I had a very bad experience with this booking. The property was extremely dirty, poorly maintained, and felt unsafe to the point that I decided not to stay at all. It was absolutely not what was shown or promised in the listing. When I contacted Booking’s customer service for help, I received no response for a long time, and once they finally reviewed my case, they refused to issue a refund, even though I never stayed at the property due to the unacceptable conditions. Once you pay, it becomes almost impossible to get any real support—no answers, no assistance, and no accountability. I am extremely disappointed and would not recommend this property or the service I received.

Do not do business with them - they are thieves and lack ethics. On November 23rd, based on a review and a star rating of an accommodation I booked a hotel in Tunis. The taxi dropped us off about two miles from the property, where Booking.com stated it was just a few steps from the taxi stand. With two large suitcases, a carry-on, and a shoulder bag, we started walking with a woman from the hotel who did not speak a single word of English. This was not a hotel - it was someone's home. There was an eight-step staircase before entering the residence. I decided to leave and booked another hotel. When I called customer service, they told me the reservation was non-refundable, even though it was clearly stated as cancelable. They then claimed I needed to request a refund from the property. Upon contacting the property, I was told they had not been paid — not even to this day. They are thieves.

I booked accommodation through the Booking.com app, paid in full, and then Booking.com cancelled my reservation without providing any valid explanation. Despite the cancellation being entirely on their side, they have still not refunded my payment. What made the situation even worse is the customer service. Every time I called, the agents either hung up on me or failed to make any effort to progress my claim. I’ve received no accountability, no follow-up, and no resolution. I have used Booking.com many times in the past, but this experience has shown a complete lack of reliability and responsibility. At this point, I cannot recommend using Booking.com to anyone who expects their booking — or their money — to be handled with basic professionalism.

I rented a place on Booking.com and I the day of check-in, the owner, Eddie contacted me and said the place I rented was not available but he had another place for us. The outside stairs were rotting, the tub would not drain and the owner did come and fix it. When I asked for a partial refund, he would only discount $100. Do not rent 22 Ingraham Place in Bristol! When you are doing business with Booking.com, you could be doing business with a third-party company. These companies won't work with you to get any adjustment to your reservation and Booking.com says they have no way to help. The hotel can't see the reservation either. So now Booking.com suggests we fly to Miami and be there on the check in date. If then, they still don't see the reservation, then we can call and try to dispute it or get it canceled. I have used Booking.com for years and I will never do business with Booking.com again.

The worst nightmare vacation I ever had since being a Genius on Booking.com. I paid for 7 nights at Springhill Suites West Chase, disrespectful, rude staff, hair in food, staff making lemon water for guess with her hands. I made a report, sent picture to booking.com, they assured me I received a refund. Every day I'm calling, excuse after excuse, another story to tell. Damage deposit suppose to be a 100, hotel took 140.00, talking about 20 dollars a day.
Staff Irene, Christian, Hung extremely bad customer service. Everything was funny. When hair was in Food General management Josh showed him all pictures. He don't care. He stated booking.com is responsible for your refund and accommodation. Wow never again, health department will be notified, no hair nets even the cook. Laugh response from staff was it's only one piece of hair and laugh. This place need to be shut down. Booking.com don't care either 950.00 for one week. Never will I use you all again for anything. If I could give zero stars I would but I had to give 1 to write report

Can I please give zero stars?! They took my $822 for a hotel that closed a month before my trip. I only figured it out because I called the hotel to see if they had a hairdryer en suite and the phone was disconnected and the website down. I’ve been on the phone for hours. First booking.com said I’d get a refund. Now they are saying they have to contact the hotel AGAIN about my reservation. How do you not understand there is no hotel to contact?! I’m beyond frustrated with the horrible customer service, the amount of times I was hung up on after holding for 30 mins and going through all my info with each new representative. Horrible company and horrible experience. Stay away!

I am writing to express my disappointment and frustration with the subpar customer service I experienced. The representative not only struggled with English language proficiency but also failed to provide a professional and respectful interaction. Despite my clear communication, I was incorrectly accused of misspelling my own name, which was both confusing and insulting, especially given my educational background. My request to speak with a supervisor was met with abrupt termination of the call, which I find unacceptable. This experience has left me feeling unheard and dissatisfied.

I booked a studio with a sofabed in Birmingham AL at Steelhaven Apartments. The day of check in (Thursday Thanksgiving) I notified the host letting her know the unit was not clean and that the sofabed she advertised was a regular sofa. The host Elaine stated they would be in contact on Friday; never called. Unit number was 503 @Steelhaven Birmingham. Issues reported to owner:
- Roaches in unit
- Bathroom cabinet leaning
- Blinds do not work
- Sofabed is a regular sofa (no where for third person to sleep entire stay)
- Unit smelled upon arrival and was not cleaned
- No linen in unit
- No stock or restock of soap dispensers and bathroom products in shower entire stay
Owner offered another room only if I would pay a price difference as if it was my fault I came from out of state to book a slum unit and Elaine stated she would give me a full refund to only lie and try refunding me 58 dollars. When I called her back and asked why did she lie about saying she would refund my money she said because I stayed the entire booked dates she couldn’t. I told her I booked from out of state and it’s Thanksgiving day. Everyone was booked I had no other booking to utilize. I spent my money for a booking that was poor livable conditions and was forced to stay in unit because host didn’t want to make accommodations for her shortcomings. Any bookings or units for Steelhaven Apartments in Birmingham AL please run far away. The host has about 30-40 units there on Booking and the host was able to false advertise on Booking as well as lease out a unit in poor condition.

