Dad was hospitalized at 87 years and had to cancel his trip along with companion Carole **. Each of 2 times I called your company with questions regarding reimbursement, I got the help I needed. The trip tickets were reimbursed and we could not believe how easy and efficiently it was handled. Anyone who doesn't buy this insurance is making a big mistake. We have purchased Allianz Travel policies in the past through United and Delta Airlines, but this year was the first time we tried making a claim. One leg of our flight to Italy was cancelled due to bad weather, and we had to fly in/out of an airport a couple of hours away. Because of this, we had to pay to park our vehicle for 18 days instead of having a friend drop us off. We found a stay/park option at a hotel near the airport that proved to be cheaper than paying to park at the airport.
When we got home from our trip, I filed a claim for the cost of the hotel (I didn't save any gas receipts, otherwise I would have included this in the cost of the claim). Less than one week later, I received a check in the mail for the cost of the hotel. I was very pleased with the ease in filing a claim and in the speed everything was handled.

Our son was born weighing only 2.5lbs and is considered high risk for infections, illnesses, etc. We purchased this insurance just in case something happened to him medically while we were in another state but he got sick before we left. We had to take him to the ER, and his doctor said we couldn't travel. The office filled out a simple form. I spoke with a wonderful agent over the phone, submitted everything online, and we were issued refund checks. It was such an easy experience during a very stressful time. Thank you so much for helping us through this and doing your jobs so well. We now purchase Allianz for every trip, car rental, and hotel stay!

This is the first time that I had purchased airline insurance. I purchased this insurance because I was booking my trip several months in advance. I figured it would cover any change fees if something happened. To my surprise, it was very, very affordable (cheap really). When I received my policy, I read it in more detail, I found that this policy covered a lot of things. I was very impressed about all of the things that were covered. I called Allianz a couple of times to ask questions and the representative was always very helpful, concerned and very friendly. In the end, I did have to change my flight due to a family illness. Allianz covered my change fees with no hassle at all. I sent in the claim form and all of the required paperwork. Next thing I know, I received a check for my claim. I will now use Allianz for all of my flights.

I had used this company last year when my husband and I took a two week trip to Greece. Just as I feared, three days before my scheduled departure my mother was hospitalized with pneumonia. I needed to use my insurance. Allianz was easy to work with. I was able to get all my questions answered and to download all the forms I needed on the website. I have purchased Allianz Insurance in conjunction with airline tickets. I do this whenever I fly in case of illness of my travel partner or myself. On two occasions, I have had need to cancel my trip. The first time when returning home from Boston when my sister was ill and needed to go to the hospital for a few days and I had to return home later. The second time was when I was flying to Florida and my travel partner broke a tooth and required oral surgery which wouldn't allow flying until well after the surgery. Both times, Allianz answered my questions, sent me forms - and soon after submittal, I received a check reimbursing me for my missed airline ticket. I recommend purchasing insurance whenever planning a trip, near or far; one never knows what can happen and it is good to have assurance that the cost of the flight/trip are covered. My experience with Alliance was that agents were very professional and responsive and I recommend Allianz highly.

I was pleased with my insurance coverage for myself and my family. When our flight was cancelled, I was given the Allianz telephone number by a JetBlue employee (I am sure I had the number, but couldn't find it in my confusion). The customer service woman seemed genuinely concerned with our plight and after getting the details, she transferred me to Andrew who found us a hotel room close to the airport and booked it for us, made sure the hotel had free shuttle service to the airport, and suggested we look for a restaurant within walking distance of the hotel on our ride to the hotel. There wasn't, so he suggested pizza in our room. Perfect suggestion. He even called us after we had settled in the hotel room to make sure that we were comfortable and didn't need any further assistance. It was reassuring to have someone help us so capably in a stressful situation.

