The process worked like it should. I had flight cancellation insurance, and had to have unexpected surgery so was forced to cancel. Though getting all the documentation necessary was a bit elaborate (e.g., doctor's verification, etc.), people with Allianz were very helpful and I received reimbursement in a timely manner.

I am always hesitant to get travel insurance because I figure it would be money wasted and wouldn't actually cover me. This experience has completely changed my mind. Customer service was prompt and covered my expense when I was forced to find alternate means to make an international connection. My claim was processed promptly and was completely hassle-free. I will always use Allianz Global Assistance if at all possible for my future travel insurance coverage and will definitely recommend them to friends. Thank you for the great customer service!

We always purchase travel insurance through Allianz, but have never had to "use" it by making a claim. The process was simple and very user friendly. Allianz promptly reviewed the claim and issued a full refund of the purchase price of our tickets.

Speedy and hassle-free claims experience. This is obviously a first class operation and puts a high priority on customer service. I had a flight delay, which meant a missed connection on an international flight. I booked at an airport hotel, submitted the claim, and had a check in less than a week.

I tried to file my claim online and ran into some issues that caused some frustration. It is better to speak with a customer representative who was able to walk me through the process. After submitting a lot of required documentation, when I went to check the status of the claim, the information had not been updated. Once again, after speaking with an agent, the status was correctly articulated. I would've rated the service higher had it not been for too many issues with the website, auto-generated replies to my emails, etc. Thank you the successful resolution of the claim.

My mother-in-law is 93 years old and was planning on traveling to Wisconsin when she had a fall and we had to cancel the trip. Although we were very delayed in processing her paperwork, we were paid for her flight expense in less than a week after the filing was submitted. We were very pleasantly surprised and will buy coverage again from Allianz for all of our family on our next trips. It was worth every penny because it was so easy to file.

My baggage was delayed by 6 days on a flight overseas. I filed a claim with the airline and it reimbursed me for only a portion of my expenses. Allianz reimbursed me for the full amount, without hassling me at all. I am so happy that I have travel insurance with Allianz. Have recommended it to all of my friends.

When traveling to Houston in January 2018 our flight was canceled out of SLC because of weather. I called in to Allianz and talked to Ben and gave him my policy number and he said we were covered for $500 a person and gave me a claim number and to get a motel and meal and submit receipts when we returned home. I got a letter from airline about canceled flight and submitted all to them and I called today and was told we did not have covered for the delay in our travel! Not very happy.

Excellent service. My claim was processed quickly and a check was sent within days. I would recommend this service as a safeguard to any unseen events that nature might put out there. In my case, I was sure glad I bought the policy as my claim took place to due incumbent weather which prevented me from attending my scheduled event.

We planned a trip 10/20-10/23. Our Daughter was hospitalized during that time. I Emailed Allianz about starting a claim and they canceled our policy. After several calls, I was finally able to get a new policy and file a claim. We did get paid. It just took lots of follow up and long phone calls-go the runaround.

We were delayed in Orlando due to bad weather in Atlanta. The claim I filed was paid quickly and completely. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that I was unable to amend my claim online after I initially submitted it. The website needs work in that regard. Customer Service on the phone was friendly and helpful and I was able to submit my additional claim information after working with them.

I had very satisfactory experience dealing with Allianz - online process is more straightforward along with even filing, sending required support documents, than trying to get help from telephone support since they really are not knowledgeable about their own processes. Will I ever insure my journey - 100% every time when I've any doubt or questions about the travel I book well in advance. The telephone support staff really need better knowledge of the product - it paid off for me when I had change of plan due to death in family. Thanks.

I bought two tickets and a parking pass to see a KC Chiefs football game. It would have been my son's first game to see, live, in their stadium. He is twelve and got the flu, type A, on the Friday before the Saturday game against the LA Chargers. I had to have my doctor tell us we shouldn’t go. It was a HUGE letdown for us both but thanks to the Allianz purchase protection that I purchased when I bought the tickets, we were TOTALLY covered and got ALL of our money back! I would recommend everyone to purchase Allianz protection just in case the unexpected happens. I will ALWAYS, heretofore, purchase Allianz for my ticket purchases. Thanks to Allianz we will be seeing the Chiefs play this next season.

