    I have been traveling back and forth monthly to Dallas from Rochester NY to visit with my husband who just took a new job there. During the last trip that I took a Nor'easter canceled the first leg of my trip and thus missed a connection. Due to the weather and all the cancellations, the airline I booked with was only able to get me on a flight 2 days later.     I filed three claims for my policy (trip interruption, trip delay, and baggage delay) and when I asked what further information was needed to process the trip interruption, as I had sent everything that I was told to by the person who walked me through the process via phone. I have since received the checks for the other two claims, but have still received no word on the other issue. As if a bad trip experience wasn't enough, this adds insult to inconvenience.

    During our cruise we both had to visit the medical center for flu related symptoms. I also made another visit for an eye irritation. The policy covered all our visits. Thanks! My concern is, the website only allows you to file a single claim. My other 2 claims had to be sent via email. The claims were totally paid after a call to customer assistance.     Invoices are in Euros not dollars - Your staff needs to correct the amount that was reimbursed. The currency is not one to one. The daily rate is established daily. Your bank can look up the conversion rate and Google can do it hourly. When I send my check it was $270.00 and not $210.00.

    Submitted our claim for airline cancellation and they paid is in a reasonable amount of time. Submitted a different claim for trip insurance through Trip Mate, two months ago, and we are still waiting! Allianz is MUCH better than Trip Mate. Trip Mate puts you on long hold and the only info you get from them is: "Your claim is on an adjuster's desk and will be reviewed soon."

    For a recent family trip we purchased travel insurance - and our daughter caught the flu. 100% I will purchase your product again, but the claims submission process was nothing short of an annoyance. Our dr. faxed in the form to Allianz 3 times before it was marked as "received" from your end. I submitted all documentation at the beginning of the claim. Between confusing messaging in emails, and presented during the process - I uploaded the same documents several times. For example, your instructions mention the need for XYZ forms. Below that shows what has been submitted - my documents were in line with the requirements. Somewhere else on the screen it mentioned I didn't have all documentation necessary to support the claim submission process. So... which is it?

    Your messaging reinforces the 10 business days to update the status of a claim. MANY more days than that had passed, and when I called to check on the status of the claim I got an automated message pointing me back to the website. Frustrating to say the least. Again, I'll purchase the product because it has inherently high value. However, ya'll could do some work to fix this customer experience.

    I bought trip insurance with Allianz and the flight ended up getting cancelled by the carrier because of weather/wind. It was cancelled when I got to the airport, so I had no awareness of any issue until at the last moment. The carrier refunded my ticket value but said I had to file a claim with Allianz to get my $21 trip insurance back, so I did. However, they rejected the claim saying that my claim was "foreseeable" because it was "weather" and "on tv", even though I didn't know about any problems until getting to the airport. They then refused to refund me my $21 insurance because I had made a claim and that "activated" the insurance and considered it "used".

    On the phone, they passed me around to 4 different people with blanket no responses to anything with no wiggle room, and even spoke to me condescendingly when I was asking for my options saying that it was my fault that I had filed a claim. Overall, horrible customer service experience spending 1.5 hours on the phone getting berated for doing as instructed and complete unwillingness to look for options to help me not completely lose the trip insurance that I never used.

    I followed all the procedures and sent a file due to a delayed luggage. Allianz sent me a message saying that several documents were missing and that the copy of the receipts was not clear! (All the docs were sent from my side.) They sent me a final request giving me a 30 days notice to a wrong address. When I finally got the mail and called three times, they refused to provide me my own copies and said that my kids are making too much noise in the background, saying that she doesn’t hear me when I asked to talk to the management (but she perfectly answered to me before)! Because of “my noisy kids” they put me on hold and disconnected the call! The customer service rep was really rude. Don’t recommend.

    I really appreciate the quick resolution and payment of my claim. However, it was very confusing dealing with your phone representatives. I filled out the online claim form and I was confused about what additional support documentation was needed. When I called your customer service line I got conflicting explanations of what to do.

    First I was told that I had to contact the airline myself and request documents confirming that the flight was delayed and re-routed. Then when I called JetBlue, they told me that the information is usually requested by Allianz directly and they were confused as to why I was calling and what I was asking for. Then when I called Allianz back the representative again told me that I had to get the information myself from the airline. In the meantime, I checked the Allianz website to see the status of my claim before wasting anymore time calling back and forth... and I saw that my claim had already been paid and direct deposited! So while I appreciate the quick payment, it would be nice to have your representatives be a bit more informed and not give customers the run-around. Thank you!

