4 new 40,000 mile tires and a wheel alignment. Put less than 20,000 miles on the tires....2 have completely shredded to the thread, and Mavis refuses to honor the warranty! My car has never worn tires this way, and has not been right since their alignment.

I left Midas after getting rear brakes done only to get to my hotel and find out I had a nail in my tire. Mavis was the nearest place I could get to before they closed. I called the branch phone number (so I thought) at 5:20 and the gentleman (Jose) said to come on in. He said patches wouldn't take long. I told him it would take me about 20 minutes to get there. When I got there, the people had no idea what I was talking about. They said I had reached a call center, which I was unaware of. I wasted 45 minutes worth of driving to get nowhere. Now I'm stuck with a nail in my tire overnight because they didn't have time to fix it. I'll never deal with Mavis again.

I had brought my vehicle in for service and they told me that I needed a part and so I had the part put in. Then they called me and they said when they were bringing my car into the shop, the brake lines went. So, I needed two brake lines. I agreed to that. It was upward of $1,000. The car didn’t and never ran right after I picked it up. So, I brought it back and I said, “I thought I had bad gas. Can you take a look at it?” He said it needed $2,000 of work onto it. At that point, I said, “Forget it.”

I picked it up and I took it down to a mechanic that I knew and none of the brake lines had been replaced. I was so disappointed because I really like that Mavis Tire and I really thought that manager was really good. I liked him, and he was always upfront and fair. I was shocked. So, needless to say, I had to buy a new car and I ended up selling that as is. I've used Mavis for three years. Up until the last visit, I was always very satisfied and very confident. I don’t know what happened but something went wrong. I'm dissatisfied at this point.

You should avoid this shop. After installing brake pads and rotors, they returned my BMW with soft, squishy brakes and an error message on the panel. The mechanics “explained” to me that the computer will sense the change and eventually adjust the brake back to normal after I drive for a while. I drove directly to a BMW dealer only to find a damaged, leaking caliper courtesy of the Mavis Tire mechanics, who clearly don’t know how to make an otherwise simple repair on the car. Through the phone, they didn’t want to admit it, asking me to drive the car back from the dealer even when it is unsafe to drive. They are simply hard to work with and refuse to be responsible for their own gross negligence!

The new Mavis Discount Tire just Opened in Warren NJ, I had the worst experience with the service and the manager, Mike, I was simply there for an oil change and tire rotation when I left Mavis the oil pressure sensor pop up because it was low and they didn't put enough oil back into the car and also they left a mess in my car with dirtying my A Piller on the driver side window and driver side door was oily... I advise staying away from Mavis Discount Tire because they don't know how to deal with customers. Mike needs to learn some respect to the customer or customers that come in to do simple maintenance to the car and leave happy, not disappointed with the service that was provided.

They’ll do the dismounts and the mounting on stuff I bring in. I bought some tires from them. I didn’t have a spare, so I had them give me a spare. The sales rep I dealt with was fine too.

I called what I thought was N Dekalb Tire Co in Dekalb County GA not realizing Mavis recently bought them out. There was no sign changes. Anyways I called to get a quote on a set of tires and a front brake job. The salesman quoted me Goodyear tires and brakes. I agreed to the quoted price and brought my 2017 Rav 4 in for the work. After a couple of hours I called the shop and the salesman said they could only find 3 of the Goodyear tires. I was surprised that such a popular tire size was unavailable in Metro Atlanta with a population of 6 plus million people. He said they did have Hankook tires, which the salesman said were rated higher than the Goodyear. I believed him since I have have shopped at this store for many years.

When I did further research I found out the Hankook tires are not even close to the same quality as the Goodyear tires. I also noticed the Mavis name on the Hankook tires. I now realized I was baited and switched. A common despicable practice that is unlawful. About the brakes: I was quoted $89 for a front brake job. When I called the store the salesman said Mavis removed the rotor turning machine and they don’t turn rotors. He then tried to sell me new rotors. What type of car repair shop that does brakes does not turn rotors? Unfortunately, I really needed the car so I agreed to the new rotors.

The most troubling aspect of this ordeal was the shop did not call me to say they didn’t have the tires I agreed to nor did they say they don’t turn rotors. Another bait and switch. I should have just went and picked up my car and taken it to another shop. I have never felt so “hood winked” in my entire life. Had I known that Mavis took over this shop I would have not gone there due to very low ratings in our area. There was absolutely no signage anywhere with the Mavis name on it. The only signage was for the former shop. It would be very easy to have temporary sign alerting the customer the store was under Mavis management.

I will no longer give this company my business. I've find nothing but brag to family and friends of the Dallas, savings, and at home feeling I get when I often visit the Conyers location. I was first ignored, then belittled, and just overall plain embarrassed. All the while I'm still trying to calm the situation to continue doing business with the company. The way Mick possibly the manager at the time treated me today, there's no way I could ever feel comfortable spending my hard earned money in this establishment EVER again.

Tires are one of the most common 'commodities' for sale through third parties - the only value the retailer can provide is service and professional installation. Since Mavis Tire purchased Kauffman Tire the service has dropped to such poor levels I'm amazed they are still in business. After two separate experiences at two different Mavis locations we will NEVER take any of our vehicles back to Mavis Tire. Why can't they just emulate the great service offered by Kauffman Tire - we valued their service standards for many years. It's sad when a once great brand is swallowed by a new brand that cares so little for the customers that it claims to serve.

Terrible experience, and no service after the sale. I had 2 tires installed on 11/28/2018. I also at the same time, had a wheel alignment done per their suggestion. In May 2019, I had to replace the tire at another facility closer to where I lived, because it was worn out already. Before I had it replaced, I called Mavis Tires to ask for a warranty tire (or prorated, since it was less than 6 months old). I was told, "Sorry Ma'am, no warranty on the tires you bought." Considering I was never told this when I purchased, and also spent close to 1k with my husband getting new tires on this Ram 3500, I consider this appalling. Are they saying that it's typical for a tire to last less than 5 months? They also never reset my low tire pressure light also. I will be bringing this to the attention of corporate. Beware of this facility.

I have been a Mavis customer for over 20 years and have been generally happy with their service. This has now changed. My tale of woe: The TPMS light kept coming on every few weeks, and after filling up with air, it immediately went out. I brought my car (a 2013 Toyota Prius model 3) into the Lawrence, NY location (facility # 7098624) on 8 June 2019 to have the tire checked for a leak and repaired. I was told that my TPMS was leaking around the stem and I needed an entirely new unit because the washer could not be replaced. I have since found out this to be false. I confirmed with the manager that Mavis would re-program the TPMS. After having Mavis replace the TPMS, the TPMS light remained on and I was told that it could take a day for it to turn off. Experience has shown that when I have filled a tire up in the past the light extinguishes within a minute.

I bought the car back the next day with the light still on and was told it was never programmed. The TPMS system was re-programmed by Mavis, and the light went out, only to come back on within a week. I brought it back, it was reprogrammed, the light extinguished only to come back on within 2 days. I brought it back and was told it went back on because the tire pressure was low, Mavis filled the tire and the TPMS light stayed off for a day. Remember, I originally brought the car in because I suspected a leak in the tire.

On 25 June 2019, when I got to my car at 4 AM to go to work, the tire was completely flat. Fortunately, I have an electric air pump and re-inflated the tire, drove an hour and 40 miles to work. I checked on the tire around noon and it was totally flat again. I called roadside assistance to install the spare, only to find out that the lug nut lock I was given back by Mavis was not mine, did not fit my lug nut lock and so the wheel could not be removed. Roadside assistance was able to plug the tire while on the car, which cost $30. As he rotated the tire to find the leak, it was obvious that something was inside the tire, banging around.

I returned to Mavis on 29 June and was told by the manager on duty (Travis) that he was only there temporarily, there was nothing he could do, and I needed to get in touch with corporate. When he tried to pull up my customer record, he could not find it. The previous manager put in my plate as a dealer plate, without a number. He also misspelled my name and put in the incorrect model number of my car (it is a 3, not a 5). This is the information from the invoice: Work Order # **, Invoice # **, cash sale (even though it was a credit card sale), $124.90.

I have been in touch with the local Toyota dealer, who has a master key and can replace my wheel locks at a cost of around $120 for parts, labor and tax. I have called Mavis customer service to report this fiasco (ticket # 375934) and was told I would get a call back 2 July “at the latest”. Naturally, in keeping with Mavis’ fine customer service, I never got a call back.

This is what I expect from Mavis: Refund of $123.90 for an unnecessary part and programming. Payment of $120 for parts, labor and tax for Toyota to replace my wheel locks because you lost my key. Payment of $30 for the fixing of the leaking tire while on my car (which Mavis neglected to fix in the first place). No charge to me for removal of the tire from the wheel to remove whatever is inside, re-balance and replace on car. Total payment due me: $173.90.

