    While on my way to an airport in Montana, I struck a deer in a remote area of Idaho. Got a ride to a different airport, caught a flight and made my way home. Rental car was severely damaged and had to be towed from the scene. I struggled some filling out the online forms due to my limited computer skills. Went on another trip and when I returned.     I called Allianz on the early morning hours of Saturday June 8th from Hawaii. We had booked our resort for 5 nights and wanted 7 instead. She asked for my order number, which I had the actually Allianz paperwork with me. I told her it showed a confirmation number, but not an order number. So I tried to give her this number and her attitude became totally rude stating she could not help me without the order number. After putting me in tears, she finally looked up my account by my name and gave me the “order” number, which was the same as the reservation number I gave her! She told me to make sure I know it for the future. Totally rude and I called my travel agent that same day to complain how beyond rude and yelling this Allianz rep was. I would never book another trip if Allianz is involved!

    We were all ready to catch out flight the next day. My daughter called and spoke to my wife. My daughter a miscarriage and there was no way we'd be flying off the California. Having this type of cancellation, should have prompted a specialist from Allianz to file and take care of the claim. They wanted information that I had to get from my daughter hospital visit and procedure. This only added to the experience.     I would give you a good recommendation for your service. But suggest you make the “covered cancellation policy” more clear and offer coverage for “any reason” cancellation, so you understand what you are actually getting. We would have not have been eligible for reimbursement if we had not been able to get the medical support documentation. I have read others were not as fortunate, when canceling for other reasons.

    Truth be told, my experience isn’t over yet, but at this point, I’m very dissatisfied. I purchased this trip insurance and had to cancel our trip, when I became pregnant with a high-risk pregnancy and was advised by my doctors not to travel. My claim was processed and approved fairly quickly, which I was happy about, and the customer service was excellent. The website was easy to use and submitting the documents of proof that were needed, was simple and easy. This is where the positive experience ends.

    A few weeks later, I received the refund check for my trip and deposited it into my checking account. A few days later, the check bounced and I was charged a fee by my bank. I contacted Allianz on 8/15/19 and was told that I would need to submit proof that the check bounced and they would have to “request approval” to also refund me the fee my bank charged me for depositing a bad check. I submitted proof of this while still on the phone with a rep and was told that it would take them 3-5 business days to process the new issue/claim, and another 7-10 days to cut me a new check, and the check would arrive in another 7-10 days. Since I’d already had to wait several weeks to be issued the initial refund that bounced, I asked if there was anything they could do to speed this up—they said ‘no’, but agreed that in lieu of another check, they could direct deposit the amount onto my debit card, after the 3-5 days needed for processing.

    By 8/26/19 (11 days later), I contacted them again, as I had not been issued the refund and was only told via email that they had *just* received my documents on 8/23/19–8 days after I emailed the documents of proof. The rep told me that someone there had voided a check on 8/23/19 and I would have to start the claim process over again. Despite being able to read back notes from my claim, showing that I had done everything they’d asked of me, no one could provide a straight answer about why I hadn’t received the funds I am owed.

    Every time I called customer service to discuss this, I had to re-explain the issue, only to be told I would have to talk to a supervisor. I was repeatedly put on-hold, for them to get “a supervisor”, which took 10-20 mins every time, only for them to just get someone on the phone who spoke better English, but basically couldn’t do anything else to resolve the issue. Everyone keeps telling me that “they don’t work in the finance department and can’t control the timelines or policies.”

    Before this payment issue happened, I would’ve absolutely recommended Allianz to others, however, I cannot say that now. I just want the refund I was approved for (and paid to be able to get, if needed), as well as to be issued a refund for the fee my bank charged me, due to the bad check. I should be given more than that, due to all the time I’ve wasted on this, but I doubt that will happen.

Due to illness my daughter had to first changed the date then wasn't able to make the trip at the last minute so she was unable to get a credit from the airline.     I had great experiences with both the JetBlue and Allianz reps, when I had to cancel my JetBlue trip (**) of 8/2/19 due to complications that my daughter-in-law had developed with her pregnancy. Needless to say, I was very distraught, and appreciated very much the sincerity and compassion of both reps. The process was seamless and without any hassle. Kudos to both reps for their professionalism, kindness and empathy. I received a refund for the full fare amount on schedule. I am so sorry that I could not recall the names of both the JetBlue and Allianz reps who assisted me.

    That was unlike my encounter with a second Allianz rep and his so-called supervisor when I placed a call, on my daughter’s behalf, regarding the status of her refund. Both the rep and his supervisor were uncaring, unsympathetic and very cold. They were robotic-like in their responses and did not care about the reason for the trip cancellation. They insisted that my daughter, Taryn **, needed to show proof by getting a doctor’s note from my daughter-in-law’s physician before the refund could be processed. My daughter is still waiting for her refund.

Several weeks ago I had a phone call with Allianz employee, and he has mentioned, that all necessary documents have been received, and in 10 working days I will receive compensation. But it's already more than a month since I have applied for compensation, and nothing is done. Another Claim Type: Baggage Loss has been proceeded, and 250$ confirmed for payment (check #**), but I have to received any money. Please specify to which bank account it has been transferred.

