Ordered a prescription for my wife on 8/23/2021. It was to be delivered by 8/28/2021. As of 9/8 we still do not have this critical medication that my wife needs. Seems to be lost somewhere in the postal system and tracking shows it going from a postal hub not far from my house to St Paul MN and then to various other places. While I do understand that Express Scripts cannot control the post office when I did call Express Scripts they were very cold and not very helpful. This is a medication that my wife depends on to keep her from having a stroke or other health issues. The first customer service woman I spoke to said there is basically nothing she could do and they could not send a reship until the item was lost for a month. She said I could request an emergency fill to last a few days until the item arrives if it does.
I explained that we were leaving on a two week vacation in a few days and we would need a 30 day supply 2 weeks for our vacation and then another 2 weeks so there is time to place an order and get it in time of the meds don't show up. I was told she couldn't and wouldn't commit to that. I replied that was not a real good answer and that as they were the shipper could you please contact the post office to try to find the medication. Again I was told no. I asked to speak to a supervisor and she promptly told me who to call at my insurance company and ask for an emergency fill and 30 days under the circumstances would not be a problem.
So now after I paid $120 for this prescription I now have to put another $147 out to get this emergency fill at a retail pharmacy. Being retired and on a fixed income makes this very difficult on my finances. Oh and I did contact the post office on my own and they opened a case but it may be too late to do anything before I leave. They told me that the shipper should have contacted them days ago when it was brought to their attention by me that there was an issue with this shipment.

I've been taking this beta blocker for nearly 6 years. I've been diagnosed with lupus since 1998 and have had a kidney transplant since 2011. I also take another BP med, **. Traditional Medicare and then Wellcare, the Medicare advantage plan I had until I switched to CIGNA (EXPRESS SCRIPTS), both, covered this medication. I switched to CIGNA in April, they filled all of my meds 1 time, and when I needed a refill of this medication in July, they refused to approve the prior authorization.
I and my cardiologist have exhausted appeals (4 or 5) AND have completed the assistance form directly through the drug company, which denied me, because CIGNA denied me on the basis that they know more about my diagnosis than my cardiologist. This is not a new medication. I have been taking this medication for nearly 6 years. It's almost 2:00am, and, I am awake laboring to breathe because I have been out of the medication regimen that has been working for me. I switched for the dental benefits, but, if I can't have a normal lifestyle, dental nor vision matter when your heart is not functioning properly. EXPRESS SCRIPTS/CIGNA DO NOT CARE ABOUT PEOPLE! THEY ONLY CARE ABOUT $$$.

My doctor's office has called in a prior authorization for a medication and they keep saying they never got it. They have called in twice. Calls to customer service result in denials they have received the authorization. Now who should I believe? The doctor I've been seeing for over 10 years? This medication cannot be stopped suddenly without grave consequences. Attempts to escalate result in my speaking with more people who can't help. My doctor is a busy person and has hired a service to answer calls, so they can't get through. They claim they have left messages but I'm sure they're wrong. I guess I'm stuck at least until the Medicare signup comes around (pretty soon.) I am not the kind of person who screams at people over the phone but this is driving me nuts.

I received my typical 90 day supply of **. When I opened the bottle it had a foul smell. The next day I called Express Scripts and asked for a new prescription from the customer service representative. The Representative transferred me to a pharmacist even though I wasn’t interested in talking to one. As I said, “I just wanted to order a new prescription”. I did speak with the pharmacist and she suggested that I air out the medication for 1-2 hours and it was perfectly fine and many medications have this odor. I was very clear that I am not interested in taking a foul smelling medication and I have never heard of this. After she repeatedly suggested that I take it anyways I continued to refuse to take it. Only then did I find out that I could call my doctor again and ask for a another script with a specific manufacturer listed on it. And since I would be out of medication in a day or two I needed my doctor to send a 30 day supply to my local pharmacy.
I spent additional time on the phone with another Express Scripts Representative trying to find if my 30 day supply would be covered since my 90 day supply was just filled. I then found out that I would have to call my pharmacy and let them know they would need an “Override” to get the medication paid. I wasted a tremendous amount of my personal time, my doctor’s time, and the pharmacy’s time because Express Scripts arbitrarily changed the manufacturer. Also, when I went to pick up my medication from the pharmacy I asked them about foul smelling medication being ok to take and that it is common that medication smells foul. They looked at me and said “Absolutely not.”

Diabetes is a terrible disease to have. Drs, nurses, everyone tells you to keep close watch with your body when it comes to this disease. The only tool we really have to work with are testing machines. The machines are cheap, but the test strips are what costs. I need to test at least twice a day, but Express Scripts refuses to pay for more than 25 a month??? Average days in 1 month is 30. I can't even test ONCE a day because they won't approve more than 25 strips a month. I called into see if I could get more than 2 a month. That person told me, "No problem the next time you refill your strips, tell them to call us, we will explain the way the need to make a claim for 50 test strips a month."
The next time I went for a refill, I gave them the exact information I was told to. They made the call, in front of me. They said there is NO WAY the are going to approve 50 test strips a month. The rotten ** lied to me. And made me look like a fool to my pharmacists. This company is WORTHLESS and does NOT give a damn if you die or not. Don't trust them for anything. They'll only pay for the cheapest stuff they can. Liars, don't give damn about you or your medical issues. I have no choice, this is who my company pays to see to it I stay healthy. If you have ANY OTHER OPTION than express scripts, take it.

I have been on a maintenance medication for two years, and for the past 18 months, I've used Express Scripts with no problem. Now all of a sudden there's a "problem with my prescription." When I call, I'm told they'll send a renewal, then that it's no longer covered, and then that my doctor needs to send in a form to request a generic, and finally, that my doctor needs to fax them a form (which my doctor's office and I both request, to no avail) to process a prior authorization.
I got so frustrated by all these different answers that I finally called my insurance carrier directly. Come to find out my medication IS covered and all my doctor needs to do is CALL in the prior authorization. I had to pay over $100 for a 10-day supply to tide me over until this happens. I intend on asking my insurance to reimburse me, and I will file a formal complaint about Express Scripts with them. Then I am ditching Express Scripts and going back to Walgreens. Do yourself a favor and do the same. Better yet, don't ever start with Express Scripts.

My insurance company forces me to use this PBM for my medication. Despite my insurance (UHC) formulary stating the brand name of my monthly medication is covered, Express Scripts decided to change it to generic in July without telling me or anyone else. I have had issues on the generic for the medication I am taking, so I spoke with a customer service representative on the phone.
She put in a prior authorization for my medication for me, but she messed up the details on the amount I am taking. Because of this, the prior authorization process took 3 weeks and led to a denial. Luckily, my pharmacy is aware of this issue and ordered a specific authorized generic formula of my medication for me to pick up. Express Scripts is playing with fire and is the most confusing process I have been involved in. I can only imagine the hell seniors are dealing with.

I immediately contacted ES to get a refund since she would not be using the prescription. I filled all the required docs. Nearly three month later, I find out that ES is NOT issuing a refund because the account was required to be open till the May 31, 2021 even though the service was not used nor needed. ES basically stole a month's premium. Whatever you do, do NOT sign up for auto pay for elderly persons!

I have been on birth control for DECADES. I have had MANY insurance companies over the years and have used many different pharmacies and I've never had one issue EVER. Two years ago our state insurance switched to an insurance company that requires us to use Express Scripts exclusively. Since that time they illegally went to my doctor to get him to rewrite my prescription to be completely generic with no name so they could send me whatever they want. That doctor did not know that I went through months and months of issues with another doctor to find the medication that worked for me. I was livid. They not only did this without any discussion with me but then they sent the wrong medication and I had to fight them to send the right medication. These come in 3 month packs.
2 cycles later I get a call that they will no longer provide my medication because it is discontinued - the pharmacist insists that the medication ** has been discontinued and is no longer being produced. Having ZERO options I was forced to change my medication. Much research and I discover that this is not true and the medication WAS NOT DISCONTINUED - I CAN GET IT FROM ANY PHARMACY AS LONG AS IT ISN'T THE CRIMINALS AT EXPRESS SCRIPTS. Cut to 2 more cycles later I get a phone call that they must speak with me but can't say why. I call back and after being on hold 17 minutes and no one ever answering I hang up. I go to their website and guess what? MY MEDICATION NAME IS DIFFERENT!!! THEY WANT TO CHANGE MY MEDICATION AGAIN!!!! BUT I CAN'T GET A PERSON ON THE PHONE.
I submit an email and I get a response telling me they can't discuss anything in email and I will need to talk to a pharmacist and they give me another number. I call that number and they said my expected wait time is 26 minutes, but I can put my phone number in and wait and hopefully someone will call me back. So - I am waiting - but I guarantee you that these CRIMINALS intend to change my medication AGAIN. MIND YOU ** is a already a generic. So now they switched me to Melodetta that is also a generic and now found a cheaper generic they intend to switch me to.
So they are messing with my medication - my hormones, my doctor's prescription - wasting my time every few months having to fight them so they can save pennies on my medication. I can get my medication as prescribed if my insurance allowed me to get my medication from ANY OTHER PHARMACY but Express Scripts is not in the business of providing the medication prescribed - they are in the business of cutting as many corners as possible to reduce their bottom line by pennies for every single person so that they can give a fat check to their CEO at the end of every year. They should be prosecuted and I intend to complain to every single place I can (my company, Better Business Bureau, here, and anywhere else I can find) to report their egregious and disgusting business practices.

I received a call from Accredo representative Ashley regarding my **. Apparently per Representative Ashley, the co-pay assistance that has been on file since January stopped paying for the Generic back in March. They now only pay for Brand. Now the ** that has been filled since March, I now owe a bill of $748.30 and I have to find co-pay assistance that will back pay to cover those charges. A few questions I have, why did the generic continue to be filled once the generic start rejecting back in March? Secondly, why did it take almost 4 months until I was notified? Thirdly, why was the brand med not filled instead once it was discovered that brand was preferred? Both of my scripts are written for the generic name but the ** is filled as brand, so if the claim rejects as brand name preferred, could the brand ** not be filled?
I called Accredo back and spoke with 3 representatives and was placed on hold more times than I can count, all to no avail. Not 1 representative was able to answer any of my questions. I never can get a person that is willing to assist and resolve any issues. Furthermore there should not have to be so many issues repeatedly regarding life-saving meds. On top of that, now I am stuck having to struggle to find an extra $750.00 due to inattention & negligence.

I do prior authorizations for a doctor's office for MS medications. At least every other one is rejected with formulary suggestions for cheaper medications. When a patient is established on a medication for years, they do not wish to change based on saving money for the insurance company or the pharmacy. Generics are pushed and even if the medication requested is generic, a cheaper one is suggested over the requested. This ends up being letters to prove why the original request should be honored. It is tedious and time consuming. This week 3 patients have had to change their medication to accommodate the pharmacy or insurance-the gap without medication can precipitate exacerbations and anxiety for the patients. I am not sure how they are able to refuse what the physician has ordered and make us jump through hoops to get something the patient has been established with. They need to accommodate exceptions.

