We had to cancel a trip recently and I submitted a claim to your company for the non refundable hotel cost. I talked with one of your agents who was very helpful and who got me started on filling out the online claim request. Your service was prompt and efficient. Thank you again for your help --sorry I don't remember the agent's name but I do remember her friendly and helpful service.

My travel companion was in an accident 2 days prior to our departure and could not go on the trip. I filed a claim and within 2 days of filing the claim was approved and I received a check when I returned from my trip. I won't plan any travel without insuring with Allianz! Ever!

Sent in my request along with documentation as to why I needed to cancel my trip. Allianz responded immediately and set up a claim number. They then contacted me a couple of times to let me know what was going on. I received my check in the mail within a two week time frame! What a wonderfully organized and responsive company!

I am the Executive Assistant to the claimant and handled all paperwork associated with this policy and claim. Allianz was very quick on their response and approval and I can honestly say I was surprised at how quickly and efficiently everything was handled. I had a trip planned from SC to Seattle and a hurricane evacuation was put into place in SC. My flight was delayed, rescheduled and then cancelled. I had to buy and fly out of an airport in another state. The airline wouldn’t refund my 1/2 flight but offered a credit which I told them would not be used. It was a one time thing... But they refused to refund. The insurance company picked up the slack and refunded the cancelled flight! Thank goodness. It was easy and fast. I get travel/flight insurance on most flights but this is the first time I’ve ever had to use it and I’m so glad I had it.

Thanks very much for the speedy settlement of my claim. Your service and handling was exceptional. Only one issue though, your online claim form does not accept Canadian bank cards (at least not mine) or Canadian zip-codes (which are in the form of "char-num-char num-char-num", e.g. A1A 2B2).

We recently purchased a travel insurance policy from Allianz. A few days before we were set to leave on our trip, our daughter got sick and we were told by her doctor to not let her travel. We needed to cancel our trip, but luckily we had the policy. Our plane tickets were reimbursed with credit by our airline for a fee of $375, which the travel insurance covered. We saved more than $200, but it could have been more if we hadn't gotten credit back for our tickets. I highly recommend Allianz travel insurance to anyone who is traveling with small children, especially.

We bought trip insurance because one of our party has health challenges. Fortunately that was a non issue but we ended up making a claim due to unexpected travel delays and related expenses. The airlines had crew issues requiring our collective group to stay abroad longer than planned. The insurance helped offset some of these expenses. An unexpected benefit to travel insurance. :)

What are the chances of something going wrong at our ages (69 and 71) such that we couldn't go sailing in the Caribbean? Not sure, but when my spouse broke her ankle 3 weeks prior to our departure we had to cancel the trip. We submitted the medical forms to Allianz, there were no questions asked and within 8 days or so we had been reimbursed. Thank you!

I had to send multiple emails with responses that were vague. I think I figured it out and tried to add a document to my claim to submit sort of a second claim but have not heard back yet. I do not know if my claim will be responded to..

We had a very easy experience obtaining a refund for delayed travel to St John BVI. Due to a tropical storm we were forced to stay on St Thomas USVI. We will always use Allianz on all travel! If you are organized and keep all of your receipts, the process is very seamless.

This company is a fraud, do not buy any policy from them, after wasting many months, numerous calls, they related my claim without providing any supporting document whatsoever, my claim was about 10k. I am talking to my lawyer to sue and take them to court.

Not tedious like other insurance companies. Prior to Allianz my parents had travel insurance for a flight. Unfortunately they were unable to travel. I had to chase the insurance company to process the claim. The doctor wrote a letter. The insurance had them complete a form that tried to dispute the claim. They finally paid but it took month. Thank God this insurance company is not like that.

We ended up having to file a claim with Allianz due to Hurricane Dorian causing to have to leave a day earlier than planned. This earlier departure caused us to incur additional expenses that was not covered under our Viking Cruise agreement and the online claim process with Allianz was very easy and Allianz responded right away and approved our claim. We have already received the two checks from our claim within a week to 10 days! I am very impressed with their service.

Trip interruption protection. I am simultaneously pleased and disappointed with my experience. Pleased that Allianz provided a timely reimbursement of my claim. But, disappointed that a promised phone call to be placed by the claim reviewer did not materialize within the promised "24 working hours".

Submitted my documents for claim on 22 August. Still waiting for my claim money. Every time I contact customer care, each time I get new answer, customer care representative were not on same page, each person said different thing, avoid Allianz, avoid Manulife if you are travelling out of country as allianz take care of the claim outside country.

