book a flight using my credit but, put me on hold and then hang up on me! I called 3 times...spoke to 3 different representatives (Amanda, Nicola, and May)...all with Indian accents. All sounded very nice but, at the end, the phone call is hung up. No one calls me back even though at the beginning of the call, they ask for my phone # so that they can call me back if we get disconnected! I called it bad luck to use this company and a loss of $163. NEVER again will I deal with this company. Be WARNED. DON'T do business with this company!

I contacted Expedia for help with a hotel cancellation. I spoke to three different agents about this. The second agent told me they would refund me for the cancellation, which the hotel had authorized. I made this cancellation 20 minutes after I booked it, and they told me they couldn't do it. I called the hotel, and they told me Expedia was responsible for the charge, not them. Ultimately, neither the hotel nor Expedia could help me with the reimbursement, and I lost my money. I'm not sure I'll use Expedia again.

I’m leaving a one star review because I couldn’t leave a zero star review. We used Expedia to book a two person all inclusive package but somewhere along their booking process, it got switched to an all inclusive for one and only flights for the other - despite being charged for two all inclusive packages. Expedia wouldn’t help claiming we’d wanted that. In what world does it happen that people pay for an all inclusive when they just want a flight? The hotel couldn’t do anything because Expedia hadn’t paid them for two people. It was a terrible experience as we tried Expedia and couldn’t talk to a person and when we did were told different messages and bounced from one person to the next. This all occurred while we were on vacation over two or three days. We finally ended up paying for the second person and enjoying our vacation despite Expedia. They are terrible. Never use them.

It was supposed to be a wonderful graduation for my nephew as well all went to Baltimore to celebrate. Upon arrival to the hotel listed on Expedia as being 4.5 stars, we found a subpar hotel with very poor customer service, roaches, a non-operational pool, and no breakfast which we had paid for through Expedia. When we contacted the corporate office of the hotel, we were told we would be contacted within 48 hours. 3 days later we still had not received any response of our concerns from the hotel. The entire time we were there, breakfast was not provided except for a cleaning lady who was asked to cook and handed me some half-cooked bacon with her hand! Yes, you heard that correctly...her gloved hand, not a plate, not tongs. Upon reaching out to the hotel, we were told there was nothing they could do for us because it was prepaid on Expedia. Between the two rooms we paid more than $1500 for a 4 night stay. When I say I will NEVER use Expedia or trust their reviews again. I mean that literally. This experience turned a time of anticipation and joy into a stressful and uncomfortable time.

Not to mention you have to go through the mill to attempt extending your stay. To extend your stay with any kinda ease you have to make a new reservation for the next week leaving you with 4 hours from your original check out and your next check in not to mention you run the risk of having to change rooms as well.

Expedia blames me for not paying through them (didn’t show up as an option) and they blame Avis for not updating their rates. Avis blames the airport because it’s an independent contractor. The airport blames Expedia for using the wrong rates. So it’s been a constant vicious cycle. Contacting Expedia was a nightmare. They hung up on me several times. I couldn’t finish explaining the issue before I was interrupted and told to call the airport. I finally spent 40 minutes on the phone with an agent and ended up with the same answer - call Avis. I called a number online thinking it was a hotel line and there was a flag I ignored when I asked if they were the actual hotel and they assured me they were. They were dishonest. They quoted me three different prices within a matter of half an hour (they got disconnected after the first call and said things change minute to minute) and ended up charging me in US dollars further increasing the price. I paid just over 1/3 what I should have for the room and they didn’t send the receipt like they said they would.

When I tried to hunt down the receipt they were not helpful and really were not concerned about the poor service or dishonesty. I eventually was able to get someone to send the receipt and it was in Mexican Pesos. When I inquired about this, they said this was because I had a Mexican account haha which was absolutely not true. This is just one of many issues I had in this booking. I don't if this is scam of Sixt, of Expedia, or collusion between the two companies but I would highly advise against renting a car from this company or through Expedia. I also had a terrible pick up experience. The agents rush you through the process, try to push their very expensive insurance even when you have insurance, and do not cover the details of the rental. They do not review damages on the vehicle or provide you with a summary of existing damages when renting.

This is entirely up to you to know that you should document any damages on your vehicle. I thankfully knew to do this. However unsuspecting customers could be tricked into not knowing that they should do this. The agents do not review and do not give customers opportunity review their rental policy including the terms and conditions which allow them to charge very high administrative fees for any small issue at return. Despite clear evidence of received emails and phone calls, the hotel claims otherwise, causing a repetitive and distressing cycle. Horrible experience. And was unable to get refund,

Expedia did not honor good customer service and I will never use them again. Had a situation where my wife and I flew from Dallas to Miami for a 1-night booking at TB Hotel Miami which is advertise on the Expedia site. I booked this hotel in February for one night, so that we could be there for the next day for a 7 day cruise in April. Wife and I are senior citizens on a fixed income and save up for this vacation for over a year. We get to airport to catch cab to the hotel and attendant, nor the cab driver had never heard of this hotel. Showed them the picture and address and cab driver proceeded to the address that was listed and advertised on the Expedia website and booked in February. Address did not exist, cab drove up and down the street listed, address did not exist.

Call the TB Hotel Miami 4 times with no answer and left 4 vm messages. Continue searching in cab and waiting on callback from vm left and after 25 minutes no one called back and cab fare was mounting. Call Expedia and they advise I get another hotel, but because of the time of day, all hotels were booked except only one left. We had to book the only hotel available which was a Holiday Inn express for 295$ for one night. Contacted Expedia after cruise and provided a detail information of the horrific events we went through. Spoke to one supervisor Flora and she read thru info and advised that I send the receipt in for the Holiday Inn and they will reimburse because of the misinformation with the TB Hotel Miami which they advertise.