The code from the invoice indicate they had installed discontinued tires! The formerly clean rims were filthy and covered with a tar like substance. The tire pressures were uneven and off by more than 7 psi from manufacturers specs leading to triggering a tire pressure warning light after driving five miles. I deflated one tire by seven pounds and was then on my merry way never to return to Mavis.

Got two tires and an alignment at Mavis today and now it won’t drive straight. I think they messed it up with the alignment but I don’t know and neither do they and they can’t fix it. Don’t ever use Mavis. Now I’m stuck with a car that has to be steered to the left constantly. They had even left a lug nut off. It took. 2.5 hrs to get two tires and an alignment and I was charged $578, much more than other places would have been. Now my car pulls severely to the right and is very difficult to drive because now I have keep the wheel turned left to go straight, essentially they have destroyed my car. Horrible. Do not take you car here.

Also I checked before leaving and there was a lug it missing and they replaced after telling them about it but very scary service. Could have been have been worse. I’m not sure if I will ever be able to repair my car since they don’t know what is wrong. They made another attempt to align it but was it still isn’t fixed and they said their alignment machine is broken and may try again if I can bring it back in a few days. Was a quoted a 20% discount price, but after reviewing the bill I saw that I did not get the discount and my other options would have been cheaper and probably not have torn up my car.

He identified what was needed, and immediately set the staff to work with no delay. After a few minutes though I received a phone call to tell me that they would be able to save me hundreds of dollars by just repairing my current tire. Not only did I appreciate this cost cutting effort, but the courteousness and promptness of the entire staff was very, very impressive. They went above and beyond all expectations.

I do not live in Long Island, and may never see these guys again, but each of them impressed me in one way or another and I was extremely satisfied with their performance. I would gladly recommend this repair shop to anyone I know. Steve, Keith and Joe all made a special effort to help me with any questions I had for them and went above and beyond the call of duty. This type of special treatment has been lost in today's world and it is amazing how truly important it is for putting your mind at ease.

I spoke to the person who did the order and they were very nice. They were kind enough to allow me to leave it there overnight, and I picked it up the next morning. The next morning, the car was already done from the evening before. I just went in and paid them, and picked up the car. The only thing that surprised me was how much it costs to fix a flat tire these days, which I haven’t done it in a while. Still, if anybody has a problem, I would send them there.

In the fall of 2018 I hit a pothole that resulted in a broken rim. I purchased a rim and had Mavis replace mount a new tire. They also aligned the tires. In November I returned to the Mavis shop to ask for help with my car. My complaint was that my car was swerving. I also asked for winter tires. They said they had none, so I bought all season radials. I returned to the shop in January because again the car was swerving (fishtailing). They said the tires needed to be replaced. They blamed the wear on the shocks and sold me two new tires.

In April they inspected my car and replaced 2 tires. On April 30th I realized the rear tires were completely bald. When I called the regional manager he offered me two tires to replace the rear tires (cheaper tires). They sent me to a different shop to have them installed. The mechanics said there was nothing wrong with the tires, it was my rear end. So, I made an appointment with a body shop. They found that the car needed to be aligned. The very tire that was blown out was still out of alignment. I got it aligned and there has been no uneven or damage to the tires. It has been 1 month and I am watching for excessive wear. This Mavis says they do 4 wheel alignment, except my car of course.

I've purchased tires from Mavis in the past. But this last one wasn’t the best experience. My car was there for six days. I came to them with a noise on the right side of my car. The gentleman came out and looked at it. He said that the two side tires on my SUV were all worn. I asked him what would cause that. He said that it could be a couple of things and asked to get it inside so they could look at it. This was at 11:45 on a Wednesday. About an hour later, they figured it was the calipers. I asked them to replace both calipers on the front first and we would put tires on them. Then later on they said they were having trouble bleeding the break lines and they would have to keep it overnight. So, consequently, my wife came and got me. We only live in the next town over.

I called back the next day, Thursday, and they said that they still got problems. Then on Friday, the answer I got was that they thought that they should take it to a dealership and let them look at it because they couldn't bleed the brake lines. I told them to do that and they said that they would pay for it since they made a mistake, there was obviously a problem. The district manager even called me and said that they were gonna make this right for me and take care of it. Also, it was the Memorial Day Weekend and I didn't have a vehicle. They offered to lend me a car, but I told them that I could borrow a car from a friend or family member instead, which we did. Then Sunday comes and nothing, and Monday was the holiday and they weren’t in.

On Tuesday morning, I got a phone call from Mavis asking where we wanted us to tow. They couldn’t get it done. I thought they were gonna talk to the dealership, but the whole answer completely changed. I told them to tow it to the Gillespie Chevrolet. They’ve done work on it before. I also had to go in and pay the bill before they would tow it. The bill was roughly $1,000.

The car didn’t come into Mavis leaking, but they towed it out there leaking and with all the lights on. I called Gillespie and they said they said that they just brought it in and that it was a master cylinder problem. They could try to bleed the brakes but if I didn’t want to, they could blow the seal. The problem was that there was a seal blowing, which was a $400 fix that I paid for. The guy also said that the ABS lights and fog lights were on but it was okay to drive. I drove off for a couple days and I brought it back to Gillespie’s. They said that there was a modular unit, which was basically like a little computer box that would make everything communicate and make sure that all four brakes brake at the same time. The part was $1,000.

I called the 800 number and their rep said that they would look into the complaint. Two days later, the manager from the Albany store called me. I told him that my car left their garage with all the brake lights on, the seat belt and trunk lights on, the ABS lights on, and leaking. I paid Mavis money, paid Chevrolet roughly $1,500, and I had to rent a car when my car was there. The manager offered a $100 gift card and said that it was the best that he could do. They should've taken care of this bill from Gillespie. So I told him that I would see them in court because that was where this would be heading. I’ve sat with my attorney and gave him all this stuff.

I purchased a set of General HTS Grabber Tires on May 4, 2019. I was quoted three different prices by the location, their call center and online. When I went for the install the price was substantially higher than what I was quoted. They were able to chop down the price (conveniently....) I declined the extended warranty because I have never had an issue with tires in the past. I reported this to the BBB and was informed I would receive a response for their regional manager, I never did.

It has been a month since I purchased the tires and I have a bubble on the sidewall of my passenger side front. I contacted the location to inform them of the issue, and they immediately said that because I didn't purchase the warranty I would have to pay out of pocket. Regardless of that fact, the tires are a month old, I did not hit any severe bumps or potholes, so it has to be a factory defect.

Being unsatisfied with this response, I contacted the corporate office. They were very kind and informed me I should go during the week to have this taken care of (the warranty department only works M-F). The woman I spoke with contacted the location I chose to have this checked out, told me to go the next day to have the tire inspected for the cause of the damage, and to have the tire replaced. I contacted the location via the # listed on the website (a call center, not the actual store, apparently...) and they told me I was all set.

I drove 2 hours in rush hour traffic to get to this location for my appointment to find out 1) I wasn't in the system at all and 2) They did not have that tire in stock and it had to be special ordered. At this point I was ready to lose my mind, but it wasn't the store manager's fault because I never spoke to him directly. After I left, I contacted customer service again, and they confirmed no information about my previous complaint was on file. This time I had a formal complaint written up, with a complaint #, and it was escalated to the Regional Training manager Tom **. I am still waiting his call... Shame on you Mavis. I will never use your company again. Your annual revenue is estimated at 20 million and you want to charge me an additional $120 for my replacement tire after I shelled out $750 for the original set. Not going to happen.

I bought my tires from Mavis and I would never go back!! I asked for a mid-grade tire since I have a lot of miles on my car. They sold me a cheap low grade tire and charged me more than they originally quoted me for a mid grade tire. Of course I questioned it but they gave me some spill. I am a single mom on a budget. When I left Mavis my car was not balanced. It felt like it was bouncing down the road. I had to go back to them the next day, the tires had not been balanced. Also, the tires make a lot of noise. I have bought a lot of tires over the years and I never had any "sing" like these do. I had a tire professional look at them and he just shook his head and said they are cheap low grade tires. Don't go to Mavis Discount Tires unless you want to pay a lot of money for a LOW quality product. They are only after the bottom line, they do not care about selling quality!!

He’s in my neighborhood and he is fantastic. You don't have to wait long and if you arrive an hour late, one of the service people would call you and say that your car is ready. They’re very cordial and nice. The whole staff is excellent. Two weeks ago, I took my car there for inspection for a new tire because the air symbol came on. They put some air in it and the symbol went away.