Allianz Global handled my claim very quickly and the process for filing the claim was pretty simple. I purchased tickets to see the Harlem Globetrotters at the Augusta Civic Center, in Augusta, Maine, for the night of March 30th. I purchased the insurance with the idea that there might be a severe snowstorm here in Maine, that night.
Unfortunately, on March 13th, I ended up with a broken femur and was rushed to the hospital where I had surgery. I was in the hospital and at Rehab until April 11th and therefore never got to take my son to the Globetrotters. So it turned out okay since I had the insurance - even though we never got to see the Globetrotters. Hopefully they will return to Augusta another year and I might be healed up by then. Upon an early return from Florida, on Jet Blue Airlines, in April 2014, due to Ear Medical Problems, I contacted my Allianz Representatives to inform them of this situation. I received the forms which I needed to complete, in order to obtain a $263.00 refund, which I paid to Jet Blue Airlines. After receiving the forms, completing them and having my Ear, Nose & Throat Doctor complete his part of the forms, I submitted them to Allianz. Within the month of April, I awoke one morning to discover a check for the $263.00 cost of returning earlier than the two weeks stay in Florida, for which I paid in March 2014. My wife and I planned a trip to Ft. Thankfully, we had taken out travel insurance through Allianz which we have done many times in the past but this was the first time we actually had to use it and it really paid off. Thankfully, the hotel and car rental reimbursed us in full but the only outstanding issue was with JetBlue which assessed us $150.00 per ticket. The Allianz insurance then took over and with the submittal of all the necessary documentation, we were able to get back full credit for a future trip with JetBlue which we did in fact do in May of this year. All in all, the insurance is worthwhile and certainly gives you that extra added security in the event the unexpected occurs.

I bought an airline ticket for my niece to surprise her aunt for her birthday. I also purchased flight insurance from Allianz as it was what was offered by United. My niece was picked up for DUI and her court appearance was scheduled during the time of her trip. She went through the process of filing a claim and was at first verbally told there probably would be no problem after she was unsuccessful in changing the court date. Subsequently, the claim was denied when it came to light that the charge was DUI. It is true, there is language in the policy about alcohol, but how would one know this set of circumstances would occur? How many people in the country drink after all? Even the airlines are happy to sell you booze on a flight.
According to the policy, if it had been ANYONE in the family, not even a traveling individual, and she needed to cancel to be with said person, the policy doesn't pay. So OK, we didn't read the fine print before buying. I wondered if it was even possible to read the policy before buying so I just went digging through their website. Yes, it is, but I had to really dig to find what was covered and what was excluded. I would bet that no one goes to the trouble of reading these policies before buying and probably not even after buying unless they need to file a claim. When you are buying your ticket and want insurance, you aren't likely to dig around to read the entire policy beforehand. Based on the previous reviews I have read here, more people are denied than are helped by this insurance. Suffice it to say, I will never buy it again - what a waste of money!

Dear June,
We’re very sorry that your niece needed to cancel her trip due to a pending court appearance. Unfortunately, this is not a circumstance that travel insurance would cover. We do provide two opportunities to review your insurance policy. As you pointed out, there is a link in the purchase path of your travel provider that takes you to the policy for review prior to purchase. We also email the policy to the customer shortly after purchase. The customer then has 10 days to review the policy, during which if they feel that it doesn't meet their needs, they can call us to cancel it for a full refund of the purchase price.
We’re sorry that we weren't able to cover you in this circumstance, but we wish you the best in your future travels.

I purchased travel insurance with a ticket from American Airlines. I have done this with other travel, but never had a reason to file a claim. I ended up having surgery a week before this trip and was told I would be restricted for a month. I cancelled my trip a week in advance and filed all paperwork through my doctor in a timely fashion. I received a response from Allianz a week ago saying I was denied. I called them thinking there had been a mistake. They said that since I was not in a life-threatening situation, that I had been denied. They also mentioned that I could resubmit with a letter. I realized that this company has no integrity and decided to stop the madness. I told them I would not resubmit, but that I would tell my experience to others.

After a raft of weather-related flight cancellations (February in Boston), we missed our cruise departure and were unable to find any flights at all. We then cancelled the cruise. Allianz promised an answer within 10 days but lost the paperwork for three out of four claims. I called them and took care of that. After more than 30 days, without notifying us, the claim status site now says the claim was denied because the policy doesn't include coverage for airfare. That's not what I was asking for; of course - I want the coverage I actually purchased, on the cruise.