I am writing a sad story to reveal the darkness of the Express Scripts. I am a patient with critical pre-condition. Ordered refill of 5 medications. Express Scripts shipped the medication using DHL ( A German Carrier) - Imagine Using A European Postal Service on The US Soil! I called them that I have not received my vital medications, a so called pharmacist told that, "Call DHL, we can not do anything. It might take 1+ week to send the replacement." I told express scripts pharmacist that these are vital medication and I am travelling in two days, the unhuman, ruthless, black heart pharmacist told me "Call DHL". Really calling German Company on the US soil???
I asked for supervisor, She asked few questions and passed me to another person. She said, "It takes 30+ days for you to receive your medication." I said, "OK, please reimburse my money." She diverted me to another person. I told her that I am a pre-condition patient, no sympathy from her either. Finally, She said, "I will reimburse you!" In total, I was on the call for 90 minutes. Imagine, I could have died If I had no money to purchase my medications from other pharmacies! Waited two weeks and I called and asked for a supervisor. He told me that, "I will ask billing department to cut you a check and send it to you." I asked him, "Shall I call you back." He said no!
Nothing in two weeks! I called back and talked to a lady, She said, "We did cut you a check and you will receive it in two weeks, Call us if you did not receive it by June 13th." I called again and spoke with another lady. She told, there is no check???? I asked to speak with supervisor! I have spoken with a gentleman, and story goes on... Please for the sake of lord, for the love of god, be careful if you have critical medication. Express Scripts cares NOTHING about your well being, No sympathy even if you die because of not receiving your medication. Imagine, they do not even use US carrier for their medication. They prefer give the profits to foreigner not our US citizens.

What they do is give you a red exclamation point and say "Payment Issue," and "Sorry you cannot complete this action at this time, please Contact Us." They provide zero information online, then make you wait on hold for (as of right now all told, 35 minutes), only to get you to say "OK" to charge your credit card the amount for a prescription. My health plan uses an HSA with a deductible, so there is always a charge of some kind until about August, after which everything is covered. This whole payment issue problem is major waste of my time every 3 months and they provide zero details on why they can't allow you to authorize online the same way I pay with my HSA credit card. What a waste of time and money. Makes you wonder why people buy black market drugs.

I called Express Scripts after 29 minutes was told the number I was given for doctor to call was the wrong department. They need to call another department. Asked could Express Scripts call doctor. No they cannot. Very frustrating.

Express Scripts part D Medicare insurance. Several ongoing problems. The bill monthly but send the bill just a few days before it is due so I am constantly trying to play catch-up. Paying online would be a good solution. However, their website has been inoperable for over a year now. I was able to set up an account but anything beyond that is said to be in accessible and to try again later. I’ve been trying for over a year. Most recently, a medication I have been taking for over 20 years is now not on their formulary. They suggested another prescription which I tried for over a month. It was not effective and, in fact, made me ill. Two appeals by my doctor and Express Scripts is still refusing to pay for it. It is a generic medication. Will be looking into other insurance next sign up. Do I need to mention that whenever they call me or I need to call them I have to talk with someone with such a thick accent that I can barely understand them. I am not hard of hearing.

Recently I placed a prescription order and said I needed expedited shipping. I kept getting emails, not a phone call, saying there was a problem with the prescription. I finally called my doctor twice and they kept calling in the prescription only to find out Express did not expedite the shipping. This is only one of many prescriptions that have been delayed without any warning.

I ordered my meds on 4/27/21 with an expected delivery date of 5/1. These are meds that help me breathe during allergy months (which we’re in the thick of right now). It is now 5/7 and no one has a clue where my meds are, as the last record of it was on 5/3 in St. Louis. When I called, nothing was done to rectify it other than an “override” so I can pick some up at my local pharmacy. I was then told if I didn’t receive it within the next MONTH that I should call and speak to one of their pharmacist about another refill. I will NEVER EVER be ordering from this company again, and it seems like I’ll be lucky to receive the 3 month supply which I’ve already been charged for. Terrible customer service!!!

I was a bit dubious when our insurance required us to use Express Scripts for maintenance medication, but after a year of use I'm favorably impressed. Getting them (3 pills) from the local chain pharmacy was rarely without some sort of problem -- in a year of Express Scripts, they transferred my prescriptions over without hassle, have contacted the doctor for my auto-refills in plenty of time, and when I switched doctors, that was also handled seamlessly -- all I had to do was check my account to see that they'd received the new prescriptions. Even with the pandemic, I've had my refills in plenty of time, and they give me the option of being invoiced and making payment after delivery, which I prefer rather than having them charge my credit card.

I received notice of a new collections account on my credit report (in 2020) from US Treasury stating that I owed $1,053.43 to Tricare for a past debt on my account. They stated that I owed money from 05/2016 on a prescription ordered on my behalf. At this time I did not have Tricare coverage and did not allow my medical provider to place any prescriptions through Tricare and was being seen for injuries obtained in a motor vehicle accident I was in. I was contacted in 2017 about this debt directly from Express Scripts, I contacted the company and informed them I made no authorization for medication to be ordered and sent to my house and I informed them that I never even received a package containing medication as they claim I did. Express Scripts then said they would look into it further and I never got information following that contact.
I never received any further documents from Express Scripts until 02/2021 and I have a wage garnishment from US Treasury Dept saying that Express Scripts charged $1,900+, Express Scripts customer support said they would look into the issue further and then refused to contact me any further after about the end of 2017. I never received medication they are charging me for and I informed Express Scripts of this immediately when I received the first bill. They have refused to acknowledge my issue with them so I will be suing them for unethical behavior, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

My husband had a massive stroke and the doctors sent in a new prescription because I changed 1/1 to Express Scripts. It took me weeks to get it approved although he had been taking it for over a year while he was with another prescription company. Two days ago he was given another prescription and I went to pick it up and it was not ready. I called the prescribing doctor and they said that Express Scripts wants to know why he has to take this new prescription and why others do not work and the list goes on. In 15 years of having other prescription companies, I have never run across this problem. This is the second one in a few months which is ridiculous. A doctor prescribing the medication is not sufficient for Express Scripts. I cannot wait for the year to be over so I can change to another company.

It had been a hassle once a year to get a recurring prescription filled. Now it’s more frequent. I’m on a medication that I need so I don’t die, that costs upwards of $400/month. Not only is there a limit on cost that I have to call every time until I meet the deductible because 90 days is over $1000, I’m now having to deal with my doctor having to approve more than once per year. The last go around, they claimed my doctor’s office never submitted the info for a very long time and I was getting it because someone overrided. Called the doctor and they have records of multiple faxes, emails, electronic submissions, phone calls, notes from all contact...
If my insurance is requiring long term prescriptions to be filled through Express Scripts, I have the luxury of choosing another insurance company. Preferably one not dealing with this racket. They want me to have a hard time filling a script that my life depends on? They won’t be depending on my payments come open enrollment if this turns into the cf it did last year. I cannot wait for the generic to come out to not have a script payment more than my 3rd apartment was per month.

Due to my insurance company, my prescriptions were being sent to this company. I put a stop to it! I started a new prescription (very expensive one!) that I ended up not being able to finish. So, I contacted the company and informed them NOT to send the next month's prescription, my Dr was discontinuing the prescription. They sent it anyway, and told me I had to pay for it anyway. I ended up paying in the $100's, so I told them to put a note on my account, close it or whatever they needed to do. But DO NOT ever send me prescriptions again without my authorization.
Well today, out of the blue, I receive ANOTHER prescription. I DID NOT authorize them to send this! It is cheaper for me to pay out of pocket than to go through insurance and use them. They REFUSED to do anything about it, except give me a $10 credit. (Still ALOT higher than I what pay to simply pay out of pocket! If I could.) STAY FAR FAR AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!! They send you prescriptions you don't want, and then expect you to pay for them anyway.

Express Scripts somehow received (and violated HIPPA laws) by obtaining a copy of one of my prescription medications as well as my pharmacy and store number and sent this information to me in a letter containing PHI via USPS. Since they already had my information I decided to give them a try. However, when attempting to refill a medication, they attempted to change the 30 prescription of a controlled substance to a 90 prescription without my (or my doctor's) knowledge, resulting in a delay of receiving my medication resulting in my running out of a medication which should never be stopped abruptly due to potentially life-threatening withdrawal symptoms.
After 1.5 hours on the phone and 4 different people, they finally decided to dispense the prescription as originally written, but would not commit to overnighting the prescription, resulting in a situation of abrupt withdrawal and its associated side effects. I've filed a review and complaint with the BBB regarding the HIPPA violation and poor customer service with potentially life-threatening consequences.

This has to be the worst company I have ever dealt with. They promised me an account credit for 3 months of fighting them for an incorrect bill (they charged me a deductible when I didn't have one). So after 3 months and numerous hours and phone calls later, I was promised by Latisha a $50 account credit. I am still waiting for the resolution to my ticket. I call today and was told Latisha was never "suppose" to give me that $50 credit and they are taking it back. Mind you, I have received a statement already showing the credit. I couldn't believe even after listening to numerous recorded messages promising me a $50 credit that I never asked for, that they are taking it away. I felt like I was in an alternate universe. What company does that.
Then they proceed to tell me my $56 which I don't owe, because they are still charging me deductible that I do not have, they are putting me in collection and holding my medication hostage? What?? I plan on speaking to my human resources dept about this and writing to the attorney general. How dare you not honor a promise made and done especially after listening to a recorded call and hearing it all. They feel they don't need to since the rep never should have offered me that. Oh well, too bad.
Please don't use this company. I am now looking into Good Rx and other companies. Will never use this company again and after reading negative 1 star reviews since 2003, I feel better I am not alone. I never realized I would have needed to read reviews on a online pharmacy but I guess I do. Also I am so disappointed that a reputable company like Cigna would partner up with them. Cigna will be hearing from me tomorrow as well. I am just dumbfounded.. How is this company still in business. Go check out BBB too! Crazy..

When I became active for the benefits, I call customer service and added all my information and they set up my account. That customer service representative was fine. I get many medications and things seemed fine. My wife only has 1. They send it to her and she pays the bill. My representative asked if I want a card on my file and I said ok.
The next month, I see a charge to my card for $210. The bank transaction shows it paid to ES. I didn't get anything from them and went online to my account. I couldn't find anything in my history or billing that shows I got a med for $210. In the meantime, my wife tells me she got an email that she refilled her one med and they charged some credit card for $210. I told her my situation. (My wife handles her meds with her FSA. She pays when she gets a bill.) My wife's online account doesn't have a card on file and in fact, it states it on her account. How is it that my card gets charged for her medications.
Don't get me wrong, I understand we are under the same benefits but, we are 2 different people and I never authorized my card to be used on her account. I called customer service and after many times on hold I was advised that since my wife doesn't have a card on file, it will go to the next person's account searching for a card. Since I had one and it was set to "auto pay". They charged me. Ummm. Ok, I don't agree with how their system works but, I get it.
I switched my card to NOT auto pay anything and let them know that I want my money back and for them to bill my wife this way, she can pay from her FSA. They stated that if I give them the FSA card info, they will put the charge back onto my card and charge her FSA card. I told them, the medication wasn't received as of yet in addition, the new benefit year started on 4/1/2021 and we don't have the card yet. I explained that she will pay when she gets the bill, just like the hundreds times before. They couldn't credit my card until another payment is given. Ultimately, my credit card was used for an unauthorized charge. Not a good way to run a business. In addition, the payment rules used for their claim processing clearly needs reviewed.

This is the company my insurance goes thru and they are ridiculously incompetent. I had to call 3 times a couple days ago and my issue still isn't resolved. They upped my copay from $5 to $134 and some change. They won't let me use the pharmacy that I use in my hometown anymore. They want me to get a 90 day script and do the mail order thing instead. Okay fine I'll do it. But I have already been out of these meds for 3 days. They said that they could not override their system and that I could get 10 of these pills for $44 instead of me getting 30 for $5. So anyways they got ahold of the Dr. and I also called to make sure my Dr. knew it was urgent.
I get an email saying I have to call to confirm my mailing address. First of all I do not understand why the first lady did not confirm that with me to begin with. So I call and talk to someone who can now miraculously override the system to allow me another month at my pharmacy of choice at $5. She says I have to get it that night though or it will not allow me to get it. I called my pharmacy and they were closed. I forgot that they have shortened hours due to covid. I call back to this place a 3rd time to see if they can change the date to the next day and that I would get my meds right away. The lady said that I actually had until April 1st to get the script.
I called my pharmacy to have them push it back through and now they are completely blocked from doing it and I was very clear with the lady from Express Scripts that I needed them to overnight my meds and now I am 6 days out with no meds and freaking out because I feel like I am on the verge of a mental breakdown. I will be putting in a formal complaint with my company as well. Hopefully when they choose a prescription company again they do not choose this one. I feel like I am being taken advantage of and none of those people that work there care either way.

