I purchased a sleeper sofa, along with an extended warranty. About three months later, I had it serviced and the problem was not solved. The sleeper sofa was then sent out to be repaired at their facility. It was fixed, but the problem occurred again shortly after. I called for service and when the repairman came, he told me that when I'm having problem with it, just flip the couch over and hammer down this certain piece of metal. Shortly after, the sleeper sofa needed to be repaired again. I called in mid-November. It is now mid-January and I have not heard back from Value City regarding the repair of my sleeper sofa. I constantly told them that the sleeper sofa is unserviceable and is defective. They refuse to replace the sofa and are just waiting until the warranty expires.

My girlfriend and I recently went to the Value City Furniture in Richmond, VA. There we purchased a new couch, chair and ottoman. When we were finalizing the sale and setting up delivery, we explicitly told our salesman and yes, I said salesman and not sales "professional" or consultant" that we lived on the fourth floor of a converted warehouse in the downtown district. We were very explicit in telling him that our building had only a standard passenger elevator which in itself is on the smaller end, as elevators go. We were assured that their moving "professionals" would have no problem getting our 120 inch long extra deep couch in the elevator because and I quote to the best of my abilities, "They have ways of turning and flipping it to make it fit." My girlfriend and I both let out a small laugh at the comment and were immediately assured that if they couldn't get it in the elevator that they would take it up the stairs.
After waiting two weeks and taking a day off work (because they only have weekday deliveries), the delivery day had finally only to have the delivery men take one look at the elevator and say it would not fit and they were not permitted to take the couch up more than three flights of stairs. They promptly put the couch back on their truck and got back to their schedule.
If you ever have the displeasure of dealing with these people, please keep in mind they are lazy and not willing to work with you. They will feed you any line of you know what to get you to buy and then do nothing to follow up or make sure they can deliver on their promises or rectify their mistakes/lies. There is no reason anyone should be subjected to this waste of time or aggregation. Makes me wonder how it was so easy for us to recognize that this over-sized couch would never fit in an elevator but these people who do this for a living could not imagine a world where this couch would not fit.

A couple of years ago, my husband bought me a patio set with six chairs from Value City in Bridgeton, MO. I went outside today and noticed the glass from the table had blown apart and is all over my yard underneath the table. It wasn't even hot outside. In fact, it was a little rainy, cool morning. What are you guys going to do to replace it?

I live in an affluent area in the western part of the state of Missouri. I recently visited one of your stores located as indicated above. Their contact no. as stated. When buying furniture at your establishment , your salesman who greeted us was very courteous and respectful to both my wife and I as customers. During the business transaction and eventual ticket write-up, Mr. Tim *** was a perfect gentleman throughout, rendering his services to us as customers. However, the friendly atmosphere rapidly changed when we arrived at the service counter to pay for the purchased items.
There was a young blond hair female who apparently was in charge of the financial transaction in finalizing the sale. Unlike Mr. ***, her demeanor was found to be very rude and unprofessional in nature. She was very insulting and boisterous to my wife and I. Her attitude was found to be totally unacceptable and unmerited and will certainly me from doing business with your store again. You would think holding sale transaction of almost $600 in her hands would have merit some kind of respect, no matter what the race or ethnic background. This letter is being written with any intention or though of retaliation in mind, however, I do think that your store manager need to screen his employees a little better to prevent this kind of conduct from becoming common place in his store in the future.

On Oct. 19th, I purchased furniture from Value City Furniture, which was having a promotional deal of a free 15 inch HDTV with your furniture purchase. It was to be mailed to your home approximately two weeks after your delivery date, from Best Buy. The furniture was delivered that Saturday but it was the wrong furniture. No one ever made an attempt to correct that error.
When I called the store regarding my order, no one ever called back. I had to go to the store, re-place the order and pick up the furniture myself. After one month, I called regarding the TV to no avail. I did get a call back, after filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, that the TV was to be delivered. Again it never came. I have tried their Corporate office customer service and still no one will return my calls. This has become a matter of principle and very poor business conduct. I cannot believe a company would be so inept. It is not right that a large company can con the American public and get away with it. I over paid for furniture because the TV would even out the cost but never received it. I also think it was a way to scam people into buying furniture.

Last June, I purchased a leather-reclining sofa and a reclining chair. In February, I notified the company regarding the fact that the center of the sofa had sunken down about six inches from the other two cushions and that what feels like wood is felt between the cushions. It makes sitting on the sofa most uncomfortable. Anyone sitting in the center of the sofa appears to be practically sitting on the floor.
It is just two adults here, no children, so abuse of the furniture is not an issue. I called the Value City Furniture Store where the purchase was made, so far, three times. Each time, I am told that the person I need to speak with is unavailable and will return the call. I have not yet received that call. Repeated emails to Lane furniture go unanswered and a hand written letter as well. The purchase was made with a Visa credit card. Please feel free to contact me for any further information.

