    Allianz has helped me through 2 canceled flights in which I was injured for both flights. The website service is easy to navigate, but if you need to speak to a customer rep, they tend to send you back to the website. It appears they want everything done electronically, so those who are not computer savvy will have some issues. Once you learn how to navigate their system, you have to scan and upload your documents to their website, and then they send emails letting you know what is happening. It is a lot of work, especially since you are buying insurance to begin with, and then you have to justify why you need to use them. Their system does work, and they helped me out twice when I needed it, so thank you Allianz. I would like to see more verbal communication for those who can't navigate the system, but overall it worked for me.

However we had 3 separate claims to file and the first agent we spoke with tried to put all 3 claims together and we found out later by another agent that each claim needed a different claim number. So I would recommend some additional training may be in order.

    BEWARE of Allianz travel insurance. I saved a long time and booked a special trip for me and my sons. It was their high school graduation and a 50th birthday celebration for me. What better way to celebrate than create some memories? WRONG. What was meant to be a trip of a lifetime became a trip to hell. I bought ALLIANZ trip insurance, just in case. Decided on a trip to Cabo San Lucas. Purchased Allianz trip insurance thinking it would help if we needed it and to protect my investment in the vacation. Well, something did happen and that something was hurricane/tropical storm Bud. Called a few days in advance to see what my options were for possibly postponing or canceling the trip seeing how it looked like Cabo would be a direct hit.

    Basically, there were no options unless the airline canceled flights. The airline didn’t cancel flights and we felt compelled to go since the trip was already paid for in full with no financial recourse for us. We had 1 day in Cabo and then all hell broke loose. Mind you, I’m from the Gulf Coast so we’ve weathered hurricanes and tropical storms. I’ve seen a lot of thing and lived through them before. What I didn’t know was that my resort would flood for 2 days, the AC and TV would stop working while we were trapped like rats in our room with nowhere to go because the property was flooded. All flights were canceled so we couldn’t get out, couldn’t even find a ride to the airport anyway. All of the amenities in the resort were closed and we were stuck there eating cold food out of styrofoam boxes with spoons because the forks had all been used already.

    I called the booking agent and they directed me to the Allianz website to look at trip interruption reimbursement. I gathered pictures of all the flooding and posted signs indicating the all-inclusive resort being closed and submitted it along with receipts and the pictures. The claim was denied after submitting only days before. How does being trapped in your room with 3 adults for 2 days with no AC, TV or internet in a flooded resort with nowhere to go not count for trip interruption? After the storm passed we had one day and then had to leave to go home. My $3000 dream vacation to make memories with my sons was ruined and the trip insurance I paid over $200 for was denied. Terrible company, terrible service. Will never use them again and I will use social media to make sure other people don’t make the same mistake that I made.

    Over the past few years have been very happy with Allianz Travel Insurance. My husband has a rare form of cancer and we’ve been going through various forms of treatments over the last five years.     I purchased insurance because I planned to travel out of state to attend a K-con conference which my daughter really wanted to attend as an early birthday gift on Sat. June 23. On Wednesday June 20th our family pet started what is called a cluster of epileptic seizures (20 within 24 hours) which rendered him with over medical issues including temporary blindness.

    I contacted Allianz Global Assistance to inform them that with the unexpected emergency my daughter and I would not be able to attend this event not knowing if our pet would expire over the weekend. The agent at Allianz informed me that if our pet was military issued they would honor our claim but if it was just a family pet we were not covered even with documentation of this emergency. Needless to say, I will never secure any future tickets with this company again. I feel that this policy is ridiculous that you would cover a pet but only if it's military issued. Our pet is a part of our family and I couldn’t imagine being at a show while he is suffering/dying.

    I purchased Allianz Global Assistance insurance when booking a trip to Managua, Nicaragua (long before the current civil unrest began). Recently, the hotel I had booked shut down and canceled my reservation, the U.S. Embassy closed, and the U.S. State Department urged Americans not to travel to Nicaragua. Managua has been in the news regularly, and hundreds of people have died in what seems to be becoming a civil war.

    It would be incredibly dangerous for me to travel to Managua (and I wouldn't even have a place to stay there), so I assumed the insurance I purchased would help refund my airfare. I spoke to multiple people on the phone who were of no help, and I jumped through many hoops online to file a claim, submitting a multitude of documents (I had to fill out the claim document twice for some reason). My claim was denied, and this is what they said:

    "No coverage is provided for cancellation due to the issuance of travel advisors, bulletins or alerts; war or acts thereof; civil disorder, riot or unrest; bomb scare or threats of terrorist activity; or terrorist acts against any Common Carrier (i.e. airline or cruise line)". Acts of WAR, civil disorder, and riots aren't covered??? This company clearly does not care about its customers; they care about taking peoples' money and then sending them into dangerous situations. I'm never purchasing their insurance again, and I urge others to think carefully before doing so and to carefully research what exactly is covered (if war isn't covered, what is???).

