My boyfriend and I were going to travel from CA to ME at the end of May 2017 to visit my family he had never met. At the beginning of April 2017, I purchased two round trip tickets through Priceline: CA to ME was on JetBlue and ME to CA was on American Airlines. When I reached the end of the Priceline scheduling process I decided to purchase travel insurance for the tickets. By purchasing the travel insurance I mean I got to the area on the Priceline screen and selected the option/box to purchase the travel insurance; the tickets and the insurance were purchased during the same transaction. At the beginning of May 2017 my mother had an emergency surgery that resulted in the cancellation of the trip.
I contacted Priceline and Allianz Travel Insurance right away regarding the change in travel plans. Priceline was helpful from the start and provided excellent customer service. Allianz Travel Insurance on the other hand has been TERRIBLE. To this day (9/5/17) I am still attempting to get a full refund of my tickets. From the beginning, Allianz claimed the travel insurance that was purchased did not cover both legs of the trip (due to the cost being too low); instead they claimed the insurance package that was purchased was for a one way ticket therefore the insurance package only covered the flight going to ME. In May and June 2017 I spoke to several Allianz Travel Insurance customer service agents as well as followed up with management (after being told I would receive return calls and didn't).
I requested/conducted a 3 way call between Priceline and Allianz management in which Priceline confirmed I purchased round trip tickets and explained to the Allianz Travel Insurance staff member that they should uphold their full refund agreement. In addition, Priceline noted at the time of the call other Priceline customers have had problem with Allianz Travel Insurance properly reimbursing travel claims. However, appropriate action has not been taken on the part of Allianz Travel Insurance. Since June 2017 I have submitted a claim for reimbursement and attached several documents through the Allianz Travel Insurance portal to substantiate my claim. My mother's surgeon completed the medical portion of their claim process as well that supported the medical necessity/lack of previous medical hx.
Yet, on August 24, 2017, I received a notice that I would be reimbursed only part of the money I paid for the trip. Of the $1,375.76 we received a check for $791.16. Allianz Travel Insurance DID NOT includes additional information related to why the rest of the money has not been reimbursed. I will continue to fight this, as I believe Allianz Travel Insurance is taking advantage of me/its customers. I have submitted all the documentation they requested and then some to substantiate the claim. I expect a full refund. Until then, buyer beware!!!

Our experience this time with Allianz was excellent. We submitted our claim and all supporting documents and within a 2 week time frame we had our approval. It was very easy and painless. I will continue to purchase trip insurance for our travels. I don't have the policy number but our claim number was **.

When my American Airlines flight was cancelled due to weather conditions, I was forced to stay in NYC for two nights. When the airline did not even offer hotel vouchers or aid of any kind, Allianz saved the day. Submitting my claim was easy and my experience was top notch. What started as a stressful and expensive travel debacle ended with great relief thanks to the excellent coverage and customer service Allianz provided to me. Will definitely tell friends and recommend! Thank you.

I'm on my fourth or fifth round with this scam company. They make it sound nice and easy. I paid something like $15 to secure my $250 Delta Airlines ticket and seemingly a 102.7 degree fever due to cancer recovery from chemo and radiation doesn't seem qualifying for a reimbursement to them. Apparently I was supposed to get on the plane and die. That would be better for their bottom line... that's how insurance really works. I believe this final round will definitely have cost me more in bills with my oncologists than these ** owe me. INCREDIBLY DISSATISFIED!

It was a resolved partially. Since I purchased a layaway plan, the insurance provided to cover my tickets apparently covered only the first payment of my tickets. And when my layaway plan finished, my insurance didn't cover the remainder of my tickets. Doesn't make much sense but it happened. Wish I would have ready policy to policy and called in to make changes. Such a mistake on 2 companies this large should not occured. But it did. And didn't get a full claim for all my tickets. Thousands upon thousands of tickets sold on this site and insurance purchased on many of them and a mistake like this. I own my part due to my lack of reading my policy in detail. And Allianz took care of their part only after I complained about my initial claim payment being wrong. Fix these website problems. This shouldn't have happened in the first place. I will be doing business elsewhere, I should have sold my tickets and made the other 225 back that my insurance didn't "cover".

I purchased 2 2-day passes for hard summer music festival 2017 through Ticketmaster. I selected the option for insurance by Allianz Global Assistance to cover in case something happens. This was all done in one purchase. I picked 2 2 day tickets, and selected the only option for insurance in case of emergencies. At the bottom of my receipt it says my event is covered by Allianz. We were all set, or so we thought. So my fiance became pregnant, which was great news, but the nightmare arrived after our claim was submitted. The process was long, but we got it done. We got the paperwork proving she is pregnant and finished filing our claim. I sent in proof of my purchase of 2 x 2 day tickets, which totals out to 2 Saturday tickets and 2 Sunday tickets. That's a total of 4 tickets!
My claim comes back approved but it is apparent that they completely ignored my form and what I was claiming. I was approved for 136.36 for my total claim. I spent 391.35 for 2 x 2-day passes. I was told the policy covers each ticket up to 83.01. So if we did basic math, 2 Saturday and 2 Sunday tickets claimed up to the proper maximum amount of 83.01, totals out to 334.04. That is understandable due to the service fees from Ticketmaster not being refundable and I am ok with that. So I called to ask where my actual claim money was (because even after 2 weeks I still did not receive my "check") why I was only getting 136.36. I am supposed to be getting directly debited my claim. And that wasn't even done right. I called to ask where my check was, and they said it should have arrived. I told them since I didn't use it, to cancel the check and directly debit me. Which after 2 weeks still has not happened.
One thing to mention that is very ill important: they are claiming the policy I purchased through Ticketmaster only covers 2 tickets. I have purchased 2 2 day tickets, which totals out to 4 tickets. I would not have wasted my money on the insurance if I know I wouldn't be fully covered. Today is August 28th, I am still in frustratingly long wait times to get a hold of someone who can do something. After the rep who helped me got a hold of one of the claims adjusters (after 45 minute wait), my claim was finally reopened. And the rep basically said I will get a call tomorrow by the claims adjuster to talk about my claim. I told them the total claim doesn't add up at all, I could have easily sold my tickets through Ticketmaster and received more than what my claim would actually be.
I will continue to update this review as I get more info, but with my experience so far, Allianz will continue to receive a 1 star only because I could not give less than that. I want my full claim, I mailed in all 4 of my tickets instead of selling them. I wish I would have just sold them. I will not purchase from Allianz until they come to their senses and properly handle my claim and cover both 2 day passes for each ticket day.

