    In 2014 I scheduled a round-trip flight to Allentown, PA. I became ill with joint pain and swelling over my entire body. I could not sit for long periods of time, difficulty walking and could not lift, even light weight items. I went to the doctor and he performed extensive tests. I had notified the airline and Allianz of my illness and canceled my flight. A representative from Allianz explained the rules and walked me through the process of how to file the claim and the proper paperwork necessary to submit a claim for a refund. He was very nice and I did receive a full refund. I filed my claim on May 5th and I am still dealing with the same illness. I appreciated the no hassle process and the understanding of the rep.     On June 20, 2014, we are flying out of ORD with Delta. Delta had staff communication issues with the flight from ORD to ATL that caused us to miss our flight from ATL to SAO.     I have been using Alliance insurance for a few years, and earlier this year, decided to enroll with their yearly plan. I have had two claims in the past few years, which have been processed in a timely manner without superfluous questions. It was straight to the point and easy to follow.     My family and I had a horrible experience this past summer. While in MA for my Father's Funeral Services after his sudden passing, we received a call from home that my wife's sister suddenly passed away in her sleep at a young age. One death is a very tough thing to handle, but 2 so close together was devastating for our family. The last thing I needed was a horrible experience in now trying to get home for another Funeral.     I traveled through eleven countries over a period of four months this summer. I procured the insurance primarily to cover any medical expenses as I didn't pack much of value. (Thankfully, I had the iPad borrowed from my son on my person when the thief slipped into my room, stole my Kindle, cash, a debit card and a credit card.)     I was on a cruise to Alaska and my sister, who had been ill with cancer, developed an infection and was not doing well.     I travel overseas to visit family every couple of years so I look for best value travel insurance and do lots of comparisons; I do recommend Allianz Global Assistance Travel Insurance. I don't usually have claims, but on my last trip during a stopover in Amsterdam I had a bad fall and broke some ribs and hurt my back. My friends took me to the local hospital, but there is not much they can do for rib injuries other than give you high doses of pain killers. I had to travel on to my final destination after two days, where I spent seven weeks before returning home. Within a week I made a claim for reimbursement of my medical expenses.     First, I was pleased with the low cost of the premium for our trip policy. When we ran into several snags and delays on our trip home, I was dreading having to "try to deal with the insurance." To my very pleasant surprise, I made one call to Allianz, was assured our issues were covered by our policy, and then very easy submitted our claim online. We received payment in a very reasonable amount of time after that. I couldn't believe how easy it was, and absolutely no hassle! My only regret is that we didn't spend the time to study the limits of the policy ahead of time- we really went out of our way to choose the less expensive (and far less convenient) options for hotels, etc., when in fact our policy would have covered much more than we spent.     My husband and I booked a trip to Hawaii and purchased insurance as we had just found out we were pregnant and thought this would be a good idea just in case there were any issues that came up that would cause us to cancel our trip. Not long after that purchase, I flew to California on a work trip. During my flight there and back, I experienced severe nausea and vomiting. It was miserable and I had not had any of this throughout the pregnancy at all. I visited my doctor when I returned and he told me that due to this I should not be flying by any means as my body was not responding to the high altitude well.

    First issue, we spoke with the airline and due to us purchasing insurance, we had to file a complaint, which would in turn take 10 business days to get a response. I have flown over 100 times and not once purchased flight insurance and have had instances where we needed to change or cancel a flight. This was never as complicated as it was when dealing with this company. Second, our file was denied because my situation was classified as a "regular" pregnancy. Clearly it was not regular. I called the company and in doing so, spoke with a supervisor and explained my entire story. She told me that what my doctor wrote was not enough to get a reimbursement so I had to go back to my doctor to add more information. After I resubmitted AGAIN, it was denied because it was still classified as "regular."

    Now we are over a month past when this trip was supposed to happen and we are still dealing with the chaos. My husband called again and they said that they need MORE information in order to get reimbursed. Ok... This is absolutely ridiculous. Not only is all of this such a pain to handle for myself and my doctor, we are STILL dealing with this. We bought the tickets, we purchased insurance for this reason and experienced issues that we were advised NOT to fly for and we can't get reimbursed?

    The customer service at this company is appalling and has made it so that I will not ever recommend insurance to anyone let alone this company and I plan on never flying with their business partner Hawaiian. When there is another human life that is on the line, it shouldn't matter if there is a doctor’s note or not. If someone feels that it is unsafe to fly when they are pregnant, that should not be something that is questioned. I am so disappointed with how this has all gone down and do intend to get our flight reimbursed. This company needs to figure out what is more worth it, refunding a flight that a husband and wife would have taken if something had not come up that is a LEGITIMATE reason to cancel for, or keep the money they are so deceitfully trying to keep. Not okay.