My husband and I had planned the trip of a lifetime... a cruise to the Mediterranean for the summer of 2014. While we had booked the cruise during the summer of 2013, we waited until December 2013 to book our flight to Spain. In January 2014, exactly 7 days after buying our tickets and insurance, I was diagnosed with colon cancer which would require not only surgery, but 6 months of chemotherapy. Obviously, we would have to cancel our trip... and we were thankful we had decided to purchase the trip insurance. However, our claim was denied on the basis that because I was "ill" prior to purchasing the insurance. To me, this seems to suggest that I knowingly bought tickets and insurance knowing I would never be able to take the trip.
People become "ill" for many reasons. How was I to know that I had cancer until it was diagnosed AFTER purchasing insurance. I will do my research next time and only buy insurance from an ethically sound company. I find it hard to believe that this company has an A+ BBB rating after seeing all the 1 star ratings.

As for my husband plowing is basically the only income in the winter. When I explained that to them. They could of cared less. I bought concert tickets as a Christmas gift for my daughter and her husband. I bought the insurance because my daughter was pregnant and due to give birth on Feb. 21st, the concert was the scheduled for Feb. 9th. As things would have it, she went into labor on the 8th and gave birth to her first child, making me a Grandpa for the first time. Imagine my surprise when I called to make a claim on Feb. 18th and was told childbirth is a non-covered incident....Really? In the year 2014, they really want to go there? I think it's hideous of any company to exclude childbirth, specifically if the birth comes 2 weeks early. This company is obviously very sound, because they are willing to be complete anti-women when it comes to childbirth. I would never recommend this company to anyone for any reason, they don't seem capable of grasping the idea of family first.

My travel plans changed; apparently, what I consider a travel interruption is not even close to what's actually covered on the policy. Allianz customer service was very diligent, but in the end, I was not able to get a refund for my unused travel insurance or a claim paid for my change in plans. My bad, I feel like a sucker. My advice to all my fellow travelers, be very careful in the travel insurance you buy. It probably does not cover what you think it does.

Would NEVER purchase this insurance. If you have ANY pre existing condition, even for something where you have no symptoms but receive routine follow up, like a cancer survivor, not receiving active treatment but followed by oncologist, they view it as a pre existing condition. They say they have a different policy for that but acknowledge that you wouldn't know that from the link on the airlines website. You would have to know their interpretation and go to their website and then purchase a much more expensive policy. My mother got very ill, had to call in hospice and they recommended that we not travel to Hawaii and they denied the claim despite having the doctor's note. We are out $4000 in airfare. Would NEVER, NEVER purchase this under any circumstances.

I was on a flight when the steward started telling of cancellations of connections from Atlanta. They asked for those to come up to the front. I was told to get my carry on and go to the check in agents at the other end of the jet way. Those agents could not find a way to get me to the destination, as the airport I was flying to was closed. I tried rebooking the next am and same thing. When I asked for the claim I was told a flight left Atlanta later that night and got to the destination. I responded that not only was I told to not fly by the airline, but I had no idea or knowledge to go to Atlanta and sit for long hours and hope for a flight out.
The area I was flying to was hit with a major snow storm. This company is misleading consumers. The issue is not the cost of the flight. The issue is they are being totally unfair. When the company expect the consumer to bisect the legal terms that only a lawyer can understand, or even take the time to read all of the legal documents, it is time for something to be done. I hope that other consumers that are looking for trip insurance will look at these reviews and give serious consideration before purchasing from this company.

•Travel cancellation or interruption coverage
•Emergency medical and dental coverage
•24-hour emergency assistance anywhere in the world.
I went back to their website to confirm. There was nothing substantial other than "trip cancellation". Long story short - it is a sham and I strongly discourage any from using it!!

