Attn: Customer Relations Department, Allanz CEO's, etc. Re: Additional Feedback for Allianz. I purchased this travel insurance to cover emergency situations and potential changes in travel. I was coming home from my husband's surgery before I purchased my plane ticket. I was exhausted and overlooked the date on the ticket, quickly realizing my error. I felt relief that I'd bought travel insurance through Allianz, because there was no way I could fly less than a week after my husband's surgery. He would be bedridden for 2 weeks! I quickly reassured myself that there would be no problem, because the travel insurance covers situations like this --- especially individuals in medically complex situations.
However, this was not the case. Allianz denied my claim almost a month later, due to a "preexisting" clause. Because my husband was sick BEFORE I purchased the ticket, I would receive no benefits. I cannot imagine how many people are being taken advantage by your company - especially elderly individuals too tired and overwhelmed to complain. It is unethical and sickening that insurance companies, like Allianz, make money by playing between the fine lines of policymaking, instead of helping normal, average people recover their expenses in medically complex situations.
To say the least, I will never buy travel insurance through Allianz in the future, and if there are any means to voice my complaints to the public (which I am the type of person to RARELY complain -- have been known to eat an alternate meal, due to waitress' error, without complaint - kind of person). I will complain about Allianz and this situation. So sad.

Thank you Allianz Insurance company for quick and outstanding services provided me and my family over the years. Being the elderly family member prudent travel protection is my responsibility, therefore, we always protect our travel via purchasing Allianz travel insurance. A few days prior to our families planned and paid for travel plans the youngest family member came down with chickenpox and was unable to fly. Within days Allianz reimbursed us for the child airline ticket expense. The financial exposure was immediately taken care of by Allianz Insurance company, enable us to redirect those funds to hiring the sitter allowing my family and I to travel without the financial strain.

When filing the claim I selected that I wanted my funds distributed back to me via direct deposit, providing my account and routing number. Instead, you sent a check that never arrived. After calling in, you said it would be delivered the next days but 3 days later no check. I called in a second time and switched to direct deposit and now have to wait another week for the credit department to "look into it". What a pain for something that should be so straightforward.

Had a flight delay during my trip. The airline was a no-go on reimbursement for the hotel stay, but Allianz was completely painless and helpful in covering my issues. Their website is easy to understand and very user-friendly. Definitely a great company and worth the investment.

I had a significant travel delay as a result of a derailment blocking the track. I submitted the information online and received a check promptly. I was expecting a real hassle and some "fine print" denial, but not so. I would purchase policy again.

Our flight was delayed a day and we lost the 1 st night of hotel lodging. The Insurance claim was easy to make, just scanned in the flight info that I had and a copy of the hotel bill that I got from our travel agent and we were refunded quickly. Thank you for great service!!

I paid for this insurance to make sure if something unexpected happened we could get our money back. We planned a trip to Las Vegas for my son's 21st birthday, but due to a school/work obligation we were not able to go. This was a situation that if they went to Las Vegas and missed this deadline it would have been detrimental, so it was important to cancel the trip. This was not allowed and the claim was denied! It was not like we just canceled to cancel, it was for a valid reason! Very disappointed in your service and what you feel is a valid reason or not. It was for only $250.00 as well, which I am sure is not a lot compared to other claims. We were just trying to reclaim the cancelation fees from the airline. I feel like filing a claim for my fees back for your service plan, because I do not feel I paid for a policy that I could not use!!

I was not able to use my airline ticket due to a sciatic nerve problem that limited my mobility. So I could not take my trip. After submitting the requested information, I received payment back for the airline ticket quickly.