My husband and I bought insurance for a trip to Vancouver in February 17, 2017. After buying the ticket, my husband saw our family doctor for shortness of breath and was referred to his heart specialist. After tests results came in May, he was diagnosed with blockages and scheduled for heart procedure on June 8th... He was advised by cardiologist not to travel. We cancelled the ticket and asked for a refund. We got direction to a website and proceed to follow a long process. We filled out forms with provided medical reports from the cardiologist and our family doctor paying additional dollars for each doctor's letter. December 2017, the insurance advised that they determined it was a pre-existing condition. We have concluded that travel insurance which cost $75 plus $70 for doctor fees was of no use for us. Most health issues for seniors are pre-existing and should not be sold unless the air travel goes wrong. Usually that can be covered by the airlines.

We bought concert insurance due to our ages... Fortunately, our health was fine and unfortunately...on the concert date, very bad snow storm hit the area. Didnt realize that weather was covered and we rec'd a refund after making the proper application and it was rather quick.

Allianz was swift to respond to my claim. I provided the minimum documentation that I was able to produce as I filed and they used that as sufficient to process. My only complaint is that I was unable to talk to an individual after I filed my claim. I tried several times to reach someone, but was unable to make my way through the phone system as I actually wanted to withdraw my claim since I ended up using my flight. I could not make the logistics work to attend the funeral that prompted the claim, so I carried on with my original plans. Although I received a check, I will not cash it. I have since purchased another policy on my next flight.

Because of a series of delays and errors on the part of our booking agent we missed a large chunk of time on our vacation. The insurance allowed us to be reimbursed for that time lost and gave us the adequate compensation for our vacation time that was somewhat fractioned as a result of the factors out of our hands. It was totally worth it to get the insurance and we will not book a trip without it- moving forward.

I purchased the Allianz trip insurance with my credit card in my name, all correspondence, i.e. doctor's notes, receipts, etc. were all in my name Karen **...NOT Robert **. Yet all notices I received from you were addressed 'Dear Robert', including the reimbursement. Of course, my husband was able to cash the check, so no harm done, right? I just think it's poor business to treat your customers with so little respect as not to know their name . Especially when it's on every form of correspondence you received! It's upsetting and offensive to me as a person and as a woman. It takes me back to the days when I needed a husband's approval before I could get credit. We've come too far to be treated in such a manner.

I always get the insurance, just in case, but this time I actually needed it. Once I provided the necessary documents, payment was made in about 2 days. I will continue to use purchase the insurance. It’s worth it if you need to cancel a costly trip, with no notice.

Having an unexpected health issue cancel my trip, I was expecting the process of dealing with an insurance company to be long and tedious. I certainly was not expecting a quick, easy and efficient process of submitting my claim and receiving my money back. I was skeptical about ticket insurance, you always hear about "the fine print". I was very happy I took out insurance on event tickets for a recent Nashville trip. As luck would have it a few friends got sick and could not make the trip. The experience was fantastic. Expedient, no hassle. Had a travel insurance through Travelocity, it was not honored because it was less than a 24 hour interruption. We stayed at Dallas overnight due to bad weather. I am going to use this insurance in future with confidence that it won't let me down.

I am having a very bad experience with Allianz. In November, I traveled on Caribbean Airlines under Allianz's insurance policy which covered lost/damaged bags. My bag was damaged (handles ripped off etc). Caribbean Airlines refused to take responsibility and told me that I had to file my claim with Allianz insurance. After doing so, and submitting the repair bill from Louis Vuitton, I am being asked for claim forms from Caribbean Airlines who did not give me the paperwork. I am also asked to produce a receipt for the bag purchase. This is absurd to say the least. I have moved several times and no longer have that receipt. Who keeps receipts of the sort after purchasing luggage? This is a classic case for the Attorney General's office to get involve in this scam that is being perpetrated by Allianz travel insurance.

I cancelled a flight and cruise for personal reasons. There was a lot of paperwork and some delays. I was concerned due to some online reviews. However, was pleased to get the refund I expected on both the flight and the cruise. I understand the paperwork is a necessity. A little patience and a little follow up will be rewarded in the end. When I called I was tired and panicked. My flight was cancelled, and I needed a hotel. The rep calmed me down and found one fairly nearby. Before I could get there, I found a flight at another airport. I took a $90 cab to get that flight. It was easy to file the claim. I was promptly reimbursed for the cab and the meal I had while waiting. Great experience as far as insurance processing.