I wish I read these complaints before I purchased "ticket insurance" through Allianz. I had purchased 4 tickets to a concert in September and the concert was in December. I found out in November that starting in January that my hours were going to be cut, and then I found out two of my friends weren't going to be able to go to the concert after all… Leaving me with 2 extra tickets and $236 extra to pay on my credit card. First off, the wording on Ticketmaster’s website for to buy the insurance needs to be worded differently, "If you can't attend this event for any number of reasons, like covered illness, airline delays, traffic accidents and more, you'll be reimbursed for this purchase." Reading this makes it seem like no matter the reason, you will get a refund if you cannot make the event.
I had talked to Allianz twice and both times were useless. They have the worse policy ever… 3 years at a job and only if terminated or laid off? What a joke. In this day in age so many people switch jobs. Finally talked to Ticketmaster for the 2nd time and explained how Allianz was being complicated and that I was in a financial crisis and the $236 would put me in a burden. For one time only, they gave me the face value refund. Talk about relief off my shoulders! Next time I know, don't get any kind of ticket insurance, especially from Allianz!

I am writing this post to caution people on buying travel insurance through Allianz Global Assistance, or TD Travel Insurance, as we did. We booked our honeymoon through WestJet Vacations. We had looked and looked, planning for months in advance, checking out reviews, resorts, excursions, the whole nine yards before we settled on La Romana, Dominican Republic. We had travel insurance through TD Travel Insurance, underwritten by Allianz Global. Why would we need travel insurance?? This was our honeymoon, after all… but we got it regardless.
Our wedding was amazing. We came off of a perfect, amazing day, surrounded by friends and family from across Canada. We were so excited to continue on the high that we were riding from our wedding, and go on our honeymoon to celebrate. We were set to leave from Edmonton at 12:50AM on Tuesday, October 15. The very last thing we thought as we pulled up to the airport to check in was that our world would be flipped upside down in a matter of seconds. My husband's uncle, who was the amazing MC of our wedding called at 11:30pm. Expecting well wishes, we answered and were delivered a life changing blow… his only son was dead.
What do you do when you go from such an extreme high to such an extreme low in 5 seconds? Have a panic attack in the airport? Yep. Bawl your eyes out? Yep. Stand at the check-in kiosk feeling like your heart has stopped? Definitely. We did the only thing we knew to do. Cancel our honeymoon. The ladies at WestJet took us off of our flight, so that it didn't show as us missing our flight. We stood there, staring at each other, no words in the world to fix what we felt. Our family needed us. They had put so much time and love into our wedding and we knew that we had to be there in whatever way we could. We did the right thing by cancelling our honeymoon. We spent the next week supporting the family. This was my husband's closest cousin. These people were closer than normal "extended" family.
Thank you Allianz Global Insurance for absolutely nothing. No, he wasn't our father, mother, brother, sister, or child. But he was somebody's child. He was our friend. He was our family. Throughout that long week, we knew we had made the right choice and we haven't regretted it one bit. But I just want to caution everyone. Travel insurance is an absolute scam. Maybe 1% of the time, it works in the advantage of the travellers. But I can tell you without a doubt, that this company was the worst thing I have had the displeasure of dealing with. Do NOT spend extra money on travel insurance. The day we were supposed to come home from our honeymoon was the day we laid our close family member to rest, my husband being an honorary pallbearer. Not "immediate" family… no. But as close as a brother could be without being blood related. Thanks for nothing Allianz.

On May 15, 2013 I purchased a ticket to Memphis for June 9th on American Airlines via Orbitz for one of my daughters, along with travel insurance from Allianz. Our other daughter had been diagnosed with cancer but given two years to live. However, she did not respond well to the chemo and radiation, and a few days later treatment was abruptly halted and she went home to die.
On May 24th we cancelled the trip so the one daughter could spend the remaining days with her sister, who subsequently died on July 8th. We then submitted a claim to Allianz for the $381.60 cancelled ticket. To our shock, Allianz denied the claim on the basis that the cancer was a pre-existing condition and the death occurred after the travel date. This is equivalent to saying that a person with a cold who subsequently develops pneumonia and has to cancel a trip had a "pre-existing condition" that invalidates the insurance.
Fortunately American Airlines was much more understanding, and gave us an eVoucher to be used on a future flight. So kudos to American Airlines, and a giant thumbs down to Allianz which will do everything possible to weasel out of paying a claim.