Express Scripts also changed the packaging so that the items arrived smashed in the mail.
After several frustrating calls to Express Scripts, they refused to supply me with the amount that I was used to receiving because what they said is "supposed" to be sufficient. These drops are instilled in the eyes and there is no way to always instill them without wasting drops. I tried switching pharmacies but the insurance would not allow 90 days without using Express Scripts. I resorted to using them once again. When I requested the new refill, their website displayed 4 as the quantity that I would receive. I took a screenshot! Now that the order is being processed, I see that the quantity is now switched back to 3 bottles! This is simply wrong!

I have never received my prescription on time. This last incident consisted of the following: 1. Contacted ES to ask for a vacation override and immediate prescription delivery since I was departing in a week and was going to be gone a month. I was told to have my doctor submit the prescription with a notation of an override. 2. Called a second time to ensure that ES received the doctor's message. Was told that he needed to submit a request for a vacation indicating that a 30 day supply needed to be picked up at the local Walgreens because the medication wouldn't arrive in time otherwise. The doctor did that.
3. Called Walgreens to ensure that they would receive the 30 day supply. They refuted what ES said and told me that the doctor first had to request the 30 day override and send the prescription to the local Walgreens and then Walgreens would call ES to get approval. 4. Re-contacted the doctor and asked him to resend the override request to Walgreens.
5. I am leaving on Monday and today is Friday. No one has notified me of the status of the medication. When I checked online in my account, ES indicates that they are just now filling the prescription and that the delivery date is unknown. 5. I contacted ES and have never been able to speak to the assigned advocate. The representative told me that Walgreens was sent approval to fill the override. I was never updated on this by ES or Walgreens. 6. I went to my Walgreens account and now receiving a message that there is a delay and I leave in two days. The other prescriptions are send far in advance. So much so that I end up paying more. This is horrible service.

Cigna recently acquired Express Scripts to replace the Cigna Home Pharmacy. Express Scripts shipped one medication to me during the historical winter storm that hit Texas and most of the country via UPS using SmartPost. I get the delays for the snow storm. I blame UPS because they will never change the shipping method once they have the package even if it is critical or knowing there is a massive storm. UPS got the package to Chicago after 3 days from NJ. Here is where I get annoyed by Express Scripts who claims we are monitoring packages. Why can't you call UPS and tell them change the shipping to 2nd day air? They can see the package is not making it to Texas even though all the snow and etc. is melted since the weekend. Also why can't Express Scripts use priority mail like the Cigna home pharmacy always did from South Dakota? What if someone was out of meds and needed them to live?
Will you allow one to get them from Walmart? My guess is yes with paying full price. This is totally unacceptable. We all know Cigna has shipping contracts in place so they are not paying much for a package to UPS if they have to use 1 day or 2nd day air. I am just glad I have extra left because I have no idea when the refill will arrive.
Glad to hear, if you need any assistance in the future please do not hesitate to reach out. Thank you ^SJ

For 10+ years I had received a 3 month supply of a particular medication at a reasonable cost, same dosage, same prescriber, and for whatever reason now Express Scripts is supplying the same medication 1 month supply at the same cost. They tell me that it's the way the prescription was written, and having the same doctor write the same prescription for 10+ years I find that hard to believe, nothing has changed except with Express Scripts. To make matters worse Express Scripts refused to consider any reasonable resolution and refused to look at my previous history with this doctor or medication. As a decorated military veteran I feel that this is a slap in the face to myself and other vets who may have had the same experience.
This could possibly have occurred due to the purchase of Express Scripts by Cigna in 2018, and therefore certainly policy changes. Because I did not require refills due to a supply of this medication that I had kept on hand it wasn't necessary to refill this prescription until recently. To make matters worse and in an attempt to resolve this issue, and turning off the autofill option they issued another month supply even under the 30 day minimum to refill.
This, to me is a clear motive to make money at any cost, and really 1 person, on a budget are they really going to feel the pinch of less than $100. Now for the icing, after several weeks of pursuing this issue with Express Scripts I received a new pricing policy in the mail, this was the only correspondence I had received except for a bill. "Surprise". So my recommendation is if you use Express Scripts expect deception and lies, their customer support is using less than desirable individuals with little or no experience in customer support. Their ultimate goal is maximize $$ and minimize the customer.

Three days later they said they could not ship till I was counseled on new drug. Next, new script was delayed, they told me renew earlier, so I did. It was rejected as they said I still had some from previous order. Next, recently, took 1 wk to get to Doc's. Monday morning it was faxed. I thought I should phone Express Scripts to get info on new drug so there would be no delays. Now Wed. Haven't had my pills for 3 days now. I phoned them, they said they contacted FedEx and they said they lost them. I guess I should drive there and pick them up myself..oh, wait a minute, isn't that called a Pharmacy? My health gets jeopardized by my insurance holder that insists on using Express Scripts.

I decided to switch to mail order after I became tired of my town pharmacists ignoring CDC recommendations for face masks. SC PEBA uses Express Rx for pharmacy benefits. When I transferred my Rx (schedule 4 drug), I told that I needed to have my doctor send them a new Rx. So I scheduled an early appointment (tele-med). Because my supply was approaching zero, I contacted my old pharmacy. Express Rx transferred my script. On the day of my EXTRA appointment, my Rx arrived in the mail. This should have clued me into the services customer support, but I am a slow learner.
About 80 days later, my doctor submitted a script to Express Rx. I called Express Rx the next day for status. My doctor needed to submit the pre-approval form, which is standard for my drug. I called the office, who told me that they received only the first page of a multipage fax. So I called Express Rx back to ask them to re-fax the form. A few hours later, I received an email from them that they are working on my order. I thought "good."
I became concerned that nothing showed up in my mailbox by Saturday. I logged in my account and learned that my preapproval form was pending. It appears that Express Rx did not re-fax the form. They wanted the doctor to call them with a 1-800 number. The company robocalled me the next day (Sunday). Express Rx cancelled the order. I should have looked up Express Rx reviews. I have seen a company with a lower average. It deserved it. Why did Express Rx "sit on their thumbs?" I plan to lodge complaint with SC PEBA. The state of South Carolina should move their contract to competent pharmacy benefits company.

So to set the stage, Express Scripts (ES), is the middle man for my pharmacy Walgreens. This has been the arrangement for a year. I have to use them with my company insurance. Using them is not by choice. They accidentally received 3 RX’s that my Doc sent in and put on hold. They immediately filled and shipped, mailed to me without my authorization. All within 24hrs. The bad part is I don't need these meds and they are way overpriced. When I was deleting junk mail, I noticed an email that said my RXs were shipped. I thought this was spam so I called ES.
After 10 hrs with the no help desk, numerous disconnects and run arounds, no resolution. They claim there is no way to stop them from shipping you an RX if you are a first timer. Plus they claim there is no way to return unwanted rxs that you didn't request. They say others have the authority to tell me what I need to pay for. This is unacceptable. They said I could accept and donate the meds. I had to write a letter to the grievance committee for their review. They said they would not accept the meds back. I denied receipt of these meds and they were returned to sender. The bad part is they are holding my RXs hostage and wont let Walgreens fill them. As if that wasn't enough, I spent 5+ hrs with the no help desk trying to return a $140 check they sent me in error! Their response, "Cash it, if we have an issue you can then repay us." Wow, what planet am I on?

Due to recent insurance changes my family has to use Express Scripts for 90 day medications. It’s nice to have medications delivered to your door especially in the cold winter months assuming the order is correct and the price is reasonable. We recently tried to get a break down of medication prices prior to payment and shipment. After spending 45 minutes on the phone we were unable to ascertain breakdown. Sent payment and received shipment only to find out 1 brand name medication was $250 compared to generic which was $46.98.
Express Scripts has refused to accept return, refused exchange, refused refund. How is this okay for people with limited economic means especially during this pandemic? Had we been able to get a price breakdown we would not have accepted the medication. Had we been able to use a local pharmacy this matter would have been easily resolved or not occurred in the first place. I’m very disappointed and disheartened by the lack of empathy by this huge company.

I have a prescription for a controlled substance, and my medication was shipped on December 9, 2020 got lost in the mail, then subsequently stolen (I'm assuming since the envelope arrived empty). I refused the package from the mail carrier and called ES. They said they needed the doctor to rewrite a prescription, so I contacted the doctor for an emergency (2-week) prescription while waiting for the refused envelope to be returned to ES. I had to pay out-of-pocket for my 2-week supply because ES, though they are also my insurance company, declined coverage. Okay, whatever. So time goes by and nothing... I call ES to see what the status is on the medication and they say they have another script from the doctor that was canceled because it was "too early for a refill"... This is when I start getting mad.
The tracking info LITERALLY shows the shipment was refused and I had already called several times. I get transferred to a supervisor who tells me I have to get another script from my doctor, and they will ship it overnight as a courtesy. So I contact my doctor and in their (very understandable confusion) send a script for another 2-week emergency supply, which was then also canceled by ES without notifying me. Each time my scripts were canceled, there was no contact or notice, I found out by calling and having to re-explain everything going on to a new person. So, the holidays slowed everything down, and I tried to be patient. I last spoke to a pharmacist on 12/30/2020 named Kim who told me I had to get one more script from my poor doctor and the medication would be shipped.
I got a call on Saturday, Jan 2nd from a robot asking to verify my address and telling me my medication will be shipped. Another few days pass and today, January 5th, I look at my account online and I see it is still "processing" my prescription and the shipping is 3-5 business days. I seriously want to scream. I don't know what is happening at ES, but clearly there is little or no communication or organization. This is a medication that helps me function, but thankfully it's not keeping me alive, because I'd be dead by now. If you have any medications you need to survive DO NOT USE EXPRESS SCRIPTS! There is no guarantee you will actually ever get your medication.

A few days went by and I reached out to them, I was told that they received the prescription and were completing the request that day. A couple days after that I received another email stating they could not complete the request. I called again and was told that the medicine was no longer covered by my insurance and could not be completed. I asked the representative a few questions which included, "How is this possible to when it was fulfilled by you guys last month?" The preventative told me that was incorrect. So I stated to her when it was fulfilled, by the whom and the address it was sent from. She proceeded to say to me that it must have been in error because on her ends it shows as being cancelled.
My next question was, "So you guys sent me medicine in which I shouldn’t have been taking? What if I took medicine that wasn’t prescribed to me for a complete 30 days and died?" To which she had no answer to. This company is horrible and doesn’t attempt to help you in any way. I’m very upset that this is how I now have to receive my prescriptions. It's interesting that "Shanta" in Express Scripts customer service sends exactly same worded response to everyone who has complaints! I've used ES for standard array of prescriptions for several years. No problems until recently when a prescription required more info from doctor. After 2 weeks waiting ES said they never received faxed info from MD. ES also said they were waiting for my premium payment info so they could fill mail order. I explained I have never had any prescriptions mailed & that monthly premiums are automatically deducted from my checking account! Co-fees are paid to pharmacy when I pick up prescription. That completely confused service rep who said thats not info they had on file!
I went over it again & she still wanted payment info & also said to have MD send info again, suggesting that they probably sent to wrong fax number. I knew I was getting nowhere. I double checked fax no. & asked MD to send info again. 3 weeks later, still no prescription filled & ES pointing finger at MD & pharmacy. They are also increasing premium costs 3x over previous years, so I am changing RX insurance coverage. Enough is enough.