I waited until I received the receipt and forwarded to Expedia as asked to do. After 3 weeks of getting the runaround, called and spoke to another supervisor Jonathan ** and at that time he advised that they not honor the receipt. This is after 3+ weeks of sending information and communicating that they will honor due to the circumstances which they verified. This is an injustice to a longtime Expedia customer who I've been in good standards. Sent in all the proof and went thru all the emails, paperwork and follow up and then Expedia told me after all of this, that they would not honor. This issue ruined our start to a vacation that we planned for over a year and Expedia did not have any empathy .. Will never use them again!!

I rented a full size SUV through Expedia. When we arrived we communicated we only wanted basic coverage and we’d pay for gas upfront, the person who was selling us tried upcharging us at every step and added coverages we didn’t agree to nor did we want. We had booked through Expedia so thought everything was set up already and showed what we wanted for our rental. Our bill when leaving was $955 which we thought was in CAD which was still high but though maybe with the gas and another hidden charge could be what we ended up paying, we were excited to start the trip for my Bachelor Party and didn’t think we would have someone try and take advantage or up charge us especially on a Prebooked rental.

We called in immediately to Expedia as soon as we saw the charge was $1358CAD!!!! Almost DOUBLE what we were expecting to pay. When we called in Expedia and Hertz have done nothing saying we agreed to charges and packages even though they weren’t communicated to us. We didn’t expect to have a slimy salesman add charges to our rental that were neither communicated or agreed to beyond signing our rental documents. Lesson learned! Thought we could live in a world where what we say we want when booking online would be what we’d be charged when we go to pick up the rental and interact with people looking out for our interests but NO!

If I won’t be treated like a decent human whose interest or being considered the sales peoples at companies don’t deserve to be treated that way either. They deserve to be treated with mistrust, and severity where everything will be checked over. I will speak to you not with kindness but will with unkindness, skepticism and shortness. When I am not treated as anything more than a “customer” (read someone to get money from) you will not be treated as anything more than a greedy salesman or spokesman for a company.

I do not recommend people using Expedia. It’s a useless service. The prices they show them you book something are not followed by the companies and will do nothing about this. I’d recommend booking directly through the companies and then you know what you're dealing with Expedia is of no support when it comes to this and their prices mean nothing.

My wife and I travel frequently, have been in much of Europe and rented vehicles in countries including England, France, Ireland, Scotland, Spain, and Switzerland, and have never experienced this amount of issues with one car rental agency. We rented a car in April 2025 from Green Motion / Waverly Station and experienced the following issues:

No mileage going out with the total mileage being MUCH more than we could have driven
Doubled charged for insurance that they refused to make a claim on, or reduce the duplicate charge

Left with no petrol, but charged for a full tank and had to fill it in between

The mileage is what started me thinking. Other family members were traveling with my wife and I, going to the same places. Their mileage from EDI was only 312. Somehow our mileage from Edinburgh Waverly was 645, yet we were together, with exception sleeping in separate locations that were close by. Looking at how GM practices, it appears something illegal is going on with their location. While I admit I signed the documents, normally I can trust a car rental to at least log the correct starting information. They neither showed me that there was a full tank of gas or the starting mileage, nor did they show me the ending mileage.

As business owner, I have performed forensic evaluations of other organizations. GM behavior/practices are suspect, and I strongly believe that if an audit were performed on the documentation of their office, it would reveal some actual crimes, and a number of them. Given the way I was handled and the number of issues I've had with this one rental, this appears to be a "global" situation, meaning that numerous customers probably have the same or similar what appear to be fraudulent overcharges, especially tourists who have little recourse. A quick search of the internet reveals that GM has been following these types of practices, shame on me perhaps, but that's when I'm thinking that Expedia apparently does not vet their vendors or keep track of them. If Expedia properly vetted their vendors, this wouldn't have happened.

One of my friends burst an eardrum two days prior to trip and could not fly. I had to cancel. We were ready to lose the money for this person cancelling so close to trip. When asked they told me that because it was medical I would get some money back.

Even with that, it has been a week and I still do not have the resort refund they claimed I would get back. Then they told me I would have a rebooking fee - I thought when they said 1787 they meant like $17.87, nope, they meant $1787 - I supposedly will get $3900 back in a refund, but it cost me $4900 to "rebook". So it is like the three of us had to pay two times. Losing what we paid we were ready for, but not having to repay for something we already paid for. Plus, as stated, I still have not seen the full $3900 back, I have only gotten back airline costs, so still waiting for $2000. In the end, I could have taken a much better trip for what Expedia cost me. I will never use them again.

Between the hotel and Expedia, this whole experience was a mess from start to finish. I paid $863 for three nights at the Fairfield by Marriott near Mohegan Sun while traveling for work, and brought my family along for spring break. I requested a first-floor room and got stuck on the 4th floor. The room was muggy, the shower was peeling, and the fridge wasn’t even cold — the bare minimum wasn’t even met.

Then, not even 30 minutes after arriving, someone from the front desk banged on our door at 1 a.m., waking up my mother and rudely saying, “People all over are making noise complaints about you guys.” We were just getting settled — the TV was on volume 6, and I was pulling out the sofa bed. My kids had just woken up from a long nap in the car. There was no phone call, no polite approach — just instant attitude like we were a problem.

And to top it off, Expedia has been useless in helping me address any of this. No support, no resolution — just pass-the-buck behavior from both sides. I’ve stayed at many Marriott properties and used Expedia plenty of times — but after this experience, I’m seriously reconsidering both. We ended up buying a one way flight for later that night, direct with Air France for nearly $800! As we had other bookings to get to, also & unfortunately made thru Expedia. That was all bad enough however, upon preparing to fly back days later, we get a notice that our, previously paid for, return flight has been canceled since we didn’t make the first leg of it, what?? There was no previous communication to us on this matter. It has been explained since that this policy is found in the contract (aka: fine print) whatever! So we end up booking a 4 hr train for another $300 to avoid the $800 flight repeat. And our prior $400 charge with Expedia was never used but fattened their bottom line.