I am completely satisfied with the process and the result of my recent claim. In fact, the outcome exceeded my expectations. Also, I called and spoke to several different customer service representatives during the process and each one was extremely helpful and friendly. This was my first time claiming a travel insurance incident, so I did not know how smooth the process would be (or not be). I had to have a doctor's report to get our refund back due to having to cancel my train ride and at no time were we told that if we needed a refund that this is what it took to get it back. And for this reason I will never ride Amtrak again.

I was forced to cancel my Ghana trip due to my husband's brain surgery from an auto accident. The agents were amazingly kind and moved the claim so quickly I can't remember the details. They contacted the needed information and refunded my flight fees. Thank you So So much. My husband is recovering slowly but well.

I have investments with Allianz and decided to use them for travel insurance. It was easy to sign up but I did need a little assistance which I got over the phone. I remember the person being very helpful. We had a number of snafus on our trip back and I submitted the forms online to see if I would get reimbursed for expenses lost. Within 10 days I received the money that I was out. Everything was easy and prompt and I’m very pleased.

Submitted a claim due to inability to travel due to health. I did not realize I needed to submit for both travelers at the same time vs each one separately. I called customer service and they and added the 2nd travel to the claim. Got a notice of claim initiation and additional support needed. Submitted additional support and claim was processed and a refund sent. Very pleased with process and customer service rep on call made.

I was impressed with the simplicity of filing a claim for a flight cancellation by the airline. I don’t always purchase trip insurance but I am glad I did. We purchased travel insurance through AAA just in case any medical problems happened to two elderly parents before or after our trip. We did use the insurance, not because of that concern, but instead, our initial flight of two legs was delayed at the airport causing us to miss our connecting flight. Since the delay was overnight, we missed work the next day and used the payment to help cover those costs.

This is the first time I have purchased a VERY expensive international flight, and the first time I have ever purchased travel insurance just in case something happened. When an injury prohibited travel and we had to cancel our trip, the transaction with Allianz was so easy. I actually spoke to a REAL person when I had questions about doing it correctly! The website is so easy to use (Why can't all business do it this way?!) and the requirements to meet the claim were very easy to upload on to their site. We received our refund check within about one week of making the claim. We were so disappointed when we had to cancel the trip, but dealing with Allianz made it a little less painful! We are hoping to make this big trip in the future, and I won't hesitate to purchase travel insurance with Allianz when I do.

Once we figured out how to get the forms, it was a simple process. My only complaint would be that it needs to be much easier to get a hold of the forms. The forms were easy to fill out and my doctor had no issue with them at all. Our forms were also easy to fill out and I love that!

We were very happy with the service provided by Allianz. They had people available to help with our claim over the phone, and once we provided supporting documents they needed we got email updates regarding the status of our claim submitted on 10/4/19. They issued a check for the full amount of the claim on 10/15/19. I call that EXCELLENT service!

Thank you for handling our trip cancellation with such courtesy and efficiency. We had to cancel due to my Mother's illness a day before our planned trip on American Airlines. I had purchased a ticket and Mom was on a mileage ticket. I received a full refund and Mother got a refund on the $150 fee it cost to re-bank her miles.

The last few days of my trip to Portugal I was getting news that a cat 5 hurricane was expected to hit South Florida around the time I was to return. The timing wasn’t definite but it seemed that the hurricane making landfall was. I changed my flight to stay another day. The airline did this without charge. I had to stay at the hotel an extra night and take a taxi to the airport. I submitted the hotel and taxi fare to Allianz. The process was simple. It was approved quickly. A check was sent within a couple of weeks. I can’t imagine another insurance company could be easier to work with. Thank you Allianz!

I purchased travel insurance from Allianz when I purchased roundtrip airfare between Seattle and Boston for my wife and myself. Due to a medical issue that arouse the day before we were scheduled to fly on the 1st leg of our trip I was forced to cancel the reservation and seek medical care. Thereafter I booked a new reservation when I was cleared to fly and submitted a claim for reimbursement for the cost of the original reservation which Allianz paid promptly after I provided the medical documentation they requested. I was very pleased with the process and overall experience.