I purchased a Simmons mattress Item # 24006-50093-5G at Value City two weeks ago. On July 4, 2008, we even went back to buy sofa bed, cocktail table and a dinette. The Simmons mattress was delivered to my house on July 8, 2008. However, we discovered on that same night that the mattress delivered had some bed bugs and/or insects that looks like mosquitos coming from the small holes in its pillow top.
The next morning July 9, 2008, we went to the VCF store to report the incident, one of the associates (Nora) guided us to an office and made some calls to VCF corporate office. After waiting for an hour, Nora gave us the Customer Service No. and told us that a lady named Valerie would help us.
When we called Valerie and she told us that they need to inspect the mattress first and that they would be sending a Value City Inspector. The inspector did go to my house and indeed saw bugs/insects coming out/from the small holes of the pillow top. (although no report was left or given) The next day, when we called Valerie, she was then denying liability and claimed that the bugs were from my house and that they wont replace the mattress. I just bought my house and completed the inspection, we were staying there for the past week and there were no bugs until the mattress was delivered.
My house, particularly the master bedroom is already infested w/ bed bugs or insects bec of the mattress. Me and my wife had to take time off on the afternoon of July 9, 2008 to report the incident.

Summer of 2005 we purchased a 7 pc.glass top patio set from Value City. Aprox. 5 weeks ago, for no apparent reason, the glass top on the table completely shattered,no one was even outside at the time. In attempting to replace the glass top I discovered the same incidents w/Martha Stewart patio tables. The only info. I have on this set is Outdoor Living Products & wonder if it was manufactured by the same company.

March 2, 2008, my husband and I were sitting at our patio table (less than one year old) playing cards. The table shattered into a million pieces for no reason. We were utterly shocked! When I contacted Value City, they gave me the manufacturer's name, Courtyard Creations, Inc. They told me to contact them. I have yet to find a website or contact number.
We payed several hundred dollars for this 11 piece set on our Value City credit card which has since been canceled. The table somehow broke more in my direction so I had serious cuts, including a piece of glass in my eye. It is now 2 days later and I still have shards of glass in both legs, one foot and chest.

I made a purchase in the Value City store using my credit card, and a few days later I checked my statement and found an unauthorized amount for a magazine subscription. I called the store and was told that anyone who used a credit card that day was automatically enrolled.
I was able to cancel the transaction without penalty, but Value City invaded my privacy by giving this other company access to my account and providing them with my financial information.

About 3 weeks ago, I purchased what I thought was a comforter, and a sheet set. I did not open it right away becase I wanted to spring clean before putting it on my bed. Anyway when I did go to put it on my bed, I then realized that the comforter was a whole comforter set, so naturally, I didn't need the extra sheet set. So on 4/24, I went back to value city to return the item and because I didn't have my reciept, they weren't gonna let me do anything, no evev exchange, no refund, no store credit.
But then, the manager (kim) allowed me to make an even exchange, I got a shirt for my daughter, (who wasn't with me at the time) She didn't like the shirt, at all, so I thought o.k., now I have a receipt, and it is way less than 30 days, so it shouldn't be a problem returning this time. They still gave me a hard time, so finally, I gave in and picked something else for my daughter, this time it was about $9 and some change.
The cashier then looked at me and said, your gonna loose about $4) and I asked her how many choices do I have? and she turned and continued with what she was doing. That was not o.k. They should have just given me the remaining $4 because after all it is mine. The ordeal became so out of control that they called the police on me, but they have my money.

I purchased a vase at the Fishers area location, about 1 hour from my house, while visiting a friend. When I took it home, I decided it was the wrong color, and took it, in original bag and with the receipt, to the Lafayette Square location which is much closer to my home. Even though they had the EXACT same merchandise, I was told I could not get a refund or even an exchange, as it was not originally purchased at that location. The clerk even admitted that they are probably one of the very few companies with multiple locations that will not honor exchanges from a different location.

Furniture was purchased and was defective. Called that same day and reported the defects and asked that someone come out to repair or replace.
Defective furniture was repaired twice (2) to no avail.
Finally, requested that company come out to pick up and replace furniture. Company kept stating that someone would call to resolve the issue.
After 3 years, of CALLING, WAITING AND NEVER MISSING A PAYMENT, I finally had to request assistance from the Better Business Bureau (BBB).
After BBB got involved, company wrote me a letter stating that my warranties had expired.
Value City Furniture, used stalled tactics, instead of being fair with the customers, until you stop paying them.
I finally, had to stop paying them in order for them to respond to me regarding the defective furniture. It is still in my basement in pieces waiting for them to pick up and exchange.
They still have not picked up the furniture, but they NOW are requesting that I pay them for the JUNK that they refused to fix or exchange.

I purchased a bedroom set for $3,200.00, which includes head+footboard, drawer W/mirror and 2 nightstands. We also ordered a mattress for 1,300.00, delivery included with the buy. Now the head+foodboard, the drawer w/mirror, the 2 nightstands and a CHEST are on sale for 2600.00 AS IS (w/out the mattress). Exactly 1 month ago I wanted to buy the display, but they did not want it. My merchandises was delivered 2 weeks after my order.
I talked today to the Sales Associate, if they could adjust our price to the one on sale, but he said it was the manager's decision. The Manager said he could not do anything, because he wants to discountinue this model. However, the Sale Associate told us, that if somebody would like to order new furniture at the price of the floor model, they have to get it. Since the Manager didn't want to cooperate at all with us, we asked the Associate if if would be possible to give back the bedroom we ordered before and buy the displayed one. He said that the grace period was over, according to him it's only 7 days.