We called Expedia, and Swiss Air, numerous times to remedy this but to no avail. All they could do is point fingers at each other playing the blame game. In fact, it was explained to us that “the Expedia App canceled the return flight but that it wasn’t done by Expedia,” huh? This one is ultimately on Expedia, our trusted “travel agent.” Shame on them for this poor business practice and total disregard for supporting a Silver level, repeat customer for years. So what should have been $400 cost us $1500. Bravo Expedia!! Now to get this word out on numerous platforms to warn others.

I rented a car through Expedia from FOX Car Rental with a scheduled pick-up time of 11 PM in San Antonio. However, my flight got delayed, and my new arrival time was 2:30 AM. I called FOX in advance to inform them about the delay, but they told me they would be closed at that time. I agreed to come back when they reopened at 8 AM, but they refused to save my car, despite the fact that I had already paid in full nearly a month in advance. When I asked for a refund, they refused, citing their "no refund" policy for no-shows, even though I had communicated my situation well in advance. They told me to reach out to Expedia, which was just as unhelpful. Expedia essentially washed their hands of the situation, saying it was FOX's decision and that there was nothing they could do.

How is it fair that I paid for the car in full and was then denied it just because my flight was delayed—Something entirely out of my control? FOX could’ve easily saved my car for me, but chose not to, and Expedia didn’t take any responsibility either. It was an absolute nightmare, and I will never be renting from FOX or using Expedia again. Buyer beware!

I had to cancel a trip that I had planned September of 2024 and was entitled to a flight credit of just over $1000 from Air Canada. I had just recently re-booked a trip to use the flight credit and I was told there was one ticket left for the dates that I wanted to travel. The price of the flight return was less than my actual credit however I still had to pay an extra $230.00. I paid the extra $230.00 and was or I thought had my flight booked. As I was double billed the amount of $230.00 I phoned again to ask about the $230.00 transaction fee that was billed to my credit card twice.

When speaking to this agent I am informed that the booked trip cost me an extra $230.00 for a standby ticket. Again I was sent a confirmation of my booked flight which was not actually a confirmed booking. Make matters even more frustrating this agent notifies me that I have to pay an additional $599.00 to confirm my booking for the same flight. When all said and done I have only received just under $200 of my flight credit that was over $1000.

The hotel was under construction. The people who manage the hotel was very hateful when we checked in when we said something about the hotel being under construction.

When we got to our room it was not really clean. It was okay but during our five nights there we experienced more problems. We experience the towels will be were stained. Really disgusting. No one had cleaned our room. We even had to go to the front desk for more towels. The TV would not work every single night. We had to contact the front desk in order to get somebody to come and reset the TV. We asked for assistance with Expedia and they did nothing. Everything was well until they had to change the return leg of their planned trip by a few days. Expedia wanted almost $1000 for the change despite the fact that Trip Protection Plus was in effect. - My advice: 1st - Avoid Expedia at all costs. 2nd - Don't pay extra for Trip Protection Plus.... All it does is add the following two worthless lines to your trip verification - "Breath easy! On Mar. 7 I reserved a hotel room. On March 9th I needed to change the dates on my reservation. I attempted to do so through Expedia. Expedia couldn't find my reservation through the itinerary number they gave me. I tried by e-mail, name, and finally phone number, with the same result. They kept giving me my past reservations instead. I figured that they lost my reservation somehow. I booked through another service and a different hotel. I couldn't make changes or cancel through Expedia because they didn't have my reservation.

I called the hotel and they did have a reservation under my name, but to make changes I would have to go through Expedia to make the change. I told the hotel to cancel my reservation. Later that day, I got confirmation from Expedia for the same as the original reservation, but with a different itinerary number. I have been trying to contact Expedia, but they will not respond. There is no chance for a refund, so they have robbed me. I have copies of the original, the second from Expedia and finally the results of my bookings and lo and behold. The later has the original itinerary number. They have stolen my money.

The flight travel destination was changed without my consent! Just a friendly piece of advice: don’t ever book with Expedia just because you think it’s a little cheaper than booking directly with the airlines. You could end up losing even more money with this company. We booked two round-trip tickets a couple of months ago for a European destination on a flight operated by two partner airlines. Yesterday, I received an email from the airline, which I only checked today, stating that my booking had been changed to a different destination in another city, in another country, on the other side of the continent. I called Expedia right away and was told that the airlines had altered my initial reservation and made that change to a completely different destination.

To keep my original destination, I had to cancel the reservation for the wrong destination and rebook the same flight that I initially reserved and paid for, but this time at a much higher price. The other option was to cancel the newly booked flight to the wrong city in the wrong country and pay a cancellation fee equivalent to the price of one ticket.

I called both airlines, and they said that the change was made by the booking agency, sending me back to Expedia. I used to book with Expedia for many years, as did many of my friends. Unfortunately, lately, it seems the company has started to scam its customers, and I am very disappointed that a company that used to be so helpful, reliable, and transparent in the past is now heading quickly towards bankruptcy.

There was a big nonrefundable policy which I was willing to accept but without the flight my package rate was more than if I had booked separately. I lost $660 even with my CC dispute. I booked through Expedia for an SUV from Routes Car Rental at Calgary airport. When I arrived, they gave me an SUV that was about 10" shorter than the one I had booked so it was a bit tricky to fit our skis, snowboard and two large suitcases in it. However, since our flight had been delayed and the Routes staff were friendly and actually stayed past closing time to set me up, I just took the SUV they gave me.