    DO NOT TOUCH ALLIANZ GLOBAL ASSISTANCE WITH A BARGE POLE. They are just a bunch of robbers that take your money and WILL NOT PAY OUT!! I was sold this cancellation insurance by KLM airlines. I did not know who I was insured with and at NO TIME did I receive an insurance schedule or policy by email or otherwise!!

    I was unable to travel due to an accident in a service station on the way to the airport. My headlamp got damaged. KLM were up to there with their usual gold standards for service and got me on a flight for the next day at an additional cost of around £80. They told me I would be covered by the insurance and put me on to an Allianz service lady who advised me that I was covered. This was the FIRST TIME that I had heard that I was covered by an outside insurance body and had never heard of ALLIANZ till this point!!!

    The last six weeks I have been trying to get my money back. First they said I had MISSED my flight due to an accident and needed proof of the Damage and repair to the car. I said it was a headlight and we would not claim on our car insurance for this because of the excess and my son had fixed it. I told them that I had NOT MISSED MY FLIGHT as I had rung them TWO HOURS BEFORE to cancel it. They argued this point continually with me by email and a guy called Jonathan was very abrupt in his emails. Allianz then rung KLM who confirmed that I had CANCELLED my flight two hours before due to being distressed.

    Allianz then CHANGED THEIR REASON for not paying me out. They said as I had an EXISTING HEALTH PROBLEM BEING ANXIETY they could not pay me out as I should have declared this at the beginning. They sent me yet another quote clause no from the so called insurance policy!! I again told them I did NOT RECEIVE A POLICY so how would I know what I'm covered and not covered for!!! Some fat cat is getting rich with our money. They wont, I repeat, won't pay out. Dick Turpin got less for robbery. They deserve to be in Jail. I am a disabled person and all this as caused me great distress. I will be writing to omnibus and watchdog as well as BBC Dominic!! They can't get away with it for ever!!!! If Allianz Global Assistance want all this trouble for a mere £80 then that's up to them!!!

    I do fly from time to time inside and to abroad with different airlines, and I never ever before have bought an insurance protection policy, until now and it was worth it!! When I booked my trip for an unknown reason I did add the protection plan, even my wife said to me it's a waste of money, and my idea was to cancel it before the trip. So went abroad and the night before we were coming back, my Mother-in-law was sent to the hospital (she passed in the same hospital a few weeks later), so I called the airline and then the insurance company which happen to be Allianz Global assistance.

    When we finally came back into the States I filed the claim, it was so easy and I sent all the support documentation, two weeks into the process and I received a letter asking for more probes, like my CC statement showing that I paid additional for the trip and so, that was the only thing I didn't like, why they don't ask for all the paperwork from the beginning? Another two three weeks later and I received two checks for a nice amount of money covering ONLY the extra expenses for the airfare, I was told that other expenses will be cover, but not, all of them were denied, like transportation, meals, hotels, etc. Well at the end I was fine and thankful with Allianz for the money back.     Upon arrival from a long flight originating in London, UK, inclement weather in the Houston area initially delayed our flight to McAllen, TX. After waiting in airport until late in the night (about 12 am), all flights were cancelled due to inclement weather conditions. There were no blankets or area to rest in the airport, having been advised a location would be set up. Nearly all the car rental agencies were out of vehicles to rent at that hour also. We will most definitely ALWAYS procure this insurance service as a precautionary measure prior to traveling a great distance!

    Last year I planned a trip for our family for my daughter's graduation from college. We were going to take a dream trip to New York and then a Bermuda cruise.     Allianz Travel Insurance is a TOTAL RIPOFF!!! I have been purchasing this additional add on for years and years, just for a little added peace of mind. During my last trip out of the country I needed emergency dental work done. Trust me, if it wasn't an emergency I would have waited to get back to the States instead of using a Honduras dental practice. Filed a $600.00 claim, not a big dollar amount and filled out all the paperwork, submitted all the paperwork I received from the doctor and then was completely blown off by Allianz. Total run around, transfers to one place then another hours spent on the phone and getting nowhere with my simple and inexpensive claim. This place it total **! What a rip off!

    Brief summary of events: Purchased "cancel for any reason" policy through local AAA office for European Danube cruise through Viking Cruise lines. The price for this policy was $538 (7 day cruise) and included "Trip Cancellation and Interruption Protection". Due to the worst flooding in over 100 years on the Danube, the ship cruised only 2 days out of 7. The rest of the time, the ship was stuck in a safe harbor. We were bussed to a few locales, and others were canceled. Trip Interruption, right? Not according to Allianz. Since there was no "complete cessation of services for at least 24 consecutive hours", there was no trip interruption. In other words, since Viking kept feeding us, and let us sleep on board, there was no trip interruption.

