My own experience where I am forced to get my medication through email and at higher costs because of the arrangement between these folks and my Insurance carrier is awful. The arrangement makes acquisition of my drug through local pharmacies prohibitively expensive. This company charges both me and my insurance almost thrice as much as I could obtain this drug through WalMart without assistance from my health insurance. As of today, they charge me for ** inhaler over $500 plus additional payment from my insurer while Walmart and Kroger pharmacies comparable offer is below $500 - without any additional payments from insurance. I had to fight their forced on me deliveries and billing of another medication that I never ordered from them due to cheaper alternative elsewhere.
As I write this, I see in my email "We got your request" from Express Scripts which prepares me for another exchange of correspondence and denials - I did not request anything from them in over a year! All of above is supported by documentation in my possession, and available upon request. This company, 25th in Forbes list of successful enterprises ought to be investigated by Congress, if our lawmakers really care about goodwill of people they represent.

I spent over two hours on the phone yesterday with ES. I spoke to five, yes (5) people and they all gave me different pricing. I shelled out over $500 in the last two months on medications. They don’t know what they are doing. I spoke to a supervisor and was totally baffled by her Ignorance to know her job. They are ripping people off. I went to the President's office at corporate to file a complaint and I’m not stopping there.

Biggest complaint for me is the fact I am forced to use them through benefits from work. Often times I *WAS* able to get good deals when I chose to use local pharmacies to fulfill meds, then they started forcing me to use their mail-order option, which often times is 60% or more expensive than what I was getting from local pharmacies.
At this point I thought, it was a cost savings issue. So I compared what charges were passed on to employer's insurance where I found that they were also billing them more for the medication than the local pharmacies! What a ripoff... Their fulfillment process is quite dated in comparison to any other company doing business on the internet... No status updates as to what stage your order is in, and inconsistent shipped notifications, sometimes none at all. ** If I didn't have Informed Delivery from the USPS I wouldn't have known they had shipped and a few Rx's would have been stuck in mailbox for days. A huge concern for patients that have medications that needs to be refrigerated.
Website is very limited in what you can do, no online chat or messaging available within it and you have to really hunt for a way to contact them. Finally, their bottles/labels are decades old... In a day and age when identity theft and medical fraud are commonplace they continue to use labels that are difficult to remove after use, and the bottles cannot be environmentally friendly.

If I could have given a negative amount of stars I would. It's now been the 3rd month in a row that ordering my prescription has required multiple phone calls. My Dr did everything that was required, and Express Scripts still can't get it right. Unfortunately I don't have a choice since my insurance company deals with them. If you can, stay away! Briovax was much more reliable.

Our doctor sent Express Scripts a new prescription for taking our same medication twice a day, instead of once a day. Express Scripts waited until the day the once a day prescription ended to send the new prescription order. Since we were taking two pills every day, we ran out of medication before Express Scripts sent the pills from the new prescription. They recommended getting more pills at the local pharmacy, which they would not pay for. I called about this problem 3 times. The phone representatives could only tell us what it says on the computer and do not know how to resolve glitches like this. They do not involve someone with more authority. There is no recourse or complaint procedure.

The company has worked with me to improve the delivery of my prescriptions. I am looking forward to a positive relationship and appreciate all the assistance I received.

My insurance requires use of Express Scripts to fill prescriptions, but two of my doctor's offices are having trouble communicating with them to get my prescription to them. I have called multiple times. Spending hours to get 5 prescriptions filled. I would shudder to think how long it would take for more than that to be filled. I am still waiting for 3 of my prescriptions to be filled from 2 doctors offices. I started requesting the prescriptions in January. It’s now April.

I spoke to 5 different customer service reps, over a 6 day period, always assured that my prescription would Be processed in a time sensitive manner. I was promised 5 times. On the last day before my insurance expired I finally got a supervisor who told me this was not possible, and never had been. I wasted hours on the phone, not only for nothing, but had they told me this before, I could have done something before my insurance coverage ran out.

For years my husband's employer has provided drug coverage through this company. Since the first of the year we have had problems with every prescription filled at the local pharmacy of our choice. We can pay an exorbitant price, change pharmacies or get mail order. These manipulative business practices seem unethical and definitely not in keeping with a free enterprise market. This should be stopped immediately!

I have seizures & I'm 18 weeks pregnant so it's kind of a big deal. 1st I get a request saying it's time to refill my script & give me a button to push in order to do so. Then I get an update saying I attempted it refill my scripts too soon & now my script on hold another 3 months even though it had already been 3 months since my last refill. I called & they admitted it was a glitch in their system & processed my script & said they overnight it to me. Next day I get another email saying, "Your script must have a prior authorization but we take of it." 5 days later no change. So I call again & they tell me I had to make all those arrangements. Get your system together. So now here I sit 2 weeks w/ no meds. I just pray I don't have seizure & miscarry!!!!

That have the automatic refill of prescription. This is my second time asking them to take me off from this forced default auto refill system. This is a rip-off in simple language. I received my medicine in mail which I never asked for. Before refilling my medicine I am supposed to see my doctor and consult with her to continue taking my medication. Now I am sitting with this medication along with my previous same medicine with a supply of 25 days left. So I will put it this way. It's all about business. I hope they take this rip-off automated refill system off and allow patients and doctor to control their medicine dosages.

It is unfortunate that I have to write this - but it was a painful and unproductive experience trying to remove an invoice that I was never supposed to receive. They sign you up automatically and make it extremely difficult to cancel and then tell you they cannot stop the invoice, the system does it automatically! EEK - I have never heard such nonsense - delivered robotically, as if reading a script & not understanding the words they are reading. With this type of service and the other low ratings I saw, I hope that you get what you deserve.

When I call and am given a ship date, I know I will have to call back between 3 and 5 more times to ask once AGAIN for a ship date. Very difficult to understand customer service personnel so I ask each time I call for them to repeat the ship date. The date comes and goes so I call back AGAIN on the promised date and will again be given a new date. Once again, process is repeated. AND repeated. Just cannot understand why it is so difficult to give an accurate, understandable, answer to a very simple question. It should never be necessary to even make ONE phone call as the ship date should be readily available on their website. This just plain should not be rocket science!! I also simply cannot be the only customer who does not understand what language they are sort of speaking.

First, it will take 20-30 minutes on hold before anyone answers. I have spent collectively 3.5hrs on hold and still have no resolution. ESI failed to refill my husband’s mail Rx. When I called they assured me that once they receive the Rx from his doc they would next day the mediation. A week AFTER they received it they got around to sending it and then it was delivered to the wrong address. No one knows where and seemingly doesn’t care. Their solution was to start the process all over. Meanwhile my husband is still out of his meds. I asked for just a short supply to cover at a retail Rx until they can ship but I have to restart the process by contacting his doc and wasting their time fixing the ESI screw up. Forget the mail order. The money you save is not worth the headache.

Over a month and a half of calls between the doctor's office and Express Scripts to get a prescription for my daughter. During this time I had to pay out of pocket $250 for a one month's supply because of the pure incompetence. After it was resolved the prescription should have been processed but instead was put on hold (we still do not know why). A week prior to running out we called to find out it was on hold (again no reason) but that they would ship overnight. We checked online to confirm and it said it wasn’t overnighted but instead wouldn’t ship out for another 5 days! This has been one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had trying to get a simple prescription filled.

I used to be able to use coupons but now they're telling me that's up to the pharmacy not up to Express Scripts and the pharmacy tells me it's up to Express Scripts. How do you take the medicine you need if the cost is out of reach? No one has the answer. They just keep transferring you from one person to the next.

It has been the most unpleasant experience with Express Scripts. I have spoken to six people in the last day and they have ALL given me different information or different numbers for my doctor to call or fax and both me, my husband AND my doctor spend FORTY minutes on the phone with them trying to figure out all of these issues that we have been having (honestly, too many to even talk about). And one guy I talked to from the Review Unit was a complete jerk to me and told me that I had been receiving "false information from whoever I have been talking to" A.K.A his coworkers?! These people need some more guidance and training because both my husband and I were being misguided by all of these people we talked to. It was very exhausting and discouraging.
BUT eventually and FINALLY everything was "resolved" after a long and frustrating day of basically being on the phone all day. I need my medication tomorrow and some lady promised that she would overnight ship it to us free of charge. I decided to check the status of my shipment to see if it's on its way and it hasn't even processed?! So it looks like it should be here on 3/26 and NOT 3/22 like we were promised. This company is the most unorganized and all over the place company I have ever dealt with. I wish I could be writing a good review but there are no good or encouraging words that I can share. Best of luck dealing with this company!!

I am a multiple sclerosis patient and have gone without my medicine for a month because they have my information in two different accounts. Every day I call and speak to a different person. Spend at least an hour to two hours on the phone with a different response as to why they can't process yet. I truly believe I am going mad and am nearing being hospitalized without treatment. I don't know what to do and they are not helping at all. They made the mistake and can't seem to fix it. I have two insurances and they both say I'm good to go so I have no idea what the problem is except their system is severely flawed and customer service without proper documentation process where I don't have to review all the information on every call. This has been so stressful. I am getting very sick.

Customer calls go into multiple different, unconnected service centers so you are never able to speak to the same person twice and no one can give out a phone # or email. All calls seem to require several transfers to different departments that cannot read each others notes and so, you need to begin from scratch each transfer. They have lied to me and told me there was a nationwide shortage of a med for my daughter's acne that is a very standard med for many problems (**).
I told them that as a clinician in a local hospital with a daughter who is a CVS pharmacist I could verify that that was not true. On one occasion I was mailed 19 times the prescription accompanied by a copay charge of over $2000.00! The med had a 30 day shelf life! Took complaint process at my husband's PBM to get the charge backed down. The hospital I work for broke the contract with Express Scripts within 45 days due to employee complaints. I am stuck with them through my husband's employer. Our physician's offices tell me of multiple script send request that cost them excessive amounts of time. They don't even deserve one star!