I had to leave my local pharmacy because my insurance made it so expensive to get prescriptions filled anywhere else. There is nothing express about it. It takes at least a week to receive medication so if you have health issues that requires medication day of, forget it. Also, one of my very expensive medications is a controlled substances and they sent me two 30 day supplies within two weeks (seems illegal). Out of nowhere, the second bottle showed up and I was charged $90 even though I didn’t order it and it wasn’t on automatic refill (which if it was it still shouldn’t have come that close to the previous because it’s a controlled substance).
When I called, they blamed it on my Doctor and said she didn’t know how to correctly write prescriptions and there was nothing they could do about it. The next time I got a prescription for that medication, I asked my Doctor to print it so I could take it to my local pharmacy instead. Well that pharmacist told me Express Scripts placed a block on my insurance from getting anything filled anywhere else. When I called Express Scripts they just hung up on me. I sent an email and still haven’t heard back. At this point I just want my prescription because it’s crucial to my every day life and if I send the prescription to Express Scripts it’ll be at least another week to receive it. This company couldn’t care less about its clients.

Unlike the international date line, which is 1 day later than today, Express Scripts will send your prescription 1 day later than anyone can possibly imagine them being late. You will probably die from your illness before your meds arrive.
Never use this company for any meds that will adversely impact your health if you are without them for extended time (use a pharmacy or tell your health insurance you want someone. I am reaching out to my insurance as well, so they know how much of a unprofessional company Express Scripts is. When I went in for my yearly physical my Dr sent in my scripts for the year. They called me from express and said they needed to update my payment info, I questioned this and I said I only order my scripts when I need them. I told her I knew what was going on that this happened last year when my dr sent in my yearly scripts (they want to fill them right away).
She wouldn't tell me the names of the scripts either.... So I told her that I didn't need anything sent at this time. You would think they would only be able to fill scripts with in a certain time frame, and I have just recently filled them. A few days later these 2 scripts came in the mail. $265 worth. I called and said I didn't order them and they said they would send me a return envelope to return them. I questioned if that was legal (which I see in different post here that they won't let people return their scripts). Long story short....1 month later and several very long drawn out phone calls, and talking with disrespectful "supervisors" I still have not got anything resolved. Even though they listened to the voice message that says that I didn't want them to send this.
I contacted my credit card and now they have started a claim against Express. Sounds to me like a very two sided company. I have better things to do with my time than deal with incompetent people. Great at twisting their stories. Should have been a fiction author instead of Express Scripts employees! It's sad I have to write another country as a 21 year veteran of the armed forces here in the USA...but it seems my country does not care enough about me and my family to help us live a normal life. My wife is suppose to have a trip starting on the 11th of Nov, to get an award for her hard work...She will not be able to go because of this issue....bottom line...it's all about profit...not the patient. I would truly like to know...is Express Scripts and Tricare ran by the Mob...because it truly seems like this profit train is making many rich...and making anyone enrolled frustrated because we did what was needed, we make our payments...and yet they do everything to keep you ill or locked up.

Updated on 11/19/2020: I was able to have my insurance company call on my behalf and get me a manager. They are having billing look over this. Still not resolved but hopeful that it will be. Still waiting. So I may know more within a week.
Original review: I wasn't having too many problems the first year I used express scripts but that changed. I guess something bounced and I then owed them money. I didn't know I owed them money since it didn't show I owed any money. I paid for my scripts ahead of time and still received my insulin and test strips. Then I was notified of the discrepancy and my husband paid it, over a year ago. I was able to get my prescriptions again and now they are saying I didn't pay it. This is $100, $70 for past due and $30 charge. Now they want me to pay it again. I can't get detailed receipts of my transactions with them. I don't know what to do. Customer service is rude. I asked them to talk to my husband since he made the payment and he is listed as a care provider for me on my account. Nope. So they just keep repeating what they want to and that's the end if it.
Now I'm almost out of supplies and they refuse to work with me. Instead they want me to to pay an additional $100 on top of my $140 order. I also pay Top dollar because I have an insulin pump and my test strips aren't in their list and their generic insulin burns at the site, so I have to get insulin that isn't on their list too. I've been dealing with this issue. I emailed them last night asking for something in detail to show all my transactions with them. So I will wait and see. Not too happy. I've been scraping by to make it through. I offered to pay the $100 in two parts along with paying the $140 for my prescriptions up front, no can do. It's like talking to a wall. So I swear this dispute was taken care of over a year ago and I have received prescriptions since and they then decide out of nowhere I owe it again. Mind you I haven't ordered and l wish my employer had alternatives.

My insurance requires that I fill prescriptions through Express Scripts and its approved retail network (or else the amount I pay skyrockets.) In the past - at least through March 2020 - I was able to click on, view, and print-to-PDF my invoices when I paid for a medication, just like I would with CVS or another pharmacy. I went on the site today to save my invoice for my FSA filing and for my tax receipts and discovered that there is now no way to view my invoices. I went on the chat service to speak with a representative and ask where I could access my invoices, and the woman told me that Express Scripts would not provide me a copy of the invoices or my paid receipts.
I'm flabbergasted at the obfuscation of my payment and withholding of information and don't know how this is even legal. I have no idea what to do now other than try to find another pharmacy and then, of course, have to pay more. The behavior of this company is greedy and reprehensible; why else would they deliberately obscure payment information from the consumer and withhold personal data?

I've had multiple terrible experiences with Acredo / Express Scripts, and came here to check reviews from others, it seems I'm not alone. When there is ANY change, renewed prescription, change in healthcare provider, change in delivery location, it has consistently been handled with incredibly poor results on the part of the consumer (Me). Multiple phone calls and conversations never seem to accomplish anything other than cause aggravation and discontent to both parties. Would not recommend to anyone ever. I need to learn from my own experience and find a new pharmacy coverage. The agents on the phone typically do not have knowledge of previous actions or state they don't understand why something was done or not done previously. While I don't blame the agents it is frustrating that they don't seem to have any more control over a given issue than I do, and I'm calling them for the help!

My husband has been on ** for several years. He went to refill his meds last week and was told that Express Scripts needed authorization from our doctor. It has been filled before and now he is on week two of having no medicine to control diabetes. To my knowledge there is no physician prescribing medications at Express Scripts yet they feel they have the right to deny a patient life saving medications that they have previously filled. Every time we try to fill this medication, even though several others have been tried, they deny it for weeks on end until the our family physician argues with them to fill it. We have this problem both at our local pharmacy and through mail order. I am required by my employer to use this business for medications. In my opinion they are not happy until they kill someone.

I am forced to get my prescriptions from Express Scripts as I have Tricare Prime with Humana. If I try to get a prescription anywhere else, they will not pay for it. I waited as long as I could before transferring over because I was afraid of what I am struggling with now. One of my prescriptions has been "cancelled". They won't tell me who cancelled it or why but it was not my Dr. who cancelled it. They don't notify you either- you have to find out when you don't get your Rx and you are out of medication. Another time, when I went on their site, one of my prescriptions was listed as "denied" by my Dr. I called and they said it wasn't denied but they were out of it. So why not just say that? Apparently they have this policy that anything they consider a "controlled drug" cannot be auto refilled. Controlled drugs tend to be narcotics and stimulants. ** is not listed as a controlled drug by the DEA but according to Express Scripts it is.
So long story short, I am out of a medication that they said was cancelled. My Dr knows nothing about the medication being "cancelled". It is not anywhere near a controlled substance- it is a blood pressure medication. They routinely "forget" that I have a prescription or deny that they ever heard of it, call a non controlled substance a controlled substance and in general lie to the consumer calling a prescription denied because they are out of it.
I am so upset that I contacted my Senator. He wants to investigate. I have asked twice for them to send me a release of information so that he is able to do just that. No release. That's ok though because I am a therapist and I know how to create one. I will make my own and send it to my Senator. Thank God open enrollment is next month. I am going to sign up with John's Hopkins. They use Wallgreens for prescription delivery. The reviews for Wallgreens on this site is vastly different than Express Scripts. It is really sad that they choose to treat Veterans and their families with so little respect that they can't even do the basics of their job.

This has been the worst Rx provider I've ever had to deal with on very straight forward Rx. In past 2 weeks, I had to go in for a ER surgery and after surgery was provided Rx that I was unable to pick-up so a family member went. It couldn't be filled as my pharmacist advised there is a problem and blocked by Express Scripts requiring a phone call. Still coming out of anesthesia and other pain medicines from the day of the surgery, I was in no position to make this call. Forced to call the very next day, I was advised the doctor had to call Express Scripts to answer a few questions. I advised of my ER surgery and in great need of the Rx to reduce the great pain I was in. After much debate, come to find out it was such an easy fix to reduce the length of time from my doctor's recommendation from 8 days to 7 days which I approved myself. Unbelievable!
Then yet another recent block of a Rx needed to treat a very common diagnosis requiring call to Express Scripts. Called and was advised again the doctor needs to call them to go over a few questions. My inquiry to the unpleasant representative was " is it not clear what this Rx is used for treatment as I'm not a medical professional yet just goggle it and there is the diagnosis for use." She advised that I would have to call my pharmacy to inquire about what the Rx is used for in treatment. Worst Rx company I have ever had in my lifetime. If I was provided a choice to decide on my Rx company then would never choose this one. Unfortunately, I have no choice but to use them per my employer's choice to partner with them.

None of them know what they are doing. I finally got a supervisor name Courtney for more that 2hrs, she review it on Sept 1st and she apologized and open claim# **. She stated the claim shouldn’t be closed before they reimburse the payment. I am happy at least finally someone can read and Understand what is going on and she guarantee I should receive my money back. Today after 45 min phone call with the A supervisor who have no idea what she is talking rather trying to convince me “it is not guarantee to get my money back or maybe I should submit a claim again and or also I can Reach out to the local pharmacy about my claim”. I ask to speak with Courtney who knows what she does but they refuse to give me her # or transfer me. What a mess. I have to tell this supervisor over and over again to to read the note from the Sept 1st conversation for the 5th times to understanding about what is going on (I Literally have tell her how to do her job) then that is when she apologize and told she see the note me. It will take 72 hr to review and have someone call me back 72 hr?
It has been 3 month since and 17 days since the 2nd claim opened? Express Script must be so proud of theirs well trained employees and customer service team. I have to change my insurance before I get a heart attack and my hair turn gray. For GOD sake, nobody have 2 hr to explain the same thing over and over again. All I want is to get my was back.

I am beyond frustrated with this so-called company! 2 out of 3 times denied medications!! At this moment my husband has a broken toe and a bone sticking out of top of his foot. Doctor prescribes either a gel or patch for the pain. It needs a 72 hour pre-authorization, AFTER, Dr. sends in prescription request, before he can receive any pain medication-frustrating in itself. Of course, both medications are denied because supposedly this medication is only for back pain/arthritis pain. So, I ask if there is an alternative and Express Scripts has no idea and has to call the pharmacy. Pharmacist says no alternative. Rep. tells me to have Dr. appeal denial! REALLY? Go through that entire process for a topical anti-inflammatory pain gel? Do doctors not know what they are prescribing anymore, but the insurance companies do?
1st denial - my 12 year old son, who has allergic hive reaction to body temp rise is prescribed the Epi Pen, in case of an emergency - DENIED! Too bad if he has a deadly allergic reaction one day! So we don't have the best insurance and we don't have the worst (so I thought). We definitely pay enough every month to not have to go through these frustrations when we are in pain or have a medical issue. In all my years, all my insurances, HMO, PPO, even state insurance etc. have never, ever had this issue with medication approval. It makes me scared when, God forbid, we really, really need it, like after a surgery or something horrible. And other reviews I've read, people who really need meds, can't get them, so sad! So, if you have a choice, stay far away from this company and if you see it on an insurance plan, be prepared to fight some battles and probably not win!