TERRIBLE platform for booking hotels, cars and flights. They ripped me off. STAY AWAY! I tried to cancel a hotel 7 days in advance of the trip and they refused to refund my $250 deposit! I would have been better off to directly reserve my room with the property because most if not all hotels offer a full refund 24-48 hours before the reserved dates. An awful experience!! Never again!!

I have written tons of reviews. Mostly 5 and 4 stars. A few 3 stars. All I can say is find a better way to make a reservation! I made a reservation for a hotel and then pretty quickly canceled it, as our plans changed. I then set another reservation 2 days ago for another hotel. When I logged in, I saw my previous reservation was still active. It was one where you provide your card and can cancel 24 hours before your stay without a fee. I sent in a cancellation request 2 days before the reservation. Got an email back from Booking.com saying they would send a request to the hotel for cancellation without a fee. Got another email today saying the hotel denied my request for no fee.
I searched for a way to contact Booking.com but couldn't find a number. So I called the hotel. They said they never received a request to cancel. I searched more. It took quite a while to find a phone number for booking.com. It is all AI. I finally got a human, but his accent was so thick. I ended up being charged even though I cancelled it twice within the proper frametime. No one can help me get my money back.

For us, Booking.com was a great way to get defrauded. We arrived in Southampton, England with our entire family of 6 having booked one night in Poole before a cruise on the Cunard line. When we tried to check into our booking.com apartment, we were told that there was a plumbing emergency, but no one even let us in the building. It was clearly a complete lie, and booking.com worked very hard to protect the hosts even though they were fraudsters. The host promised a refund that never came.

First time I used Booking.com. Booked a room at motel 6 in Charlotte NC for 6 days.11/6-11/12. They didn't have our room we requested and said they issued us a refund. Had to go across the street to a different motel. Luckily they had vacancies. Went on booking.com app to check if motel 6 did indeed issue a refund only to see they have us as actually staying there for our dates yet at a different motel. Husband went to motel 6 and said he wants a print out of refund. They gave him one. Called booking.com. After a automated message what your trouble is they connected me to a customer service agent. My agents name was Derek M. Told him my reservation for motel 6 is showing that I am staying there when I'm not. Got a print out receipt that a refund was issued yet Derek M can't find one.
For 45 minutes Derek M did everything he could to help me out and kept checking that I was still on the line and apologizing that it was taking so long. Told him I'm on vacation right now and have nothing but time and just do whatever you need to do to help me get a refund. He was the most helpful, patient, nicest man I ever had the pleasure of talking to. He cleared everything up and got us a full refund from motel 6 and will take 7-10 days to process on my credit card. 1 week of coming home my credit card statement came in and refund was issued. Booking.com. needs to know how much their customer service agents go above and beyond their jobs and Derek M is one of them. I will definitely use booking.com again knowing that if there is a problem I have someone like Derek M on the other end and he's got my back.

Ok, I've been using Booking.com for a number of years and have supposedly have reached "genius level 3". I understand only certain hotels give a discount. That does not explain why the exact hotel on my Booking.com account was $30 higher than on another computer picking the same hotel Booking.com listed through Google maps. So I try to reach a live person or a chat on the website to see why I'm being overcharged. Hit an AI wall to speak with anyone live and the website runs you through circles unless you already booked it. Never again using this opaque rip off with no customer service.

We are sitting in the house that has no soap to do dishes, no toilet paper and a water filter that hasn’t been replaced in God knows when. This house cost us over $1800 for five days. The pool deck we had to hose down cause it was disgusting. There’s cobwebs and wasp nests all inside the pool cage, so you cannot be out in the pool cage area. The pool is unheated. There is no soap to do dishes or use the dishwasher. There’s no hand soap. There’s no toilet paper, paper towel towels, or even garbage bags, which we had to go out and buy on Thanksgiving by finding a store that was open.
There is multiple maintenance issues. There is some type of repetitive cycling of electricity that happens every 15 minutes, and buzzes inside the master bedroom. There is warranty, pink mold, growing inside the showers. This is why they don’t show your photos of the Shower for this particular property, the furniture is ripped stained, and disgusting. There are multiple piles of different types of bugs that are dead behind the furniture, including something that looks like termite droppings behind the master bed wall, where they happen to be storing some of the newer flooring that they look like they just installed. The dust mites are horrible under there as well.
Photos will all validate what we’re saying, this is a horrible property at 2725 Leafy Ln. in Sarasota, Florida. I read the reviews and none of them articulate any of these issues. There is a lack of maintenance and life safety issues. There are no working smoke detectors in the home. The windows and doors are not able to be secured properly. The front yard is completely overgrown and looks like an abandoned home. I’m not gonna go on because there’s too many items to mention on how horrible this property is.