I had to cancel my trip due to a subpoena. I am in the legal field. On July 10, 2018 I submitted my claim with a copy of the subpoenas. I received a email back from Allianz Stating that my account was under review and it should take approximately 5 to 10 business days to get a response. On July 15, 2018 I submitted one more supporting documentation which included information about the trip specifically i.e. reservation number cancellation and cost. Called on 25 July since I hadn’t received anything. The person told me that it had only been Eight days since they are only counting from when they last receive documentation. I said fine. Called again on Monday the 30, since according to them I would’ve received an email, their words not mine about at least a decision. I called again today August 1 I was told by the customer service rep that we are only at the 11th day. Also that they are backed up and claims.
I got frustrated due to him telling me essentially that I don’t know how to count business days. Even offer their standards of 16 July to August 1 it’s clearly 13 business days. He proceeded to tell me that Mondays don’t count. However he did tell that the claim was reviewed on July 28, which is a Saturday. But under the same breath said they don’t work weekends. What? I was told my client is in the final process overview which I don’t know what that means and I will get a response by the end of the week or early next week. This may seem petty, But if they are going to say I will have a review and decision within 5 to 10 business days and get an email notifying me of that decision then I believe that’s what should be done.

Call center representative was very helpful. As this was our first claim after several covered trips, he advised that Allianz was our primary coverage and how to file a claim. Claims process was easy and the payment was prompt. Will continue to use Allianz.

We purchased trip insurance for our cruise, and during the trip, our son ended up with a double ear infection. Since the cruise line doesn't take medical insurance, we had to pay for the visit, treatment & medication out of our own pocket. On our last day, the cruise line left us an itemized bill that I submitted to Allianz, and after 2 days, the claim was approved, and processed. It was a very easy process, and I'd definitely use them again in the future.

I always buy travel insurance... Just in case. I never had to use it and was thinking next trip I won’t get it. But yes... as you guessed... flight delayed until next day and I was reimbursed the cost of hotel and food expenses. Just save receipts from airline confirming delay and hotel receipt. Process was easy online. Just uploaded scanned documents and received check in mail about 3 weeks later.

Allianz was responsive to questions about my account and claim, especially helpful was customer service while I was abroad and calling the international number. They checked in on my status several times. My claim went through fairly quickly with minimal trouble.

Slow response to claim processing, my direct deposit was cancelled not at my request and it has taken additional time to process the claim. A poor first time customer experience. I called the customer service number and received incorrect information. Not pleased at all.

I am very pleased with the quick response from Allianz on my recent claim. From the ease of using the site to the quick response time filing the claim was very quick and concise. When talking to an agent they were polite and very helpful with responses and guidance to using the system. I began getting flight insurance several years ago when a relative became ill while on a cruise and had to have medical attention. It was through her testimony that I vowed I would never go without the added protection. I will continue to buy the added protection in the future particularly after our recent experience. It was worth the extra money. Thank you.

I canceled my airline ticket to Ecuador but didn't think right away to cancel the insurance until the next day. It appeared I only had 10 days to cancel the insurance and it was by then the 11th day. I sent my ticket cancellation in hopes that I could receive a refund because, after all, the trip was canceled so there was nothing to insure. I was elated to receive a check in the mail. Thank you.

I needed to cancel my airline reservation because the family member I was planning to visit needed surgery and was unable to receive visitors. I was able to receive reimbursement for the cancellation fee charged by the airline promptly and with no problem.

A surprise trip to the Emergency Room in Spain was much less stressful thanks to our policy with Allianz. I called from the hospital to make sure we would be covered for the expense, and the representatives were helpful, thorough, and genuinely compassionate. It was nice that I didn't have to wait on hold at all. A representative called the next day just to follow up and make sure everything was OK.
We were reimbursed for 100% of the expense. I was able to file my claim at home from my computer, and received approval within ten days. A check came in the mail the next week. My only suggestion would be that Allianz consider covering expenses up front. We paid the bill ourselves and were then reimbursed later. This was no problem as our bill was under $400, but could be troublesome if it was a larger sum of money. Very happy with Allianz's service, and will use them again for our future travels!

Great experience overall. My wife and I had to cancel our flight due to a sick child. The claim process was extremely efficient and we had our refund for the flight change fees in just a few days. The ease of it all far exceeded expectations! It was all done online, uploaded required documents and that was it.