Updated 03/29/2019: I am not sure if it makes me feel better or worse that so many people seem to have a similar experience with this company. Over the past month, I have spent no less than 6 hours trying to straighten out a prescription for myself and one for my daughter. I went without medication nearly two weeks because of lack of communication and hassle on the part of Express Scripts and my daughter went almost as long.
Customer service was no help and when I asked to speak to someone else I was given a PO Box. Life was sure a lot easier when I could just go to my local pharmacy and pick-up medication. I hope the next time we look at health insurance plans we have an alternative to this company. Honestly, I will probably next need blood pressure meds if I have to continue to deal with Express Scripts.
Original review: I know our family has been fortunate not to need many prescription drugs, and those we have had could be filled one-off at our local CVS (which has fantastic customer service). Unfortunately, both my daughter and I now need ongoing prescriptions that must be filled through Express Scripts. Also, unfortunately, neither of us are taking them because of the bureaucracy and incompetence of this company. I have made countless calls, have to do the follow-up myself with medical providers, and still have no answers or medications. I fear what ever happens if we need a medication for something urgent or life-threatening. I hope I have the ability to get it out-of-pocket because I think it will takes weeks to ever get anything from Express Scripts.

First, your phone system is horrible. After calling in and requesting Express Scripts, I was connected to Caremark with no way other than dial back in and wait 10-15 min on the front end. I was calling in regarding the recall of a medications just shipped to me. Your reps were not knowledgeable about the recall, the process, or any related questions. Your reps said I would not be receiving a refund for the product shipped, paid for, and now being recalled for contamination. I must remind you that I paid you for the product and without a refund or replacement product, that is FRAUD. Even a senior person that called me back could not provide any additional information other than NO REFUNDS.
As a result of your position, and that nothing in the letter says anything about refunding the monies sent to you, I have filed a complaint with the FDA, the Commerce Department, and I have spoken with my state Attorney General about this fraud. An investigator will be contacting me to get the specifics of my complaint. To add insult to injury, When I called the company you are using for the recall, both times (over an hour apart) had a message on the phone that stated "We are experiencing high call volume" and the phone was disconnected. You folks have a lot to learn about customer service and customer care. If you have any questions or need any clarification please contact me at ** or **.

Since January I have been trying to get refills. Until I sent an email to the CEO, they kept canceling the orders. They were sending it to the wrong doctor, didn't have the correct address, this time they didn't have payment information but the card was on file (they wanted me to set up auto-pay). I pay Medical Mutual a high premium for prescription benefits. Last year, Express Scripts overcharge me $400. They had to grant me permission to use a pharmacy because they did not send the order.
I have an ETRADE account that is so smooth and order from AMAZON, no issues. These people are handling medication and personally, if they were watching my goldfish, I'd be nervous. The customer service reps struggle to read an address, can't pronounce a medication and are so slow, that each phone call requires an hour. I have over 3 hours in 4 phone calls for 5 prescription, that I still do not have. (Since January.) How could any patient be forced to use them, if I don't I pay more for the meds, at my local drug store where a pharmacist is so knowledgeable.

Updated on 03/11/2019: I just now talked with Tricare for Life, and they told me neither Tricare NOR Express Scripts has determined that ** is OTC (which it's NOT--go on www.drugs.com and you'll see a "**" label, which CLEARLY SAYS "Rx Only." Likewise, www.goodrx.com and www.mayoclinic.com also say "this medication is available only with prescription." I'm frustrated that ONLY TODAY, Tricare for Life told me it's the "Defense Health Agency" in Falls Church, VA, which has ridiculously decreed that this medication is a vitamin that I can buy OTC, and I need to contact THEM. It would have been nice if I hadn't been given the runaround by Express Scripts! I will now turn my attention to contacting the appropriate agency concerning the fact that I CANNOT purchase ** WITHOUT A PRESCRIPTION.
Updated on 03/11/2019: I had to go to my doctor's office last Friday and have him write a PRESCRIPTION for **, as it is NOT sold over the counter, as Express Scripts is FALSELY CLAIMING. I even called Tricare for Life, who ALSO looked it up, and it IS a prescribed medication, NOT SOLD OVER THE COUNTER. I confronted Express Scripts concerning this on this website, and they just messaged me -- they STILL claim it's sold over the counter!!! So now I have challenged them to SHOW ME WHERE it is sold over the counter. It will be news to my physician and Tricare for Life! Express Scripts creates its own "reality." I advise people to go ANYWHERE ELSE for prescriptions, as this is a company devoid of conscience. They will LIE TO YOUR FACE!!!
Original Review: I am prescribed ** to even survive. It is a CRITICAL ELECTROLYTE, not a "vitamin," and is NOT available over the counter. Out of the blue, Express Scripts deemed that it is a "vitamin," because the FDA has not done a clinical trial on it - and according to THEM, I can "continue buying it over the counter." Uh, duh, it is not AVAILABLE over the counter, and IS a prescription, and even my doctor says Express Scripts' "decree" that it is a vitamin because the FDA has not done a clinical trial on it is laughable, because ** is a GENERIC prescription, and the FDA does not DO "trials" on generic drugs. I have been prescribed this medication for 20 years, and since Cigna took over Express Scripts, there have been nothing but problems. I will be reporting them to the State Insurance Commission.

After only the first delivery, towards the end of a refill on 1 medication (3 days left) I checked and had no other bottles but loads of another and was running very low on a third. I called them and they told me that only 1 of my meds was on auto-refill, and 1 of the others I was running low on must have not had the correct amount in the bottle.

I hate Express Scripts. They sent me the wrong insulin after having a prior authorization filed for the correct form of insulin months prior. It is a historical drug that I have been taking for years, and with the prior authorization on file there should have been cause for concern if, in fact, my doctor sent in a prescription for the correct medication. I have very good reason to believe that she did send in the correct medication because she confirmed what type of insulin I needed multiple times throughout the most recent visit with her, and I mentioned the prior authorization to her as well as a reminder of why I needed the specific type.
Needless to say, I called Express Scripts and they said that it was not their fault that I received the incorrect medication because "all we did was receive the order and fill what your doctor sent over. We did nothing wrong." They put me on hold for a bit, came back and said that I was overcharged to begin with so they could only offer me the difference between what I should have been charged and what I was charged, and that there was no way they could accept the medication back regardless of the fact that I had not even opened the boxes with the medication in them.
So, I was still going to be paying about $50 for a medication I can't even use. I told them this, and they put me on hold and told me they could only increase my reimbursement up to 90% of what they were charging me because, again, they did nothing wrong. So, I was still being charged for a medication that does not work with my body (it was only $10 of course, but still. I can't use it. I did nothing wrong, and I was still going to be charged for the medication). I asked again to be reimbursed completely and they said they were unable to do so.
This is not the first time that Express Scripts has been a problem for me, but it is certainly the most awful experience I have had with them to this day. Good thing I'll be switching over to a new mail order pharmacy because I am sick of their customer service, poor communication skills, apparent lack of training for their staff, and outright disregard for patients. Do NOT use Express Scripts unless it is your only option.

I have never encountered such poor customer service and accounting. My medication is sent to my doctor's office for administration. One issue is that monthly orders for the medication are "not received" and not timely filled. Second issue is that I have struggled for nearly three years to have monthly invoices to be sent to my home. After hours of phone calls and emails, I succeeded in having invoice sent to home for approximately 14 months.
Then they stopped. I would receive email notices of overdue invoices that I never received and threats to stop my medication. Hours of emails and phone calls succeeded in receiving invoices for approximately four months. Then they stopped again. Again, email notices of overdue invoices and threats of discontinuing my medication. Every month I have to call or email to get an invoice. I always receive an oral apology and assurance that records will be modified so I get invoices. Then process starts again the next month. No invoice; email notice of overdue invoice; threats to cut off medication; hours of emails and phone calls; apologies and assurance that situation will be corrected.

Between wrong addresses, wrong refill dates, poor communication there’s virtually nothing good about it. After a doctor refusing a refill requested in October, they chose to not alert me until November when my prescription was out which left me having to pay for the prescription out of pocket for one month and then literally being in tears asking them to get me my prescription from a new provider.
Fast forward to the next refill date and wrong address and ship date is passed when I’m out of medication and guess what my only options are: pay for $25 shipping that still has me missing 5 days of medication or just wait a week! Great answer! This company is ridiculous and if you can avoid it, AVOID IT. Should be illegal to have pyramid schemes to just through hoops for medication.

As soon as I'm off my parents' insurance I'm making sure my plan allows me to pick up from a brick and mortar company. Express Scripts is a giant scam and medicine should not be this hard to get.

My company switched to Express Scripts and my doctor refilled my prescription. When I went to check pricing and then tried to cancel - they had already started the refill. What I found was that my pricing had tripled from what I paid with OptumRx. $75 to $200! I don't know about you but I don't have $200 to throw away but I am sure they are enjoying it. It shipped and I can't return it even though the product is in sealed boxes. The customer service agent(s) were unhelpful and totally unsympathetic. I will not use Express Scripts for any future prescriptions - GoodRx is way cheaper. 90 days or not.

Every time I talk to someone I get a different story of what the issue is. On my account on their website and the emails they send me, I get a different update as well. I spoke with a supervisor named Judy and she couldn’t answer any of my questions or concerns on me going on now a month without my medicine and the effects it has on my body and mental state. If it weren’t for my insurance I would NEVER use this company. They are terrible, inconsistent, unreliable. And I would NOT recommended them to my worst enemy.

I have a Rx from my doctor from before I moved for my birth control. After getting it sorted out with Walgreens, I'd been getting it free with little issue. Until last week when Express Scripts decided that no, it doesn't want to pay, but their own customer service says it shows as free. My pharmacist called and was told it needed to be a 3 month supply, but it couldn't be done? I asked Express Scripts to contact my old physician for whatever special crap they needed and got a call from CVS saying the Rx now is with them?! I've made 3 complaints and only one has gotten a response...with the response being to contact them. I'm not sitting on hold for 10+ minutes again. I just want my medicine!!!