I called on Friday afternoon and was told they had my size/brand of tires. I was only purchasing 2 tires for the back. I said I would be there on Monday and was told that would be great and I did not need an appointment. When I arrived I was told it would be about an hour because they were short handed. I said ok and I would wait since I had no way to go anywhere. My husband, who is legally blind, was with me. We went back in the waiting room and sit down to wait. I noticed about an hour later I had missed a call. I called it back and it was man out front asking where I was because he didn't know what brand. Why did he call when I said I would not be going anywhere? Where did he think I went? He said he was getting it shortly cause I was next in line.

We continued to wait. After another hour I went and asked how much longer because it has been 2 hours. After 3 hours of waiting I went back and my car was still sitting where I parked and had not been moved. I told him I wanted the keys and I was leaving. Three hours of my time was enough. There was another gentleman there at this time and he said he would go install them his self if I would give them another chance. I agreed and let him. He was very nice and seemed sincere and he got right on it. He was wearing a white shirt so I think maybe he was the manager.

Finally after 4 hours we left but Richard did give me a discount and popped the hood and TOPPED off the washer fluid, antifreeze, and oil at no charge. I don't know if I will go back again or not. Mavis had just bought out the previous owners. Don't know what happened to all their employees but I know one they need to do something with. If he wasn't answering the phone he had his note pad running outside like he was checking on something trying to look like he was so busy.

I brought my 2009 Acura MDX in for a wheel alignment and when I picked it up I asked for the spec print out to see where the car was adjusted. I was told that the shop doesn't have a printer. Then I asked if he applied the $10.00 promotion to the price. He rang up on the register. He told me that the $10.00 promotion was only good if I had purchased tires in addition to the wheel alignment service.

I called Mavis customer service when I got home and was told the promotion was for the wheel alignment service and had nothing to do with tires. The manager LIED to me and now I am not confident that the work was completed. I have never had a problem with this location however I would be suspect about ANYTHING this manager says. Tow truck driver said, "This should not have happened" and indicated that if the lug nuts were properly on the tire, it would not have happened. On the bill from the inspection, at the bottom, in red - it indicates that you have to bring the car back within 25 miles to check the lug nuts. In our 30+years of driving, we have NEVER heard that after brake work or inspection, you have to take it back. Even with the extra lubrication, my brakes continued to squeak and I went back and was told that the brake pads they installed were a cheaper quality and that could be the cause of them squeaking so I upgraded to better quality brake pads and my brakes squeaked more than before. So today I went back to Mavis Tires in Northport and before I was able to receive help there was a man before me that was upset because he had been waiting for 3 hours to get 4 tires on his Honda and the servicewoman was completely rude and nasty to him and when he was walking back to the waiting area she rolled her eyes at him.

I immediately asked for Scott the manager because he was the man who had helped me the two previous times before and based on the service woman's attitude she would be no help whatsoever. When I spoke to him I demanded a refund because clearly they do not know what they are doing and my brakes should not be squeaking whatsoever.

Scott the manager chuckled when I asked for a refund and said that he would not give me one and insisted that there must be something else wrong with my car if it is still squeaking. But there is nothing wrong with my car but the service they provided. He asked me to leave my car overnight or on Monday but I refused because they do not know how to work on a car and I refuse for them to do any more work on my car and mess it up more. He gave me the corporate office number and I have called and I am able to get more help with the corporate office than with this store. I reported the theft of credit cards from my glove compartment to the police but all employees denied it. After a thorough investigation nothing was resolved. By the way, my glove box was locked when I brought the car in for service.

Original: I purchased two tires and had them mounted while I waited. I also got the standard sales pitch that my struts were leaking and needed to be replaced for around $800.00. Needless to say I did not fall for their pitch however while I was back in the waiting room, they went through my locked glove box and stole $1800.00 worth of gift cards that I was keeping here. My fault for thinking they would be safe in my locked glove box.

Unfortunately the key was with my ignition key on my key ring in the ignition. I did not know they were missing for over a week and when I went to get them, they were gone. Nobody else uses my car and I left it no place other than my garage over the next week. No use going back to the tire store where they were stolen because I have no proof. I have filed a police report with the police in the town where the store is located, Whitehall, PA and they will investigate. I'm hoping there may have been surveillance cameras working at the time my vehicle was being worked on.

Not only that but the alternative model tires were not available upon arrival despite the lead time we gave directly to the MANAGER.

The icing on the cake came when my son presented the $600 gift certificate I had purchased directly from Mavis it was REFUSED AS PAYMENT. Now we have installed tires and have to scramble to find alternative means to pay for this? I am extremely unsatisfied with the service I have received at Mavis discount tires in Jackson New Jersey. I took in my 2007 Subaru Impreza to Mavis because the location is very close to my residence and my heat was working on and off. It would blow cool and sometimes hot air and then when I was driving to work I noticed my thermostat went all the way up to the H so it was starting to overheat. I had basically no coolant left in my car so we added coolant to it. I drove it to Mavis and they told me that I needed a whole new radiator because they couldn’t get the cap back on so it must’ve been leaking from the cap so I paid $600 for a new radiator.

When they were finished with my car I picked it up and then later on that da. To my surprise while I was driving it my check engine light came on and this is the first time My check engine light has ever come on since I’ve owned the car for the past 10 years. I took the car back the following morning and they told me it could be either the head gasket or I might just need a tuneup and new coils because cylinder three was misfiring. The mechanic said well if it is the head gasket then I might as well just start looking for another car. I said, "Well check and make sure it’s not the head gasket because if it is the head gasket then there’s no point of me getting the tuneup and the coils replaced". So he tested it and advised me it was not the head gasket so I went ahead with the service which cost me another $540.

Well two of the three days later my check engine light comes back on again and on top of that my car is still running HOT on and off so I paid over $1100 and I still have the same exact issues I had before I brought the car in. So now he’s telling me it probably is the head gasket and I said, "Well then I need my money back because you told me wasn’t a head gasket" and they said they can’t give me my money back. They have to contact the regional manager first and then regional manager would get back to me. Well it’s been three days now and no one has gotten back to me. So now not only am I out $1100 but I have a car that doesn’t work!!!

I wasn't overly alarmed I figured it would reset, fast forward to the next morning: The light is still illuminated and when I drive it on the highway the DSC light illuminates (dynamic stability control) and my vehicle starts to decelerate. I basically have no control. I call Mavis and tell them my issue and was told by Allan to bring my vehicle in.

After reading a bit more information I find out that the cause of the DSC light is because thinks I am in an off-road situation and it cuts off power to the engine and the car doesn't accelerate i.e.: unsafe to drive! I call the Mavis location express my concern they suggest that I have my car towed to a different location. I oblige only for them to tell me that they are getting a code for the rear left tire. That is the tire that they replaced! Might I add no lights were illuminated prior to me towing my car there yet they tell me they are not responsible.

I then refer back to a conversation and my receipt saying that my car was fine upon them getting it. I then say to the manager Derrick, "You guys are a professional business correct?" He assures me that they are so I then say well if these lights were illuminated at the time I brought my car to you wouldn't you have told me as a customer? We all know the answer to that question is yes because they would have wanted me to have it repaired there. Well that question stumped Derrick because the light were in fact not on before they worked on it. Derrick then told me he would speak to the district manager.

After 3 hours and me calling the district manager Shayne ** I hadn't received a call back. I then called Mr. ** again and he was well aware of my complaint but hadn't returned my call. Mavis and myself all agree that the rear left wheel is what's causing this issue but they refuse to take ownership of it, they would like me to believe that this is coincidence that the tire that they changed is also the same tire that's going the error message. Now, here we are one hour and 45 minutes before closing time and I still have not heard back from anyone at Mavis. Shame on Mavis Tire! I will be contacting the BBB and perhaps an attorney.

After the oil change, when I took for a drive, we noticed the check engine light flashed in the dashboard. We took it back to Mavis Tires, the person in the desk connected some meter to diagnose. He said he couldn't identify the problem. He reset the dashboard setting to remove the check engine light, if it came again, to contact him. In a mile drive it came back, we called Mavis, Mavis was generous enough to run the diagnostic tool with a discount (because the issue was because of their oil change).

We already lost hope on these guys, we took to the Chevy certified service center with an appointment, and issue was resolved in 30 minutes with the cost of 60 dollars + tax. The reason for the check engine light was because of the not closing the engine oil cap properly and hence that created a vacuum. We went back to Mavis (this is the third time), now the person in the desk said he can't handle this, only his manager can. We should come on some other day as the manager was out of station. We asked him to call us once he is back. The Manager will be busy and he may not call was the answer we got from the gentlemen. After a couple of days we went to the Mavis, we gave our documents to the manager, he collected and made a photocopy of it and said he cannot handle this and only his manager can and will forward the issue to head office. I only go here for tires when I get a flat. I have a premium Ford warranty on my vehicle. I last minute stopped in for brakes in a Sunday when it was only day I’d have time. I drive away with a grinding howling feel and sound. I went back and was told it will adjust in a week or two. I’m 41 and have owned many cars and know this wasn’t normal. Finally I go back and they hear and feel it too. They replace the brake pads they just installed and said they were defective. The sound etc was still there. I went back next day and they replaced the new routers they had just out in and said they were also defective. So I was sent away the first time and had to go back two more times that month after driving my kids around with defective brakes.