    I submitted a claim for the second half of a round trip to Europe. The first half of the ticket was used. The second half of the ticket was two segments from the west coast of the US to London. At some point American Airlines changed the second segment of the second half of the trip flight number and time and issued a new ticket number for that segment. The reservation ID for the entire trip remained the same. I supplied medical documentation for the cancellation, and the cancellation notice from the airline which showed the cancelled reservation code — both ticket numbers were on the cancellation notice generated by American. I was paid only on the first leg of the two leg return trip to Europe.

    When I called upon receipt of the claim check, I was told that I would have to resubmit all documentation in an email format to be reviewed. This is very irritating, in that all documentation was correctly supplied to you originally, and someone has obviously misread— or not followed through on the trip segments covered. Having me re-create the entire claim again – – which I’m sure is sitting in your computer—-, without being able to discuss it with me on the phone, is a huge waste of my time and yours. I am in the middle of photocopying, scanning, and forwarding all of the paperwork to you now for a second time. Your customer service is really lacking. You should be able to intelligently discuss a previously submitted claim that there are problems with, without having to have the entire file of paperwork re-created by the customer.

    I've always taken the insurance when we are flying in the winter, because you just never know what happens a month after you book your flight. Funny, I've never needed it. But it only takes once to make me a repeat customer! My son woke with a fever the day before our 6 am flight. He had a sore throat the previous day, then his fever spiked. He was too sick to fly. We had booked the economy tickets to go meet an agent in Atlanta and now couldn't make it and wouldn't be getting our money back! You don't get it back on economy!

    We were forced to change our travel plans due to a major snowstorm in New York. We booked the next available fight, which was 5 days later than our original flight. Unfortunately, the resort rates were higher and I was out of pocket $858 (as per calculations by Allianz).     After purchasing trip insurance for $1000, I had a claim for $1142 due to a cancelled flight due to weather in Africa. After submitting all required documentation, Allianz sent me a cheerful letter of congratulations settling my claim for $200. After not being able to reach anyone at Allianz by phone, I called my travel agent, who referred the company. She was able to get my claim settled for the full amount, as she refers a lot of clients. Allianz was able to "find" additional coverage, and paid the claim in full. While I am happy to have received the full amount of my claim, I'm pretty sure that had I been acting on my own, I would have had to settle for $200 on a $1142 claim. Insurance company at its worst--collect the premium, don't pay the claim. Will not use them in the future.

My mother fell and was hospitalized on the day of my insured flight. I was asked to get HER medical records. That is not possible and WHY would her doctor want to spend time out of his day to do this paperwork.     We are a very long Allianz customers. I think it's always smart to have trip protection. After years of not need it Allianz’s help, last month, our flight was cancel due to severe weather, and the airline changed our departure date to the same date of our return. Yes, I’m not making it up! I called Interjet customer service, and asked them to please change the date they arbitrarily give us, and the answer was no!     So I never requested services from this company - my card was charged without my consent. I did not provide my credit information to Allianz, Ticketmaster did, so I understand the situation may not be their fault, even though I did select no to insurance when I purchased tickets through Ticketmaster (which will be addressed with them).

    So the reason for my complaint is due to the way I was treated by Allianz customer service. I explained the situation and no compassion or understanding was addressed. The questions I was asking like "why do you have my card on file" and "can you please remove my information from your database" - was answered like I was annoying the Rep. At one point I heard the rep (George) whisper "oh my god" when I was asking him to confirm for me, via email, that my information was removed from their database. Which I then quickly requested a supervisor.

    So in order for me to confirm my information was removed from their database, I would have to requested and email them, which I was not willing to do. I have already spent enough time dealing with a matter that should not even exist. When I spoke with the supervisor (Charles) he was again not compassionate and when I asked him to put himself in my shoes he said that sounds personal with an arrogant tone. These reps should have handled this situation with a lot more understanding instead of being annoyed the entire call. I was not loud or rude - I was explaining to them the situation which they did not want to hear.

    Now I will have to call them again to be sure my personal information was removed from their database since they could not send me a confirmation email on this without me requesting it. They verbally confirmed they have removed my information - but I cannot be certain because they shouldn't have had it in the first place. I will update this review if I find that my information still exists in their database because if this is the case legal actions will occur. If you speak with your customers with compassion and understanding, they will speak back with compassion and understanding more often than not, but this is not the case with Allianz - I do not trust this company or their integrity with their clients.

