I had bought my travel insurance plan on Dec 5 - May 10. I was flying from North Carolina to California and from there I went to Australia. While in California I was on the price is right and I slipped while being on the show and tore my ACL. I was in a enormous amount of pain and I notified Allianz Global Assistance soon after, when I had gotten to Australia to tell them I would be going to the doctor. I went and received a MRI which showed I had a torn ACL, and I called Allianz to tell them I needed surgery. Allianz said, "We are not covering **." I had no other insurance at the time, so now I was stuck in another country with no health insurance and Allianz telling me to ** myself. It was one of the scariest situations I've ever been in and at a time when I needed my insurance to be there for me they bent me over a barrel. And now my other ACL is tearing because it's have to over compensate for the torn one. NEVER BUY ALLIANZ INSURANCE.

I was recently on a Hawaiian vacation when I experienced a medical complication that forced me to cut my trip short and I had to leave in the middle of my week of vacation. The airline wanted a large change fee and the hotel was a non-refundable package. These unexpected changes cost me hundreds of dollars. I contacted Allianz and was given instructions on what I needed to do regarding documentation for a claim to be processed for reimbursement. After my initial call, over the next couple of days I received follow up phone calls from Allianz customer service reps asking if there was anything else they could help me with. I followed their instructions to the letter regarding proper documentation for reimbursement. When I got home I submitted all needed forms and was notified about 10 days later that the claim had been paid in full and the check was on its way to me. I am very satisfied with my association with Allianz.
I am writing this because I read online reviews about other people's experiences with Allianz before I purchase my insurance. People usually don't take time to commend good customer service, they just post when they have a complaint. Well I am a happy customer and will use them again in the future as well as recommend them to friends. I found that if you follow the claim requirements diligently, they fulfill the obligation completely. I think that the reviews that were negative were probably because those people did not follow protocol regarding all proper documentation needed to process their claim.

After being displaced from my home due to the recent flooding in Charleston and an emergency spleen removal surgery for my dog, I could no longer afford tickets for a concert previously purchased. I thought, "Thank goodness for the ticket insurance I paid for". I was still not able to use my event ticket insurance from Allianz when trying to file a claim. They never called me back and were incredibly unresponsive and unhelpful. A waste of money and time and I'll never use them for any type of insurance again.

This travel insurance is worthless. The vague policy that is furnished to the consumer is vastly different than what is advertised when evaluating the purchase. I provided a well-documented claim and was denied. An appeal that cited the specific language of the policy was denied as well. The circumstances similar to a claim I made several years ago to another carrier, CSA. In contrast, CSA was helpful and prompt in resolving the situation. I was directed to Allianz through the United Airlines website. I wish I would have read what was published on many forums before I effected the purchase. Don't waste your money like I did.

Don't waste money with this fraudulent company. I missed a flight on a trip to Peru on the day the East coast had a blackout. I had two hotel stays, an extra flight, and missed one day of the trip. I had documented bills of $700 but they paid only $100 which incidentally was the cost of the insurance. The fine print protects them from actually providing insurance. This company is a poor reflection on Delta with whom it has a financial arrangement.

One month before my 12 month waiting period was over, doctors found an abnormal growth that had to be removed. Doctors advised that I had to get it done as soon as possible so that the growth would not turn cancerous. We paid for the procedure upfront in hopes that Allianz would cover us. 5 months later and numerous calls (all with a hold time of 30 minutes or more) and constant emails asking for more documentation and we still have no resolution. To top it off every time we call the notes on our file are never accurate. I'm a medical student with a child and money is tight and I'd like my claim to be paid. This has been by far the worst experience I've ever had with any company. I'm flabbergasted at the amount of stress and incompetence I have encountered. I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone I know.

I broke my arm and was unable to travel to Oaxaca, MX in late April. I began trying to get a refund through Aeromexico and then through the Allianz travel insurance. That was started June 1. It is now Oct 4 and there have been 73 emails and constant frustration over this. I have had 6 “International Case Managers”, constant requests for the SAME information over and over again. I have a folder almost 2 inches thick of paperwork they have required. I realize there might be a little language barrier, but did I really have to tell them that “fracture” was the same as “break”?
I finally thought it was over when I got the following email on Sept 9: “We would like to inform you that your claim process was successful and you shall be receiving your reimbursement between the 15th and 19th of September.” Well, it is Oct 4 and no money yet! Three more emails to ask the status and 'silence'. I am convinced that these clerks are instructed to do whatever it takes to deny a claim or stall and hassle the customer until they give up. I do not give up! $586 is a lot of money to me.