My daughter caught a bad cold which forced me to cancel my business trip. Because she had a cold & cough she just needed rest and liquids; not a doctor's visit. When I informed Allianz of the problem - after waiting through a myriad of voice prompts, they let me know there was nothing they could do to help me because I hadn't taken her to the doctor. If I had taken to the doctor, or since it was sudden, the emergency room and incurred a $100 co-pay, I would have gotten my money back - which is why I bought the travel insurance. In the future, Priceline is great, but don't buy Allianz insurance. Unless you have a major life-threatening event - which you can document - the service is nothing more than a scam.

My wife and I planned a once in a lifetime trip to Hawaii in August and purchased main leg of our trip from Mainland to Oahu on 4/20/2017. We then decided in July that we wanted to see Maui as well so purchased tickets from Oahu to Maui and back including Allianz insurance around July 8. Our daughter was diagnosed with breast cancer in May, had a mastectomy in late May and started "red devil" chemo at the end of June. At the time of purchase of the Allianz insurance we knew about the cancer diagnosis, but thought that we would still be able to go on the once in a lifetime trip. The strength and commutative effects of the chemo made her very sick and unable to care for herself and 3 young children so we decided to completely cancel the trip.
I submitted a claim to Allianz that was rejected because they say that this was a pre existing condition that we knew about already. All this is true however we were not sure to the extent to which the chemo would affect her and felt we couldn't leave her and grandkids at this point. If I would have known all of their policies, I would have never purchased the insurance. Also if I would have known their policies that once you file a claim whether it is paid or not, there is no refunds for the insurance premium, I would have just cancelled the insurance to at least claim a bit of our hard earned money back. We will never be able to reschedule this trip due to finances and daughter's illness. I will never purchase insurance from this company again and recommend that anyone else never does either as they will find a way to not pay the claim you are entitled to.

For a trip to Paris, my wife decided to buy the optional airline trip insurance on the airline website since we were booking the flights several months in advance. The premium was around 5% or so of the cost of the three airline tickets. The flight to Paris went as planned but the last leg of the return flight was cancelled and the subsequent efforts to get us on another flight at another airport were botched by the airline leaving us stranded for the night with no financial assistance from the airline. We incurred additional expenses of nearly $400 to complete our return home. Our initial effort to file a claim on the Allianz website left my wife frustrated as it was a bit confusing to we inexperienced travelers. My wife, in frustration, was willing to eat the additional expense. We let the claim sit for a couple of weeks before I decided to follow through with submitting the claim.
Once I got into it, filing the claim was fairly simple - with advice from an Allianz customer service rep. Still, both my wife and I were a bit skeptical about the chances of getting reimbursement for the additional expenses but I thought it was worth trying. Allianz kept us informed on the claim's progress and, within a couple of weeks, we received noticed that our claim had been approved for payment. Every penny of the submitted claim was reimbursed to us by direct deposit shortly afterward. Needless to say, Allianz made believers out of a couple of skeptical novice travels.

I purchased an Amtrak ticket on March 5, 2017. The policy covers trip cancellation due to inclement weather, and while my Amtrak ticket was cancelled in entirety, with no offered substitute ticket or schedule, the insurance claim I submitted to Allianz was not honored. Either wrongfully or willfully I was denied monetary compensation that, according to Allianz' own written policy, I am owed. I am angry. I will never buy Allianz trip insurance again, and will make a point of telling my many friends who travel to avoid doing business with Allianz at all costs.

The process for submitting a claim was very "customer friendly," and the response time frame very short. Allianz completely fulfilled its obligations without undue questions and in a very professional manner. I will definitely use Allianz again for Travel Insurance if the need arises.

This was a clean airline ticket cancellation due to illness. I purchased the insurance on the Aer Lingus website at the time of booking. The Allianz policy requires documentation of payment of ticket either a receipt from airline or credit card statement. I promptly forward the airline emailed that stated on the first line: "This is your passenger itinerary and receipt email" which included the line "Payment VISA." They refused to accept it despite the clear language of their partner's (Aer Lingus) email. They stubbornly refused to accept that companies do not issue receipts for payment when they are not paid. Because of personal information security, I need to redact private information from credit card information before forwarding. Why do this when the requested documentation is obvious.
The issue of communication is also a problem. Although reaching a person by phone is good, they will not identify themselves other than their first name. I get not giving last names, but they would not give an employee ID. This makes it difficult when referencing prior conversations. When pressed, they will give a phone extension. Interesting, the person is not an examiner but a screener. Nice, but often hard to understand. After receiving a request for information that I had already provided, I contacted customer service. That person told me to ignore the email and that my claim was fine and that I should expect something the next Tuesday.
Three weeks later I get another email requesting information. When I called to point out the prior conversation, they asked who I talked to. I could only provide a first name (but I did have notes!). I later learned that the screener had all that information in front of them. A little disingenuous, eh? I booked a call back from an examiner at 10 AM the following day but received no call. Someone had called earlier, but I was not aware. This should not absolve them of their 10AM obligation. The claim is still open. I would not consider Allianz again and certainly not for a more complex trip.