I wouldn't buy this insurance next time. My flight was delayed 24 hours due to the power outage. “Unfortunately, the trip interruption benefit of the policy covers only if the common carrier has a complete cessation of services for 24 hours or more due to severe weather or natural disaster.”

I have been purchasing individual trip insurance from Allianz for the past year or so and after this latest experience from the bomb cyclone snowstorm that hit the US, encourage everyone to purchase Allianz trip insurance. I was worried that Allianz was going to nickel and dime and be unreasonable with my claim, and that was added stress to what was already a frightening experience because there were no hotel vacancies on Provinciales.
I called Allianz when I started to realize how bad the weather situation was, and I was able to speak to a live person about what my policy covered and what my options were. It was straight to the point and so helpful in helping me determine what my options were. I was then worried that Allianz would not put my safety first, but it did, and that enabled me to make it home with as minimal stress as possible when enduring a three day trip delay and cancellation. When I submitted my claim, I also called Allianz and spoke to an agent to assist me in how to make my claim and I received helpful and instructive answers provided to me in a patient and professional way. Mostly, I am glad that Allianz lived up to its end of this policy without a fight and argument as I have encountered with other insurance companies. As a result, I will probably always purchase Allianz trip insurance. Thank you.

I was affected by the bomb cyclone travel delays in early Jan 2018. Fortunately my annual travel insurance covered weather issues. I called the hotline to understand what I should do to make a claim. Using the website to file a claim and related documents was easy and responsive. I got approved and had my check mailed to me in 2 weeks.

I got caught up in storm related flight delays in Early January. Needed to rebook my flight and add another night in Vegas. JetBlue had cancelled 800 flights the day of my scheduled flight. When rebooking the following day I opted for extra room seating as I wouldn't be able to sit with my girlfriend. I was very pleased to receive a check from Allianz within 2 weeks of my return for my entire claim. Thanks.

The filing process is cumbersome and I found it to be quite confusing. I logged onto the website and attempted to file a claim. I had multiple losses so it was confusing to understand what receipts or documentation they needed for the claim and if you upload for one category, did it get counted for the other categories. Ultimately, I had to upload duplicate documents to get them to process my claim... and it finally was approved. Lastly, they should have an automatic amount approved for meals because who keeps those receipts??

I was genuinely surprised by the ease and speed with which my claims were processed. Granted, I only submitted a few small claims (mainly food expenses due to an excruciatingly long delay) but it was still pretty impressive. The website and online submission process was very easy and intuitive.

I had a small travel insurance claim due to inclement weather that shut down most of the airport resulting in a delay of more than 12 hours. I was happy with the result, as I imagine most people are if their claim is approved. My only feedback is that after you submit the required documents online, there is no confirmation email or anything that shows the documents are received. This caused some confusion after I uploaded the documents online then went back on a few days later to check but it was not clear if more information was needed from me, or if what I had provided was sufficient. I ended up loading a document for each doc type, even when there wasn’t one, such as a police report (for that I uploaded a doc that said “none). Overall I was happy with the process, and my claim was paid timely after it was approved, but improvement in the online process would be nice.

I purchased the insurance for a Boston trip flight that my son and wife were taking to audition for colleges. A winter storm came through and the airlines cancelled the flight and the college cancelled the appointment based on the forecast. I got my flight and hotel money returned fairly easily after getting advice from customer service on the procedure. This was a real life saver! Will definitely purchase again for future travel!

Every person I have spoken to has been very helpful, whether it was for obtaining insurance for a trip or for the claim I had to file for trip cancellation. After I had filled out the claim and sent the proper documents I was reimbursed for the trip within ten days. I do not normally buy insurance since my favorite airline is so reliable and helpful. I was flying a different carrier this time so I decided to purchase the insurance when purchasing the tickets. I am so thankful I did. This carrier ended up bumping my son and I off the flight home. It was an international flight which resulted in over a 29 hour delay to our trip before a flight home was arranged. Since they mixed up our bags and some flew ahead of us I had to buy some fresh items. I didn't even think of my insurance at the time, but remembered it when we came home. I contacted Allianz and was pleasantly surprised that my additional expenses during those 30 hours would be covered. The online claim system made it easy to submit the documentation.