I am writing to express my extreme frustration with Booking.com regarding a flight cancellation for a trip from DFW to Manila on Cathay Pacific. The lack of transparency and outright misinformation I received is appalling. When I initially inquired about cancellation options, I was clearly told I would receive $592 back from my $790 ticket if I cancelled normally. I then informed the agent I had a medical emergency and asked if a full refund was possible with supporting paperwork; I was explicitly told, "Yes." I cancelled the flight and promptly emailed all required medical proofs.
Four months passed with no word. When I finally followed up today, Booking.com changed their story entirely. I was offered only $400, pending vague "other fees." This is unacceptable. I challenged them, stating that even without the medical exemption, I should still receive the original $592 I was quoted. They dismissed my concern, claiming they couldn't do anything.
To make matters worse, I contacted Cathay Pacific Airways directly, and the airline confirmed they never even received a cancellation claim from Booking.com. It is obvious that Booking.com is not being truthful about their process. I refused to accept a "blind offer" of $400, as I suspect the final amount after hidden fees would be negligible. I have retained all email correspondence and documentation as proof of the misrepresentations made by Booking.com staff. I will be escalating this matter immediately by filing a formal complaint with the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Aviation Consumer Protection and pursuing a full refund via a chargeback with my bank. Booking.com has turned a stressful medical situation into a nightmare of bureaucracy and deceit. Be warned.

It took 93 days and over 30 messages via text and Email to get a double booking resolved. We'd made a reservation for 1 night that was accidentally accepted as 2 nights. We called in about 2 days before when we realized the problem (within the cancellation period). An operator assured us the original reservation was cancelled and took our new 1 night reservation.
Booking.com's system never worked from that point on. My messages were responded to ONLY with requests to repeatedly retell our story. Finally, after weeks and no response other than to deny the claim and/or to request more info. We challenged the transaction with the credit card company and sent in a 6-page letter that included excerpts of reservations, info. requests, etc. We finally got charged for only 1 night rather than being charged for 3 nights that represented double billing for our first night and an additional billing for 1 night after we'd checked out. Booking.com is a useful service until something goes wrong. Then it can become a nightmare!

Carl, the last agent that I spoke with on November 26th, informed me that even though Booking.com charged my credit card, they "only" make 15% and the rest gets passed on to the hotel. At least he was honest enough to admit that Booking.com will not refund me money. My advice: book directly with the hotel and you will get the same room rate that Booking.com offers. Appalling customer negligence. Stuck in a bad situation in a property I didn't book that is legally leased by another man who has keys to my room and a signed lease. The single bed is broken in addition to holes in the mattress and wire sticking out, forcing me to sleep on the floor.Aalthough today I will go and buy a bed. The property owners are dismissive and rude. This is a far cry from the double room in a deluxe property I was promised and booked. Booking.com do not deem this serious enough to rebook me under their relocation policy which is absolute nonsense, they keep sending me in circles and sending me scripted responses.
When I speak to them on the phone they say "Oh I'm so sorry. This is a terrible situation, we must help you. Please let me speak to a manager so we can solve this for you." But I never got the call back I was promised, I just got brushed off on email saying my case does not fit the relocation policy but here is a $35 dollar gift voucher to spend on our site. I have referred the situation to Victorian Consumer Affairs and the Australian Consumer Commission.
I booked a property for two weeks through Booking.com, since I was originally to arrive a few days late, the property went ahead and rebooked my room, then put me in a different room in a different property. I arrived to find the keys weren't where they were supposed to be so I was given the passcode to the staff key box 5 days ago at the Flexi Stayz property, the box still has the same code and all the people in the house know what it is too it seems. The room I am in is currently still leased for the duration of my stay, the previous tenant of the last 3 months, David, holds a lease and keys to my room which I know because he has now bought a house nearby and visits with the other tenants here. All guests at the accommodation also have access to my room because they all know the code to the staff box at the front of the property which contains master keys.
My mattress has holes in it, broken springs and wire sticking out of it. I have taken photographic evidence of all of these things and uploaded to booking.com as requested. Booking.com should be relocating me under their policy given the accommodation is not safe, nor fit for occupancy, and after trying to resolve it with the business and them being rude and unhelpful (as they are apparently notorious for) I am still currently staying here because I don't have the money to get new accommodation at the last minute for the remaining week before they refund me which can take time. Photos attached show the state of the bed and mattress and also the access I have to the master and staff key along with all other residents. Appalling response by Booking.com to this situation. I do not recommend any booking with Flexistayz or booking.com. They're both totally negligent and I hope they enjoy being audited by ACCC and VCA>.