This service was so horribly painful from the first interaction. I got a prior authorization from my doctor, which was sent to Express Scripts. After that when I logged in, I could see my medication as an option with a 3 month supply. Upon ordering, the system informed me that I couldn't order it yet, as it needed another approval from the Dr. an approval for me to be able to order it from the pharmacy I'm forced to use rather than walk to the pharmacy next to my house. Finally once my Dr approved, the approved and pre-authorized drug, they created an additional order, without my previous express shipping request and now I am waiting to see how long it will take to ship...meanwhile, I have run out of medication.

Every time I receive a new prescription Express Scripts denies my claim and I end up paying out of pocket. Today, I spoke to a supervisor. She put me on hold. 38 minutes later she came back on the line and told me she was on hold. I confirmed the telephone number and address. She also told me they closed at 5 pm. They do not. She put me back on hold. I put her on hold and called the pharmacy myself. I got right through. I flipped back over to the line I was holding on. 10 minutes later I hung up and went to the pharmacy to pick up my prescription paying out of pocket. The pharmacist said no one had called or was on hold. She said it was rather quiet.
Was the supervisor not telling me the truth and just keeping me on hold? Seems logical. Note to Express Scripts-I do realize that if you continue to deny my medication I will end up in the hospital again. But then again, once I am hospitalized it doesn’t really matter to Express Scripts. However, the company I am employed with will notice that you are costing them more money!

This company is HORRIBLE! Run, and run fast! They force you to use their company! I have always picked up my prescriptions from my local pharmacy with no problems at all. My husband's company switched to Express Scripts and it's been one nightmare after another. Went to refill and pick up my prescriptions from my local pharmacy and was told a different price. My husband's went from 2.00 to 400.00 and mine went from 39.00 to 160.00. I Called the insurance company to find out why and they said I had to pay a penalty for not using Express Scripts. Mine wasn't even a long term medication. My husband is diabetic and needs his medication.
The representative said she would waive the penalty fee this month but need to have our doctor's write out prescriptions for 90-day supplies and we need to purchase them that way. So I went back to my pharmacy and lo and behold the price still did not change. Had the pharmacy call and they gave a totally different story. Said I can no longer get my medication through my local pharmacy unless I pay full price for my medication. I have to go through Express Scripts. So I called again and spoke with the plan membership rep. told me the same thing. They would waive the penalty fee go back to my local pharmacy.
This time I kept her on the phone and went in. The pharmacy was told to call the help center and they still told her the same thing that they will Not waive the penalty fee. She was on speaker phone so I can hear the conversation, so I put my rep. on speaker phone and when I did that the other lady hung up. This is a big Scam! When checking all my medication, it still is cheaper for me to get my prescriptions through my local pharmacy not through them. My husband's meds. that went from 2.00 to 400.00 will now be 295.00 for 3 months supply. Who has 300.00 on hand to pay for prescriptions? So he has to now ask his doctor to find a different medication comparable to his other one that is cheaper from the one he has been taking for years. As for me, well I will no longer be taking my medication for I cannot afford it. Wish me luck!

On 2/4/19 I agreed to have my monthly prescription changed over to mail order with this company through my husband's employer because it was supposed to save me money. I asked the rep several times if the current prescription that had 11 refills left would be good and was assured yes. I asked about processing time and shipping time and believed there was plenty of time to receive my medication before running out.
On the day I expected to receive my medication I contact Express Scripts to find out why I had not received my order. I was then told that they were waiting for a prescription from my doctor's office!! I SPECIFICALLY asked in the beginning if this was needed because it was just switching the script from my local pharmacy, and was told no. To make matters worse, NOT ONCE did Express Scripts contact me to notify me of the delay. I am not without my medication and it takes 72 hours for a response from my physician's office. Of course it is a Friday. This company does not care about the customer. I have been forced to use this company due to insurance company plan requirements. The problems I have had over the years could literally fill a book. If you can, run from this company...as far as you can. Constant issues: - Long hold times. - Issues take so long to resolve that medications run out. - Issues take repeated calls, over and over and over again, each time having to explain the problem all over again. - They tell you one thing today then deny having any record of saying that the next day, then again the next day again and again. - Majority of reps and supervisors are very curt and have no compassion or care that they are causing adverse health issues through their actions and inactions. - Takes very long to process and send medication once it finally is approved...then charge $21 to overnight medication which you have to pay because you have run out of the medicine.
- Do not even cooperate with Doctor offices. - The Prior Authorization process is so riddled with denials and excuses that it should be criminal. - Reviews are so negative but nothing changes. - Complaints are so similar that the issues appear to be the norm, not just occasional errors. Is there ANY agency that oversees them that can expose these issues? What about Congress? We are being victimized in large numbers and something HAS to be done. HELP PLEASE!

From the very first time I called them about why they rejected filling my prescription they were completely inept and couldn't tell me why, they weren't filling my script written out by my doctor. I'm not going to go into the entire experience as I'm still in the middle of trying to get my narcotic prescription filled. What I will say is run don't walk away from Express Scripts. Do not use them and as far as I'm concerned we should shut them down because they're 100% inept. I've spoken to around 20 people there from the main office up to the appeals office. Not one person knew what's going on.
From the time I originally called to about the 15th time I called knew that the rules had changed for Narcotics. I blame Medicaid for that but not my doctor, the pharmacy nor my insurance company. Express Scripts knew about these rule changes, which started the middle of last year. I had someone tell me that if I had cancer pain I could get any narcotic I wanted. I asked the woman what's the difference between Cancer pain and kidney pain and ankylosing spondylitis? There was silence on the other end of the phone. These people are rude and stupid. It took me to my 17th call before someone would tell me what the exact guidelines are. I had to burn a 30-day script for a seven day fill, the first time. The second time I drove to the doctors and got a 7-Day script.
The third time they denied me outright. Still I did not know why. If I could legally switch back to my old insurance I would in a heartbeat but the rules don't allow it. Our Healthcare System on many levels is broken. We the people need to fix that and start speaking up I called my representative and she's working with Medicare Part D. This is about Liberty and quality of life. Right now the government is infringing on my Liberty and screwing with my quality of life. Is this what makes America great? Really! Do not use Express Scripts. I'm pleading with you. I'll save you the headaches now. I cannot express how pissed off I am about this whole situation.

We have spent countless hours on the phone trying to resolve this issue as well as countless hours on hold to call in scripts and desperately connect to submit a prior authorization. After wait times of 20, 30 and 40 minutes we typically have to hang up and try again as we are running a practice. Most recently we have incurred an issue in which a patient desperately needs a prior authorization completed. Out attempts have been less than fruitful. We have no issues faxing to others pharmacies, other offices, etc. After months and months of issues and Express claiming this is an isolated issue, we will no longer be able to assist patients that choose to use Express Scripts.

I had BCBS insurance with TriCare as secondary so I would not have to pay the $5,000 for the medicine. I was told they DID take secondary insurance and then they DID NOT. I ended my BCBS insurance (COBRA) so that TriCare would become primary. On February 1, 2019, I contacted Express Scripts again (I had been on the phone with them every day since January 22nd) and was assure my prescription had been transferred from BCBS to TriCare. Every time I called to follow up, I was given different and conflicting information.
I had my doctor send in a NEW prescription just to make sure it was in the system and was assured again yesterday that everything was being processed. Today, I was told I needed doctor pre-authorization (makes sense, TriCare wants to make sure I need the Humera) but was frustrated I was not told this on February 1st. My doctor sent off the paperwork and then called Express Scripts because they needed my TB test results. As soon as the doctor’s office said the results were not uploaded into their system (she just started her own practice and their computer systems are being updated), Express Scripts denied my prescription and now I am in appeals status. They refused to wait to speak with my doctor about my TB results and now I have to wait up to 90 DAYS for an appeal decision.
I feel my prescription is being held hostage and that Express Scripts - TriCare does not want to pay for this medicine. I have been given different information, conflicting stories and nobody I have spoken to has read the notes when I call them, so I have to start OVER each and every time I call. Express Scripts is the worst company I have had to deal with in my MANY years on this earth. Everyone is so “nice” but they are worthless at the end of the day.

Employers use this "service" because it saves them a ton of money vs. letting employees use real pharmacies, but there is a reason they are so cheap. Accredo sent drug refill claims to the original drug plan that was no longer provide drug coverage benefits. Express Scripts’s Accredo Specialty Pharmacy has refused to REPROCESS the prescription drug claims to Medicare (Express Scripts Medicare drug plan) plan after our calls for this new plan update. Accredo Specialty just keeps attempting refill customers’ prescriptions, does not care customers’ plan coverage and their requests. Their reason not reprocess claims to the current plan was the prescriptions in their hand were received at the beginning of the year 2018, so the refill was already done before our refill request. So the patient lost the benefit coverage from Medicare plan 2018.
After we switched our pharmacy, and realized also Accredo drug price (Tier 3, 4,5) extremely high. Customer service and business operation are very poor from Accredo Specialty Pharmacy. Then I received a call from Accredo stating that my prescription was no longer considered specialty drug therefore Express Scripts would be filling it. I called Express Scripts and they told me Accredo would be filing it. My order has been delayed over a week now and I am out of medication for a drug that I must take every day to treat a chronic disease.
After spending over an hour on the phone yesterday I thought everything had been completed. The supervisor told me that it would be listed as an emergency and would ship overnight. I received a call from Rhonda at 8:45 that evening and she said the call had been escalated to her. I told her everything had been resolved earlier and the supervisor gave me a credit for the co-pay which the manufacturer covers for me and that he had told me they would file with the manufacturer. Rhonda said that was not true and they Express Scripts would not send the drug overnight and that it would be sent regular mail and I would need to contact the manufacturer for reimbursement.
The medication is to ship out on Monday now however my plan does allow me to get my drugs through Walgreens Specialty Pharmacy and they will even take care of the co-pay assistance with the manufacturer. I don't understand why Rhonda treated me so rudely and did not seem to understand the urgency of the drug I take. This medication is $7K for a 90 day supply so I won't take a chance of it being lost in the postal service. I was never offered upgraded shipping at all and in fact Rhonda cancelled the original order and placed another that would not get expedited. I got different answers from every supervisor I spoke with. The only person that seems to care was the Pharmacist who told me that the drug I am on has to be taken every day or the disease will ravish my body. Rhonda saved Express Script $20 in shipping when the company makes billions $$$ a year. Way to go Rhonda Express Scripts' Supervisor.