Because of the fires in Southern California, we had to curtail our vacation and return home 5 days early, at an additional cost of almost 1000 for me and my husband. I applied for my travel protection benefits on my policy on Jan 4, and on Jan 17 I already received the money that I spent extra. The proof was straightforward (the modified itinerary, with the attached costs), but what impressed me was that although we had separate policies (for me and my husband), they handled the claim for him as well, based on my request in the commentary to my claim (of course, I provided the number, etc), but I did not have to start a new claim.
That was appreciated, because it cut down on hierocracy. It goes to show you that you can never be too careful... travel insurance proved essential in recouping the costs that we had to incur for no fault of our own and Allianz proved to be a serious and forthcoming company. Did not give us the runaround, did not request impossible to provide proofs, etc. Thank you, Allianz!

Thank you Allianz for making the best of my storm layover in Charlotte, NC pleasant. I was traveling from Frankfurt to Burlington, Vermont via Charlotte when the Grayson Storm delayed all flights north. I was able to rent a car and pay my North Carolina a visit and reacclimate to east coast time. I got my rental car reimbursed and flew north two days later. I will buy insurance every time. You just don't know when you will need it.

Our travel plans got canceled. But this time I did something unusual I bought Allianz Global Insurance. Did not knew how it was going to work but as soon as I knew about the training cancellation, I went to the Allianz email received after purchasing the insurance and filled out a claim, uploaded the documents required and within few days they indicated me that a refund was approved and without any nuisance I received it. The online Allainz claim process was easy and accessible from my smart phone. On the day of my flight cancellation, I immediately went to work filing the claim on my phone. I was able to take screenshots from my confirmation emails and upload them into my claim. It was remarkably simple. That finished up the documentation requirements. Purchased travel protection for airfare for the winter holidays; traveled with my wife and two toddler children to see family in Alaska. And 3 hours prior to my first return flight, received notice that last flight was already cancelled. Called airline on number provided to reschedule and got call back while boarding first flight. Had to return home for military service, and tried multiple times to reschedule. Earliest airline could get me home was 48 hours later.
Called Allianz to see what assistance they could provide. However, the representative stated that the only way to know is to pay for a hotel or a car rental and apply for a claim, and MAYBE it MIGHT be covered. Not an ideal response for trying to plan, while traveling with little children for over 20 hours already. I rented a car and returned home and applied for a claim. I was reimbursed for the all the additional costs incurred, which is GREAT! I recommend providing empathetic customer service during stressful situations to help customers make the best informed decisions as possible, rather than vague and unhelpful maybes.

We had a 10 day cruise scheduled and had to cancel because all flights were cancelled from our home to the port city because of bad weather. We were unable to begin our trip due to illness and had to cancel our flight. After notifying Allianz, they recommended we alert the airline, which we did, so we would not be considered a no show. We were told to download documents to process the claim and also seek medical consultation. After returning the claim forms, we received a check to cover the cost of the flight. Unfortunately, the check was damaged in the mail and had to be reprocessed. I was assured that it would be deposited into my account. I do not have confirmation of that at this time. So they did cover my claim but also sent an email and letter saying it was denied without giving a reason and explaining how to start arbitration proceedings. Was confusing, b/c then a few days later a check arrived. Would recommend giving a reason if claim is denied. Also found the site to enter claim confusing. I think I entered the claim amount twice, maybe that was why it was denied? But I did receive a reimbursement. Anyway, happy I got the check, but the process was confusing and at first I was annoyed b/c on the phone the rep said it should be covered and then the initial communications I received said it was denied without explaining why.