The service is absolutely horrible, the only thing worse is their customer service who take a condescending tone then wonder why you get rude with them. Their FAQ say they process prescription request in 48-hours, routinely it takes over 7 full days to process the requests. I have had several occasions where I have run out of medicine while waiting for them to ship my medication. I have also had requests cancelled with with no explanation or reason. I have had medication changed and canceled a refill, but it was still sent and I was still charged. They sent me a new pack but it wouldn’t arrive for a week so my options were go a week without my medication or pay out of pocket (about $100) for my meds. A week later the replacement pack still had not arrived so I called again, according to Express Scripts I denied it and it was returned to them. I did not deny it.
The worker stated there was absolutely nothing she could do to help me until they received the prescription back. I elevated my issue to a supervisor out of complete frustration. That supervisor advised I could get my prescription at a local pharmacy free of charge. That was not the case. Express scripts representatives called my phone several times persuading me to transfer the medications that weren't already required to be filled through them. At first I was reluctant and after a while being that I don't drive, I did ask the dr to order the meds through them. 2 of which were considered "controlled". The very first fill wasn't even processed until 6 days estimated left. Started processing today on a Monday, was told it wouldn't be Shipped until this Friday, suggested I pay for 2 day shipping so I did only to tell me it wouldn't actually arrive until the following Wednesday. 5 days after it was due. Now had I originally went with the free standard, I'd have been 7 -10days after the fill date.
Called the call center, was told they were "sorry" nobody mentioned that to me during the transfer process and that maybe future orders would be best filled through a local Walgreens. I explained that that wasn't an option for RIGHT now, so what did they plan to do. She said she sent a "message asking for escalated processing" but no promises. Then proceeds to go back through the fill history and mention I got them a day or 2 early each month for the last few months and I should have plenty. Which when that count is included it is STILL is the 6 days. So not only am I being completely inconvenienced, I was treated as if I was hoarding the medicine or something.
Last month my birth control THAT IS REQUIRED to be filled through them, was shipped on July 24th. I did not receive it until AUGUST 20th. I tried emailing and contacting them and of course same run around. This is so not worth the headache. By the end of the day, I have had more issues trying to get my medication than I ever did just going to local pharmacy month to month. They are never on time, and never care when you call. The call center never has the same solution as the supervisor that gets on the phone after having no successful outcome with the initial customer service rep. They act like the pharmacy is a whole different area & all they do is take the calls. So why are you answering then? Why aren't these calls directed straight to the pharmacy.
So as of right now, I had a month of no birth control. No answers. And all I have for this current rx due, is a" heads up "that my next prescription will be 5 days late...maybe, maybe only 1. Shipping dates an estimate but, probably more than likely 5, but then again she doesn't know for sure???? This company is running in circles and doesn't care as long as they are getting paid and can get you to get your prescriptions to them instead of the local pharmacy. Support the local pharmacy and pay a bit more to get your medications on time.

The following review has nothing to do with the representatives and pharmacists at the company; they were very nice and helpful. My employer uses BCBS, because of this I have to use Express Scripts for medication. I have been taking the same medication for 12 years; it was always previously covered under my insurance policies. I had my doctor send in a refill for this prescription on July 28. I made the account with Express Scripts and added my card information to the account that day. On August 10, I received an email stating that my order was cancelled due to not having a form of payment available (but the card information was still on the account).
I called the company and spoke with the nicest people (not sarcasm, they were very nice and helpful), I explained the situation and notified them that I only had 14 days left before I needed this refill at my door. During this phone call, I discovered that the insurance does not cover my medication and I will have to pay full price for them. The representative and pharmacist I spoke with both took time out of their day to actually try and help me find alternatives to the medication that the plan would cover, but we were unfortunately unsuccessful. I then personally validated that the card on the account (which they clearly saw was there because she read the card number to me) was indeed my card and correct, and gave them permission to charge the card for the medication, and had a new order placed, all on August 10.
On August 14, I received another email informing me that my account did not contain payment information and that my refill was about to be cancelled AGAIN. I spoke with another representative (also very friendly), and again verified the card on the account (that information was still there, and they could see it) and authorized them to charge it for the medication. I now need my refill in 7 days, my card was charged on August 14 for the full amount of the medication, I guess that is progress. But it has not shipped so I will not have my refill available when I need it. I would also like to add, that each time I looked at the account between July 28 and August 15, the balance is still at $0, but now I have a credit that will supposedly be applied to the refill.

This company is the worst pharmacy/company any insurance or business could use. My current insurance requires me to use this company for my biologic medication. From the beginning, the representatives from this company have no idea what is going on within a patient's situation. Especially when you have a savings plan that works side-by-side with your insurance coverage.
My second issue with this company, which is the worst I could ever imagine. My savings card which made my co-pay $5 most months was reflected in their app. Mind you, numerous reps from this company officially told me that they don't know what is covered until after the run the medication through their processes, so the co-pay is ESTIMATED. The recent refill, as I noticed after delivery, listed the "estimated" co-pay as $4800. I thought it was just because their system didn't run the savings card. I applied for the refill more than a week before delivery.
In all this time, they didn't run the insurance or savings card until after I received delivery. When I got delivery, I notice the price again... I called them. The rep didn't run the savings plan and so she did it during our call, again which was after delivery. Then, she tells me the savings plan is maxed out and I still owe $3600. I cannot afford the medication at this point. But, the reps tell me I'm responsible because they gave me an "estimated" co-pay, which was still inaccurate at the beginning.
Had I known that the savings plan was maxed out and I still owed thousands of dollars, I would have never refilled the medication. They tell me that I'm responsible for keeping track of what the savings plan gives me but they do not give me an accounting of the what payment they take from that savings plan. I tell them I want to return the medication and tell me that they can't return it. WHY ON GOD'S GREEN EARTH WOULDN'T THE COMPANY RUN THE INSURANCE AND SAVINGS PLAN BEFORE DELIVERY OF THE MEDICATION?!! If the previous bills were $5 and suddenly the amount is thousands of dollars higher, why wouldn't you call the patient and make sure they could make that payment? Why does the patient have to be responsible for their computer processes.
If I go to Walgreens, or any normal pharmacy, and if the prescription is more than I can afford, they make me aware of it before I get the prescription! In the case of Accredo, I have blindly rely on a company and it's procedures to make sure payment is properly processed BEFORE accepting the medication - and I'm failed by this money-grubbing company! For whatever good this might do for the next person, my recommendation is to talk to your businesses and insurances to NOT USE THIS PHARMACY!

Blue Cross Blue Shield is my insurance company. They contract with Express Scripts to manage my prescriptions. In April 2020 I met my max out-of-pocket expense amount. Since then ES has been screwing with me and I’ve had to continue paying for prescriptions when I should be paying zero $$. They ignore the info provided them by BCBS, and fail to respond to requests for help from myself and BCBS. This is not what I’m paying a high insurance premium for! I blame both companies for lack of correction and solution.

They make a mistake and the customer pays for it. This has happened to me twice now with Express Scripts, in addition to the multiple inconveniences created by their system. The first time, the wrong medication was sent and when I let them know I was told it could not be returned and I had to pay the $150 if I wanted to continue using mail order. Needless to say, I stopped using that service. Unfortunately, my insurance company now requires us to use Express Scripts for maintenance medications so I was forced to use them again. In short time another mistake was made for which I am being penalized-there was no invoice with my order and I had just paid them, apparently for another medication, so I thought my balance was zero. Thus, with no invoice, I made no additional payment. Now our medications will not be sent until I pay in advance, slowing down delivery time and creating another inconvenience.
And to make matters worse, today I went online to pay in advance for my most recent order and it said my balance was zero! I had to call to get the balance. Again, all of this because Express Scripts made a mistake. Good customer service is more than having nice representatives, which they are, it’s about accountability and taking responsibility for your mistakes. Had that happened, this would be a very different review.

They then send you something you did not request and that was mistakenly sent to the wrong pharmacy by your provider (it's easy to make that mistake - I'm a provider - it's crazy trying to get multiple refills done at a appointment when some go local, some mail order - and at an annual you just make sure they have enough refills for the year - they may not need it yet.) Yet they then tell you they can't do anything about it. They apparently "can't" notify me before sending so I cancel - "can't" make it so I have to request it (though same agreement states web/app - you go in and request a med/refill). They just tell you that your provider sending it counts as a request.
I can tell you how hectic it can be for a provider - and how easy it is to send a med to the wrong pharmacy the way a lot of computers are set up. I can choose not to pick up a prescription and not get charged at a pharmacy. It seems unfortunate (or maybe just a way for another big company to make more money at our expense) not to have the same choice. Unfortunately, most insurances offer substantial savings (most the time - has to be the right quantity/med, etc) to use mail order. So then I'm stuck - I either go in monthly locally (limited hours-small town pharmacy), pay more in copays, or save hopefully overall but get screwed if something is sent to the wrong pharmacy or if a provider does the responsible thing and sends refills in - or they have to take extra time and write to hold until requested on EVERY prescription. Come on - providers are busy enough.

They do not have direct lines either so you cannot talk to the same person if you have to call back. It’s always someone new. Very frustrating!!

I submitted a request to have a refrigerated RX be filled through them because that is what they require after two fills from a local pharmacy which is Walgreens who they have the Walgreens 90 day thing with. This was on July 12th. July 16 I check via my phone and it said processing and no shipment date was given. I check via PC Friday because I realize that I have to take my weekly dose this past Sunday and still have not received my order that is temperature-sensitive. I received so many different explanations and answers from their customer service people. I told them several times that I was out. They made no attempt to cover the med so I could pick it up at Walgreens. So much more went on... Skipping ahead to today.
They told me to contact my Dr who was closed Friday to tell them to approve the request they sent. I asked my Dr to do it and ask them why they didn't approve the request. My Dr said they didn't get the request. I asked Express Scripts to verify the Dr and they have sent my RX and my Personal Information to some place else in Kansas. Even after my Dr sent in a new RX, I still have to wait till the end of the week instead of them doing the right thing and making an exception to get my meds from Walgreens... Did I mention this was a RX that has to be refrigerated.

The delivery person tossed them on the front steps of the apartment building where I lived. I called and asked them to cancel my auto refill. I have had issues with Express Scripts since we were forced to move to this prescription system. We (the family) have been using this provider for the last 3 years. Getting established with them was a painful experience for the first 6 months and then they leveled off and were pretty consistent with few glitches here and there. I would award them with a 3 star (that being generous). Customer service and getting back to the customer is a major flaw in their organization. With that as a back drop I would like to move onto Acredo their specialty pharmacy.
I was placed on a specialty drug that had been supplied by other specialty pharmacies but forced to move to Acredo. Most specialty drug prescriptions also come with the Pharma's Payment Assist program. This specific drug did. Since I began this drug 4 doses ago I have had to call and reintroduce the Payment Assist information. Each time I do they say that the information is "in another file" and cannot see it and I patiently give them the information again. All that to say: I received a call from Express Scripts billing department indicating that I was in arrears for payment (and a substantial amount).
We had a pleasant conversation and when she learned it was Acredo she had to transfer me to a Billing Specialist (everything at Acredo must be special since it is a specialty pharmacy). I asked her to please stay on the line till we were connected (I have learned that Express Scripts conveniently drops calls when they do not want to speak with you, thats my impression).
I was connect to a very pleasant billing specialist and we (after a while) came the the conclusion this lack of payment was for:1. My April Dose - for which I spent considerable amount of time with Express Scripts, the Drug Ambassador and the Pharma Payment Assist Program person.
2. My June does was paid for expect for 5 bucks which is my normal copay.
3 Was informed that this was their internal error in their software and that they would re-bill the Pharma Payment Assist Program. This had to go up the management ladder for this to be resolved.
Observation:1. They do not communicate between billing department and Pharmacy.
2. Why didn't they just re-bill instead of wasting the collection/billing departments time and my time?
3. How do you have a glitch in the software and not call to correct the problem?
4. This was over 60 days old and it's the first I have heard of it.
Conclusion:1. I was promised by the billing specialist that they would reach back out to me when they found out what was happening. I am betting I never hear from them and I will let you all know.
2. This is the hand we are dealt and we have to make the best of it dealing with companies that do not care about the person just the process. A local pharmacist would never treat clients the way we are treated.
3. Lastly: I did a survey of all the reviews since the beginning of the year of 2020 up to June 16, 2020 and look at this out if 145 reviews:
5 star reviews - 1
4 star reviews - 0
3 star reviews - 0
2 star reviews - 3
1 star reviews - 141
That's gotta tell you and Express Scripts something.... Have a great day everyone!