I was told that I needed to show proof that I wasn't at fault when I was terminated from my job, and that I must be employed for 3 consecutive years in order to get my refund back. My company cancelled my contract, which was not expected, and cancelled the trip at the last minute, which I could not have foreseen. Fortunately, I thought I had covered myself with travel insurance.
I promptly filled out all the required paperwork, had my employer write a letter explaining that this was beyond my control, and Allianz (after a month) returned a letter stating that my claim was denied (due to not having evidence that the cancellation was not arbitrary on my own accord). I called to explain again, and they could not have cared less. I even had my employer (former, but current again) explain further that the cancellation was corporate and beyond my control. No results. I believe that Allianz is essentially a fraud.

Friday morning I changed the flight to get there ASAP. I got a flight out that afternoon. I obviously cancelled the Sunday flight. My brother ended up passing away the following Tuesday.
When I tried to collect on the Sunday flight cancellation, they told me "it was against their policy to pay because it was a pre-existing condition." When I called the company, I told them every claim they have would be for pre-existing conditions. I gave her a scenario where if my Dad, who had previous heart issues and was on medication, died waiting for his flight. They could refuse to pay the claim because he had a "pre-existing" condition. She blamed it on me for not reading their entire policy before purchasing the insurance. If my claim is not legitimate, I don't foresee any claim getting paid. After going through this, I will NEVER buy insurance from this carrier again. To be honest, I can't foresee any claim where there isn't at least some type of pre-existing condition.

Allianz only insures when a very narrow series of conditions are meet. They took three weeks to process the claim; I had to call them and ask for it, and then they said, "We are sorry we'll get it done today..." which they did (this makes me think that they delay all claims until people ask about results so they do not have to pay some claims at all?). The problem is that you cannot read the policy until your purchase it. Shame on Orbitz for selling this useless insurance with their trips. Next time, I'll purchase somewhere else. As for Allianz... what a questionable business model!!! It must be profitable, at the expense of their victims (I would not dare call customers most of them).

I am glad we were able to provide you with the $150 reimbursement to help off-set your unexpected expenses. When making travel arrangements through ORBITZ, be aware of that little box on the final checkout page for requesting Travel Insurance through Allianz Global Assistance. I booked business class tickets to India for a June 27th departure and checked that little deceptive box on the ORBITZ web page. On June 25th a portion of our sewer lines under our homes foundation collapsed, crippling the toilets and kitchen making the house inhabitable which I believed was covered by the Allianz policy. The repairs consisted of tunneling under the house foundation so as to enable the plumbers to replace the corroded sewer pipes.
On June 25th I contacted Allianz informing them of the need to cancel the India trip and on June 27th sent 13 pages of supporting documentation that included work statements, estimates and actual photos of the work being done. On July 18th we were informed by a senior Claims Adjuster that the claim was approved and all that was required prior to reimbursement was notification from ORBITZ that the ticket was non-refundable. On July 29th, and to my total amazement, I was informed by another senior Allianz Claims Adjuster that the claim was now being rejected by the auditors because the claim did not meet the contract conditions under Environment.
The home was inhabitable due to natural disaster, fire, flood, burglary or vandalism and to think it all began with checking that mysterious little box for travel insurance. This experience says a lot to me about Allianz and their apparent regards for their clients. Their Mission Statement must read; get what revenues you can and pay back as little as possible look for every loophole. The age old statement Buyer Beware sure applies to any dealing with Allianz.