I planned a trip to visit my military spouse about two months in advance. About a month out my wife received orders at the last minute that would take her out of the area during the time I had intended to visit. My husband and I were so excited to travel to Italy for our honeymoon in late December, 2017. When we booked our trip, we made the decision to pay for travel insurance through Allianz. Little did we know at the time, that we would actually need to use it. When we boarded our flight from the United States to Rome, we could immediately tell we were sealed in a metal, germ-infested tube with sick people. Due to the fact that I am pregnant, and apparently your immune system does not operate at the highest capacity when you’re pregnant, I could already tell that I was starting to get sick by the time we landed in Rome.
The sickness only progressed that night and the following day; I had a fever, couldn’t stop coughing, my ears were ringing, and I couldn’t breathe through my nose. I got on my phone and tried to research any OTC medicines available in Italy that were safe to take while pregnant – I found none. Later that night I woke up and could not stop coughing, so much so that I entirely lost my voice. My husband and I decided that the safest approach would be for us to fly home so that I could see a doctor and get some medication that is safe to take while pregnant. We called Delta to see about booking an early flight home and, thankfully, the last two seats on a flight back to the U.S. that next morning were available – at a significant cost, of course.
We paid the fee for the tickets and checked out of our hotel (which had already been paid in full for an additional 4 nights) that morning. By the time we boarded our final plane home and the plane reached 20,000 feet, my right ear felt like it was going to burst – I was in tears. We landed in the U.S. late on January 1 and were able to get into Urgent Care that following morning. The doctor told me that had we have stayed in Italy without medication, my eardrum would have burst and this acute respiratory infection could have turned into a pneumonia, which would have greatly affected my pregnancy. Not knowing what information I would need for Allianz, I went ahead and had the doctor write me a short letter stating why our early return home was necessary.
The next week I contact Allianz and was emailed several forms that needed filled out in order to proceed with a claim. I sent all the forms and required documentation back and, within two weeks, I had a refund check in my mailbox. Allianz refunded the money we spent for our return flight, along with our hotel fees for the four nights we were unable to stay. The next time you book a long vacation and are contemplating whether or not travel insurance is necessary, do not hesitate to purchase the protection.

After scrambling to buy a new one way flight to get out of town I submitted that flight expense to Allianz for review, but didn't expect to get all, if any, back. Stay away! This company has absolutely terrible business practices. The Point-of-Sale verbiage asks if you'd like to cover your travel investment, but it does not, when you make the selection, enumerate the very narrow reasons why your trip might be covered. We bought the insurance and then had to change our travel plans for reasons beyond our control. I filed a claim and was rejected because it was not one of the "named perils" of the policy. When I argued that it did fall within one of the reasons that they list, they directed me to subpoint 4 on page 14 which excludes my reason. How was I to know, when I checked the box for insurance while buying my airfare, that subpoint 4 on page 14 existed? This is shady business practices. Don't waste your time. If they can at all avoid it, they won't help. They didn't bother to help me.

Our departure and arrival were delayed over 48 hours, so the airline canceled, then refunded our airline tickets. No problem. We had purchased non-refundable theater tickets for shows at our destination before we left. I submitted those to Allianz, but reimbursement for the theater tickets was initially denied. The agent on the phone told me I did not insure the theater tickets, so they were not eligible. When I asked her about “prepaid expenses” under “Trip interruption coverage” on page 8, section 2: What this policy includes, she told me that the theater tickets did not qualify. When I asked her for an example of a prepaid expense that would qualify, she had no answer. I finally was reimbursed after I e-mailed a dispute, for which I was very grateful. But the customer service from the very rude agent was well below any acceptable standard. I will most likely buy the insurance again, but if needed, I will not waste my time trying to speak with an agent.

I filed a claim and included my AMEX Bill, a copy of thee itinerary and a Physician's form as required. I spoke to 2 customer service reps. Very poor command of English. The second one had to consult with someone else every time I asked a question. The claimed that they couldn't reimburse me because they are required by law to only reimburse the passenger. What a crock!

They guided me to the website where I completed my claim info. They reviewed and paid in timely fashion. No f/u calls were needed. Very professional and efficient. We recently had air reservations to spend Christmas with our children/grands (1st time in 5 years) but I came down with Shingles the first of December! Not only painful, heartbreaking, and disappointing, but we immediately thought we would be out the airfare for both of us. I contacted Allianz immediately and filed a claim for reimbursement. Allianz was prompt in contacting us with a request for the needed information and away we went. They kept us informed of the ongoing process and within 3-4 weeks our claim had been approved and reimbursement made. The whole process was certainly faster and less painful than the case of Shingles... which is on-going. Thank you Allianz.