My Harvard-educated doctor prescribed me a medication for a 90-day fill - two tablets per day. I was shortchanged receiving only 45 tablets twice in a row. I called Express Scripts only to learn that they intentionally shortchanged me. My "plan" only allows 45 day fills without a MAGIC pre-authorization form. No one from Express Scripts notified my doctor or me that they were shortchanging me. My doctor was furious when we finally drilled down to why her prescription and my fills didn't match! I was furious, too. It costs me more money, as well, since Express Scripts is leaving me hanging for an additional 45 days without my much-needed medicine.
Apparently, a "pre-authorization" is required. No one EVER told either my doctor or me this. My doctor submitted the pre-authorization. Then, Express Scripts still held up my script because of another "pre-authorization" required! My doctor responded immediately. I thought all was moving forward, but more than a week passed, and no shipping notification.
I called, and my call took 53 minutes. Some "glitch" in the Express Scripts system disallowed my fill yet again. The nice representative had me on hold endlessly trying to get a supervisor to override this mistake repeatedly. She said she finally got it and said she would expedite my order. Expedite meaning from my phone call on Sunday, I **might** receive my medication on Thursday. Express Scripts told me to get my doctor to get an "emergency" fill at a local retail pharmacy to tide me over. I wouldn't have ever needed that if Express Scripts would have only done their jobs and been communicative to both me and my doctor. After parsing out one pill a day (when I'm prescribed to take two) or not taking my pills at all, I still don't have my prescription.
I think Express Scripts is playing God. They decide willy-nilly what and how much they will fill without notifying key stakeholders in their decisions. Sadly, I'm bound to Express Scripts and its incompetency since this is what my employer provides. Given a choice, I'd certainly find another mail-order pharmacy that communicates with its patients and doesn't leave a patient in need of medication to fend for herself. Updated on 01/18/2019: Someone from Express Scripts read my recent review and responded wanting to assist me. I gave them contact information and the person called me. Again giving me different answers as to why my medication was approved with prior authorization, but wasn’t covered because there are generics and denial for lower copayment. Original appeal for them to assist in cost of medication which I have to have brand name and cannot pay $1018 for 1 month supply. 2nd appeal was to get medication approved with my doctor faxing medical necessity for brand name medicine.
Again, denied. When I asked this agent who and how they determine denial he stated it’s a process that he couldn’t explain to me and he didn’t have script in front of him. Bottom line I got him to tell me real reason I was denied was because he said my plan doesn’t cover it. I asked him why I wasn’t told that at beginning rather than give me false hope and have my doctor send letter.
Conclusion, this company should not be allowed to have anything to do with people’s lives and health. They only care about profit to them. Of course they don’t want to pay for a expensive much needed medication, too much loss to them. I would not use this company if I didn’t have to. They deserve a negative 5 stars! Everyone tells you something different and no one really knows the correct procedure, protocol or answers. In all my years, I have never had a prescription drug plan whose company is so inept and cares nothing for the customers health! If you have a choice don’t pick Express Scripts. Might as well not have any plan. Force you to do mail order or fill at specific pharmacy 3 month supply for maintenance medications. Never been forced to pay for 3 months at a time!
Original Review: Unfortunately my husband's employer only offered Express Scripts for 2019. Denied brand medication that I have used for 15+ years and tried generics and allergic or didn’t work. Even had doctor send in letter of medical necessity and denied. Wanted me to pay over $1000 for 30 day supply! Everyone gives me a different answer, people giving out wrong information not knowing my plan coverage. The worst prescription plan ever in my entire life. They don’t care about your health, only profits to them. I am now out of medication and it is critical for my health to have this medication. They can’t do anything and I can’t afford $1000 for 1 month supply of medication.
I have had nothing but headaches and it’s only the beginning of the year. How is it that we are forced to purchase 90 day supply? My glaucoma eye drop has no generic, so they will charge me a outrageous amount for them! Guess the employer picked the lowest of the lowest prescription plans! It definitely reflects that, close to having nothing! Stay away from Express Scripts. I’d rate it negative stars!

The eye drops I use for glaucoma are always late from Express Scripts. These are supposed to be a 90 day supply but fall short by 1-3 weeks. Trying to contact them has effected a change for that delivery only and they can't seem to stay on top of it or permanently change the refill dates so this happens every 90 days and I have to contact them. My doctor says she gets complaints about Express Scripts and has started writing scripts for Walmart for those patients. This is not an expensive drug and I could go to Walmart every 90 days but I should not have to do this. I have no control over Express Scripts being my Part D provider because my former employer goes with the lowest bid so I'm stuck with them. Gee - wonder why they were the lowest bid, maybe because they don't hire enough staff or incompetent staff, hence my issue. I would give them a 1 star except they do ok on my other med for some reason.

Non-functioning website to track package. Package address entered incorrectly. Clearly the departments do not know how their peers in other departments work, if they did, maybe they would know who to involve to solve problems rather than leaving the follow-up in the record for the next time the customer calls. Updated on 01/09/2019: Here’s their reply: "Hello Noel- For payments you would have to contact Medicare. -Stephanie." I called Medicare, they DO NOT collect premium payments for ANY Rx plan provider. I detailed this and my horrendous experience with Express Scripts over the past 3 weeks trying to pay them. Their online link w doxo (Chase) is not working. Nowhere does it say to contact Medicare. This response is hard for me to believe was actually given by a real human. MEDICARE CANNOT COLLECT PREMIUMS IN Express Scripts or ANY OTHER PLAN PROVIDER. Whoever at Express Scripts who is directing them to tell us that is WRONG. Interestingly, nothing about paying Medicare is ANYWHERE on website or INVOICE they sent me. Their CEO Tim Wentworth pulls in a $14 million compensation. This is the best he can do to manage his company? Stay away. Going to try and switch to a different provider. :(
Original Review: THE INFORMATION ON THE INVOICE IS WRONG. ESRX.COM/PAY. THE INFORMATION PROVIDED WHEN YOU CALL THEM IS ALSO WRONG!! I tried to log in and set up autopay for premiums. NOT WORKING!!! After a lengthy hold (over 20 minutes) I am transferred to 'web support'. That genius tells me they have an issue with the interface to Chase and I need to call MediCare to make my monthly premium payments. I KNEW this was wrong but called MediCare, after 35 minutes on hold am told, as suspected, they can't accept payments on behalf of Express Scripts.
2 hours later, I get to someone who physically took my banking information and set up autopay. I asked in the beginning if they could do this and the same genius who told me to call MediCare said NO! This is INSANE. HOW ARE THESE PEOPLE STILL IN BUSINESS?? I want to switch to another provider. Everyone should. They have NO CLUE what they are doing, nor do they care that the information THEY provide is USELESS!

Like others here, I have had nothing but problems with Express Scripts. This is the worst company I have dealt with. They forget to send out prescriptions until you call them, and the latest experience takes the cake for being the worst of all time. I called them 3 days before an order was to be shipped, and told them to change to a namebrand med instead of generic. Not only did they not do it, they sent me the generic which I specifically said I don't want. Now they will not switch me out and are making it hard to get a refund for the generic I explicitly told them I don't want, 3 days before it was shipped.
I am going to contact local pharmacies and find somewhere else to order from, as well as file complaints to help stop this poor behavior. The worst part of all this is the representative I spoke with at Express Scripts (Mona **) and then the manager (Brenda **) were very defensive. They tried blaming me for not getting brand name prescription sent in. I told them I could have easily done this had the first representative told me, but they did not tell me to get a new prescription indicating brand name, they told me they will try to switch me out regardless. Now that I received the generic they are telling me I should have got the brand name prescription, and now it's the new year with a new deductible and that the price will $3000 instead of $210 it normally would have been. They have screwed me and created a lot of frustration in the past year of dealing with them. Anthem makes you use Express Scripts for the cheapest prices, but no more for me.

Express Scripts are simply incompetent and they should actually have negative stars. They lost my prescription refill and tried to scam the insurance company by attempting to falsely increasing my utilization and push through another prior authorization because of their screw up. They will not take responsibility for losing my medication or offer any workable alternative. Now they said I have to pay out of pocket, and will not have the essential medications I need after surgery. To me, what they did was intentionally attempting insurance fraud and need to investigated by the insurance company and Consumer Affairs for screwing over their members. Express Scripts do not deserve to be in business and should be prosecuted.

I will never use Express Scripts ever again. I spent the entire time trying to cancel my prescriptions that I was misquoted on and should’ve been sent out on 3 January.
These prescriptions are time sensitive due to the fact that my wife is pregnant and is diabetic. I paid $789 for one prescription but was quoted $789 for both the prescriptions I ordered and then they tried to charge me an additional $1100 and then try to charge me $42 to have them overnighted when they should’ve already been there. I mailed in a prescription and got an email on 12/17 that it was received and they were working on it. 10 days later I got to wondering where it was because normally it is fairly fast processing and mailing. I looked up my email and checked status and they had put it on hold because it was too soon to fill since my last request. What??? I had not requested any since the end of September. I can't wait until March 23rd! So Christmas eve I called in and was put on hold for at least 30 minutes total with them coming back on and checking on me and then going back to the supervisor to find out what the problem was. I was eventually told it was a computer glitch... REALLY? Who checks on this stuff when dealing with prescriptions that are absolutely essential to people's lives???
I was also told to call back on the 26th to check that it was being processed. So I called today and was told it had not been processed yet and that they had gotten a request on the 15th and on the 19th. The one on the 15th was processed but never sent but the system thought it had been so the one on the 19th (and I have no clue how they got two of them) got held due to the one on the 15th. I told her I got an email on the 17th that it was being process and then nothing. So now it has been expedited because I'm not paying a deductible just because they didn't get their job done before the end of the year.
I took the patient care person's name and my new prescription # and invoice #. I had to ask for that information to make sure I had correct information if I had to call back. The problem is, this is not the first time this has happened and I have had to call them repeatedly to get things corrected. I am signed up to get email verification and so far on the reprocessing, I have received nothing. I will say that the representatives that I spoke with were very nice and were doing their best to fix things.