By the time the airline got us to the port of origin, the ship was long gone. With her explicit request, I've pursued this claim on behalf of her estate since she passed away on Dec. 6, 2012. When booking, the site recommends travel protection and shows "Allianz Travel Insurance: Get reimbursed up to 100% if you cancel or interrupt your trip for reasons like illness, injury, layoff and more" for an additional cost. They make it sound so simple to be reimbursed.
Within a day, their contract arrives as a .pdf attachment to an email. In Section 3 under General Exclusions it reads: The following things if they affect you, a traveling companion or a family member, whether the family member is traveling with you or not: existing medical conditions (unless you have existing medical condition coverage in Section 2). There is nothing in Section 2, or while purchasing, that allows for any pre-existing condition information to be provided or covered. My mom had no reason to believe there was anything seriously wrong with her medically when she saw her doctor at the beginning of September. What would be the point of booking a trip and getting insurance? However because of that pre-booking doctor visit, Allianz has denied the claim as "symptoms of a pre-existing condition that led to cancellation of her insured flight."
So Allianz keeps its premium (no matter what), Orbitz keeps its fees and the airline keeps the fare for a service they didn't have to provide because Allianz made a determination on its own behalf. There are so many complaints about this company. Why isn't anything being done? Under corporationwiki.com, AGA Service Company is listed as the holding company that shows: Category: Holding company, insurance agent/broker/insurance brokers, Nec. Allianz is nothing more than a money grab, and they need to be investigated and shut down permanently. Insurance companies in the United States are regulated primarily by the individual states. There is no federal regulatory agency that oversees insurance companies. The name of the insurance regulatory agency typically is "Department of Insurance", "Division of Insurance," "Insurance Bureau" or something similar.
This agency is headed by a state government official usually called the "Commissioner of Insurance", "Director of Insurance", or a similar title. The Commissioner of Insurance is an elected official in some states and in other states is appointed by the Governor. Please, if you've been scammed, make some phone calls, write letters and contact the BBB, the travel website you booked through, and any state agencies you can think of. They don't send you the PDF that includes their rules and regulations until after you purchase their so-called insurance from the airlines. Then they delayed and did not respond to my claim for 4 months. When I brought it to their attention, they said sorry, it was overlooked and they will send me a check within a week. A week later, I received a letter and an e-mail stating that I was denied. The airlines are more accommodating than Allianz.
Honestly, save yourself the money and deal with the airlines directly if you have any issues. First, they used my doctor's note as an excuse. When that didn't work, then they used the hotel that I had booked myself as an excuse not to give my money back. They said everything had to be included with their company even if I didn't buy it from Alaska Air in order for my insurance to be valid. Scam artist. I am having my lawyers investigate them for a possible class action lawsuit.

Thank you for posting your comments. We’re sorry that your claim was not resolved to your satisfaction and that the insurance you purchased didn’t provide you with the coverage you had hoped. I received a letter from Allianz, dated January 10, 2013, on January 17, 2013 indicating that I will not be reimbursed for my claim because according to Allianz, the conditions that led to my change in travel plans were that of exhibiting symptoms, and/or being treated prior to the purchase of the insurance program. (This information is not provided upon purchase. It is not apparent until one receives the written documentation after purchase.) I disagree strongly with Allianz's decision. I have had chronic leukemia since 2006. The symptoms wax and wane. Most of the time, I am perfectly healthy. I need periodic assessment medical appointments, and from time to time treatment which is chemotherapy infusions of varying types.
When I purchased my tickets for my flight to Ft Lauderdale on JetBlue Airlines, it was on September 11, 2012. I was neither symptomatic nor was I receiving chemotherapy then. As a matter of fact, I had returned recently from two long trips, one a European vacation and the other a visit to Houston, TX. (The documentation that I sent Allianz with my claim forms verifies a September 11, 2012 JetBlue Airline ticket purchase for three for our December 2012 flights to Ft Lauderdale - to take place on December 25, 2012.) I did not become symptomatic again until late September 2012. A diagnostic CT scan was ordered in October, and as explained to me by my oncologist, confirmed a change in my health status. That was long after I purchased my JetBlue Florida vacation tickets.
Additionally, I purchased JetBlue Airline tickets and Allianz Travel Insurance on 9-11-12 for my husband and son, who could not travel to and from Ft Lauderdale, as they had to remain at home to help care for me. I should be reimbursed for their tickets as they were not ill at the time of cancellation, nor when I purchased their tickets. Surely, I would not have purchased an Allianz Global Insurance Plan for no reason! I began to receive chemotherapy from my oncologist in November 2012. I canceled my flight of December 25, 2012 the morning of December 25, 2012 due to side effects from the chemotherapy as well as side effects from the medications to mitigate the side effects. Allianz's decision to deny benefits under the coverage purchased feels very discriminatory and the result of insufficient investigation.