The point of using a mail order pharmacy is to make life simpler. As I separate my pills I realize that one prescription is running out a month before the others. I found no way to discuss anything online, so I called them. First I told them that I had searched their site but could not find any way online to choose to not received the child-proof caps. Well, there isn't any way online. But, of course, they don't mention anything about child-proof caps online. I then asked about the shorted pills on one of my six prescriptions. They didn't even know what to tell me. Wait on the phone. Transferred finally to a third person who tells me that I had to have notified them within sixty days. I pointed out that not only does that sound absurd, but I am within sixty days of when the order arrived.
I also mentioned that I was looking at my Invoice and online and that nowhere does it say that you have to report shortages within sixty days. Her response was that I had to notify them within 60 days of the date they say they shipped the order. I complained and asked for a supervisor. The fact that mail is much slower because of Covid-19 didn't matter to her. The fact that they have no notice anywhere that you are limited in time to inform them of a shorted order got no response. I pointed out that the point of mail order is to make life easier, not more difficult. No response. So, it seems that it time to switch to Costco and avoid Express Scripts. Also, when I can change my Medicare Part-D provider, I will have to avoid Cigna since they now own Express Scripts.

Initially, I thought getting my medication by mail through Express Scripts would be a great benefit. I am a senior. However, this company has proven to be a nerve-wracking disaster for the following reasons: After my discharge from the hospital and upon applying for my medications to be sent to me by mail, through Express Scripts, I reviewed all the medications I was taking over and over again. Prior to that, I was not taking medication on a routine basis. I also informed the pharmacist about all the medications I no longer was taking over and over again. My primary doctor gave me a prescription for one medication, and the specialist gave me a prescription for 3 medications. All were for 90 days. Simple, 4 medications for 90 days each. I received the (4) 90 day prescriptions; however, oddly enough, I also received 30 day refills for the same (4) medications,
This was medication duplication during for the same period. Therefore, I was mailed and charged 180 days medication for each of the 4 medications for the same 90 day period.. Excessive medication. What if it were an addictive drug? After this experience and enduring the aggravation of straightening out the excessive medication now in my possession, I experienced a haunting for refills, directly AFTER they mailed the second 90 days of medication. I would follow up by calling my physicians alerting them that I needed my medication refills, only to find the medication was in the mailbox. I emailed Express Scripts requesting that they stop harassing me with daily flooding emails for medication currently in my possession and not yet taken. In addition, I don't know what to do with the extra medications.
What finally blew my cap? They filled another medication that I specifically informed them I no longer was taking. I warned them in advance not to send ** (a nose spray) to me. Guess what? They mailed it anyway and charged me over $40.00. If I let this abuse continue they will have card blanch with my charge card. It has been a daily, nerve-wracking affair dealing with this company for 90 days. Express Scripts made a reservation in my head! If you are a senior you may also experience identity theft. Why? They always ask for your social security number, date of birth, etc. and some seniors need assistance to clear up this on-going incompetency in the presence of strangers. Any home attendant or persons assisting you can get your personal information easily.
Today when attempting to solve the problem and requesting a refund, and directions on how to return the ** to Express Scripts, once I receive the nose spray, today, Tuesday, June 2nd, 2020, the pharmacist hung up on me. Trust me! If you don't want to think Express Scripts 24/7 365, do not use this service. Go to your local pharmacy and spare yourself the stress. As a senior, my experience with Express Scripts is nerve-wracking, emotionally disturbing and if a senior is up in age...they are probably being robbed and stressed to their deaths. It is a guaranteed stressful experience that could land you in the psycho ward. Who needs that? You'll end up taking medication for your nerves or killing yourself from an overdose of medication. You think this is a done deal and life will be easy...THINK AGAIN AND BUYER BEWARE!

They can never just process a script; for example, if I want auto-refills (have it for a 3 mos supply from my healthcare provider)...for whatever reason they can't process payment. Recently I called (which takes forever and is voice automated) and the customer care representative (very nice) didn't know why my script couldn't process. There was no outstanding balance, she took payment, and I still haven't received the script. I had one at my local grocery store, so I just filled it through them. Not only did he do that he sent them studies of my particular situations benefits from a medication with no side effects. The prescription that Express Scripts wanted me to take does have side effects and no more benefits. But I’m assuming Express Scripts is in bed with the medication their pushing. In two situations My doctor has went through the procedure of filling out their forms to no avail. Depending on who you get on the phone with at Express Scripts you will get different answers, most of which are not at all helpful and the claim is that they can't do anything else about it. I've been out of state suffering from a severe case of bronchitis and was told they could give me the $7.37 medication for $33. I ended up paying $7.37 and left the pharmacy confused as to why my Rx is less expensive when I don't use Express Scripts!?
This company makes no sense and their staff do not have a clue as to how to twist their lies back to the consumer because none of their responses are even consistent. We had our prescriptions changed over when the new copays went into effect. Let me tell you, saving money is not worth it if you are continually month after month without your prescriptions.
The straw that broke the camel’s back was my husband’s prescription for a controlled substance that was due to be refilled ten days ago. When I could see on the website that it hadn’t been filled yet I called four days ago to ask that it be escalated and explained that he was out of his medication. They told me four days ago that it would be filled immediately and overnighted. Guaranteed to be delivered Monday, no later than Tuesday which is today. I checked today to see if it was being delivered. The website said it hadn’t been filled yet. I called again and was told by a supervisor that it was filled today and was given a FedEx tracking number. Checked Fedex and was told it wasn’t a valid number.
I called and asked for a supervisor who told me that it was actually a postal tracking number and it hasn’t been picked up yet and it’s going out regular mail for some reason (with an “oh well” tone in her voice). She also told me I should call my doctor and tell her to send in another prescription to somewhere else and get it filled faster. Unbelievable. If Express Scripts sees this review you should call me. I recorded every call and have notes of everyone I spoke to. Amazon should get a prescription drug service. They are so much better than Express Scripts.

Original Review: This morning I received from Express Scripts (ES). They claim my wife's balance on her account has not been paid and they can't send her prescriptions until they receive a payment. On 4/6/2020, I mailed a check for $128.00, then on 4/27/2020, I mailed another check for $60.00. Now in the phone call this morning ES said my wife's account had a balance of $189.00, and can't send anything until payment is received. Before all checks were mailed to AZ and the check turnover was very slow. I called them and they explained that they were switching the billing office to Chicago to expedite the process. So far since 4/6/2020 all checks mailed to Chicago have not been processed. After I explained this to the person on the phone this morning and gave them the check #'s and amounts, and they released my wife's meds. I end with why can't ES receive and process the checks I send?

I have been forced by my insurance to use Express Scripts. 7 years now it has been nothing but a nightmare, run as fast as you can. Most of the time it's like not even having insurance unless you want call Multiple Times every time you need to fill a prescription locally and have it paid for by your insurance, also I have called 3 times about the same problem and assured each call that it was taken care of just to have to call again and get a different answer. This company is terrible to deal with anymore. I just pay the full price for my prescription rather than having to deal with express scripts. Then at the end of your call if you had a good call with them they will ask you to take a survey. If they were rude to you and were of no help to you then they will hang up on you with no survey. Go figure. Express scripts have been nothing but trouble for me since I was forced to use them.

I get my insurance through Blue Cross Blue Shield via my corporate insurance. They recently switched to Express Scripts. When I went to pick up my prescription I was charged 4x what I have paid in the past. I called express scripts to try and figure out what was going on, as other people have said, they basically told me I had to switch to Walgreens to pay less, so I did that. Then when I went to pick up at the Walgreens. They said it was the same price. I called express scripts again. Was put on hold, was hung up on multiple times, had one agent on the phone who couldn’t even explain my plan and then transferred me to a customer service agent who was impossible to understand, put me on hold and hung up on me again. I was told I’m only allowed to fill my long time prescription twice for the year via express scripts, but it is a long term RX that you cannot go cold turkey on.
This company is putting people’s lives at risk and should be liable for anyone who has major health issues due to their negligence. I don’t have a choice but to continue dealing with them, but will be calling blue cross blue shield and my Corp to explain that express scripts is absolutely negligent, horrible and that they are putting people’s lives at risk as a result. Do NOT use them if you have a choice in the matter.

Updated on 05/04/2020: It's beneficial to the readers to understand the magnitude of dysfunction at this company BY DESIGN. So, I'll be writing a review every time I have a communication with Accredo so that every level dysfunction is documented. Today, I called them to request a refund for the fourth phone call relating to this issue. Originally, I paid $2000 via credit card back in February. They refunded part of it but not all of it. So I'm still playing collection agency with my own money. I have to wait 3-5 business days for this refund. Let's see if it goes off without a hitch. Last time, last month, they shorted me $500.
Original Review: I could rant about the bureaucracy of this company. I, frankly, think that it's intentional. Consider, that the less medicine that the pharmacy provides to the consumer, the less money the insurance companies have to pay annually. That's why I have to use Accredo, because my insurance company requires me. So all of the delays and pitfalls that I experience every single month are by design. The all-time worst experience that I relive every month.

Express Scripts has been nothing but a pain since we signed up 2 years ago. I continually have to go back to doctor and refill something even though it clearly has refills. Their systems and the integration of the Doctors' systems obviously have issues. Today when I called in AGAIN to have this resolved, I get an agent who is obviously eating on the call, mouth full of food crunching and smacking her lips, and blaming the doctor who needs to give refill, BUT doctor sent it yesterday. I confirmed with Doctor, and this happens EVERY 90 Days. The whole system is a joke. It's the government ran Medical care at its absolute WORST!
We hope your issue was resolved. If you still need assistance or if you need anything in the future, please feel free to email ExpressRxHelp@express-scripts.com or reply to this message. We are here for you.-Stephanie

I have had ES for two years now for Medicare Rx services. From the beginning, upon signing up there have been nothing but mistakes and issues made repeatedly. I have spent countless hours and hours on the phone correcting their errors. They couldn’t’ even get my account sign up correctly. I should have bailed then and believe me I am so sorry that I didn’t. It’s clear very early on that ES doesn’t cover much of anything. My latest battle with them is over ** nasal spray for $2.37, they refuse to cover it even though it has been prescribed by my ENT doctor.
The latest dilemma, I have been working with Express Scripts for a month to get an Rx by the name of **, again prescribed by my doctor. I was told that I needed a an preauthorization form. My doctor’s office sent one to no avail and a second one. Finally, after many, many phone calls of 30 to 50 minutes each they tell me that it has been approved and that the copay is zero. I check my Visa card this morning and there is a charge for $62.50 for this drug that I was told was covered with no copayment. After another 20 minutes of talking to another unintelligent CSR I talked to a supervisor and she tells me that it is a Tier 3 drug and that I have to meet the deductible first. After a month of trying to get this filled and approved you think someone would have mentioned this. I even spoke to the Pharmacist and she also said there was no copay for **, the generic that was supposed to replace **.
I told the supervisor to cancel the order and that for $67 I could get ** from CVS. Then I had to endure another 5 minutes of her explaining that she would try to cancel but couldn’t’ guarantee it. I’ve already called my bank and they will remove the charge because I did not approve. My doctor’s office can’t believe how incompetent and difficult Express Scripts is to deal with. Also, I got a bill from them in the mail a couple of days ago so I call again only to find out that my automatic billing for some odd reason has been changed or deleted. So I have to speak another idiot who does not have a good command of the English language to set this up again. She keeps asking me if it’s ok to set this up. Really, how stupid are these people?
They are without a doubt the worst company I have ever dealt with and there’s never any improvement. Today on the phone the supervisor said she would submit a complaint about this last issue. I told her, "Why bother, it won’t do any good." Read many of the negative reviews and save yourself the headache of dealing with one of the worst company’s in America. I’ve had enough of these idiots; I will change my Rx plan today.