I had pre-paid Expedia $177.40. Routes claimed the SUV they gave me was "similar" but the receipt they printed came to a total of $140.79. I don't know if it was cheaper because it was smaller, or less fancy or their rates fluctuate but I figured I would get a credit on my VISA because according to their paperwork, the SUV I got would have been $140.79 if I had not pre-paid for it.

I contacted Expedia and they got back to me, saying that they had contacted Routes who said no refund would be coming. I contacted Expedia back and explained that they had an obligation to tell Routes to provide the refund or that they should provide it to me directly. They told me to contact Routes directly. So apparently I work in the rental car business now because I am doing their job and wondering why I bothered dealing with Expedia at all. I contacted Routes who said I need to contact Expedia since they were my primary point of contact. So for the third time, I contact Expedia who replied back that there is nothing they can do.

It seems obvious that a customer should not have to pay more than the going rate simply because Expedia got the money in advance. It is pretty standard that when you buy something and the price drops before you pick it up, you get the lower price. This tells me that Expedia is a joke because they don't have the stones to tell their providers to send a refund and/or think it's okay when their providers switch a reservation and provide a lower priced vehicle but keep the extra money I pre-paid for the vehicle I didn't get. The only other thing I can come up with to explain this is that maybe Expedia routinely charges 26% commission to book a car rental. Next time I will just go directly to a car rental site and save the $36.

I have no idea whether Expedia or Routes pocketed the extra $36.61 but I will not be using either company again in the future if I can help it. I'm astounded that Expedia would not just resolve the issue directly. Then to have both companies tell me to talk to the other one? I feel that at least one of them is lying to me and/or at least one of them is incompetent. Expedia's site says "...We’re here to build great products, and facilitate connections between travelers and our partners that truly bring good into the world." I would just say that they are extremely unprofessional and recommend you avoid using their services.

Beware of booking with Expedia—they’ll treat you like dirt and leave you stranded! I booked a round-trip flight from Seattle to Phoenix for March 7-10, 2025, back in October 2024 through Expedia. Everything seemed fine until one traveler couldn’t go, and I contacted their online customer service on March 6, 2025, to cancel just her portion and get a credit from the airline. I explicitly told the agent not to touch the other travelers’ bookings. What did Expedia do? Within an hour, they canceled my entire itinerary without my permission!

Furious, I started another chat with a different agent, who had the nerve to ask for my credit card to “rebook” it—like I’d trust them again after their colossal screw-up! I refused, since this was 100% Expedia’s mistake, and called their customer service instead. The phone agent promised he could restore my booking without needing my card. Sounded good, right? Wrong. Without my knowledge or consent, he charged $926 to the card Expedia had on file! I got a “card not present” alert from my bank and couldn’t believe Expedia had the audacity to do this behind my back.

The nightmare didn’t end there. They managed to restore my Seattle-to-Phoenix flight on March 7, but I lost my carefully chosen seats and got stuck in the last row. Even worse? They didn’t bother rebooking my return flight from Phoenix to Seattle! I was left high and dry. I spent hours on the phone with multiple Expedia supervisors, who fed me a ridiculous story about needing to pay an extra $600 to rebook my return flight. They claimed they paid it, only for the airline to cancel it again, and then had the gall to say, “Well, we both lost $600, so we’re even.” Are you kidding me? I called the airline myself—they confirmed Expedia never even tried to rebook anything after their initial cancellation on March 6. Expedia flat-out lied to me.

After wasting over 10 hours on the phone with their incompetent, untrustworthy customer service, I’m still fighting to get my money back. Expedia doesn’t care about its customers—they’ll butcher your plans, charge you without consent, and leave you to clean up their mess. Save yourself the headache and stay far away from Expedia. Book directly with airlines or use a company that actually values you!

Extremely disappointed in Expedia and Porter airlines! We missed our flight out of Toronto on February 13th due to having to wait 4.5 hours in line to get through security at Pearson Airport which had just had a major snow storm the previous night. When we finally cleared customs after close to 5 hours in line, we ran to our gate, the flight had been delayed twice due to the weather and the plane was still there, but they (Porter) would not let us board!! Apparently they had already taken our luggage off along with the 20-30 other people that missed the plane. We were told we had to leave the secure area, reclaim our luggage and go upstairs to the Porter desk and they would rebook us.

We waited in line some more and when we finally spoke to the Porter agent they said they could do NOTHING for us because we had booked through Expedia and we needed to call them. So, people should be aware when you book through Expedia the airlines do nothing to assist them in re-booking (what happened to the Air Passenger Protection Regulations?). When we finally reached Expedia on the phone after an 1.5 hours of being put on hold for 30+ minutes at a time with no updates we were told they were having a problem with their 'tool' and couldn't check any other flights for us. In the end, the agent said he called Porter and they told us we (the passenger) was responsible to book and pay for an alternate flight but that the return ticket portion was still good in case there were any questions from US Immigration. So basically Expedia was of NO HELP WHATSOEVER!

We finally found a one way ticket from YYZ to FLL with Air Canada at a cost of $1000 each... We slept in the airport and got our flight the next morning to Fort Lauderdale at our expense. So, how do I make a claim to be reimbursed for the $2000 we had to pay out-of-pocket since the airline wouldn't let us board the flight that we had paid Expedia for and we missed it due to the horrible delays at Pearson Airport caused by CATSA/TSA not us? Expedia was basically USELESS in resolving the issue!