I purchased Allianz insurance along with a flight I purchased for my elderly parents. Since they are elderly, I was concerned that something might happen on their trip that would cause a change in plans. I was right. My father fell ill and we had to check in into the hospital. He was there for a few days recovering from pneumonia. We had to cancel the flights back and reschedule their flights to a better time. We figured having flight insurance means that we'll get the change fee reimbursed. JetBlue charged us $200 to cancel their flights.
So I put in a claim with Allianz to get the $200 back. I'm not asking to be reimbursed for the more expensive flights I had to take - or the fact that I flew down with them to get them home safely (and then I had to fly back). I just wanted them to cover the change fee. They are jerks. Submitting the claim forms is nearly impossible. They want to see the JetBlue charge for the $200. But JetBlue does not provide that information; they only reimburse you for the ticket into a ticket bank, but they deduct the fee. So there is no way to see that $200 was charged. You have to do all the math and show it to Allianz, as they don't believe that JetBlue actually charges for a cancellation. Then, they wanted to see everything from this hospital, including all medical records (private ones), to make sure that this was not a preexisting condition.
Pneumonia is an infection - not a preexisting condition! Then, they wanted to see how my parents got home. They insisted that they would not pay the claim unless I sent them the receipt from the other airline I used to fly them back. Is it their business that I used USAir instead of JetBlue? Allianz will do anything they can to screw you and kick you in the nuts when you are down. If you have any medical condition, get put into the hospital, have to deal with elderly parents, or have any reason to suffer in your life and you want to add to that suffering, just buy some Allianz insurance and make whatever suffering you have magnified. I would be embarrassed to work for such snakes. I hope they rot.

We purchased travel insurance for a family trip for 6 people (three generations) to Disneyworld in Florida and a Disney Cruise in July 2012. Allianz is the sole insurer for Disney. Disney should look into that since Allianz's process impacts negatively on Disney/Disney brand. A few days before trip, my husband had a serious accident and it was determined that surgery and hospitalization was the only choice. Our travel agent made all the cancellations about 4 days before departure. My husband required 2 different surgeries, 14 days of hospitalization and 10 weeks of recovery.
Once I got my husband back at work, I started a process of paperwork. Allianz sends you a letter stating 7-10 days. Not the case. We have experienced nothing but stalling and requesting more info on a piece-meal basis. They have had all of our info for almost 2 months but send paperwork asking for info that they already have in hand or the last few weeks saying they need something from our travel agent, which she promptly sent and now from Disney. Since they are the sole insurance for Disney, shouldn't they have clear and open communications with them? I would think that it would be much smoother. In my last conversation, I was told that they requested more info from Disney and that they would get it within a week and then review it. I have repeatedly told them in my weekly calls to them that I think they intentionally are stalling and now we have to pay for the entire trip once again to reschedule and we still haven't gotten any refund for the first one. Help!

I purchased trip insurance for a recent trip. It was simply a check-off box with my Delta ticket, and then the policy is mailed to the customer after the fact. Unfortunately, my trip was interrupted due to a documented family illness of an immediate family member. My travel companion and I both had to return home. I was assured on the phone that this was "trip interruption" and covered. What they don't tell you is that you cannot redo the trip with a new ticket at a later date. It only covers the cost of re-ticketing to get home, if it costs more.
In my case, Delta honored the reason for my return and did not charge me more for my ticket home or a re-booking fee. This was a first for me, and I wonder what their deal is with Allianz. After talking with them and sending in their 23-page form, my claim for trip interruption was denied. A week trip lasted one day. As far as Allianz is concerned, I had my trip. There is a definite lack of transparency in the way Allianz offers policies to customers. One does not see the policy or receive it until after it is purchased.