We are in Spain and my wife is sick. We are staying in a hotel and there is no easy way to get help from Allianz. There is only an international number that supposedly you can call collect but they don't let you place collects calls from the hotel. We finally had to call paying 7 dollars a minute. We called Allianz in Spain and they can't help us because we purchased the policy in the USA.
We finally called the number in the USA and in the middle of the conversation and after we have given the name of the hotel where we are staying we got disconnected and nobody called us back. So my advice is don't buy Allianz Travel Insurance if you are traveling internationally, they are not prepared to help you, they don't even have a chat, they don't respond the emails promptly. Really disappointing.

Missed our connecting flight in Charlotte, NC due to weather here in Atlanta. Filed a claim for missed connection coverage which was then denied on that cause because the FAA ruled the delay was due to air traffic delay. Well sure the weather created a traffic delay. A consequence, not a cause. Company refused to settle on missed connection which would have covered about $800 of prepaid cruise expenses. Insisted on settlement under a trip delay which only paid $150 each. The policy language did not advise who [FAA] is responsible for determining weather delays. We feel cheated and will never use this company again!

In June, I purchased two first class tickets from Orlando to Maui for our 40th wedding anniversary on the American Airlines website. Booking the trip was challenging as I have some health issues that make travel difficult. For that reason I needed both the first class seat for the comfort and ability to move around as well as only one airport stop to make the trip as short and easy as possible. I purchased the Trip Protection insurance to try and protect my $4500 investment in case there were problems. We were eagerly anticipating the trip and knew that it would be our last time to be able to get to Hawaii which we dearly love.
On the morning of the trip we got up at 4 a.m. to get to the airport for our 7:30 flight. There was a message on my husband's cell advising us that there would be a delay of our outbound flight. We were advised to call the airport to begin making other arrangements. We did call the airline and were left on hold for the entire trip to the airport... over 1.5 hours. When we arrived at the airport we were given new tickets. These new tickets required that we fly from Orlando to Phoenix and then to LAX and then to Maui. My planning specifically avoided LAX as it is a difficult airport to navigate. Further we were placed in Coach for the Phoenix to LA piece. The changes in our flight were going to delay us in excess of 6 hours from when we planned to arrive. This would mean we had no room to check in to in Maui as our small inn closes the front desk at 8.
We discussed our options at the airport and decided we could not make the trip under the current circumstances. We were heartbroken. The supervisor at the airline advised us that we should not have any problem getting a refund given that the delay was in excess of 6 hours. We came home and I filed a claim. Today we were told that our claim was denied as our trip was not delayed by more than 24 hours. The policy clearly states that delays over 6 hours are compensable.
Now, I am out the 4500 for the tickets and insurance as well as 450 for the room deposit we lost. We also then had to find a place closer to home to celebrate our anniversary and had expenses associated with that. Since we didn't have time to "shop around" those expenses were higher than they should have been. What is the purpose of buying insurance if the plan is not to pay all along? I should have saved my money and at least I would be out a few hundred less. I work in insurance and know the game very well. However, I also know that the companies I work with are ethical and reasonable and do not take people's suffering lightly. Whatever you do, don't buy this insurance. It is a huge waste of time and money.

Allianz Comprehensive Travel Insurance is a SCAM! Comprehensive... more like ultra-limited insurance. So much fine print it's actually a joke. One part said - baggage cannot be left in a vehicle. Travel is done in VEHICLES ie. planes, trains and cars... No point of even buying this. If you file your claim outside the 24 hour period of the time of theft/loss, your claim is automatically dismissed. Even if you are traveling for that whole period.
This company is a pain in the ass. Even to long paying customers. Very happy to take your money, impossible to claim any money from these scum bags. If you do happen to get any money back, it's usually money they extract from other parties i.e the place you lost it, or the carrier you were on. Scam. I filed a claim with the police department where my phone was lost/stolen. Apparently, you cannot make a claim without the serial number of your phone?! Who carries the serial number of their phone around? Will make a mission making sure this company gets no business from any people in my network.