Now I was also told I needed new bushings and tie rod and was quoted $800. When I got there I was then told I needed new struts too. All together over $1000-$1500 or so work. (Now I’ve notice other reviews here are also saying they were told they needed new struts or other work that wasn’t needed). So I take to my friend's shop to check out. He confirms I do NOT need new struts or bushings but I should have tie rod ends replaced looked at. So I take it to local Ford dealer as I have a premium extended warranty with $100 deductible. I asked them to check front suspension. Struts and bushing again just be sure. Ford also confirmed that I did NOT need struts or bushings. I did need tie rod ends. Then it was found a new steering rack and sway bar links were needed.

I send Mavis a FB message and called the number they gave me and reported it. Their regional manager tried to reach me but we played phone tag. During this time, the other I car I took for an oil change misfired (front two cylinders closest to oil). My usual mechanic said whoever did the last oil changed drop oil on oil valve and it seeped in and onto coils resulting into oil fouling, which In turn caused the car to misfire. I replaced the spark plugs and coils.

I then spoke with the regional jerk manager who right off the bat was more concerned with correcting a statement I made about not needing new struts than focusing on the fact that it was confirmed by not one but two other automotive garages that I didn’t need the work done that Mavis said did. One was the Ford dealer. I then moved onto the oil issue to which he told me is not true and oil fouling can’t happen to coils and if it’s true and I had friends who were mechanics ... Insult insult insult... I said, "Well since you’re being rude and ignorant I can see this isn’t going anywhere and you're of no help" and hung up.

I called the Customer service line and filed a third complaint now about the regional manager. I was told I can elevate my complaint to the Director but no restitutions would be for the sparks plugs and coils that needed replacing due to oil spilling. First of all I isn’t ask for anything free. I want them to take responsibility for false quotes and tells their branch to be more careful and to report the defective brake pads and routers I had installed and was told to go home and drive around with for a month.

I regret the original survey I replied to giving good feedback about the nice kid who worked there because that’s about they have going for them. I’m glad I trusted my instinct and wasn’t the scared blonde haired woman they thought I was and took my car for not only but two other opinions before dropping that kind of money with this company. Also, I just found out my parents' friends knew two people who quit this place because the changing of hands from STS tires to Mavis tires was dissatisfying and they didn’t want to work for the company Any longer. As well as a man who came to work at my department who had previously been employed for 20 years with STS. That says something in itself that locally three different people have quit working for this company for reasons like I’m reporting as well as their own.

Didn't get more than two miles down the road. Had squealing noise coming from the rear of the truck. Took truck back. Mechanic stated he could find out where noise was coming. So I basically paid over $600.00 to have the install a sweeping noise on the truck. This was Mavis in Geneva N.Y. The manager basically told me it's my problem now. Called the call center. They sent me to the Canadaguia N.Y. store. They claimed it might be the wheel bearings. NOT. I will not recommend Mavis at all. Paid $600.00 for squealing. Once you pay it's your problem. They don't offer any help on resolving issue.

Leading me to believe the right one was never replaced on 01/09/19. I brought this up to the shop and miraculously they could not find any information on the job performed on my vehicle. But they had my vehicle information and my name in the system. Well to put more of a bitter taste in my mouth when they finished replacing the right headlight which I am sure the $111.73 covered back on 01/09/19. I was charged $33.52 for the service provided. In February I call the call Mavis call service for an appt. for brakes and rotors on my Mazda CX-5. Not an assessment but to get it fixed. The person at the Geneseo Mavis place calls me the same day to confirm my appt. I made with the call center. We talk and it is all set. I come in 3 days later to get it fixed and after an hour wait, they tell me after taking the tires off that they can't do the job tonight because they don't have the parts. Why the heck did they tell me to come in and waste my time. I talk to the manager Tom ** and he tells me sorry and come in next week anytime and he will have the parts and will get it done. I tell him I will come in next Tuesday, at 5.15 pm to get it done. He says sorry again.

I call on early on Tuesday and have to cancel due to an ice storm and reschedule for the next day on Wed at 5.15 pm. I come in and they said I never talked to anyone there but it was the call center. The person at the call center said I was talking to the staff located at the Geneseo store so I thought I was talking to the actual store. Very misleading and disconnect. Today on Wed when I came into Mavis at Geneseo for my appt. the staff Hanna was very inconsiderate and bothered by me that I came in and said I had an appt. today to get my car fixed for brakes and rotors. She said she couldn't do this and they did not have enough time to do it. Ridiculous!!! This place sucks. Poor customer service and they lied about how they can help.

The manager said it was no problem to get me in and I could get it fixed any time. Clearly a lie because his other staff clearly did not think they could do it. I even told the manager previously that I can go anywhere to get this done so I expect better service. Well, unfortunately I did not get better service but more excuses. No compensation or any good customer service to keep me as a customer. So I went to Monroe and they took good care of me. It would be great if they, Mavis, actually contacted me to earn my business but I know they do not care. When you think car maintenance do not think Mavis. Very disappointed. What a waste of time.

A few of the staff where I work recommended the Mavis shop in the town where we were ok rked, saying they were a nice shop to deal with. Since they were open on a Sunday, it made it convenient, plus it was a day I was able to have someone drive me to work and back for my car. I also figured a muffler is a basic repair or replacement, that I didn't not require the dealership to do the work, of which my quote of $460 was rebuffed by me.

TALK ABOUT PRICE GOUGING!! Mavis quoted me $550.00! Because I am female? I rebuffed them and a $125 discount was offered. Still know in I was being overcharged, I did it because my inspection is due this same month and had no foreseeable opportunity to get help with my transportation. Being highly annoyed by my transaction, I used my lunch to see if I could find an average price for the same work online. I found from multiple auto repair Q & A sites that I was being charged at least $100 over the high end price for my 2011 Honda Civic.

Isn't price gouging illegal? Isn't unfair practices like trying to overcharge a woman because they believe they don't know better? Were I not in a situation where I needed to take advantage of the convenience I presently had available, I would have picked up my car and left knowing I was being overcharged even with the discount. But to find they were overcharging me more than $200 with their original quote to start with is obscene. I am telling, or reporting this to every entity and person I find available to me. And people say the dealerships are crooks?! I stated all this at their shop. What a line of garbage the service representative tried to make me believe! And they claim I did get Honda certified parts. Somehow I doubt it. Nice to know I apparently have money to spare and didn't need to borrow some of it to get this work done. Never again.

The Gasket on the oil filter got crimped cross-threaded upon installation and was blowing oil. So, several hours of my life I'll never get back, 2 oil stains to clean and an engine compartment covered in oil. I'll have to pay to have all that cleaned from their lack of quality control. He knowingly lied in the presence of, and complicit with, a manager about the specifications of the tires I had installed and the brand of the shocks and struts they installed. My attempts to inform the corporate office of his deceptiveness were unsuccessful, as no one bothered to call me back. They took over 5 hours to install tires, struts, and shocks. The struts were not adequately tightened and I had to have that done after having driven to Florida. While there, I listened to the man behind the counter as he talked to other customers.

One man, He counseled to return to his dealership to have a certain repair done because it was still under warranty and it would cost him LESS. Another customer was treated just as valuable and respectfully. As for me, He told me that my brakes & tires were fine, just some brake dust making the noise and tires just needed some air. The mechanic who looked at my vehicle was also just as nice. This is a good shop!!! These are honest people who hold ethics in a high place. They have earned the respect of their customers.

Our car was having a charging problem, and was making noises that suggested to me the alternator was failing. Since I couldn't be sure the car would make it all the way to our usual repair shop, I figured I should try the local Mavis since it was only a couple miles away. I had thought "hey, it's been almost three years since we last went there, they might have improved." How wrong I was. Dropped the car off first thing in the morning, waited for them to call back with a diagnosis and estimate. Towards the end of the day, I finally had to call *THEM* back, and they said "yes, it's the alternator, we can't fix it." Seriously? A repair shop, and they can't change an alternator? And they can't even be bothered to call us and tell us this? Limped the car to our regular shop, and it was done and ready in half a day.

We had actually stopped going to our local Mavis Tire because of multiple occasions that they showed just how incapable and/or corrupt the place is. For example, some three years back my brother had needed an alignment done on his truck. He had originally gone to the Mavis in Yorktown NY, and he asked for a before-and-after printout to see how much had to be fixed. They said "oh, the printer is broken." Shortly afterward, he found it still wasn't right, so we brought it to the Pawling NY shop.