My brother has been fighting brain cancer, and we decided while he was feeling good to quickly book and travel on a family trip, having the foresight (I thought) to purchase trip insurance with Allianz at the time of booking. Unfortunately, in the brief weeks between purchasing and traveling, his condition worsened and was unable to travel. Allianz denied the claim stating it was due to a pre-existing condition, and because the total amount out of pocket exceeded the coverage amount. I supposedly per the policy had coverage for $500 per person, and my out of pocket was a bit over $600 per person; hardly excessive.
Nowhere on the purchase screen (purchased at the time of airline booking) does it say trips missed due to pre-existing medical conditions require special terms. Apparently, they send you terms and conditions that discuss pre-existing conditions after you purchase the service. This is a blatant bait-and-switch operation. Apparently, if you make it through to page 12 of 25 pages of the actual policy, if you have a pre-existing condition, then you are apparently supposed to specify the exact dollar amount of your out of pocket trip expenses, otherwise risk getting nothing. So clearly, I was supposed to be expert in this ridiculous policy. So get this: I had coverage for $500 per person, thus $1,000 (2 people). But because my out of pocket was just over that total amount ($1,200), I get nothing.
I don't know how they have not been investigated, sued and/or shut down yet. I am also curious how they sleep at night operating in this manner. Warning, do not purchase "trip protection" from this company. I will now add my complaint to the others filed with the BBB, and will file a complaint with my state's regulatory oversight department.

I was purchasing a home in Phoenix and had to fly-in to look at the house, so I decided to catch my first hockey game while I was there. During the checkout process in purchasing my hockey ticket, Ticketmaster recommended buying trip protection from Access America Travel to protect me in case I could not make the game for any reason. I thought it was a smart move since I am traveling all the way from Hawaii.
Unfortunately on the way to the airport, I got a flat tire on my truck, so I missed my flight. I lost all of my money for my hotel and car through Orbitz and I was charged a $150 change fee for my flight. The one thing I was happy with was the purchase of this insurance at least I would get my money back on this expensive ticket, boy, was I wrong. Access America said that I need to provide tow receipts or a repair invoice - how does one provide paperwork when I fixed the truck myself? It was a flat tire for goodness sake! I discarded the damaged tire and used the full size spare that came with my truck and I am still using the spare to this day. I ended up making the same trip for two days later.
Access America has dragged the "processing" phase of my claim on for over 3 months. I called them yesterday to find out that my claim is still open. However, I have to provide documentation in order to continue the "processing" phase. When I purchased the ticket and the insurance, the check-out screen said that the insurance covered any reason for not making the event. After I purchased the insurance, I got this booklet explaining what they will insure. Per their booklet, my truck causing me to miss the flight should be covered. However, they hide behind having to provide proof that my truck broke down or was rendered unavailable. I even sent them the receipts for the same trip I took two days later, due to missing my original flight. They were heartless, rude and unprofessional. To add insult to injury, I contacted Ticketmaster to try to get reimbursed and to inform them of the insurance carrier they are using. I got a lame email back saying there was nothing they could do and to contact the insurance carrier again. What a joke! For the love of god, do not purchase this insurance.

My father was fighting cancer and as with most illnesses, he was on the mend one day and would have an unexpected setback another day. Because of this, we purchased Trip Insurance from Allianz for our flight booked through Orbitz. Sure enough, my father had to be admitted to the hospital a couple of days before the flight, so we were unable to make the trip.
Allianz denied the claim stating it was due to a pre-existing condition. Nowhere on the purchase screen does it say trips missed due to pre-existing medical conditions are excluded. Apparently, they send you terms and conditions that discuss pre-existing conditions after you purchase the service. This is a blatant bait-and-switch operation. I don't know how they have not been investigated, sued and/or shut down yet. Warning, do not purchase "trip protection" from this company. I just added my complaint to over 550 complaints filed with the BBB.