When my wife went into labor 4 weeks early due to preeclampsia, the last thing I was thinking about was my flight to my sister's wedding the following week. When her doctor recommended I not go, I was so glad I had purchased this policy. Whenever I travel, I always purchase the optional insurance. However, until a recent incident it has always gone unused. Upon our return from vacation, I contacted Allianz to see if the emergency medical attention I received was covered under the policy we purchased. The agent I spoke to said that indeed it was and explained the process of submitting a claim. I was able to submit the claim and track its progress online. Within approximately 3 weeks, I received reimbursement for the entire amount of the bill we paid for the medical services I received. Travel without insurance is never an option.

My sister and I had to cancel a trip to Florida in mid-May, 2017 due to our father being placed on Hospice. He died one day after we were scheduled to travel. Our experience with Allianz was outstanding. We filed a claim, received all the necessary paperwork, we completed it as instructed and submitted it. Within 8 business days we were approved for our out-of-pocket costs and within 15 days we had our check in hand. Fortunately, we were able to reschedule our trip and we purchased Allianz insurance again for the peace of mind. I would highly recommend this company to anyone searching for travel insurance.

I had to cancel a trip due to a badly infected burn. I promptly submitted all of the required documentation to Allianz. Despite their guarantee of a 10-day turn-around on claims, they are now, more than 3 weeks later, telling me that some of the submitted documents aren't in the correct format. Instead of emails from the vendors, they want old fashioned letters on company letterhead. (Never mind that all of the company information was prominently displayed on the emails I submitted. Never mind that nothing in the claim instructions specified a particular format. And never mind that Allianz conducts all of its own business by email rather than letter.) Finally, after hours on the phone with various Allianz personnel, I was routed to a supervisor named Melissa, who straightened things out and approved the claim within 5 minutes. Hooray for Melissa, but boo for everyone else I interacted with.

I was very upset that I wasn't going to make my vacation with my family. I've never had pneumonia before so fine time to start now. Getting my money back on the flight was my primary concern once I knew I couldn't fly out. The ease at which I was able to file a claim and effortlessly get it approved astounded me. My claim was managed satisfactorily in a timely manner but it was difficult making a phone call overseas to get the expenses pre-approved. I had to wait until offices were open during United States time I believe. My claim was submitted via email and that was easy.

I had to cancel a trip due to my husband's illness. The claim form was easy to navigate and didn't require an excessive amount of "backup." The reimbursement check was sent quickly. I felt the cost of the policy was very well worth it, given the outcome, and will definitely sign up with them again.

Although claim was paid the web site lacks specificity when submitting supporting documents and is overly generic in content. No feedback on claim ever received after filing except when approved and paid. There is much room for improvements to the Allianz claim web site.

I recently flew to Alaska from Central New York. Because of the distance, I decided to purchase travel insurance. Thank goodness I did because I was delayed in Philadelphia due to bad weather in the Midwest. There was no way that I would get to Los Angeles in time to connect with my flight to Anchorage. It was either stay overnight in Philly or LA. I opted to stay in Philly. The airlines wouldn't set me up overnight because the delay was weather-related. I submitted an Allianz Global Assistance Claim to recoup my hotel and meal expenses. The individuals that I spoke with were knowledgeable, very courteous and helpful. I received a check for the full amount of my expenses in less than the 14 days (maximum) that I was told. I want to thank Allianz. I have already purchased trip insurance for my next two trips. It is worth every penny.

First I never received any answer from you, my understanding was when I bought the insurance I could change the date without paying any fee. I end up paying 38 dollars that I did not have. Until now no answer. But the gentlemen who assisted on the phone was very polite.

We purchased airline tickets online and had an option to cover our trip in the event we needed to cancel due to illness. I ticked the box yes and paid for the insurance. The only information provided on the airline reservation from Allianz Global is "Thank you for choosing Allianz Global Assistance trip protection. If you make any changes to your travel plans, please contact Allianz Global Assistance to update your coverage".
As it happened my partner became ill and we needed to cancel both the cruise and the airline. The cruise was easy - Traveler's Insurance processed the $7000 return within 10 days. Allianz Global is another matter - it's been 4 months! I uploaded the requested documents several times on their website, but the documents still showed as being needed. I called repeatedly to no avail. Several times their telephone lines were out of service, and selecting a number option on the phone eventually resulted in directing you to their website (which is never updated).
After several complaints via email I was advised that the documents were being reviewed and additional information was needed by the doctor. This was provided at least twice. After all is said is done, Allianz Global has informed us that we are not entitled to reimbursement due to a preexisting condition by my partner. Apparently in the 10 minutes one is allotted to reserve an airline ticket, book a seat and purchase insurance one is suppose to be aware of this particular detail. With Traveler's Insurance the preexisting contract language was stated as up front as part of the purchase. This company will spend months of your time and their time to deny a claim! Allianz Global is a disreputable firm. Beware!

I am very impressed with the efficiency of Allianz Global Assistance. Recently, I had to cancel a trip for medical reasons after I'd booked non-refundable airline tickets. This is my first travel insurance claim and I was expecting a hassle and a long delay before it was paid. To my delight, the claim was paid as soon as I provided the doctor's statement and receipt. I'm impressed!