I recommend other customers to "read the super fine print". Think Thomas Cook. I suggest EVERY customer get a list of which airlines you reimburse in the case of bankruptcy or ANY other reason an airline can't get a plane in the air on contracted date. In Italy I'm told Thomas Cook is kaput...that means ANY airline can go kaput. You take out insurance to insure protection...not sort of protection. Poor ethics when you start excluding certain carriers. Go above the minimum.

I was very disappointed with getting only $200 for two people due to a flight cancellation and a four and a half hour delay. I expected to be compensated for the entire amount of the flight. I don't think I'll be using your services again.

Unforeseen medical conditions caused us to cancel a planned cruise, and Allianz took care of reimbursing us for the associated airline flights. Not all of the cost was recovered, but much more than if we hadn't had the insurance. Allianz was easy to work with and we got the refund promptly. As we age travel becomes more problematic, and Allianz insurance was well worth the gamble and cost.

Good service and claim approved but it was simple request and allowed. 24 DAYS later after I was notified check has been mailed and I still don't have my check. I called and rep said 12 -14 days to receive. It has been but the point is it takes two days for mail from Georgia. When you notify of approval and use the words "your check is in the mail" better to say "you have been approved and don't expect your check before 2 weeks from today as we drag our feet to process this even though we are totally computerized". This is known as transparency.

I had a wonderful claim experience with Allianz. My trip was canceled at the last minute due to Typhoon Hagibis. The claim submission process was very painless and I was surprised to get the refund in less than a week. For as little as travel insurance costs it is certainly worth it when the unexpected happens.

I did not get the bag at Heathrow airport. I filed a complaint with American Airline Customer service. They could not locate the bag. They checked on the system and said that the bag came out of the airplane at Heathrow Airport. I received the bag next day with 18 hours delay.

I had booked a flight for my mom's surgery, her surgeon changed date. I was going to change airfare, but then she was exposed to Mono and we had to wait and make sure her blood tests came back clear of Mono which wasn’t until day before my flight was supposed to leave. Signing up to cover trip cancellation coverage with Allianz with the help of my AAA agent was a quick, clear and clean process. Allianz responded very quickly with kindly written, clear process paperwork. Some weeks later, when I needed to cancel my flight on MD orders, the same quick response from Allianz with clearly stated communication, no hassle, no postponed responses and a full check completed the process. Very impressive. I shared this experience with some globetrotting friends who will follow through with Allianz. We had to cancel a trip due to a severe problem with our child at school. Someone at Allianz ultimately stepped up and reimbursed us for the airfare but it was a battle. The description of the policy when purchasing from Jet Blue is extremely deceptive! By filing a claim Allianz starts an inquisition into virtually all aspects of a person's health, both mental and physical in what I felt was a blatant attempt to have me drop the claim. Much to my surprise when reading all of the “fine print” customers are actually waiving all privacy rights. This should be made very clear from the outset, not the misleading question of whether or not “you want to protect your purchase.” This whole matter is very deceptive on the part of Allianz and Jet Blue as they are facilitating this scam on their website!

I had bought this insurance just because I’ve never had to use insurance before. My sister and I had a vacation scheduled and she received a notice a subpoena to appear in court. We tried but could not change the date of the subpoena and we had to cancel the vacation. I called and then sent the information into Allianz, online, along with a copy of the subpoena. These guys are terrible. They claim to be a travel insurance company, but when I landed in London and found out that, due to strikes, there was a 14 hour delay that will limit/completely change the itinerary of what was supposed to be a once in a life time trip to South Africa they aren’t willing to cover the cost of the trip. They claimed that I took the trip, so they were unwilling to reimburse me, but I couldn’t exactly turn around and cancel the trip after I was already in London. I took a trip, but not the trip I paid for and it was British Airways fault for altering my “once in a life time” trip in such a way that I will have to go again to complete it. All I asked for was a reimbursement on what I spent on the flight, so that I wouldn’t lose money on having to take another trip across the pond, but they were unwilling to help. This is why I give them a 1 star review. What is the point of travel insurance if they don’t cover when airlines ruin a trip.