I got a response the next business day, and within one week the claim was approved and a check was mailed. While traveling in Bali I had a very bad slip and fall. Allianz covered it all. Then I was impacted by the Volcano... Allianz covered it all. On a recent trip from DFW to LAX, my wife became ill and required special medical treatment. We were concerned about her ability to make the return flight home in the cramped and crowded economy section where we had reservations. Our son volunteered his airline miles to purchase first class tickets home for us. This would ease the travel burden for my wife and place her much closer to the restroom, if needed. We canceled our origin return reservations and when we arrived home filed a claim with Allianz for that portion of our trip. Allianz responded quickly to our request and settled our claim within a week after we filed it. No hassle, no fret, just efficient and positive service. We couldn't ask for better treatment.

I had recently purchased tickets to an event as a Christmas gift for my stepfather, and purchased ticket insurance in case something came up and he was unable to go, the DAY OF the event he was unable to make the event due to being sick, he refused to go to the doctors as it was only the flu and there was nothing they could really do for him anyways. (And I was unaware he HAD to go in order to get my money back, as they don’t state this during ticket purchasing, unless you look under ALL of the FAQs which took me quite awhile to get to.)
So therefore I filed a claim to receive my money back and they rejected it because I did not have a doctors note stating he was sick. So now I am out over $200!!! I am sooo upset!!! I called to talk to a representative and they were useless. They just kept saying sorry and didn’t give me any other options I could do. I will NEVER go through them again! Everyone just make sure you have the proper “excuse” according to the representatives and the proper documentation. According to them, being very ill, a death, a motor vehicle accident TO THE EVENT, and a cancellation in the event is their ONLY proper excuses. WITH DOCUMENTATION. I know this is mostly my stepfathers fault for not going to the event but if I would have known this I MYSELF would have just went to the event but now we are out over $200!!!

On my recent trip to Ireland my travel companion and I faced some major delays that were frustrating to us. The airlines took care of us and made up our day we missed, however, we had to make arrangements in order to make the flight out which required us to book a hotel near the airport the night before since it was on a Sunday. In October, 2016, my wife and were in New York vacationing. The next leg of our trip involved flying to West Virginia to visit my aunt for four days before flying home to BC. A day or two before our flight to WV, my aunt called to tell us to abort the visit due to the arrival of Hurricane Andrew that weekend. She said that residents of her area were being warned of impending strong winds, flooding and power outages. She said that they would likely have to leave their home. We quickly changed our flights and left New York to return to Canada and then filed a trip interruption claim with Global.
Over the next six weeks we received requests for all kinds of proof about our flight changes, costs and in particular, proof about the weather associated with Hurricane Andrew in the West Virginia area! I was forced to review all kinds of news stories, weather warnings, etc. and send them links to show how bad this situation was. I responded to every request, no matter how absurd, within a day of receiving it via email and or hard copy. Eventually, I received a letter from Allianz stating that we had taken too long to get the information to them and we were denied our claim. By this time, it was late December and I was about to leave for another trip, so I did not write a review or pursue the company for our loss.
Then, only six weeks ago, I was vacationing in Mexico and had an accident while paragliding and broke my leg. From the hospital, on November 22, I phoned Allianz and told them the FULL story. The phone conversation was very positive and the associate told me that I would be fully covered for my change of flights and extra travel expenses to get me and my leg back to Canada. I returned to Canada on November 26 and had the completed claim in the mail by November 29. On December 10, I received correspondence requesting me to sign a medical coverage waiver for my BC Medical. This was confusing as I was not claiming medical expenses. (Thankfully, that policy was provided by TUGO through BCAA). However, I had that form signed and back to the post office in thirty minutes.
Then, on January 2, I received another request for me to complete more medical forms. I called the company. The associate I spoke with looked at her screen and said, "we've made an error. We thought you were claiming for medical expenses..." She then looked up my name and found the actual claim and promptly informed me that I was being denied because the accident happened while I was paragliding, an excluded activity. I reviewed the policy which I should have done earlier and sure enough, paragliding is excluded but so is just about every other kind of physical activity anyone might do for fun.
Here is the wording from the policy: "Amateur or professional sports, or other athletic activities, which are organized and/or sanctioned. Full-contact bodily sports, skydiving, hang gliding, bungee jumping, parachuting, mountain climbing (where ropes or guides are normally used), caving, heli-skiing, any skiing or snowboarding outside marked trails, any motorized race or motorized speed contest." What really bothers me is that one of their own associates heard me say from my hospital bed that I was paragliding when the accident occurred and still gave me every indication that my claim was bonafide.
From these two experiences, I have concluded that this company is a poor choice for any kind of travel insurance and I certainly would not recommend Allianz to anyone shopping for a travel insurance company. I should also note that BCAA's TUGO plan does cover paragliding (as long as it is not for professional purposes) and that I received full compensation for my medical expenses by December 19. I will never respond to an offer from a travel agent such as Expedia to sign up with Allianz when I purchase a plane ticket again.