It's gotten so bad that we routinely check services like GoodRx before we fill a new prescription. Our local pharmacy is so much more efficient! If it was positive I would rate this a zero or a negative number. This is the absolute worst company anyone could ever deal with, the employees and managers are incompetent of their jobs. I have gastritis which is inflammation of the lining of my stomach, I have to take medicine to help with acid. There is only one medicine that works for me, Express Scripts denied coverage saying it wasn’t under my plan but I could appeal the decision. My doctor's office was in contact with the company on 1/21/20 and appealed the decision, Express Scripts told them it was denied and my doctor's office needed to send in a letter to appeal for a 2nd time. My doctor wrote a detail letter and faxed this in on 1/23/20, both my doctor & I never heard anything back.
So on 2/4/20 I called the company back at the appeals phone number and the representative told me that my plan does not allow a 2nd appeal and that for the first appeal the letter my doctor submitted on 1/23/20 was used to decline. I didn’t receive a letter or anything in the mail regarding this decision. That representative went on to tell me that I should call my plan (insurance company) and I can ask my insurance company to process a 2nd appeal. I called my insurance and was advised that it is Express Scripts that is to complete the 2nd appeal and gave me the same appeals number I had been calling since 1/21/20. My doctor faxed in ANOTHER letter as per Express Scripts request to complete a 2nd appeal. The letter was sent in on 2/6/20. My doctor's office called Express Scripts on 2/10/20 to get a status update and was told that the fax wasn’t even looked at yet.
I called on 2/13/20. Was advised that the faxed was received and review started on 2/11/20, I advised that the letter was faxed in on 2/6/20, the representative advised that she saw that, I advised that I have been trying to get this appealed since 1/21/20 and asked for the review to be expedited and she advised she would. I did not hear anything back so I called on 2/20/20 and spoke with manager Michelle, she advised me that the review has to be completed by an external company. She apologized and told me she didn’t know what I had to send to that company but gave me that company's number to call. I called this company which is located in St. Louis, MO.
After calling that company and being hung up on 3 times I get on the phone with a manager Abigail whom was extremely hateful and told me that this company has nothing to do with the appeals process and that it is express scripts appeals department that is to complete the 2nd appeals. I requested to speak with her manager to figure out what I needed to do because she was not listening to my concern & interrupting me. She kept telling me I needed to call Express Scripts appeals and repeating the same phone number I had called before calling her. She said the manager doesn’t work night hours and she said she would have the manager call me, I never received a call. On 2/24/20 someone from express scripts called me telling me that a form was sent to my doctor's office and mailed to me to sign to consent to a 2nd appeal review.
I went into my doctor's office on 2/25/20 and signed this document and my doctor's office faxed this back on 2/25/20 around 4:30pm cst. I called Express Scripts on 2/26/20 and spoke with a representative to confirm that the fax was received and it was sent to the appropriate external company. I advised of the date and time it was sent. I was told everything was sent over and told me that express scripts has no access to the external company and the representative was not sure how I would know what the decision was (I.e. approved or denied) maybe by mail and maybe in 15 days. I had not heard anything back so I called back today 3/11/20 express scripts today to find someone that had access to contact this phantom external company.
Representative Scott told me he doesn’t know what is going on with my case and he doesn’t have a phone number for the external company. However, you know what option Scott provided me to do? He said he would give me the company's name and I can google to find a phone number. So Scott wants a patient to google a company and pray they call the right place & give out their personal information? That has to be the craziest suggestions I have ever heard from a company. I asked him to send me to a manager, he asked me to hold, I was on hold for about 3 minutes and he came back on and said is there anything else he can help with, I said, "Yes send me to your manager as requested." I am put back on hold for 5 minutes, Raquel is the manager and when I was trying to explain my situation I was continuously being interrupted. Raquel kept telling me that I had to send in that signature page that was sent to me on 2/21/20.
When I was finally allowed to speak I advised once again that my doctor faxed this in on 2/25/20 around 4:30pm cst, I was put on hold for about 5-10 minutes. Raquel returned back to the phone & said that they really had to dig to find it but now they can send this form to the external company to have a complete package to review. I advised I was under the impression on 2/26/20 that everything was submitted to that external company and under review, however, no Express Scripts sent my doctors letter to this company on 2/6/20 and failed to ever advise me or my doctor that I needed to sign a consent form. So my case has been sitting in La La Land since 2/6/20, the consent form that was faxed in on 2/25/20 was never submitted over either.
I was informed the review can take up to 45 days and now that express scripts realized they never sent the letter to them (15 days later) and will send it now and ask that the start date be back dated to reflect 2/25/20. So I have been waiting to get my medication approved for almost two months, being very sick from the acid in my stomach and Express Scripts drops the ball every time I call. This company is pathetic as the company is putting their patients at risk health wise, worse case for me is an ulcer. What if I had cancer or something worse?
I would never recommend this company and wish I knew who I could call to advise that the company as a whole needs training on everything. Common courtesy, ethics, customer relations and anything in between. I wish my insurance would get a different prescription company. On top of all of this I have only received communication from Express Scripts once via phone call on 2/24/20, I never received a letter or a follow up call.

The problem with Express Scripts is, when they call your doctor to refill a prescription and your doctor gets the prescription wrong, you are stuck with the medicine and the bill after it is sent to your house. However, if you go to Publix, Walgreens, or CVS, you still have the option of turning down your order if it's wrong, which will allow your doctor time to correct your prescription.

I've had so many bad experiences with them I don't even know where to begin. The more recent one, which might not seem a big deal, was that I've called to double check what shipping address they were sending my medicine to (home or work), and asked them to change it to my work since someone needs to sign to receive it and no one was going to be home. I was on the phone for over 10 min, explaining why I was doing that (running out of meds and couldn't afford to miss delivery), and after 3-4 trials the agent on the phone was able to get the correct address.
Fast forward 5 days (today) I've been out of medicine since yesterday (2 days), and I just checked and the medicine is being shipped to my home address, despite the phone call to confirm what address was being shipped to. There's no one home, which means the medicine is going to be available for pickup at the post office sometime tomorrow (3 days without medicine). Side note: This has happened 4 times in the last 3 years.
Another incident was that I was charged over $800 (yes, eight hundred) for a medicine that was wrongfully prescribed to me. After a long fight and countless phone calls, they decided to accept the medicine back and issued a credit back to my account. After a couple of months, this credit disappeared from my account, and I had to call them for close to six months to get this resolved. Supervisors would talk to me and say they would call me back, and never did. So every time I called I had to re-explain what was going on to a new person, just to have the same outcome. It was the worst customer experience ever, which ended up resulting in a lot of stress due to its prolonged duration. They simply do not care and will not follow up, you are on your own.
I've stopped using them for a while, and decided to give them another chance recently since they have a partnership with my workplace, only to be disappointed once again. Yes, they might be slightly cheaper, but the headache and stress are not worth it. I rather pay more and go to a local pharmacy then save a few $$ and endure this type of awful experience on a regular basis. NOT WORTH THE TROUBLE!!!!

The best part is, they do not give you the price until after the meds are already in the mail. Even though there is a button to remove your credit card from the site, it will not remove it after even after you have saved your changes. There is no way to cancel an order or delete your account online. They make it very difficult as you must wait on the phone for a long period of time to get in touch with a live person. However, as of 10 February 2020 regarding a renewal prescription (controlled substance) I've been taking for Narcolepsy since 2004, I've received nothing but frustrations, confusions, getting the run around, and as today, still no resolve. I've been out of this medication for 4 days and I'm greatly concerned about getting behind the wheel of my vehicle.
Walmart had the medication ready for pick up on 10 February 2020, but I told Walmart it is far more cost effective to fill with Express Scripts and they are currently filling the prescription (according to my online account.) How wrong that was of me to cancel Walmart's and trust Express Scripts. Express Scripts went even further and removed the medication so I couldn't ask Walmart pharmacy to transfer from Express Scripts and fill once again, even though I would pay 3 times more.
I should have used Walmart as I had since 2002. I've cried for 2 days, suffering from excessive uncontrollable sleepiness and have wild exhausting dreams without the medication. I'm wondering how many more days of this? I'm so exhausted and disappointed. I'm not sure I even care anymore, becoming very sad. My husband is leaving for Iraq in a few days, and I won't have anyone to drive me places I need to go. Guess I will be spending much on Uber if Express Scripts doesn't get it resolved? Or who will be at fault if my uncontrollable sleepiness causes a severe auto accident if I do decide to put myself behind a wheel of a vehicle?

I full time care give for one parent with Diabetes/Alzheimer's, the other parent with Parkinson's/Dementia plus work a full time job. I have to be pro active and when I was told I had to switch all mom's prescriptions to Express Scripts, of course I was proactive. I called the doctor and informed her of the change, she re-wrote all mom's prescriptions and sent them to Express Scripts. They immediately started blowing up my phone wanting to fill everything. I told them no, that I would call when a refill was needed. I called the middle of December to fill one of mom's insulins and it took four phone calls, with the pharmacist telling me once that I never called, to get it filled.
Regardless, she ran out and we had to drive to the pharmacy and pay out of pocket for one pen before the prescription arrived in January. I called in January to fill three prescriptions. I received one three weeks later. I called on the other two and they said the doctor needed to call. Seriously? I called the doctor, she asked why, they had all been sent in December, I called Express Scripts, they said something about instructions and on and on and back and forth. I don't have time for the continued phone calls and follow ups.
I told them to cancel the other two prescriptions, I wanted nothing more to do with Express Scripts since now mom was out of another of her prescriptions and I would have to pay out of pocket again and drive to pick it up. I might as well fill it at the pharmacy since I had to drive there anyway. One week later we received one of the prescriptions, so I had to call again to tell them to cancel all prescriptions. I love home delivery since I have to arrange for pick ups or have someone sit with my parents while I run. Express Scripts is a waste of my time and energy.

I have been forced to use Express Scripts due to my insurance coverage, they are by far the worst pharmacy I have ever had to deal with. They are rude, unreliable, and over priced. They do not auto fill, you have to call. They bill wrong amounts to wrong HSA cards and are totally unhelpful when you have an issue or a problem. They obviously do not care about their patients or their reputation. If I had my choice I would NEVER use them again.

I was told I would receive my medication quickly. (Medicine is time sensitive!!!) However, my medication was SHIPPED the day they said I would have my medication latest by! So I had to foot the bill and get it at a local pharmacy. Had I known it would’ve taken so long, I would’ve gone elsewhere in a heartbeat. And of course, they won't take any responsibility and still expect me to pay them; regardless of their shady business practices. I will never use this company and if you’re reading this, please consider not using it either.