I cancelled my return fight home after my father's oncologist said my father didn't have long to live. I purchased travel ins offered by Allianz when I purchased my on-line airline tickets. When I made my reservations, I knew my father was sick, but I did not know he was dying. I expected to visit him for two weeks and then return home.
My request for a refund was denied by a rep in the Travel Claims Dept who stated their insurance does not cover "pre-existing" conditions. A pre-existing condition is defined by "any illness/injury that a person was seeking or receiving treatment for or had symptoms of on the day the insurance was purchased, or at any time in the 120 days before it was purchased."
I sent an appeal stating the "pre-existing" information is not listed when clicking the box for travel insurance, but my appeal was denied by Brian **, Claims Escalation Examiner. He stated I received an email from Allianz at the time I purchased airline tickets stating I had a 10 day "free-look" period and my email didn't bounce so they know I received it. Upon reading the email Mr. ** referred to, I clicked on the link to Allianz's website, but had to dig to find the coverage information which is in their Q&A section. I wasn't the patient, I completed the refund forms properly and I purchased travel ins. in good faith. Allianz's competitor, Aon Affinity, refunded my husband's return flight (he flew out a few days after I did) with the same set of circumstances. We believe Allianz's airline insurance is deceptive and is not consumer-friendly.

I called Global Allianz yesterday and they informed me that they could not find my policy in their system, with my tracking number fully printed on my booking papers. The guy talked to me about Sky something that I was not involved with at all. He asked me for a doctor's certificate that does not exist since Claudette did not use a doctor for that.
I really feel Global Allianz are crooks trying not to reimburse me. I paid $128.48 for my insurance that they don't honour at all. It's giving a very bad image to Expedia too since they referred Global Allianz to me. I will never use Expedia again neither Global Allianz. They are on my blacklist. Avoid them at any price! The physician filled out the claim form for this insurance company and stated that I should not have even tried to go on the trip. I filed the claim and it was denied. They stated that the reason was because I did not see someone within 72 hrs and that I should have gone to the emergency room.
I did not go to an emergency room due to the cost associated and the Required Documentation from this insurance company did not say anything about seeing a doctor within 72 hrs, only that you needed a completed physician Statement Form. Concluding from the number of negative reviews and my own experience this insurance company is a scam and should not used. Last year I purchased travel insurance from Allianz for two airline tickets several months in advance of the date of travel (Oct 3, 2014). Unfortunately, I lost my job in July 2014 and when I tried to get reimbursement from Allianz, the agent acted like he did not wish to be bothered and sent me documents to fill out. I could not get additional support documents from my previous employer and had to drop the application for reimbursement. I had the letter of termination and unemployment notice that all showed loss of job but Allianz insisted on getting additional documents from employer that I was unable to get. To me it seems, Allianz would do everything at their disposal to deny a claim. United Airlines is also a partner in crime as it tacks Allianz to its ticket sales. I had an idea that I would probably need to cancel it for a conflict with a work travel, so I purchased the insurance, thinking that if that happen, I would not have a headache getting a refund. They have it displayed on Delta's website: "Why Trip Protection? Get it for: Travel cancellation or interruption coverage, Emergency medical and dental coverage, 24-hour emergency assistance anywhere in the world." There is a contract with terms and conditions attached to the receipt AFTER you already have purchased, and all written in minuscule/small barely readable letters (of course).
Well, time is here and I did need to cancel it as I expected. Called these guys today, and they refused to refund my money saying that a cancellation for the reason I mentioned here was not included in the contract. I just think they should not display any information giving the client the idea that it would be headache free cancellation. They should inform the client better. The lack of clear information just cost me $ 400.00 which I am getting $180 from Delta. A total disrespect with the customer. DO NOT purchase the insurance. Save yourself some time and money on dealing with these guys. Total rip off! I will spread the news all over my company and co-workers about not dealing with them. I purchased a trip for my parents to visit me from Brazil from March 17th through August 26th through United Airlines. Since they are 70 years old, I decided to purchase a travel insurance in case of any emergencies. One month after their arrival, my father noticed blood and pain during urination. I contacted the insurance and they inform me on how to proceed. The test result accused an infection and the presence of blood. I filed a claim and receive the payment for it.
Since he was still experiencing pain during urination and blood was still present in his urine he went back to the clinic a twice within a 2 month period. I have submitted both receipts, and have contacted the insurance numerous times and no concrete answer was given to me. On July 20th an representative from the claims department told me that I needed to submit his proof of residency and I would receive an answer within 10 business days. Today I called and the representative said that he did not get reimbursed because the insurance does not pay for follow up visits. I asked agent to point that out where the exclusion is listed and after being on hold for over 20 minutes she said that it falls under "palliative care" on section 6.
The definition of Palliative care is specialized medical care for people with serious illnesses. It focuses on providing patients with relief from the symptoms and stress of a serious illness. The goal is to improve quality of life for both the patient and the family. It is my understanding that having an urine infection and blood in your urine during your vacation when you are 70 years old qualifies for an emergency as it needs immediate attention. He didn't go back to the doctor to do a CAT scan, or MRI, or an ultrasound. He was not here to treat a disease, and this insurance was purchased to be used during an emergency. I have purchased this insurance quite a few times and just never needed to use it. Definitely after this lengthy fiasco I will never use you again and will make sure that none of my loved ones spend their earned money on it.