I called back two days later, and the woman said the same thing. That she had to initiate it, this was already on day 14 of waiting for it. Then after calling back a 3rd time to see if someone would get me a supervisor they told me that they couldn't get me one and that they initially weren't going to give me my refund because the cancelation fee was the full amount of the room and that's why they never processed it. I reserved the hotel room a couple of months prior and had to cancel due to a medical reason two months in advance of my stay. I went around and around in circles and was given the runaround. I called the Best Western who indicated I needed to work with Booking.com and vice versa. After several failed attempts to reach them (no answer, transfers, getting hung up on) I finally was able to get through to someone.
Apparently along the way during this phone shuffle, one of the 800 numbers apparently was an international call that cost me $99 for 30 mins. Booking.com noted medical reason and said they would work with hotel to issue refund and waive cancellation fee (I provided a medical note as requested). After numerous follow ups, the refund was never issued. I contacted my credit card company to dispute the charge. I was just notified that the hotel provided documentation reflecting their non-refundable hotel policy so they cannot issue the credit to me. Sadly, I likely won’t be booking through Best Western again because of this awful experience. I thought I was reserving directly through the hotel but it looks like the confirmation comes through Booking.com once you make the reservation. They have been horrible to deal with. I see that I am not alone here.. Sadly.

I used Booking.com to rent a local car rental for a few days. Since it was a Sunday I couldn't use my local rental and chose an airport car rental from booking.com's list. It was cheaper, off airport and I could pick it up on Sunday. The price was good so it seemed like a good choice. When I got to the counter, they brought up requirements not noted in the booking.com agreement wherein I had to provide a utility bill for my home address. As I didn't have one in my possession given it was not mentioned, we had to use an online bill in my wife's name. They added her as an additional drive at a cost of $86.00 which made the cr more expensive than Enterprise where I normally rent. Booking.com refused to take responsibility for the added expense even though all information was provided that alerted booking.com to make me aware of the added (very unusual) requirements. I will never use them again.

I had a hotel booking yesterday about 3 hrs drive from my home. The destination had a winter weather alert for freezing rain yesterday morning. I tried to change my booking for 2 days later - the hotel had availability.! I messaged the hotel via the Booking.com app. This was 6 hours before earliest check in time. The Booking app also suggest calling the hotel which so did but they said I had to contact Booking.com as they could not modify the booking. Booking.com replied to me 24?hrs later which of course was too late, so I got charged even though I had to cancel travel yesterday due to icy weather.
I had a similar experience with a vacation booking in October where the owner of the cabin only had communication via the Booking.com app. Took 2 days to get a response. Booked hotel room on 9/28/25 for that evening using Booking.com. I showed up at the hotel and reservation couldn’t be located. Finally after great deal of effort by the staff, reservation was found but for 10/26/25 which was 4 weeks away. I never selected that date, from the beginning I had selected 9/28/25 as the date I intended to stay. Immediately I cancelled the October reservation with Delta Hotels by Marriott and also reached out to Booking.com. Upon returning to home and checking my credit card statement, the charge is still present. Reached out to both Marriott again and Booking.com. Booking.com stated that Marriott wasn’t responding to them so I called them. I then received an email from Marriott stating they are “waiving the cancellation fee and asking Booking.com to refund me” but Booking.com is no longer responding to me nor to my credit card company and I have not received my credit to my credit card.

Their app booked the wrong day & then when I asked to cancel and rebook. They told me they'd call the receptionist at the hotel to request a “cancellation form fillout” they said they would email the hotel. I call the Hilton & they told me this isn't necessary and that they're trying everything to not give me a refund. They didn't even send them a form to fill out. Then I call back super.com & they say “I didn't receive the email” then I asked another 5x and she then says “it just came through” (total lie). Then they refund me in points of which I can only use on the app.
Then when I try to use the points in the app to rebook the correct day the app would not allow me to checkout. So I go back and click ok the added protection button which costs another $10 & it instantly goes through. Of course the app lets me check out when it takes money. This whole company is trained to give you such a hard time so you give up and they keep your money. I don't know how they're still in business or haven't been sued. Took me 5 hours to finally rebook & it cost me extra. Worst experience ever. They are scam artists

It’s much better to book direct even if the price is higher and I will tell you why. Per their words if the price is cheaper on their platform that means that it’s a partnership offer, which basically means they double brokering and if you already paid for your staying via booking.com it doesn’t guarantee your stay at this property and that you won’t need to pay once again the same money at the property.
My story with them was that the property where I booked the room and paid for it to Booking.com was closed so they moved us to one of their hotels nearby. Upon our arrival to the place, they showed me the message from Booking.com’s business partner which was Go2travel that our booking was cancelled due to changing the location and we were processed with refund. I tried to contact Booking.com for 2 days while our staying and got no response from them at all. At the day of the check out I had to pay once again for my staying direct to the property and sent all the receipts to Booking.com, however so far they keep ignoring me, the only response that they gave me so far is that it’s a partnership offer that’s why it was cheaper so it’s complicated.