I have ALWAYS purchased concert ticket insurance through Allianz "just in case" something happened. I've never needed to file a claim until now. You'd think as much money as I've given them over the years, the one time I need their services they would help. Well guess what? NOPE! I was just informed otherwise and that lesson cost me $900.
I purchased concert tickets and insurance for me and a friend. The tickets were for sandbar seats. Well UNBEKNOWNST to me until AFTER my purchase do I find out my friend is claustrophobic and cannot be in the midst of that extremely crowded area at the concert. Well go figure, claustrophobia is classified as an anxiety disorder, which is NOT covered under this policy so sorry about my luck! In all seriousness, when planning to attend an event how many people think to tell someone they are claustrophobic and I would NEVER have even thought to ask such a question in return. And I doubt Allianz employees would think to ask such a question either. So because I was UNAWARE of my friend's medical condition and upon finding out, I filed a claim the same day WITHIN AN HOUR of my purchase (I didn't even have time to read any policy because I wanted to remedy the situation in a timely manner) my claim was denied.
It's unexpected situations like this being the reason I insure my tickets. So basically I am out roughly $900 because Allianz won't cover something I HAD NO KNOWLEDGE OF! So anyone who decides to purchase insurance covering more than just yourself, be sure to ask all the participants if they're claustrophobic or not! Pretty darn sad when you're punished for something you were clueless to. Thanks for having my back Allianz!! And I've read the response to other reviews. I know, I know....you're sorry for my experience with Allianz Global Insurance BUT...yadda, yadda, yadda. Unless you're going to re-evaluate my claim and rectify the outcome, I don't need the speech. However, I DO KNOW that you just lost a valuable customer!

I missed my flight due to Royal Jordanian’s late flight and I was stuck in Chicago for from 3:30 to 10:00 a.m. RJ didn't find a hotel near the airport so they indicated there was nothing they could do. I called Allianz Travel Insurance since I paid $79 for insurance for a one-way trip. When I called from the airport and they looked up my policy, I was told I had a $300 limit.
I just received approval for expenses and I am only getting $150.00. When I was I spoke to Jennifer and then Mary ID **, the supervisor, all they cared was to argue about why I only received $150. Do yourself a favor and look for a better travel insurance. This is not worth the money. You spent $70 and you might just get $80 additional dollars. MIGHT is the key word.

Due to a health issue we had to cancel out rain trip across the USA. Luckily we had taken out Allianz cancellation insurance. The claim process seems straightforward if you live in America but not so if you live abroad. The claim form asked for a US address and wouldn't let you proceed if you didn't complete this. After a phone call and some emails we finally got there but it did take a few tries. We are happy with the outcome but perhaps an intentional claim form would have helped?

I felt really safe during our travel because I saw some of your offices like in Netherlands & Switzerland. When we arrived back in NY, my luggage was damaged and I was surprise because within 24 hours Allianz already took action, much faster than the airline who broke my luggage.

I purchased travel insurance on June 18, 2019, for a scheduled round trip on JetBlue. I was booked to leave San Jose, CA on Monday, September 16th (arriving JFK on 9/17) and to return to San Jose, CA from JFK on Wednesday, October 2, 2019. On July 4, 2019, I awoke with severe pain in my left foot. As I suffer from osteoporosis, I initially thought that I had broken a bone in that foot. My PCP was able to get me an emergency appointment with a podiatrist, who believed I was suffering from Gout and treated me accordingly. Within the next two weeks, the pain had spread to my right foot and was beginning to extend up my legs. I subsequently had both an MRI (revealing a fractured disk), as well as a Nerve Conduction and Electromyography study (which revealed chronic and severe nerve damage emanating from S1/S2). I have been essentially bed-bound from July through the current date.
When I finally determined that there was no way that I could fly the 5+ hours to NY without significant pain, I contacted JetBlue to cancel my flight. They refunded my base fee, net of a $100 penalty, to a Jet Blue Travel Account. At that time, they also indicated that I would be reimbursed (to my form of payment) for the amount I had paid for my “Even More Space” seats. When I initially filed my claim with Allianz, I included both the $100 penalty, as well as the “Even More Space” fees, as the credit had not appeared on my card. I also uploaded my PCP’s monthly appointment notes, as well as the results of the MRI and the Nerve Conduction/Electromyography study.
Within 15 days, I received an Allianz check for the entire amount reported. As Jet Blue had subsequently posted credits to my credit card for the “even more space” seats, I contacted Allianz to ask how I should return the amount paid me for those fees. It was a pleasure to deal with the Allianz agent. He was very courteous and pleasant. I subsequently cashed the Allianz check and returned the excess to the Recovery Department. The entire process was very simple and straightforward, requiring very little time or effort from me. I would definitely recommend Allianz to anyone who flies and wants to protect their “investment” in airfare.