ALLIANZ INSURANCE via HOTWIRE... People, anyone trying to save money by buying Allianz Insurance through Hotwire, PLEASE DON'T. This insurance company is a nightmare. Instead buy expensive insurance from the rental company itself. Had a month and half long business trip and I purchased Allianz Insurance for a rental car. The vehicle collided with a pillar while coming out of a parking lot and I had the vehicle repaired with my own dime because I was on the road. Submitted the claim...
No one from Allianz ever gave me a call or sent a mail regarding necessary documentations. I researched and supplied the info on my own. 2 months later... CLAIM DECLINED. Why?? "You should have reported the incident to the car company even after having the car repaired." WOW... And the rental car company would have posted another bill on me with hypothetical issues in the car.
I have worked in insurance myself and know for a fact that if you return the car with damage to the car company, they inflate the cost exorbitantly, which is then rejected by insurance company. And so 2 months later you get a notice from the rental company as they are demanding money which insurance company will not pay. So now you not only have the cost of damaged car on your head, but a lawsuit as well. I am not trying to defraud anyone. I work hard to earn my money. The limit for damage insurance is 40k... I am asking for my 3500 only... Have provided check image from my bank with account and routing number, images of the car, rental agreement, declaration that due to being on the road I couldn't inform the rental company in 24 hours of the damage, damage report from the repair center and the invoice.

I sent everything asked for and more (which cost me $28 in fax fees at FedEx) but found out about a week or two later that my claim had been denied because mental illness was not covered under my policy.
Granted it was written on one of the very last pages of my policy and in small print, it was still there. I suppose it's my own stupidity for not reading the fine print, however, I am SEVERELY disappointed to find out that they do not cover diagnosable mental illness, as a disease of the brain is just the same as a broken leg or a heart attack. They are all sicknesses which cannot be controlled or predicted. This company seems to exclude more things from coverage than it includes. For this reason, I would not recommend this travel insurance.

When flying from Miami to Costa Rica the pilot ran the plane off the runway when taking off damaging the nose gear. I was supposed to arrive in Costa Rica at 9:27am to make an appointment for a medical procedure at noon. However, because of the the delay, I didn't make it to my destination until well after 4:00pm thus missing my appointment. It cost me the loss of a day plus an extra night in a hotel but Allianz rejected my claim.
I have been purchasing travel insurance from them for years thinking that I was well covered for such events but believe me when I tell you, you are not covered. I travel overseas a minimum of three times a year and this was the very first time I had to make a claim for losses. Allianz looks for every excuse it can to deny your claim, and the representative I spoke to was very rude. I will never depend upon them again. My wife had just finished a year plus of treatment for a life threatening disease. We made plans for a trip to begin about forty days after all treatment ended. Naturally we chose to take out travel insurance on the American Airlines site, at the same time as the ticket purchase. We had never taken out insurance before. Well Allianz has done just about anything possible to prevent this claim from being paid. And they conveniently exclude any coverage for conditions that exist 120 days prior to the trip, WHICH IS WHY THE FIRST TWO POSITIVE REVIEWS ARE FALSE. Allianz should be shut down by congress or a good class action lawsuit should be filed. Like we wanted to cancel a dream vacation so that we could collect travel insurance. Why would anyone take out travel insurance from Allianz for? They STINK.