NEVER EVER will I use EXPEDIA again. We used Expedia for a trip to Sarasota Florida 2/14-2/17/2025 for a buddy's wedding. Upon landing, we called the "hotel", Sarasota Getaway to inquire about early check in. We then found that Expedia OVERBOOKED the "hotel" and we did not have a room. After searching for a contact number for Expedia, which was a chore in and of itself, we encountered a barely English speaking male, who kept using the catchphrase "no worries" when we told him of the issues we were having.

After 45 minutes of a conversation, from the back of a car service, we were told to go the "hotel" as there is a room. We had the driver take us there to the Sarasota Getaway, which BTW should have been cordoned off with crime scene tape. Filthy, disgusting, migrant shelter/homeless shelter looking facility. The female mgr, who was nice confirmed that Expedia did in fact overbook and we had no room. We were then forced to seek other accommodations, more costly, as it was Presidents weekend. Never again. Expedia did refund us the amount for the room, however, NO compensation for the extra cost of another hotel, no apologies, no assistance in securing other accommodations, we felt disrespected and cast aside. The ONLY saving grace was the "limo" driver who stayed with us the entire time and did more to help than Expedia did. Expedia sucks.

I do NOT recommend Expedia. Expedia Reward points were suddenly removed from my account. When I contacted them, this problem was continually shuffled to other departments within customer support services without any resolutions. The points were never returned to my account. Expedia does not follow the terms/conditions as listed and documented under the Terms and Conditions. They do NOT follow "good business acumen", where a business follows the Terms and Conditions, as documented; and where they do not verbally change a "documented" item just to benefit themselves and to create a loss for the customers. The terms and conditions cannot and should not be changed in any way in order to remove/eliminate the EARNED BENEFITS from customers' accounts.

After many, many months of communicating with Expedia about how I had followed ALL rules as listed under the terms and conditions, Expedia decides to create reasons as to why they removed my Reward Points from my account, even though their reasons were NOT VALID nor were any of their reasons even stated in the Terms and Conditions. All the reasons that were created did NOT even apply to my situation. Therefore, until Expedia works with customers to resolve issues and to follow the documented Terms and Conditions, they are NOT a company I would recommend to anyone.

BEWARE! BEWARE! BEWARE! If I could give negative stars I would. I travel a lot and this was the worst experience with Routes (and since Expedia) I have ever had. The issue started when we arrived in ATL on 11/23. I went to the email to book the shuttle but the page would not find my confirmation so I had no idea how to get the shuttle. After calling several times and no answer, we grabbed an Uber for $30 to the rental car place. Once we arrived, they did not have the minivan we booked and no vehicles were available that would fit us and our luggage. The front desk agent only told us we could cancel and book somewhere else - impossible the weekend of Thanksgiving. She stated that they never carry minivans and didn't know why Expedia allowed us to book one.

Finally the manager agreed to give us a second car for $70 in fees. After being there for over an hour and a half, it was our only option. We were not happy about paying more after all the hassle plus a second driver plus additional money in gas. Everything was fine with the cars until I saw an additional charge on our last day of $249 for a border crossing fee. One, I was not informed this was a thing. I have rented many cars and never heard of crossing a state border as being an issue. 2. we only went to a small border town that was half in Tennessee/half in Georgia. So if I was in Tennessee, it was by mere feet. Of course, with everything going on, nobody went over this with us.

Once I saw this, I immediately called the Routes customer service line provided in the email and had it escalated to a “supervisor.” Once talking to the supervisor, I was “disconnected.” When I called back, they sent me directly to the rental office in Atlanta. They informed me that only corporate could help. I called back a 3rd time and tried to escalate to a supervisor at which time the rep informed me there are not supervisors at the call center and the only thing I could do was email. Another 2 hours of my time wasted and nothing done… I did email and of course no response. When I got to the rental car office, I was told the supervisor there would call as soon as he got in. Nothing and after a couple more calls, still nothing. This has been the most time consuming, horrible, and expensive experience I have ever had with a car rental company or any travel company for that matter.

Since then, I have filed with my credit card company who agreed to remove the $250 fee due to no response from the rental car company and my good standing with them. Then I got charged again by the car company (3 months later) so now we are having to stop payment on the card because they are continuing to charge me.

After 3 months of also trying to get a resolution with Expedia, they informed me today that they won't be doing anything because supposedly we arrived 2 hours after our scheduled time to get the vehicle so they had given the minivan away. This was an outright lie. We were on time but were not able to LEAVE the car rental facility for 2 hours after we were scheduled because they did not have the vehicle. And we were told it was the fault of Expedia because they never carry minivans. They did not connect the secondary car to our reservation so are claiming they were separate (we only had to get the 2nd car because they didn't have the minivan). Today they tell Expedia that they do have minivans and it was our fault we didn't get it because we showed up late. It has been lie upon lie upon lie and terrible customer service from both Routes and Expedia. I will never use either again.

I contacted the airline to say the date change was not possible, because I had other bookings (flights/hotels/car rental) either side of the flight. They said contact Expedia, which I did. Expedia tried to pass the buck by then suggesting I contact the airline. I demanded Expedia sort out the problem since the booking was made through them, which they said they would do and got back to me with options. I chose an option together with my original demands for proper compensation. They responded with an email that demonstrated a complete disregard for resolving the issue.

If nothing is done and I am not compensated for the inconvenience, it will cost me hundreds of dollars to reschedule my trip. This kind of behavior is unprofessional and unacceptable. I tried using the virtual assistant to correct this, but they were absolutely no help. I finally called the hotel who gave me an actual phone number, but of course it was all automated. I finally pushed zero a couple hundred times and actually got a person on the phone, but of course they were in India and couldn’t understand a thing I was saying. I requested to speak to someone in the United States.