I had to cancel my flight and hotel reservations due to a medical issue that arose prior to my trip. Allianz covered the trip cancellation fee from my airline with minimal fuss: I just had to fill out the form and was not required to provide additional information from my doctors (information I had but preferred not to provide for privacy reasons).

After Delta didn’t locate my item, I thought about my trip insurance and decided to submit a claim. Since I had already received the negative response from Delta, it was a user friendly and quick process. I have a much less positive experience with another carrier in the past. Thanks!

I rented a car from Thrifty for the day in Spokane to go to a wedding. Thrifty claimed I put a small dent in it above the gas tank. I was notified a few days later that Thrifty had filed a claim for the damage. I notified Allianz and the claim was taken care of right away. The agent for Thrifty even commented on the swiftness of Allianz. I will use them for all my car rental insurance needs.

March of 2019 my wife and I cancelled our cruise trip to Europe for an unscheduled surgery. After receiving a refund from the cruise line, I filed a claim against our annual travel policy. It was handled quick and efficiently. A few weeks later I realized that I had not filed for all the moneys that I should have. I attempted to file a new claim for this amount. My mistake. The computer said I could not file a new claim as a claim had already been filed. I let it go for a few months and then called customer service. They very carefully explained that I needed to file the additional information on the original claim and how to do this. Anthony called from claims, reconciled the 2 different claim numbers, and said he would handle it. He did and I had the additional money in 2 days. I highly recommend Allianz and will never let my annual policy expire as long as we are travelling. Thank you for great service.

I mistakenly scheduled our train trip on the wrong day. I submitted my claim and my check was in my mail when I returned from my vacation. Frantic, I called Amtrak to reschedule which cost an additional $200.00. I submitted my claim and the refund of my ticket more than paid for insurance cost.

Recently I had to fly from Oregon to Ohio to attend a funeral for a close Aunt. Although I normally don't buy trip insurance, for some reason I decided to take it this time. All went well until the return flight when I was delayed on the Dayton runway for an hour due to thunderstorms in my connecting hub. By the time I arrived I had missed my connection flight to Portland and had to spend the night in Detroit. A couple of weeks later I turned in my claim with for receipts for shuttles, a meal and hotel costs for my trip interruption. Within a week I was pleasantly relieved to find that my claim was approved in full and a check was on its way. Since my $200 claim was more than the cost of the insurance it was money well spent. Allianz was the first travel insurance company we've ever dealt with. After reading various reviews about Allianz, we decided to use them. We are very glad we did. Due to the weather, part of our trip was cancelled. My wife documented all the changes that resulted. At the conclusion of our trip we notified Allianz of our loss and sent them the documentation. We received an email stating that we would be reimbursed in seven to ten business days. I don't know if it had to do with my wife's documentation efforts, but within two hours of the initial email, we received another email stating that we would be fully refunded and that a check would be sent immediately! The peace of mind we enjoyed while travelling, was an added bonus. Without reservation, I would definitely choose Allianz again! Thanks Allianz, for ending our travel adventure on a high note!

We had to cancel airline reservations due to a serious injury our daughter had that required us to care for her 24/7 for several months. The hospital provided a document that we forwarded to Allianz and our trip was cancelled and we were refunded the full amount of our travel cost.

I filed a claim for a few medical bills related to an illness experienced while on a cruise. The claim filing process was very easy and I received reimbursement in less than a week. I suffered a broken arm from an accidental fall while traveling in Estonia. The claim information was submitted after I arrived back home (an easy process!). Our company made a claim in the name of an Ex-employee. The claim was settled and the check was sent but it was addressed in the name of the former employee, not the name of the company. Legally you can't deposit or use a check addressed in another person's name. Allianz should have an extenuating circumstance clause for situations where an employee is no longer employed with a company even though the claim originated in the former employee's name (but a company card was used).

I will purchase this insurance every time we travel. You hope to never use it but in this case a hurricane stopped all travel into Cabo so I had to stay an extra night. I filed a claim and was reimbursed within a week. Great service.