After booking the trip we found out that her grandmother would need additional assistance. We would have to move our trip by a day to help. Allianz decided to reject our claim because my wife's grandmother had the stroke before I booked the trip. I find this to be ridiculous and can't believe a company would promote such terrible customer service. They would not help us at all and were not willing to do anything. The customer service that was on display in this situation was unacceptable and they just did not care. I will never use them again. The charge for this purchase was processed through my account the same day. However I did not receive the promised Letter of Confirmation or the policy documents. Three times now I have contacted the Customer Service of Allianz Global Assistance to request the policy documents. With each request I have pointed out that I am seeking the policy documents for the planned November 2 travel.
I have emphasized the November date and each time I have listed the specific amount paid for the November travel. Three times now I have been sent the documents for another insured trip scheduled for July 25 with a totally different charge. Allianz staff seem to be unable to read or understand the information I send them. Apart from my processed credit card charge I have no proof that I have travel insurance for November.

I purchased plane tickets as a gift for my mother and grandmother to later find out that my grandmother was unable to fly. I purchased my mother's ticket so that she could accompany my grandmother. I submitted a Physician's Statement and was denied. Again, since this was a gift, I was not aware of certain conditions my Nana had since she was recently told she could not fly at all. I contacted a representative who was not very understanding, and sounded as if he was just reading the computer and stated I will not receive any monies for both of tickets.
I have since resubmitted a new Physician's form and am awaiting a response but I am not holding my breath. I have always used CheapTickets and for the first time I used this insurance since again, it was a gift purchase. I can honestly say I am disappointed and will unfortunately, not purchase tickets through CheapTickets since they utilize Allianz as their insurance. I just filed a claim that was automatically denied. The whole reason why I paid $146 to this company was because I was worried that I would have to cancel and reschedule my flight which I did. Now this company tells me that "personal" reasons are not covered under their insurance policies...very, very shameful. I'm sure the majority of the people who buy insurance, they do so because of canceling and rescheduling issues. So, a warning to whoever is reading this, if you get insurance because you are worried that you might have to cancel your plane trip or reschedule then DO NOT buy insurance from these people because they will not cover it.
I've talked to 3 different people and it's like they're programmed robots who are only trained to DENY CLAIMS. I've also read plenty of reviews on other places about Allianz denying their claims because they were hospitalized and missed their flight. I will email my attorney general in a week or so if I can't settle this matter with Allianz (which I know I won't). BUYER BEWARE. Oh I should also mentioned since I called them up and tried to file the claim which was DENIED the insurance I have with them is no longer good. Isn't that a shame? You file a claim, they deny it, and to put salt on the wound they cancel the policy as well.

Dear Muhammad, I'm sorry that the insurance didn't provide the coverage you needed. We want our customers to make an informed decision about the policy they buy, which is why, based on your state of residence, you have 10 days or more to review your policy. If you find that it doesn't provide the benefits you need, we will refund your entire premium, as long as you haven't left on your trip or filed a claim. I went to a dermatologist who took one look and referred me to a plastic surgeon for immediate removal which required minor surgery as well as stitches both inside and outside of the wound and 4 follow up visits. I filed all documentation required in a timely manner.
On 13 May 2015 I received a letter saying "an explanation of benefits from your primary and/or supplemental health insurer" was required which I had previously submitted twice before and that my request (i.e., my claim) was CLOSED. The law in Missouri states that she cannot drive for a period of 6 months after the latest episode. My wife is an officer in the United States military and pregnant. She is working full time to serving her country and it upsets me to see products such as Allianz taking advantage of a "loophole" in their policy to make a profit.
The insurance was purchased on April 26 with the diagnosis on May 22. She had no idea what was going on with her body until that day on May 22. However, Allianz is denying the claim and refusing to refund her money because their stated policy. The policy is obviously not clear and this is obviously an exception to any stated policy. Don't waste your money! I purchased their travel insurance to cover a flight for a family emergency. 2 days after booking the flight, the emergency was resolved and as such I didn't need to take the flight. I filed the claim and uploaded the supporting documentation as REQUIRED, but after review they denied my claim. What is the point of trip insurance if you can't use it!? Here is their 'excuse':
"Thank you for choosing Allianz Global Assistance to protect your recent travel investment. We are sorry that your travel experience did not go as planned. We have completed our review of your claim, and unfortunately are unable to provide benefits under the coverage you purchased because: You aren't covered for any loss that results directly or indirectly from any mental or nervous health disorders (like anxiety, depression, neurosis, psychosis and others), or any related physical complications if they affect you, a traveling companion or a family member, whether the family member is traveling with you or not. Based on the claim documents you submitted, we regret that we are unable to honor your claim."
So, the fact that my family member is ok means that to me losing the price of a ticket was worth it. But this company did NOT support me when I needed them to...and that means I will never buy into them again and strongly discourage anyone I know that is considering it. As a member of the military I will also be reporting their behavior to lobby for this company to be banned for military personnel. If they can't support us, I can't condone supporting them. I am disappointed and hope that I might spare others a greater expense or a false sense of security. BUYER BEWARE!