Updated on 02/14/2020: After not receiving my life-saving inhalers for nearly two weeks, I finally got an email stating I needed to call them - apparently humans there are incapable of calling patients. After discussing with them at great length that it is unacceptable to delay delivery for this amount of time, they generously offered to overnight my meds. They did do this, however my inhalers FROZE in the back of the UPS truck and are now useless -- worst pharmacy ever. Had I been able to use a normal, local pharmacy, I would have had my three inhalers weeks ago for my SEVERE asthma, and they would not have been FROZEN in the back of a delivery truck. This pharmacy is useless - the only people they serve and save money for are themselves. Someone should be investigating them - this kind of lack of are should be against the law.
Original review: My pulmonologist sent prescriptions over on 2/3/2020 for critical inhalers. Express Scripts was apparently unable to process these three life saving meds so they used an AUTOMATED calling device to let me know- I NEVER received a call or message. They claim they sent a letter, I still haven't received it (it's now 2/13/2020). They finally sent an email telling me they needed me to call them, 10 days later. A human being never bothered to pick up the phone to call me about the medications that KEEP me alive. This company DOES not care about patients. It cares about making money and automating every part of their operation to DEHUMANIZE every aspect of patient care. This is pathetic. Does it "save us money" - I suppose, but as what total cost? A pharmacist is only available if you call and hunt one down.

Several times they have messed up the renewal of my thyroid medication. This time the online account I have with them stated they were working on getting my doctor to renew my script. After two weeks I had not heard anything from ES about them sending my order, so I got online to check to see if they had gotten the renewal. It still said renewal. I was getting low on the med, so I called customer service and the rep said she was sending it to my doctor for renewal. So, I figured it would be taken care of.
When, after three days, I did not receive the usual text from ES that my order was being processed to send out, I checked again online. This time the status said my thyroid med orders were CANCELED. No explanation was given. So, on Feb. 5, I called ES again and spoke with a rep. She put me on hold for about ten minutes to find out what was going on. When she got back on the phone, she did not give me any explanation as to why this happened. She told me I had to call my doctor to get the renewal, something I should not have to do, especially when they've done it in the past several times.
Several days later I see an email from ES, stating that my doctor didn't renew it. Had ES sent this message in a text to me, I would have seen in timely. I don't check email often. They can send me an order status email when processing an order but not when they have canceled it. NOT acceptable. On Feb 12 I noticed I had not yet received a text about my order being shipped. So, I got online to see what was going on. As I was about to sign online, a text from them came in, stating they were shipping the meds today. That is a WEEK after I spoke with the rep about the order cancelation and after I'd stated that I was running low on my meds. No apologies, no explanations.
This is the longest I can remember it taking them to process my thyroid med order. I don't know what is really going on behind the scenes as ES, but something doesn't seem right. I am forced by insurance to order my meds from ES or I would be going several miles down the street from my home to get my meds at one of four pharmacies, two of which I have used in the past before when I had a different insurance company. This is more than inconvenient. It is stressful. I have an autoimmune condition with my thyroid that makes me more sensitive to stress and negative consequences of stress. This is not the pharmacy to use is you don't want to experience stress when trying to get your medications.
The only positive I have to say about ES is that most of their customer service reps I have talked to over the past four years have been very kind and helpful. I believe it is something going wrong in the operations of the pharmacy itself and higher up business end that is causing problems with getting medications filled and renewed without problems.

Original Review: Feb. 8, 2020
My doctor sent 2 prescriptions to Express Scripts for me. They filled them and shipped them and I haven't paid for them yet. Prices were not readily available on their website. I expected to receive a bill before they shipped. One of them is 54.00 higher than I can get it locally. When I contacted them about sending it back (again as I write this I have not received the meds) they basically said, "Too bad, you owe us." This is a ripoff.

I tried to switch to Express Scripts--what a huge mistake. They received my prescriptions but decided I needed some kind of physician approval before sending anything AND NEVER NOTIFIED ME. I was basically waiting for medication that was never going to come. When I called to get clarification from their customer service, instead of trying to solve my problem and get me my medicine--which I was running low on--they kept trying to blame me for the problem. Huh? I didn't want to argue with them, I just wanted my meds. If you're already going through the stress of dealing with a health problem you definitely don't need the added stress of dealing with Express Scripts' incompetence. I don't think their promise of saving money on a copay is worth it. I also feel like the quality of the medicine is not as good as the drugs I received from Walgreen's based on its appearance and smell (yes, smell!).

In July I signed with Express Scripts. I specifically was concerned about a medication that I take and order every three months. It was a tier two and I was covered. In Jan of 2020 they decided to make my medication a tier 3 with a deductible which essentially means I will be paying totally out of pocket. I was not notified and since I ordered in Oct at the old tier level my refill was Jan I had no warning or time to change my prescription plan within the allotted time Sept until Dec. How convenient and shady. I am so sick of companies trying to raise prices and coverage and be sneaky and dishonest about it. Will get out of dealing with this company as soon as I can. Do not choose them as your plan. They will bait and switch you.

I want to know why I was charged $294 for ** tablet 37.5mg when your price a medication drop down on the website said it was $27.26. Until I complained the other day it still showed that. Now today it shows $294. My wife and I ordered 4 items and followed the instructions to price a medication. The other 3 we paid exactly what the price listed stated. If I knew that I was gonna be charged 10 times the amount quoted I wouldn’t have ordered the **. Now I’m stuck to pay that amount? Why didn’t they send the capsule 37.5 mg (@ $15.30) on the price a medication drop down as of this email. How can the capsule and tablet be that much different in cost???
The consumer needs to rely on your pricing otherwise your website is useless. Or at least confirm pricing prior to shipping when you have a no return no refund policy. Hopefully this explains my concern. I asked the customer service associates I spoke to If they got charged 10 times more for something then quoted what to do. The first person put me on hold and never came back, after 15 minutes I hung up and called back and spoke to “Timmie” for another 15 minutes and all he accomplished was to get the web page price to match the $294 that it now shows. It was $27.43 when we were on the call but he said his screen was showing $294.

Went to Express Scripts online. Noticed I had a balance of 29.00 saying my order has been delivered. I always pay for my order. When I get it in mail never received my test strips but it was scanned as being delivered...express scripts should make it to where the items are given to the customers instead of being left in mail box. They told me I had to pay it because it was delivered. Yes the mail man can scan it anywhere saying it was delivered..it should be illegal for them to charge me for something I did not get then also charge us more for wanting to use local pharmacy. It's not right. I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY FOR SOMETHING I DID NOT RECEIVE. THAT IS ILLEGAL.

I use Express Scripts because it’s my only choice from my retirement. I don’t think I have ever been able to go online, request a refill and receive it without making several calls to customer service, having frustrating conversations with representatives who don’t have the ability to help me, and often having to get my doctor’s office involved. I called Express Scripts today, recording said I would have a 9 minute wait, I waited 33 minutes. The website said (again) that I needed a new prescription, but my bottle says I have a refill remaining. I was finally told they would refill it, and that I still have one more refill remaining! I asked why so much trouble with the website. They don’t know. This all came after a 2 week debacle last month with them trying to get refills before I left on a trip. Order showed “processing” for days, but apparently never shipped, no one knew why or where it was. I did not get my medication before I left town.
I specifically asked my doctor’s office to write a 90 day supply of a medication so I wouldn’t run out while traveling. I wanted to use a local pharmacy to avoid shipping problems I’ve had in the past with Express Scripts. I show up at the pharmacy only to be told ES wouldn’t approve the 90 day supply. Another phone call to them results in them saying they would only fill for 90 days if I use their mail order service. By then, ES couldn’t fill and ship it to me quickly enough to get before my trip. I don’t like being forced by them to fill it mail order, nor do I appreciate not being informed of that until I called and questioned. I do not have time to give all the details of all the times I have had to call representatives and supervisors and my doctors’ offices to get my medication from Express Scripts. I will just say, if you have a choice, DON’T use them!

My employer changed to Express Scripts as our prescription provider on January 1, 2020. Prescriptions were to be automatically transferred from our previous provider. I called on January 6 to renew 2 prescriptions. A couple weeks later I had not received any, so I called again. They had no record of my call other than a temporary address I had given them to use until April. So I re-ordered the prescriptions and I was told they would be expedited and shipped "express" to make up for the delay.
About a week later I got a letter in the mail saying they could not fill my prescriptions because they had "no payment method on file." I called them on January 30 and provided a credit card number and asked why had not asked for a payment method the first two times I called. They could not answer. Strangely, they had mailed one prescription, but not the other and could not explain why. I told them I was leaving town early on the morning of February 3 and was out of one medication. They promised to "overnight" it to me. Today, January 2, no medication. I called to ask where it was and was told it would arrive the evening of January 3 (after my departure). So, nearly a month in and four calls later I am leaving for two weeks of business travel and no prescription.

They were nice but said that their system doesn’t work. No kidding. I have never seen a system that bad. They said I had to call them in. They didn’t know how to fix their system. I had to call my Dr. for an emergency supply. Then they hung up on me during the call. I had to call them back. Are you kidding me. I hope I eventually get my prescriptions. No way to track your orders. Totally can not be trusted. Wish I had stayed with my old insurance, much more reliable.

Express Scripts does not provide all the information needed for a pharmacy to process your order. Express Scripts leaves off the PCN code that is supposed to be on your membership card. When I called their help line, they provided a fake number which didn't work, causing me to pay for medication out-of-pocket. When I called again, they said they will mail a reimbursement form within 10 days. I have to get in touch with my employer HR to let them know how their employees are being taken advantage of. I don't know how this is a legal business practice.

Constantly calling about renewing meds, I say no. I cancel renewals online but they still call supposedly asking to renew. I say no, that was one time, no that was cancelled. Don’t renew anything! Or say to renew this not that. They ignored me went around me to the doctor and had them renew anyway! I end up paying! They can’t “find record of the call” so guess what?! They charge my credit card and no refunds allowed!!
This HAS TO BE A SCAM!! State Attorney Generals should look into this. They have renewed multiple times after I’ve told them not to. So more meds land in the trash (buried in coffee grounds but still!) Express Scripts is a nightmare! Also charge 4-5x more what uninsured can get on GoodRx! Front loading our $650 out of pocket. We would pay less than half through GoodRX. No good reason to use this “Benefit” unless you have something catastrophic but good luck finding a med on their approved list anyway. I think they’ve sent lots of duplicates too because I ended up with an extra year on two prescriptions. A hot mess!

I have had the same plan with Express Scripts for the last almost 6 years and 1 medication has always been covered then without any notification I went to pick up the medication and had to pay for it. It usually wouldn’t be a big deal but there was no notification at all via email, USPS or phone call. I go in today for the same med and no payment necessary. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. I recently change my Part D to Cigna who uses Express Script for their Mail-In Pharmacy. Here is a "summary". Prescription received for a "controlled substance" at Express Scripts 1/16/2020. VM received 1/21/2020 to contact them for additional info. Returned call on the morning of 1/21 and recording indicated a long wait time, but they would call you back in the order your call was received. 3:00 1/21/2020 no call received. Called back - waited 15 mins for a live person who took down the info and put me on HOLD to confirm the order would be released.15 minutes later she returned after confirming I would receive the prescription in 3-5 business days.
1/28 - nothing received! 1/28 missed call from "CSR" - no message. Called back and it was Express Scripts. After 10 minutes, a live person, a brief conversation then on hold - 15 minutes, a live person providing me same info as received the week before, requested tracking number, then on hold another 20 minutes, was given a tracking number which I tried while on the phone. Info returned "No data received". Requested a supervisor - transfer - on hold 20 more minutes. Spoke to supervisor, requested overnight shipping at their expense and expressed my frustration with this lengthy/misinformation process. Now waiting for tracking number to arrive via email. Hopefully prescription will be received by Friday 1/31/2020 when current medication runs out. Reason for lengthy hold times - "we are busy this time of year".... Hmm, I work for a painting contractor and we know each spring - thru fall we are busy - so what do we do? Hire additional painters! Ingenious!

After about an hour I was called back but then still had to hold for 20 minutes. The problem I am having now is that Social Security sent me a letter stating that they had deducted my premium automatically for January. I then received an invoice from Express Scripts stating I had not paid for January and I would have to send a check this one time. I called SSI to make sure they paid for January.