Allianz did a just superb job on this claim. I've started buying travel insurance for most of our trips, but we've never had to use it. About a week after we bought the tickets, my son took a bad step on the stairs, and after our family PT looked at it, she recommended X-rays. The X-rays came back without breaks, but "abnormal". So they did an MRI, and he'd damaged the cartilage on his Talus (never heard of it before) - so, surgery.
I looked up my Allianz policy, filled in the website form, sent in the documents they asked for, and waited. Contacted them once to figure out who contacts the airline, and the rep. was very polite and helpful. A week later and our refund was on the way. Just a helpful, pleasant experience from Allianz, and we really appreciate it!

Very fast processing of my trip cancellation claim. I was "summoned" to a meeting which forced me to cancel my trip to California. I was issued and answer and check within about 48 hours of filing. This is not one of the standard cancellation reasons, but my claim was reviewed and still accepted. Thank you.

I had to cancel a trip to visit my daughter's family due to my mother's illness. I contacted Allianz and explained the situation to them. The agent I spoke with helped me file a claim and gave me a list of information I would need to send with the claim. Within a week or so, I received an email from Allianz stating that my claim had been approved and that a check would be mailed to me for the cost of the canceled ticket. I received the check about a week later. Having travel insurance with Allianz is certainly worth the small cost.

I guess I’m surprised that there was a $200 limit on my insurance. I thought my policy covered all expenses in case of changes in travel. My fault for not reading fine print but very disappointed. I will not buy insurance again.

I filed for delayed luggage claim. No update and info up until now. Unacceptable customer service. I inquired as well through email just to verify my coverage. No reply as well. I don't know how Allianz does their customer service. Just take my money and when there are claims just ignore and tell me to wait for eternity.

Our daughter became very ill and was hospitalized only days before our planned vacation. I contacted the travel agent and Allianz to advise and submit a claim. I would highly recommend travel insurance from Allianz Global Assistance. It is reasonably priced for the coverage it provides, and the company responds quickly to any claims you submit. I received payment from Allianz within 3 weeks of submitting a claim for two delayed flights for a vacation to Barcelona. I was very impressed that they provided status updates and confirmation while my claim was processed.

I bought my plane ticket well in advance of my trip. Then I unexpectedly needed surgery and had to cancel the trip. I was refunded the money with minimal hassle by using their computer system. Allianz was very helpful processing my trip cancellation. I had multiple insurance policies for the one trip, (bought through different airlines etc.) and when applying for a refund, customer service was very helpful. They walked me through what to do, and helped me understand how to juggle the different policies. Whenever I called in for help someone was quick to respond and was very efficient. I am very happy with Allianz and would definitely purchase trip insurance from them again.

My husband fell and sustained a fracture of the femur which required crutches and no weight bearing for 8 weeks. His flight to Wis had to be canceled. We submitted a claim for reimbursement. When we had the required medical forms and submitted them he was paid in full in less than 2 weeks.

Made a complaint through customer support 2-3 times and only one Heather ** from Allianz confirmed system was down in my 3rd attempt. Allianz did a good job of covering our claims and I was overall satisfied. However the claims process seemed to be more complicated than it needed to be because of the differences in the way they were handled. We had two claims, one for the airline tickets and the other for the B&B. For some reason the systems to complete the claim and other aspects of the way the claim was handled and the communications were slightly different. Why not make it exactly the same?

I'm so thankful we took out trip insurance with Allianz! We were going to Hawaii for our 40th anniversary. My husband has injured his foot and it is going to require surgery, so we had to cancel, for now, the trip we have been dreaming of all our married life! We are not the type to be able to afford grand vacations, so it would have been terrible to lose the money we paid for our airline tickets! I put the insurance check in our savings and will be able to rebook our dream Hawaii anniversary vacation as soon as my husband recovers! My claim would make sense to anyone who chose to look at the details, but would have been easy to deny on a technicality. In the end, it was paid. This is the first time I’ve ever had to use the insurance on a trip and I’m thankful it went so well. My husband had an emergency appendectomy just a few days before my scheduled flight to spend time with my sister. I wasn’t sure how the whole process would go but it worked flawlessly. Insuring your flights or trips can seem expensive at the time of purchase, but is definitely worth it in the long run. We purchased plans when moving from the east coast to the west coast and it paid off when the airline severely damaged an item I flew with. I have used Allianz a few times now, both domestic and international and had great experiences both times!