    August 28, 2017 I got cellulitis while onboard a ship. I attended the onboard doctor, was diagnosed and received a 10 day prescription in 20 minutes. Total bill $488. On return to Canada the end of Sept 2017, I submitted my receipts to SunLife Insurance who forwarded my claim to Allianz. They sent me six pages of forms to fill out to cross reference provincial claims on November 3, 2017. Those forms were submitted. January 4, 2018 I received a letter indicating a second request for my family physician contact information which was already available from the information submitted Nov. 4th was necessary.

    You contacted his office and paid his bill on January 28. On Feb. 5, I called and was advised that they had just sent the request the prior week and to call back in 10 days. I did so and was advised it was being sent now to claims department for adjudication. I called SunLife and was told you wouldn’t give them any information. On March 5, I called customer service and was promised that an urgent message was again being sent to find out why this claim was taking so long. I asked for the agent's name (Amy) and her employee number but she didn’t have that information. I asked to speak to a supervisor but she couldn’t find one. I am to be contacted within 24-48 hours by supervisors. I just wanted to get accountability information but am obviously being avoided. It has been six very long months. This is unacceptable! Consumer Affairs please help!

    When we scheduled our trip through Priceline we decided to get the trip insurance policy in case something prevented us from making the trip. We planned our trip 8 months in advance. As it turned out three weeks before the trip I fell and turned out developing blood clots in my arm. It was a slight injury but it had big complications. I ended up in the hospital four days before our flight because blood clots were found in my lungs. As it was I couldn't fly though I was looking forward to the trip. We were flying to Hawaii for a three week vacation. We were able to cancel everything except a two night lodging stay.

    We notify Allianz as soon as we could and filled out a claim. We were soon notified by them. They had a form for the physician to fill out. We forwarded to her. She fill it out and sent it back to the Insurance company. We got confirmation that the claim was being accepted and we would get reimbursed from the Insurance company for the amount we had purchased the accommodations for. Less then three weeks later we received a check for the refund amount on the accommodations we purchased. I will used this service again.     I faxed all the paperwork from a UPS store and cost me $27 to fax it. I was told from Allianz did not receive the fax for like 5-7 days. We all know a fax is immediate. During our recent trip to Tahiti, we were forced to use the plan due to my wife's severe sciatica which rendered her incapable of movement or self-care. On the positive side, the Plan is cheap. On the negative side, the assistance we received was consistently late, ineffective, and poorly delivered. To start, it was impossible to reach Allianz by telephone from our cruise ship... We were kept on an endless hold. Next, it took Allianz two days to get things moving, all the while my wife was in pain in a primitive clinic on a remote island. Throughout the process, it was like dealing with the worst government bureaucracy. The medical department did not talk to the customer service department which meant that the customer service department was consistently 12-24 hours behind things.

    In the end, I just started calling the medical department directly with the doctor in charge (but this was only workable because the doctor was willing to spend the time...most won't). I learned from the local hospital much more than I ever did from Allianz's customer service. For instance, we were kept on hold about a medical evacuation to the main island until about an hour before the evacuation, even though it was clear that the local provider was fully aware of the time.

    Each time I called Allianz, I had to speak to a different person and inevitably they had no idea what was actually happening. Their case notes seemed to be completely disorganized. The execution in terms of arranging transport was poor due partly I think to internal bureaucracy and partly to the fact that they just want to save money. Multiple times I had to intervene with the travel arrangements to fix errors that Allianz had made. For instance, my wife was only able to travel with a reclining seat to prevent her bone spur from impinging on her nerve. This was made clear to Allianz multiple times. Then on our flight from LAX to Houston, we were initially in non-reclining business class seats. This just shows a lack of attention and care for customers in distress.

    Be aware that the Basic Plan only covers the cost of evacuation by commercial aircraft in a normal business class seat. Even though Allianz and other insurers advertise coverages of $100,000 or above for this feature, it does not include any kind of air ambulance or stretcher flight. I think it's misleading to advertise such high maximums: When would you ever spend $100,000 on a purely commercial flight? Going forward, we're only going to take insurance that covers medical evacuation by whatever means are necessary. God forbid one of us had a stroke or heart attack... Allianz would have left us to rot in a clinic in Tahiti.