I recently had to cancel a trip because of a medical condition of a travel partner. Fortunately I had all my ducks in a row when I filed the claim but I was nonetheless expecting a long and cumbersome process in collecting the claim. My luggage did not come with me when I landed at LAX from Saravejo connecting to Vienna to LAX I boarded Austrian airlines so I file a claim to my travel insurance. Allianz Global I was very satisfied with their service because after I submitted the claim they paid me right away. No hassle. The website was difficult for me to use in uploading e-mails, which was the primary way I had of all communications. The fax number or mailing address were not clear on the website either. Once I got all the info necessary, called customer support for a fax number, I was able to fax in the required documents. I quickly got an e-mail with confirmation of receipt, and within a week received the full amount of the insurance. So, like many websites, there are things that could be better. Also, like most customer service centers, they tend to be automated up to the point where you almost hang up, but then get a human. The humans were polite, helpful and understanding, it was just a chore to get to one. I would use Allianz again, the cost/benefit ratio seems about right.

Allianz Insurance is something everyone traveling should have, sure was money well spent for me. On vacation in Europe I required an emergency hospital visit, turned out to be nothing serious. Upon my returned I contacted Allianz, filled out their forms detailing my hospital visit and amount charged and within 7 days I received a check covering all I paid to the hospital. I would recommend Allianz to anyone who travels.

We decided to cancel our trip to Nuevo Vallarta due to Tropical Storm Narda, which appeared along Mexico’s west coast a couple of days before our scheduled departure date. We sent Allianz the documentation we felt warranted our decision to cancel. We were reimbursed the following day. This was a no hassle experience for us and we certainly appreciate that.

The cost for the insurance was so worth it. A tropical storm and a declaration of a state of emergency derailed our vacation plans. Allianz stepped in and did what they said they would - refunded the cost of our travel (once evidence was provided). From here on out, we will continue to be Allianz customers.

Updated on 10/25/2019: Allianz's response to my original review was: contact another email address. Called them and they told me the words "for weather" on American Airlines confirmation of flight cancellation had somehow disappeared. No other words in the email were missing. Really? They also want other detail such as the cost of each individual flight on the ticket. Never seen a ticket that shows that before, just a price summary - back to the airline yet again. And so the run-around continues.
Original Review: Submitted a cancelled flight online claim June 16 which Allianz confirmed June 28. Then they required the same and further documentation by mail which we duly resubmitted in July. They couldn't access the original form so we resubmitted Sept 11. Since then, all enquiries as to the status of this claim receive Do-not-reply "The document you have sent has been routed to the claims department for review. Should we require any further information, you will be contacted." Allianz's objective appears to be wear the claimant down until they give up.

I planned to go on this trip with my boyfriend's mother. She had a busy trip in Key West and offered for me to go with her. With a stressful and busy summer I just knew that I needed to get out of town. Unfortunately, my grandmother fell terminally ill and she didn't have any likelihood of getting better. As her primary caregiver this posed quite the issue for me regarding my trip. Up until this moment, I had help lined up for her while I was out of town but now having her on hospice care I just knew I could not leave her during this vulnerable time. I am thankful for Allianz being so easy to work with and quick with response during this time. Also for allowing me to spend time with my grandmother during her last few days of life without having to worry about this trip and losing money for my flight.

Be careful to read the fine print before buying insurance on your tickets. The reasons to cancel and get your money back are extremely restrictive and the personnel answering the phone not friendly. We had a change of plans and wanted to get our $146 back but that's not one of the covered reasons. The representatives wouldn't budge.

Wife got sick four days before the trip, the doctors would not let us go on our trip. Emailed Allianz and got the reimbursement process started. We received our entire trip expenses ($16048.00) within 16 days of filing the claim. The online claim process was a bit difficult to maneuver but after a few trials and error I was able to upload my lengthy required documents. Then it was a matter of waiting for email response saying that documents were being reviewed and sent for approval. Insurance package costs were $1397.00 for two seniors over 70 years of age. We will use Allianz again in the future.

My trip cancellation claim was submitted online. Supporting documents including ticket receipts and medical notes were also submitted online. A reasonably prompt and satisfactory claim settlement check followed. I could not have expected anything better from any other insurance carrier.