We were scheduled to fly to San Francisco to spend Thanksgiving with my son and his family. Shortly before our trip, I developed a respiratory virus, followed by deep vein thrombosis. My physician advised me not to fly and completed the physician statement. I was able to file my claim online and submit all necessary documentation. The claim was approved and I received a full refund in a short amount of time. I will never book air travel again without insurance.

I submitted a claim, unsure if it would qualify for trip cancellation reimbursement, due to the unusual nature of the circumstances. I was pleasantly surprised when it was approved. My daughter-in-law was scheduled for a C-section, so I scheduled a flight to be there for the birth. Two days prior to the travel date, her Dr. decided to cancel the C-section and allow the pregnancy to continue normally. Since the flight was a non-refundable fare, had the claim not been approved, I would have had to eat the $300+ cost of the ticket. Thank you Allianz.

I have never purchased trip cancellation insurance for a domestic flight, but did so recently, as I'm a caregiver for elderly parents & was concerned plans may be interrupted. Most unfortunately, a couple of days after booking, my father's health took a bad turn, necessitating change of plans. As required by your company, support paperwork was submitted and refund issued a few weeks thereafter. While I have no immediate plans for travel, I will not hesitate using Allianz Global Assistance for future needs, and am most grateful for your kind assistance and timely response in this matter. My husband became ill and couldn't travel as planned. It took some work to get all of the documents uploaded but they were very helpful and the refund was a full refund of the ticket price. I chose for it to go directly to our bank account. It was fast and I was pleased. I'm sure it wouldn't have been so easy if I hadn't checked the documents first and taken the one with us that the Dr. needed to fill out. I'm not sure how it would have been if the circumstances had been different but for medical, it really paid off.

I am very happy with the response and timeliness from Allianz with regards to a claim for Travel Delay and Travel Interruption. Although the website is a bit frustrating and confusing in terms of how to list and itemize based on the Company's specific language around things, I was able to navigate and upload all relevant documents. When I did call in for Customer Service assistance, the first person I spoke with really did not understand my request or provided any clarity. I Called back and got someone very helpful and knowledgeable and was able to finalize my claims submission. Bottom line, definitely worthwhile to buy trip insurance. You just never know what might happen. I would highly recommend Allianz Travel Insurance.

We booked our condo far ahead and then the case we had given legal depositions on did not end by end of 2017 like we had been told, so we will have a court house judgement 1/17/18. Son in law back surgery 1-12-18 that requires us to be home not traveling. They can not possibly come along and I am needed to watch their toddler. I woke up vomiting this morning, and I had a flight booked for this afternoon. I called up expecting to have some simple paperwork to do, but I was informed that I was required to go to a doctor or a clinic that would then add $50.00 as a doctor's visit fee to this experience. You expect me to drag myself out of a sick bed? What is the point of having travel insurance if it doesn't cover unforeseen situations like getting sick? I didn't want to cancel my flight, but only to postpone it. I will not recommend Allianz Global Assistance to anyone I know, and I have many retired friends who are like me who travel the globe. They would have had me spending more money going to the doctor to have him fill out a form than it would cost for the trip itself. I just moved and Kaiser isn't in my area so I'm paying for a provider out of pocket. The fact they have you jump through so many hoops is a joke. Even minimum wage workers would have the time it takes to file a claim cost less than the ticket itself for their time. SCAM SCAM SCAM!