Two weeks after the doctor put in the order, Express Scripts canceled it without advising me or the doctor, saying my plan needed a Pre-Authorization. I only found out by going online and checking the status of my order. They’re fine emailing you to get your business, but don’t notify you to let you know something as important as a canceled order. When my doctor called in the PA, I called Express Scripts who confirmed they had received it.
Then they transferred me to Mail Order service who told me they had to restart the prescription and could not guarantee when I would get my medication. Meantime, I had run out. Before I get into the hell they've put me through I'd like to mention how strange it is that all of their male representatives are supposedly named Greg... **, Indian, etc. Express Scripts is the worst company I've ever encountered! They send me emails saying my medication has been processed and/or shipped, then weeks later when I call because I still haven't received it they tell me it was never processed because I "don't have insurance." I call back a few hours later and they say they never sent an email, and I do have insurance so none of the representatives would have said otherwise.
Then they say they're processing the order as we speak. I call back after not getting a confirmation email and they say I "opted out" of the program or "it already shipped from St. Louis" even though neither are true. I downloaded a call recorder app and started playing the calls for them every time they claimed a lie. Every time they say they don't know why anyone would have told me that. Funny how it's always a different guy named Greg for the last 2 years. I have had to pay full price - over $300 a month - without using insurance at a local pharmacy more times than they have filled my prescription. They also claim my doctor never sent the prescription (3 months in a row) even though I watched him do it on several occasions.
They claim my insurance will cover the cost if my local pharmacy will call them, but when I hand my phone to the pharmacist they tell her they never said that, right after I play her the recording of them saying it, then they tell me that's a problem on the pharmacy's end. All of this happens every month so now the local pharmacist knows me by name, and she knows why I'm there, with a greeting of "I see Express Scripts is still jerking you around." I have made complaints with the company several times to no avail. This morning "Greg" claimed once again that I don't have insurance, I opted out of automatic refill in October of 2016, it's the insurance company's fault, it's something I did wrong, and he even said I haven't gotten my prescription filled with them since May, even though I provided him with all the information on the label of the bottle from last month. This company is nothing but a stressful scam.

I won’t go into extensive detail but I will tell you that my health care provider & I jumped through their hoops for almost 2 months getting a “prior authorization” for a diabetic medication. When I applied for my 2nd refill, I was notified that I needed a new prior authorization because they had a formulary change. Never received any notification of this development. My physician & I jumped through the same hoops. Only this time I was denied & they wanted me to use medications that are contraindicated for diabetics with kidney disease. (This means me.). My physician filed an appeal in my behalf. Express Scripts informed me that an appeal could take up to 90 days.
I phoned them today for another follow-up & was told my appeal was denied. I asked who makes the decisions to deny medications. I was told it is done by a pharmacist. This pharmacist is acting like they are God, but they know nothing about my health history. I’m denied a medication that they authorized for me before which has been like a miracle for me. It not only reduced my A1C (blood sugar) but caused no further damage to my kidneys or circulatory system. I was told by Express Scripts that I will get my denial letter in the mail and I will be given instructions on how to appeal to the next level & they have no idea how long it will take to receive a reply to that appeal. In the past, I have contacted TRICARE in the past asking how I can lodge a complaint about Express Scripts.
I was given the same phone number that is used to call Express Scripts. I contacted DOD with the same question & given the exact same phone number. I don’t think I’m stupid, but how can anyone believe their complaint is going to be taken seriously or acted upon when you are lodging it with the company you are complaining about. I contacted a local pharmacy to inquire how much my medication would cost me out of pocket. I was quoted $1,040. I believe I know why my appeal was denied, my medication would cut into their big, fat profit margin. Well my fellow TRICARE subscribers, I think our beloved service members gave so much more to our country than for their dependents (who also made a lot of sacrifices) to deserve this type of treatment.
I decided I had enough of this company who delivered my medications to the wrong address & wanted me to pay for a re-shipment (I won that argument), blatantly lied to me on numerous occasions, and treated me like I was a big inconvenience. I have contacted my Congressman and Senator and lodged a major complaint. I have asked them to have their staff read some of these reviews posted here, to contact Express Scripts & ask why customers never received responses to their complaints, & to have a review of this government contract with this pharmacy company. I REFUSE TO GIVE EXPRESS SCRIPTS ANY OF MY MONEY and will pay more at my local pharmacy where I know I am receiving a high quality product. Obviously they are sending an inferior product if they can charge one third of the cost.

Unfortunately I am forced to use the pharmacy because of our insurance. Literally every month they hold my medication until I run out and then tell me I haven't paid! The problem with that is you cannot order without paying! They have an automated system that calls you then puts you on hold until someone has time to talk to you! Then you have to go through the argument that you paid, of course they say you haven't and they put you on hold again and then finally straighten it out. BUT with them it's never straightened out because a few days later it's again the exact same phone call, and meds still haven't been sent because they again say you haven't paid! Just to figure out you have! I put one star because I had to!

By far the absolute worst company I've ever dealt with. This is a company that is holding its customers' lives in the palm of their hands and completely abusing that power. Every month my prescription does not arrive. Every month I have to contact them in a panic because their website tells me it was re-filled on a certain date...a week after I need it. I end up restricting my dose because I'm terrified I'll run out. In the beginning they were very nice and apologetic. Now, I get a sarcastic apology and my medication ends up at a convenience store 20 minutes from where I live and 30 minutes from where I work. And the shop owners (or drug dealers? It was hard to tell while I was terrified for my life in there) were keeping my medication on the GUM RACK. The public gum rack. Anyone could have grabbed it. It says "Express Scripts" right on the shipping label.
I had to show them every ID and sign over my life just to get this prescription that was already a week overdue. I genuinely am fearful for anyone whose entire life is dependent on this company. If you require a medication that keeps you alive, please please please do not use this company. You're better off self-medicating by buying ** or ** off a street corner at 3am than dealing with this company for the very basic medications you need to survive.
Seriously...do not use this company. My health and life have taken a severe downturn since my work forced me to use this service. If you or a loved one have been suckered into using this company, please know that at least the major pharmacies have some accountability. There is nothing keeping Express Scripts accountable to their patients. We are not customers. You have promised to take care of our health care needs and you are failing more miserably than any company I've ever encountered. Thanks for nothing but ill health, nightmares and stress. You guys are the worst.

After posting my review on 11/19 or 11/20 I was contacted by Express Scripts to review my complaint ($500 default for auto-pay). Much to my surprise the representative listened attentively to my concerns and while I am unsure because of system limitations if Express Scripts can post a notification about their auto default amount for auto pay, she indicated she would pass the info on. To that end I change my rating of Express Scripts for the mere fact that they went out of their way to address my complaint. If you have auto-pay it is possible to have the 'limit' amount changed from $500 but you will need to call Express Scripts, it's not an online option.
Original Review: Nov. 19, 2018
I had a horrible experience with Express Scripts to the point I am trying to see if I can use a retail pharmacy. I guess it is no wonder that they are being acquired by another company which hopefully will review Express Scripts policies and how they handle patient issues. If you allow Express your credit card info (auto billing) know that they have a default amount of $500 which is set by them, not the patient. They can charge up to $500 without telling you so if your doc sends in a script and you don't know the cost you may be in for a surprise. Nowhere do they ever disclose this $500 default cap to a customer which does not allow a customer to manage their health care costs.

I had to switch jobs and had a great pharmacy plan with my previous company, not one issue ever getting a prescription filled. We had to switch to my wife's work insurance and they use Express Scripts. I am already paying close to 700 dollars a month for family insurance. My daughter's prescription that was not even 10 dollars with my old plan is now 264 dollars a month with Express Scripts because it is not a preferred medication. What a crock. You cannot tell me there is not something wrong with this picture? I have been on the phone with them for a combined total of 8 hours over two days trying to get some type of resolution and still do not have an answer? I even had the pharmacist on the phone with them trying to figure out what the issue was?

I am 54 years old and have used multiple providers for prescriptions in my life. That is perspective. Our company switched to Express Scripts about two years ago and immediately I detected that there is nothing remotely express about this company. They definitely purposely delay filling prescriptions and am quite sure they market this as savings to companies paying for "coverage". The last encounter I had today involved a current prescription they had on file from my physician. Recently the drug I am taking in that prescription became available as a generic. Rather than processing my final refill and then requesting a switch to generic on next renewal they waited until the prescription was due to be filled to request my physician to change it to the generic. Of course this resulted in further delay and my prescription has now been out for two weeks.
They tried to tell me that this was the doctor's idea/request, but I know it was their attempt to save themselves money. My prescription will now be out for a third week while they take their sweet time refilling the new prescription for the generic. Furthermore I was appalled that when I call customer service, they have a recording that you cannot bypass telling you for three or four minutes that a drug ** has an FDA recall and all the endless details to pursue if you are on that drug. I am not on ** as probably 99% of all customers who call the customer service line. Really? They are going to waste everyone's time so they don't have to take calls from the 1% who are? What a flagrant disregard for the importance of my time.
We would all be better when they like hospitals get reimbursed based on a patient/customer satisfaction score. Pretty simple to see from their other reviews that this is no accident. Agree with the person who said they hold your prescriptions hostage. This is the worst example of customer service I have ever encountered. Shame on them for their sleazy, deceitful practices to prevent having to fill my prescriptions. If you ever have the chance choose anyone else other than these slimeballs to administer your drugs.