    It took Allianz many months to come to this conclusion, with many attempts on my part to communicate with them. Only when I tried to escalate the matter, was I told that my claim was denied. I purchased the most expensive policy they offered, and when disaster did strike, the policy proved to be worthless. Beware of this company. They are right there to accept your money, but missing in action when you need to attempt a claim. I did not expect anything close to a full refund, just some offer of partial compensation for the part of the trip that was interrupted. That is what I thought I had purchased this very expensive insurance for.

    This is a well known company that purports to protect you when you buy a policy. Unfortunately, the company, in our experience, does not do what they claim. They did not accept collect calls from China. They did not offer to help when my wife became ill. They tell you to do what you need to do, and save receipts. They did not offer to get us a flight home, when we needed to return to the states because of medical emergency. They did not even have a working fax machine to accept the many pages of proof of illness and expense. They did not pay claims (even partially) in 10 days (claimed they were very busy). Did not pay all of the expenses submitted (i.e. ride from airport to home, as they said very sick person could have taken a bus or something). Did not pay for the taxes and surcharges from airline for flights and changes. Best suggestion, be very careful if you deal with this company

    DO NOT EVER PURCHASE FROM THIS COMPANY. While I was visiting family in New York, my grandfather got very sick and subsequently died so I cancelled my flight so I could stay for the funeral. I had purchased travel insurance because I have had bad experiences with having to cancel flights in the past and getting screwed with cancellation and change fees. So I was so relieved that this time when an emergency came up, I had thought ahead to purchase insurance. Instead, right after my grandfather’s death I had to run around tracking down doctors to get numerous forms filled out and submitted to the claim. Finally, I submitted all of my information and waited for a response.

    A month later, I got tired of waiting and called the insurance company, only to be told that my claim had been denied a few weeks ago (they never got around to sending the letter to me) because of a “pre-existing condition”. I can assure you my grandfather’s death was not a pre-existing condition. Death in the family was one of the things covered under this policy, yet my claim was still denied even after I complained about it. This insurance is nothing but a scam and a waste of money. NEVER TRUST ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY.

    I purchased a travel insurance policy for myself and another one for my wife to cover a trip to see my ailing grandmother. Honestly, I got the policy because there was a chance she could pass away while I was visiting and I would have to extend my stay. Unfortunately, this was exactly what happened. The airline charged me for the difference in fare when I changed my ticket, along with exorbitant change fees. They completely refused to provide any consideration despite the extenuating circumstances.

    When I called Allianz to ask them what to do, they were understanding, courteous, and helpful. I was able to fill out a claim online (quick process) and upload my documentation. I had to provide the obit and/or death certificate, which seemed completely reasonable. It took a couple of weeks for Allianz to review the claim, and a couple more to get the check, but everything was completely smooth. I had only expected to be refunded for the change fees, but they also refunded the fare difference. The only snag was that I had to fill out another separate claim for my wife after the first one was complete, but that was my fault because I had purchased her ticket and policy separately. That claim went smoothly too.

    From now on, I will probably always purchase Allianz travel insurance whenever I fly if there's any chance a major event could happen (which is almost always). With airlines becoming less and less accommodating in just about every way, it's becoming more and more important. Thanks, Allianz!

    I must say first that I would recommend this company to anyone seeking travel insurance. The service I had was excellent on the phone and the website claims process simple. When it became obvious that I would have to make a claim I expected to get a lot of questions as even I had doubts that the policy would cover the particular circumstances I was facing. I called and the person on the phone quickly told me that the circumstances were covered. She told me what documentation I would need to support the claim and exactly how to get the claim submitted.

    I went to the website, filled out the form, which was straightforward and uncomplicated, attached the additional documentation I had been told I would need and hit the button. Received immediate notification that the claim was being processed and a few weeks later, with no further questions or complications, a check for the full amount arrived in the mail. Unfortunately while in Paris, France, my wife became very ill and we had to come back from Paris instead of Milan.     When I purchased my ticket to fly round trip to Texas, I bought Allianz Global Travel Insurance. I bought my ticket three months in advance and because of my age, I thought something might happen before I could take the trip.     My husband and I had scheduled a cruise to South Pacific from Atlanta, Georgia. As always, we planned on purchasing our travel insurance through the cruise line even though over 40 years of travel we have never made a claim. We believe travel insurance is in our estimation one of the most important parts of the trip. Our travel agent suggested we take insurance from Allianz Insurance suggesting if nothing else we would see a huge difference in the cost for the same or better coverage.