I can't tell you how happy I have been with Allianz Insurance. My daughter pointed out to me I wasn't getting any younger and perhaps I should consider having travel insurance. I have used it two or three times and have only needed it once... If I had not had insurance, I would have never been able to replace that vacation. Where $1500-$2000 may not be a big deal to some people, it is for me and something I have to save a while to be able to take, so when I got sick and 8 hours before getting on a plane had to cancel my trip, I was heartbroken... luckily for the insurance, I will be able to replace that trip and take it again. I will never travel without insurance again!! Also, ya'll made it very easy to use and every time I have called, everyone has been especially friendly. Thank you so much!!

We are frequent cruisers. No matter if we book through the cruise line, or independently, we always purchase 3rd party insurance to cover our air only since we always pay for our air at the time of booking. In researching many 3rd parties, we have found Allianz to be extremely fair in pricing along with providing adequate coverage that meets our needs. In December of 2013 and August of 2014 we had to cancel 2 different flights. One itinerary was to San Juan and the second was to Barcelona. Both times the reason for cancellation was due to my husband being admitted to the hospital for an extended stay with no travel allowed once released.
The reps at Allianz were very kind and compassionate to me both times. They walked me through the process and the claim forms were emailed promptly. After supplying all the necessary documentation required, we were refunded the complete cost of both of our flights. Adding Allianz on to our flights just gives us some reassurance that if anything goes wrong, we will be covered. We would highly recommend Allianz to anyone that needs additional insurance.

The person I spoke with from Allianz was very nice, but seemed to be reading from a "script" and it became a little frustrating trying to get through to him what happened, and I kept getting the same answers. When I got the paperwork, I filled out everything, got the info they needed, and within a short time, received all my money back! Without going into too much detail about my trip, I too purchased Allianz Travel Insurance. Flight was supposed to depart on 3/24/14. Well the plane had mechanical difficulties and was postponed 4 hours, thus creating a domino effect for my other three connecting flights and resulting in missing my first day at my Hotel. This same scenario happened on my return flight and resulted in missing two days of work. As stated by the other reviews, I submitted certified documentation from the airline and Hotels outlining why the flight was delayed and having to pay for the first night at my Hotel. I submitted ALL the necessary documentation... and was denied. WHY? because Allianz stated that the entire Airline industry has to be shut down as a whole for 24 hrs in order to be covered... and the Hotel itself has to have been shut down, burned down or swept away away by the sea to be considered for any type of reimbursement...
OH MY GAWD... WTF. Allianz is very misleading in their coverages and a total scam and rip-off. Never will I purchase Allianz Insurance again. I love having the peace of mind with this insurance in case my flight gets canceled, delayed, and being in the military, sometimes I may need to change plans rapidly. I have only needed to use once but that experience makes me always request the service. I will never take a trip without this services.

Beware of the Allianz travel insurance offer from JetBlue which is the height of deception. No matter what happens, Allianz will NEVER refund more than the JetBlue change/cancellation fees for the flights. I purchased Allianz travel insurance from JetBlue in 2013 for over $3000 worth of airline tickets for a family vacation. Sadly, we needed to cancel the trip because for medical reasons. When I filed a claim, Allianz would only refund the $600 cancellation fees because as JetBlue offers a one year credit for the balance it is not considered, by Allianz, to be a loss. I will never deal with Allianz again for any reason and will not be flying JetBlue unless there are no other options!

My flight was canceled due to weather. All substitute flights were full. Would have had to wait in airport 2 to 3 days for a available flight so I booked a flight on another airline to get home. Allianz will not pay for the new flight because our original airline did offer us another flight even though it was full. This falls under the one line in the contract - YOUR TRAVEL SUPPLIER DOESN'T OFFER YOU A SUBSTITUTE ITINERARY. Even though there was no room on the substitute flight, they did offer standby which releases Allianz from paying any claim. Does this sound like a rip-off?