    You buy airline insurance for the just in case something bad happens or the what if things that life throws at you. I have anxiety and depression and have battled with it for most of my life but have never been suicidal before. Until a week before I was to travel to visit my husband who was out of state working. I was admitted into the hospitals and stayed there for treatment. I, of course will be missing both of my flights. I completed all the correct paperwork and submitted it. My claim was denied because mental illness are not covered.

    SO. Pro-tip. READ what they actual cover under medical because it's a JOKE to say that they actual cover medical reasons. If you have Alzheimer's, dementia, neurosis, psychosis, or any mental health or nervous disorder it is NOT covered under trip cancellation. ALWAYS read what they actually cover, that was my mistake. I read through the policy. It's a joke to pay money for this. I will not be a customer again and will not recommend this to anyone.

    I am more disappointed with myself for not understanding the health rules you put forth than with you. My husband had a heart attack, a stent installed and a stroke over a two week period yet was able to get clearance to go to Hawaii by his cardiologist before I bought the ticket. He’s 80 and I wanted to make sure he saw Hawaii while he could still enjoy it. Unfortunately, within a couple weeks of the trip he had another more significant stroke which required extensive rehab which he is still involved with. No good deed goes unpunished. I am angry with myself for clearly not understanding the contract and yet I don’t blame you for the lost $2200, it was my fault. It didn’t even enter my mind that there would be a problem with the insurance! I’m stunned that I gave Hawaiian Airlines $2200 and received nothing in return!! If we ever get to fly again I’ll pay more for refundable tickets and not buy travel insurance.

    We don't travel much and now that we are older we understand you never know what life will throw at you. We bought travel insurance from Allianz recommended by our AAA travel agent. Best decision we made in a long time.     Initially I was a little skeptical about getting travel insurance, but in the past we have lost money on an Airbnb and doctor visit with no insurance. On a trip to UK this past July we were taking no chances and bought a basic policy. Well, lo and behold if I didn't get a case of bronchitis three days after arriving! And had to see a doctor in order to confirm diagnosis and get something stronger more than over the counter cough syrup.     My flight on July 12 from Barcelona to Chicago on AA #41 was delayed. As a result I was going to miss my connection from Chicago to Albuquerque. When I called your office from Barcelona on July 12, I was told that because my flight was not delayed 4 hours or more, that I had no right to make a claim. What a shock! I felt tricked and betrayed - thinking I had travel insurance.

    Your representative was less than kind or helpful. He kept parroting a formula response. Under no circumstance would he guarantee any compensation for a delay...so I had to face paying out of pocket for another flight that would get me & my companion home on the scheduled day.     We had purchased an Allianz product for flight insurance months prior to our trip. Unexpectedly, our daughter ended up with a psychiatric hospitalization that occurred at the time of the flight. To our surprise, being in the hospital wasn't a good enough reason to miss a flight by their standards, and they provided no coverage for trip cancellation - because it was a mental health concern. I am an MD, and the brain is part of the body. This is overt discrimination. On the Alaska site from which we purchased it, there was no information under the FAQs, although there was a warning about existing medical conditions (which didn't apply in our case). As best I could tell, you couldn't read about what was covered until after you purchased the policy. The customer service rep was helpful, but the person to whom we were supposed to make our appeal did not call us at the time they had scheduled. We haven't heard from them again, and that was 3 weeks ago.

Second Allianz rep confessed to website challenges and suggested that I email the requested attachments. I did. The web site stated that claims would be addressed in 5 work days. The email did succeed, but promised claims resolution in 10 days. A very time consuming process. As well, no one can identify if we will be refunded our entire ticket amounts or if we will instead be expected to take one year airline credit and Allianz will cover only the gap. If the latter is true, this insurance will have been a real waste of money as well as a drain on my time. Last, it is a strange time for Allianz to be conducting a POS survey. At this time, Allianz has done nothing but has consumed a fair amount of our time.

    We are very pleased with Allianz travel insurance and their customer service. Although previously having never submitted any travel related claim, we routinely have purchased insurance for emergency health expenses that might occur, particularly for foreign travel. Two months after returning we filed a claim for a travel delay while on a long personal trip to Portugal and Spain. We had received a text message from American Airlines at 2 am stating that our return trip that morning was canceled and we had been automatically rebooked for two days later. There was no explanation and no other cancelations were reported by AA during that period. We were left to fend for ourselves. The airlines was not helpful in assisting us to rebook an earlier return with other carriers and later refused our reimbursement request for minimal lodging and food due to their delay.

    On the other hand it was a pleasant experience to see how Allianz provided helpful information on our claim submission, efficient processing, and prompt reimbursement. In the future our main purpose for travel insurance will continue to be as mitigation for unexpected accident or health related expenses.     Background: I'm 60, retired USAF. My son asked me to run with him in the Air Force Marathon in September 2019. I registered, and bought airline tickets with travel insurance from Allianz - standard practice for me. I began training. A month later, I developed a severe case of Plantar Fasciitis. I immediately sought medical help. I rested and I stretched. When I healed, I began training and the pain returned. I went back to the doctor and he told me that I could not run the marathon, I need extensive rest for the injury to heal completely.