When he asked for a before-and-after printout from them, wouldn't you know they gave the *exact same* excuse about the printer being broken! What are the chances? Mind you, my brother had been an automotive tech for longer than most of the tech working there, and the service managers *knew* this fact. If they think they can get away with such bald-faced lies with someone they *know* is experienced in the business, just how much more do you think they're scamming the general public?

About 30 minutes after dropping of my car they called and said that I needed new tires and to have my suspension completely replaced front and rear. This was all to the tune of only $1800 (because they were running a sale!).

Initially, I told them to go ahead with the work since the car has almost 100K on the odometer. I’ve started supporting Mavis tires since they opened a location in the nearby shopping center 2 years ago. Previously we trusted the Tire Corral company in our town. They are great but their location was much further from our home. In the past 2 years we’ve purchased 14 tires for 4 of our vehicles. This past September I had 2 front tires replaced on 1 of my cars. I suffered a flat on one over the weekend. The lug nuts were so tight I literally bent the factory issued lug wrench trying to loosen them. I was unable to remove the tire to change to my spare. I called them and they were just closing at the time, however the associate I spoke with informed me that they would check the torque on them before replacing it. I had to have the car towed to their location.

To that point. When I went back to get a resolution. The associate went out to my car with a large socket wrench. When I asked about him checking the torque strength he stated that they use a specific tool for each model car when they replace tires, and that they couldn’t check the torque when removing the lug nuts. So I asked, "Was the associate that told me otherwise lying." He stated that he was probably confused. Anyway it took him considerable effort to loosen the nuts, & 1 of them was so tight he said they would have to use the power tool to remove it because the metal nut swelled.

So with all this, I was told that all their mechanics perform their jobs by the book, there’s no way that they can make a mistake. They generously gave me 1 lug nut free of charge. And as the tire isn't on a discount promotion at this time, they offered to replace it for the same price I paid in September. We will be taking our business back to the Tire Corral in Blackwood.

We went up to the desk and said we were here to have new tires installed and the man immediately said "not today" and then I went on explain I have an appointment and he said, "Looked it up" and did state my daughter's name so you know the info was in the system. He then showed us tires and we picked the tires and he went on but cannot install them today.

And I stated, "But I have an appointment" and he said so did everyone else there. I was like, "Excuse me but what does that have to do with the fact I have an appointment." I told him I made the appointment online and have the confirmation and the other guy there then said, "We cannot manage the appointments made online." I was like, "Well then why is that an option."

However, my daughter had called the day before and spoke to someone and explained she had appointment for tires and could she add an oil change and it was added and nothing was said at that time that they could not keep that appointment. The other guy as I kept arguing I had an appointment and expected to have the tires installed then stated you can sit here and wait but probably not going to happen.

The thing that bothered me the most I feel is that they kept stating not going to happen today and when I said I have an appointment their rude response was not going to happen today and everyone here had a appointment too. Well apparently you have a problem. There was no empathy to my situation that I had an appointment and had the printed confirmation and that my daughter had called the day before and spoke to someone to add the oil change. All I got was not going to happen today.

The whole issue could have been handled differently and perhaps could have offered another appointment and perhaps given a discount or free oil change for my inconvenience which was clearly an issue on their part. I think that their corporate office should send out some "secret shoppers" to go and see how rude and ignorant their workers representing their company are. They say word of mouth can be your best advertising OR YOUR WORSE. Guess it will be their worse as I will be sharing my story with everyone I know.

On the 5th of Aug, 2018 I stopped by at Mavis Tire Shrewsbury, NJ after the car had stalled on the FDR drive in New York to have Mavis Tire of Shrewsbury check into the issue. They said, (Dominic and Ken) I needed a new “cam” and it would cost $438.00 and added it would take 2 hours and 20 minutes to do the job. I told them I would be back on the following day, I had to drop someone off in Newark.

On Monday the 6th I drove to Newark NJ and brought the car back into Mavis Tire Shrewsbury, NJ to have the cam put in. At that time Dominic and Ken said that while they were in that area of the car I should also get a new water pump and a new timing belt. They said it would cost 6 hundred and change, after some negotiation they agreed to do the work for $525.00. I had asked them if I would be better off just trading the car in. They said there was no reason to trade the car in, Honda Civic is a good motor, they added it would be good for another 200,000 miles. I gave them the car and keys then waited. They were aware I drove for a living and the car is essential to that end.

I sat there that day and the 2 hour and 20 minute job went all day and I was told the timing belt was put in backwards… (Putting a timing belt in backwards is impossible.) The mechanic that was working on the car had his father kindly take me home and mentioned that tomorrow the car would be done. I arrived at Mavis on the 7th of Aug. about 10AM. The car was still up and I ended up getting a new story about problem with a spring missing from the parts they order and a new one was coming in! The part arrived and still there were problems… I left there late in the day. Oil was everywhere under the car.

The 8th I called and was told that parts were ordered and coming in and to call back around 11AM. I would follow up each day sometimes twice when I was asked to. Every time I called I got a new story and new parts were coming… Finally, Pauli the manager, told me that the mechanic blew the engine by applying too much pressure to the oil and the head gasket was blown and oil went into the 3 cylinder. Pauli told me at one point the new head arrived then later it was the wrong one and another was coming in the next day. When it came in it was the wrong size. Later, they did manage to get the car running but it was missing. Now it has been near 3 weeks I have not been able to work because my car is not fixed and I am still getting stories when I call or stop by.

On Aug. 24th I called, Mavis Tire Shrewsbury, NJ, spoke with Ken first. I expressed that I no longer want to speak with him, he never lives up to his word and from what I can tell he is used to put customers off. I told Ken that I want to speak direct with Pauli. Pauli of Mavis Tire Shrewsbury, NJ gave me a new story about a lot of parts for the head that is on order and still nothing has been done! He said to call back at 5 PM Saturday, I did and was told the parts came in and the head was being sent out to someone else to repair. Pauli added that the head would be back Monday at 10 AM and the car will be reassembled and I would have my car “as is” a clear signal that it will not be made right.

I question that the car will actually be brought back to ever ride the way it did before bringing it to Mavis Tire Shrewsbury NJ. After this amount of time it seems very clear that Mavis Tire Shrewsbury, NJ destroyed my car and it is clearly beyond their ability to repair! Well the car was not done. I spoke with Dominic the only one there that is straightforward and takes ownership for mistakes. He said the head would be arriving late in the day. I stopped by the store about 5 pm Pauli said the head was in and I would have the car back Tuesday by noon. Pauli, told me the 3 different stories as I stood in front of him. This prompted me to file a complaint with Better Business. I have no trust in anything Pauli says.

One evening Pauli called me and said the car was purring like a kitten, I was surprised. He said to come in tomorrow to take it and we would speak later in the week. I went in and Dominic was there saying "Hey Bob, let's take the car for a test drive." We both got into the car and I went to start it... It took three tries before the car would turn over! I stepped on the gas and the car hardly moved. Stepped on the gas a bit more and the car moved forward slowly. Dominic, was completely embarrassed and said "Stop, Please just stop the car. I would never let a car out in this condition!"

I have been told 7 different stories about the head. 3 stories about the timing belt parts. I was told Pauli was in the shop when he was standing right next to Ted, typical put off… I was told I would get a callback several days and not once did I receive a callback. Lots of stories and NO action. I have never seen such an unprofessional group. The car is a 2003 Honda Civic. It had 77 thousand miles on it when I purchased it. It had about 113,000 miles. I installed new shocks, brakes, air conditioner, and much more.

During each repair I was told what a great car it is. I have lost $750.00 per average week X 3 weeks and a $1900 sign up bonus with Uber. I had to use taxis ($20.00), and rented a car ($94.10 x 2 plus 93.49) to take care of necessities while I was being fed stories from this branch of Mavis Tire. I want to be made whole with a replacement Honda Civic with like mileage in good running order 2003 or newer plus reimbursed for my losses. And these folks offer me 500 dollars for breaking the car! I told them no! I don't wish to take this further but...

After waiting for 2 hours, the attendant tells me I needed rear brakes as well and that he had to order the pads because he didn’t have them in stock. That’s fine I replied. He told me they had just arrived, however 20 minutes later I see the C&M Auto Parts driver pull in to deliver the parts. After waiting for another hour and a half he comes back out and states that he didn’t like the way they fit so he called and ordered more. 30 mins. Later he comes back out and states that I’ll be done momentarily. Another 30 mins. Passes and I go out to look at my truck only to see that both rear tires are still off. I’ve now been here for 4 hours for a simple brake and rotor job. Never again will I come to this location. By the way the site manager's name is Eugene, who also happens to be very short tempered.

He gave me a price of $300.00 for the whole job. I agreed to this. After the job was done I now have a price of $706.04 W.T.F. I told him before the job was done, three times what I wanted and he still said $300.00.