I've tried to restart my computer, clear cache, use a different browser, and all other tricks but nothing resolved the problem. I called Booking.com and I got an AI assistant that wouldn't put me through to a live person, no matter what I said. I then emailed Booking.com several times and received the same response back, that I needed to enter my confirmation number of the reservation and the PIN number. I wrote back repeatedly that I don't have that information because I haven't been able to make a reservation on their inoperable website. Nothing. I get no one. I speak to no one.
In response to my last email, Booking.com emailed me back saying that I no longer have access to my Genius 3 plus account. And just like that, Booking.com didn't fix the problem; they made me the problem, and canceled me-- terminating my account. That company deserves to be nuked. A few weeks before the stay we receive an email from the property that they severed ties and will not honor the booking. In the booking app the stay remains confirmed. The property puts a message on their phone number stating the number no longer takes calls. When contacting Booking their canned answer is: it’s non-refundable. If you cancel you won’t get your money back. I sent them evidence of the email we received with the cancellation and so on. They then conclude with, "There is nothing we can do. We can perhaps email the property." 0 accountability. 0 care. 0 money back.

Booked a room at The Hyatt House/Wharf in Washington DC using Booking.com. Due to National Guard having to control lawlessness and the government shutdown closing most all attractions, we decided to cancel three days before the trip. We purchased travel insurance from Generali Global Assistance on the Booking.com website to cover an event like this. Not only did the hotel deny a refund, they would not even move the reservation till next year. They refused a refund and the travel insurance was worthless and denied our claim too. They stole $1631.18 from us. Their attitude was "too bad-so sad." Would do nothing to help us.

I would give 0 stars if I could. I have spent over a month trying to reach a human being at Booking.com after a widespread identity theft and account takeover. The suspects hacked my devices, used my email and personal information to run up over $30,000 in Booking.com charges, some directly on my credit cards and others through fraudulent lines of credit opened in my name.
During this time, I was locked out of my email account by Microsoft, and I was not able to access my Booking.com account to verify what had been done. Once I regained access to my Microsoft and booking.com account, I discovered five unauthorized trips, two of which matched nine of the suspicious banking transactions. The other three remain a mystery.
Booking.com’s support system is a wall of AI. The chat and phone lines won’t accept fraud complaints. I am unable to find a dedicated fraud reporting contact. The email option appears automated too, repeatedly asking for booking confirmations, PINs, dates, hotels, and the email used. I didn’t make these bookings, so I can’t provide that information, which I explained. No human response. No response at all.
Even after I was able to access my account and sent the exact details they requested, I received a reply asking for the same information again. It’s unacceptable that a company can facilitate this level of fraud and offer no way to speak to a live representative to investigate. I will never use Booking.com again and I won’t trust any company that refuses to provide live agent support for serious issues like identity theft. Consumers deserve better.

I went to Booking.com’s website to book a hotel for that evening. It was automatically rerouted to one of their subsidiaries apparently, but the room that I wanted to book was available so I reserved it and would check in a couple of hours later. It had pictures in the listing show a resort, a nice room, etc. Upon arrival a few hours later, it was discovered that this was not a hotel room at all. It was someone’s private apartment that had four other people in it already, a shared bathroom, and was nothing as the listing portrayed. I told the person that answered the door I would not be staying there as it is not what I reserved. As a woman, I was not going to stay in a small apartment with three men I did not know, share a bathroom with them, and sleep in a room that the other men in this apartment could just walk in into while I’m sleeping. Who knows what could have happened and that’s not safe.
There was no mention of this being a room in someone’s apartment that I’d be sharing with stranger men-otherwise I wouldn’t have booked it. And prior to booking I checked their reviews-all of which were excellent and not one review said this was a room in an apartment (I now know that they remove any of the bad reviews). I immediately contacted their customer service department, which is nonexistent. All you get is automated bots until you finally can get a person to chat with you after going back-and-forth for two hours. I demanded a refund of my money as they are responsible for the content on the their website. First they said it would take 24-48 hours for my refund (and they acknowledged I booked a HOTEL, not a private apartment room). I followed up again-same response- "Give us another 24 hours."
Then a week later I contacted them for the third time-and I had to start all over explaining what happened as they could not review the prior chat. After another hour explaining this was clear fraud and misrepresentation of a property on THEIR website and booking.com is the ones who took my money they said it was my responsibility to call their “booking agent or the property owner” and try to “negotiate” a refund from them-I don’t even know who that is! Booking.com is the business that took my money and it’s not my problem to try to chase down one of THEIR subcontractors. After 3 hours of trying to explain this fraud and getting nowhere I’m going to go to my credit card company to get my money back. Bottom line is I will never use booking.com or ANY of their related businesses-and you shouldn’t either!