She put me on hold for five minutes, and then the same non-American speaking person came back on the line. After arguing back and forth until I almost completely lost my voice (again, I have the flu), I finally told her I would just eat the money and NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER use Expedia for anything ever again. A guy with a van showed up at the airport and drove us to the ferry docks at night and dropped us off. When I asked about our tickets for the ferry, he did not know anything about that. So he called Shuttle Central and asked them. They said they were sorry but had not purchased ferry tickets for us. They texted me to apologize, that they had an issue, and couldn’t provide the ferry tickets, but that they would refund me the ticket cost through Expedia.

I tried to reach back to Expedia and they couldn't help me because they said the flight I booked was the least expensive w/very strict rules. No wiggle room for changes or refunds. They were only able to refer me to AA for help. AA couldn't reschedule same flight due to it was more than 24 hours since I canceled it. No one can give me our money back so far. UGH! I don't see any disclosures or warnings from Expedia that state each airline is subject to cancel flights and impact the other airline.

Despite contacting Expedia’s customer service multiple times by phone and live chat, and providing proof of these attempts, I still haven’t received a refund. Additionally, a supervisor handled the situation very unprofessionally, dismissing my concerns and implying that the issue was solely my problem, without any effort to help. This lack of support and accountability has been extremely frustrating and disappointing. I hope to resolve this issue as soon as possible.

I have always used Expedia to book my travel. This year when I booked my mother and her partner's flights to Mexico for my wedding, Expedia notified me that the airlines had changed their flights coming home. The options were 1) accept changes 2) call to rebook the flight or have a refund issued. The new flight times added an additional 9 hour layover which was unacceptable. When I called for the refund they advised me it would be processed in 3-5 days. The refund to this day has never gone through. I have called and spoken to several agents, each one not having any record of the last one. I have emailed, never getting any kind of response. I spoke to a manager and she tried telling me to accept the new flight as it was a great option and would not listen to me, nor help me with the refund I was advised I was going to get, so that I could rebook a more suitable flight. I have never had such terrible customer service.

Expedia.ca is no longer a reputable company. Their booking process is not replicated by their receipt process and the customer is often subjected to bait and switch or technical difficulties resulting in the customer not getting what was paid for. For example, purchasing premium economy airfare and then being provided basic economy. Expedia is very well known for that.

The Customer Service staff are the worst I have ever experienced anywhere. They are either very poorly trained or perhaps just trained not to solve problems where the company is at fault. Expedia.ca is the most dishonest online company I have ever done business with. They are not subject to Consumer Protection or TICO standards, only the Better Business Bureau where they average about 25% resolution of many many complaints.

Expedia.ca does not have a complaint department but farms out all its complaints to another department. If you're going to use Expedia.ca, screenshot each step of the booking process and then call in and have their customer service rep make the purchase. Do this as it isn't rare for you to book one thing and have Expedia provide a lesser standard than you booked. Don't forget your credit card company can also open a dispute against them at your request. Your best bet is to book directly with the hotel and airline.

We booked a two-night stay at the Homewood Suites through Expedia. Upon arrival, we were shocked to find the room in an uninhabitable condition. The room was filthy and unsafe, with visible mold, old food in the refrigerator, a blackened shower, inches of dust, and a pervasive foul odor. These conditions were unacceptable, particularly because my son suffers from severe allergies, and my husband is undergoing chemotherapy for cancer, making a clean and safe environment essential.

When we brought this to the front desk's attention and requested a transfer to another room, we were informed the hotel was fully booked and no alternative accommodations could be provided. At this point, I contacted Expedia to find a resolution. I spent over an hour on the phone explaining the situation and seeking assistance to transfer to a clean and safe hotel. Eventually, we found an alternative hotel 45 minutes away, but it was nearly midnight before we were able to settle in. During this process, I signed an agreement with Expedia to facilitate the transfer and was told the additional charges were due to the higher rate at the new hotel. However, I later discovered an undisclosed $490 fee associated with this transfer. This fee was not communicated to me as anything beyond the difference in hotel rates, and I feel this lack of transparency is deeply unethical.

Additionally, a week after the incident, my request for a refund for the original, uninhabitable hotel room was denied. It is unacceptable that Expedia facilitated the booking of an unsuitable hotel and has since refused to secure a refund for a service that was not delivered. This experience goes far beyond a simple service failure. It was deeply traumatic for my family, who are already navigating significant personal challenges. I am appalled by this experience and the lack of accountability on Expedia's part. It is unreasonable for a travel agency to fail in ensuring basic standards of accommodation and then refuse to compensate for the inconvenience and financial burden placed on the client.

Before leaving the airport when our flight was cancelled, we immediately reached out to Expedia to let them know of the cancellation of the flight and asked them to cancel the hotel and our pre-paid transport. They said before we filed a claim, they would like to reach out to the resort and driver to request a refund. Each day for the entire vacation, I reached out to Expedia because the resort and driver reached out several times. Expedia said they were "trying to reach the resort but hadn't been able to do so". However, each time I reached out to the resort to ask for a refund, they referred me back to Expedia. Expedia said I should wait 72 hours and they would try to get my refund without filing insurance because it would be faster.

On the day we were to come home, the driver for our transport phoned us asking where we were because he was there to pick us up and the hotel reached out with instructions for check out. The following day, Expedia emailed to say they tried to waive the cancellation fee with the hotel but were unable to do so. But they never suggested using the insurance we paid for (and have filed a claim). Expedia clearly didn't do their job in letting the resort or the transportation know we had cancelled! They also didn't tell me to just file the claim... instead, they wasted my time in trying to communicate with them and delayed the refund through insurance.

Their messaging system warns that the property may not respond for several days. When I arrived in Rome I attempted to contact the property through a nearby hotel who was more than happy to help, when I offered him the number, he said he knew it because this was a constant problem and he gets a lot of business that way. He could not get an answer. My telephone operates by wifi calling so I can use it in Rome, but only to call USA numbers.