Now after the work was completed he says it was $300.00 for the front and $300.00 for the rear. That's not what he told me in the beginning. It's a whole new story now! I feel I was cheated. If I knew it was going to be over $700.00 I would have gone to my mechanic. He would have charged me under $400.00. I should have had him write me the estimate before he started but he seemed to be a down to earth kind of guy but I was wrong! I feel I was lied to and am not happy about this. She told them she'd need to talk to me about it. When I showed up -- SURPRISE -- the power steering service was never mentioned. They gave me the hard sell on the new serpentine belt and I caved against my better judgment. I wish I hadn't, considering they had just tried to scam my wife into buying unnecessary service. They used synthetic oil on the oil change which I didn't ask for, and added an additional 14 dollars labor(?).

How does a regular oil change come to eighty-five dollars? It does when Mavis thinks a woman dropped the car off and they can also add on power steering service that isn't needed. They didn't even reset the Check Oil light, and lied to me and said that they did. I had to reset it myself so they cheat men, too. They just cheat women worse. They are slimy and take advantage of paying customers. At least now I've learned to avoid Mavis Discount Tire at all costs. Push your car somewhere else. Especially if you're a woman. Here is the story about last three visits (from June to August, 2018) at Mavis Tire, Riverside, Connecticut store: I needed to change all of my BMW 535i run flat tires. I wanted all season tires instead of summer or winter tires. I later found out that they put new summer tires. When I asked why, they said that they couldn’t get all season tires. When I asked why they did not ask me before replacing tires, they had no answer and they did not even apologize for their mistake. I wanted to have that fixed and their answer was there is nothing they can do now. Unbelievable!! I changed my brake pads & rotors for the same car, BMW 535i, with them. I noticed car was shaking when applying the brakes. I took the car back to them for fixing and they seem to have fixed it. The problem is back again after another 800 miles of driving the car. Not sure how many times I have to bring the car back to them.

My mistake to go to them again for changing my Lexus IS250 brake pads and rotors for front and rear. After I got my car back, I noticed that there was smoke coming out of left rear tire. I took the car to them and their standard answer was that this happens for first few miles. When the smoke did not stop, I took the car back to them. They had to fix the brake issue to have smoke go away. After about couple of hundred more miles, we find that the car is driving heavy and braking action is weak. I asked them what is wrong with the brake and what is the quality of brake pads/rotors have they used. The standard answer is that this happens a lot with any moving parts. Not sure, if there is possibility of legal case against them for exposing people to dangers when they do this kind of lousy brake jobs. My recommendation, if you care for your car and safety, stay away from them.

I called for an appointment with Mavis in Carmel, NY on Tuesday July 31st, 2018 to schedule an inspection for my car on Thursday 8/2/18 at 6:00pm (as Mavis is open late on Thursdays). I indicated I would be waiting for my car and was told that was no problem. This call was meant to set up a time/appointment to have my car attended to. When I got there on Thursday, there were many cars there and when I went to the counter I was told I may wait for my car as late as closing time at 8:30pm. (2 1/2 hours for an inspection that I called ahead for.) I decided not to wait and asked if I can schedule for earliest appointment on Saturday morning (8/4/18). I was told to get there at 7:45am. When I arrived a few minutes before 7:45am, there were many cars in the parking lot. Some of which there were people waiting (it was pouring rain) and some cars were empty.

There was a man standing at the door (waiting for the doors to open at 8am), with an umbrella. So I took my umbrella and stood with him in front of the door waiting to enter. When Mavis opened the door at 8:00am, the man and I entered first. This caused people to start yelling and fighting with each other. I feared it was very close to becoming "physical" and that someone would get hurt. There were a bunch of Mavis customers arguing over who should come first, people who were there waiting in their cars since 7:15am or the first people at the door with their umbrellas. This was a scary scene (I actually felt myself shaking in fear). The man who I'd been standing with outside the door went to the counter first and he took the brunt of the hostility from a few other men. I was next to go to the counter. One man calmly said to me "Miss, you also cut the line". I simply told the man, I have an appointment. I was not confronted again.

This all being said, Mavis needs to get their act together and not let customers have to decide who should go first. This is very irresponsible to run a business this way. Mavis needs to respect their customers better than this and keep scheduled appointments and have clear boundaries of what customers should expect. One idea for example is if Mavis is telling everyone to come in at 7:45am and it is first come first serve, then each car entering the parking lot should have to stop and take a ticket with their number on it. I think this would be a system everyone can understand and it would work well.

My husband left because he got activated with the military and he will be gone for at least the next 6 weeks so he told me to get the car fixed, said to tell them it’s the starter or solenoid, and to give the mechanic this information. I told Mavis this when I got there.

They looked at me like I was ridiculous to have given them this info (asked where I got it from) but still checked my car. In about 20 minutes they came to get me and told me the car is fine and that nothing was wrong. I told them well why is the car hesitating to start? The one guy told me to try starting it. And I did. The guy said it sounded fine-and had the manager agree. So I left because they were obviously no help. I went home to try to figure out where I should go next and when I went to start my car it wouldn’t turn on. It was completely dead. I had to get it towed and I called Mavis to see what they could do for me. They didn’t care so I towed it to Honda. What was wrong with it? The starter. Honda is replacing it for me right now. Scheduled a 10AM appointment for June 6th online and ordered tires. The tires didn't show up until 10:50 AM and then the Dansville, NY store said they could not install them because my RAM 3500 was too big. So I strapped the tires to my truck and drove to Geneseo where they installed the tires using a floor jack, which Dansville said they couldn't do... So, I wasted 2.5 hours and had to drive an additional 20 miles each way just to get my tires installed the old fashioned way. Not very happy with the wasted time, effort and fuel for a simple tire mount/balance/install... Contacted their customer service using their online form, and they closed the ticket without ever responding. I will never recommend or purchase from their company again.

The vehicle in question is a BMW 2004 Z4 3.0L 52,291 miles; 143 miles at time of brake system testing and replacement due to brake fluid contaminates from brake flush and installation of new brakes at Kauffman Tire, Clearwater DBA: Mavis Discount Tires. We took this vehicle in to replace ONLY the front struts due to ride height indifferences and left one being non-OEM along with replacing tires to SALE vehicle. We already had a secured buyer awaiting work to be completed. This vehicle was planned to be sold to pay for remodeling fees on house to put on market and move. ALL this has created collateral damage of a monetary value with absolutely NO relief in sight nor offered by Mavis.

Extensive vehicular body damages, overcharges, 31%+- parts mark-ups, parts charged but not installed, parts damaged by technician charged customer, service damages and more is the basis for this report’s investigative proceedings below but not all inclusive. ie. The entire report and pertinent documents can be located on FB in my ** page by 'searching' ** in FB. I'm a licensed professional consultant, David **, with over 45yrs directly involved - hands on, mind in - in everything that rolls, floats, flies, articulates and/or levitates. Employed in such commercially, militaristically and within my own small businesses providing directly related services.

I do possess multiple videos in evidence of damages and work done on vehicle afterwards to include the removal of the contaminated brake fluid and placement in sealed containers as well as during testing to ensure integrity of samples and testing methods. ALL components affected had to be replaced at owner’s expense. Ie. Master cylinder, all brake calipers, prematurely worn new front pads and front rotors due to brake binding, complete brake supply lines removal and extensive flushing. We gave them 3 opportunities to verify damages and repair to no avail.

I also have Power of Attorney of this vehicle owner, Barbara **, to handle any and all affairs for her; this client is also my life partner. My expertise and consultant entity was hired due to the extensive amount of investigative work to provide documents in evidence of all the damages incurred by Kauffman Tire. The initial charges at Kauffman are on hold, $2387.80; in dispute and Chase is luckily working with us as consumer victims. Insurance claim has been filed but with a $1000 deductible from a $2408.43 total settlement. Client is still left with lack of compensation to repair all damages incurred by Kauffman; as well as rims and brake system replacement from contamination of petroleum substance interjected in system during Kauffman’s brake flush. (143 miles on vehicle at the time of this testing. Seals will immediately swell once a contaminate comes into contact with it.)

Certain damages could NOT be claimed due to it being classified as ‘during’ service damage. Ie. Top, brake component replacement and rims. Kauffman refuses to forward any insurance forms for claims in complete denial they damaged vehicle or am responsible of other claims in this dispute. We have no remedy in sight after 42 days and will continue to pay damages out of pocket in addition to potentially being held responsible for the charges of service. Apr 20, 2018 initial service of vehicle to replace struts, we provided, and four new run flat tires purchased thru them with alignment and balance. After reading the factory manual of these vehicle purchased a year before I noted many items requiring inspection and replacement if worn. I also requested inspection of items in the strut for serviceability. Ie. The bumper stops.