I am writing to share my frustration with Booking.com regarding the termination of our property contract. The contract was terminated without giving us a chance to defend ourselves against allegations made by a single customer. This lack of due process is unacceptable. Despite making over 20 calls to customer support, we faced significant challenges in getting the help we needed. We were often left on hold for 10 to 15 minutes, only to receive robotic responses that promised a callback that never came. It’s disheartening to see that when issues arise concerning payments or pending invoices, the support team is very active and productive, but when it comes to addressing serious concerns like contract termination, the response is severely lacking.
For the past 20 days, our issue has remained unresolved, with no communication from the legal department despite our inquiries for their contact details. After spending ages on the phone with Booking.com, I was told the booking would be cancelled and refunded, but no refund has been issued to date. I even have video proof showing the entry code failed.
Second booking: Pokoje Gościnne MODR (Karniowice, Poland) – I booked this after Booking.com told me to find another place. Again, I couldn’t check in, the host didn’t speak English, and despite calling for help, we were left outside all night. The next day the property admitted there was a “language barrier” and apologized — confirming we were indeed there. The result: Three paying guests, with luggage, forced to sleep outside all night.
We were cold, stressed, and completely unsupported. Booking.com failed to resolve the issue or provide any real assistance in time. I am still waiting for a refund for the first booking and believe I deserve full refunds plus fair compensation for the distress, danger, and humiliation caused by this unacceptable situation. Our friend who was a Genesis member (not anymore), booked both vehicles on September 10th. My part of the booking for the rental car, booked from October 4th to the 12th. was $580.22 in Canadian funds.
We left Ottawa on September 30th. and flew to Paris, France and then a connecting flight to Florence, Italy and arrived on October 1st. On October 2nd, around 1 pm local time, I had my wallet stolen. I cancelled my credit cards right away. I reported my incident to the police in Florence. It was a good thing for my wife and I that we have wonderful friends who were able to help make our trip better after this terrible experience.
On October 4th. It was another nightmare at the car rental counter when I was unable to rent the vehicle without a credit card. I was ready to take the next flight home, I was so upset. After the fact, I read the cancellation policy with regards to the car rental and still decided to give a call to see if an exception could be made, but to no avail. I understand policies, but you would think there would be a little leniency in my situation.
When talking with Sarah D on the phone, there were no exceptions, so I asked to speak with a manager and then was put on hold. After about 5 minutes on hold, I gave up and realized she was trying to wear me down and it worked cause I just hung up. From that moment on, the four couples decided that we would never use Booking.com for any type of booking. We plan on telling as many people as we can so it does not happen to them.

I used to be happy with Booking.com — everything was fine until I faced my first real trouble. I had a hotel booked in downtown Los Angeles, but the night before my arrival, violent protests broke out and the city declared a curfew for that area, and I was arriving at night with a child. I couldn’t reach Booking support, so I called the hotel directly. The manager cancelled my stay and confirmed I wouldn’t be charged. For safety, I booked another hotel—also through Booking.com—outside the restricted zone.
Weeks later, Booking refused to refund me, saying a THIRD party denied it. I was never informed that a third party was involved, and if Booking had responded to me in time, this could have been avoided, I would only book another hotel for 1 night on the day of my arrival. Instead, I was charged for TWO hotels for the same dates and lost $1,700. Booking.com completely failed to support me during an emergency. I won’t use them again and advise others to be cautious.

I’ve never encountered a company as utterly incompetent and disorganized as Booking.com. Their so-called “customer service” is a complete joke unhelpful, dismissive, and incapable of resolving even the simplest issues. You can message, call, and email for days, and you’ll still end up going in circles with generic copy-paste responses from people who clearly have no authority or understanding of what they’re doing.
What’s worse, Booking.com seems to think it’s acceptable to take people’s money and offer zero accountability when things go wrong. They happily process payments, but when your booking is cancelled without notice or the property doesn’t exist, they suddenly vanish into thin air. Trying to get a refund or any form of compensation feels like battling a brick wall — except the brick wall might actually respond faster.
This company operates like a middleman that takes your money and washes its hands of responsibility the moment there’s a problem. They hide behind “partner policies” and refuse to protect their customers even when the partner is clearly at fault. I will never use Booking.com again, and I strongly urge anyone considering it to think twice. There are plenty of alternatives that actually value their customers and take responsibility when things go wrong. Booking.com isn’t just incompetent they’re thieves in suits, hiding behind a brand name that no longer deserves anyone’s trust.

Advertised clearly two bedrooms and two bathrooms. As you can see booking com organized taxi From the airport to 108 Keffer Place. Driver was there and was good and efficient. I received a message from my booking com place stating that I should go to 188 Keffer place not 108 Keffer place. Taxi driver then offered to take us to new place which is 188 Keffer place and not as per my original booking.
Large balcony with a mountain view
2 bedroom and 2 full bathrooms
Air conditioning
Parking
What we got in 188 Keffer place: We did not book 188 Keffer place. There was no two full bathrooms instead a tiny shower in between the bathroom on each side Which is totally unacceptable. We are two couples and we couldn’t use the bathroom as we expected. We ended up each waiting for to use the bathroom. 108 Keffer place has large balcony/Mountain View/furniture but 188 where they put us have tiny balcony with no furniture. No Airconditioning. When emailed the answer I got was that 80% of the apts in Vancouver don’t have AC. Then why put in the site as Airconditioning? Handheld shower holder was broken so we have hold it and take a shower. No napkins or paper towels. Toilet roll is on the kitchen counter. Charging over $650 per night is a rip off while it ruined our vacation.
I did call and reported the issue and change of property immediately after we checked in on August 14th after 10pm( flight delay). I asked booking com to get me what I booked or move us elsewhere however not helpful. Subsequently I called booking com two more times to resolve the issue. Booking com told me that they are contacting the property owner and see what they will do before booking com do what is right. This is after our vacation ruined after paying over $2000 for 2 1/2 days. I would like to get a full refund for the inconvenience and failing to provide what was booked originally.