Having travel insurance paid off recently when I cancelled a trip due to my mother's hospitalization. Filing a claim with Allianz was easy, and my money was promptly refunded.

Cancelled JetBlue Flight - 8-10-17 I would like to thank Allianz for their professional, courteous, and prompt customer service. I did have a little difficulty with their website (I was told it was being upgraded, or something to that effect) but, when I called customer service, the representative was very knowledgeable, friendly and professional, and "listened" to what I had to say. My claim was processed very quickly and I was delighted when I learned I would be receiving full payment for my claim. True to their word, the check arrived in the mail within a few days. Now that's great customer service, right from beginning to end.

My wife twisted her ankle really bad and needed medical treatment. X-rays did not show any broken bones, but she was in excruciating pain and cannot walk. Doctor prescribed a walking boot to stabilize the foot. All expenses were paid by Allianz and the claim was processed very efficiently.

For a long time I have been purchasing Allianz coverage with my rentals. I was always afraid that in the event of some unexpected damage, the third party insurance would let me down. Thankfully this company actually paid the claim. While I had to cancel the initial check due to change of address, it looks like they are arranging an electronic payment. Assuming that goes through, this company has been excellent. I will stick with them.

I had the best experience with this Allianz. You never want to have to use travel insurance since it means something went wrong before or during your trip. Thankfully, filing a claim was fairly simple and the customer service support was fantastic. I will definitely buy travel insurance next time I travel.

Due to a canceled flight and a placement on a later flight, I had to book a room at a more expensive hotel for a night and pay more for a car rental because the original rental agency had nobody at the desk after 11 PM. I have purchased several rental car policies and a couple trip policies throughout the years. This was my first claim. My rental agency was Hertz and they were very helpful also. I submitted the claim on my iPhone/iPad through the mobile site and uploaded all necessary docs. The claim was simple and mostly clear. I had a little trouble seeing my uploaded docs at first but found them after a brief search. My claim was processed (and paid) in the appropriate time. Since my quotes were in Australian currency I had to wait until the charge reflected on my credit card to give an accurate amount in USD but that was the only bottleneck. I totally recommend everyone to use Allianz Global Assistance insurance.

I travelled to Chicago on Amtrak. When I booked my flight home, I had about 5 hours to get to O'Hare from Union Station. However that all changed when the train was over 3 hours late. Thank goodness I had purchased insurance on my plane ticket. It cost almost $200 to change my ticket to another flight. Allianz made it easy to file my claim online, and they reimbursed me quickly. It was well worth the small premium. I would definitely recommend it for anyone planning a trip. I know I won't travel without it.

We booked a trip to see our dear friend, Jen, who is fighting lymphoma. We were scheduled to fly out on Monday but Jen was unexpectedly hospitalized on Saturday with an infection that required her to be in quarantine. I immediately contacted the airline who charged me a $125 cancellation fee and then contacted Allianz for how to proceed. After a few easy steps, I am happy to say the full refund check was deposited this past week. All in all, it took 2 weeks which included a few days for me to gather back up information. I had to be hospitalized in Cancun Mexico. Allianz was called while in the ER. My wife was told to pay everything on a credit card keep receipts and Allianz would repay. 2 days in Cancun hospital the bill was $9,000.00. I had to return back to the states per Dr. orders where I had surgery. My vacation was cut short by 8 days. I have receipts for everything!!! This happened Feb. 22 2017. It is now Aug 9, 2017.
Blue Cross North Carolina paid $6,000.00 for medical. I thought Allianz would be more than happy to pay the difference. Wrong!!! They finally paid part of the medical, but refused to pay my trip interruption 8 days at $210 per day. I have called and the case was reopened. I have the receipt for the condo we had for 3 weeks. The receipt shows my first payment and the final payment when I arrived. Very easy to understand. If in doubt could call to verify. So far zip nada nothing for trip interruption. I got my travel insurance from AAA North Carolina because I had heard that AAA Insurance very good. As you might guess I will not use Allianz again.

After suffering an illness traveling to Cuba, me and my family including in-laws had to cut our trip short by 4 days. With no internet access and limited resources in that country, I ended up at a clinic, which recommended that I go home for better treatment. Due to an upper respiratory infection which had infected my throat and ears I was not able to fly re doctor's orders. My doctor completed the medical form from Allianz and I sent copies of the purchase of the airline ticket which showed the amount of the purchase, date of purchase and ticket number. With everything in order, Allianz refunded the airline ticket. The process was fast and easy. Had the check within 10 days. Excellent program which I have already recommended to friends.

I have always been skeptical of travel insurance (always thought it was a waste of money and it would be hard to collect), but on the advice of my travel agent, I purchased a policy through Allianz for a recent cruise. It was a good choice as both my wife and I got sick with something that was going around the ship and had to visit medical. I recently submitted a claim for a trip that had to be cancelled last minute due to a death in the family. I was hesitant to file the claim for fear the process would be cumbersome and the documentation required would be impossible to obtain. However, I was pleasantly surprised that neither was the case. The call to Allianz was quick, the completion of claims forms took minimal time and they kindly accepted a letter from hospice as support. Great service and protection. I had to see the ship's doctor on a cruise for a respiratory infection. All I had to do was provide Allianz with a copy of my treatment form from the ship's doctor and a copy of the detailed cruise statement showing the charge. I submitted a claim online, which took approximately 5 minutes, and within a week had a check for full reimbursement.