Kauffman rep, Miles ** contacted Barbara ** and suggested replacing ALL rotors and brakes pads as well as informed her 2 extra hours of labor would be required because she did not bring in ‘quick struts’ - already assembled struts. (There is NO quick struts available for the Z4 only the M325 so that was another deception to overcharge the owner.) I was not available during the conversations so she, not knowing anything of vehicles, said okay. She waited until she could run the brake service by me a few minutes later.

She researched costs on brake service and noted there was an online running ad, good until Dec 31, 2018, stating $79.99 LABOR including brake special. She called back to release four brake pads and four new rotors under the impression she would get the same special. (Their work order plainly states the $54 per axle additional LABOR charges was for ‘brake pad’ replacement.)

Miles also stated when she called both brake sensors required replacement during brake service and one was damaged already. (There was NO brake light warning on when initially delivered; or we would have requested them to inspect and after acquiring the actual parts from Mavis two days later the front sensor tested okay and the rear sensor was NOT changed at all. This part was damaged during the strut removal.) Contacted us at 5:40 stating vehicle was ready for pick up. We were 25 minutes away but the clerk, Jason? Stated he would wait. Closed at 6:00pm. Arrived at 6:05pm. Miles ** was not there when we arrived.

The bill surprised us but there was no one to talk to about discrepancies of charges. Owner paid, not wanting to leave the vehicle outside as they said it would. They also indicated a re-alignment had to be done due to them NOT able to align it correctly; confirmed by the BMW technician they proclaimed was a BMW specialist certified to work on them. (He is neither certified nor qualified based upon the damages in incorrect work done. To wit: all self retaining nuts were NOT replaced nor was the damaged boots and bumper stops.) The owner made them write re-alignment down as included. The owner presumed she could simply take it up the next day with the manager and get a credit BEFORE the credit card was processed.

There was no inspection of the vehicle due to the simplicity of the service done. I was talking to her about dinner when she entered vehicle so the convertible top was not noticed. Apr 20, 2018 First inspection by David ** AFTER securing vehicle and owner driven home. There was the smell of burning rubber in the garage later which initiated the first inspection. We found car completely dirty and other damages immediately. To include the convertible top, rims damage, tire soap still on, front fender scratched and completely saturated with grease or what looked to be brake fluid.

Luckily we had car completely coated with an impenetrable ceramic type coating at Reeders Details not long before. Apr 21, 2018. After inspecting the vehicle further I jacked up the vehicle to gain access to see the struts installation. Noting the boots were displaced. Rims were damaged and front wheels seemed binding. We contacted Kauffman Tire Clearwater to complain in seeking answers, credits and to inquiry of the services. Spoke directly with the manager and original work order author, Miles **. He asked to bring it back in to look at. Based upon the damages we already documented we declined. Noting we did not feel comfortable with same BMW tech at Kauffman working on it again and wanted it to be towed to another Kauffman Tire.

Requested Corporate intervention. Note: brake seals will immediately begin to swell once contaminated with power steering fluid, transmission fluid or any other similar petroleum type substance. Those brakes were NOT binding when I took wheels off a month before to pressure wash the rims! Or I would have addressed immediately!) Apr 22, 2018, Kauffman agree to tow vehicle back to Clearwater shop when I called. I reiterated that I was NOT going to allow the same person access to this vehicle but it was for inspection only. I requested it be towed to New Port Richey instead. It was agreed and towed later to Kauffman New Port Richey store to inspect and fix the next day when BMW tech arrived.

The following day the manager, Bobby, called and said a ride height sensor needed replacing BEFORE they could check alignment and anything else. The next day they called and said it was ready. I researched vehicle and noted that the ride height sensor is ONLY for the headlights. Again, incompetence and unqualified to work on this type vehicle. They TEST drove vehicle after SPECIFIC instructions no one was to drive it. 1.8 miles test drive further damaging vehicle. They cleared as fixed when it clearly was not! They released as ‘no binding’ of brakes. Requested corporate, again, to handle this dispute. No more calls and one email stating he was working on it.

Apr 24, 2018. I determined the stain on the convertible top was actually the rotor sat on top of it during replacement and the lubricant they are shipped in leaked onto the top; permanently damaging it. I sent such findings to corporate rep Larry **. Apr 25, 2018 Insurance adjuster annotated first claim. That covered scratch on fender and cleaning top only. ($696.43 total to repair with $1000 deductible = $303.57 required payment by vehicle owner to fix damages) Stated rim damage or brake damage could NOT be covered because it was service damage. Apr 26, 2018 decided to redeliver vehicle to Kauffman Clearwater in agreement they would repair issues. Owner picked up later that day.

In good faith owner scheduled to get convertible top cleaned in attempts to remove stains by Kauffman Tire placing an object on top of it in 2 locations. They refused to clean and denied it happened during their service. They released vehicle again ensuring owner it was safe for road with no brakes binding. I was unavailable to inspect and front hub did not feel hot after ‘short’ test drive later. Apr 28, 2018 Drove vehicle to Reeder Details 40+- miles away - frequent detailer of this vehicle - to attempt cleaning convertible top oil type contaminates from Kauffman Tire service. The hubs were NOW hot to the touch again and the steering wheel was lightly shaking. Reeder could NOT remove stains. During drive back home wheel began to shake more, vehicle drifting in another lane and slow response in vehicles forward motion.

We decided to take it to Ferman BMW dealer, with certified BMW technicians in Tarpon Springs. We scheduled a complete inspection to verify brake and alignment discrepancies. Apr 30, 2018 BMW certified technicians inspected and re-aligned vehicle properly. Also verified brakes were binding but did not test brake fluid due to lack of that type of service and technology. May 3, 2018 USAA Insurance issued a supplemental claim for convertible top replacement with aftermarket one. The total claim now was $2408.43 with $1000 deductible = payment to insurer of $1403.43 ONLY. The top replacement was $1700 alone. It will NOT come clean and now the vehicle is depreciated $2000+ from their body, rims and convertible top damages.

Kept contacting Mavis corporate rep asking for credit and insurance forms. No answer. May 5, 2018. The struts were inspected next and found was the torque of the right side vs left side were considerably different and thrust bearing was NOT lubricated. Also found parts of metal ON the thrust bearing of the strut; broken off from the shock mounts. I suspect the special tool #22-164568 required was NOT utilized. Nor was the correct torque on the thrust washers applied. May 11, 2018. First rear brake sample was taken after inspecting brake fluid in reservoir to have a distinct power steering smell to it and to verify whether a brake flush was done. Also in suspicions of the front brake binding due to being contaminated. Verified as extremely contaminated and dirty.

May 15, 2018. Documentation was secured to itemize the cost of materials utilized by Kauffman and also to establish documentations of the brake rotors being shipped with lubricant on them. Also their claim that PREMIUM brake pads and PREMIUM rotors were installed. The brake pads are the lowest quality available at AutoZone and others. The exact numbers were taken off the pads and work orders to verify EXACT components. The low quality un-coated front rotors were already rusting on the vehicle and creating more rust on adjacent components. The rear rotors were quality and coated. May 19, 2018. The brake cylinder reservoir was removed to inspect and take samples of contents.

May 22, 2018 Removal of master cylinder to inspect. A stainless steel rod fell OUT of the brake supply reservoir during removal! The pictures taken BEFORE any work was done on the brake system denoted NO ONE had taken any component off nor broken the factory ‘white’ seals until Kauffman serviced vehicle. There is NO REASON to remove those supply lines even to flush brakes. May 24, 2018 All front brake components were removed for inspection. May 25, 2018 Front rotors and brake pads, both damaged prematurely from binding brakes, were purchased. Rear rotors were matched up and documented to be EXACTLY the same circumference to the stains on the convertible top at 300mm. May 28, 2018. ALL brake components removed from vehicle to be replaced, flushed and inspected.

During such removal the dents into the sides of the front fenders was discovered. Insurance would not issue a supplement and owner had them corrected at her expense of $125.00. Dent pulling out only to lessen visual. Subsequently vehicle was completed and put back into service with perfect brake system working. We have sought credit and assistance from Kauffman to no avail. June 8, 2018 a settlement was offered to Kauffman that was $2400 less than the costs of ALL damages and component replacement. This was done so that we may move forward, prep vehicle for sale and end the credit card dispute. Requested was to simply credit ALL the original work order charges, have technician(s) that worked on this vehicle investigated for intentional liable actions during maintenance as well as the review of ALL previous potential victims serviced by that tech.

To include the service manager, Miles **, being investigated for inflating prices to unsuspecting clients and/or working directly with the technician on those actions. (Another perspective is damaging brake systems so that customers will come BACK to the store for repairs? My inquiry and opinion only.) Gave Larry ** 48hrs to contact me on settlement. No word as of the time of this report input in the Consumer Affairs as a review. Sent various news agencies links of this unacceptable service for publicizing for OTHER VICTIMS. SUMMARY June 10, 2018 Still no settlement with Kauffman; client only contacted three times by Kauffman corporate representative, Larry ** during the entire course of this dispute.