My husband was experiencing medical problems and I accidentally cancelled my reservation thinking I would get a refund. After contacting Customer Service, I found out that I would lose all my money for a hotel in Paris France. I immediately contacted the Royal Madeleine Hotel and Spa which told me to send medical records for a refund. I decided I wanted to keep my reservation as it was 3 months out and I would travel without my husband if he could not go to Paris. After talking with Booking.com Customer Service, they contacted the hotel and the Royal Madeleine Hotel said my reservation was still active and they were looking forward to my visit Sept. 2-10th. Booking.com sent me an email stating that I had the reservation even though I cancelled and the Royal Madeleine Hotel and Spa was looking forward to our visit Sept. 2-10th.
3 months later when it was time to go on my trip, I emailed the Royal Madeleine Hotel and Spa to confirm my reservation. I received an email from the Royal Madeleine Hotel stating that there was no reservation in my name and my room had been given away. I contacted Booking.com again which called the Royal Madeleine Hotel about my room being rented out to someone else after I received an email from Booking.com which told me I had the booking. I was emailed by Booking.com that the hotel would still accommodate our reservation but the room we rented was unavailable and they would talk to the manager on Monday. On Monday, I received a call from Rama stating there were no rooms available. We were catching our plane in a couple of hours with no reservation for a room in Paris. Booking.com said they could not help us at all and gave us no solutions. I booked another hotel at the last minute for more money.
When I returned from Paris, I immediately contacted Booking.com and the Royal Hotel Madeleine for a refund. The Royal Madeleine Hotel said they had no record of Booking.com talking to them about my reservation and they were waiting for my husband's medical record. After numerous phone calls and emails to Booking.com and the Royal Madeleine Hotel nothing has been resolved. The hotel claims they did not talk to Booking.com about keeping my reservation and that the email I received from Booking.com was false. Booking.com has ignored the email they sent me stating I had the reservation at the Royal Madeleine Hotel over 3 months ago in settling my refund. Booking.com is taking no responsibility in this matter and left it up to the hotel to decide whether I get a refund or not.
Booking.com sent me an email stating I still had my reservation, I feel I should get a refund. The Royal Madeleine Hotel booked my room to another guest and did not lose money but still refuses to give me a refund. I feel Booking.com has a responsibility to refund my money for the reservation since Booking.com sent me an email stating I still had my reservation and the Royal Madeleine Hotel was looking forward to my stay. Apparently, the Royal Madeleine Hotel has a problem with the staff communicating with each other. I thought this was all settled in May and I had my room with a terrace. Booking.com's customer service is a joke and of no help. I was hung up on numerous times when I called Booking.com customer service.
At the present, Booking.com is not standing behind the email they sent me about keeping my reservation instead Booking.com is letting the hotel refuse my refund because of an earlier email when I was to send my husband's medical record for a refund. I asked the hotel to look at the dates of the emails because the email from Booking.com to me about the hotel keeping my reservation was a later date than the emails to the hotel asking for a refund because of my husband's health which is getting worse. I would not trust Booking.com. Booking.com is just a computer program. Booking.com Customer Service does nothing to help and does not care about the customer. Booking.com is only interested in profits. Booking.com did not respond to the Better Business Bureau when I made a complaint.
I would never trust Booking.com. I have an email from Booking.com stating I had a reservation and Booking.com is not standing behind their email. Booking.com is a Fraudulent company and is only interested in a profit. I don't know how Booking.com can tell me in an email that I had a reservation and then take no responsibility for their email. Booking.com advised the hotel to cancel my booking, and even though I asked the hotel if my room had been paid for that date and the hotel said it was, the payment didn't go through on the new card. I ended up without a room at 12:30 a.m. I attempted to connect with booking.com staff about this before the date I was booked for, but got no response. I ended up paying a higher rate for a substandard room in the hotel, and booking.com refused to compensate me for the difference.

Yes, horrible experience with these people. I booked a double room with two double beds and received a single room. I brought this to the Best Western attention, and they advised me to reach out to Booking.com to purchase another room. So, I called booking.com and their response "no cancellation," "no refund." They didn't even bother to try and fix the issue. So, I was stuck with one room, two beds for seven people. Ridiculous!!!! I will never use Booking.com to book anything else!

Got charged for a 2-night stay that did not happen. Even with proof we were still not refunded our money. This is illegal, unethical and plain wrong in every way. The customer service was no help and, no one knew nothing and had to explain the entire situation each time.

I cancelled my reservation and changed the dates. The fee was $0.00 when I made the changes. When I checked my credit card statement I was charged for both visits. I have attempted to contact them and still have had no contact with the company. I am disputing the charges through my credit card company. DO NOT use Booking.com.