We had a family trip planned, which we bought insurance for. One of our children was hospitalized unexpected for over a month, including the time of our trip. Despite sending medical information (including a diagnosis - which is HUGE violation of child privacy - when a MD signature showing the hospital stay would have been MORE than sufficient); then you ask for both the itinerary (which is linked to the purchase of your product and is self evident unless you just want me to do the work of looking it up) AND proof of payment (also self evident from the fact that I purchased the flights in the first place!). Then 10 days between uploading the information, only to be asked to upload even more information, only to be told another 10 business days needed. Insurance should quickly reimburse when it's clear it's a covered benefit and not drag their feet paying out. Disappointed in the speed of service, but at least I expect to be reimbursed during this difficulty.

I put some slight scrapes on the car and didn't even plan to make a claim, but when the bill from the rental agency, for more than $500 came in, I submitted what limited information I had (I hadn't taken pictures, noted the exact location, or anything). When my husband and I were both hospitalized with food poisoning in Mexico, Allianz provided extremely prompt and courteous service to help us get our hospital bills paid. They issued a guarantee of payment in less than 48 hours so that we were not required to pay our bills in full before we could leave the hospital or the country, which was a very scary situation for us. I had a last minute cancellation for a flight that was booked a few days in advance. I am writing because I feel confused then lost about Allianz policy. First of all, I don't fly often to know all the details of insurances and how it works. Also, when I fly, I don't buy insurances every time. But when I spend extra money and buy the insurance, as a consumer, I expect the fares to be covered. Well, this was my first time purchasing flight insurance, but the claim was denied even though my family had to attend the funeral. I purchased 5 of one-way flight tickets from Columbus, OH to Atlanta, GA for my family for moving. I spent just over $1,100 and I bought insurance just in case if anything happens. Long story short, unexpected funeral invitation came to us and my family had to attend the funeral and cancel the flight.
Airlines don't refund the fare, so I placed a claim attaching a copy of death certificate under the Allianz insurance I purchased. Allianz denied the claim because 'the family member passed away prior to the effective date of insurance'. Well, the family member passed away before I purchased the insurance, but the funeral was during the effective date of insurance. I feel confused and lost because I provided everything they asked for but they still come up with reasons to deny the claim. I am never going to purchase the insurances again.

A very frustrating and time-consuming experience. Allianz Global did finally reimburse us, but the process was lengthy and complicated, and it is still not quite finished, some 4 months after the initial claim. In January, 2017, my wife and I bought tickets to see her ailing father in March and to arrange for his hospice care. We knew there was a possibility he would die soon, so we purchased travel insurance from Global Allianz. He died a few weeks prior to our flight. I immediately cancelled our flight with United Airlines and placed a claim with Global Allianz. It was then that I discovered that, in order to be reimbursed, we could not simply inform Allianz that we had cancelled our flight; instead we had to prove that my father-in-law had died. We had to submit a copy of the death certificate, or a copy of a published obituary.
After about 4 weeks, we were able to obtain a copy of the death certificate from the mortuary (for a fee). We submitted the death certificate, and a few weeks later, we received a check from Global Allianz. At this point, I was thinking, "OK, that was lengthy, and more work than I expected, but it is done." Not so, alas. A couple weeks after getting the check, I received a letter from Global informing me that United Airlines had agreed to reimburse me for the full amount of the tickets, and so I should send Global a check for the full amount, so that I am not double-reimbursed. Now I want to know: if United Airlines was going to reimburse me anyway, WHY did I have to pay for travel insurance? This is starting to look fishy. I won't use the word 'scam', but it does look like some kind of collusion between Global and the airline: everyone, except me, paid nothing.
United Airlines undoubtedly resold my cancelled ticket, and now Global is receiving from the airlines the full cost of my reimbursement. I am the only one who actually paid, for the "insurance". Continuing: We then monitor our credit card statement, and we see that United does indeed credit our account for the cost of the tickets. So I write a check to Global and put it in the mail on June 8. A few days later, we received a second notice from Global reminding us that we have to send them a check. I assumed that my check and their 2nd notice crossed in the mail, so I ignored the second warning letter.
On July 22, I received a 3rd notice from Global, dated July 10, warning me that I must send them a check. I emailed Global, explained the situation, and they replied that they never received my check. So, last Monday, we go to our bank to put a stop-payment order on the original check (for a $15 fee), and mail a second check to Global. This morning, July 28, I received an email from Global. Here is what it said: "I just wanted to let you know that the original check (dated 6/8/17) you sent in finally showed up (a bucket of our mail was found at the Post office). In our previous emails, you stated you were going to reissue a new check to us. Once the new check shows up, I can have the original sent back to you or have our finance destroy the original check. Whichever you advise. My apologies for this confusion."
I just hope they don't lose the second check in that post-office bucket. This has been a very time-consuming process: a lengthy initial online questionnaire when I filed the claim, emails and letters to and from the mortuary, emails and letters to/from Global, trip to my bank, and additional costs to me. My primary complaint is the cost in time and exasperation. Global has been polite in their emails to me, but that does not make up for the frustration. Global's website should make it clear that getting reimbursed will not be simple and it will not be quick: you must *prove* that you had to cancel your travel due to circumstances beyond your control, and this will involve time-consuming paperwork. I am very dissatisfied with this service.

I got sick in London. Just one day left until we returned to Paris. Allianz allowed our hotel to call for a doctor to come to our room at 2:30 am. The doctor arrived with the right medication for me. So easy! The process of filing the claim when we got home was so, so, so easy! We were paid the full amount of our claim within 2 weeks. I have already recommended Allianz to 2 friends and they have purchased. I will continue to recommend this insurance. Great value, great customer service, great investment!

EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE AND FAST REIMBURSEMENT - Earlier this year (2017) I got ill in Saigon, Vietnam and needed to go to the hospital several times. I made sure to keep all the medical records and the payment receipts. Although I had to pay the bills initially at the hospital from my own pocket, within 30 days of sending these documents to Allianz upon return to USA I was reimbursed for the bills almost 100%.