My travel companions and I were delayed by a traffic accident and had to buy new plane tickets and hotel rooms for $3600. The Allianz policy document describes this exact circumstance under one of the coverage categories, but they informed me that wasn't included in my policy. They provided no way for me to opt into that sub-category of coverage when I signed up (why on earth wouldn't I want that?), so I'm just out $3600. Not happy.

My wife was injured in a serious car accident in South Africa, she was taken care of and Allianz went above and beyond to get her back home safe. They paid most of the expenses directly and I had to take care of 2 small hospital bills, they reimbursed me promptly and we did not end up paying anything extra at all, just had to get all of the paperwork done in a timely manner. They were great to deal with through the entire process.

I am extremely please with how your handled my delayed baggage claim. It was quick and hassle-free. American Airlines was experiencing database problems when I started my tour of Scotland and Ireland and I did not get my luggage for first three days of my tour. I had to purchase clothing, make-up and toiletries for the three days and submitted my claim through AAA travel agent when I returned. The reimbursement check was mailed out promptly. I became ill in Costa Rica with something intestinal and had to go to a hospital emergency room on a Friday evening. I was handled well in the hospital and paid the bill for approximately 5 hours treatment. I returned home filed my claim providing all necessary documents and received payment within a three week period. Excellent service from Allianz Global Assistance. It is a complete pleasure to acknowledge and praise an insurance company that without hesitation delivers on a claim. In preparation for a recent trip, I somewhat reluctantly purchased a cancellation policy from Allianz thinking as I did that it was probably a waste of money and would go unused. Three weeks before my trip, I fell and broke a hip which required surgery and subsequent rehab that disallowed fulfillment of my trip plans. I then followed the user-friendly claim procedures from Allianz and received not only prompt payment but also a very thoughtful note of encouragement and healing wishes. I received a prompt payment on claim, but had problems submitting the claim. The first day I called I was told the computer servers were down, but they answered my general questions, and told me to wait until tomorrow to fax in the claim. The next day the servers were up, but I was unable to fax the claim as I could only reach a recording saying a “long distance code” needed to be entered. The staff at Allianz listened but were unable to solve the problem. When I mailed in the claim I was paid immediately. Would I use them again? yes.

The interface of Allianz’s online claim submission form could be improved in multiple ways, but after submission was complete, all went smoothly. Allianz kept me up to date on the status of my claim, stuck to the timeline they said they would, and approved everything without any delay or red tape. Reimbursement occurred immediately after approval -another plus. I had never purchased travel insurance before, and did not purchase this policy thinking I would use it for a medical reason, but I would highly recommend Allianz.

I am certainly glad I purchased the Trip Protector policy. The final leg of a recent air trip was canceled and would have caused at least a 24-hour delay in my plans. I was able to get on a train at almost the last minute which put me only a couple of hours behind schedule. After my trip was completed I used the Allianz website to submit a claim for my additional rail expenses. Within 24-hours I was completely reimbursed. It could not have been easier!