    WORTHLESS WASTE OF MONEY AND TIME. I purchased Allianz insurance for some concert tickets because my wife is pregnant and was having some morning sickness off and on, and sometimes throughout the day. When the concert day came around she was puking all day, and obviously didn’t want to attend the event. At the time we were relieved that we had purchased the insurance so that we could be reimbursed for the tickets, but after contacting Allianz we were disappointed to find out that it was really just a scam and they wanted an impossible amount of documents from a doctor's visit that unknown to us was necessary to occur within 72 hours of the event.

    Even after hours of explaining to these imbeciles that morning sickness does not require a doctor's visit, and providing proof that my wife was pregnant and having issues with nausea and vomiting, they refused to reimburse for not only the tickets (that were only $90) but also for their completely worthless insurance that I wish I had never seen and bought. Worse then the loss of money was the loss of my time and energy and the amount of frustration and headache these scandalous wackos caused. Meanwhile the ticket company actually was super understanding and willing on reimbursing the cost, just like any real human being with half a heart or brain would. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME WITH THIS SCANDALOUS BUSINESS.

We ended up taking our trip to Bradenton, but had to leave a day early because not only were we trying to leave before the storm, we were driving right into because of where we lived in North Florida.     My main piece of feedback is that your website does not work. I first tried to enter my claim online and was forced to call your support team to have a gentleman submit it for me. He indicated that my applicable services equated over $600 and I only got reimbursed for $170 because my insurance was only applicable to costs that weren't already paid for.

    Additionally, when I received the email that my claim status was updated and clicked the link, I was directed to a blank page that was never updated. This forced me to email the support team where it takes 3+ days to get a response via email from the team as well so it is very difficult to get questions answered.     The only thing I would recommend is that they allow uploading of jpeg images. This would allow a person to take a picture of a doctor's note and upload it at the time of filing the claim. Because this was not possible on the existent system, one then had to email customer service with an attachment which was a hassle and took additional time. There was worry that the email info would not be linked to the claim. They could fix this easily.

    This review isn't based on service during a medical incident. TLDR: I don't travel often and did not know trip cancellation is only covered due to very specific reasons. I have complete medical coverage through my credit card, but was worried that I wouldn't be able to go on the trip if my traveling partner didn't receive their passport in time. When I saw, see the attached document, that I could buy cancellation insurance for $75.00 per person I decided I would safely be able to pay for the trip without worrying about losing my money.

    I phoned in to cancel the trip, because I thought I was going to have to because of work, but they said that wasn't covered. Insanely misleading and literally the only reason I purchased the insurance. Obviously there is a lot of fine print involved with insurance, but that should not be posted without at least saying that there are restrictions as to the reason for cancellation. Luckily I still get to go, but I can't even cancel this "Insurance" that I definitely don't need because "it's past the 10 day review period" as if I would read 8 paragraphs of fine print... At the very least it should be visibly noted by a mark on the purchase page.

    While we were on vacation in and out of Singapore, I had some severe back pains. I saw the doctor on the ship and received a shot to relieve my pains. Then before our cruise was over I came down with pneumonia. I was again seen by the doctor on board and sent to er at the local hospital. My wife had to stay in a hotel. We were there for five days.     I booked a trip in April 2018, and the agent booked the wrong return date. Once the error was discovered, I was required to pay an additional $600 to change the airline tickets. The was under the impression that through the policy purchase, I would be able to recoup some of that additional cost for unforeseen circumstances. This is not the case. The insurance did not help cover this unforeseen circumstance, which again, was not at my own fault. It was a waste of nearly $300 to purchase this policy.     I purchased travel insurance because of on-going winter weather issues at my destination, and the fact that my husband had just had a stent placed and I didn't know how that would go. Ultimately, I had to reschedule my trip a month later because my cousin, who LIVES at my destination city (Traverse City, MI) called to tell me two days before my departure date that the airport had been closed for two days due to weather, and was expected to be closed the next day because schools were also closed.

    So, rather than get stranded somewhere, I decided to reschedule. I was charged almost $200 for rescheduling by the airline, so asked Allianz to cover that fee.