I strongly advise everyone to stay away from Booking.com and Gotogate. They may seem convenient, but they are completely unreliable when it comes to pricing, customer service, and especially refunds. At the end of June, my flight was cancelled on the very day I was supposed to travel. Both the airline and Booking.com assured me I would receive a full refund. It’s now been over three months, and I still haven’t received a single cent.
I have written proof from the airline confirming that the refund was already processed and sent to Booking.com (or Gotogate, since they’re affiliated). Despite this, every time I call Booking.com, I get the same scripted response: “We’ve escalated your case, and you’ll receive an update within 24 hours.” That update never comes. I’m always the one following up, week after week.
Their customer service is outsourced, and communication is difficult because the agents are often not fluent in English. There’s no real accountability, and you can forget about getting timely help. They also changed the price of my original booking after I paid — another red flag. If you value your time, money, and sanity, do not book through Booking.com or Gotogate. There are far more trustworthy platforms out there.

Near impossible to get a hold of anyone live. When I finally did, the person seemed cool, but the cancellation policy isn't worth the time to book at this place. DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS SITE. Not worth the aggravation.

Booked an apartment ouside of Dublin for my family vacation. Messaged the host a couple days beforehand with arrival time. Never got a response back. Messaged again the morning of stay to get check in instructions but never heard anything back. Drove to apartment but could not access due to needing code for the door. Ended up having to book another rental and paying over $600 for the night, just to have a place to stay. Talked to a local business and they said that it has been an issue for some time now. People getting scammed by this guy. Booking still hasn't removed him from the site.
Not happy to have paid this high price for an alternative rental due to having a host that doesn't respond back. I called the number for the host but I don't think that it is the correct number. Left a voicemail once they called from a local landline they answered but didn't have a clue as to why I had called them. I tried to call Booking but never got to even talk to anyone after being on hold for over 20 min. I messaged them on the app and it said that they would be in contact with me within 24 hrs. The 24hrs came and went. Still trying to get a refund for the $333 from Booking. As of now it costed $900 for a 1 night stay.

Extremely poor customer service. Never use this website. It used to be a very reliable and convenient service. Not anymore since they outsourced their customer service agents with no power to cancel or issue refunds.

I have been using them for years. Booked a 3 night stay in Lisbon Portugal at Independente Bica hotel. Not only is it run down and dirty, unlike pictures on Booking.com site but it is dangerous-bed against a wall so second person has to crawl out over the other person, a few feet from the bed is a step down to the bathroom, dangerous for older people as we are and no room to even open a suitcase. Booking agreed to a refund and charged a $351 cancellation fee but since then has lied to us about when it would be sent, wanted us to call the Hotel to get a refund even though Mark at Boooking.com promised it to us in writing and I finally have started a dispute with my credit card. They may have "good deals" but don't back up their customers or their products.

I recently booked a hotel for my sister in Montreal through booking.com. All seemed well till after completion of the process, received email from booking saying they are trying to confirm the booking with the hotel but had already deducted the money from my credit card. Within 5mins received another email saying they could not confirm the booking and thus, cancelled and my payment has been refunded. I then had to book directly with the hotel. After 5 days of waiting for the refund to be reversed and hadn’t been, called a number I found online for booking. It was answered by an Indian guy and it seemed like a call center with all Indians. The first guy said they still had a hold on the funds as they wanted me to agree to a fee of $451 for cancellation. I reminded him they cancelled and should not have charged the card without confirmation from hotel. He said it was the hotel who charges for loss of sale.
I said that was not my issue besides, I had booked same hotel for my sister and she was there till end of week. He then changed his tune saying as reservation was on partner booking and being a non refundable cancellation booking, have to charge the fee. I reminded them again they cancelled as booking could not be confirmed and we are in receipt of email confirming refund and amount had been processed. I then asked to speak with a manager who went round and about and made it seem he was doing me a favour by reducing the charges to $389 plus goodwill bonus of a voucher if I could say I accepted and they would process the refund. While talking to him, had texted my sister to go to the hotels reception asking about the cancelled reservation through booking and why they were charging for loss of sale when she was still booked with them.
Hotel looked up the reservation but could not find a cancelled or live reservation and she texted me letting me know and that the manager of the hotel would look further in the morning. I relayed this to them but they still doubled down. I looked for other bookings customer service number and found another number and called. This seemed more legit as it went through a process but still had difficulty finding the confirmation details and pin provided. After so many tries, found it and I explained everything including, providing the telephone number called previously and what they told us. The lady took down all details and said if after few more days, money had not been refunded, to contact booking again. Around 10am today checked my credit card statement online and notice they had refunded the money in full. Never again are we using Booking.com I would be writing to the company also.

I had a change in life between when I booked my reservation in April 2025 to now. My MIL whom I take care of has slipped into late stage alzheimer's. I sent an email and Booking.com told me to contact the property. I did that. Due to my circumstances changing the hotel was willing to cancel at no fee. They just needed booking.com to do a three way call to unlock the reservation. Booking.com was unwilling to help. I suggest no one use them for anything. Booking.com is a complete joke and unwilling to help or take responsibility for anything.