I have had the worst experience with Express Scripts trying to get a medication. I have had to call 4 times and my oncologist has had to also call 4 times, only to get the wrong information each time and still not have the issue resolved. I even asked for a supervisor and still not given the correct information. The drug is covered. However, they say the quantity per day needs a plan limit authorization. They have no idea what is going on even when they supposedly have the information right on their computer screen. My plan does not allow me to order, the pharmacy I must use is 30 mins away and these are the only idiots I can use.
I have never had such a horrible experience with any company. I even told them I have been taking this medication for almost 3 years and could have a seizure by just stopping it abruptly. She said she could make a note on my account. Why, yes that will be really helpful. Ugh! They also made no notes on my account that anyone, myself or my Dr. had called. Given 3 different phone numbers to call and none could get it right. Awful horrible company. If ever given a choice pick another plan with another prescription servicer.

Holding your medicine hostage. This has got to be one of the worst and most crooked companies out there. They nail you with a "retail fee" which is a fine of 3 times what the medicine costs if you use the local pharmacy in order to force you to use their mail order service. That's also non-refundable... Jerks. They constantly call trying to force other meds over to their service and scrutinize everything you are prescribed looking for more opportunities to milk the consumer for more fees. Their communication is horrible, they don't interface well with primary doctors which results in you having to work the issues out yourselves. I'm sure our insurance used them because they are cheap, and obviously you get what you pay for.

We have been using Express Scripts for a couple of years now. Very disappointed in our last prescription fill. We received email confirmation for one prescription, yet received another in the mail that we cannot use due to medical complications. When they called us to get authorization for the order (because of the amount), they did not tell us what medications we were paying for, or that they made a change. Noteworthy is that the prescription they changed it to is 3x the cost of the original one we got email confirmation for! After 5 weeks of phone calls, Express Scripts finally said they are not reimbursing us the $1446 for the prescription. We are canceling our accounts. Extremely frustrated - seems like a money grab!

I started receiving alerts on my iPhone as of November 1, 2018 and every day since then. The alert says she is out of her prescription for **. The alert has an Express Scripts header and logo that reads "Janet has 0 days remaining of ** 0.3 MG". I have emailed Express Scripts about the problem only to receive an email response with no substance whatever. The email response says the problem has been well documented and the alerts will stop. The alerts have not stopped and documentation alone will fix nothing. I have also contacted Express Scripts by phone on several occasions in an effort to stop the alerts.
My phone calls have accomplished nothing but a song and dance with a runaround and empty results. I have been told that my wife's account has had everything closed or stopped. I have even been told the problem is with my iPhone. I have also been told there is nothing more that can be done to stop the alerts but the alerts keep coming every day around noon Arizona time. Everyone at Express Scripts says they are sorry about the loss of my wife but they are not sincere. Everyone I speak with apologizes for the alerts that keep coming but they are not sincere. The individuals would take the extra step to find a solution to stop the alerts if they were sincere and caring. Pictures of the iPhone alerts are available upon request.

My wife and I have used ES for over a decade and are now using ES Choice PDP Medicare plan. ES has given us good service with mail order prescriptions but we recently had an issue at our local retail pharmacy. What we're not happy about is our local pharmacy has been listed by ES as a preferred network retail pharmacy and we have one time use, non maintenance or medication that does not qualify for mail order prescriptions sent to them. My wife has one medication that does not qualify for ES mail order and this prescription is sent to our local pharmacy each month but the most recent one cost 3 times more than previous ones. The pharmacy ran it through twice because of the major price difference and they could not explain the difference.
My wife's Medicare prescription status has not reached the coverage gap slot so after contacting ES we were told that they had changed the status of our local, as well as several major chain pharmacies in our area from preferred retail down to participating retail. A notice of this pharmacy status change should have been issued to the plan holders. For a company that wants your trust this is no way to conduct business if you have to go on their website or call them every time to check if your local retail pharmacy is still listed as a preferred network pharmacy before any prescription is filled.

Do yourself a favor and find out where else you could fill your prescriptions. One hand does not know what the other is doing in this company. I was notified by Express Scripts on 07/18/18 (received 07/24/18) that they were terminating my Part D plan in one week. The excuse was that I was no longer in their service area, which is the 50 states in USA. I moved from Ohio to Wisconsin, due to health issues. I complained several times, but they would not recognize their error, and that Wisconsin is still in the USA. I paid for the full year, in advance. Only after repeated requests did I receive a refund two months later. Because of the incorrect cancellation by Express Scripts, I have experienced significant added costs to my medications, and expenses incurred while trying to correct the actions of Express Scripts.
I registered complaints through Maximus Federal Services, who did nothing. I suspect Maximus is a front for Express Scripts. I complained to Medicare, who did nothing. This is not the only problem I had with Express Scripts, but I will write the other problems off as incompetence. I assume not intentional, which would be fraudulent. This is how Express Scripts mistreats the elderly and disabled.

She told me she would look into finding a way to help (total lie). I said, "Go ahead but pa department rep told me pay out of pocket or wait until 11/15/18 to get rx through ins for 75 for 30 days and so did his supervisor and her supervisor." She sent me a few other follow up responses that she was still checking then nothing.
Now I'm getting calls from Walgreens that I can pick rx for 25 days not 30 (still out of pocket) and if I wait until 11/15 I can get 59 pills not 75. As of now I have been without my pills for 9 days and don't feel confident this is going to resolved even after I did what they told me to do again. I told supervisor that I hoped her or her family never needs these meds or gets sick like me because this is a horrible way to treat sick people.

I started this fight on 9/28/18 and still isn't resolved as of 11/2/18. I'm going to have to do without my pain meds for 2 weeks and hope when I try to fill it again on 11/15 it will process. I have RA Lupus Sjogren's, 2 neck surgeries and have lost use of my thumbs. I was begging and crying for help today after speaking with 2 Supervisors in PA department. My doctor has called and has the prior auth in front of them. No way exists to send it to Accredo, however, who insists it doesn't exist. Even calling with Anthem on the line doesn't help. Everyone has the prior auth in front of them except Accredo who claims it doesn't exist and just refuses to fill the Rx, or figure out where the problem is, which is obviously on their end.
We spent an hour today with a CSR from Anthem (and me) on the phone before finally getting disconnected. They have no way of fixing a problem in their prior auth uploading system once it has happened and all of the Accredo CSRs are like pre-programmed drones which basically repeat the same incorrect information. Never mind various other inaccurate info they have, like insisting the generic name and Brand name of the same drug are two different drugs. Maddening incompetence. Once can figure they must be in cahoots with the insurance co (who contracts them and only them) to deny services. Why else wouldn't you want to make a sale?

They also did the same to me but put the blame on who my insurance is provided through but now I believe it could be more them. I wish someone else would step in and compete with them because prior authorizations should not be necessary when you have a doctor prescription, nor should it take 48 hours to approve or deny and nothing should ever be denied especially if I still have to pay for it, nor should it take 7-14 days for a faxed prior authorization form to even be reviewed. I don't think these people take their jobs seriously. If they think they are in the business to make money, that is not their job. I recently needed a brand name drug approved as generic did not work for me. It was denied. Appeal forms were mailed to my home, I filled them out and returned. Called to follow up, was told to wait 30 days. After 30 days was told it was denied because forms were completed by me, not physician. That was not stated on any form. They received the forms, saw they were wrong, and did not let me or my physician know so we could correct error (their error, since the physician's office never received any communication from ES). Long story short, I began that process in January 2018. It was finally approved at the end of April 2018. Four months. Fast forward, to October 2018 and I required a different dosage of same drug. Denied. Had to begin at square one because only previous dosage was approved. Every step of the way, it is clear the goal is to wear customer down so they can do things their way. No special exceptions. Ever.

This is a consistent problem that is not addressed. Express Scripts has incompetent phone operators. They took my payment on Tuesday 10/2 for a heart medication that I can't skip. They offered 3 day shipping for 3x the amount of my medication. I told them I can wait for the 5 days. Today 10/8 I received a voicemail stating they needed an authorization of payment due to them sending me meds that I don't take anymore. I paid on Tuesday and had a confirmation.
This is 6 days ago. They are calling me to say it is a 90 day prescription and the confirmations was for a 30 day supply. I have no medications since Friday. Now they say they can give me a 7 day in Rite Aid and they will send me prescriptions in 7 working days. Do the math. I may not be able to give a review by then. How does FDA allow these clowns to be in business. What's worse is they see these reviews and do nothing. Who is worse? Our employers to save a dollar or FDA? What has America come to?

I am suppose to use this pharmacy due to my employer, but because of issues in past, I had chosen to pay the extra at my local pharmacy for my prescriptions. But thought, I would try them again due to the convenience. My MD sent my Rx to them and I received an email requesting payment information. I called them the next day but they had already processed the prescription without authorization because my card was on file. I explained that I did not want the medication as it was only allergy medication and could be obtained cheaper OTC ($88) and attempted to stop the process. But was told it was too late. Keep in mind they had just sent me the email the day before.
I asked if I could send back the medication for the credit and was told they would send me a return package, which never came. I was then told to dispose of it and they would credit my account. I never received credit. When I called back I was told that I would not be receiving a credit and that I had been told several times before. Which I had not. I do not understand how a company of this size can treat customers this way and still stay in business. I pray that the older population that uses this company due to the convenience, is not being taken advantage of as well.

I’ve unfortunately had to use Express Scripts for years now due to it being my prescription insurance provider through my union. I wish they would switch. Their customer service sucks. No one ever tells you the same thing. Their methods of contacting you when there’s an issue is just a random email that doesn’t even explain the cause. They constantly screw up whether it’s from not contacting doctors in a timely manner or billing issues or slow turnaround. You would think with something as time sensitive as medication they would have a faster turn around and better communication with their customers.
Many times they have made mistakes causing further delay with medications and their only resolution is to have the customer pay $25 or more for expedited shipping. Why should the customer pay for errors on the business's end? I wonder how many people have had serious health issues related to delays in getting their medications due to Express Scripts own negligence.