This is BY FAR, the worst travel insurance company I've ever had to deal with, and I travel up approximately 8-10 times a year. I've been fighting a claim for almost 11 months. I keep getting the same 'run-around': "You're missing documentation" --- I submit documentation. "You have to wait 10 business days for an answer" --- I wait the 10 days. Sometimes I get an answer, other times I call again to check on it. "You're missing more documentation" --- I call and ask for ALL the documentation they MAY need. I submit it. "You have to wait 10 business days for an answer" --- In June 8th 2018, I submitted all the documentation they could ever want regarding my trip. I even included odd-ball information they probably already have or won't need, but I submit it just in case.
I never got an answer. I call back every week in June and on June 28th, 2018 I get someone to finally check my file and they realize that they NEVER entered the documents into the system... They enter it into the system. Guess what I have to do now? "You have to wait 10 business days for an answer". July 13th should have been the end of the 10 business day period. I call July 16th: "You're missing documentation". I tell them the documentation that they are asking for was submitted last month and that I have a printout of the previously submitted documents to prove it... Guess what I have to do now? "You have to wait 10 business days for an answer".
I ask if there's ANY way to speed this up because this delay was their fault, again. "No. This is all the information that I have and I cannot do anything else. You have to wait for the claims approver to contact you". The claims agent got nasty with me when I began asking for a way to speed this up. I asked for his full name in case I needed to contact him or his leadership. He told me his first name but said he can't give me his last name. Then he said that he could send an email to try and speed this up (which I seriously doubt he did because he was just snapping back at me because I had just called him out about the lie involving the documentation and wait period). THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE SEPTEMBER 2017.

My husband and I had to cancel a trip in Sept of 2017 as he was in too much pain to travel and subsequently hospitalized. We had the choice to let the airline charge the change fee to us then so we could make a claim with Allianz, however we waited until we rescheduled the flight in 2018 to make the claim and Allianz promptly reimbursed us for the change fees as well as the additional fare price. Keep your paperwork and emails together so you have all the info you need to fill out the claim form.

I was in Charlotte when American Airlines canceled all flights for the day including the final leg of my flight home. I found a motel downtown, took a taxi and was able to enjoy a good night sleep. I was disappointed with the $300 refund since I purchased a #1000.71 insurance contract that quoted reasonable refunds for various mishaps. Losing an entire day from only 5 days in Paris, including a long-anticipated church concert, should be considered. Realizing that we take meals at another restaurant needs to be balanced with the fact that it was in ROME - and not in my preferred city of Paris! Considering the travel insurance price, loss of one day in Paris+ concert, rearrangement of shuttle service, inconvenience with "meet-ups" in Paris, I lost on this deal. My daughter got bitten by a mosquito and had an allergic reaction. Her eye, right hand and finger on left hand blew up. Doctor was called to the hotel and she had to get a shot, take pills, and get two creams one for her eye and one for her hand. Paid immediately, best coverage ever. I had a vehicle accident 100 yards from the rental car return lot on our way to dropping off the car. It took the car rental 2 weeks to supply me with the damage estimate (actual repair costs), before I could supply this to Allianz. It was pretty straightforward to input the information online. Once submitted I didn't hear back from the rental car or Allianz until 1-1/2 months later, Allianz wanted my feedback on how they did. I then used the status link for my claim to find out the payment had been made. So, it was pretty effortless for me at my end. I just wish they had updated me with emails.

It took three tries to get docs uploaded. Then when I went to Allianz's website to check on status, I discovered that the checks were destined for an address in Cottonwood AZ. Unfortunately I live in Covington LA. The representatives, whom I was able to reach after an endless hold period, spoke broken English and could do nothing but apologize and put me on hold.

During a recent trip to Italy, my wife became ill and on the first leg of our return flight ruptured her right eardrum. We ended up spending a week in Dublin while she got well enough to travel. I spoke with several different representatives during our trip and after returning home. Everyone exhibited concern for our situation as well as my wife’s health. We submitted the claim forms (which were really quite minimal) and within one week received notification that our claim was approved and a check had been mailed. We will absolutely use Allianz again and have recommended it to several of our friends. Thank you, and well done!

Someone scratched my rented car but noticed it when returning the car. Allianz was quick at responding with the correct documents, and the case got covered directly to the rental company. Very happy. If you are looking for a car insurance Allianz is definitely recommendable!

My wife developed a Bronchial infection during our trip and needed to seek medical help. We utilized an urgent care facility in Munich and received prescriptions for her condition. We obtained the RX medication and she responded very nicely within 48 hours.

Didn’t get responses in a timely manner or in the time frame stated in emails. Didn’t get responses on several emails. Didn’t get support when website didn’t work. Just horrible customer service. No one helped with website issues and wasted my time instead by making me call.