Bought the insurance at the time of purchasing cruise tickets, 6 month prior planned trip. I bought it in case my travel plans had to be canceled due to sickness or death of a family member. My father became very ill 2 weeks prior my vacation so I had to cancel my cruise due to his illness and started making plans to go and take care of him. Unfortunately 1 week later, he passed away and I had to travel to another continent to arrange his funeral.
Upon returning I emailed required documentation such as insurance claim, death certificate and e-tickets. They never called me or emailed me their final decision, I had to contact them myself. They decided to not reimburse me for my cruise; the reasoning was that my flight itinerary did not happen on the exact day of my planned trip (I was 2 days off). I've learned my lesson: never buy anything from Allianz. They will always find a loophole and the customer will always lose. It is a business after all and they are here to make money. You or I, the little people, don't count. Just remember, next time you are about to travel with Allianz make sure that if any of your loved ones get sick or die, they do it on the exact dates of your planned trip, or your claim is denied.

I had a bike accident while vacationing in Hawaii. Alllianz was completely cooperative in the handling of my claim for transportation to the ER and for the treatment I received there as well. My primary insurance covered none of this medical treatment, so I was elated that Allianz stepped up the plate & did what they had promised in my policy. Customer service was very helpful, and the payments arrived promptly. So very glad I had signed up for this insurance when I purchased the airline tickets!!

While traveling in Italy I developed an irregular heart rhythm which caused myself and my wife to miss a day trip we had paid for. I submitted a claim for reimbursement of the non-refundable $400 spent as per the policy. Every time I contact Allianz they ask for more documentation. I have submitted EKG reports, doctors evaluations, receipts, bills both from doctors contacted in Italy and at home within a few days of returning. So far I have received nothing but a run-around. The latest is that they want a doctor in Italy to write them a letter describing why my condition prevented me from making the trip. This is not insurance it's a scam. I have contacted a lawyer I know in their home state of Virginia to do what is necessary to collect what I am owed. It is not a matter of the money at this point but a matter of principle. I usually travel 4-5 times a year and always insured my trips with Allianz. Never again.

I was unable to go on the trip because I was hospitalized due to a new illness. I sent in all the paper work as requested, but it did not suffice, so I sent more paperwork. My claim was denied because they considered my illness a pre-existing condition. However, the hospital discharge form clearly stated that it was not. I will not use this agency again, and will make to spread awareness among my peers.

My father was admitted to the hospital with Dx of COPD and was dying. I contacted the company and was told no problem to have physician fill out aps form and fax it in. My father's primary cause of death was his COPD however his secondary Dx was dementia. I was told by customer service that they cover no mental health issues at all. Nowhere on the website did it state this however they said they had sent me an email which I did not get. I called customer service and just kept getting the run around. I even ask for a copy of that email to be re-sent and was told that wasn't possible. I will never deal with company again.

I signed up for Allianz and verified that I would be able to use them if I needed to cancel my flight. When I went to do so, since I was no longer able to travel, I filed a claim with them. Waiting without any response, I went to the online ticketing system to see what was going on and the claim was denied without even communicating with me, despite me uploading all of the proper documentation. I then called to see what was going on and they said they would not approve my claim. I asked them why and they said that it was not covered. However, when I looked up the contract my situation was not outlined in it (which is why I verified it in the first place). They referred back to something that has absolutely nothing to do with my situation because it was the closest thing they could find. I asked them what documentation I needed in order to make my claim file. They told me there was nothing I could give them. So basically, they took my money, did not give me time to find ulterior methods to use my flight since they never bothered to contact me and are laughing all the way to the bank. I would NEVER recommend this insurance company and believe that the radiant reviews from other people are probably fake.

The costs of our missed flight was quickly paid. It worked just as it was intended and we will continue to purchase from Allianz.

I was truly pleased with the courtesy and understanding your company showed in a critical situation. My sister-in-law invited my husband and I for a week in a beach house in Grand Cayman Island. My husband has been fighting a serious disease for a year and a half. Plans were made and paid for by January. John went for a C.T. Scan of his neck and chest. The radiologist didn't like what she saw. He had major brain surgery the week before the trip. Needless to say, I had to think of all the phone calls to make and cancel our trip. I called Allianz second. I spoke with a young man who was very patient with me. I'm at my husband's hospital bedside, writing all the codes of cancellations. The emails back and forth were easy to understand and in no time, we received our check for the exact amount we spent. We have made the same plans this year, with Allianz again. We pray our plans are not cancelled, but we can be rest assured, that I picked the best flight insurance.