First of all, C/A needs to be aware that Allianz is loading the commentary/reviews section with phony compliments on a nearly daily basis with fake names and fake email addresses. Don't you find it odd that all the compliments sound pretty much the same? "I'm really glad I bought this insurance..." and "gee whiz Allianz, thanks for your spectacular service!..." and so on. Yeah right. It doesn't take a genius to figure that one out.
In any case, these scam artists have a way of doing business. They ask for a preliminary document and get to review it for ten days. Then after they review that one, they ask you for more - and have ten more days to review that. If that's still not enough, they review ask for even more BS documents and of course have ten days to review those... all the while holding on to YOUR money. It can take months to get your money back. Allianz is a scam. The next time you want to buy flight insurance, buy your tickets and THEN look for an insurer online. They're probably all scam artists to one degree or another but at least you won't be handing these particular scam artists your hard earned cash.

The website was Okay. Being able to file the claim online was good. The list of required documents for the claims (there were two) wasn't clearly listed on the site (and the link wasn't working for the list of required documents) so this needs to be improved upon. After filing the claims, I waited a few months to allow time for processing, but no movement happened. After calling the customer service line, the lady was very helpful and was able to satisfy the claim quickly in the end. The 3 overall rating is because of needing to call to "prod" the progression of the claim... This shouldn't have been necessary, but I'm glad there wasn't a lot of fuss in the end.

Received a court order to appear in court so I purchase tickets and at the end of my purchase insurance was offered. I picked up the phone and called Allianz and ask. "If a judge cancel a trial and I do not need to fly can I cancel my flight and get my fare back if I purchase travel information?" Yes you have the order to appear in court then the judge cancels.
So what do I do. I purchase the insurance and the judge canceling the trial. I file the claim submitted the order to appear the email sent telling me that both attorney reached an agreement and the judge canceling the trial. You all still did not refund my money. This was the worst experience I ever had with airline and insurance. I know for sure I will never buy insurance from Allianz Global Assistance. Your customer service rep was rude and refuse to take the information when I called in after get an email stating that my claim will not be refunded. Now I'm out $700 simply because I trusted the word of someone from your company. Never again! I will for now on tell everyone I come in contact with to stay away from Allianz Global Assistance. I purchased this insurance on a trip to Colorado with hopes of not having to use it. As luck would have it, my daughter became ill and was unable to travel. My plane tickets were non refundable and cost me nearly $900. I filed my claim by printing the forms from the website and then uploading them into my claim. All of this was done online and did not require a phone call. Once my forms and documentation were uploaded the claim was processed quickly and I received a check in the mail for the full purchase price of the tickets! Money well spent!! Very user friendly!!

We purchased a policy to cover my daughter's trip to Costa Rica. She fell and sprained her ankle while there and had to see a doctor. Allianz's claim submission process was easy and fair, and we received reimbursement for the medical cost in less than a week! Ticket needed to be cancelled due to military orders change, no issues with this and received money back. Mother in law needed to fly to watch son since father was going on military orders. Mother of son works full time 12-14 hour days and is unable to place child in daycare due to hours.

I don't normally book travel insurance on overseas flights but I did this time and I unexpectedly had to cancel my trip due to high risk pregnancy. My trip was scheduled to take place close to the start of my third trimester and it was the safest decision to make. Allianz worked with me to file the claim, gave me no trouble and processed it in record time. They made the experience hassle free which was much appreciated.

I used Allianz before and they are still just as good. My refund was deposited into my account in a few days. I recommend to always used them when traveling. I phone in advance when I knew there was an issue and they allowed me to choose how I wanted to go about the ticket and refund. I love it!

Mario was very helpful in explaining what I needed to do to be reimbursed for our trip interruption. My dad and I were to make a flight to Thunder Bay, Ontario for my niece's, his grand-daughter's, wedding. There were severe thunderstorms in Dallas/Fort Worth area and no airplanes were flying in or out the Monday morning we were to fly. American said they could get us in the afternoon about 4:40 and we would get into Toronto by 11:30 pm which would cause us to miss our connecting flight on Air Canada to Thunder Bay.
I asked if we could go the next morning and do the same schedule. American could do that but Air Canada charged me a fee for the change. We were to stay in a Hampton Inn in Thunder Bay and they also charged a change fee. Mario told me to email the receipts and fill out the forms online which I did. Our travel agent included the cost of the policy in the quoted cost of the trip. When I had an allergic reaction on board, I saw the doctor. I mentioned this to my travel agent and she helped us fill out the required paperwork - A simple one page form - and submitted everything for us. When we returned home a week later, the check was in our mailbox!!! Excellent service from both our travel agent and Allianz!!! I will never leave home again without it!!!

My father in law ended up in the hospital a day before our trip. At the time we still planned on going. When we arrived at the shuttle the next day we received a phone call stating he may not make it. We turned around and went back to the hospital. Thankful he pulled through. Received my refund. However, I was told refund would be processed and returned to my card. However, I was sent a paper check and wasn't aware of it. I called in to inquire about refund because it was past the ten days that I was told I should receive it by. The representative then told me she was going to cancel check that was already sent & resend it. I told her it didn't make sense, I wasn't checking for paper check, I was checking my card, I didn't know if check had came or not but I will go to post office and check for it. The representative didn't comprehend canceling a check that had been sent and resending a new one will prolong the process. It was a little irritating.