My husband and I went on transatlantic cruise from Miami to Barcelona on April 22, 2018. We arrived to Barcelona on May 6, 2018 and continue our travel in Europe visiting different countries. When we booked the cruise I bought travel insurance for cruise coverage. And for the travel in Europe we bought travel insurance from Allianz Global Travel Insurance company in February 2018 for over $ 900, which was supposed to provide coverage starting from May 6, 2018, when we arrived to Barcelona, Spain, to July 20, 2018, when we planned to return back home in US. During this trip my backpack, part of our luggage, was stolen with my iPhone 8+ in it.
In June 2018 my husband became very ill with severe back and right leg pain and was not able to walk in spite of painkillers and muscle relaxant. We decided to promptly return home to seek medical attention and treatment. We canceled all further reservations and returned back home on June 19 (instead of July 19 as initially planned) with my husband on a wheelchair. I filed a claim with Allianz Global Insurance due to trip interruption and baggage loss and submitted all required documents including doctor's note and police report for stolen backpack.
After about 3 weeks of reviewing the documents the person from claim department called me and stated that we are not eligible for reimbursement because our policy was supposed start from home or less than 100 miles from home, but not while we were already on the trip. She emailed me a website of appeal department, but it was not available online! As a result of this denial we have lost over $ 2800 including cost of insurance! My husband and I are retired and this amount of money is very significant for us. Is there any way to help us with this issue?

I had to make a claim to recover a the cost of a 3 inch repair on a car I rented from Hertz in Scotland. When I picked up the rental the Hertz person and the counter tried to sell me their insurance by telling me that the Allianz wasn't as good. I thought I was taking a chance by not adding the Hertz insurance. However, there was no need to worry. The Allianz insurance covered my loss for damages in a reasonable time and the Allianz associate who helped me complete the claim was excellent - not only friendly and professional but had the expert knowledge necessary. I will use Allianz in my future travels and will recommend to friends.

Do not sign on to this company. They will rip you off. They don't pay any claims whether you're the Insured or claimant. Their employees are extremely rude and every single review they have has a 1 rating. If I could give minus 10 I would. GO WITH A MAJOR COMPANY. Access America is a joke.

My trip itinerary changed and the airline assessed me a fee. I wasn't sure if this was even covered by my policy. When I submitted my claim the online submission process was fast and easy. I had my payment within a few days. I will definitely invest in another policy the next time I travel, and I recommend this to all my friends.

I am VERY pleased with your service! My family and I took a (much anticipated!) Alaskan cruise last month and had a wonderful time. Despite our careful tagging, the cruise line "misplaced" our son's suitcase (full of NINE DAYS worth of clothes and all of his souvenirs from the trip) and it didn't make it to the airport until a full WEEK after our trip. Your website suggests one can file a claim online. I was unable to do so. I could complete the claim form but your website would not allow me to attach the necessary supporting documents (Doctor's letter, proof of payment, et al). I had to print out the claim form, scan it along with the attachments, call your 800 number to instructions, and then email it all to you.

Quick, non-complicated handling of our claim. Weather forced a trip re-routing, and a ten hour delay. Our policy covered all the additional expenses, and was settled within a week or so of mailing in the documentation. Far less hassle than the previous insurance company we had used.

I felt that filing this trip insurance policy was not worth the time or effort that I put forth, much less the cost of the plan, which seemed reasonably priced. Considering there were delays on the part of the airlines and lack of communication of gate change that caused me to miss my flight, I felt as though I should have been compensated for having to sleep in the airport. It was around 15 hours later before leaving to fly home. The travel insurance paid me 7.00 and some change for the food receipts I could locate, but nothing towards the cost of my flight or inconvenience. I will think twice before arbitrarily paying for trip insurance. I was extremely disappointed with the settlement of my claim. The airport didn’t even offer a pillow or a blanket, and though I asked several times about a room or meal voucher, nothing was provided.