Purchased event ticket protection from Allianz Global Assistance on July 21, 2017 for event on December 7, 2017. Snowed day of event and was unable to drive to event. Road closures, when I had tried to drive vehicle slid across road. I called, got claim number and thought this would be covered due to positive response I got. I was then sent a survey after making me fill Allianz would reimbursed me for tickets. Was told wait ten days for response. Has been twenty days with no response so I checked myself and they refused to reimburse me. This company pushes their insurance but refuses to pay claims.

I had several doctors visits, X-rays, scans, medicine prescription and Allianz took care of it without any problems. This is the first time I use Allianz and I had a good experience. They paid promptly with no questions asked as I provided everything they asked for. However, we did have a little hiccup because I took out the insurance for my mother Maria. She got sick and couldn't make the trip but instead of Allianz refunding the payment to me who paid for the insurance they sent a check out with my mother's name on it which made it very difficult to deposit since my mother does not live in the same state as me. I recommend issuing refunds the same way it was paid. With all that being said, I would use Allianz again.

I found the claim process and document collection a bit confusing (which may have been due to my feverish head); however, once I got it all together, my refund was deposited in my account with surprising speed. My overall impression is very positive and I will definitely take another policy out with Allianz for future travel. It was easy enough to purchase travel insurance from Allianz when booking an international flight for my nephew through Aer Lingus (the only reason for a one star rating here). However, it's been a completely different and frustrating experience trying to have an eligible claim paid for a hospital ER room visit after he sustained an injury while visiting my family here in the US. Having brought him to the ER to be examined, the invoices are being billed to me.
After submitting a claim to Allianz with the hospital’s and physician invoices...silence. After I received reminder invoices a month later and then contacted Allianz Claims, his mother was told (they would not speak to me citing privacy) the invoices were not enough and that Allianz needed more detailed UB-04 Hospital Billing Forms. After I contacted the hospital to request them and provided them with Allianz Travel Claims analyst name, phone number and fax number...silence.
Contacted the analyst, got a 'we're looking into it' reply. Same story for several months. Finally after my sister complained to Allianz, she was told that Allianz's "partner" in Canada was handling the matter. After another period of silence and another round of invoices, my sister followed up again with Allianz and received an email reply from a very nice person in the Allianz Travel Claims with his "sincere apologies for the delay in our correspondence" (note: there was none), and that having reviewed the case, he would "kindly advise that a guarantee (sic) of payment for the emergency bills has been placed with the providers and the bills are currently being processed." He did state in his email reply that the process "may take a few weeks from start to finish, and in the meantime it’s common to receive chaser e-mails from the providers directly".
He promised that once he received an update regarding the bills, he would "be in touch". Well, another four weeks later, and not only has there been silence again but I received a Final Notice today from the hospital and a stern warning that the outstanding invoice will be referred to a debt collection agency if not paid in 15 days. I've worked in insurance for over 20 years, and ironically as a privacy officer for over a decade, and I've never seen a claim handled so poorly or such a lack of communication.
Admittedly, travel insurance is not one where a purchaser ever hopes to use it. I bought it for peace of mind because it was my nephew who was traveling and I paid for his airfare. It's been anything but. I'll likely now need to pay the invoices for several thousand dollars in order to avoid tarnishing my credit history, because I simply don't trust that Allianz will pay them on time or ever - the ways things have been going. I'll never buy travel insurance from Allianz again, and to be honest, shame on Aer Lingus for partnering with an entity that acts this way and markets its insurance products to those booking its flights.

I planned to drive our motorhome to Arizona and fly home for the holidays. It broke down in Southern Oregon and could not be fixed in time to continue so tried to get the airfare canceled. 3 weeks in advance the airline would not cancel so went to Allianz to get the refund. After a month of sending duplicate forms and phone call we still can't get A refund. We have even been hung up on by several rude employees. It is a ripoff! Don't waste your money.

We experienced an almost 12-hour delay due to airline issues. We arrived exhausted and hungry close to midnight and had to buy food via room service, very pricy, but necessary. Allianz helped us immediately and reimbursed promptly.