Defective parts were returned to store (see R1) but no credit was offered upon anything but… a credit of $169.00 for the BMW dealer re-alignment. $1000's in damages to vehicle: denied by them. Parts broken by them and charged client. Parts charged customer but NOT installed. Contaminated Brake system after 'returning' vehicle to fix AFTER being charged for brake flush. All components required replacement due to their contamination. Purposeful? Two different Kauffman stores had hands on this vehicle. Clearwater and New Port Richey, Florida.

BOTH Kauffman centers released an unsafe vehicle with brakes binding back on the road which could have easily caused an accident. The front brakes were binding so bad you could smell the rubber burning within the closed garage of new tires after first drive home and subsequently after that. That is what alerted me to begin inspecting vehicle the first night it was picked up. The vehicle was taken to BMW certified techs/dealer to inspect and verify brake issues. IT WAS VERIFIED THE BRAKES WERE BINDING. Kauffman runs an on-going brake special with LABOR included yet they charged my client $54 per axle labor and $20 extra on the front brakes. They damaged the front fenders, the convertible top, the rims AND returned the vehicle with all grease, brake fluid and tire 'soap' still on it.

I believe my investigation is complete and thorough upon this vehicle in question whereas you could peruse the items of concern in confidence of the factual basis I have provided all documentation for. This is an on-going dispute of which I've submitted a BBB report, requested news agencies involvement to publicize to inform potential victims serviced by Kauffman Tire. I AM HOPING THIS REPORT INFORMS OTHER POTENTIAL VICTIMS OF WHICH ARE UNINFORMED and otherwise uneducated in vehicle services of Kauffman tire and others performing unacceptable work on vehicles on the road. People’s lives are potentially endangered if they released vehicles just like my clients back on the road.

In addition; on 2 different occasions they have laughed at us of my concerns and allegations of this matter. Also is alarming is the extreme parts mark-ups on consumers with no regulations instilled! In closing we are both Veterans. My client, BW retired, me; 6yrs of which was duly shared with all Kauffman locations in the hopes of being treated with a bit more respect for our services of our country as is the trend nowadays.

I know a lot of people that work at Mavis Discount Tires and it's one of those things where you don't really hear word of mouth anymore. So when you do hear it repeatedly, it's something you have to check out. At Mavis, I get the look and feel like family and that's very important. Everybody hates it when something happens on their car. People don't even get oil changes because they're afraid of going, getting an oil change and getting looked at. So when you find a place that feels like home, you don't really want to leave it.

I've gotten a lot of stuff at Mavis. I purchased Polar Bear Vitour tires at the beginning of winter and they are amazing. Polar Bear Vitour has great quality, great traction and control of everything. It's overall a great thing. They're the best tires that I've ever had. They look like the new General Altimax Arctic 12 with the exact same tread patterns at a much more moderate price. Price point is a huge deal for me and Mavis blew it out of the water.

We came to Mavis Hudson, 05/11/2018 to check brake pads and new tire. Bob told me and my husband we need new battery, brake fluid is out. I asked him how can tell our battery is not good if we only have 32,719 plus mileage. Bob scared me because end of the month we'll be driving to IL with our two kids. He recommend to change the battery and he didn't tell me how much for battery. My husband and I waited, he came up to us he said here's a deal. Battery, fluid, tire and something else $454 something dollars. And I told him I just need brake pads and new tire. He said, "I'll come out and negotiate."

After 2 minutes $454 down to $356.68. I have a receipt and everything. Like I said from a new tire, and brake pads to battery. I was looking at the receipt change oil charge, labor oil change, new core, used core, computer balance, I just don't get it. We came for basic and it seems like Bob recommended all this stuff my car doesn't need. I worked with Public but this is insane how people can play the system.

I used to go to STS and then Mavis bought out STS and I knew a lot of people that still work underneath the Mavis brand name since the takeover. Of course, I will still gonna do business with people that I knew and felt comfortable with. So, I went to my old store in Kingston and they broke both my lower control armbar on my car. Mavis gave me a discounted rate but they refused to do anything else for me because I brought the car back several times. I had to buy my own special order parts which cost me $350 then bring it back to them to make good in the alignment and they tried to charge me for an alignment again. Also, they still made me pay for two tires that were scrubbed out.

They didn't want to take responsibility for messing up my car in the first place because they broke the ball socket back and weld it. They didn't tell me that it was still flopping around loose. I put almost 3000 miles on the car and they told me everything was good and that I don't have to worry about it. But if I went to align it again, I’m gonna have to put either the tall arm bushings in it. And then I finally got it up on my personal list and looked at the car because I was not always home with it. My wife told me that the front tires were bald again and there was a cord showing. I put the car up on the lift and took the front tire. I shook it back and forth where they welded the bolt and it looked like they beat it into submission with a 20-pound sledgehammer.

I took measurements off the frame and everything was set back like 3/8 of an inch and it was huge when it comes to alignment specs. At that point, I was beyond furious. The problem went on for four months and I finally told them that I was done with their store. I was completely burned by the regional manager who knew me because I used to work for him. I've broken my back for him and run other stores and went above and beyond for everything that I possibly could. I ended up going down to the store in Kerhonkson to another guy that I used to work at the store I used to work in. The guy took care of me with no questions asked. He aligned the car and he checked everything out and sent me pictures with the alignment specs.

He made things right for me because we told them the story of what happened up at the other store. I went back to him for my inspection and the oil change. He's the guy that cares. Mavis is a huge corporate structure and ordinarily, my car never goes anywhere. I fix everything myself except for this one instance. Mavis sell great tires and perform a lot of services but they got to go on with an open mind. They are a very busy place. Every employee is fully knowledgeable of every single thing, but there's not a lot of master packs hanging around.

About 1 year later my son goes back to that shop with a pulsating brake pedal with about 15000 miles on the job. They said he needed rear brakes and axle seals but could not due the axle seals. I called them and explained that you just did this job last year. The manager paused and looked it up. They immediately had Steve ** regional rep call me and said, "I will take care of it" but I would have to incur some cost. I looked at the bill and seen just axle seal replacement 300 $. I insisted the job was never done. Of course he said, "My guys would never do that."

Then he said the car had to go to another shop. He didnt a qualified mechanic at this one. It goes to shop who pulled the axles out and said they could not do the job. I called the home office and spoke to a customer service rep who was great. Her name was Mercedes, she put me in touch with a different regional rep because the last guy went on vacation. This one understood what was going and said, "Dont worry about it. I will take care of it, I am going to send over my best man to take care of it in the morning."

I spoke to his best man who verified the job was never done. It had all original bearings and seals. ALL this time everyone knew the work was never done because they dont do this type of work. So they sent my son on the road with leaky axle seals that I paid to have replaced that were leaking all over his rear brakes. ARE YOU KIDDING? VERY DANGEROUS. They did come clean and replace rear axle seals and bearings and brakes at no charge. THEY WOULD NOT GIVE MY SON A BILL OR RECEIPT OF WORK PERFORMED. If I were not a mechanic at 1 time I would have been ripped off. THIS WAS NO ACCIDENT.

Excellent service. I was very satisfied with the work performed. All the employees seemed very helpful. They check my front brakes and noticed some wear. Unfortunately I paid for new brakes at a different repair shop only to find out the work was never performed.

I'm an Uber driver and I ended up picking up a manager of the Westbury Mavis Discount Tires store. I have Mavis that's literally about five blocks from my house in Longhorn but I still travel about 15 minutes to go deal with that manager personally because he takes such good care of me. They've always bent over backwards to try and help us. I purchased a set of tires, a battery, an alternator, tire rods, shocks, struts and brakes and so far everything works out really well.

I've been to Mavis twice, first time for tire repair. Was so impressed with the customer service and work that I scheduled my inspection. Got in and out in under 75 minutes. Again impressed with the customer service and work done. Will definitely recommend them to family, friends & anyone who will listen. Refreshing to see great service is alive and well at Mavis Tires.

I would do business again with this company and recommend everyone. All workers were very friendly and caring. I was able to negotiate with the Manager and received a very satisfactory price. I was given a ride home and was picked up when the job was complete.

They gave me a discount on top of their discount and even threw in a freebie. Such great customer service. Highly recommend!!! They were extremely thorough and the time that I waited was about an hour. That was for all four brakes and an oil change!!!

I had some extensive front end suspension work (Shocks, Brakes, Ball Joints replaced). All work was completed without any added surprises or delays. I would recommend this shop for most of your routine maintenance needs. My vehicle was ready when promised. The shop manager also personally contacted me with some additional concerns about my vehicle. All recommendations were appropriate and accepted. These guys are real Pros.