    We took Allianz Insurance at about a 45% reduced cost with superior coverage. Towards the end of our 3-week trip, I developed Bronchitis and became very ill. I went to the ship's hospital, was treated and handed a very large bill charged to my room account. In speaking to the ship's concierge, he said he knew of my insurance coverage and contacted Allianz Insurance from the ship. An account was immediately set up, we were told to call Allianz as soon as we arrived home and keep all documentation.

    We called Allianz Insurance from home and was given very simple instructions to follow, basically send all documentation pertaining to the illness and any out of pocket expenses including missed tours. We would be notified and receive approved payment in about 4 weeks. A few days later we were called and told we were approved and about 3 weeks later received a check for ALL expenses and cost related to the illness.     I was very pleased with Allianz. I had purchased the policy before traveling to Peru primarily because of my husband. Never did I think that I would be the one to have a medical emergency that prevented us from continuing on our journey. We flew from Myrtle Beach to Fort Lauderdale and had a six hour layover before continuing on to Lima, Peru. As the plane descended, I had terrible pain in my ears and by the time we landed, I couldn't hear. When we went to an urgent care clinic in Florida, it was determined that I not only had bulging eardrums, but my blood pressure, which have never been a problem, was dangerously high. The doctor said I would risk rupturing my eardrums if I continue on to Peru, and he would admit me to the hospital if he didn't see my blood pressure go down after giving me medication. He made me lay down for two hours before I was allowed to leave.

    I purchased Allianz trip protection prior to taking a cruise in February 2014. I stepped on something while on the trip and had to go to the ship doctor to have it removed. I called Allianz when the cruise was over and opened a claim and to my surprise I was instructed to file the claim with my own insurance first. I did so and it was rejected and then I filed with Allianz and the claim was paid promptly. A month or so later I received a lawyer’s letter saying they had been hired by Allianz to try and recover the amount of the claim from my insurance company and if I received a check I was to sign it over to them and not keep it. This whole scenario took from Feb 15th to June 10th when I received the lawyer’s letter. I do not think anyone has the right to go back to my insurance company and try to collect a claim that was previously rejected. I would also only use an insurance company in the future that is the "first" payer not requiring me to go to my insurance company. After all, the Allianz was expensive and was purchased for protection during the cruise.

    When making air reservations for my last vacation, Allianz Global Assistance insurance was offered. The premium was so affordable, that I got the insurance for my husband and myself. Little did I know, I would be filing a claim due to illness on my vacation. I was so pleasantly surprised by the way I was treated by the reps on the phone. They could not have been nicer or more helpful in helping me fill out the claim form and answering all my questions.     In early December, while signing up to run a marathon, I noticed the link for Allianz's event insurance. I've never bought insurance for a race, but I figured, why not? Well, the unthinkable did happen, I was badly burned and unable to train for the race. I called Allianz with some questions, and the person I spoke to was both compassionate and helpful.     My Wife and I bought Round trip Tickets from Washington DC's Dulles International Airport to the West Coast on the internet. As I was paying for the tickets by Credit Card, a pop-up add for Allianz asked if I wanted to buy TRIP INSURANCE. I bought the Allianz trip Insurance. When we had to cancel our flight because I had a serious health problem...losing money on cancelled flights were the least of our worries.     Each time we've purchased insurance through Allianz, the personnel were extremely friendly and helpful. There was never a claim until this year, when my husband caught a bad cold on board ship and had to see the doctor. He was treated and the bill was charged to our cabin bill. After returning home, I called Allianz on 3/19/14, spoke with Carlos and filed a claim, were given a claim number, and told how to proceed. We received a check dated 4/11/14 for the full amount.

    I never expected the experience to be so easy with no hassles about when he might have gotten the cold, etc. and then full reimbursement for the medical expenses. We will use Allianz in the future, knowing that we really are covered and they will help you file a claim and not either deter you or make you wait forever for reimbursement.     We took out the insurance for our flight to Colorado Springs in December - we were due to come home mid-January and shortly after New Year’s we got word that a family member in NJ had passed away.     We have purchased Allianz Travel policies in the past through United and Delta Airlines, but this year was the first time we tried making a claim. One leg of our flight to Italy was cancelled due to bad weather, and we had to fly in/out of an airport a couple of hours away. Because of this, we had to pay to park our vehicle for 18 days instead of having a friend drop us off. We found a stay/park option at a hotel near the airport that proved to be cheaper than paying to park at the airport.

    When we got home from our trip, I filed a claim for the cost of the hotel (I didn't save any gas receipts, otherwise I would have included this in the cost of the claim). Less than one week later, I received a check in the mail for the cost of the hotel. I was very pleased with the ease in filing a claim and in the speed everything was handled.