    I filed a claim with Allianz. I was confused about what paperwork they needed, so I called their customer support. They explained exactly what documents I needed to submit (four in total). They also explained the sequencing of canceling my flight, finalizing my claim, and their review. I got the documents together and submitted them online. Allianz paid my claim within 24 hours!     I was very disappointed with buying this insurance. It made my traveling a lot more complicated as opposed to helpful. I bought this insurance for the exact reason that I had to use it, which was the off chance my work schedule changed and I needed to get back up earlier. However, the process to get this done became chaos. My policy clearly stated that I would get reimbursed and was told the first time on the phone that would happen, however I was denied.

    Then, I called to understand why and they said I needed to submit more documents, which I did. Then, I was denied again. I called one more time and explained the situation and this time I was told to make an appeal, which should give me my reimbursement. I did end up getting my claim, but I do not ever plan to use this again because it caused much more of a headache and wasn't helpful. The people I spoke to were helpful but I was just very dissatisfied with my overall experience of using this. I really don't plan to buy this again as it was not worth it for all the chaos that happened.

Firstly, the operator should have know that given the level of English that the answers that the policy compliance was based on may have been compromised. After $400 in medical bills for bed bugs/severe insect bites and 7 months of dealing with Allianz/TD Travel Medical Insurance my parents policy has been declined. After finding every excuse not to pay, TD requested my mothers medical records from three years ago and found she had not declared arthritis in her knee. The only questions she was asked by the TD representative where what medications she was on, any major illness and any chronic disease. She has now been declined "for failure to disclose or misrepresentation".

    Shame on you TD Travel Medical Insurance and Allianz for taking advantage of my hardworking, innocent, immigrant parents. You should have asked them to make the call with someone who could translate or provided a translator yourself for the questionnaire and furthermore, don't claim to have asked questions that were not asked! Classic "our word against yours"! Don't scam innocent, hard working Canadians! BUYER BEWARE! TD/ALLIANZ will find any reason to not pay out your claim. Wish my parents had told me of their intentions to purchase insurance as I would have read online reviews and warned them before purchasing a Travel Medical Policy from TD/ALLIANZ. Do your research. Read the reviews!!!

    I booked a trip to the Caymans months ago (air/hotel) and was just recently informed that my flight home was cancelled and there are no other flights out for over 24 hours. The airport is doing runway repairs and the airport is closing for approx 36 hours. This meant rebooking a flight and another night at the hotel/food. I submitted a claim for travel delay and it has been denied because the trip has not happened yet! I guess it would be covered if I showed up at the airport the day I was scheduled to leave and found out there was no flight? I have made numerous calls/emails to Allianz and get different info each time. Virtually impossible to speak directly to claims dept. One agent told me this would fall under trip cancellation which would cover my extra night accommodations. The policy clearly states "cessation of operations" as well as "travel carrier delay" as covered conditions. I am currently filing an appeal. BUYER BEWARE!!!!

    My husband became ill while we were traveling in Europe. Unfortunately he felt so awful that he decided to return home a week early which incurred an airline change fee of nearly $500!     We were traveling home from NYC on June 1. Our AA flight through DFW was severely delayed arriving due to thunderstorms over the airfield for a lengthy period of time. By the time we arrived in DFW, the time was approx midnight. There were allegedly two flights scheduled to our final destination, Tulsa, but those were cancelled shortly after we inquired at both gates.     Every year I buy out of country medical when I buy our flights through RBC but this year we didn’t, as my manager said we have company coverage through Alliance. I’ve never needed coverage but always bought to be protected in case something happened. This year, I got sick with the flu and turned to bronchial pneumonia. The resort medical sent me to the hospital in Mexico. I thought everything was covered. I contacted Alliance on the way and got a case number. Alliance authorized treatment and that night when I was released, I got the worst news you can imagine! Alliance refused to authorize payment until they got my medical records from my family doctor! At 8:00pm, how am I going to get that! My choices were to sit in the waiting room (armed guard at door) until morning when they could get my records OR pay over $2500 USD which was more than $3,000 CDN to get out. Then I’d get the money back once I got home.

    I checked my credit cards and could just barely make that amount which meant we’d have no cushion if anything else came up. I paid it to get out and thought it would be paid back to me quickly after returning. Well, it’s been almost 4 months and I finally got the last amount of over $2,000 yesterday. I got two small checks; one a month ago and another two weeks ago. I called every week and was told it was in processing. The last amount was with a manager to review for 3 weeks before being authorized for payment. Their excuse was that it might have been a preexisting illness!! What nonsense is that! The flu can have complications such as pneumonia. I get their reasons but dragging out reimbursement to me for 4 months is NOT acceptable! I don’t recommend Alliance for travel medical#!