I recently submitted a claim for one night lost in our pre-paid apartment in Italy due to the airline's delay. I included copies of our itinerary, the original boarding passes, the new boarding passes (for a flight 1.5 days later), the letter from the airline admitting blame, and the receipt for our apartment. Allianz was very quick in accepting our claim and issuing the requested settlement. I will continue using Allianz as my go-to travel insurance company.

This is the fourth time I have insured my trips with this insurance company. They were extremely helpful when I contacted them about my cancellation. They told me where I could find the necessary materials on the internet and exactly what I needed from the airlines. Within 10 days I had a check from the insurance company. Sorry to say the check was damaged by the U.S. Postal Service and could not be cashed. Your insurance company said they would sent me a replacement check within 10 days. I will continue to buy trip insurance from this company whenever I take a trip.

My flight was delayed due to mechanical issues, causing me to miss my connecting flight and lose one night at a hotel (costing me $300 plus missed conference time). This policy didn't reimburse for that. When I called I was told I would've had to go to this site and purchase an additional hotel add-on insurance for that coverage, because it wasn't an option when I purchased it from the American Airlines site. Waste of money and will not purchase again. The $14 taxi reimbursement claim did go through quickly.

We submitted a simple claim. We booked travel from Minneapolis to New York in May of 2017. We had to cancel due to an injury that my spouse sustained the night before the trip. We filed a claim submitting ALL OF THE DOCUMENTS that they requested. Checking the status of the claim today we discovered that they are requesting MORE documents that were not initially requested. It does appear that the individual processing this simple claim did not take the time to actually READ and follow up with us. This is requiring more hassles and wait time on the phone endeavoring to get them to understand.

My wife and I had two flights scheduled in September and October of 2016 where we made the mistake of purchasing travel insurance through Allianz Global Assistance. Three days before our scheduled September travel date, my daughter had a previous medical condition reoccur. Our medical provider advised us not to travel and leave her alone. We cancelled both of our trips for September and October and submitted the travel claims with the required information from the medical provider.
Our claims were not approved as the medical condition was not covered. We not only are out the cost of the airline flights, we are also out the money that we wasted on the travel insurance. This is a scam and nothing but a placebo. If you purchase Allianz Travel Insurance you are throwing away your money. They have no intention of "honoring" a claim. They will find some technicality to deny. This was the first time I ever purchased and would never purchase again or recommend anyone to purchase. You are better off buying lottery tickets with your money. You have a better odds for a payoff.

I have been promised a call back within 24 hours on numerous occasions, only to have no contact at all. Each time I call about my claim, the person on the phone needs to talk to a supervisor, then I am told that they are "looking into it" and will get a callback... Never do. I filed a claim, that stated that because of illness, my daughter and I had to postpone a flight to Paris, and as a result, lost non-refundable parts of our travel, plus other expenses. We documented all that was required/Letter from the emergency room doctor that treated my daughter, bills for the transportation, hotels, etc... Proof that we paid for the insurance policy with credit card receipts, etc... and a policy number.
They never denied that my claim was legitimate, only that they were "having trouble" locating the policy in their system - an issue between Air France, and the insurer... where they "lost track" of the policy... I have called numerous times since January 2017 when I made the claim and they keep pushing me off with a promise to call back... saying there is an investigator working on the case, but I cannot ever get her on the phone. This is at the least inexcusable incompetence and probably something closer to Fraud. Will never insure with them again, certainly. Still waiting for my claim to be paid.

I normally buy travel Insurance thru another company, but last year I flew American Airlines and I used Allianz & was so glad I did. The day we were supposed to leave they was predicting an ice storm & flights were cancelled, we left a day early and stayed overnight in Dallas and left for final destination the next day. Our daughter unexpectedly gave birth 6 weeks prematurely and our grandson was in the NICU for several weeks following his birth. We purchased Allianz Global Assistance insurance because of concern about the reliability of a relatively new no-frills, Iceland-based airline that we used to travel from Boston to Paris and back. Sure enough, the airline had "operational difficulties," canceled our return flight, and basically left us stranded in Paris for multiple days, leaving us with large unplanned expenses. After we returned on another airline and filed a claim, Allianz promptly paid us the maximum amount allowed under the policy to help offset our costs. I now heartily recommend it to friends and family whenever they have any doubts about planned travels.

Back in February, I had a medical emergency that delayed my travel and incurred costs as a result. I had Allianz Insurance for the trip. I submitted all required documents. When we got back and my claim was approved! Easy, right? Hah. Several weeks go by... No sign of the check. I call them and they void the check and send another one to my other address, on the mutual assumption that the first one must have just been lost in the mail. Again, we wait over a month. No sign of a check in the mail whatsoever. I call them again. Give them my bank account information. It's been weeks since then. Guess what HASN'T posted to my account?!
Don't bother with Allianz. You may get your claim approved but you will NEVER see a dime of your money. I am giving them one more call (sooo many calls chasing down the money they agreed they owe me! So much frustration!) before I escalate this. There is ZERO reason for it to be JULY and I'm still waiting to see a pay out on my approved claim from FEBRUARY. This should be simple. I don't understand why it hasn't been.

Bad travel insurance experience! We were sold travel insurance by House of Travel recently. Unfortunately we had to make a claim on the Allianz Global Assistance travel insurance policy HOT had sold us. The claim was simple. We had had a mobile phone stolen, despite presenting Allianz Global Assistance with irrefutable evidence and answering all their questions (which could have been asked all at the Time) which were spread out over several weeks. Over one month later despite numerous emails We have still not received a cent! MY MESSAGE TO HOUSE OF TRAVEL AND ANY ONE ELSE CONTEMPLATING USING ALLIANZ GLOBAL ASSISTANCE TRAVEL INSURANCE IS "DON'T USE THEM!" Even the claim process was smooth. I went to American Air website, clicked on the trip insurance tab, filled the claim and uploaded the docs.