My luggage was damaged on a trip I took on Dec. 6th on United Airlines. I had purchased your insurance policy, receiving a Letter of Confirmation, along with a Certificate of Insurance outlining the coverage. I filed a damaged baggage report with United, and uploaded this and a photo of my damaged bag, when filing a claim (# ** ). I was just notified that my claim was denied as I do not have 'damaged baggage' coverage, only delayed baggage coverage. I purchased the exact same policy through your company on a flight earlier this year. Unfortunately, United damaged my luggage on this trip, and I filed a similar claim (# ** ). This claim was paid without any issue.
I am now being told by supervisor ** that my policy does not cover baggage damage, even though I have the Certificate on Insurance which describes this coverage on Page 9. He told me the original claim was paid in error - which is outrageous to hear as a customer. I believe that this is false advertising to a customer. You are misleading the customer to believe that we do have this coverage when you issue the Certificate of Insurance. The fact that this is the exact same incidence that happened to me in July 2014, and the claim was paid, proves to me this current claim should also be paid.
I am extremely angry about how this is being handled and believe this is misrepresentation. I am prepared to report this to the NJ Department of Banking and Insurance to investigate, if I do not receive a response from someone with authority to get this rectified. While I was applauding your services in July, I am one very disappointed and angry customer in Dec., who will be sharing my experience with others so that they do not purchase this insurance.

I'm sorry to hear about your recent experience. As I can't take your personal information in this public forum, please email your claim information to Help.Team@allianzassistance.com so that I can look into the matter. Sincerely, Sarah, HelpTeam

I flew to Germany with my husband Willi last year. We took out flight insurance with Allianz, as well insurance for our entire stay there. Already on our very first day my husband had an accident with his wheelchair on the cobblestone streets of our hometown Marburg. The wheelchair tipped and the ambulance brought him to the closest hospital, where they examined him and stitched up his head wound. Later my cousin's Doctor even came to the hotel, because his office was on the first floor and not accessible to a wheelchair, to pull the threads from his wound. Coming home to the US I sent in all invoices to Alliance travel insurance, they paid and the whole mishap was soon forgotten. We were so lucky to have been in such good hands our entire trip, because it was the very last vacation for my husband. He died this year in October.

I tried contacting Turkish Airlines directly for reimbursement, but they just gave me the run around; however, in their correspondence to me, they did admit that the delay was a result of operational errors on their part. With this in hand, I made a claim through my Allianz policy, and I was reimbursed the cost of that missed tour via check in no time at all! Good job Allianz.

We had to cancel a two-week trip to Vancouver because of a sudden illness. We were really concerned about how much of our money we would get back AND how much of a hassle it was going to be. It turned out we received all our money that was due to us, plus it was relatively easy. (We are very organized people so we have receipts and e-mail verifications from all our hotels, tours, and air flights.) Allianz was very reasonable in its requests for verifications. Basically we sent in doctor's verifications and all the documentation from each hotel, tour, and airlines. It was really quite easy. We were so grateful. We were dealing with a lot because of the illness and it was a relief to get all our money back. We will use Allianz again and highly recommend it.

I broke my left foot at Inch Beach Strand on 11 June 2014 in County Kerry Ireland. I wrapped my foot in ice and got back on the tour bus since the nearest hospital and X-ray was 65 miles away. I took a taxi to a doctor (required) for a letter to take to the hospital. Then I took a taxi to the hospital, got an X-Ray and received treatment which included a walking boot and crutches. When I returned to the US, I claimed $200 Euros in medical charges and $180 Euros in taxi fees. Allianz promptly send me checks for the full amount of my claim, no questions asked.
I will certainly use Allianz on my next trip to Ireland, although I sincerely hope not to have to make any claims. After treatment at Kerry General Hospital in Killarney, I got back on the tour bus and continued the tour. Enclosed is a photo of me in crutches with my spouse, who normally uses a walker so we had dueling wheelchairs at Shannon Airport.

That was until our departing airline cancelled our 1st flight out of Amarillo connecting in Denver in route to Montreal then on to Athens Greece. We had to make a rush decision to make the drive to Denver to attempt to make our connection. This is where I have to plea to 5th. I will not state how many laws I broke in how many states to get to Denver International Airport in order to make our connection. We did in fact make our flight. Allianz did everything I could ask of them in the processing of our claims. And extremely fast in tendering payment. I would travel internationally without them!!