Evidently the October bill was really for January although the bill did not say this anywhere on the page. The company claims that when Social Security doesn't start paying them until Feb. 1st, and the payment doesn't cover January. At no point did ES ever contact me about this. This is October. The representative that I did at Blue Cross Blue Shield was very helpful. We did a conference call back to Express Scripts. Spoke to a representative named JV on from Georgia. We told him we want to speak to a supervisor because my pills are normally 20 day supply now it went from 20 day supply to 21 days supply. He put us on hold for over half-an-hour, came back on the line and said, "I spoke to my supervisor and she said your refill will be ready on the 3rd." I asked to speak to the supervisor yet once again he said, "Oh you never said you wanted to speak to my supervisor."
Both me and the representative from Blue Cross Blue Shield said, "Yes we did." Supervisor by the name of Ellen from North Carolina got on the line. She again have us on hold. Nothing got resolved. Needless to say they said that it will my prescription will be ready 21 days after I was supposed to have it. Total whole time on this call was 1 hour and 35 minutes. That is unacceptable they also keep changing your scripts in the amount of supplies that you do get. My school district switched from PrimeMail to Express Scripts on September 1st. This was my first interaction with them. I received a call from them telling me that one of my medications was out of stock. I was told that the name brand was out of stock. I asked them if they could use a generic brand and I was told no, that I would need to have my MD write another prescription for the generic. The person I was speaking with was so difficult to understand that I had to keep asking him to repeat what he had said. After 25 minutes I had to get back to my work so had to call back.
2nd call was to Walgreens. It’s a federal law that you CAN substitute a generic med unless the MD specifically writes that you can’t. 3rd call to Express Scripts was again, a person that I couldn’t understand. I was told something entirely different but then asked to speak with a supervisor to verify which story was correct. On hold for 10 minutes then had to get back to work. 4th call I asked to speak with a supervisor only - no more customer service rep. I was transferred to a supervisor that I was able to understand and she corrected my issue and explained everything to me. She said that they use a call center in the Philippines and that the next time I call I should ask to speak to an offshore representative. Hope this helps someone.

I recently changed insurances, and I had a prescription on my previous insurance that was through Express Scripts. The new insurance company that I started on also used Express Scripts as their prescription service provider. Good, it should be a breeze getting my prescription transferred over to my new insurance company, right? Boy was I WRONG.
Over the past three weeks I have been on the phone with three different customer service representatives trying to solve this issue, and it has not even been fully resolved yet. I don't have a problem with talking to different people as long as they keep detailed notes so that progress can be made on each call, but I have to start from the beginning with each person and it is extremely frustrating. Somehow I got deleted from their system (???) and now my prescriptions are no longer appearing anywhere for them to find, even after I give them the Rx number.
All I want to do is transfer prescriptions, is that too much to ask? They are now telling me that I need to call my old insurance company and/or have my doctor (who is no longer my doctor since I moved out of state!) write a new prescription for them, when the one that WAS written still has SIX MONTHS worth of refills. Overall, very dissatisfied with this company, and I am not looking forward to having to be getting prescriptions from them.

Unless you are ordering medicine that you don’t need, please don’t use this service. It sounds great on paper, so convenient! But I spent much, much more time and effort dealing with these people, tracking down orders, contacting doctors offices for replacement scripts, etc, than I would have just buying to a local pharmacy. On one occasion, tracking marked a package of drugs delivered. They weren’t. They sent a replacement, but I had to have an emergency script filled locally to fill the gap. They also charged me for the lost package. After a 30 minute call, the charge was removed.
After verifying through their website that another prescription could be filled through them. I ordered it, deciding to give them another chance. I received an email claiming they’d received the order. Several days went by, and I heard nothing, so I’m checked my account page, which stated that the meds were NOT available, and the order was cancelled. No notification, just cancelled. Another 45 minute phone call, requesting that they mail back the paper script. They promised to “expedite” that, meaning they might put it in the mail in 4-5 days. Had to call doc for new script.

This rebate need to go to me and not Express Script. I may get a coma if my blood increase. BsBc will pay more if I am hospitalized.
Updated on 10/02/2018: I missed 2 weeks of injection to control my diabetes and after 6 phone calls and 2 appeal which I have not heard the second appeal. No reply after faxing the second appeal. They did a temporary approval to pick up my medication from Kroger. They bill Kroger 80.00 and Kroger gave me the coupon and charge me 25.00. So now I cannot pay a cheap price at Kroger because Express Script is taking my 55.00 rebate. I have to mail order and I will have to skip every other week injection because Express Script will charge me 160.00/90 day supply.
I don't know how this is going to help me if I skip my medication because of this type of control from middle man. WOW! Maybe if I'd read the reviews about Express Scripts prior to even dealing with them I wouldn't be so surprised right now by their terrible business! I wish there was an option to give ZERO stars. Monday Sept. 10 I called to ask for the price of a med I needed. Their website didn't have the price available and I didn't want to request to receive a medication before knowing if the meds would be covered and if so, what my copay would be.
Upon calling, I asked for the price and the representative couldn't find the price of it either. I told him it was important that I receive the meds asap because I only had enough for 1 more week but I really wanted to know the price first. He said that I had 2 accounts set up with them because I was in transition from Tricare East to West and had to wait at least 48 hrs for meds to even show up on my account with any information before I could order a prescription. Also, it would be an additional 7-10 business days beyond that before I'd even receive the meds. I needed them in 6 days so what would be the point anyways? He said to check back in 48 hrs after my accounts switched over and they should be able to give me more information about the price and I could possibly request a faster delivery. He made a note on my account that I wanted to know the price of the medication before confirming placement of an order.
3 days go by and my account still shows no information or prescriptions for me. This tells me that I'm already not going to receive my meds in time because nothing has switched over and I'd still have to probably wait 7-10 business days after to even get them. I called my doctor who called in the prescription to FREEDOM FERTILITY PHARMACY who are AMAZING!!! They called me back the very next morning with the price and overnighted my meds for no additional charge!
So fast forward to Sept. 18 when I receive an email (8 days later) from Express Scripts that my order was on its way. WHAT!? My account STILL never gave me a price of the meds and I never called to confirm delivery of them. In addition, I've already received my meds from a different pharmacy who didn't make me jump through a million hoops just to get a price or to receive them in a timely manner (already had my meds for 4 days at this point). And the email said my meds would arrive on Monday Sept. 24... 14 days after I called to inquire about the price in hopes of placing an order!
Express Scripts said they would not allow me to return the meds or receive a credit because I never called to cancel the order. I was never told what the price was and the note on my account said I would place the order upon being informed of the price! They suggested "opening a claim" to have my previous phone call reviewed to see if there was an error on their part. Today, Sept. 21, I find out that "there was no error on their part. I never told the man on the phone that I didn't want the medication." LIARS! I needed the medication which is why I called but I stated that I did not want to place the order until I was made aware of the price, which I never was!
**Side note: my medications are fertility meds that cost over $250 a box when not covered (and I needed 5 boxes). I was receiving them at a MTF who provided the meds to its patients for free. Now that we're not stationed there, this was the first time I had to order the meds through a pharmacy outside of the Army hospital. Wouldn't anyone want to know 100% if expensive fertility meds would even be covered or not before committing to an order??? I'm now being stuck with a copay and 5 boxes of very expensive medications that I don't need. And it's MY fault for THEIR negligence?
Shame on you Express Scripts. I'm sickened that they are making money off of the sale of my very expensive meds and still sticking me with an unjust bill. They are liars and thieves who don't care about people, just making a buck. I will NEVER go through them again. And if you or anyone you know need affordable and super fast delivery of fertility medications with excellent customer service (who also follow up with you!), shop Freedom Fertility Pharmacy. They are the epitome of good business!

It appears that Express Scripts puts whatever erroneous information it chooses onto their website regarding the status of the delivery of medication your doctor has prescribed for you to further delay or mask a delayed prescription. If this has only happened once with my medications I wouldn't mind so much, but I have found that I have to constantly chase my medication, and can't depend on the status information on Express Scripts' website is supposed to show the status of your medication. Yesterday, Express Scripts' website showed that my prescription had been "sent and delivered." Today the status shows as "sent" but will be delivered today.
This is the same prescription that showed on their website it would start processing 9/6. It is now 9/20 and I have been out of this medication for over 10 days. Why does this company think it's okay to screw around with someone's medication that a licensed physician has prescribed? They are a service but really are so bad that they are damaging their customers' health by delaying medications which they are supposed to deliver. There is always an excuse.
Express Scripts charges $21 for overnight delivery services and with their constant delays and incompetence, a person has little choice but to use their "overnight" service. Keep in mind, I have yet to both use this service AND receive the prescription the next day. It has always been 2 days or more and always because Express Scripts has delayed my medication. If your prescription is supposed to be delivered close to the end of the week or especially close to a holiday weekend, you can count on it being delivered the week after. I have yet to have an automatic shipment where my medication has not been delayed and interrupted.
Express Scripts would be out of business if their customers weren't forced to use their service because of an agreement Express Scripts has with various employers. My doctor has sent in authorization renewals and I have gone onto Express Scripts' website to check my prescription's status. It will show as still waiting for the doctor and then my doctor has to resend what was already sent. This happens more often than not. I always have to chase after my medication.
I have received "informative" letters from Express Scripts on how to get authorization for medication so the prescription is not delayed. My doctor knows what she is doing, has done everything necessary and on time for the prescription authorizations, but Express Scripts still is unable to fill prescriptions on time. Instead of letters, Express Scripts should hire competent people who know how to fill and ship prescriptions on time, update websites with accurate information and people who can receive, and in turn, mark down as received doctors' fill out authorization information. WORST COMPANY EVER.

It has been over a week now since the Rx’s have been sitting unfilled because they refuse to fill them saying they are covered under Part B. Medicare says they are not covered under medical and they are a covered benefit under Part D from Express Scripts.