I had to cancel a very important trip because I broke my ankle. I was very stressed, but Allianz made it easy and paid the claim after I faxed my information, within a couple days. Thank you for the ease of the process.

I will never travel without insurance. This was such an easy process and I received my claim so quickly. I was quite amazed. I would highly recommend this company. When you travel, you never know what might come up. I sure was glad that I protected myself.

Our insurance claim was handled quickly from the time I filed the claim online till we got a check in the mail. Was less than 2 weeks, Allianz has outstanding customer service and I will use them in the future for our travel insurance and will recommend them to others.

Submitted a claim online along with a picture of invoices for medical bill. Heard back in a few days that claim was approved and reimbursement check mailed. Fast and efficient service. Worth the premium I paid for peace of mind and happy to receive $129 reimbursement for a Dr. Visit and scripts.

Everything was handled via the web and it did go much smoother than I thought it would. I did not see an opportunity for a human interface. And whether the supplied docs were sufficient to process the claim, or not, was a mystery until I received notice that it would be paid. Payment of the claim, however, was the correct decision and timely, albeit somewhat of a surprise.

Due to a bad knee, I was advised to not travel. I filled out the form, had my doctor fill out his part and faxed it to the company. Within a few days I had my full refund. I was very satisfied with the service. I would highly recommend.

I called to file a claim for trip interruption, and was told that I didn't qualify. I felt sure that I did, so I went online to file the claim. I was asked to provide documentation, which I did. Within two or three days, I was informed that my claim was approved and the check arrived shortly thereafter.

We were renting a higher-end car than usual and expected to be driving a lot, so we decided to acquire rental insurance. However, the policies offered by the rental agencies are quite expensive. The policy we acquired through Allianz was quite attractive. A rock flew up and created a chip in the windshield. Filing a claim with Allianz was completely pain-free. I uploaded the supporting document, filled in a simple form and clicked SUBMIT. Within a week or two, our claim was processed, approved and we received a check for the full amount without any hassle or argument whatsoever. I will definitely use them again under similar circumstances.

I spent 2 months arguing with Allianz over a trip that was canceled for medical reasons. They requested multiple documents from multiple doctors. First they said it was a pre-existing condition which both doctors said it was not. Then they claimed I had symptoms prior to buying the insurance even though I provided documentation showing that I was diagnosed well after I bought the policy. They said because I called my doctor to discuss some pain before I purchased the policy I was not eligible.
Everyone I talked to was very rude and apathetic. Twice agents told me "it looks like you woke up one day and decided to have surgery". Given the nature of my surgery I found this very insulting. The amount of medical information and pages they required was ridiculous and invasive. Personally I also believe this to be a HIPPA violation. The agents all talked like they knew more than my doctors. Not one was helpful or polite. I felt that they kept asking for paperwork from doctors until they could find a reason to deny the claim. The entire ordeal was a HUGE waste of time and energy, while I was trying to recover from a major surgery. I don't recommend anyone using Allianz for their travel insurance.

I am completely satisfy with Allianz Global Assistant, and would definitely recommend it to my friends and family. I put a request for a trip delay claim and I was reimbursed in less than 72 hours. I believe it's good to buy this kind of insurance when you can have that kind of peace of mind.

Based on my recent experience with Allianz Global I would not recommend anyone to this company. My wife and I purchased travel insurance, our trip started on the May 13th 2017. We were scheduled to arrive at our destination the same day. However the flight for the first leg of our trip was delayed by several hours and it threw the rest of the flight itinerary into chaos, we missed all our connecting flights and got stranded in San Juan. American provided accommodation but could not get us on a flight to our destination before May 15th, even that was uncertain. We had to get to our destination before the 15th, so we were forced to purchase tickets on LIAT to take us to our destination. We paid $266.85 per ticket in addition I had to pay $60.00 baggage fees which I would not have been subject to if the trip was not interrupted.
We filed separate claims for reimbursement of the cost of the tickets and baggage fees, my wife got her full refund but I was told that I was delayed for only 24 hours so my claim for reimbursement was denied. Instead I was given an allowance $150.00 less than half my claim. So far Allianz is yet to give a reason why my claim was treated differently from my wife's claim. I find this very unprofessional and disrespectful.

We were advised to take out separate car hire excess and this company came with rave reviews. We hired a car in France, unfortunately had a small reverse into a wall, so on returning the car to AVIS, we paid up the excess charge and made our claim with Allianz. Despite downloading all the forms and sending them off along with all receipts, it has been nearly TWO MONTHS but they still haven't paid out. Despite paying Avis direct and sending Allianz the receipt, they then wanted proof we'd paid our Amex bill, so we've sent that off...but still they postpone payment. Strongly DO NOT recommend this Company. When we phone them, they are completely uninterested. It look like we will have to go to court if we want our money. Complete rip off and really suggest you look elsewhere for cover. Appears to be a scamming company.

Had booked a flight to Chicago to help my sister move. The complex she was going to was not ready when it was supposed to be. It was changed for a month. To change my flight would cost me money. But since I had the insurance they were kind enough to pay to change flights. Thanks to them again.

Reps were so polite and patient, and guided me through the process. Richmond-based phone support stood out for their customer service approach. Company forms are much more straightforward than typical contracts, and that makes a huge difference. Have already recommended Allianz to friends.

I was pleasantly surprised when I called to try to recover the cost of my Jet Blue ticket that I had to change... my first time ever to buy airline ticket insurance from Allianz. I will be doing it more often after my last experience - very easy to make a claim and payment was received within a week.