I went to the chat system with EXPEDIA and the agent there was not able to contact them, I had no idea HOW to contact them at that point and neither did the agent. THE AGENT instructed me to find another property at which to stay, and EXPEDIA would initiate my refund request. I stayed the first night at the property where the manager was that assisted me, and the next two (because BB was still not answering or responding to the message I sent as of today Dec 23), at Hotel TITO booked through EXPEDIA, double dipping on one trip.

It appears at this time that if BB Roma does not answer the phone or respond to messages, you have no room or refund, what a scam. Do not ever book with Expedia because they don't have a phone number if you have a problem. There is no way to reach them. We had a lot of difficulty finding this so-called hotel that actually was not a hotel, but was advertised as a hotel on Expedia. Once we found it, we hated it. It's in a big old condo building with a big old greendoor and they have rooms on the 2nd and 3rd floor. You have to buzz it to get up the stairs. On Expedia it's advertised as a beautiful hotel but in real life it's old and ugly. So weird. The room is small..not at all like the pictures.

Expedia published false information on a hotel in Rome called Aenea Superior Inn. They showed glorious photos of the hotel. It turned out the hotel was not really a hotel. It was just a couple of ugly rooms in a massive building starting in the 2nd floor. The picture that was the reason we booked it showed a light large room. It was in fact a dark room with no window. There was only one large room and we were not given it. We booked 2 nights last week and also booked 2 nights for Xmas. We did not want to ruin our Christmas holiday by staying in this ugly place. We tried to call Expedia to cancel 2 nights that were scheduled in 2 weeks, but there is no phone number to talk about problems. The chat did not work. Expedia does not care about its clients. I will never book anything w Expedia again.

This is the third problem I've had w Expedia. One was with a flight and another with a hotel. Again no way to contact Expedia. Even though we will not stay in this dump, Expedia will not refund our money. Even though we booked 2 airline tickets to Rome with them plus paid for 2 nights in a crappy hotel. All we wanted was to cancel the next two nights that we booked almost 3 weeks in advance. Expedia, is this how you treat your VIP customers?

I alerted Alaska Vacations powered by Expedia immediately and after hours of phone conversations and emails, they are not refunding a dime. I contacted the airlines directly and they refunded 100% of the tickets back to Expedia since they were the source. Expedia is still giving us the run around and have not refunded the airline tickets that they received refunds on.

Furthermore, they want 100% cancellation fee for the hotel/car. The cancellation fee on our itinerary/contract with Expedia states the hotel's maximum penalty for changes made with 3 days of the stay or for no shows are subject to a property fee equal to the first night's rate plus taxes and fees. They are thieves! What a rip-off! I will never book anything with Expedia again nor with anyone who partners with them.

Purchased a round trip ticket from RMO to IAD and it said basic economy with baggage included. To my surprise it baggage is included only in one direction and the other one was booked by Expedia as economy light. I received an email where it is said both flights are economy but when tried to check it says no baggage included. I contacted customer support and they admitted that the email says economy but I will have to contact the airlines and purchase baggage even if it was advertised as included. The airlines told me it can’t be done only at the airport because it’s operated by two different airlines and the cost is unknown. From previous experiences it’ll probably be close to $300 for both flight which is very disappointing because I could’ve used the $300 and bought it directly from the airline with all the services included. Customer service is rude and aren’t willing to do anything to help. Worst experience.

The worst experience with Expedia after being a loyal customer for years this company decided to keep my money after a cancellation within the 24 hour window and did not received a refund, I have been back and forth with them on the phone wasting my time at the end. They keep telling me the same thing over and over making me feel that they are looking after me but they just play this game keeping you on the phone forever and not resolving anything and just lying to you, this company should not be on business just stealing from people, never again. I will do all my booking elsewhere! Be aware.

I tried to book a flight with Expedia.ca. Went through the Airmiles shopping link with Expedia so that I would get the airmiles from the purchase. Found a suitable flight, went in and filled in all the info to make the booking, clicked the "complete booking" and for a few seconds it was working to process it then a message pops up "Sorry, we weren't able to complete your booking. Please wait a moment and tried again" so waited a bit and tried again, same result. Tried again, same result. Next thing I see is a message popped up in my email from the airline that said that my flight was booked with them. I checked my bank and yes there was a charge for the flight price on my credit card. Meanwhile I check back on the Expedia account and there was no record of the flight booking transaction going through their system.

SO, the airline got the booking request from the Expedia system and they accepted the request and charge my credit card, while at the same time the Expedia system glitched and as far as it was concerned the transaction never happened. I checked directly with the airline's website and confirmed that the booking confirmation and invoice was generated, so the ticket looked real. Called customer services at Expedia and they could not explain it, they could see that I tried to book through them but apparently their system says it had cancelled the booking each time I tried. However, obviously it had sent a booking request to the airline's system since they recieved and fulfilled a flight booking. I'm just glad it had not issued a ticket for each time I had tried again.

So obvious glitch in the Expedia system, the funny thing was the first customer service rep I spoke to accepted that something strange happened but kept on claiming that the system was not showing no errors so as far as she was concerned there was no glitch and she could do nothing. Spoke to a supervisor who checked that the flight booking was real and confirmed and accepted that there was a glitch in the system. She offered me a $50 coupon for hotel booking as an apology for the hassle which was nice of her but it does not inspire any confidence in actually ever wanting to use the Expedia.ca site ever again to book anything.