I opted out of automatic refills because they were sending them so often I had enough to last me 9 months! They still send me prescriptions I had not yet ordered! I ordered a refill Rx on 9/3/18 via the website and it reflected a ship date of 9/5/18. I placed another refill for a different Rx 9/5/18 which was shipped out immediately.
Today 9/6/18 I check on the status of the first Rx, which I have now run out of, and the ship date has been changed to 9/8/18! After listening to all the information that I already knew on their automated line I was able to finally speak with a human. Even then I had to ask "Ernest" 3 times why was the Rx delayed before I got the answer. Apparently the order was delayed while they confirmed the address! It's the same address I've always used, the same address that is identified as my permanent preferred address, the ONLY address I've ever used!
I was told I could call my physician and request a short-term refill while the order is waiting to be shipped. I've been through this before - the doctor calls in the RX to the pharmacy. The pharmacy calls me later in the day or I show up to pick up the RX and I'm told the insurance company denied it since I've already ordered a refill. The pharmacy then has to call the insurance company to explain the emergency refill status and request approval. Long story short - I'm paying the full price for 7-10 pills that I normally pay for 90 pills. What a waste of time and money!
This company has been horrible since my insurance was switched to using them and we are now required to use them for any maintenance prescriptions. This is in addition to the many issues I've had with paying for the pills when I order them only to be sent a bill later telling me my account is past due because the payment was never applied. A very frustrating company to deal with all the way around!

My family and I have had nothing but problems with this pharmacy. They don't refill prescriptions as needed, they NEVER get the automatic mail order filled and they NEVER get the prescriptions correct. Their employees don't even know the name of the medications or even how to spell it for that matter. This is a VERY INCOMPETENT company. I can't even give them a rating because it doesn't go negative!

Starting a year ago I was "forced" to order my medications from this company. I was advised in an email that if I did not buy from their home delivery service, my prescriptions would be denied at my local pharmacy and I would have to pay full price, even though I have prescription coverage with my health insurance carrier AETNA. It seems to be a well orchestrated scam between the two companies.
As stated in another complaint, you never know the cost of your medications until after they ship. This practice must be criminal across all fifty states. I had a nightmare trying to return a prescription that cost almost $300. The credit took months to process, even after returning the medication. This whole system is unethical, if not downright illegal. The Better Business Bureau and the Consumer Protection Agency needs to have a serious look into the operations of this company. The consumer, the patient, is being violated in plain sight.

I called customer service. They explained that there was a "coverage gap" and that they could not do anything for me. I am disputing the charge with Visa. Just about every non-brand name prescription I have filled with Express Scripts has been cheaper at a cash price than through this 'benefit' service company. Worst prescription company I've used in 25 years. Name brand drugs have been about 85-90% of retail. Unless you have a co-pay plan with this company, I strongly suggest to run if someone offers you this as your provider of prescription services. Lest you think that I am reacting from a single bad incident, I have been using them for about a year and a half now.
Next year, I'll either go with a plan that has co-pays for prescriptions if I have to use Express-Scripts or opt out/not use this service. They put so many constraints on what you can get and where you can get it, there's no point. If you want a historical referent, these plans are reminiscent of the 1800's 'company store' which was the only place you could shop with the company script you were paid with to ensure that the company got back most of its money.

There was an issue with my FSA card not having enough money to cover the cost of this prescription and I received an email to call Express Scripts. I called and paid in full and was assured the prescription would then be processed. It still appears to be in a suspended state and is saying I need to call to discuss payment. Calling customer service gets me nowhere. They give you the illusion that they know what they’re talking about and everything is taken care of but it’s never the case. There isn’t a single instance where I can order my prescription and have it delivered without incident.
Moreover, why do I need to call to pay? Why is there no option to reconcile payment online and have the process continue? And why is my issue never handled with a single call as promised? I never had any of these issues with Medco. One better, I’ve been trying to submit an online inquiry for a half hour and I keep getting a “sorry, system not available” error. What kind of Mickey-Mouse operation is this?

This person had a bit of an attitude and after spending another 15 minutes on the phone with her, she ended up sending in the wrong prescription! Prior issues were rare and resolved fairly quickly and I would have rated the company a 4 star because we liked the automatic renewal and prompt deliveries. I am not sure if their acquisition announced in March by Cigna is causing disruption but we have had a very bad experience requiring multiple calls for over a week for a med that requires delivery in ice packs that it was shipped but was not being updated on their website by back office. I made another complaint, and talked to two people about it. The second person said that they were going to send me a replacement, at no cost, and in better packaging, not just an envelope. Well, the replacement came damaged.
I had to call them AGAIN, and the person did not understand what I was talking about. It took me several times to try to make her understand what was going on. I would give zero stars if I could, as one star indicates that there is a redeeming quality to this company. There isn't. We are currently embroiled in a $4,000 mess with this company. Upon numerous phones calls we were told that the representative who called to schedule the next shipment of my brother's R/A injections should have notified him that his ** co-pay card had reached its limit for the year. Normally, his insurance is billed, then the ** co-pay card is used for the balance, minus a $5 co pay. Its to help with those who can not afford this costly medicine. He wasn't. Instead, his medicine was shipped as usual.
Skip to the next month, when he was called to schedule another shipment he was informed that it would not be shipped until his outstanding balance was paid. What outstanding balance? $4,000 and some odd change. He was never told of this charge. He did not agree to this charge. But now he has it sitting there, blocking them from shipping any more of his injections. His ** co-pay card is there ready to be used. But they won't use that until he pays the outstanding balance. And no, they won't run it through the ** card that was renewed.
So there you go. No meds for this disfiguring, excruciatingly painful and damaging disease. Because someone failed to notify us of the charge. Now, had they did (as we were told by **) what they were suppose to do, we could have said no to the shipment and waiting the two months for his co-pay card to renew. Then scheduled a shipment. But no. So now we are trying to get by using whatever we can to treat his disease. Thank you Express Scripts for being such a wonderful company. I hope you rectify this situation. Oh, and to add insult to injury, we were told that "we" should've notified them that the co-pay card was at its limit. Nice. I don't mean to be snarky, but I am deeply upset. And this company's treatment of people and ability to follow their own guidelines is horrific. Do the right thing Express Scripts. Please.
Updated on 08/17/2018: I was contacted by Express Scripts and asked for contact info. I asked that we conduct our correspondence via email. Things need to be documented. As this is beyond unscrupulous and now leans toward unlawful business practices. I detailed the events, and was notified that they would have a member of their team research it and contact us directly. I then received another response stating that they hoped the matter was resolved. Nothing has transpired, so the answer was, no.
In the meantime, my brother was contacted by Express Scripts by telephone and told that they can't do anything with the outstanding balance that is over $4K. However, they did say that they could send out one shipment of his meds but then the balance would have to be paid before any more could be sent. He declined as this all is way too unprofessional, unethical and bordering on unlawful. Let me point out, someone out there at Express Scripts has arbitrarily decided that my brother could, indeed, be granted his prescribed medicines - but just this once. These are medicines that are prescribed by a doctor. They are not a choice. But someone at Express Scripts is making that choice.
Again, let me also point out that Express Scripts failed to notify us of any charges that would be incurred beyond our $5 co-pay. Thereby, we never were given the opportunity to decline the shipment based on the cost. In fact, we knew nothing of any costs. They did this again the following month. No mention of prior balance, no statements were emailed notifying us, nothing. And we were not notified of that we'd be charged that month. Instead, they took our information for the $5 co-pay card and sent the shipment. It was not until the third month that they informed us that the shipment could not be sent due to an outstanding balance. This was the first we were notified.
The representative from the company who handles ** (Accredo), told us that we should have been notified on that first month. Obviously, I believe it's unlawful to charge someone without their knowledge. She went on to say that every time a monthly shipment is scheduled we should be informed of any and all costs. Makes sense to us! If not, how is someone suppose to know they are, in fact, being charged. Due to this, I can only conclude that this company is trying to scam people, and now, as this prescription can't be filled anywhere else right now, they are holding it hostage. Pay the money, that we failed to inform you that you were being charged, or you can't get your medicine. What does that sound like to you?
I have asked them to do the right thing. I told them that I would happily share it with the world. I'm all for shining a light on those who do the right thing. Who try to right their wrongs. But that light shines both ways. I don't want this to happen to anyone else. And shame on you Priority Health for doing business with this company.
Updated on 08/21/2018: Please note that, although we were contacted by Express Scripts in response to our complaint - it does not mean that we have seen any headway toward resolution. Personally, I think it is done solely to make it appear as if they are trying to work toward a resolution. To have it "show" as in progress. If there is something going on behind the scenes to fix our situation, it is not being disclosed to us. In fact, just the opposite - as my prior update stated - they called to say they can't do anything about it. We have filed a complaint with the Missouri Better Business Bureau and the Michigan Attorney General's Office.

I don’t think that the transfer is ever going to go through. The third I called customer service and got a physical address so that I could send to them overnight with delivery confirmation.
It took a day and a half, and two phone calls with requests to speak with supervisors before they even acknowledged receipt of the prescription. Since then I’ve made at least two calls a day, each time being told some variation of it’s been flagged as a rush and is being worked. My most recent call this evening I was actually told that it was in the “back end” and being packaged for shipment. She then told me that she was going to send a priority request to rush shipment and overnight it to me at no cost (I’ve now been out for over a week). That was four hours ago, and the website still says that my prescription request has been received and they are still working on estimating the ship date. Oh, and I just received them today. Express Scripts is holding me over a fire. They could have split the order because the insulin is 87 dollars and the needles are 87 dollars. I went to pick up my prescriptions today and was told that one prescription - which was $5 previously - would now be over $200. The exorbitant amount is due to a penalty fee because the prescription was for a 30 day supply from an "unapproved" pharmacy. This completely goes against what I was told by an Express Scripts customer service representative earlier this year.
I called Express Scripts customer service and tried to explain that I will probably not be taking this medication for a further 90 days - it would be a waste of medication and counter intuitive for me to receive a 90 day supply. Over and over again, the representative and his management told me that common sense does not matter. To receive my prescribed medication I must buy a 90 day supply. I am very frustrated with the lack of customer service regarding this issue. First, Express Scripts told me that I can continue to get my prescriptions in 30 day supplies from my chosen pharmacy with no change to my copay. Now, Express Scripts is telling me that if I want to get my prescriptions they must be in 90 day supplies from an approved pharmacy.