I purchased travel insurance through Allianz for a trip to Europe. On the long non stop flight to Paris I suffered a major panic attack (I have no history of anxiety or panic and do not take any medication). Fortunately I received assistance from two friends who were traveling with me and also excellent assistance from one of the flight attendants. I was given oxygen for two hours and given a seat in a lighted, more spacious area. After arrival in Paris, the return flight gave me great concern because I was now concerned about a re-occurence of panic.
I contacted Allianz Global Assistance to establish what my options were (I was considering taking a cruise ship back). I contacted them three times and at each time the agent was friendly, seemed knowledgeable, opened a claim file, and asked me for an estimate on the costs of the claim. I gave them each a detailed account of my situation and they in turn gave me exact instructions on how to proceed. They offered a medical evacuation and reassured me they had my back. I followed all the instructions, carried through with medical evaluations & medication, and then followed the physician's suggestions exactly. I decided to forego medical evacuation since that seemed to involve more costs than what I was able to arrange myself.
The physician's suggestions were to fly accompanied, upgrade the seat to minimize the feeling of confinement, and to take medication as needed. I followed these suggestions. To do so I had to cut short my trip and reroute the return. Fortunately all went well with the return. After my return I sent in the required documentation and paperwork to Allianz. The claim was denied with the explanation that the policy did not cover mental/emotional medical issues. Any of the three Allianz agents should have told me that. Instead they offered me medical evacuation. When I chose a much simpler, less expensive and less involved route, they denied the claim. First they tell you they have your back, then they stab you in the back. My suggestion: definitely do not go with Allianz if you have a choice.

I had booked a tour to Iran one year ago. Recently due to the escalation of tension in Iran, I had decided to cancel the tour. The Australian tour company Intrepid paid my money back 100%. I filed with Allianz to get reimbursed for my international airfare but they denied. I always thought customer service was the greatest but I guess not. Even though there is a valid reason which even the tour company recognized, Allianz failed to honor that.

I turned in all of the requested paperwork over a year ago, was put off several times, they took longer than their stated times to reply on several occasions, and didn't follow up on services. I paid for their services and I have been cheated, not just out of the $70 that I paid for the insurance, but for the $400+ I lost on my ticket for not being reimbursed. Very happy with the service provided by both Allianz Insurance and JetBlue Airlines, we always fly to the United States from the United Kingdom and always use internal flights with JetBlue and when we travel in the United States and also when we flew to Hawaii using partner airlines. We are travelling from New York JFK to St. Maarten in December using JetBlue again as we really enjoy the airline.

I had two claims related to a brief trip to the Azores. One was for additional costs I incurred due to a trip interruption, and one for medical expenses due to a fall after I tripped a fell on some cobblestones (with an 8 hour ER visit). Allianz promptly approved my claim (after I had submitted ALL of the necessary paperwork). I was very pleasantly surprised by how quickly they resolved this and reimbursed me for my expenses.

The day before our scheduled departure, our final destination was under mandatory evacuation due to Hurricane Dorian. American Airlines, in an appalling and inconsiderate display of greed, refused to refund any of the $425 we had paid them, or even to provide a voucher for a future flight. I sent documentation that our final destination was unlikely to have water or power for several days, and that the extent of damage to the island was not yet known, due to the evacuation. The airline could not have cared less.
Fortunately, Allianz was there to help. Their staff were very helpful on the phone, and the claim filing process was simple and user-friendly. After the utter lack of responsiveness from American, I was expecting a battle to get anything back on our trip insurance, but that was not the case. After I submitted documents, including some screenshots showing the difficult conditions at our destination, Allianz immediately and without debate paid out on our claim and issued checks for the full amount we had spent for the flights we couldn't take. I could not be more satisfied with this experience and would recommend the company to anyone who is traveling. The investment is well worth it.

My wife and I came down with the flu during a recent trip. We had to be isolated from our son and his family. The trip insurance paid for our motel bills while we recovered. Excellent service - didn't have to argue or complain!

While traveling I had to go to an emergency clinic and also our baggage did not arrived with us, so we had to buy things while they were delivered to us. We submitted the expenses to Allianz when we got back to the USA and this company has been very prompt in responding to the claims. I have used Allianz before and with the same results.

I had to shorten my trip due to pending hurricane. I lost one day rental fee. Allianz reimbursed me immediately for the one-day rental amount. Filing a claim was easy and fast! I appreciate the quick response and will not hesitate to purchase trip insurance again.

Was pleased with how simple the process was to receive the refund of airline tickets for a trip I was not able to make due to an illness in the family. It was easy to load supporting documents and payment was made promptly.

I was delayed by train by about 5-6 hours and received compensation for that from Allianz which I wasn't expecting. It paid for the cost of the insurance plus some of the trip itself. I appreciated it and will use it again as this was unexpected and I was reimbursed quickly.

Very happy with the outcome of our claim. The process was easy and the payment was timely. I would highly recommend the trip insurance as it was very relevant to our trip. The Hurricane prevented us from travelling and the claim was quickly approved.