Booked hotel in Bangkok last night - was in AUD as booking from Australia. Transfer went thru. & was $370.AUD higher than the quoted price which included all Fees & Taxes. Contacted Expedia, twice, got the run around, the snip of the Expedia website wouldn't work to show the disparity.. They did e-mail me & I was able to copy & paste from web into the e-mail, however the nightly rate had gone up $10.AUD, interesting! After a lot of two & fro the Support rep from Expedia said he would refer it to the Hotel Manager, but of course it was after 11pm so I would receive e-mail when I wake up. The rep had offered that the Hotel would have to cancel the whole booking & I start again, basically got me off the line as I was persistent.

This morning I go back into the site & the second interaction with Support rep from Expedia was removed from the thread. They blame the hotel but immediately their actions suggest otherwise. Have tried several times & in the end was asked to call the hotel.Don't have international on my phone so have tried Messenger & Facebook but no luck - my IT knowledge unfortunately. I did send an e-mail to Thai tourist police so haven't given up hope as they are very professional.

The lack of resolution to my issue and the unprofessionalism I encountered has left me with no choice but to take further action. I am now in the process of preparing a negative review regarding my experience and exploring the possibility of pursuing a class action lawsuit against Expedia for what I perceive as unfair policies and the unwillingness to assist paying customers. It is unacceptable for a company of your size and reputation to engage in practices that leave customers feeling disrespected and financially taken advantage of.

As a loyal customer who has used Expedia’s services in the past, I expected a much higher standard of customer care and professionalism. I request that you immediately review my case and issue a full refund or credit of the amount of $337.14. If this matter is not resolved promptly, I will have no choice but to escalate my concerns further.

I booked a multi-leg international flight for five passengers through Expedia 10 months prior to my trip and immediately purchased seats through the airlines (Iberia and it's code share partner American). Iberia canceled multiple legs of my trip and I re-booked through Expedia. The entire trip is a mess now. I have two bookings for American and one of them makes no sense (departing my layover before I arrive). I've lost all of my seat assignments that I paid for and risk having the correct American booking canceled by Sabre when it identifies there are two booking references. I can't even purchase new seats for my flights online or through an agent. I have spent 11 1/2 hours on the phone with Iberia, American, and Expedia.

I was on hold for 4 1/2 hours before being connected with an Expedia customer service representative. In the 11 1/2 hours I'm exactly where I started and nothing has been fixed. Both airlines say Expedia should have transferred my seat assignments to the new flights and Expedia says the airlines should do that. Expedia's suggestion is that I just show up at the airport and let the airlines assign my seats at that time. I've traveled enough to know that flights are always over booked and if you don't have a seat assignment you are the first to get bumped from the flight. I booked in advance so my family could sit together in good seats toward the front of the aircraft away from the toilets. Assuming I get on the flights at all, at best we will be scattered throughout the plane in middle seats.

Expedia’s site likes to automatically change reservations to the name on your credit card or account even if you manually put in the correct information. It causes major issues for international travel that they never want to fix and then you end up having to pay extra to fix THEIR mistakes. Plus their customer service is lazy, you have ask continuously or just email the execs straight away. My mother had to pay $2000 extra due to Expedia’s mistakes because they ignored her for 2 1/2 months.

Expedia is going downhill fast. I used to only use Expedia for booking any trips or Hotels, unfortunately my last experience was so horrible I will never be using them again. I booked a Hotel for a set room rate. I then received a email confirmation showing that same amount but when I checked my credit card they changed the pricing to a higher cost. I reached out to customer service to get help and showed them the proof only to be told that's too bad and I must pay the new price because they made an error. For a company the size of Expedia im surprised instead of just honoring their price they first decided to charge more without my knowing and then when I asked about it they flat out refused to help. Avoid using this company, there are much more reliable and trustworthy places to book through.

DO NOT USE EXPEDIA! I recently booked two hotel rooms for two nights each and a rental car for three days through Expedia. Due to travel issues, I only needed one room for two nights and the other for one night. I was within the window to change or modify the request and attempted to do so through Expedia's online support. Unfortunately, it would only let me cancel the second room for both nights and then cross my fingers and hope there was still a room available that I could book for the now updated rate. When I finally found a phone number for Expedia it took forever to get to a person. The person informed me that she had canceled the second room for the first night and I received the updated itinerary. However, when I reached the hotel there was no record of the change. Fortunately, the manager was understanding and didn't charge me for the night.

I also booked a rental car for my son and prepaid the rental and insurance. However, when he got to the Hertz counter in Minneapolis, they recharged him insurance. It is impossible to get through to customer support at Hertz and Expedia stated they would look into it. I will never use either of these companies again due to their lack of operational competency, integrity, and suspect business practices.

Six days before a trip we had scheduled for over eight months, I received some emails showing credits for my purchased luggage from United. I called United first to find out why and they told me that Expedia had cancelled the entire trip on us! Meanwhile, my trip was still visible in my Expedia account, I didn't receive an email about the trip being cancelled or a refund. I called Expedia hoping to get the flights back (since it had only been a few hours), and they told me that the trip was cancelled via a mobile app..?? This all happened at 1 am when I was sound asleep. I asked them why I would cancel a trip in my sleep when I have a wedding to attend and a non-refundable AirBnb? There was complete silence.

They assured me I will be getting a full refund in 7-10 days, which I shouldn't have been eligible for had I been the one to cancel these non-refundable flights. I have definitely learned my lesson the hard way. After years of using Expedia our luck ran out in a big way and they do not take any accountability at all. Please save yourselves the heartache.

Called Expedia and explained that I paid double the costs for a hotel at Lake Como. Their reply was that I could have cancelled the booking at any time. If I did what they advised the hotel would have been booked up. Expedia did little in guiding and helping me with my trip. I thought I had booked a window view of the Grand Canal in Venice to arrive to a view of an alley. Also, I had to request my flight reduction refund (paid a fee if flight price was reduced).
