    It was a real pleasure working with Allianz. I took out the travel insurance for a scheduled vacation with my daughter this spring. The main concern was my husband's multiple health issues and how they might cause me to cancel my trip. Little did I know, that 1 week before leaving I would tear a ligament in my knee that requires surgery. I contacted Allianz immediately.     My friend and I bought cruise insurance for a plane trip to the Bahamas. About a month before our trip, I became ill with an upper respiratory infection, which developed into bronchitis, which became pneumonia, and in to the hospital I was sent. I was released before my cruise was to leave, but my doctor didn't feel I was physically up for this trip and recommended I not leave.     Allianz policy we purchased when we booked our travel with American Airlines came in handy when I had a mishap while vacationing in the Bahamas on a medical emergency and a flight cancellation. The claim process was easy to follow online and when I called the customer service personnel for help, they too, were very helpful in processing my claim.

    They did follow thru on everything, they explained my policy coverage, length of time it would take to process the claim and what I needed to submit for the claim... It was handled very professionally and the agents were great, everything was what they said would happen. My only regret was not writing down the people who handled my calls and claim to thank them. My recommendation is to make sure you get this protection if you are traveling especially out of the country and to keep all your receipts when or if you need to submit a claim.     Carnival lost our bag and when it did finally turn up items were missing. Carnival does not cover their own issues. However, I do like to back up my plans and my rentals with Allianz. Everything is online and as long as you follow the fine print (police reports, claims with original travel company-Carnival) no issues and they take about 10 minutes to file after you collect everything. 30 days later they send payment for what's covered.     Around 4/12/2018, My husband had tingling of arm and numbness. He is 66 years old... He went to primary Dr. Dr. told him he had heart skipping and palpitation and they did not like it; "Schedule yourself for an cardiology." Appoint was 4/17, Prior to 4/17.     We have bought Allianz policies on numerous occasions and had to cancel insured travel plans twice: one knee replacement and on stress fractures. Both claims had easily supported medical documentation and there were no complications from Allianz. Do the paperwork; get the refund. Our only complaint is about the forms on the Allianz site: we had to write and request forms; the online forms won't download. Allianz can do a better job on their website.     I've had so much hassle with other travel insurances, because they made it sound, upon purchase, like I was paying for the option to change or cancel my flight, but were only providing the opportunity for a refund if I died or was injured. Allianz provided my refund when a work change made me cancel without significant hassle. I would give 5 stars, but the website wouldn't let me submit after I uploaded my documents, so I had to call and email my documents in.     Allianz continues to delay reimbursement for travel interruption. My wife had an emergency appendectomy in Egypt end of January. All documents were filed in Feb. and final confirmation that all documentation has been received was March 3, 2018. Called every week and each time am told that the claim is in "Management Review" and it will be another 6-10 weeks. Here it is May 7, 8 weeks after the claim documentation was submitted and complete, and they still are not able to address or explain the continued delays. I will not be using them again!!!

    I recently had a medical issue in Honduras during a cruise. Allianz had left a message for me on my phone so that as soon as I returned I was asked to update them on my condition. I called and they immediately forwarded me the paperwork to fill out to file a claim for my medical expenses and advised me to submit the cost of my entire family's excursion for the day I experienced the medical problem.     I've never til the last couple of years been a fan of trip insurance. I try to plan and work our details to avoid close calls or glitches. We planned a European trip with a top provider on a major airline with a nonstop flight. We're both in good physical health, but on Medicare (no coverage outside U.S.). My wife was involved in a freak car accident at home before and we decided to cancel the trip and lay low. Allianz couldn't have been more kind, professional, and understanding. I'm not real computer savvy but they had phone and mail options available. Kept me in the loop via e-mail almost daily. Followed up with a disposition of the claim via e-mail, snail mail and a check within 14 days. I was very pleased with outstanding claim adjudication and correspondence.
